challenging endeavor. The difficulty lies in the delicate balance between creativity and precision
required to hook the reader effectively. Developing compelling hooks demands a thorough
understanding of the subject matter, as well as an awareness of the target audience's preferences
and sensitivities.
Firstly, the process begins with extensive research to identify examples that not only align with

technicalities of crafting hooks but in the synthesis of persuasive elements to create a seamless
and compelling essay.

Oil Embargo
The calamitous destruction of World War II promised to revolutionize the
international order to create lasting peace, but, while peace and friendly relations
were established between most of the former Axis and Allied states, the world
overall joined the new Cold War paradigm. In addition to the Cold War, the 1948
establishment of Israelintroduced a new, destabilizing dynamic to the increasingly
important Middle East. The creation of Israel also represented the dissolution of one
of the final vestiges of British imperialism in the Middle East. With the British unable
and unwilling to project power in the Middle East to any substantive degree, the
United States slowly but surely integrated itself into the political and economic
systems of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the ensuing economic crisis hitting not only the US but Japan, the UK, and
others in the Western bloc, American options were limited. The American
government didn t conceive of an embargo as even a possibility. In a May 11, 1970
intelligence briefing outlining oil politics over the next decade, the US
government only realistically envisioned small oil supply interruptions from Iraq
and Libya. However, it did recognize the Western bloc s vulnerability to price
spikes, estimating that an increase of $5 per barrel would increase the Western
Europe, Japan, and the US s aggregate import bill to ~ $74 billion (in 1973 dollars).
These estimations didn t impact American foreign and economic policy, so the US
didn t make proper contingency plans or organize a united Western energy policy
which weakened its bargaining position. When the Saudi led OAPEC coalition
threatened Japan, which met 71% of its energy needs by importing oil, with the
same harsh measures, they were able to extract a verbal concession impelling the
return to the pre 1967 borders and the Palestinian right to self determination. What
they couldn t extract was severing Israeli Japanese diplomatic and economic ties to
Israel as well as material support for the

Cornelius Vanderbilt is one of the five tycoons of America. He was able to use
both wit and his entrepreneurial skills in order to create a very successful career

As for Gibbons and Vanderbilt, the two lowered their rates, applied services, and
also tried out new technologies which all help lead them to become hugely profitable.
And in 1829, Vanderbilt left Gibbons to increase his own business.
Vanderbilt created his own steamship company. With a fleet of boats and a budget of
$30,000 or roughly $775,000 today, Vanderbilt successfully established a company
along the Hudson River. He used his usual tactic, reduced fare prices, to stir away
any competitors. He then expanded between New York and New England and Long
Island. What helped his business to flourish was through customer s loyalty. Because
Vanderbilt was known to have reliable, safe and cheap steamboats, Cornelius
Vanderbilt s company skyrocketed. In 1830, Vanderbilt entered the Hudson River
market and competed against Steamboat Association. Due to Vanderbilt s success,
Steamboat Association purchased his Hudson River company for $150,000 in total.
Because of the success he had, Vanderbilt went to Long Island for another round. His
business tactic and customer loyalty served him in the right way.
The Gold Rush, where many go to California in hopes for gold, allowed Vanderbilt
to begin an ocean going service, between West Coast and Central America. At the
time, Clipper ship was predominantly the best type of transportation. However
Pugs
I. Introduction
There is no other breed like the Pug. Not only does he look distinctive, but he has a
character like no other. His furrowed brow may make him appear perpetually
worried, but beneath the wrinkles lies a happy go lucky dog with a clown like
personality.
Ask Pug owners to describe their dogs, and the same words crop up time and again:
loving , intelligent , alert , and inquisitive. However, one word appears more than
any other fun ! This is a dog that will keep you amused for hours with his antics, and
who will thrive on your smiles and laughter.
Once you have shared your home and your life with one of these unique dogs, you
will understand the breed motto: Multum in parvo a lot of dog in a small place!

Theories about the origin of the Pug have caused much debate over the years, some
thinking the breed to have developed in the far east, others thinking it developed in
Europe. It is now generally accepted that the pug originated in China, from where it
spread to Japan and later to Europe. III. Characteristic a. Color
The breed has a fine, smooth, soft, short and glossy coat that comes in a variety of
colors and a compact square body. Their coats determine their color that can be

Women And Courtship In The Taming Of The Shrew By
William...
How would a modern audience view this play in a different way to an audience in
Shakespeare s time, particularly in relation to the role and status of women and
attitudes to marriage and courtship?
Elizabethan society was created on the belief the woman had no right or control
over their own lives. Women had no choice in what their profession would be, as a
matter of fact they weren t allowed to have a profession such as medicine, politics
and law. The only places they were allowed to work were in domestic areas. This
essay will be focusing on the taming of the shrew with the role of status of women
and attitudes towards marriage and courtship during the Elizabethan era. In
Elizabethan society, all that women were considered of was the lower end of men
and the weaker gender.
Women and men s role in Elizabethan society is completely different to modern
society. The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeareshows exactly what the
attitudes were like. For example, the scene when Katherina is fighting with her
sister because Bianca has a number of suitors waiting for her but she refuses to tell
Katherina which one she prefers. Katherina gets angry and aggressive towards
Bianca because she doesn t give her an answer, Katherina starts to attack Bianca.
Their father enters into the room and says For shame, thou hilding of a devilish
spirit! Why dost thou wrong her that did ne er wrong thee? When did she cross thee
with a bitter word? Baptista is expressing why Katherina would
African American Male Enters The Criminal Judicial

As reported by the U.S. Justice Department, there has been significant increase in
incarcerated African American males, in comparison to Hispanic and White males. It
is believed that social interaction, area of residency, and social networks have major
influence on the increasing crime and incarceration rates of African Americanmales.
A larger portion of White males hold more positions within the U.S. Judicial
system than African American males who make up a larger population of prison
inmates and less involvement in legislation. This coincides with data suggesting
that African American s have lower percentages of receiving or obtaining higher
education, placing them in areas of low income and less opportunities. Social
inequality in the judicial system is questioned as well as demographics and
economics will be researched in order to provide in depth analysis of these national
percentages of African Americans. Additional research is conducted to investigate
circumstances once an African American male enters the criminal judicial system,
and a generational cycle of crime. There is more knowledge and potential
opportunities within the prison system versus the lack of resources these prisoners
would feel they would have upon their release. The Judicial system appears to be
White male dominated due to factors regarding higher education, as well as
opportunities or resources to pursue careers of higher statuses. The percentage of

