Long Term And Chronic Homelessness Essay
Housing First is a program that presents continual solutions to long term homelessness. The
program s goal is to produce sufficient permanent supportive housing to end long term and
chronic homelessness. The primary objective is to help families and individuals secure a
permanent resident so they can take advantage of social services to support their new life. The
need for programs like Housing First is due to the rise in poverty and the growing shortage of
affordable housing for the homeless. How effective are Housing First programs? To review the
specifics of this program effectiveness, I researched two sources to help me determine the
effectiveness of Housing First program with its solutions to long term and chronic homelessness. I
researched Danielle Groton, Florida State University College of Social Work: Are Housing First
Programs Effective?, and Rhode Island s Housing First Program Evaluation supported by United
Way of Rhode Island. According to Danielle Groton, (2013) after conducting a brief research study
comparing the effectiveness of various Housing First programs compared to Continuum of Care
programs for housing retention based on substance use, and mental health. The chronically
homeless individuals or homeless persons with mental illness all reported results favoring Housing
First programs over Continuum of Care programs. According to Groton, (2013) Pearson,

Disability Of War
Brave Hearts Do Not Back Down Many soldiers walk away from war with psychological
disorders such as shell shock and post traumatic stress, while others with mild to critical injuries or
life taking situations. Soldiers who have fought in a war and make it out alive usually come back
home and experience psychological disorders that can cause them to have hallucinations and cause
them to react strongly to anything that reminds them of being in the war. On the other hand, some
soldiers face human casualties that can change their lives forever anywhere from facing a
disability that can put them out of the work force to not making it home alive. War can be a deeply

The Influence Of Software Defined Networking On Network...
I. ABSTRACT The influence of Software Defined Networking on network industry is immense.
SDN industry is expected to surpass 35 billion in next five years concluded by SDNcentral after
conducting a market research on the impact of SDN on network industry. Clearly the impact is
huge. Why? Because the concept of decoupling data plane from the control plane and making
networks programmable is a powerful one. If deployed in large scale, replacing the legacy
networks architecture, it will empower service providers and operators to deploy new services,
provide freedom from proprietary vendor specific network solutions while providing greater
control over the network. However, this future vision of networks and SDN cannot be realized if
one of the criteria of large scale acceptance is overlooked, i.e. how secure is networking the SDN
way. In this paper, I have analyzed the various vulnerabilities which an attacker can exploit if SDN
architecture is deployed on a large scale. II. INTRODUCTION In traditional networking
architecture, control plane and data plane are coupled in the network infrastructure. This traditional
architecture has many inherent issues: 1. Traditional Networks are very hard to manage. With ever
increasing size of networks, it becomes very difficult to manage and interoperate heterogeneous
devices. Control plane is distributed in each infrastructure devices. 2. Cost of managing traditional
networks are very high. One, the network infrastructure

A Comparison Of New Hampshire And Arizona
From the rolling hills of New Hampshire to the arid deserts of Arizona, the United States has
diversification when it comes to their states. After having resided in both for the whole of my
life, it became quite clear what the two do and do not have in common. Nearly on opposing
sides of the nation, New Hampshire and Arizona have numerous sets of unique and shared
qualities. New Hampshire brings to mind serene forests, large moose and deer lurking behind the
heavy greenery, miniscule towns with all familiar faces, and pale colored wooden homes with
dark smoke emanating from the brick chimneys in the colder months. For the first 13 years of my
life I lived within the state, and I look back fondly on it. I especially enjoyed how distinct... Show

The exteriors of the houses are made with wood or brick, to build sturdy homes that are highly
insulated for the winters. A lot of the houses are quite old, and sustained from colonial times so as
my best friend s house was, they have quite quirky features, far too many doors, and at times very
frightening yet intriguing dark hallways and basements with mysterious pasts. But, this did cause
for the most fun and long hide and seek ever imagined. New Hampshire, for someone such as
myself, is characterized by the contrasting seasons, the nature, the freedom, and the interestingly
aged buildings. Arizona brings to mind Spanish style villas scattered below the desert mountains,
towering saguaro cacti planted along the quieter roads, suburbs and large cities with many diverse
individuals inhabiting them, and Christmas lights and dГ©cor strung across a snowless green and
rocky ground. For nearly 5 years, I have lived in the state of Arizona. Within the first minute of
stepping out of the airport, the climate and weather was extremely notable. Amid Monsoon season,
it felt nearly equivalent to putting my face directly in an oven that had been active for more than
enough hours. But excluding the late spring and summer months, the fall and winter season are
considerably temperate and pleasant. The fall is ideal for long strolls with family, sporting nothing

Practical Work NВє2: Different methods to control osmosis
Aim: observe and test the process of osmosis through different kinds of methods: the weigh
(potato), the density (beetroot) and under the light microscope (onion).
Hypothesis: according to the encyclopedia definition osmosis is the diffusion of a liquid (most
often assumed to be water, but it can be any liquid solvent) through a partially permeable
membrane from a region of high solvent potential to a region of low solvent potential. Thus, this is
what will happen.

Conclusion:
Within this experiment we could verify the passage of water from a region of high concentration
through a region of a lower concentration for when the potato was surrounded by a concentrated
environment (lower water potential) the potato lost mass, and when it was surrounded by a dilute
environment (higher water potential) it gained mass.
We could also estimate, with the graph, the concentration at which the potato neither loses nor
gains mass, that is when the water potential inside the potato is equal to the one outside. This
equilibrium occurs at 0,345M.(aprox.)

