Rising Star Cave Research Paper
About two years ago, scientists spelunked their way through the Rising Star Cave in Johnanesburg,
South Africa, hoping to find fragments of the creatures who had lived there eras before. They found
more than they had ever imagined more than 1,550 bones in a one square yard area and soon realized
that the specimens seemed humanlike. They d discovered an ancient human ancestor.
On Thursday, a team of more than 60 scientists led by American paleoanthropologist Lee Berger
officially announced the new species. They christened it Homo naledi. Naledi means star, and was
chosen because of the location where the fossils were found.
Berger and his team were able to complete the excavation with funding from National Geographic,
which, in an article detailing the new species, claims This Face Changes the Human Story.
But, does a newly discovered species that remains undated really change everything we know about
human history? Boston.com asked Daniel Lieberman, chair of Harvard s Department of Human

How uncommon is this? Did any of the other species we talked about bury their dead?
This is not like anything else anyone s ever found, with exception of pit of bones found in Northern
Spain. It was a species called the Homo heidelbergensis, and it was another difficult to access pit.
They found more than 20 individuals of this early ancestral species. So, there is another example in
the fossil record of people doing this thing, but this is a different scale. No one s ever found anything
this large.
Can you tell me about the scale of the findings?
They ve excavated 1,500 bones so far, but a lot of individuals were dumped into this pit or this cave.
They ve really only scratched the surface. It presents this completely astonishing and unique
opportunity to look at a large population of non humans. I think many people are looking forward to

Case Analysis Of LAnd V Contractors, Llc V. Heritage...
Case Summary
In the case of L and V Contractors, LLC v. Heritage Warranty Insurance Risk Retention Group, Inc., et
al the vehicle owner and plaintiff, Alejandro Leone sued AAMCO and Drive Train for fraudulent and
negligent misrepresentation and statutory theft. Claims were also bought against Heritage Insurance.
The charges against the aforementioned defendants stem for the interactions the plaintiff had with
each party.
The following events lead to the case against the defendants. In 2002, Leone purchased a van with
extended warranty through Heritage Insurance. Leone wanted his van repaired when the transmission
failed, and brought it to Crowley Chevrolet. Heritage Insurance refused to pay Crowley Chevrolet
repair rates, so the vehicle was brought to Drive Train in East Hartford. Heritage Insurance authorized
Drive Train to examine the vehicle, but then refused to pay the shop.
The vehicle remained there for about month before Leone received a letter from Drive Train owner,
Gary Gross stated Leone failed to respond and his vehicle remained in the shop. A lien would be
placed on the vehicle, and it will be sold at an auction. Leone would also have to pay storage fees for
each day the vehicle remained at the shop. A few days later Leone went to Drive Train letting Gross
know that he was trying to work out the payment with Heritage Insurance.
On March 2008, Leone received another letter stating his vehicle was to be auctioned. It should be
noted that all the letters he

Health Care Reform For The United States
Many ways are used to measure how much Americans values life. Obviously, good health is a major
factor of being happy and satisfied with an Americans life. People also place family and friends very
high on the list of value for health care insurance. Health care has become the stress to every person s
life. Health care controls everything a person does due to the drawbacks of not having it when it is
necessary; like breaking an arm or coming down with a deathly illness. With these issues, it is said
that reforms are on their way. Health care reform will be on the agenda for future sessions of
Congress, because the economic pressures of rising health care costs on the federal government,
business, and individuals are not going to abate (King). Health care has become a pain for many
reasons. It takes up time, money, and security. Having health care in the United States is a necessity;
without this many hospitals do not admit a patient or, if done so, the patient becomes flooded with
bills for everything. But just because health care is a necessity in the United States does not mean it
comes easily. With so much that goes into health care, loads of information and research must be
gathered; to understand health care and why one must have information on health care history,
information about human rights in regards of health care, what other forms of health care are out there,
price of health care, Americans opinion on American health care, and many more items that health

How Did Geography Affect Ancient China
In ancient times, the geography of ancient river valleys affected the growth and success of a
civilization. Ancient Sumer and Ancient China were strongly changed by the geographic features they
had around them. Many river valleys during this time, including Ancient China and Ancient Sumer,
developed around rivers. These rivers gave the civilizations fertile soil, which lead to a surplus in
food, for farming foods and crops was the most common way to grow food for families. Rivers also
gave people water and other resources that were necessary for living during this time. Sumer
developed around two rivers, the Euphrates and Tigris Rivers. These rivers flowed parallel to each
other and the land in between the rivers was called Mesopotamia. This land had very fertile farm soil
and therefore many people in the civilization of Sumer settled in Mesopotamia. In China, the

Who Is Madame Defarge In A Tale Of Two Cities
In Book The Second, of Charles Dickens s, A Tale of Two Cities, tensions are running high in France
as the revolution intensifies, which manifests itself in the theme of transformation. Dickens utilizes
characterization by portraying that it is not just the country that is transforming as the revolution goes
on, but the people who are living through it and fighting for what they believe in. Madame Defarge is
by far the best representation as she steadily turns from a kind women who knit to a cold ruthless
killer and one of the main contributors to the revolution. This transformation can first be seen when it
is revealed that Madam Defarge has been knitting a kill list, She has knitted it herself in her own code,

