1. The document summarizes key findings from a survey of highly efficient companies conducted by Pew Charitable Trusts, identifying seven common habits of these companies. 2. These habits include making energy efficiency a core corporate strategy, strong leadership support for efficiency goals, setting specific and measurable efficiency targets, effective tracking systems, dedicating resources to efficiency, achieving demonstrated results, and communicating efficiency successes. 3. The survey found that on average companies targeted annual efficiency improvements of around 3.4% and were motivated by both cost savings and risk management. Case studies of best practices at companies like Dow, IBM and Toyota were also presented.
