Advantages Of Takaful
Takaful business was established based on Takaful Act 1984 as a guideline and reference for the
operation of takaful to companies. According to the Act, there are two groups of takaful business
which are family solidarity business and general business. Family solidarity business concerns with
solidarity certificates that include any type of takaful business carried on as incidental only to the
operator s other solidarity business while general business is all takaful business which is not
family solidarity business (Malaysia, Takaful Act 1984). Basically, the general takaful is same like
conventional insurancewhich focus on coverage against material loss and damage such as natural
disasters while family takaful is more on life insurance that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Obstacles to achieve higher market penetration of takaful are because of lack of players, market
awareness, lack of products, low capitalisation of takaful companies, poor culture of consumer
education and inconsistent messages from some Shariah advisories (Parker, 2006). Competitive
advantages of takaful are on the unique offerings and follow the Shariah compliance that should be
utilised by the Malaysian takaful operators.
Research methodology used for this paper is on literature review on a few articles in the scope of
takaful. The main focus on these articles is on the marketing strategies that can be used to promote
the takaful insurance by understanding the costumers behaviours to create awareness. These
analyses are emphasised more on the family takaful insurance in the takaful industry.
Due to lack of awareness of Malaysians on takaful insurance and its products offerings and also low
of market penetration, the best method is by analysing the purchase intention and also
participations behaviours of potential customers. Empirical researches have been conducted to
investigate the behaviours of these customers and further give recommendations to takaful
operators and takaful marketers to conduct appropriate marketing plan to these potential customers

Nuclear Bomb Argument Analysis
There are many problems in the world as many know, but the circumstances and severity are not
always completely acknowledged. Not everyone in this generation is invested in the world
surrounding them, and it is truly concerning. To some, conflicts are not considered entirely until
they are present where they are. Specifically, this generation s main concern revolves around
terrorism, as its presence has been endured frequently throughout this generation. However, one of
the more longstanding threats which were used over the course of history are nuclear bombs. The
concern for nuclear bombs has not been at the front of people s minds in this generation, and it is
just one circumstance that people should be aware of. In the article Iran deal... Show more content

At the start of the article, the author was very straight forward and asserted the concerns at hand.
The author does not hold back the truth and directly declared Iran s dangers to show how much
of a threat Iran poses. To reveal Iran s power the author simulates fear from the audience
especially in the quote that states, One of the most pressing foreign policy challenges facing the
world: concerns that Iran could be building a nuclear bomb. As the author was so straight
forward as he revealed the downright possibility of a catastrophic bomb, it initiates fear in any
reader s mind. Also, because this line was used only in the second sentence, it was effective in
asserting a deep rooted problem at hand, and was also quite intimidating. As the author revealed
that this threat of a nuclear bomb is only a possibility, the uncertainty of Iran s true intentions also
spawns an unease. Any kind of threat as this is alarming even if its authenticity is invalid,
especially when it is revealed in such a forthright manner. It is truly frightening that something as
powerful as a nuclear bomb, could potentially obliterate a large fraction of some place in the world.
The author also incorporated different facts of the deal that were added to entice the audience. Later
on in the article the author states, Nonetheless this deal is better than the

Fukushima In The Pacific Ocean Essay
Fukushima is poisoning the Pacific Ocean as we speak with radioactive materials. March 11,
2011 a 9.1 magnitude earthquake hit Japan and it s the largest earthquake ever to hit Japan.
Several nuclear reactors in Fukushima were damage by the 30 foot tsunami wave that was caused
by the earthquake. Surprisingly, seaborne radiation from Japan s Fukushima nuclear catastrophe
has been identified on the West Coast of the United States. Cesium 134, the supposed unique finger
impression of Fukushima, was measured in seawater tests taken from Tillamook Bay and Gold
Beach in Oregon ( Fukushima Radiation Has Reached U.S. Shores ). So is Fukushima poisoning
the Pacific Ocean? My answer is yes. Shunichi Tanaka, leader of Japan s Nuclear Regulation
Authority, has told correspondents that it s most likely been going on since earthquakeand tsunami
hit Fukushima in 2011. Some of that early released of polluted water really was deliberate,
because TEPCO allegedly needed to dump 3 million gallons of water polluted with low levels of
radiation into the Pacific to make room in its reserve ponds for more vigorously polluted water that
it expected to be pump out of the damage reactors. But even after the incident, scientist had found
radioactive contaminated water outside the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Fleeting of Social Status Essay
Historically it has been viewed that one s place in society is fixed. This concept included the
notion that not only was it impossible for one to move up in society, but also that it was difficult
for one to move down the social ladder. The American dream, of course, promotes the idea that one
can move up in the social ladder. However, many fail to realize that one can plummet from highest
social classto the bottom, without even realizing how or why. John Cheever s The Swimmer,
examines and reveals this problem through conflicts of attitude between the narrator and the
viewpoint character, Neddy Merrill. The narrator conveys the attitude that social status is fleeting
through the use of irony and shifts in time. Neddy s attitude,... Show more content on

For example, Neddy does not remember a neighbor s surgery and does not remember selling his
house. An additional concept of time that Cheever distorts has to do with the weather. The reader
is told that this swim across the county begins on a warm summer day, however, there are
numerous instances where the weather is not consistent with this initial description. At one point a
storm rolls through during Neddy s journey, The rain had cooled the air and he shivered. The
changing weather, specifically cool rain, is not consistent with the journey taking place in a days
time. The reader senses that the amount of time that has passed during the swim could be even
more than days or months, but even years since Neddy began his adventure. The narrator has
contrasted Neddy s fixed time, with reality s time moving forward in order to show that life can
pass us by.
Neddy Merrill, on the other hand has a completely different attitude toward social status. The
whole point of Neddy s swim is an attempt to prove that he is still an important figure in society. He
was not a practical joker nor was he a fool but he was determinedly original and had a vague and
modest idea of himself as a legendary figure. Neddy is clearly in denial and does not accept the fact
that he is no longer the important, wealthy man he once was. This point is made painfully apparent
when Neddy swims through the Halloran residence. Mrs. Halloran bluntly states that they had
heard of his

Access is a computerized Database Management System (DBMS) that enables you to store,
retrieve, analyze, and print information. It is a system for managing large amounts of data.
Companies use databases for many purposes: to manage customer files, to track orders and
inventories, and for marketing purposes. An individual might set up a data base to track household
expenses or manage a list of family, friends, and business addresses. Teachers often set up a
database to track students grades ad other class information. A database enables the user to access

Winston Churchill
Do you ever wonder who led Great Britain through World War II? Well, his name is Winston
Churchill. Winston Churchill entered the Royal Military College of Sandhurst, and graduated with
honors in December of 1894. After being elected to Parliament at age twenty five, he went on to be
First Lord of the Admiralty, Minister of Munitions, Chancellor of the Exchequer, and Prime
Minster. Historians widely attribute Churchill with being the greatest statesman of the 20th century.
He is also considered to be one of the greatest leaders of Great Britain ever. During World War II,

To prove this, he tirelessly travelled to military positions and installations. Once there, he would
conduct inspections, boost morale, and support commanders. He was a very passionate leader. Sir
Martin Gilbert wrote, It was Churchill s own opposition to all forms of defeatism that marked out
the first six months of his war premiership and establish the nature and pattern of his war
leadership. [3]
In conclusion, Winston Churchill was a remarkably humble man. He always refused to take the
credit he deserved for his leadership. When cheered at the demise of Nazi Germany, he responded, I
have never accepted what many people have kindly said, namely that I inspired the nation. It was
a nation and race dwelling all round that had the lion heart. I had the luck to be called upon to give
the roar. [4] He was the lion who roared when the British Empire needed him most.

