Bitcoin And Digital Forms Of Currency
The idea of Bitcoin and other virtual forms of currency have sparked a great deal of interest lately
amongst the public. In addition, virtual forms of currency have become a media sensation. It s a new
elusive concept that is gaining popularity amongst financial consumers. Over $5 billion in Bitcoin and
other decentralized currency are currently in circulation. However, how many people actually
understand what the concept of Bitcoin is, or other decentralized currency? Even many who own
Bitcoin/other decentralized forms of currency and utilize it in their daily transaction often time do not
know how the system work. Recently there were new stories of government interference with Bitcoin
businesses. Most consumer have no understanding of why. This general writing requirement attempts
to explain the background of Bitcoin and decentralized currency; it further defines why Bitcoin is in
popular use; and finally the paper calls for United States government to take an active role in the
international regulation of this growing financial scheme. Furthermore, I will address if there is any
existing law that can be drawn to parallel the legal regulations that will need to be utilized in the
regulation of Bitcoin. What type of laws can be created and how will be they be used? I will then look
at what law currently are in existence that have an effect on Bitcoin. Bitcoin became recognized as a
legitimate currency that needed to be under regulation within the United States in early

Growth In Ambulatory Care
Ambulatory care is another term for outpatient services. Outpatient services consist of any health care
service which does not include an overnight stay in which room and board are incurred (Shi Singh,
2015, p.251). The changes in the delivery of health services have led to a decline in hospital inpatient
days and growth in ambulatory services in various ways. The reasons for growth include changes in
reimbursement, development of new technology, and social factors (Shi Singh, 2015, p.259 260).
Systems such as the Medicare Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) were implemented to
contain costs and lower inpatient use (Shi Singh, 2015, p.259). New technology includes shorter

Essay on Industrial Revolution
2. INTRODUCTION
During the second half of the 17th century, there were a drastic breakthrough in mainly Great Britain
s, but gradually the rest of the worlds development, that would lead to radical changes in peoples
lives, working relations and environment.
Industrial revolution was so fundamental that it s often compared with the transition from farming to
stock raising, which began several thousand years before the birth of Christ. Considering the uses of
natural resources, can human history be dived up into three pieces of varying length; hundreds of
thousands years before the agricultural revolution , thousands of years between this and the Industrial
revolution and the two hundreds years after the beginning of Industrial ... Show more content on

A serie of technical ideas were combined step by step to form new systems. Mainly two of these got a
big importance and lead to the textile industry and coalfield technology.
The Industrial Revolution was not a sudden appearance; it was the result of a long learning period.
The most common to say that it started was in Great Britain for 250 years ago.
The initial stages were in the 1760th. Within a half decade it started to spread, at first to the north west
parts of Europe and to the USA. The early industrialisation in Belgium, France started around the
1820th. Industrialisation process arised from the extensive changes that occurred in the world
economy.
4.2 Britain and the increased population
Before the 17th century, the most prominent economies in the world, was characterised by handicraft
works and a big labour force that was engaged to farming. Some factors started during the 17th
century that gave rise to the worlds first Industrial revolution, such as rise of the middle class,
expansion of trade and markets, centralisation of the state and scientific revolution. Many of these
were specific for Great Britain, were the Industrial revolution started.
New farming methods came to use during late 16th century. Farmers in many parts of Europe,
including Ireland, France, started to raise potatoes. A plant from the New World , that for a long tome
was seen with a big suspiciousness. A higher rate of potato

The Issue Of Animal Welfare
Nobody can ignore the pain and suffering of another without feeling some type of sympathy and or
guilt. This is why when presenting the issue of animal welfare, most if not all will lean toward the
humane treatment of livestock. However, there is nothing humane about skinning, chopping up, and
serving a living creature to other living creature. Agencies such as the United States Department of
Agriculture (USDA) can t fret over mental and physical conditions of the animals if they have to focus
on feeding over 320 million people in the U.S.. There are a concrete set of principles that enables
companies to produce food in any manner that will guarantee mass production of safe (edible) food at
a low cost, with no concern on what conditions the livestock are in. This barrier protecting these
companies would be difficult to amend without igniting a series of issue of the structure of our society.
Throughout history, technological innovations in agriculture has been almost a direct effect of increase
in human population. However, in the past we never had to put some sort of ruling in place to justify
how we farm our livestock and obtain food. Farmers have recently found a new innovation in
agriculture technology that involves modifying the genetics of an animal. This process is profitable for
the production companies, but are harmful towards animals and at sometimes harmful to the
consumer. This technology brings a whole new meaning to the use of artificial selection. Both the

THE ROLE OF DEBRIDEMENT IN WOUND HEALING OF PATIENTS WITH DIABETES FOOT
ULCERS (REFLECTIVE ANALYSIS)

As a registered nurse with over 10 years of clinical practice experience in various field of nursing
including caring for patients with diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs), I was concerned with rise in the
numbers of DFUs cases resulting into higher rates of amputation, disabilities and mortality . DFU are
caused by a combination of peripheral neuropathy and vascular diseases resulting from diabetes

management of DFUs every 30 seconds somewhere in the world (International Diabetes Federation,

ANALYSIS ROLE OF DEBRIDEMENT IN WOUND HEALING OF PATIENTS WITH DIABETIC
FOOT ULCERS (LITERATURE REVIEW)
Since the concept of wound bed preparation arose (Schultz et al, 2003), striving to achieve a wound
environment that is conducive to healing has become increasingly important (Dowsett, 2002).
Debridement plays a crucial role in this concept. Eliminating non viable tissue from wound bed which
acts as a significant barrier to wound repair if not removed (Dowsett and Claxton, 2006). The presence
of necrotic tissue in wound has known deleterious effects including sepsis and delayed healing.
Debridement is therefore an essential adjuct in treatment of non healing ulcer (Anu, Emane and
Morris, 2001). Debridement is the removal of devitalized or contaminated tissue within or adjacent to
wound until surrounding tissue is exposed (Smith, 2002).According to International Diabetic
Federation (2004), removal of dead or devitalized tissue is paramount for effective wound care of
DFUs. Frykberg et al, (2006) advocate regular debridement to remove necrotic tissue and reduce
burden in order to expedite wound healing. Although it is widely accepted that debridement may be
necessary for optimal wound healing for DFUs, evidence from randomized trials relating to the
effectiveness of its different method is lacking and method of measuring its effectiveness are poorly
developed (Haycock and Chadwick, 2012). Debridement has always been

Compare And Contrast Superman And Batman
Comic books first appeared in the 18th century, but it was in the 1930 s when they became really
popular. The characters created conquered the hearts of many people at that time. DC Comics, a
publisher, released many stories that changed the cartoon world forever. The appearance of Superman
in 1938 began the era of superheroes and revolutionized the comic industry. This character was
followed by the equally successful Bat man in 1939 ( Comic book ). Superman and Bat man both
became known all over the world. The pair has greatly contributed to the American culture. Because
of their tremendous influence, from the very beginning, people have been wondering which one of
these powerhouses is better than another, and how dissimilar they really are. But actually, these
superheroes are as different as they are alike. Superman and Batman have contrasting backgrounds,

started to cooperate with the law enforcement to punish the wrongdoers. He used force, but killing
people was not adhering to his moral code. Similarly, at the beginning, Batman had troubles accepting
the loss of his parents, and was also very vindictive. With Alfred s help, he managed to channel his
aggression towards a better cause (Guerrero). Although he remained untrusting and secretive, he
began to help the police, who used a special signal whenever the city was in danger. Like Superman,
he sent villains to jail for years. Just as Superman, he restrained from killing people because he
believed in higher moral code. Both superhero characters transformed from being aggressive