It is when the news that old Foulon, a member of the aristocratic class of France, had faked his own
death in order to escape the revolutionaries that Madame Defarge can truly be seen as a merciless
killer he was hauled to the nearest street corner where one of the fatal lamps swung and there Madame
Defarge let him go as a cat might have done to a mouse [...] Once he went aloft, and the rope broke,
and they caught him shrieking; twice he went aloft, and the rope broke, and they caught him shrieking;
then, the rope was merciful and held him, and his head is soon upon a pike (Dickens 223). Madame
Defarge is deliberately teasing the old man who caused pain and suffering to the peasants, as a
predator would tease its prey before it went in for the kill. This is just one aspect of her torment as
Foulon then has to go through the process of being hung three times before it is finally successful. In
this scene, Madame Defarge has without a doubt transformed from the woman quietly knitting in the

Essay On The Temperance Movement
The Temperance Movement was a part of a social campaign in America during the 1840 s that focused
on educating the public on the dangers of excessive drinking. This movement used both legislation
and exhortation to prohibit the manufacture, use and sale of alcohol. In 1840 Baltimore, a temperance
organization called the Washingtonians was formed made up originally6 of six former hard drinking
artisans and laborers who agreed to support one another in their efforts to remain sober. The
Washingtonian movement quickly caught on and provided a place not only for reforming drunkards
but also for non drinking working class men and women within the reform community. There were a
number of reasons people sought out the movement. Some wanted to stop drinking, plain and simple.

Analysis of the Comedy Scrubs
The show Scrubs has 24 episodes and was first aired at 10pm on sky one every Thursday, although not
a prime spot in the week, it still had a high viewer rating. It is now playing on channel 4 at 10.35 again
on Thursdays. The time it is aired at, shows the adult humour of the programme and some scenes that
could be unsuitable for children. I am analysing the first show in the series. In my opinion it is the
most important as it determines if you are going to watch the rest of the series and should introduce
the main characters. The approximate running time is 20 minutes.

The main character is JD who has joined a hospital after finishing medical school. A narrative
technique used, is the spoken thought this is diegetic sound as it is the thoughts of the main character.
Scrubs has a varied genre, as with many other TV soap operas. It has comedy and drama, which blend
together effectively.
The narrative is quite traditional it starts with several problems that are eventually solved by the end of
the show: JD being anxious about his first day, his fear of doing anything to the patients (he gets the
nurses to do it), the problem of getting an apartment with Turk, and JD being worried about being on
call. These are eventually resolved and equilibrium is reached by the end of the program. The format
of each episode deals individually with the characters problems but does not have a final ending, but a
conclusion of the problems of that episode, so each episode starts fresh.
The first episode starts with the camera on JD which basically shows you that he is the main character.
The shot is an extreme close up, which shows you that the main character is a young good looking
male. The shot then has a reflective view from a camera of JD in the mirror acting stupid (wearing a

Jonbenet Ramsey Case Summary
JonBenet Ramsey was an interesting case, she was a child beauty queen that was murdered in her
house late at night in Colorado in 1996. Her father, John Ramsey, later found her body in the basement
along with a ridiculously long ransom note 8 hours after she was reported to be missing. Her autopsy
revealed that she was strangled and got hit in the head, which was estimated as her cause of death.
Back to the ransom note, it was sitting on the kitchen table in the Ramsey house and demanded a
whopping $118,000. The note was very detailed and the ransom itself demanded for $118,000, the
exact amount of money that John Ramsey received as a bonus that year, raising even more suspicions
about the Ramseys. Suspicions that the parents and brother ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Should Playing a Collegiate Level Sport Be Considered a Job
Should playing a collegiate level sport be considered a job? One of the loudest debates in the sports
world is whether or not college athletes should receive a share of the revenue they produce for the
universities. Men s basketball and football players generate millions of dollars a year through ticket
sales, television contracts, team merchandise, and much more. So why don t they get a share from the
profits? Does this mean that big time universities are exploiting their college athletes so that they can
cash in from their talents? College athletes in today s day in age are beginning to put in their opinion
of how they should receive a salary. Did they forget that they are still students at an institution? Most
of the big time college athletes, such as basketball and football players, are at the school with a full
athletic scholarship, which is already worth thousands of dollars. Everyday students pay to be a part of
the school, and athletes receive the benefits of going to school for free, and enjoy all the extra benefits
that come with the tough work as an athlete. These athletes receive first class treatment. They are
given private flights to away games, first class hotels, and many other luxuries. They do not pay for
tuition, transportation, food, or team facilities. On top of that, they should receive a salary? Not a
chance. The law professors find that college athletes meet all three because a coach has much control
over what they do; athletic scholarships amounts