Sometimes directors and officers of closely held corporations that have acted fraudulently or

minority shareholders. Shareholder oppression occurs when the majority shareholders in a
corporation take action that unfairly prejudices the minority. It most commonly occurs in close
corporations because the lack of a public market for shares leaves minority shareholders particularly
vulnerable, since minority shareholders cannot escape mistreatment by selling their stock and
exiting the corporation.10The majority shareholders may harm the economic interests of the

Financing and Structuring Health Care
Financing and Structuring Health Care
(1) Three main types of Health Insurance:
The three major types of health insurance available in the US are Health Maintenance
Organizations HMOs, Point of Service plans POS, Preferred Provider Organizations PPOs. (Health
Insurance Coverage, 2010) All the three coverage options come under managed care plans wherein
the health insurers collaborate with healthcare providers to build networks. HMOs offer the most
economical health insurance coverage, however their plans are not always flexible. As they come
under HMO purview the insured has to pay monthly premium while the co payments are
relatively low for hospital and subsequent office visits. When an insured belongs to an HMO,
there is a restriction to visit doctors within his network only and any failure will entail footing the
bill by the insured himself. Prior to visiting Specialist Doctors, HMOs often need the insured to get
referrals. Even visiting the Emergency Room needs approval if one belongs to an HMO. (Health
Insurance Coverage, 2010)
Nevertheless HMOs fixed rates encourage them to offer outstanding coverage for health
improvement as well as preventive care services. POS plans are comparable to HMOs on the
aspect that their domain is healthcare networks. In case the insured primary care doctor refers him
to a doctor outside the network, the insurance company will honor major part of the bill. Also, if
the insured refers himself to a doctor outside his network, the

Obstructive Sleep Apnea ( Osa ) Essay
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a major health problem, as more than 22 million adults in the
U.S suffer from OSA.1 The prevalence of moderate to severe OSA in older adults aged 65 and
over is twice as high as that in middle aged adults.2 Unfortunately, estimates suggest that 85% of
individuals with moderate to severe OSA remain undiagnosed.3 Individuals with untreated
moderate to severe OSA are at a greater risk for depression (DEP), mild cognitive impairment
(MCI), and dementia compared to individuals with no OSA. In OSA, repetitive intracranial
blood flow surges during apneic episodes cause disturbances in microvascular functions,
resulting in hypoperfusion4 6 and poor cerebral vasomotor reactivity.7 9 Hypoxemia promotes
the development of cerebral small vessel disease (C SVD).10 13 Repeated rapid alternations
between hypoxia and reoxygenation cause oxidative stress,14,15 which alters blood brain barrier
functions and leads to the formation of C SVD.16 18 The consequences of C SVD are 1)
disruption of neuronal activity in regions involved in the regulation of mood and cognition
11,19,20 and 2) reduction of prefrontal and frontal lobe vascular perfusion,10,21 23 which causes
neuronal metabolic deficiencies that may lead to synaptic loss and neuronal damage.24,25 The
progression of C SVD is now known to be associated with new onset depression,26 MCI,27,28 and
an increased risk for dementia.27,29,30 Based on this supporting evidence, we hypothesize that C

The products of interest within this experiment are 2 methyl 1 butene and 2 methyl 2 butene
from sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid catalyzed dehydration of 2 methyl 2 butanol. The
reaction mixture was then separated into its separate alkene components by steam distillation
and then analyzed by gas chromatography (GC), Infrared Radiation (IR) spectroscopy, and
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) imaging. Gas chromatography is an analytical technique
that is able to characterize if specific compounds exist in a reaction mixture, even if they are in
low quantities, assess how much of a compound exists within a reaction mixture relative to other
components within the sample, and determine the purity of an isolated product. In the case of
this experiment, gas chromatography is used to analyze how pure the alkene reaction sample
was and if any remnants of impurities or 2 methyl 2 butanol remained in the sample after
isolation of alkene components. Results and Discussion Mass (g) Alcohol (Before dehydration)

resulting in a 28.4% yield. Even with this relatively small yield, the reaction still went to
completion as indicated by the GC results in Figure 2. This is known because there is no presence
of 2 methyl 1 butanol within the GC spectra. Only the two desired alkene products with

It was the primary pastime of families. The music was original and they were proud of it. The
Cajuns sang from the heart, and that is what made the music the best and only one of its kind. They
expressed their love, joy, pain, and grief through song. Playing the accordion was an important
accompaniment to their singing. This instrument gave Cajun music its remarkable sound and beat.
French songs sung by the Cajuns many times reflected their language. Slang phrases such as ?oh

were sung. One particular phrase used most often in French love songs was ?oh, petite ch

Acadiana in the 1920?s and 1930?s were ?J?ai Pass #233; Devant ta Porte,? (I Passed in Front of

Chemical Evaluation Of Zinc Effects At 5 Ht1ar And...
Our present study represents a further pharmacological evaluation of zinc effects at 5 HT1AR
and serotonin neurotransmission in the context of zinc antidepressant like activity. Since the
role of postsynaptic 5 HT1AR in the pathophysiology of depression and in the action of
antidepressants is widely discussed in the literature (see [9] for review), our present study
evaluated the effect of zinc at postsynaptic 5 HT1AR in the PFC and Hp of rats after acute and
chronic zinc treatments. Neither acute nor chronic zinc treatment induced significant changes
in 5 HT1AR mRNA in the PFC or Hp (Fig. 1a, c). However, chronic zinc treatment increased
protein levels of 5 HT1AR in the Hp by 78% (t=3.137, df=14, p=0.007) relative to control rats (Fig.
1d). Discrepancies between 5 HT1AR mRNA and protein expression levels in different brain
regions have been reported in animal stress models. Iyo et al., 2009 observed increased 5 HT1AR
mRNA level and decreased protein level in the PFC [6]. Our earlier animal studies showed no
changes in 5 HT1AR mRNA in the PFC of female rats subjected to prenatal stress, in pregnant
stressed female or in the Hp of male rats subjected to chronic mild stress [15]. However, 5
HT1AR protein levels were reduced in these groups of rats [15]. Shishkina et al., 2012 [12]
reported an increase in 5 HT1AR gene expression in the PFC of rats exposed to FST; this effect
was reversed by chronic fluoxetine treatment [12]. However, in the non stressed rats, fluoxetine

Airbnb And International Relations
1.Introduction
Bill Gates once famously stated: If your business is not on the internet, then your business will be
out of business. This quote exemplifies the theme of the present paper about Global Businesses and
International Relations.
The following research question will be examined throughout the course of this paper: How can
globalization help to expand businesses today? Airbnb will be used as a case study illustrating the
operation of multinational corporations in order to showcase how businesses can expand into
foreign markets quickly and efficiently .
This paper is divided into three parts, which will provide further information to the previously stated
question. At the beginning, the introduction of International Relations and its role on global
business will be discussed. Furthermore, the role of globalization between global actors with a
focus on multinational corporations will be expanded. At the end, Airbnb will be used as an

