Speech On Indigenous Poetry
Introduction
This presentation will discuss Indigenous poetry and talk about one particular poem to celebrate
contemporary Indigenous poetry. Poetry is powerful because the pen is mightier than the sword , it is
emotional and is an aesthetic response to words. Poetry is used as a means of expressing issues and
bringing attention to problems. Here, the poem brings attention to the old Australian mindset and talks
about racism. Poetry can also bring changes in certain topics, because it encourages public discourse,
it raises awareness, and lets people see things from other people s perspective. Today, this presentation
will talk about the poet, Charmaine Papertalk Green, the poem, A White Australian Mindset and will
discuss what ethical issue the poem is about. Then, this speech will analyse the main themes and
messages which are shown through different poetic devices, and I will argue that the poem is effective
in communicating its message.
Poet and Poem
The poet, Charmaine Papertalk Green, was born in 1962 in Western Australia, and is an indigenous
Australian poet. The poem discusses the White Australia Policy and the effect that this policy had on
non white people who were living in Australia at this time. It explicitly states some of the racist
comments that were made to these people. The poem also talks about the British having claimed the
land from the Aboriginal people and trying to keep the country all white. Importantly, the poem
discusses that this was

Appendices 1. Why is it necessary to use cold concentrated HCl? Why is it added in excess?
It is important to use cold concentrated HCl because keeping the temperature of the acid low will
increase the fraction of the SN1 product so to increase the yield. Keeping it cold will help prevent loss
of the volatile product after it is formed.
2. Why is solid NaHCO3 used instead of aqueous NaHCO3?
It is the primary standard for acid base titrations because it is solid and air stable,

Effects Of Abolish Minimum Wage
Abolish Minimum Wage
According to the Minimum Wage Review 2015, conducted by the Ministry of Business, Innovation
and Employment (MBIE), when the minimum wage was set at $14.75, 74,900 people were impacted.
The same study showed that by increasing the minimum wage by only 5.1% to $15.25 an additional
77,800 people would be affected and it would cost the Government $22.82million dollars annually.
According to the 2016 Minimum Wage Review, again conducted by MBIE, after the minimum wage
was set to $15.25, if they were to increase the minimum wage to $19.25 (still below the recommended
living wage of $20.20) approximately 28,000 people would lose their jobs and there would be an
increased cost of approximately $543.55million dollars annually.
While we all know that a higher than minimum wage income would go a long way towards raisin
economic standards of areas where minimum wage jobs are prevalent, a higher minimum wage could
also have adverse effects as well (Laffer, 2016). For employees, minimum wage work translates into
income, standard of living, education and taxes which make up our entire economy (Laffer, 2016). For
employers, minimum wage creates competitive pressures and productivity, taxes and living standards
for investors, suppliers and employers themselves (Laffer, 2016). Minimum wage reduces job growth
over several years and for every 10% increase there is a 1 2% reduction in low skilled employment
(Neumark, 2015). However, it s not just employers and employees

Solving the Road Safety Problem in United States
In the United States alone, there are almost 11 million traffic accidents per year, leading to 36 million
fatalities (United States Census Bureau, 2012). These numbers are even higher in developing nations,
where nearly half of the world s registered vehicles are located but practically all (90%) of traffic
accident fatalities occur (Toroyan, 2009). Most of these fatalities can be prevented via public policy
measures, and policy is essential to improve road safety worldwide. Road safety must become a part
of global public policy through means such as education, awareness, and public relations. To improve
road safety, though, great amounts of resources are required for the improvement of roads and the
safety of vehicles too. Resources are also necessary to bolster the laws related to traffic, and the
enforcement of those laws. Issues like vehicle design must also be taken into consideration. Road
safety therefore requires a complex and comprehensive public policy that includes extensive
assessment, thorough implementation, multifaceted monitoring, and ongoing evaluation. Extensive
assessment of each community s problems and needs is the first step towards improving road safety
worldwide. Ogden (1996) points out that determining the solutions to road safety problems such as
traffic fatalities requires first an assessment of the nature and dimensions of the road safety problem.
Assessment begins first with an evaluation of the region s road conditions and the types of vehicles

Indigenous Health Essay
Causative considerations are multifactorial regarding the development of low health literacy rates in
Aboriginals, inclusive of socio economical disadvantages, geographical considerations, and
social/environmental influences (Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet, 2015). Differing
conceptualisations of reality or worldview are present within Aboriginal culture, which vary from
westernised civilisation. Indigenous history lacks a biomedical background, and encompasses
differing views of disease/illness, which may be associated with personal actions/behaviours, social
order, and spiritual health. As an example, disease may be viewed as the consequence of
sorcery/voodoo (Vass, Mitchell, Dhurrkay, 2011). Other factors may stem from mistrust of
westernised medicine/civilisation due to The Stolen Generation or social engineering and previous
cultural genocide (Shahid, Finn, Thompson, 2009), English as a second language, and lack of
connection/engagement with westernised pedagogy frameworks for health teaching (Yunkaporta,
2009). Other considerations may correlate to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In indigenous culture, mental illness, inclusive of psychosis/dissociative disorder may be attributed to
cultural distress. Such distress may originate from British colonisation, but is as recent as the Stolen
Generation with Aboriginal decimation/cultural devastation and attempted cultural eradication via
genocide. Current issues of racism and socioeconomic disadvantage are also attributable (Australian
Council for Educational Research., the Kalunga Research Network., Telethon Institute for Child
Health Research, 2010). Due to the plethora of causative factors regarding poor literacy, nurses face

Use Of Mobile Phones On Teenagers
Abuse of Mobile Phones by Teenagers
Have you ever buried your face in your smartphone for hours? Have you missed out on events or told
your friends you couldn t hang out because you just wanted to stay at home and watch Netflix or play
video games? If so, you probably have, or have previously had, an addiction to technology. The first
Apple iPhone was only released ten years ago, and it is becoming a bigger issue for this generation s
teenagers. Teenagers are abusing modern technology it s affecting them and others negatively because
it encourages irritability and depression, discourages face to face interaction, and puts teenager s
privacy and safety at risk.
To begin, technology affects teenagers mindset negatively. First, it can result in a lack of chemicals,
such as melatonin, a chemical triggered in your brain that helps you reach a state of relaxation. This
can be faulty to a regular sleep basis of a teenager, and it can take away from the eight to ten hours of
sleep that teenagers need, according to multiple studies. According to Dr . Lawrence J. Epstein, People
who have problems with sleep are at increased risk for developing emotional disorders, depression,
and anxiety. Not only does sleep trigger anger, but competitiveness does as well; multiple forms of
social media support this idea that having more friends is better, even if you don t know who they are.
The more followers you have, the more liked, respected and admired you are by your fellow peers.