Kaku is very optimistic with the Class I impossibilities because we have
technology that can make these impossibilities possible in near future. Let s take
an example regarding the psychokinesis section. Kaku mentioned about the
possibility of Radio enhanced or computer enhanced psychokinesis. Similarly,
Kaku mentioned that we are already able to develop a technology to implant
computer chips into the brain cells and we will be able to control the computer
(Physics of the Impossible 93). This shows that these types of impossibilities are
more realistic and more likely to be possible, and some of them are even possible
in this century. Let s consider the Robots, they already exist in the real world.
Kaku talks about creating a force field, and this makes sense in practical life as
well. If we can defect electrons in a magnetic field why won t be able to deflect a
bullet creating a field that can be able to do it. The US military force has already
tested a short gun based Force Field Technology . According to the Tech Times,
with the help of powerful magnets, the force field used to protect battleships
including X Wing and TIE fighters from the enemies laser cannon fires and blasters
can be recreated. This shows that the concept of Force Field is not just theoretical,
and likely to be practically possible in the year to come to make kaku s
Existentialist Views on Death Essay
Existentialist Views on Death
What is Existentialism?
Existentialism is a philosophy developed chiefly in the 20th century that attempts
find meaning in a seemingly meaningless world. The central theme of existentialism
is that an individual must assume all responsibilities for his or her acts of free will
without any absolute knowledge of what is right or wrong. Existentialism analyzes
this somewhat dismal situation mankind has been thrown into, and produces a
model for how an individual should live his or her life. However, why should
someone attempt to live a life of morals and meaning in a cold and indifferent world?
An analysis of existentialist views on death may lead to an answer to this question.
A Brief History of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He postulated that feelings of dread and anxiety are God s way of calling each
individual to make a commitment to a personally valid way of life (Akram).
A major contributor to modern existentialism is Martin Heidegger. His philosophy
developed out of a reaction to the rationalistic ideas of Edmund Husserl. Heidegger
maintained that humanity finds itself in a complicated and indifferent world, and an
individual will never know why they exist. Instead, humans need to find a goal and
follow it with passionate conviction, knowing that life is meaningless and that they
will eventually die. Heidegger emphasized the idea of being, particularly in his book
Sein und Tode. He expanded Kierkegaards idea of dread, by asserting that anxiety
leads to an individual s confrontation with nothingness and the impossibility of
justifying one s actions (Kemerling).
Jean Paul Sarte popularized the term existentialism by using it for his own
philosophy, which began in France and became internationally popular after World
War II. Sarte s philosophy is explicitly atheistic and pessimistic, declaring that human
beings need a rational basis for their lives but are unable to achieve one. He defined
nausea as an individual s recognition of pure contingency of the universe, and anguish
as the recognition of the total freedom of choice that an individual is confronted with
continuously. He strongly emphasized the freedom of choice and the
Time Management At The Same Time
Time Management I can hear some moms already groaning. Time is a scarce
resource for many moms. In the course of any given day, I keep wishing for more
hours. However, every one of us has been given the same number of hours. It s up
to you to organize and prioritize your activities for maximum success. If you don t
know how to multi task, I suggest you learn how to do it. The ability to multi task
will serve you well. I completed a few online tests while breastfeeding at the same
time. The key was to be fully prepared and have everything I needed to complete
the test in front of me. I discovered I could get a lot of stuff done at the same time
with a little bit of creativity. I m convinced that moms are the most creative people
on the planet. It s amazing what we can come up with when our backs are against
the wall. To achieve your goal, you must learn to schedule work, classes, study
time, and sleep time or risk burning out. Some single moms work fulltime and
attend college part time, or go to school fulltime and work part time. Staying
organized is essential for success. I suggest you use a calendar to keep track of
when assignments are due. Use a planner to keep track of your activities and stay
organized. Don t wait until the last minute to complete assignments since that would
only add more pressure to your life. It may also affect the quality of your work. Do
you think I m talking from experience? Can I be real for a moment? I admit this

Effects Of Kevin Rudd s Apology In Australia
On February 13th 2008, the Prime Minister of Australia, Kevin Rudd, finally
apologised on behalf of Australia, to the Stolen Generation for the terrible events that
occurred in 1960 s and 1970 s where many Aboriginal children had been forced away
from their families. This report first shows a deeper understanding of the event and its
outcomes. Then, it looks at what effect it had on Aboriginal communities. Then it
looks at what it has done to help other Indigenous communities around the globe.
Finally, the report shows how the apology was, to a lesser extent, ineffective.

America Needs Change, But Why Not Start With The...
America needs change, but why not start with the Canadians?
It was a few years ago, and I had gone grocery shopping with my mother. I d always
shop with her just so I could get out of the house, walk around, and pick out food
that I wouldn t have thought of for the grocery list. My mother was a conservative
person. She had grown up on a farm in a small town where change would least
occur. She was a spiteful person whose insecurities led her judgments. Despite her
animosity to most things, she would tell me stories to inform me on matters she
finds important, like how much money I should save for a car, or how she earned
a high credit score. On our way home from the grocery store, she decided to tell me a
story she heard from her coworker. My coworker, she has a pool in her backyard,
and one day she found the black neighbor s kids swimming in her pool. She told
them that they should ask to use her pool and told their mom, but their mom said,
and my mother used her best, yet ear aching impression of a black woman and
belted: you ain t using no pool! We can use it all we want! She decided to follow her
story with also, I m going to refer to black people as Canadians. That way no one
complains about it. Nobody cares what the actual Canadians, so my coworker found
Canadians in her pool.
I nodded silently because I had always found her racism distasteful. I had been quite
used to her prejudice, so it was natural for me to passively await her to stop. At the

Welfare Reform And The Welfare System
All throughout history welfare services have been available to the general public.
While these benefits have changed over time, the basic intentions of the welfare
system has stayed the same. The welfare system provides benefits and monetary
assistance to those who qualify. Different acts over the past two hundred years have
been amended in order to try to help the poor, and while not all have been practical
and successful, many programs have indeed done an outstanding job in aiding those
in need. But, just like with all good things, there is a negative side. Even with all the
reforms to try perfect the welfaresystem there are still some holes in it. Not only is
the welfare system easy to manipulate, according to usgovernmentspending.com,
eleven percent of the federal budget is spent on welfare, leaving tax payers livid.
(usgovspending.com) It s obvious there is a need for a welfare system in the
United States, but with the abuse the welfare system has endured a major change
needs to be seen in order to ensure the welfare system be used as efficiently as
possible. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, welfare is defined as a
government program for poor or unemployed people that helps pay for their food,
housing, medical costs, etc. (Dictionary) Some of these programs include; Food
Stamps, Medicaid, Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Supplemental Security
Income (SSI), Head Start, Medicare, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families
(TANF), and Work Study.
All City Choir Essay
There s a bigger song emerging from the music wing this year, but even though the
women s choir has more than doubled from the 36 girls in the fall of 2012 to the 82
girls enrolled this fall, choir director Elliot Kranz said that teaching that many girls
at one time isn t any different than teaching any other ensemble. There are just
more girls. He said he believes there are a number of reasons for such an increase
in numbers in the group. One is because of the success of the women s choir in the
past. The All City Choir event including secondary students is also a reason students
are motivated to to do choir after seeing the CFHS choir perform. The two junior