Frantz Fanon The Fact Of Blackness
Fanon s argument regarding The Fact of Blackness and his conceptual use of violence as an affect of
bodily violence. 1. Introduction In this essay, I will be analysing Frantz Fanon s writing entitled The
Fact of Blackness, Analysing the social psychological concept of self identity in connection to the fact
of being a black person. Frantz Fanon According to McCulloch (1983), was born in 1925 at
Martinique. He advanced as a medical student in Paris where he was a psychiatrist. He was trained in
one of the most radical psychiatric teaching programmes then available (McCulloch, 1983, p. 1).
Fanon wrote the book Black Skin, White Mask in 1952 when he was in Lyon University, according to
Panaf (1975). In the fifth chapter of his book Fanon wrote an essay entitled The Fact of Blackness
which was in a form of a cry of a black man. The writing was released at a time when decolonisation
and self determination were intensifying and taking the centre stage. Macey (2000). 2. Body Fanon

Fanon finds himself suffering from schizophrenia and many disorders as a result of the white man s
harsh treatment. When all he wanted was to be himself. To a white man from France, Fanon was a
Martinican, a native of our old colonies (Fanon, 1986, p.113), which was a perception which deprived
the black man of self pride or confidence in himself. Mama, the nigger is going to eat me up (Fanon,
1986, p.114), to the white boy he is an animal that s shaking with anger ready to swallow him up, just
like a cannibal would eat up a prey. Fanon s search for self identity is destined to only one direction as
he is not given a chance to exist Since the other hesitated to recognize me, there remained only one
solution: to make myself known (Fanon, 1986,

A Reflection On The Racquetball Curriculum
The racquetball curriculum has a lot to offer outside the realm of physical activity. Racquetball proves
to be great exercise, but can also be a great learning experience. My time throughout the class has
been a wonderful learning experience. After completing the racquetball course I will have learned
plenty in which I can apply to my future life. Before my enrollment in racquetball I had little to no
knowledge of the sport. If someone had asked me to describe the sport as a whole I would not have
been able to adequately do so. Having no knowledge of the rules, terminology, or tactics behind the
game, one could conclude that I knew next to nothing about racquetball. During the length of the
course I spent much of my time on the court learning, improving, and developing an understanding of
the activity. I have developed an appreciation for the game and those who play it. Racquetball itself
proves to be much more complex than what I had originally though. Cleary simply hitting the ball
does not prove to be an proficient play style as I had once assumed. This will no doubt defer me from
making assumptions about other sports in the future. This was a worthwhile learning experience as a
whole, and developing an appreciation for the game is not the only thing I will take away from this
class. Alongside debunking any misconceptions I once had, racquetball also reinforced the importance
of diet in the everyday lifestyle. Aside from the countless things learned on the court, I

King Mausolus ruled a small kingdom in Asia Minor. His queen Artemisia was a beautiful woman
who loved the king a lot. After the death of King Mausolus, she got the most beautiful mausoleum

people from far and wide came to visit it. By the year 1494 AD, it was destroyed by a flood. It was

1.6 Collosus of Rhodes: Collosus of Rhodes was built in 290 BC. Collosus of Rhodes was the colossal

The Montagues And Capulets In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
The Montagues and Capulets feud interferes with Romeo and Juliet s relationship. If their feud never
happened they would still be alive. Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare is a story about
2 people who fall in love, but their families feud gets in the way. Parents play an important role in this
play for 3 reasons. The reasons are the feud and relationship between each other, their freedom
between who they want to marry, and neglecting Juliet. The montagues and Capulets feud interferes
with Romeo and Juliet s relationship. Romeo wonders if Juliet is a capulet. is she a Capulet? O dear
account! my life is my foe s debt. (I, v, 125 126). Romeo asks if Juliet is a Capulet. He says his life is
supposed to be his foe. Nurse tells Juliet about Romeo. His name is Romeo, and a montague, the only
son of your great enemy. (I,v, 145 146). Juliet explains that her only love is her supposed enemy. My

Pharmacy Vs Jackrabbit Pharmacy
What better way to learn about the pharmacy profession than from two SDSU alumni in the university
s own pharmacy? I had the opportunity to learn from Melanie Lunn and Tasha Rausch in the unique
environment that the Jackrabbit Pharmacy brings. I was able to compare and contrast this pharmacy
with the retail pharmacy I work in. The Jackrabbit Pharmacy has a unique patient population and
location which leads to many of these differences. Located on a college campus with a majority of the
patients being young adults, maintaining confidentiality can be an issue. One issue that Melanie
commonly faces is concerned parents calling regarding their child s prescription. Since the passing of
HIPAA, eighteen year olds have the right to keep their health information from their parents. As a
pharmacist, one should be mindful of the information that is discussed with parents of college aged
students. This can be difficult because parents do not always want to abide by this law. While
shadowing at the pharmacy, I saw another potential issue with patient confidentiality. If the pharmacy
were to hire a student intern or clerk, that student could learn about the medical conditions and
medications that his or her friends have. It would be very easy to breach HIPAA and, therefore, a
liability. Luckily, I don t think the pharmacy is planning to do this.
In the Jackrabbit Pharmacy, the pharmacists have developed the pharmacy workplace so that it is easy
to respect patient confidentiality. For

The Better Angels Of Our Nature
Today, in a social media ridden world where there s no communication gap, allows news from around
the world to be delivered to us in matter of seconds. Almost every day we hear about a shocking act of
violence, whether it s a terrorist bombing, a senseless rape or a gruesome murder. These tragedies
makes us wonder, What is the world coming to? However, we forget to realize that in fact today s
world is much more peaceful compared to how dangerous life was thousands of years ago. As pinker
stated, Brutality was once woven into the fabric of daily existence (2). Therefore, in order to
understand the violence we witness today, it s important to acknowledge how bad the world was in the
past. In this paper, just as pinker did in his book The Better Angels of our Nature , I will also argue
that violence has decreased tremendously over the centuries by using numerous evidence and
statistical data. The Pacification process, Civilizing process, and other sanctions throughout
millenniums are just some of the changes that resulted in the decline of violence throughout history.
In his book The Better Angels of our Nature , Pinker uses works from Homeric Greece, evidence from
The Old Testament, and early modern Europe to support his claim that after a millennia of bloody
violence, human kind is entering a peaceful existence. In order allow readers to understand the
violence we witness today, Pinker begins by examining the origins of violence; He uses Chimpanzees
who has the traits

Nas The Space Shuttle Columbia
On February 1, 2003, the space shuttle Columbia was just coming in for re entry after being in space
for almost a month, when it had spontaneously exploded over Texas. The seven crew members on the
shuttle had lost their lives and an unforgettable image is burned into the memory of the American
people. I will be discussing mainly about how USA Today has covered the disaster and provide
examples as to how the agency makes it seem as though NASA was the one responsible for the
disaster and how the news agency tries to make it seem as though NASA wasn t concerned about the
safety of its employees. I will also provide a small summary about each article that I mention.
For the first article, titled A year after Columbia, weaknesses remain at NASA by Alcestis Cooky
Oberg of USA Today, the author writes that NASA has not learned from its past mistakes with the
Columbia disaster and continue to put people in danger. This is an exaggeration by USA Today in an
effort to demote the image of NASA to the public. In the beginning paragraph of the article, the author
writes We always knew that overconfidence, carelessness and flawed decision making by NASA
leaders were recipes for doom. This is prove that the writer is trying to make NASA look guilty by
exaggerating the issue. Another aspect the author mentions is that In other words, there are few clear
signs that our space program is leaving past weaknesses behind, even after this second kick of a mule.

