Role Of The Workers Class For The Establishment Of Democracy
Fifty years after the military coup in Brazil in 1964, the country has been governed by an exiled
professor, Fernando Henrique Cardoso, a former labor worker that was arrested during the
dictatorship, Lula, and a former member of a guerrilla against the dictatorship, Dilma. The
transition from dictatorship to democracy was successful, but not sufficient to establish a strong
and fair government system.
Political, Economic and Social Scenery: The role of labor unions, student organizations, armed

On that same year, in the context of massive layoffs, bankruptcy and wage arrears, workers of an
industry in the state of Minas Gerais started a strike; this first strike had the support of a total of

Understanding The Lusitania Analysis
Understanding the Lusitania A magnificent beast sank into the deep waters but how? Elsie was
excited to explore the first class part of the ship, even though she was a third class passenger.
First class had luxury that she had never seen before. A german U boat was coming closer and
closer to the beautiful ship. U boats were hot, claustrophobic and full of sweat, fumes, and
human waste. The U boat had to sink at least two ships that day, and the lusitania was one of
them. The U boat created a torpedo that struck the lusitania. The large ship couldn t take it and
sank. Panic rose upon the ship. People fell of the ship and had to swim in Fifty degrees water.

The Rise and fall of Nokia
CASE SYNOPSIS:
Evolution Stages of Nokia Corporation:

Initially Nokia was not an electronic manufacture company. In 1865 Nokia started as Timber

How I Approach Program Development
HOW WOULD I APPROACH PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT
Upon reading and reflecting the insight and knowledge gained from this case study my three values
for a program development and strategic analysis would be: a personal connection with the local
population, minimizing hierarchy, and enforcing accountability and transparency in the
organization. In terms of who I would work with, I favour the idea of working in a smaller
organization. I would accept funds from multilateral organizations, not the government, and I would
be working at the local level. Working in a smaller organization at the local level allows for
greater accountability and a lesser chance of conflicting motives. As previously mentioned, smaller
organizations may lead to exclusion. To prevent this I would be willing to work with like minded
small organizations to divide the population. My main interest would be cultivating a relationship
with the population. The personal connection with the population is probably the hardest task
because we are not all as willing as Roy to immerse ourselves in the community. This relationship
also relies on the population because they need to be willing to share and collaborate. This
connection is the most important because it allows for the strongest trust and the greatest
understanding of the needs in the area that we are working. It also allows us to ensure that our
endeavours for the project align with our program. Having an extensive understanding the needs

Effects of War Presented in Journey s End Compared with...
Explore the ways in which the effects of war on the individual are presented in Journey s End .
Then compare the ways in which Sherriff presents the effects of war on the individual with the
ways in which Hill shows the impact of war on characters in Strange Meeting .
The character most obviously affected by the war in Journey s End is Stanhope. We learn early on
in the play that Stanhope drinks very heavily when Osborne and Hardy have a conversation about
him. I never did see a youngster put away the whisky he does. This is the first we see of the effects
that the war has had on an individual and although there are other characters that are also affected,
Stanhope appears to be the most prominent. It becomes apparent that ... Show more content on

The effects of war on Stanhope are presented both subtly and obviously. His drinking habits are
continually referred to throughout and although we learn early on that it is something that the war
has forced him into, his hatred for the war or his weak moments aren t made clear to the reader
until now when he admits his loathing to Hibbert.
Hill s character, Colonel Garrett in Strange Meeting is similar to Stanhope in the sense that both
characters are driven to excessive drinking by the effects of the war. Colonel Garrett has changed
and also turned to drink, we know this as the prose reads that Hilliard was appalled; he had not
dreamed that this could happen and so quickly to a man like Garrett . Despite this scene being the
first time we are introduced to Colonel Garrett; Hill manages to present the impact the war has had
on him through Hilliard s reaction to Garrett s new state of character. In contrast to Hill, Sheriff is
less subtle in his presentation of Stanhope and the character himself admits his change. It is
interesting to note that Garrett is minor within the novel whereas Stanhope is a major character in
the play which shows the different ways in which each author chose to present the effect of alcohol
within their text. At the beginning of the play, Raleigh appears to be optimistic and enthusiastic.
Even when he is ordered to go on a raid he seems proud to have been chosen and eager to get

Fluoride Conspiracy By Laurie Higgs
Fluoride has been used by people for many decades. The most common use is in toothpaste.
Fluoride was added to toothpaste to lower the amount of dental cavities that one gets, and works
by protecting the enamel (outer hard layer over the tooth). Another use of fluoride is in drinking
water. It was added to drinking water to also help with tooth decay. Many people are debating
whether or not this is truly safe. In the essay, The FluorideConspiracy , by Laurie Higgs, she talks
about the use of fluoride drinking waters and dangers it brings by using logos, pathos, and ethos.
Higgs explains in her essay that the use of fluoride has been used in water for some time now
and that it is used to help prevent tooth decay as stated in her citations. She further explains that
when brushing ones teeth and swallows an x amount of toothpaste that that one should called
poison control, so why would one be able to drink it? About sixty percent of homes contain
fluoride added water and an average person is suppose to drink eight 8 ounce glasses of water
each day, while the amount of fluoride in each glass contains more than twice the amount (to be
consumed) of fluoride allowed in toothpaste (Higgs par.2), and if one had too much... Show more

In the essay it states that fluoride in water is a dangerous poison and toxic (Higgs para.3). She
uses these words to explain the effects of fluoride and creates the reader to have fear. She also uses
appeals to pathos by explaining that by drinking the water one can increase hypothyroidism.
Hypothyroidism is when the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone. The essay
says that hypothyroidism can lead to depression, fatigue, weight gain, muscle and joint pains,
increased cholesterol levels and heart disease (as qtd. in Higgs par.5). The author uses human
health and the problems that can arise from drinking water with fluoride to evoke the readers

