Essay Questions For Hamlet
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Essay Questions for Hamlet" can be a challenging yet
intellectually rewarding endeavor. Hamlet, one of William Shakespeare's most iconic plays, is a
complex and nuanced work that delves into themes such as revenge, madness, existentialism,
and the intricacies of human nature. The play's rich tapestry of characters, plot twists, and poetic
language provides ample material for analysis and interpretation.
One of the difficulties in writing an essay on this topic lies in navigating the layers of Hamlet's
character. The titular character is multifaceted, struggling with inner conflicts and wrestling with
profound philosophical questions. Developing a cohesive argument and thesis requires a deep
understanding of Hamlet's psyche, motives, and the interplay between his actions and the
broader narrative.
Furthermore, the wealth of essay questions available for exploration adds another layer of
complexity. Selecting a specific theme or question demands careful consideration, as each
question opens a unique avenue for exploration. Whether delving into the psychological turmoil
of Hamlet, the role of women in the play, or the political undertones, the essayist must make
insightful choices to provide a nuanced and comprehensive analysis.
Moreover, the language and style of Shakespearean drama present a linguistic challenge.
Interpreting the Elizabethan English, deciphering the intricacies of metaphor and symbolism, and
capturing the essence of Shakespeare's poetic expressions require a keen linguistic sensibility.
Despite these challenges, the process of dissecting Hamlet's themes and characters can be
intellectually stimulating. Engaging with the play on a deeper level allows for a profound
exploration of human nature, morality, and the timeless relevance of Shakespeare's work.
In conclusion, while writing an essay on "Essay Questions for Hamlet" demands diligence and a
thoughtful approach, the journey is intellectually enriching. Navigating the complexities of
Hamlet's character and the myriad essay questions fosters a deeper appreciation for literature and
the enduring power of Shakespearean drama.

The Rise And Fall Of The Mayan Civilization
Many decades ago, northern Central America and southern Mexico cultures
developed complex political and social ranks. Researchers today know this region as
Mesoamerica, known for its rich soil, abundant amount of rainfall, and agriculture.
(Judge Langdon, 2012) The Mesoamericans, Aztec and Mayan tribes, developed into
complex civilizations for multiple reasons. These societies were advanced and
complex for their time in areas, such as architecture, agriculture, militarism, and
education. Each had unique religion and political systems as well. The rise and fall
of both were due to several factors.
The Mayan civilization society was very complex and intelligent; rising to become
very influential to people in different areas and much of their influence is still felt
today. Relics indicate they were very skilled in mathematics, education, astronomy
and astrology, agriculture, architecture, and politics. They originated in the Yucatan
area of present day Mexico between 250 and 900 A.D. The Mayans were organized
by city states and ran government the same way. The religion was based on
polytheism, or multiple Gods of nature and earth. One reason for their rise to a
complex civilization was that The Mayans were very advanced people in the area of
education. They were well ahead of their time in areas of math, astronomy, and even
medicine and other sciences. Society, along with much of the world today, is still
influenced by their ways and methods in these areas. The Mayas

20th Century Research Paper
The 20th Century was a period of great changes in the world due to several events that
happened during this period of time. Artist during this century created paintings

began between 1913 and 1920, led by artists of the Dadaist and Constructivist
traditions. As an example of these artistic movements are surrealism, expressionism,
futurism, and Cubism; these movements emerged from and were used by artists in

He is known for his work as a sculptor and experimental artist in the kinetic field.
The basis of Tinguely s formal means of expression was movement. Starting from
actual pictorial images that were set in motion, he explored movement in every
possible form (Reinhard). Its purpose is to give the viewer a show of displacement,
or at least the illusion of it. Moreover, Mobile works of Jean Tinguelywere created to
destroy or to self destruct, all in an effort to mock the overproduction of goods
meaningless, manufactured by advanced industrial society. After incurring abstract
painting, the Swiss artist experimented with kinesthetic movement as a form of
expression. His first works, exhibited in Paris, moved by electric motors. Monumental
pieces that help implement an ironic universe of useless machines, it seemed, were
produced. According to the Editors of Encyclopedia Britannia, Tinguely began to
construct his first truly sophisticated kinetic sculptures, which he termed
mГ©tamГ©chaniques , or metamechanicals. These were robot like contraptions
constructed of wire and sheet metal, the constituent parts of which moved or spun at
varying speeds. Artists who were inspired by Dada, such as Jean Tinguely, used their
work to express a more anarchic, satirical attitude to machines and
Persuasive Essay On Government Surveillance

Gerald Scott was published in 1925. This story is has to do with a rich young man
whose name is Jay Gatsby. In the book, many people have different dreams for their
life. However, their dreams cannot be accomplished, and they become shattered in
the end. The story begins with Nick who is the narrator of this story. Nick is a
straightforward person who knows all the events in the book. Some people
believe that Nick is just a bystander when he describes this story. I don t think so.
He is the only person that felt bad for Gatsby when was killed. His mood was ever
changing with the advancing story. I believe this is evidence that he is not only
the narrator but also the protagonist in the story. All of the plots are around the lead
characters, Gatsby and Daisy. As the story unravels, their personalities are
revealed. On the surface, Gatsby was born in the rich family and he was very
gentle and confident. Daisy wanted to be rich and she liked money. In fact,
Gatsby has a pathetic personality. If he were poor, he would not have had the
confidence to pursue Daisy. Daisy wanted to have a steady life. Although she liked
Gatsby, she knew that he wouldn t be able to give her that. Therefore, she decided
to just stay with her husband. My favorite character in the book happens to be
Nick because he was the one person who actually understood who Gatsby really
was. I felt sad for Gatsby. He didn t get anything in the end. He even lost his life.
When I read about Gatsby s watching Daisy s house, I feel sad because he was
lonely and I could feel his loneliness. Although he had so much money, he couldn t
have the one thing he really wanted. What he could do was watching Daisy s house
to miss her. To sum up, I learned something deep from this book. One thing is about
Gatsby. On the face, he is brilliant. But in fact, he is a lonely person. Sometimes,
people envy rich men. They don t realize that rich people have their own
Use Of Hypnosis And Medical Practice
The Use of Hypnosis in Medical Practice
A literature review
Ashley Gowty 10207287
For centuries hypnosis was far from being part of the scientific world. But in the last
couple of decades its reputation has moved from that of cult practise to a highly
recognised psychological practice. Recently there has been an emerging trend using
hypnosis in a physiological manner; this review will look at how hypnosis is
currently being used in the medical field. Looking at what exactly hypnosis is and its
therapeutic uses, it s use as a treatment for pain relief and reflecting on how
hypnotizable the general population is.
The literature reviewed is generally definitive in the nature of hypnosis. Bryant and
Mabbutt (2006, p. 12) describe it as ... a state of mind connected to deep relaxation,
narrowed focus, and increased suggestibility. They also suggest that Hypnosis is an
intermediate state between sleep and wakefulness. Bryant and Mabbutt s description
is echoed by Cyna, McAuliffe, Andrew who apply the use of hypnosis to the
clinical setting (hypnotherapy) and suggest that it is used to to achieve specific
therapeutic goals such as the alleviation of pain or anxiety. (Cyna, McAuliffe,
Andrew, 2004). Staff at The Mayo Clinic extend upon the defination of hypnosis by
stating that Hypnosis is intended to help you gain more control over undesired
behaviours or emotions or to help you cope better with a wide range of medical
conditions. (Staff, 2009). They continue by

Levin is a philosophy professor that has published texts that could be considered
homophobic, racist or sexist. He is currently teaching at the City University of New
York. In his text, Levin relies on creating fear in his readers and paints torture as the
only possible way to prevent terror attacks, which makes it seem narrow minded.
According to Levin, there are certain circumstances under which torture is not only
acceptable, but necessary: If it is the only way to save innocent lives, if the person
being tortured is obviously guilty and if is not used as a punishment. In his opinion,
saving innocent people that had no intention of being in harm s way is more
important than acting within the laws of the constitution. Harming the terrorist who

Source: own spss computation, 2017
According to the finding in the above table the regression equation was
Y = 1.381+ 0.168 X1 + 0.389 X2+ 0.636X3 + 0.304X4
Where Y is the dependent variable (effectiveness of inventory management), X1 is
procurement procedure, X2 is Funding, X3 is the staff skill X4 is Documentation.
The strength of each predictor (independent) variable influence on the dependent
variable can be investigated via standardized Beta coefficient. Hence, the regression
coefficient explain the average amount of change in dependent variable that caused
by a unit of change in the independent variable.
Therefore, as shown the table above fund is the most contributing factor in the

