Saac 202 Website Development Paper
SAC 202 Part B Website Developer The career I have chosen to investigate is Website development. A
web developer is responsible for programming the code that tells a website how to function. He or she
is the first to design and write the code for a web site. A developer builds a web site from the bottom
up, which means they will design the website that can easily be accessed and used for both old and
young users. The developer will build the website with their client, the clients will decide what they
want on the site and the developer will need to build it. If the client does not like a specific font on the
website, the developer will need to change it. TASKS Writing and editing content When creating each

Dissecting Clarke s Cosmological Argument
Dissecting Clarke s Cosmological Argument
In the following paper, I will outline Samuel Clarke s Modern Formulation of the Cosmological
Argument and restate some of the points that he makes. Samuel Clarke s argument for the existence of
God states that There has existed from eternity some one unchangeable and independent being (37).
The argument follows a logical flow and can be better understood when the structure is laid out and
the argument reconstructed.
Clarke begins his argument with a use of disjunctive syllogism, a form of valid logical reasoning that
proposes two outcomes, denies one, and thus proves the other to be true. Clarke s premise states that
one of the two following statements must be true: either there has ... Show more content on

He states that since the series of dependent beings couldn t be caused by any external or internal
source, that it would have to be cause absolutely by nothing . He then states that this is a contradiction
to be done in time; and because duration in this case makes no difference. He also states that it is a
contradiction to suppose it done from eternity. Since the universe has parts that come into existence at
one occasion and not another, it must have a cause. There could supposedly be an infinite regress of
causes if there was evidence for such, but lacking such evidence, God must exist as the cause. Clarke
does not specifically identify God at any point in his argument. He ends with There must be on the
contrary, of necessity have existed from eternity, some one immutable and independent Being (37).
Whatever one chooses to call this Being , it is the one unchangeable and independent being that
Clarke attempts to prove the existence of in his argument.

The Moon is Down by John Steinbeck Essay
Throughout The Moon is Down by John Steinbeck, a controversial debate upon whether or not the
novel is successful in praising the ideals of democracy and free choice occurs. Some readers claim this
is not possible because the invaders are portrayed as sympathetic characters but I refuse to agree with
this argument. Throughout the book, I saw evidence to support the fact that the novel is successful in
praising democracy and free choice such as the inability for the invaders to take away the townspeople
s personal actions, the importance of the individual, an idea upon which democracy is founded but
also the pain that occurs when freedom is taken away. Many people argue that The Moon is Down is
not successful because the invaders are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Molly Morden was a victim of the invader s iron fist but she was also trapped within the town, her
freedoms restricted. She proved that freedom, limited as it was, still existed when she killed
Lieutenant Tonder, revealing that free choice was successfully shown.
The popular novel by John Steinbeck is successful in praising the ideals of democracy and free choice
because it reveals the importance of the individual, an idea upon which democracy is formed. Alex
Morden states, I m not sorry. He told me to go to work me, a free man! I used to be alderman. He said
I had to work. (p 53) Alex was the man who sparked the fire within the townspeople s hearts. His
freedom as an individual was taken away and because of this he killed Captain Bentick, providing him
with a death sentence. When Alex died, a rebellion began to grow, his death the catalyst to regain the
townspeople s freedom. As Alex is a symbol to the rebellion, the individual is the symbol for
democracy. Without freedom, you have no satisfaction that a democracy grants. When the invaders no
longer ran under the pretense of democracy and killed Alex, the rebellion began to grow into a raging
fight for freedom, proving that the ideal of democracy is successful.
The Moon is Down is successful in its ideals because it shows the pain that occurs when freedom is
taken away. Molly Morden states, I don t know why they let him come home. He was confused. He

explanation. Starting with Bringa film We Are All Neighbours I find that although image speaks a

What Activity During Oocyte Activation Prevents...
What activity during oocyte activation prevents penetration by additional sperm?
There are to methods consisting of an electrical block and mechanical block, which prevents
penetration of additional sperms during oocyte activation. Electrical block involves the absences of
fertilization (the oocyte contains a negative charge within and the sperm a positive charge). For
instance, if an oocyte comes into contact with a sperm the negative charge within the oocyte changes
to positive resulting any other sperms from penetrating the oocyte since the repulsive forces between
like charges. However, a mechanical block operates primarily in mammals and other animals such as
endoplasmic reticulum. The calcium ion stimulates the vesicles to undertake exocytosis of molecules
from cortical granules modifying the extracellular membranes such as the vitelline membrane and the
zona pellucida to harden preventing polyspermy, therefore, resulting in creating a barrier against
ruther sperm penetration. However, in mammals the first sperm to enter into the egg; the cortical
granules found in the cortex of the egg secretes a serine protease allowing it to shift its properties of
the membrane of the zona pellucida typically the layer found outside the plasma membrane. The
protease grinds up the proteins and function as a receptor in binding a sperm (i.e. ZP3 glycoproteins
and ZP2) as well as the ones that adhere the cell membrane to the vitelline envelope. The secreted
molecules consist of

Abraham Lincoln grew up in a farming family that lived on a small farm in Kentucky. That farm was
too small and pathetic to be called such. His family lived in the Western plains of the United States.
This agricultural background would help once he gained his presidency. The farm he grew up on was
around 30 acres, but only around half of this could be used as farmland. His family then moved to
Indiana, than Illinois, growing their family farm more and more. After the move to Illinois, Abraham
moved away from the family to begin life on his own. Lincoln attended the Wisconsin State

The Death Of A Rush Hour Horde
The air was heavy with the smell of beer, fumes of cigarettes, smoke stacks from the large industrial
work buildings, and a foul stench reaping from the human labor of long hours, and hard days. The
infamous rush hour horde scurried from cab to bus to train station all seeking an outlet of relief after a
long day, whether it be at a bar or where they respectively reside. Jensen, a weary man with enough
corrugation throughout his face resulting from the tireless stress making him look 20 years older than
he truly was, was sitting on a beaten down wooden bar stool with one of those typical red cushions,
sleeves rolled up, tie distorted, wiping the grease of his face, and attempting to signal the bartender, of
whom always was scowling.
Hey there, stranger, the woman just out of his peripheral view had said.
At first he didn t even acknowledge it; just another voice among the many in the distance. He was just
kicking his stool in with his big brown work boots and was on the way to his friends at a nearby table,
when he suddenly heard that same woman s voice again:
Hi stranger
But this time, she had come so close to his ear that he could feel her warm breath upon him. Abruptly
stopping in his tracks towards the table, he was now intrigued by this voice, thinking:
Why was this woman speaking to me? Where did I know her from?
Jensen turned. He wouldn t have recognized the voice or the face if any further. She looked aged, huge
bags under her eyes and almost too skinny.

A Mechanized War Poem
This poem is my favorite of the three poems we have studied because of the beautiful language and
poetic techniques it employs, and because of how realistically it portrays war. The poem captures the
horror of troops caught in the middle of a brutal and merciless war, and their desperation. In a
mechanized war, attacks take place with frightening speed and intensity, where there is no place to run
or hide, and any response is not made out of logic but of pure fear. This hasty and irrational way of
thinking fueled only by terror typically only ended in death for both the attacker and the defender, and
severe trauma for any survivors. Using a series of present continuous verbs, the poet depicts fast
evolving action. He portrays the realness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

legibility. In a times assignment students can feel rushed therefore causing them to write faster making

Natural and Sexual Selection of Vestigial and Wild Type...
Natural and Sexual Selection of Vestigial and Wild Type Drosophila melanogaster
Abstract
In this experiment, vestigial flies as well as wild type flies were used to create some diversity as well
as test one of our hypotheses. Our hypotheses are as follows; 1) The wild type flies will have a greater
relative fitness compared to the vestigial flies based on only sexual selection. The wild type has a
relative fitness of 1 since it has fully functional wings. Vestigial Winged flies are not as sexually
appealing since their wings are not functional and the wing movement is a vital part of their mating
ritual. 2) The vestigial fly will have a greater relative fitness when considering both sexual and natural
selection. With the presence of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the presence of natural selection (fly paper hanging from top of cage) posing a larger threat to
the wild flies b/c they can fly better, this will allow vestigial flies to prosper better.
Materials and Methods
To set up this experiment, two twenty five gallon aquariums, 3 petri dishes, 200 flies, rotten bananas,
and yeast were used. The bananas chosen to be an accelerant for the growth of the yeast and were
frozen so they would be easier to cut. The yeast was used because the drosophila melanogaster prefer
this as a food source. The vestigial and wild type flies were sexed (to determine their sex), sorted, and
counted. An initial population size of 100 total flies was decided so that it would be easier to
determine the phenotypic percentage of the total population. Fly paper was placed in one of the sets of
cages to impose a method of natural selection as well as the sexual selection which is being solely
tested by the other set of cages.
It was decided that there would be 80 vestigial flies and 20 wild type flies to total to an initial
population of 100 drosophila. Next, the flies were anesthetized flies using Fly Nap. The flies were
counted out to reach desired ratio, sexing the flies making sure there are equal amounts of males and
females to be sure there is ample individuals to allow successful mating. The fly s food was prepared
by taking a frozen rotten banana, cutting it in half, mashing up the banana meat, and mixing yeast into
it. The

