one of the first in a sort of evolutionary linearity of what finally became feminism.

Amy Tan, within her famous novel, The Joy Luck Club, describes the fictional story
of four Chinese women, who each persevere through their own hardships by making
both sentimental and materialistic sacrifices. All of these characters have committed
controversial acts and have demonstrated their ability to survive and adapt to the
Chinese social standards laid out for their gender. Although a number of these
behaviors and decisions are generally frowned upon, the four should be given
substantial respect, as they each loyally follow their obligations and carry out any

Hoop Dreams was a documentary made in 1994, directed by Steve James. The film
follows two boys named Arthur and William from eight to twelfth grade as they

The Shortcomings Of Education In High School
Education is an important part of our lives as we grow up and shape us our identities.
Unfortunately, many student struggle to keep up with our education system and
often end of doing poorly or dropping out of high school. Having experience the

In Death of a Naturalist, Heaney uses the clashing sound of consonants to create an
unpleasant and uncomfortable tone for the reader. Some examples of the
cacophony that was created are warm thick slobber/ of the frogspawn that grew
like clotted water (8 9) and Some sat/ poised like mud grenades, their blunt heads
farting (28 29). These sentence when read out loud do not please the ear at all, and
unpleasant sounds can translate to an unpleasant mood pretty easily just as

Sports is a language that is universal. Authors often write stories that are about
sports because people can relate to them. They use sports to enhance the meaning
of their content and make it more interesting to readers. Sports Writing is writing
that just happens to be about sports. Sports Writing tells a story. In the articles, The
Gangster in the Huddle by Paul Solotaroff with Ron Borges, and, Mavericks by
Alice Gregory, the authors use sports to help them develop, and make an
interesting story for their readers. Description is very important in any kind of
writing. Both authors use sports to help them become descriptive and make the
reader feel like they are actually part of the story. In the very first paragraph of
Mavericks, Gregory gets very descriptive. She describes the faintly smell of saltwater,
diesel fuel from probably surf vans and trucks and weed from the people driving
those diesel vehicles (2013). Right off I get a sense of where she is and the people
that she is most likely surrounded by. She also describes the humungous waves called
Tone determines whether the reader will be interested or not. For example, if an
article is overly scholarly than the reader might get bored. Or maybe that s the
kind of writing the reader likes. Gregory uses a personal and nostalgic tone. She
recalls the times that she used to surf and work at the surf shop. She gets really
personal when she talks about how she used to pee in her wetsuit because it was
the easiest way to keep warm (2013). Her talking about surfing in this descriptive
manner allows the readers to feel like they ve surfed before even though many
people reading the article probably never have. Solotaroff and Borges used an

However with this idea, there is also the idea that they are not whole truths being
told by governments within countries. Propaganda is a form of a lie seen in both

times, World War II; the world allows these lies to surface due to the fact that they