Amazing Grace Sparknotes
Amazing Grace commonly refers to the song written by John Newton published in 1779; however, it s
hidden meaning is not as commonly known. It talks about John Newton s person experiences, towards
Slave Trade. He became a servant of a slave trader, was later saved and became a captain of slave
ship. Knowing how it felt not to own yourself, he left his captaincy and looked to God for forgiveness,
as, selling men was inhuman. This song is referred to throughout the movie Amazing Grace which
captures the process of abolishment of the slave trade and shows William Wilberforce single handing
demolishing it. However, Amazing Grace (2006) is not a reliable or representative historical source,
which can be established by examining the depiction of the key characters and events such as the
abolishment of the slave trade. Amazing Grace portrays William Wilberforce, seen on the screen, as
beginning the abolishment movement of slave trade and demolishing it single handily with little help
from others. Although, Wilberforce might have been the face of the abolishment movement he did not
do it all by himself as the movie has portrayed. There were plenty of influential men who stood behind
him that started the movement long before, and had spent hours, months and years of their life
dedicated to the abolishment. Wilberforce s job was to be the voice in the parliament giving evidence
which others had collected for him such as signatures of the public and evidence of the slave trade.

Teaching Students to Understand Reading
The central focus of my learning segment is to learn about the relationship between cause and effect,
sequencing, and timelines. As we near the CRCT, the students need to be able to describe the
relationship between causes and effects. The students will also be able to write their own sentences
and stories using different cause and effect strategies. The learning segment will be broken down into
four different days, the first day will be focusing on finding cause and effect relationships in literature,
the second day will use historical contexts for cause and effect and sequencing, the third day will use
science to explain why sequencing is important, and the final day will focus on how personal
behaviors can have different effects on the classroom and school. Each day my lessons will delve
deeper into the meaning of cause and effect. By the end of the week, my students should be able to
explain how their own behaviors affect the classroom and school. The students will work on building
their own stories using different cause and effect signal words.
With my students, I know that many of them do not understand cause and effect relationships. I know
that they understand that sequencing can be important, but they do not understand what happens if you
do not follow sequencing perfectly. My students will learn how cause and effect relationships are seen
in literature, social studies, and science. They will also learn about cause and effect relationships in
their daily life. I

Graduation Speech
When my family arrived in the United States as immigrants in December of 2000, we were foreigners
in a strange place. We did not know any English so my siblings and I were placed in a school that had
an English as a Second Language program specifically designed for immigrant students. I remember
being pulled out of my normal classroom regularly to work with teachers and other students on
activities that were designed to teach me English. The memory that stands out to me the most when
thinking of those classes are the teachers who patiently worked with me sounding out words in books
or writing sentences. The teachers made me excited about learning even when I was pulled out of my
regular class at times when we were watching a movie or playing games. One day we were reading
out loud in class and I nervously raised my hand to volunteer to read. I began reading the sentence in
my small timid voice and as I continued reading I heard the voice of a girl who was comfortable and
assured in the words she was speaking. There were no unsure pauses or nervous stutters in my reading
and I remember feeling a sense of triumph that I could read so clearly. The separate time I received
with these teachers played a large role in my success as a student. I was able to form a comfortable
relationship that allowed me to be more engaged in the class and willing to learn without fear.

Michelin Case Study
Introduction
This essay would to explore and analyze the main issue with inefficient production of Michelin
Group, and this issue is influenced comprehensively by three aspects in Michelin manufacturing
process, problems in production line, production system management, and inventory management.
Meanwhile, the below analysis will combine with relevant tools and theories from the principle of
lean production to handle and give detailed recommendations.
Michelin Group, the French tyre manufacturer, is the second largest tyre manufacturer in the world,
which through classifying product lines rely on its own area activities to fulfill the demands of
customers and optimize its market (Michelin.co.uk, 2017). Michelin owns over 69 manufacturing
factories in at least 18 countries around the world, with annual productivity of 180 million tires, 10
million copies of the map, and guides.
Importantly, in terms of manufacturing of Michelin, Michelin puts quality first not just as a slogan
quality managers maintain absolute controlled over the output per plant and even the output per tyre
(Hessman, 2013). So how can Michelin improves production efficiency with maintaining high quality
production as a constant challenge for Michelin Group s production management.
Methodology
According to the main challenge of inefficient production, i.e. Michelin with improving production
efficiency based on maintaining high quality, the theory of lean production system will meet the
direction of development in Michelin production management. Thomas (1996) pointed that lean
production can reduce overall costs, especially indirect costs, while remaining quality standards and
reducing manufacturing cycle time. The goal of Lean production is maximization of enterprise
interests, and timely manufacturing and eliminating all waste in the production process of raw
materials procurement, storage, transportation, production and packaging(Heizer, Render and Munson,
2017). There are four elements from the lean production theory will be utilized to develop the
analysis: value stream, pull production system, waste elimination and total quality management.
Value stream, is a set of specific activities that are required for a particular

Class Differences In The Kite Runner
The Kite Runner The Kite Runner is a novel that talks about the story of a tense family relation
between a father (Baba) and a son (Amir), and between two half brothers (Amir and Hassan). It also
talks about how they go about their guilt, and forgiveness as well as weathering the dogmatic and
social turmoil in their current setting in Afghanistan. Using specific plots and historical facts, this
essay will discuss the assertion that the novel would not exist without the class difference between the
brothers. The plot of the story obviously shows that Amir was a scion of a wealthy merchant from
Afghanistan who happened to belong to the Pashtun tribe that believed that it was the real native of
the land. Amir also happened to be a Sunni. Hassan, on the other hand, was a ... Show more content on

It is a recognised certainty that nutrition is a fundamental requirement to sustain a healthy lifestyle and

body and this physiological process is essential for homeostasis and ensuring equilibrium is sustained