Charles is saved from the guillotine when Sydney uses their nearly identical appearances to switch

Like TOTC, Bruce Wayne and Batman in The Dark Knight Rises are two halves. Bruce is part of the

Like TOTC, sacrifice is a big theme in the movie. Alfred keeps telling Bruce not to throw his life

Hunger Is A Moral And Humanitarian Crisis
Despite all the atrocities and problems that bedevil the world, what has always horrified me is the
hunger that exists amidst the world of so much plenty. Indeed, hunger exists even in the First World
countries, including the most advanced nation, the United States of America. It is inconceivable how
even the poorest nations allocate big portions of their budgets to military hardware and not food
production. Hunger is a moral and humanitarian crisis, exacerbated by unjust policies and practices,
market distortions caused by excessive financial speculation by the deviation of food resources to
produce energy (News VA).The overall effect is that the population of people who are hungry is
increasing, instead of decreasing, despite the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem is more common on the streets where the homeless depend on the increasingly unreliable
Food Stamp for their upkeep. However, the countries that are most affected by chronic are some of the
most impoverished in the world. A good example is Honduras. The Republic of Honduras is the
second poorest country in Central America, with persistent poverty and inequality challenges and a per
capita income of about US$1,880 in 2010 (Rural Poverty Portal). 62.8% of Hondurans live in poverty
(World Bank, 2013).This puts Honduras in the league of the least developed nations on earth. With a
population of only eight million people, it is surprising how the state has failed to channel funds to
agricultural activities in order to feed its small population comfortably. 62.8% of Hondurans live in
poverty, and 6 out of 10 of households are subject to extreme poverty of incomes of less than $1.25
per day (World Bank, 2013). This situation is replicated in almost every country that is at the bottom
of economic food chain. Still, the Honduras hunger story reads like a horror movie as it is affecting
almost every child born and brought up in the country. With one in every four children suffering from
chronic malnutrition, one doesn t have to look far in Honduras to find a child in desperate need of
food (World Food Programme). Obviously, this is a chilling statistics. And with shortage

Twin Family Studies
Researchers that have investigated social phobia has also suggested that family factors may be
responsible for social phobia, but in a biological way. Twin and family studies on social phobia has
suggested that genetic factors play an important role in the development of social phobia at any stage
of a human life. As twin studies are designed to specifically differentiate the two twin s behaviour.
Comparisons between twins has resulted in the conclusion that there is a concordance rate between
twins and that genetic factors plays a limited role in the chances of developing social phobia. An
example of a twin study (Kendler et al. 1992) constructed using only female participants produced a
set of statistical data for the concordance rate between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Daniels Plomin (1985) investigated infant shyness, although the shyness of infants do not
directly suggest that the infants suffer from social phobia as they cannot verbally express anything, it
is only fair to argue that since infants rarely interact with any outside factors because of their weak
immune systems they are the least influenced by environmental factors and therefore should provide
the more reliable results than individuals at other ages. The results of the research showed that infant
shyness was found to be significantly correlated with shyness in biological mothers but was not as
correlated with shyness in adopted mothers. Other twin studies such as Rose and Ditto (1983) also
submitted evidence of the concurrence rate in fear between monozygotic and dizygotic twins during
adolescence. The results suggested that the concurrence rate of fear was higher in monozygotic twins
than in dizygotic twins, also the researchers revealed that a twin s fearfulness could be predicted from

The Effects of Global Warming: The Mountain Pine Beetle and Northwestern American Pine Forests
Across Northwestern America the climate has protected pine forests from parasitic mountain pine
beetles for millennia, but due to recent global climate warming these delicate ecosystems are
experiencing an extreme shift. Normally the beetle population explodes every 25 years or so when
there is a spell of warm winters and hot dry summers. In this natural cycle the beetles kill most of the
older pines. The dead trees lose their needles over the next few years and open the canopy letting light
in. This frees space and nutrients allowing new tree growth. Historically, the climate system kept the
beetle population ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Increased temperatures cause warmer winters and hotter, dryer summers, allowing the beetle
population to expand and put the forests in jeopardy. There are multiple negative effects associated
with the beetle s deforestation. Such deforestation causes a positive climate feedback loop, economic
loss for the lumber and tourism industries, and hydrological impacts, which include alteration of storm
water run off levels, water turbidity, and water quality effects. The impacts of global warming on the
mountain pine beetle population have resulted in unprecedented effects on the Northwestern American

Wound Assessment Essays
Introduction The process of wound assessment requires accurate and appropriate interventions while
dealing with the patients. There are some major components which the operator must consider to
effectively access an infection, and they require a range of skills and knowledge. These factors are the
knowledge of relevant anatomy and physiology, the understanding of the various factors that
accelerate wound growth, and the ability to listen and understand the patient s needs. In wound

Question 1: Importance of having information concerning the postoperative assessment during nursing
admission The assessment of the patient s care needs is based on the type of infection. As such, nurses
have the responsibility of providing a high quality health care to the patients. The postoperative
assessment involves assessing the patient s perceptions related to behavior and physiologic responses.
It also involves the monitoring of the pain from the patient during the treatment period based on the
operations performed. In postoperative assessment, the patient s wound is monitored in relation to the
healing frequency, pain felt, and the availability of some foreign substances like the body discharges.
Obtaining the information relating to post operative assessment ensures that the patient is well taken
care of by the nurse after operations, and avoids incidences of other circumstances that might hinder
quick healing (Grocott, 2007). Once the patient gathers the information concerning the postoperative
assessment, then a decision is made whether to seek medication from the same hospital or look for
other alternatives. In the case of Sophie, it was clear that the nurses were not keen in following the
postoperative assessment, therefore, causing the wound to obtain infections.

I asked Hilgenbrink, What types of feedback and information do you have to give to the community or
police headquarters? He said First off we have to write citations to enforce the law and then we have
to talk to our supervisor about any laws that could be removed. Citations involve a lot of paperwork
and this is one my least favorite things to do. They have to give parking, speeding, and all other type
of fines to bring revenue into the city and to enforce the law. These citations consist of two pages of
content pertaining to the law that an individual has broken. If the community has a problem with a law
they can discuss it with the city council or it can be discussed at town hall meetings.
Genres are types of texts that are recognizable to the reader and writers, and meet the needs of the
rhetorical situation in which they function. (Swales 467) I asked Hilgenbrink, What texts or books do
police officers use every day? He said I think the text or book that we use every day is the laws that
we enforce. This is pretty simple because the laws are stated in the state s constitution which the

Oso Logos
I would like to address the lack of partnership with the Institute for Faith and Learning. This issue has
already been discussed at length with Dr. Kevin Jackson and a compromise had been reached.
As far as we understood, the partnership with the Institute for Faith and Learning was suggested as a
form of oversight. It is understandable that Baylor has no interest in condoning a problematically
radical or heretical religious group. Oso Logos is by no means such a group but we understand that
precautions must be taken.

The Pledge Of Allegiance And Star Spangled Banner
The Pledge of Allegiance and Star Spangled Banner are examples of compulsive patriotism in
America that not everyone can see. The Pledge of Allegiance and the Star Spangled Banner are
orthodoxes Americans have recited for many years since they were created during the 1800 s. The
Pledge of Allegiance was practiced everyday in the beginning of class, starting at kindergarten, having
all the students and teachers participate. I do not call to mind ever learning about what the pledge
signified or meant. Never did I ask myself why we said this pledge of allegiance every single day, it
was just a mandatory order of each day. The Star Spangled Banner is the national anthem that is
recited before sporting events and official government procedures. Both are traditions in America that
show pride for their country, it s freedom, and history. Since the Pledge of Allegiance was something
that was recited every single school morning, it did not have much importance to me and just became
a school routine, you stand up, place your hand on your heart, say the words, and sit down. Even at
one point it became annoying to me because it was something that was sort of being forced. If you
were to not fully participate you would be scolded by the teacher or given a look. Now that I am older
I have learned more about what it means and understand that it has an emotional meaning to some
Americans. The Pledge of Allegiance is a patriotic vow to the United States to remain loyal and
obedient to the country that offers freedom and justice for all. But why do young kids have to say the
Pledge of Allegiance? I believe students should be taught the history behind the pledge and what every
line in it means and denotes. In addition, the students should be at a more mature age before having to
make this promise. Rosenbaum said The America I feel allegiance to isn t the America that requires
compulsory displays of loyalty (Rosenbaum, 56). I agree with what he said because America is
supposedly the land of the free but those free who do not participate are frowned upon and called un
american or unpatriotic. I have even seen people being told to leave the country for having different
opinions and beliefs. Rosenbaum actually compared