Any time you add numbers, it makes it more difficult to sing in tune and sound
like one voice. But we work on this from day one in rehearsal, and hopefully our
hard work pays off throughout the year. He said he does not think that having so
many girls will be any type of problem and hopes that the choir will keep increasing
every year. Junior Anna Stillman said she thinks it s awesome to have so many
girls in the choir and they are starting to sing very well as a group, although at
times it is hard to have a good balance of sound with so many voices at one time. It
can be distracting at times. I love choir, and when other people continue to talk
while we are trying to sing and learn new pieces, it can be distracting. But in the
long run, Stillman also said she thinks that having more girls in choir will make
them better as a whole because they have a lot of strong upperclassmen singers and
some very talented sophomores with good voices coming to help them out.
Stillman chose to take choir again this year because, I ve always really enjoyed
singing and did it in junior high for two years and decided to try it again in the high
school, and I m so happy I did. It s been so much fun, and Mr. Kranz is a great
Adam and Eve and Temptation Essay

Temptation Temptation has been around since the conception of our Earth. All
civilizations, including the Egyptians, the Greeks, the Romans, the British, and even
modern day individuals, have fallen victim to temptations that the world offers. John
Owen described temptation as a knife, that may either cut the meat or the throat of a
man; it may be his food or his poison, his exercise or destruction. A temptation is an
act that appears enticing to an individual, but is usually coupled with damaging
implications that may lead to feelings of regret and remorse. A person may fall victim
to temptation when he lacks the self control to avoid enticing situations and is ...

Temptation is also rabid in most high school settings. Sex, illegal drugs, alcohol,
cheating, and tobacco are all temptations students are faced with on a daily basis.
Teenagers must each make personal decisions to either refrain from immoral conduct
or succumb to the temptations of peer pressure, usually with the hopes of being
accepted. The temptations of potentially destructive decisions are immense. It takes
a strong willed individual to stand up against the majority and hold true to his
values. Not bowing to temptation is a difficult task for any person, but especially for
a high school student who is more worried about his own popularity and appearance
and has yet to grow his moral fibers. The temptations that the youth of our modern
culture experience are very appealing, but their consequences are more damaging
than ever before. Temptation surrounds our lives. Daily, we make decisions to either
surrender to it or to persevere against it. It takes courage, bravery, and discipline to
withstand temptation. William Butler Yeatswrote that Every conquering temptation
represents a new found moral energy. Every trial endured and weathered in the right
spirit makes a soul nobler and stronger than it was before. When an individual
overcomes the temptation of participating in an immoral act, he grows as a person
and becomes morally stronger. With the knowledge of the results of a bad decision, a

Why Did African Americans Resist Slavery
Another great part of the African culture that was brought to America and kept in
practice through African American slaves was religion. An article titled Slave
Resistance and Rhetorical Self Definition: Spirituals as a Strategy states that African
American slaves used their spirituals to provide themselves with a rhetorical self
definition that served to refute limiting definitions pressed on them by whites (
Sanger 1) Religionallowed Africans and African Americans to not only preserve
something that was a part of their culture, but also allowed them to have hope and

An article titled How Did Slaves Resist Slavery by author Lisa Vox explains that
some slaves would runaway temporarily while others would runaway permanently.
The slaves that would run away for a short period of time would hide in forests or
go see a spouse on another plantation. The slaves that would runaway permanently
believed that if they followed the North Star it would lead them to freedom. The
article also states that slaves would runaway to escape a harsh punishment that had
been threatened, to obtain relief from a heavy workload, or just to escape the
drudgery of everyday life under slavery (Vox 2) I can imagine that runaway took a
great deal of bravery for the slaves. Possibly having to leave their families or even
the possibility of them getting caught could lead them to extremely harsh
punishments or even to their death bed. It is very admirable the depths that they
would take to stand up for themselves and go against their masters in search for their

John Brown Research Paper
Hello Everyone,
John Brown was a revolutionary abolitionist who felt very strongly about ending
slavery. He was born in 1800 and died in 1859. His birthplace was Torrington,
Connecticut. He belonged to a very loving family with very strong anti slavery
beliefs. He tied the knot twice and brought forth 20 children from those unions.
Brown had several business endeavors that failed. In 1842 he filed bankruptcy. He
began working as a conductor with the Underground Railroad in order to support
the abolitionist cause. He also started the League of Gileadites, which was organized
to aid runaway slaves fleeing to Canada. He later moved to a free black farming
community in New York.
In 1856, at the age of 55, Brown and his sons moved to Kansas Territory, John Brown
accompanied by a small army of his four sons and two other men set out along the
Pottawatomie Creek and brutally murdered five men and boys whom they believed
were promoting slavery. Later on Brown raided Missouri, where he murdered a slave
owner and freed 11 of his slaves. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Theme Of Melancholy In Hamlet
William Shakespeare uses melancholy throughout Hamlet to emphasize the pains that
Hamlet faced following the death of his father. Many historians and literatus would
say that Shakespeare s writings have an underlying meaning and relate to his
personal life in more ways than one. Excessive use of melancholy is one of the
many ways William Shakespeare shows how he truly feels and acknowledges how
everything Hamletis lead to do is because he is victim of melancholy.
At the start of the play, Hamlet was inundated with a sadness that could only be the
consequence of the murder of his father. William Shakespeare uses examples of
Hamlet s sadness from his father s death to directly characterize Hamlet as a victim
of excessive melancholy. In act one, scene one we get a depiction of Hamlet s
character as he is addressing his mother and her husband, King Claudius. The King
and Queen notice something has changed in Hamlet; he is constantly sad, dressed
in all black, and talks in a depressing tone. Hamlet was driven into this state because
of the death of his own father, King Hamlet. Hamlet describes the grief and pain he
is undergoing by saying, I have that within which passes show. (Act I, Scene i,
lines 84 86.) Furthermore, Hamlet is stating, I have more grief inside me than you
could ever see. From the very start of the play, Shakespeare makes a point to
characterize Hamlet as a victim of excessive melancholy and was delivered into a
great despair from the death of his father.
Following the introduction of Hamlet in act one, scene one by his parents, we are
freshly introduced to the extensive melancholy Hamlet has become victim to in act
one, scene five in one of his soliloquies. Shakespeare starts this soliloquy by using
repetition of Hamlet s thought of suicide to explain his undying depression and
why he is a victim of excessive melancholy. Hamlet finds himself alone in which he
starts to describe the tortures he feels within. Hamlet makes the infamous remark,
that many historians use to acknowledge Hamlet s melancholy, How weary, stale,
flat, and unprofitable seem to me all the uses of this world. (Act I, Scene ii, lines =
133 134.) Hamlet feels no use in this world and even says that he would kill
Factors That Affect The Health Of Their Cattle Essay
Analytic Phase In the situation, we know that farmers are concerned about the health
of their cattle, but it will be important for the organization to investigate why. There
may be a forecasted increase of six thousand tests during the next period, but will that
persist throughout the future or will it be a one period situation is an important
consideration. At this point, utilizing the decision support method of evidence based
management that question could come to light. According to Nahavandi, Denhardt,
and Denhardt (2014), the cause effect component of this decision making technique
can help conclude through statistics if farmers are more concerned about their cattle s
health because more appear sickly or if the local farmers have increased the
population of cattle within the businesses market region. To further expand on this
thinking, if more cattle are becoming sick the question of why should be considered
as this will determine if the problem is long term, short term, or seasonal. These
considerations will influence various alternatives for the organization. First and
foremost, the consideration of the organization actually doing anything to
accommodate the forecast must be determined since a forecast is an estimation that
something will occur versus a guarantee. If a reaction is considered then specific
considerations relating to the estimated increase in tests perform must be thought out.
Most importantly, how would the organization handle the increased production?