Essay on Boethius and Plato s God
Plato was born in Athens, Greece around 427 B.C. He was always interested in politics, until he
witnessed his mentor and teacher, Socrates, death. After learning of the callousness of politics,
Plato changed his mind and eventually opened up The Academy, which is considered if not the
first, one of the first Universities. Students at the Academy studied many different fields of science,
including biological and astronomical. The students also studied many other fields, such as math.
Platodeveloped many views that were mathematical in nature. He expressed these views through his
writings. According to Dr. Calkins of Andrew University, Timaeus

Plato s thirty five dialogues. [In it] Plato expresses that he... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Boethius was involved in a consulship for most of his life, and is probably most admired for the
translations he completed in his lifetime, which include, Porphyry s Introduction to the Categories
of Aristotle and probably Aristotle s Metaphysics, Physics, De Generatione et Corruptione, De
Anima, and Poetics (Watts 16). Boethius was imprisoned and then executed in 524 AD, while
imprisoned and before his execution he wrote his best known work, The Consolation of Philosophy.
In relation to Plato s Demiurge, Boethius, being a Christian worships God. Watts, in summarizing in
part the The Consolation of Philosophy, says, Philosophy descends to Boethius form on high (I, 3)
and leads him back through various paths to God Himself... and the realization that God is the
supreme good... (Watts 25).
In order to compare or contrast the two entities, the characteristics must be explained. In a 2005
Bryn Mawr Classical Review of T.K. Johansen s Plato s Natural Philosophy: A Study of the
Timaeus Critias, they explicate the Demiurges existence by saying, . ..the existence of the
demiurge as an inference to the best explanation of the order and beauty of the cosmos. (Bryn
Mawr 1).The Demiurge is also classified as an external cause of order. This is connected with the
orders of being and becoming expressed in Plato s Timaeus.

Roman Architecture Research Paper
Two of the most important developments which were unique to Roman architecture were that of
the use of the arch and concrete. Although not having invented any of these facets of architecture,
Romans managed to expand their use in such a way that it became popular in Roman history as a
staple of their architectural style.
The arch is a very popularly used structure for buildings, even today. They provide a lot of
structural support to buildings, the potential to create entryways and also give a unique space to
adding art and beauty to the structure being built. Romans saw the beauty in the arch, and decided
to use it in many of their building plans. According to the Empire Rome article of architecture,
arches originally came from the Etruscans, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The arches were a structural design which allowed for more advanced engineering to take place in
Roman structures, along with providing opportunity for them to express themselves through art
and decoration of the arches. This lead to arches being very symbolic of how Romans approached
building, as they were seen as one of the best things to have included in your buildings as they were
both useful and beautiful. Concrete, although less paid attention to, was equally as important
because it was a low cost and easily mixed and laid material which allowed Romans to get more
creative with their buildings and keep creating more even in times of financial strain. Concrete
usually isn t seen as being a symbol of Roman architecture because at a glance it is not always
immediately obvious whether or not a building of made of concrete but looking closely to many of
the structures you can see that it was pretty widely used in most of their buildings. Although not
having invented either concrete or arches, Romans managed to expand their use in such a way that
it became popular in Roman history as a staple of their architectural

Term Limits Should Not Be Beneficial
Debate Paper
Putting limits on the amount of terms a member of Congress can serve is a highly debated issue.
Many people are against term limits. They argue that term limits are unconstitutional and that they
infringe on the rights of the American people to choose who they want to represent their states.
However, many people also argue that term limits would be beneficial. Term limits would be
beneficial because it would put an end to career politicians, give new people a chance to solve the
nation s problems, and limit corruption.
The founding fathers left nothing about term limits for any political office in the Constitution.
George Washington set the precedent for term limits when he retired after two terms in office. Most
presidents after him also stopped running after two terms. Franklin Roosevelt was the only
president with more than two terms. He ran and was elected four times, though he died in the
beginning of his fourth term. After his four terms, the twenty second amendment was passed in
1951. The amendment says that no one should be elected to office more than twice. In 1995, the
idea of term limits in Congress was brought to the United States Supreme Court. An article in the
Arkansas constitution denied ballot access to any candidate who had already served three terms in
the United States Congress. In a case INC versus Thornton, the Supreme Court ruled that it was
unconstitutional for states to impose restrictions on term limits. While states

Londinium Essay
Around 50 AD, the Romans built and constructed one of the most economically successful and
diverse cities in the world today, known to us as modern day London. In the course of its
construction and rule under the Roman Empire, the city was known as Londinium. The Romans
controlled London from around 50 410 AD, a period as long as that which separates Queen
Elizabeth I from our present Queen , during which Londinium was one of the largest trading ports
in the world. (Museum of London; 2012) Roman Londinium overcame many obstacles in terms of
invasions and battles, but the city reestablished itself numerous times in order to advance and
modernize throughout the years. After being rebuilt around 70 AD due to an invasion, Londinium
replaced Colchester as the capitol of Roman Britain because of the quick expansion and economic
prosper the city was able to produce. (p. 21; London: A Social History, Porter, R. 1994) Although
the city was subject to numerous unfortunate events, it quickly became the largest and most
industrious city in Britannia.
There has been controversy as to who originated the term Londinium . In 54 BC, Julius Caesar

Closed Captioning Research Paper
Deaf people have experienced many difficulties that hearing people do not encounter. As a
hearing person, you can hear all sorts of sounds, whether you want to or not however, deaf
people do not get the same opportunities. Imagine watching a TV show, or a vine, or a movie and
not being able to hear what the people are saying. How would you feel if you were only able to
watch the people on screen and had to guess what was going on? What if you could not hear the
surrounding noises? As a way to allow deaf people to fully understand what is happening on screen,
closed captioning was created.
Not all failures are bad. Some failures can create good ideas and great solutions to many different
things. In 1970, the National Bureau of Standards and ABC TV tried an experiment. The
experiment failed but its failure lead to a major success, closed captioning. The First National
Conference on television for the Hearing Impaired in 1971 debuted two ideas for closed
captioning. The captioning ideas both displayed the captions on specially equipped devices for the

Essay Analysis of the Gladiator Trailer
Analysis of the Gladiator Trailer
Trailers are important to films for a number of reasons. They promote a film and present it to the
target audience, in order to encourage them to watch the film. Trailers also give the audience
expectations of the film. The audience like to know what to expect of a film before they go and
see it. The audience is given a taste of the story and the basic plot. This is done by showing an
array of clips that are edited to a certain degree. The trailer normally ends with a cliff hanger .
This is a term used to explain when an audience is not told the ending of a story. This makes them

The film Gladiator is an epic, action, war film with some romance and a lot of history. The opens

made. The following image is of the DreamWorks logo. This is a Steven Spielberg company with
a credible reputation. This is a distribution company. A dramatic drumbeat is heard at the start of
the opening image which tells us instantly the genre of the film, an epic war film. This is because a
heavy drumbeat is a reminiscent of battle.
The first actual shot of the trailer is of the words THE GENERAL is then shown in bold whit

fade into the background. At the beginning of this shot the music builds up, trumpets now
accompany the drums. This gives out a sense of defiance and strength. The audience associates
this with war and battle. This next shot is a mid shot of a man walking boldly with his head up
high. He is walking through lines of soldiers in big strides. He is also dressed in armour, so we
assume he is the general. The general has a stern, solemn expression he seems secure and confident.