Liberalism and Social Contract Essay
Liberalism and Social Contract
Charles Larmore speaks of moral complexity as it exists in a pluralistic sense. The idea of pluralism
says that each and every person has their own separate conception of the good as it appears to them. It
is I virtually impossible to have to separate entities come up with the same exact concept of the Good
Life and what it holds for them. As there are these conflicts ideals that exist in each of us it is possible
for our conception of the good to come under attack from competing concepts that are held by others
around us. Some one who is Muslim may have a conception of the good that wants to eradicate me

Larmore brings this to point in the way of his modus vivendi which is useful to have a justice that
exists in the state to protect our own conception of the good respectively.
Hume wrote of justice as an artificial virtue that we create to make things in life work. Larmore thinks
that there is a problem with this idea of an artificial virtue, he argues that what distinguishes an
artificial virtue from a natural one (such as courage) cannot be that it fails to be instinctive, as Hume
wrote, (Larmore, 70 71) this is evident in that every virtue must be learned in some way either by
teaching of the intellectual or the habituation of the moral virtues that Hume considers natural. It is
important to see what Hume thought of as the circumstances of justice that are explained in two
groups, the external and the internal that cause conflict based on wants and needs and individual
concepts of the good respectively. This conflict creates a need for the virtue of justice to take care of
the problems that arise. This encompasses the principle of liberal justice that is necessary for anyone
to keep their conception of the good life. This modus vivendi or way of living is a means of
accommodation between the political right and the individual concept of the good. It is a sort of
pragmatic principle the helps us all get along in this pluralistic setting of any society. This comes of

I, like a student, have spent so much time worrying about what I have to do in the future. I have
decided to apply for the university to study an International business. That makes me feel that I need
to be critically reflective of my assignments in order to improve my future student s performance. If
an assignment gone wrong, I have to dwell on it and re examine why it went wrong because I do not

As I am working part time and studying full time, I had to manage my time and fit in the preparation
for the assignments and other course work. I have spent evenings and weekends by re writing the
assignment again and again, because as a future university student, I am always aiming to get the
highest possible mark and I know that the good time management is an important part of my studies as
well as an 100% attendance that is why I never missed any lesson.
When I started to write my first draft, I was surprised and impressed how quickly and easily I have put
all important information together. Once I have started to write I could not stop. I have written over
2000 words and then I have realised that I need to remove at least 700 words. This was the hardest
part of the writing as I was afraid I will remove some important parts which could decrease my mark.
Although my tutor was happy with my first draft, I still could improve it, I only needed to know that I
am on the right way. He also said the emphasis must be also placed on the grammar and punctuality
which is one of my biggest problems.
When I have finally submitted the assignment, I felt very confident, but I was worried same time,
because the entry requirements for the university I applied for requires to pass the assignment at merit.
A couple of weeks later, my tutor has informed us with the results. I was very happy and proud when I

Narrative Essay About Baseball
Lights blaring into my eyes, the crack of the bat, the shouting of the overly devoted parents, the salty
aroma arising off of the freshly roasted peanuts, all came together to create the overwhelming
presence of a little league baseball game. This was a place where I spent most of my time on week day
afternoons, in the spring, watching my brother succeed at America s pastime. He was really quite good
at this sport called baseball; he had just been granted the position of starting pitcher for the team.
Sometimes things that have occurred in my life, and stuff I have received, that I may not have
necessarily deserve, can be taken for granted. However, after what was about to take place my eyes
are given a new perspective. My brother s baseball game had just concluded, which was marked by
the sound of a buzzer. The final score: 14 4. His team had clearly won, and the parents around were
saying Congratulations son!
However all my brother needed from me was a good game! Mainly because it was an expectation,
from my dad and I that Austin would play well.
My dad figured in order to celebrate the win, we would run by Dairy Queen and pick up a little snack
size Blizzard. However, we would never make it there...
Sitting in the car while my dad was driving us home, we came to a stop at a red light. I can still
remember Katy Perry s voice in the background as we came to that stop, saying Do you ever feel, like
a plastic bag. When the light turned green, my dad accelerated

What Does The Pear Tree Symbolize In Their Eyes Were...
In the novel Their Eyes Were Watching God, written by Zora Neale Hurston, the use of symbols helps
the reader understand Janie. At the earliest moments in the book, symbols are used to describe how
Janie feels and what her emotions are like without addressing them. From the time she experiences
what love feels like, Janie tries to find it throughout the books. The pear tree is used throughout the
novel, from the time of Janie s time as a teenager till the end of her relationship with Tea Cake. It has
numerous appearances that at the end connect and help the reader understand Janie s venture to find
love. Hurston uses the pear tree to show the development of Janie s fantasy of love and her search for
it in the novel.

When meeting Joe Starks and running off to marry him, she has thoughts about how he is going to be
the bee for her bloom (32). Janie believes that Joe will be someone who is going to open up the
feelings from the experience with the pear tree in her, like how the bees pollinate the flowers of the
tree. As the dust baring bee sinks into the sanctum of a bloom , it created a feeling of love and respect
for each part (11). Moreover, since bees have a very important relationship with flowers, like the ones
on the pear tree, and their process of blooming, Janie feels that the marriage will be strong. Joe, in
addition, promises Janie she will be living at a high standard, things Logan was unable to give her.
However, she later realizes she has made another mistake with this marriage, leaving her to imagine
the shadow of herself going about tending the store and prostrating itself before Jody, while all the
time she herself sat under a shady tree with the wind blowing through her hair and her clothes.
Somebody near about making summertime out of lonesomeness. (77). The reader can easily see the
disconnect between Janie s current life and the life she wants to live. For her dream to be a reality , she
needs to escape her real life in order to do so, which she sees as a lonesome task. When comparing it

Why Did The Homeland Security Act Of 2002 Change The Cbp
1 What is the role of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in securing trade in maritime ports?
Additionally, how did the Homeland Security Act of 2002 change the structure of CBP?
The Homeland Security Act of 2002 changed the structure of many organizations and agencies within
the law enforcement realm. The horrific terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 brought to light the
many shortcomings our country had when it came to the gathering on intelligence, information sharing
and the overall response and protection of the country. The Homeland Security Act of 2002 is a direct
reflection and response to those very short falls. Under the Homeland Security Act of 2002, the
structure of the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) changed drastically. On March 1, 2003,
employees from the U.S Customs Service, Immigration and Naturalization Service and Animal and
Plant Health Inspection Service came together to create the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection
(Staff, 2016, p. 1).
The CBP has an extremely important role in protecting the United States border and that most
certainly involves protecting the maritime and port operations within the United States. Under the

The Relationship Between Human Relations And Public Relations
Human relations refers to everything we do with, for, and to each other as citizens and as human
beings (Dempsey, 2014, pg. 330). An example is officers integrating ongoing training initiatives for
departments to establish respect within communities, regardless of color, ethnicity, economic status or
sexual orientation. Public relations is a strategic communication process that builds strong
relationships between the public and organizations. The public relations approach reflects efforts to
improve the public s perception of the police, by informing the public why departments and officers
do what they do and enhancing their public image as first responders and community helpers.
Community relations really ties both human relations and public relations together. Communities rely
on police departments to protect and serve and the police, in turn, rely on community support and
cooperation, but the relationship is not always harmonious (RAND, 2017). They could be either
negative or positive, depending on the type of interaction. An example of this is by taking active
interests in the community problems, participating in local government, or simply going to youth
activities such as middle/high school events. Involvement in community programs and neighborhood
projects can bring the citizens together with police by creating a purpose to build unity and show a
more personable side of the police.