Compare And Contrast Rome And Greek Government
One thing constantly happening is this world, modern and past, is change. Ancient Greece and
Ancient Rome were no exceptions. Although these two great civilizations were similar, idealism
and conquests resulted in changes between their government, art, and religion.
Greece had three common forms of government, these were monarchy, oligarchy, and democracy.
The reason for many different types of government across Greece was due to the geography. The
ancient Greek city states were separated from each other by hilly countryside and all were near the
water. (http://ancienthistory.about.com). Because of the lack of motorboats, transportation between
the city states would have been timely and difficult. This resulted in small changes such as different
governments across the civilization.
In comparison, Rome also had a couple forms of government. Ancient Rome was a republic, but as
they conquered territory, Rome gathered part of the civilizations cultures and added it to their own.
For this reason Rome s government is a mixed Republican form ... Show more content on

The majority of their gods were from the Greek culture, but the Romans changes their names to
make it their own. The Greek Zeus became the Roman Jupiter, but he still was the god of the sky.
The Romans still worshipped similar to the Greeks where a sacrifice was offered, worshipped in
temples, but the Romans held more festivals than the Greeks did. Unlike Greece, where there was
only one main religion, in Rome at this time, other religions were starting to develop. Christianity
had begun to be preached in Rome and they were gaining congregations. The Christians often
experienced fierce persecution and took refuge in the catacombs of the cities; when discovered,
they most often chose a martyr s death. (Visual History of the World) Soon after though, a Christian
church was formed which allowed them to promote their religion

The Sacred Space And Sacred Spaces Forged By The Divine
Since their creation, humans have sought to find meaning from the mundane existence of
mortality. This quest for answers has motivated many to seek out the divine and sacred spaces
forged by the divine. Biblical scholar and historian Mircea Eliade argues that, man becomes
aware of the sacred because it manifests itself [and] to designate the act of manifestations of the
sacred [is the] proposed term hierophany (Eliade 1959: 11). In other words, a hierophany exists
when the divine chooses to reveal himself, by defining a space or object as sacred through the
divine s presence. After a hierophany occurs, the chosen object or space is deemed an axis mundi.
Eliade defines axis mundi as, a universal pillar which at once connects and supports heaven and
earth and whose base is fixed in the world below (Eliade 1959: 36). Using a comparative analysis
of biblical texts and scholarly articles, this paper will discuss how a sacred space, specifically
Jerusalem, manifests itself through God s choosing. Therefore Jerusalem is the holy dwelling
place of the divine, because God chose it through his application of multiple hierophanies and his
establishment of axes mundi within the city s walls. Jerusalem as a sacred dwelling place is
reflected though its similarities to the Garden of Eden, where God created the first human beings
on earth. In Genesis 2, God had planted a garden in the east, [and] a river watering the garden
flowed from Eden, there it was separated into four

Characteristics Of Geoffrey Chaucer
+Chaucer as a Narrator his technique and style.
As Dryden had correctly remarked, Chaucer was a man of the most comprehensive nature, because
he took into the compass of The Canterbury Tales the various manners and humors of the English
society as an integrated whole in his age. Yes, the Morning Star of English Literature Geoffrey
Chaucer, is indeed a great story teller and his descriptive and narrative skills have been praised by
critics over time and again. He is very simple, natural and an easy going poet who is humorous,
but his humor is coarse, suggestive and often paradoxical. His description is very precise and his
skills of narration made Kittredge call him the greatest of all narrative poets, without any boundary
of era or language. The most unique characteristic feature of Chaucer s narration is his sense of
artistic detachment from his subjects. He is a creative artist which finds reflection in the variety of
his methods of narration. This paper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The earlier poets of the period dealt with characters but those were compressed and did not find
any scope for independent development, Chaucer on the other hand, very intelligently, chose to be
a background voice, while allowing his characters to grow. Chaucer is a narrator through the voice
of his characters. Similar techniques were adopted by writers like William Shakespeare and
Henry Fielding in the following periods. Chaucer s methodology was medieval but his objectives
were modern. Chaucer established himself as a modern narrator whose concern was not limited to
narrating the story only, but creating certain impressions on the minds of the readers. Chaucer
handles the material so excellent that by the addition of a few skillful touches, the interest of
narrative has been subordinated to the strong impression of a noble character , as said by

The Band Of The Beatles
Even over 40 years after their breakup, it is almost impossible not to know who The Beatles are.
This band of the mid twentieth century set a high bar for all other musical groups at the time
they were active and even still today. Causing swarms of fans of all ages to scream and faint
everywhere they went, they were the world s most popular musicians. Although their name is well

adoring fans at a time gives dreamers hope. Today s generation cannot let tomorrow s generation
forget that dreams do come true if they try hard to make them happen and never give up, just as
The Beatlesnever did. As unbelievable as it might be, there are some people who think that this
shockingly powerful band were not as famous as they were made out to be. Even with nearly
every song being a chart topper, these people believe that there are bands that have accomplished
more than The Beatles. It is true that some have come close, but it is easy to see that The Beatles
were absolutely the most successful band of all time. The Beatles easily influenced the way
people dressed, listened to music, and views of the world (Brundrett para. 4). The band s first song

Music Is The Sounds And Lack Of Sounds Of A Musical Work
Jae Yun
Professor Jonathan Beckett
MUS 124 255W
July 31, 2015
MUS124 Long Paper One of the basic ideas defining music is outlined in the Professor Michael B.
Bakan s second proposition: that the sounds and lack of sounds of a musical work are organized.
Throughout the past years, many professors of ethnomusicology and music in general have
attempted to define exactly what music is. Although there was and is a lot of discussion on the
matter, most researchers began with the notion that music is essentially organized sound. However,
there are cases where sounds are organized but humans do not consider them as music. Some of
these instances include speech, poetry, and natural sounds. Due to this primitive and elementary
basis that music is organized sound, researchers have attempted to create conditions or categories
which music falls into. Despite the conflicting opinions on the different characteristics, I, along
with most researchers, believe that although music is indeed a form of organized sounds and
silences, this definition is too broad to accurately define music. Every form of music we hear
includes an organized framework in which sounds come together. Although music is organized
sound, it can be argued that not all organized sound is music. For example, language and human
speech consists of words, which essentially organized sounds. However, we do not consider a
conversation between people as music. Another example is natural sound we hear from the
environment.

