Unit 7 Hooke s Law Lab
Unit 7 Hooke s Law
Introduction
This lab will test the relationship between the spring constant, k, from Hooke s Law and the change in
applied force resulting in displacement. Using two different methods, part one and two of the lab will
determine the spring constant, k. In part one we will hang different masses from the spring so that we
can alter the amount of force acting on it. After applying these weights, one can measure the
displacement caused by this action. Hooke s equation will yield a straight line graph of F (weight)
versus x (displacement). The slope of the graph will yield the spring constant, k. In part two we will
be using the oscillation of the mass on the spring as an example of SMH. By graphing the oscillation,
we can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the File Menu, select Open Activity and open the file simple harmonic motion. [The files are
located inside My documents , Mechanics ].
Calibrate the Sensor
In this part, only the motion sensor is acquiring data. The force sensor functions solely to provide a
means to suspend the spring and mass. With the spring mass system stationary, select Start. Data will
be taken for 5 seconds, then stop automatically. The graph is displayed in the Simple Harmonic
Motion graph window should not have large spikes. If it does, repeat until a spike free graph is
obtained. The Table window will display the mean value for the distance from the bottom of the
weight hanger to the motion sensor. In the Data Panel, double click on the pos=x equilibrium icon.
Enter the mean value into the box for the equilibrium value. Click the lower Accept button and verify
that the value for equilibrium is equal to what was entered. Close the window.

Evolution Of Gender Roles In The 1920 s
Equality between men and women is more than a matter of social justice .gender roles is a way of
characterizing and labeling other in society. Gender roles include attitudes, actions, and personality
traits associated with a gender within that culture. Gender roles determines over all how men and
women should act, speak, dress, and think. Gender defines masculine and feminine roles on society.
Social influence parents, teachers, peers, movies, television, music, books, and religion teach and
reinforce gender roles. Children then receive parental approval when they conform to gender
expectations and adopt culturally accepted roles. Throughout society evolution from the 1920s to now

dependent on men, like a princess on a prince. Princesses are put on hyper sexualized royal attire, then
again to reinforce the idea of the female role and their physical modifications to please men. Little
girls are given the idea of becoming a princess like Cinderella. They fantasize about wearing a ball
gown and being swept off their feet. Even the strongest female characters in the role plays are most to
be saved by a man with wealth and over power. Cinderella is setting a standard for women and
limiting female gender roles to full exploration of their femininity. Typically the placement of the
female role is perceived as being weaker, smaller and more fragile. Culturally, they are set as being
passive and domesticated, all oriented towards submission and weakness. In the story Cinderella is
slaved and abused by her step mother and sisters. It is always a competition between the step sisters to
be the most beautiful one for the prince. In the dominant narrative by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, they
explain the role that Cinderella was given and she was miserable. Looking for an escape her
godmother beautifies her. Giving her that perfect look to get the prince s approval. Cinderella had to
leave the ball before the spell and lost her slipper. According to the prince, if the slipper fit, the lucky

Analysis Of Margaret Atwood s It s Not Climate Change...
In the article It s Not Climate Change It s Everything Change, the author Margaret Atwood, starts of
by talking about three different pictures. The first one being The future without oil, the second, The
future without oil arrives very quickly, and the third, Some countries plan for the future of diminished
oil, some don t have any, or don t need any. The first picture says to imagine driving around in our in
vehicles fueled by hydrogen. Our goods will be coming to us by solar and sail driven ship, and trains
and bicycles will become popular again. People start eating locally and start growing vegetables in
their yards. Water is having to be saved and low draw lightbulbs are being used because incandescent
have been banned. Also the slogan Heat yourself, not the room is no longer a slogan, it s the way we
all live now. The air conditioning systems no longer exist so during summer, there will not be huge
amounts of power being used. Still imagining, the author discusses what will be wearing and what we
will eat. Cotton will be consider too expensive, so recycled tinfoil and plastic will be used for
clothing. The idea of obesity will no longer be a problem, and diet plans will be mandatory. This
picture one is liked by the author because it s comforting and says it might come true. The second
picture the author discuses is suppose the future without oil arrives very quickly. Very sudden, there
would be no cars, no planes, a few trains, and some bicycles. Water

UK Government s Strategy to Imporve Workplace Proficiency...
The United Kingdom provides training for workers to improve their skills enabling them to expand
into the labour market. Buckley et al (2007) illustrate training as a planned and systematic effort to
modify... skills through learning... to achieve effective performance . It is explained as improving
technical capabilities of workers and embedding them further into occupational community (Green et
al, 2012). Gold et al (2010) further elucidates this by adding that training is essentially skill orientated.
The UK government have put forth new strategies aimed at developing the UK s workforce
proficiency (Stevens, 2013) for instance traineeship, apprenticeship, pre job training and further
education made vastly available for all. This essay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Out of the 24 countries studied upon, UK plummets to 22nd place for numeric skills and 21st place for
literature; holding top place is Netherlands (BBC, 2013).
The UK government has placed many strategies to help companies and individuals obtain skills and
necessary work training such as the Action Plan 2012 (CIPD, 2012); this was a strategy to help people
with necessary skills to join the job market and boost the economy. UK has also introduced Job Centre
Plus (2002) which is a government executive agency working to aid individuals with employment
providing training and skills and employers with obtaining desired employees.
However; having just come out of recession there is the argument of the capability of the government
being able to fund all training for each individual (,). But the UK retains some of the best
organisations and agencies to help build further training and skills. For instance the Department of
Business, Innovations and Skills (BIS) brings together all the levels of the economy including skills ,
higher education and trade (BIS,2012).Even though it is a UK department, much of the skills policy
and funding is set at devolved nation level.
On the other hand UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES) is a non departmental civic
body functioning as part of a societal corporation. They are there to provide strategic leadership on
skills and employment issues (UKCES, 2012).Their mission is to ...raise skill levels...create better jobs

