STUDY POPULATION AND CLINICAL DATA
This study is a retrospective chart review of 360 patients with definite or possible Infective
Endocarditis according to modified Duke Criteria [1 2] who were admitted to Detroit Receiving
Hospital and Harper University Hospital in Detroit from 2006 to 2014. Both hospitals are teaching
hospitals in Detroit, Michigan. For a patient with repeated episodes of Infective Endocarditis, one
episode was only included at our institutions. Clinical, microbiological, and echocardiographic data of
all patients with definite IE were collected using a standard data collection form.
Analysis of Data
Analysis of data was conducted using the SPSS software system version 22. In table 1, bivariate
analysis was used to compare IE patients who died during admission versus those who survived to
hospital discharge.
Continuous variables were expressed as means ± standard deviation (SD) and binary regression
analysis was used to examine the associations between a continuous variable and a categorical
variable with two categories. Categorical variables were presented numbers (percentage) and the
association between them analyzed using The Chi square test. Variables that achieved a P value less
than 0.10 in the bivariable analysis were included in the multivariable logistic regression model to

In terms of the reform option, as a country, we absolutely cannot afford to abolish the Senate, as it
serves as, and is meant to be, a body of un biased economic and social élite , who are capable of
making/approving decisions to benefit the citizens of Canada, rather than the House of Commons,
which makes decisions by majority, and in their own interest. The Senate is meant to play a neutral
role, to be the final judge to make the un biased, informed decisions. Sometimes, the Senate has taken

and want to hurt others. The MAOA gene is a metabolic enzyme, which means that it stops the work
of the neurotransmitters, dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin, causing problems within the

were made apparent through maltreatment of children. The primary maltreatment that Caspi and
Moffitt studied was when a child was a victim of physical and sexual abuse (Tabery 2). What was

antisocial personality disorder, while people with high MAOA only gradually develop the risk (Tabury
3). Having an antisocial personality disorder be in your genetic makeup would not make the person
having it at fault. If it was in ones genetic makeup, then it would not be possible to actually convict
someone in court and they would have to be considered not medically sane. The MAOA gene is found
in everybody s X chromosome, so while women have two copies of the X chromosome, men only
have one so it s more common that men will have more problems with MAOA gene (Wolfson, par.

In To Kill A Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, Jem and Scout, the protagonists in the book, experience and
learn about the problems of racism, sexism, and classism when their father, Atticus, agrees to defend
Tom Robinson, an African American, in a trial. Set in the 1930s, most people were treated unfairly
because of their race, gender, or social class. Even though problems about race, gender, and class
decreased over time, these problems are still very prevalent today. Even though racism decreased
dramatically over the past decades, there are still problems today that are strikingly similar to the
problems in To Kill A Mockingbird. In To Kill A Mockingbird, Atticus explains to Jem and Scout
about the unfairness of court: when it s a white man s word against a black man s, the white man
always wins. They re ugly, but those are the facts of life (Lee 220). Even though this was set in the

Serve of Fail by Eggers brings up many interesting points as to why volunteering should be a
requirement for college students. Colleges should create in their students a lifelong commitment to
volunteering, he said while pointing out that college students are uniquely suited to volunteering. He
stated that America would gain millions of volunteer hours and it would help colleges bridge the gap
between the academic world and the world beyond it. I agree that colleges should make volunteering a
requirements for students and I support Eggers argument, but have a different opinion on some of his

field they prefer to, students can get to know that field better. Acquiring that perspective will connect

June 21, 2016 Al Qaeda grew from the Service Office founded in 1980 lead by the infamous Osama
bin Laden. This was an office that was tasked with destroying Muslim brigade that stood in the way of
the Soviets invasion of Afghanistan. However, Laden did not want to stop after this task. He began to
train and recruit warriors from over 20 countries. With these fighters, Bin Laden planned to carry the
holy war past Afghanistan. This lead to the creation on Al Qaeda in 1988. The group was focused on
removing western influence from Muslim theocracy and create strict Islamic governments.
The group operates with no central headquarters. In the year 1991 to 1996, Al Qaeda had points of
operation around the Pakistan Afghan border and in Pakistani cities. However, during the Era of the
Taliban, they shifted from Pakistan to Afghanistan.
Since its creation the group has been responsible for a total of 13 major attacks. These attacks included