The Depletion Of The Natural Resources
In the past recent years, the depletion of the natural resources has become the area of major attention
throughout the world. These resources include the fossil fuels, minerals, natural vegetation, animals,
air, water, sunlight, soil, etc. The rate of its consumption is increasing day by day. This ultimately
leads to the ceasing of the resources to the earth s crust. The rising demand of these resources has led
to a limited supply of these resources which has serious impacts to environmental damages like air
pollution, water pollution, soil pollution and the depletion of the ozone layer. Thus, there is an urgent
need for mainly the industries to find an alternative approach reducing its unwanted effect on the
environment.
Manufacturing plays a very important role in an organization particularly to build competitive benefit
and improve performance. Manufacturers have been neglecting their social environmental
responsibility and have focused too much on their profits. The minimization of waste and pollution
produced can be achieved by product and process designing. Green manufacturing is an emerging
field as a solution taken by the industries in the recent years.
Green manufacturing can broadly be defined as the technology used in a manufacturing process that
finds a smarter way to use the limited resources, both in manufacturing the material and in the energy
used in the process. This is achieved by reducing the waste and pollution by re defining the present

The spiritual experience is about the personality change that occurs in mind of an alcoholic. This

Property Creates Human Greed By Rousseau s State Of Nature
Property creates human greed. As soon as one man realized that it was useful for a single individual to
have provisions for two, equality disappeared, property came into existence, labor became necessary
demonstrates that men will subjugate and deprive others in order to act in self interest (74). Once the
strong came to understand the pleasure of accumulating more than is necessary for survival, they
thought of nothing but the subjugation and enslavement of their neighbors, like those ravenous wolves
that on having once tasted human flesh, reject all other food and desire to devour only men (78). This
inequality is illegitimate in divine abode of Rousseau s state of nature, but property develops
constructed legitimacy since ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because force is always illegitimate, property maintained through force is always illegitimate as well.
The illegitimacy of force is demonstrated by Rousseau s stinging condemnation of the sultan who
rules through force. The sultan s rule is illegitimate, but those who overthrow the sultan with force are
equally illegitimate. Rousseau explains that the uprising that ends in the strangulation or the
dethronement of the sultan is as lawful an act as those by which he disposed of the lives and goods of
his subjects the day before. Force alone maintained him, force alone brings him down (90). Property
can only be seized through force, which is always illegitimate, regardless of the current proprietor s
illegitimate claim to the land. In both Marx s depiction of society and Rousseau s, humans have
developed through a succession of stages to act in self interest, oppressing other humans for the sake
of material gain. They agree that property is a human construction created by the strong to solidify
social status and sustained through illegitimate legal and economic systems. For both philosophers,
illegitimate property leads to labor becoming deeply dehumanizing. The craving to own illegitimate
property comes from human greed, appetites, and socialization. On the surface, Marx and Engel s
theory is compatible with Rousseau s. The philosophies, however, have many significant differences.

Notorious Jumping Frog
1. The educational aspect portrayed in this text The Notorious Jumping Frog , was made very clear.
Mark Twain brilliantly allowed the readers to see a difference between Easterners and Westerners
through educated and uneducated diction. The narrator s tone and choice of words used at the
beginning of the text, revealed to me that he has academia background. The narrator stated, I called on
good natured, garrulous old Simon Wheeler... (Twain 121). When using the word garrulous, when in
terms simply means chatty, right away this led me to think the narrator s vocabulary was extensive.

He used westernized slang words such as feller and thish er when telling the story of Jimmy Smiley to

background where survival by any means possible was the motto for life. Any means possible,
meaning doing bizarre things that to another would seem classless. Mark Twain depicted Smiley as a
man simply trying to make best out of life. It was perceived that formal education was not prevalent in
his surroundings and street hustling was the way of life, perhaps passed on from previous generations.

in 1852, and in 1854 said that his first instinct would be to free all the slaves, and send them to
Liberia. In hopes of getting their support on a plan for colonization in Central America, Lincoln hosted
a delegation for freed slaves at the White House. Given the differences between the two races and the
hostile attitudes of whites toward blacks. He argued that it would be better for us both, therefore, to be
separated. Lincoln s support of colonization provoked great anger among black leaders and
abolitionists, who argued that African Americans were as much natives of the country as whites, and
thus deserved the same

Disparity Between Males And Women In The Education System
Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) job industries are clearly a
minority group as opposed to males. And each of these statistics above has been used to analyze and
raise awareness about the discrepancy between genders within STEM occupations. However, there
seems to be lesser research on the education system that feeds into these work opportunities. It is vital
to note that the disadvantage for women in STEM starts well before they enter the workforce; it starts
when females are young, and still within the educational system. Additionally, the disparity between
males and females in STEM extends much further than the educational system, into popular culture.
Young girls and women, growing up in a society that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because there is less opportunity to switch between STEM industries, and because individuals cannot
enter the STEM industries without a strong, targeted scientific background, it is key to focus on
developing an effective educational system to feed women into the STEM workforce.
Granted, it must be noted that there is a high rate of women dropping out of scientific industries after
having graduated, or having worked in the field. Research has shown that 38% of women who earn
engineering degrees leave, or never enter that workforce (American Psychological Association, 2014).
However, it is vital to keep in mind that this statistic is 38% of the few women who graduate with an
engineering degree in the first place.
Not only are there few women earning STEM degrees, but there are also few female and university
science teachers. A study reported that in high schools across the country, about 44% of science
teachers were females (Bottia et al. 2015). Although this number seems to be very close to 50%, the
study explains that this small gender discrepancies among science teachers have a profound impact on
the number of students who decide to pursue a STEM degree. And that high schools which have more
female STEM teachers, largely raise the chances of producing women who will