The Process and Applications of Synthetic Biology
In today s society, there is the constant push in the science field to discover or create something
new that will redefine society s outlook on a certain subject. Most look to uncover large
discoveries, but this experiment looks toward the microscopic level. Synthetic biology is a very
useful tool that can lead to milestones in the science field. Synthetic biology is the design and
construction of new biological parts, devices, and systems. It focuses on the whole system of
genes and gene products to extend and modify the behavior of organisms and engineer them to
perform new tasks.(Andrianantoandro) Synthetic biology has to be done in a specific way to
achieve the desired product. The process begins with synthetic biologists using resources and
machinery of host cells. They will modify the cells themselves as well as engineer devices for the
cell. It is very important that the product is reliable and predictable. This can be achieved by
statistically using large numbers of independent cells or by synchronizing individual cells through
intercellular communication. Intercellular communication makes each cell more predictable and
reliable, and can coordinate tasks across heterogeneous cell populations to yield highly
sophisticated behavior. Therefore, multicellular systems are more reliable in performing complex
tasks.(Andrianantoandro) Although synthetic biology is still an up and coming field, there are
applications in society that are used today. Scientist John Melo, Chief

bankers in an attempt to save the stock market. Wiggin and other bankers committed substantial
funds for an investment pool in order to buy large blocks of shares of major U.S. corporations at
prices that were above the current market. This stopped the slide that day and stabilized the
market. However, in the Pecora Commission investigation of the Wall Street crash it was

company to buy the stocks. Additionally, Wiggin accepted a $100,000 a year pension for life but
later declined the pension because of public uproar. All Wiggin s money was made legally at the

The Value Of An Education
What is the value of an education really worth in today s society? In order to clearly understand the
worth of an education, one would have to understand what the word education really means.
According to dictionary.com, it defines the term education as, the act or process of imparting or
acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgement, and generally of
preparing oneself or others intellectually for mature life (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse
/education). An education is an important factor needed to succeed in the world we live in today.
Because of its importance, many are continuing their education beyond high school and a
bachelor s degree. If one chooses not to expand their knowledge and open their mind to be
taught, a person will then become stagnant and unfamiliar with the changes in our civilization.
Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. Nelson

in 2013 than people without a degree. That s up from 89 percent five years earlier, 85 percent a

The Core Beliefs Of The Anglo-Saxons In Beowulf
The core beliefs and the things the anglo saxons saw as important are clear throughout the story
of beowulf. The anglo saxons believed in strong loyalty to each other and to the leader. The anglo

and core values are exhibited in beowulf.
Beowulf has a strong anglo saxon values sprinkled through it including a strong sense of loyalty.
This sense of loyalty shows up time and time again within beowulf. One of the most notable
times loyalty is brought up in beowulf is in The Last Battle. Wiglaf is the character used to show

Love In Mrs Dalloway
In her own writing on the novel Mrs Dalloway, Virginia Woolf stated, I want to give life and
death, sanity and insanity; I want to criticize the social system, and to show it at work at its most
intense... In this essay, I shall use this quote as a means to examine the theme of love and solitude
in one of her most famous novels which follows a set of characters that go about their day. Virginia
Wolf was able to illustrate the isolation one experiences within its own mindand the importance of
one s soul and ways in which souls connect through different memories and events. Even though
independency is highly valued, the inability for people to communicate and build meaningful
relationships is the most important aspect in the novel.

Although Peter claims that they also had that kind of intimate relationship as she and Richard
have, this queer power of communicating without Words...he always saw through Clarissa. Not
that he said anything, of course; just sat looking glum. It was the way their quarrels often began.
(Woolf 49). she however did not share this opinion with him as she thought It was extraordinary
how Peter put her into these states...He made her see herself; exaggerate. It was idiotic. (Woolf
137). It is evident that Peter never actually managed to have that kind of connection with her; he
just had an influence on her without being able to break those boundaries she set up in her mind.
Furthermore, Peter believed that by marrying Richard she lost her identity as she was now „the
perfect hostess (Woolf 6) which organizes parties in order to compensate for her lack of self .
Peter is too self centred in order to be a good husband to Clarissa. In his dream he imagines and
objectifies women and then wishes to be saved by them but the traveller in the dream eventually
realizes he has nobody there to share his difficulties with. In addition, Clarissa s isolation can also
be connected to her rejection of religion. As she was annoyed by Peter s intrusion in her privacy
she was equally annoyed by Miss Kilman s intrusion in her daughter s life. Love and religion!

