Why Do Organelles Carry Out Its Function
There are several different organelles which allow the cell to carry out its function which is
reproduction and growth. There are important organelles that the eukaryotic cell needs, one of which
is that the nucleus is present. The nucleus acts as the brain of the eukaryotic cell. DNA is found in the
nucleus which holds all the genes and also controls the cell. The cells function is to reproduce, which
needs the nucleus to do this. To carry out another function which is to reproduce, the chromosomes
which are found in the DNA are needed and copied. The cell also needs a lot of energy for this. The
energy is created by the eukaryotic cell s other organelle which is mitochondria. The mitochondria
make energy out of food and then give the cell the energy it needs to carry out its function. The
lysosome then digests enzymes which breaks down the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Proteins are manufactured according to instructions encoded in the genes in the nucleus. These genes
are then transcripted into RNA from DNA in the nucleus. The RNA then leaves the nucleus and
interacts with ribosomes on the ER, which now links amino acids together to form protein chains. The
cell membrane is a selective barrier on the boundary of every cell. Its function is to allow the passage
of oxygen, nutrients, and wastes to service the entire volume of the cell. The lysosomes are digestive
organelles where macromolecules and other wastes are hydrolyzed by enzymes. There main function
is to process the molecules taken in through the cell membrane and to recycle worn out cell parts.
After ribosome synthesize proteins, the proteins are transported through the rough ER then, proteins
are enclosed in a vesicle and transported to the Golgi apparatus, where processing, packaging, and
transport of proteins is done. After the protein is processed, it will then bud off from the Golgi
apparatus (as vesicles) and transport to where ever it is

Technology Shaped The Rhapsody. Queen s 1975 Classic ...
Technology Shaped the Rhapsody
Queen s 1975 classic Bohemian Rhapsody is extremely influenced by the recording technology used
to create its sound and enhance its musical presentation. Multi tracking phrases and over dubbing
instruments played a key role in the creation of the piece. The piece was revolutionary for the
progressive rock musical period as maximised the use of recording technology at the time. This can be
seen when compared to a contemporary classics of the time, Led Zeppelin s Stairway to Heaven and
Pink Floyd s Eclipse.
The Acapella Introduction of Bohemian Rhapsody (refer to bars 1 4 in figure 1) began when lead
singer, Freddie Mercury, created a chord progression consisting of Bb7, Cm7, F7.
Figure 1: Bars 1 4 of Acapella Introduction Brian May, lead guitarist of Queen reported in BBC News
that: [Freddie] came in and knew exactly what he wanted. [He] sang a guide vocal at the time, but he
had all his harmonies written out, and it was really just a question of doing it. Luckily for Queen, they
were able to stretch the recording industry to a place it had never been before. After creating chords,
Freddie then worked on lyrics and vocal harmonies, dividing the vocals into Solo, Soprano, Mezzo
Soprano, Alto and Bass. Mercury used multi tracking techniques and a Guide Track Piano to record
the various vocal parts. A Guide Track Piano is a Piano used to pre record a melodic guide for a
vocalist to follow while recording vocals. Mercury recorded the

Implementing Compulsory Voting in Canada Essay example
A compulsory voting system similar to the one used in Australia is not a system Canada should
implement. Compulsory voting in the context of a democratic society can be a misleading term
(Lever, 2010). Canada practices the secret ballot process in voting, and so it is impossible to verify if
someone has cast a legally valid ballot. If countries have a singular goal of simply increasing voter
turnout, compulsory voting could remedy this problem and it should be more accurately defined as
being compulsory voter turnout (Lever, 2010). The belief that compulsory voting inherently improves
democracy is misleading (Lever, 2010). Canada should not force its citizen s to vote because other

Implementing a similar system in Canada would be difficult and problematic because Canadian
citizens have become accustom to a system of individualized rights and freedoms. The Right to Not
Vote:
Abstaining from alienation occurs when a voter s utility for [their] favorite candidate fails to exceed a
certain positive threshold (Blomberg, 1995. Pg.1023). An alienated voter is someone who with distinct
purpose of mind avoids voting for the purpose of showing discontent often for unqualified candidates
(Blomberg, 1995). Implementing compulsory voting would force these already alienated voters to
vote regardless if they disagree with all the candidates involved and those candidates platforms or
beliefs. High rates of non voting citizens exercising their right to not vote may also lure highly
qualified individuals to run for public office (Blomberg, 1995. Pg.1024 25). A return of qualified
individuals would increase the alienated voter turnout, which would supersede the need for a
compulsory vote. Some in favor of compulsory voting suggest that if people are dissatisfied with the
candidate options that they can provide a write in vote, meaning they put the name of someone they
wish to vote for on the ballot themselves. However, the problem with a write in vote is that you are not
included in the percentage of nonvoters (Bloomberg, 1995). The percentage of nonvoters can be
important data because it can be an indication to the political community, and may

The Most Important Character In La Boheme
The most important character in La Boheme is the writer Rodolfo who experiences passionate feelings
for his seamstress neighbor, Mimi. Rodolfo offers a garret apartment with three other men: Marcello,
painter; Colline, a logician; and Schaunard, an artist. Marcello likewise is included in a turbulent issue
with his female sweetheart, Musetta. The fundamental characters in Rent, as in La Boheme, are
youthful and ruined in light of the fact that in genuine Bohemian mold, they decide to devote
themselves to their artistic expressions. Larson adds to rent extra characters speaking to the modern
day works of art of film and move. Roger is lyricist/guitarist; Mark, an eventual film producer; Mimi,
an artist in a sex appear and a medication fanatic who turns into Roger s sweetheart; Benny, a former

Unfreedoms
Cry, the Beloved County is packed with unfreedoms and exploitation. Throughout my paper I will
discuss how these are evident when the novel is evaluated using what was in some of the readings that
we read this semester, then I will discuss the global implications of Apartheid. The readings that I will
be using are Development as Freedom by Amartya Sen, Three Economic Paradigms by Susan Feiner,
and The Structure of Dependence by Theotonio Dos Santos. Finally, I will analyze the global
implications of the system of Apartheid. (need 70 more words) Amartya Sen s book, Development as