Polymet Mine Argumentative Paper
PolyMet Mine Argumentative Paper
PolyMet is a mining corporation that is based in Minnesota. The corporation has
proposed a mining location on what is currently National Forest Land. If the
proposal goes through, there will be an 18 month construction period and a 20 year
period of mining copper and nickel. It will be an open pit surface mining operation,
and 322,000 tons of rock will be processed a day. After the mining process is
completed, the land (which will turn into a pit due to the mining process) will
undergo reclamation and be filled with the excess sediment that was gathered during
the mining.
I believe that the process overall will be detrimental to the land. I do not believe 20
years of mining for easily imported materials ... Show more content on

Some argue that, economically, the mining operation will be a net gain in money
for the working class and that 75 to 80 percent of the jobs in northern Minnesota
will be local [1]. However, for the project to fully go through, it requires $200
million to $400 million in financial protections, and would overall be a financial
liability for taxpayers [2]. So despite how many jobs the project will create, it
could result in a net loss of money for the people living in that area. Another
problem that PolyMet thinks they have solved is the mass amount of pollution that
will surface during the mining process. They say they will use the most advanced
mining procedures to extract the materials and prevent pollution during the mines 20
year life [3]. Not only is this solution incredibly vague in its description, but many
argue that the pollution will be a problem long after the mine plays out and PolyMet
is gone. The latest studies shows a possibility that the mine s wastewater could flow
north to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness [3]. The argument that
advanced procedures would be used against pollution falls short of satisfactory when
their description is so ill defined.
In conclusion, the PolyMet Mine proposal is a project that I disagree with. Though
there are some initial benefits, the long term negative effects would hurt the land
more than help it. With the large amount of money from the taxpayers,
Point Of View Of The Book Peter Pan

because they talk about fairys and a magical place called NeverLand. In
NeverLand is TinkerBell she is one of the fairys that i talked about she is also
Peters best friend. This shows that the book Peter Pan is a fiction story based on its
details and illustrations.Point of View: This story is third person point of view
because there is a narrator that is telling the story. It is not first person point of
view because they do not use personal pronouns. And it is not second person point
of view because they do not use words like we. These show that it is third person

the day it was except for morning and night because they did not have time they
did not even know what day of the week it was because ever since they left London

that Captain Hook wants to capture Peter and his crew but really Peter himself. He
wants revenge on him because he fed his arm to a crocodile and ever since then he
has been afraid of that crocodile but really the ticking sound. That is also the problem
because Peter helped the indians and Captain Hook hates the indians.Plot Events:

Thematic Connection
Thematic Connections between A Separate Peace and Of Mice and Men
Historically speaking, prominent people have always been influenced by those they
surround themselves with. In Islamic empires, sultans had spoken through their
grand viziers. Throughout American history, presidents have been advised by their
cabinets, and with monarchies, kings have listened to their advisors. While
important people or rulers are especially influenced by their peers with important
rulers, this is also true for the everyday people, and this is the case with A Separate
Peace as well as Of Mice and Men. A Separate Peace is a historical fiction novel
written by John Knowles that follows two teenage friends, Gene and Finny, as they

Because of the similar relationships between the main characters, there are multiple
thematic connections between the stories. In both tales, the themes that a person s
identity is intricately intertwined with his/her friends and that a person s friends can
often dictate a person s actions are illustrated.
Considering how the two sets of main characters personalities are impacted by each
other, both stories feature a common theme that a person s identity can become
intimately woven with his/her friends. With A Separate Peace, Gene was
essentially just an extension of Finny. After Finny shattered his leg, Gene took on
Finny s dreams, and Finny even practically lived through him. Gene even
embodied Finny s identity when he wanted to forget about himself. Because of this,
when Finny died, Gene was shaken to his core. When describing how he reacted to
Finny s death, Gene states solemnly, I did not cry then or ever about Finny. I did
not even cry when I stood watching him being lowered into his family s straight
laced burial ground outside of Boston. I could not escape a feeling
Handwriting Writing Characteristics
Handwriting is a skill many people acquire at a young age. Handwriting is something
that is individual to a specific person based on individual characteristics. Special
examiners who are trained to examine documents and handwritings can compare
samples and identify class characteristics, individual characteristics, and use vision
and technology to make a positive connection or disconnection between a subject
sample and the comparisonsample. The act of handwriting is accomplished through
practice and repetition. Most people learn to write by copying letter formations
from a copybook at a young age (Harrison, D., Burkes, T., Seiger, D). Class
characteristics would include everyone who learned how to write their letters with
the traditional lined paper and were taught letter formation and spacing. Someone
who lives in America may have learned how to write differently from someone who
lives in a foreign country but it still holds the basic concept of forming letters or
symbols to make words. Once handwriting itself is mastered, people tend to adopt
individual characteristics that set their writingapart from others. The writing becomes
a pattern of subconscious, habitual formations that are repeated from one writing to
the next (Hilton 1982; Huber 1999). These writings separate a type or style from
being just standard copybook format to forming different strokes, patterns, skill level,
and or identifying techniques of writing. According to the FBI, no two writers share
The Sixth Commandment And The Death Penalty Debate
Religious leaders and organizations have been powerful lobbies on both sides of the
death penalty debate. Those against the death penalty say it is their moral obligation
to bring the issue of capital punishment to the forefront of the religious community s
agenda. They also argue that it is becoming increasingly difficult for the U.S. to
maintain its position as the global leader on human rights when it not only still
executes people, but juveniles as well. On the other side of the debate, some religious
leaders firmly believe the Sixth Commandment is a prohibition against murderand not
a prohibition against the death penalty. 5

Electoral College System Essay
The roots of the Electoral College System can be traced way back to more than 200
years. A controversial debate on the effectiveness of Electoral College continues
over years. The founders established it as a resolution between president choice by a
vote in congress and choice of the president by qualified citizens popular vote. 538
electors constituted the Electoral Collegeand 270 majorities of electoral votes choose
the president. The United Statesgot its independence from Great Britain, and its
government based on the Articles of Confederation (Burgan 9). According to Burgan,
under the article, the states acted almost like separate nations (9). It is well known
that the United States president becomes elected by Electoral College and... Show

The system also maintains the nations federal character since combinations of even
small states opinions receives attention. A small portion of a very populous state
cannot overshadow the minority. The status of the minority is enhanced as they
influence critical edge for candidates to emerge victorious. Contestants get
encouraged to venture into minorities through the system and not ignore them. The
College also eliminates most election problems. According to Bugh, the system
essentially assigns to the winner the votes of the people who voted against that
candidate (159). He continues that because there is no way to total votes across
states, the votes for candidates who do not win a state do not have a role in the
outcome of elections (159). In case of recounts, it occurs only in states and not
nationwide. I believe the college encourages stability via the two party system where
regional minorities are not undermined.
The intention for the design of Electoral College appeared to choose a person that
demonstrates both popular support and a broad distribution of support. This goal
becomes an achievement over the past decades. Some critics think that voting power
of smaller states gets overrepresented. They fail to acknowledge the democratic will
of all states as equal despite their low populations. Presidential campaigns disperse

You may get the Pho even before the appetizer arrives. Once it gets busy, food

Also, they should try to serve everyone at a table all at once, especially main dish
instead of one person getting one s food in advance while the rest of the people at
the same table are waiting. Lastly, although they have an extensive menu selection,
this place, in fact, is not specializing in vegetarian dishes in that Pho is made with

Essay on Speaking Out About Malt
Speaking Out about Malt Case 8.3 Page 404 405, Moral Issues in Business The
case of Whitewater Brewing and Mary Davis touches upon several views and moral
issues that are not specifically black or white. Case 8.3 specifically deals with a
business called Whitewater Brewing Co. Whitewater Brewing, as its name sounds, is
a manufacturer of alcoholic refreshments, selling its brands to various consumers.
The article in particular focuses upon a specific Whitewater product, Rafter. Rafter is
being targeted to match other similar products that are bottled in a 40 ounce size. The
unfortunate part is that these 40 ounce size refreshments are not only popular with
inner city teenagers but in the area where Whitewater sells these 40 ounce... Show

Ralph Jenkins, CEO of Whitewater, writes to Mary Davis to express the company
s views on her behavior and to ask her to first clear all further comments (regarding
her personal views on liquor production) with the business. Mary feels this to be an
invasion of her right to free speech. Additionally Mary informs Ralph Jenkins that
she seeks to pursue her article further and even speak at an engagement about her
views (personal ones). Mr. Jenkins remains adamant that Mary adhere to his
requests further escalating things to state she can either comply or resign. So
does Davis have a moral right to free speech in the workplace, or can Whitewater
determine the extent to her free speech? Also what would Davis s best path ethical
path be? The second is the easiest to answer so I will do that now. Davis could
simply put resign, enabling her to champion her beliefs and become a martyr for
her cause, as it were. As for the first question the answer is not a simple clear cut
one, and ultimately will be an individual one. Currently there is already legal
precedent that allows companies to require employees not to act or speak disloyally