Aircraft Simulation Paper
This project is intended to give the student an improved understanding of aircraft dynamic behavior
thought the use of a SIMULINK flight simulation. The student is to use knowledge of flying and
handling qualities to appropriately grade a certain maneuver, of a certain aircraft, under a certain
condition. The student is to modify the performance of an aircraft through the implementation of a
control law.
For the purposed of this project, the aircraft in question will be a Convair 880 at an altitude of
35,000 ft. and Mach number of 0.8. The maneuvers performed will be predetermined pitch, roll
and yaw maneuvers. These maneuvers will be completed by a pilot using a joystick to make
control inputs with the aircraft utilizing a feedback control law, and with the aircraft in open loop
configuration no augmentation whatsoever. The student will also have a hard coded computer
pilot perform these maneuvers to maintain consistency. The first step in creating the control law
was placing the CL poles. The initial poles would then be placed in a K matrix; the pole values are

The Crime And Crime Prevention
In the world there are many social problems and most of them affect each and every one of us,
such as cancer or Ebola. One that stands out is the rise in crime in America. Crime is huge in
America although law enforcement say they are doing something about and have it handled, the
truth is it is out of control. Stated in America.Net in an article online Attorney General Eric Holder
spoke at the Project Safe Neighborhoods annual conference in New Orleans on Tuesday, July 13,
2010 and endorsed three crimecontrol strategies. Law enforcement through cooperative efforts
between police, community and prosecutors to reduce violent crime, and the incarceration of
high risk offenders. Project Safe Neighborhoods. Crime prevention by addressing underlying
social issues. Reentry programs to assist offenders returning from prison. If these programs are
being put in place then there should be a decreased incidence of crime in America. People can t
even leave their homes without having to worry if something is going to happen to them. This is
a growing concern in America, but what is America doing to prevent this from happening? There
are many organizations working on the issue of crime to reduce the number of incidences. There
is one main contributing factor lead increases the likelihood of crime and that is poverty.
However, it is ironic that although poverty is a not so pleasant thing, it is needed to prevent
communism and the risk of taking our freedom away as stated as a

Cortical Bone Loss In The Neolithic Community
Unlike Greece where the majority of the research has been the team has also started to look and do
research in the Neolithic settlement of Çatalhöyük. One of the research projects that occurred in
that location is the investigation of cortical bone loss and fracture patterns in the Neolithic
community using radiogrammetry. The main focus of this study is an examination of the widely
used calculation that expresses second metacarpal cortical bone values, followed by an
examination of age and sex related patterns of cortical bone loss and skeletal fragility fracture in a

While it is argued that the influence of bone/body size is removed from MWI and CTI and can be
demonstrated algebraically, statistically and graphically, analogous CI values in this analysis did
not differ noticeably or influence statistical outcomes. We do suggest however, that the relationship
between size variables and measurement variables are explored prior to the application of ratios.
Bone quantity and quality of the human skeleton is the cumulative product of health, diet and
nutrition, physical activity and lifestyle over the life course. Further, while nutrition plays a key
role in skeletal growth and maintenance during all developmental stages, diet and nutrition are
intricately woven with other biological, social, and cultural influences on the skeleton. Bone tissue
is a dynamic medium that is capable of recording many life history events, allowing us to
reconstruct some of the key influences on bone loss and fragility in past populations. While our
work, on cortical bone loss at Çatalhöyük remains preliminary, and will benefit with the addition
of biomechanical analyses in other long bones of the skeleton, the patterns revealed in this study do
provide some insight on bone health across different life stages, particularly in those individuals
from the later Neolithic phases of mound occupation. Adult cortical bone loss measured in the
metacarpals shows some of the expected age related patterns but

The Theory Of Self Determination Essay
The idea of national self determination is beneficial to those living in a nation state, however, the
prerequisites required to make it available to many is too difficult to attain. Nation states are said
to be the ideal regime: a system by the people, for the people. However, things in theories do not
always work out in practice. In this paper, I will explore concepts regarding self determination
through its definitions, origins, theories, and practices, following with a number of complications
that restrict practical use and potential reasons of why the idea of self determination may be
impractical to use on a global scale.
What is national self determination and where did it originate? In order to answer this critical
question, one must understand the concepts of nations, states, and nation states. The two terms
nations and states are often used as synonyms, when in fact, they are two completely distinct
concepts. As introduced in our text, Introduction to politics and government, by Eric Mintz, David
Close, Osvaldo Croci (2016), a state is defined as an independent, self governing political
community that has the power to create rules that are binding on the population (p. 26). The three
elements of a state include territory, a population, and sovereignty (which will be discussed in
greater detail later). These are defining elements of; a state must have territory (land for its
community), a population residing within that territory (no matter how few), it must

Persuasive Essay On Hard Work
It s common to think that hard work is the key that will help people move up in the world, and
that is true for the most part. However what is one supposed to do when there s a roadblock that is
difficult to overcome? There are factors that may all together or by one at a time cause someone to
not achieve that pay that wish. Due to education and wealth, discrimination, worker abilities and
monopolypower, the opportunities of equal pay isn t always obtainable to workers.
First factor of income quality, not every citizen has the best education they can get for that high
paying job, and not many has the funds to get that job they really desire. In our world, not
everything can be as fair for those who strive for success. Consider this, many people start at
working minimum wage which is about nine dollar an hour. For one waitress addressed in a PBS
news article by Paul Solman, that one waitress only earned $2.13 an hour before taxes. It is stated
by many who are struggling with minimum wage that it is not enough to live on. As the cost of
living increases, the minimum wage becomes insufficient in covering bills and cost. As a result of
this situation, there are inspiring students who are unable to go further with their education and
move up in life. Being stuck near the poverty line creates a situation where as much as those
workers desire to progress in their career, insufficient funds and the lack of education keeps them
from doing so as many higher paying jobs require

