Challenges Of College Students
For first year students coming straight from high school, college life can either be very exciting or
overwhelming depending on how well one prepares for it. Some have the notion that college is fun
and is all about partying, while some believe that it is an environment in which they can achieve the
ultimate freedom thus escape the stringent rules made by their parents at home. Others look forward to
experiencing a different learning environment while being exposed to different cultures and sharing
different academic knowledge. Successful assimilation into college life is determined by the student s
capability to transform into the new role of a college student. Numerous students face challenges they
have never experienced before which can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Allocating more time towards having fun rather than focusing on schoolwork or studying in general
also affects student s time management. Since they have every opportunity of flexibility with minimal
boundaries involved, there is the urge to enjoy the newfound liberty, and as a result, neglect of
assignments, deadlines bypassed and incompetent test results. For that reason, the commitment to
study is only realized when exams are approaching thereby causing panic to the student as the
realization that class materials have not been covered starts to arise. Finally, the most difficult
challenge students face in college is a financial hardship. Many students come from various walks of
life and sometimes determining one s financial capability to offset college costs during the early stages
of can be problematic. Some students come from well to do families who have a tremendous capacity
to pay full tuition without external assistance. These particular students do not require financial aid or
scholarships, as they can meet the institution s financial requirement regardless of what level in
college they may fall under as the source of wealth is derived from the family or families. Other
students, however, come from impoverished families whom solely depend on financial aid and work
full time or part time

The Groundings With My Brothers Summary
On June 16, 2015, a long time television and real estate magnate by the name of Donald J. Trump
opened his presidential campaign by uttering one of the most racially insensitive remarks in today s
time when he elucidated upon that notion that Mexican immigrants who come to America are not
model citizens but rather rapists and murderers who undermine the legitimacy and economic fortitude
of the American experiment. This racist and xenophobic remark illustrates just how entrenched the
notion of white supremacy or as Walter Rodney would call it the white cultural imperialism ideology
is inextricably tied to the understanding of our society today. Because of this problematic ideology,
there must be some sort of opposition to fight against such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In particular, Walter Rodney s third argument about the role of black intellectual in integrating one s
self with the happening s of the black masses is particularity intriguing. Here, I posit that Rodney is
making an argument about the need for solidary within politically repressed minority communities
like those of the African American community. I agree with Rodney that through the acceptance and
affirmation of the connections that we share with each of our brothers and sisters that it helps us move
in a path in which all of those who are the most marginalized within our society stand a chance to
benefit in the long run. Solidary is important to liberation and in reforming the oppressive structures
under which we live.
Moreover, I agree with the argument Rodney posits when he tasks black intellectuals to not believe
and challenge the social myth of the multi racial society. In this instance, I think that Rodney is
making a broader point about how pervasive and powerful ideology can be. Essentially, in a sort of
Marxist spin, it is my belief that Rodney is saying that people in power often times make relationships
and ideas seem more legitimate than they actually are in order to cause one to be obscured to

The Biblical Story Of Adam And Eve
The influence of the biblical story of Adam and Eve is very apparent in Rappaccinis Daughter. This
being said, it is disappointing that little to no criticisms are found on this topic. Nathanial Hawthorns,
Rappaccinis daughter, is an Allusion of Adam and Eve and therefore an allegory.
When approached with a readers responds critique, one is reminded of the biblical story of Adam and
Eve, the creation of man. The story of Adam and Eve happens in Genesis chapter 2 and 3. Long story
short, god made Adam and eve to look after Eden, he told them to never eat from the tree of
knowledge. A serpent, Satan, persuaded eve to eat the fruit of knowledge, and she persuaded Adam to
do the same, when god found out they were banned from Eden.
If you switch some of the characters and setting you are given a story close to Rappaccinis Daughter.
Giovanni would be Adam and Beatrice would be eve, the serpent would be Rappaccini himself and the
bush covered in purple flowers represents the tree of knowledge. In this version of the creation of
man, everything is manipulated. The serpent, Rappaccini plays god. He changes what god has done
into a perversion. Rappaccini, never persuaded Beatrice to smell the flowers, he exposed it to her,
making her immune. Giovanni falls for this eve and is now stuck to this poisons sin.
Scholars approach this recreated story of the creation of man with the idea of that it follows the tide of
an imaginative scenario of human breeding and tyranny, exploring the

Essay about Rhetoric vs. Truth
The relationship between rhetoric and truth is a highly conflicted topic. Two philosophers that discuss
this topic are Plato and Nietzsche. Plato argues that rhetoric is merely a useful craft that deals only in
the subjective and material world rather than in the pursuit of true knowledge. Nietzsche, on the other
hand, argues that absolute truths are unobtainable since individuals are incapable of being completely
objective, thereby rendering the debate between rhetoric and truth meaningless. Although both are
valid points of view, Nietzsche s argument appears to hold more weight insofar as it seems to solve the
debate between rhetoric and truth by eliminating absolute truth altogether. To begin, Plato s view of
rhetoric stems from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is one of the reasons why he believes that rhetoric is not synonymous with truth. Plato argues
against rhetoric because it deals in the material world, which is not the place where ideas exist, nor
does it attempt to attain truth. Rhetoric is more or less, the flawed knowledge of the world being
manipulated by language for everyday matters, such as politics and law, rather than being used in the
pursuit of absolute truths. Rhetoric is therefore useless. He furthers his argument against rhetoric in his
dialogue Gorgias. In Plato s Gorgias, he argues that rhetoric is untruthful by being based on belief, as
well as having the potential for manipulation and deception. In the dialogue, Plato has Socrates
distinguish between true knowledge and belief. He argues that there can be false as well as true
beliefs, however, there is only true knowledge one is concrete while the other is changeable and
unpredictable. Hence, it follows that knowledge and belief are associated and utilized in different
professions and subject areas. So, Socrates has Gorgias admit that rhetoric is limited to the fields of
politics and law, which he argues deal in persuasion that is based on belief as oppose to instructing
about a true knowledge of right and wrong. For example, an orator or lawyer may induce a belief
about justice, but cannot actually convey a true

Introductory Personality Psychology Case Study
Undergraduate students enrolled in introductory personality psychology courses at The Pennsylvania
State University from the Altoona and University Park campuses will be recruited for participation.
All students enrolled in the courses will be required to complete the procedure for this study to earn a
grade in the course, however, they will be required to give their consent to use their data in the present
study in exchange for extra credit in the course. Those who do not consent to use their data will be
omitted from the study and will be offered an alternative course assignment to earn the same amount
of extra credit as those who opted to participate. Each participant s age, race, and gender will be
collected for use for comparison ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The data will then be correlated and analyzed.
Procedure
Students will be taught to code individuals using the LPFS criteria by reading fictional sample cases
created by the course instructor. The instructors of the course are individuals who are clinically trained
psychologists and have worked with the LPFS before. Because there are two campuses collecting
data, the cases will be the same across all of the courses and coded by all of the instructors teaching
the course to ensure that there is agreement about the LPFS scores given. Once the sample cases are
decided upon, they will be distributed to the students. Before coding the case, the students will be
given a brief lecture on personality disorders and the implication of the LPFS into assessing
personality dysfunction. The students will then be instructed to code the case and will be graded on
completion of the assignment. Upon completing the assignment, the instructor will go over the cases
and give feedback regarding the codes. This will involve the instructor giving the codes that they
decided on with their colleagues for each dimension of the LPFS. Once the review of the students
codes for the fictional cases is complete, the students will be instructed to code themselves using the
LPFS criteria. Again, students will receive a grade for completion of this step in the process. It

