The prompt I have chosen this week is How characters react to changes that are happening. Three
claims supporting this prompt are how Melba is scared, worried, and brave when reacting to her
surroundings. One way Melba reacts to her surroundings is how she is scared. Melba has gone
through practically terrorism while attending Central High School and has only eight friends,
whom she can barely stay in contact to, and a very small amount of military guards. It has been
stated multiple times throughout the book of how horrified she is at her school. From being
choked to being trapped in a flaming bathroom, she has been put in multiple near death... Show

The Secretary of State is an official of the Federal Government that heads up the U.S. Department
of State. The Secretary of State is appointed by the President, and is the highest ranking appointed
executive branch official. A Secretary of State s main concerns deal with foreign policy, and the
position is considered to be the United Statessuccessor to the Minister for Foreign Affairs job. The
Secretary of State as well as the Secretary of Defense, Secretary of the Treasury, and Attorney
General are thought of as the four most important cabinet members. As the highest ranking
member of the cabinet, the Secretary of State is the third highest official of the executive branch
of the Federal Government, after the President and Vice President. Six Secretaries of State have
gone on to be elected President. The Secretary of State, with the counsel of the Senate, is the
President s main foreign affairs representative. The Secretary of State carries out foreign policies
through the Foreign Service and the State Department of the United States. The duties of the
Secretary of State in relation to foreign policy hasn t changed that much since the late 1800s, but
they have become much more complex and complicated as international countries evolved and

The first acknowledged newspaper came into existence in 1665 and was called the Oxford
Gazette . During the development stages, newspapers were split into two separate camps.
Firstly there are the tabloids. The tabloids have a long and interesting history behind them. Lord
Northcliffe; then owner of the Daily Mirror, launched the Daily Mirror in November 1903 and
were aimed specifically for the female audience. In 1904 it was re launched at The Daily Illustrated
Mirror as a picture paper for men and women. It used mostly photos and climbed to a circulation of

The Mirror developed a close link to readers through ordinary working class journalist and
stories. In the 1950s Marjorie Proops became the first Agony Aunt column. Through the 50 s and
60 s the Mirror focused on great social and political issues. They invented the SHOCK issue,
intending to shock, explain, illicit debates and give solutions to social problems and particularly
the fear of blacks and immigrants during the Windrush years; there were a shortage of workers and
so they turned to colonies for extra workers. In 1981 the Sun and Mirror were losing readers to the
star due to its bingo competition. Larry Lamb; the editor of the Sun, was sacked by Rupert
Murdoch; chairman of the Sun newspapers owners news international group. He was replaced by
Kelvin Mackenzie who ran bingo competition and slashed the price to beat off the competition.
Following these measures the Sun s circulation rose by sum 500,000 over 3months time period and
the Daily Star never recovered to its previous level.
Throughout the 1980 s, Mackenzie attacked political targets such as labor councilors, unions and
