Non-Denomination Essay

denomination, the not denominational denomination. In the past couple of decades the rise in non
denominational churches has been increasing greatly and are said to be the second largest group of
Protestants (Moore, 2011). It is said that most that break off and become apart of this fast growing
belief come from a protestant upbringing. The study shows that more people are determining on where

The youth were in a set of classrooms in another building. We finally made our way to the auditorium,
and there were many people in what looked like the lunchroom for this high school. All sitting around
tables just waiting to go be seated in the main auditorium. The band was still working on the sound
details so we were not allowed to be seated yet. The pastors would walk around and welcome
everyone. As I was told everyone was wearing just what was comfortable nothing to fancy, that make
me feel better. Except for the fact that my younger cousin asked me if I was going skiing after church
because I was like one of the few wearing Jeans and a cardigan. After a few more laughs it was time to
make our way in and find our seats. For me at my church I have my side and few aisles that I mainly
stick to every Sunday, so when we went two rows from the stage I was a little out of my element. As
we walked in the lights were dim and the first thing you see is this huge beautiful painting of Jesus.
Then you see the monitors on each side of the stage and then the band starts to welcome us. One thing
about seating that I thought was different was they had ushers and ropes closing sections off. All the
rows in the front had to be filled before the next section was to be opened. Great way to make sure
you have everyone close to the front. The band leads us

The Impact Of Arena On The Beginnings Of The Civil War
First, thank you very much for following the advice set out in my last memo. Through a coordinated
media campaign focussed on clarifying the role of ARENA in the beginnings of the civil war, we ve
been able to secure a small but consistent advantage over our FMLN opponents. However, according
to the research that my team and I have conducted, this advantage is very fragile. While El Salvadoran
voters have communicated to us that they do not blame ARENA for the start of the conflict, there is
more confusion about the role of the party during the height of the war in the 1980s. Therefore, this
memo will be divided into three parts: first, a surface level history of the conflict through the 1980s;
second, potential academic explanations for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Magaña s Presidency took an active and purposeful role in opposing the FMLN guerrillas through
attacks on the group s primarily peasant base and support network. From 1981 to 1983, it is estimated
that at least 18,000 civilians were killed by government forces. Many of these deaths were the result of
air force bombings of peasants trying to flee across the Honduras border or massacres committed by
government infantry groups against FMLN friendly villages such as El Mozote in December 1981.
Paramilitary death squads were also incredibly active during this time period, at one point killing six
members of the opposition Christian Democratic Party (PDC), resulting in a condemnation of the
Magaña government by PDC leader José Napoleón Duarte. The second phase of the conflict,
following the election of Duarte and the PDC in the 1984 5 elections, resulted in a reduction in
government violence against civilians and attempts, although ultimately unsuccessful, to reach a peace
between the FMLN and government. The US backed Duarte, who defeated ARENA leader Roberto d
Aubuisson amid allegations of electoral fraud, became the first civilian President in forty years.
Political murders declined significantly during his administration, although there were still civilian
deaths in combat zones and mass displacement concerns amounting to around 1500 deaths per year.

A recent study conducted by the Forrester Research indicates that U.S manufacturers are dependent on
the benefits of Information Technology to improve the supply chain, improve the cycle time and

Stevens defines Supply chain management as the series of interconnected activities that are concerned
with the planning, coordinating and controlling materials, parts and finished goods from the supplier
to the customer and works as a transporting link between these facilities. With the development of
Information Technology the companies has adapted online communications which helps to increase

A Summary On Parkinson s Disease
Introduction
In 1817, James Parkinson first described a disease, later to be known as Parkinson s Disease (PD) as a;
neurodegenerative disorder affecting the physical, psychological, social, and functional status of
individuals (Parkinson Society Canada Staff, 1965). In the time since the disease was first described,
the frequency of individuals affected with the disease has increased, with no single cause yet to be
identified as the culprit for the onset of the disease. According to the Parkinson s society Society of
Canada, approximately one hundred thousand Canadians live with this debilitating disease (Parkinson
Society Canada Staff, 1965). Not only has no successful cure for Parkinson s been developed, there
has yet to be any diagnostic tools developed that prove any suredefinite diagnosis (Parkinson Society
Canada Staff, 1965). To this point, Parkinson s is a disease that continues to impact a higher
percentage of the population each year, with no true hope being given to those that struggle with the
impairment. The purpose of this paper is to provide a summary of our knowledge on PD to date,
describing the physiology behind the deficits that PD is responsible for, the known causes and risk
factors, the signs and symptoms, and finally any known treatments that help to reduce the impairments
of PD.

Fate In The Crucible
A Twisted Fate
Prompt: A work of literature cannot be regarded as successful unless at its end the main character
meets a fate that seems to be the natural result of what he has done or shown himself to be. Show how
this statement is true in The Crucible.
Every dramatic play has a tragic hero with a twisted fate. John Proctor is the hero of a play called The
Crucible by Arthur Miller. John is a decent man who lives with his wife, Elizabeth Proctor, in Salem,
Massachusetts during the 17th century. Miller writes based on the popular interests of the people
during the 17th century and characterizes John as a persistent man who has pride in who he is. He also
includes values, motivations, and immoralities of the characters in the play. Successful ... Show more