In pregnancy the body needs to produce cells to help with the development and nourishment of the
growing fetus; it also helps to make red blood cells . During pregnancy, risks can be associated with
toxaemia, premature birth and haemorrhaging if there is no folic acid in the diet (Youngson, 2005).
Folic acid contributes to several major biological processes and these include the combination of
RNA, DNA and proteins. It is needed to help with the repair and replication of DNA and the
maintenance of the genome and it is also involved in the regulation of gene expression (Hendler
Rorvik, 2008).
Folate is a natural occurrence in foods such as beans and pulses (e.g. lentils and chickpeas), leafy
green vegetables, broccoli, spinach, tuna and oranges (Tiran, 2000). Some foods are also fortified with
folic acid such as cereals and bread. Late in the 1990 s United State scientists came to the realisation
that despite the availability of folic acid in supplements as well as foods available in the supermarkets,
people were still finding it a challenge to meet their daily folate requirement; with this in mind the
United States of America implemented the folate fortification program (Latimes.com). For women of
childbearing age, folic acid consumption needed to be increased so in January of 1998 the United
States food and drug administration authorised a folic acid fortification of all products containing
grain. The

The Law Is Made Under The First Amendment Of The United...
I. Introduction In modern American society, there is little thought in how and why the laws came to
be. There is a natural assumption that the laws were made to protect the people and society. The law is
made under the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States which give the right to the
people to seek its government for redress of any grievances. Utilizing this right, it gives rise to new
laws to be enacted and old laws to be amended or repealed, in the ever developing society. As the
American society progresses, we become more acceptant to compromise our core values. The value of
speaking and writing has been reduced to redundant, ambiguous and vague, incomplete thoughts. Our
mannerisms are guised and restricted to fit the occasion and are hardly rendered otherwise. And our
due diligence to prove and maintain our status in our sexual encounters are becoming a requirement to
endure in our daily lives, regardless of age. Consequently, Americans and its society are evidently
hypersexualized, accurately stated within the book Sexidemic: A Cultural History of Sex in America
(Lawrence R. Samuel), [t]o say that sex plays a major role in everyday life in America would be an
understatement (particularly because it is the source of life itself). Sexuality is a mainstay of American

The Debate Of Science And Medicine
Throughout the course of human history people have been fascinated by the world around them.
Ancient philosophers focused on the questions of human existence while early scientists searched for
explanations beyond those that religion provided. Science became an outlet to provide answers to the
unknown while creating further questions for future experimenters to seek information about. Simply
observing and explaining nature failed to bring seekers of knowledge satisfaction. It was not enough
to have knowledge, people desired to apply that knowledge, using it to create an advantage over
nature. The eagerness to control nature sparked one of humankind s largest debates. Pre and post
enlightenment thinkers alike questioned the role of science and whether or not it should continue on
the path of being master to nature. In the modern world, science still faces the same debate especially
within the realm of medicine. Modern medicine has greatly increased life expectancy by decreasing
the number of communicable disease outbreaks, but still doctors and scientist want to go further.
Science and medicine have come to a point where it is possible to make changes to the human genome
and use stem cells to create other cell types. While these advances have great potential they are being
experimented with in ways that seem unnatural and wobble between what is ethical or unethical. With
expansions in genetic research and our growing understanding of the human genome and genes in

Enslaving Nature of Love Exposed in Lucretius
In Dryden s Lucretius, the speaker argues that (1) Love is a sickness, (2) Love s sickness enslaves, and
(3) all attempts to remedy Love s sickness are vain and will only frustrate the lover. Just as Milton s
Adam and Eve become enslaved to sin by disobeying God, so mankind becomes enslaved to Love
when pierced with Cupid s winged arrow . In Milton, there is redemption and freedom through Christ,
but in Dryden, no salvation from love is possible. This poem leaves mankind in a hopeless, frustrated
state, unable to break free from love s yoke. This essay will center on the last heroic couplet: All

The poem argues that love is not only a sickness, but also as a form of enslavement.
The couplet argues that All the wayes they try, successeless all they prove implies that these lovers are
trapped, and cannot satisfy love s demands. This enslavement idea is further proved upon examining
the method by which a person falls in love: From whence he first was struck, he thither tends; Restless
he roams, impatient to be freed . The lover is described as impatient to be freed which implies that he
is not free, but instead a victim, struck by a Fiery dart , and now is cursed with an endless appetite for
love. The lover is a slave seeking satisfaction, but never finding it: Hence thirst and hunger may be
satisfi d,/But this repletion is to Love deny d . Once a person is struck with Cupid s arrow,
enslavement begins and Love with fantomes cheats our longing eyes,/Which hourly seeing never
satisfies . Love s enslavement not only makes all attempts to break free fruitless, but also makes the

`` Like Water For Chocolate `` By Laura Esquivel
Laura Esquivel writes that There are still some natural forces that everybody understands. These
forces are emotions and experiences that everyone faces, but these moments are not new, they are felt
by all humans. In the novel, Like Water for Chocolate, Esquivel frequently uses magical elements to
find similar experiences that the reader can relate to with characters in the book. She uses common
emotions, sadness, jealousy and love, which are felt by everyone to convey how similar all human
experiences are. The frequent use of magical realism works to show universal human experiences
through exaggeration of realistic events, making them appear as magical, therefore drawing attention
to emotions and circumstances that are relatable to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Esquivel also uses hyperbole and the fantastic elements accepted as realistic by exaggerating the
immense quantity of tears and how Tita was born on a wave of them. Having a common experience or
emotional reaction with a character makes it easier for the reader to connect to them. Many people
have experienced heartbreak, allowing them to relate to the deep sadness Tita felt, as Nacha and Tita
wept until there were no more tears in Tita s eyes . (30) The word choice and magical elements
Esquivel uses helps readers to understand and relate to the archetype of tears and sadness. Through the
use of tears in Like Water for Chocolate, magical realism shows readers how experiences are felt
universally.
Envy and jealousy are a person s desire to have a trait, ability, status, or situation that another person
possesses. A desire to become like another person or want what another person has is inevitable, since
no two people are the completely alike. In Like Water For Chocolate, Laura Esquivel expresses the
universal feeling of jealousy through Rosaura and her relationship with Tita. As the nemesis or
challenger of Tita, Rosaura is extremely jealous of the relationship that Tita and Pedro share. Jealousy
is the type of feeling that eats up a person from the inside, and often consumes his or her every
thought and action. This is the same case with Rosaura, as she even resorts to creating a

This theory looks deeper at a personal level of the way one views their self worth and position in
society (Macionis, 2015).
Social stratification is the way in which our society places people into categories based on certain
principles. Principles such as social position in a society, and class standing. It s based on a hierarchy
of what one has and of inequalities, in addition to beliefs represented with in that society. Social
inequalities stem from what a group of people believes to make themselves different from others and
set apart. These inequalities give certain people more power than others, while setting them off as
being unequal s. We see these inequalities in all aspects of our culture, from wealth and occupation, to
race and gender. Sexual orientation outside of the norm is a large bases of inequality in our culture,
leaving people debating whether to reveal their sexual preferences especially in the work place
(Macionis, 2015, p 246 251). Sexual orientation is a state of mind based on romantic and emotional
attraction to another person. The norm with in our society is heterosexuality, being attracted to the
opposite sex, however, for some this may not be their preference. Sexual orientation can also be seen
as homosexual, bisexual and asexual also known as the lesbian, gay and bisexual community, (LGB).