Chaos In Into The Wild
Society hinders of humans coexisting. If people did not live in a structured society than
humanity as we know it could spiral into chaos and then extinction. This is because there would
no longer be anyone reproducing, causing society to stop growing, as well there being no
structure. Without structure life is chaos because no one has power and therefore no one can
enforce rules or regulate jobs that need to be completed. Overall Aristotle is correcting in
suggesting that people who live outside of society are bad people and do not contribute to the well
being of society.Humans can live by themselves, isolated from society, but humanity and society

of person s life that goes into chaos, is when Chris leaves the old man. When Chris left, he did
not think about the consequences for the old man, who he became quite close with. The old
man began to think of Chris as family and therefore had a very strong emotional attachment to

Examples Of Diction In Beowulf
Beowulf speaks volumes about the ways of life during the Anglo Saxon period. It is to England
what Homer s Odyssey and Iliad are to Greece. It is, as some call it, the mother poem of England.
This mother poem has been passed down through oral tradition for numerous years and scholars
believe that an educated Christian monk transcribed the poem, preserving it in written form.
Beowulfhas survived for nearly 1,300 years due to how well it conveys the Anglo Saxon culture
and the unique characteristics of the poem in its imagery, tone, style and diction. This epic poem
depicts picturesque imagery of various kinds. It is acutely gruesome in many instances, such as the
battle with Grendel and the description of hell s captive and his mother. The... Show more content

With much alliteration, imaginative kennings, and caesura. The narrator uses strong alliteration
and does so quite intricately, using single, double and triple alliterations at points throughout the
poem; such as in lines 30 32, Then, when darkness had dropped, Grendel / Went up to Herot,
wondering what the warriors / Would do in that hall when their drinking was done. (L. 30 32)
The narrator frequently uses kennings in this poem. A kenning in Anglo Saxon literature is a
metaphorical phrase or compound word that names an event, person, place, or thing indirectly.
There are four different types of kennings that the narrator uses within Beowulf which are
prepositional phrase (ex. shepherd of evil = Grendel, guardian of crime = Grendel), hyphenated
compound (ex. sea road = the ocean, ring giver = king), possessive (ex. God s bright beacon =
the sun), and open compound (ex. wakeful sleeper = Beowulf) kennings. A unique quality of the
style of Beowulf is caesura, which is seen in nearly every line within the poem. Caesura is a
characteristic of Old English poetry; it is a pause or a break within a line of poetry and it is usually
indicated by the natural rhythm of the language. Alliteration coincides with caesura; usually the
first stressed syllable before the caesura alliterates with the first stressed syllable after the

Obtaining The American Dream In The Great Gatsby Analysis
Obtaining the American Dream
The American Dream is the idea of having an equal opportunity of achieving prosperity and
happiness through hard work and determination. The idea of the American dream is the main
focus of novel The Great Gatsby F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel The Great Gatsby is about the narrator
Nick Carraway who tells the story of Jay Gatsby, a wealthy self made man who is in love with
Daisy Buchanan. However, Daisy is married to Tom Buchanan who is also a rich man but from
inheritance. The colors red white and blue appear often in the book, each color has its own
meaning in relationship to the American Dream . Red signifies passion, violence, and power. Blue
represents hope, and White represents class and high stature. F.Scott Fitzgerald s novel The Great
Gatsby uses extensive description of the colors red, white and, blue to illustrate certain parts of the
American Dream are fake.
The color red symbolizes violence, passion, and power in the American Dream. Nick is invited
to the Buchanans house to visit for the first time. Tom is a man who did not have to work for his
money and instead inherited it.The first impression the reader gets about the Buchanan house
is, The lawn started at the beach and ran toward the front door for a quarter of a mile, jumping
over sun dials and brick walks and burning gardens (6). The Buchanan s garden reflects the
character of the house owners, in this case, Tom. From the outside, it appears that Tom has
already achieved the American Dream at a young age and now he does not have to worry about
money. However Tom s character is very controlling and powerful, and he is not happy with the
situation he is in. The burning gardens gives the reader an image of fire and heat, which reflects
Tom s passion and power. Another example that shows Tom s passion and violence is when Tom
takes Nick to see his mistress Myrtle. When Tom and Myrtle get in a fight because Myrtle
repeats Daisy s name in Tom s face Fitzgerald writes, Making a short deft movement, Tom
Buchanan broke her nose with his open hand. Then there were bloody towels upon the bathroom
floor, and women s voices scolding, and high over the confusion a long broken wail of pain (37).

Evaluate The Effectiveness Of The Progressive Movement
At the beginning of 1900s, reformers pushed for a number of changes. Together their efforts build
the progressive movement. The progressive movement was a reform movement made to return
control of the government to the people, to get economic opportunities, and to correct injustices in
American life. The progressive movement was useful because it improved the political, social,
and economics of America. The movement is based on four major objectives, protect social
welfare, promote moral improvements, create economic reform and foster efficiency. Reformers
tried to promote social welfare by forming protestant movements for example The Social Gospel
was the most prominent in the late 19th century and early 20th century. The movement relates
Christian principles to social problems, especially poverty, inequality, liquor, bad hygiene, and
crime. They believed that that the second coming could not happen until humankind rid itself of
social evils by human effort. The Salvation Army emphasized the Christian duty to help those who
were less fortunate and fed poor people in the cities and cared for children in nurseries.

