Unique In My Life
I like to observe people. I often make mistakes while doing it and then get myself into very
uncomfortable situations that could be prevented. I am clumsy. People often ask me how can I be a pre
professional ballet dancer and still be so clumsy. I am the product of my changing environment.
Shaped by the masses, shaped by languages, shaped by the stars. Once someone said to me: Chaos
before the star . There needs to be chaos for something beautiful to happen. Molecular clouds of
interstellar gases and dust binding at freezing temperatures, and then a star emerges from the chaos. If
I could get one dollar for every time I have embarrassed myself, I would probably be living another
life accompanied by those very expensive dogs. But, if I could get one dollar for everytime that those
embarrassments have turned into beautiful disasters, I would only be able to buy a handful of things at
a dollar store. Those events are quite unique. Unique as in for that one day that my mother hit her head
on the windshield while sneezing, which by the way was hilarious. Unique as the inspiring songs
about turtles, unique as every broken heart, uniques as you, and also as unique as the day that my life
changed.
The engines of the plane could just be described as huge. I remember having the sensation of going to
another planet. I should have known that in many ways, I actually was. Everything kept getting back
to me, my past, my inference of the future and all the goodbyes. Every single one of

Ovid s Metamorphoses
What can be sweeter than a mother s unconditional love? In most nuclear families, the family
members interact with each other to support and construct a home with values of love and prosperity.
However, not every home can be categorized as loving and bountiful as certain circumstances can
cause an unfortunate crisis that impacts family members to change how they perceive one another.
Revenge, being an approach to handle some circumstances, is a very common topic in Greek
mythology which, leads the characters to take justice into their own hands by any means necessary to
restore their honor. In Ovid s poem the Metamorphoses, tales of grandeur and unpleasant fates are
retold in sequence, revealing heroic people, lessons, and origins from stories ... Show more content on

In the tale Tereus, Procne, and Philomela , Tereus betrays Procne by raping and then mutilating the
tongue of her sister, Philomela, causing Procne to seek revenge from Tereus. Although her method of
revenge consists of killing her son Itys and feeding his flesh to Tereus, the sisters reach their end when
Philomela becomes a swallow and Procne becomes a nightingale. Sacrificing Itys was not an easy task
for Procne as her excess of maternal love (216) in which, Ovid intentionally phrases it with excess , to
augment her compassion for him that softens the reader s heart and makes the act of her killing him
much more moving. However, her mood quickly changes from ... her unwilling eyes were suddenly
full of hot tears that she could not control...felt her sense of purpose falter... (216) to ...[Itys] cries out
Mother! reaching for her neck, as Procne drives the blade into his side and does not turn away (217)
Ovid s purpose of using the word and phrase unwilling and does not turn away is to describe her
conflicting feelings of humanity towards Itys as she experiences brief inner turmoil by debating on
sacrificing him though, that does not stop her for what she feels is necessary to do as he looks at him
in the eyes while committing the dreadful deed. As mentioned earlier, one might argue and say that

Alzheimer s The Dsm 5
Alzheimer s in DSM What was previously known in the fourth edition of the Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual as dementia is now known in the DSM 5 as major neurocognitive disorder, with the
lower degrees of impaired cognition are now found under mild neurocognitive disorder. The latter
category was found in previous editions of the DSM as Cognitive Disorder Not Otherwise Specified.
(American Psychiatric Association, 2013) Regardless of the new titles and categories in the DSM 5,
dementia is referred to throughout the text for the state of standardization and continuity between
clinicians and physicians. The reasoning for this change to neurocognitive disorders refers to dementia
typically being the title of degenerative disorders given to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The general diagnostic criteria for major neurocognitive disorder is as follows, as reported by the
American Psychiatric Association (2013). There must be a a decrease in cognitive performance from
at least one cognitive domain, including complex attention, executive function, learning and memory,
language, perceptual motor, or social cognition. This must be supported by evidence of concern
regarding significant cognitive decline by the individual, their loved ones, or their clinician as well as
a quantified clinical assessment, such as a standardized neuropsychological test, reporting a significant
decline in cognition (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). These significant cognitive declines
must show a decline in independence through typical day to day activities such as needing help in
remembering to pay bills or keeping up with medications. Lastly, this cognitive decline are not
occurring as a result of delirium only and are not better evidenced as a mental disorder such as major
depressive disorder or schizophrenia. (American Psychiatric Association, 2013) The second specifier
for this disorder, with the first in this instance being major cognitive disorder due to Alzheimer s
disease, is in relation to whether or not there is a behavioral disturbance present. Examples of these
potential disturbances include psychotic symptoms, mood

Theme Of Masculinity In The Lais Of Marie De France
Masculinity is represented in various ways within The Lais of Marie de France. Masculinity is
sometimes depicted in untraditional ways through animal representation, the dominance of women,
and in negative a light through the prideful and selfish acts of the male characters. The qualities,
which are often seen as manly, are quite apparent in an animalistic form of masculinity in the deer in
Guigemar, in comparison to the female lover. The women in Lanval show a sense of manhood in their
authority and power over the situations of the story. Les Deus Amanz tells a poignant story of two
men, and how their over masculine traits of pride, jealousy, and possessiveness lead them to the exact
places in which they were avoiding all along. All ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is represented here when the king, ...entered the queen s apartments and when she saw him, she
complained aloud, fell at his feet, cried for mercy and said that Lanval had shamed her (77). After the
queen offers herself and attempts to throw herself at Lanval, he denies her because of his new fairy
like lover. Once the king walks in the queen victimizes herself as soon as she sets eyes on him. Her
ability to completely transform herself at the sight of her husband and manipulate his thoughts to her
favor shows the power of women. In showing her weakness by falling to her feet and putting herself in
a vulnerable position, she is ultimately taking the power into her own hands. With his wife in this
state, the king feels an obligation to protect her by punishing whoever did her wrong. In reaction to the
queen s account of what Lanval has done, The king grew very angry and swore on oath that, if Lanval
could not defend himself in court, he would have him burned or hanged (77). This is a significant act
because it displays the control a woman has in a relationship, It also demonstrates how a dominant
feminist character influences her male counterpart s masculinity and gives it purpose within a

My Personal Statement On My Interview Essay
The person I used to conduct my interview was my step mom, Chris Howell. We are very close to one
another, and she has been with my dad since I was 4. I would consider her my mom not my step mom.
Since she lives 4 hours away, I was unable to meet with her in person for the interview so a phone call
was necessary. She s a very outgoing person, who is great at making conversation and telling stories.
Even though it would have been more ideal to meet in person to conduct the interview, the phone call
still felt natural and helpful. A few times over the course of the interview it was hard to hear what she
had said. I did not want to interrupt her, so I missed a few details. Overall, it went very well, and it
lasted the perfect amount of time. Since I am her daughter and already know key characteristics about
her life, she felt comfortable sharing with me. Even when talking about her ex husband, she did not
hold back. To begin, Christine Howell was born January 12th 1958 in Williamsport, PA. The
Susquehanna River flows through Williamsport, and Williamsport is a very manufacturing and
industry based place. It was the lumbering capital of world in the 1800s. As a result, there are a lot of
beautiful homes of all styles. She grew up in a beautiful 6 bedroom Victorian home that had 10 feet
ceilings, a huge staircase, and pocket doors. She is the 2nd oldest with 4 sisters and 1 brother. She