Farm As An Allegory In George Orwell s Animal Farm
An author who has been praised though the years for his revolutionary ideas and works, George
Orwell has written everything from poems to essays. He liked uncovering hidden truths; consequently,
doing it by writing political works like Animal Farm. On the surface George Orwell s novel Animal
Farm is about a group of neglected animals who overthrow their owner and take control of the farm.
However, under the surface this novel is an allegory detailing the events of the Russian Revolution.
The author s use of anthropomorphism and common diction lead us to believe he intended the novel to
be read by the everyday man or lay person. The novel is written as warning to readers within its
central theme that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Orwell uses stylistic
devices (such as symbolism and irony) and tone (hope twisted to despair) in Animal Farm to tell the
tragic tale of animal rebellion at Manor Farm. The author wrote this novel in response to his opinion
of the Russian Revolution; he wanted to consciously use political and artistic purpose in the book to
talk to the people. Ultimately, Orwell effectively fuses his political and artistic purpose into a single
powerful work of art in his short novel Animal Farm.
One of Orwell s works that could help us analyze and understand his intent for Animal Farm is his
essay Why I Write . George Orwell s essay Why I Write is about the evolution of Orwell s style of
writing from a child to the time when written and how his opinions on writing have changed. Perhaps
the author wrote Why I Write because he wants to help explain to the world how Animal Farm was
written and the thought process behind it. Orwell s intended audience for this work is writers and
readers of his books. Writers would be interested as it gives advice and his beliefs on writing, but his
readers would be interested because it talks about his books more in depth and his purpose. The
narrator in this essay is the author himself and it is in first person describing events and his
thoughts/emotions. Orwell used some stylistic devices in Why I Write but the main two that are
showcased are rhetoric and analogies. Overall, the tone throughout the entire work is reflective but in

Essay On Natural Selection
In this lab, we were given the task of modeling the process of natural selection. Natural selection is
when an environment poses obstacles and chooses to favor a certain trait over another. We created
fake paper birds for this model, with straws and construction paper. This lab showed was both
accurate and helpful and not so accurate. One way this lab was accurate, was the correct showing of
mutations and random changes over generations in the birds. We rolled the dice and flipped a coin to
figure how the birds would be affected in the new generation. This was much like how life actually is.
Most of the time, things are completely random. Also any type of mutation in the bird, can change that
bird drastically. Sometimes, the mutation can be harmful and not help the bird in any way. This was an
accurate showing by the random roll of the dice and six different changes and the coin which
controlled whether front or back would be affected. It explained how offspring are rarely ever a clone
of the parent and have everything that the parent has. This can be shown as helpful and that trait
becomes much more suitable for the environment. These genes are the ones that get passed ... Show

The practices and functions of personal photography have transformed significantly due to the break

explained by Ibrahim s concept of banal imagining in which images record the daily routines, rituals
and the events which mark out life s movements (Ibrahim, 2015, p.44). New digital technologies such
as camera phones and digital cameras have facilitated this change in which photographs are

Van Dijck (2008) suggests that, Communication and identity formation are not novel uses but have
always been intrinsic functions of photography (p.59). In the contemporary culture, especially among
the younger generations, individuals are constantly posting images on social media sites to share their
experiences online. This is particularly evident in the social media platform, Snapchat in which a
study done in 2014 found that Snapchat users had sent over 700 million photos and videos per day
(Lunden Tsotsis, 2014). Snapchat is a mobile application which allows users to send snapshots or
videos to friends with a brief message in the form of drawing or text. The company suggests that each
snap reflect an individual in the moment without the need to curate an everlasting persona ( Ads
Snapchat, 2015) This can be explained by the unique function of Snapchat as images will disappear
after the set time expires. Therefore, the use of digital photography in Snapchat best represents how
digital photography becomes a tool for communication, enabling users to connect and getting in touch.
On the contrary, there are other social media networks that not only offer as a site for sharing

homeland of Africa s earliest black culture with a history that can be traced from 3800 B.C. onward
through the monuments and artifacts. Ancient Nubia was a land of great natural wealth, gold mines,

The city of Napata gained its fame from the religious significance of Gebel Barkal. The Egyptians
promoted the belief the primary form of their god dwelt inside the pure mountain Gebel Barkal. Egypt
s sun god Amun was represented as either a man with a ram head or as a crowned ram with a solar
disk. It seems as though the Egyptians identified their pre existing god from the land of Nubia as a
local form of their own supreme god Amun who was considered to be the important source of the
royal power of Egypt and Kush. The city of Meroe located on the east bank of the Nile, was the
second urban center of the binary kingdoms of Kush. This city became the permanent royal residence
of the Kushite Kings of Napata in the fifth century BC. Nubian pottery from the earliest periods
represented the basic plastic material employed in Nubia and Egypt. Primitive drawings and
engravings on Nubian pottery had a form identified of some geometric and symbolic patterns. These
forms have been used on the surface of decorated pottery such as circles, squares, or triangles which
represented the initial signs of most ancient civilizations. During the Neolithic period, people of this
time covered their tools and pottery products with different forms, not particularly of art, but rather for
recording their idea of life. Although these forms represent hidden symbols with no clear meaning, its
purpose or goal was to help unleash the human mind while imagining its

Compare And Contrast The Renaissance Art And European Art
Compare and Contrast Essay
Compare and Contrast works of art that represent the 15th Century Early Renaissance art and 16th
Century Northern European art. The artists Masaccio and Grunewald will be used to illustrate the
differences and similarities in the styles of art. Their works of art are chosen for their interpretation of
the style that was representative during these eras. Early Renaissance artists used mathematical one
point linear perspective to create illusions of depth and depicted the human body as realistic and
natural. Northern European artist used medieval mysticism and intense emotional spirituality and they
used illustrative human figures rather than realistic depictions. By understanding the corresponding
and distinctions between these two works of art we can understand why they created their artwork in
the respective style to their era.
The first work of art is a fresco titled Trinity with the Virgin Mary, John the Evangelist, and the
Donors (Holy Trinity) by artist Masaccio during the Early Renaissance c. 1425
1427/1428. The fresco is located on the wall of the Church of Santa Maria Novella in Florence,
Italy. Brunelleschi s experiments on linear perspective and architecture had an influence on
Masaccio s art.
The second work of art is an oil painting on wood panel titled Isenheim Altarpiece by artist Grunewald
in c. 1510 1515. It was located in the chapel of the St. Anthony abbey hospital near Colmar, Germany.
The hospital treated patients with

Into Thin Air Quest Analysis
Into Thin Air Quest Essay
Q: In what ways is Into Thin Air a typical quest and/or in what ways is it different. Into Thin Air is a
nonfiction book documenting Jon Krakauer s expedition to the summit of Mt Everest. The book
contains aspects that a typical quest story includes: it has one motif, the characters are inexperienced
and learn something about themselves, and the team faces challenges and trials on route. However the
book also differs from a typical quest story because it makes the reader question morality and many of
the main characters die. Into Thin Air has characteristics of both a quest story and a narrative with a
complex allegory. Into Thin Air, similar to a typical quest, has the theme that personal self reliance is
essential to complete a task. In chapter 19 Beck Whethers, a fellow climber on the expedition has just
gotten himself back to camp after being buried in the snow, and exclaims Finally I ... Show more