Analysis Of The Inner Stillness Of Eileen Kramer
The Archibald prize is an open portrait competition that is held annually. Two unique artworks by
Andrew Lloyd Greensmith and Prudence Flint have expressed their meaning relating to society in
their accounts of painting.
The inner stillness of Eileen Kramer is the artwork created by Andrew Lloyd Greensmith. This art
work consists of oil and lien, with the dimension of 86 x 51cm. The artwork depicts Eileen Kramer
positioned at the bottom left hand corner, gently caressing her face with her hands. Her maroon blouse
clothing was accessorised with blue jewelleries, and was lined up against a simple light background.
The upper body shot had showcased her defined wrinkles and clear strokes of her white hair.
The contrast between the light cream background and the maroon blouse have successfully drawn in
viewers attention. The contrasting colours have made the overall artwork standout. The viewers eyes
are snatched towards the vibrant red then it is directed to Kramer s peaceful expression. Her
expression is identified as the focal point of the painting. It encapsulates the meaning of stillness
expressing the relaxation and tranquilness. Greensmith had chosen to use a variety of different colour
tones to help sculpt and emphasis Kramer s features. The use of darker shades towards her left side
creates a shadow, indicating her angled sitting position.
With the age of 102, Kramer is the oldest dancer, poet, artist and costume designer. This artwork

Melanoma (Skin Cancer) Essay
Many people think that is it possible to achieve a healthy tan, but this thought has been proven wrong.
Overexpose to UV A and UV B rays from the sun lead to premature aging of the skin, as well as the
possible formation of skin cancer, know as melanoma. An appearance of a tan is actually a stage of
burning and damage to the skin. Although a tan may be desirable to many, the fact remains that more
people need to be educated on the dangers of the sun s harmful rays, and the possible health
complications of overexposure.
There are three main types of skin cancer. These are malignant melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, and
squamous cell carcinoma. While melanoma is the most life threatening of the three, it is also the most

Those who may spend the vast majority of their week indoors but go to the beach on the weekends or
outside on vacations are much more likely to develop a skin cancer than those who spend regular time
outdoors. There are also risk factors that put some people at a higher risk for developing skin cancers,
as well. These include:
* Fair skinned people; blonde, red, or light brown hair, and blue, green or gray eyes,
* Those with family pasts of skin cancers,
* Those who experienced several blistering sunburns as children or teenagers,
* People with moles irregular in shape or color,
* People with a large number of moles on their body,
* Individuals with many freckles and/or who burn before tanning,
* People living in high altitudes, and
*People who live on/near the equator.
Distinguishing melanoma may seem hard to do, but is not so once a person is informed on what they
should be looking for. They may appear similar to moles, and may be blue or black in color. Though
they will usually lack the symmetry and border regularity of a common mole, and may have variance
in their coloring. Melanomas can either appear suddenly, or develop slowly near a preexisting mole. In
rare cases, melanomas may form on top of previously formed moles or birthmarks, but will also come
with the effects of pain, itching, or bleeding. These moles may begin to exhibit new and/or strange
characteristics such as

To Give is To Receive
The idea of giving has been around since biblical times. Its quoted in the bible over (2000 times).
Through the centuries, although it has maintained it s initial roots of helping thy neighbor, it has
evolved into a significant multi billion dollar business, and has been well accepted by the general
public. Giving is world word in acceptance, and crosses all civilized borders.
The Federal Government has recognized the importance of charitable giving in (xxxx) in the tax code
by developing the 501 3C, which has become the biggest vehicle in which givers use to access their
charitable organization.
The need for Charity Minutes is simple. Charities are looking for ways to become sustainable, which
means for the most part they must seek alternative means for raising funds. The once or twice a year
(chicken dinner) fund raising event, the silent auction, and the annual golf tournament, although
sometimes successful, will not sustain them. Aid and grants from local government has reached an all
time low. Their influential board of directors of doctors, attorneys, Indian chiefs and leaders of
business, have less time to spend on boards, and have more difficulty with the goals of attaining those
sustainability dollars. Charitable donors now more than ever, are scrutinizing every dollar they give
and are asking the question, what are you doing to become sustainable.
Although the charities (non profits) have a good relationship with the (for profit) business community,

Argumentative Essay On Cloning Horses

Cloning Horses
17 November 2017
Cloning Horses Cloning horses is like opening a pandora box, that s better left closed. In the years to
come cloning could become more common in the horse industry. As Ryan Bell states in the article The
Clone Age, When we clone we produce what we already have. (Bell Clone Age) Breeders must
remember; too much of a good thing is still a bad thing. So here s the question is cloning good or bad.
The first equine wasn t cloned until 2003. However, the first organism was cloned in 1928. Hans
Spemann was the first person to create a clone, he cloned a frog. The most well known clone may
have been Dolly the sheep. Dolly was born in 1996, that was the year cloning became more popular.
(Bell Clone Age)
Why clone? That s the question many breeders are asking. For breeding stock cloning could increase
amounts of offspring. A clone could manage a breeding career from a horse so it could continue to
show.Cloning could bring back beloved childhood horses or past champions. But is it worth the cost
of $160,000? (Bell Clone Age)
Many breeders are weary of cloning. Not only is cloning expensive but, according to the article Is
Cloning Horses Ethical by M. Campbell, a few breed associations (including the thoroughbred
association) don t even allow clones to be registered. These roadblocks may be the reason that
worldwide only 100 to 200 horses are cloned per year. (Campbell)
When cloning many people believe the product will be 100% the same as the original. Out of 20,000
genes only 13 are not the same as the original horse s genes. This is because the eggs needed to make
a clone are usually taken from slaughterhouse mares.(Bell Clone Age) In the article Equine Cloning
by Oliver Pynn the cloning process is explained. Mitochondrial DNA comes from the egg, and if the
egg doesn t come from the original horse the clone is only 99.99935% the same. (Pynn) In the United
States of America horse meat is not consumed. In some foreign countries horse meat is consumed. Is
cloned meat safe to eat? Many people worry about the potential health effects

to her coming out was vicious, boycotts and protests towards the sitcom seemed neverending and
when the ABC network made the decision to renew the show for another season, they went to the
extent of putting a parental advisory warning at the beginning of each episode. Shortly after, it was

According to Sheth et al (1991), the customer perceived value has five dimensions including
functional, conditional, social, emotional, and epistemic values. This value derived from the behaviour
of the customer and overall purchasing criteria. Furthermore, this dimension clearly illustrates the
ability of the customer to choose whether to continue buying the product or vice versa.
In the purchase of PCs and electronic equipment, the model Sheth et all (1991) is highly compatible

Main Idea Concept
In chapter one, one main idea concept is firms. Firms can be small or large in scale and simply attempt
to make maximize profits or make as much money as possible. Firms take inputs and combines them
to add value to what they produce. Firms choose what to produce, how to produce it, where to produce
it, the amount of what they produce, and the price to sell their product. A real world example of a firm
can be as simple as selling cheap umbrellas on a rainy day. Because it is raining, people are more
likely to buy an umbrella, regardless of the quality or price. One detail about a firms that stood out to
me was the sentence about the chef who spent $30 on groceries and made an $80 meal. Firms want to

Productivity is the amount of resources a business uses, such as labor and capital, to create its end
result or purpose of operation. It measures output per unit of input. A real life example could be, an
assembly line. When another person is added to an assembly line, more outputs are expected.
Therefore, the assembly line is more productive. I think that productivity is crucial to having a
successful business. A business should do whatever they can to maximize productivity because the
more productive the business is, the larger profits will be for the business, which creates a profitable
and very successful business.