Egypt And Greek Comparison Essay
The development of civilizations was the key factor in advancing society, advancements that disposed
of the idea of a hunter gather society. The ancient Egyptians and the Greeks are known for
contributing the most towards civilization. However, each possessed similar and different qualities
that came together to help shape our world today.
The Egyptian civilization was very fortunate in terms that their environment was very dependable
unlike Greece. The annual flooding of the Nile river renewed the soil and brought about fertile black
soil that in turn resulted in them being the richest agricultural region. Egyptians figured out that the
land beyond the river was inhabitable and the environment was not dependable. Realizing this they
built their civilization around the Nile river and used the flooding to their advantage. However, unlike
the Egyptians who settled around the river the Greeks built many cities upon mountain strongholds.
For example, acropolis of Athens is known for being the fortified palace on top of the mountain.
Like many early civilizations, both the Egyptians and Greeks had a social pyramid that didn t give
much freedom to the people. In Egypt, the Pharaoh his family were known as completely apart from
everyone else. There was the small majority of nobles who served priests and also the elite who were
below the pharaoh and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

However, each had their issues and developed different ideals and religious beliefs that helped to set

civilizations had a lasting effect that brought about many simple things we disregard

Who Is Julius Caesar Noble
Kaydee Cappa The Noblest Man of Them All In the play Julius Caesar, Brutus is claimed to be the
tragic hero or, a virtuous character in a dramatic tragedy that is set up from the beginning for downfall,
suffering or defeat in the end. This is because of the way he cared for everyone and how he avoided
betrayal and deceitfulness at all costs. But because of his optimistic outlook on everyone, this
ultimately leads to his death. Throughout the play, he was completely oblivious to those who are using
or betraying him. Brutus was well liked, looked up to and widely recognized as being noble. He cared
more for others than he did for himself, and everything he did was for the good of someone else.
Despite killing Antony s best friend, Julius Caesar, Antony still declared him the noblest man of them
all (Act 5, Scene 5). One of the main ways that Brutus showed that he cared for everyone, was when
he prevented disloyalty and always thought of others first. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Tell-Tale Heart Confession
Have you ever had urge to confess something that bothered you so much that it led you to insanity?
Probably not, but most americans have had this issue in that past. The narrator in The Tell Tale Heart
had the same exact same problem during his span as a butler. The Tell Tale Heart is a short story
composed about a butler that murders his master because he didn t liked the way his master s eye
looked when it was open. The meaning of the title The Tell Tale Heart , means that every heart has a
tale to tell. At the ending of the story the narrator openly admits that he killed his master to police
officers because he claims that he could hear the heartbeat of his deceased corrs. The narrator
confessed his crime for three reasons which were: he was insane, he could not deal with the heartbeat,
and he wanted to noise to go away. The first reason for the narrators confession was insane. Edgar
Allan Poe quotes I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity (Poe). Poe means by this
quote that things that he saw in the world while he was not crazy mad him insane. After the police
came into the the narrators master s, the narrator began chatting with them while standing on top of
the floorboards where he hid his master s body. The narrator began to hear the heartbeat of the dead
body while he was talking to the police officers. The officers began to laugh loudly with each other
and the narrator thought they were mocking him because he thought they knew about the murder

Next to corn, rice is the most common grain in Mexican cuisine. Mexican food varies by region,

Catherine De Medici Influence On Ballet
Ballet is a formalized and elegant form of dance with a fitting origin that traces back to Italian
Renaissance courts during the 15th and 16th centuries. This style of dance quickly spread from Italy to
France with the assistance of the aristocratic influence that came from Catherine de Medici, who
succeeded in helping ballet develop even further. For example, Catherine helped develop ballet further
by having her own piece of work, Le Paradis d Amour , be presented at her daughters wedding, where
Marguerite de Valois was wedded to Henry of Navarre. Naturally, with ballet having an aristocratic
background, aristocratic money was responsible for the dance styles initial stages of development in
court ballet. Royalty was what dictated the literature, music, and ideas that was incorporated into
ballet at the time. Ballet was also used as a prime source of entertainment for aristocrats. ... Show

Will There Be A Ww2 Essay
Will there be a WWIII? Most likely not. Countries from around the world are trying to prevent this
from happening, because if we have a WWIII, we would be our own demise. First off, There are so
many nuclear warheads in the world, that we could blow up the whole earth. As it says in this article,
from a scientist/mathematician There are an estimated total of 20,500 nuclear warheads in the world
today. If the average power of these devices is 33,500 Kilotons, there are enough to destroy the total
earth landmass. For comparison, the largest bomb ever detonated was 50 megatons or

Maybe the terrorists want it though. They seem to like mass destruction. Heres another fact: It would
only take a couple bombs to destroy the US. This is not even counting wind carrying radioactive dirt
and dust miles away. If a bomb was dropped in the UK, people on the east coast of the US could suffer
radiation poisoning. Secondly, thermonuclear bombs, or hydrogen bombs, work by using the energy of
a fission bomb to compress and heat fusion fuel. This means that it has incredible nuclear fallout, and
if only a few were dropped, we would go into nuclear winter, no crops would grow, and everything
would die. Even if they were dropped in the same place at the same time on the other side of the
world, the nuclear winter would engulf the world in a shade, essentially turning it into a giant
snowball and causing another ice age. Going back to the question on the table, will there be a WWIII?
Maybe, if North Korea makes a big mistake. The USA cannot nuke North Korea because some of the
fallout would land onto China, South Korea, and Russia. We do not want to go to war with Russia,
neither China. If we go to war with Russia, then the world ends, if we go to war with China, its allies
would join in and our allies would join in and the world would end. The geography of North Korea is
perfect for them because we would have to resort to foot combat and carpet bombing, which is not
preferable. If we

The Gillette s Vice Of The Disposable Crown Cork Bottle Cap
King Camp Gillette was born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin in 1855. At the early age of 16 he became a
traveling salesman where he met William Painter, the inventor of the disposable Crown Cork bottle
cap. This friendship ignited Gillette s passion for invention and entrepreneurship. In 1895 he had an
idea of a disposable razor blade. The problem was how to make the blades thin enough and at a price
low enough to be profitable. Then in 1901 Gillette met an MIT graduate by the name of William
Nickerson and the idea and dream became a reality. The Gillette Safety Razor Company began making
safety razors and blades.
The company offered a new product, safety razors and blades, a product of convenience at a
reasonable price. Gillette had a few lean years to establish a customer base. To attract new customers
Gillette tried advertising by putting his face stamped on the thin razor blades, and then gave away the
razor as a free gift. The razor was useless without the blades. The marketing gimmick of FREE
worked! Gillette gave free razors that then created a demand for the blades. Gillette sold razors in bulk
at discounted prices to banks so they could use them as give away when you opened an account, the
Shave and Save campaigns were huge success. Gillette took it even further when he then sold to the
Wrigley s gum company; packets of coffee, tea, spices, and marshmallows. Gillette sold millions of
razors at steep discount to the Army hoping the habits soldiers developed at war