However the real reason is different from the stated reason. Krakauer is writing an article for Outsider
Magazine and wants to document the journey while fulfilling a childhood dream to reach the summit
of. Along the way there are various challenges and trials. During the course of the trip they had to deal
with frostbite, a major storm that is fatal to many, and results in having no one to lead them.
Throughout all the ordeals the group faces, only a few get away from the trip unscathed. The
expedition has many inexperienced climbers, Krakauer states Everest has always been a magnet for
kooks, publicity seekers, hopeless romantics and others with a shaky hold on reality. This quote shows
that there are many people who come to climb Everest with very little experience. These
inexperienced climbers contribute to the 16 fatalities on that expedition. Overall these elements of Into
Thin Air are similar to qualities that a quest story would

Amadeus
Most biography movies usually are told from the point of view of a person whose name is in the title.
The movie Amadeus by Milos Forman is about the famous musician and composer, Wolfgang
Amadeus Mozart, but the movie is not told from his point of view but from his rival, Antonio Salieri
played by F. Murray Abraham. The story is set in 1823 as the elderly Antonio Salieri is placed in a
lunatic asylum for attempting suicide. He launches into a long confession about his relationship with
Mozart which set the main story to 1781. Amadeus is a period drama film. The main idea about this
film is it is better to appreciate the gifts and talents of others than to mope around wallowing in self
pity. Forman uses a range of film techniques such as acting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Murray Abraham) is placed in a lunatic asylum for attempting suicide. He is visited by Father Vegler,
a young priest who seeks to take his confession. Salieri launches into a long confession about his
relationship with Mozart. Salieri begins his career as a devout, God fearing man who believes his
success and talent as a composer are God s reward, for his piety. Mozart arrives in Vienna to perform
for the prince Archbishop of Salzburg. Salieri goes to the performance hoping to meet Mozart. He is
convinced that Mozart s genius must be a gift from God. He secretly observes Mozart but was shock
to discover that rather than the Mozart he imagined, Mozart is in fact boorish, irreverent, and lewd. In
1781, when Mozart meets the emperor, Salieri presents Mozart with a March of welcome . After
hearing the march only once, Mozart plays it from memory, tactlessly critiques it, and improvise a
variation. This leads to his 1786 opera The marriage of Figaro . Faced with Mozart s genius, Salieri
realises his own mediocrity and suffers is much that he naturally arouses compassion. When Mozart
becomes more desperate as the family s expense increases and his commissions decrease. Salieri uses
this chance to get his chance to avenge

Literacy From The Army Of Me
Literacy from the army to me
.
The military has always been a part of my family s life. My grandfather was in the army along with
his son and my grandmothers other son s. I also have many cousins who are still in and one who
worked at the Pentagon. My uncles use to always tell us stories about their military service and how
much they learned. Most of my cousins that joined only joined because of these stories and the lavish
lifestyles they have seen my uncles live. Unlike them, I wasn t drawn in by the stories my uncles told
me, or the war letters from my deceased grandfather. For some reason it was my mothers dream for
me; probably because its always something she wanted to do but was afraid, a fantasy I wasn t quite
ready to live in for her or them. I remember high school. Everyone I was close to was in JROTC. I
would watch them in laughter every Monday morning when they walked around in their tight fitted
uniforms. To me it was all a big joke; quite funny to say the least. I mean, really, how many took this
seriously? It wasn t like it was really being in the army. It was just for show. Either way I know for
sure that I didn t. I was always asked to join for the next year and told how it could benefit me, but
somehow I always found myself politely declining. I would begin to walk as fast as I could feel giddy
inside. I was still immature and had the mindset that being all you could be didn t look like that at all.
I pictured strong and arrogant

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Solar Power
ABSTRACT
Solar power has a vast potential. The industry is to see large growth in the upcoming future. However,
there are technical and cost limitations which hinder solar power s ability to become a more influential
global electricity source. Despite these limitations, solar power is utilized by many. From homes in the
Unites States to developing countries, solar power is making lives and the world a better place.
Governments must see the potential of solar power and push their country s energy needs away from
fossil fuels and towards renewable sources, such as solar power.
INTRODUCTION
With the reduction of the dependence on fossil fuels, countries and citizens are looking for a way to
fulfill their energy needs. Many turn to solar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
FINDINGS
The largest obstacle solar power has to overcome is cost. Solar power has high startup costs. Stated in
The Future of Solar Energy, Currently, the estimated installed cost per peak watt for a residential PV
system is approximately 80% greater than that for a utility scale plant, with costs for a typical
commercial scale installation falling somewhere in between. These cost estimates often include costs
for inverters, racking and installation hardware, design and installation labor, and marketing, as well
as various regulatory and financing costs (The Future of Solar Energy). Many do not want to pay for
the upfront costs of instillation of solar energy devices when an alternative energy supplier is already
in place. In order to successfully reduce our carbon emissions, governments must become involved.
Federal money must be allotted to the research and development of solar power for it to become a
viable energy source. In doing so solar power will become less privatized and potentially more
affordable. There has been recent growth in the solar energy due to a 50% 70% drop in reported PV
prices (without federal subsidies) per installed peak watt , and a current federal tax subsidy for solar
generation: a 30% investment tax credit (ITC) (The Future of Solar Energy). The reduction of PV
prices and a tax credit is a positive aspect for solar power, but the prices are still too high for the
masses. The value of a renewable energy source is frequently lost when

