Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

20. What is Linux?
Linux is a free Unix-type operating
system originally created by Linus
Torvalds developed under the GNU
General Public License and the source
code of which is freely available to
every one.
21. History
• GNU Project started in 1984 to create
“free” UNIX clone.
• LINUX kernel created by Finnish
college student, Linus Torvalds in
1991.

23. SUSE
SUSE is a German-based, multinational, open-
source software company that develops and
sells Linux products to business customers. Founded in 1992,
it was the first company to market Linux for the enterprise. It
is also the primary sponsor of the community-
supported open SUSE Project which develops the open
SUSE Linux distribution. The company is a wholly owned
subsidiary of The Attachmate Group.
24. Fedora
Fedora (formerly Fedora Core) is an operating system based on the Linux kernel,
developed by the community-supported Fedora Project and owned by Red Hat.
Fedora contains software distributed under a free and open source license and
aims to be on the leading edge of such technologies.
25. Red Hat
Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) is a Linux distribution developed by Red Hat and
targeted toward the commercial market. Red Hat Enterprise Linux is released in
server versions for x86, x86-64, Itanium, PowerPC and IBM System z, and
desktop versions for x86 and x86-64. All of Red Hat's official support and training
and the Red Hat Certification Program centers around the Red Hat Enterprise
Linux platform. Red Hat Enterprise Linux is often abbreviated to RHEL, although
this is not an official designation.
26. Debian
Debian is an operating system which is primarily comprised
of free software, most of which is under the GNU General
Public License, and developed by a group of volunteers
which relies on the Internet to collaborate. This collective
group of individuals is known as the Debian project. Debian is
one of the most popular Linux distributions for personal
computers and network servers, and has been used as a base
for several other Linux distributions.
27. Ubuntu
Ubuntu is a Debian -based Linux operating system,
with Unity as its default desktop environment (GNOME was
the previous desktop environment). It is based on free
software and named after the Southern African philosophy
of ubuntu (literally, "human-ness"), which often is translated
as "humanity towards others" or "the belief in a universal
bond of sharing that connects all humanity“.
28. Knoppix, or KNOPPIX is an operating system based
on Debian designed to be run directly from a CD /DVD (Live
CD) or a USB flash drive (Live USB), one of the first of its kind
for any operating system. Knoppix was developed by Linux
consultant Klaus Knopper. When starting a program, it is
loaded from the removable medium and decompressed into
aRAM drive. The decompression is transparent and on-the-
fly.
29. Slackware is a Linux distribution created by Patrick Volkerding in
1993.
Slackware aims for design stability and simplicity and to be the
most "Unix-like" Linux distribution. It makes as few modifications
as possible to software packages from upstream and tries not to
anticipate use cases or preclude user decisions. In contrast to
most modern Linux distributions, Slackware provides no
graphical installation procedure and no automatic dependency
resolution of software packages.
31. Windows 7 by default has very minimal
software set.
The basic features – word processor, spread sheet
and a presentation software are not present.
Need to purchase and install the MS Office suite
separately.
Bundled software
32. Linux comes with the Libre Office suite (a
Microsoft Office Equivalent) preinstalled.
It also has F-spot, an image editing
program that and an Instant messaging
client called Empathy – that has chat
provisioning for Facebook, G-Talk,
Yahoo,MSN and VOIP capabilities all under
a single application

34. LINUX- Biggest advantages of is its
built-in driver set.
The ability of automatically
downloading and installing them. This
includes the drivers for your webcam,
Wi-Fi, Ethernet Card, even your
printer or scanner

Windows has made great
improvements in reliability over the
last few versions of windows it still
can’t match the reliability of Linux.
RELIABILITY
40. LINUX
Although hardware manufacturers have
made great advancements in supporting
Linux it still will not support most hardware
devices.
For the hardware devices that have driver
support, they will usually work in all versions
of Linux.

41. WINDOWS
Because of the amount of Microsoft
Windows users and the broader driver
support, Windows has a much larger
support for hardware devices and
almost all hardware manufacturers will
support their products in Microsoft
Windows.