Parkinson s Disease As A Medical Condition
Parkinson s disease is one of the few diseases that have been around since ancient times. In the ancient
Indian medical system of Ayurveda this disease was referred to as Kampavata. In AD 175 the
physician, Galen of the western medical literature referred Parkinson s disease as shaking palsy . It
was not until 1817 that a detailed medical essay was published on the subject by London doctor,
James Parkinson. The publication was titled An Essay on the Shaking Palsy . This officially

The Power Of Power In My Last Duchess By Robert Browning
In several countries tyrants abuse their power for their own benefit. Many people must obey these
cruel rulers or be punished if they disobey. People must live in fear because of these tyrants, who use
their power for their own satisfaction. In My Last Duchess the Duke of Ferrara uses his power to
control his subjects, and kills his wife because of the way she acts around other men. From beginning
to end My Last Duchess by Robert Browning displays the corrupt power of the domestic tyrant, his
arrogance, jealousy, and the ruthlessness.
To begin, the Duke is displayed to be a corrupt leader. His tyrannical ways and ideas of solving
problems in his life are preposterous. The Duke is enraged that his wife shows flirtatious expressions
to other men that show kindness towards her. The Duchess is killed because the Duke becomes
frustrated with her actions This grew; I gave commands; Then all smiles stopped together (Browning
line 45 46). This portrays the Duke s tyrannical ways, he demands her to stop, but she ignores him,
therefore the Duke decides to kill his wife. According to Robert Reese, The Duchess smiles to the
other men aroused an anger in the Duke so powerful that he gave commands to have her killed . The
Duke of Ferrara considers himself superior to others and above laws and morality. He feels he can do
anything he desires without serving any sort of punishment. The Duke does indeed have an enormous

The Rise in Youth Homelessness in Canada Essay
Today in Canada, a rise in youth homelessness is being observed across the country. Despite common
assumptions, the issue of street youth is not isolated to Toronto or Montreal, but has become pervasive
across the country. Although accurate statistics are impossible to come by, the disturbing reality is that
both urban centers and rural communities nationwide, are struggling to provide their youth with
adequate, affordable housing. Issues surrounding the supply and affordability of housing, combined
with personal circumstances characterized by instability, are distancing youth s access to housing.
These causes and their overall consequences, must be faced before lasting solutions can be shaped by
society. Housing Canada s street youth will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of these youth have been raised in foster homes and other environments lacking the social, and
often economic stability, necessary for seamless transitions into society and the workforce. Over 15%
of homeless youth reported their families as having suffered from homelessness at some point.
Physical and sexual abuse is often extremely prevalent among street youth. A study conducted in
Toronto indicated that more than 70% of homeless youth had left home due to physical or sexual
abuse. Finally, homeless youth tend to be characterized by their lack of resources and job readiness. In
2003, over 35% of Canadian street youth reported that they had dropped out of high school, or had
been permanently expelled. These social causes only serve to perpetuate homelessness from the
economic side.
According to former NDP leader Jack Layton (Layton 2008: xix), the economic causes of youth
homelessness can be summarized by stating that homelessness is an issue of both supply and
affordability . Looking specifically at Atlantic Canada, affordable housing is a primary concern for
those tacking homelessness. According to Layton, In New Brunswick, where poverty is an issue, few
new subsidized housing units have been built in the last 10 years, and there is no supportive housing.
The poor condition of the existing housing stock contributes to youth

Examples Of Free Will In The Knight s Tale

English 12
18 November 2014
The Canterbury Tales Literary Analysis:
Fate vs. Free Will One of the most controversial questions within the philosophical spectrum is
whether a situations outcome is based on fate or free will. Geoffrey Chaucer examines both sides of
the argument in The Knight s Tale , which is only a small portion of The Canterbury Tales. The tale
centered itself around two men, Arcite and Palamon, who fell madly in love with the same woman,
Emily. They were both forced to overcome major obstacles in their paths just to be near her. Yet, in the
end, they faced the greatest challenge. Arcite and Palamon, once the best of friends, became the most
bitter of enemies, as they fought to determine who would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As referenced in the previous paragraph, Arcite even fell victim to the lover s sickness of Eros.
(Chaucer 5) The author takes the extra step to describe its symptoms to the readers, in such detail that
Arcite could almost be seen in his weakened state. Those included an unhealthy, gaunt appearance,
sunken eyes, and extreme paleness. Another example can be seen in the layout of the amphitheater,
which was created by King Theseus to make a spectacle out of the last battle. It is interesting to note
that a man would go to such great lengths to create the most out of a seemingly meaningless series of
events. Regardless, the amphitheater was very extravagant. Near the gate, stood three temples devoted
to the gods, each of which were finely decorated with high quality materials. First there was Venus,
the goddess of love, then there was Mars, the god of war, and lastly there was Diana, the goddess of
chastity. The third and final example of imagery that can be seen within the tale is the emphasis on
Arcite and Palamon, specifically their individual styles of fighting. Both men were compared to
animals in this sense. According to the text you might judge that Palamon in his fighting were a mad
lion and Arcite a cruel tiger. (Chaucer 7) Later on, King

The Effects Of Radioactive Wastes On The Environment
Introduction
Radiation in the environment is widespread and a necessary process for the existence of life. We
encounter it from natural sources like rocks, soils and the sun1,2 and from modern technology such as
computed tomography better known as CT scan, and nuclear power plants. Radiation from sunlight is
essential but too much of it can be harmful, just as the use of radiation in CT scans. Computed
tomography can provide lifesaving information about disease but in high doses can also cause disease.

One of the topics that every so often pops up in the news is radioactive waste management and
protecting the public against the hazards of radioactive waste from power plants and other facilities
that produce radioactive waste. People ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Background, Origin and Threats
The nuclear age began on those faithful days in August 1945 when the United States dropped two
atomic bombs, one in Hiroshima and the other in Nagasaki, Japan bringing an end to the Second
World War. With this new age also came about the United Nations (UN), which established the UN
Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) so they can address any concerns and problems that would come
from the atomic energy breakthrough.3 In 1953, President Dwight D. Eisenhower addressed the world
and spoke about Atoms for Peace and in 1957 this led to the establishment of the International Atomic
Energy Agency (IAEA).3
In 1946 the US Congress established the Atomic Energy Act of 1946 and was regulated by the Atomic
Energy Commission. 3,4 This was later replaced by the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 that led to the
development and use of nuclear power commercially. 5 Currently there are approximately 439 nuclear
reactors that produce about 16 percent of the electricity around the world, and nine countries get over
40 percent of their energy from nuclear power production. 3
Once the IAEA was created its mission was to safeguard the international community by ensuring that
nuclear power was used in a safe and peaceful manner. In

The Borough Of Brooklyn
Our next adventure was Brooklyn, NY. Although this borough was just a 20 minute train ride away I
never really had many opportunities to visit it. I was excited to visit the borough because growing up I
always heard that it had the best food in all of New York City. The borough is also known as Kings
County and is home to nearly three million people. This makes Brooklyn the second most populous
boroughs in New York. It is said that if the Borough were an independent city it would be the third
most populous city in the U.S. (191). The Dutch occupied Brooklyn in 1634 and till this day the area
has found to still have a huge amount of Dutch influence in architecture. However, in 1664 the British
had later conquered what had been developing into the New Netherlands. The British later recognized
it as the Providence of New York and named the borough after King Charles II (192). Our first stop in
the borough of Brooklyn was Coney Island. I have never visited the area before and was excited that
after 20 years of living in New York City I was able to visit the seaside community. Coney island was
once an island adjacent to Kings County. However, what was once small creek that separated island
from the mainland was later connected by landfill creating a peninsula. It had received its name from
when the Dutch settled into the land. It was called the island Conyne Eylandt or the Rabbit Island
since it is shaped like a rabbits foot. The area is known for its seaside resorts

