North Korea s Actions Are Crimes Against Humanity Essay
Debates have been swirling around the international community over North Korea s recent actions
considered to be Crimes against humanity (Pearson, Hanna, and Park). When did North Korea start to
have these issues and who is behind the crimes arguably equal to that of Nazi Germany? Was it during
the reign of Kim ll sung or Kim Jong il? Arguments can be made that the crimes did start under the
reign of these two leaders, but the real culprit behind the crimes against humanity is Kim Jong un the
current supreme leader of the Democratic People s Republic of Korea. The issues within the
Democratic People s Republic of Korea start on the top with leader Kim Jong un. Supreme leader Kim
Jong un has provide a bad reputation for himself due to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The U.N. investigation completed this lasted year has proven just how out of control supreme leader
Kim Jong un is. Kim s wild spending habits are proving to harm the people he is suppose to be
protecting while he enjoys the better thing that life has to offer.
Kim has also shown the world how questionable, impulsive, and illogical his leadership is. Just
months after filling father Kim Jong il s role as leader Kim Jong un ousted older advisers who had
been loyal to his father, Kim Jong Il (Harlan). Kim didn t stop there, after ridding himself of loyal and
trusted advisers Kim recently accused his uncle Jang Song Thaek, of opposing his rise and plotting an
overthrow (Harlan). Political experts and people alike see Kim s purge of his fathers advisers and Kim
s execution of his uncle as an attempt to hold all power in North Korea. Hong Kwan hee, a professor
in the Department of North Korea Studies , believes In the short run this kind of action could give
Kim a more strong power base, but in the long run North Korea will be faced by very fundamental
political instability (MacLeod). Kim Jong un in an effort to gain power has ridden North Korea of
some of its best leaders and advisors. Possibly due to the lack of advisors Kim has been known to
handle situations unprofessionally and irrationally. For example do to South Korean

Ocean Oil Spill Essay
There have been many oil spills in the ocean, some big and some small. All of these oil spills have had
a huge effect on the wildlife in the ocean. The oil from the oil rig stays on the surface of the water
because oil is less dense than the water, this causes the oil to just float cause it can t go anywhere else
and it won t mix in with the water. This is harmful in so many different ways to the life in the ocean.
The oil can prevent sunlight from penetrating the surface, which can cause it to be dark under the
surface. The oil also can cover thousands of birds, mammals, and sea turtles. When birds land in the
water they become covered in oil. The oil ruins the insulating and waterproofing properties of the fur
and feathers, and without feathers

Comparing The Medieval Warm Period And The Little Ice Age
Medieval Warm Period and The Little Ice Age
The Medieval Warm Period and The Little Ice Age share a few common denominators. They were
both caused partly by the ocean currents changing, and both of these events occurred in the northern
hemisphere. The Little Ice Age was considered to be harsh , having the winters last for long a period
of times, and the summers cool and wet, whereas the Medieval Warm Period was considered to be a
more difficult time to describe, considering that there has not been much research done about it.
The Medieval Warm Period took place during 800 AD to 1400 AD. Researchers speculate that the
Medieval Warm Period had a higher than average solar radiation and less volcanic activity during that
time period. This same evidence is also suggesting that changes in ocean circulation patterns caused a
change in temperature (cooler to warmer) in the ocean water. This brought warmer currents into the
North Atlantic (Climate Science Glossary).
In this current time period, our planetary temperatures have been far warmer than any record has
shown in the past two thousand years. However, evidence also suggests that some places were very
much cooler than today including the tropical pacific. When the warm places are averaged out with
the cool ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that these results are not conclusive enough to make a general, overall statement regarding
the temperatures during the Medieval Warm Period. However, these results have been accurate for
determining temperatures during that specific time period and at that specific location, giving
researchers a step in the right direction. They will soon be able to determine temperatures across the
Northern Hemisphere, so they can determine the effects of the Medieval Warm Period and better
predict what might occur in the future temperature wise based upon the effects of human and non

The Use Of Facial Recognition Technology On Society
Introduction Developed in the 1960s, facial recognition technology has been used by the government
and companies to identify people by matching them to photos. The data for this software was
originally entered manually, limiting the scope of use. By 2001, the novelty of more powerful facial
recognition technology grasped the public s attention. During the January 2001 Super Bowl,
surveillance cameras captured images to find people with a criminal record (FBI 2013). This potential
invasion of privacy under the pretense of public safety sparked a public debate about what private
information the government was allowed to take from us. So should we be putting limitations on the
use of facial recognition software in America in order to keep ... Show more content on

In effect, people are unknowingly being put in suspect lineups without their awareness or consent.
This can lead to false accusations against innocent citizens. Most police departments still rely on
officers to verify that the suspect chosen by the face recognition software actually matches the camera
footage. However, humans shockingly make an error in this process once in every two cases (Bedoya,
Alvaro, et al 2016). In some instances, it is not only this human error that is leading to their conviction
but rather the system itself. A study, co authored by the FBI, said that the facial recognition software is
actually less accurate when it comes to identifying African Americans. Systems relying on mugshot
databases have a disproportionate number of African Americans due to their high arrest rates in
America. This creates racial biased error rates, that perpetuate implicit and systemic racism in our
society (Bedoya, Alvaro, et al 2016). But for American citizens in general, in any crime being solved
by using face databases, anyone is a potential suspect. Because of this, regulations should be put in
place to limit the use of this technology to cases where its use is relevant and vital to solving the issue.
Social Media Another common and inappropriate use of facial recognition technology exists in many
social media platforms and systems. In the current social media domain,

Importance Of Volunteering In A Community
There are various jobs for volunteers at the Ontario Early Years Center. While volunteering, my job
was to organize, prepare and conduct the programs in the Ontario Early Years Center such as fun with
paint, family time and baby time. I played with kids and ensuring they had a good and enjoyable time.
Also, I helped kids learn their alphabet and numbers and assist them with puzzles and games. I created
an open and inviting environment by being kind and positive around families. In addition, I helped out
with events like fundraising events and holiday parties where we help kids with crafts and hand out
foods for everyone to eat. I assist the staff members with anything they need and I manage the front
desk. After completing my duty satisfied, inspired, included, involved and fulfilled because I am more
involved in the community and hopefully I made a tremendous impact on people s lives. I feel
fulfilled and satisfied because it s heartwarming to know I made a positive difference in my
community and in individuals. My contributions made me feel more included and involved in my
community because I am participating more in the community compared to before. I felt inspired
because this organization has made a tremendous impact in our community, so this inspires me to do
more for the community. Through volunteering it made me feel good about myself and my actions.