In this article she wrote about three different ways to view a given situation. Her three economic
paradigms are conservative/ free market, liberal/ imperfectionist, and radical/ exploitation. Free
market economics states that individuals are free, independent, rational choosers who are motivated by
self interest. They believe in a free market and that the government should have no control over it, and
that this will lead to competitive markets and economic growth. Liberals also use a market system;
however, they believe that government intervention is necessary. They think that some people don t
have the resources at their disposal to achieve upward mobility. Liberals believe that they it is
necessary for governments to provide an education to all people so that they have a chance to improve
their living conditions. Gertrude s son is an example of the government not successfully
accomplishing this. In the slums, children are not given the education that they need in order to
succeed later in life. This is one example of how the government in South Africa is not doing what an
imperfectionist would recommend they do. The last of the three economic paradigms is the radical
perspective. Radicals have very firm theories of how workers are exploited by their employers. They
explain minority have low income and status because they have a history of being exploited. They

Office Assistant Research Paper
I plan on pursing being certified in Office Assistant I really didn t know what I wanted to do. Office
Assistant wasn t really my dream but I kind of like typing and editing papers. I can see myself now in
an office answering the phone and saying one moment please he ll be right with you. I like working
with other people and being there for them. When you are working in an office you have to be
respectful, honest and truthful and ready to work. Don t never come to your job with an attitude and

Sometimes it s not always about what you don t wont to do it s about what you have to do to make
ends meet. I know working in an office sometimes might not be where the money at but it s better than
nothing. Working in an office all day gets irritating and frustrating especially when you have to fax a

real busy. Sometimes you might have to work late because you didn t fax a paper off right. When I

They have been able to capitalize on emerging markets that may not have previously been viable. This
includes Thailand, which is now seen as one of the most beauty conscious countries in the world ( P G
Upbeat , 2010). With this new market, P G has been able to launch their hair care line in parts of the
world that previously were not industrialized and did not have a demand for these types of products.
As more countries especially in Asia, Africa, and Latin America begin to industrialize, P G can
continue to expand their geographic segments. Not only have they penetrated the countries
themselves, but they have penetrated different segments in the consumer market. With 300 brands in 3
very distinct divisions, P G has been able to diversify and capture a larger market share. As for
business segments, the company has 3 divisions which are Beauty and Grooming, Health and
Wellness, and Household Care Products. All of these divisions are operated by a centralized business
structure that works to make the business the most efficient it can be ( Core Strengths, 2011). In
addition to this centralization of the product divisions, the company also has a Market Development
Organization (MDO) to tailor marketing strategies in each geographic area. This ability to target a
specific market has allowed P G to continue to gain the market share in emerging markets.

Mandatory Military Draft Research Paper
The United States should not enforce a mandatory military draft. Imagine your only son just registered
for the draft by law. A week later he receives a call saying he has been drafted and must leave within
two weeks. Do you realize how much pain you would have to endure?
As you can tell, if the draft was reinstated many disputes would start to take place. Families all over
the United States would have to go through the pain of their children being forced to leave their home.
There are so many people who want to be in the military, there is almost no need for a mandatory
draft. With this is mind, those who are drafted are not are not near as dedicated as the troops who are

The Bluest Eye Character Analysis
Characterization maneuvers by Toni Morrison Pecola Breedlove in The Bluest Eye is a curious, young
and innocent girl who tries to understand things that are even more complex than she thinks. A
wondering eleven years old girl who is not near to recognizing the world she lives in; Pecola wants to
be able to be something that she thinks is unreachable without the need of any special trait, and she
does whatever she thinks it takes to achieve it. Toni Morrison created a character who is constantly
driven by her actions and thoughts simultaneously according to what she thinks is correct of doing.
To begin with, Toni Morrison describes how Pecola commit things to understand or can achieve
certain things. For example, We knew she was fond of the Shirley Temple cup and took every
opportunity to drink milk out of it just to handle and see sweet Shirley s face Morrison (23). This
clearly explains that she does this just to be able to adjust and see this girl, as if they were not on a
same level. Pecola does this by impulsion because she might think that was the right action to take to
reach Shirley who Pecola taught was so different than her. Also, this example is seen when The tears
came fast, and she held her face in her hands Morrison (90). This describes her as some who can feel
easily feeling trapped and incapable of acting against that force that is pushing her against a wall.
Pecola is now feeling like nothing she does can help it and quits, and she just stops

How Did The Three Supreme Court Cases Influence The Civil...
Civil Rights Movement The Supreme Court both legalized segregation, and abolished segregation for
Blacks in America. When black slaves were freed, they still had unusually little rights; while civil
rights leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. pushed for equality for blacks, with peaceful protests.
Although were a few specific Supreme Court cases that were extremely influential for the Civil Rights
Movement. Three Supreme Court cases influenced the Civil Rights movement by promoting or
stopping segregation in schools and throughout society: Plessy v. Ferguson, Brown v. Board of
Education, and Swan v. Board of Education.
Specifically, the Supreme Court case of Plessy v. Ferguson was a major contributor to the civil rights
movement. The case was about Homer Plessy, that was jailed for sitting in a whites only car on East
Louisiana Railroad in 1892, because the segregated car was completely different experiences. It
eventually ruled that Plessy was in the wrong. In short, it created the need for the civil rights

Measuring Reaction Rate Using Volume of Gas Produced
Chemistry 12 Formal Report Measuring Reaction Rate using Volume of Gas Produced By John Doe
23th October 2012 Introduction An essential element of chemistry is finding reaction rates. This is
because chemists need to know how long a reaction should take. In addition to needing to know the
rate of a reaction at any point in time to monitor how the reaction is proceeding. Many factors effect
reaction rates, two shown above include temperature and concentration. Concentration affects the rate
of reactions because the more concentrated a solution the more likely collisions between particles will
be. This is simply because there are more particles present to collide with each other. When the
temperature is higher, particles will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In next reaction which took place at a temperature 10˚ higher than that had a rate of 39.5 mL/minute.
Next was the reaction which took place at 10˚ below room temperature which resulted in a rate of 26.8
mL/minute. In the reaction that 20 mL of distilled water was added to the bleach solution and the
temperature was kept constant, the reaction rate dropped to 16.2 mL/minute. Finally the slowest
reaction occurred when 60 mL of distilled water was added to the bleach causing a rate of 10.8
mL/minute. The rate value changes as the temperature is changed. When the temperature increases by
10˚, the rate of the reaction increases by a factor of 0.12 (12%). This is again changed when the
temperature is changed to 10˚ below room temperature. This results in a rate of production of oxygen,
which is decreased by a factor of 0.25 (25%). When the concentrations were changed so did the rate of
reaction. When the concentration was changed to 0.265M the rate of reaction dropped by a factor of
0.5 (50%) below the control value. Furthermore when 60mL of water was added to the bleach
dropping the concentration too 0.132M the rate dropped by a factor of 0.7 (70%). Bleach should never
be mixed with any acid based cleaners because it results in the formation of toxic Cl gas. If bleach is
mixed with an acid based cleaner in a small room it will result in a toxic build up of chlorine gas,
which can be fatal to anyone spending