John decides to confess because the judges think he has come to overthrow the court with contempt
and Abigail is successful in making herself seem as though she is the victim of her own deeds. After
he confesses, John encourages his wife to take his lead, Elizabeth, tell the truth! Elizabeth, I have
confessed it! (Miller 113). The importance of John s words is that they reveal one a cause of his
downfall having faith in Elizabeth not lying about his sin in front of the judges. This line is also
prominent because it helps the reader predict John s fate. Since the immorality of adultery is evident
when John is asked to list the Ten Commandments, one can infer that he will most likely be sentenced
to a harsh punishment after proving himself to be sinful in court. The scene in its entirety is intriguing
because it encompasses the climax of the

African-American Gangster Culture
(1575)Racism in American Culture: The Framing of Gangster Culture in the Visual Image of Snoop
Dogg: St. Ides Advertisement (1992)
This media study will define the impact of framing in African American gangster culture through a
visual analysis of Snoop Dogg. In 1992, the image of the Snoop Dogg selling an alcoholic beverage
presents a negative image of a black African American in gangster culture. Snoop Dogg s image as a
gangster rapper provides a popular image that reinforces the dominant white view of black men as
street people that encourage alcoholism, drug addiction, and sexual exploitation. Franz Fanon s (2000)
analysis of framing provides a racial evaluation of Snoop Dogg s image that reinforces negative
stereotypes about black ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Surely, Snoop Dogg s image is one way to misrepresent or ignore the fact that many African
Americans may view gangster rap culture as disdainful to healthy and moral lifestyle, yet positive
images were continually denying black people a positive view of their own ethnic and racial identity
in this type of racist media culture: To stare at the television, or mainstream movies, to engage its
images, was to engage its negation of black representation (Hooks 117). In this passage, Hooks (1992)
is actually defining the complete absence of black representation in the media, but she is also
identifying the severity of racialized advertisements, films, magazine articles, and other white mass
media presentations that frame black people as social deviants. These are important aspects of the
conceptualization of framing that identify Fanon s argument that the white hegemonic white media
continually promotes racially denigrating images of black people as drug addicts, bootleggers, and
gangsters in Snoop Dogg s advertisement

Farmer Saw The Wolf
English syntax makes it a more analytic as opposed to Japanese where word order is not so important
as the affixes of words so reordering of a sentence can still have the same meaning even if they sound
funny unlike in English where word order is the de facto method of easy communication (Freeman
Freeman, 2014, p. 194). In Finnegan (2015), the sentence: The farmer saw the wolf is used to show
how word order can explain why syntax is so important in English; English is an SVO language or a
language that predetermines where words go in a sentence for the purpose of clear meaning, SVO
stands for Subject Verb Object, whereas many languages can be SVO or even VOS or VSO, with the
knowledge that S, V, and O always stand for Subject, Verb, and Object (Language: its structure and
use, p. 57). Latin in the sentence mentioned in the prior sentence would be able to switch the SVO
around to almost any order; Spanish is in the language family of Latin and so The farmer saw the wolf
can be said as El granjero vio al lobo , SVO, or Al lobo el granjero vio , OSV, or Vio al lobo, el
granjero , VOS (Finegan, 2015, p. 57). Furthermore, it is apparent that English syntax, or the study of
sentence structures is synonymous with much of the study of English grammar; Syntax in a reductive
explanation is the study of sentence structure (Finegan, 2015, p. 178). In chapter 1 of Curzan (2003),
theoretically, the evolution of English has eliminated its use of grammatical gender and this has

Athletes During The Winter Olympics
The 2010 Winter Olympic Games are rapidly approaching with athletes from all around the world
getting ready to compete for the gold medal. The winter Olympics are considerably smaller than the
summer Olympics as there are less options for winter sports played as during the summer ones. There
are also fewer countries and athletes competing as some countries don t have these sports or the winter
climate or terrain to sustain a winter sport. This does not always prevent athletes from competing,
however, as proven by the Jamaican bobsledding team years ago. They took strong runners and
athletes from Jamaica and taught them the basics of the bobsled using a wooden sled on wheels. Their

Food Stamps Pros And Cons
Is it fair for the people in poverty and on food stamps to receive more than a hard working citizen?
The government gave enough benefits to the people in the food stamp program so that everyone on
food stamps received 60,000 dollars, while the average income for a hard working American is 50,000
dollars. The definition of food stamps is a voucher issued by the government to those on low income
and is exchangeable for food. The government spends over seventy six billion dollars per year on food
stamps. This covers about forty eight million people in America. The food stamp program is lacking to

Analysis of Tchaikovsky s Swan Lake Essay
Tchaikovsky is one of the most popular of all composers. The reasons are several and understandable.
His music is extremely tuneful, opulently and colourfully scored, and filled with emotional passion.
Undoubtedly the emotional temperature of the music reflected the composer s nature. He was afflicted
by both repressed homosexuality and by the tendency to extreme fluctuations between ecstasy and
depression. Tchaikovsky was neurotic and deeply sensitive, and his life was often painful, but through
the agony shone a genius that created some of the most beautiful of all romantic melodies. With his

Feeding my grandfather became complicated in the later stages of his illness. He found it difficult to
remember how to chew and swallow which resulted in him losing a lot of weight. Tube feeding was
not commonly used in Africa in 1990s when he was diagnosed. He became increasingly frail until he
passed away at the age of seventy three in 1993. He suffered from dementia for three and a half years.
In the first year of my mental Health Nursing degree course, I was put in practice at an older adults

challenging as patients with early signs of dementia have lost their memory and were forgetting that
they had to eat. There was a woman with dementia who forgot the meaning of food and saw food as