What were the underlying causes of World War I Research paper
World War I, also known as the first World War, or the Great War, was a global war originating in
Europe the began on the 28th of July 1914 and lasted until the 11th of November 1918. World War I
was a war that was fought between two sides with a few of the World s greatest Nations of that time.
The two sides were Triple Entente which included Britain, France, and Russia, and the Triple Alliance
which was consisted of the countries Germany, Austria Hungary, and Italy. World War I left a mark on
history as we know it, what could have possibly led to that war?, What were the underlying causes of
World War I?. The major causes of The Great War or WWI consist of four long term causes and one
short term cause. The common acronym that s used for the four long term causes to help students
remember the causes of WWI is M.A.I.N; the acronym stands for Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism,
and Nationalism, and the short term cause The Assassination of the ArchDuke Franz Ferdinand at
Sarajevo on the 28th of June 1914. To put all of this in a simpler way the five major causes of WWI
was Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism, Nationalism, and the assassination of the ArchDuke Franz
Ferdinand. Each of topics played a significant role in the reasons why WWI would begin.

Sex Relationships And Relationships Between Children And...
While it is possible for men and women to be victims of intimate partner abuse, the vast majority of
the available research focuses on women as the victims and men as the aggressors. The challenge is
that in identifying the many variables and results of abusive relationships, the data can be skewed to
favor one gender over another, and there needs to be more study into same sex relationships and
partner abuse and heterosexual relationships where the female is the aggressor and the male is the
victim. With that said, there is much that is currently being done for those who are in abusive
relationships, with perhaps the most important task being preventing relationship violence (Hays et al.,
2015). Introducing programs across the country that are specifically for students can help reduce the
incidence of domestic violence and identify those who are at risk for entering into an abusive
relationship (Hays et al., 2015).
Current trends in domestic violence Currently group therapy and getting the victim into a safe house
are the most used tools to help the victims of abusive relationships but this one size fits all model is
not universally successful in prevention and treatment (Lothstein, 2015; Nicholas, 2013). Group
sessions have been shown to be extremely effective in increasing knowledge and awareness of all
types of relationship violence while increasing the opportunity to have conversations on such topics in
many settings (Hays et al., 2015). For as effective as therapy

From The Outset Of The Twenty-First Century, Capitalism
From the outset of the twenty first century, capitalism appeared to be the most dominant economic
force the world had ever seen. With a free market reaching across the globe and countless nations
embracing its economic success, capitalism s influence and prestige had never been greater. However,
recent economic struggles on a global scale may have inclined a change of heart among capitalism s
heirs; a Harvard Institute of Politics poll found that only 19% of Americans, ages 18 29, identified
themselves as capitalist (Foroohar 26). When combining the poll s results with the possibility of
polarizing labor changes in the future, capitalism appears to be at risk of losing its place on the throne.
Despite the doubts surrounding the economic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although capitalism stands for relief and freedom, the economic system tends to express a few side
effects. For instance, twenty first century capitalism has had the tendency to widen the gap between
the poor and the rich. Pope Francis current head of the Catholic Church has expressed his discontent
for capitalism s imbalances and lack of real concern for human beings in several addresses to the
public (Huddleston). The Pope s disgust with capitalism lies in the growing inequality being creating
between the poor and the rich. Pope Francis sees capitalism s inequality as inexcusable; thus, he
advocates for an economic system which takes greater social considerations. Regrettably, the
inequality which can be created by capitalism plays into the hand of another adverse side effect.
Stewart Lansley economist and financial journalist describes in a Political Quarterly article inequality
s relationship with capitalism s economic cycles; more equal societies have softer business cycles
[while] more unequal economies are associated with more extreme cycles (Lansley 754). Business
cycles both good and bad are an integral part of capitalism. The size of booms and busts depends on
wealth equality. Fortunately, the negative aspects of capitalism are manageable, and healthy capitalism
can still hold its dominance over current economics.
Even when considering capitalism s flaws, its continued dominance in the twenty first century is

Persuasive Essay On Anti Smoking
Did you know that 20% of adult s smoke cigarettes in the United States and every year more than
480,000 people die from tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke, making it the leading cause
of preventable death in this country? (CDC, 2017) How many of those people do you think have
children? Second hand smoke is just as dangerous as lighting up according to the Center for Disease
Control and Prevention. It causes numerous health problems in infants and children, including more
frequent and severe asthma attacks, respiratory infections, ear infections, and sudden infant death
syndrome. (CDC, 2017) Anti smoking advertisements began in 1998 as part of a 206 billion dollar
settlement. Major tobacco companies, including Philip Morris USA, R. J. Reynolds, Brown
Williamson, and Lorillard, were to pay for anti smoking ads due to a lawsuit from 46 states. The states
filed a lawsuit against the major tobacco companies for Medicaid and costs incurred while treating the
sick and dying cigarette smokers. (Public Health Law Center, 2015) In 2012, the federal government
took on an effort to attack the nation s tobacco addiction with a series of advertisements highlighting
the grisly toll of smoking. (Harris, 2017) You have probably noticed one of these ads. In one TV ad, a
woman who has a hole in her neck and barely any hair on her head after suffering head and neck
cancer. (Harris, 2017)
Even today, there are many powerful advertisements focused towards a shrinking market of smokers.
They often depict the harmful effects of tobacco through graphic pictures or other startling images.
The advertisement I chose depicts a black background with a clear baby bottle full of cigarette butts.
There is smoke coming from the nipple of the baby bottle with the words, How many cigarettes a day
does your child smoke? in all white bold letters. Under the baby bottle are the words, Prevent passive
smoking in a smaller font. Through this, the image is able to convey a sense of danger and promote
awareness of the hazards of smoking around children.
In advertising, the importance of tone is used to impact a specific group of people. Setting the right
tone can convey your message to the intended audience. In the advertisement I