Motivation Techniques for Businesses to Motivate the Work Force
Introduction ============
For this assignment I am going to look at different motivational techniques that businesses use in
order to motivate their work force, I will then decide on which I feel to be the most effective and why
it is so effective.
Hypothesis ==========
All businesses want a motivated workforce, and expend a lot of time and money in order to attempt to
achieve this, what these people need to look at is the common goals that there employees hold, for
example:
Self esteem: needs for self respect and self confidence, for autonomy, for achievement, for
competence, for knowledge.
Status: needs for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order for a worker to feel happy, they must be in the right environment, if they do not feel happy in
the area they are working in then they may be tempted not to come at all. If a worker does not get on
with his/her colleagues and are possibly picked on by them than this will cause them to be highly
unmotivated, the same goes if the place they are working in is clean or sanitary, for example if a chef
is working in a very dirty kitchen in which they have to spend a long time working in than they will
not produce their best work, or if someone is working in a dirty cluttered office than it is bound to
affect their work motivation. But if they work in a clean friendly environment, then they will be a lot
happier. But there is one problem with there being an environment that is too friendly, and that is the
employees may talk too much and become distracted

The Influence Of Imperialism In American Imperialism
In the 1890s some Americans were eager to expand. Post Civil War the U.S. was going through a time
where they thought that they were lagging behind other nations in terms of expansionism. America felt
that they were lacking what they needed in order to become a powerhouse. Many Americans, like
Theodore Roosevelt or Alfred Thayer Mahan, were imperialists who wanted to acquire land/territories
for the U.S. The United States sought to find their identity as a nation in the world. American Identity
to imperialists can be defined as patriotism, military power, and dominance/hegemony. This was
controversial because some Americans were anti imperialists who did not believe in expansionism, but
in defending the Constitution. This brought about both supporters and opponents of imperialism
during the Spanish American War. Manifest Destiny is defined as the 19th century belief that
expansion of the U.S. throughout the American continents were both justified and inevitable. This God
given right fueled western settlement and imperialistic belief. Imperialist Senator Albert Beveridge,
September 1898, made a speech that stated the flag of liberty will circle the globe...benighted peoples
will know the voice of liberty is speaking...civilization is dawning. This demonstrates the belief of
expanding to territories around the globe. Charles Denby wrote a forum in November 1898 titled Shall
we keep the Phillipines. In the Forum, Denby is talking about the epoch known as the Battle

The Shape of Practical Theology
Book Report: The Shape of Practical Theology
In The Shape of Practical Theology: Empowering Ministry with Theological Praxis, Ray Anderson
attempts what he considers a new approach to modern Christianity. Anderson believes that the modern
church is plagued by a significant divide between theology and practical Christianity. Many churches
approach these two aspects of religion as if they are separate, rather the practical sides of Christianity
lacking. Therefore, Anderson s goal in the book is to relate modern practical Christianity directly to
theology. He uses theology to tackle some of the major social issues that impact on modern practicing
Christians including: preaching, worship, family, therapy, burnout, relationships, social justice, ethics,
and homosexuality. Instead of treating these issues as if they are separate from theology, Anderson
demonstrates how theology directly interacts with each of these issues. Anderson uses a three prong
approach to explain his theological approach to modern Christianity. The first prong is the shape of
practical theology. The goal of this section is not to merely describe the skills and methods that people
use to engage in theology, but to look at practical theology as a meaningful way to grow one s
relationship with God and one s understanding of Scripture. In this section, Anderson introduces the
concept of practical theology, talks about the discipline of practical theology, a Trinitarian model of
practical theology, looking

Poverty On Children Essay
Poverty
Poverty is a chronic issue not just within the United States but throughout the whole world, but one
thing that people tend to overlook is the effect that poverty has on childhood. Many children grow up
in poverty and the effects can last for a life time. For many of these kids who grow up in these
conditions the effects include poor health, a high risk for teen pregnancy, and the lack of an education.
Poor health is a direct of effect of poverty, children with families with no money or that live in a
country that cannot provide the right kind of services do not have access to adequate medical
treatment, Psychological research has demonstrated that living in poverty has a wide range of negative
effects on the physical and mental health and wellbeing of our nation s children. Poverty impacts
children within their various contexts at home, in school, and in their neighborhoods and communities
. If a child does not have the money it is impossible to get the necessary care that it needs, I witnessed
this first hand: back when I lived in Africa I wasn t much older than 3 or 4, I used to have a younger
brother who got sick and it wasn t even something very serious it was just a minor cold that could
have been easily treated but thanks to lack of hospitals and the lack of money in our household the
minor cold become very serious and I watched as my younger brother slowly died in my mother s
arms. Furthermore, the APA (the American psychological association) found that

