In 2020, enterprises poured a whopping $50 billion into artificial intelligence. Yet, just 11% of these projects are expected to bring a sizeable ROI in the coming years. What challenges do companies face when designing and implementing AI solutions? Whether you’re in the office or on the go, to run your business, you need to be connected no matter
where you are. More and more, the employees you’re hiring want the same thing: the flexibility to
choose where and when they work and the technology to keep them connected. Providing this
flexibility is key to staying competitive in an ever-changing market.
The world has changed and the next industrial revolution has arrived. According to the World Economic Forum, we have entered the 4th Industrial Revolution, in which technology has been and will continue to be embedded into society in ways that involve and require entirely new capabilities for people and machines. Technology has also destroyed the staying power of traditional companies, reducing their average lifespan by two thirds since 1950, and moving the majority of their assets from tangible products to intangible assets, comprised of people and intellectual property. In short, this means that in this new digital age, skills have become the new currency, and data is the oil that fuels our transactions.
Join Brett Wilson, Cornerstone’s Director of Thought Leadership and Strategy, as he discusses the implications of the global skills crisis and how we manage talent over the next five years as it will be completely different from the last twenty years. This crisis will force a new set of expectations for a modern workforce. A subsequent issue suggests that every job is changing requiring the best companies to reinvent themselves to meet the challenge.
Given all of these challenges, Mr. Wilson will put forth a four-pronged strategy that will consist of the following principals:
Create lifelong learning experiences
Make recruiting a competitive advantage
Personalize talent management processes
Bring context and intelligence to HR decisions

Multi criteria Decision model (MCDM) for the evaluation of maintenance practi...IJERA Editor
The perceptible impact of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) lies in raising productivity standards, gaining
profitability, and improving the quality besides cutting down the non value added costs greatly. This paper is
an attempt to provide a frame work and pragmatic approach in implementation of TPM. A number of novel
success factors or practices that are responsible for the decisive role to overture the process are identified.
These practices are interchangeably called as sub-attributes. These practices must have evolved from different
strategies. The sub-attributes are quantified using least square multi attribute decision model (LSMADM) for
three alternatives strategies viz. corrective maintenance, reliability centered maintenance(RCM), and TPM. Any
sub-attribute irrespective of its own high or low relative score among the number of sub attributes is evaluated
over three alternative strategies. To implement any sub-attribute, an investigation of its highest relative score
for given alternatives will guide the managers to opt the best alternative. The best practices must come from
different strategies to get most optimal results. The priorities established using LSMADM will act as base line
to implement the industrial activities in a more systematic and balanced way to gain far-reaching optimized
productivity and quality standards. The higher priority task will be given higher consideration in terms of
committing the resources vis a vis less priority task. This will aid in orienting the collective efforts for optimal
outcomes.
This report is for managers, human resourcing and owners of technology companies, or those responsible for a technology department. The purpose of the report is to highlight ways of retaining technical talent.
Maintenance Skills Training for industry is a hot subject right now. In many areas of the country, companies are competing for skilled maintenance personnel.
“A Deloitte study found that the skills gap may leave an estimated 2.4 million positions unfilled between 2018 and 2028, with a potential economic impact of $2.5 trillion”
The skill level of the maintenance personnel in most companies is well below what industry would say is acceptable. In the past, I have been involved with the assessment of the skill level for hundreds of maintenance personnel in the U.S. and Canada and found 80% of the people assessed scored less than 50% of where they need to be in the basic technical skills to perform their jobs. The literacy level of maintenance personnel is also a problem. In some areas of the United States we find that up to 40% of maintenance personnel in a plant are reading below the eighth grade level. After performing the Gunning FOG index, we find the reading level for mechanical maintenance personnel should be the twelfth year level and electrical maintenance personnel the fourteenth year level (associate degree).

Compliance Webinar: The Devil is in the DetailsNetDimensions
For many organizations, compliance training is seen as a necessary evil – a type of medicine to be taken. This perception can cause companies to overlook many of the details that go into the delivery of effective compliance training. And ineffective training can result in audits, fines, accidents, or worse.
Challenges also arise if there is not a consensus as to who owns compliance. Is it a training function or an HR function? How are Legal and Quality involved? Answers may vary greatly by industry as well as the unique compliance challenges an organization faces.
In this webinar, David Wentworth, Principal Learning Analyst with Brandon Hall Group and Michelle Sullivan, Senior Marketing Director at NetDimensions, look at some of the compliance pitfalls that companies face and how to avoid them.
The session highlighted Brandon Hall Group’s most recent Compliance Survey, identifying global trends, challenges and strategies. They discussed:
• The difference between strategic and transactional compliance
• The impact of compliance on the business
• Cross-functional compliance
• Common compliance challenges
• Examples of how companies address challenges
Learn how a centralized learning & performance management system will help you tackle the skills shortage and stringent compliance needs in the energy sector.

Maximising the Business Impact of LearningNetDimensions
With all the change and new technology options in learning and development, it is sometimes easy to focus only on the "what?" and the "how?", and not on the "why?". Learning should be a strategic investment to drive business performance and to build business capability. But how do you measure the impact it really has, or maximise that impact?
Watch this webinar as David Wilson, Founder and CEO of Fosway Group, Europe's #1 HR and Learning Analyst, discusses:
- the opportunities and challenges in measuring and maximising the business impact of learning
- how L&D can ensure it focuses on business impact rather than activity metrics
- why some perceived learning best practices can actually reduce focus on impact
- the role of metrics and analytics in driving business decisions

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.
Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