The Art And Reflection Of The Red Room
The rich raspberry red blanketed over the canvas is more than enough to entice it s viewers. The
Red Room, made by Henri Matisse in 1908 is and has been a highly popular piece of artwork.
The art piece captured what it meant to be a fauvist artist with its bright colors and unrealistic
appearance. Matisse and other fauvist artists decided to go against what society decided was
normal at the time and succeeded. My recreation of the RedRoom uses the same intensity of color,
line, shape, form, texture, space, unity, balance, contrast, emphasis, rhythm, and proportion to
represent the greatly valued art piece. The Red Room is an oil on canvas artwork that is
exceedingly two dimensional while still showing examples of space. The art portrays a woman
setting up a table within a highly saturated red room. The table and the wall paper are almost
indistinguishable if it weren t for the thin wobbly line that differentiated them. A blue branch like
pattern spans from the bottom of the canvas to the top while staying in the range of the table and
wall. Also part of the pattern are vases of flowers that are additionally outlined in black. On the
table are various circular fruits, mainly in the color yellow, green, orange, and red. Beside the fruit
are long round bottomed vases that are half full of some sort of elixir. The fruit and vases were
common to see in Matisse s work during that period, Matisse turned to a motif common in the
works created that year: a room decorated with

Essay on The Great Gatsby
In Class Essay
To what extent is The Great Gatsby a moral novel. Discuss.
The society our nation lives in today has developed morals and principles through the lessons
experienced from the past. The Roaring Twenties was a time of change and a chance to pave a
path for the person you wanted to become. Morals and principles served as guidelines rather than
rules and were merely preached that practiced. Thus, the severity of the immoral actions taking
place created opportunities for lessons to be learned. In his novel The Great Gatsby, F. Scott
Fitzgerald illustrated various moral lessons through the downfall and corruption of various
characters based on their immoral actions. The narrator, Nick Carraway is a young man who

she flees the area leaving those around her to clean up her mess. Although she may have escaped
the outcome of her actions, Daisy would not be able to escape her guilty conscience. The Great
Gatsby illustrates the consequences of allowing your judgment to be affected by emotions and so is
definitely a moral novel.
Not only does the novel teach us to keep our judgment clear of distractions, it also demonstrates
that one should follow their own path and not others. Firstly, because Myrtle is bored with her
own life she chooses to improve her situation by dating Tom attempting to fit into his wealthy
lifestyle. With the influence of the dress her personality had also undergone a change. (33)
Myrtle flaunts the dress as if it were something of her everyday life pretending to fit into the
temporary life of material wealth. However her efforts to step onto Tom s path of riches and social
class prove hopeless as Tom treats her as merely an object of his desire. Furthermore, in order to

The Artists And Creators Of Violence
The artists and creators of violence in various forms of media have the ability to shape how
people perceive violence as an art. While most people that art is used as a form of aestheticism,
often the creators attempt to send a message through their work. Maggie Nelson explains in her
work, Great to Watch, that the art of crueltyaestheticizes violence in order to invoke a feeling of
guilt as they watch others suffering. People use violence as an art of expression to create a moral
or idea of through their story. Nelson points out that violence is complex and she demonstrates
this with her mentioning of Abu Ghraib which she implies that she wishes violence was true
and simple. She also mentions that the reason violence is used to send messages is because
people often find that being bad and committing malice acts is an easy way of life. She explains
that people find that the dark side and dark emotions take over and being good is difficult. She
explains that there is a pleasure and desire through violence. Nelson reflects on the idea that
people admire the idea of violence and its explicitness and its ability to show that not everything
is as perfect as seems. In her quote, The moral of this dichotomoy is that distraction by banal

that people create in their stories shows that the duality of people when dealing with moral issues,

The Past, Canadian Identity, By Hugh Maclennan
In the past, Canadian identity was dominated by the clash between English Canadians and French
Canadians, and the close ties between the English Canadians and the British Empire. However, with
the gradual weakening of our ties with Great Britain, immigrants from Europe, Asia, and Africa
have reshaped the Canadian identity. Immigrants built Canadainto what it is today. From the
Chinese on the Canadian Pacific Railway to the Irish on much of the work on Victoria bridge, and
the Italians on the Bloor Street Bridge. However, immigrants face many problems when adapting

This is why Two Solitudes by Huge MacLennan should be read by every new Canadian.
On the surface, it may seem that Two Solitudes only focuses on the hardship between the French
Canadians and English Canadians. Surely a novel that every new Canadian should read should not
only focus on two ethnic groups. However, much of the struggle between the French Canadians and
English Canadians can be translated into the some of the problems that new immigrants face. When

Marriott Corporation and Project Chariot The Marriott Corporation (MC), had seen a long,

reports to sell off some of their hotelproperties and reduce their burden of debt. However, the
company made little progress toward fulfilling that promise. During 1992, MC realized that

Common Stressors To International Students Essay
Nowadays, a great many of international students come to universities and clolleges in United
States (U.S). Growing in a different culture, they tend to have distinct problems compared with
local American students. College counselors often need to make some adjustment of the theories
and approaches they use to help international students. The article selected discussed the common
stressors and the coping strategies of international students, as well as the implication to college

international students may assume that college counselors may not understand their experiences

international students less active participation in traditional counseling, colleges counselor could
develop some program to facilitate international students understanding of counseling services and
reduce their apprehension. In addition, college counselors should also make use of other non
traditional counseling approaches to help international students achieve a higher level of

Odysseus Punishment Essay
Punishments follow actions. Sometimes they are not always fair or well deserved, but other times
they are essential to learn right from wrong. In our society, all crimes have punishments; however,
the punishment depends on the severity of the crime. In our culture, it is important to have
consequences following deplorable actions because if there is no discipline for poor decisions it
would establish these poor decisions to be acceptable. In every confrontation there are always two
sides. In the epic, The Odyssey, written by Homer, two evident sides are that of which the suitors

As stated above, there is always more than one opinion. Although some feel Odysseus tactics
were excessive. For one thing, out of the one hundred and eight suitors total not even half of them
participated in shenanigans that kept reoccurring. Not all of them deserved to die. Many were
bystanders, but they still did not choose to leave after being warned. Antinous, the corrupt leader
of the suitors, was malicious, impolite, and disrespectful. He set the tone for the rest of the suitors
and many of the suitors followed his lead. Since they had a cruel, harsh leader the suitors also
acted like this. Lastly, the most extreme form of punishment is death. While suitors were begging
for forgiveness, Odysseus showed no mercy and slaughtered all of them. As stated above, there are
many reasons why a reader would pick either side of this argument.
Omen s are not meant to be taken lightly. Normally when one gives a warning it is best to believe
what he or she may be saying and do the right thing. In this case, the suitors had been warned to

protect the suitors from Odysseus s wrath. After twenty years of trying earnestly to return home,
Odysseus discovers that over one hundred men have been living in his house, drinking his wine,

Sonnet 116 Love Essay
Love is a central theme in William Shakespeare s sonnets, yet the means by which love is
expressed and the form in which it takes differs across various sonnets. In sonnet 116,
Shakespeare lavishes the reader with beautiful imagery of love in its most idyllic form. On the
other hand, in sonnet 130, he adopts a more realistic approach to loveas it is experienced by
everyday people. In both cases, the poet is able to artfully convey the theme of love in its various
forms such that the reader is able to easily recognize and identify with it.
Sonnet 116 depicts love in its ideal form. The poet discusses how marriage brings together true
minds (1). By emphasizing the importance of the mind, he is minimizing the physical attraction