America has always been known as a melting pot , especially with all the minority population that

challenges with certain racial and ethnic compositions. Ethical and racial minorities regarded 90% of
the population growth in the United States from 2000 2010, and the United States is very rapidly
becoming even more diverse (Dempsey, 2014, p. 334). These conflicting accounts arise, in part,
because of differing

The Link Between Poverty And Diabetes
According to the American Diabetes Association, more Americans die each year from diabetes than
from AIDS and breast cancer combined. As a result, researchers have extensively studied the causes,
treatments, and interventions for diabetes. Despite efforts to ameliorate its effects, diabetes remains a
prevalent danger in society. In 2014, 7% of U.S. adults were living with diagnosed diabetes (Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2016). In Louisiana that number was even higher 10.4%
of adults have been diagnosed with diabetes. Breaking it down by age group, however, in Louisiana
3% of people aged 18 and 44 have been diagnosed, and 15.2% of people 45 64. (Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention [CDC], 2015a). Several studies have predicted future rates of diabetes both in
the United States and worldwide nearly all of these studies reached a similar conclusion: rates of
diabetes will continue to rise (Boyle et al., 2001).
Many studies have examined the link between poverty and diabetes. The CDC (2015b) have identified
the following as primary factors that lead an individual to have an increased risk of developing
diabetes: being overweight or obese; having a parent or sibling with diabetes; having African
American, American Indian, Asian American, Pacific Islander, or Hispanic American/Latino heritage;
having a history of gestational diabetes; having blood pressure measuring 140/90 or higher; abnormal
cholesterol; and being physically inactive.

Now I think that I am among the many when I say we need to put an end to this madness now, and lay

There are other ways of dealing with this threat without harming the rest of the world or innocent
people.
First, we could use our advanced technology to get information about where top ISIS targets are
located and investigate them further. Once we have higher priority targets we could send in scouts or
drones to make sure no citizens are around and if there are then we will remove them for the time
being. Then we will send in forces to put a stop to their operations and take into custody members of
ISIS and bring them in for questioning.
Second, we could continue to develop advanced robots that will be able to go into these places for us.
Now we are not quite there yet to having fully operational robots that are battle ready, but if we
continue to put our money and energy into that research then it will be possible one day to have them.
Once they are developed we can send them in and they will be able to get information and target
enemies way better than a human can. This will limit are collateral damage and save our own troops

1.1THE INTERNAL FACTORS EVALUATION (IFE) MATRIX.

PepsiCo. This strategies formulated tool is to summarize and evaluates the major strengths and
weaknesses in the functional areas of business. It also provides a basis for identifying and evaluating
relationship among those areas of a business.
Internal strength
One of the strengths that can be found in PepsiCo is in term of strong brand equity. PepsiCo has a
strong brand name in the world place and the company is well known worldwide. This company is the
best global brand in the world in terms of value of net revenue $43,251 million in the year of 2008.

which hold 44.5 percent. Coca cola is also the brand known around the worlds, which are the largest
producer and distributor of ark colas in the world. Even in the current monetary crisis, the company
continues to expand and the financial position shows that Coca cola has a strong cash position in
compare to PepsiCo which the long term debt of PepsiCo is so high.
Besides that, another internal weakness of PepsiCo is overdependence on Wal Mart. Wal Mart is the
largest warehouse and supermarket. Unfortunately, more than 13% of PepsiCo business revenues
come from Wal Mart store chain. Wal Mart has a significant buyer power and can easily dictate prices
over PepsiCo leaving it with very small margins. On top, PepsiCo would lose 13% of its revenue and
competitive advantage if the company loses Wal Mart. Therefore, it can be understand that PepsiCo
depends too much on the US market. This is one of the weaknesses that PepsiCo needs to overcome as
the external factors such as inflation can also affect the company if the company cannot be
independent.
Lastly, the internal weakness of PepsiCo is that the company is facing a negative publicity. There are
doubtful practices which accused PepsiCo is using and selling tap water. However, the company
places view of mountains on its water bottle labels. The public claim that the company deceiving

The Victorian Era And The Colonial Era

English 202
31 January 2016
The Victorian Era The Victorian Era or the romantic period was a time in which Queen Victoria ruled
the throne. The Victorian period formally began in 1837 the year in which Victoria became the Queen
of England and ended in 1901 the year in which she was laid to rest. In this paper, I will discuss
Queen Victoria s life or what we all know to be The Victorian Era. I will highlight some of the most
powerful events that occurred during this time, the many reforms that were passed during Queen
Victoria s ruling, I will discuss the political, cultural, and social developments of this time period. I
will speak about some inventions of the Victorian Era, and the two main political parties better known
as the Tory and Whigs that were popular during this age. You will discover what imperialism is, the
commonwealth, The British Monarch and why and how Victoria was such a remarkable monarch. I
will even tell you some of the most interesting facts that I have learned to be true about Queen
Victoria.

Victoria. Victoria may have been born into royalty but, she actually grew up not being surrounded by
wealth. She grew up in a normal home instead of a palace. Little did the princess know that she would

First, river is playing a very important role of public space in this story. Geographically, the river in
the story is linking both Oxford and London. The River Cherwell is a major tributary of the River
Thames in central England. It rises from Northampton, England to Oxford, England. Then, The River
Cherwell merge with The Isis which is from Oxford, England to London, England. When The Isis
arrive London s territory, it is called River Thames. River first appears as a metaphor while Harriet is
shrugging weather she should go back to Oxford despite the heated discussion of her rumor with Peter
Wimsey. But she doubted whether she were now capable of any such withdrawal. She had long ago
taken the step that put the grey walled paradise of Oxford behind her. No one can bathe in the same
river twice, not even in the Isis. (Sayers 19) This is a reference to Heraclitus, a Greek philosopher
meaning that you cannot step into the same river twice because you are changing and the river is
changing. This is also an indication of the transformation of both characters and place. The
transformation of river as Heraclitus suggests is also a symbol of changes in ideology. Her struggle on
going back to Oxford or not confirms its ideology on Feminism. She is returning to this quite place,
where only intellectual achievement counted (Sayers 18) place, rather than staying in London, a place

Hamlet As A Nihilism
William Shakespeare s Hamlet portrays as multitude of ideas, meanings and interpretations. In this
essay, I will focus on analyzing Hamlet through the post modern existential lens of nihilism. Nihilism
has five main types; political, moral, epistemological, cosmic, and existential. Throughout the course
of the play, Hamlet shows many characteristics that showcase these principles , such as apathy and
despair. Hamlet is a nihilist character because through his actions of mania and despair he shows that
life is overall meaningless. He also has a lack of respect for authority and a rejection of moral
principles. Throughout the play, Hamlet shows a general disdain of authority figures In his perspective