Two way radio transmitter receivers, which are called readers, send a signal to the tag and receive a
response. There are two types of tags; one is known as active and the other, passive. Active tags
have their own power source, and on board memory which sends its ID signal periodically. Passive
tags are not self powered, which gets and is activated only in the presence of RFID reader.
Electromagnetic fields are used in order to transmit data from the RFID chip.
RFID has been employed in various industries to keep tracking of their products. For example they
can be installed in an automobile industry to keep track on the production throughout assembly.
Similarly, RFID tags are now being used in the pharmaceuticals industry to keep track of medicinal
items in warehouses and throughout the supply chain. The supply chain can often be complex in
nature, with several data points as it relates to item movement from the original manufacturer to its
final destination, the customer.
There have been many proven situations where RFID has been a crucial player in this area. Supply
chain tracking would have to include all the processes involved from manufacturer to customer
(manufacturing, transportation and distribution) in order to be effective. The introduction of RFID
in supply chain management will not only replace barcodes but also ensure the right goods are
available in the right place with no discrepancies. In the fast paced world of

What Is The Similarities Between The Scarface And The...
I. Introduction
Scarface is a crime drama film that is famously known for being one of the most violent and
profanes films during its time of release. Focusing on the rise of Tony Montana (Al Pacino) on
the criminal ladder and becoming more psychotic as his career as the leader of his drug empire
progresses, leading to his eventual downfall. Directed by Brian de Palma, written by Oliver Stone
and with performance of the cast with the lead Al Pacino, Scarface became a cult classic among the
masses.
The Godfather is a mob film focuses on the Corleone Family, with its head Vito Corleone(Marlon
Brando) trying to find a suitable heir to his empire, while war is breathing down the neck of other
crime families. Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) then steps in to organize the family back to shape.
Directed by Francis Ford Coppola and based from the novel of the same name written by Mario
Puzo. It received critical acclaim by critics and was cited as an influence by real life mobsters due
to its rather realistic portrayal of gangster life and Cosa Nostra.
Even with the similarities of theme, both movies have a parallel between how it portrays itself, and
it further widens the gap due to its difference of timelines.

How Did Samuel De Champlain Affect The World
Ever wonder what marriages were like in the 1600s? Well it was legal to date someone that was
31 years younger and at the age of 12 and that is exactly what Samuel De Champlain did. (https:/
/apecsec.org/interesting facts about samuel de champlain/) When Champlain reached the age of
43 he married Helene BoullГ© when she was 12 years old on December 30, 1610. Champlain
was born in 1574 in Brouage, France and died in 1635 in Quebec City, France. Samuel De
Champlain did many things that have affected the way we think about the world today. One of
these reasons is that he mapped the Great Lakes. Another reason is that he mapped the Atlantic
coast of America. The final reason is that he established and governed New France and the City of

One reason why is that is was very important to the growth of Canada and America. This is
because without the establishment of New France and Quebec than a big part of North America
would either not be governed by any country or could be governed by a different country which
would completely change how North America is today. Another reason is that it is important to
the location and way that Quebec is today. Without Samuel De Champlain to govern and
establish it, Quebec may have been in a completely different place, very different based on who
established it, and could potentially be nonexistent. This is why the establishment and governing of
New France and Quebec has contributed to new ideas and the understanding of the world. Dk dk

Describe The Relationship Between Putin And Thomas Hobbes
Russia s power has increased a lot over the past few years. Not only has their nation increased
power, so has their leader, Vladimir Putin. Putin has many interesting aspects as a person and in his
governmental styles. He gained these from many different people including Thomas Hobbes, and
John Locke. Vladimir Putins policies are both supported by John Locke and Thomas Hobbes, but
when it comes to Vladimir Putin as a person only Hobbes is right.
Putin believes that one man can control all and prevent damage from occurring. While working in
the KGB he began discovering the power and strength one man can have. He started to think along
the lines of Thomas Hobbes; believing the ideas that all men are evil and need one ruler to control

comes to government and his people he tries to make their life better. Putin maybe want all

off the debts they had with other countries. Russia has understood what debts can do to your
people when they are being prolonged to pay off. Although Putin may want to be their one
supreme leader he can not accomplish that if he has to worry about possible revolutions. When
some people first come to office, they typically try to make their plans happen. This wasn t the
case when Vladimir Putin came to power. When Putin came to be president he was a faced with
a serious issue that was previously left for him, he had to solve the Ukraine conflict. The power
of the Society, or legislative, constituted by them, can never be supposed to extend farther that the

doing so he also made his country even safer than it was originally. Solving the Ukraine conflict
allowed people within and around that area to feel safer. Instead of being neutral in the situation
like other countries, he got involved. Putin may appear fierce but he has a soft spot for the safety
of his own and others.
Vladimir Putin s personality and his policies are all based off Hobbes and Locke. When
describing Putin s personality Hobbes was the better comparison point. But, when it comes to his

Traffic Control And Congestion Control Essay
1. Increasing the router memory to infinite cannot control the congestion. Agree or disagree?
Elaborate briefly (60 100 words) Why is it true that route with infinite memory does try to
minimize congestion, this can simply get out of control and get worse if the rate of incoming
packets is far more than the outgoing packet and especially if more incoming packet from
multiple input line arriving at any given router need the same output channel. This build up a
queue and before other packet reach the beginning of the queue they have already timeout
prompting re submission of duplicates building up the queue again leading to more congestion. A
lot of other factors are in play here, among these include router CPU and bandwidth. 2. Compare
the following: Flow Control vs Congestion Control Congestion control basically states that a
network device can transmit only a certain number of packets and can not add more packets to a
network until an acknowledgement is received. Congestion control prevents too much data from
being injected into the network, causing links and switches to be overloaded Flow control works
by refusing new connections until congestion is resolved. In serial transmissions, Xon/Xoff is
used for flow control. It is a handshaking mechanism that will keep a sender from sending data
faster than a receiver can receive it. flow control prevents senders from overrunning the capacity of
the receivers Open loop congestion control methods vs Closed Loop congestion