There is no use of grandiose metaphor or allusion; he does not compare his love to Venus, there
is no evocation to Morpheus, etc. In fact, it is the polar opposite as he states, I grant I never saw
another goddess go , essentially making clear that his love is no form of beautiful divinity. The
ordinary beauty and humanity of his lover are important to Shakespeare in this sonnet, and he
deliberately uses typical love poetry metaphors against themselves. Another example of this
reversal is when he says how I have seen roses damasked, red and white, but no such roses see I
in her cheeks to emphasize that she does not fit the mold of classic romanticized imagery. The
references to love affiliated objects of perfection are indeed present, but they are there to illustrate
that his lover is not as beautiful a total rejection of Petrarch form and content. Shakespeare utilizes a
new structure, through which the straightforward theme of his lover s simplicity can be developed
in the three quatrains and neatly concluded in the final couplet. He uses this counter intuitive
method of describing his lover to call out the clichГ© of typical grandiose love lyrics and to further
develop the claim that the love he has for this woman is unique. Rather than being seduced with
perfect femininity, he is deeply in love with someone who does not emulate these qualities.

to them so that they can be able to live their lives in an adequate manner. The disable persons
especially children tend to face so many problems. If the child is deaf then he will have to face

General Approaches For Feature Selection
General Approaches for Feature Selection There are 3 types of approaches for feature selection
namely filter, wrapper, embedded method.
Filter method: Filter method does not involve a learning algorithm for measuring feature subset [6].
It is fast and efficient for computation .filter method can fail to select the feature that are not
beneficial by themselves but can be very beneficial when unite with others. Filter method evaluates
the feature by giving ranks to their evaluation value. In filter method it evaluates the correlation
between the features by using criteria such as, mutual information, maximum length, maximum
relevance min redundancy (mRMR), PCA.
Figure 1.2 Filter approach
Wrapper method: wrapper method involve learning algorithm and search for optimal feature subset
from original feature set which discover the relationship between relevance and optimal subset
selection. It performed better than the filter method. The specific training classifier is used to
evaluate the performance of selected features. Figure 1.3 Wrapper approach

Brand Cannibalization
BRAND CANNIBALIZATION: EAT OR BE EATEN
With increasing commoditization of brands, differentiation is hard to come in every industry.
Consumers are now flooded with options, single company having several brands in same product
category. Positioning, targeting, segmenting can serve as strategies no more. Rather it is the basic
hygiene which any company needs to follow if it needs to sustain in the race for market share.
So, what should a marketer adopt as a strategy? There are unconventional approaches followed by
Multinationals to address the goal of increasing their market share. With consumer demand for
innovation increasing, brand loyalty being a privilege of few companies and E commerce providing
an instant comparison amongst ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While there are two school of thoughts that argue about the same, I choose to adhere to
diplomacy. As it is true for every strategy, in implementation of it lies the crux. There are
examples of brands which faltered in the implementation and ended up cannibalizing for no gain
or for a loss of revenue and then there are these who have learnt to effectively deploy it as a
successful tool. If carefully planned, we even may talk about new opportunities that can lead to
increased sales and market share (Proactive Cannibalization). And if a company does not have a
strategic plan for digital transformation someone else will (Passive Cannibalization).
To exemplify my stand on why the only answer is Effective cannibalization we have a look at
some previous decisions. Taking the example of The New York Times, which saw newspaper
sales plunge when they began posting free online versions of their stories on the internet, it would
not be wrong in calling it as inefficient Cannibalization. But in this case, every other newspaper
faced the same situation since if they did not provide such services, the market share of New York
Times would increase, which was then undesirable. So they rushed and joined the league since
Cannibalism hurts if you eat your own toes, but it s better than starving .
On the contrary, a brand that uses their existing brand reputation to leverage a successful
cannibalization campaign is Gillette,

Outline the Structure of the Main Tissues of the Body.
P2: Outline the structure of the main tissues of the body.
In this assignment I m going to talk about the structure of the main tissues which are found within
the body as well as what their role is in the terms of two named organs of the body. Tissues are a
collection of similar cells that group together to carry out a specific function within the body. There
are four different types of tissue found in the human body which include; epithelial tissue;
connective tissue; muscle tissue and nerve tissue.
The first type of tissue found in the human body is epithelial tissue. These types of tissue are
found covering the whole surface of the body, lining of cavities, hollow organs and tubes. The cells
a very closely packed and are arranged in one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Transitional epithelium is also composed of several layers but is constructive of pear shaped cells
instead. This type of tissue is stretchy, meaning it can contract and expand. It is usually found
lining the urinary bladder as it allows for stretching as the bladder fills up.
The second type of tissue found in the body is connective tissue. They lie beneath the epithelial
tissue helping to connect different part of the internal structure, the cells are more widely separated
from each other then in epithelial tissue. The intercellular substance known as the matrix is found
in considerably large amounts. Within the matrix there are usually fibres which may be a jelly like
consistency or dense and rigid depending on the type, function and positioning of the tissue. Theses
fibres form a supporting system for cells to attach to. The major functions of connective tissue are
to transport materials, give structural support and protection. The types of connective tissue that
will be explained are blood, bone, cartilage, bone, areolar tissue and adipose tissue.
Blood is made up of straw coloured plasma, the matrix, in which various types of blood are carried.
Plasma is mainly water where substances are carried such as oxygen and carbon dioxide, nutrients
such as glucose and amino acids, salts, enzymes and hormones. Also there is a combination of
important proteins which help with blood clotting, transport,

Character In Matthew Riley s Scarecrow
Character is readable because of its virtual identity, which in effect promotes an imaginative
gestalt for the figure (Cohan, 1983). The major difference between a film and a novel is the
increased subjectivity of what a character looks like, how they sound and the area they are
surrounded in purely because it is up to the reader to imagine these things. This essay will analyse
Matthew Riley s international best selling novelScarecrow, and how he introduces characterfirst
through describing the surrounding areas and how he gives certain personality implications of the
character through these descriptions. Then the subsequent physical introduction of the main
character will be analysed, and how that ties back to the personality... Show more content on

Schofield is incredibly courageous, and as a result, Riley has described the surroundings to open
the novel with perfection. Schofield, the main character, is subsequently introduced to the reader,
and the first thing we find out about him is that he has become a target in the greatest bounty
hunt in history. Before the reader can even begin to imagine what Schofield looks like, Riley has
already given the impression that he is a tough man with seemingly a lot of enemies, which would
further suggest that he has lived through an action packed life. This is all before even knowing
what colour hair the man has, or if he is big or small in stature, which is a credit to how Riley has
introduced the character to the reader without even introducing him at all.
Riley then begins to describe Schofield, first of all further expressing the personality of the
character with his sunglasses. He writes, The grey Siberian sky was reflected in the silver lenses
of his wraparound anti flesh glasses. The glasses concealed a pair of vertical scars that cut down
across Schofield s eyes, wounds from a previous mission and the source of his operational
nickname: Scarecrow, (Riley, 2003). While Riley is now describing the physical aspects of the
main character, he continues to imply who the character is as well as what the character looks like.
The reflective silver sunglasses further suggest the courageous, heroic traits of the character as has