Sumer Research Paper
Sumer was a very prosperous country. They had enormous amounts of money and natural resources,
but they had one problem politically. They were divided into multiple city states spread throughout
their region of land. City states are cities that are also separate, independent states. These multiple city
states fought with each other for many years over land and use of river water and had been conquered
twice.
The first time they were conquered, they were conquered by Sargon the Great of neighboring Akkad
around two thousand three hundred B.C.. Sargon the Great of Akkad once ruled the city state of Kish.
He was an Akkadian, a Semitic group of desert nomads who eventually settled in Mesopotamia just
north of Sumer. He conquered the Sumerians ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But eventually all good things must come to an end. After one hundred years of peace the city states
dissolved again and they no longer were a major power after two thousand B.C.. Now, they were
defenseless and open to attack so King Hammurabi of their northern rival Babylonia took over in the
seventeen thousands B.C.. King Hammurabi called his new empire the Babylonian Empire. He created
and ruled this empire from seventeen eighty seven B.C. to seventeen fifty B.C.He did this by
conquering the city states of Sumer and lands far north.During his time period of rule he created roads
which made travel easier so in turn this encouraged trade. Babylonians location made it a crossroad of
trade so if caverns were making their way to Sumer or Assyria they would stop by the bazaars to trade
things. All this trade made them very rich. Agriculture also made them very rich. King Hammurabi
also made the beautiful city of Babylon the center of Babylonian, but his main accomplishment was
his code or a organized list of laws. His code was made to settle conflicts in all areas of life. Now,
keep in mind it was not fair because the punishment would depended on the rank of the victim and the
lawbreaker. So if you were a commoner and you stole a slaves spoon you might have to return it and
give the slave some money, but if it were a noble you stole the spoon from, you might get killed. Even
if you broke the law by accident you would still have to pay the price. This code

The Consequences Of Designer Babies
There are sometimes immediate or later consequences as a result of an action. Therefore, with the
creation of designer babies, it may lead to major or minor changes. What may happen in the present,
may impact the future. An important concern was that genetic screening and modification could be
used as the tools of new eugenics, a popular theory during the early twentieth century that sought to
remove from the population traits labeled undesirable (Lerner, 2012, para. 10). The main purpose of
designer babies was to create healthier and improved babies, but it may lead to disparity in health.
People who did not undergo this procedure will not be on the same level to those who did; thus, may
lead to discrimination of non designer babies. Therefore,

Abortion Debate Analysis
The argument of legalizing abortion has been spread out over society like a wild fire on a dry summer
day, but there are five points that are constantly being hit, legal precedence, birth control issues,
human rights, religion, and when life begins. Based on both moral and empirical claims, this issue has
reached to the public on whether or not abortion should be legalized. As both advocate groups define
this issue on its constitutionality and moral views, it is represented by their constituents, political
figures view this issue as a party line, Pro life conservatives and Pro choice liberals. While the media

of when they believe aborting a fetus is morally right and wrong and the morally wrong thing to do is
abort a fetus that is able to live on its own. According to Dr. Shuman and WebMD a fetus can live on
its own after twenty two weeks, or five and a half months into pregnancy. While this gives the women

Examples Of Conflict In Tell Tale Heart
The conflict in Edgar Allan Poe s Tell Tale Heart is man versus himself. In the first lines of the story,
the speaker talks directly to the reader where he tries to convince the reader that he is not insane.
However, we discover that he is mentally ill as we read more of the story. The character speaks against
his purpose of pleading as mentally healthy. Ironically, his own speech convicts him. Therefore, it can
be concluded that the narrator is on a mind battle with his own conscience. The narrator s background
is a mystery to the reader but his characteristics were evidently presented on his way of narration. All
the obsessive details and the whole elaborate plan the man narrated was enough evidence to confirm
the reader that he is truly out of his mind. The narrator is obsessive, paranoid, and insane and these
characteristics are the problems which led to the conflict. His too much thinking attitude was his own
protagonist in the story. There is this eye which became the narrator s object of obsession. Whenever
he sees the old man, he doesn t see the old man as a whole but sees the evil eye . In ... Show more

possess a heart. He doesn t have the passionate sense of humanity that would guide him to use his wit

a tool for evilness. So, what the author wants to say is that intelligence is not enough to make up a
human being. One must have a heart which directs the head. This story entitled Tell Tale Heart is not
only about the beating heart which led the main character to reveal his own doing but the heart also
pertains to what is missing from him, a heart. Moreover, the story tells us that our conscience will

Coral Ocean Trade
Summary:
The international trade in corals today mainly focuses on live corals for the marine reef aquarium
trade. The purpose of this study is to understand the overall trends over time (in this instance, 21 years
between 1990 2010) as coral species enter the trade and become more commercially popular. Another
reason was to assess the impact that increased aquaculture production of corals has on the trade, and
predict how changes in the trade of live corals may impact coral reef ecosystems. Trade increased over
8% per year between 1990 to mid 2000s, and then decreased by 9% each year. The aquarium and trade
for corals is associated with positive and negative impacts to ecosystems and societies. The timing of

Organizational Leadership Paper
Organizational Leadership
Description of Organizational Leadership
Organizational leadership is a twofold management style that works towards what is best for
employees/ people and what is greatest for the company or group as a whole at the same time. It is
also a mind set and a work ethic that empowers an individual in any role to lead from the top, middle,
or bottom of an organization (Technologies, 2017).
Key Factors During my research for this paper I learned that there are five key Factors of
organizational leadership which are, Worldview, Strength, communication, ethics and leadership.
Worldview is a complex image created from the different ways which people view the world. It is not
focused on identity, political stance, or religious viewpoints, although it does include these
(Technologies, 2017). This compiles everything a person thinks about the world, joining together the
real and the indefinable. Worldview can be described by attitudes, opinions, beliefs, and ideas that
influence people. Additionally, organizational leadership requires an understanding of the combined
worldview of the organization, which consists of the many various and sometimes conflicting
worldviews of the people within that organization (Technologies, 2017). A great leader is someone
who can see the strength in others and themselves and use those strengths to their advantage, and at
the same time work around weaknesses. Strength can be defined as consistent, near perfect
performance in an activity. A person should perform an activity at approximately a 95% rate of ...