Eassy On Plastic Pollution
Shelby Cailteux
Mrs. Phegley
English II
11 December 2017
Plastic Pollution in the Environment Plastic pollution is a major threat to our environment and
continues to get worse every day. We live in a disposable society where fast food is served in plastic or
Styrofoam containers and discarded instead of glass dishes. Many people use plastic water bottles
instead drinking from the tap. Plastic soda bottles are used instead of glass returnable bottles. Plastic
grocery bags have replaced the brown paper grocery bags. Unfortunately, not enough people properly
dispose so all this plastic ends up as plastic pollution by littering road ways, parks, beaches, and
oceans, or it gets buried in landfills. For many years scientists tried to develop plastic instead of using
natural made products such as ivory from elephant tusks and tortoise shells from turtles. Finally, in
1862 and English inventor named Alexander Parkes invented the first plastic called Parkesine (Knight
8). The first truly synthetic plastic was developed in 1907 which was called Bakelite and was made
from coal tar (9). At the time it was used for jewelry, telephones, clocks, and radios (9). Over the years
improvements have been made in the production of plastic.
Plastic is used in almost everything we use on a daily basis such as shoes, cars, clothes, computers,
furniture, windows, and many other things. Plastic has made our lives more convenient but it is also a
high price to pay for the convenience considering

unpleasant moment for Calvin and it goes with the time setting. Throughout every panel of the comic
everything is framed with similar sized rectangles. I think this was framed like this because Calvin isn

very straightforward and relatable; the punchline would be when calvin says to his mom It can t be! It

Gun Laws And Gun Control Laws
Gun Control Laws Within the last couple of months, gun control and gun control laws has been seen
all over the news and all over social media. I decided that topic would be perfect for this essay While
scrolling through Facebook, I came upon this meme and I knew right away it was the right meme for
this paper. Within the last couple of months, we have had about two major mass shootings and they
have had a huge impact over the nation. Society is wondering why the government is not doing much
and why we are not seeing any changes with these laws. Most people are saying that we need to have
stricter gun laws, but would that really change anything? This meme that I found was posted on
Facebook by the Hill Country Young Republicans . Many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I found an article called Five Reasons US Gun Control Won t Happen . It caught my eye and I decided
that it would maybe help me find some useful information for this paper. The first reason is because of
the NRA. The NRA is a group of over 5 million people and play a big role in politics. They have an
overall budget of 250 million dollars to use to advocate gun facilities and educational programs and
events and sponsorships. They have developed a reputation in Washington o make or break a
politician. Another reason is because of Gerrymandering. Most recent attempts to pass new federal
laws regulating firearms are over before they ever really begin. According to BBC News, In June 2016
a group of Democratic politicians staged a sit in on the floor of the House to protest the Republican
House leadership s decision not to hold a vote on two gun control bills. This shows that the house
tends to have pro gun rights (Zurcher, 1). Demographics also play a part in the pro gun part in the
House, as there are more rural districts with higher levels of gun ownership than there are urban ones.
The articles also had a couple more reason to why the laws won t help. The filibuster and the courts
were other big ways to why they won t be passed or even help (Zurcher, 2 3). Some States have went
and made their own laws against guns. Florida has allowed its citizens to carry a concealed weapon.
Since this law was enacted

Flowers In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold
The significance of flowers in Gabriel Garcia Marquez s Chronicle of a Death Foretold
By: Sargun Bhatia
Total words: 1445
Gabriel Garcia Marquez s 1981 novella, Chronicle of a Death Foretold, is an investigation into the
murder of Santiago Nasar through the lens of a Columbian community. It acts as a broader
commentary on the obligations to virtue, duty and honour at the expense of meaningful relationships
and rational decision making. This essay will explore how Marquez uses flowers to represent the high
standards expected of them that simultaneously result in justification for their objectification. Flowers
are also used to mask and disguise the hollow and often onerous expectations to uphold flawed beliefs
on virtue, religion and duty. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This dehumanisation while firstly seems justifiable to lessen the emotional burden, is alarming when
considering that women are also given the names of flowers and treated as much. The euphoric
imagery and naming associated with these women while seem flattering, in fact objectify them. Such
is symptomatic of the role they play within society, where their aesthetics and frailty are commodities
that are circumvented by wayward behaviour. The very positioning in the Vicario household of the
flowerpots next to the pigsty, with its sacrificial stone and disembowelling table , encourages
comparison between the aesthetic, resplendent women and the pigs. The alliteration draws attention to
the role of the women and pigs as sacrifices to honour duty and appetite (not limited to the pigs),
which pre empt the grotesque imagery and reality enforced by the disembowelling table where the
victims are literally torn apart yet are a good source of domestic income . In this way, Marquez uses
flowers to compare defenceless pigs ready for the slaughter to women ready to be married. Pigs and
women are used as currency to service society, where flowers symbolise the expectations of women to
be virtuous and delicate whilst simultaneously

The Art Of Graffiti
In the summer of 2013, a graffiti artist by the name of Lady Pink had police barge into her house in
Queens and arrest her husband for vandalism. They took her art supplies, photo archives, and many of
her prized possessions. She had to sit there, helpless, watching police take away her things. In today s
world right now, expressing yourself creatively is one of the most important things you can do to help
figure out who you are. A part of creative expression is art. Art makes people happy. Graffiti falls into
the art category. For some people, graffiti is what they do to express themselves. Graffiti is art and
shouldn t be illegal. Expressing yourself creatively shouldn t be a crime. Many people think that adults
doing graffiti influences younger kids do it. That s simply not true. A graffiti artist by the name of
Banksy , who is an unidentified artist in England, says Imagine a city where graffiti wasn t illegal, a
city where everybody could draw whatever they liked. Where every street was awash with a million
colors and little phrases. Where standing at a bus stop was never boring. A city that felt like a party
where everyone was invited, not just the estate agents and barons of big business. Graffiti is art and art
is such a wonderful thing that makes others happy. If someone wants to do something that makes them
happy, then people should let them. It s no different than painting or music or even doing makeup. It
makes people happy. Being happy shouldn t be

Group Climate In 12 Angry Men
The 1957 film version of 12 Angry Men depicts the nature of a small group setting. Within this film,
we can see the group as a system, the development of group climate, and the different roles portrayed
in a group. Eleven out of the twelve jurors voted the boy on trial guilty when they were initially asked
their vote. Later throughout the movie, the group went into detail on the trail, thanks to Juror 8, and
eventually changed their vote. If it weren t for the call for communication on the topic, the boy who
was being tried would have been sentenced to death. Juror 2 was the most soft spoken of the group.
He plays the role of the newcomer and shows signs of insecurity which leads to him not being taken
seriously and is often talked over by the other members. When asked for his vote he stated Oh...well, I
just think he s guilty... I mean no one proved otherwise. Not only does this make him seem insecure