The Maiden Of A Clear Sunrise
That same unfamiliar maiden to the Egotistical Lord, who had shared the carriage with had
become friends, though mutual need, more through fate, and throughout the lands as special.
Like the light of the dawn of a clear sunrise did the fair maiden realize the egotistical Lord words
were told true and yet she had shown herself to be foolish to the one she had pledged her love,
spoke of his importance, and yet took his word as a jest and of little truth? The fair maiden anger
at her elder has begun for the breach he has caused. She no longer had her mistral, she no longer
had agreement to wed, and she could no longer be at his side for he now had wish that all
association with the fair maiden and her elder were no more. The elders continued to send
henchmen and spend coin for no other reason, but to use false words and misdeed in the hopes
to force the Egotistical Lord to bend to his will and call himself villain to save the elder from the
fair maiden s wrath. But, alas the fair maiden at her own peril did journey to the home of the
maiden who was friend most true of the Egotistical Lord and demand she write parchment for all
to see that she is to end his quest for her hand, and the elder who had traveled with her wish to

My Personal Strengths
Essay A
Growing up, my parents frequently bombarded me with the celebrated saying: Eat all your food.
Some people in the world do not have any . As a kid, I always shrugged this off as just another
instance of parents exuding typical parental behavior. Yet as I got older, I came to learn how my
parents sayings proved not merely proverbs, but in fact their history.
Having lived and grown up in Vietnam, my parents experienced hardships atypical to the average
American family; food, funds, and fear from their government. They found food a scarcity, and
placing a meal on the table came as an effortful task, so my parents resorted to getting jobs at a
young age. Difficulties from the Vietnamese government during the war also contributed to their
endless struggles. For an example, my dad, upon my grandfather s forced captivity from the
government, became the man of the house, a home with about 500 square feet, for a family of
ten. He took care of the entire family at the age of ten years old. Coupled with all the hardships of
surviving, such factors resulted in an arduous life for my mother and father. Due to their personal
life burdens, they made raising me a priority, thus instilling in me a determination for success and
wholesome traits in my personal character.
In order to guarantee a future filled with great accomplishments, my parents emphasized the
herculean importance of education. At a young age, my parental unit enrolled me in head start,
engaged me in piano

A Day For Celebration
It was the Day of First Song, and celebrations echoed throughout Adiha. Her residents, supporters
of the Church, packed Civic Square and its adjacent streets. The mingling of their cheers and
jeers created a festive melody that was contagious to all. White fluorescent orbs lined every
street and hung from every doorway, fighting off nights impending darkness in recognition of
Aeskar. Elm Tower watched over the people, a bright white beacon in the fresh spring air. And
this was fitting, as it was a day for celebration. A visitor entering the city would likely be swept
up by the crowd, add their own melody to the Katharos songs, and drink merrily through the next
morning. They might even lose themselves in the cities joy, having drained one too many mugs
before stumbling through an inn door. And they would not be judged for their befuddled state, as
it was indeed a day for celebration. It was on days of celebration like these that people forgot.
They might cherish time spent with friends, laugh at their own blunders, and even chance at love.
But the greatest joy of the night was in forgetting the small hassles that plagued everyday life. The
luxury of discarding these weary thoughts, even for a single day, was priceless. AndorianAges did
not know this luxury. He looked down on the crowds from Elm Tower. Shackled by iron chains and
reputation, wishing that for one moment he could forget the troubles that consumed his life. And
so he stared, fruitlessly feigning

Traditional American Family Essay
When the idea of a family life first began, the man was supposed to be the sole breadwinner
while the wife stayed home to cook or clean or take care of the children. A traditional American
family used to be a mom and a dad, with a few kids. However, that white picket fence lifestyle
has become almost abnormal now. Ever since the choices of divorce, homosexuality, even role
reversal have been offered to families things have never been quite the same. In the early days,
divorce was an extremely shameful thing. The concept of for better or worse truly held it s
meaning. A man and a woman would almost never split up, no matter how bad things got. Today,
divorce papers can be mailed and signed with virtually no hassle, making the ending of a marriage...

A century ago, homosexuality would have been a taboo thought. A familywas made of a man and
his wife, with their natural children. With the choice of homosexuality being introduced, people
can now marry whoever they want to and have kids from a surrogate, from adoption, or even
from artificial insemination has greatly expanded familial bounds. A century ago, the man of
the household was the one that brought home the bacon. His wife would be waiting for him at
home with a cold beer or other beverage and have his favorite show on if a radio or TV was
available. Fast forward a century and stay at home dads are becoming more common. Single
parents are almost normal to see, and the woman of the house is now allowed to earn a
paycheck. By giving families a choice in how they want to go about daily life has greatly changed
how families work now. As Pew Research Center states it, Parents today are raising their children
against a backdrop of increasingly diverse and, for many, constantly evolving family forms. By
contrast, in 1960, the height of the post World War II baby boom, there was one dominant family

Essay On Universal Design For Learning
The Universal Design for Learning (www.udlcenter.org) consists of a group of principles that
require all children to receive the same form of education and learning. There are three main
principles which aid in protecting students with disabilities. These three principles make sure that
the students with disabilities receive the same educationas any other studentas well. The following
will explain my opinion on the learningof all children and how the UDL principles apply to this.
By providing multiple ways of representation this allows students to view things through a
different lens. This can also allow for other students to find a way of learning that better suits
them. For those with sensory disabilities (blindness or deafness for example) visual and auditory
learning can be more efficient, but it s possible that other students can find these means of learning
more interesting and useful as well. Representing the material being learned in various ways will
allow for the transfer of the material... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No matter what, a routine is important within the classroom, but outside of the basic routine, it s
important to shake things up to provide different activities to keep the students attention. Some
students work better within groups, and others on their own, so it is very important to make sure
a teacher has a balance of that. This will also help strengthen the students skills by working on
both of these. An example of engagement could be based on a kindergarten classroom. As they re
developing and reaching certain developmental milestones, listening and sitting still is difficult for
them. Kindergarteners weren t made to sit in a chair all day and be silent, movement and talking
are a huge part of the various developmental milestones they surpass. Having activities that get the
kids up and moving can be very beneficial to not only them but the teacher as well because it keeps

What Is The Theme Of Killing Lizards
Killing lizards
All children search for attention, love and acceptance through their childhood. If a child doesn t
receive attention, love and acceptance, in which way can they find the trust to be themselves? They
will be stuck in an uncertain world, where they have no trust in themselves and difficult to evolve
their identity.
In the short story, killing lizards, the main charachter is the 12 year old English boy, Gavin. Gavin
s family moved to Africa to years before the story takes place. Gavin seems to be like any other
common boy, but the reality is something else. Gavin misses attention from his mother, and wishes
that she could pay more attention to him. He is especially jealous of his sister Amanda because he
believes that she grabs all the attention from their mother. That is very clear in this quote. (Page 3,
lines 63 64 he wished she bothered about him more, did things with him as she did with Amanda .)