Advantages And Advantages Of Bariatrics
A Bed for All Sizes: An Introduction to Bariatric Beds
You may have heard of the benefits of bariatric beds and how it can help patients with weight
challenges, but what does bariatric mean, really? The term bariatrics came from two Greek
words: baros meaning weight and iatrics meaning treatment. It was first used around 1965 to refer
to a branch of medicine that studies and practices ways to prevent and treat obesity. It also looks at
the underlying causes of weight gain. Health and fitness fields such as exercise, dieting, and
behavioral therapy are also part of bariatrics.
Contemporary usage of the term has evolved to refer to hospital equipment used for people of
larger sizes, such as bariatric hospital beds and chairs. Why does one need specialized furniture

Barbie Research Paper
History
In 1945, Ruth and Eliott Handler founded Mattel one of Americas leading manufacturing
companies of today. The idea for the Barbie doll was conceived when Ruth watched her daughter
play with adult paper dolls. She noticed the importance of being able to change the doll s
clothes, and decided to create a three dimensional fashion doll, naming her Barbie after Barbara
(her daughter). At the time, the toy market was dominated by baby dolls and toddler dolls.
Barbie was a new conception that became a worldwide hit. Since her debut in 1959, Barbie has
remained one of the most popular toys of all time. There are two Barbie s sold every second, and
more than one billion dolls have been sold around the world (Maine, 2000, cited in ... Show more

In defense of Barbie s body shape, Mattel stated that she looks fuller with all her thick clothing,
thus they made her waist so thin (McDonough, 2010). Fact still remains that the doll is
promoting an unattainable ideal that can affect girls self esteem negatively. Girls in Western
societies usually have their first Barbie by age 3, and possesses seven troughout their childhood
(Maine, 2000, cited in Slayen, 2011). Growing up with Barbie and not having any physical
recemblance to her could result in disrupted eating behaviors. From a very early age, girls are
having concerns about their food intake and weight: reportedly 46 % of nine to eleven year olds
are occasionally dieting (Gustafson Larson Terry, 1992, cited in National Eating Disorder
Association, 2005).
Many studies have shown a significant correlation between early exposure to Barbie dolls and
body dissatisfaction. Dittmar, H., Halliwell, H., Ive, S. (2006, cited in Munger, 2006) examined
this by creating three different books for girls. The first one contained pictures of Barbie, the
second one featured an Emme doll a curvier, more realistic fashion doll by TonnerВ®

Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz Essay
Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz
The book, Stormbreaker, by Anthony Horowitz is about a boy named Alex, whose uncle had
just died in a car crash (or so they say). He finds out that his uncle was really shot by a man named
Yassen Gregorovich. Alex s uncle, Ian Rider, really worked for MI6. He was a spy that was hired
by MI6 to figure out the secret behind Herod Sayle and his Stormbreaker computers that he was
donating to every school in England. Ian Rider had figured out the secret, but before he could
reveal it to MI6, he was shot and killed. Alex s uncle was the only family he had left, and so it
deeply affected him. MI6 decided that they were going to give Alex either the choice of becoming

on the fish tank and it collapsed. I was also surprised that Sayle had implanted the small pox virus
into the Stormbreaker computers that he was sending out to every school (p. 186). That was how
he planned to harm everybody in England.
I really admire the character of Alex because he is very courageous and intelligent. At the
beginning of the book, Alex wanted to find out if the story about his uncle getting in a car
accident was true or not, so he went to the auto wreckage center nearest his house to search for
the car. Once he had been searching a lot for the vehicle, he ended up finding it to see it in
perfect condition except for bullet holes in the windshield (p. 19). He heard people coming, so
he hid inside the car. Then a big crane picked the car up and starting smashing it in a machine,
with Alex still inside! After all the struggling, he managed to get out of the car just before it went
through the part of the machine that totally crushes the car into a cylinder (p. 24). I felt pretty
bad for Alex. It must have been hard for him to have to go through a really brutal training camp
for something he didn t even want to do, especially since he had just lost his last family member.
He had no idea what was going to happen to him

All of these actions by the U.S. Government have greatly increased its reliance on foreign investors
to fund both large budget and trade deficits.
Increased trade deficits can be concerning, but it is the United State s large budget deficits that
are concerning the worldwide leaders. The trade deficit is a reflection of the United States rapid
growth compared to other countries along with the continued injection of foreign funds into the
U.S. due to the dollar being the reserve currency (Carbaugh, 2011). A portion of the trade deficit is
a result of a capital surplus and not a reflection of an imbalance in the U.S. economy. In other
words, the budget deficit is due to a structural imbalance as the U.S. is spending beyond their means.
Due to the $14 trillion deficit, the United States has had to print more dollars to support their
financial responsibilities. Foreign countries and investors have concerns that the U.S. will be
confronted with financial difficulties in the future which will result in the depreciation of the dollar
and also increased inflation. If this were to occur, foreign nations who have invested in millions of
U.S. dollars would lose considerable amounts of their investments. These concerns have caused

Why Danone developed Danimal yogurt for the South African market
South Africa had a big income inequality gap with its market being at the bottom of the pyramid
with more than half of the population in the 4 5 tier range having less than $1500 in purchasing
power parity in US dollars. Danone wanted to capture the market by introducing a low priced
product to the low income people. With research by local Universities and the SA Medical

Is Danone successful in addressing the needs of the bottom of the pyramid? What can they do
better?
Pretorious had the 4P s in mind when product was developed. The price was initially set at R1.00
in 2005. This was beneficial since the transaction would require one coin interaction which made it
simple and valuable for the targeted children s market. To avoid additional margins added onto the
final price, the price was printed on the lid. Danone themselves just broke even with no profits.
To address nutritional shortcomings in the typical diet of a child from a poor family especially
vitamin A, iron and zinc the company wanted to enrich the yoghurt with these nutrients. The
yoghurt also needed an extended long shelf life due to lack of electricity and fridges.
Danone promoted their product, by associating the name Danimal . Danimal was combination of
Danone and animal , which gave a sense of pride in Africa. A colorful energetic leopard as the logo
appealed to children, while the nutritional facts appealed to the adults.
They created a product for the bottom of the pyramid that was initially introduced into the Gauteng
province but later expanded into two other provinces, Kwazulu Natal and the Free State.
I think that Danone did a great job by providing the needs of the bottom of the pyramid. They spent
little money and used existing equipment with no marketing. They made a product that was

British colonials in the film, as well as many other films that do not feature Jackie Chan, is Fei
Hung. Wong Fei Hung is China s greatest hero, so much so that he is China, and to a lesser
extent he is Hong Kong, representing many of Hong Kong s basic beliefs, such as Confucian
virtue and Cantonese tradition (Fore 124.) Hong Kong cinema has had a longstanding affair
with Wong Fei Hung, with over 100 films about him having been made in the past 50 years (Logan

who holds Chinese beliefs so sacred, and by someone who is held so sacred in Hong Kong.