Group climate is defined as being the emotional atmosphere and the enveloping tone that is created by
the way we communicate in groups. A factor that plays largely in the film is the literal climate of the

the pressure builds and personalities clash, you see the men go from being hot, to literally drenched in

wipe their foreheads. the group climate is becoming to hot for some of the jurors to handle. The most
noticeable symbol of the heat/group climate is the fan. Throughout the duration of the movie, the fan
does not work and things get heated between the jurors. Unnecessary arguments, blatant disrespect,
and even threats of violence occur during the time that the fan is off. Its when the fan turns on that the

Nineteen Eighty Four Essay
Individual power is the control held within the hierarchy of ascendancy over others. Although it does
take into account the ability to have command over one s self, with regard to the freedom of influence
and authority. In George Orwell s didactic Nineteen Eighty Four¸ the autonomy of the individual is
suppressed. His dystopic, totalitarian society depicts a world where the supremacy of the corporation
is maintained through the deprivation of self expression and the ever present threat of violent
coercion. The Party aims to achieve a social order that consists of no relationships, no desire, no art,
no literature, no science in order that ultimately no enjoyment in the process of life be found. This

The Theme Of Love In Valentine By Carol Ann Duffy
Being in love is like an amalgamation of different yet powerful emotions exploding every second. It
tends to heighten ones perception, hence, perceiving the world through a larger lens. It can cause a
deep sense of grief at times but it can also make one feel a certain kind of content. The very exclusive
one where the abundance of joy cannot be defined. Valentine by Carol Ann Duffy explores the many
sides to love. The entire poem is an extended metaphor that criticizes the stereotypical idea of love.
Duffy uses an onion, a very unusual object as a symbol to represent a gift for one s admirer. The poet
reveals the positive aspects of the speaker s attitude to love through the use of powerful imagery
(similes, metaphors, repetition), prominent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Duffy utilizes a plethora of different words ranging from positive to negative. She carefully picks
them to warn the reader what your about to read isn t an ordinary love poem. The words careful and
light introduced in the first stanza express delicacy and innocence. Love could explode at anytime yet
remain stable. Duffy inserts direct, straightforward words such as here and take it to catch the reader s
attention. These words are ended with a period giving an austere tone. The use of negative words such
as blind, tears and grief illustrate an image of sorrow and misery creating an element of danger.
Something quite uncommon for a poem entitled valentine . Here Duffy takes the reader to the
unpleasant side of love that is often ignored in most love poems. She is conveying the true reality of
being in love and not just the fantasized version of it. In the second half of the poem, Duffy chooses to
use a more bold set of words such as fierce , possessive , lethal and faithful which contradict the words
kiss , stay and lips which is more subtle and distinctive. The repetition of the word cling towards the
end of the poem emphasizes that once your love is vanished the scent the memory will still live on,
leaving an impression in your life, a permanent tattoo imprinted in your

Review of Research Paper on Creating Home-Made Stem Cells
Our paper discusses an important step in the research surrounding stem cells.
Pluripotent stem cells are found in the early blastocyst, and can differentiate into different cell types
such as neurons, cardiac muscle, or blood cells.
As is explained elsewhere on this paper, stem cells are extremely useful and hold amazing medical
potential, especially to grow specific cells, tissues, and even organs for patients. Controversy mires the
progress of stem cell research from embryos, however, and technical problems exist along with the
ethical ones. Marius Wernig and his team of scientists have had success studying a way to get around
this, however.
What if, instead of taking stem cells from newly created embryos, an ... Show more content on

But how did the experimenters know if the cells that they had created were truly pluripotent stem
cells? What could these cells form? First, a bit of background information must be included about
chimeras. In basic terms, a chimera contains two sets of DNA, both of which are expressed. Different
sections of the chimera s body will be derived from different DNA. A good example is an individual
with eyes of two different colors (one green, one blue, etc). Chimeras can be formed when two
fertilized eggs fuse together at an early stage, or when an unfertilized egg or extra sperm fuses with a
fertilized egg. Now the developing organism contains two different genetic codes. In most cases,
chimeras are completely healthy. There is no worry of immune rejection, because the cells are joined
together far before any immune system exists to reject either.
Now, back to the paper. How did chimeras help the scientists identify the pluripotent stem cells they
had created? The scientists obtained mouse blastocysts that had certain traits different than those in the
intended pluripotent cells. These blastocysts were injected with the potential induced pluripotent stem
cells, and allowed to develop to birth. All the induced stem cells were designed to produce Gfp (green
fluorescent protein), so if the newly born mice glowed green under ultraviolet light, then it proved that
they indeed

Japan s Foreign Policy During The End Of The Twentieth...
In the end of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Japan was a strong militaristic country that
held a strong power and influence in the Asia Pacific region. It was an expansionist and strong
imperialist nation similar as the Western colonizers such as England, the Dutch, Russia, France and
Germany. The Japanese empire extended from the Dutch East Indies in the south to Manchuria in the
north before the country surrendered on September 1945 to the Allies. The Allied Power led by
General Douglas MacArthur had occupied Japan for several years before it was fully liberated in
1952. After the occupation, Japan s foreign policy was given back to its government. The country took
the opportunity given to repair its relations with its neighbours. Some historians claimed that the
reconciliation period was successful through several treaties agreed upon the East Asian countries in
the 1960s. However, it was different side of the story when the issue was asked to the Japanese former
colonies. A lot of its people will claim that they could not forget what the Empire of Japan had done to
them. Hence, it would be wise to ask how does Japan war history would affect its relations with its
East Asia neighbours?
This paper will explain the two most significant impacts that the aggressive Empire of Japan history
affects its connections with its neighbours. History has caused the reconciliation process between the
countries to be delayed and continues frictions between them to occur.

The Structure And Development Of The Human Skeletal System
The Human Skeletal System Assignment 1: Essay The human skeleton provides the internal
framework of the human body and comprises of 270 bones at birth, decreasing to 206 bones by
adulthood. The reason for this decrease, is that by adulthood, some bones that were once separate have
become fused together. Most of the unfused bones in infants can be found in the skull, this is to allow
for an easier transition through the pelvis in childbirth. Unfused bones can also be found in the arms
and legs, to allow for growth into adolescence, when some of the unfused bones will become fused.
Bones of the human body can be classified into two sections. The axial skeleton and the appendicular
skeleton. The axial skeleton contains 80 bones and can be seen in the image (01). The bones comprise
of: 8 Cranial Bones 14 Facial Bones 1 Hyoid Bone 6 Auditory Ossicles Bones 26 Bones of the

Where there are problems, they are often with the way the Australian federal system operates, rather
than with federalism itself. Rather than criticising our federal system, we should be working to make
better use of its advantages in order to improve our prosperity. In particular, the reform of the
allocation of powers and responsibilities between the Commonwealth and the States, and reform of
fiscal federalism, are desperately needed. (Twomey and Withers, 2007)
Twomey and Withers argue the approach of strategic pragmatism as outlined in Wanna s paper. The
basis of their position is that the federalism structure is unlikely to be subject to major redesign and
the discussion should focus on improving current operation.