Comparing Édouard Manet s Le Déjeuner Sur L herbe (Luncheon on the Grass) to Henri Matisse s Le
Bonheur de Vivre (The Joy of Life): An Essay
Pastoral and country settings are featured in countless paintings that hang in museums across the
world, however, not many of them were as rule breaking, revolutionary, and inspiring at their initial
exhibitions as Édouard Manet s (ca. 1832 1883) Le Déjeuner Sur L herbe (1862 1863) and Henri
Matisse s (ca. 1869 1954) Le Bonheur de Vivre (1905 1906) had been. In Le Déjeuner Sur L herbe
(see fig 1), Manet painted a nude woman in a sensual country setting to challenge the idea of what the
female nude is to be in art. Le Déjeuner is a Realism work and in concert with its subject, was a cause
scandal which left ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Had he not liked the color and placement, he would scrape away the dry paint, and continue his work
anew (Turner, 289). Another technique applied to Le Déjeuner, as seen in the trees and background of
the painting, is the fundamental impressionist technique of tache, which was a thick application of
bold strokes of color on the canvas (National Gallery of Ireland, Brushstrokes ). In addition to those
methods, his very flat and almost sketch like outlining of the female nude in Le Déjeuner, a technique
he developed under Couture, caused people to believe that the work was actually presented unfinished
during its original showing (Smarthistory, Manet, Le Déjeuner Sur L herbe ) . There is no subtle fade
of light and color from the background to the small window of a horizon between the trees, to the
human subjects. As a result, the darkness of the

The Blind Side( Michael Oher)
Michael Oher is an immense human being. At the age of sixteen, he had a 20 inch neck, 50 inch waist,
and a 58 inch chest. Larger measurements, that is, than every single member of the Washington
Redskins. This fact alone meant that his final years in high school, Oher was the focus of attention of
college coaches across America grown men taking detours of hundreds of miles to watch him practice,
in the hope of persuading him to play for their team. Had these coaches the power to design a
prototypical left tackle, Oher s six foot five, 330 pound frame would have been pretty close to their
model. And yet the fact that he was even still at high school was, in itself, nothing short of a miracle.
The focal point of Michael Lewis s The Blind ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The condition of his being accepted by his high school was greater academic achievement; unless his
grade point average reaches a certain level, he won t be allowed to go to college no matter how many
coaches are desperate for him to play.
The subject of the relationship between high school sports and educational achievement has been
covered before. Buzz Bissinger s Friday Night Lights , which has since been the inspiration for a
movie and a TV series, followed a high school team in Texas for a season. Far from the saccharine,
wholesome version of schooldays that we are accustomed to, Bissinger painted an unhappy and
controversial portrait of a white community interested in black children only so far as they could help
compete for the state championship; a school with $5,000 for the English department but $70,000 for
travel to away matches; allegations of pain killers being used illegally to get injured teenagers playing
as soon as possible. Such was the controversy the book caused that Bissinger, who had spent a year in
the town, didn t return until 20 years later.
The Blind Side has a more uplifting tale at its heart. Yet this does not stop it from being an unsettling
story. The Tuohys are accused of taking Michael into their lives solely to ensure that he can

The Characters In Jack London s The Call Of The Wild
Then an old wolf, gaunt and battle scarred, came forward. Buck writhed his lips into the preliminary
of a snarl, but sniffed noses with him. Whereupon the old wolf sat down, pointed nose at the moon,
and broke out the long wolf howl. The others sat down and howled. And now the call came to Buck in
unmistakable accents. He, too, sat down and howled. This over, he came out of his angle and the pack
crowded around him, sniffing in half friendly, half savage manner. The leaders lifted the yelp of the
pack and sprang away into the woods. The wolves swung in behind, yelping in chorus. And Buck ran
with them, side by side with the wild brother, yelping as he ran. (82) In the novel, The Call of the
Wild, Jack London tells the story of a dog named Buck who transforms from a tamed dog to a wild
animal that is called back into the wild. At the beginning of the story, Buck lived in a luxurious house
but was kidnapped and sold to a Klondike gold hunter. Buck became experienced at being in the
harness of a sledding team. The wilderness conditions and harsh masters made Buck stronger as his
instincts grew stronger. When Buck s life was in peril, John Thornton rescued him from his cruel
master. As John Thornton made Buck healthy again, their relationship grew, and Buck became his
favorite dog. Though Buck had a devotion and love for his final owner, he felt a strong, instinctual
calling to be back in the wild. The Call of the Wild is a good book because it is realistic, has a strong

Has the Development of Human Resource Management Practices...
Trade unions have been a central part of the Australian workplace. The workplace however has
changed over the past two decades and it is possible that the role of trade unions within the workplace
has been replaced by the introduction of Human Resource Management (HRM) practices. As stated by
Leigh, 2005 from 1914 until 1980, at least two in five workers were members of a union and unionism
was therefore for the most part the dominant approach, in terms of employment relations. However
current membership is at around 20 per cent and coinciding with this decline in trade union
membership is the increase in the step away from collectivism to individualism and the use of
strategic HRM practices in response to the shift from a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In other words, recognising human resources as assets as they strive for effective organisational
performance. HRM is essentially an approach rooted in the concept of individualism whereby
employers deal with workers individually and or individual employees prefer to look after their own
interests rather than relying on third parties (Balnave et al, 2009). HRM emerged in Australia during
the 1980 s, with both the hard and soft approach being applied to the Australian workforce. Both focus
on corporate performance, with the hard approach viewing employees as a commodity and
emphasising job standarisation, employee measurement and organisational values and priorities
(Balnave et al, 2009). The soft approach however has a humanistic view that emphasises employee
empowerment as they work towards meeting organisational and personal objectives. With this in
mind, the practices employed by the HRM approach have been identified as crucial in developing
sustainable competitive advantage for organisations. They include; selectivity in recruiting, equal
employment opportunity, training and development, strategic rewards systems/pay for performance
and dismissal (Flanagan and Deshpande, 1996). The strategic approach to recruitment and selection
ensures that a great emphasis is placed on employee potential and personal characteristics with
staffing linked to organisation s objectives and