Analysis Of Anne Bradstreet To My Dear And Loving Husband
The Depth of Love
An Analysis of Anne Bradstreet s, To My Dear and Loving Husband. Anne Bradstreet s poem, To My
Dear and Loving Husband, is a timeless love poem. The poet expressed her deep admiration and love
of her husband through her gift of writing poetry. The poem is brief, yet powerful. Anne Bradstreet led
a Puritanical life and much of her poetic works are based on her life as a wife and mother. Her love for
her husband, as expressed in this poem, could have been considered a bit controversial at the time of
its writing. Women were to remain quiet about such matters as romance and be submissive to their
husbands. She wanted to live her eternal life, with her husband, as she lived on earth, as we read in the
last line of the poem, That when we live no more, we may live ever (Line 12). The Puritan life
commanded love of God first and above all, however Anne Bradstreet seemed to struggle with her
earthly desires and her Puritan beliefs. The poem is written in Iambic pentameter. Bradstreet wrote the
poem using a form of first person narrative. She also used the literary device of anaphora at the
beginning of the first three lines of the poem using If ever (1 3) and in the last two lines with we live.
(11 12) The tone is very romantic and emotional. The mood is somewhat reflective and happy. It
expresses the feelings of a woman in love. Bradstreet also uses the literary device of rhyming
couplets, with one notable use of the spelling persever (11), rather than persevere, to rhyme with ever
(12). It is possible that Bradstreet used couplets to further indicate the strong bond between a married
couple. Her marital bond with her husband is indicative of the Christian belief that when two
individuals are married, they are joined together by God as one. In keeping with her faith and her love
toward her husband, she states If ever two were one, then surely we, (1). She further exhorts her love
for her husband as her description of their union embodies the very definition of what true, marital
love should be as we read If ever man were loved by wife, then thee. (2). In Lines 3 and 4, Bradstreet
challenges anyone to compare their marital relationship to hers. There appears to be no other

Comparing Mesopotamia And The Indus River Valley Civilization
Mesopotamia and the Indus River Valley Civilization were two uniform civilizations. These two
civilizations shared many similarities and few differences in the social and political aspect of these
two societies. First of all, Mesopotamia seemed to neglect the religious and political side, because
they focused more on their social characteristics. And because Mesopotamia focused more on social
characteristics they had very organized caste systems. The Indus River Valley concentrated their
attention on religious beliefs and social characteristics. All in all, both of these civilizations had many
similar characteristics and a couple of dissimilar social and political characteristics.
Both of these civilizations had a similar government system, they both had a monarchy government.

top of the hierarchy is the king. The king had the post power and influence on others; people thought
very highly of him. The king was frequently the monarch and the high priest. If the god/gods did not
provide for welfare of the citizens, the people often held the king responsible, and deposed him. The
kings that ruled the city states only ruled in their cities and the hinterland that immediately surrounded

The Impact Of Native Americans In The Novel Solar Storms
It is obvious that Americans have had an impact on Native American cultures, but most people do not
realize the true extent of the matter. Many Native Americans lives have changed drastically because of
the careless actions of the Americans and the American government. The novel Solar Storms shows
that Native Americans have experienced only negative influence from Americans. In the novel,
American colonization and industrialization threatens Angel and her family s way of life by

The Americans actions not only altered the land, but also people s lives, leaving many people without

the Native Americans for people to take or alter the land they live on. Angel takes notice that, Without
permission, roads had been built (58). In Angel s tribe, the people are unaware of the construction of
new dams until some random men make their way to Adam s Rib to warn the people. Because of this,
the native people were left no choice but to protest against the construction, even though there was
little hope. After one of the workers speaks, Angel says that, his words made clear that if the
corporation and government had their ways, the Indian people had no say on this matter, no power to

Importance of Religion in A Lesson Before You Die
A Fatalistic Predisposition before Settling In
In an 1973 interview conducted by Forrest Ingraham and Barbara Steinberg, Ernest J. Gaines states
that although he is not devoutly religious, it is his belief that for you to survive, you must have
something greater than what you are, whether it s religion or communism, or capitalism or something
else, but it must be something above what you are (Gaines and Lowe 52). When applied to the narrator
of his subsequent work, A Lesson Before Dying, it would seem that this principle is reflected in the
one thing Grant Wiggins initially holds above himself. I refer, of course, to Grant s anticipation of the

However, as Grant recounts the events of the trial in a degree of detail that suggests more than mere

including details as specific as the type of wine, Apple White (Gaines 4), which prompts the shooting,
as recounted by Jefferson through Grant in third person, to the roughly two pages of direct quotation
that present the defense s closing arguments, we are left with such a complete account of the trial that
it is virtually impossible to believe Grant is not embellishing upon his own assumptions. Yet with the
closing lines of this chapter, Death by electrocution. The governor would set the date (Gaines 9), the
credibility of Grant s implicit prediction is authenticated, leaving the reader with the impression that
since the conclusion implied at the beginning is valid, and since the premises seem plausible, that
these premises must at least be grounded in a degree of truth. From the outset, the marked tendency
for Grant s prognostications to ultimately transpire