malnutrition related causes each year (Sanchez and Swaminathan, 2005).
According to FAO (2013,pp8 15) most recent estimates indicate that. globally,842
million people 12 percent of the global population were unable to meet their
dietary energy requirements in 2011 2013, down from 868 million reported for the
2010 2012 period in last year s report. Thus, around one in eight people in the world
are likely have suffered from chronic hunger, not having enough food for an active
and healthy life. The vast majority of hungry people 827 million of them live in
developing regions, where the prevalence of undernourishment is estimated now at
14.3 percent in 2011 2013. Currently, the food insecurity still is a serious global
problem. Especially for developing countries, there are some countries has been
undernourishment by it. The number of people has been the problem which lacks
food to eat. Therefore, the developing country government is trying to find a beast
way to solve this intractable problem. Finally, this essay will discuss how water is

Political Climate In Public Administration
In 1932, in response to the economic depression, President Franklin D. Roosevelt,
promised the people a new deal. The new deal was intended to provide much needed
relief, recovery, and reform to the American people, by seeking to stabilize the
economy and provide jobs to those who were suffering. It forced a change in the
structure of American governmentand pushed it to play a bigger role in the financing
of social programs. This new reform changed how government functioned at the state
and federal levels and introduced new ideas of centralization, management, planning,
efficiency measurement, and new forms of social programs. It was during this time,
that management in the U.S., was recognized as its own discipline and introduced the
political approach to public administration.
Political Climate of the 1930s 1950s, an Overview of Public Administration Theories
of Chester Bernard, Luther Gulick, and Robert K. Morton
Introduction
The purpose of this essay is to explore and compare the theoretical perspectives of
theorists Charles E. Lindblom, Chester Bernard and Luther Gulick, and their impact
on the creation and approach to the science of administration. In the early years,
influences from authors Woodrow Wilson, Frank Goodnow, L D White, and F.W.
Willoughby, and their philosophies of public administration helped to reaffirm the
need to separate the political functions and administrative functions of the
government. However, following WWII, the opposition to

Even though the black market seems like a good place to get the things you need
for a cheap price, there is a bad side to anything you may find on the black market.
The black market is a bad place and is full of illegal drugs, human trafficking, and
ancient artifacts.
Through the 1950s most black market sales took place at outdoor markets or bazaars.
Having emerged during World War 1 in response to the regulation of prices and
supplies, the black market burgeoned after the Bolshevik seizure of power.
Some pros of the whole market is it helps make people money, helps people get the
things they need at a cheaper price. Some people depend on the black market to live.

Due to the difficulty of sizing up explicit drug sales, there s not even a cheap

In the case of Richard Sacra, U.S. based physician Kent Brantly donated his personal

a high level of medical intervention, serums such as ZMAPP may help lower the

Blue Orb Recycling And Recycling Reduction
Executive Summary
Blue Orb Recycling is one of Minnesota s leaders in recycling and waste reduction.
The company accepted a diverse arrangement of programs and incentives to
achieve a recycling rate of 37%. While this recycling rate is high, Blue Orb
Recycling has adopted a far more enthusiastic goal of 50%, to meet the goals of the
state of Minnesota. Executives have chosen to focus on programs that will enable
them to achieve their 50% recycling rate.
Blue Orb Recycling was created to address the growing concern of the increase in
waste and the minimal amount of recycling that was taking place. The typical
materials that are derived from the waste that ends up at the Blur Orb plant include
various types of metals, plastic, paper and cardboard. These materials make up a
large component of the recycling industry. There are economic benefits that Blue
Orb takes advantage of in regards to recycling rather than letting all the waste go to
the landfill. There is a steady increase in the amount of buyers that enables recycling
companies to maintain a steady market growth for the business. We have focused
our business towards meeting the demands of the consumer and not solely on the
profits. Although, with the implementation of new programs over the years and the
work towards developing new ones, we have been able to retain customers and gain
new ones which drives our gross margins up. Blue Orb Recycling has drafted a
strategic plan to meet the needs of the business
Elon University Student Analysis
Throughout my college search, I have been looking for a school that possesses the
qualities that are of utmost importance to me. I want a medium sized school that
acts as a tight knit community with excellent academics and limitless opportunities.
Upon entering Elon University for the first time, I felt as if I were home even
though I was miles away from Uxbridge, Massachusetts. During my tour, I saw all
those qualities in Elon and I was able to envision myself growing as a studentand
professional. I have never been able to conceptualized myself anywhere else as
strongly as I did here. The acorn tradition at Elon Universitytruly captured the essence

The many clubs and organizations I could be a part of would give me the
capability to expand my leadership skills and would help me become a pioneer in
innovative thinking. At Elon, I would be viewed as a person, not a number.
Because of small class sizes and the emphasis on the individual student, I am
reassured that my professors will be there for me throughout my academic
successes and failures. I felt valued and encouraged to broaden my horizons while
I was exploring the campus on the tour. It is not easy for me to partake and
contribute in classroom discussions, which has caused me to struggle throughout
my academic career. Upon meeting the faculty with whom I could potentially be
engaging with, I knew I could exceed my knowledge, grasp the ideology within the
classroom by relating it to the outside world, and grow as a student and
professional. Elon University is the university for me, which is why I am applying

Narrative Essay On Waiting On God
Dreaming with God is a beautiful gift from Him, and although questions filled my
limited mind, my capacity to comprehend, I owe everything to the Lord whose
grace and love abundantly flows. A series of parabolic dreams and clear visions
flooded my sleep nights, and what the Lord apparently conveyed has created a mixed
feeling of excitement and confusion.
Inquisitiveness to understand the mysteries of the night parables led me to dig
deeper into His word. But I couldn t seem to weave the thread together the way it
should a sizeable amount of thread was missing. Prayers for help and wisdom
became my expressions and it was in this season of waiting that I have learned a
valuable lesson:
Waiting on God is not a passive move we have to deliberately seek His Word with an
attitude of meekness and rely on the Spirit of God to illuminate hidden things.
One specific dream has baffled me for a long time.
Looking at these two kinds of trees in the garden that were parallel to each other has
created curiosity within. The tree on the left was radiantly shining, abundantly
flourishing with green foliage and strong branches, which reflect goodness and
vitality. The other tree on the right was the exact opposite, dead and wilted, and not
one leaf on the branches remains. While gazing on these two trees, trying to analyze
what I was seeing, I heard a voice that said the word nation .
The sound of this voice woke me up mystified. I prayed and sought the meaning of

Comparing McCarthyism and The Crucible by Arthur
Miller Essay
Authors used their literary work to get a point across to the public in the story The
Crucible; Arthur Miller used events and characters to show the similarities to
McCarthyism which was prevalent in the 1950s. McCarthyism was associated with
the period in the United Sates also known as the Second Red Scare. McCarthyismis
very similar in the way that Joe McCarthy accused Americans of being communist
and in The Crucible people were being accused of being witches. It is known that
Arthur Miller wrote this story as a reaction to a tragic time in our history.
In both situations people were accused and were found guilty with not much proof.
You would think that the judges would dismiss a case when there wasn t much proof.