Hamlet s wants and desires are completely out of joint with the atmosphere of Elsinore (Bloom).
Hamlet s desires do not follow the status quo of the rest of the people in the caste, or even that of his
time. This is because Hamlet has rejected typical principles and made his own. Moral nihilists refer to
ethical values as nothing more than what each individual gives bias or favor to (Carr). Hamlet s soul is
an empty vase that gives place to nothing (Cutrofello). Following his father s death, Hamlet feels life
has little meaning, he feels hopeless and believes there is no longer any thing good or worth living for
in life. As he describes in Act 1, How weary, stale, flat and unprofitable seem to me all the uses of this
world... Tis an unweeded garden... (1:1, lines 136 139). In this line, Hamlet is explaining that
comparing life after his father s death to a garden that is overgrown and dead; unweeded, flat and
stale. The last and deepest source only reveals itself at the point in which all our foundations have
been destroyed (Carr). This quote expresses perfectly what Hamlet is feeling, he lost one of the most
important figures to him, which ultimately caused his madness and insanity later in the play. The
source that was revealed after his foundation, his father, was lost was Hamlet s sense of mortality.
Hamlet s sense of his own mortality can be seen at various points through the play, for example,
Hamlet expresses suicidal tendencies in a famous

The Effects Of Juvenile Delinquency On Teens
It is very normal in the cities that shown these crime rates have been rapidly increasing. Usually it has
been occurred in rural or urban areas. Increase of population in urban shows poverty, unstable,
underdevelopment, deficiency and lack of housing areas. Theses can also affect teens that increase
doing crimes in which it called juvenile delinquency. There are two terms that define juvenile
delinquency, 1: conduct by a juvenile characterized by antisocial behavior that is a beyond parental
control and therefore subject to legal action; 2: a violation of law committed by a juvenile and not
punishable by death or live imprisonment. (Cite). In this topic, I will explain more about family
factors in which it has major influence on teens such as the way parents discipline a child, parental
conflict or separation, parental abuse or neglect or criminal parents or siblings. What has causes
children to act out? It could be because they want some attention or misbehave when they are afraid.
They misbehave when they also feel bad about themselves and learn bad behaviors by copying you.
There will be four articles that I summarized that related with juvenile and give out some resources to

Summary Of Marrying Absurd
In Marrying Absurd , Joan Didion illustrates the nonsensical circus that marriage in Las Vegas is. The
city makes the ceremony of marriage out to be the clown at the circus, and there is no respect for it.
Using Las Vegas and its dysfunctional behavior as its backdrop, Didion was able to cleverly ridicule
marriage as an institution and the wedding industry as a whole. She was able to say that if marriage
was allowed in the city where Dressing Rooms, Flowers, Rings , and other services were a common
staple, then there was something wrong with the institution as a whole. Didion effectively argued that
unrealistic expectations were just used as a cash cow for the wedding industry and the Strip chapels .
Throughout the essay, Didion

Since 2011, the Company has been in the business of mining and selling sand and related products.
Primarily, the Company sells a product referred to as dry silica which is largely used in oil gas
operations, particularly in dry casing the wells created through horizontal fracturing ( Fracking )
operations. Secondarily, the Company also sells washed silica sand and fill dirt. Washed silica sand is
generally used as top dressing for sports facilities; particle board; foundry and masonry sand; and
mortar productions. Fill dirt is generally purchased by landscapers and construction contractors.
a. The Refining Process
The Company has its headquarters, and one mine with one pit located in Texas. The Company s Texas
mine is located in the Paluxy sand formation. The Company s Paluxy sand is non consolidated and is
dug out using excavators and shovels. The Company does not perform any blasting to extract its sand.
All sand is extracted through digging.
Once extracted, the sand is hauled via truck to a primary feeder. Once placed in the primary feeder, it
is slurrified and screened to remove overburden and other oversized non sand particles. The sand
slurry is then pumped to the onsite washing plant. The washing plant serves 2 functions, washing and
sizing. Once entering the washing plant, sand is rinsed by fresh water. The sand is then placed into
sizing apparatus.
The Company uses both cyclones and hydrosizers for sand sizing. The cyclones

Essay on Ramifications of the Juvenile Justice Waiver
Social workers in the court room play an major role in helping to decide whether or not a child should
be charged as an adult for committing a crime while a minor. A minor being sent to juvenile court does
not necessarily mean that the minor will be tried as an juvenile. It is also the responsibility of the court
to determine if the minor should stay in juvenile court of be moved into adult criminal court. A social
work assigned to the minor as well as the defense attorney, prosecutor, and judge will argue in court to
decide the minors fate. This social policy that is used in the court system is known as the Juvenile
Justice Waiver. The Juvenile Justice Waiver is the practice of transferring jurisdiction over a juvenile
from juvenile or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In some states there are similarity to this historical Common Law Principle of Responsibility . As to
be expected, states have different laws regarding matters of juveniles. Many states vary when
determining whether or not a children should be tried as an adult or what the minimum or maximum
ages courts must follow or what crimes they are allowed try are. Taking Illinois for example, the set
age required by law for a children to be transferred into adult court is seventeen. However, in Illinois
there is a major exception to this rule. State law changes the minimum age to fifteen when crimes of
murder of the first degree, aggravated sexual assault, armed robbery, robbery with possession of a
firearm, and use of weapons on school grounds are committed (Carp, Stidham, and Manning, 67).
Illinois considers these offenses the most serious. Another type of waiver that can take place is a
waiver into teen court. 300 different jurisdictions are experimenting with this idea. Teen court is a
helpful alternative to juvenile court. This court also helps keeps the labeling stigma of convict off of a
juvenile offender. These courts typically handle juvenile offenders between the ages of ten and fifteen
who are being charges with minor violations such as disorderly conduct, shoplifting, and other types
of criminal mischief. Most of these juvenile offenders have no prior arrest record and have never done
anything wrong before in their lives. These juveniles

Welfare Recipients Abusing the System
The welfare faults
America spends an annual amount of 131.9 billion dollars on welfare alone (Department of
Commerce). So many facts about welfare are overwhelming, such that over 12,800,000 Americans are
on the welfare system. The entire social welfare system is in desperate need of a complete reform. In
order for a proper reform to ensue, the people of America must combine efforts with the U.S.
government to revitalize the current welfare system. This reform would involve answering two
important questions. First, how has today s welfare system strayed from its original state and secondly,
how is the system abused by welfare holders in today s economy? As of January 1, 2014, roughly
4.1% of Americans are welfare, which is not what the system was designed to do (Department of
Commerce). Welfare was originally created in the 1930 s during the Great Depression in order to aid
to citizens with little to no income (welfareinfo.org). It was a response to the great number of people
without jobs and who desperately needed assistance with money and basic needs such as food and
shelter (welfareinfo.org). For the next 61 years the United States government would hold control of
the welfare system (welfareinfo.org). According to the Department of Commerce, 46,700,000
Americans are on food stamps (Department of Commerce). The Department of Commerce divided
welfare recipients into categories of race finding that, 39.8% of welfare holders are African American
(Department of Commerce).