Mechanisms of Data Communication and Signals
Data communication refers to the transmission of electronic information over shared communication
mediums. This transmission can be generated from electronic sources such as computers, phones,
cameras and even audio sources such as speakers. Due to the various types of sources from which data
is derived, each source requires a mechanism that gathers and prepares the data for transmission. This
may include digitizing data, or encoding to ensure the privacy of the data during transmission. This
data is then passed along a communications channel to the destination, or receiver, in the form of an
analog or digital signal and mixed with other multiple pieces of data through a shared channel. In
order to avoid confusion, mechanisms must be in place that can identify each source and ensure that
the data sent from those sources arrive at the intended destination and not become lost and confused
with other data in the same channel. (Comer, 2014). The propagation of data is accomplished by
conducting energy in the form of electromagnetic waves called signals. Depending on the source and
the devices that operate in the communication channels, analog and digital are the two types of signals
transmitted to the receiver. Signals travel along different types of media including copper wire, fiber
optics, and space. (Cao, n.d.). Analog signals can be found in audio sources including voices,
telephones, and cameras. They are continuously variable and potentially

The Gettysburg Address And I Have A Dream Speech Analysis
From comparing these two speeches, The Gettysburg Address, by Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth
president, and the speech, I have a Dream, by King, you find that they had similar visions for America.
In their influential speeches, they both allude to an important event in American history. Lincoln refers
to 87 years, before the civil war, when the forefathers signed the declaration of independence stating
that they are independent from Britain (Gettysburg Address, Abraham Lincoln). King also refers to the
past saying, Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed
the Emancipation Proclamation. In which he is talking about the Emancipation Proclamation when
President Lincoln issued it 100 years ago, changing the course and making the war a fight for the
preservation of human freedom. The reader indicates that they choose to allude back to a historical
event because it backed their speeches up with historical evidence and proof. Furthermore, the themes
of these two spectacular discussions are quite similar. For one, they talk about how there should be
equality and no one should be left out. President Lincoln state s, Four score and seven years ago our
fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the
proposition that all men are created equal. King stated that he had a dream that his children will be

Analysis Of The Poem Judith Of Bethulia ( Brine, Ciletti...
INTRODUCTION
The poem Judith illustrates the executing of Assyrian general Holofernes by Judith of Bethulia (Brine,
Ciletti and Lähnemann 86). The poem looks at Judith as a woman of morals, courage, and religious
conviction, and her character is portrayed as virtuous and blameless. Judith returns victorious to her
city after killing the mortal enemy, and her people proceed to win the battle against their foes (Brine,
Ciletti and Lähnemann 86). Thus, the poet gives an opportunity to witness the efforts of the poet
trying to fit a female into a setting of men in the society. The poem majorly focuses on heroism and
the main styles are looked at with respect to themes within Judith poem. Judith s beauty is adored and
symbolized throughout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though giving Judith the military role may be a deliberate choice by the poet. The clearest indicator of
the poet to portray Judith as a military leader is his use of contrast. The poet depicts Holofernes as the
epitome of evil. In contrast, Judith is depicted as pure goodness (Brine, Ciletti and Lähnemann 98).
Therefore, the two characters directly oppose each other. The two groups represented by Holofernes
and Judith, the Assyrians and Bethulians are also contrasted via a clever use of traditional heroic
language.
It is natural to see Judith as everything that a commander needs to be. For instance, on the night
preceding the battle between the Bethulians and Assyrians, Holofernes calls the senior soldiers of his
army to a feast. Certainly, Holofernes does not know that the Bethulians will attack the following day,
but a military commander probably would not allow all of his soldiers to be made drunk (Brine, Ciletti
and Lähnemann 100). In the same instance, the poet refers to Judith s battle is fought on a bed against
an unconscious man and not on the battlefield. Is Judith act is not heroic as Holofernes passes out after
drinking too much. She does not kill Holofernes in the heat of battle, but rather in a quite cold blooded
fashion.
Judith s actions are very personalized and private, in contrast to male heroes. The poet stresses the
secretive environment of Holofernes s tent and bed. The

1. Describe the modeling technique that you were assigned in your own words.
The modeling technique that I was assigned Extended Backus Naur Form (EBNF). In software
engineering, expanded Backus Naur frame (EBNF) is a group of metasyntax documentations, any of
which can be utilized to express a setting free sentence structure. EBNF is utilized to make a formal
depiction of a formal language which can be a PC programming language. They are augmentations of
the fundamental Backus Naur frame (BNF) metasyntax documentation. EBNF is a code that
communicates the sentence structure of a formal language. An EBNF comprises of terminal images
and non terminal creation rules which are the limitations administering how terminal images can be
joined into a legitimate arrangement. Cases of terminal images incorporate alphanumeric characters,
accentuation marks, and whitespace characters. BNF is the first, most straightforward, for the most
part utilized as a part of scholarly papers of hypothetical setting, for conveying to people, instead of
being utilized as a part of compiler or parser. EBNF implies Extended BNF. There s not one single
EBNF, but rather numerous.
Reusing existing syntax learning dwelling in gauges, specications and manuals for programming

and friends. By the end of the book Liesel has a strong moral code and is no afraid to endanger herself
to enforce it. Hans, Liesel s stepfather, is patient and gentle with Liesel. He is the first adult Liesel is
able to trust. He never stops helping others, he has a strong sense of right and wrong causing him to
act against is own best interest. Rosa Humermann, Liesels stepmother, unlike her husband, Rosa is
seen as a cold and impatient person. The story reveals though the willingness to take in Max and how
she treats Liesel, however, that beneath her tough exterior she is in fact a kind and caring person. Max

Leadership Styles:
Autocratic Leadership Style
This is the type of leadership exhibits by dictators. A leader exerts high levels of power over his or her
followers. An autocratic leader gives his or her idea which the team must follow. He or she has no
time for deliberations on others ideas before chosing one. In autocracy, time wasting in long
deliberations is reduced but most followers will not like being treated as bench warmers without
having anything to contribute. For leading unskilled workers who do not have any skill about a job,
this leadership style is appropriate.