Tommy Davis And The Baseball
For a two year span in the early 1960s, Tommy Davis was probably the best hitter in baseball. His
1962 season was one in which Tommy Davis set Dodger records that still stand. Tommy Davis had
153 runs batted in that magical campaign, the most in the National League in 25 years. It would be 34
more years before anyone in baseball would duplicate reaching the 150 RBI plateau attained by
Tommy Davis in 1962. But despite his great success at an early age, Tommy Davis wound up playing
with ten teams in eighteen years. Tommy Davis was a high school teammate of a future Basketball
Hall of Famer, Lenny Wilkins, and the six foot two Davis could have had a career in that sport. A
standout in baseball in high school, Tommy Davis was convinced by none other than Jackie Robinson
to sign with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1956. Tommy Davis was born and lived in Brooklyn, but before
he ever made the big club the Dodgers had moved west to Los Angeles. Tommy Davis won the batting
titles of the Midwest and Pacific Coast Leagues on his way up the minor league ladder. He debuted
with the Dodgers in 1959 in a one game stint as a pinch hitter. The next season, his rookie year,
Tommy Davis hit .276 in 110 games; two years later he would enjoy that monster 1962 season. In
1962, Tommy Davis compiled 230 hits, still the Dodger mark for a right handed batter. He won the
first of two consecutive batting titles with his .346 average; Tommy Davis would win it again by
batting .326 in 1963. Only Mike Piazza

Investigate the Effect of Varying Solution Concentration on Osmosis in a Potato Chip
Prediction
A definition of osmosis is: the movement of water molecules from an area of high water concentration
to a low water concentration across a semi permeable membrane (Oxforddictionary 2000).
In a high concentration of water the amount of solute (e.g. sugar) is low. These solutions are usually
known as a dilute or weak solution.
But in a low concentration of water the amount of solute (e.g. sugar) is high. These solutions are
usually known as concentrated or strong solutions. When a weak solution and a strong solution are

Using this information, I have come to the prediction that with a high concentration of sucrose in the
water, the mass of the potato will decrease and the cells will become plasmolysed. In a low
concentration of sucrose the cells will become turgid.
Preliminary work
I have based my prediction on a prelimary experiment we did amongst our class, this experiment
involved us placing potato chips into various concentrations of sucrose solution and observing the
potato s change in mass according to the solution they were placed in.
Carrying out a preliminary experiment helped me to decide how long to leave the potato chips in the
sucrose solution. In the preliminary I left them for 24hrs however I found this an insufficient time and
this helped me to decide on leaving the potato chips for 2hrs in the final experiment. Preliminary

Relationships In Dante s Inferno And Gunther
Throughout this semester all of the assigned texts have relationships between characters. There was
female female, male female, and male male relationships. Each of these categories drive the plot with
the use of relationships and bonds typically found between the characters. Today let us focus on male
male groupings and how their relationships were written and interpreted. Since there are many
different pairs to choose from I will be focusing on Dante and Virgil,Siegfried and Gunther, as well as
Roland and Charlemagne. Each of these relationships have similarities and differences that highlight
and expand upon the character s traits. To start off with in The Divine Comedy, Dante and Virgil s
relationship can be interpreted as Guide and pupil, pseudo familial, or even of a tyrant. The
relationship demonstrated from the first page describes

The History Of The Ishango Bone
In the 1900s during evacuations of Border Cave in the Lebombo Mountains, the Lebombo bone was
discovered it s actually a bone from a Baboon, it had 29 markings on it. It s dated to be the oldest
mathematical objects that still exists. Used to measure menstrual cycles and even the lunar cycle. The
bone has been dated back to 35,000 BC and represents the calendar.
Ishango bone is used as a tool, its dated way back in the Upper Paleolithic Era. Also a baboon bone
and it has a quartz at the end of it for show or carvings. At first people thought it was used for a tally