Similarities Between Johnson And Clinton Impeachments
This assignment asks us to compare and contrast the impeachment proceedings of Presidents Andrew
Johnson, Richard Nixon and William Clinton, while identifying the ethical dilemmas presented by
each. In addition, students are to categorize the ethical violations of each President by severity and
discuss whether the actions by the Senate were politically motivated or ethical. The initial similarity
obviously lies in the fact that these three gentlemen belong to a very small club of which they are the
only members; Presidents who have been impeached. President Clinton underwent impeachment
proceedings but was not impeached, those who brought impeachment proceedings were unable to
muster enough votes to formally impeach him. President Andrew Johnson also underwent
impeachment proceedings but again, those who sought to discredit him were also unable to muster the
needed votes, so he too remained in office. President Nixon resigned before he was ousted. An
examination of why each of the three were impeached will give us a better understanding of the
political climate of the respective times and why Presidents Clinton and Johnson were able to remain
in office when President Nixon was forced out. According to History Place.com, Andrew Johnson was
a self educated man of humble origin... Abraham Lincoln s vice president during his second term, he
became President upon the assassination of Lincoln in April of 1865 . (Johnson, ¶4). Johnson had no

Differences And Similarities Between Lennon And Cobain
INTRODUCTION Everybody loves you when you re six feet in the ground, was once said by John
Lennon. The finest day I ever had was when tomorrow never came, Kurt. Though they died in the
midst of their career, John Lennon and Kurt Cobain amazed people with their successes, obstacles,
music. John Winston Lennon was born on October 9, 1940 in Liverpool, England ( John 1). At the
time, World War II was going on (Burlingame, John Lennon: Imagine 14). His parents, Alfred Alf
Lennon and Julia Lennon divorced when he was a child (Burlingame, John Lennon: Imagine 21) and
he had to move in with his aunt and uncle (Burlingame, John Lennon: Imagine 25). In elementary
school, he played guitar and harmonica, always enjoying music (Burlingame, John Lennon: Imagine
32). The first song he ever learned was That ll be the Day by Buddy Holly (Burlingame, John Lennon:
Imagine 33). As music took over his life, John got distracted and his aunt told him that he could not
make a living by playing guitar (Burlingame, John Lennon: Imagine 36). When John was teenager, he
started writing and composing music (Canale 1) as well as drawing and writing books. He wrote two
books, In His Own Write and A Spaniard in the Works (Watson 2). Similarly to Lennon, another
musician got their inspiration at a young age. Kurt Donald Cobain was born on February 20, 1967 in
Aberdeen, Washington to Wendy and Don Cobain (Burlingame, Kurt Cobain: Oh Well... 11). He came
from a musical family and was introduced to music at an early age. When he was three years old, he
wrote his first song, Corn on the Cops. When he started playing guitar, he held it backwards because
he was left handed, and played popular Beatles songs like Hey Jude (Burlingame, Kurt Cobain: Oh
Well... 12). He was fourteen years old when he received his first electric guitar (Burlingame, Kurt
Cobain: Oh Well... 18). Like John, Kurt was involved with the visual arts and enjoyed drawing,
whittling, and painting (Burlingame, Kurt Cobain: Oh Well... 13). The two musicians background
allowed them to prosper in the future. In 1956, John Lennon formed his first band, The Quarrymen,
who had their first concert in 1959 (Burlingame, John Lennon: Imagine 38). Later, in 1960, the band

Change In Romanesque Churches
When the ideas behind a something change, how it is represented changes too. For the catholic church,
there was a change in people s thoughts about God. A new idea about the nature of God became
popular, that God is love, light, and all things good. People also began to think of the church as the
house of God, so it must be worthy. The view of God as light meant that there should be a lot of light,
natural light, in the church. This means a lot of windows. Windows were placed around the sanctuary,
and altar areas. This is the place where communion, is held, and the effect on people coming into the
church would have been awe inspiring. At certain times the sanctuary would have been glowing. The
large stained glass windows also served as what is often called the poor man s bible , even if the
church was one of the most expensive buildings in the area. The emphasis on natural light, as opposed
to an increase in candels, was based on the idea that God s beauty ... Show more content on

It followed the train of thought that nature, the geometry of nature is perfect, and God has made that
perfect, so his house, AKA the church, should imitate that perfection. This caused the increase in
geometric shapes found in nature to be found in the church. Triangles can be found in the arched
windows and door, Circles in the Rose stained glass window. Symmetry was also very important. The
cause of such a heavy emphasis on light, and symmetry was because of something St Aquinas said ad
pulchritudinem tria requiruntur which means that the beauty of the three required. The three being
integrity, right proportion or harmony, and bright or vividness. If the church were to be the symbol for
God, and the holy city on earth it must be beautiful, and so it must have these

Figurative Language In The Scarlet Ibis
It was in the clove of seasons, summer was dead but autumn had not yet been born, that the ibis lit in
the bleeding tree (James Hurst, The Scarlet Ibis ). This line of figurative language from Hurst s short
story shows the setting and how summer is gone, but autumn has not started yet. In literature, authors
use figurative language to emphasize setting or to add to characterization. In The Scarlet Ibis , Doodle
is a six year old disabled boy who is unable to walk. Brother , the narrator, works hard to get Doodle
to be able to things that normal kids do, but the pride he has for himself does not want to deal with the
embarrassment of having a disabled brother. In The Scarlet Ibis author James Hurst uses figurative
language to establish the theme of how pride can blind oneself from the things that really matter.
The metaphors used in the short story reveal to the reader the insecurity the brother has within
himself. The brother works hard with Doodle to try to get him to walk, and once they succeed he feels
great confidence in himself. Doodle struggles to move great distances, so getting him to walk further
develops the brother pride. After he succeeds in getting Doodle to walk, he learns something new
about his relationship with Doodle as well as learning that pride is a wonderful, terrible thing, a seed
that bears two vines, life and death (5). The pride Brother has for himself causes him to push Doodle
to work harder to achieve the goal of walking. He tells himself he is doing this for Doodle, that he
wants Doodle to feel good about himself. However, the brother wants to feel good about himself by
developing a non disabled brother. While Doodle does start to walk, the reader sees how the brother
disregards Doodles feelings in the process. Like seeds, which are the start of any vegetable, plant or
flower, pride is the start of a life, or a vine, that can lead to one of two outcomes, one that leads to a
more self confident life, and another that causes pain and suffering in others. Through the use of
metaphors the author reveals the narrator s own insecurity and how it causes him to make decisions
for the wrong reasons.
Furthermore, Hurst s use of personification also adds to the theme, by revealing

Corporate Governance in Australia
Introduction A decade ago, the term corporate governance was barely heard. Today, it s like climate
change and private equity, corporate governance is a staple of everyday business language and capital
markets are better for it (ASX 2010). Therefore, corporate governance can be defined as a term that
refers broadly to the rules, processes, or laws by which businesses are managed, regulated, and
controlled. The term can refer to internal factors defined by the officers, stockholders or constitution
of a corporation, as well as to external forces such as consumer groups, clients, and government
regulations (Farrar, 2009). But Spafford (2003,p. 24) stated that Corporate Governance is a manner in
which the power of a corporation is exercised in the running of the corporation s total portfolio of
assets and resources with the objective of maintaining and increasing shareholders long term value
while taking into account the interest of other stakeholders. It therefore tends to ensure that leaders act
in the best interests of the corporation and its stakeholders. Besides that it enhances effectiveness,
competitiveness and sustainability of the corporation (Spafford,2003). Outline brief history of
corporate governance The history of Corporate Governance can be traced back to the year 1929
according to Taborda (2009,p. 21), when the first Governance legislation known as Great Crash (GC)
was enacted in response to corporate excess. Arguably, the objective of the legislation

Essay On Antinuclear Antibody Nomenclature
Contemporary Issues on Antinuclear Antibody Nomenclature
Detection of ANA by IFA technique demonstrates binding to specific intracellular structures within the
cells resulting in a number of staining patterns that are usually categorized based on the
subcomponents recognized and degree of binding reflected by the fluorescent intensity or titer. The
provision of ANA pattern and titer is considered to be of added clinical value especially with respect
to other methods for their detection [1 3, 15, 21 29]. As mentioned above, the most commonly
recognized and reported patterns by clinical laboratories are those staining the nuclear region referred
to as homogeneous, speckled, centromere, and nucleolar [1, 2, 15 17]. With the use of HEp 2 cells ...