I believe that Abraham Lincoln is the best United States President because once he won the
election of 1860, he caused some chaos in the southern states. He became unpopular to some but
he stayed focused and determined. Lincoln, while in office wanted to change the world by trying

Mr Smith Goes To Washington Analysis
In the film Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Mr. Jeff Smith is next in line to be a senator after
senator Foley passes away. Mr. Smith is then faced with many challenges as a politician and we
see all a few of his qualities that helped him with all of his decisions. A few of these qualities
were that he was honest, naive and he lived his life with integrity. In the film, Mr. Smith is a
young politician that is very inexperienced once he gets to the big playing fields in washington.
Regardless of this he stays honest throughout his journey, and this is a great quality to have.
During his time in Washington and the press would always ask him questions he always told
honest answers. His opinions on the bills they voted on were always his honest opinion.
Although he was honest he was perceived as naive, he was a young politician and did not know
very many of the rule. This was a setback for Mr. Smith when they were discussing bills. At one
point in the film Mr. Smith attempts to speak against a bill, but from him not understanding
protocol he yields the floor to Paine, who denounces Mr. Smith on charges if using the boys camp
for personal gains. Mr. Smith lives his life with integrity, meaning he has strong morals.... Show

Smith possesses could be positive or negative qualities for a congressman or congresswoman
today. I believe it depends on the way you look at how these qualities could be beneficial or not.
Being honest and living your life with integrity is a positive thing to have. If you are honest then
as citizens we know that we can trust you, and that you won t work unfairly. If a congressman or
woman lives their life with integrity it shows that those people really want to make a change in
America or that they are wise. If a congressman or women possessed the naive quality I believe it
would not benefit the way they are perceived. They would be thought to be not as well fit for the
job and unprepared to take on the task for you could make many

Brand Manager For Topshop Is The Most Difficult Market
TOPSHOP is mid level high street and it is possibly the most difficult market to sell products in.
This is because it requires a lot of specific branding to strongly create an extremely clear
consumer market. The products are neither cheap, which removes the appeal to those wanting
throw away or value products, or the luxury market, which would see the items as low quality.
However, if placed correctly, it creates some of the most loyal consumers there are today.
Products are designed for the core customer in terms of materials, embellishments, shape, colour
and style, and the business is very focused on every aspect of their customer in the way that it
runs. This can include how quickly new items get added to the store and where the stores are
located. Their target audience are offered a number of different styles and trends every season and
the products can range from ВЈ20 ВЈ150, with some occasional cheaper and expensive products
added at specific times. Jane Shepherdson, brand manager for TOPSHOPsays: Officially our target
market is 15 to 30 year old women, but internally we target everyone who loves fashion, regardless
of age or income. TOPSHOP mastered the art of bringing high fashion trends to the high street and
are now considered fashion establishment and TOPSHOP are the only high street fashion store to
appear in London Fashion Weekand are one of many to take on the see now buy now pop up shop

Knowledge And Virtue In Meno
Socrates is known as one of the most prestigious philosophers to ever be alive. In his writing
Meno, he tries to figure out or show what knowledge and virtue truly are. Throughout Meno,
Socrates uses the argument that knowledge and virtue either are used for good or for evil. The
majority of men are good and honorable which always strives for good, but there are some men
that want evil and strive for folly. In his argument, Socrates explains that knowledge is something
more than just true opinion. His argument explains knowledge as being something that was given
to us when we were born. Socrates believes that true knowledge and opinion will always end up
giving the correct answer to any sort of issue. When looked at throughout this text, this... Show

So what is the difference between the two? Socrates believed that knowledge was something better
than true opinion, which is very true, but I have an even better, slightly different description. I
firmly believe that true opinion comes out of the knowledge that we learn. Without knowledge of
anything, how can one have an opinion? Socrates thought of knowledge as something that can be
true or false. This is another area that I disagree with him on. Knowledge can give you
information on all things. You may receive knowledge about beneficial things or you may receive
it on something that could be harmful. Either way, it does not make the knowledge false. All
knowledge is true; it just may be given for different

Different Sources Of Finance And Different Legal Systems
Question 1 (a): Outline in your own words the key, PRE IFRS, developmental factors that can differ
across countries (e.g. different sources of finance and different legal systems). In your answer,
summarise the differences and any similarities between the development factors of China and
Australia.
It seems that the key issue facing global financial markets and international investors is worldwide
accounting diversity as considerable differences exist across countries which inevitably leads to
chaos in global capital markets as different amounts are being reported on balance sheets and
income statements (Doupnik Perera, 2012, p. 23). This type of environment can create extensive
opportunities for corruption and poor performance and it is ... Show more content on

Source of funding is regarding who owns the shares in the most powerful listed companies within
each nation. The major sources of financing for business are either family members, banks,
governments, or shareholders (Doupnik Perera, 2012, p. 29). For example, due to being a
communist state with very little opportunity for private ownership, China s major company
financing is dominated by the Chinese government as well as their government controlled banks
(Fernando, 2010). This can be seen in one of China s largest companies, Petro China, as its
controlling shareholder, the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), is wholly state owned
(PetroChina, 2015). Sources of finance from governments and their government controlled banks
means that there is less pressure for public accountability and information disclosure (Doupnik
Perera, 2012, p. 29). In contrast, Australia runs a free market economy where private business
enterprises seem to dominate. This can be seen in one of Australia s largest companies, BHP, who
are privately owned by millions of dispersed shareholders such as private investors, superannuation
funds and corporations (Stockzoa, 2016). This is important to note as more information is
available and demand for disclosure occurs the more privately owned companies are dependent on
funding from the general population (Doupnik Perera, 2012, p. 30).
The two major types of legal systems