Introduction: 1.Matter can be classified as a pure substance or a mixture of other substances. A pure
substance could be either an element like carbon or a compound like water. A mixture can be either
a homogenous mixture like salt solution or heterogeneous mixture like soil. Matter is also
separated by extensive and intensive properties.
2.A pure substance could be an element or a compound. A pure substance also has the same
properties and composition throughout it. IT is a collection of non similar particles that will not

Unknown samples of a pure substance may be identified using the properties of that substance by
finding the density of that unknown sample or the boiling and melting point of that sample and
compare them to see if they are identical.
5.A physical property is a quality of a substance that can be observed or measured without changing
the substance s composition. An example of a physical property is color and hardness. A chemical
property is when a substance undergoes a chemical change or reaction which change the identity of
the substance. An example of a chemical property would be heat of combustion.
6.Density is a characteristic property of a substance. Density is equal to the amount of mass in a
substance divided by the amount of volume of a substance. Density is the relationship between
mass of a substance and how much space it takes up which is volume. Density is an intrinsic
property. Mass and volume are both extrinsic on their own but when put together in a ratio for
density the number will remain constant. It is important to understand the difference because it is
easy to get mixed up since it can be an either or

Contemporary Quebec In The Twentieth Century
In many ways, contemporary Quebec is a drastically different society than the Quebec of the early
twentieth century. No longer can the majority of Quebecers be described as religious, rural, and
conservative; instead they are generally secular, urban, and liberal. This transformation has come
about largely because of the change in values that occurred as Quebecmodernized: today s Quebec
is built around the values of secularism, gender equality, and the primacy of the French language,
principles that would have seemed outlandish a few generations ago. Change triggers the urge to
ask questions, and in this case, the question raised is whether or not Quebec society is better off as
a result of its commitment to these values. In my opinion, one... Show more content on

Women attain higher education, have greater control of their bodies, make their own choices,
and work in all professions, including politics. Obviously, women have thus benefited from this
value change, and in my opinion, that alone makes modern Quebec a superior society to the
older one. I would contend, however, that men have benefited as well, for they too are now freer
to choose a lifestyle that appeals to them, rather than the one that men are expected to live. They
also benefit from the inclusion of individuals with alternate skills and viewpoints in Quebec s
public sphere, and from greater protection of their own rights against gender discrimination.
Moreover, a society that cares about gender equality is more likely to care about other types of
equality as well, and in my opinion, this is true in the case of Quebec. While there are certainly
still challenges to be addressed, Quebec society is now more inclusive, diverse, and just, and I
believe that commitment to gender equality is related to this improvement. The last central value of
modern Quebec society is the primacy of the French language, and here, too, I believe that Quebec
society was less healthy before this value was committed to. Although the vast majority of
Quebecers spoke French,

Compare and Contrast how Cocaine, Ecstasy, Heroin and Cannabis Work in the Brain
Drugs of abuse, such as cocaine, ecstasy, heroin and cannabis, are of natural or synthetic origin,
which can alter the emotional state, perception, body functioning and behaviour of an individual.
Drugs are known to work in the brain by activating certain brain circuits via different mechanisms,
and stimulate or inhibit different neurons in the pathway. However, due to the effects of each drug
being different, a drug will affect either different pathways and neurons in the brain to that of
another, or through a different process, i.e. direct or indirect activity. This essay will discuss the
different mechanisms of action that cocaine, ecstasy, heroin and... Show more content on

Cocaine, on the other hand, has been found to have a profound effect on increased dopamine
activity. Kennedy Hanbauer (1983; cited in Karch, 2007) found a strong correlation between
cocaine binding and the inhibition of dopamine uptake, and therefore proposed that dopamine
transporters are binding sites for cocaine. Such research, which correlates strong reinforcing
properties of cocaine with inhibition of dopamine transporters, suggests that cocaine has a more
significant affect upon dopamine, than than it has upon serotonin and noradrenaline. The excessive
role of dopamine can explain the high degree of pleasure that users of cocaine experience, as well
as depression and cravings, which follow.
In contrast to ecstasy and cocaine, which increase the secretion of natural neurotransmitters by
blocking transporters, direct agonists imitate natural endogenous neuromediators and bind to their
receptors. Heroin and cannabis are both examples of direct agonists.
Many regions of the brain contain cannabinoid receptors, of which anandamide molecules,
concerned with regulating mood, appetite and emotions, naturally bind to. Cannabis contains an
active ingredient known as delta 9 tetrahydrocannabonic (THC), and when smoked or eaten, the
THC imitates the activity of anandamide by binding to cannabinoid receptors on nerve cells, and
therefore influences

Defiance is a 2008 American docudrama film starring Daniel Craig and directed by Edward

partisan group against Nazi forces in the struggle for their lives. The group saved more than 1200
Jews from Nazi persecution and would be one of the most successful Jewish resistance groups
during WW2. The movie is well done involving multiple elements and a high dose of action and
adrenaline. Defiancegenerally did well in theatres and was well approved by critics; and WELL

Medication Administration Errors Essay
In today s current fast paced and demanding field of heath care, medication administration has
become complex and time consuming task. Approximately one third of the nurses time is used in
medication administration. There is much potential for error because of the complexity of the
medication administration process. Since nurses are the last ones to actually administer the
medication to the patient therefore they become responsible for medication administration errors
(MAE). Reasons for MAE may include individual factors, organizational factors or system factors.
This paper will discuss the root causes analysis of MAE and strategies to prevent them. Root