The Vietnam War Was A Significant Moment For Canada
The Vietnam War was a historically significant moment for Canada which followed the First and
Second World War. This was due to Canada s large involvement in helping the South of Vietnam in
their war efforts. Canada plays a large roll in this war costs and their manufacturing for war materials.
One must first know how the war began before understanding how Canada contributed. Although the
start of the Vietnam War had nothing to do with Canada, later events in the war were related to Canada
largely. The beginning of the war is a crucial part in how we got involved in the Vietnam War. On May
7th 1954, Viet Minh had finally won the Battle of Dien Bien Phu marking the end of the First
Indochina War. This was a breakthrough for Vietnam because this meant that France was no longer
involved with Vietnam, and the French would then seize fire. A new government would now rule
Vietnam. The North of Vietnam was becoming communist while the South of Vietnam was becoming
more anti communist. The United States of America feared that if communism took over Vietnam, it
would then start to spread to South East Asia. The United States of America feared this possibility
because it would then be a much greater threat to them than they thought originally. On the 8th of
March 1965 the United States of America decided to take action and form an alliance with South
Vietnam anti communist forces and they sent 3, 500 soldiers to fight in the Vietnam War. This number

hair bulb is a structure with actively growing cells which produce hair as we see it. The hair shaft is
the part of a hair that we all see above your scalp is made of a protein named keratin, cemented and
compacted together. Keratin is quite a tough protein and is resilient to wear and tear. The hair shaft
also contains hydrogen bonds which give your hair its flexibility. The hair shaft is made up of three
layers, the cortex, the medulla, and the cuticle. The cortex forms your hair s colour. It contains long
keratin filaments held together by hydrogen bonds and disulphide and the health of the cortex depends
of the cuticle protecting it. The medulla isn t always present but consists of a thin core of air spaces
and transparent cells. The cuticle is a protective layer containing overlapping cells similar to fish
scales. The outer cuticle holds your hair follicle similar to a Velcro like bond.
Various different websites have some evidence on coconut oil helping with hair growth, sun damage, a
base for hair colour, defeating dandruff, a detangler, and as a conditioner. I couldn t find any evidence
of coconut oil helping nor hindering hair strength.
AIM
The purpose of this experiment it to investigate how coconut oil effects the strength of the Keratin in
an ordinary hair strand.

Cuban Migration
In order to understand the complex relationship that Cuba has with the United States and the nature of
Cuban American immigrant communities that exist in South Florida, it is necessary to first understand
the unique circumstances that led to the large influx of Cuban immigrants.
For many Cubans the Batista government was simply a puppet regime with the puppet masters being
wealthy Americans. This was because his economic policies favoured foreign investors and did little
for the development of domestic industries, which resulted in the wealth of the country being
concentrated in the hands of a wealthy white minority. Consequently, in the 1950s, this harsh regime
caused political resistance to reach to its boiling point. In response to these ... Show more content on

Prior to the development of Cuban American communities, 1940 census reflected the population of
South Florida being 172,172. Approximately 99.9% of the population spoke English and over 92% of
the population was white. The growth of Cuban American communities in South Florida drastically
altered this demography. Today, Florida is now the third largest state in the nation, with more than 20
million people in 2015. Florida s growth can best be termed a population boom facilitated by a series
of migration. Although migration from other northern states continues to be a major contributor to
population growth, international migration plays a more important role, particularly in the south.
According to the Pew Research Center 2015 statistical profile of Hispanics of Cuban origin, there is
an estimated 2 million who live in the United States. This accounts for 3.7 percent of the overall
Latino population. Cuban Americans are the most regionally concentrated, with approximately 70
percent residing in South Florida. This change in demography has also carried linguistic implications.
The first wave of immigrants who arrived in the United States all thought that they were in temporary
exile and it was only a matter of time before the new government was overthrown and they would be
able to return to their island home. Consequently, unlike many other immigrant groups they made little
attempts to assimilate in the United States, instead they maintained their culture, customs and more
importantly their language. Therefore, in the late 1900s Spanish speakers comprised over 1/3 of the

Critical Review Of Outliers By Malcolm Gladwell
¬ In the book Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell, the concept of success is reintroduced and retaught.
Gladwell s narrative style is richly immersed in great descriptive detail, which provokes interest as the
reader relearns the idea of success. Gladwell introduces the story with a case study of an Italian
American town called Roseto. In Roseto, there was a discovery that heart disease was not present in
much of the population. Through various forms of analysis, it was determined that the traditional
physical and testable factors of health did not give them their unique good health , but rather an
untestable and more metal structure that the inhabitants had created for themselves (Gladwell, 9). With

In 1886 the first petrol powered automobile the Benz patent Motorwagen was invented by Karl Benz.

regional, the past 30 years have enabled the car market to gain growth through globalisation. These
factors were a result of a market that started to transform globally: Foreign Direct Investment or (FDI)
which is an investment made by a company based in one country, into a company based in a another
country. Large FDI flows come from the huge amount of low cost labour forces in Brazil, China and
India, strengthening both local markets and developed countries. Furthermore global production and

Were these subjects compensated to participate? It does not touch on real hard core aggression or

saliva test is a very accurate test for testosterone levels. The other way to check levels is to draw blood
and that can be expensive and time consuming.
If given adequate funds to perform research in this area, I would like to expand upon this research. I
would use more of the population, older and younger men. I would pull from prisoners and those
known to have aggression, anger issues and those known not to have issues. I would expand the
independent variables to include using violent and non violent video games, watching violent and non
violent movie clips, handling machine guns, unloaded of course, a baseball bat or maybe a machete.
Some un inhibiting items such as a stuffed animal, a Bible, or interacting with a child with a game.
The saliva tests before and after the interactions are adequate and reliable. I would have the subjects
also undergo a baseline blood pressure and heart rate check before and repeat that after the interaction.
Also, answer a few questions before and after and perform a physical aggression test to determine
their aggression levels.
I think it would be beneficial to test these men alone as well as in a group with other men and then

One s socioeconomic and educational level is an important factor in the longevity of this aging
population s existence. Greene County is a relatively poor community with only 11.3% of individuals
holding a B.A. or higher degree of education (Stats, 2014). The ability for self pay or likelihood of one
in this age group having private health insurance is decreased. Therefore, the financial burden for this
age group falls back on government agencies in the form of Medicare for qualifying older adult or the
older adult fails to seek medical attention due to the lack of funding. People 65 and older make nearly
twice as many physician office visits per year than adults 45 to 65. However, an estimated two thirds

The Service And The Joint Force
The Services and the Joint Force share the responsibility in ensuring that mission command is a
common attribute of our Profession of Arms. Our collective efforts must institutionalize mission
command by adopting and formalizing the character traits that enable a bias for action and responsible

the beginning of our nation and the development and expansion of the services that defend it, we have
faced a myriad of complex issues: shrinking force structures, global security concerns, and fiscal
constraints to name a few. From George Washington s Continental Army, which evolved into the
current Joint Force operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, we are faced with increasing complexity of the
operating environment. This heightened complexity and ever shrinking available assets to satisfy these
requirements, are the very reason that all commanders at all levels need to find innovative ways to
increase operational efficiency in addition to lowering fiscal and asset demands. This new operating