The Whig Interpretation Of History Essay
History may be examined and interpreted in many different ways. This is because there is little
evidence that had survived to go by in which historians have to use to study the past. Evidence,
written and made by the historical people themselves, include but are not limited to written
documents, such as books and letters, and material culture, as in art and architecture. Now, because the
original authors or artists are not alive to tell the story, historians have to examine the evidence left
behind to make an educated judgment on what had really happened in the past. This judgment or
argument is always incomplete and up for revision as more evidence is found as time passes by.
Although many conclusions can be generated from one piece of evidence, arguments can be biased,
leading to different, possibly incorrect, views of history. In his essay, The Whig Interpretation of
History, Herbert Butterfield elaborates on the matter that many historians tend to write on the behalf
on a Protestant or Whig point of view when researching about history. The argument he has provided
in his essay states that the whig interpretation of history relates to the act of abstracting [ideas and
events] from their historical context and judging them apart from their context estimating them and
organizing the historical story by a system of direct reference to the present (Butterfield 30). To
Butterfield, studying the past in the eyes of the present is one of the biggest errors a historian

Iranian Hostage Crisis Created by Severe Hatred of the...
The Iranian Hostage Crisis wasn t the result of a spontaneous uproar of the Iranian people in an
overtaking of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, Iran. Rather, the crisis was the result of a lengthy series of
chaotic events that caused many of the Iranian people to develop a severe hatred of the United States.
According to Mark C. Carnes and John A. Garraty s The American Nation: A History of the United
States , During World War II, Great Britain, the Soviet Union, and later the United States occupied
Iran and forced its pro German shah into exile, replacing him with his twenty two year old son,
Muhammad Reza Pahlavi (Carnes and Garraty). In the early 1950 s, executive power was relocated to
the leftist Prime Minister Muhammad Mossadegh. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because his American supplied army and his American trained secret police kept the shah in power,
his opponents hated the United States almost as much as they hated their autocratic ruler. The shah s
rule was not one of constant decency (Carnes and Garraty). From 1977 to 1979, Iran grew more and
more unstable, as the Iranian people s hatred of the shah further intensified. 1977 saw numerous riots,
along with both the wounding and even killing of large numbers of the Iranian people. The Iranian
people finally rose up against the shah in 1978, by January of the next year the shah was forced to
flee. A revolutionary government headed by a religious leader, the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini,
assumed power. He that freedom was an enemy of Islam, as well as that Islam condoned terror.
Khomeini denounced the United States as the Great Satan whose support of the shah, he said, had
caused the Iranian people untold suffering (Carnes and Garraty). Upon his exile, the shah was dying of
cancer, after seeking refuge in numerous countries he was finally given refuge in the United States.
The Iranian people wouldn t have it, and began protesting outside the U.S. Embassy demanding the
shah be returned, tried, and hanged. The Iranian Hostage Crisis was quickly approaching.
The film Argo acts as a rather exemplary demonstration of the events which took place during the
duration of the Iranian Hostage

Another benefit of having a multi payer contract is the statutory requirement covering 2 5 fiscal years
(10 USC 2306b). Some of the advantage of using the multi year contract for the company includes
higher profit potential, little control by the government, less financial audit and defined specification.
There are some disadvantages including risk assumption relates to financial and technical
assumptions. The government would have the advantages of risk shifts to contractor, simplifies budget
process, no responsibility of management and defined work specification. One of the disadvantage for
the government is the prices always contain some contingencies. DUI would use this fixed price
proposal because it would mean the contract expands more than one year and funded with annual
appropriation that would be a profit and growth for the

1. Identification and Evaluation of Sources
Stalin s Curse
This historical investigation assesses the following question: To what extent did Joseph Stalin cause
tension between the United States of America and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics during the
World War II era? To grasp the true cause of the Cold War, research must include insight into separate
ideals believed by each; the will of communism spread vs the will of capitalism to contain it; the
anxiety of nuclear war; and the presidency of Harry S. Truman. The main sources will include Stalin s
Curse, written by Robert Gellately, and A History of Twentieth Century Russia, authored by Robert

Service is a Professor of Russian History and Politics. His book was a secondary evaluation, published
in 1998. The purpose was to explore the actions of the Soviet government and its leader Joseph Stalin
through testimonials of firsthand accounts. This source is valuable because it brings to light the
intentions of Stalinist Russia and the conflict the USSR brought to the Eastern and Western
hemispheres. This source is valuable as it gives an objective, expansive overview of the Stalinist era
of the Soviet Union. Its contents include details of Stalin s actions and quotations of pained Russians.
Rybalchenko claims, You must lie down and die... Absolutely everyone says openly how everyone is
discontented with life. Service writes, In foreign policy, he felt nervous about the USA s ambitions.
Through both these, one can see into the terrible conditions Stalin has created in Russia. As far as
limitations go, Robert Service fails to take a side on Stalin s reign and therefore leaves the reader
feeling confused on whom is right.
2. Investigation Joseph Stalin was one of the most powerful men in history. Every decision he made
affected the world not only around the USSR, but also everywhere else. Such was clearly evident,
especially in his opposition to relations with the Capitalist Western hemisphere and oppression of his
own nation. Accordingly, Sokolsky describes Stalin s

Feudalism And The Feudal System
Knights and kings are the first thing that many people think of regarding medieval times. However,
the system was quite different and was called feudalism. Feudalism was a system that helped the king
keep control of his kingdom and be able to protect his country. The feudal system was divided into
four levels, and began around 900 A.D. and ended around 1400 A.D. Feudalism began in England
when the Romans, who were in control of the people, left and the country became unstable. The
Germanic tribes who inhabited the territory were constantly having civil wars, and had many
problems. To solve that problem, and to develop a system of to defend their country, they developed
feudalism as a form of government (Britton). Feudalism was a socio political hierarchy that had four
different ranks. This was a very simplistic and logical form of government (Bishop 95). It was a fairly
weak form of government because it was mainly established by trust in between the kings and the
barons (Bishop 97). Feudalism was prominent in Europe for many years, and it ended around 1400
A.D. due to kings becoming more powerful. The kings were able to protect themselves without having
barons because of the technology of guns. Also, the printing machine and better education made it
easier for the king to manage his land without the barons and knights. The Black Death in the mid
14th century also played a big role in the fall of feudalism because many of the serfs died, making it
harder for the knights