The Problem With The Education System
Learn means to gain knowledge or skill (of something) by study, experience, or teaching. Throughout
their years of school, understudies feel they have ingested a lot of data. But when asked to examine
what they learned, they are unable to. Sometimes they recite something like, In Fourteen Hundred
Ninety Two, Columbus sailed the ocean blue. The students are not given an explanation of what that
means. Paulo Friere believes that the problem with the education system is that teachers merely tell
students to memorize the material, and all the students do is spit the information right back out. They
don t understand why it s important, so they aren t gaining any true knowledge. While I will agree
Friere s banking system does exist, an analysis of my own experiences demonstrates the system isn t
broken like he claims because most teachers want their students to be successful throughout life, not
just in the classroom.
Many people believe that the current education system needs to be abolished and completely redone.
Paulo Friere is no different from this thought. In his article, The Banking System of Education, Friere
argues that the students are the depositories and the teacher is the depositor (Friere). In other words,
the teacher is simply depositing information into the students who will later withdraw it back out with
no context of why it matters. Under the current education system, students aren t actually learning
anything. They are simply being told to

The objective is to determine the most cost effective method to decrease the project s deadline. The
project plan discussed below has been generated through the use of a projectplanning scheduling
technique, Critical Path Methodology, to secure the scientific approach. The program schedule
provides a quantitative basis to make managerial decisions to shorten the implementation time of the
overall project.
2. Assumptions and Approximations
The mathematical model created to schedule all the projects is based upon a number of simplifying
assumptions and approximations. These need to be taken into account in order to make an independent
judgment about the model s usefulness.
The assumptions and approximations of this model are:

The product introduction program has been broken down into three groups of activities: Research
Development, Marketing Advertising, and Promotion;

The description of each activity and the indicated time required for its completion in weeks was taken
at face value from the case;

The tasks to be performed by each department and the estimated durations and deadlines were also


The preceding activities for each activity are considered as such;

How Darwin Has A Profound Effect Beyond The World Of Science
Darwin once said we all come from monkeys, but not literally. This quote was said by Hal in the
Malcolm in the Middle episode, Flashback. This is one of many examples of how Darwin has had a
profound effect beyond the world of science. Through analysis of several elements of pop culture, one
can see how their underlying themes are related to Darwin. The impact of Darwin s principles can be
seen in video games, literature, and television.
The relevance of Darwin s work can be observed in video games. For example, Darwin s theory of
natural selection can be applied to the general gameplay of Pokémon FireRed. Darwin states that
individuals with variations best suited for the habitat survive and reproduce. The protagonist in the

This type of move inheritance is similar to real life traits can be passed down. In a different example,
the Sonic franchise can be analyzed from the developer s point of view. The first Sonic the Hedgehog
game was created in 1991. It was well received because of its groundbreaking colors, as well as the
high speed nature of the game. The Sega company realized that Sonic appealed to a wide audience, so
naturally, future games are going to feature similar characteristics of the original Sonic game. This
concept is comparable to Darwin s idea that a species must survive to pass their traits to the next
generation (Darwin, Foundations 1). Sega essentially implements elements of the old Sonic games,
while at the same time adding new elements to improve the sequels. The theories of natural selection
and heredity provide for a scientific viewpoint of the Pokémon and Sonic franchises beyond the
entertainment.
Many literary works portray Darwinan principles. In Jeanne Duprau s The City of Ember, for instance,
a group of scientists known as The Builders create an underground city called Ember, which has a
generator and supplies for the citizens to survive at least 200 years. This city was intended to protect
its inhabitants from impending doom. About 240 years after the creation of this city, the supplies
become scarce, and the generator is decaying. It is up to the central characters, Lina and Doon to

Hagar Leaving Abraham s House In Genesis
Hagar and Ishmael s story in Genesis is often understood in the light of Isaac being the rightful heir to
Abraham s inheritance and legacy through the abandonment and expulsion of Hagar and Ishmael. At
first glance, the story portrays Hagar as an outsider, an Egyptian servant, who is beneath Sarah, the
mistress; thus, this difference in position justifies Hagar and Ishmael s abandonment from Abraham s
house. A closer look at the story evokes the reader s sympathy for Hagar and Ishmael s unfair
treatment since Ishmael is the firstborn son. This subtle detail drawn between the lines suggests that
there an underlying message in this narrative. In this paper, I will discuss how the two accounts of
Hagar leaving Abraham s house in Genesis 16 and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first account, the text states that Sarah s inability to bear Abraham a child led her to take matters
into her own hands by giving her Egyptian maidservant, Hagar, to Abraham as a concubine so that he
can bear him a child through Hagar. After Hagar and Abraham cohabited, she became pregnant, which
caused Sarah to be disturbed by her status in Hagar s eyes. Sarah complained to Abraham and he told
her to deal with it as she thinks fit as Hagar is her maidservant. This caused Sarah to treat Hagar
harshly and resulted in Hagar fleeing from her master s house to run from Sarah. An angel of YHWH
found her near a spring on the road to Shur and told her to return to her master s house and submit to
the harsh treatment, while also instilling (?) some blessings to her. This narrative ended with the birth
of Ishmael when Abraham was eighty six years old. The second text in Genesis 21 begins with the
fulfillment of God s promise to Sarah with the birth of Isaac when Abraham was a hundred years old.
Sarah was delighted with Isaac s birth and was laughing at the people who mocked her for her
inability to bear Abraham a son. During Isaac s feast, she saw Ishmael playing with Isaac, which
saddened her and she demanded that Hagar and Ishmael be cast out as she did not want Ishmael, the
son of a slave, to share the same inheritance as Isaac. Abraham was greatly distressed by Sarah s
request, but God told him to not worry and follow Sarah s demand for it is through Isaac that offspring
shall be continued for you (Gen. 21:12) and He will bless Ishmael by [making] a nation of him
(21:13). The next morning, with God s instructions, Abraham sent Hagar and Ishmael away and gave
them some bread and water. When Hagar ran out of water in the wilderness of Beersheba, an angel of
God appeared once again to