Cross-Modal Plasticity Essay
Part A (Word Count: 200) Cross modal plasticity (CMP) is a fundamental feature of
the nervous system, whereby the loss of one sensory modality leads to enhanced
sensory performance in remaining modalities. Several studies have observed that
areas within the occipital cortex (O.C.) of blind individuals are recruited to process
non visual input. This was reported in blinded monkeys, wherein the O.C. showed
robust activation during tactile stimulation. However, different areas show different
susceptibilities to such plasticity depending on the developmental age at which the
sensory deprivation occurred. One study showed that O.C. activity varies between
sighted and congenitally blind participants, and those blinded later in life. Their
findings indicated that the longer a person has been blind for, the higher the amount
of CMP. This might result from a variety of mechanisms such as the emergence of
new connections due to sensory deprivation or the unmasking of preexisting
connections. That said, to prove that the activation of the O.C. is truly an indicator of
CMP, scientists investigated whether stimulating the cortex with TMS would disrupt
participants tactile acuity. Results showed congenitally blind individuals to have a
much higher error rate in reading... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in deaf individuals, the auditory cortex would be recruited for the
processing of visual information. That said, I recall learning that you can restore
people s hearing with a cochlear implant. This would work for congenitally deaf
individuals as well, who probably have a high degree of CMP, as their auditory
cortex is probably being used to process non auditory input. This raises the question:
Are the connections formed for the expression of CMP reversible? If not, does this
mean that CMP is unfavorable, seeing as it may limit hearing restoration with cochlear
Waltz With Bashir Essay
Dear Isabella, I have been thinking about the film, Waltz with Bashir (Israel, 2008),
for the past couple days and I finally have a response for you. I want to start off by
explaining the film to you with a brief synopsis. Remember that this film is an
animated and it is in the Islamic language. The beginning of the filmopens up with 26
vicious dogs that are running towards a man s house. But it is a recurring nightmare
that he has. He then goes on and tells director Ari Folman. Every night it is the same

Ari uses the characters to tell the audience what it was like to be there at that time.
The characters are taking cover from shots being fired at them to avoid being hit
by a bullet. They are standing up to the obstacles in front of them to get what they
want. The same thing happens in Do the Right Thing. I believe that Sal is firing
shots at the African American community by not having any blacks on his wall of
fame. They stand up to Sal saying that they deserve every right to be on that wall
too. I think that these two scenes go with eachother because they are both fighting
for a reason. There is tension in two different people that believe they need to fight
to show what they think and get their point across. Mise en scene is defined as
organization of everything that appears on the screen. This includes lights, sets,

Analysis Of Pedagogy Of The Oppressed
Free will isn t always what it seems. The essays Pedagogy of the Oppressed by

the idea of how the environment regulates revolutionary social change. The content
of the two authors essays shows how the varying environment that the public exists in

controls how revolutionary social change can be created or suppressed. Revolutionary
social change can be created and suppressed depending on if individuals are willing to
overcome the limitations placed upon them by their environment.

Rio Grande Rift
The Rio Grande rift is superimposed on a region with a long and complex history of
deformation and heating, which affects the location and com position of the
subsequent rift related magmatism (Mack, Seager, Kieling, 1994).. The development
of the Rio Grande rift formed part of a series of Cenozoic extensional events that
affected the whole of the western USA. These events were contemporaneous with
changes in motions of the Farallon and North American plates at the Pacific margin
and are widely thought to be genetically related to them by processes such as back arc
spreading. Alternative hypotheses re late extension to thermal relaxation and gravity
spreading of Laramide thickened crust and magmatism to active asthenospheric

Following the end of Laramide crustal shortening and Palaeogene magmatism, the
initiation of the development of the Rio Grande rift occurred between 31 28

propagated northward to northern New Mexico (27 25 million years ago) and
Colorado (27 26 Million years ago) (Crow, et.al., 2011). Early crustal extension
involved low angle faulting that formed broad basins and predates magmatism at
the rift axis. This early phase development of the Rio Grande rift lasted for 10 to

marks a change in direction of crustal extension from WSW ENE to E W, that was

Essay On The Existence Of Paradise By Rabindranath
Tagore
Introduction
We live in a society plagued with many problems. A society where a human s value
is determined by money, and not their character. A society where people are
discriminated on the basis of their color. A society where certain privileges are
restricted for women who bear the society s next generation. A society where
learning and creativity is killed and knowledge is sold at a price. These are
characteristics of a society which is on a path that will lead to its own destruction in
the near future.
In order to escape our society, we humans have resorted to the one thing that gives us
endless pleasure, to indulge in our dreams. Throughout the course of history, we have

He wrote this poem as a prayer to God, whom he addresses as Father . Tagore
prayed to his Father to grant freedom to his country on all levels religious, political,
moral and intellectual. He wanted them to stand up for the truth, strive for the
freedom they longed to achieve through sheer hard work and resilience. He wanted
them to know, that God was their Father and that they were all his children, and that
they must support each other irrespective of their caste, color, religion etc. so that
they can achieve a common goal independence. And thus, his country would awaken,

Frederick Douglass Speech
In 1852, when Frederick Douglass, a prominent civil rights activist and former
slave, was invited to speak in front of a modest audience of abolitionists in
commemoration of Independence Day, surely they were unprepared. Surely, they
were expecting a tone far less solemn. Surely some, if not most, went home that
day with at least a fraction of their patriotism replaced with something far more
unsettling. Perhaps it was a newfound perspective: the perspective of an American
slave on Independence Day a day that was, according to Douglass, not a celebration
applicable to a person of color. The purpose of Douglass s speech, The Hypocrisy
of the Nation Must Be Exposed , is exactly that: to evoke a response that makes
people uncomfortable, a response that makes people reconsider. In this piece, he
criticizes the nation s blatant disregard for its own founding principles through the
practice of slavery, reminding his audience that many are still a far cry from being
truly free. Douglass is able to call attention to severe injustices faced by enslaved
blacks across the nation and expose the corruption of the United Statesthrough the use
of literary devices and rhetorical appeals within his speech. Frederick Douglass
begins his speech by immediately introducing a literary device. A rhetorical question
is defined as a question asked in order to create a dramatic effect or to make a point
rather than to get an answer . Douglass offers several rhetorical questions in
succession,
The Battle Of Chancellorsville, Virginia
The battle of Chancellorsville, Virginia was fought from April 30 through May 6,
1863. It was fought between the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia
commanded by General Robert E. Lee, and the Federal Army of the Potomac
commanded by Major General Joseph Hooker. The intent of this battle was for
Major General Hooker s Union force to cross the Rappahannock River west of
Chancellorsville in order to gain control of the VirginiaCentral and Fredericksburg
rail lines; these rail lines were essential to the Army of Northern Virginia because
they were the main supply lines to Richmond, the capitol of the Confederate states.
The Union knew that by gaining the supply line to Richmond and defeating
General Lee, was crucial because this would cause the Confederate strategic center
of gravity to fall, essentially leading to an end of the Civil War. However, the
Army of the Potomac lost the battle of Chancellorsville against General Lee s Army
of Northern Virginia, and the Civil War raged on. The battle of Chancellorsville is
generally viewed as General Robert E. Lees greatest victory of the Civil War.
General Lee expertly demonstrated mission command by leading his troops into an
unlikely battle, understanding the battle, visualizing, and directing his troops in a
victory for the Confederacy. General Robert E. Lee is considered by many to be an
iconic American figure, a symbol of the South, and one of the greatest Generals in
American history. Lee was a highly regarded Colonel
Catapult Project Essay
This catapult project exemplifies and strengthened my current knowledge of
parabolas that we have learned during class. Using our skills, my group Katrina,
Brandon, Michelle, and I created an interesting catapult which would thrust a ping
pong ball across creating an upside down U shape, also known as a parabola.
During our time as a group, we learned to create our own equation, create a graph
and table, but also learn from our mistakes by trying to make the ping pong s journey
consistent. Not only this, but we worked together as a team to get this task done.
Before even beginning to measure the ping pong ball s journey , we had to create
our own catapult. Using materials provided by Ms. Csigi, such as popsicle sticks, hot
glue, rubber bands, and a spoon, we created the our own, unique catapult. First off,
we created a square with four popsicle overlapping each other. Then we created
another square and connected the two by the edge, with one side upwards. Then we
got a spoon and glued it on another popsicle stick. Because the spoon needed to be at
an angle, we hot glued the bottom facing the bottom of the square. We connected
rubber bands to the spoon so that once we pull the spoon to ground zero, the ... Show