  • 6. How I Approach Program Development HOW WOULD I APPROACH PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT Upon reading and reflecting the insight and knowledge gained from this case study my three values for a program development and strategic analysis would be: a personal connection with the local population, minimizing hierarchy, and enforcing accountability and transparency in the organization. In terms of who I would work with, I favour the idea of working in a smaller organization. I would accept funds from multilateral organizations, not the government, and I would be working at the local level. Working in a smaller organization at the local level allows for greater accountability and a lesser chance of conflicting motives. As previously mentioned, smaller organizations may lead to exclusion. To prevent this I would be willing to work with like minded small organizations to divide the population. My main interest would be cultivating a relationship with the population. The personal connection with the population is probably the hardest task because we are not all as willing as Roy to immerse ourselves in the community. This relationship also relies on the population because they need to be willing to share and collaborate. This connection is the most important because it allows for the strongest trust and the greatest understanding of the needs in the area that we are working. It also allows us to ensure that our endeavours for the project align with our program. Having an extensive understanding the needs specific ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Then compare the ways in which Sherriff presents the effects of war on the individual with the ways in which Hill shows the impact of war on characters in Strange Meeting . The character most obviously affected by the war in Journey s End is Stanhope. We learn early on in the play that Stanhope drinks very heavily when Osborne and Hardy have a conversation about him. His drinking habits are continually referred to throughout and although we learn early on that it is something that the war has forced him into, his hatred for the war or his weak moments aren t made clear to the reader until now when he admits his loathing to Hibbert. Hill s character, Colonel Garrett in Strange Meeting is similar to Stanhope in the sense that both characters are driven to excessive drinking by the effects of the war. Colonel Garrett has changed and also turned to drink, we know this as the prose reads that Hilliard was appalled; he had not dreamed that this could happen and so quickly to a man like Garrett . Despite this scene being the first time we are introduced to Colonel Garrett; Hill manages to present the impact the war has had on him through Hilliard s reaction to Garrett s new state of character. In contrast to Hill, Sheriff is less subtle in his presentation of Stanhope and the character himself admits his change. It is interesting to note that Garrett is minor within the novel whereas Stanhope is a major character in the play which shows the different ways in which each author chose to present the effect of alcohol within their text. At the beginning of the play, Raleigh appears to be optimistic and enthusiastic. Even when he is ordered to go on a raid he seems proud to have been chosen and eager to get ... • 8. Fluoride Conspiracy By Laurie Higgs Fluoride has been used by people for many decades. The most common use is in toothpaste. Fluoride was added to toothpaste to lower the amount of dental cavities that one gets, and works by protecting the enamel (outer hard layer over the tooth). Another use of fluoride is in drinking water. It was added to drinking water to also help with tooth decay. Many people are debating whether or not this is truly safe. In the essay, The FluorideConspiracy , by Laurie Higgs, she talks about the use of fluoride drinking waters and dangers it brings by using logos, pathos, and ethos. Higgs explains in her essay that the use of fluoride has been used in water for some time now and that it is used to help prevent tooth decay as stated in her citations. She further explains that when brushing ones teeth and swallows an x amount of toothpaste that that one should called poison control, so why would one be able to drink it? About sixty percent of homes contain fluoride added water and an average person is suppose to drink eight 8 ounce glasses of water each day, while the amount of fluoride in each glass contains more than twice the amount (to be consumed) of fluoride allowed in toothpaste (Higgs par.2), and if one had too much... • 9. Compare And Contrast Rome And Greek Government One thing constantly happening is this world, modern and past, is change. Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome were no exceptions. Although these two great civilizations were similar, idealism and conquests resulted in changes between their government, art, and religion. Greece had three common forms of government, these were monarchy, oligarchy, and democracy. The reason for many different types of government across Greece was due to the geography. The ancient Greek city states were separated from each other by hilly countryside and all were near the water. (http://ancienthistory.about.com). Because of the lack of motorboats, transportation between the city states would have been timely and difficult. This resulted in small changes such as different governments across the civilization. In comparison, Rome also had a couple forms of government. Ancient Rome was a republic, but as they conquered territory, Rome gathered part of the civilizations cultures and added it to their own. • 10. The Sacred Space And Sacred Spaces Forged By The Divine Since their creation, humans have sought to find meaning from the mundane existence of mortality. This quest for answers has motivated many to seek out the divine and sacred spaces forged by the divine. Biblical scholar and historian Mircea Eliade argues that, man becomes aware of the sacred because it manifests itself [and] to designate the act of manifestations of the sacred [is the] proposed term hierophany (Eliade 1959: 11). In other words, a hierophany exists when the divine chooses to reveal himself, by defining a space or object as sacred through the divine s presence. After a hierophany occurs, the chosen object or space is deemed an axis mundi. Eliade defines axis mundi as, a universal pillar which at once connects and supports heaven and earth and whose base is fixed in the world below (Eliade 1959: 36). Using a comparative analysis of biblical texts and scholarly articles, this paper will discuss how a sacred space, specifically Jerusalem, manifests itself through God s choosing. Therefore Jerusalem is the holy dwelling place of the divine, because God chose it through his application of multiple hierophanies and his establishment of axes mundi within the city s walls. Jerusalem as a sacred dwelling place is reflected though its similarities to the Garden of Eden, where God created the first human beings on earth. In Genesis 2, God had planted a garden in the east, [and] a river watering the garden flowed from Eden, there it was separated into four ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As Dryden had correctly remarked, Chaucer was a man of the most comprehensive nature, because he took into the compass of The Canterbury Tales the various manners and humors of the English society as an integrated whole in his age. Yes, the Morning Star of English Literature Geoffrey Chaucer, is indeed a great story teller and his descriptive and narrative skills have been praised by critics over time and again. He is very simple, natural and an easy going poet who is humorous, but his humor is coarse, suggestive and often paradoxical. His description is very precise and his skills of narration made Kittredge call him the greatest