Principles Of Total Quality Management
Total Quality management is a usual practice during and administration approach that began in the

The initial phase in the TQM procedure, at that point, is to acknowledge there is an issue and that it
can be controlled. Survey and change manage how the aftereffects of a review are dealt with.
2. Processes, not people, are the issue:
If the procedure causing issues, it won t make any difference how often you enlist new representatives
or what number of instructional meetings you put them through. Fix the procedure and after that
prepare your people on these new actions. Conversely, revive the general population to function
admirably, inventively, profitably, and the association can fly. Legitimately accordingly, the

The Distrust Between Sexes By Karen Horney
Battle of the Sexes
(What is the differences between men and women?)
Man and women were made is the beginning of time. The reason why, we will never know, but
throughout history these two beings have been compared through every aspects of life. Men are the
dominate creatures, controlling the earth, while women are the nurturers. The obvious differences
between men and women have been capitalized and fought over throughout humankind s history.
Many of the people in the world have strong opinions on both genders and what their roles are and
why they are the way that they are. One of these famous writers is Karen Horney. An informational,

Baseball Ball Monologue
It is a cold grey afternoon with a dull sky and ragged clouds. The last leaf on the tree was finally
blown off by the wind, the leaves crunched beneath your feet as you walk on it. The awful smell of
dried leaves filled the air and out in the distance, the leafless tree s branches wobbled around as the
wind pushed and blow them around. The dark clouds look furious but me and my younger brother,
Allie are happy as hell. We just got a new baseball ball gifted from my older brother, D.B. We start
enjoying and playing some baseball throws. As I take a step and throw the ball, the scarlet and gold
leaves get crunched. The wide ground is lit by some rays, shining through a thin layer of grey cloud

of conflicting instructions as I race towards him. The panic in my brain increases as the raindrops falls
slowly on his body. Frozen in panic and shrill scream in my brain as I hold Allie s body, as he lay
breathless and still. Gasps, murmurs from the crowd, breaks my panic. Then medics plough through
the crowd and with precision put Allie on oxygen and wheel his motionless body away. It feels as
though walls are closing in on me, as I try to block out the vicious stares of all the phonies in the
crowd. As the ambulance disappears I feel Allie is going far away from me just like those red leaves,
falling from the trees sway gently in the autumn wind. My mother and my father, later, walks towards
me filled with panic and turns to me, demanding an answer to a question I haven t heard over the din

The governor has line item veto authority. Line item veto is when an executive authority decides to

Argumentative Essay About Halloween
Christian s who ever said your Halloween has to be evil?
Most Christians I think it s fair to say cringe at the thought of Halloween? But, who ever said that it
has to be an evil time for them or those who visit there house for candy on that night? With the right
purpose and motive it can actually be a very fun and exciting night! Helping to take it back from those
who think it is just plain evil, at least for ourselves to begin with. Maybe, it s because somehow so few
have been educated on halloween s history. Or the history of witches and witchcraft in our Country
and around the world. Why, is it that so many attach or try to attach witches with Halloween? Witches
have been seen in books and movies as ugly, evil and cruel! They were never suppose to be people
that were role models to our childen. Or ones they wanted to dress like or imitate in any way. On Oct
31st most people will simply ignore the dark side of Halloween. The vast majority of the population
will dress up in costumes, go to parties and eat candy without ever even considering where the holiday
came from or what certain people are doing behind closed doors on that night. The history of

Weight Loss Profile
Identifying your Health and Weight Profile for Successful Weight Loss
Even though there are some people who gain weight for genetic reasons, typically the main cause of
having excess pounds on your frame comes from the type of lifestyle that you lead. This means that if
you want to lose weight, you need to step back and see where your health flaws in your lifestyle lay.
If you are the type of person to indulge in fast food, sweets and other high calorie indulgences on a

If you want to honestly see what your health and eating habits are, you can always make yourself up a

Congruence In Social Work Research Paper
Congruence is an essential part of social work practice and being a facilitator of group work. As
described by Shalka (2009), congruence is when one s feelings, thinking, and behaviour are in

our actions are informed by our principles. Moreover, acting in congruence is vital in social work
because of its nature, which revolves around helping other people live better lives. As prescribed by

Whisky Facts
Some Facts About Whiskey or Whisky
By Ed Elam
Jun 15, 2012
When discussing whisky the first thing that needs to be know is that there are two legitimate spellings.
The Scotts and Canadians spell whisky without the e , while the Irish and Americans spell it with an e
as in whiskey. This should be the first indication that the world of whisky is a very complicated one
and has many regional differences in taste and production. This is part of what makes whisky such an
interesting and enjoyable spirit.
Â
Historically it is believed that the Irish were the first to make whiskey, however the Scotts have also
laid claim to being the first whisky producers. The Irish used the term uisce beatha ( Water of Life in
Gaelic) to describe whiskey, so it must have been important.