Despite the recognition that non nuclear patterns, cytoplasmic and mitotic are clinically relevant, no
consensus to report these as ANA negative or positive was reached. Central to this contention were the
implications for existing diagnostic/classification criteria for ANA associated diseases such as
autoimmune hepatitis [16, 31].
Assessment of Antinuclear Antibodies
Since the adoption of ANA as a routine clinical laboratory test, the techniques for their detection
and/or measurement have evolved and now encompass a variety of immunological methods [21 30].
IFA using HEp 2 cells is considered the gold standard method for detecting ANA with a number of
cons and pros [1 4, 21, 22, 26, 30]. Central to the analytical challenges associated with ANA IFA
testing are its labor intensiveness with significant amount of training required for competence,
subjectivity in titer, poor standardization of reagents, and pattern determination, labor intensiveness as
well as a decline workforce in the clinical laboratory [1, 4, 15, 30, 32]. Thus, in some laboratories,
ANA IFA has been replaced by high throughput, less subjective methods including ELISA and
multiplex assays such as the line immunoassays (LIA) and multiplexed bead assays (MBA) [22 29].
The non IFA assays differ in source, purity, concentration and binding capacity of the antigens;
reference materials or standards used in their development, as well as secondary antibodies
(conjugates) detection. Therefore, it is not

beautiful outpourings of love and I want to say thank you publicly.
I have not been back to Uniontown for several reasons. The past 13 years of my life have been lived

A favorite quote of mine by Paul David Tripp, that has become very dear to me, is that God will not
protect us from that which he will perfect us through.
And while I am not claiming by any means to have arrived at some spiritual revelation of
completeness, I do feel I have a message/testimony to share with you, my family of believers. I have
prayed about this, and asked close friends to pray over this as well. I truly come to you humbly to
share what God has been speaking to my heart in this most difficult season of my life and perhaps it
will encourage, challenge and edify you as well. I want to share with you about idols, the body and
walls.
God graciously, yes, graciously and lovingly removed an idol in my life this summer. Yes, it was a
violent shattering to pieces of an idol I did not even know I had made of my husband. God very
quickly reminded me of many instances in scripture how many times He calls for idols to be destroyed
or abandoned for HIM. I have spent much time this summer reading and studying about idolatry.
Friends, God loves us too much for our hearts to become enslaved by idols that do not satisfy and do
not deserve our affection over Him!
One day, when I was literally face down on the floor in my bedroom in a puddle of tears crying out to
God, he gently reminded me of Abraham, walking his beloved son Isaac up the mountain. Do you
know what he was supposed to do at the top of that mountain? Sacrifice the very covenant son that

ATPAnd Creatine ATPAs The Energy Currency Of Life
Energy System
What is ATP?
ATP is often referred to as the energy currency of life. The body s cells use a special form of energy
called adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to power almost all their activities, such as muscle contraction,
protein construction, transportation of substrates, communication with other cells, activating heat
control mechanisms, and dismantling damaged and unused structures. It is the high energy molecule
that stores the energy we need to do have for just about everything we do. It is present in the
cytoplasm and nucleoplasm of every cell, and essentially all the physiological mechanisms that
require energy for operation obtain it directly from the stored ATP. Whether it s during a 26 mile
marathon run or one explosive movement like a tennis serve, skeletal muscle is powered by one and
only one compound, adenosine triphosphate (ATP) . However, the body stores only a small quantity of
this energy currency within the cells and its enough to power just a few seconds of all out exercise for
example a a explosive movement in a football match.
Phosphocreatine:
Amount of ATP produced ATP and creatine phosphate (or phosphocreatine, or PCr) make up the ATP
PCr system. it is the immediate energy system. Creatine phosphate (PCr) is a high energy compound.
When exercise intensity is high, or energy needs are instantaneous, creatine phosphate stored in
muscle is broken down to provide energy to make ATP. When the high energy bond in PCr is broken,
the energy it releases is used to resynthesise ATP.
Sports The muscles use the phosphocreatine energy system, also known as the anaerobic alactic
system, during the first 10 seconds of sustained muscle contraction. It is anaerobic because it doesn t
require oxygen to function. The energy system that powers muscle contraction uses ATP adenosine
triphosphate.
Recovery time Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) stores in the muscle last for approximately 2 seconds
and the rest of ATP from Creatine Phosphate (CP) will continue until CP stores in the muscles are
depleted, approximately 4 to 6 seconds. This gives us around 5 to 8 seconds of ATP production.
Anaerobic System:
Amount of ATP produced The anaerobic glycolytic system produces a lot of power, but

My first selection is the Rough Sea at a Jetty. The reason I chose this piece is because of the colors and
drawing techniques used, as well as the balance of the overall piece. The piece is a dark hued painting
(oil on canvas) made in the 1650s, depicting a very stormy sea with small sailboats in the background.
The foreground consists of two men standing on a jetty that has a pole like wooden structure standing
on it; the two men appear to be conversing, probably about the storm. The painting is asymmetrical
because if you cut it down the middle vertically then one side would have the wooden pole, most of
the jetty and the two men in it, while the other side would have virtually nothing except some distant
(almost obscure) sailboats, part of the jetty and a distant smaller jetty. The painting is unified by its
theme: A stormy sea by a jetty. The waves are painted so as to show them crashing into one another by
painting the caps white and using bold curves to emphasize the choppiness of the sea. The dark clouds
in the background are a testament to the severity of the storm. The emphasis is on the jetty and men in
the foreground. There are also about four sailboats positioned across the piece in the background to
contrast against the dark grey sky and grey

said to sing in front of my parents,it might make you fell more comfortable performing for others.
After hearing him say that I went home and looked up some more ways to help overcome my stage
fright. So through that period of time I found ways to relax myself with deep breathing and
meditation. I did this a couple of times during the day. Then after doing that I asked my parents to go

Investigate the Osmosis of Potato Cells in Various Salt Solutions
Introduction
I have been asked to investigate the effect of changing the concentration of a solution on the
movement of water into and out of potato cells. I will be able to change the input of my experiment.
The input variable will be the concentration of the solution. The
100% solution is sodium chloride dissolved in water (salt water).
This will be referred to as the 100% solution from now on. But the type of solution is not important as
Osmosis is all about differences in concentrations. The output variable will be the weight of the potato
chips, the movement of the water into and out of the potato.
Osmosis is the diffusion of water through a semi permeable

Planning
Firstly here is a list of equipment I used:
· Boiling tubes
· Weighing scales
· Knife
· Paper towels
· 100% solution
· 0% solution (distilled water)
· measuring beakers
· potato chips
· Cork borer
We planned to start our experiment by doing some preliminary work. We planned to set up our
experiment in the following way. We take one potato and cut from it three even potato chips. (These
potato chips will never be the same weight as we had to cut them ourselves and it is too inaccurate. So
we decided to calculate the percentage gain/loss as this would mean that the measurements are all on
the same scale.) We then would weigh the potato chips on a very sensitive weighing scale. These
weighing scales can weigh things to a hundredth of a gram so our measurements would be very
accurate. We d note down the weights. Then we d got our solutions ready. We were only given a
100% solution and a 0% solution so we had to mix them in the right ratio to get all the solutions we
needed. We decided to do 5 different types of solutions so we would have a wide range of results and
it would be more accurate. We d use 100%, 75%, 50%, 25%, 0% solutions in our experiment. But for
preliminary work we would only need three different strength solutions. These were the absolute max
the absolute zero and the middle, 100%, 50% 0% solutions.
We d cut three potato chips weighed

Ashoka believed this was wrong, and was compelled to end medical insufficiency. This shows how he
focuses on the needs of the people, believes everyone should have access to something as vital as
good medicine. Also, the second section of Book II of the Arthasastra explains how the king must
store items such as vegetables, timber, and metals in the forts so they can be used for years. Most of
these items are basic resources. Just like in the modern world, there were areas that lack access to
them. Chandragupta wanted to store these items so that everyone could enjoy them. This shows how
Chandragupta believed that having an abundance of resources for the people to use will be a good
thing, and that he wants all the citizens to have these staples. The people understood that their leader
believed everyone in the empire should have basic needs and his unselfish concern therefore appealed

power and consequence, and an important contribution to trade. Therefore powerful countries did not
get involved with Tibet, in the fear of provoking influential China.
While the Dalai Lama remained in Tibet, his life was at stake. Tibet slowly went into a cataclysmic
effect of destruction and disorder. The freedom of speech was now lost to the Tibetan people, freedom
marches and movements were banned, the result in not complying with this unjust system was death
or brutal imprisonment for years at a time. Even though these protests were violently suppressed by
the Communist government and martial law was imposed in 1989, demonstrations against Chinese
rule have nevertheless continued.
Following Tibet s Liberation, Mao Zedong immediately established the Seventeen Point System,
which totally eliminated Tibet s past independence. Since then, almost one and a half million people in
Tibet have been slain, and over six thousand religious buildings have been demolished. These horrific
figures have shocked the world and brought about a great sense of remorse and compassion towards
the Tibetan people and the Dalai Lama, as they continue to resist the Chinese through the means of