Transactional Leadership Style
This is the type of leadership in which rewards are measured by performance. This leadership style

Searle s Chinese Room Analysis
N19317428 A.1. Compare and contrast what the commonsense monist and the Cartesian dualist would
say about your statement I m in Abu Dhabi. The commonsense monist makes no distinction between
the body and the self the self is just the body, and it possesses both mental and physical attributes.
Under this interpretation, the statement I m in Abu Dhabi refers to the self, as well as to the body: both
of them are in Abu Dhabi, and they are inseparable: when the body ceases being in Abu Dhabi, the self
ceases likewise. In contrast, the Cartesian dualist construes the sentence as My body is in Abu Dhabi .
So, in this context, the word I does not literally refer to the self; the self cannot be in Abu Dhabi, or

What is it supposed to show? Does it show it? Searle s Chinese Room is a thought experiment that is
intended to be an argument against functionalism, and especially against the Computational Theory of
Mind(according to which minds are information processing systems). Searle imagines himself locked
in a room, receiving written questions in Chinese(slipped under the door). He does not know Chinese,
but he answers the questions(in Chinese characters) with the help of a manual(or a program)
containing a set of rules. As a result, people outside believe they are interacting with a Chinese
speaker when in fact he does not understand Chinese at all. Therefore, according to the Chinese Room
argument, having an intelligent conversation does not imply that the partner has a mind(so, a
functional explanation cannot be used to distinguish between a mind and a program that perfectly
simulates it). Searle identifies two philosophical positions: strong AI and weak AI. The former
proposes that suitably programmed machines can genuinely understand language(or possess any
mental ability specific to humans), whereas the latter considers that machines can only simulate such
abilities. Searle s view is that he has proved that the strong AI position is

Many believe that the first report appears in the Life of St. Columba by Adomnan, written in the 7th
century. It states that in 565, Saint Columba heard the story of a man who had been swimming in the
River Ness, when he was attacked by a water beast . After hearing this, the priest asked one of his
followers to go swim across the lake. The beast roared up and tried to attack the man. The priest rose
his cross and said Stop go thou no further nor touch the man which sent the beast back into the lake
indefinitely. (Searching For Nessie) In 1933, construction began very close to Loch Ness. It is
believed that the disruption and force caused by the construction forced the water beast out of the
depths and darkness of the bottom of the Loch. This report was the first published sighting of the Loch
Ness Monster. The story appeared on the paper on May 2nd 1933. Around this time, there were many
independent sightings of Nessie. (Myths and Legends) A year later, in 1934, a photo published by a
London surgeon, Kenneth Wilson, depicted a serpent like head and neck in the body of Loch Ness.
This image was thought to have been the best evidence of Nessie for many years until it was
acknowledged decades later as a hoax.

Literary Analysis Of Arthur Miller s The Crucible
Date: July 24, 2017 At first, Arthur Miller has us, as readers, flipping back to the beginning of the
book and checking the page numbers to make sure that we didn t miss anything or to make sure that
there weren t pages ripped out of our books. Miller introduces the story after a big event (the event
that caused the story) has already occurred. This can make it confusing for the reader to understand
what more can happen, for Miller left out what seems to be an essential part of the story. Miller s style
in The Crucible requires the reader to think and draw their own conclusions about what happened the
night before the play begins, and it is necessary for the reader to read all of the book to truly
understand how the play follows the typical arc of Freytag s Pyramid. Arthur Miller s The Crucible
follows the typical arc pattern of tragedy as defined by Freytag s Pyramid because it has all the aspects
of the pyramid, despite the fact that it seems as if (when first beginning the play) the reader is thrown
into the middle of the drama. While it feels as if, as readers, we are thrown into the midst of the
drama, this proves to be false. Despite that the play opens on a somewhat intense and action
packed/drama filled scene, it becomes evident that this is only the exposition to the play. Miller uses
this scene as an introduction to the problem at hand and as an introduction to the characters of the
play, and how they interact. Throughout the first part of the play, Miller

Essay On Cherokee Indian Removal
Two out of three people are discriminated everyday. Giving someone equal rights does not infringe or
take away rights from them, it just makes it illegal to enforce your prejudice and hate. British
statesman and philosopher Edmund Burke once said, Those who don t know history are destined to
repeat it. He also said, All that s necessary for the forces of evil to win in the world is for enough good
men to do nothing. During the Cherokee Indian Removal, the Cherokee Indians were forced to be
removed by the U.S. troops because of discovery of gold leading them to be removed, and
discrimination towards the Cherokees. First the U.S. troops wanted to remove all Cherokees because
of the discovery of gold. In this situation, the Cherokees had valuable land that could be used for
farming. This would benefit the White Americans in a way to sell goods. Later, the White Americans
had found gold on Cherokee Territory, making it another reason why Andrew Jackson, wanted to
remove the Cherokees. Gold was so rare at the time, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The White Americans would reject the Native Americans, by the reason of being greedy, burning their
houses and all their belongings (Zwoniter 2009). Although, John Ross, had asked the U.S. Supreme to

Supreme Court had declared that Georgia, had violated the Cherokee Nation. However President
Jackson refuse to enforce the decision pressuring the Cherokees to leave (Thomas 2011). The Native
Americans, were divided between those who wanted to resist the Indian Removal Act, and a Treaty
Party for those who wanted to surrender and abandon the west. John Ridge, and Elias Boudinot,
signed a Treaty without the authority of Chief Ross, requiring the Cherokee Nation to exchange their
land for a load in the Indian Territory and relocate there in a period of two years. (Theda, and Green

Technology And Its Impact On The World s Space Program
Who in here owns a GPS or has a GPS built into their smartphone? Have you ever wondered how that
works or more importantly, how did that GPS satellite travel from the ground to its 12,000 mile
Medium Earth orbit? If you have ever seen a rocket launch on TV or in person you know how
impressive that event is...
This technological wonder or technology advancement was made possible by a Visionary Leader
named General Bernard Bennie A. Schriever, a Visionary Leader, who is better known as being the
Father of America s Space Program . This man s hard work and vision is responsible for creation of
the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) fleet and paving the foundation for launching satellites
in orbit. Through his 32 year career, he had many roles and with hard work and vision, he created a
legacy that is still relevant to this day.
Over the next 5 minutes, I will provide examples of how Bennie was a Visionary Leader through with
the use of the Full Range Leadership s Transformation attribute of Idealized Influence and the use of
Diversity in his teams. Once explained I will relate those concepts on how I have applied them in my
own life.
Let s dive right in and look at General Schriever s leadership attributes more closely.
As we learned in the Full Range Leadership lesson, Idealized Influence is a key aspect to leadership,
and means that as leaders we are communicating the right kind of influence, acting as a role models

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Alzheimer s Disease
Aging is an inevitable process that every human being goes through. It is very important to see how
people change as they age and the various experiences they go through. One of the most common
diseases among older people is dementia. Among the different types of dementia, the most prevalent
one is Alzheimer s disease (AD). It is important to look at all of the signs and symptoms of each type
of dementia to see which specific type best describes a person s condition. There is one patient in
particular, Betty, who has many signs and symptoms related to dementia. Betty is a 65 year old
woman who has dementia running in her family. She has been living at home with her husband,
Robert, who is 70 years old. The physicians are doing many tests to see which specific type of
dementia Betty exhibits. After looking at each type of dementia and its signs and symptoms, it is fairly
easy to tell which disease best describes her condition. Examining the various biological theories of
aging is also very important because it helps to better understand dementia and how it affects older
people in their lives. Overall, it important to look at all of the signs and symptoms of all of the types of
dementia, along with the biological theories of aging, to see if an individual has any disease and the
severity of it.
Biological Theories of Aging
There are some biological theories of aging that are important to look at especially when dealing with
dementia. One of them is the cellular aging theory,