This is because his father and sister are two rivals for him, in the battle for his mother s love, but
if they die, Gavin would be the only one who receives the mother s love. He is well aware that it
s wrong, and he tries to stop thinking about it, but deep inside he wants the dream to become a
reality. These fantasies are obviously because of a strong Oedipus complex between the child
and his mother, which is evidently seen in the way he wants people to think of them in his
fantasy. (Page 2, lines 31 34: People would look at them in the street and whisper, I don t know
what she would have done without him and Yes, he s been wonderful and They re so close now
.) These fantasies are entirely naturally expectable for a child who clearly doesn t get maternal
attention and love enough, and it is clearly seen in this quote. (Page 3, lines 56 61: Oh. Well I m
going out too.

An Case Study On The Law Firm
The case study has some very important facts that define not only some errors in judgement but
also some very important violations in employment law. This case study is based out of a law
firm that has hired a partner who did not disclose that she had a child and the case eludes that she
is a single parent. Based on the case study the other partner that is in the same office who hired her
is starting to complain about the fact that she had not disclosed the fact that she had a child. To this
end the partner has said that he was upset because she had not said anything about the child when
she interviewed (Walsh, 2013, p. 96). The next issue that arises in this case study is that the male
partner that hired her is not only perturbed about the fact that this new partner has a child but also
sees her as less than him. The partner has started treating her harshly and has started using foul
language around her and has begun claiming that the commitment differential between men and
women and telling her a story about how incredulous he was when a femalepartner who had been
on maternity leave asked about achieving partnership (Walsh, 2013, p. 96).
Additionally, the new female partner was challenged thinking that she was going to be
discriminated against women and children (Walsh, 2013, p.96). This in turn caused her to discuss
her concerns with one of the firms other offices, which caused a big issue with her own office
partners that were entrenched in the firm. The old

Survivor Fan Culture
Posted on an Internet forum, this comment from a Survivor fan demonstrates a key dynamic of the
fan community constructed around the program. This paper investigates elements of the audience
reception of the American reality TV show Survivor (Mark Burnett Productions for CBS, 2000 ,
US), and the comment above raises the central issue I aim to address here. By exploring the show
in terms of its fanculture and examining the Survivor fandomin relation to existing theoretical and
critical work on fandom, I will argue that through online activity, Survivor fans compete with one
another just as the contestants battle against each other in the weekly challenges on screen. It is

Spoiling practices, changing fan/producer dynamics, and new media and consumerist engagement
with the show has produced a competitive fan culture unique in its apparent anti communal and
decidedly negative undercurrents. What I have described as the often conflictual and competitive
nature of this fan culture or rather the picture of a selected aggregation of fans makes sense if one
considers that these fans didn t originate in a traditionally marginalized subculture (as with earlier
conceptions of sci fi fans, for instance). The Survivor fandom is conflictual because the source of
fans interest isn t the show, but rather the overall fractious and competitive culture itself. Fandom
scholarship and research on the Survivor fandom in particular will require continual analysis of fan
participation and online engagement, as dynamics seem to shift somewhat over time. Scholarship,
too, will need to begin more thoroughly incorporating fans use of new media as I have only
conducted surface level analysis

The Constitutional Principle Of The Rule Of Law
INTRODUCTION Undoubtedly, the constitutional principle of the rule of law is one of the
most essential values in the English legal system. It has aptly been characterized as a wrapper
that is placed around a bundle of more specific principles . Interestingly, prominent personalities
like inter alia, Lord Bingham, Jeffrey Jowell and Dicey, have identified that legality, certainty,
accountability, efficiency, due process and access to justice are only a number of those specific
principles which all together constitute the rule of law. Some of these values reflect the formal
conception of the rule of law while others, the substantive. Furthermore, it would be an omission
not to say that, within the absence of a written constitution, the rule of law places a significant
role within the English legal system. The following essay will assess how the courts use the
weapons of justice, to restrain and scrutinize the abuse of the executive power in the UK. The
role of the judicial review process and the principles of: bare principle of legality and principle
of legal certainty will be examined by reference to academic opinion and case law. The
conclusion will be that, although the dogma of the rule of law managed to hold the executive up
to a satisfying level, the principle of parliamentary sovereignty does have the final say. Rule of
Law To begin with, the constitutional principle of the rule of law can be as simple as a set of
theories about what the

Both men and women were healers. Treatment of sickness was designed to restore the patient
not only biologically but spiritually as well. 8 Iroquois Indians The Iroquois Indians consisted
of six tribes which were under one confederation: The Mohawk Indians, the Seneca, the Oneida,
the Cayuga, the Onondaga, and the Tuscarora. The Iroquois tribes were spread throughout much
of what we now call New York. The Iroquois Indians also believed in spirit beings. They believed
that plagues and diseases were caused by evil spirits; they attempted to cure the sick by holding
a religious festival to ask for the aid of their great spirit to rid their people of the bad spirits. They
also believe that disease can infect a person simply from not fulfilling their dreams or their
desires. They believe that sometimes a person s dreams can reveal what caused the disease,
information which they used to cure the patient. To touch more on the basis of the Iroquois
people s belief in dreams (as this was a large part of their healing practices), they viewed dreams
as experiences of the soul in which we may travel outside the body, across time and space, and
into other dimensions or receive visitations from ancestors or spiritual guides . They also believed
that dreams revealed the wishes of one s soul, which would dig deeper, beyond our own personal