Accepting this theory of deterrence apart of internals, can present itself as a role in theft. If there is
anything to deter then we know the problem is there and needs to be fixed. So we know and
understand that employee theft is real and a method that requires some cognitive skills or plan of a
master mind (if done correctly). Because of we really don t know people and their agendas until they
are hired and working for the company it is hard to plan and help internals to decrease. A few ways to
help deter the best way possible are paying attention to the body language of people around you, keep
an open mind and line of communication with everyone about things that go on in the store, also
consider everyone that you work with a suspect (so don t become to buddy buddy.) and have more
cameras than what you need. In my opinion is the best way to deter Internals, is through being present
in the store allowing everyone to know that they are being

The Learning And Teaching Strategies
Many great learning and teaching strategies are presented in the text, How we learn... of which a few
learning tactics, namely discrimination, perceptual learning, chunking and interleaving will be briefly
discussed as to how they have relevance in my context. To begin we will examine discrimination, the
brain s ability to detect minute differences in sights, sounds and textures. [Such is considered]...one of
the first steps we take in making sense of the world (Carey, 2012, p.180). This learning technique
occurs often during HT training as students detect differences in breathing patterns of those being
treated, l see slight tremors or body twitches that accompanies release of stagnate energy and
perceived smoothness of textures in the human energy field (Mentgen Bulbrook, 2011). Next,
perceptual learning occurs as the brain takes notice of subtle differences in techniques, such as hand
positions that seem the same but may not have the same therapeutic effect. Another learning strategy
that can be useful in HT training is chunking which is the simple act of grouping bits and pieces of
information together to make a whole (or at minimal a segment) of a concept. For example words
stringed together create sentences and sentences which are connected formulate paragraph. In the case
of HT chunking is necessary as a series of hand movements and/or places equate to a specific healing
technique. The final relevant strategy from the text is that if interleaving, a cognitive science

Reading Response #1 To My Dear Housband and Upon The Burning Of Our House
By Anne Bradstreet.
At the beginning, I was shocked. Because Anne talks of her love towards his housband, and when I
read about the Background of the poem I discovered that Anne got married at the age of 16. Also, the
fact that Anne talks too much about God s will in the second poem, leads me to spiritual growth. Both
poems represent something in my life, like: the burning of the house represent problems that may
happen to me and Anne s reaction that is thinking that every thing happens for a reason. My view of
certain problems changed when I read Upon The Burning Of Our House , ... Show more content on

Love is big when I really appreciate what my family or friends do for me. This poem oppened my eyes
and changed my view of the love I had for my family. I got more identified with Upon the Burning Of
Our House , because it says that all is vanity and I think that sometimes the people including me,
forgets the real meaning of beauty and worries more on dressing good than changing the bad attitudes.
I also identified with the second poem because when I am facing a big and disgusting problem, I
search God s help and guidance. I learn from my mistakes. Anne searched a way to get to the readers
hearts including

The Massive Financial Loss Due to the Dot-Com Bubble Crash...
In the beginning, the Internet was created by the military in 1958 for their own personal purposes.
They had no idea how many people would be interested in the Internet, nor how much the Internet
could grow into what it is today. The Internet as we know it today did not come about until 1995.
Now, it is said that approximately one third of the world s population uses the Internet, and it is still
growing. The dot com bubble spanned from 1995 to 2000 and involved the entire world. The Internet
caused an unprecedented growth and speed in business because of how accessible it was to everyone.
Many people wanted to become involved because they saw how fast it was growing. One company
that made it possible for so many participants to invest was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The collapse has been recorded as the single greatest loss in the history of the Internet stock market,
with a groundbreaking two thirds deficit. Surprisingly, the cause of the crash was because of the
companies themselves. Companies began to report major losses in revenue because of the Get Big
Fast mentality. This caused doubt to set in, and people quickly stopped investing. Market value
dropped by five trillion dollars, and most companies had to close shop. Andrew Beattie stated that
from March 11th, 2000 to October 9th, 2002 the NASDAQ loss compiled to a whopping 78% of
value. Soon after the initial fall of NASDAQ came September 11th. People had already lost a lot of
their faith in the industry, and the national crisis of 9/11 only added to the crash. People were focused
on the catastrophe of 9/11, and it proved to be the last nail in the coffin for the stock market. People
were no longer investing.
Many argue that the dotcom boom and bust was a case of too much too fast. Companies that couldn t
decide on their corporate creed were given millions of dollars and told to grow to Microsoft size by
tomorrow Andrew Beattie.
Aspects of growth
While many were angry about the dot com bust, others were grateful. While the crash left many
people out of jobs and in debt, the boom proved to be overall helpful. Because of the speed at which
technology was progressing it can be argued that the loss was worth the gains.

The Opera Speculative Design Project
In this document I will evaluate, articulate and communicate my process and accomplishments within
the Opera speculative design project. This document will provide context for my designs and practical
work evidenced in my journal and blog. In this project I will explore Juxtaposing themes, musical and
dramatic styles and characters through research, planning and execution.
We will also construct a set on one of two operas L Enfant et les Sortileges by Maurice Ravel or Lulu
by Alban Berg. The aims of the speculative project are to create a stand alone design that will fit in
NO 1 touring theatres that takes account of the orchestra pit and a one day fit up and six hour strike.
Alongside this we will design costumes for principle and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After developing themes such as identity and animal behaviour we incorporated those ideas into
manikins which would then be presented as a potential puppet idea. Once we had a better
understanding of the operas we then selected which opera we would like to do, and what project we
would like to design on. I chose to do Lulu By Alban Berg as a speculative design as it was the play I
understood the most, I also wanted to develop my process and craftsmanship skills.
After researching the play, I created a scene summery and a character list to refer to while designing. I
also created a storyboard of scenes of significance which gave me an idea of who was at the location
and what was going on. I then started to develop my characters starting with a group drawing, front,
back and side drawings and Photoshop final images.
Once I had a clear image of my characters I then started to experiment within my model box for
inspiration. Once I had a few ideas I then produced some rough sketches, resulting in a final drawing.
I then produced my set on auto cad so I had a good idea of scale and measurements resulting in a final
orthographic, side elevation and cutting list. After I had my measurements and rough drawings I then
drew out the theatre royal in sketch up and did a scene by scene breakdown of the opera. With this
visual aid I then started my set construction.
When I received the technical drawings of the