The Perfect Opportunity For Learning
have an opportunity to talk about their ideas. This discussion is the perfect opportunity for learning to
happen. According to Stevens and Slavin (1995) cognitive apprenticeship is elaborated in that,
students of different levels of achievement work together to learn. Students with higher level academic
abilities are able to use their own understanding to explain to the other students, whereas, the lower
students are able to use the explanation from their fellow classmates to understand the material.
Cooperative learning is not always viewed looked as the best teaching method.
Other researchers have shown a disadvantage in group work with regard to teaching students. Slow
learning students may lag behind due to their passive nature or lack of confidence (King, 1993). When
the quick learning students dominate the group and discussions, the lower achieving students may not
feel open and free to contributing in the discussion. In this case, the learning opportunity could pass
them by without anyone noticing the lack of understanding. Other limitations of cooperative learning
is the time required for some groups to work in unity and unable to teach the curriculum in a small
group Cooperative Learning setting (Good, Reys, Grouws, Mulryan, (1989;1990).
2.2 Related Research When referring back to the topic of cooperative learning technique, a lot of

Summary Of Bruce Springsteen s Born To Run
The 1970 s, filled with unraveling American society and global uncertainty, spawned many of music s
greatest artists. One of these artists was Bruce Springsteen, who has paved the way for the rock genre
since his 1975 album, Born to Run. While global issues continued at the hands of politicians, no one
quite captured the average Americans issues like Bruce Springsteen s Born to Run. Preformed and
composed entirely by Springsteen, with primary producer Jon Landau and incredible accompaniment
by the wide range E Street Band, the album flawlessly depicted normal Americans problems with the
decaying American dream and crumbling ideals. Bruce Springsteen, through insightful lyrics and
instrumentation, successfully and emotionally showcased common American ideals through his Born
to Run album. Before his successful breakout album, Springsteen endured the uncertain and unstable
society created in the wake of World War II. The United States, in the midst of Cold War tensions on a
global scale, faced domestic challenges as social reform movements protested for natural rights and
American troop removal from Vietnam ( Modern America ). On the musical side of American society,
deaths of influential artists, such as legendary rock guitarist Jimi Hendrix and blues singer Janis
Joplin, and the demise of the 1960s counterculture soured the entrance into the 1970s. Born in a
struggling working class New Jersey in late 1949, Springsteen observed the nature of blue collar life
first hand through his family, despite the increase of affluent, suburban life ( Springsteen s Born to
Run ). These early life experiences influenced Springsteen s songwriting themes and provided an
escape through music. Although Springsteen had established his musical career before 1975, he had
yet to achieve commercial success ( Springsteen, Bruce ). Destined to become the next icon in the
rock genre, Columbia Records allowed Springsteen one final attempt to create a profitable record (
Springsteen, Bruce ). Joined by his E Street Band, which included keyboardists Roy Brittan and
Danny Federici, bassist Garry Tallent, backup guitarist Steven Van Zandt, drummer Max Weinberg,
and 1950 s R B influenced saxophonist Clarence Clemons, Springsteen set out to

TQM is a management philosophy that seeks to integrate all organizational functions, it starts with
identifying who are our customers and what are their requirements.
Every function within an organization has a group of customers who have needs and requirements.
The focus on the relationship between customers and suppliers plays an important role when
attempting to improve quality. TQM starts by forming a link between the external customers needs,
internal customer supplier relationship and necessities then continues to the external suppliers.
Implementing TQM requires an assessment of the organization s current reality. The following,

Archaeologists have to envision how life was once lived, thousands of years ago, simply by studying
paintings on a wall, or through the examination of human remains. Not only do they have to imagine
these things, they need to have proof and evidence to back up their hypothesis. However, this task can
be very difficult to accomplish. Due to the fact that these artifacts are hundreds to thousands of years
old, they are likely to be very fragile. Making it difficult to collect all the pieces of evidence needed to

idea of living in the houses that they lived in. I wondered if they were dark, or cold. Apparently, a

Catalhoyuk houses in a site near Mira Stevanovic, according to Ian Hodder. Their model house proved

Pierre Elliott Trudeau Bilingualism
Firstly, Pierre Elliott Trudeau was a significant prime minister in the view of the fact that
he strengthened the Canadian nation by improving the role of Québec in Canada. Trudeau
demonstrated this fact when he promulgated the Official Languages Act in 1969, which
guaranteed official bilingualism in Canadian service where English government workers had to
learn to speak and understand French. By imposing this act, he wished to preserve and improve the
role that the French language had in Canada. His policy of bilingualism was significant
because keeping a country united was a way to help its advancement. Trudeau played an
important role when he rejected the Québec s separatist movement by using specific terms such

Accounting Standards Codification ( Asc )
Accounting Standards Codification (ASC) 470 20 25 10 defines convertible bonds as debt securities
which are convertible into common stock of the issuer or an affiliated company at a specified price at
the option of the holder, (Schulman, 2014). Convertible bonds Under APB Opinion No. 14 you are
allowed to ignore the conversion and treat the convertible bonds as a straight debt. This approach is
defended on the basis that the bond and conversion option are not separable. Thus the conversion
feature itself, regardless of its nature, has no marketable valuation, (Schroeder, Clark Cathey, 2014, p.

Unless the redemption of redeemable stock is required to occur only upon the liquidation or
termination of the reporting entity, the stock should be classified as a liability. (Schroeder, Sevin,
Schauer, 2006) The GAAP treatment of preferred stock does affect companies that are closely held,
non public companies. Large firms that are under this category do issue MRPS, as the result of this,
the effect of this new standard as potentially eliminating the net worth of the non public companies
that have issued MRPS. (Schroeder, Sevin, Schauer, 2006) The other issue at the beginning of the
conversion of MRPS from not being reported as a liability to being required to report the MRPS is a
liability on the balance sheet. This would have caused debt covenant violations, which would have
hampered the firm s ability to borrow additional debt. Not only will firms balance sheets show an
increase in liabilities, but also ratios related to a firm s debt will be affected, as well. Debt to equity
ratios and debt to asset ratios will deteriorate as a result of FAS 150, which could jeopardize bond and
loan covenants, (McCarthy, Schneider Seese, 2004).