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Survey Research
10) Survey research Survey research is the most frequently used mode of observation in social science
research which entails asking people questions for research purposes (Maxfield et al., 2015, Chpt. 7).
There are specific guidelines to follow when conducting a survey in order to get accurate
measurements. It is important to make sure all of the questions are exhaustive and mutually exclusive
meaning that there is an answer for every respondent and that each answer is a different answer. When
conducting a survey, you do not want a respondent having 0 and 0 5 as potential answers because 0 is
included in more than one answer leaving room for confusion and inaccurate results. There are many
different types of surveys that can be given: self reported surveys, self administered surveys, computer
based surveys, in person surveys, telephone surveys, etc. When conducting a survey, it helps to have a
target population you are trying to reach, a specific goal you are trying to understand, and a reason
why there is a need for the research. Strengths to survey research are their ability to describe
characteristics of a large population. Surveys are more cost effective than some other methods. A
weakness of survey research is how standardized it must be in the sense that everyone is asked the
exact same question leaving little room for going into detail which in turn misses part of the topic.
Another weakness to survey research is the obstacles when trying to contact the target

Environmental Impacts Of The Marine Environment
Introduction
Problem Statement / Definition of Research Area
This research will look into the problems caused by fishing. Human impact has proved to threaten the
bio diversity of the marine environment. The environmental impact of fishing can be divided into
issues that involve the availability of fish to be caught, such as overfishing, sustainable fisheries, and
fisheries management; and issues that involve the impact of fishing on other elements of the
environment, such as by catch. This research is connected to sustainability, and will look into the
living and non living things that menace the fish in the sea, along with the care resolution that will
foster the marine environments feasible future.
Rationale
The indicated matter was selected for the sake of the marine environment and its beautiful importance.
A great deal of leisure time is devoted to fishing both on land and sea. I love the bio diversity of the
ocean and regard it as something that needs to be safeguarded.
This topic is also significant for my local community. The oceans species are all unique and many
people fish illegally and without caution, therefore we have an environmental responsibility in
maintaining sustainable practices. Thus, significantly exploring the living and nonliving factors
alarming the ocean including the current policies enforced toward safeguarding the ocean is important.
Research Questions
1) What is overfishing?
2) What are the causes of overfishing?
3) How effective have the

What Is The Elite Class In The Masque Of The Red Death
David Davis ENGL 313 001 Prof. Shelly Jarenski December 1st, 2017 Edgar Allan Poe s Critique of
the Elite Class in The Masque of the Red Death In The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe,
the eccentric Prince Prospero and his affluent courtiers bask in the secluded comforts, and presumed
safety, of excessive wealth, all while a deadly plague known as The Red Death ravages the peasantry.
Although this tale takes place in an unnamed European country, history has proven the universal
nature of this dynamic; a dynamic which has been spoken against by many figures in America s
[literary] history. For instance, in A Model of Christian Charity, a sermon manual meant to instruct
Christians on how to act as good citizens in the New World, John Winthrop a Puritan lawyer
highlights the importance of both wealth and poverty in God s plan to maintain balance among his
elect: God Almighty in His most holy and wise providence, hath so disposed of the condition of
mankind, as in all times some must be rich, some poor, some high and eminent in power and dignity;
others mean and in submission. (Winthrop; 166). In Winthrop s eyes, this socio economic dichotomy
must exist in order for the divine virtues of communalism, unity, and charity to be upheld. By these
standards, Prospero would be an unholy and un American individual, as Poe paints him and those of
his class as a consciously oblivious group, whose high status affords them the ability to fiddle while
their country is engulfed

I Am, And Who I Want
When I look in the mirror, I see who I have become and how I got to where I am. When around others,
I feel as though I wear a figurative mask to hide who I am inside. Even the closest of my friends think
I m just a happy and cheerful person. I constantly yearn for something more, but I m never totally sure
of what it is I want. Although I do have some ideas for goals I hope to attain, with the assumption they
will fill my inner desires. In the rest of this paper, I hope to describe who I think I am, and who I wish
to become. I would say my biggest challenge has always been finding the motivation to do something.
This started back in grade school, around 6th grade. I would do all of my homework and studied like
anyone should, and maintained an A average in every class. I m not sure when the turning point was,
but I noticed as I stopped caring to do homework, aside from graded stuff, and stopped studying, my
grades barely changed. I paid attention in class, and assumed I was able to retain enough information
to do well while putting forth minimal effort. This continued through my first two years of community
college. I received my associate s degree and graduated with approximately a 3.5 grade point average,
all while not studying and even skipping many classes. The motivation to put more effort was never
really instilled upon me and I never faced any kind of challenge. Before turning 18, I held two jobs.
The first was stocking frozen food at a supermarket, which lasted all

Ergotism in The Salem Witch Trials
Ergotism in Salem
The Salem Witch Trials were a horrendous event in the history of America and was the first of its
kind. A question that has risen up numerous times is what was the actual cause of the trials. We know
that a few girls made the first accusations, but why. I will now explain how Salem became one of the
most notorious towns in Massachusetts. Ergot poisoning was the cause for the witch trials as it caused
the girls to become crazed and delirious.
First you may ask yourself what exactly is Ergot poisoning. Ergot is a fungal disease of rye that grows
in the ear of the Cereal. Early colonists reported that they were dissatisfied with the common grass as
it made their cattle ill.Ergot was first medically reported only a few years before the trials. This means
that ergotism was a relevant disease at the time of the trials. You can acquire ergot poisoning simply by
eating contaminated bread therefore the girls would not know that they were being poisoned. Ergotism
Symptoms include crawling sensation in the skin and tingling in the fingers, vertigo, headaches,
disturbances in sensation, painful muscular contractions leading to convulsions and vomiting. A few of
the mental disturbances include mania, melancholia, psychosis, and delirium.(Caporeal 23)The
accusers may have lost their minds to this awful disease. The biting, pinching, and pricking with pins
may allude to the crawling sensations under the skin experienced by ergotism victims.(caporeal 25)