Cesar Chavez Pesticide
Junior Paper
In the early 1940 s, a new technology emerged that was able to successfully combat crop damaging
and disease carrying insects. A new age of synthetic chemical pesticides use arose. After their
impressive success in fighting deadly insect borne diseases during World War II, pesticides were used
widely to combat insect pests for agriculture and public health. Few people challenged the benefits of
the new scientific and technological products and many embraced pesticide use with enthusiasm.
Despite its success, doubts about pesticide use began to appear a decade later in the 1950 s, when the
government began a vigorous pesticide campaign across the country against insect pests. Scientists
began reporting heavy losses of avian and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Cesar Chavez was an individual who led the United Farm Workers of America on a
campaign against the misuse of pesticides. In a testimony to the US Senate, Chavez claims the real
issue involved here is the issue of the health and safety not only of farm workers but of consumers and
how the health and safety of consumers and farm workers are affected by the gross misuse of
economic poisons (Chavez, 1969). Chavez s testimony confirmed the warnings made by Rachel
Carson on the dangers of pesticide use on human and ecological health. He also claimed it was
impossible to identify in government records the pesticides used by commercial applicators.
Therefore, workers were unaware of what type of pesticide was used, the quantity, and the risks taken
when working within the fields. The inquiries made by Chavez emphasized one of the issues that
united community activists, environmentalists, and labor leaders. Activists united around the idea of
the Right to Know . Throughout the country, the public began to urge the government to inform
citizens on what harmful chemicals existed in the workplace, communities, and ecosystems. Chavez s
testimony to the US Senate is one of the many examples of concerned citizens appealing to the
government and asking for reforms. In Santa Barbara, citizens, who were dissatisfied with government
regulations, drafted a Declaration of Environmental Rights in protest of the government s disregard for
the environment. Santa Barbara citizens declared that ... centuries of careless neglect of the
environment have brought mankind to a final crossroads. The quality of our lives is eroded and our
very existence threatened by our abuse of the natural world (1970). Citizens were beginning to be
more conscious of the health of the environment and began to attempt to gain the

What Are The Most Important Inventions Of Ancient China
Some basic Chinese inventions from the past are the reason for amazing inventions into the future.
Three inventions from China, however, are by far the most significant inventions created. These
inventions include the Mechanical Clock, Smallpox Inoculation, and Moveable Type. These all had
importance in the future, whether it was healing the sick, telling the time or simply writing an essay.
These three Chinese inventions are the reason those things are possible today.
The most important invention in ancient China would have to be the Mechanical Clock. The
Mechanical Clock gave everyday town s people the ability to tell time more accurately than ever.

The Creative Decision Making in a Documentary Production
This journal inspects the importance of creative decision making in various aspects of documentary
production, examines whether those decisions help to make the film an engaging cinematic piece, and
explores the influences it might have on the society, the cinema and the subject, in relation to my own
experience in producing a 15min documentary film Hackney Pirates, and my understandings of
relevant practice from the contemporary cinema.
Introduction
Films about education for children in critical situations have been seen in cinema since the 1990s. For
example, Zhang Yimou s 1999 film Not One Less tells a story about a teenage girl Wei Minzhi who
volunteers to teach in a one room primary school and her relationships with the pupils. And ... Show

Slightly frustrated at first, we realised that the interviews are actually not as necessary as in Être et
Avoir on a second thought, in that the theme of Être et Avoir also includes the teacher s devotion to his
pupils, while Hackney Pirates is purely about the children s learning experience, which satisfies the
objectives of Hackney Pirates; moreover, the volunteer training session facilitated by one of the
founders as part of the narrative structure we ve planned can provide essential information of the
organisation.
The opening
Être et Avoir opens with a scene of tough labour work and living conditions in a rural farm, followed
by a montage sequence of a classroom with warm and cheerful décor. The warm interior in contrast to
the cold exterior emphasizes on the light and positive tone of the film, which consequently helps to
attract the viewers attention and keeps them engaged in the following sequences.
Inspired by the opening sequence of Être et Avoir, we wanted to open the film with a train passing by
city landscape and finally arriving at Haggerston Overground station where Hackney Pirates is based.
At first, the director was not sure about what exactly she was expecting from the shot, whether just the
train passing by city landscape would be enough as an introduction or we have to let it come to a stop
i.e. Haggerston in order to provide extra geographic information. We travelled many times on the train
between Shoreditch

Over Switching
In Andy Molinsky s article Adapt a New Culture, but Don t Go Too Far , over switching is a common
behavior among individuals who make mistakes when they are pushing themselves too far to match a
particular culture. It is inevitable which can affect individual s life or career (Molinsky). International
students and workers are told that individualism is an important part of the culture in the United
States. While they are trying to adapt to that culture, mistakes might happen because of their
unappropriated language and behavior. The best way to minimize the effect of over switching is to
learn from interacting with people from the culture that you are trying to adapt into. In the article,
Cheng, a Chinese professional, hears from others that it is important to express his ideas to colleagues
because it can show his leadership potential. Believing it can make improvements his career life, he
shows all his opinions in an inappropriate manner. He is satisfied about his words which must make an

awkward after that and during the critique for her work. Later a classmate told her that her language

necessary in U.S college study. However, it is also important to choose a better way to present that.

Prison Corrections
When it comes to working in a correctional facility, Samuel Cowey states, I firmly believe that you
must have a good sense of humor to do this job. If you don t it will lead to an early grave from stress
(Cowey, 2012). This statement is true from the highest position of authority to the lowest position. The
California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) houses juveniles and adults that
have been convicted to state prison and provides programs and services during their incarceration to
help them successfully re enter society. Some of the services that are provided in the prison system
are: substance abuse treatment, mental health care, vocational training, education and transitional
aftercare housing. CDCR has 33 adult ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The recent change was part of a major reorganization to emphasize the progress toward rehabilitation
to reduce recidivism and to provide inmates with the training and education to successfully re enter
society following the completion of their sentences. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger noted that
California s $6 billion correctional system suffers from a multitude of problems out of control costs; a
recidivism rate far exceeding that of any other state; reported abuse of inmates by correctional
officers; an employee disciplinary system that fails to punish wrongdoers; and the failure of
correctional institutions to provide youth wards and inmates with mandated health care and other
services (Unknown, n.d.). California s first prison was a 268 ton wooden ship named The Waban. It
was docked in San Francisco Bay in 1851 and held 30 inmates and quickly reached capacity.
California purchased 20 acres of land to build what is now known as San Quentin State Prison. The
inmates aboard The Waban and other prison ships were responsible for the building of the new prison.
The date that the first inmates were used as labor on the site was July 14, which is Bastille Day
(Unknown, n.d.).
Leadership and Organizational Structure
It is believed that individuals that work in correctional facilities end up spending more time in custody
than the inmates themselves. For example: An officer who works for 10 years is equivalent to a 6 year
term and an officer who worked 25

The Legal Team Of Greene s Jewelry Essay
We the legal team of Greene s Jewelry have the opportunity to evaluate all the necessary details of the
case and overlooked what the strengths and weaknesses of our argument would be presented to the
Court. To assist our argument we have decided to utilize the regulations, substantive laws and case
laws. The case precedents will provide multiple directions for the arguments to be assessed in the
Court. Greene s Jewelry is more likely to receive a favorable judgment by applying these resources in
the claim against Ms. Lawson. After numerous evaluations and examinations, we the legal team has

Lawson is due to her breach of the non disclosure agreement. The demeanor in which Ms. Lawson
violated her contract depicts her true intention in her activities. Ms. Lawson s behavior led to an
interruption in Greene s Jewelry daily business operation process. With Greene s biggest competitor,
Howell acquiring confidential information from Ms. Lawson on their secret trade process of Ever