People lost their jobs and careers went bad and even imprisonment occurred.
McCarthy held hearings called the Hollywood Blacklist, which had to do with The
House Committee on Un American Activities and anti communist activities with the
FBI.
McCarthyism had great effects on different levels of society, involving conflict
and many arguments. This relates to The Crucible in the sense that the way
people were acting changed dramatically, different and weird because they knew or
thought that witches were around. It destroyed people s relationships, caused
chaos in church and separation between people. People supported Abigail and
Rev.Parris in different types of ways. For example when Abigail would say
something and even when it was not true the girls would all follow her moves and
lie for her. McCarthyism was supported by many different groups, including a lot of
anti communist organizations, there was no solid number for the victims of
McCarthyism, and people who were imprisoned were around the hundreds and ten to
twelve thousand lost their jobs. In The Crucible some were hung and many were
being imprisoned nonstop and everyone was being called a witch, even with no
proof. They searched for perverts and ended up in thousands being harassed and
denied employment. In The Crucible John Proctor and Abigail had a quiet affair and
Background Information On Drinking Water Treatment
Background Information
Microbiological parameters in drinking water treatment include enteric protozoa,
bacteria, virus, etc. Cryptosporidium, being a type of enteric protozoa, has caused
several outbreaks in the last century. Cryptosporidiosis is the human disease caused
by cryptosporidium infection, of which major symptoms are watery diarrhea,
stomach pains or cramps and low fever. Between 1974 and 2001, there have been 12
outbreaks that are attributable to cryptosporidium in Canada.4 Between 1984 and
2000, 10 outbreaks were reported to be associated with cryptosporidium in drinking
water in the United States.4 The most severe outbreak took place in Milwaukee in
1993 that was associated with 419,000 (estimated) cases of illnesses including watery
diarrhea.3
Such high frequency of outbreaks is partly due to the common presence of
cryptosporidium oocysts in the environment. Oocyst is the most important stage of
cryptosporidium life cycle, which has thick cell walls that allow it to survive in the
environment for long enough to find its host. Reproduction takes place inside the
host and newly reproduced cryptosporidium will exit the host into the environment in
feces, in the form of oocyst. It is an everlasting cycle where cryptosporidium goes
back and forth between water and hosts, and its presence persists.
Studies show that cryptosporidium is present across Canada in many major water
bodies. In 2000, there are on average 14 oocysts per 100 litre of water in Saint

Stellar Measurements and Lutgen and Tarbuck s Method
of...
It is important to know the positions of things to best understand our own personal
views. Measuring stellar distances is an interesting and complex method of
attempting this positioning. The purpose of this essay is to explain how distances of
stars are calculated. The essay will also comment on the units of measurement and the
limitations of the methods used to calculate this information.
Lutgen and Tarbuck (2011) expressed a lack of certainty and confidence in the
methods to calculate stellar distances. They wrote measuring the distance to a star is
difficult. Obviously, we cannot journey to the star, and even if we had an extremely
powerful laser ranger finder, it would take over eight years to receive the signal from
the nearest star, (p.458). Nevertheless curiosity forces science to make some sort of
model to help us understand where we are in the universe.
The method of measuring the stars that has been developed is dependent upon the
phenomenon of parallax. Parallax requires the modeler to take specific measurements
from different, equidistant locations from the point, or star, in question. Using this
information, and the geometrical theories that support, parallax, astronomers may
now map the cosmos.
Unfortunately, this method can only give scientists fairly rough estimates. The
triangles that are formed from the three points of measurement create distorted shapes
that can only create extremely minute or tiny angles that become components of

DISPLAY, MULTIMEDIA AND PERFORMANCE
Well at the end of the day Performance is what matters .
The Moto X comes with a 4.7 inch AMOLED display, which has a great outdoor
visibility and takes brightness to all new level. The display has excellent viewing
angles and a contrast output. But as it is Amoled display we do get that bluish tint.
The X can handle whatever type of media you throw at it, even after considering
that it ranks low spec sheet. You can playback full HD 1080p videos without even a
single lag or stutter. The speakerphone is not best in class but still it is fairly loud,
and you won t require additional speakers. The 3.5 mm jack has refined output.
The Moto X is designed to breathe Android, and device dies exactly that. No doubt
when it comes to hardware Moto X is unfortunately limited to only a dual core
processor, an average user won t feel the need of this. However if you are super user
and stay glued to your smartphone 24*7 then Moto X is not a handset you may be

Britain And The American Colonies
There is always a difference between the ones that conquer and the ones that are
conquered. In this case, Britain and the American colonies developed great gaps
during time, not only religious, economical and finally cultural. The beginning of this
separation between the colonists and Britain runs deep. The Britain crown didn t
invest directly in the search of colonies in the Americasand by doing so, it gave the
colonist a lose rope to start developing a new vision.
The colonists had little or nothing to report directly to the crown and what they
reported could take months to reach Britain and even more for Britain to do
something about it. The vision that Britain developed from America is the response
to the vision that is created during the first years of the colony. A wild land with
abundance of resources that can generate a profit to the empire. In this vision the
colonies are not seen as part of the empire. It is a land that it is in the power of
Britain s to be used as they see fit. This would generate big problems in the future
when the population and popularity of the colonies start to grow proportionally with
the profit that the colonies generate.
The fact that the Britain government did not have a strong presence in the colonies is
the first step to a new mentality. Of course, the change of mentality took generations,
and even when the general population respected the Britain crown, the devotion to a
king that an ocean away from the started to create a
The Impact Of Sports On Women s Sports
Traditionally men have dominated the world of sports however in recent year s
women s sports have become popular and with their new found popularity, women s
sports have evolved into marketable leagues of their own. Although women s sports
took a huge leap forward, women players still don t receive the same financial
compensation for playing the same sports in the same arenas as their male
counterparts. In Purse Snatching by Donna Lopiano, she points out sexism may have
a huge effect on this financial discrepancy between women and men athletes.
Analyzing sports economics may point to a different reason why women are
receiving such a compensation disparity.
Women sports have come a long way, since the days when women were only
allowed to watch. The past three decades have witnessed a steady growth in
women s sports programs in America along with a remarkable increase in the
number of women athletes (Daniel Frankl 2) From an early age women were
thought to be Lady Like ; they are told not to get all sweaty and dirty. Over 200
years later since Maud Watson stepped on the tenniscourts of Wimbledon (Sports
Media digest 3); women now compete in all types and levels of sports from softball
to National racing. Soccer fans saw Mia Hamm become the face of Women s soccer

tennis, and Indy car racing had their first woman racer, Danika Patrick. With all the

Theme Of Childhood In The Kite Runner
I realized the impact of a setting on childhood when I went to India as a 6 year old
child with my family. As we walked on the streets outside the mall one evening, I
saw a little boy lifting rocks and begging for money outside. I remember asking my
dad why a kid like me was suffering so much. He explained to me that although the
political climate in India evolved from a social caste system, the views from society
have not evolved as much. The prejudice resembles one similar seen in Afghanistan.
In the novel The Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseinidisplays the growth of fascism and
the manner in which it can drastically dehumanize a childhood. He does so in a three
very distinct time periods. First, during Soviet takeover, then Afghan Revolution,...