  • 2. Speech On Indigenous Poetry Introduction This presentation will discuss Indigenous poetry and talk about one particular poem to celebrate contemporary Indigenous poetry. Poetry is powerful because the pen is mightier than the sword , it is emotional and is an aesthetic response to words. Poetry is used as a means of expressing issues and bringing attention to problems. Here, the poem brings attention to the old Australian mindset and talks about racism. Poetry can also bring changes in certain topics, because it encourages public discourse, it raises awareness, and lets people see things from other people s perspective. Today, this presentation will talk about the poet, Charmaine Papertalk Green, the poem, A White Australian Mindset and will discuss what ethical issue the poem is about. Then, this speech will analyse the main themes and messages which are shown through different poetic devices, and I will argue that the poem is effective in communicating its message. Poet and Poem The poet, Charmaine Papertalk Green, was born in 1962 in Western Australia, and is an indigenous Australian poet. The poem discusses the White Australia Policy and the effect that this policy had on non white people who were living in Australia at this time. It explicitly states some of the racist comments that were made to these people. The poem also talks about the British having claimed the land from the Aboriginal people and trying to keep the country all white. Importantly, the poem discusses that this was ... Why is it necessary to use cold concentrated HCl? Why is it added in excess? It is important to use cold concentrated HCl because keeping the temperature of the acid low will increase the fraction of the SN1 product so to increase the yield. • 4. Effects Of Abolish Minimum Wage Abolish Minimum Wage According to the Minimum Wage Review 2015, conducted by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), when the minimum wage was set at $14.75, 74,900 people were impacted. The same study showed that by increasing the minimum wage by only 5.1% to $15.25 an additional 77,800 people would be affected and it would cost the Government $22.82million dollars annually. According to the 2016 Minimum Wage Review, again conducted by MBIE, after the minimum wage was set to $15.25, if they were to increase the minimum wage to $19.25 (still below the recommended living wage of $20.20) approximately 28,000 people would lose their jobs and there would be an increased cost of approximately $543.55million dollars annually. While we all know that a higher than minimum wage income would go a long way towards raisin economic standards of areas where minimum wage jobs are prevalent, a higher minimum wage could also have adverse effects as well (Laffer, 2016). For employees, minimum wage work translates into income, standard of living, education and taxes which make up our entire economy (Laffer, 2016). For employers, minimum wage creates competitive pressures and productivity, taxes and living standards for investors, suppliers and employers themselves (Laffer, 2016). Minimum wage reduces job growth over several years and for every 10% increase there is a 1 2% reduction in low skilled employment (Neumark, 2015). However, it s not just employers and employees ... • 5. Solving the Road Safety Problem in United States In the United States alone, there are almost 11 million traffic accidents per year, leading to 36 million fatalities (United States Census Bureau, 2012). These numbers are even higher in developing nations, where nearly half of the world s registered vehicles are located but practically all (90%) of traffic accident fatalities occur (Toroyan, 2009). Most of these fatalities can be prevented via public policy measures, and policy is essential to improve road safety worldwide. Road safety must become a part of global public policy through means such as education, awareness, and public relations. To improve road safety, though, great amounts of resources are required for the improvement of roads and the safety of vehicles too. Resources are also necessary to bolster the laws related to traffic, and the enforcement of those laws. Issues like vehicle design must also be taken into consideration. Road safety therefore requires a complex and comprehensive public policy that includes extensive assessment, thorough implementation, multifaceted monitoring, and ongoing evaluation. Extensive assessment of each community s problems and needs is the first step towards improving road safety worldwide. Ogden (1996) points out that determining the solutions to road safety problems such as traffic fatalities requires first an assessment of the nature and dimensions of the road safety problem. Assessment begins first with an evaluation of the region s road conditions and the types of vehicles ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Indigenous Health Essay Causative considerations are multifactorial regarding the development of low health literacy rates in Aboriginals, inclusive of socio economical disadvantages, geographical considerations, and social/environmental influences (Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet, 2015). Differing conceptualisations of reality or worldview are present within Aboriginal culture, which vary from westernised civilisation. Indigenous history lacks a biomedical background, and encompasses differing views of disease/illness, which may be associated with personal actions/behaviours, social order, and spiritual health. As an example, disease may be viewed as the consequence of sorcery/voodoo (Vass, Mitchell, Dhurrkay, 2011). Other factors may stem from mistrust of westernised medicine/civilisation due to The Stolen Generation or social engineering and previous cultural genocide (Shahid, Finn, Thompson, 2009), English as a second language, and lack of connection/engagement with westernised pedagogy frameworks for health teaching (Yunkaporta, 2009). Have you missed out on events or told your friends you couldn t hang out because you just wanted to stay at home and watch Netflix or play video games? If so, you probably have, or have previously had, an addiction to technology. The first Apple iPhone was only released ten years ago, and it is becoming a bigger issue for this generation s teenagers. Teenagers are abusing modern technology it s affecting them and others negatively because it encourages irritability and depression, discourages face to face interaction, and puts teenager s privacy and safety at risk. First, it can result in a lack of chemicals, such as melatonin, a chemical triggered in your brain that helps you reach a state of relaxation. This can be faulty to a regular sleep basis of a teenager, and it can take away from the eight to ten hours of sleep that teenagers need, according to multiple studies. According to Dr . Lawrence J. Hunger Is A Moral And Humanitarian Crisis Despite all the atrocities and problems that bedevil the world, what has always horrified me is the hunger that exists amidst the world of so much plenty. Indeed, hunger exists even in the First World countries, including the most advanced nation, the United States of America. It is inconceivable how even the poorest nations allocate big portions of their budgets to military hardware and not food production. With a population of only eight million people, it is surprising how the state has failed to channel funds to agricultural activities in order to feed its small population comfortably. 62.8% of Hondurans live in poverty, and 6 out of 10 of households are subject to extreme poverty of incomes of less than $1.25 per day (World Bank, 2013). This situation is replicated in almost every country that is at the bottom of economic food chain. Still, the Honduras hunger story reads like a horror movie as it is affecting almost every child born and brought up in the country. Twin and family studies on social phobia has suggested that genetic factors play an important role in the development of social phobia at any stage of a human life. As twin studies are designed to specifically differentiate the two twin s behaviour. Comparisons between twins has resulted in the conclusion that there is a concordance rate between twins and that genetic factors plays a limited role in the chances of developing social phobia. The results of the research showed that infant shyness was found to be significantly correlated with shyness in biological mothers but was not as correlated with shyness in adopted mothers. Beetles Global Warming Essay Sophie Worrell November 25th 2015 The Effects of Global Warming: The Mountain Pine Beetle and Northwestern American Pine Forests Across Northwestern America the climate has protected pine forests from parasitic mountain pine beetles for millennia, but due to recent global climate warming these delicate ecosystems are experiencing an extreme shift. Normally the beetle population explodes every 25 years or so when there is a spell of warm winters and hot dry summers. In this natural cycle the beetles kill most of the older pines. The dead trees lose their needles over the next few years and open the canopy letting light in. This frees space and nutrients allowing new tree growth. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Question 1: Importance of having information concerning the postoperative assessment during nursing admission The assessment of the patient s care needs is based on the type of infection. As such, nurses have the responsibility of providing a high quality health care to the patients. The postoperative assessment involves assessing the patient s perceptions related to behavior and physiologic responses. It also involves the monitoring of the pain from the patient during the treatment period based on the operations performed. In postoperative assessment, the patient s wound is monitored in relation to the healing frequency, pain felt, and the availability of some foreign substances like the body discharges. Obtaining the information relating to post operative assessment ensures that the patient is well taken care of by the nurse after operations, and avoids incidences of other circumstances that might hinder quick healing (Grocott, 2007). Once the patient gathers the information concerning the postoperative assessment, then a decision is made whether to seek medication from the same hospital or look for other alternatives. We want to respect the time each of these individuals dedicates to the group, not waste it by having too many advisors. We would appreciate you suggestions on finding the balance between a diverse group and an oversized crowd. We hope we adequately addressed your questions. • 17. The Pledge Of Allegiance And Star Spangled Banner The Pledge of Allegiance and Star Spangled Banner are examples of compulsive patriotism in America that not everyone can see. The Pledge of Allegiance and the Star Spangled Banner are orthodoxes Americans have recited for many years since they were created during the 1800 s. The Pledge of Allegiance was practiced everyday in the beginning of class, starting at kindergarten, having all the students and teachers participate. I do not call to mind ever learning about what the pledge signified or meant. Never did I ask myself why we said this pledge of allegiance every single day, it was just a mandatory order of each day. The Star Spangled Banner is the national anthem that is recited before sporting events and official government procedures. Both are traditions in America that show pride for their country, it s freedom, and history. Since the Pledge of Allegiance was something that was recited every single school morning, it did not have much importance to me and just became a school routine, you stand up, place your hand on your heart, say the words, and sit down. Even at one point it became annoying to me because it was something that was sort of being forced. If you