In Scotland the malted barley is roasted over open peat fires to dry, this results in the grain picking up
the peat flavour. In Ireland, the malted barely is dried in closed ovens, and is never exposed to the
smoke. The process of mashing and fermentation is much the same for both countries. In the
distillation step, the Irish, most of the time, distill their product three times, which results in a very
pure distillate which makes Irish whiskey exceptionally smooth. The Scottish distill their product
twice and this results in more flavour in the spirit.
Â
In North America there is Canadian whisky and American whiskey, which has a number of regional
classifications including Bourbon and Tennessee whiskey. Each product in North America is unique
and is regulated by the government. Canadian whisky is the number one imported spirit into the
United States and is second in consumption only to vodka.

wonder what they do to piss you off like everyone else because bad complainers spread negatively.
Maybe it s best with your family to not sweat the mildly annoying pet peeves. What children would
want to commit their lives to a church that their parents always complain about. And, will a child that
consently hears murmuring from their parents about their grandparents learn to respect their elders as
they should? It only makes sense that grumbling parents raise grumbling kids, and grumbling kids turn
into grumbling adults. Constantly voicing pet peeves and complaints at your job can cause problems
and shape how people perceive you. A general atmosphere of dissatisfaction grows when there is
complaining in the work place. If you come across as intolerant, you convey to others that you re a
slow adapter and picky. A seasoned complainer rarely takes personal ownership, which only highlights
the powerlessness that got them complaining in the first place so, chill out! No one is perfect and you
are annoying

Roy Lichtenstein Andy Warhol Comparison
Compare and Contrast of Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein
Pop art is a way of popular art that was most popular in the early to mid 1900 s. Pop art is the type of
art is more based on what the art is about and not too much involved in making the picture look great.
Pop art is a lot of what you see when you think about old American military posters. Another example
of American pop art is Campbell s Chicken Noodle soup can labels. The labels on the can are mainly
focused on advertising the soup than they are actually making the label look like an art.
One of the most well known pop artists is Andy Warhol. He was born August 6, 1928 in Pittsburgh,

Research Paper On Don Quixote
Quixotic Knights The classic Spanish novel, Don Quixote, is an amusing and adventurous tale written
by Miguel de Cervantes. Don Quixote is an aspiring knight errant who dreams of completing deeds
similar to the characters in his romance novels. This story is an amusing and adventurous tale with
creative plot and characters. Irony and symbolism play a huge part in this book. These elements put a
unique and enjoyable twist on perspective of characters. Cervantes usually portrays peasant characters
in a better light than the richer folk. This also made some characters more enjoyable. For example, the
shepherds are more wise and sensible than most of the royals. Likewise, although not rich, most of the
townspeople are more helpful than authority

Cause And Effects Of The Haiti Earthquake
On January 12th, 2010, the small country of Haiti was hit by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake that
devastated the city of Port au Prince and surrounding areas (Haiti earthquake of 2010, 2015). The 30
second disaster was just the beginning of a collection of aftershocks that then struck the country
relentlessly for days (Haiti earthquake of 2010, 2015). Many areas were reduced to rubble leaving
approximately one million Haitians homeless and 350 000 dead and another 300 000 injured (Haiti
earthquake of 2010, 2015). The ill prepared country was sitting on two tectonic plates the Caribbean
and the North American, where there was slippage resulting in the earthquake (KS3 Bitesize
Geography). Following the environmental catastrophe, the international community responded, and a
relief effort began (Haiti earthquake of 2010, 2015). Though the earthquake happened quickly, the
lasting impact and trauma remained. In an article from the Wall Street Journal, Luhnow and Dugan
stated that following the event many people went searching for psychological support and aid instead
of physical (2010). After having buildings tumble and fall onto people, many suffered from PTSD and
survivors guilt; children were the most emotionally traumatized, and there was a fundamental lack of
aid for facing psychological traumas endured by so many (Luhnow Dugan, 2010). As a society, an
increase in crime and violence is on the rise; Haitians had no defined structure in communities, and
most established norms

The Social Human Nature And Socialization In Today s Society
In today s society people all over the world can communicate with one another. This is called
socialization, this is when several people can interact with one another. Socialization starts from the
minute you are born and continues with a person for the rest of their lives. Not everyone in this world
can social as easily as others. This is due to the environment they grow up in. If a person grows up
isolated then it it more than obvious they will not act the same way as someone who grew up in a
normal environment.
In the movie Room, Jack the little boy who has always been isolated only socialized with his mom.
His was of socializing was having every single meal with his mom, playing with her, watching tv,
taking a bath and even screaming at the skylight hoping someone would hear them. Even though he
only interacted with Joy, his mom, Jack did learn basic things. Usually a feral child would not be able
to talk, walk or even eat normal foods, but Jack could because he had his mother. This was an
advantage to him, because when they were free he struggled, but it could have been worsed.
Socialization is a part of the human being and it can not be taken away. According to an article named,
The Social Human... Nature vs Nurture Socialization, Nature is how we are affected by our biology,
and nurture is how we are affected by our environment. This is explaining that the nature part of
socialization comes even before you are born. It is passed down to you by your parents. It

The Importance of Class to Voting Behavior Essay
The Importance of Class to Voting Behavior
One of the main factors for voting behaviour is class but how important is it. Conventionally. Class is
seen in the terms of occupation. Those who are in manual jobs are placed in the Working Class and are
expected to vote fro the labour party. Whilst those in non manual jobs are to be found in the Middle
Class and are expected to vote for the Conservatives. The majority of people belong to the working
class sector and therefore ideally if class was the most important factor then Labour would when every
single election. During 1945 and 1970 elections, of course this did not happen labour was not elected
at every election. As they were not elected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From February 1974 the link slowly and fitfully weakened and since 1983 the proportion has been
under half (44 7%) with a majority voting for either the class enemy or for the non class centre or
nationalists parties. This trend should not be exaggerated, however class still remains the single most
important social factor underlying the vote.
In 1985, the theory of class dealignment came under attack from the Heath thesis which was a book
which claimed that the was no evidence that there had been a fall in working class loyalty to the
labour party but actually the numbers of working class people actually dropped which had lead to a
fall in the number of labour voters which proves that Class is a rather important factor for voting.
Class alignment was still important but the balance of classes was changing. At the heart of the
argument between voting alignment is the definition of Class . Conventional definitions just said it
was manual and non manual workers but now many other things are taken into consideration. I can
see this from what Heath said in 1991 Distinguished according to their degree of economic security,
their authority in the workplace, their prospects of economic advancement and their sources as well as
their level of income. In other words, these days there are factors such as Income and wealth,