  • 2. Advantages Of Takaful Takaful business was established based on Takaful Act 1984 as a guideline and reference for the operation of takaful to companies. According to the Act, there are two groups of takaful business which are family solidarity business and general business. Family solidarity business concerns with solidarity certificates that include any type of takaful business carried on as incidental only to the operator s other solidarity business while general business is all takaful business which is not family solidarity business (Malaysia, Takaful Act 1984). Basically, the general takaful is same like conventional insurancewhich focus on coverage against material loss and damage such as natural disasters while family takaful is more on life insurance that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Obstacles to achieve higher market penetration of takaful are because of lack of players, market awareness, lack of products, low capitalisation of takaful companies, poor culture of consumer education and inconsistent messages from some Shariah advisories (Parker, 2006). Competitive advantages of takaful are on the unique offerings and follow the Shariah compliance that should be utilised by the Malaysian takaful operators. Research methodology used for this paper is on literature review on a few articles in the scope of takaful. The main focus on these articles is on the marketing strategies that can be used to promote the takaful insurance by understanding the costumers behaviours to create awareness. These analyses are emphasised more on the family takaful insurance in the takaful industry. Due to lack of awareness of Malaysians on takaful insurance and its products offerings and also low of market penetration, the best method is by analysing the purchase intention and also participations behaviours of potential customers. Empirical researches have been conducted to investigate the behaviours of these customers and further give recommendations to takaful operators and takaful marketers to conduct appropriate marketing plan to these potential customers (Rahman, ... • 3. Nuclear Bomb Argument Analysis There are many problems in the world as many know, but the circumstances and severity are not always completely acknowledged. Not everyone in this generation is invested in the world surrounding them, and it is truly concerning. To some, conflicts are not considered entirely until they are present where they are. Specifically, this generation s main concern revolves around terrorism, as its presence has been endured frequently throughout this generation. However, one of the more longstanding threats which were used over the course of history are nuclear bombs. The concern for nuclear bombs has not been at the front of people s minds in this generation, and it is just one circumstance that people should be aware of. In the article Iran deal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the start of the article, the author was very straight forward and asserted the concerns at hand. The author does not hold back the truth and directly declared Iran s dangers to show how much of a threat Iran poses. To reveal Iran s power the author simulates fear from the audience especially in the quote that states, One of the most pressing foreign policy challenges facing the world: concerns that Iran could be building a nuclear bomb. As the author was so straight forward as he revealed the downright possibility of a catastrophic bomb, it initiates fear in any reader s mind. Also, because this line was used only in the second sentence, it was effective in asserting a deep rooted problem at hand, and was also quite intimidating. As the author revealed that this threat of a nuclear bomb is only a possibility, the uncertainty of Iran s true intentions also spawns an unease. Any kind of threat as this is alarming even if its authenticity is invalid, especially when it is revealed in such a forthright manner. It is truly frightening that something as powerful as a nuclear bomb, could potentially obliterate a large fraction of some place in the world. The author also incorporated different facts of the deal that were added to entice the audience. Later on in the article the author states, Nonetheless this deal is better than the ... • 4. Fukushima In The Pacific Ocean Essay Fukushima is poisoning the Pacific Ocean as we speak with radioactive materials. March 11, 2011 a 9.1 magnitude earthquake hit Japan and it s the largest earthquake ever to hit Japan. Several nuclear reactors in Fukushima were damage by the 30 foot tsunami wave that was caused by the earthquake. Surprisingly, seaborne radiation from Japan s Fukushima nuclear catastrophe has been identified on the West Coast of the United States. Cesium 134, the supposed unique finger impression of Fukushima, was measured in seawater tests taken from Tillamook Bay and Gold Beach in Oregon ( Fukushima Radiation Has Reached U.S. Shores ). So is Fukushima poisoning the Pacific Ocean? My answer is yes. Shunichi Tanaka, leader of Japan s Nuclear Regulation Authority, has told correspondents that it s most likely been going on since earthquakeand tsunami hit Fukushima in 2011. Some of that early released of polluted water really was deliberate, because TEPCO allegedly needed to dump 3 million gallons of water polluted with low levels of radiation into the Pacific to make room in its reserve ponds for more vigorously polluted water that it expected to be pump out of the damage reactors. But even after the incident, scientist had found radioactive contaminated water outside the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shores . Statesman Journal. • 5. The Fleeting of Social Status Essay Historically it has been viewed that one s place in society is fixed. This concept included the notion that not only was it impossible for one to move up in society, but also that it was difficult for one to move down the social ladder. The American dream, of course, promotes the idea that one can move up in the social ladder. However, many fail to realize that one can plummet from highest social classto the bottom, without even realizing how or why. John Cheever s The Swimmer, examines and reveals this problem through conflicts of attitude between the narrator and the viewpoint character, Neddy Merrill. The narrator conveys the attitude that social status is fleeting through the use of irony and shifts in time. Neddy s attitude,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, Neddy does not remember a neighbor s surgery and does not remember selling his house. An additional concept of time that Cheever distorts has to do with the weather. The reader is told that this swim across the county begins on a warm summer day, however, there are numerous instances where the weather is not consistent with this initial description. At one point a storm rolls through during Neddy s journey, The rain had cooled the air and he shivered. The changing weather, specifically cool rain, is not consistent with the journey taking place in a days time. The reader senses that the amount of time that has passed during the swim could be even more than days or months, but even years since Neddy began his adventure. The narrator has contrasted Neddy s fixed time, with reality s time moving forward in order to show that life can pass us by. Neddy Merrill, on the other hand has a completely different attitude toward social status. The whole point of Neddy s swim is an attempt to prove that he is still an important figure in society. He was not a practical joker nor was he a fool but he was determinedly original and had a vague and modest idea of himself as a legendary figure. Neddy is clearly in denial and does not accept the fact that he is no longer the important, wealthy man he once was. This point is made painfully apparent when Neddy swims through the Halloran residence. Mrs. Halloran bluntly states that they had heard of his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Health Insurance Coverage, 2010) All the three coverage options come under managed care plans wherein the health insurers collaborate with healthcare providers to build networks. HMOs offer the most economical health insurance coverage, however their plans are not always flexible. As they come under HMO purview the insured has to pay monthly premium while the co payments are relatively low for hospital and subsequent office visits. When an insured belongs to an HMO, there is a restriction to visit doctors within his network only and any failure will entail footing the bill by the insured himself. Prior to visiting Specialist Doctors, HMOs often need the insured to get referrals. Even visiting the Emergency Room needs approval if one belongs to an HMO. (Health Insurance Coverage, 2010) Nevertheless HMOs fixed rates encourage them to offer outstanding coverage for health improvement as well as preventive care services. POS plans are comparable to HMOs on the aspect that their domain is healthcare networks. In OSA, repetitive intracranial blood flow surges during apneic episodes cause disturbances in microvascular functions, resulting in hypoperfusion4 6 and poor cerebral vasomotor reactivity.7 9 Hypoxemia promotes the development of cerebral small vessel disease (C SVD).10 13 Repeated rapid alternations between hypoxia and reoxygenation cause oxidative stress,14,15 which alters blood brain barrier functions and leads to the formation of C SVD.16 18 The consequences of C SVD are 1) disruption of neuronal activity in regions involved in the regulation of mood and cognition 11,19,20 and 2) reduction of prefrontal and frontal lobe vascular perfusion,10,21 23 which causes neuronal metabolic deficiencies that may lead to synaptic loss and neuronal damage.24,25 The progression of C SVD is now known to be associated with new onset depression,26 MCI,27,28 and an increased risk for dementia.27,29,30 Based on this supporting evidence, we hypothesize that C SVD may mediate ... The reaction mixture was then separated into its separate alkene components by steam distillation and then analyzed by gas chromatography (GC), Infrared Radiation (IR) spectroscopy, and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) imaging. Gas chromatography is an analytical technique that is able to characterize if specific compounds exist in a reaction mixture, even if they are in low quantities, assess how much of a compound exists within a reaction mixture relative to other components within the sample, and determine the purity of an isolated product. In the case of this experiment, gas chromatography is used to analyze how pure the alkene reaction sample was and if any remnants of impurities or 2 methyl 2 butanol remained in the sample after isolation of alkene components. Our present study represents a further pharmacological evaluation of zinc effects at 5 HT1AR and serotonin neurotransmission in the context of zinc antidepressant like activity. Since