This passage does an excellent job showing how the Russian would stoke fear into
the life of Afghans and regulate their life. When the author says that the Russian

in Chapter 10 by showing the stigma created by the Russians. You couldn t trust

Types Of Anesthesia As A Patient
What is anesthesiology? Breaking this word down will help define it, that way it is
easier to understand. In medical terms, the word anesthesiology is constructed of
three different words, each having a specific definition: an is defined as being
without, or the absence ; esthesia means feeling ; and ology is defined as the study
of. So when these three words are constructed together it is defined as the study of the
absence of feeling. Knowing that definition of anesthesiology is one thing, but there
are other things that must be known, such as the different types of anesthesia. There
are several types of anesthesia. The form of anesthesia a patient will receive will be
determined by the medical state and the surgical procedure the patient will undergo.
Along with anesthetics, a patient may receive a sedative administered by the
anesthesiologist. The three main forms of anesthesia include: local anesthesia;
regional anesthesia; and general anesthesia.
Local anesthesia is used when a patient is undergoing a minimally invasive
procedure like a port placement, or some carpal injections. The most common
forms of local anesthesia are: infiltration anesthesia; nerve blocks; haematoma
blocks; intravenous regional block; and extradural and spinal anesthesia. These
procedures are relatively quick and rarely take longer than a few minutes. It is used
on a select area of the body to briefly stop the sense of pain. A benefit of local

John Berger
Many types of paintings exist in the world. While many are old, others are
relatively new and therefore are less famous. An original piece is the sum of an
artist s life s work, often containing a story unique to the viewer. Art is a language, a
snapshot of history, created by the artist. In a sense, the artist is an author, who makes
a point, or showcases certain hardships and tragedies. The author has built a various
network of roads, and the viewer is following the roads that suit their own journey
through the artwork. Where these paintings are original and unique, many artists
make copies of these paintings, known as reproductions. In John Berger s Ways of

Some paintings by modern artists are practically worthless as the artist is not famous,
therefore there is no demand for the paintings. The original paintings before replicas

The Problem Of A Teacher
Teachers are humans like the rest of us, and can be lazy. They can t always be
blamed for having an off day as we all have them, but sometimes teachers take
advantage of the fact that it s tougher to get fired as a teacher than a lot of other
jobs. When a teacher has been there for a long time, it can be a very difficult task
to get them fired if they re taking advantage of their tenure. A new teacher almost
always starts out great, happy, and very excited to teach their class. An issue is,
over time teachers can become lazy, as can people with other jobs. The issue with
a lazy teacher, though, is that the student s future is in the hands of the teacher.
When teachers are lazy, sometimes they ll give out what is called busy work, used
to waste time, and give them something to do while the teacher sits and does what
they want. There are two ways this is a huge issue: first, this doesn t help students
at all, meaning that the time they spent doing it helps get them nowhere, and is
completely pointless. Second, students can carelessly complete the work, and take
advantage of the teacher not caring. After time, a teacher not caring isn t a reason
for them being fired, due to the fact that they re a union, and unless they commit a
serious crime as shown on plenty of news stations, then they re free to do as they
please as long as they aren t necessarily breaking the law. Teaching can be one of the
toughest jobs out there, and many people take it as a job anyone can do.

Oil Embargo The calamitous destruction of World War II promised to revolutionize the international order to create lasting peace, but, while peace and friendly relations were established between most of the former Axis and Allied states, the world overall joined the new Cold War paradigm. In addition to the Cold War, the 1948 establishment of Israelintroduced a new, destabilizing dynamic to the increasingly important Middle East. The creation of Israel also represented the dissolution of one of the final vestiges of British imperialism in the Middle East. With the British unable and unwilling to project power in the Middle East to any substantive degree, the United States slowly but surely integrated itself into the political and economic systems of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the ensuing economic crisis hitting not only the US but Japan, the UK, and others in the Western bloc, American options were limited. The American government didn t conceive of an embargo as even a possibility. In a May 11, 1970 intelligence briefing outlining oil politics over the next decade, the US government only realistically envisioned small oil supply interruptions from Iraq and Libya. However, it did recognize the Western bloc s vulnerability to price spikes, estimating that an increase of $5 per barrel would increase the Western Europe, Japan, and the US s aggregate import bill to ~ $74 billion (in 1973 dollars). These estimations didn t impact American foreign and economic policy, so the US didn t make proper contingency plans or organize a united Western energy policy which weakened its bargaining position. When the Saudi led OAPEC coalition threatened Japan, which met 71% of its energy needs by importing oil, with the same harsh measures, they were able to extract a verbal concession impelling the return to the pre 1967 borders and the Palestinian right to self determination. What they couldn t extract was severing Israeli Japanese diplomatic and economic ties to Israel as well as material support for the

As for Gibbons and Vanderbilt, the two lowered their rates, applied services, and also tried out new technologies which all help lead them to become hugely profitable. And in 1829, Vanderbilt left Gibbons to increase his own business. Vanderbilt created his own steamship company. With a fleet of boats and a budget of $30,000 or roughly $775,000 today, Vanderbilt successfully established a company along the Hudson River. He used his usual tactic, reduced fare prices, to stir away any competitors. He then expanded between New York and New England and Long Island. What helped his business to flourish was through customer s loyalty. Because Vanderbilt was known to have reliable, safe and cheap steamboats, Cornelius Vanderbilt s company skyrocketed. In 1830, Vanderbilt entered the Hudson River market and competed against Steamboat Association. Due to Vanderbilt s success, Steamboat Association purchased his Hudson River company for $150,000 in total. Because of the success he had, Vanderbilt went to Long Island for another round. His business tactic and customer loyalty served him in the right way. The Gold Rush, where many go to California in hopes for gold, allowed Vanderbilt to begin an ocean going service, between West Coast and Central America. At the time, Clipper ship was predominantly the best type of transportation. However