Football inspires people in many different ways. It can help them achieve a goal, finish school, have a
sense of belonging, and even bring a community together. These are the key elements that Boaz Yakin,
director of Remember the Titans, and John Lee Hancock, director of The Blind Side, thought of when
they popularized their stories into films. While you can find both movies in the Drama/ Sport section,
each of the movies has their unique qualities that draw us into the real life stories of these young men.
Roger Ebert, movie critic, who reviewed Remember the Titans, stated, Real life is never simple, but

You can see this happen when Michael is interviewed as to why he made his school decision. The

Similarly in The Blind Side, racial discrimination is one of the major themes that the movie addresses.
While in a different time period, the same treatment is shown to main character, Michael. The setting
being in the south, creates a different dimension of racial discrimination that is stereotypical of the
southern united states. Coupled with racial discrimination is the theme of the kindness of family. This

Terracotta VPN Helps APT Groups Launch Attacks Around the World
Terracotta is a VPN network of over 1500 VPN nodes around the world. The Chinese based VPN
service provider has obtained their VPN nodes illegally by hacking into unsuspecting companies that

What is unique about the Terracotta attacks is that no one suspects a school would be responsible for

Conventions related to Prime Minister:
The law does not say anything about how a Prime Minister should be chosen similarly the law does
not require a Prime Minster to be appointed. However the law says that the Monarch may take on or
discharge ministers at her own satisfaction.
On the other hand, conventions believe that the monarch has to request one person to be the Prime
Minister and head a government.
Every Prime Mister has to be a member of both House of Commons and House of Lords. Prime
Ministers in the House of Commons are elected by the public on the other hand the House of Lords
are hereditary peers. http://cms.gcg11.ac.in/attachments/article/259/CONVENTION.pdf

Postmodernism Of The Rocky Horror Picture Show

ENG 195
1 November 2016
Postmodernism of The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) The Rocky Horror Picture Show , directed
by Jim Chapman, is a campy comedy musical set in a horror and science fiction themed castle in
which sexuality and hilarity run rampant. The film, closely based on a stage production, hit theaters in
1975 and continued to rule the midnight film scene, becoming a cult classic. By using homage and
allusion to science fiction and horror B films, lambasting sexual identity and gender normality, and
employing a self referential universe, The Rocky Horror Picture Show stands as a strong
representation of 1970 s postmodernism in film. The Rocky Horror Picture Show opens with the, now
iconic, disembodied set of red lips singing Science Fiction/Double Feature . The song is a nostalgia
trip through time as it references everything thing from Flash Gordon s underwear to reminding us
who stars in Forbidden Planet. The setting of the film its self is a spooky manor and set piece that is
almost identical to the sets from Hammer Film Productions such as The Curse of Frankenstein
(Terence Fisher, 1957) and the remake of The Old Dark House (William Castle, 1963). When we first

The Public Schooling System During The United States
When looking at the history of America, it is fascinating to see how the public schooling system even
got started. The first schools in America were not public schools, as many would presume. Instead, the
first schools in the United States were religious and not secular (Elifson 1). Nearly all public schools,
up to the 1960 s incorporated religion and prayer in their classrooms; however, in the last 50 years,
prayer and religion in public schools has been debated over countless times. Even in Hudsonville,
Michigan, which holds the record in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the most

religion, in the public schools. When I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Samuel Ayers and Shelly Reid are two educators at schools in Texas and they agree with this
statement. They argue constantly in their article that religions are essential in teaching social studies.
Reid and Ayers contend that, [the] very faces of Europe and Africa were changed as Muslims and
Christians battled over lands during the Middle Ages (2). They also state that in other countries, entire
social systems are based on religious beliefs (2). Consequently, this points to the fact that religion, in
its entirety, is immensely important in teaching students the history of nations and many social
systems that nations uphold. Reid and Ayers have proven that after receiving the knowledge of
religion in some countries and understanding why their respective religions were important to them,
[students] achieved a deeper understanding of many current events, [especially] those involving the
Middle East (Ayers and Reid 2). It is perfectly clear that in many circumstances, knowing the religious
background of a nation will help enlighten the students to better understand why some nations hold a
particular stance on a given matter (Ayers and Reid 1 3).
Another author, Rob Boston, talks about this subject in less detail. He argues that legitimate
instruction about religion as an academic subject in public schools [is not] a problem. As long

how these similar works are obviously created by different artists who lived in diverse countries with
similar ideologies; to obtain eternal bless for ones self. Thus, the artists perceived this bless in their

idolized their gods with sculptures and figurines.

Essay on Padres and Indians
One of the things which largely go unrecognized is how vital the missions were to the military in
California in the 19th century. Since the military in California received little to no support during the
Mexican revolution against Spain, and suffered more after Mexico won its independence from Spain
in 1821. In particular, Mission San Jose was expected to furnish food to the military presidios as a way
of preventing famines. In fact this had been established in the 1770 s with the Reglamento,

But for the present the mission offers 200 pesos, the only ones it has and 300 fanegas of wheat for

This letter from Duran was in response to an earlier circular (a letter which was sent to all missions)
from Fr. Sarría in which he stated:
You know the state of the nation and the misery an suffering of the monarchy on account of the war. I
know it is not good to dispossess the neophytes but it is essential for the missions to contribute goods
and other necessities for the maintenance of the troops and their families as we did last yeafr and
which we must do again. It is our patriotic duty.
Duran s response to Sarría is interesting on two levels. The first level is his mention of trade with the
Russian ships. One of the primary roles for colonizing Alta California (and utilizing the evangelizing
fervor of the Franciscan missionaries for this was to create a bulwark against foreign incursions,
primarily of the Russians, though later the English and the Americans would enter into the mix. This
was accomplished easily enough during the early days of the missions existence when they were
struggling just to survive. In the beginning, the missions had nothing which the commercial interest
(which was the driving force of an empire) would be interested in, since at that time the missions were
barely producing enough to support themselves, let alone produce surplus for sale. This

Retrograde Amnesia Essay
Retrograde Amnesia, being a common type of Amnesia, is the one most people are familiar with.
(King, 2016) Retrograde Amnesia is the loss of past memories. If someone falls and hits their head,
the damage caused by that accident could cause the person to forget that the accident even occurred.
(Pg. 234) For example, a friend once decided to try snowboarding, and did not learn how to stop
before she went to the top of the hill. She went down, picking up speed, and did not notice the small
cliff at the bottom until it was too late to turn away. She decided to fall so she would not go over the

Her fall had caused Anterograde Amnesia, and she could no longer make new memories.
Her Doctors decided that the damage was extensive, and with her age, there was no chance of her
regaining her ability to create new memories. We also discovered what looked like damage caused by
a stroke, which had gone unnoticed by us. Before the fall, she had some difficulty remembering recent
events, which was most likely caused by damage from the stroke. When she fell, more damage
occurred in the same area, leaving her with Anterograde Amnesia. Both of those events damaged the
part of the brain that encodes. Without the ability to encode, she could no longer make new memories.
(King, 2016 Pg. 233,234) Where Does Memory Loss Occur?
Since memory is layered, loss can occur in many different areas. (King, 2016 Pg. 216, 217) In
Retrograde Amnesia, long term memory is what is affected. Long term memory is more permanent
than any other type of memory. It allows for lasting memories, that can sometimes be stored for life.
Long term is complex, and the brain uses many components in order to successfully create memories