Those nurses may not have acquired the skills necessary to anticipate the needs of the team
members. Moreover, they may not have learned how to cooperate, communicate, and integrate
care. And, they fail to evaluate and adjust to their actions and are not able to give and receive
feedback. They do not apply their knowledge and critical thinking to understand the current
situation and how to act upon it. Some of the other factors that also contribute are lack of
awareness of errors, lack of willingness to report errors, faulty memory, poor communication
skills, or lack of patient knowledge, patient diagnosis and the names, purposes, and correct
administration of the medication (Carlton Blegen, 2006). In the case scenario, the nurse did not
apply her knowledge to check the correct adult dosage of methadone. Methadone is a narcotic pain
reliever, similar to morphine (Hodgson, 2011). When administering narcotics, it is required to have
someone co sign the MAR sheet to double check with you (by using the five rights). The nurse was
not able to use her critical thinking when she administered methadone. If she was a trained nurse,
she would have realized it right away that there is something wrong with the dosage amount. There
is a big difference between milliliter and milligram. Fatigue/ Scheduling According to Cohen M. R.

Scapegoat For Women
The American people must modestly realize that men are the prevailing sex, while women should
exercise their God given abilities of being housewives. One of the most noble tasks for women is to
raise children and to prepare them for the future. In the last century, women have become addicted
to demanding more rights without justification. The United States of America must stand strong in
denying women the right to have an abortion, equal pay, paid maternity leave, and political
representation. Women must have the legal and ethical responsibility for keeping their unborn
child because they are directly responsible for having that child in the first place. Furthermore, if a
womancannot prevent an unwanted pregnancy, the unborn should not be used as a scapegoat....

Women have failed to capitalize on the right to vote ever since the ratification of the Nineteenth
Amendment. For the most part, women do not desire to involve themselves in political affairs.
Moreover, women who wanted to run for a political office often lacked the efficient management
to run their campaign, and the adequate resources to use the media to advertise their campaign
agenda. Since we live in a democratic country, women should never complain about their failure to
gain adequate representation in the House of Representatives and the Senate. Society cannot do
much more for women to win political elections and compete against men; women should learn
how to support each other. In a free country, various groups of people, including women, will
always demand certain rights that will serve their own agenda. It is healthy to compete and
demand certain rights, but some women s rights are baseless and cannot be granted because
women should not be treated more sympathetically just because they are women. America is the

Separation Anxiety Disorder Case Study
Lisa is a 40 year old military veteran. Lisa made two tours of Iraq between 2003 and 2007 as a
soldier. Two years ago, Lisa witnessed an armed robbery in a convenience store. Soon after it, she
began experiencing panic attacks and elevated levels of anxiety. I will consider anxiety disorders
and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) defined by Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of
Mental Disorders, fifth edition (DSM 5) (2013) as Lisa s potential diagnoses.
Although Separation Anxiety Disorder (SAD) is more typical for children, adults can be diagnosed
with it if the disturbance persists for 6 months or more. Patients experience marked anxiety and fear
to be separated from their home or from an attachment figure. They may have nightmares about
separation and are reluctant to go out of the home. Since Lisa does not feel anxiety about
separation from a significant figure or from her home, I rule out this diagnosis.
Selective Mutism is presented in DSM 5 as predominantly (but not exclusively) a disorder of
children. It is characterized by inability to speak in specific social situations despite general
capacity of speaking and communicating. Lisa did not report any social situations in which she
failed to speak or communicate. Therefore, I rule out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Examples Of The Greasers In The Outsiders
In the book The outsiders by S.E. Hinton there are two social classes The Greasers, and the
Socs. Even though The Greasers are known as poor people, and trouble makers, and Socs as
rich prep boys. The book shows each Greaser as a nice person, and the Socs they mention as
bullies. The book The Outsiders describes the Greasers houses as run down, but most of the
Greasers work or go to school. It also describes Ponyboy, and Darry as smart boys that went to
school, and have dreams of being successful. The book describes the Socs as rich boys, with
parents that have good jobs with lots of money, and they live in big houses and drive good cars.

Maybe the two different worlds we live in weren t so different. We saw the same sunset (Hinton

though they come from different neighborhoods, they still breath the same air, went to the same
school, have the same interests such as going to the movies, and have the same types of problems.
In the book The Outsiders, Ponyboy talks about how the rich Socs girls acted, and how the poor
Greaser girls acted. When Ponyboy first met Cherry, and Marcia he said it was nice to hangout,
and talk to the soc girls. He said they were nothing like the greaser girls, and he didn t like
greaser girls. Ponyboy said I quit worrying about everything, and thought about how nice it was
to sit with a girl without having to listen to her swear or to beat her off with a club. (Hinton 35).
Ponyboy was talking about Cherry a rich Soc girl being different then the poor Greaser girls. He
feels like they are easier to talk to and easier to have a conversation with. He likes that they don t
swear, and are smart. He talks about how the poor Greaser girls swear, are disrespectful, are
always fighting, and are always troublemakers by flirting with other guys. Another example of the
rich (Socs) vs poor (Greasers) is there education. In the book The Outsiders, it talks about how the
Greasers (the poor) don t speak right. It also talks about how the Greasers, and Socs went to the
same school.

Body Modification in America Essay
Body modification in American Culture

These forms of body modification are no longer tools used by criminals and gang member,

society today. In fact many of these practices have been a positive trend in American culture, giving
adolescents a way of expressing themselves

Results suggested different levels of high risk behavior.
There are many reasons for individuals to acquire body modifications. One possible reason for body
modifications is to gain attention through displays of extravagance such as those that are found
in people with histrionic disorder (Durand amp; Barlow, 2000). A study by Burger amp; Finkel
(2002) investigated reasons why people adorn their bodies with tattoos and body piercing. They
also researched unmodified participants perceptions of body art. When the researchers polled
participant group as to their perceptions of body modifications, they found that many people
associate tattoos and body piercing with risky behaviors and view them as symbols of drug
abuse and violence (Burger amp; Finkel, 2002). They found that a main motivation for people to
modify their bodies is to increase self esteem. The people polled found body art as beautiful and
felt more beautiful when they acquired it. A study conducted at Denison University by Lyons and
Snyder (1996) described the reasons why college men and women had tattoos and body piercing.
The main reason cited by the men with body modifications for getting tattooed or pierced was to
identify themselves with a certain group. Women, however, rated their tattoos and piercing to make
themselves more individualized or sexually appealing. Other popular reasons for displaying body
modifications are to carry on cultural traditions and to increase