The Lone Ranger And Tonto Fistfight Essay
The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven is a book written by; Sherman Alexie. In this book,
Alexie writes about a group of Native Americans who live on the Spokane Indian Reservation. As this
novel may be fiction, some of the stories that are portrayed in the text have some very real meaning
the them. These Native Americans endure lots of heartache and tragedy in this book as they are faced
with problems like alcoholism, car accidents, loss of loved one and houses burning. In the face of
adversity, many of these Native Americans in this story carry on with their lives and become Warriors
. The search for warriors in this publication has many themes that come along with it such as;
Resilience and Forgiveness. This desire of being a warrior drives characters in this book to stand out
and be strong leaders. This is needed because many Native Americans on the reservation needs a
warrior to stand up and fight for them. Currently, a warrior does not have the same meaning as it did
centuries ago. When looking for a warrior we will not find a gladiator or Spartan walking the streets.
What we will find is a person who is strong and resilient enough to carry on and care for his own
family or loved ones around them. A warrior is possible to find today, just many are looking in the
wrong places as this novel give clarity to what a true warrior is. All through Sherman Alexies writing,
there ae stories of how the Native Americans he is writing about are faced with adversity. The

My View Using Online Train Tickets Buying
Executive Summary:
In my view using online train tickets buying is very good, and also provides quicker service to the
customers, which is easily accessible to the public. As an enterprise architect (EA) I would implement
this advanced buying or booking system but we should keep it safer. Through a detailed research there
would be many number of advantages and disadvantages of this system. We can know the availability
and buying of the tickets online.
By implementing this system it reduces the public effort going to the train station and making a
booking there, the customer can book online while he is sitting in his home. Below SWOT analysis
describes about the online ticket buying or booking in functional and non functional point of view.
Though this system has weaknesses which have been mentioned in the SWOT analysis which can be
avoided by taking counter measurements.

The Accomplishments Of Edmund Kean
Edmund Kean, one of the greatest and most historic British actors to ever live. Kean might have been
born on March 17th in the year of 1789,and I say might have because no one really knows when he
was born. The exact date of his birth has been a mystery for what seems like forever now, and as the
years keep going, the chance of this mystery being solved becomes less and less possible. We re at the
point now where we ll probably never find out when Edmund Kean was born, all we have is a rough
estimate at the moment. He had a turbulent life and therefore he also used that to his advantage by
being a turbulent genius and was recognized for his megalomania and his erotic behavior which
caused him being a villain it mostly every Shakespearean play he took part in. (Britannica). Something
that has actually been proven was that his birth mother was a lady named Ann Carey, she was actually
an actress. His father was Edmund Kean the first, He died at a very young age after having his son. He
was a reckless youth and ended up killing himself at a young age of twenty two years of age. After
Kean s death, the young boy was pretty much adopted by his fathers oldest brother, Moses Keen and
his wife Charlotte Tidswell. He was a part time member of the Drury Lane Theater Comapany, and
work the play named The 11th Duke of Norfolk.(Brittanica).Charlotte Tidswell really worked hard at

Fourth amendment of United States Constitution protects people from being undergone unwarranted

Amendment U.S. Constitution, n.d.)
The fourth amendment was proposed on September 25th, 1789 along with eleven other amendments
and ratified in 1791 by three fourths of the state legislatures. (Bill of Rights Transcript)

In that classic old movie, Papillon, starring Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman, there is a particular
phrase that stays in my mind. It occurs when McQueen, playing Papillon, is in solitary confinement
and is obviously on the point of dying. He goes into a sort of coma and starts seeing friends of his who
are now dead. Then an authoritarian sounding voice says, I accuse you of a wasted life. It is on this
subject that I write this particular essay.
Many of us of heard of Abraham Maslow s Pyramid of Human Needs. We know a little about the
basic needs of food, shelter, et cetera. We know of feelings of belonging and self esteem. We also
know of self actualization, though there is often confusion between self actualization and self
realization. So I d like to explain a little about the difference here.
Self Actualization
Self actualization refers to becoming as much as we can in the practical pragmatic scheme of affairs. It
refers to developing our talents, our skills, in educating ourselves to the best of our ability, being the

These requirements define what is acceptable as capital and provide for standard methods of
measuring the risks incurred by the Bank. APRA has set minimum ratios that compare the regulatory
capital with risk weighted on and off balance sheet assets. The minimum risk weighted capital ratio is
8%. The following formula is used to calculate the risk weighted capital ratio:
Risk weighted capital ratio = Qualifying capital . Total risk weighted assets
The numerator of the ratio is qualifying capital, which includes Tier 1 capital such as paid up ordinary
shares and retained profits, and Tier 2 capital such as term subordinated debt after making required
deductions for items such as goodwill and equity holdings in other banks.
Equity capital is a permanent commitment of funds which earns the residual income of the firm after

Louisiana Chemicals Affect Human Health
Louisiana Chemicals: Sources and Human Health
Piers A. Cropp
Lynn University
Following the industrial revolution, societies across the world began to notice strange effects on
individuals throughout certain local communities. Though toxicology was a relatively new and
rudimentary practice at the time, scientists were able to trace these effects back to chemicals being
exposed to industrial workers, their families, and nearby neighborhoods. Unfortunately, industry in the
United States continued to expand with little regard for the effects on human health. As a result from
this expansion the amount of chemicals released into the atmosphere skyrocketed continuously all the
way to present day society. However, as industry expanded so did scientific technology, the