Uncritical Thinker
There are three types of thinkers, Uncritical Persons, skilled manipulators and the fair minded critical
persons. The uncritical persons are the ones that the media thrives on. They are the ones that are easily
influenced in believing what they hear on the news to be true without doing their own research on
what they heard. It is simply true because they read it in the newspaper or saw it on the news. These
individuals want to be presented with a simple minded, black and white world (page 299). A person
that I can relate to as an uncritical thinker would be boyfriend s mother. She is a difficult person to
reason with. She believes in what she hears to be true without actually knowing the facts. She does not
search for the truth or care too. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These people are focused shrewdly on pursuing their own interest without respect to how that pursuit
affects others (page 299). Although skilled manipulators share many characteristics of an uncritical
thinker, they have qualities that separate them from the uncritical persons (page 300). They are good at
using their power of manipulation to get what they want from people. Skilled manipulators use their
skill to take advantage of others and use it to their benefit. My boss is an example of a skilled
manipulator. He is constantly controlling and influencing others for his own interests. He knows how
to get what he wants no matter the consequences it plays on others. For example, he will tell employee
s things they want to hear in order to get them to work longer hours, yet he never follows through with
those promises. He actually convinced a guy one night that missing his daughter s softball tournament
would benefit him in the long run within the company and so he missed it all because he believed it
would get him a promotion. It in fact did not my boss just needed someone to finish up a job that was
already over its deadline by two weeks. The employee quit and no longer works for the company but
the customer was happy and paid their bill on

English Vs Math Essays
English Vs. Math
To most people English or Language Arts is a creative course and math is just a logical, you get it or
you don t class. My purpose writing this paper is to change your mind. I believe that Math is just as, or
more creative than English. I will demonstrate this through a couple of examples.
First, we must understand what is behind the creative aspect in English. Most people consider that
English is the, creative, subject because of titles such as creative writing and creative thinking and in
contrast there is no creative something in math. In English when we are, let s say, going to write a
creative short story we use our imaginations and there are no ... Show more content on

You can prove that it is creative because a computer can t solve this equation, (a computer thinks
logically). Technically a computer could solve this equation but it could just tell you if they were equal
and not to the same level of accuracy. A computer would input a value for ? on both sides and if the
answer is equal then the equation is equal. The problem with this is that when you get into
trigonometry there could be a difference in the decilionth decimal place. A computer can t work with
the abstract which is what is in my example. A computer may take 2 seconds or a million years to find
an answer or it may give the wrong answer! The other point is that a computer can only perform
things in a certain order it can t guess or have a feeling about a question, which brings in the creative
aspect.
Another example happened during one of my Calculus classes that I believe to be the most abstract
and creative of the maths. A fellow student and me figured out pie. We figured out that the integral
from 0 to1 of the square root of x minus 1 is equal to half of pie. We had huge problems figuring out

Analysis Of Roaring Twenties
Since the beginning of the Middle Ages around 400 A.D., the economic model of capitalism has been
adopted by communities with the intent of experiencing the greatest amount of growth in wealth in the
shortest amount of time. In America, the end of World War I in 1919 represented a great opportunity
for capitalists around the nation to further grow their wealth with what seemed to be no downside.
However, capital s reliance on sign exchange value, where individuals subscribe to beliefs and
purchase goods because of what they represent, caused drastic changes in society. The value of
interpersonal relations diminished, and the very meaning of reality was synthesized and then
deconstructed. The Roaring Twenties represented a time where no ... Show more content on

It fooled me. This fella s a regular Belasco. It s a triumph. What thoroughness! What realism! Knew
when to stop too didn t cut the pages . (Fitzgerald 24). Readers may view Owl Eyes as a mere whim to
provide a break from the plot of the story, however, he serves a vital role in the novel as he represents
the foundation of society as a whole. Some academia would assert that perhaps Owl Eyes can be
described as the avatar of the sightless T.J. Eckleburg, however, a more wholesome explanation can be
developed through a deeper interpretation (Shaw). Shaw points out that [Owl Eyes] is constantly
wiping his rain covered glasses in a futile effort to see what s going on (Shaw). What this indicates is
that Owl Eyes is a character who, just like the rest of society, is blinded. Shaw points to the rain
covered glasses to convey that Owl Eyes is the representation of all those who fall victim to the tricks
of the wealthy, in this case, a mobster is hidden behind pages and pages of respected literature which
have no connection to Gatsby s identity for himself. The existence of Owl Eyes importance is
contextualized only in coexistence with the billboard of Dr. T.J. Eckleburg. Eckleburg, an inanimate
object represents the truth of the Roaring Twenties, Above the grey land and the spasms of bleak dust
which drift endlessly over it, you perceive, after a moment, the eyes of Doctor T. J. Eckleburg
(Fitzgerald 45). Eckleburg, from the readers first description of

Ritual Dances By Lucile Armstrong
When thinking of dance, most people think about ballet such as The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, or even
Beauty and the Beast. Dance first started out as a ritual. According to HistoryWorld In most ancient
civilization, dance before the god is an important element in the temple ritual . Ritual dancing bring
men as they celebrate their necessities. These necessities include food, shelter, safety, and surviving
natural disasters. These ritual dances brought the communities together to celebrate their
accomplishments. According to Lucile Armstrong writer of Ritual dances states that The first section
of will deal with ritual dances not using sticks or swords necessarily, but with similar intent. The
second will describe some stick dances. The third section will refer to sword dances, or dances
connected with swords . It is stated that the stick dance is done in the early mornings before most
people are awake. This dance can also be performed in the evening of the 21st and on the eve of the
great day.
There are about ten rituals that are still being performed today. The first dance that is still performed
today is called the Cannibalism and Necrophagy. This ritual dance is found from the city of Varanasi,
India. This dance is about eating the dead, it believed that the greatest fear humans beings have is the
fear of their own deaths. The Indians say that this fear is a barrier to spiritual enlightenment. The
second ritual is the sun dance this is performed by the Native Americans.