How Did Jacob Riis s Photography Influence Social Welfare...
Photographs for a cause
Through the late 1800s and the early 1900s, the division between financial classes was great.
Big businesses and monopolies ruled the market, making great financial powers such as J.P.
Morgan, Andrew Carnegie, John D. Rockefeller, and more. On the other hand, middle to lower
class citizens struggled to pay their bills, lived in houses of fifteen people, worked in mine
shafts from the age of twelve, and had miserable lives in the city. The lives of the lower class was
captured by Jacob Riis. Jacob Riis was an American journalist most famously known for his

The people of Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland and the Faroe Islands are the Norse (people of
the north) or as they are known today, the Scandinavians. Norse religion and mythology began to
take place in the Bronze Age (A.D. 780 1070) and are the collected stories of the ancient religion
of the people from Scandinavia (Daly x). Daly states that Norse mythology did not start in the
Scandinavian area of Europe. Norse mythology originated, according to experts, in Asia, was

(D aulaires 12). Only Niflheim (a waste of frozen fog) and Muspelheim (a place of raging

As embers and ice whirled around the dark, dismal pit they began to whirl faster and faster until
fire created a spark of life within the ice. The frost giant, Ymir, a jotun, and an ice cow emerged
from the pit. Ymir fell into a deep sleep. While he slept a male and female jotun formed from the
warmth of his left armpit and a six headed troll grew from his feet. The ice cow also brought life
to this world. As she licked and licked the saltiness of Ginnungagap a head of hair and then a
whole body appeared from under her tongue. Next, a handsome man and his son appeared. The son,
Borr, married a jotun maiden, Bestla. Together they had three sons who were so fair that they lit up
the darkness around them. These three sons Odin, Hoenir and Lodur were the first of the Aesir
gods. They had the power to create a world. To do this the brothers had to kill Ymir first.
Successfully, the brothers killed Ymir and pushed his body into Ginnungagap. Brine flowed from
his wounds and flooded over the rim, creating the sea and killing his offspring and the cow. The
brothers then took Ymir s body out of the sea and began to make the earth out of his body. The
flesh became the land. The bones became the mountains. The teeth made into rocks, the hair