The Demise Of Nat Turner s Rebellion
Nat Turner s rebellion has been considered one of the bloodiest slave revolt in Southern history, and
had a huge impact on the futures of Southern generations for years after. In Nat Turner s confessions
he states You have asked me to give a history of the motives which induced me to undertake the late
insurrection, as you call it To do so I must go back to the days of my infancy, and even before I was
born. I was thirty one years of age the 2d of October last, and born the property of Benjamin Turner,
of this county. (Turner 1831 pg.3) Nat Turner lived in South Hampton County, now in Virginia. In
South Hampton County, there were many slaves. Slaves would attend praise meetings and celebrate
the praise, in such a way the whites did not understand, but the whites still believed that they were
harmless. Again, the whites believed that their slaves posed no threat however, nothing was as calm as
it appeared. On August 22, 1831, a gang of slave rebels led by a preist, Nat Turner, attacked with guns
and axes in the biggest and bloodiest slave revolt in Southern history. Nat Turner was known as a
harmless man, although he was intelligent. Turner was a Baptist priest in the black community, even
though he was never official. He had a wife, Cherry, also a young slave but were separated. Turner
was an intelligent man his knowledge of the Bible was incredible. Turner waited for a sign from God
to start his attack. There was an eclipse in 1831, and Turner took his sign and