  • 2. North Korea s Actions Are Crimes Against Humanity Essay Debates have been swirling around the international community over North Korea s recent actions considered to be Crimes against humanity (Pearson, Hanna, and Park). When did North Korea start to have these issues and who is behind the crimes arguably equal to that of Nazi Germany? Was it during the reign of Kim ll sung or Kim Jong il? Arguments can be made that the crimes did start under the reign of these two leaders, but the real culprit behind the crimes against humanity is Kim Jong un the current supreme leader of the Democratic People s Republic of Korea. The issues within the Democratic People s Republic of Korea start on the top with leader Kim Jong un. Supreme leader Kim Jong un has provide a bad reputation for himself due to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The U.N. investigation completed this lasted year has proven just how out of control supreme leader Kim Jong un is. Kim s wild spending habits are proving to harm the people he is suppose to be protecting while he enjoys the better thing that life has to offer. Kim has also shown the world how questionable, impulsive, and illogical his leadership is. Just months after filling father Kim Jong il s role as leader Kim Jong un ousted older advisers who had been loyal to his father, Kim Jong Il (Harlan). Kim didn t stop there, after ridding himself of loyal and trusted advisers Kim recently accused his uncle Jang Song Thaek, of opposing his rise and plotting an overthrow (Harlan). Political experts and people alike see Kim s purge of his fathers advisers and Kim s execution of his uncle as an attempt to hold all power in North Korea. Hong Kwan hee, a professor in the Department of North Korea Studies , believes In the short run this kind of action could give Kim a more strong power base, but in the long run North Korea will be faced by very fundamental political instability (MacLeod). Kim Jong un in an effort to gain power has ridden North Korea of some of its best leaders and advisors. Possibly due to the lack of advisors Kim has been known to handle situations unprofessionally and irrationally. For example do to South Korean ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Ocean Oil Spill Essay There have been many oil spills in the ocean, some big and some small. All of these oil spills have had a huge effect on the wildlife in the ocean. The oil from the oil rig stays on the surface of the water because oil is less dense than the water, this causes the oil to just float cause it can t go anywhere else and it won t mix in with the water. This is harmful in so many different ways to the life in the ocean. The oil can prevent sunlight from penetrating the surface, which can cause it to be dark under the surface. The oil also can cover thousands of birds, mammals, and sea turtles. When birds land in the water they become covered in oil. The oil ruins the insulating and waterproofing properties of the fur and feathers, and without feathers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Comparing The Medieval Warm Period And The Little Ice Age Medieval Warm Period and The Little Ice Age The Medieval Warm Period and The Little Ice Age share a few common denominators. They were both caused partly by the ocean currents changing, and both of these events occurred in the northern hemisphere. The Little Ice Age was considered to be harsh , having the winters last for long a period of times, and the summers cool and wet, whereas the Medieval Warm Period was considered to be a more difficult time to describe, considering that there has not been much research done about it. The Medieval Warm Period took place during 800 AD to 1400 AD. Researchers speculate that the Medieval Warm Period had a higher than average solar radiation and less volcanic activity during that time period. This same evidence is also suggesting that changes in ocean circulation patterns caused a change in temperature (cooler to warmer) in the ocean water. This brought warmer currents into the North Atlantic (Climate Science Glossary). In this current time period, our planetary temperatures have been far warmer than any record has shown in the past two thousand years. However, evidence also suggests that some places were very much cooler than today including the tropical pacific. When the warm places are averaged out with the cool ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means that these results are not conclusive enough to make a general, overall statement regarding the temperatures during the Medieval Warm Period. However, these results have been accurate for determining temperatures during that specific time period and at that specific location, giving researchers a step in the right direction. They will soon be able to determine temperatures across the Northern Hemisphere, so they can determine the effects of the Medieval Warm Period and better predict what might occur in the future temperature wise based upon the effects of human and non human ... • 5. The Use Of Facial Recognition Technology On Society Introduction Developed in the 1960s, facial recognition technology has been used by the government and companies to identify people by matching them to photos. The data for this software was originally entered manually, limiting the scope of use. By 2001, the novelty of more powerful facial recognition technology grasped the public s attention. During the January 2001 Super Bowl, surveillance cameras captured images to find people with a criminal record (FBI 2013). This potential invasion of privacy under the pretense of public safety sparked a public debate about what private information the government was allowed to take from us. So should we be putting limitations on the use of facial recognition software in America in order to keep ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In effect, people are unknowingly being put in suspect lineups without their awareness or consent. This can lead to false accusations against innocent citizens. Most police departments still rely on officers to verify that the suspect chosen by the face recognition software actually matches the camera footage. However, humans shockingly make an error in this process once in every two cases (Bedoya, Alvaro, et al 2016). In some instances, it is not only this human error that is leading to their conviction but rather the system itself. A study, co authored by the FBI, said that the facial recognition software is actually less accurate when it comes to identifying African Americans. Systems relying on mugshot databases have a disproportionate number of African Americans due to their high arrest rates in America. This creates racial biased error rates, that perpetuate implicit and systemic racism in our society (Bedoya, Alvaro, et al 2016). But for American citizens in general, in any crime being solved by using face databases, anyone is a potential suspect. Because of this, regulations should be put in place to limit the use of this technology to cases where its use is relevant and vital to solving the issue. Social Media Another common and inappropriate use of facial recognition technology exists in many social media platforms and systems. In the current social media domain, ... • 8. Mechanisms of Data Communication and Signals Data communication refers to the transmission of electronic information over shared communication mediums. This transmission can be generated from electronic sources such as computers, phones, cameras and even audio sources such as speakers. Due to the various types of sources from which data is derived, each source requires a mechanism that gathers and prepares the data for transmission. This may include digitizing data, or encoding to ensure the privacy of the data during transmission. This data is then passed along a communications channel to the destination, or receiver, in the form of an analog or digital signal and mixed with other multiple pieces of data through a shared channel. In order to avoid confusion, mechanisms must be in place that can identify each source and ensure that the data sent from those sources arrive at the intended destination and not become lost and confused with other data in the same channel. (Comer, 2014). The propagation of data is accomplished by conducting energy in the form of electromagnetic waves called signals. Depending on the source and the devices that operate in the communication channels, analog and digital are the two types of signals transmitted to the receiver. Signals travel along different types of media including copper wire, fiber optics, and space. (Cao, n.d.). Analog signals can be found in audio sources including voices, telephones, and cameras. • 10. The Gettysburg Address And I Have A Dream Speech Analysis From comparing these two speeches, The Gettysburg Address, by Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth president, and the speech, I have a Dream, by King, you find that they had similar visions for America. In their influential speeches, they both allude to an important event in American history. Lincoln refers to 87 years, before the civil war, when the forefathers signed the declaration of independence stating that they are independent from Britain (Gettysburg Address, Abraham Lincoln). King also refers to the past saying, Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. In which he is talking about the Emancipation Proclamation when President Lincoln issued it 100 years ago, changing the course and making the war a fight for the preservation of human freedom. The reader indicates that they choose to allude back to a historical event because it backed their speeches up with historical evidence and proof. Furthermore, the themes of these two spectacular discussions are quite similar. For one, they talk about how there should be equality and no one should be left out. President Lincoln state s, Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. King stated that he had a dream that his children will be able to live where they won t be judged by their skin color, but by their character ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Analysis Of The Poem Judith Of Bethulia ( Brine, Ciletti... INTRODUCTION The poem Judith illustrates the executing of Assyrian general Holofernes by Judith of Bethulia (Brine, Ciletti and Lähnemann 86). The poem looks at Judith as a woman of morals, courage, and religious conviction, and her character is portrayed as virtuous and blameless. Judith returns victorious to her city after killing the mortal enemy, and her people proceed to win the battle against their foes (Brine, Ciletti and Lähnemann 86). Thus, the poet gives an opportunity to witness the efforts of the poet trying to fit a female into a setting of men in the society. The poem majorly focuses on heroism and the main styles are looked at with respect to themes within Judith poem. Judith s beauty is adored and symbolized throughout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though giving Judith the military role may be a deliberate choice by the poet. The clearest indicator of the poet to portray Judith as a military leader is his use of contrast. The poet depicts Holofernes as the epitome of evil. In contrast, Judith is depicted as pure goodness (Brine, Ciletti and Lähnemann 98). Therefore, the two characters directly oppose each other. The two groups represented by Holofernes and Judith, the Assyrians and Bethulians are also contrasted via a clever use of traditional heroic language. It is natural to see Judith as everything that a commander needs to be. For instance, on the night preceding the battle between the Bethulians and Assyrians, Holofernes calls the senior soldiers of his army to a feast. Certainly, Holofernes does not know that the Bethulians will attack the following day, but a military commander probably would not allow all of his soldiers to be made drunk (Brine, Ciletti and Lähnemann 100). In the same instance, the poet refers to Judith s battle is fought on a bed against an unconscious man and not on the battlefield. Is Judith act is not heroic as Holofernes passes out after drinking too much. She does not kill Holofernes in the heat of battle, but rather in a quite cold blooded fashion. Judith s actions are very personalized and private, in contrast to male heroes. The poet stresses the secretive environment of Holofernes s tent and bed. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The modeling technique that I was assigned Extended Backus Naur Form (EBNF). In software engineering, expanded Backus Naur frame (EBNF) is a group of metasyntax documentations, any of which can be utilized to express a setting free sentence structure. The commonsense monist makes no distinction between the body and the self the self is just the body, and it possesses both mental and physical attributes. Under this interpretation, the statement I m in Abu Dhabi refers to the self, as well as to the body: both of them are in Abu Dhabi, and they are inseparable: when the body ceases being in Abu Dhabi, the self ceases likewise. In contrast, the Cartesian dualist construes the sentence as My body is in Abu Dhabi . What is it supposed to show? Does it show it? Searle s Chinese Room is a thought experiment that is intended to be an argument against functionalism, and especially against the Computational Theory of Mind(according to which minds are information processing systems). Searle imagines himself locked in a room, receiving written questions in Chinese(slipped under the door). He does not know Chinese, but he answers the questions(in Chinese characters) with the help of a manual(or a program) containing a set of rules. As a result, people outside believe they are interacting with a Chinese speaker when in fact he does not understand Chinese at all. Therefore, according to the Chinese Room argument, having an intelligent conversation does not imply that the partner has a mind(so, a functional explanation cannot be used to distinguish between a mind and a program that perfectly simulates it). Searle identifies two philosophical positions: strong AI and weak AI. The former proposes that suitably programmed machines can genuinely understand language(or possess any mental ability specific to humans), whereas the latter considers that machines can only simulate such abilities. • 23. Literary Analysis Of Arthur Miller s The Crucible Date: July 24, 2017 At first, Arthur Miller has us, as readers, flipping back to the beginning of the book and checking the page numbers to make sure that we didn t miss anything or to make sure that there weren t pages ripped out of our books. Miller introduces the story after a big event (the event that caused the story) has already occurred. This can make it confusing for the reader to understand what more can happen, for Miller left out what seems to be an essential part of the story. Miller s style in The Crucible requires the reader to think and draw their own conclusions about what happened the night before the play begins, and it is necessary for the reader to read all of the book to truly understand how the play follows the typical arc of Freytag s Pyramid. Arthur Miller s The Crucible follows the typical arc pattern of tragedy as defined by Freytag s Pyramid because it has all the aspects of the pyramid, despite the fact that it seems as if (when first beginning the play) the reader is thrown into the middle of the drama. While it feels as if, as readers, we are thrown into the midst of the drama, this proves to be false. Despite that the play opens on a somewhat intense and action packed/drama filled scene, it becomes evident that this is only the exposition to the play. Miller uses this scene as an introduction to the problem at hand and as an introduction to the characters of the play, and how they interact. Throughout the first part of the play, Miller ... Strengths And Weaknesses Of Survey Research 10) Survey research Survey research is the most frequently used mode of observation in social science research which entails asking people questions for research purposes (Maxfield et al., 2015, Chpt. 7). There are specific guidelines to follow when conducting a survey in order to get accurate measurements. It is important to make sure all of the questions are exhaustive and mutually exclusive meaning that there is an answer for every respondent and that each answer is a different answer. When conducting a survey, you do not want a respondent having 0 and 0 5 as potential answers because 0 is included in more than one answer leaving room for confusion and inaccurate results. There are many different types of surveys that can be given: self reported surveys, self administered surveys, computer based surveys, in person surveys, telephone surveys, etc. When conducting a survey, it helps to have a target population you are trying to reach, a specific goal you are trying to understand, and a reason why there is a need for the research. Strengths to survey research are their ability to describe characteristics of a large population. Surveys are more cost effective than some other methods. A weakness of survey research is how standardized it must be in the sense that everyone is asked the exact same question leaving little room for going into detail which in turn misses part of the topic. • 32. What Is The Elite Class In The Masque Of The Red Death David Davis ENGL 313 001 Prof. Shelly Jarenski December 1st, 2017 Edgar Allan Poe s Critique of the Elite Class in The Masque of the Red Death In The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe, the eccentric Prince Prospero and his affluent courtiers bask in the secluded comforts, and presumed safety, of excessive wealth, all while a deadly plague known as The Red Death ravages the peasantry. Although this tale takes place in an unnamed European country, history has proven the universal nature of this dynamic; a dynamic which has been spoken against by many figures in America s [literary] history. For instance, in A Model of Christian Charity, a sermon manual meant to instruct Christians on how to act as good citizens in the New World, John Winthrop a Puritan lawyer highlights the importance of both wealth and poverty in God s plan to maintain balance among his elect: God Almighty in His most holy and wise providence, hath so disposed of the condition of mankind, as in all times some must be rich, some poor, some high and eminent in power and dignity; others mean and in submission. (Winthrop; 166). In Winthrop s eyes, this socio economic dichotomy must exist in order for the divine virtues of communalism, unity, and charity to be upheld. By these standards, Prospero would be an unholy and un American individual, as Poe paints him and those of his class as a consciously oblivious group, whose high status affords them the ability to fiddle while their country is engulfed ... • 33. I Am, And Who I Want When I look in the mirror, I see who I have become and how I got to where I am. When around others, I feel as though I wear a figurative mask to hide who I am inside. Even the closest of my friends think I m just a happy and cheerful person. I constantly yearn for something more, but I m never totally sure of what it is I want. Although I do have some ideas for goals I hope to attain, with the assumption they will fill my inner desires. In the rest of this paper, I hope to describe who I think I am, and who I wish to become. I would say my biggest challenge has always been finding the motivation to do something. This started back in grade school, around 6th grade. I would do all of my homework and studied like anyone should, and maintained an A average in every class. I m not sure when the turning point was, but I noticed as I stopped caring to do homework, aside from graded stuff, and stopped studying, my grades barely changed. I paid attention in class, and assumed I was able to retain enough information to do well while putting forth minimal effort. This continued through my first two years of community college. I received my associate s degree and graduated with approximately a 3.5 grade point average, all while not studying and even skipping many classes. The motivation to put more effort was never really instilled upon me and I never faced any kind of challenge. Before turning 18, I held two jobs. The first was stocking frozen food at a supermarket, which lasted all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Ergotism in The Salem Witch Trials Ergotism in Salem The Salem Witch Trials were a horrendous event in the history of America and was the first of its kind. A question that has risen up numerous times is what was the actual cause of the trials. We know that a few girls made the first accusations, but why. I will now explain how Salem became one of the most notorious towns in Massachusetts. Ergot poisoning was the cause for the witch trials as it caused the girls to become crazed and delirious. First you may ask yourself what exactly is Ergot poisoning. Ergot is a fungal disease of rye that grows in the ear of the Cereal. Early colonists reported that they were dissatisfied with the common grass as it made their cattle ill.Ergot was first medically reported only a few years before the trials. This means that ergotism was a relevant disease at the time of the trials. You can acquire ergot poisoning simply by eating contaminated bread therefore the girls would not know that they were being poisoned. Ergotism Symptoms include crawling sensation in the skin and tingling in the fingers, vertigo, headaches, disturbances in sensation, painful muscular contractions leading to convulsions and vomiting. A few of the mental disturbances include mania, melancholia, psychosis, and delirium.(Caporeal 23)The accusers may have lost their minds to this awful disease. The biting, pinching, and pricking with pins may allude to the crawling sensations under the skin experienced by ergotism victims.(caporeal 25) The location of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Uncritical Thinker There are three types of thinkers, Uncritical Persons, skilled manipulators and the fair minded critical persons. The uncritical persons are the ones that the media thrives on. They are the ones that are easily influenced in believing what they hear on the news to be true without doing their own research on what they heard. It is simply true because they read it in the newspaper or saw it on the news. These individuals want to be presented with a simple minded, black and white world (page 299). A person that I can relate to as an uncritical thinker would be boyfriend s mother. She is a difficult person to reason with. She believes in what she hears to be true without actually knowing the facts. She does not search for the truth or care too. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These people are focused shrewdly on pursuing their own interest without respect to how that pursuit affects others (page 299). Although skilled manipulators share many characteristics of an uncritical thinker, they have qualities that separate them from the uncritical persons (page 300). They are good at using their power of manipulation to get what they want from people. Skilled manipulators use their skill to take advantage of others and use it to their benefit. My boss is an example of a skilled manipulator. He is constantly controlling and influencing others for his own interests. He knows how to get what he wants no matter the consequences it plays on others. For example, he will tell employee s things they want to hear in order to get them to work longer hours, yet he never follows through with those promises. He actually convinced a guy one night that missing his daughter s softball tournament would benefit him in the long run within the company and so he missed it all because he believed it would get him a promotion. It in fact did not my boss just needed someone to finish up a job that was already over its deadline by two weeks. The employee quit and no longer works for the company but the customer was happy and paid their bill on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. English Vs Math Essays English Vs. Math To most people English or Language Arts is a creative course and math is just a logical, you get it or you don t class. My purpose writing this paper is to change your mind. I believe that Math is just as, or more creative than English. I will demonstrate this through a couple of examples. First, we must understand what is behind the creative aspect in English. Most people consider that English is the, creative, subject because of titles such as creative writing and creative thinking and in contrast there is no creative something in math. In English when we are, let s say, going to write a creative short story we use our imaginations and there are no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sin²? + Cos ? | Sec ? You can prove that it is creative because a computer can t solve this equation, (a computer thinks logically). Technically a computer could solve this equation but it could just tell you if they were equal and not to the same level of accuracy. A computer would input a value for ? on both sides and if the answer is equal then the equation is equal. The problem with this is that when you get into trigonometry there could be a difference in the decilionth decimal place. A computer can t work with the abstract which is what is in my example. A computer may take 2 seconds or a million years to find an answer or it may give the wrong answer! The other point is that a computer can only perform things in a certain order it can t guess or have a feeling about a question, which brings in the creative aspect. Another example happened during one of my Calculus classes that I believe to be the most abstract

