The four men that lie dead in this photograph are all in an open field and all appear to be in
Union uniforms. These men were presumingly lined shoulder to shoulder, as is custom in war,
while advancing on the confederate soldiers lines. The fence behind these soldiers is missing many
of its planks suggesting that many bullets were fired at these soldiers as the advanced towards the
confederate lines. This fence is symbolic because with the fence post missing it truly shows the

correlation between parents who praise their children for intellect and how that praise negatively
affects the child s academic performance. In 1972, a study was performed when a group of
elementary and middle school students displayed helpless behavioral attributes. One group who
exhibited the helpless behavioral trait learned to keep trying as the problems increased in difficulty.

It can be concluded from this research that, in order to truly assess the effectiveness of the growth
mindset an experiment would have to coincide with the already existing case studies. The
researcher would need to impose each mindset onto a population of children who had an equal
chance of being chosen for each group before they began their academic careers. The experimenter
would need to use naturalistic observation to assess how the parents react towards their child s
success and attempt to control the external factors that may impede on the child s ability to fully
develop into a student who adopts their given mindset.

Those actors which weren t already fluent in Gaelic would have had to learn the translation in an
effort to have performed with emotion and feeling. It s hard to act out words that have no
meaning to the actor. Another downfall to a film almost entirely in Gaelic was its audience. The

Objective This experiment will involve measuring the volume and mass of a cylinder, a sphere
and a wooden block. Based on the mass and volumes of these objects, the density of these objects
can be calculated. The equation for the density of an object is density =mass/volume. In the density
equation there is a direct proportional relationship between the mass of an object and its volume.
For instance, if an object has its mass decreased, its volume will also decrease.
The experiment used a Vernier caliperto measure the height and the diameter of a cylinder. A
Vernier caliper was also used to measure the diameter of the sphere. A meter stick was used to
measure the length, width, and height of the wooden block. The precision of an instrument such as
a Vernier caliper or a meter stick determines how many significant figures the data is presented in.
The mass of the objects being tested will be measured using an electronic balance. The equations
used in this experiment to determine the volumes were the volume of the cylinder: ПЂr2h; volume

During the 13th century, religious dialogue among different cultures was expanding at a rapid rate
(457). With this cross cultural exchange came competing views which vied for religious dominance
in both Eastern and Western civilizations. Notably, many arguments in favor of Christianity were
spread by Franciscan friars such as John of Plano Carpini, John of Monte Corvino, and William of
Ruysbruck. Additionally, scholars such as Ibn Kammuna concerned themselves with the
comparative study of religion. As a Jewish thinker, Ibn Kammuna found this comparative study to
be particularly important within the context of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam in order to defend
monotheism in the East (468). Though the Franciscan friars may have had more at stake in their
defenses of Christianity (as a political tactic against a Mongol invasion of Europe, for example), it

abstract, and exotic. The building is nice to look at. It has a good sense of movement caused by
its wide openings throughout the bottom and cervices at the top and middle of the building. The
bottom is wider and it gets smaller in different areas depending on where the domes are located.
All the different angles and stunning designs sculpted on each section of the building seems edgy

For this summer reading I decided to read the Scary Novels. Which included Shirley Jackson s
The Haunting of Hill House, William Peter Blatty s The Exorcist, and Stephen King s The
Shining. The Haunting of Hill House is about an 80 year old mansion built by a man named Huge
Crain. Dr. Montague, a paranormal investigator, rents the house in hopes to experience the
supernatural. He invites four people, Eleanor Vance, Theodora and Luke Sanderson, based on
their pasts. From there they stay for the summer in hopes to explore the supernatural side. The

The author also adds an eerie backstory as to why it would be haunted , which consisted of a
suicide by hanging. It confused me by the end because I didn t know if she was possessed or
going crazy. I leaned more towards the possessed side since the ghosts would write out her name
in I assumed was blood and everyone else could see it, which knocks out the idea that she was
just imagining it; but she also could have done that herself but the book didn t specify that. My

Of course not everybody in the world likes to talk about exactly what they are feeling or thinking
all the time. There is a certain degree of things that generally are kept private. However, in the
book The Little Chinese Seamstress by Dai Sijie, the main character (who doesn t ever reveal
his name to the audience, so is simply called the Narrator), comes off as an especially closed off
character specifically in the beginning half of the story. He rarely ever speaks what he is
actually thinking, which makes him a kind of difficult character to relate to. The Little
Seamstress, a local beauty, has caught his eye along with every other male in the village , but
he struggles with how to express his feelings because he is not used to doing so, and because his
best friend (Luo) is dating her. On pages 161 163, Luo has left the village and asked the Narrator
to keep an eye on the Little Seamstress while he is away. However, even though the Narrator
keeps his word, he can t help but feel attracted to her and an inner battle between what he wants
and what is right begins. In this part of the story, the Narrator feels torn between his loveand
affection towards the Little Seamstress and his commitment/promise to Luo. Here, the Narrator
finally portrays to what extent he feels towards her, but does so very subtly (which is fitting seeing

Lucy Keeler is an Australian, multi award winning painter who produces contemporary oil
portraits. She also works in projection, production design and animation and has worked in this
way in theatre and cultural events for ten years now. Her work has been an influence on my