An Analysis Of Don Mozart s Opera Buffa
In his opera buffa, Don Giovanni, Mozart depicts Don Giovanni as a libertine and philanderer. At the
start of Act I, Scene III of the opera, there is a festive peasant wedding, an ensemble between the
bride, Zerlina, the groom, Masetto, and the chorus, which consists of the other peasants, all singing
about the joys of marriage. Don Giovanni, a nobleman, and his manservant, Leporello, interrupts the
wedding, and invites everyone to his villa. He even forces Masetto to go the villa too, leaving Zerlina
alone with Don Giovanni. Before leaving, Masetto protests, but understands that he has no control
over the situation. Then, Masetto sings an aria, Ho Capito, which means I understand, before leaving.
Alone with Zerlina, in recitative, Don Giovanni tries to seduce her and promises to marry her. Shortly
after he sings that they will be married, an ensemble between Don Giovanni and Zerlina starts, in
which Zerlina reveals that she would be happy to marry him but fears that Don Giovanni is deceiving
her. The duet ends with Don Giovanni appearing to succeed with his scheme. Three versions of the
opera, the first conducted by Craig Smith and directed by Peter Sellars in Vienna in 1990, the second
conducted by Colin Davis and directed by John Vernon in the Royal Opera House in London in 1998,
and the third conducted by Nicholas Harnencourt and directed by Brian Large in the Zurich Opera
House in 2001 mostly have the same libretto for this scene and depict a similar disparity in

Heart Of Darkness Vs Apocalypse Now Essay
Apocalypse Now vs. Heart of Darkness A Scene Analysis We never realize how important something
is to us until it s lost, and the characters in both Apocalypse Now and Heart of Darkness are no
exception. Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad is a novel about a character named Marlow, who is on
a ship along with a sea crew. He shares his adventures in Africa as his curiosity about the man named
Kurtz motivates him to search for him. Meanwhile, Apocalypse Now takes a twist on the tale, taking
place during the Vietnam War. Captain Willard is a soldier part of the U.S. forces sent to search
Vietnam to search for Kurtz, a man who has gone rogue from the army and kept himself hidden from
others, and execute him. Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now both illustrate a similar scene, the
helmsman s death along with Clean s and Chief s death in respective stories, as well as deviate from
each other while retaining identical meanings that bring together an underlying message between these
two stories. Good and evil are comparable to a wolf in sheep s clothing, or in Heart of Darkness,
concealed within contrasting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conrad comes to the conclusion that we should understand what s truly bad and good in the world and
the importance of what we have and through his use of reversal of colors and Marlow s personality
respectively from the Helmsman s death. CoppolaCoppla expands this approach from the deviations
made through the movie, as Clean s death by bullets and his tape by his family signifying the evil
overrunning the good. Meanwhile, the Chief s grieving and rage to the show the sorrow after losing
what we lost in the harsh world surrounding around us . The underlying meaning that both authors try
to convey together is that we must be considerate of our actions. What people and ourselves do to each
other may be evil, and as a result, we lose the good things that are precious to

Nihilism and Existentialism in Cormac McCarthy s The Crossing
Nihilism and Existentialism in Cormac McCarthy s The Crossing
Cormac McCarthy s second book in The Border Trilogy offers an impressive array of worldviews all
competing together in the larger narrative framework of the novel. These are not only expressed
through the life of the protagonist Billy Parham and his brother Boyd, but also in the narratives of the
many people they encounter on their horseback journeys through the hot desert sands of Mexico.
Critic Robert L. Jarrett, associate professor of English at the University of Houston Downtown,
suggests the same in Cormac McCarthy, noting that Despite the claims of the ex priest [in The
Crossing] that all men s tales are one, such visions or tales are individual, highly ... Show more

In his encyclopedic entry Nihilism, Dr. Alan Pratt, professor of Humanities at Embry Riddle
University, points to the passage in Shakespeare s Macbeth when she goes into her soliloquy about the
futility of life to demonstrate the stance of the existential nihilist in classic literature:
Out, out, brief candle!
Life s but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more; it is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing. (Qtd. in Pratt, para. 12.)
Other well known motifs that express the existential nihilist s perspective of life include the Greek tale
of Sisyphus, first noted by novelist Albert Camus in his 1942 book The Myth of Sisyphus. Sisyphus
was a cruel king in Corinth who was condemned to spend eternity rolling a huge boulder up a
mountain, knowing full well that once he reached the top it would again only come rumbling back
down, yet he shouldered his burden again and again, faithfully trudging back up the mountainside in
compliance with his fate. For the existential nihilist, the

Appropriation Of African American Culture
In today s society, we live in a heavily social media world that blurs The lines between heritage and
trends. The question often arises if someone is solely trying to imitate something without paying
homage to other or stealing it without giving the entitled background of where it originated from.
What caused these hairstyles that are rooted from Africa to somehow be manipulated and transition to
America. The alteration affects the way we view appropriation and what is considered to be a personal
identity of a specific background. Our personal identity is connected to the folkloric aspect of
traditional customs that are passed on for generations to generation. Having the customs gives people
a sense of roots to grow from and always have something to apply in their daily life. It s important to
have something to look onto for guidance having folkloric customs of tradition Africa hairstyles gives
that to African American people.
How would you feel if you were kidnapped from your home and forced leave everything you know?
In many folklore stories, people describe the situation as being unjust woman were forced to shave
their hair for what slave masters called sanitary reasons. People brought the idea of braiding when
being transported during the time of slavery it kept them close to their roots and helped demonstrate
their independence from slave owners. Braids helped people keep their hair neat and tidy while
working on plantations. In Africa, braids were historically

The Civil War And The 19th Century Essay
The 19th century was one of the most troubling times in human history. Things like the civil war, child
labor and even slavery helped shape the literary culture from 1850 1900. The civil war was a war
fought between the Northern and Southern States in the United States of America. Among the 34
states in January 1861, seven Southern slave states individually declared their secession from the
United States of America and formed the Confederate States of America. The first state to secede was
south carolina after the election of president lincoln in 1860. After South Carolina seceded, the cotton
states of Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas followed, seceding in January
and February 1861. Union and Confederate leadership and fighting soldiers on both sides believed that
slavery caused the Civil War. Union men mainly believed the war was to emancipate the slaves.
Confederates fought to protect southern society, and slavery as a part of it. Sectionalism refers to the
different economies, social structure, culture and customs and values of the North and South. While
the south based their economy off of slave labor and plantation agriculture, the North was urbanizing,
industrializing and had feigned slavery out of existence. Southern slaveholding states, because of their
low cost labor, had little need for industrialization. While the North highly invested in its
industrialization, could not compete with the industries of Europe in offering high prices

Morals vs. Instinct in The Lord of the Flies by William...
The Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, is an allegory that connects the boys behavior in the novel
to the basic behavior of human nature. In the novel, the boys fear a wild beast that has the potential to
kill them off. However, Simon, a quiet boy, finds that the beast is not an animal that everyone should
fear, but is a part of each boy himself. As Simon wanders back to a beautiful meadow that he had
traveled to before, he finds that it has changed. Instead of the peaceful meadow that Simon had
discovered previously, the bloody head of a sow impaled by Jack and his follows taints the meadow.
They had done this as an offering to the beast, hoping that the beast would be satisfied with the sow s
head and would give up hunting for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
See? (Golding 144). Simon, in shock of what the Lord of the Flies says to him, knew that one of his
times was coming on (Golding 143). His emotional distress triggers his body to lose all consciousness.
The encounter with the Lord of the Flies supports Simon s thoughts that the beast that the boys are
hunting for is not an actual animal. The Lord of the Flies tries to persuade Simon to let go of his
rational thoughts and be taken over by his primal instincts in order to have fun like the other boys.
However, when Simon s silence declares that he refuses to let go of logic and rationality, the Lord of
the Flies realizes that Simon knows what the beast really is the innermost part of the boys. Simon
seems to make this connection that the Lord of the Flies is representational to the inner beast within
the boys almost instantly. His gaze was held by that ancient, inescapable recognition (Golding 139).
Simon instantly The Lord of the Flies quickly makes the connection, too. You knew, didn t you? I m
part of you? Close, close, close! I m the reason why it s no go? Why things are what they are?
(Golding, 1 ). The Lord of the Flies is symbolic to all the evil that is in humans. As Simon realizes that
he was right about the beast, he tries to go back to the other boys to warn them about his discovery,
but the Lord of the Flies gets angry. This is ridiculous. You know perfectly well you ll only meet me