One of my group members were confused as to why ax^2 is negative, but that is
because the ping pong ball has to come down at a certain point. With this in mind,
our group had to start at ground zero since we can t start at a negative point. Or
graph wouldn t make sense because the ping pong ball cannot go down into the
ground. Moving on, we actually found our standard form equation (using the
calculator) before our vertex form so we actually used this to our advantage. Instead
of doing all the unneeded work, we plugged in our vertex into the formula a(x
h)^2+k. So this way, our vertex form equation would come out to be
Mass Media And Its Effect On The Air Waves
Mass media distribution has been around since the invention of the printing press.
(Gerbner, 1999) However, broadcast radio presented a higher level of distribution
speed to this process and allowed for an extended reach to consumers. Since its
creation, this technology has been controlled by FCC regulations and advertising
support, limiting the freedom of the broadcasters so all of the possible listeners are
happy. Between the government maintenance and listening trends, the range of music
and content on the air waves has been reduced to 5 basic genres. The introduction of
the internet has allowed this medium to once again evolve. The reach has been
greatly extended, advertising made optional and freedom of use increased. This being
said, the largest attraction to internet radiois its ability to be customized by the
listener. Historically, the concept of internet radio has been around since the early
1990s. These broadcasts were still very limited because most of them were streams
from terrestrial radio stations or niche talk shows. Carl Malamud began this
phenomena with a weekly computer talk show, interviewing experts and streaming
it openly online. These types of broadcasts became so popular that The Rolling
Stone began playing a concert over the web as well. This idea would be copied over
and over again by every musician and music producer. As file sharing spread and
download speeds increased, issues began to rise between music streamers and the
Stroke Rate Lab Report
1.Preload is the amount of stretch of cardiac muscle cells prior to contraction. It is
controlled by the amount of venous return to the heart. The more venous return, the
more the cardiac muscle cells are stretched, which causes a stronger contraction
during systole, and this increases the stroke volume. Contractility is the strength of a
ventricular muscle contraction. An increase in contractility results in an increase in
stroke volume because more bloodis ejected from the heart. Afterload is the
resistance that the left ventricle must overcome before it can eject blood. An
increase in afterload causes a decrease in stroke volume because less of the blood in
the ventricle would be ejected.

African American Civil War And The Period Of
Reconstruction
After the Civil War and the period of Reconstruction there were many political, social
and economic changes which continued to affect the society. The role of African
Americans in society changed after the abolishment of slavery. This new freedom and
opportunities were not much greater than before when slavery existed. Despite
reconstruction efforts, African Americans faced discrimination. Society as a whole
was altered extensively at this time.
After the civil war, political changes affected African Americanlives significantly.
African Americans were freed of slavery by the 13th amendment and the 14th
amendment guaranteed their citizenship, Everyone born or naturalized in the US
were granted citizenship and were equal under the law (Doc 1). After about 250
years of slavery, African Americans were finally free of slavery (Johnson, 2000).
Though they were free, they had nowhere to go and no money to spend, They were
sent away empty handed, without money, without friends, and without a foot of land
to stand upon (Doc 2). Former owners used their power to place limitations on
emancipation. The former slaves had to end up working for their former masters and
borrowing land/money from them. As many people disagreed with the decision of the
13th amendment, many hate groups started to appear. Most commonly known group
was the KKK founded Tennessee, 1865 ( Ku Klux Klan, n.d.). They took it upon
themselves to hurt African Americans in various ways, People have been driven
Revenge And Adultery In Le Morte D Arthur
Important reoccurring themes in Le Morte d Arthur are adultery, fate, revenge,
people hiding their true identity, (unanswered) love, quests and chivalry HIER
OOK. In Le Morte d Arthur adultery is one of the most important themes and Arthur
has a lot to do with it. First of all he was born because of adultery between his
mother Igraine, who was actually married to the duke of Tintagil, and his father King
Uther Pendragon. Secondly he commits adultery himself with his sister, King Lot s
wife. Their child Mordredwill destroy him at the end of the book and so he is
punished for his sin. Thirdly Arthur s wife Guenever commits adultery with one of
his knights, Launcelot. Fate is a very eminent theme as well, as the future is often

For example, when Arthur sleeps with his sister Morgause and gets her pregnant with
Mordred, he dreams about serpents and dragons that wound him. Right before he
gets killed by Mordred, he dreams about them again, but this time they destroy
him. Dragons and serpents, in this case, symbolise destruction and the death of
Arthur (NoodГ©n 1992). The white brachet that ran in court with a lady on a
palfrey and a hart is one of these symbols as well. In medieval times, the brachet
was a symbol for love, which is why Tor is sent to fetch the brachet rather than
Gawaine or Pellinore, as they are not capable of loving the way Tor is (Dagg
1969). Finally the Questing Beast is an important animal symbol, symbolising a
meaningless quest. Sir Pellinore has to hunt it down, but it seems quite a useless
thing to do. This symbolises the way he does other quests, like when he has to find
the lady of the hart and brachet and refuses to help another lady in need. The quest
he is doing is made useless because of that, as he is not being chivalrous. In this case
the Questing Beast is a reflection of Pellinore s personality (Dagg
Letters from an American Farmer Essay
We Are America
America a land known for its ideals of freedom and new opportunities, a nation built
under the idea that every man and women is created equal. However, the definition of
what makes a person an American is entirely different from what it is that makes up
America, itself. J.Hector St. John Crevecoeur, author of Letters from an American
Farmer (1782), exposes what he believes makes an American. However, when
compared to the standards of what makes an American in today s world, it seems that
becoming an American then was much simpler then, than it is today. The definitionof
an American is always evolving due to the influences of our changing nation. During
a simpler time, Crevecoeur defined an American as someone of European ... Show

They were open to American ideals, such as freedom of religion and freedom of
speech. America welcomed anyone who would work hard to achieve their dreams
and strive for their goals. Compared to the 18th century, people who enter the United
States, today, are also looking to start anew; and are looking to work hard for their
rights. America still believes in freedom and in being the land of opportunities even
though time has changed some of America s original ideals. Nowadays, becoming an
American is not as simple as entering America and obtaining land. For example, there
is the process of applying for citizenship, something that has now become a big part of
defining an American. Hundreds of thousands of people per year apply for
citizenship, yet not many people are granted the opportunity to become one.
Anonymous shared their story online and said, I never once thought immigration
would affect me, until I realized that laws change and if you are just a resident
here...you have no protection (Defining American). Immigrants feel citizens have
more rights than people who are just residents. An immigrant wanting to become a
citizen must go through a variety of questions about the United States and what its
founders had set as its ideals. Though, with patience, an immigrant can become an

Analysis Of Taming Of The Shrew
Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare, the indication of a woman being the
possession of her husband, and having to do everything that he proposes her to do
is presented. Katherine has to acquire appropriate manners toward a man in advance
before her sister Bianca can wed. Bianca wishes to marry one of her suitors
/bachelors, but she can t due to tradition because the older sister has to marry first.
In 10 Things I Hate About You
, a analogous argument, the notion of a girl requiring
appropriate behavior is exemplified. There are many resemblances and
dissimilarities in characters of both, for instance, Katherine and Kat, the two main
focuses, both come from families with a decent quantity of prosperity, as seen from
the housing in both aspects, as in the play, she lives in type of a Roman Villa, and in
the movie 10 Things I Hate About You, they live in a quiet, large community. An
additional likeness remains that Petruchio is compensated to get married to
Katherine, however in the up to date version; Patrick is also compensated to go out
with Katherine. In the end, Patrick and Petruchio have tamed Katherine because she
is now willing to marry/date.
The plots are very parallel. The straightforward plots of Taming of the Shrew and 10
Things I Hate About You both involve various men wanting to be with Bianca, but
Bianca has a mean, older sister named Katherine who no one wants to be with. In
both of the stories, the father of these two girls stresses that Bianca not get
The Panopticon
What is the definition of privacy? According to Merriam Webster, it is the quality or
state of being apart from company or observation or the freedom from unauthorized
intrusion. This definition implies that one has the ability to isolate onself or even
information about onself, and is thus able to express oneself freely and secretly.
While privacy and what is considered private differs across cultures and societal
norms, the common themes remain. When an individual deems something private ,
this usually suggests that this object in particular is intrinsically special or sensitive
for him or herself. With the emergence of 21st century technologies (such as
smartphones) and of public knowledge of global government surveillance(NSA,