The Theory Of Self Defense
Self defense is described in the dictionary as; the act of defending one s person when physically
attacked, as by countering blows or overcoming an assailant ( self defense, n.d.). The concept of self
defense appears well defined; however, the tactics allowed to protect oneself have evolved just as
America has. As technology and weaponry advance, the need for clearer laws pertaining to the actions
allowed by an individual need to be reevaluated and clearly communicated. Starting in early colonial
times and moving through history, there is a great deal of differences between the self defense that was
once permitted and what is acceptable and tolerated today.
In early colonial times, Europeans began settling in America. During this time, there was a need for
self defense from both the Native Americans who were already settled on the new land and from the
European invaders who wanted to take it over. Self defense was originally termed the first law of
nature, and citizens were allowed to use deadly force whenever they judged it necessary. This practice
of self defense existed during a time where the individual was considered the ... judge, jury, and
executioner (Cornell, 2013). While being attacked, an individual was allowed to determine the course
of action he or she could take to protect himself or herself whether it be retreating or killing the
perpetrator. During this time, items such as one s own hands, bow and arrows, knives, and weapons of
that sort were used

Rebecca Curtis Article Summary
Summary of Article: In the article Speaking Freely: My Experiences in Individual Psychotherapies,
Group Therapies, and Growth Groups, Rebecca Curtis discusses her experiences with multiple forms
of therapy. First Curtis reviews her experiences with group therapies, then psychotherapy, followed by
two psychoanalysis experiences. Curtis also discusses the value of each of her experiences as well as
the difficulties she had with certain experiences.
Most Important Idea(s): There are three types of experiences that Curtis mentions in her article. First
is her experiences with training groups and therapy groups. Second is her experience with
psychotherapy. Finally Curtis mentions two of her experiences with psychoanalysis. However, out of

Curtis second analyst was different from her first. According to Curtis, competition with this analyst
was nonexistent. Annoyances that occurred because of the first analyst did not occur with the second
analyst. The second analyst did not conform to one theory causing Curtis to feel more connected with
this analyst. Curtis also felt that this analyst did not overuse the theory of transference (Curtis, 2011).
Curtis states that during this experience, I could speak freely but learned to think more carefully about
the consequences in advance, at least about some of them some of the time (Curtis, p. 802).
Value of Article: I find this article to be enlightening about how different types of therapies affect the
same individual. Curtis had experience with two types of group therapies before she interned, however
she still learned from the group therapy she observed during her internship. While psychotherapy did
not resonate with Curtis, psychoanalysis worked better for her. Curtis depicts two encounters with
psychoanalysis that had two drastically different methods and results. The value of this article is that it
shows individuals that even though one method of therapy did not work another