  • 3. Dissecting Clarke s Cosmological Argument Dissecting Clarke s Cosmological Argument In the following paper, I will outline Samuel Clarke s Modern Formulation of the Cosmological Argument and restate some of the points that he makes. Samuel Clarke s argument for the existence of God states that There has existed from eternity some one unchangeable and independent being (37). The argument follows a logical flow and can be better understood when the structure is laid out and the argument reconstructed. Clarke begins his argument with a use of disjunctive syllogism, a form of valid logical reasoning that proposes two outcomes, denies one, and thus proves the other to be true. Clarke s premise states that one of the two following statements must be true: either there has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He states that since the series of dependent beings couldn t be caused by any external or internal source, that it would have to be cause absolutely by nothing . He then states that this is a contradiction to be done in time; and because duration in this case makes no difference. He also states that it is a contradiction to suppose it done from eternity. Since the universe has parts that come into existence at one occasion and not another, it must have a cause. There could supposedly be an infinite regress of causes if there was evidence for such, but lacking such evidence, God must exist as the cause. Clarke does not specifically identify God at any point in his argument. He ends with There must be on the contrary, of necessity have existed from eternity, some one immutable and independent Being (37). Whatever one chooses to call this Being , it is the one unchangeable and independent being that Clarke attempts to prove the existence of in his argument. The Moon is Down by John Steinbeck Essay Throughout The Moon is Down by John Steinbeck, a controversial debate upon whether or not the novel is successful in praising the ideals of democracy and free choice occurs. Some readers claim this is not possible because the invaders are portrayed as sympathetic characters but I refuse to agree with this argument. Throughout the book, I saw evidence to support the fact that the novel is successful in praising democracy and free choice such as the inability for the invaders to take away the townspeople s personal actions, the importance of the individual, an idea upon which democracy is founded but also the pain that occurs when freedom is taken away. Many people argue that The Moon is Down is not successful because the invaders are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Molly Morden was a victim of the invader s iron fist but she was also trapped within the town, her freedoms restricted. She proved that freedom, limited as it was, still existed when she killed Lieutenant Tonder, revealing that free choice was successfully shown. The popular novel by John Steinbeck is successful in praising the ideals of democracy and free choice because it reveals the importance of the individual, an idea upon which democracy is formed. Alex Morden states, I m not sorry. He told me to go to work me, a free man! I used to be alderman. He said I had to work. (p 53) Alex was the man who sparked the fire within the townspeople s hearts. His freedom as an individual was taken away and because of this he killed Captain Bentick, providing him with a death sentence. When Alex died, a rebellion began to grow, his death the catalyst to regain the townspeople s freedom. As Alex is a symbol to the rebellion, the individual is the symbol for democracy. Without freedom, you have no satisfaction that a democracy grants. When the invaders no longer ran under the pretense of democracy and killed Alex, the rebellion began to grow into a raging fight for freedom, proving that the ideal of democracy is successful. The Moon is Down is successful in its ideals because it shows the pain that occurs when freedom is taken away. Molly Morden states, I don t know why they let him come home. He was confused. He ... • 6. What Activity During Oocyte Activation Prevents... What activity during oocyte activation prevents penetration by additional sperm? There are to methods consisting of an electrical block and mechanical block, which prevents penetration of additional sperms during oocyte activation. Electrical block involves the absences of fertilization (the oocyte contains a negative charge within and the sperm a positive charge). For instance, if an oocyte comes into contact with a sperm the negative charge within the oocyte changes to positive resulting any other sperms from penetrating the oocyte since the repulsive forces between like charges. However, a mechanical block operates primarily in mammals and other animals such as endoplasmic reticulum. The calcium ion stimulates the vesicles to undertake exocytosis of molecules from cortical granules modifying the extracellular membranes such as the vitelline membrane and the zona pellucida to harden preventing polyspermy, therefore, resulting in creating a barrier against ruther sperm penetration. However, in mammals the first sperm to enter into the egg; the cortical granules found in the cortex of the egg secretes a serine protease allowing it to shift its properties of the membrane of the zona pellucida typically the layer found outside the plasma membrane. The protease grinds up the proteins and function as a receptor in binding a sperm (i.e. ZP3 glycoproteins and ZP2) as well as the ones that adhere the cell membrane to the vitelline envelope. Jensen, a weary man with enough corrugation throughout his face resulting from the tireless stress making him look 20 years older than he truly was, was sitting on a beaten down wooden bar stool with one of those typical red cushions, sleeves rolled up, tie distorted, wiping the grease of his face, and attempting to signal the bartender, of whom always was scowling. Hey there, stranger, the woman just out of his peripheral view had said. At first he didn t even acknowledge it; just another voice among the many in the distance. He was just kicking his stool in with his big brown work boots and was on the way to his friends at a nearby table, when he suddenly heard that same woman s voice again: Hi stranger But this time, she had come so close to his ear that he could feel her warm breath upon him. A Mechanized War Poem This poem is my favorite of the three poems we have studied because of the beautiful language and poetic techniques it employs, and because of how realistically it portrays war. The poem captures the horror of troops caught in the middle of a brutal and merciless war, and their desperation. In a mechanized war, attacks take place with frightening speed and intensity, where there is no place to run or hide, and any response is not made out of logic but of pure fear. This hasty and irrational way of thinking fueled only by terror typically only ended in death for both the attacker and the defender, and severe trauma for any survivors. Natural and Sexual Selection of Vestigial and Wild Type Drosophila melanogaster Abstract In this experiment, vestigial flies as well as wild type flies were used to create some diversity as well as test one of our hypotheses. Our hypotheses are as follows; 1) The wild type flies will have a greater relative fitness compared to the vestigial flies based on only sexual selection. The wild type has a relative fitness of 1 since it has fully functional wings. Vestigial Winged flies are not as sexually appealing since their wings are not functional and the wing movement is a vital part of their mating ritual. 2) The vestigial fly will have a greater relative fitness when considering both sexual and natural selection. Materials and Methods To set up this experiment, two twenty five gallon aquariums, 3 petri dishes, 200 flies, rotten bananas, and yeast were used. The bananas chosen to be an accelerant for the growth of the yeast and were frozen so they would be easier to cut. The yeast was used because the drosophila melanogaster prefer this as a food source. The vestigial and wild type flies were sexed (to determine their sex), sorted, and counted. An initial population size of 100 total flies was decided so that it would be easier to determine the phenotypic percentage of the total population. Fly paper was placed in one of the sets of cages to impose a method of natural selection as well as the sexual selection which is being solely tested by the other set of cages. It was decided that there would be 80 vestigial flies and 20 wild type flies to total to an initial population of 100 drosophila. Next, the flies were anesthetized flies using Fly Nap. The flies were counted out to reach desired ratio, sexing the flies making sure there are equal amounts of males and females to be sure there is ample individuals to allow successful mating. • 16. Argumentative Essay On Cloning Horses Kassidy Schumann Ward English 1 Cloning Horses 17 November 2017 Cloning Horses Cloning horses is like opening a pandora box, that s better left closed. In the years to come cloning could become more common in the horse industry. As Ryan Bell states in the article The Clone Age, When we clone we produce what we already have. (Bell Clone Age) Breeders must remember; too much of a good thing is still a bad thing. So here s the question is cloning good or bad. The first equine wasn t cloned until 2003. However, the first organism was cloned in 1928. Hans Spemann was the first person to create a clone, he cloned a frog. The most well known clone may have been Dolly the sheep. Dolly was born in 1996, that was the year cloning became more popular. (Bell Clone Age) Why clone? That s the question many breeders are asking. For breeding stock cloning could increase amounts of offspring. A clone could manage a breeding career from a horse so it could continue to show.Cloning could bring back beloved childhood horses or past champions. But is it worth the cost of $160,000? (Bell Clone Age) Many breeders are weary of cloning. Not only is cloning expensive but, according to the article Is Cloning Horses Ethical by M. Campbell, a few breed associations (including the thoroughbred association) don t even allow clones to be registered. These roadblocks may be the reason that worldwide only 100 to 200 horses are cloned per year. (Campbell) When cloning many people believe the product will be 100% the same as the original. Out of 20,000 genes only 13 are not the same as the original horse s genes. This is because the eggs needed to make a clone are usually taken from slaughterhouse mares.