Constitution. The amendment states the The right of the people to be secure in their
persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall
not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by
Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the
persons or things to be seized. Advocates underscore that the amendment clearly
alludes to a right to privacy and should be further extended to digital properties as
well. In this case, digital documents would be analogous to the papers mentioned in
the amendment. If the NSA has the technological power to track people s
communications, then it should only be able to follow people of suspect, or probable
cause, thus preserving the privacy of the innocent civilian. Simply put, the U.S.
Constitution placed a high value on privacy with the 4th amendment, and therefore
the U.S. Government has the responsibility to uphold that declaration. By increasing
the power of government agencies such as the NSA, the country faces a greater
potential of power abuse. It is not a coincidence that the government has partnered
with various phone and internet companies. By joining with the producers of phones
and websites, the government has found a method of sustaining its own effective
panopticon. Cell phones and the internet have become a crucial part of the
Carthage
Carthage was the Phoenician City State on the coast of what is now the country of
Tunisia. Phoenician is a term used to describe the people who originally migrated
out of areas such as Iran and Syria and Palestine. Hugging the coastal region of the
Mediterranean, the Carthaginian ruling class was able to spread their power and
influence much like Rome was able to on the Italian peninsula. With trade, diplomacy
and some military force, the city state of Carthagewas able to spread out from its city
to present day Spain and the Gulf of Sidra in present day Libya.
One could say that the two cities of Carthage and Rome grew up at the same time,
from the 7th Century BCE on. By the time Rome began expanding its borders
through trade and alliances, one of the first established super powers it met was
Carthage; already a well developed power in its own right. As Morey states, the two
cities were fairly equally matched; Carthage was wealthier, but Rome was better
organized. Carthage had a better navy and Rome a better Army. Carthage had better
leaders, but Rome had more dependable and loyal citizens.
The ruling families of Carthage were able ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first large conflict between the two began over control of the island Sicily. Both
empires already had colonies on the island along with two other nations (the Kingdom
of Syracuse and the Campanians). The struggle for authority and control over the
island sparked the First Punic War. Not only were battles fought on the Sicilian
island itself, but on Carthaginian soil along the African coast. After the first few
losses, Rome was able to even the odds by taking one of Carthage s Warships and
reproducing their own versions. Within 60 days, it is said that Rome built 100 of
their own quinquiremes. (Morey, Chapter 14) Now with naval equality and a superior
army, Rome should have been
The World Of Modern Politics
In the world of modern politics there are International organizations that focus of
world trade to world healthcare to smaller organizations and can comprise of small
countries to the world s power house countries like Russia and the United states.
These international organizations play a very large role in the global politics scale
and to help understand their impact, different theories were created to help describe
their overall impact on the global scale. Four of the main theories as are
Neorealism, Neo institutionalism, Neo liberalism, and constructivism and each of
these theories have similarities and differences between them and each, to some
people, better describe international organizations in the global stage. The first
theory proposed is Neo liberalism which is the theory that states structure in the
international scene are created by anarchy, the disorder from a lack of and or
recognition of a greater authority and these organizations thrive because of it. Both
Robert Axelrod and Robert O. Keohane argue the importance of anarchy in the
global politics scene and argues that the lack of a governing body allows a variety of
patterns of interaction between the states (Baldwin 4). Anarchy in the global scene
allows each stateto fend for themselves and strive for their own goals, most share the
common goal of survival and to survive they need a strong military to defend from
attacks from other states. Since each nationstate will not have the same power as
another
What Are The Seven Elements Of Art
One piece of artwork that I did that has all the seven elements of art was my animal
watercolor painting. The seven elements of art are line, shape, color, value, form ,
texture, and space. Somethings that these elements help with are make the
artwork more realistic. It can also help how realistic the details are and how it
looks three dimensional. The first element I used was line. Line helps you make a
outline of what you are trying to make. Line is the edges of a figure and it can be
made with a pen or pencil. A line can help how realistic you artwork can look. If you
make a line that is behind you figure at a certain angle it can make the shape seem
real. Line is very important to a drawing because it can show a lot of detail. Another
element that can help a piece of artwork is shape. Shape is a area enclosed by... Show

Texture can also help your artwork feel more realistic. I used texture in my
watercolor by painting little hairs on the wolf s body to show how it might feel. It
might feel like a furry rug or soft hair. Texture can help with your artwork because it
can help the viewer imagine the object in their mind. The final element is space.
Space can help show where the object is and you can also tell the setting from the
space around it. Space can also help your artwork because it can give detail about the
story behind of the artwork. In my watercolor painting the the space I used was to
show the the wolf was all by itself. It also shows how the land is barren and their is
nothing on it.
The Seven Elements of Art can help your pieces of artwork. Some examples of
elements that can help are texture. Texture can help by helping the viewer imagine
how the object feels. Another element that can help us form. Form can help your
drawing feel more three dimensional. All the seven elements help your artwork feel
more realistic and help improve your art

Once More To The Lake Analysis
Elwyn Brooks E.B. White is an American writer. He is a well know author for
writing Stuart Little (1945) , Charlottes Web (1952) , and The Trumpet of the Swan
(1970) . E.B. White was born July 11, 1899, in Mount Vernon, New York and died
on October 1, 1985 suffering from Alzheimer s disease, at his farm home in North
Brooklin, Maine. White also contributed to the New YorkerMagazine and was a co
writer of English language style guide The Elements of Style. Through this story,
Once More to the Lake is a reflection of White s childhood memories that he is now
sharing with his sons and we see how this trip to the lake means everything to him.
This story is based on how white s father took him to the lake that is just outside of
the city.
Black Friday And Its Effect On America
Since the 1960s, consumers have been waking up during the early morning hours
the day after Thanksgiving to score the lowest prices of the year. Black Friday
kicks off the Christmas shopping season, with prices so low people get into physical
fights in hopes of grabbing the last item. But has Black Friday ran its course? Many
analyst seem to think that Black Fridaywill have very little importance in the
upcoming years, and I would have to agree with them. Although I do believe that
the weekend after Thanksgiving will always be a little busier than any other
weekend, I believe the urgency consumers feel to wake up at 3 a.m. on Black Friday
to snag the best deals will eventually cease to exist.
One of the largest reasons I believe that Black Friday will lose its importance is that
many stores are now starting to open their doors on Thanksgiving evening. This
year, many stores opened their doors at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving, offering the same
deals that consumers could receive the following day, Black Friday. In my own
personal experience, I believe the stores were busier Thursday evening than they
were on Black Friday itself. Large box stores such as Wal Mart and Target are hurting
their own Black Friday sales by making Black Friday less exclusive. In the consumer
s mind, Black Friday is a day when all stores are packed, checkout lines will be long,
aisles crowded, so why not going Thanksgiving evening when the store is open? This
seems like a logical reason to go, since they
The Effect Of Precipitation On The Water Cycle
Precipitation Precipitation is water that is either is solid or liquid form that falls
from the Earth s atmosphere. The major types of precipitation are rain, snow, and
hail. When air is lifted from the atmosphere, it expands and cools (Wilson, 2015 ).
Cool air can t hold as much water in vapor form as warm air, and the condensation of
vapor into droplets or icecrystals may occur. The droplets will keep growing, they
will eventually be heavy enough to fall to the Earth s surface (Wilson, 2015 ).
Precipitationin liquid from will include drizzle and raindrops. Snowflakes are
formed by aggregation of solid ice crystals within a cloud, while hailstones are
cooled water droplets and ice pellets. Warm clouds are explained as that do not
extend to levels where temperatures are 32В°F, whereas cold clouds exist at part in
temperatures that are below 32В°F (Wilson, 2015 ). Precipitation is the third step in
the water cycle. The water cycle is a process in which water circulates between the
Earth s oceans, atmosphere, and land. The water cycle involves precipitation such as
rain, snow, drainage in streams and rivers, and then returns to the atmosphere by
evaporation and transpiration. Evaporation is when the sun heats up the water in
rivers, lakes, or oceans and turns it into vapor or steam (Guenther, 1998 2015). The
water vapor or steam will leave the river, lake, or ocean and will go into the air.
Condensation occurs when water vapor in the air gets cold and changes back into
Destiny In Religion
Religious traditions and beliefs sets form the core of knowledge and attitudes of a
religion towards sometimes controversial topics; two of the often overlooked
subjects in today s society are death and destiny. Each person s interpretations of
their own religion s set beliefs can largely impact their own live and the way they see
these topics. Reform Judaism, Orthodox Judaism and Catholicism have varied beliefs
when it comes to their traditional teachings of death and destiny.
Catholicism is one of the many braches of Christianity. The foundational text for the
Catholicism is the Bible, which Catholics believe is the inspired, error free, and
revealed word of God. However the Encyclical, Catechism and Magisterium are also
teachings that guide Catholics look to for answers regarding death and destiny. One
of the core beliefs of the catholic religion is that baptism, the rite of becoming a
Catholic, is necessary for salvation. They also believe in the existence of the Holy
Trinity. This is one God in three persons. Catholics embrace the beliefthat God, the
one Supreme Being, is made up of three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and
God the Holy Spirit (Basic Beliefs of Catholicism, 2016). They also use Gods Ten
Commandments as a moral compass or ethical standard to live by. The main ... Show