The Cultural And Racial Unity Of All Indigenous People
Since 1492, the year in which Christopher Columbus discovered the New World, the Native
Americans , or American Indians , the original inhabitants of these newfound lands, became a source
of dispute and conflict. The terminology of the word Indian suggests the cultural and racial unity of all
indigenous people, but it was not an idea shared by them. On the contrary, a huge variety of
languages, traditions, cultures, lifestyles, existed among the indigenous populations, and had done so
for thousands of years. The unifying notion of Indian gave a label to all natives, failed to recognise
their differences, and became a tool of legitimisation of the Spanish colonisation of these people .
After making a claim of these lands, the Spanish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Following these philosophical and political ideas gave legitimacy to the categorization of people as
inferior and superior races, and therefore the marginalisation of the indigenous people at the expense
of the domination of the white nation . The Mexican state used this European philosophy to reinforce
their claims that the indigenous race was incapable of understanding civilised culture. David Brading
describes the indigenous peasant s lifestyle in the eye of the Mexican white or mestizo as that of
industrious ants , not that of a free citizens of a liberal republic , thus reinforcing their primitiveness
and backwardness. Due to their closeness to nature, the indigenous people were considered an
obstacle to the country s modernisation .
Indeed, progress and modernity were the goals set in the aftermath of the Mexican Revolution. After
most of a decade of armed conflict, national unrest and divisions was born a desire to rebuild the
nation based on new ideals in the 1920 s. While previously the country had been divided due to a lack
of common history, character, race, and language, where indigenous communities resembled separate
countries in which inhabitants did not participate in national life, the Mexican state thought that unity
and cooperation among all races would forge a new and stronger nation. As the

Essay on Deterioration in Long Distance Relationship
Introduction
Long distance relationship, known as LDR is model of a romantic relationship that takes place when
the partners are separated by significant distance. I have been experiencing this kind of relationship
since 10 months ago and still going. As an international student studying abroad, my boyfriend and I
separated within thousand miles between Indonesia and Australia. Although the time different is not
far different and communication device is not a problem, deterioration still appears in our relationship.
Habits and dating style changed create insecure feelings that raise negative perception of relationship.
Fighting and grumpy feelings most likely occur when we are having a bad mood while ego controls
the logic. These ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Believe and faith within each other slowly fades away and changed with ego.
Along with our relationship deterioration, I begin to think about our future. We have been in
relationship for 3 years and this long distance relationship interrupt our romance. We used to be a fun,
joyful, understanding and cool couple. Although, I feel that there is no sign that he would wait for me
or ask me to marry me. Everything is just plain. I do not have any excitement anymore to continue this
relationship because we have no goals. This LDR actually stressed me and I do not want to waste my
time to person who not even has thought about our future. Future and certainty are clearly important in
this LDR relationship. Every serious couple would go through anything to reach their future goals.
And actually LDR is not really a hard matters regarding to bright future. People who have future of
their relationship would have happily gone through any kind of relationship because they already
know that their pain would worth for the future.
# Commitment
In long distance relationship, commitment is required to built a success relationship. Commitment
made relationship grow stronger and also built faith and believe in each other. Without a strong
commitment, LDR would be easy to get deteriorated, in fact that in ordinary relationship (without any
distance apart) the absence of commitment would break up the relationship. My relationship was built

Differences Between Bayer And Monsanto
Bayer and Monsanto recently announced the fourth proposed merger between agribusiness giants
within the past year. However, despite their potential economic success, this deal may prove to be
harmful to consumers. In response to overproduction, forcing farmers to reduce spending on seeds,
large agribusinesses are merging to cut costs. In turn, each merger potentially raises the cost of seed
for farmers, ensuring further production at a loss. Despite these businesses claims to merge for the
purpose of diversifying and increasing growth and research capabilities, lawmakers are involved due
to potential violations of anti trust laws. This article highlights the void of public relations efforts
within this deal. These large agribusinesses are

Zinedine Persuasive Essay
As a fan of our national team, I am proposing that we should go after a manager with style, prestige,
and toughness. Everyone knows that Jurgen Klinsmann tried his best but just didn t have enough oil to
spark the flame for US success. Now the country goes news that the Federation just hired Bruce
Arena, which is a terrible idea. Bruce does not even bring the appeal of a manager. One thing I can say
he does have a good background, but it seems that he will still fail to do the job in the future. Winning
championships in the MLS will not bring this country close to winning the world cup.
We need a beast; we need Zinedine Zidane. A high caliber player in the past and know coach for Real
Madrid who knows the game by heart. Zidane is the type ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

An Reflection On The Impression Formation
INTRODUCTION:
Impression is a long lasting image of a person created in our minds which can last long for years.
There are a lot of research done by Solomon Asch (1946), Bruner Taiguri (1954), Rosenberg, Nelson
Vivekanathan (1968) to understand Impression Formation. According to Solomon Asch (1946) at a
glance of any person an impression of his personality can instantly form. Even by looking or talking
with that person a whole story about his entire character can be told. These impressions can be formed
quickly and easily which can enhance or distress our opinion on a person. Our ongoing observations
can t be change but we can neglect it. Even it is known that this process is not perfect but sometimes it
can be extremely sensitive. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There has been different studies that shows that skills of impression management work effectively. It
even helps in creating optimistic first impression of a person but it also cannot be true always. For
example, it s not always necessary that good first impression of a student (intelligent) on the first day
of school would be same, it can vary or change according to his performance in the class.
The question is why there is always different character in a person. And even when they have same
character what make them different from each other. According to Solomon Asch (1946) every
individual have different characteristics. For example, a person can have different characteristics like
he/she is intelligent, energetic, have great sense of humor, is very fast in his work, courageous,
punctual and humble with his fellows. This can create an impression of that person in our mind. A
combination of a person character make an impression of him/her on others. But the main question
asked by Solomon Asch (1946) We ask: How do the several characteristics function together to
produce an impression of one person? What principles regulate this process?
According to Asch (1946) the variety and way to which one goes elsewhere form the first information
given by the trait is variable but some traits have much more