the role of postsynaptic 5 HT1AR in the pathophysiology of depression and in the action of antidepressants is widely discussed in the literature (see [9] for review), our present study evaluated the effect of zinc at postsynaptic 5 HT1AR in the PFC and Hp of rats after acute and chronic zinc treatments. Neither acute nor chronic zinc treatment induced significant changes in 5 HT1AR mRNA in the PFC or Hp (Fig. 1a, c). However, chronic zinc treatment increased protein levels of 5 HT1AR in the Hp by 78% (t=3.137, df=14, p=0.007) relative to control rats (Fig. 1d). Discrepancies between 5 HT1AR mRNA and protein expression levels in different brain regions have been reported in animal stress models. While most people that art is used as a form of aestheticism, often the creators attempt to send a message through their work. In our society, all crimes have punishments; however, the punishment depends on the severity of the crime. For one thing, out of the one hundred and eight suitors total not even half of them participated in shenanigans that kept reoccurring. Not all of them deserved to die. Many were bystanders, but they still did not choose to leave after being warned. Antinous, the corrupt leader of the suitors, was malicious, impolite, and disrespectful. He set the tone for the rest of the suitors and many of the suitors followed his lead. Since they had a cruel, harsh leader the suitors also acted like this. Lastly, the most extreme form of punishment is death. While suitors were begging for forgiveness, Odysseus showed no mercy and slaughtered all of them. As stated above, there are many reasons why a reader would pick either side of this argument. Omen s are not meant to be taken lightly. Normally when one gives a warning it is best to believe what he or she may be saying and do the right thing. In this case, the suitors had been warned to evacuate Odysseus palace. This omen was not only to warn the suitors, but it was given to try to protect the suitors from Odysseus s wrath. In sonnet 116, Shakespeare lavishes the reader with beautiful imagery of love in its most idyllic form. On the other hand, in sonnet 130, he adopts a more realistic approach to loveas it is experienced by everyday people. In both cases, the poet is able to artfully convey the theme of love in its various forms such that the reader is able to easily recognize and identify with it. There is no use of grandiose metaphor or allusion; he does not compare his love to Venus, there is no evocation to Morpheus, etc. In fact, it is the polar opposite as he states, I grant I never saw another goddess go , essentially making clear that his love is no form of beautiful divinity. The ordinary beauty and humanity of his lover are important to Shakespeare in this sonnet, and he deliberately uses typical love poetry metaphors against themselves. Another example of this reversal is when he says how I have seen roses damasked, red and white, but no such roses see I in her cheeks to emphasize that she does not fit the mold of classic romanticized imagery. The references to love affiliated objects of perfection are indeed present, but they are there to illustrate that his lover is not as beautiful a total rejection of Petrarch form and content. Shakespeare utilizes a new structure, through which the straightforward theme of his lover s simplicity can be developed in the three quatrains and neatly concluded in the final couplet. He uses this counter intuitive method of describing his lover to call out the clichГ© of typical grandiose love lyrics and to further develop the claim that the love he has for this woman is unique. To exemplify my stand on why the only answer is Effective cannibalization we have a look at some previous decisions. Before the reader can even begin to imagine what Schofield looks like, Riley has already given the impression that he is a tough man with seemingly a lot of enemies, which would further suggest that he has lived through an action packed life. This is all before even knowing what colour hair the man has, or if he is big or small in stature, which is a credit to how Riley has introduced the character to the reader without even introducing him at all. Based on the case study the other partner that is in the same office who hired her is starting to complain about the fact that she had not disclosed the fact that she had a child. To this end the partner has said that he was upset because she had not said anything about the child when she interviewed (Walsh, 2013, p. 96). The next issue that arises in this case study is that the male partner that hired her is not only perturbed about the fact that this new partner has a child but also sees her as less than him. The partner has started treating her harshly and has started using foul language around her and has begun claiming that the commitment differential between men and women and telling her a story about how incredulous he was when a femalepartner who had been on maternity leave asked about achieving partnership (Walsh, 2013, p. 96). Additionally, the new female partner was challenged thinking that she was going to be discriminated against women and children (Walsh, 2013, p.96). This in turn caused her to discuss her concerns with one of the firms other offices, which caused a big issue with her own office partners that were entrenched in the firm. The old ... • 54. Survivor Fan Culture Posted on an Internet forum, this comment from a Survivor fan demonstrates a key dynamic of the fan community constructed around the program. This paper investigates elements of the audience reception of the American reality TV show Survivor (Mark Burnett Productions for CBS, 2000 , US), and the comment above raises the central issue I aim to address here. By exploring the show in terms of its fanculture and examining the Survivor fandomin relation to existing theoretical and critical work on fandom, I will argue that through online activity, Survivor fans compete with one another just as the contestants battle against each other in the weekly challenges on screen. It is this very sense of competition that I will assert differentiates the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Spoiling practices, changing fan/producer dynamics, and new media and consumerist engagement with the show has produced a competitive fan culture unique in its apparent anti communal and decidedly negative undercurrents. What I have described as the often conflictual and competitive nature of this fan culture or rather the picture of a selected aggregation of fans makes sense if one considers that these fans didn t originate in a traditionally marginalized subculture (as with earlier conceptions of sci fi fans, for instance). The Survivor fandom is conflictual because the source of fans interest isn t the show, but rather the overall fractious and competitive culture itself. Fandom scholarship and research on the Survivor fandom in particular will require continual analysis of fan participation and online engagement, as dynamics seem to shift somewhat over time. Scholarship, too, will need to begin more thoroughly incorporating fans use of new media as I have only conducted surface level analysis ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. The Constitutional Principle Of The Rule Of Law INTRODUCTION Undoubtedly, the constitutional principle of the rule of law is one of the most essential values in the English legal system. It has aptly been characterized as a wrapper that is placed around a bundle of more specific principles . Interestingly, prominent personalities like inter alia, Lord Bingham, Jeffrey Jowell and Dicey, have identified that legality, certainty, accountability, efficiency, due process and access to justice are only a number of those specific principles which all together constitute the rule of law. Some of these values reflect the formal conception of the rule of law while others, the substantive. Furthermore, it would be an omission not to say that, within the absence of a written constitution, the rule of law places a significant role within the English legal system. The following essay will assess how the courts use the weapons of justice, to restrain and scrutinize the abuse of the executive power in the UK. The role of the judicial review process and the principles of: bare principle of legality and principle of legal certainty will be examined by reference to academic opinion and case law. The conclusion will be that, although the dogma of the rule of law managed to hold the executive up to a satisfying level, the principle of parliamentary sovereignty does have the final say. Rule of Law To begin with, the constitutional principle of the rule of law can be as simple as a set of theories about what the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. The Native American Medicine Man The Native American Medicine Man| From the Past to the Present| | | | The Native American medicine man, also known as a shaman (modern term), priest, healer, and even a Star Being were known to be the spiritual leaders of Native American cultures. Each medicine man was unique in his own way simply because each Native American tribe had their own origin of spirituality and religious beliefs. Each medicine man had their own theory on how to rid people of their troubles and ease their pain when they were ill or in some sort of distress. In this research paper I will be examining different medicine man practices and beliefs from the Native American tribes of the Cheyenne, Iroquois, and the Sioux Indians. I will be discussing... Treatment of sickness was designed to restore the patient not only biologically but spiritually as well. 8 Iroquois Indians The Iroquois Indians consisted of six tribes which were under one confederation: The Mohawk Indians, the Seneca, the Oneida, the Cayuga, the Onondaga, and the Tuscarora. The Iroquois tribes were spread throughout much of what we now call New York. The Iroquois Indians also believed in spirit beings. They believed that plagues and diseases were caused by evil spirits; they attempted to cure the sick by holding a religious festival to ask for the aid of their great spirit to rid their people of the bad spirits. They also believe that disease can infect a person simply from not fulfilling their dreams or their desires. They believe that sometimes a person s dreams can reveal what caused the disease, information which they used to cure the patient. To touch more on the basis of the Iroquois people s belief in dreams (as this was a large part of their healing practices), they viewed dreams as experiences of the soul in which we may travel outside the body, across time and space, and into other dimensions or receive visitations from ancestors or spiritual guides . They also believed that dreams revealed the wishes of one s soul, which would dig deeper, beyond our own personal goals and those of others ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