The program s goal is to produce sufficient permanent supportive housing to end long term and chronic homelessness. The primary objective is to help families and individuals secure a permanent resident so they can take advantage of social services to support their new life. The need for programs like Housing First is due to the rise in poverty and the growing shortage of affordable housing for the homeless. How effective are Housing First programs? To review the specifics of this program effectiveness, I researched two sources to help me determine the effectiveness of Housing First program with its solutions to long term and chronic homelessness. I researched Danielle Groton, Florida State University College of Social Work: Are Housing First Programs Effective?, and Rhode Island s Housing First Program Evaluation supported by United Way of Rhode Island. According to Danielle Groton, (2013) after conducting a brief research study comparing the effectiveness of various Housing First programs compared to Continuum of Care programs for housing retention based on substance use, and mental health. The chronically homeless individuals or homeless persons with mental illness all reported results favoring Housing First programs over Continuum of Care programs. They are treated almost as if they don t exist within the organization, and it s not as if they don t try to get FIFA s attention. In 2015, the Women s World Cup was due to be played, but before then an important issue had arisen: it was going to be played on artificial turf. Several of the World Cup bound players complained, but neither FIFAnor the Canadian Soccer Association would have any of it. The CSA argued that the turf was FIFA approved and therefore suitable for playing the game, and FIFA was silent on the matter. Furthermore, the CSA argued that the lawsuit is not valid because the majority of their playing fields are turf. Kate Fagan, a writer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. The Influence Of Software Defined Networking On Network... I. ABSTRACT The influence of Software Defined Networking on network industry is immense. SDN industry is expected to surpass 35 billion in next five years concluded by SDNcentral after conducting a market research on the impact of SDN on network industry. Clearly the impact is huge. Why? Because the concept of decoupling data plane from the control plane and making networks programmable is a powerful one. If deployed in large scale, replacing the legacy networks architecture, it will empower service providers and operators to deploy new services, provide freedom from proprietary vendor specific network solutions while providing greater control over the network. However, this future vision of networks and SDN cannot be realized if one of the criteria of large scale acceptance is overlooked, i.e. how secure is networking the SDN way. In this paper, I have analyzed the various vulnerabilities which an attacker can exploit if SDN architecture is deployed on a large scale. II. INTRODUCTION In traditional networking architecture, control plane and data plane are coupled in the network infrastructure. This traditional architecture has many inherent issues: 1. Traditional Networks are very hard to manage. With ever increasing size of networks, it becomes very difficult to manage and interoperate heterogeneous devices. Control plane is distributed in each infrastructure devices. 2. Cost of managing traditional networks are very high. One, the network infrastructure ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After having resided in both for the whole of my life, it became quite clear what the two do and do not have in common. Nearly on opposing sides of the nation, New Hampshire and Arizona have numerous sets of unique and shared qualities. New Hampshire brings to mind serene forests, large moose and deer lurking behind the heavy greenery, miniscule towns with all familiar faces, and pale colored wooden homes with dark smoke emanating from the brick chimneys in the colder months. For the first 13 years of my life I lived within the state, and I look back fondly on it. I especially enjoyed how distinct... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The exteriors of the houses are made with wood or brick, to build sturdy homes that are highly insulated for the winters. A lot of the houses are quite old, and sustained from colonial times so as my best friend s house was, they have quite quirky features, far too many doors, and at times very frightening yet intriguing dark hallways and basements with mysterious pasts. But, this did cause for the most fun and long hide and seek ever imagined. New Hampshire, for someone such as myself, is characterized by the contrasting seasons, the nature, the freedom, and the interestingly aged buildings. Arizona brings to mind Spanish style villas scattered below the desert mountains, towering saguaro cacti planted along the quieter roads, suburbs and large cities with many diverse individuals inhabiting them, and Christmas lights and dГ©cor strung across a snowless green and rocky ground. For nearly 5 years, I have lived in the state of Arizona. Within the first minute of stepping out of the airport, the climate and weather was extremely notable. Amid Monsoon season, it felt nearly equivalent to putting my face directly in an oven that had been active for more than enough hours. But excluding the late spring and summer months, the fall and winter season are considerably temperate and pleasant. In relation to Plato s Demiurge, Boethius, being a Christian worships God. Watts, in summarizing in part the The Consolation of Philosophy, says, Philosophy descends to Boethius form on high (I, 3) and leads him back through various paths to God Himself... and the realization that God is the supreme good... Although not having invented any of these facets of architecture, Romans managed to expand their use in such a way that it became popular in Roman history as a staple of their architectural style. The arch is a very popularly used structure for buildings, even today. They provide a lot of structural support to buildings, the potential to create entryways and also give a unique space to adding art and beauty to the structure being built. Concrete, although less paid attention to, was equally as important because it was a low cost and easily mixed and laid material which allowed Romans to get more creative with their buildings and keep creating more even in times of financial strain. Concrete usually isn t seen as being a symbol of Roman architecture because at a glance it is not always immediately obvious whether or not a building of made of concrete but looking closely to many of the structures you can see that it was pretty widely used in most of their buildings. • 15. Term Limits Should Not Be Beneficial Debate Paper Putting limits on the amount of terms a member of Congress can serve is a highly debated issue. Many people are against term limits. They argue that term limits are unconstitutional and that they infringe on the rights of the American people to choose who they want to represent their states. However, many people also argue that term limits would be beneficial. Term limits would be beneficial because it would put an end to career politicians, give new people a chance to solve the nation s problems, and limit corruption. The founding fathers left nothing about term limits for any political office in the Constitution. George Washington set the precedent for term limits when he retired after two terms in office. Most presidents after him also stopped running after two terms. Franklin Roosevelt was the only president with more than two terms. He ran and was elected four times, though he died in the beginning of his fourth term. After his four terms, the twenty second amendment was passed in 1951. The amendment says that no one should be elected to office more than twice. In 1995, the idea of term limits in Congress was brought to the United States Supreme Court. Due to the $14 trillion deficit, the United States has had to print more dollars to support their financial responsibilities. Foreign countries and investors have concerns that the U.S. will be confronted with financial difficulties in the future which will result in the depreciation of the dollar and also increased inflation. If this were to occur, foreign nations who have invested in millions of U.S. dollars would lose considerable amounts of their investments. To avoid additional margins added onto the final price, the price was printed on the lid. Danone themselves just broke even with no profits. To address nutritional shortcomings in the typical diet of a child from a poor family especially vitamin A, iron and zinc the company wanted to enrich the yoghurt with these nutrients. The yoghurt also needed an extended long shelf life due to lack of electricity and fridges. Danone promoted their product, by associating the name Danimal . Danimal was combination of Danone and animal , which gave a sense of pride in Africa. A colorful energetic leopard as the logo appealed to children, while the nutritional facts appealed to the adults. No longer can the majority of Quebecers be described as religious, rural, and conservative; instead they are generally secular, urban, and liberal. This transformation has come about largely because of the change in values that occurred as Quebecmodernized: today s Quebec is built around the values of secularism, gender equality, and the primacy of the French language, principles that would have seemed outlandish a few generations ago. Change triggers the urge to ask questions, and in this case, the question raised is whether or not Quebec society is better off as a result of its commitment to these values. In my opinion, one... I would contend, however, that men have benefited as well, for they too are now freer to choose a lifestyle that appeals to them, rather than the one that men are expected to live. They also benefit from the inclusion of individuals with alternate skills and viewpoints in Quebec s public sphere, and from greater protection of their own rights against gender discrimination. Moreover, a society that cares about gender equality is more likely to care about other types of equality as well, and in my opinion, this is true in the case of Quebec. While there are certainly still challenges to be addressed, Quebec society is now more inclusive, diverse, and just, and I believe that commitment to gender equality is related to this improvement. Cocaine, on the other hand, has been found to have a profound effect on increased dopamine activity. Kennedy Hanbauer (1983; cited in Karch, 2007) found a strong correlation between cocaine binding and the inhibition of dopamine uptake, and therefore proposed that dopamine transporters are binding sites for cocaine. Such research, which correlates strong reinforcing properties of cocaine with inhibition of dopamine transporters, suggests that cocaine has a more significant affect upon dopamine, than than it has upon serotonin and noradrenaline. The excessive role of dopamine can explain the high degree of pleasure that users of cocaine experience, as well as depression and cravings, which follow. In contrast to ecstasy and cocaine, which increase the secretion of natural neurotransmitters by blocking transporters, direct agonists imitate natural endogenous neuromediators and bind to their receptors. Heroin and cannabis are both examples of direct agonists. Many regions of the brain contain cannabinoid receptors, of which anandamide molecules, concerned with regulating mood, appetite and emotions, naturally bind to. Between Niflheim and Muspelheim there was a gaping pit called Ginnungagap. As embers and ice whirled around the dark, dismal pit they began to whirl faster and faster until fire created a spark of life within the ice. The frost giant, Ymir, a jotun, and an ice cow emerged from the pit. Ymir fell into a deep sleep. While he slept a male and female jotun formed from the warmth of his left armpit and a six headed troll grew from his feet. The ice cow also brought life to this world. As she licked and licked the saltiness of Ginnungagap a head of hair and then a whole body appeared from under her tongue. Next, a handsome man and his son appeared. The son, Borr, married a jotun maiden, Bestla. Together they had three sons who were so fair that they lit up the darkness around them. These three sons Odin, Hoenir and Lodur were the first of the Aesir gods. They had the power to create a world. To do this the brothers had to kill Ymir first. Successfully, the brothers killed Ymir and pushed his body into Ginnungagap. Brine flowed from his wounds and flooded over the rim, creating the sea and killing his offspring and the cow. The brothers then took Ymir s body out of the sea and began to make the earth out of his body. The flesh became the land. The bones became the mountains. The teeth made into rocks, the hair became the grass and trees and the eyelashes became ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