Visual Representation Is Our Cultural Dictator
Visual representation is our cultural dictator, the general sense of the word is the description or
portrayal of someone or something in a particular way (Oxford Dictionaries., 2014). In terms of
design it s the depiction of someone or something in a work of art (Oxford Dictionaries., 2014).
Representation is constructed of social values; it influences status, class and politics. The circuit of
culture (Hall, S., 1997, p.1) is the system in which society operates; it includes identity, production,
consumption, regulation and representation. To understand this circuit, we must understand the
substances of culture,
It s said to embody the best that has been thought and said in a society. It is the sum of great ideas, as
represented in the classic works of literature, painting, music and philosophy the high culture of an
age. (Hall, S., 1997 p.2) Fuelling 21st century culture is the economics and marketing of the first
world. The desire to consume is the notion of creating a persona through visual identity.
Representation in the physical sense is presenting oneself , (Williams, R. 1978, p.266) it s realised that
consumption is complicated because it s dictated by individual taste. Humanity resembles chameleons,
in the present day we are exposed and adaptable to fast fashion. Mass produced high street clothing
imitates couture fashion. At factional prices, cheaper quality alternatives are obtainable to the working

  • 2. Rising Star Cave Research Paper About two years ago, scientists spelunked their way through the Rising Star Cave in Johnanesburg, South Africa, hoping to find fragments of the creatures who had lived there eras before. They found more than they had ever imagined more than 1,550 bones in a one square yard area and soon realized that the specimens seemed humanlike. They d discovered an ancient human ancestor. On Thursday, a team of more than 60 scientists led by American paleoanthropologist Lee Berger officially announced the new species. They christened it Homo naledi. Naledi means star, and was chosen because of the location where the fossils were found. Berger and his team were able to complete the excavation with funding from National Geographic, which, in an article detailing the new species, claims This Face Changes the Human Story. But, does a newly discovered species that remains undated really change everything we know about human history? So, there is another example in the fossil record of people doing this thing, but this is a different scale. No one s ever found anything this large. Can you tell me about the scale of the findings? They ve excavated 1,500 bones so far, but a lot of individuals were dumped into this pit or this cave. They ve really only scratched the surface. It presents this completely astonishing and unique opportunity to look at a large population of non humans. I think many people are looking forward to finding out more about ... Heritage Warranty Insurance Risk Retention Group, Inc., et al the vehicle owner and plaintiff, Alejandro Leone sued AAMCO and Drive Train for fraudulent and negligent misrepresentation and statutory theft. Claims were also bought against Heritage Insurance. The charges against the aforementioned defendants stem for the interactions the plaintiff had with each party. The following events lead to the case against the defendants. In 2002, Leone purchased a van with extended warranty through Heritage Insurance. Leone wanted his van repaired when the transmission failed, and brought it to Crowley Chevrolet. Heritage Insurance refused to pay Crowley Chevrolet repair rates, so the vehicle was brought to Drive Train in East Hartford. Heritage Insurance authorized Drive Train to examine the vehicle, but then refused to pay the shop. The vehicle remained there for about month before Leone received a letter from Drive Train owner, Gary Gross stated Leone failed to respond and his vehicle remained in the shop. A lien would be placed on the vehicle, and it will be sold at an auction. Leone would also have to pay storage fees for each day the vehicle remained at the shop. A few days later Leone went to Drive Train letting Gross know that he was trying to work out the payment with Heritage Insurance. On March 2008, Leone received another letter stating his vehicle was to be auctioned. It should be noted that all the letters he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Health care has become the stress to every person s life. Health care reform will be on the agenda for future sessions of Congress, because the economic pressures of rising health care costs on the federal government, business, and individuals are not going to abate (King). Health care has become a pain for many reasons. It takes up time, money, and security. Having health care in the United States is a necessity; without this many hospitals do not admit a patient or, if done so, the patient becomes flooded with bills for everything. This movement used both legislation and exhortation to prohibit the manufacture, use and sale of alcohol. In 1840 Baltimore, a temperance organization called the Washingtonians was formed made up originally6 of six former hard drinking artisans and laborers who agreed to support one another in their efforts to remain sober. The Washingtonian movement quickly caught on and provided a place not only for reforming drunkards but also for non drinking working class men and women within the reform community. It is now playing on channel 4 at 10.35 again on Thursdays. The time it is aired at, shows the adult humour of the programme and some scenes that could be unsuitable for children. I am analysing the first show in the series. In my opinion it is the most important as it determines if you are going to watch the rest of the series and should introduce the main characters. A narrative technique used, is the spoken thought this is diegetic sound as it is the thoughts of the main character. Scrubs has a varied genre, as with many other TV soap operas. It has comedy and drama, which blend together effectively. The narrative is quite traditional it starts with several problems that are eventually solved by the end of the show: JD being anxious about his first day, his fear of doing anything to the patients (he gets the nurses to do it), the problem of getting an apartment with Turk, and JD being worried about being on call. These are eventually resolved and equilibrium is reached by the end of the program. The format of each episode deals individually with the characters problems but does not have a final ending, but a conclusion of the problems of that episode, so each episode starts fresh. The first episode starts with the camera on JD which basically shows you