Ammonia inhalation causes upper respiratory irritation. In a study conducted in 1973, four of six
participants admitted to experiencing irritation of the nose and eyes after an exposure to 50 ppm of
ammonia for 10 minutes. Thirty percent of the participants described nose, eye, and throat irritation at
an exposure of 75 ppm for 5 minutes. However, low occupational exposure over a period of about
fourteen years showed no effect on pulmonary function. However, rare cases of high concentrated
exposure show sever effects. For example, around 1989 an adult male was found unconscious next to
a ruptured pipeline carrying liquid ammonia. He suffered burns on his eyes as well as his skin, and
experienced difficulty breathing. Throughout the following month, he suffered from cases of complete
circulatory collapse (which he was resuscitated from) and eventually died from cardiac arrest.
Exposure to high concentrations of ammonia (2,500 ppm) can potentially lead to cardiovascular
problems including: elevated pulse, rise in blood pressure, and cardiac

The Value Of A Life
Kathleen Sullivan
Professor Janice Shiu
GOVT 35
23 September 2014
The Value of a Life Countries less privileged than America face the reoccurring issue of being taken
advantage of. This occurs because these countries have high unemployment rates and are in poverty so
they are given jobs through American factories. This process, though, is not always a fair one. Haiti
and China are both countries with bad labor regulations, usually by American influence, and this hurts
the welfare of these countries as a whole, the individuals in these countries, and the morality of
America. Dupuy (2014) writes that Haiti s people, trapped working in factories for cheap labor, are
faced with a hard life and various brutalities. Both adults and children must live these lives of horrible
situations where they have no other choice than to work at extremely low wages because of Haiti s
poverty levels. Whether they are sent away from their families to live in the city, in order to have a
better life, or they re born poor and go to the city to work everyday, these people do not live a good
life. The children who work have long hours, usually from early dawn until night, and go home,
sometimes only to be abused. (Dupuy, 2014). These conditions are put onto lonely, young, and
exhausted children who are not living with their families. But these conditions of long work hours in
Haiti do not only apply to children, but also young people and middle aged, too (Shah, 1998). The

The Horse After The Kentucky Derby By Heidi Van De Motter
From Track to Triumph
Do you ever wonder what happens to the horses after the Kentucky Derby? Some retire peacefully
after a life on the track, some are rehomed but many are sold to slaughter for the sake of a paycheck.
Luckily, there are activists in the equestrian world standing ready to take these in these helpless
athletes. Gallop On, a non profit thoroughbred rescue located in northern Ohio, was founded to do just
that.
Heidi Van De Motter, the owner of Gallop On, currently has 15 horses in her care. Her goal is to have
them retrained and sold for the use of another sport.
Thousands of Thoroughbred racehorses will have only a three to four year racing career if any at all.
There may be no future for them at all and possibly slaughter. Van De Motter said.
Horses are trained by Heidi s interns in basic dressage and jumping, very different from their past of
galloping counter clockwise around a racetrack. Thoroughbreds have acquired a false stigma, similar
to that of pitbull dogs, making them difficult to home. The thoroughbred is a flighty breed, they are
designed to be fast and agile. These biological tendencies are reinforced after race training when they
are taught only to gallop as fast as possible.
Very few people invest money in the training of their retired racehorses. That puts them at an extreme
disadvantage in the sport horse world. Steuart Pittman, president of the Retired Racehorse Project,
said.
The jockeys and handlers are experienced with this