  • 2. Unique In My Life I like to observe people. I often make mistakes while doing it and then get myself into very uncomfortable situations that could be prevented. I am clumsy. People often ask me how can I be a pre professional ballet dancer and still be so clumsy. I am the product of my changing environment. Shaped by the masses, shaped by languages, shaped by the stars. Once someone said to me: Chaos before the star . There needs to be chaos for something beautiful to happen. Molecular clouds of interstellar gases and dust binding at freezing temperatures, and then a star emerges from the chaos. If I could get one dollar for every time I have embarrassed myself, I would probably be living another life accompanied by those very expensive dogs. But, if I could get one dollar for everytime that those embarrassments have turned into beautiful disasters, I would only be able to buy a handful of things at a dollar store. Those events are quite unique. Unique as in for that one day that my mother hit her head on the windshield while sneezing, which by the way was hilarious. Unique as the inspiring songs about turtles, unique as every broken heart, uniques as you, and also as unique as the day that my life changed. The engines of the plane could just be described as huge. I remember having the sensation of going to another planet. I should have known that in many ways, I actually was. Everything kept getting back to me, my past, my inference of the future and all the goodbyes. Every single one of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Ovid s Metamorphoses What can be sweeter than a mother s unconditional love? In most nuclear families, the family members interact with each other to support and construct a home with values of love and prosperity. However, not every home can be categorized as loving and bountiful as certain circumstances can cause an unfortunate crisis that impacts family members to change how they perceive one another. Revenge, being an approach to handle some circumstances, is a very common topic in Greek mythology which, leads the characters to take justice into their own hands by any means necessary to restore their honor. In Ovid s poem the Metamorphoses, tales of grandeur and unpleasant fates are retold in sequence, revealing heroic people, lessons, and origins from stories ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the tale Tereus, Procne, and Philomela , Tereus betrays Procne by raping and then mutilating the tongue of her sister, Philomela, causing Procne to seek revenge from Tereus. Although her method of revenge consists of killing her son Itys and feeding his flesh to Tereus, the sisters reach their end when Philomela becomes a swallow and Procne becomes a nightingale. Sacrificing Itys was not an easy task for Procne as her excess of maternal love (216) in which, Ovid intentionally phrases it with excess , to augment her compassion for him that softens the reader s heart and makes the act of her killing him much more moving. However, her mood quickly changes from ... her unwilling eyes were suddenly full of hot tears that she could not control...felt her sense of purpose falter... (216) to ...[Itys] cries out Mother! reaching for her neck, as Procne drives the blade into his side and does not turn away (217) Ovid s purpose of using the word and phrase unwilling and does not turn away is to describe her conflicting feelings of humanity towards Itys as she experiences brief inner turmoil by debating on sacrificing him though, that does not stop her for what she feels is necessary to do as he looks at him in the eyes while committing the dreadful deed. As mentioned earlier, one might argue and say that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Alzheimer s The Dsm 5 Alzheimer s in DSM What was previously known in the fourth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual as dementia is now known in the DSM 5 as major neurocognitive disorder, with the lower degrees of impaired cognition are now found under mild neurocognitive disorder. The latter category was found in previous editions of the DSM as Cognitive Disorder Not Otherwise Specified. (American Psychiatric Association, 2013) Regardless of the new titles and categories in the DSM 5, dementia is referred to throughout the text for the state of standardization and continuity between clinicians and physicians. The reasoning for this change to neurocognitive disorders refers to dementia typically being the title of degenerative disorders given to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The general diagnostic criteria for major neurocognitive disorder is as follows, as reported by the American Psychiatric Association (2013). There must be a a decrease in cognitive performance from at least one cognitive domain, including complex attention, executive function, learning and memory, language, perceptual motor, or social cognition. This must be supported by evidence of concern regarding significant cognitive decline by the individual, their loved ones, or their clinician as well as a quantified clinical assessment, such as a standardized neuropsychological test, reporting a significant decline in cognition (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). These significant cognitive declines must show a decline in independence through typical day to day activities such as needing help in remembering to pay bills or keeping up with medications. Lastly, this cognitive decline are not occurring as a result of delirium only and are not better evidenced as a mental disorder such as major depressive disorder or schizophrenia. (American Psychiatric Association, 2013) The second specifier for this disorder, with the first in this instance being major cognitive disorder due to Alzheimer s disease, is in relation to whether or not there is a behavioral disturbance present. • 5. Theme Of Masculinity In The Lais Of Marie De France Masculinity is represented in various ways within The Lais of Marie de France. Masculinity is sometimes depicted in untraditional ways through animal representation, the dominance of women, and in negative a light through the prideful and selfish acts of the male characters. The qualities, which are often seen as manly, are quite apparent in an animalistic form of masculinity in the deer in Guigemar, in comparison to the female lover. The women in Lanval show a sense of manhood in their authority and power over the situations of the story. Les Deus Amanz tells a poignant story of two men, and how their over masculine traits of pride, jealousy, and possessiveness lead them to the exact places in which they were avoiding all along. All ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is represented here when the king, ...entered the queen s apartments and when she saw him, she complained aloud, fell at his feet, cried for mercy and said that Lanval had shamed her (77). After the queen offers herself and attempts to throw herself at Lanval, he denies her because of his new fairy like lover. Once the king walks in the queen victimizes herself as soon as she sets eyes on him. Her ability to completely transform herself at the sight of her husband and manipulate his thoughts to her favor shows the power of women. In showing her weakness by falling to her feet and putting herself in a vulnerable position, she is ultimately taking the power into her own hands. With his wife in this state, the king feels an obligation to protect her by punishing whoever did her wrong. In reaction to the queen s account of what Lanval has done, The king grew very angry and swore on oath that, if Lanval could not defend himself in court, he would have him burned or hanged (77). This is a significant act because it displays the control a woman has in a relationship, It also demonstrates how a dominant feminist character influences her male counterpart s masculinity and gives it purpose within a ... • 6. My Personal Statement On My Interview Essay The person I used to conduct my interview was my step mom, Chris Howell. We are very close to one another, and she has been with my dad since I was 4. I would consider her my mom not my step mom. Since she lives 4 hours away, I was unable to meet with her in person for the interview so a phone call was necessary. She s a very outgoing person, who is great at making conversation and telling stories. Even though it would have been more ideal to meet in person to conduct the interview, the phone call still felt natural and helpful. A few times over the course of the interview it was hard to hear what she had said. I did not want to interrupt her, so I missed a few details. Overall, it went very well, and it lasted the perfect amount of time. Since I am her daughter and already know key characteristics about her life, she felt comfortable sharing with me. Even when talking about her ex husband, she did not hold back. To begin, Christine Howell was born January 12th 1958 in Williamsport, PA. The Susquehanna River flows through Williamsport, and Williamsport is a very manufacturing and industry based place. It was the lumbering capital of world in the 1800s. As a result, there are a lot of beautiful homes of all styles. She grew up in a beautiful 6 bedroom Victorian home that had 10 feet ceilings, a huge staircase, and pocket doors. She is the 2nd oldest with 4 sisters and 1 brother. She described her home life as wonderful and traditional. Her dad was the breadwinner of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Egypt And Greek Comparison Essay The development of civilizations was the key factor in advancing society, advancements that