  • 2. Why Do Organelles Carry Out Its Function There are several different organelles which allow the cell to carry out its function which is reproduction and growth. There are important organelles that the eukaryotic cell needs, one of which is that the nucleus is present. The nucleus acts as the brain of the eukaryotic cell. DNA is found in the nucleus which holds all the genes and also controls the cell. The cells function is to reproduce, which needs the nucleus to do this. To carry out another function which is to reproduce, the chromosomes which are found in the DNA are needed and copied. The cell also needs a lot of energy for this. The energy is created by the eukaryotic cell s other organelle which is mitochondria. The mitochondria make energy out of food and then give the cell the energy it needs to carry out its function. The lysosome then digests enzymes which breaks down the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Proteins are manufactured according to instructions encoded in the genes in the nucleus. These genes are then transcripted into RNA from DNA in the nucleus. The RNA then leaves the nucleus and interacts with ribosomes on the ER, which now links amino acids together to form protein chains. The cell membrane is a selective barrier on the boundary of every cell. Its function is to allow the passage of oxygen, nutrients, and wastes to service the entire volume of the cell. The lysosomes are digestive organelles where macromolecules and other wastes are hydrolyzed by enzymes. There main function is to process the molecules taken in through the cell membrane and to recycle worn out cell parts. After ribosome synthesize proteins, the proteins are transported through the rough ER then, proteins are enclosed in a vesicle and transported to the Golgi apparatus, where processing, packaging, and transport of proteins is done. After the protein is processed, it will then bud off from the Golgi apparatus (as vesicles) and transport to where ever it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Technology Shaped The Rhapsody. Queen s 1975 Classic ... Technology Shaped the Rhapsody Queen s 1975 classic Bohemian Rhapsody is extremely influenced by the recording technology used to create its sound and enhance its musical presentation. Multi tracking phrases and over dubbing instruments played a key role in the creation of the piece. The piece was revolutionary for the progressive rock musical period as maximised the use of recording technology at the time. This can be seen when compared to a contemporary classics of the time, Led Zeppelin s Stairway to Heaven and Pink Floyd s Eclipse. The Acapella Introduction of Bohemian Rhapsody (refer to bars 1 4 in figure 1) began when lead singer, Freddie Mercury, created a chord progression consisting of Bb7, Cm7, F7. Figure 1: Bars 1 4 of Acapella Introduction Brian May, lead guitarist of Queen reported in BBC News that: [Freddie] came in and knew exactly what he wanted. [He] sang a guide vocal at the time, but he had all his harmonies written out, and it was really just a question of doing it. Luckily for Queen, they were able to stretch the recording industry to a place it had never been before. After creating chords, Freddie then worked on lyrics and vocal harmonies, dividing the vocals into Solo, Soprano, Mezzo Soprano, Alto and Bass. Mercury used multi tracking techniques and a Guide Track Piano to record the various vocal parts. • 4. Implementing Compulsory Voting in Canada Essay example A compulsory voting system similar to the one used in Australia is not a system Canada should implement. Compulsory voting in the context of a democratic society can be a misleading term (Lever, 2010). Canada practices the secret ballot process in voting, and so it is impossible to verify if someone has cast a legally valid ballot. If countries have a singular goal of simply increasing voter turnout, compulsory voting could remedy this problem and it should be more accurately defined as being compulsory voter turnout (Lever, 2010). The belief that compulsory voting inherently improves democracy is misleading (Lever, 2010). Canada should not force its citizen s to vote because other then increasing voter turnout, compulsory voting would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Implementing a similar system in Canada would be difficult and problematic because Canadian citizens have become accustom to a system of individualized rights and freedoms. The Right to Not Vote: Abstaining from alienation occurs when a voter s utility for [their] favorite candidate fails to exceed a certain positive threshold (Blomberg, 1995. Pg.1023). An alienated voter is someone who with distinct purpose of mind avoids voting for the purpose of showing discontent often for unqualified candidates (Blomberg, 1995). Implementing compulsory voting would force these already alienated voters to vote regardless if they disagree with all the candidates involved and those candidates platforms or beliefs. High rates of non voting citizens exercising their right to not vote may also lure highly qualified individuals to run for public office (Blomberg, 1995. Pg.1024 25). A return of qualified individuals would increase the alienated voter turnout, which would supersede the need for a compulsory vote. Some in favor of compulsory voting suggest that if people are dissatisfied with the candidate options that they can provide a write in vote, meaning they put the name of someone they wish to vote for on the ballot themselves. However, the problem with a write in vote is that you are not included in the percentage of nonvoters (Bloomberg, 1995). The percentage of nonvoters can be important data because it can be an indication to the political community, and may ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They believe in a free market and that the government should have no control over it, and that this will lead to competitive markets and economic growth. Liberals also use a market system; however, they believe that government intervention is necessary. They think that some people don t have the resources at their disposal to achieve upward mobility. Liberals believe that they it is necessary for governments to provide an education to all people so that they have a chance to improve their living conditions. Gertrude s son is an example of the government not successfully accomplishing this. In the slums, children are not given the education that they need in order to succeed later in life. For example, We knew she was fond of the Shirley Temple cup and took every opportunity to drink milk out of it just to handle and see sweet Shirley s face Morrison (23). This clearly explains that she does this just to be able to adjust and see this girl, as if they were not on a same level. Pecola does this by impulsion because she might think that was the right action to take to reach Shirley who Pecola taught was so different than her. Also, this example is seen when The tears came fast, and she held her face in her hands Morrison (90). This is because chemists need to know how long a reaction should take. In addition to needing to know the rate of a reaction at any point in time to monitor how the reaction is proceeding. Many factors effect reaction rates, two shown above include temperature and concentration. Concentration affects the rate of reactions because the more concentrated a solution the more likely collisions between particles will be. In next reaction which took place at a temperature 10˚ higher than that had a rate of 39.5 mL/minute. Next was the reaction which took place at 10˚ below room temperature which resulted in a rate of 26.8 mL/minute. In the reaction that 20 mL of distilled water was added to the bleach solution and the temperature was kept constant, the reaction rate dropped to 16.2 mL/minute. Finally the slowest reaction occurred when 60 mL of distilled water was added to the bleach causing a rate of 10.8 mL/minute. The rate value changes as the temperature is changed. When the temperature increases by 10˚, the rate of the reaction increases by a factor of 0.12 (12%). This is again changed when the temperature is changed to 10˚ below room temperature. This results in a rate of production of oxygen, which is decreased by a factor of 0.25 (25%). When the concentrations were changed so did the rate of reaction. When the concentration was changed to 0.265M the rate of reaction dropped by a factor of 0.5 (50%) below the control value. Furthermore when 60mL of water was added to the bleach dropping the concentration too 0.132M the rate dropped by a factor of 0.7 (70%). • 17. The Influence Of Imperialism In American Imperialism In the 1890s some Americans were eager to expand. Post Civil War the U.S. was going through a time where they thought that they were lagging behind other nations in terms of expansionism. America felt that they were lacking what they needed in order to become a powerhouse. Many Americans, like Theodore Roosevelt or Alfred Thayer Mahan, were imperialists who wanted to acquire land/territories for the U.S. The United States sought to find their identity as a nation in the world. American Identity to imperialists can be defined as patriotism, military power, and dominance/hegemony. This was controversial because some Americans were anti imperialists who did not believe in expansionism, but in defending the Constitution. This brought about both supporters and opponents of imperialism during the Spanish American War. Manifest Destiny is defined as the 19th century belief that expansion of the U.S. throughout the American continents were both justified and inevitable. This God given right fueled western settlement and imperialistic belief. Imperialist Senator Albert Beveridge, September 1898, made a speech that stated the flag of liberty will circle the globe...benighted peoples will know the voice of liberty is speaking...civilization is dawning. The Shape of Practical Theology Book Report: The Shape of Practical Theology In The Shape of Practical Theology: Empowering Ministry with Theological Praxis, Ray Anderson attempts what he considers a new approach to modern Christianity. Anderson believes that the modern church is plagued by a significant divide between theology and practical Christianity. Many churches approach these two aspects of religion as if they are separate, rather the practical sides of Christianity lacking. Therefore, Anderson s goal in the book is to relate modern practical Christianity directly to theology. He uses theology to tackle some of the major social issues that impact on modern practicing