Egotism Mean To Me
Concerning the discussion of ethics that have resulted in the many schools of reasoning from Egotism
to Consequentialism, to the idea of the golden mean to me are simply the efforts of a logical species to
stop a descent into nihilism in a world that in truth does not work off of a system of morality.
Arguably the reason that we as humans focus so much on the concept is simply because if the average
person did not have a guiding system of morals society would not be able to exist, and that society is
the best way for our species to propagate, and as such those who have morality are more likely to have
descendants who they themselves are more likely to have morality, and so on. Even babies and
monkeys have a common idea of pack morality in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I personally believe that the greatest benefit to me, i.e the action that will do the most good for me
without harming me in some way at some later point, will be the best action for me to take. However I
do not do this often. For example, from my view of morality I would not have said the last sentence
for fear of the short term benefit of me gaining some happiness from explaining my thought process
immediately being overshadowed by the chance of being ostracized by those who read this due to
them considering me selfish and therefore my position in society lowering, or simply receiving a
lower grade due to the grader disagreeing with my conclusion, which has happened before in the past.
Personally I do not know why I decided to write this despite what I know to be the better option.
Perhaps I m gambling on the idea that honesty will result in a higher social position and cancel out the
consequence, or perhaps I m acting on the nihilistic view that it doesn t really matter in the long run
and it s better to just air my grievances and thoughts than to lie in order to conserve social standing,
perhaps it is simply in my nature. Most likely the latter. People usually have this internal struggle
when doing things, be it consciously or subconsciously and all of their actions are determined by a
complex weighting scale of what is and isn t important to them, the balance of said scale determining
their actions. I find it interesting that this internal struggle happens almost entirely without constant
input in most cases. Meaning that odds are morality evolved before constant thought. Which is funny

Paradox Of Thrift And Its Effect On The Economy
To have an opinion on whether Paradox of Thrift has an effect on the economy you must understand
what is the meaning and effect on the economy. Paradox of Thrift is an economic theory, which posits
that personal savings are a net drag on the economy during a recession (Investopedia). Therefore,
instead of saving during a recession, the paradox states that savings should be spend instead of saved.
This goes along the theory with the government increase spending will have an overall effect on the
economy. Theories go along the line of lowering interest and the same time lower savings rate will
make saving less profit. It this is the case, then people will decrease the amount they put away and put
it instead back into the economy. My opinion

Writings And Techniques In Slam By Walter Dean Myers
Slam by Walter Dean Myers is a book that shows a collection of styles of writings, and different
techniques used by the author. There were many great characters in the book, also. This book is about
a seventeen year old boy named Greg, who revolves around the game of basketball. He lives in
Harlem and attends the prestigious magnet school Latimer in the South Bronx, which is predominantly
white. He leads the school to great wins, even his former school. His best friend Ice starts to sell
drugs, so they drift apart. When his grandmother got sick, his assistant coach became a fatherly
mentor to him. He expresses that the game of life can either be won, or it can be lost. Greg Slam
Harris plays a major role in this novel. Not only is he the main character, but he also learns life lessons
along the way. Slam is the type of character that are round and dynamic, because of all his different

He is Greg s best friend before things trended downhill. Ice is the type of character that is static and

his whole life just to make a little extra money by selling drugs. This quote explains his life, How I m
going to blow with all my people around me?...I know when I feel some real love around me (Chapter
14). They were great friends, but when the drug dealers come into your life, you just have to turn the
other cheek. Ice is a realistic character, because he has emotions. It had to hurt him when he lost Slam,
because of drugs. He contributes to the main conflict of the story, too. While he was selling drugs, it
probably tempted Slam. Slam probably knew what was at stake for him though. He is a symbol that
shows you should not sell drugs, because it can ruin

Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF)
For the last decade, the Army has been actively engaged in the War on Terror. Operation Enduring
Freedom (OEF) began on October 7, 2001 with allied air strikes on Taliban and Al Quada targets in
Afghanistan. Even though United States President Barrack Obama announced the drawdown of
Armed Forces in Afghanistan by the end of 2016, OEF would have lasted 15 years, becoming the
Army s longest war in the United States history (Taylor, 2014). On the other hand, Operation Iraqi
Freedom (OIF) lasted approximately 105 months, beginning in March 2003 and lasted until December
2011 with the withdrawal of combat troops from Iraq (Schifrin, 2011). Between OEF and OIF, over 2

physicians noticed that service members treated geographically proximate to the battle field, improved

Soldiers who experienced combat stress be treated close to the front (proximity), shortly after
evacuation (immediacy) and with the expectation to return to duty (expectancy). The return to duty
rate for hospitals near the front lines was reported to be as high as 80% while divisional hospitals
reported a 65% return to duty rate. This treatment was later described as forward psychiatry and is still
used in combat medicine. (Jones Wessley,

Kahu. Everyone doesn t see much in her; Because she is a girl. But Kahu knows she is special. And