that he is the main character. Her father, John Ramsey, later found her body in the basement along with a ridiculously long ransom note 8 hours after she was reported to be missing. Her autopsy revealed that she was strangled and got hit in the head, which was estimated as her cause of death. • 12. Should Playing a Collegiate Level Sport Be Considered a Job Should playing a collegiate level sport be considered a job? One of the loudest debates in the sports world is whether or not college athletes should receive a share of the revenue they produce for the universities. Men s basketball and football players generate millions of dollars a year through ticket sales, television contracts, team merchandise, and much more. So why don t they get a share from the profits? Does this mean that big time universities are exploiting their college athletes so that they can cash in from their talents? College athletes in today s day in age are beginning to put in their opinion of how they should receive a salary. Did they forget that they are still students at an institution? Most of the big time college athletes, such as basketball and football players, are at the school with a full athletic scholarship, which is already worth thousands of dollars. Everyday students pay to be a part of the school, and athletes receive the benefits of going to school for free, and enjoy all the extra benefits that come with the tough work as an athlete. These athletes receive first class treatment. They are given private flights to away games, first class hotels, and many other luxuries. These resources include the fossil fuels, minerals, natural vegetation, animals, air, water, sunlight, soil, etc. The rate of its consumption is increasing day by day. This ultimately leads to the ceasing of the resources to the earth s crust. The rising demand of these resources has led to a limited supply of these resources which has serious impacts to environmental damages like air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution and the depletion of the ozone layer. Thus, there is an urgent need for mainly the industries to find an alternative approach reducing its unwanted effect on the environment. Manufacturing plays a very important role in an organization particularly to build competitive benefit and improve performance. Manufacturers have been neglecting their social environmental responsibility and have focused too much on their profits. The minimization of waste and pollution produced can be achieved by product and process designing. Green manufacturing is an emerging field as a solution taken by the industries in the recent years. As soon as one man realized that it was useful for a single individual to have provisions for two, equality disappeared, property came into existence, labor became necessary demonstrates that men will subjugate and deprive others in order to act in self interest (74). Once the strong came to understand the pleasure of accumulating more than is necessary for survival, they thought of nothing but the subjugation and enslavement of their neighbors, like those ravenous wolves that on having once tasted human flesh, reject all other food and desire to devour only men (78). This inequality is illegitimate in divine abode of Rousseau s state of nature, but property develops constructed legitimacy since ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because force is always illegitimate, property maintained through force is always illegitimate as well. The illegitimacy of force is demonstrated by Rousseau s stinging condemnation of the sultan who rules through force. The sultan s rule is illegitimate, but those who overthrow the sultan with force are equally illegitimate. Rousseau explains that the uprising that ends in the strangulation or the dethronement of the sultan is as lawful an act as those by which he disposed of the lives and goods of his subjects the day before. Force alone maintained him, force alone brings him down (90). Property can only be seized through force, which is always illegitimate, regardless of the current proprietor s illegitimate claim to the land. In both Marx s depiction of society and Rousseau s, humans have developed through a succession of stages to act in self interest, oppressing other humans for the sake of material gain. They agree that property is a human construction created by the strong to solidify social status and sustained through illegitimate legal and economic systems. For both philosophers, illegitimate property leads to labor becoming deeply dehumanizing. The craving to own illegitimate property comes from human greed, appetites, and socialization. On the surface, Marx and Engel s theory is compatible with Rousseau s. The philosophies, however, have many significant differences. Rousseau ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While it is possible for men and women to be victims of intimate partner abuse, the vast majority of the available research focuses on women as the victims and men as the aggressors. The challenge is that in identifying the many variables and results of abusive relationships, the data can be skewed to favor one gender over another, and there needs to be more study into same sex relationships and partner abuse and heterosexual relationships where the female is the aggressor and the male is the victim. With that said, there is much that is currently being done for those who are in abusive relationships, with perhaps the most important task being preventing relationship violence (Hays et al., 2015). Introducing programs across the country that are specifically for students can help reduce the incidence of domestic violence and identify those who are at risk for entering into an abusive relationship (Hays et al., 2015). Current trends in domestic violence Currently group therapy and getting the victim into a safe house are the most used tools to help the victims of abusive relationships but this one size fits all model is not universally successful in prevention and treatment (Lothstein, 2015; Nicholas, 2013). For instance, twenty first century capitalism has had the tendency to widen the gap between the poor and the rich. Pope Francis current head of the Catholic Church has expressed his discontent for capitalism s imbalances and lack of real concern for human beings in several addresses to the public (Huddleston). The Pope s disgust with capitalism lies in the growing inequality being creating between the poor and the rich. Pope Francis sees capitalism s inequality as inexcusable; thus, he advocates for an economic system which takes greater social considerations. Regrettably, the inequality which can be created by capitalism plays into the hand of another adverse side effect.