Catholics believe that at death the soul is separated from the body and is judged
immediately, and enters either heaven (immediately or through purgatory) or hell
(Summaries of catholic teaching, 2014). They also believe that every soul will
unite with its resurrected body just prior to the Last Judgment ( Judgment Day )
when Christ returns. Jewish sources are full of references to the fate that awaits us
after we die. But you, go on to the end; you shall rest, and arise to your destiny at the
end of the days. (Daniel
Opal Mining Of Australi The Mining Capital Of The World
Opal Mining in Australia
Australia contains a lot of opal, especially in South Australia producing an estimated
95 97% of the world s opal supply. All of the opal mines in Australia are located in
the Artesian Basin which contains many mining towns such as Lightning Ridge,
Andamooka, White Cliffs and Coober Pedy, which has been called the mining capital
of the world.
All of these towns are situated in Australia s outback, the land mostly consisting of
barren dry rock and dirt. But hiding in the endless dusty land and rocks are masses of
Opal. Coober Pedy, Lightning Ridge, and Andamooka are home to many Opal mines,
most of which are underground mines. The whole of Coober Pedy has many
underground mines for opals extending out 40kms around the town with over
200,000 mine shafts which can be up to 27m deep. Andamooka another prominent
mining town has 52km2 of mines both underground and open mines, three to ten
meters deep into the seabed.
In all of these rural mining towns there is not that much infrastructure due to the
small populations and most residents will either be in the mining or tourism
industry. This is good for mining as more of the land is able to use to mine the
opals. In Coober Pedy a lot of residents live in underground homes called dugouts
because of the harsh hot weather in Coober Pedy. This meant that there was no
concern for the underground mines as they did not interfere with residential living
space, in fact many homes were made out of old mines. There

The Theme of Dehumanization in Breakfast of Champions

(Vonnegut 259) Imagine if this was addressed to you. What an awful feeling of
betrayal and loneliness you would no doubt get. But what if next you heard this?
You are the only creature in the entire Universe who has free will. You are the only
one who has to figure out what to do next and why. Everybody else is a robot, a
machine. (Vonnegut 259) Surely you would feel like your entire existence was a big

human feeling. You would be a poor victim, someone taken hold of by the cold grasp

This is where Kilgore Trout and Dwayne Hoover are destined to meet. The story is
set in New York around 1973. It follows Trout s journey from Cohoes to Midland
City, and Hoover s dysfunctional daily routine while Trout is doing so. Trout
makes his way by getting a ride with a truck driver and during the ride, as well as
the whole trip, his mind wanders to fanciful stories of science fiction. Destiny, as it
were, brings Trout and Hoover together near the end of the book. This is where Trout
turns Hoover into a homicidal maniac.
There are a few motifs that Vonnegut uses to drive in the theme of dehumanization
in his book. Sex is one of the most apparent motifs used. It is also one of the most
sacred things we have as humans. We use it for recreation1 and we also use it to
recreate. Vonnegut uses our sexual urges to tear us apart and make us seem
mechanical and routine. He reduces us to nothing less than a fucking machine .
(Vonnegut 280) Kilgore Trout s literature for example, is filler for pornographic
books and magazines. His works of art are featured in publications, which advertise
Wide Open Beavers Inside . (Vonnegut 22) It fills such a need, this machine, says
Trout of a film projector in an adult theater, and it s so easy to operate. (Vonnegut 69)

Description Of A Golf At Seattle, Should They Charge...

Golf in Seattle, Should they Charge Seasonal Rates?
Executive Summary: There are 22 Seattle golf courses included in the sample data.
The public courses do not charge seasonal green fees, charging one rate no matter
the weather or temperature. Our goal is to derive the demand function for gold
courses in relation to the price, as well as a best estimate of the demand function for
specifically the MGS courses. Furthermore, we will use the data to advise MGS on
the benefits of constructing additional driving ranges and paving paths for golf carts,
and if these will lead to an increase of revenue. Finally, we will provide insight on
whether the elasticity of demand for golf courses is seasonal in nature, and if the
implementation of seasonal rates will lead to an increase of revenue. We first started
by examining the different variables in relation to rounds, and seeing their
corresponding p values. Since YARD, RANGE, and WINTER*FEE all have
insignificant p values, we remove them from our model in order to increase the
accuracy, Using the Wald test, we confirm they are irrelevant to the model, and are
taken out. Then, using our new model, we must test for heteroscedasticity using the
White test. We find there is, and so we adjust our model accordingly. Finally, we
reanalysed all the variables and made sure they were all still logically correct, and
conclude our model is BLUE. From here, we computed

Gerald Scott was published in 1925. This story is has to do with a rich young man whose name is Jay Gatsby. In the book, many people have different dreams for their life. However, their dreams cannot be accomplished, and they become shattered in the end. The story begins with Nick who is the narrator of this story. Nick is a straightforward person who knows all the events in the book. Some people believe that Nick is just a bystander when he describes this story. I don t think so. He is the only person that felt bad for Gatsby when was killed. His mood was ever changing with the advancing story. I believe this is evidence that he is not only the narrator but also the protagonist in the story. All of the plots are around the lead characters, Gatsby and Daisy. As the story unravels, their personalities are revealed. On the surface, Gatsby was born in the rich family and he was very gentle and confident. Daisy wanted to be rich and she liked money. In fact, Gatsby has a pathetic personality. If he were poor, he would not have had the confidence to pursue Daisy. Daisy wanted to have a steady life. Although she liked Gatsby, she knew that he wouldn t be able to give her that. Therefore, she decided to just stay with her husband. My favorite character in the book happens to be Nick because he was the one person who actually understood who Gatsby really was. I felt sad for Gatsby. He didn t get anything in the end. He even lost his life. When I read about Gatsby s watching Daisy s house, I feel sad because he was lonely and I could feel his loneliness. Although he had so much money, he couldn t have the one thing he really wanted. What he could do was watching Daisy s house to miss her. To sum up, I learned something deep from this book. One thing is about Gatsby. On the face, he is brilliant. But in fact, he is a lonely person. Sometimes, people envy rich men. They don t realize that rich people have their own

But in the last couple of decades its reputation has moved from that of cult practise to a highly recognised psychological practice. Looking at what exactly hypnosis is and its therapeutic uses, it s use as a treatment for pain relief and reflecting on how hypnotizable the general population is. The literature reviewed is generally definitive in the nature of hypnosis. Bryant and Mabbutt (2006, p. 12) describe it as ... a state of mind connected to deep relaxation, narrowed focus, and increased suggestibility. They also suggest that Hypnosis is an intermediate state between sleep and wakefulness. Bryant and Mabbutt s description is echoed by Cyna, McAuliffe, Andrew who apply the use of hypnosis to the clinical setting (hypnotherapy) and suggest that it is used to to achieve specific therapeutic goals such as the alleviation of pain or anxiety. (Cyna, McAuliffe, Andrew, 2004). Staff at The Mayo Clinic extend upon the defination of hypnosis by stating that Hypnosis is intended to help you gain more control over undesired behaviours or emotions or to help you cope better with a wide range of medical conditions. The corporation has proposed a mining location on what is currently National Forest Land. If the proposal goes through, there will be an 18 month construction period and a 20 year period of mining copper and nickel. It will be an open pit surface mining operation, and 322,000 tons of rock will be processed a day. After the mining process is completed, the land (which will turn into a pit due to the mining process) will undergo reclamation and be filled with the excess sediment that was gathered during the mining. I believe that the process overall will be detrimental to the land. I do not believe 20 years of mining for easily imported materials ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some argue that, economically, the mining operation will be a net gain in money for the working class and that 75 to 80 percent of the jobs in northern Minnesota will be local [1]. However, for the project to fully go through, it requires $200 million to $400 million in financial protections, and would overall be a financial liability for taxpayers [2]. So despite how many jobs the project will create, it could result in a net loss of money for the people living in that area. Another problem that PolyMet thinks they have solved is the mass amount of pollution that will surface during the mining process. They say they will use the most advanced mining procedures to extract the materials and prevent pollution during the mines 20 year life [3]. Not only is this solution incredibly vague in its description, but many argue that the pollution will be a problem long after the mine plays out and PolyMet is gone. The latest studies shows a possibility that the mine s wastewater could flow north to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness [3]. The argument that advanced procedures would be used against pollution falls short of satisfactory when their description is so ill defined. In conclusion, the PolyMet Mine proposal is a project that I disagree with. Though there are some initial benefits, the long term negative effects would hurt the land more than help it. Handwriting is something that is individual to a specific person based on individual characteristics. Special examiners who are trained to examine documents and handwritings can compare samples and identify class characteristics, individual characteristics, and use vision and technology to make a positive connection or disconnection between a subject sample and the comparisonsample. The act of handwriting is accomplished through practice and repetition. Most people learn to write by copying letter formations from a copybook at a young age (Harrison, D., Burkes, T., Seiger, D). Class characteristics would include everyone who learned how to write their letters with the traditional lined paper and were taught letter formation and spacing. Someone who lives in America may have learned how to write differently from someone who lives in a foreign country but it still holds the basic concept of forming letters or symbols to make words. Once handwriting itself is mastered, people tend to adopt individual characteristics that set their writingapart from others. The writing becomes a pattern of subconscious, habitual formations that are repeated from one writing to the next (Hilton 1982; Huber 1999). These writings separate a type or style from being just standard copybook format to forming different strokes, patterns, skill level, and or identifying techniques of writing. According to the FBI, no two writers share