The theme of the whale rider by Witi ihimaera is female empowerment. In the book The Whale Rider.
There is several examples of female empowerment. From both Kahu and Nanny Flowers. For
example, Kahu showed multiple times that no matter what anyone says to her, Man or women, She

from the whole school. She showed everyone that even though she s a girl she can still make family
proud about the Maori culture. Also, Nanny Flowers has shown female empowerment. Because even
though Koro Apirana is the leader of the tribe, he does not wear the pants in the relationship, Nanny

Life Along the Silk Road Essay
Life Along The Silk Road
During the outward looking rule of China s Tang dynasty (seventh ninth century C. E. ), sophisticated
people in northeastern Iran developed such a taste for expensive, imported Chinese pottery that they
began to imitate it in great quantity for sale to people who could not afford the real thing. And in
northern China there was a vogue for beautiful pottery figurines of camels laden with caravan goods
or ridden by obviously non Chinese merchants, musicians, or entertainers. Non Chinese camel
figurines found in Mesopotamia carry loads that duplicate the distinctive appearance of the loads on
the Chinese figurines. So it is clear that by the time of the rise of Islam in the seventh century, contact

stuck their snouts in the sand whenever a gust of wind picked up ... (Whitefield 146).
Camels afford us one glimpse of how this system came into being. The two humped or Bactrian camel
was native to central Asia and Iran and was used as a domestic animal from at least the third
millennium BCE. onward. The one humped camel was native to Saudi Arabia. Physically the two
species share resistance to thirst and to hunger, which probably explains the survival of both of these
comparatively defenseless species in regions too arid or barren to support many predators. They differ,
however, in their resistance to heat. The two humped camel has a long, shaggy coat during the winter
and molts in the spring; one humped breeds have much less hair in their torrid native climate of Arabia
(Oliver).
It is reasonable to assume that two humped pack camels were used from the beginning by travelers
along the Silk Road. Once they got to Mesopotamia, however, they must have suffered terribly from
summer heat. Yet summer was the most likely time of arrival because the several month journey from
northern China usually began in the fall, when the camels were in best condition after a summer of
grazing (William/ Spielvogel 251).
Of course, it must have been evident to traders that Mesopotamia had its own camel, the one humped
animal herded in

Why Should We Be Interested In Stars

Birth of a Star
Why should we be interested in stars?
We should be interested in stars because they produce the factors such as light and energy that stirs
and heats the gas and dust in space and makes life on planets like Earth possible.
To be a star, an object has to have at least about one tenth the mass of the Sun. Any self gravitating
cloud that attempts to become a star with less material would never develop the pressures and
temperatures in its interior needed for the ignition of the nuclear processes that make stars shine. 2

This causes the ball, now a star, to shine. Depending on the mass of the star, they can reach different
types of fusion. Normal stars that have a mass of up to 4 times the sun can only have hydrogen fusion,
helium fusion, and carbon fission. Stars with a bigger mass is classified as a massive star, and they
undergo multiple stages. They start out similar to the normal stars with hydrogen fusion, helium fusion
and carbon fission, but continue over to oxygen fusion, and silicon fusion. The end product of Silicon
is Iron. No star can fuse Iron, it will die. How much gas and dust is collected during the star s
formation determines the size and colour of the star. As time passes by, stars fight the inward pull of
the force of gravity. The outward pressure created by the nuclear reactions pushing away from the star
s core keeps the star whole. However, these nuclear reactions require hydrogen. Eventually the supply
of hydrogen in the core runs out and the star begins to