(Bell Clone Age) In the article Equine Cloning by Oliver Pynn the cloning process is explained. Mitochondrial DNA comes from the egg, and if the egg doesn t come from the original horse the clone is only 99.99935% the same. (Pynn) In the United States of America horse meat is not consumed. In some foreign countries horse meat is consumed. Is cloned meat safe to eat? Many people worry about the potential health effects ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Similarities Between Johnson And Clinton Impeachments This assignment asks us to compare and contrast the impeachment proceedings of Presidents Andrew Johnson, Richard Nixon and William Clinton, while identifying the ethical dilemmas presented by each. In addition, students are to categorize the ethical violations of each President by severity and discuss whether the actions by the Senate were politically motivated or ethical. The initial similarity obviously lies in the fact that these three gentlemen belong to a very small club of which they are the only members; Presidents who have been impeached. President Clinton underwent impeachment proceedings but was not impeached, those who brought impeachment proceedings were unable to muster enough votes to formally impeach him. President Andrew Johnson also underwent impeachment proceedings but again, those who sought to discredit him were also unable to muster the needed votes, so he too remained in office. President Nixon resigned before he was ousted. An examination of why each of the three were impeached will give us a better understanding of the political climate of the respective times and why Presidents Clinton and Johnson were able to remain in office when President Nixon was forced out. The first song he ever learned was That ll be the Day by Buddy Holly (Burlingame, John Lennon: Imagine 33). As music took over his life, John got distracted and his aunt told him that he could not make a living by playing guitar (Burlingame, John Lennon: Imagine 36). When John was teenager, he started writing and composing music (Canale 1) as well as drawing and writing books. He wrote two books, In His Own Write and A Spaniard in the Works (Watson 2). Similarly to Lennon, another musician got their inspiration at a young age. Kurt Donald Cobain was born on February 20, 1967 in Aberdeen, Washington to Wendy and Don Cobain (Burlingame, Kurt Cobain: Oh Well... 11). He came from a musical family and was introduced to music at an early age. When he was three years old, he wrote his first song, Corn on the Cops. When he started playing guitar, he held it backwards because he was left handed, and played popular Beatles songs like Hey Jude (Burlingame, Kurt Cobain: Oh Well... 12). He was fourteen years old when he received his first electric guitar (Burlingame, Kurt Cobain: Oh Well... 18). Like John, Kurt was involved with the visual arts and enjoyed drawing, whittling, and painting (Burlingame, Kurt Cobain: Oh Well... 13). The two musicians background allowed them to prosper in the future. • 24. Change In Romanesque Churches When the ideas behind a something change, how it is represented changes too. For the catholic church, there was a change in people s thoughts about God. A new idea about the nature of God became popular, that God is love, light, and all things good. People also began to think of the church as the house of God, so it must be worthy. The view of God as light meant that there should be a lot of light, natural light, in the church. This means a lot of windows. Windows were placed around the sanctuary, and altar areas. This is the place where communion, is held, and the effect on people coming into the church would have been awe inspiring. At certain times the sanctuary would have been glowing. The large stained glass windows also served as what is often called the poor man s bible , even if the church was one of the most expensive buildings in the area. The emphasis on natural light, as opposed to an increase in candels, was based on the idea that God s beauty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It followed the train of thought that nature, the geometry of nature is perfect, and God has made that perfect, so his house, AKA the church, should imitate that perfection. This caused the increase in geometric shapes found in nature to be found in the church. Triangles can be found in the arched windows and door, Circles in the Rose stained glass window. Symmetry was also very important. The cause of such a heavy emphasis on light, and symmetry was because of something St Aquinas said ad pulchritudinem tria requiruntur which means that the beauty of the three required. • 25. Figurative Language In The Scarlet Ibis It was in the clove of seasons, summer was dead but autumn had not yet been born, that the ibis lit in the bleeding tree (James Hurst, The Scarlet Ibis ). This line of figurative language from Hurst s short story shows the setting and how summer is gone, but autumn has not started yet. In literature, authors use figurative language to emphasize setting or to add to characterization. In The Scarlet Ibis , Doodle is a six year old disabled boy who is unable to walk. Brother , the narrator, works hard to get Doodle to be able to things that normal kids do, but the pride he has for himself does not want to deal with the embarrassment of having a disabled brother. In The Scarlet Ibis author James Hurst uses figurative language to establish the theme of how pride can blind oneself from the things that really matter. The metaphors used in the short story reveal to the reader the insecurity the brother has within himself. The brother works hard with Doodle to try to get him to walk, and once they succeed he feels great confidence in himself. Doodle struggles to move great distances, so getting him to walk further develops the brother pride. After he succeeds in getting Doodle to walk, he learns something new about his relationship with Doodle as well as learning that pride is a wonderful, terrible thing, a seed that bears two vines, life and death (5). The pride Brother has for himself causes him to push Doodle to work harder to achieve the goal of walking. He tells himself he is doing this for Doodle, that he wants Doodle to feel good about himself. However, the brother wants to feel good about himself by developing a non disabled brother. While Doodle does start to walk, the reader sees how the brother disregards Doodles feelings in the process. Like seeds, which are the start of any vegetable, plant or flower, pride is the start of a life, or a vine, that can lead to one of two outcomes, one that leads to a more self confident life, and another that causes pain and suffering in others. Through the use of metaphors the author reveals the narrator s own insecurity and how it causes him to make decisions for the wrong reasons. Furthermore, Hurst s use of personification also adds to the theme, by revealing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Corporate Governance in Australia Introduction A decade ago, the term corporate governance was barely heard. Today, it s like climate change and private equity, corporate governance is a staple of everyday business language and capital markets are better for it (ASX 2010). Therefore, corporate governance can be defined as a term that refers broadly to the rules, processes, or laws by which businesses are managed, regulated, and controlled. The term can refer to internal factors defined by the officers, stockholders or constitution of a corporation, as well as to external forces such as consumer groups, clients, and government regulations (Farrar, 2009). But Spafford (2003,p. 24) stated that Corporate Governance is a manner in which the power of a corporation is exercised in the running of the corporation s total portfolio of assets and resources with the objective of maintaining and increasing shareholders long term value while taking into account the interest of other stakeholders. It therefore tends to ensure that leaders act in the best interests of the corporation and its stakeholders. Besides that it enhances effectiveness, competitiveness and sustainability of the corporation (Spafford,2003). Outline brief history of corporate governance The history of Corporate Governance can be traced back to the year 1929 according to Taborda (2009,p. 21), when the first Governance legislation known as Great Crash (GC) was enacted in response to corporate excess. Essay On Antinuclear Antibody Nomenclature Contemporary Issues on Antinuclear Antibody Nomenclature Detection of ANA by IFA technique demonstrates binding to specific intracellular structures within the cells resulting in a number of staining patterns that are usually categorized based on the subcomponents recognized and degree of binding reflected by the fluorescent intensity or titer. The provision of ANA pattern and titer is considered to be of added clinical value especially with respect to other methods for their detection [1 3, 15, 21 29]. As mentioned above, the most commonly recognized and reported patterns by clinical laboratories are those staining the nuclear region referred to as homogeneous, speckled, centromere, and nucleolar [1, 2, 15 17]. With the use of HEp 2 cells ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite the recognition that non nuclear patterns, cytoplasmic and mitotic are clinically relevant, no consensus to report these as ANA negative or positive was reached. Central to this contention were the implications for existing diagnostic/classification criteria for ANA associated diseases such as autoimmune hepatitis [16, 31]. Assessment of Antinuclear Antibodies Since the adoption of ANA as a routine clinical laboratory test, the techniques for their detection and/or measurement have evolved and now encompass a variety of immunological methods [21 30]. IFA using HEp 2 cells is considered the gold standard method for detecting ANA with a number of cons and pros [1 4, 21, 22, 26, 30]. Central to the analytical challenges associated with ANA IFA testing are its labor intensiveness with significant amount of training required for competence, subjectivity in