Christians including: preaching, worship, family, therapy, burnout, relationships, social justice, ethics, and homosexuality. Instead of treating these issues as if they are separate from theology, Anderson demonstrates how theology directly interacts with each of these issues. Anderson uses a three prong approach to explain his theological approach to modern Christianity. The first prong is the shape of practical theology. The goal of this section is not to merely describe the skills and methods that people use to engage in theology, but to look at practical theology as a meaningful way to grow one s relationship with God and one s understanding of Scripture. In this section, Anderson introduces the concept of practical theology, talks about the discipline of practical theology, a Trinitarian model of practical theology, looking ... One must first know how the war began before understanding how Canada contributed. Although the start of the Vietnam War had nothing to do with Canada, later events in the war were related to Canada largely. The beginning of the war is a crucial part in how we got involved in the Vietnam War. On May 7th 1954, Viet Minh had finally won the Battle of Dien Bien Phu marking the end of the First Indochina War. This was a breakthrough for Vietnam because this meant that France was no longer involved with Vietnam, and the French would then seize fire. A new government would now rule Vietnam. The North of Vietnam was becoming communist while the South of Vietnam was becoming more anti communist. The United States of America feared that if communism took over Vietnam, it would then start to spread to South East Asia. Keratin is quite a tough protein and is resilient to wear and tear. The hair shaft also contains hydrogen bonds which give your hair its flexibility. The hair shaft is made up of three layers, the cortex, the medulla, and the cuticle. The cortex forms your hair s colour. It contains long keratin filaments held together by hydrogen bonds and disulphide and the health of the cortex depends of the cuticle protecting it. For many Cubans the Batista government was simply a puppet regime with the puppet masters being wealthy Americans. This was because his economic policies favoured foreign investors and did little for the development of domestic industries, which resulted in the wealth of the country being concentrated in the hands of a wealthy white minority. Consequently, in the 1950s, this harsh regime caused political resistance to reach to its boiling point. In response to these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Prior to the development of Cuban American communities, 1940 census reflected the population of South Florida being 172,172. Approximately 99.9% of the population spoke English and over 92% of the population was white. The growth of Cuban American communities in South Florida drastically altered this demography. Today, Florida is now the third largest state in the nation, with more than 20 million people in 2015. Florida s growth can best be termed a population boom facilitated by a series of migration. Although migration from other northern states continues to be a major contributor to population growth, international migration plays a more important role, particularly in the south. According to the Pew Research Center 2015 statistical profile of Hispanics of Cuban origin, there is an estimated 2 million who live in the United States. This accounts for 3.7 percent of the overall Latino population. Cuban Americans are the most regionally concentrated, with approximately 70 percent residing in South Florida. This change in demography has also carried linguistic implications. The first wave of immigrants who arrived in the United States all thought that they were in temporary exile and it was only a matter of time before the new government was overthrown and they would be able to return to their island home. Consequently, unlike many other immigrant groups they made little attempts to assimilate in the United States, instead they maintained their culture, customs and more importantly their language. Slow learning students may lag behind due to their passive nature or lack of confidence (King, 1993). One of these artists was Bruce Springsteen, who has paved the way for the rock genre since his 1975 album, Born to Run. While global issues continued at the hands of politicians, no one quite captured the average Americans issues like Bruce Springsteen s Born to Run. Preformed and composed entirely by Springsteen, with primary producer Jon Landau and incredible accompaniment by the wide range E Street Band, the album flawlessly depicted normal Americans problems with the decaying American dream and crumbling ideals. Bruce Springsteen, through insightful lyrics and instrumentation, successfully and emotionally showcased common American ideals through his Born to Run album. Before his successful breakout album, Springsteen endured the uncertain and unstable society created in the wake of World War II. The United States, in the midst of Cold War tensions on a global scale, faced domestic challenges as social reform movements protested for natural rights and American troop removal from Vietnam ( Modern America ). On the musical side of American society, deaths of influential artists, such as legendary rock guitarist Jimi Hendrix and blues singer Janis Joplin, and the demise of the 1960s counterculture soured the entrance into the 1970s. Born in a struggling working class New Jersey in late 1949, Springsteen observed the nature of blue collar life first hand through his family, despite the increase of affluent, suburban life ( Springsteen s Born to Run ). These early life experiences influenced Springsteen s songwriting themes and provided an escape through music. Although Springsteen had established his musical career before 1975, he had yet to achieve commercial success ( Springsteen, Bruce ). Destined to become the next icon in the rock genre, Columbia Records allowed Springsteen one final attempt to create a profitable record ( Springsteen, Bruce ). Accounting Standards Codification ( Asc ) Accounting Standards Codification (ASC) 470 20 25 10 defines convertible bonds as debt securities which are convertible into common stock of the issuer or an affiliated company at a specified price at the option of the holder, (Schulman, 2014). Convertible bonds Under APB Opinion No. 14 you are allowed to ignore the conversion and treat the convertible bonds as a straight debt. This approach is defended on the basis that the bond and conversion option are not separable. Thus the conversion feature itself, regardless of its nature, has no marketable valuation, (Schroeder, Clark Cathey, 2014, p. 392). MRPS impose an obligation that requires the issuer to transfer assets or issue into equity shares. Unless the redemption of redeemable stock is required to occur only upon the liquidation or termination of the reporting entity, the stock should be classified as a liability. (Schroeder, Sevin, Schauer, 2006) The GAAP treatment of preferred stock does affect companies that are closely held, non public companies. Large firms that are under this category do issue MRPS, as the result of this, the effect of this new standard as potentially eliminating the net worth of the non public companies that have issued MRPS. (Schroeder, Sevin, Schauer, 2006) The other issue at the beginning of the conversion of MRPS from not being reported as a liability to being required to report the MRPS is a liability on the balance sheet. This would have caused debt covenant violations, which would have hampered the firm s ability to borrow additional debt. Not only will firms balance sheets show an increase in liabilities, but also ratios related to a firm s debt will be affected, as well. Debt to equity ratios and debt to asset ratios will deteriorate as a result of FAS 150, which could jeopardize bond and loan covenants, (McCarthy, Schneider Seese, 2004). • 44. The Theory Of Self Defense Self defense is described in the dictionary as; the act of defending one s person when physically attacked, as by countering blows or overcoming an assailant ( self defense, n.d.). The concept of self defense appears well defined; however, the tactics allowed to protect oneself have evolved just as America has. As technology and weaponry advance, the need for clearer laws pertaining to the actions allowed by an individual need to be reevaluated and clearly communicated. Starting in early colonial times and moving through history, there is a great deal of differences between the self defense that was once permitted and what is acceptable and tolerated today. In early colonial times, Europeans began settling in America. During this time, there was a need for self defense from both the Native Americans who were already settled on the new land and from the European invaders who wanted to take it over. Self defense was originally termed the first law of nature, and citizens were allowed to use deadly force whenever they judged it necessary. This practice of self defense existed during a time where the individual was considered the ... judge, jury, and executioner (Cornell, 2013). While being attacked, an individual was allowed to determine the course of action he or she could take to protect himself or herself whether it be retreating or killing the perpetrator. Curtis second analyst was different from her first. According to Curtis, competition with this analyst was nonexistent. Annoyances that occurred because of the first analyst did not occur with the second analyst. The second analyst did not conform to one theory causing Curtis to feel more connected with this analyst. Curtis also felt that this analyst did not overuse the theory of transference (Curtis, 2011). Curtis states that during this experience, I could speak freely but learned to think more carefully about the consequences in advance, at least about some of them some of the time (Curtis, p. 802). Value of Article: I find this article to be enlightening about how different types of therapies affect the same individual. Curtis had experience with two types of group therapies before she interned, however she still learned from the group therapy she observed during her internship. While psychotherapy did not resonate with Curtis, psychoanalysis worked better for her. Curtis depicts two encounters with psychoanalysis that had two drastically different methods and results. The value of this article is that it shows individuals that even though one method of therapy did not work another ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