For me at my church I have my side and few aisles that I mainly stick to every Sunday, so when we went two rows from the stage I was a little out of my element. As we walked in the lights were dim and the first thing you see is this huge beautiful painting of Jesus. Then you see the monitors on each side of the stage and then the band starts to welcome us. Through a coordinated media campaign focussed on clarifying the role of ARENA in the beginnings of the civil war, we ve been able to secure a small but consistent advantage over our FMLN opponents. However, according to the research that my team and I have conducted, this advantage is very fragile. While El Salvadoran voters have communicated to us that they do not blame ARENA for the start of the conflict, there is more confusion about the role of the party during the height of the war in the 1980s. Magaña s Presidency took an active and purposeful role in opposing the FMLN guerrillas through attacks on the group s primarily peasant base and support network. From 1981 to 1983, it is estimated that at least 18,000 civilians were killed by government forces. Many of these deaths were the result of air force bombings of peasants trying to flee across the Honduras border or massacres committed by government infantry groups against FMLN friendly villages such as El Mozote in December 1981. Paramilitary death squads were also incredibly active during this time period, at one point killing six members of the opposition Christian Democratic Party (PDC), resulting in a condemnation of the Magaña government by PDC leader José Napoleón Duarte. The second phase of the conflict, following the election of Duarte and the PDC in the 1984 5 elections, resulted in a reduction in government violence against civilians and attempts, although ultimately unsuccessful, to reach a peace between the FMLN and government. The US backed Duarte, who defeated ARENA leader Roberto d Aubuisson amid allegations of electoral fraud, became the first civilian President in forty years. Political murders declined significantly during his administration, although there were still civilian deaths in combat zones and mass displacement concerns amounting to around 1500 deaths per year. In 1992, the image of the Snoop Dogg selling an alcoholic beverage presents a negative image of a black African American in gangster culture. Snoop Dogg s image as a gangster rapper provides a popular image that reinforces the dominant white view of black men as street people that encourage alcoholism, drug addiction, and sexual exploitation. • 10. Farmer Saw The Wolf English syntax makes it a more analytic as opposed to Japanese where word order is not so important as the affixes of words so reordering of a sentence can still have the same meaning even if they sound funny unlike in English where word order is the de facto method of easy communication (Freeman Freeman, 2014, p. 194). In Finnegan (2015), the sentence: The farmer saw the wolf is used to show how word order can explain why syntax is so important in English; English is an SVO language or a language that predetermines where words go in a sentence for the purpose of clear meaning, SVO stands for Subject Verb Object, whereas many languages can be SVO or even VOS or VSO, with the knowledge that S, V, and O always stand for Subject, Verb, and Object (Language: its structure and use, p. 57). Latin in the sentence mentioned in the prior sentence would be able to switch the SVO around to almost any order; Spanish is in the language family of Latin and so The farmer saw the wolf can be said as El granjero vio al lobo , SVO, or Al lobo el granjero vio , OSV, or Vio al lobo, el granjero , VOS (Finegan, 2015, p. 57). Furthermore, it is apparent that English syntax, or the study of sentence structures is synonymous with much of the study of English grammar; Syntax in a reductive explanation is the study of sentence structure (Finegan, 2015, p. 178). • 16. Analysis Of Anne Bradstreet To My Dear And Loving Husband The Depth of Love An Analysis of Anne Bradstreet s, To My Dear and Loving Husband. Anne Bradstreet s poem, To My Dear and Loving Husband, is a timeless love poem. The poet expressed her deep admiration and love of her husband through her gift of writing poetry. The poem is brief, yet powerful. Anne Bradstreet led a Puritanical life and much of her poetic works are based on her life as a wife and mother. Her love for her husband, as expressed in this poem, could have been considered a bit controversial at the time of its writing. Women were to remain quiet about such matters as romance and be submissive to their husbands. She wanted to live her eternal life, with her husband, as she lived on earth, as we read in the last line of the poem, That when we live no more, we may live ever (Line 12). The Puritan life commanded love of God first and above all, however Anne Bradstreet seemed to struggle with her earthly desires and her Puritan beliefs. The poem is written in Iambic pentameter. Bradstreet wrote the poem using a form of first person narrative. She also used the literary device of anaphora at the beginning of the first three lines of the poem using If ever (1 3) and in the last two lines with we live. (11 12) The tone is very romantic and emotional. The mood is somewhat reflective and happy. It expresses the feelings of a woman in love. Bradstreet also uses the literary device of rhyming couplets, with one notable use of the spelling persever (11), rather than persevere, to rhyme with ever (12). It is possible that Bradstreet used couplets to further indicate the strong bond between a married couple. Her marital bond with her husband is indicative of the Christian belief that when two individuals are married, they are joined together by God as one. In keeping with her faith and her love toward her husband, she states If ever two were one, then surely we, (1). She further exhorts her love for her husband as her description of their union embodies the very definition of what true, marital love should be as we read If ever man were loved by wife, then thee. (2). In Lines 3 and 4, Bradstreet challenges anyone to compare their marital relationship to hers. There appears to be no other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From Grant s description of his aunt and Miss Emma s thoughts, perceptions and behavior in the courtroom, to his exacting portrayal of Jefferson s story, including details as specific as the type of wine, Apple White (Gaines 4), which prompts the shooting, as recounted by Jefferson through Grant in third person, to the roughly two pages of direct quotation that present the defense s closing arguments, we are left with such a complete account of the trial that it is virtually impossible to believe Grant is not embellishing upon his own assumptions. Yet with the closing lines of this chapter, Death by electrocution. The governor would set the date (Gaines 9), the credibility of Grant s implicit prediction is authenticated, leaving the reader with the impression that since the conclusion implied at the beginning is valid, and since the premises seem plausible, that these premises must at least be grounded in a degree of truth. The Cultural And Racial Unity Of All Indigenous People Since 1492, the year in which Christopher Columbus discovered the New World, the Native Americans , or American Indians , the original inhabitants of these newfound lands, became a source of dispute and conflict. The terminology of the word Indian suggests the cultural and racial unity of all indigenous people, but it was not an idea shared by them. On the contrary, a huge variety of languages, traditions, cultures, lifestyles, existed among the indigenous populations, and had done so for thousands of years. The unifying notion of Indian gave a label to all natives, failed to recognise their differences, and became a tool of legitimisation of the Spanish colonisation of these people . After making a claim of these lands, the Spanish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Following these philosophical and political ideas gave legitimacy to the categorization of people as inferior and superior races, and therefore the marginalisation of the indigenous people at the expense of the domination of the white nation . The Mexican state used this European philosophy to reinforce their claims that the indigenous race was incapable of