  • 38. Analysis Of Roaring Twenties Since the beginning of the Middle Ages around 400 A.D., the economic model of capitalism has been adopted by communities with the intent of experiencing the greatest amount of growth in wealth in the shortest amount of time. In America, the end of World War I in 1919 represented a great opportunity for capitalists around the nation to further grow their wealth with what seemed to be no downside. However, capital s reliance on sign exchange value, where individuals subscribe to beliefs and purchase goods because of what they represent, caused drastic changes in society. The value of interpersonal relations diminished, and the very meaning of reality was synthesized and then deconstructed. The Roaring Twenties represented a time where no ... Readers may view Owl Eyes as a mere whim to provide a break from the plot of the story, however, he serves a vital role in the novel as he represents the foundation of society as a whole. Some academia would assert that perhaps Owl Eyes can be described as the avatar of the sightless T.J. Eckleburg, however, a more wholesome explanation can be developed through a deeper interpretation (Shaw). Shaw points out that [Owl Eyes] is constantly wiping his rain covered glasses in a futile effort to see what s going on (Shaw). What this indicates is that Owl Eyes is a character who, just like the rest of society, is blinded. Shaw points to the rain covered glasses to convey that Owl Eyes is the representation of all those who fall victim to the tricks of the wealthy, in this case, a mobster is hidden behind pages and pages of respected literature which have no connection to Gatsby s identity for himself. The existence of Owl Eyes importance is contextualized only in coexistence with the billboard of Dr. T.J. Eckleburg. Eckleburg, an inanimate object represents the truth of the Roaring Twenties, Above the grey land and the spasms of bleak dust which drift endlessly over it, you perceive, after a moment, the eyes of Doctor T.