disposed of the idea of a hunter gather society. The ancient Egyptians and the Greeks are known for contributing the most towards civilization. However, each possessed similar and different qualities that came together to help shape our world today. The Egyptian civilization was very fortunate in terms that their environment was very dependable unlike Greece. The annual flooding of the Nile river renewed the soil and brought about fertile black soil that in turn resulted in them being the richest agricultural region. Egyptians figured out that the land beyond the river was inhabitable and the environment was not dependable. Realizing this they built their civilization around the Nile river and used the flooding to their advantage. However, unlike the Egyptians who settled around the river the Greeks built many cities upon mountain strongholds. For example, acropolis of Athens is known for being the fortified palace on top of the mountain. Like many early civilizations, both the Egyptians and Greeks had a social pyramid that didn t give much freedom to the people. In Egypt, the Pharaoh his family were known as completely apart from everyone else. There was the small majority of nobles who served priests and also the elite who were below the pharaoh and ... Who Is Julius Caesar Noble Kaydee Cappa The Noblest Man of Them All In the play Julius Caesar, Brutus is claimed to be the tragic hero or, a virtuous character in a dramatic tragedy that is set up from the beginning for downfall, suffering or defeat in the end. This is because of the way he cared for everyone and how he avoided betrayal and deceitfulness at all costs. But because of his optimistic outlook on everyone, this ultimately leads to his death. Throughout the play, he was completely oblivious to those who are using or betraying him. Brutus was well liked, looked up to and widely recognized as being noble. He cared more for others than he did for himself, and everything he did was for the good of someone else. Despite killing Antony s best friend, Julius Caesar, Antony still declared him the noblest man of them all (Act 5, Scene 5). Probably not, but most americans have had this issue in that past. The narrator in The Tell Tale Heart had the same exact same problem during his span as a butler. The Tell Tale Heart is a short story composed about a butler that murders his master because he didn t liked the way his master s eye looked when it was open. The meaning of the title The Tell Tale Heart , means that every heart has a tale to tell. At the ending of the story the narrator openly admits that he killed his master to police officers because he claims that he could hear the heartbeat of his deceased corrs. The narrator confessed his crime for three reasons which were: he was insane, he could not deal with the heartbeat, and he wanted to noise to go away. The first reason for the narrators confession was insane. Edgar Allan Poe quotes I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity (Poe). Poe means by this quote that things that he saw in the world while he was not crazy mad him insane. After the police came into the the narrators master s, the narrator began chatting with them while standing on top of the floorboards where he hid his master s body. • 10. Essay on Mexican Cuisine Mexican Cuisine Mexican cuisine is a style of food that originates in Mexico. It is known for its varied flavors, colorful decoration, and variety of spices and ingredients, many of which are native to the country. What makes a meal distinctly Mexican, of course, are the lively seasonings. • 11. Catherine De Medici Influence On Ballet Ballet is a formalized and elegant form of dance with a fitting origin that traces back to Italian Renaissance courts during the 15th and 16th centuries. This style of dance quickly spread from Italy to France with the assistance of the aristocratic influence that came from Catherine de Medici, who succeeded in helping ballet develop even further. For example, Catherine helped develop ballet further by having her own piece of work, Le Paradis d Amour , be presented at her daughters wedding, where Marguerite de Valois was wedded to Henry of Navarre. Naturally, with ballet having an aristocratic background, aristocratic money was responsible for the dance styles initial stages of development in court ballet. Countries from around the world are trying to prevent this from happening, because if we have a WWIII, we would be our own demise. First off, There are so many nuclear warheads in the world, that we could blow up the whole earth. As it says in this article, from a scientist/mathematician There are an estimated total of 20,500 nuclear warheads in the world today. If the average power of these devices is 33,500 Kilotons, there are enough to destroy the total earth landmass. For comparison, the largest bomb ever detonated was 50 megatons or 50000000000000 pounds of TNT. Maybe the terrorists want it though. They seem to like mass destruction. Heres another fact: It would only take a couple bombs to destroy the US. This is not even counting wind carrying radioactive dirt and dust miles away. If a bomb was dropped in the UK, people on the east coast of the US could suffer radiation poisoning. Secondly, thermonuclear bombs, or hydrogen bombs, work by using the energy of a fission bomb to compress and heat fusion fuel. This means that it has incredible nuclear fallout, and if only a few were dropped, we would go into nuclear winter, no crops would grow, and everything would die. Even if they were dropped in the same place at the same time on the other side of the world, the nuclear winter would engulf the world in a shade, essentially turning it into a giant snowball and causing another ice age. Going back to the question on the table, will there be a WWIII? Maybe, if North Korea makes a big mistake. The USA cannot nuke North Korea because some of the fallout would land onto China, South Korea, and Russia. We do not want to go to war with Russia, neither China. If we go to war with Russia, then the world ends, if we go to war with China, its allies would join in and our allies would join in and the world would end. At the early age of 16 he became a traveling salesman where he met William Painter, the inventor of the disposable Crown Cork bottle cap. This friendship ignited Gillette s passion for invention and entrepreneurship. In 1895 he had an idea of a disposable razor blade. The problem was how to make the blades thin enough and at a price low enough to be profitable. Then in 1901 Gillette met an MIT graduate by the name of William Nickerson and the idea and dream became a reality. The Gillette Safety Razor Company began making safety razors and blades. The company offered a new product, safety razors and blades, a product of convenience at a reasonable price. Gillette had a few lean years to establish a customer base. To attract new customers Gillette tried advertising by putting his face stamped on the thin razor blades, and then gave away the razor as a free gift. The razor was useless without the blades. The marketing gimmick of FREE worked! Gillette gave free razors that then created a demand for the blades. Gillette sold razors in bulk at discounted prices to banks so they could use them as give away when you opened an account, the Shave and Save campaigns were huge success. Examples Of Free Will In The Knight s Tale Lucas Shelton Mr. Small English 12 18 November 2014 The Canterbury Tales Literary Analysis: Fate vs. Free Will One of the most controversial questions within the philosophical spectrum is whether a situations outcome is based on fate or free will. Geoffrey Chaucer examines both sides of the argument in The Knight s Tale , which is only a small portion of The Canterbury Tales. The tale centered itself around two men, Arcite and Palamon, who fell madly in love with the same woman, Emily. They were both forced to overcome major obstacles in their paths just to be near her. Yet, in the end, they faced the greatest challenge. Arcite and Palamon, once the best of friends, became the most bitter of enemies, as they fought to determine who would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As referenced in the previous paragraph, Arcite even fell victim to the lover s sickness of Eros. (Chaucer 5) The author takes the extra step to describe its symptoms to the readers, in such detail that Arcite could almost be seen in his weakened state. Those included an unhealthy, gaunt appearance, sunken eyes, and extreme paleness. Another example can be seen in the layout of the amphitheater, which was created by King Theseus to make a spectacle out of the last battle. It is interesting to note that a man would go to such great lengths to create the most out of a seemingly meaningless series of events. Regardless, the amphitheater was very extravagant. Near the gate, stood three temples devoted to the gods, each of which were finely decorated with high quality materials. First there was Venus, the goddess of love, then there was Mars, the god of war, and lastly there was Diana, the goddess of chastity. The third and final example of imagery that can be seen within the tale is the emphasis on Arcite and Palamon, specifically their individual styles of fighting. Both men were compared to animals in this sense. According to the text you might judge that Palamon in his fighting were a mad lion and Arcite a cruel tiger. (Chaucer 7) Later on, King ... Organizational Leadership Paper Organizational Leadership Description of Organizational Leadership Organizational leadership is a twofold management style that works towards what