  • 2. Unit 7 Hooke s Law Lab Unit 7 Hooke s Law Introduction This lab will test the relationship between the spring constant, k, from Hooke s Law and the change in applied force resulting in displacement. Using two different methods, part one and two of the lab will determine the spring constant, k. In part one we will hang different masses from the spring so that we can alter the amount of force acting on it. After applying these weights, one can measure the displacement caused by this action. Hooke s equation will yield a straight line graph of F (weight) versus x (displacement). The slope of the graph will yield the spring constant, k. In part two we will be using the oscillation of the mass on the spring as an example of SMH. By graphing the oscillation, we can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fairy tales continue to imply women to be dependent on men, like a princess on a prince. Princesses are put on hyper sexualized royal attire, then again to reinforce the idea of the female role and their physical modifications to please men. Little girls are given the idea of becoming a princess like Cinderella. They fantasize about wearing a ball gown and being swept off their feet. Even the strongest female characters in the role plays are most to be saved by a man with wealth and over power. Cinderella is setting a standard for women and limiting female gender roles to full exploration of their femininity. Typically the placement of the female role is perceived as being weaker, smaller and more fragile. Culturally, they are set as being passive and domesticated, all oriented towards submission and weakness. In the story Cinderella is slaved and abused by her step mother and sisters. It is always a competition between the step sisters to be the most beautiful one for the prince. In the dominant narrative by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, they explain the role that Cinderella was given and she was miserable. Looking for an escape her godmother beautifies her. Giving her that perfect look to get the prince s approval. Cinderella had to leave the ball before the spell and lost her slipper. According to the prince, if the slipper fit, the lucky one becomes his beloved wife. • 5. UK Government s Strategy to Imporve Workplace Proficiency... The United Kingdom provides training for workers to improve their skills enabling them to expand into the labour market. Buckley et al (2007) illustrate training as a planned and systematic effort to modify... skills through learning... to achieve effective performance . It is explained as improving technical capabilities of workers and embedding them further into occupational community (Green et al, 2012). Gold et al (2010) further elucidates this by adding that training is essentially skill orientated. The UK government have put forth new strategies aimed at developing the UK s workforce proficiency (Stevens, 2013) for instance traineeship, apprenticeship, pre job training and further education made vastly available for all. This essay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Out of the 24 countries studied upon, UK plummets to 22nd place for numeric skills and 21st place for literature; holding top place is Netherlands (BBC, 2013). The UK government has placed many strategies to help companies and individuals obtain skills and necessary work training such as the Action Plan 2012 (CIPD, 2012); this was a strategy to help people with necessary skills to join the job market and boost the economy. UK has also introduced Job Centre Plus (2002) which is a government executive agency working to aid individuals with employment providing training and skills and employers with obtaining desired employees. However; having just come out of recession there is the argument of the capability of the government being able to fund all training for each individual (,). But the UK retains some of the best organisations and agencies to help build further training and skills. For instance the Department of Business, Innovations and Skills (BIS) brings together all the levels of the economy including skills , higher education and trade (BIS,2012).Even though it is a UK department, much of the skills policy and funding is set at devolved nation level. On the other hand UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES) is a non departmental civic body functioning as part of a societal corporation. Had he not liked the color and placement, he would scrape away the dry paint, and continue his work anew (Turner, 289). Another technique applied to Le Déjeuner, as seen in the trees and background of the painting, is the fundamental impressionist technique of tache, which was a thick application of bold strokes of color on the canvas (National Gallery of Ireland, Brushstrokes ). In addition to those methods, his very flat and almost sketch like outlining of the female nude in Le Déjeuner, a technique he developed under Couture, caused people to believe that the work was actually presented unfinished during its original showing (Smarthistory, Manet, Le Déjeuner Sur L herbe ) . There is no subtle fade of light and color from the background to the small window of a horizon between the trees, to the human subjects. As a result, the darkness of the ... • 7. The Blind Side( Michael Oher) Michael Oher is an immense human being. At the age of sixteen, he had a 20 inch neck, 50 inch waist, and a 58 inch chest. Larger measurements, that is, than every single member of the Washington Redskins. This fact alone meant that his final years in high school, Oher was the focus of attention of college coaches across America grown men taking detours of hundreds of miles to watch him practice, in the hope of persuading him to play for their team. Had these coaches the power to design a prototypical left tackle, Oher s six foot five, 330 pound frame would have been pretty close to their model. And yet the fact that he was even still at high school was, in itself, nothing short of a miracle. The focal point of Michael Lewis s The Blind ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The condition of his being accepted by his high school was greater academic achievement; unless his grade point average reaches a certain level, he won t be allowed to go to college no matter how many coaches are desperate for him to play. The subject of the relationship between high school sports and educational achievement has been covered before. Buzz Bissinger s Friday Night Lights , which has since been the inspiration for a movie and a TV series, followed a high school team in Texas for a season. Far from the saccharine, wholesome version of schooldays that we are accustomed to, Bissinger painted an unhappy and controversial portrait of a white community interested in black children only so far as they could help compete for the state championship; a school with $5,000 for the English department but $70,000 for travel to away matches; allegations of pain killers being used illegally to get injured teenagers playing as soon as possible. Such was the controversy the book caused that Bissinger, who had spent a year in the town, didn t return until 20 years later. The Blind Side has a more uplifting tale at its heart. Yet this does not stop it from being an unsettling story. The Tuohys are accused of taking Michael into their lives solely to ensure that he can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Characters In Jack London s The Call Of The Wild Then an old wolf, gaunt and battle scarred, came forward. Buck writhed his lips into the preliminary of a snarl, but sniffed noses with him. Whereupon the old wolf sat down, pointed nose at the moon, and broke out the long wolf howl. The others sat down and howled. And now the call came to Buck in unmistakable accents. He, too, sat down and howled. This over, he came out of his angle and the pack crowded around him, sniffing in half friendly, half savage manner. The leaders lifted the yelp of the pack and sprang away into the woods. The wolves swung in behind, yelping in chorus. And Buck ran with them, side by side with the wild brother, yelping as he ran. The workplace however has changed over the past two decades and it is possible that the role of trade unions within the workplace has been replaced by the introduction of Human Resource Management (HRM) practices. As stated by Leigh, 2005 from 1914 until 1980, at least two in five workers were members of a union and unionism was therefore for the most part the dominant approach, in terms of employment relations. HRM emerged in Australia during the 1980 s, with both the hard and soft approach being applied to the Australian workforce. Both focus on corporate performance, with the hard approach viewing employees as a commodity and emphasising job standarisation, employee measurement and organisational values and priorities (Balnave et al, 2009). The soft approach however has a humanistic view that emphasises employee empowerment as they work towards meeting organisational and personal objectives. With this in mind, the practices employed by the HRM approach have been identified as crucial in developing sustainable competitive advantage for organisations. They include; selectivity in recruiting, equal employment opportunity, training and development, strategic rewards systems/pay for performance and dismissal (Flanagan and Deshpande, 1996). We re at the point now where we ll probably never find out when Edmund Kean was born, all we have is a rough estimate at the moment. He had a turbulent life and therefore he also used that to his advantage by being a turbulent genius and was recognized for his megalomania and his erotic behavior which caused him being a villain it mostly every Shakespearean play he took part in. (Britannica). Something that has actually been proven was that his birth mother was a lady named Ann Carey, she was actually an actress. His father was Edmund Kean the first, He died at a very young age after having his son. He was a reckless youth and ended up killing himself at a young age of twenty two years of age. After Kean s death, the young boy was pretty much adopted by his fathers oldest brother, Moses Keen and his wife Charlotte Tidswell. He was a part time member of the Drury Lane Theater Comapany, and work the play named The 11th Duke of Norfolk.(Brittanica).Charlotte Tidswell really worked hard at trying to make young Kean to grow up and be a very well educated and mannered person, but her attempts ... For a police officer to search a car, he should reasonably believe that passengers might be carrying something. They do not need a warrant because cars are not houses. (Maryland v. Dyson, U.S Sup. Ct. 1999) (Searches and Seizures: The Limitations of the Police, n.d.) If officers have a probable cause to search the car, they can frisk remaining passengers and their belongings also. It occurs when McQueen, playing Papillon, is in solitary confinement and is obviously on the point of dying. He goes into a sort of coma and starts seeing friends of his who are now dead. Then an authoritarian sounding voice says, I accuse you of a wasted life. It is on this subject that I write this particular essay. Many of us of heard of Abraham Maslow s Pyramid of Human Needs. We know a little about the basic needs of food, shelter, et cetera. We know of feelings of belonging and self esteem. We also know of self actualization, though there is often confusion between self actualization and self realization. So I d like to explain a little about the difference here. Self Actualization Self actualization refers to becoming as much as we can in the practical pragmatic scheme of affairs. It refers to developing our talents, our skills, in educating ourselves to the best of our ability, being the best we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