A small portion of a very populous state cannot overshadow the minority. The status of the minority is enhanced as they influence critical edge for candidates to emerge victorious. Contestants get encouraged to venture into minorities through the system and not ignore them. The College also eliminates most election problems. According to Bugh, the system essentially assigns to the winner the votes of the people who voted against that candidate (159). He continues that because there is no way to total votes across states, the votes for candidates who do not win a state do not have a role in the outcome of elections (159). In case of recounts, it occurs only in states and not nationwide. I believe the college encourages stability via the two party system where regional minorities are not undermined. The intention for the design of Electoral College appeared to choose a person that demonstrates both popular support and a broad distribution of support. This goal becomes an achievement over the past decades. Some critics think that voting power of smaller states gets overrepresented. They fail to acknowledge the democratic will of all states as equal despite their low populations. Presidential campaigns disperse

Cross-Modal Plasticity Essay Part A (Word Count: 200) Cross modal plasticity (CMP) is a fundamental feature of the nervous system, whereby the loss of one sensory modality leads to enhanced sensory performance in remaining modalities. Several studies have observed that areas within the occipital cortex (O.C.) of blind individuals are recruited to process non visual input. This was reported in blinded monkeys, wherein the O.C. showed robust activation during tactile stimulation. However, different areas show different susceptibilities to such plasticity depending on the developmental age at which the sensory deprivation occurred. One study showed that O.C. activity varies between sighted and congenitally blind participants, and those blinded later in life. Their findings indicated that the longer a person has been blind for, the higher the amount of CMP. This might result from a variety of mechanisms such as the emergence of new connections due to sensory deprivation or the unmasking of preexisting connections. That said, to prove that the activation of the O.C. is truly an indicator of CMP, scientists investigated whether stimulating the cortex with TMS would disrupt participants tactile acuity. Results showed congenitally blind individuals to have a much higher error rate in reading... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He wanted them to know, that God was their Father and that they were all his children, and that they must support each other irrespective of their caste, color, religion etc. so that they can achieve a common goal independence. And thus, his country would awaken, into his heaven of freedom . India After independence At midnight on August 15, 1947, India awoke to freedom. Several decades later, the nation has taken its place as the world s largest democracy. Let us take a look at how India has progressed since independence, with the help of some of the lines of Tagore s poem, as it slowly steers itself towards the path that will lead to Tagore s heaven of freedom . Where the mind is without fear Peace and security, internal as well as external, is the first and most essential foundation for the nation s future progress which reflects in these lines of the poem. India has the fifth strongest military in the world and has got one of the most sophisticated missile programs in the world. Frederick Douglass Speech In 1852, when Frederick Douglass, a prominent civil rights activist and former slave, was invited to speak in front of a modest audience of abolitionists in commemoration of Independence Day, surely they were unprepared. Surely, they were expecting a tone far less solemn. Surely some, if not most, went home that day with at least a fraction of their patriotism replaced with something far more unsettling. Perhaps it was a newfound perspective: the perspective of an American slave on Independence Day a day that was, according to Douglass, not a celebration applicable to a person of color. The purpose of Douglass s speech, The Hypocrisy of the Nation Must Be Exposed , is exactly that: to evoke a response that makes people uncomfortable, a response that makes people reconsider. In this piece, he criticizes the nation s blatant disregard for its own founding principles through the practice of slavery, reminding his audience that many are still a far cry from being truly free. Douglass is able to call attention to severe injustices faced by enslaved blacks across the nation and expose the corruption of the United Statesthrough the use of literary devices and rhetorical appeals within his speech. Frederick Douglass begins his speech by immediately introducing a literary device. A rhetorical question is defined as a question asked in order to create a dramatic effect or to make a point rather than to get an answer . Douglass offers several rhetorical questions in succession,

It was fought between the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia commanded by General Robert E. Lee, and the Federal Army of the Potomac commanded by Major General Joseph Hooker. The intent of this battle was for Major General Hooker s Union force to cross the Rappahannock River west of Chancellorsville in order to gain control of the VirginiaCentral and Fredericksburg rail lines; these rail lines were essential to the Army of Northern Virginia because they were the main supply lines to Richmond, the capitol of the Confederate states. The Union knew that by gaining the supply line to Richmond and defeating General Lee, was crucial because this would cause the Confederate strategic center of gravity to fall, essentially leading to an end of the Civil War. However, the Army of the Potomac lost the battle of Chancellorsville against General Lee s Army of Northern Virginia, and the Civil War raged on. The battle of Chancellorsville is generally viewed as General Robert E. Lees greatest victory of the Civil War. General Lee expertly demonstrated mission command by leading his troops into an unlikely battle, understanding the battle, visualizing, and directing his troops in a victory for the Confederacy. General Robert E. Lee is considered by many to be an iconic American figure, a symbol of the South, and one of the greatest Generals in American history. Lee was a highly regarded Colonel

Using our skills, my group Katrina, Brandon, Michelle, and I created an interesting catapult which would thrust a ping pong ball across creating an upside down U shape, also known as a parabola. During our time as a group, we learned to create our own equation, create a graph and table, but also learn from our mistakes by trying to make the ping pong s journey consistent. Not only this, but we worked together as a team to get this task done. Before even beginning to measure the ping pong ball s journey , we had to create our own catapult. Using materials provided by Ms. Csigi, such as popsicle sticks, hot glue, rubber bands, and a spoon, we created the our own, unique catapult. First off, we created a square with four popsicle overlapping each other. Then we created another square and connected the two by the edge, with one side upwards. Then we got a spoon and glued it on another popsicle stick. Because the spoon needed to be at an angle, we hot glued the bottom facing the bottom of the square. Moving on, we actually found our standard form equation (using the calculator) before our vertex form so we actually used this to our advantage. (Gerbner, 1999) However, broadcast radio presented a higher level of distribution speed to this process and allowed for an extended reach to consumers. Since its creation, this technology has been controlled by FCC regulations and advertising support, limiting the freedom of the broadcasters so all of the possible listeners are happy. Between the government maintenance and listening trends, the range of music and content on the air waves has been reduced to 5 basic genres. The introduction of the internet has allowed this medium to once again evolve. The reach has been greatly extended, advertising made optional and freedom of use increased. This being said, the largest attraction to internet radiois its ability to be customized by the listener. Historically, the concept of internet radio has been around since the early 1990s. These broadcasts were still very limited because most of them were streams from terrestrial radio stations or niche talk shows. Carl Malamud began this phenomena with a weekly computer talk show, interviewing experts and streaming it openly online. These types of broadcasts became so popular that The Rolling Stone began playing a concert over the web as well. This idea would be copied over and over again by every musician and music producer. As file sharing spread and download speeds increased, issues began to rise between music streamers and the

The more venous return, the more the cardiac muscle cells are stretched, which causes a stronger contraction during systole, and this increases the stroke volume. Contractility is the strength of a ventricular muscle contraction. An increase in contractility results in an increase in stroke volume because more bloodis ejected from the heart. Afterload is the resistance that the left ventricle must overcome before it can eject blood. An increase in afterload causes a decrease in stroke volume because less of the blood in the ventricle would be ejected. 2.Antidiuretic hormone (ADH) stimulates the kidneys

The quest he is doing is made useless because of that, as he is not being chivalrous. In this case the Questing Beast is a reflection of Pellinore s personality (Dagg