were to not fully participate you would be scolded by the teacher or given a look. Now that I am older I have learned more about what it means and understand that it has an emotional meaning to some Americans. The Pledge of Allegiance is a patriotic vow to the United States to remain loyal and obedient to the country that offers freedom and justice for all. But why do young kids have to say the Pledge of Allegiance? I believe students should be taught the history behind the pledge and what every line in it means and denotes. In addition, the students should be at a more mature age before having to make this promise. Rosenbaum said The America I feel allegiance to isn t the America that requires compulsory displays of loyalty (Rosenbaum, 56). I agree with what he said because America is supposedly the land of the free but those free who do not participate are frowned upon and called un american or unpatriotic. I have even seen people being told to leave the country for having different opinions and beliefs. Rosenbaum actually compared ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. Liberalism and Social Contract Essay Liberalism and Social Contract Charles Larmore speaks of moral complexity as it exists in a pluralistic sense. The idea of pluralism says that each and every person has their own separate conception of the good as it appears to them. It is I virtually impossible to have to separate entities come up with the same exact concept of the Good Life and what it holds for them. As there are these conflicts ideals that exist in each of us it is possible for our conception of the good to come under attack from competing concepts that are held by others around us. Larmore brings this to point in the way of his modus vivendi which is useful to have a justice that exists in the state to protect our own conception of the good respectively. Hume wrote of justice as an artificial virtue that we create to make things in life work. Larmore thinks that there is a problem with this idea of an artificial virtue, he argues that what distinguishes an artificial virtue from a natural one (such as courage) cannot be that it fails to be instinctive, as Hume wrote, (Larmore, 70 71) this is evident in that every virtue must be learned in some way either by teaching of the intellectual or the habituation of the moral virtues that Hume considers natural. It is important to see what Hume thought of as the circumstances of justice that are explained in two groups, the external and the internal that cause conflict based on wants and needs and individual concepts of the good respectively. This conflict creates a need for the virtue of justice to take care of the problems that arise. This encompasses the principle of liberal justice that is necessary for anyone to keep their conception of the good life. This modus vivendi or way of living is a means of accommodation between the political right and the individual concept of the good. It is a sort of pragmatic principle the helps us all get along in this pluralistic setting of any society. This comes of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After answering the question, Mr. Standlea then asked us where can we find support for our claims in the Bible? Narrative Essay About Baseball Lights blaring into my eyes, the crack of the bat, the shouting of the overly devoted parents, the salty aroma arising off of the freshly roasted peanuts, all came together to create the overwhelming presence of a little league baseball game. This was a place where I spent most of my time on week day afternoons, in the spring, watching my brother succeed at America s pastime. He was really quite good at this sport called baseball; he had just been granted the position of starting pitcher for the team. Sometimes things that have occurred in my life, and stuff I have received, that I may not have necessarily deserve, can be taken for granted. However, after what was about to take place my eyes are given a new perspective. My brother s baseball game had just concluded, which was marked by the sound of a buzzer. The final score: 14 4. His team had clearly won, and the parents around were saying Congratulations son! However all my brother needed from me was a good game! Additionally, how did the Homeland Security Act of 2002 change the structure of CBP? The Homeland Security Act of 2002 changed the structure of many organizations and agencies within the law enforcement realm. The horrific terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 brought to light the many shortcomings our country had when it came to the gathering on intelligence, information sharing and the overall response and protection of the country. An example is officers integrating ongoing training initiatives for departments to establish respect within communities, regardless of color, ethnicity, economic status or sexual orientation. Public relations is a strategic communication process that builds strong relationships between the public and organizations. The public relations approach reflects efforts to improve the public s perception of the police, by informing the public why departments and officers do what they do and enhancing their public image as first responders and community helpers. Community relations really ties both human relations and public relations together. Communities rely on police departments to protect and serve and the police, in turn, rely on community support and cooperation, but the relationship is not always harmonious (RAND, 2017). They could be either negative or positive, depending on the type of interaction. An example of this is by taking active interests in the community problems, participating in local government, or simply going to youth activities such as middle/high school events. As a result, researchers have extensively studied the causes, treatments, and interventions for diabetes. Despite efforts to ameliorate its effects, diabetes remains a prevalent danger in society. In 2014, 7% of U.S. adults were living with diagnosed diabetes (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2016). Moral nihilists refer to ethical values as nothing more than what each individual gives bias or favor to (Carr). Hamlet s soul is an empty vase that gives place to nothing (Cutrofello). The city makes the ceremony of marriage out to be the clown at the circus, and there is no respect for it. Using Las Vegas and its dysfunctional behavior as its backdrop, Didion was able to cleverly ridicule marriage as an institution and the wedding industry as a whole. She was able to say that if marriage was allowed in the city where Dressing Rooms, Flowers, Rings , and other services were a common staple, then there was something wrong with the institution as a whole. In some states there are similarity to this historical Common Law Principle of Responsibility . As to be expected, states have different laws regarding matters of juveniles. Many states vary when determining whether or not a children should be tried as an adult or what the minimum or maximum ages courts must follow or what crimes they are allowed try are. Taking Illinois for example, the set age required by law for a children to be transferred into adult court is seventeen. However, in Illinois there is a major exception to this rule. State law changes the minimum age to fifteen when crimes of murder of the first degree, aggravated sexual assault, armed robbery, robbery with possession of a firearm, and use of weapons on school grounds are committed (Carp, Stidham, and Manning, 67). Illinois considers these offenses the most serious. Another type of waiver that can take place is a waiver into teen court. 300 different jurisdictions are experimenting with this idea. Teen court is a helpful alternative to juvenile court. This court also helps keeps the labeling stigma of convict off of a juvenile offender. These courts typically handle juvenile offenders between the ages of ten and fifteen who are being charges with minor violations such as disorderly conduct, shoplifting, and other types of criminal mischief. Most of these juvenile offenders have no prior arrest record and have never done anything wrong before in their lives. These juveniles ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So many facts about welfare are overwhelming, such that over 12,800,000 Americans are on the welfare system. The entire social welfare system is in desperate need of a complete reform. In order for a proper reform to ensue, the people of America must combine efforts with the U.S. government to revitalize the current welfare system. This reform would involve answering two important questions. First, how has today s welfare system strayed from its original state and secondly, how is the system abused by welfare holders in today s economy? As of January 1, 2014, roughly 4.1% of Americans are welfare, which is not what the system was designed to do (Department of Commerce). • 42. The Whig Interpretation Of History Essay History may be examined and interpreted in many different ways. This is because there is little evidence that had survived to go by in which historians have to use to study the past. Evidence, written and made by the historical people themselves, include but are not limited to written documents, such as books and letters, and material culture, as in art and architecture. Now, because the original authors or artists are not alive to tell the story, historians have to examine the evidence left behind to make an educated judgment on what had really happened in the past. This judgment or argument is always incomplete and up for revision as more evidence is found as time passes by. Although many conclusions can be generated from one piece of evidence, arguments can be biased, leading to different, possibly incorrect, views of history. In his essay, The Whig Interpretation of History, Herbert Butterfield elaborates on the matter that many historians tend to write on the behalf on a Protestant or Whig point of view when researching about history. The argument he has provided in his essay states that the whig interpretation of history relates to the act of abstracting [ideas and events] from their historical context and judging them apart from their context estimating them and organizing the historical story by a system of direct reference to the present (Butterfield 30). To Butterfield, studying the past in the eyes of the present is one of the biggest errors a historian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Feudalism was a system that helped the king keep control of his kingdom and be able to protect his country. The feudal system was divided into four levels, and began around 900 A.D. and ended around 1400 A.D. Feudalism began in England when the Romans, who were in control of the people, left and the country became unstable. The Germanic tribes who inhabited the territory were constantly having civil wars, and had many problems. To solve that problem, and to develop a system of to defend their country, they developed feudalism as a form of government (Britton). Feudalism was a socio political hierarchy that had four different ranks. This was a very simplistic and logical form of government (Bishop 95). It was a fairly weak form of government because it was mainly established by trust in between the kings and the barons (Bishop 97). Feudalism was prominent in Europe for many years, and it ended around 1400 A.D. due to kings becoming more powerful. The kings were able to protect themselves without having barons because of the technology of guns. Also, the printing machine and better education made it easier for the king to manage his land without the barons and knights. The Black Death in the mid 14th century also played a big role in the fall of feudalism because many of the serfs died, making it harder for the knights ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