  • 6. The Issue Of Animal Welfare Nobody can ignore the pain and suffering of another without feeling some type of sympathy and or guilt. This is why when presenting the issue of animal welfare, most if not all will lean toward the humane treatment of livestock. However, there is nothing humane about skinning, chopping up, and serving a living creature to other living creature. Agencies such as the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) can t fret over mental and physical conditions of the animals if they have to focus on feeding over 320 million people in the U.S.. There are a concrete set of principles that enables companies to produce food in any manner that will guarantee mass production of safe (edible) food at a low cost, with no concern on what conditions the livestock are in. This barrier protecting these companies would be difficult to amend without igniting a series of issue of the structure of our society. Throughout history, technological innovations in agriculture has been almost a direct effect of increase in human population. However, in the past we never had to put some sort of ruling in place to justify how we farm our livestock and obtain food. Farmers have recently found a new innovation in agriculture technology that involves modifying the genetics of an animal. This process is profitable for the production companies, but are harmful towards animals and at sometimes harmful to the consumer. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ANALYSIS ROLE OF DEBRIDEMENT IN WOUND HEALING OF PATIENTS WITH DIABETIC FOOT ULCERS (LITERATURE REVIEW) Since the concept of wound bed preparation arose (Schultz et al, 2003), striving to achieve a wound environment that is conducive to healing has become increasingly important (Dowsett, 2002). Debridement plays a crucial role in this concept. Eliminating non viable tissue from wound bed which acts as a significant barrier to wound repair if not removed (Dowsett and Claxton, 2006). The presence of necrotic tissue in wound has known deleterious effects including sepsis and delayed healing. Debridement is therefore an essential adjuct in treatment of non healing ulcer (Anu, Emane and Morris, 2001). Debridement is the removal of devitalized or contaminated tissue within or adjacent to wound until surrounding tissue is exposed (Smith, 2002).According to International Diabetic Federation (2004), removal of dead or devitalized tissue is paramount for effective wound care of DFUs. Frykberg et al, (2006) advocate regular debridement to remove necrotic tissue and reduce burden in order to expedite wound healing. Although it is widely accepted that debridement may be necessary for optimal wound healing for DFUs, evidence from randomized trials relating to the effectiveness of its different method is lacking and method of measuring its effectiveness are poorly developed (Haycock and Chadwick, 2012). • 12. A Reflection On The Racquetball Curriculum The racquetball curriculum has a lot to offer outside the realm of physical activity. Racquetball proves to be great exercise, but can also be a great learning experience. My time throughout the class has been a wonderful learning experience. After completing the racquetball course I will have learned plenty in which I can apply to my future life. Before my enrollment in racquetball I had little to no knowledge of the sport. If someone had asked me to describe the sport as a whole I would not have been able to adequately do so. Having no knowledge of the rules, terminology, or tactics behind the game, one could conclude that I knew next to nothing about racquetball. During the length of the course I spent much of my time on the court learning, improving, and developing an understanding of the activity. I have developed an appreciation for the game and those who play it. Racquetball itself proves to be much more complex than what I had originally though. Cleary simply hitting the ball does not prove to be an proficient play style as I had once assumed. This will no doubt defer me from making assumptions about other sports in the future. This was a worthwhile learning experience as a whole, and developing an appreciation for the game is not the only thing I will take away from this class. Alongside debunking any misconceptions I once had, racquetball also reinforced the importance of diet in the everyday lifestyle. Aside from the countless things learned on the court, I ... • 15. Pharmacy Vs Jackrabbit Pharmacy What better way to learn about the pharmacy profession than from two SDSU alumni in the university s own pharmacy? I had the opportunity to learn from Melanie Lunn and Tasha Rausch in the unique environment that the Jackrabbit Pharmacy brings. I was able to compare and contrast this pharmacy with the retail pharmacy I work in. The Jackrabbit Pharmacy has a unique patient population and location which leads to many of these differences. Located on a college campus with a majority of the patients being young adults, maintaining confidentiality can be an issue. One issue that Melanie commonly faces is concerned parents calling regarding their child s prescription. Since the passing of HIPAA, eighteen year olds have the right to keep their health information from their parents. As a pharmacist, one should be mindful of the information that is discussed with parents of college aged students. This can be difficult because parents do not always want to abide by this law. While shadowing at the pharmacy, I saw another potential issue with patient confidentiality. If the pharmacy were to hire a student intern or clerk, that student could learn about the medical conditions and medications that his or her friends have. It would be very easy to breach HIPAA and, therefore, a liability. Luckily, I don t think the pharmacy is planning to do this. In the Jackrabbit Pharmacy, the pharmacists have developed the pharmacy workplace so that it is easy to respect patient confidentiality. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Almost every day we hear about a shocking act of violence, whether it s a terrorist bombing, a senseless rape or a gruesome murder. These tragedies makes us wonder, What is the world coming to? However, we forget to realize that in fact today s world is much more peaceful compared to how dangerous life was thousands of years ago. As pinker stated, Brutality was once woven into the fabric of daily existence (2). Therefore, in order to understand the violence we witness today, it s important to acknowledge how bad the world was in the past. In this paper, just as pinker did in his book The Better Angels of our Nature , I will also argue that violence has decreased tremendously over the centuries by using numerous evidence and statistical data. The Pacification process, Civilizing process, and other sanctions throughout millenniums are just some of the changes that resulted in the decline of violence throughout history. In his book The Better Angels of our Nature , Pinker uses works from Homeric Greece, evidence from The Old Testament, and early modern Europe to support his claim that after a millennia of bloody violence, human kind is entering a peaceful existence. For the first article, titled A year after Columbia, weaknesses remain at NASA by Alcestis Cooky Oberg of USA Today, the author writes that NASA has not learned from its past mistakes with the Columbia disaster and continue to put people in danger. This is an exaggeration by USA Today in an effort to demote the image of NASA to the public. In the beginning paragraph of the article, the author writes We always knew that overconfidence, carelessness and flawed decision making by NASA leaders were recipes for doom. It talks about John Newton s person experiences, towards Slave Trade. He became a servant of a slave trader, was later saved and became a captain of slave ship. Knowing how it felt not to own yourself, he left his captaincy and looked to God for forgiveness, as, selling men was inhuman. This song is referred to throughout the movie Amazing Grace which captures the process of abolishment of the slave trade and shows William Wilberforce single handing demolishing it. However, Amazing Grace (2006) is not a reliable or representative historical source, which can be established by examining the depiction of the key characters and events such as the abolishment of the slave trade. Amazing Grace portrays William Wilberforce, seen on the screen, as beginning the abolishment movement of slave trade and demolishing it single handily with little help from others. Although, Wilberforce might have been the face of the abolishment movement he did not do it all by himself as the movie has portrayed. There were plenty of influential men who stood behind him that started the movement long before, and had spent hours, months and years of their life dedicated to the abolishment. • 20. Teaching Students to Understand Reading The central focus of my learning segment is to learn about the relationship between cause and effect, sequencing, and timelines. As we near the CRCT, the students need to be able to describe the relationship between causes and effects. The students will also be able to write their own sentences and stories using different cause and effect strategies. The learning segment will be broken down into four different days, the first day will be focusing on finding cause and effect relationships in literature, the second day will use historical contexts for cause and effect and sequencing, the third day will use science to explain why sequencing is important, and the final day will focus on how personal behaviors can have different effects on the classroom and school. Each day my lessons will delve deeper into the meaning of cause and effect. By the end of the week, my students should be able to explain how their own behaviors affect the classroom and school. The students will work on building their own stories using different cause and effect signal words. With my students, I know that many of them do not understand cause and effect relationships. I know that they understand that sequencing can be important, but they do not understand what happens if you do not follow sequencing perfectly. • 21. Graduation Speech When my family arrived in the United States as immigrants in December of 2000, we were foreigners in a strange place. We did not know any English so my siblings and I were placed in a school that had an English as a Second Language program specifically designed for immigrant students. I remember being pulled out of my normal classroom regularly to work with teachers and other students on activities that were designed to teach me English. The memory that stands out to me the most when thinking of those classes are the teachers who patiently worked with me sounding out words in books or writing sentences. The teachers made me excited about learning even when I was pulled out of my regular class at times when we were watching a movie