titer, poor standardization of reagents, and pattern determination, labor intensiveness as well as a decline workforce in the clinical laboratory [1, 4, 15, 30, 32]. Thus, in some laboratories, ANA IFA has been replaced by high throughput, less subjective methods including ELISA and multiplex assays such as the line immunoassays (LIA) and multiplexed bead assays (MBA) [22 29]. The non IFA assays differ in source, purity, concentration and binding capacity of the antigens; reference materials or standards used in their development, as well as secondary antibodies (conjugates) detection. • 30. ATPAnd Creatine ATPAs The Energy Currency Of Life Energy System What is ATP? ATP is often referred to as the energy currency of life. The body s cells use a special form of energy called adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to power almost all their activities, such as muscle contraction, protein construction, transportation of substrates, communication with other cells, activating heat control mechanisms, and dismantling damaged and unused structures. It is the high energy molecule that stores the energy we need to do have for just about everything we do. It is present in the cytoplasm and nucleoplasm of every cell, and essentially all the physiological mechanisms that require energy for operation obtain it directly from the stored ATP. Whether it s during a 26 mile marathon run or one explosive movement like a tennis serve, skeletal muscle is powered by one and only one compound, adenosine triphosphate (ATP) . However, the body stores only a small quantity of this energy currency within the cells and its enough to power just a few seconds of all out exercise for example a a explosive movement in a football match. Phosphocreatine: Amount of ATP produced ATP and creatine phosphate (or phosphocreatine, or PCr) make up the ATP PCr system. it is the immediate energy system. Creatine phosphate (PCr) is a high energy compound. When exercise intensity is high, or energy needs are instantaneous, creatine phosphate stored in muscle is broken down to provide energy to make ATP. When the high energy bond in PCr is broken, the energy it releases is used to resynthesise ATP. Sports The muscles use the phosphocreatine energy system, also known as the anaerobic alactic system, during the first 10 seconds of sustained muscle contraction. It is anaerobic because it doesn t require oxygen to function. The energy system that powers muscle contraction uses ATP adenosine triphosphate. Recovery time Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) stores in the muscle last for approximately 2 seconds and the rest of ATP from Creatine Phosphate (CP) will continue until CP stores in the muscles are depleted, approximately 4 to 6 seconds. This gives us around 5 to 8 seconds of ATP production. Anaerobic System: Amount of ATP produced The anaerobic glycolytic system produces a lot of power, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The foreground consists of two men standing on a jetty that has a pole like wooden structure standing on it; the two men appear to be conversing, probably about the storm. The painting is asymmetrical because if you cut it down the middle vertically then one side would have the wooden pole, most of the jetty and the two men in it, while the other side would have virtually nothing except some distant (almost obscure) sailboats, part of the jetty and a distant smaller jetty. The painting is unified by its theme: A stormy sea by a jetty. The waves are painted so as to show them crashing into one another by painting the caps white and using bold curves to emphasize the choppiness of the sea. The dark clouds in the background are a testament to the severity of the storm. The emphasis is on the jetty and men in the foreground. At the start of Act I, Scene III of the opera, there is a festive peasant wedding, an ensemble between the bride, Zerlina, the groom, Masetto, and the chorus, which consists of the other peasants, all singing about the joys of marriage. Don Giovanni, a nobleman, and his manservant, Leporello, interrupts the wedding, and invites everyone to his villa. He even forces Masetto to go the villa too, leaving Zerlina alone with Don Giovanni. Before leaving, Masetto protests, but understands that he has no control over the situation. Then, Masetto sings an aria, Ho Capito, which means I understand, before leaving. Alone with Zerlina, in recitative, Don Giovanni tries to seduce her and promises to marry her. • 43. Heart Of Darkness Vs Apocalypse Now Essay Apocalypse Now vs. Heart of Darkness A Scene Analysis We never realize how important something is to us until it s lost, and the characters in both Apocalypse Now and Heart of Darkness are no exception. Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad is a novel about a character named Marlow, who is on a ship along with a sea crew. He shares his adventures in Africa as his curiosity about the man named Kurtz motivates him to search for him. Captain Willard is a soldier part of the U.S. forces sent to search Vietnam to search for Kurtz, a man who has gone rogue from the army and kept himself hidden from others, and execute him. Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now both illustrate a similar scene, the helmsman s death along with Clean s and Chief s death in respective stories, as well as deviate from each other while retaining identical meanings that bring together an underlying message between these two stories. Nihilism and Existentialism in Cormac McCarthy s The Crossing Nihilism and Existentialism in Cormac McCarthy s The Crossing Cormac McCarthy s second book in The Border Trilogy offers an impressive array of worldviews all competing together in the larger narrative framework of the novel. These are not only expressed through the life of the protagonist Billy Parham and his brother Boyd, but also in the narratives of the many people they encounter on their horseback journeys through the hot desert sands of Mexico. Critic Robert L. In his encyclopedic entry Nihilism, Dr. Alan Pratt, professor of Humanities at Embry Riddle University, points to the passage in Shakespeare s Macbeth when she goes into her soliloquy about the futility of life to demonstrate the stance of the existential nihilist in classic literature: Out, out, brief candle! Life s but a walking shadow, a poor player That struts and frets his hour upon the stage And then is heard no more; it is a tale Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing. (Qtd. in Pratt, para. 12.) Other well known motifs that express the existential nihilist s perspective of life include the Greek tale of Sisyphus, first noted by novelist Albert Camus in his 1942 book The Myth of Sisyphus. Sisyphus was a cruel king in Corinth who was condemned to spend eternity rolling a huge boulder up a mountain, knowing full well that once he reached the top it would again only come rumbling back down, yet he shouldered his burden again and again, faithfully trudging back up the mountainside in compliance with his fate. • 50. The Civil War And The 19th Century Essay The 19th century was one of the most troubling times in human history. Things like the civil war, child labor and even slavery helped shape the literary culture from 1850 1900. The civil war was a war fought between the Northern and Southern States in the United States of America. Among the 34 states in January 1861, seven Southern slave states individually declared their secession from the United States of America and formed the Confederate States of America. The first state to secede was south carolina after the election of president lincoln in 1860. After South Carolina seceded, the cotton states of Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas followed, seceding in January and February 1861. Union and Confederate leadership and fighting soldiers on both sides believed that slavery caused the Civil War. Union men mainly believed the war was to emancipate the slaves. Confederates fought to protect southern society, and slavery as a part of it. Sectionalism refers to the different economies, social structure, culture and customs and values of the North and South. While the south based their economy off of slave labor and plantation agriculture, the North was urbanizing, industrializing and had feigned slavery out of existence. Southern slaveholding states, because of their low cost labor, had little need for industrialization. While the North highly invested in its industrialization, could not compete with the industries of Europe in offering high prices ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, is an allegory that connects the boys behavior in the novel to the basic behavior of human nature. In the novel, the boys fear a wild beast that has the potential to kill them off. However, Simon, a quiet boy, finds that the beast is not an animal that everyone should fear, but is a part of each boy himself. As Simon wanders back to a beautiful meadow that he had traveled to before, he finds that it has changed. Instead of the peaceful meadow that Simon had discovered previously, the bloody head of a sow impaled by Jack and his follows taints the meadow. (Golding 144). Simon, in shock of what the Lord of the Flies says to him, knew that one of his times was coming on (Golding 143). His emotional distress triggers his body to lose all consciousness. The encounter with the Lord of the Flies supports Simon s thoughts that the beast that the boys are hunting for is not an actual animal. The Lord of the Flies tries to persuade Simon to let go of his rational thoughts and be taken over by his primal instincts in order to have fun like the other boys. However, when Simon s silence declares that he refuses to let go of logic and rationality, the Lord of the Flies realizes that Simon knows what the beast really is the innermost part of the boys. Simon seems to make this connection that the Lord of the Flies is representational to the inner beast within the boys almost instantly. His gaze was held by that ancient, inescapable recognition (Golding 139). Simon instantly The Lord of the Flies quickly makes the connection, too. You knew, didn t you? I m part of you? Close, close, close! I m the reason why it s no go? Why things are what they are? (Golding, 1 ). The Lord of the Flies is symbolic to all the evil that is in humans.