understanding civilised culture. David Brading describes the indigenous peasant s lifestyle in the eye of the Mexican white or mestizo as that of industrious ants , not that of a free citizens of a liberal republic , thus reinforcing their primitiveness and backwardness. Due to their closeness to nature, the indigenous people were considered an obstacle to the country s modernisation . Indeed, progress and modernity were the goals set in the aftermath of the Mexican Revolution. After most of a decade of armed conflict, national unrest and divisions was born a desire to rebuild the nation based on new ideals in the 1920 s. While previously the country had been divided due to a lack of common history, character, race, and language, where indigenous communities resembled separate countries in which inhabitants did not participate in national life, the Mexican state thought that unity and cooperation among all races would forge a new and stronger nation. I have been experiencing this kind of relationship since 10 months ago and still going. Although, I feel that there is no sign that he would wait for me or ask me to marry me. Everything is just plain. I do not have any excitement anymore to continue this relationship because we have no goals. This LDR actually stressed me and I do not want to waste my time to person who not even has thought about our future. Future and certainty are clearly important in this LDR relationship. Every serious couple would go through anything to reach their future goals. And actually LDR is not really a hard matters regarding to bright future. • 24. An Reflection On The Impression Formation INTRODUCTION: Impression is a long lasting image of a person created in our minds which can last long for years. There are a lot of research done by Solomon Asch (1946), Bruner Taiguri (1954), Rosenberg, Nelson Vivekanathan (1968) to understand Impression Formation. According to Solomon Asch (1946) at a glance of any person an impression of his personality can instantly form. Even by looking or talking with that person a whole story about his entire character can be told. These impressions can be formed quickly and easily which can enhance or distress our opinion on a person. Our ongoing observations can t be change but we can neglect it. Even it is known that this process is not perfect but sometimes it can be extremely sensitive. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There has been different studies that shows that skills of impression management work effectively. It even helps in creating optimistic first impression of a person but it also cannot be true always. For example, it s not always necessary that good first impression of a student (intelligent) on the first day of school would be same, it can vary or change according to his performance in the class. The question is why there is always different character in a person. And even when they have same character what make them different from each other. According to Solomon Asch (1946) every individual have different characteristics. For example, a person can have different characteristics like he/she is intelligent, energetic, have great sense of humor, is very fast in his work, courageous, punctual and humble with his fellows. This can create an impression of that person in our mind. A combination of a person character make an impression of him/her on others. But the main question asked by Solomon Asch (1946) We ask: How do the several characteristics function together to produce an impression of one person? What principles regulate this process? According to Asch (1946) the variety and way to which one goes elsewhere form the first information given by the trait is variable but some traits have much more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Egotism Mean To Me Concerning the discussion of ethics that have resulted in the many schools of reasoning from Egotism to Consequentialism, to the idea of the golden mean to me are simply the efforts of a logical species to stop a descent into nihilism in a world that in truth does not work off of a system of morality. Arguably the reason that we as humans focus so much on the concept is simply because if the average person did not have a guiding system of morals society would not be able to exist, and that society is the best way for our species to propagate, and as such those who have morality are more likely to have descendants who they themselves are more likely to have morality, and so on. I personally believe that the greatest benefit to me, i.e the action that will do the most good for me without harming me in some way at some later point, will be the best action for me to take. However I do not do this often. For example, from my view of morality I would not have said the last sentence for fear of the short term benefit of me gaining some happiness from explaining my thought process immediately being overshadowed by the chance of being ostracized by those who read this due to them considering me selfish and therefore my position in society lowering, or simply receiving a lower grade due to the grader disagreeing with my conclusion, which has happened before in the past. Personally I do not know why I decided to write this despite what I know to be the better option. Perhaps I m gambling on the idea that honesty will result in a higher social position and cancel out the consequence, or perhaps I m acting on the nihilistic view that it doesn t really matter in the long run and it s better to just air my grievances and thoughts than to lie in order to conserve social standing, perhaps it is simply in my nature. Most likely the latter. People usually have this internal struggle when doing things, be it consciously or subconsciously and all of their actions are determined by a complex weighting scale of what is and isn t important to them, the balance of said scale determining their actions. I find it interesting that this internal struggle happens almost entirely without constant input in most cases. Meaning that odds are morality evolved before constant thought. Which is funny ... And in northern China there was a vogue for beautiful pottery figurines of camels laden with caravan goods or ridden by obviously non Chinese merchants, musicians, or entertainers. The two humped or Bactrian camel was native to central Asia and Iran and was used as a domestic animal from at least the third millennium BCE. onward. The one humped camel was native to Saudi Arabia. Physically the two species share resistance to thirst and to hunger, which probably explains the survival of both of these comparatively defenseless species in regions too arid or barren to support many predators. They differ, however, in their resistance to heat. The two humped camel has a long, shaggy coat during the winter and molts in the spring; one humped breeds have much less hair in their torrid native climate of Arabia (Oliver). It is reasonable to assume that two humped pack camels were used from the beginning by travelers along the Silk Road. Once they got to Mesopotamia, however, they must have suffered terribly from summer heat. Yet summer was the most likely time of arrival because the several month journey from northern China usually began in the fall, when the camels were in best condition after a summer of grazing (William/ Spielvogel 251). • 31. Why Should We Be Interested In Stars Alena Calma PCS181 Birth of a Star Why should we be interested in stars? We should be interested in stars because they produce the factors such as light and energy that stirs and heats the gas and dust in space and makes life on planets like Earth possible. To be a star, an object has to have at least about one tenth the mass of the Sun. Any self gravitating cloud that attempts to become a star with less material would never develop the pressures and temperatures in its interior needed for the ignition of the nuclear processes that make stars shine. 2 Brown dwarfs/failed stars Objects that have less than one tenth of the mass of the sun exist but they cannot sustain light for too long. They start out similar to the normal stars with hydrogen fusion, helium fusion and carbon fission, but continue over to oxygen fusion, and silicon fusion. The end product of Silicon is Iron. No star can fuse Iron, it will die. How much gas and dust is collected during the star s formation determines the size and colour of the star.