  • 5. Women And Courtship In The Taming Of The Shrew By William... How would a modern audience view this play in a different way to an audience in Shakespeare s time, particularly in relation to the role and status of women and attitudes to marriage and courtship? Elizabethan society was created on the belief the woman had no right or control over their own lives. Women had no choice in what their profession would be, as a matter of fact they weren t allowed to have a profession such as medicine, politics and law. The only places they were allowed to work were in domestic areas. This essay will be focusing on the taming of the shrew with the role of status of women and attitudes towards marriage and courtship during the Elizabethan era. In Elizabethan society, all that women were considered of was the lower end of men and the weaker gender. Women and men s role in Elizabethan society is completely different to modern society. The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeareshows exactly what the attitudes were like. For example, the scene when Katherina is fighting with her sister because Bianca has a number of suitors waiting for her but she refuses to tell Katherina which one she prefers. Katherina gets angry and aggressive towards Bianca because she doesn t give her an answer, Katherina starts to attack Bianca. As reported by the U.S. Justice Department, there has been significant increase in incarcerated African American males, in comparison to Hispanic and White males. It is believed that social interaction, area of residency, and social networks have major influence on the increasing crime and incarceration rates of African Americanmales. A larger portion of White males hold more positions within the U.S. Judicial system than African American males who make up a larger population of prison inmates and less involvement in legislation. This coincides with data suggesting that African American s have lower percentages of receiving or obtaining higher education, placing them in areas of low income and less opportunities. Social inequality in the judicial system is questioned as well as demographics and economics will be researched in order to provide in depth analysis of these national percentages of African Americans. Additional research is conducted to investigate circumstances once an African American male enters the criminal judicial system, and a generational cycle of crime. There is more knowledge and potential opportunities within the prison system versus the lack of resources these prisoners would feel they would have upon their release. The Judicial system appears to be White male dominated due to factors regarding higher education, as well as opportunities or resources to pursue careers of higher statuses. This shows that these types of impossibilities are more realistic and more likely to be possible, and some of them are even possible in this century. Let s consider the Robots, they already exist in the real world. Kaku talks about creating a force field, and this makes sense in practical life as well. Existentialism is a philosophy developed chiefly in the 20th century that attempts find meaning in a seemingly meaningless world. The central theme of existentialism is that an individual must assume all responsibilities for his or her acts of free will without any absolute knowledge of what is right or wrong. Existentialism analyzes this somewhat dismal situation mankind has been thrown into, and produces a model for how an individual should live his or her life. However, why should someone attempt to live a life of morals and meaning in a cold and indifferent world? An analysis of existentialist views on death may lead to an answer to this question. A Brief History of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He postulated that feelings of dread and anxiety are God s way of calling each individual to make a commitment to a personally valid way of life (Akram). A major contributor to modern existentialism is Martin Heidegger. His philosophy developed out of a reaction to the rationalistic ideas of Edmund Husserl. Heidegger maintained that humanity finds itself in a complicated and indifferent world, and an individual will never know why they exist. Instead, humans need to find a goal and follow it with passionate conviction, knowing that life is meaningless and that they will eventually die. Heidegger emphasized the idea of being, particularly in his book Sein und Tode. He expanded Kierkegaards idea of dread, by asserting that anxiety leads to an individual s confrontation with nothingness and the impossibility of justifying one s actions (Kemerling). Jean Paul Sarte popularized the term existentialism by using it for his own philosophy, which began in France and became internationally popular after World War II. Sarte s philosophy is explicitly atheistic and pessimistic, declaring that human beings need a rational basis for their lives but are unable to achieve one. He defined nausea as an individual s recognition of pure contingency of the universe, and anguish as the recognition of the total freedom of choice that an individual is confronted with continuously. He strongly emphasized the freedom of choice and the

If you don t know how to multi task, I suggest you learn how to do it. The ability to multi task will serve you well. I completed a few online tests while breastfeeding at the same time. The key was to be fully prepared and have everything I needed to complete the test in front of me. I discovered I could get a lot of stuff done at the same time with a little bit of creativity. I m convinced that moms are the most creative people on the planet. It s amazing what we can come up with when our backs are against the wall. To achieve your goal, you must learn to schedule work, classes, study time, and sleep time or risk burning out. Some single moms work fulltime and attend college part time, or go to school fulltime and work part time. Staying organized is essential for success. I suggest you use a calendar to keep track of when assignments are due. Use a planner to keep track of your activities and stay organized. Don t wait until the last minute to complete assignments since that would only add more pressure to your life. It may also affect the quality of your work. Do you think I m talking from experience? Can I be real for a moment? I admit this sounds easy in theory but the

I d always shop with her just so I could get out of the house, walk around, and pick out food that I wouldn t have thought of for the grocery list. My mother was a conservative person. She had grown up on a farm in a small town where change would least occur. She was a spiteful person whose insecurities led her judgments. Despite her animosity to most things, she would tell me stories to inform me on matters she finds important, like how much money I should save for a car, or how she earned a high credit score. On our way home from the grocery store, she decided to tell me a story she heard from her coworker. • 18. Theme Of Melancholy In Hamlet William Shakespeare uses melancholy throughout Hamlet to emphasize the pains that Hamlet faced following the death of his father. Many historians and literatus would say that Shakespeare s writings have an underlying meaning and relate to his personal life in more ways than one. Excessive use of melancholy is one of the many ways William Shakespeare shows how he truly feels and acknowledges how everything Hamletis lead to do is because he is victim of melancholy. At the start of the play, Hamlet was inundated with a sadness that could only be the consequence of the murder of his father. William Shakespeare uses examples of Hamlet s sadness from his father s death to directly characterize Hamlet as a victim of excessive melancholy. In act one, scene one we get a depiction of Hamlet s character as he is addressing his mother and her husband, King Claudius. The King and Queen notice something has changed in Hamlet; he is constantly sad, dressed in all black, and talks in a depressing tone. Hamlet was driven into this state because of the death of his own father, King Hamlet. Hamlet describes the grief and pain he is undergoing by saying, I have that within which passes show. (Act I, Scene i, lines 84 86.) Furthermore, Hamlet is stating, I have more grief inside me than you could ever see. From the very start of the play, Shakespeare makes a point to characterize Hamlet as a victim of excessive melancholy and was delivered into a great despair from the death of his father. Following the introduction of Hamlet in act one, scene one by his parents, we are freshly introduced to the extensive melancholy Hamlet has become victim to in act one, scene five in one of his soliloquies. Shakespeare starts this soliloquy by using repetition of Hamlet s thought of suicide to explain his undying depression and why he is a victim of excessive melancholy. Hamlet finds himself alone in which he starts to describe the tortures he feels within. Hamlet makes the infamous remark, that many historians use to acknowledge Hamlet s melancholy, How weary, stale, flat, and unprofitable seem to me all the uses of this world. (Act I, Scene ii, lines = 133 134.) Hamlet feels no use in this world and even says that he would kill

Factors That Affect The Health Of Their Cattle Essay Analytic Phase In the situation, we know that farmers are concerned about the health of their cattle, but it will be important for the organization to investigate why. There may be a forecasted increase of six thousand tests during the next period, but will that persist throughout the future or will it be a one period situation is an important consideration. At this point, utilizing the decision support method of evidence based management that question could come to light. According to Nahavandi, Denhardt, and Denhardt (2014), the cause effect component of this decision making technique can help conclude through statistics if farmers are more concerned about their cattle s health because more appear sickly or if the local farmers have increased the population of cattle within the businesses market region. To further expand on this thinking, if more cattle are becoming sick the question of why should be considered as this will determine if the problem is long term, short term, or seasonal. These considerations will influence various alternatives for the organization. First and foremost, the consideration of the organization actually doing anything to accommodate the forecast must be determined since a forecast is an estimation that something will occur versus a guarantee. If a reaction is considered then specific considerations relating to the estimated increase in tests perform must be thought out. Most importantly, how would the organization handle the increased production?