APRA has set minimum ratios that compare the regulatory capital with risk weighted on and off balance sheet assets. The minimum risk weighted capital ratio is 8%. The following formula is used to calculate the risk weighted capital ratio: Risk weighted capital ratio = Qualifying capital . Total risk weighted assets The numerator of the ratio is qualifying capital, which includes Tier 1 capital such as paid up ordinary shares and retained profits, and Tier 2 capital such as term subordinated debt after making required deductions for items such as goodwill and equity holdings in other banks. Equity capital is a permanent commitment of funds which earns the residual income of the firm after all interest and other costs have been paid. • 33. Louisiana Chemicals Affect Human Health Louisiana Chemicals: Sources and Human Health Piers A. Cropp Lynn University Following the industrial revolution, societies across the world began to notice strange effects on individuals throughout certain local communities. Though toxicology was a relatively new and rudimentary practice at the time, scientists were able to trace these effects back to chemicals being exposed to industrial workers, their families, and nearby neighborhoods. Unfortunately, industry in the United States continued to expand with little regard for the effects on human health. As a result from this expansion the amount of chemicals released into the atmosphere skyrocketed continuously all the way to present day society. However, as industry expanded so did scientific technology, the understanding of chemicals, their exposure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ammonia inhalation causes upper respiratory irritation. In a study conducted in 1973, four of six participants admitted to experiencing irritation of the nose and eyes after an exposure to 50 ppm of ammonia for 10 minutes. Thirty percent of the participants described nose, eye, and throat irritation at an exposure of 75 ppm for 5 minutes. However, low occupational exposure over a period of about fourteen years showed no effect on pulmonary function. However, rare cases of high concentrated exposure show sever effects. For example, around 1989 an adult male was found unconscious next to a ruptured pipeline carrying liquid ammonia. He suffered burns on his eyes as well as his skin, and experienced difficulty breathing. Throughout the following month, he suffered from cases of complete circulatory collapse (which he was resuscitated from) and eventually died from cardiac arrest. Exposure to high concentrations of ammonia (2,500 ppm) can potentially lead to cardiovascular problems including: elevated pulse, rise in blood pressure, and cardiac ... • 34. The Value Of A Life Kathleen Sullivan Professor Janice Shiu GOVT 35 23 September 2014 The Value of a Life Countries less privileged than America face the reoccurring issue of being taken advantage of. This occurs because these countries have high unemployment rates and are in poverty so they are given jobs through American factories. This process, though, is not always a fair one. Haiti and China are both countries with bad labor regulations, usually by American influence, and this hurts the welfare of these countries as a whole, the individuals in these countries, and the morality of America. Dupuy (2014) writes that Haiti s people, trapped working in factories for cheap labor, are faced with a hard life and various brutalities. Both adults and children must live these lives of horrible situations where they have no other choice than to work at extremely low wages because of Haiti s poverty levels. Whether they are sent away from their families to live in the city, in order to have a better life, or they re born poor and go to the city to work everyday, these people do not live a good life. The children who work have long hours, usually from early dawn until night, and go home, sometimes only to be abused. (Dupuy, 2014). These conditions are put onto lonely, young, and exhausted children who are not living with their families. But these conditions of long work hours in Haiti do not only apply to children, but also young people and middle aged, too (Shah, 1998). The United States ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. The Horse After The Kentucky Derby By Heidi Van De Motter From Track to Triumph Do you ever wonder what happens to the horses after the Kentucky Derby? Some retire peacefully after a life on the track, some are rehomed but many are sold to slaughter for the sake of a paycheck. Luckily, there are activists in the equestrian world standing ready to take these in these helpless athletes. Gallop On, a non profit thoroughbred rescue located in northern Ohio, was founded to do just that. Heidi Van De Motter, the owner of Gallop On, currently has 15 horses in her care. Her goal is to have them retrained and sold for the use of another sport. Thousands of Thoroughbred racehorses will have only a three to four year racing career if any at all. There may be no future for them at all and possibly slaughter. Van De Motter said. Horses are trained by Heidi s interns in basic dressage and jumping, very different from their past of galloping counter clockwise around a racetrack. Thoroughbreds have acquired a false stigma, similar to that of pitbull dogs, making them difficult to home. The thoroughbred is a flighty breed, they are designed to be fast and agile. These biological tendencies are reinforced after race training when they are taught only to gallop as fast as possible. Very few people invest money in the training of their retired racehorses. That puts them at an extreme disadvantage in the sport horse world. Steuart Pittman, president of the Retired Racehorse Project, said. The jockeys and handlers are experienced with this ... Conversely, educational costs aren t deductible if the education is required to get into the field (as opposed to staying in the field) or qualifies you for a new trade or business. For example, a doctor cannot deduct basic medical school costs because these are required to enter the field. Once he becomes a doctor, however, any courses he takes to keep current or learn new techniques are deductible. The expenses of becoming a specialist within a field may or may not be deductible. For example, if the goal all along was to become a psychiatrist and the individual went straight through medical school, internship, and then into a psychiatric residency, all of the costs would be treated as required to enter the ...