  • 2. Challenges Of College Students For first year students coming straight from high school, college life can either be very exciting or overwhelming depending on how well one prepares for it. Some have the notion that college is fun and is all about partying, while some believe that it is an environment in which they can achieve the ultimate freedom thus escape the stringent rules made by their parents at home. Others look forward to experiencing a different learning environment while being exposed to different cultures and sharing different academic knowledge. Successful assimilation into college life is determined by the student s capability to transform into the new role of a college student. Numerous students face challenges they have never experienced before which can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Allocating more time towards having fun rather than focusing on schoolwork or studying in general also affects student s time management. Since they have every opportunity of flexibility with minimal boundaries involved, there is the urge to enjoy the newfound liberty, and as a result, neglect of assignments, deadlines bypassed and incompetent test results. For that reason, the commitment to study is only realized when exams are approaching thereby causing panic to the student as the realization that class materials have not been covered starts to arise. Finally, the most difficult challenge students face in college is a financial hardship. Many students come from various walks of life and sometimes determining one s financial capability to offset college costs during the early stages of can be problematic. Some students come from well to do families who have a tremendous capacity to pay full tuition without external assistance. These particular students do not require financial aid or scholarships, as they can meet the institution s financial requirement regardless of what level in college they may fall under as the source of wealth is derived from the family or families. Other students, however, come from impoverished families whom solely depend on financial aid and work full time or part time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Groundings With My Brothers Summary On June 16, 2015, a long time television and real estate magnate by the name of Donald J. Trump opened his presidential campaign by uttering one of the most racially insensitive remarks in today s time when he elucidated upon that notion that Mexican immigrants who come to America are not model citizens but rather rapists and murderers who undermine the legitimacy and economic fortitude of the American experiment. This racist and xenophobic remark illustrates just how entrenched the notion of white supremacy or as Walter Rodney would call it the white cultural imperialism ideology is inextricably tied to the understanding of our society today. Because of this problematic ideology, there must be some sort of opposition to fight against such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In particular, Walter Rodney s third argument about the role of black intellectual in integrating one s self with the happening s of the black masses is particularity intriguing. Here, I posit that Rodney is making an argument about the need for solidary within politically repressed minority communities like those of the African American community. I agree with Rodney that through the acceptance and affirmation of the connections that we share with each of our brothers and sisters that it helps us move in a path in which all of those who are the most marginalized within our society stand a chance to benefit in the long run. Solidary is important to liberation and in reforming the oppressive structures under which we live. Moreover, I agree with the argument Rodney posits when he tasks black intellectuals to not believe and challenge the social myth of the multi racial society. In this instance, I think that Rodney is making a broader point about how pervasive and powerful ideology can be. Essentially, in a sort of Marxist spin, it is my belief that Rodney is saying that people in power often times make relationships and ideas seem more legitimate than they actually are in order to cause one to be obscured to ... • 4. The Biblical Story Of Adam And Eve The influence of the biblical story of Adam and Eve is very apparent in Rappaccinis Daughter. This being said, it is disappointing that little to no criticisms are found on this topic. Nathanial Hawthorns, Rappaccinis daughter, is an Allusion of Adam and Eve and therefore an allegory. When approached with a readers responds critique, one is reminded of the biblical story of Adam and Eve, the creation of man. The story of Adam and Eve happens in Genesis chapter 2 and 3. Long story short, god made Adam and eve to look after Eden, he told them to never eat from the tree of knowledge. A serpent, Satan, persuaded eve to eat the fruit of knowledge, and she persuaded Adam to do the same, when god found out they were banned from Eden. If you switch some of the characters and setting you are given a story close to Rappaccinis Daughter. Giovanni would be Adam and Beatrice would be eve, the serpent would be Rappaccini himself and the bush covered in purple flowers represents the tree of knowledge. In this version of the creation of man, everything is manipulated. The serpent, Rappaccini plays god. He changes what god has done into a perversion. Rappaccini, never persuaded Beatrice to smell the flowers, he exposed it to her, making her immune. Giovanni falls for this eve and is now stuck to this poisons sin. Scholars approach this recreated story of the creation of man with the idea of that it follows the tide of an imaginative scenario of human breeding and tyranny, exploring the ... • 5. Essay about Rhetoric vs. Truth The relationship between rhetoric and truth is a highly conflicted topic. Two philosophers that discuss this topic are Plato and Nietzsche. Plato argues that rhetoric is merely a useful craft that deals only in the subjective and material world rather than in the pursuit of true knowledge. Nietzsche, on the other hand, argues that absolute truths are unobtainable since individuals are incapable of being completely objective, thereby rendering the debate between rhetoric and truth meaningless. Although both are valid points of view, Nietzsche s argument appears to hold more weight insofar as it seems to solve the debate between rhetoric and truth by eliminating absolute truth altogether. To begin, Plato s view of rhetoric stems from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is one of the reasons why he believes that rhetoric is not synonymous with truth. Plato argues against rhetoric because it deals in the material world, which is not the place where ideas exist, nor does it attempt to attain truth. Rhetoric is more or less, the flawed knowledge of the world being manipulated by language for everyday matters, such as politics and law, rather than being used in the pursuit of absolute truths. Rhetoric is therefore useless. He furthers his argument against rhetoric in his dialogue Gorgias. In Plato s Gorgias, he argues that rhetoric is untruthful by being based on belief, as well as having the potential for manipulation and deception. In the dialogue, Plato has Socrates distinguish between true knowledge and belief. He argues that there can be false as well as true beliefs, however, there is only true knowledge one is concrete while the other is changeable and unpredictable. Hence, it follows that knowledge and belief are associated and utilized in different professions and subject areas. So, Socrates has Gorgias admit that rhetoric is limited to the fields of politics and law, which he argues deal in persuasion that is based on belief as oppose to instructing about a true knowledge of right and wrong. For example, an orator or lawyer may induce a belief about justice, but cannot actually convey a true ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Eassy On Plastic Pollution Shelby Cailteux Mrs. Phegley English II 11 December 2017 Plastic Pollution in the Environment Plastic pollution is a major threat to our environment and continues to get worse every day. We live in a disposable society where fast food is served in plastic or Styrofoam containers and discarded instead of glass dishes. Many people use plastic water bottles instead drinking from the tap. Plastic soda bottles are used instead of glass returnable bottles. Plastic grocery bags have replaced the brown paper grocery bags. Unfortunately, not enough people properly dispose so all this plastic ends up as plastic pollution by littering road ways, parks, beaches, and oceans, or it gets buried in landfills. For many years scientists tried to develop plastic instead of using natural made products such as ivory from elephant tusks and tortoise shells from turtles. Finally, in 1862 and English inventor named Alexander Parkes invented the first plastic called Parkesine (Knight 8). The first truly synthetic plastic was developed in 1907 which was called Bakelite and was made from coal tar (9). At the time it was used for jewelry, telephones, clocks, and radios (9). Over the years improvements have been made in the production of plastic. Plastic is used in almost everything we use on a daily basis such as shoes, cars, clothes, computers, furniture, windows, and many other things. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I found an article called Five Reasons US Gun Control Won t Happen . It caught my eye and I decided that it would maybe help me find some useful information for this paper. The first reason is because of the NRA. The NRA is a group of over 5 million people and play a big role in politics. They have an overall budget of 250 million dollars to use to advocate gun facilities and educational programs and events and sponsorships. They have developed a reputation in Washington o make or break a politician. Another reason is because of Gerrymandering. Most recent attempts to pass new federal laws regulating firearms are over before they ever really begin. According to BBC News, In June 2016 a group of Democratic politicians staged a sit in on the floor of the House to protest the Republican House leadership s decision not to hold a vote on two gun control bills. This shows that the house tends to have pro gun rights (Zurcher, 1). Demographics also play a part in the pro gun part in the House, as there are more rural districts with higher levels of gun ownership than there are urban ones. The articles also had a couple more reason to why the laws won t help. The filibuster and the courts were other big ways to why they won t be passed or even help (Zurcher, 2 3). Some States have went and made their own laws against guns. Florida has allowed its citizens to carry a concealed weapon. Since this law was enacted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Flowers In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold The significance of flowers in Gabriel Garcia Marquez s Chronicle of a Death Foretold By: Sargun Bhatia Total words: 1445 Gabriel Garcia Marquez s 1981 novella, Chronicle of a Death Foretold, is an investigation into the murder of Santiago Nasar through the lens of a Columbian community. It acts as a broader commentary on the obligations to virtue, duty and honour at the expense of meaningful relationships and rational decision making. This essay will explore how Marquez uses flowers to represent the high standards expected of them that simultaneously result in justification for their objectification. Flowers are also used to mask and disguise the hollow and often onerous expectations to uphold flawed beliefs on virtue, religion and duty. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This dehumanisation while firstly seems justifiable to lessen the emotional burden, is alarming when considering that women are also given the names of flowers and treated as much. The euphoric imagery and naming associated with these women while seem flattering, in fact objectify them. Such is symptomatic of the role they play within society, where their aesthetics and frailty are commodities that are circumvented by wayward behaviour. The very positioning in the Vicario household of the flowerpots next to the pigsty, with its sacrificial stone and disembowelling table , encourages comparison between the aesthetic, resplendent women and the pigs. The alliteration draws attention to the role of the women and pigs as sacrifices to honour duty and appetite (not limited to the pigs), which pre empt the grotesque imagery and reality enforced by the disembowelling table where the victims are literally torn apart yet are a good source of domestic income . In this way, Marquez uses flowers to compare defenceless pigs ready for the slaughter to women ready to be married. Graffiti falls into the art category. For some people, graffiti is what they do to express themselves. Graffiti is art and shouldn t be illegal. Expressing yourself creatively shouldn t be a crime. It tends to heighten ones perception, hence, perceiving the world through a larger lens. It can cause a deep sense of grief at times but it can also make one feel a certain kind of content. The very exclusive one where the abundance of joy cannot be defined. Valentine by Carol Ann Duffy explores the many sides to love. The entire poem is an extended metaphor that criticizes the stereotypical idea of love. Duffy uses an onion, a very unusual object as a symbol to represent a gift for one s admirer. Pluripotent stem cells are found in the early blastocyst, and can differentiate into different cell types such as neurons, cardiac muscle, or blood cells. As is explained elsewhere on this paper, stem cells are extremely useful and hold amazing medical potential, especially to grow specific cells, tissues, and even organs for patients. Controversy mires the progress of stem cell research from embryos, however, and technical problems exist along with the ethical ones. Marius Wernig and his team of scientists have had success studying a way to get around this, however. What if, instead of taking stem cells from newly created embryos, an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But how did the experimenters know if the cells that they had created were truly pluripotent stem cells? What could these cells form? First, a bit of background information must be included about chimeras. In basic terms, a chimera contains two sets of DNA, both of which are expressed. Different sections of the chimera s body will be derived from different DNA. A good example is an individual with eyes of two different colors (one green, one blue, etc). Chimeras can be formed when two fertilized eggs fuse together at an early stage, or when an unfertilized egg or extra sperm fuses with a fertilized egg. Now the developing organism contains two different genetic codes. In most cases, chimeras are completely healthy. There is no worry of immune rejection, because the cells are joined together far before any immune system exists to reject either. Now, back to the paper. How did chimeras help the scientists identify the pluripotent stem cells they had created? The scientists obtained mouse blastocysts that had certain traits different than those in the intended pluripotent cells. These blastocysts were injected with the potential induced pluripotent stem cells, and allowed to develop to birth. All the induced stem cells were designed to produce Gfp (green fluorescent protein), so if the newly born mice glowed green under ultraviolet light, then it proved that they indeed ... In the end of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Japan was a strong militaristic country that held a strong power and influence in the Asia Pacific region. It was an expansionist and strong imperialist nation similar as the Western colonizers such as England, the Dutch, Russia, France and Germany. The Japanese empire extended from the Dutch East Indies in the south to Manchuria in the north before the country surrendered on September 1945 to the Allies. The Allied Power led by General Douglas MacArthur had occupied Japan for several years before it was fully liberated in 1952. After the occupation, Japan s foreign policy was given back to its government. The country took the opportunity given to repair its relations with its neighbours. Some historians claimed that the reconciliation period was successful through several treaties agreed upon the East Asian countries in the 1960s. However, it was different side of the story when the issue was asked to the Japanese former colonies. A lot of its people will claim that they could not forget what the Empire of Japan had done to them. Hence, it would be wise to ask how does Japan war history would affect its relations with its East Asia neighbours? The Structure And Development Of The Human Skeletal System The Human Skeletal System Assignment 1: Essay The human skeleton provides the internal framework of the human body and comprises of 270 bones at birth, decreasing to 206 bones by adulthood. The reason for this decrease, is that by adulthood, some bones that were once separate have become fused together. Most of the unfused bones in infants can be found in the skull, this is to allow for an easier transition through the pelvis in childbirth. Unfused bones can also be found in the arms and legs, to allow for growth into adolescence, when some of the unfused bones will become fused. Bones of the human body can be classified into two sections. The axial skeleton and the appendicular skeleton. The axial skeleton contains 80 bones and can be seen in the image (01). Rather than criticising our federal system, we should be working to make better use of its advantages in order to improve our prosperity. In particular, the reform of the allocation of powers and responsibilities between the Commonwealth and the States, and reform of fiscal federalism, are desperately needed. (Twomey and Withers, 2007) Twomey and Withers argue the approach of strategic pragmatism as outlined in Wanna s paper. The basis of their position is that the federalism structure is unlikely to be subject to major redesign and the discussion should focus on improving current operation. Commonwealth Government, Budget Paper No 3: Australia s Federal Relations, 2009 10, 12 May 2009, p 7. Federations work best when the roles and responsibilities of each jurisdiction are clear and good public accountability mechanisms allow the community to hold the appropriate level of government to account for the quality and efficiency of the services delivered and outcomes ... Throughout me working with Wal Mart s assets protection, I feel as though equal pay and internals are the two biggest social issues throughout our agency or the store that I work. It is a Wal Mart policy that we must not discuss our wages whether good or bad to other employees because everyone doesn t get paid the same amount. This issue mainly comes into place when people do the same job but get paid differently and coworker start to tell each other about there hourly wage. Many people may not see this as a social issue however it is a social issue and at least to my next issue which is internal theft. They try to make reports saying is if $190,000 is walking out the doors with customers but I know that there is no way that shrinks is that high with petty thieves that walk out the door. Theory of Deterrence Accepting this theory of deterrence apart of internals, can present itself as a role in theft. If there is anything to deter then we know the problem is there and needs to be fixed. So we know and understand that employee theft is real and a method that requires some cognitive skills or plan of a master mind (if done correctly). Because of we really don t know people and their agendas until they are hired and working for the company it is hard to plan and help internals to decrease. A few ways to help deter the best way possible are paying attention to the body language of people around you, keep an open mind and line of communication with everyone about things that go on in the store, also consider everyone that you work with a suspect (so don t become to buddy buddy.) and have more cameras than what you need. • 21. The Learning And Teaching Strategies Many great learning and teaching strategies are presented in the text, How we learn... of which a few learning tactics, namely discrimination, perceptual learning, chunking and interleaving will be briefly discussed as to how they have relevance in my context. To begin we will examine discrimination, the brain s ability to detect minute differences in sights, sounds and textures. [Such is considered]...one of the first steps we take in making sense of the world (Carey, 2012, p.180). This learning technique occurs often during HT training as students detect differences in breathing patterns of those being treated, l see slight tremors or body twitches that accompanies release of stagnate energy and perceived smoothness of textures in the human energy field (Mentgen Bulbrook, 2011). Next, perceptual learning occurs as the brain takes notice of subtle differences in techniques, such as hand positions that seem the same but may not have the same therapeutic effect. Another learning strategy that can be useful in HT training is chunking which is the simple act of grouping bits and pieces of information together to make a whole (or at minimal a segment) of a concept. For example words stringed together create sentences and sentences which are connected formulate paragraph. In the case of HT chunking is necessary as a series of hand movements and/or places equate to a specific healing technique. The final relevant strategy from the text is that if interleaving, a cognitive science ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Burning Of Our House Methodist Highschool(11 4) Valeria Freer Carranza Mrs. Edwards March27th 2017 Reading Response #1 To My Dear Housband and Upon The Burning Of Our House By Anne Bradstreet. At the beginning, I was shocked. Because Anne talks of her love towards his housband, and when I read about the Background of the poem I discovered that Anne got married at the age of 16. Also, the fact that Anne talks too much about God s will in the second poem, leads me to spiritual growth. They had no idea how many people would be interested in the Internet, nor how much the Internet could grow into what it is today. The Internet as we know it today did not come about until 1995. Now, it is said that approximately one third of the world s population uses the Internet, and it is still growing. The dot com bubble spanned from 1995 to 2000 and involved the entire world. The Internet caused an unprecedented growth and speed in business because of how accessible it was to everyone. Many people wanted to become involved because they saw how fast it was growing. The collapse has been recorded as the single greatest loss in the history of the Internet stock market, with a groundbreaking two thirds deficit. Surprisingly, the cause of the crash was because of the companies themselves. Companies began to report major losses in revenue because of the Get Big Fast mentality. This caused doubt to set in, and people quickly stopped investing. Market value dropped by five trillion dollars, and most companies had to close shop. Andrew Beattie stated that from March 11th, 2000 to October 9th, 2002 the NASDAQ loss compiled to a whopping 78% of value. Soon after the initial fall of NASDAQ came September 11th. People had already lost a lot of their faith in the industry, and the national crisis of 9/11 only added to the crash. People were focused on the catastrophe of 9/11, and it proved to be the last nail in the coffin for the stock market. People were no longer investing. Many argue that the dotcom boom and bust was a case of too much too fast. Companies that couldn t decide on their corporate creed were given millions of dollars and told to grow to Microsoft size by tomorrow Andrew Beattie. Aspects of growth While many were angry about the dot com bust, others were grateful. While the crash left many people out of jobs and in debt, the boom proved to be overall helpful. I chose to do Lulu By Alban Berg as a speculative design as it was the play I understood the most, I also wanted to develop my process and craftsmanship skills. After researching the play, I created a scene summery and a character list to refer to while designing. I also created a storyboard of scenes of significance which gave me an idea of who was at the location and what was going on. I then started to develop my characters starting with a group drawing, front, back and side drawings and Photoshop final images. Once I had a clear image of my characters I then started to experiment within my model box for inspiration. Once I had a few ideas I then produced some rough sketches, resulting in a final drawing. I then produced my set on auto cad so I had a good idea of scale and measurements resulting in a final orthographic, side elevation and cutting list. Few people challenged the benefits of the new scientific and technological products and many embraced pesticide use with enthusiasm. In a testimony to the US Senate, Chavez claims the real issue involved here is the issue of the health and safety not only of farm workers but of consumers and how the health and safety of consumers and farm workers are affected by the gross misuse of economic poisons (Chavez, 1969). Chavez s testimony confirmed the warnings made by Rachel Carson on the dangers of pesticide use on human and ecological health. He also claimed it was impossible to identify in government records the pesticides used by commercial applicators. Therefore, workers were unaware of what type of pesticide was used, the quantity, and the risks taken when working within the fields. The inquiries made by Chavez emphasized one of the issues that united community activists, environmentalists, and labor leaders. Activists united around the idea of the Right to Know . Slightly frustrated at first, we realised that the interviews are actually not as necessary as in Être et Avoir on a second thought, in that the theme of Être et Avoir also includes the teacher s devotion to his pupils, while Hackney Pirates is purely about the children s learning experience, which satisfies the objectives of Hackney Pirates; moreover, the volunteer training session facilitated by one of the founders as part of the narrative structure we ve planned can provide essential information of the organisation. The opening Être et Avoir opens with a scene of tough labour work and living conditions in a rural farm, followed by a montage sequence of a classroom with warm and cheerful décor. The warm interior in contrast to the cold exterior emphasizes on the light and positive tone of the film, which consequently helps to attract the viewers attention and keeps them engaged in the following sequences. While they are trying to adapt to that culture, mistakes might happen because of their unappropriated language and behavior.