or playing games. One day we were reading out loud in class and I nervously raised my hand to volunteer to read. I began reading the sentence in my small timid voice and as I continued reading I heard the voice of a girl who was comfortable and assured in the words she was speaking. There were no unsure pauses or nervous stutters in my reading and I remember feeling a sense of triumph that I could read so clearly. The separate time I received with these teachers played a large role in my success as a student. I was able to form a comfortable relationship that allowed me to be more engaged in the class and willing to learn without fear. Although I was disadvantaged because of ... During pregnancy, risks can be associated with toxaemia, premature birth and haemorrhaging if there is no folic acid in the diet (Youngson, 2005). Folic acid contributes to several major biological processes and these include the combination of RNA, DNA and proteins. It is needed to help with the repair and replication of DNA and the maintenance of the genome and it is also involved in the regulation of gene expression (Hendler Rorvik, 2008). Folate is a natural occurrence in foods such as beans and pulses (e.g. lentils and chickpeas), leafy green vegetables, broccoli, spinach, tuna and oranges (Tiran, 2000). Some foods are also fortified with folic acid such as cereals and bread. Late in the 1990 s United State scientists came to the realisation that despite the availability of folic acid in supplements as well as foods available in the supermarkets, people were still finding it a challenge to meet their daily folate requirement; with this in mind the United States of America implemented the folate fortification program (Latimes.com). • 31. The Law Is Made Under The First Amendment Of The United... I. Introduction In modern American society, there is little thought in how and why the laws came to be. There is a natural assumption that the laws were made to protect the people and society. The law is made under the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States which give the right to the people to seek its government for redress of any grievances. Utilizing this right, it gives rise to new laws to be enacted and old laws to be amended or repealed, in the ever developing society. As the American society progresses, we become more acceptant to compromise our core values. The value of speaking and writing has been reduced to redundant, ambiguous and vague, incomplete thoughts. Our mannerisms are guised and restricted to fit the occasion and are hardly rendered otherwise. And our due diligence to prove and maintain our status in our sexual encounters are becoming a requirement to endure in our daily lives, regardless of age. • 34. The Debate Of Science And Medicine Throughout the course of human history people have been fascinated by the world around them. Ancient philosophers focused on the questions of human existence while early scientists searched for explanations beyond those that religion provided. Science became an outlet to provide answers to the unknown while creating further questions for future experimenters to seek information about. Simply observing and explaining nature failed to bring seekers of knowledge satisfaction. It was not enough to have knowledge, people desired to apply that knowledge, using it to create an advantage over nature. The eagerness to control nature sparked one of humankind s largest debates. Pre and post enlightenment thinkers alike questioned the role of science and whether or not it should continue on the path of being master to nature. In the modern world, science still faces the same debate especially within the realm of medicine. Modern medicine has greatly increased life expectancy by decreasing the number of communicable disease outbreaks, but still doctors and scientist want to go further. Science and medicine have come to a point where it is possible to make changes to the human genome and use stem cells to create other cell types. • 38. Farm As An Allegory In George Orwell s Animal Farm An author who has been praised though the years for his revolutionary ideas and works, George Orwell has written everything from poems to essays. He liked uncovering hidden truths; consequently, doing it by writing political works like Animal Farm. On the surface George Orwell s novel Animal Farm is about a group of neglected animals who overthrow their owner and take control of the farm. However, under the surface this novel is an allegory detailing the events of the Russian Revolution. The author s use of anthropomorphism and common diction lead us to believe he intended the novel to be read by the everyday man or lay person. The novel is written as warning to readers within its central theme that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Orwell uses stylistic devices (such as symbolism and irony) and tone (hope twisted to despair) in Animal Farm to tell the tragic tale of animal rebellion at Manor Farm. The author wrote this novel in response to his opinion of the Russian Revolution; he wanted to consciously use political and artistic purpose in the book to talk to the people. Ultimately, Orwell effectively fuses his political and artistic purpose into a single powerful work of art in his short novel Animal Farm. One of Orwell s works that could help us analyze and understand his intent for Animal Farm is his essay Why I Write . George Orwell s essay Why I Write is about the evolution of Orwell s style of writing from a child to the time when written and how his opinions on writing have changed. Perhaps the author wrote Why I Write because he wants to help explain to the world how Animal Farm was written and the thought process behind it. Orwell s intended audience for this work is writers and readers of his books. Writers would be interested as it gives advice and his beliefs on writing, but his readers would be interested because it talks about his books more in depth and his purpose. The narrator in this essay is the author himself and it is in first person describing events and his thoughts/emotions. Natural selection is when an environment poses obstacles and chooses to favor a certain trait over another. We created fake paper birds for this model, with straws and construction paper. This lab showed was both accurate and helpful and not so accurate. One way this lab was accurate, was the correct showing of mutations and random changes over generations in the birds. We rolled the dice and flipped a coin to figure how the birds would be affected in the new generation. This was much like how life actually is. Most of the time, things are completely random. Also any type of mutation in the bird, can change that bird drastically. Sometimes, the mutation can be harmful and not help the bird in any way. This was an accurate showing by the random roll of the dice and six different changes and the coin which controlled whether front or back would be affected. Primitive drawings and engravings on Nubian pottery had a form identified of some geometric and symbolic patterns. These forms have been used on the surface of decorated pottery such as circles, squares, or triangles which represented the initial signs of most ancient civilizations. During the Neolithic period, people of this time covered their tools and pottery products with different forms, not particularly of art, but rather for recording their idea of life. My grandfather was in the army along with his son and my grandmothers other son s. I also have many cousins who are still in and one who worked at the Pentagon. My uncles use to always tell us stories about their military service and how much they learned. Most of my cousins that joined only joined because of these stories and the lavish lifestyles they have seen my uncles live. Unlike them, I wasn t drawn in by the stories my uncles told me, or the war letters from my deceased grandfather. For some reason it was my mothers dream for me; probably because its always something she wanted to do but was afraid, a fantasy I wasn t quite ready to live in for her or them. I remember high school. Everyone I was close to was in JROTC. I would watch them in laughter every Monday morning when they walked around in their tight fitted uniforms. To me it was all a big joke; quite funny to say the least. I mean, really, how many took this seriously? It wasn t like it was really being in the army. It was just for show. Either way I know for sure that I didn t. I was always asked to join for the next year and told how it could benefit me, but somehow I always found myself politely declining. • 48. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Solar Power ABSTRACT Solar power has a vast potential. The industry is to see large growth in the upcoming future. However, there are technical and cost limitations which hinder solar power s ability to become a more influential global electricity source. Despite these limitations, solar power is utilized by many. From homes in the Unites States to developing countries, solar power is making lives and the world a better place. Governments must see the potential of solar power and push their country s energy needs away from fossil fuels and towards renewable sources, such as solar power. INTRODUCTION With the reduction of the dependence on fossil fuels, countries and citizens are looking for a way to fulfill their energy needs. Many turn to solar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... FINDINGS The largest obstacle solar power has to overcome is cost. Solar power has high startup costs. Stated in The Future of Solar Energy, Currently, the estimated installed cost per peak watt for a residential PV system is approximately 80% greater than that for a utility scale plant, with costs for a typical commercial scale installation falling somewhere in between. These cost estimates often include costs for inverters, racking and installation hardware, design and installation labor, and marketing, as well as various regulatory and financing costs (The Future of Solar Energy). Many do not want to pay for the upfront costs of instillation of solar energy devices when an alternative energy supplier is already in place. In order to successfully reduce our carbon emissions, governments must become involved. Federal money must be allotted to the research and development of solar power for it to become a viable energy source. In doing so solar power will become less privatized and potentially more affordable. There has been recent growth in the solar energy due to a 50% 70% drop in reported PV prices (without federal subsidies) per installed peak watt , and a current federal tax subsidy for solar generation: a 30% investment tax credit (ITC) (The Future of Solar Energy). The reduction of PV prices and a tax credit is a positive aspect for solar power, but the prices are still too high for the masses. The value of a renewable energy source is frequently lost when ...