The Seven Elements of Art can help your pieces of artwork. Some examples of elements that can help are texture. Texture can help by helping the viewer imagine how the object feels. Another element that can help us form. Form can help your drawing feel more three dimensional. All the seven elements help your artwork feel more realistic and help improve your art

  • 49. Black Friday And Its Effect On America Since the 1960s, consumers have been waking up during the early morning hours the day after Thanksgiving to score the lowest prices of the year. Black Friday kicks off the Christmas shopping season, with prices so low people get into physical fights in hopes of grabbing the last item. But has Black Friday ran its course? Many analyst seem to think that Black Fridaywill have very little importance in the upcoming years, and I would have to agree with them. Although I do believe that the weekend after Thanksgiving will always be a little busier than any other weekend, I believe the urgency consumers feel to wake up at 3 a.m. on Black Friday to snag the best deals will eventually cease to exist. One of the largest reasons I believe that Black Friday will lose its importance is that many stores are now starting to open their doors on Thanksgiving evening. This year, many stores opened their doors at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving, offering the same deals that consumers could receive the following day, Black Friday. In my own personal experience, I believe the stores were busier Thursday evening than they were on Black Friday itself. Large box stores such as Wal Mart and Target are hurting their own Black Friday sales by making Black Friday less exclusive. In the consumer s mind, Black Friday is a day when all stores are packed, checkout lines will be long, aisles crowded, so why not going Thanksgiving evening when the store is open? This seems like a logical reason to go, since they
  • 50. The Effect Of Precipitation On The Water Cycle Precipitation Precipitation is water that is either is solid or liquid form that falls from the Earth s atmosphere. The major types of precipitation are rain, snow, and hail. When air is lifted from the atmosphere, it expands and cools (Wilson, 2015 ). Cool air can t hold as much water in vapor form as warm air, and the condensation of vapor into droplets or icecrystals may occur. The droplets will keep growing, they will eventually be heavy enough to fall to the Earth s surface (Wilson, 2015 ). Precipitationin liquid from will include drizzle and raindrops. Snowflakes are formed by aggregation of solid ice crystals within a cloud, while hailstones are cooled water droplets and ice pellets. Warm clouds are explained as that do not extend to levels where temperatures are 32В°F, whereas cold clouds exist at part in temperatures that are below 32В°F (Wilson, 2015 ). Precipitation is the third step in the water cycle. The water cycle is a process in which water circulates between the Earth s oceans, atmosphere, and land. The water cycle involves precipitation such as rain, snow, drainage in streams and rivers, and then returns to the atmosphere by evaporation and transpiration. Evaporation is when the sun heats up the water in rivers, lakes, or oceans and turns it into vapor or steam (Guenther, 1998 2015). The water vapor or steam will leave the river, lake, or ocean and will go into the air. Condensation occurs when water vapor in the air gets cold and changes back into
  • 51. Destiny In Religion Religious traditions and beliefs sets form the core of knowledge and attitudes of a religion towards sometimes controversial topics; two of the often overlooked subjects in today s society are death and destiny. Each person s interpretations of their own religion s set beliefs can largely impact their own live and the way they see these topics. Reform Judaism, Orthodox Judaism and Catholicism have varied beliefs when it comes to their traditional teachings of death and destiny. Catholicism is one of the many braches of Christianity. The foundational text for the Catholicism is the Bible, which Catholics believe is the inspired, error free, and revealed word of God. However the Encyclical, Catechism and Magisterium are also teachings that guide Catholics look to for answers regarding death and destiny. One of the core beliefs of the catholic religion is that baptism, the rite of becoming a Catholic, is necessary for salvation. They also believe in the existence of the Holy Trinity. This is one God in three persons. Catholics embrace the beliefthat God, the one Supreme Being, is made up of three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Basic Beliefs of Catholicism, 2016). They also use Gods Ten Commandments as a moral compass or ethical standard to live by. The main ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Catholics believe that at death the soul is separated from the body and is judged immediately, and enters either heaven (immediately or through purgatory) or hell (Summaries of catholic teaching, 2014). They also believe that every soul will unite with its resurrected body just prior to the Last Judgment ( Judgment Day ) when Christ returns. Jewish sources are full of references to the fate that awaits us after we die. But you, go on to the end; you shall rest, and arise to your destiny at the end of the days. (Daniel
  • 52. Opal Mining Of Australi The Mining Capital Of The World Opal Mining in Australia Australia contains a lot of opal, especially in South Australia producing an estimated 95 97% of the world s opal supply. All of the opal mines in Australia are located in the Artesian Basin which contains many mining towns such as Lightning Ridge, Andamooka, White Cliffs and Coober Pedy, which has been called the mining capital of the world. All of these towns are situated in Australia s outback, the land mostly consisting of barren dry rock and dirt. But hiding in the endless dusty land and rocks are masses of Opal. Coober Pedy, Lightning Ridge, and Andamooka are home to many Opal mines, most of which are underground mines. The whole of Coober Pedy has many underground mines for opals extending out 40kms around the town with over 200,000 mine shafts which can be up to 27m deep. Andamooka another prominent mining town has 52km2 of mines both underground and open mines, three to ten meters deep into the seabed. In all of these rural mining towns there is not that much infrastructure due to the small populations and most residents will either be in the mining or tourism industry. This is good for mining as more of the land is able to use to mine the opals. In Coober Pedy a lot of residents live in underground homes called dugouts because of the harsh hot weather in Coober Pedy. This meant that there was no concern for the underground mines as they did not interfere with residential living space, in fact many homes were made out of old mines. There

The Theme of Dehumanization in Breakfast of Champions Essay The Theme of Dehumanization in Breakfast of Champions Dear Sir, poor sir, brave sir: You are an experiment by the Creator of the Universe. (Vonnegut 259) Imagine if this was addressed to you. What an awful feeling of betrayal and loneliness you would no doubt get. But what if next you heard this? You are the only creature in the entire Universe who has free will. You are the only one who has to figure out what to do next and why. Everybody else is a robot, a machine. (Vonnegut 259) Surely you would feel like your entire existence was a big joke, one at your expense. You would feel desensitized, remote, and detached from all human feeling. You would be a poor victim, someone taken hold of by the cold grasp of dehumanization. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is where Kilgore Trout and Dwayne Hoover are destined to meet. The story is set in New York around 1973. It follows Trout s journey from Cohoes to Midland City, and Hoover s dysfunctional daily routine while Trout is doing so. Trout makes his way by getting a ride with a truck driver and during the ride, as well as the whole trip, his mind wanders to fanciful stories of science fiction. Destiny, as it were, brings Trout and Hoover together near the end of the book. This is where Trout turns Hoover into a homicidal maniac. There are a few motifs that Vonnegut uses to drive in the theme of dehumanization in his book. Sex is one of the most apparent motifs used. It is also one of the most sacred things we have as humans. We use it for recreation1 and we also use it to recreate. Vonnegut uses our sexual urges to tear us apart and make us seem mechanical and routine. He reduces us to nothing less than a fucking machine . (Vonnegut 280) Kilgore Trout s literature for example, is filler for pornographic books and magazines. His works of art are featured in publications, which advertise Wide Open Beavers Inside . (Vonnegut 22) It fills such a need, this machine, says Trout of a film projector in an adult theater, and it s so easy to operate. (Vonnegut 69) Another motif that is used
  • 54. Description Of A Golf At Seattle, Should They Charge... Stuart McClelland and Adam Mcarthur Econ 382, Professor Ellis 6 December 2016 Golf in Seattle, Should they Charge Seasonal Rates? Executive Summary: There are 22 Seattle golf courses included in the sample data. The public courses do not charge seasonal green fees, charging one rate no matter the weather or temperature. Our goal is to derive the demand function for gold courses in relation to the price, as well as a best estimate of the demand function for specifically the MGS courses. Furthermore, we will use the data to advise MGS on the benefits of constructing additional driving ranges and paving paths for golf carts, and if these will lead to an increase of revenue. Finally, we will provide insight on whether the elasticity of demand for golf courses is seasonal in nature, and if the implementation of seasonal rates will lead to an increase of revenue. We first started by examining the different variables in relation to rounds, and seeing their corresponding p values. Since YARD, RANGE, and WINTER*FEE all have insignificant p values, we remove them from our model in order to increase the accuracy, Using the Wald test, we confirm they are irrelevant to the model, and are taken out. Then, using our new model, we must test for heteroscedasticity using the White test. We find there is, and so we adjust our model accordingly. Finally, we reanalysed all the variables and made sure they were all still logically correct, and conclude our model is BLUE. From here, we computed