is best for employees/ people and what is greatest for the company or group as a whole at the same time. It is also a mind set and a work ethic that empowers an individual in any role to lead from the top, middle, or bottom of an organization (Technologies, 2017). Key Factors During my research for this paper I learned that there are five key Factors of organizational leadership which are, Worldview, Strength, communication, ethics and leadership. Worldview is a complex image created from the different ways which people view the world. It is not focused on identity, political stance, or religious viewpoints, although it does include these (Technologies, 2017). This compiles everything a person thinks about the world, joining together the real and the indefinable. Worldview can be described by attitudes, opinions, beliefs, and ideas that influence people. Additionally, organizational leadership requires an understanding of the combined worldview of the organization, which consists of the many various and sometimes conflicting worldviews of the people within that organization (Technologies, 2017). A great leader is someone who can see the strength in others and themselves and use those strengths to their advantage, and at the same time work around weaknesses. • 31. Postmodernism Of The Rocky Horror Picture Show Sink 1 Daniel Sink Foster ENG 195 1 November 2016 Postmodernism of The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) The Rocky Horror Picture Show , directed by Jim Chapman, is a campy comedy musical set in a horror and science fiction themed castle in which sexuality and hilarity run rampant. The film, closely based on a stage production, hit theaters in 1975 and continued to rule the midnight film scene, becoming a cult classic. By using homage and allusion to science fiction and horror B films, lambasting sexual identity and gender normality, and employing a self referential universe, The Rocky Horror Picture Show stands as a strong representation of 1970 s postmodernism in film. The Rocky Horror Picture Show opens with the, now iconic, disembodied set of red lips singing Science Fiction/Double Feature . The song is a nostalgia trip through time as it references everything thing from Flash Gordon s underwear to reminding us who stars in Forbidden Planet. The setting of the film its self is a spooky manor and set piece that is almost identical to the sets from Hammer Film Productions such as The Curse of Frankenstein (Terence Fisher, 1957) and the remake of The Old Dark House (William Castle, 1963). When we first meet Dr. Frankenfurter, he suggests that all characters (and audience) take in an old Steve Reeves movie and by the films climax Frankenfurter is dressed like burlesque queen Lili St. Cyr and being carried up an RKO radio tower, much like Fay Wray being ... • 32. The Public Schooling System During The United States When looking at the history of America, it is fascinating to see how the public schooling system even got started. The first schools in America were not public schools, as many would presume. Instead, the first schools in the United States were religious and not secular (Elifson 1). Nearly all public schools, up to the 1960 s incorporated religion and prayer in their classrooms; however, in the last 50 years, prayer and religion in public schools has been debated over countless times. Even in Hudsonville, Michigan, which holds the record in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the most churches on a single street, there is much debate over prayer and the teaching of Christianity, or any religion, in the public schools. When I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Samuel Ayers and Shelly Reid are two educators at schools in Texas and they agree with this statement. They argue constantly in their article that religions are essential in teaching social studies. Reid and Ayers contend that, [the] very faces of Europe and Africa were changed as Muslims and Christians battled over lands during the Middle Ages (2). They also state that in other countries, entire social systems are based on religious beliefs (2). Consequently, this points to the fact that religion, in its entirety, is immensely important in teaching students the history of nations and many social systems that nations uphold. Reid and Ayers have proven that after receiving the knowledge of religion in some countries and understanding why their respective religions were important to them, [students] achieved a deeper understanding of many current events, [especially] those involving the Middle East (Ayers and Reid 2). It is perfectly clear that in many circumstances, knowing the religious background of a nation will help enlighten the students to better understand why some nations hold a particular stance on a given matter (Ayers and Reid 1 3). Another author, Rob Boston, talks about this subject in less detail. He argues that legitimate instruction about religion as an academic subject in public schools [is not] a problem. As long ... Therefore beliefs and values intertwine from the Europe and Asia continent. If we focus on the central figures of each painting, we are given two examples of the interweaving of ideas in art, specifically in religion; Welcoming Descent of Amida and Twenty five Bodhisattvas (ca. 1336) and Diptych with Crucifixion and Madonna and Child Enthroned (ca. 1315). Each work was created thousands of miles in distance, with separate beliefs, and within the century; however, these two works are parallel in structure. We can speculate that the worship of idols in both works can be derived from the romans, in which they idolized their gods with sculptures and figurines. Therefore, the world however grant, can still be seen as a small place. As both these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since the military in California received little to no support during the Mexican revolution against Spain, and suffered more after Mexico won its independence from Spain in 1821. In particular, Mission San Jose was expected to furnish food to the military presidios as a way of preventing famines. In fact this had been established in the 1770 s with the Reglamento, It is also important to note that in Spanish California at this time, the dominant economic system was based on that of bartering. Pesos were far more an abstract economic factor for both the missionaries as well as the soldiers. Since pesos would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But for the present the mission offers 200 pesos, the only ones it has and 300 fanegas of wheat for trade with the Russian ship if it enters, etc., all for the sole purpose of helping the troops. This letter from Duran was in response to an earlier circular (a letter which was sent to all missions) from Fr. Sarría in which he stated: You know the state of the nation and the misery an suffering of the monarchy on account of the war. I know it is not good to dispossess the neophytes but it is essential for the missions to contribute goods and other necessities for the maintenance of the troops and their families as we did last yeafr and which we must do again. It is our patriotic duty. Duran s response to Sarría is interesting on two levels. The first level is his mention of trade with the Russian ships. One of the primary roles for colonizing Alta California (and utilizing the evangelizing fervor of the Franciscan missionaries for this was to create a bulwark against foreign incursions, primarily of the Russians, though later the English and the Americans would enter into the mix. This was accomplished easily enough during the early days of the missions existence when they were struggling just to survive. In the beginning, the missions had nothing which the commercial interest (which was the driving force of an empire) would be interested in, since at that time the missions were barely producing enough to support themselves, let alone produce surplus for sale. If someone falls and hits their head, the damage caused by that accident could cause the person to forget that the accident even occurred. (Pg. 234) For example, a friend once decided to try snowboarding, and did not learn how to stop before she went to the top of the hill. She went down, picking up speed, and did not notice the small cliff at the bottom until it was too late to turn away. She decided to fall so she would not go over the cliff, and while she was successful at that, she unfortunately hit her head on a patch of ice as she fell. Her fall had caused Anterograde Amnesia, and she could no longer make new memories. Her Doctors decided that the damage was extensive, and with her age, there was no chance of her regaining her ability to create new memories. We also discovered what looked like damage caused by a stroke, which had gone unnoticed by us. Before the fall, she had some difficulty remembering recent events, which was most likely caused by damage from the stroke. When she fell, more damage occurred in the same area, leaving her with Anterograde Amnesia. Both of those events damaged the part of the brain that encodes. Without the ability to encode, she could no longer make new memories. (King, 2016 Pg. 233,234) Where Does Memory Loss Occur? Since memory is layered, loss can occur in many different areas. (King, 2016 Pg. 216, 217) In Retrograde Amnesia, long term memory is what is affected. Long term memory is more permanent than any other type of memory. It allows for lasting memories, that can sometimes be stored for life. Long term is complex, and the brain uses many components in order to successfully create memories in this section.