But I couldn t seem to weave the thread together the way it should a sizeable amount of thread was missing. Prayers for help and wisdom became my expressions and it was in this season of waiting that I have learned a valuable lesson: Waiting on God is not a passive move we have to deliberately seek His Word with an attitude of meekness and rely on the Spirit of God to illuminate hidden things. One specific dream has baffled me for a long time. Looking at these two kinds of trees in the garden that were parallel to each other has created curiosity within. The tree on the left was radiantly shining, abundantly flourishing with green foliage and strong branches, which reflect goodness and vitality. The other tree on the right was the exact opposite, dead and wilted, and not one leaf on the branches remains. Background Information On Drinking Water Treatment Background Information Microbiological parameters in drinking water treatment include enteric protozoa, bacteria, virus, etc. Cryptosporidium, being a type of enteric protozoa, has caused several outbreaks in the last century. Cryptosporidiosis is the human disease caused by cryptosporidium infection, of which major symptoms are watery diarrhea, stomach pains or cramps and low fever. Between 1974 and 2001, there have been 12 outbreaks that are attributable to cryptosporidium in Canada.4 Between 1984 and 2000, 10 outbreaks were reported to be associated with cryptosporidium in drinking water in the United States.4 The most severe outbreak took place in Milwaukee in 1993 that was associated with 419,000 (estimated) cases of illnesses including watery diarrhea.3 Such high frequency of outbreaks is partly due to the common presence of cryptosporidium oocysts in the environment. Oocyst is the most important stage of cryptosporidium life cycle, which has thick cell walls that allow it to survive in the environment for long enough to find its host. Reproduction takes place inside the host and newly reproduced cryptosporidium will exit the host into the environment in feces, in the form of oocyst. It is an everlasting cycle where cryptosporidium goes back and forth between water and hosts, and its presence persists. Studies show that cryptosporidium is present across Canada in many major water bodies. In 2000, there are on average 14 oocysts per 100 litre of water in Saint Lawrence

Measuring stellar distances is an interesting and complex method of attempting this positioning. The purpose of this essay is to explain how distances of stars are calculated. The essay will also comment on the units of measurement and the limitations of the methods used to calculate this information. Lutgen and Tarbuck (2011) expressed a lack of certainty and confidence in the methods to calculate stellar distances. They wrote measuring the distance to a star is difficult. Obviously, we cannot journey to the star, and even if we had an extremely powerful laser ranger finder, it would take over eight years to receive the signal from the nearest star, (p.458). Nevertheless curiosity forces science to make some sort of model to help us understand where we are in the universe. The method of measuring the stars that has been developed is dependent upon the phenomenon of parallax. Parallax requires the modeler to take specific measurements from different, equidistant locations from the point, or star, in question. Using this information, and the geometrical theories that support, parallax, astronomers may now map the cosmos. Unfortunately, this method can only give scientists fairly rough estimates. The triangles that are formed from the three points of measurement create distorted shapes that can only create extremely minute or tiny angles that become components of

In this case, Britain and the American colonies developed great gaps during time, not only religious, economical and finally cultural. The beginning of this separation between the colonists and Britain runs deep. The Britain crown didn t invest directly in the search of colonies in the Americasand by doing so, it gave the colonist a lose rope to start developing a new vision. The colonists had little or nothing to report directly to the crown and what they reported could take months to reach Britain and even more for Britain to do something about it. The vision that Britain developed from America is the response to the vision that is created during the first years of the colony. A wild land with abundance of resources that can generate a profit to the empire. In this vision the colonies are not seen as part of the empire. It is a land that it is in the power of Britain s to be used as they see fit. This would generate big problems in the future when the population and popularity of the colonies start to grow proportionally with the profit that the colonies generate. The fact that the Britain government did not have a strong presence in the colonies is the first step to a new mentality. Of course, the change of mentality took generations, and even when the general population respected the Britain crown, the devotion to a king that an ocean away from the started to create a

However, a very famous painting, The Virgin and Child with St. Anne and St. John the Baptist... Now it hangs in a room by itself. The room is like a chapel. The drawing is behind bullet proof Perspex... It has become impressive... because of its market value. (Berger 110). This painting has many reproductions, and yet it is required to be housed in its own room behind bullet proof glass due to its immense value. This in my opinion is more valuable now than it was as more people will want the painting bringing the price and therefore the value of the painting
  • 39. The Problem Of A Teacher Teachers are humans like the rest of us, and can be lazy. They can t always be blamed for having an off day as we all have them, but sometimes teachers take advantage of the fact that it s tougher to get fired as a teacher than a lot of other jobs. When a teacher has been there for a long time, it can be a very difficult task to get them fired if they re taking advantage of their tenure. A new teacher almost always starts out great, happy, and very excited to teach their class. An issue is, over time teachers can become lazy, as can people with other jobs. The issue with a lazy teacher, though, is that the student s future is in the hands of the teacher. When teachers are lazy, sometimes they ll give out what is called busy work, used to waste time, and give them something to do while the teacher sits and does what they want. There are two ways this is a huge issue: first, this doesn t help students at all, meaning that the time they spent doing it helps get them nowhere, and is completely pointless. Second, students can carelessly complete the work, and take advantage of the teacher not caring. After time, a teacher not caring isn t a reason for them being fired, due to the fact that they re a union, and unless they commit a serious crime as shown on plenty of news stations, then they re free to do as they please as long as they aren t necessarily breaking the law. Teaching can be one of the toughest jobs out there, and many people take it as a job anyone can do.

Male Violence And Aggression Against Women Statement of the Project s Research Question and Importance The topic of this research is male violence and aggression against women in the United States. My research question is Is male violence against women dependent upon location and setting? I am studying different forms of male violence or aggression against women because I want to discover the locations and settings in which females are most vulnerable and most oftentimes victimized. This knowledge will ultimately enable policymakers and advocates to better understand where and why these atrocities take place, as well as in what ways they affect American women. Statistics such as this are publicized so that policies can be developed and these victims can have greater advocacy, such as the 1991Violence Against Women Act in the United States (Goodman 1993). The informational document developed by the WHO as well as a report discussing the current research being done on male violence against women states the most common forms of violence against women, the severe fatal and non fatal health consequences of violence, and the factors that increase a woman s risk of being a victim of violence (Garcia Moreno 1993 and Goodman 1993). More recently, studies looking at abuse against women in the U.S., such as the 1996 National Violence Against Women (NVAW) Survey, seek to understand both women s and men s experiences with violence. The survey along with a report from the National Institute of Health (NIH) s National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism discovered violence against women has grown exponentially in the past 20 years, especially in the area of intimate partner violence and sexual assault (Tjaden 2000 and Abbey). More specifically, the research done by the NIH focused primarily on male violence while under the influence of drugs and alcohol, suggesting that a majority of violent acts involve drugs and alcohol in settings where they are commonly found, such as college campuses and perhaps on dates. Other studies focus more on verbal harassment in the workplace Many researchers share frustrations over