of all narrative poets, without any boundary of era or language. The most unique characteristic feature of Chaucer s narration is his sense of artistic detachment from his subjects. Chaucer s methodology was medieval but his objectives were modern. • 14. Music Is The Sounds And Lack Of Sounds Of A Musical Work Jae Yun Professor Jonathan Beckett MUS 124 255W July 31, 2015 MUS124 Long Paper One of the basic ideas defining music is outlined in the Professor Michael B. Bakan s second proposition: that the sounds and lack of sounds of a musical work are organized. Throughout the past years, many professors of ethnomusicology and music in general have attempted to define exactly what music is. Although there was and is a lot of discussion on the matter, most researchers began with the notion that music is essentially organized sound. However, there are cases where sounds are organized but humans do not consider them as music. Some of these instances include speech, poetry, and natural sounds. Due to this primitive and elementary basis that music is organized sound, researchers have attempted to create conditions or categories which music falls into. Despite the conflicting opinions on the different characteristics, I, along with most researchers, believe that although music is indeed a form of organized sounds and silences, this definition is too broad to accurately define music. Every form of music we hear includes an organized framework in which sounds come together. Although music is organized sound, it can be argued that not all organized sound is music. For example, language and human speech consists of words, which essentially organized sounds. However, we do not consider a conversation between people as music. Another example is natural sound we hear from the environment. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most look to uncover large discoveries, but this experiment looks toward the microscopic level. Synthetic biology is a very useful tool that can lead to milestones in the science field. Synthetic biology is the design and construction of new biological parts, devices, and systems. It focuses on the whole system of genes and gene products to extend and modify the behavior of organisms and engineer them to perform new tasks.(Andrianantoandro) Synthetic biology has to be done in a specific way to achieve the desired product. The process begins with synthetic biologists using resources and machinery of host cells. They will modify the cells themselves as well as engineer devices for the cell. It is very important that the product is reliable and predictable. This can be achieved by statistically using large numbers of independent cells or by synchronizing individual cells through intercellular communication. Intercellular communication makes each cell more predictable and reliable, and can coordinate tasks across heterogeneous cell populations to yield highly sophisticated behavior. Therefore, multicellular systems are more reliable in performing complex tasks.(Andrianantoandro) Although synthetic biology is still an up and coming field, there are applications in society that are used today. This stopped the slide that day and stabilized the market. However, in the Pecora Commission investigation of the Wall Street crash it was discovered that starting in September of that year Wiggin began selling short his personal shares of Chase. The Theory Of Self Determination Essay The idea of national self determination is beneficial to those living in a nation state, however, the prerequisites required to make it available to many is too difficult to attain. Nation states are said to be the ideal regime: a system by the people, for the people. However, things in theories do not always work out in practice. In this paper, I will explore concepts regarding self determination through its definitions, origins, theories, and practices, following with a number of complications that restrict practical use and potential reasons of why the idea of self determination may be impractical to use on a global scale. What is national self determination and where did it originate? In order to answer this critical question, one must understand the concepts of nations, states, and nation states. The two terms nations and states are often used as synonyms, when in fact, they are two completely distinct concepts. As introduced in our text, Introduction to politics and government, by Eric Mintz, David Close, Osvaldo Croci (2016), a state is defined as an independent, self governing political community that has the power to create rules that are binding on the population (p. 26). The three elements of a state include territory, a population, and sovereignty (which will be discussed in greater detail later). These are defining elements of; a state must have territory (land for its community), a population residing within that territory (no matter how few), it must ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Persuasive Essay On Hard Work It s common to think that hard work is the key that will help people move up in the world, and that is true for the most part. However what is one supposed to do when there s a roadblock that is difficult to overcome? There are factors that may all together or by one at a time cause someone to not achieve that pay that wish. Due to education and wealth, discrimination, worker abilities and monopolypower, the opportunities of equal pay isn t always obtainable to workers. First factor of income quality, not every citizen has the best education they can get for that high paying job, and not many has the funds to get that job they really desire. In our world, not everything can be as fair for those who strive for success. Consider this, many people start at working minimum wage which is about nine dollar an hour. For one waitress addressed in a PBS news article by Paul Solman, that one waitress only earned $2.13 an hour before taxes. It is stated by many who are struggling with minimum wage that it is not enough to live on. As the cost of living increases, the minimum wage becomes insufficient in covering bills and cost. As a result of this situation, there are inspiring students who are unable to go further with their education and move up in life. Being stuck near the poverty line creates a situation where as much as those workers desire to progress in their career, insufficient funds and the lack of education keeps them from doing so as many higher paying jobs require ... Passive tags are not self powered, which gets and is activated only in the presence of RFID reader. Electromagnetic fields are used in order to transmit data from the RFID chip. RFID has been employed in various industries to keep tracking of their products. For example they can be installed in an automobile industry to keep track on the production throughout assembly. Similarly, RFID tags are now being used in the pharmaceuticals industry to keep track of medicinal items in warehouses and throughout the supply chain. The supply chain can often be complex in nature, with several data points as it relates to item movement from the original manufacturer to its final destination, the customer. There have been many proven situations where RFID has been a crucial player in this area. Supply chain tracking would have to include all the processes involved from manufacturer to customer (manufacturing, transportation and distribution) in order to be effective. The introduction of RFID in supply chain management will not only replace barcodes but also ensure the right goods are available in the right place with no discrepancies. • 39. Traffic Control And Congestion Control Essay 1. Increasing the router memory to infinite cannot control the congestion. Agree or disagree? Elaborate briefly (60 100 words) Why is it true that route with infinite memory does try to minimize congestion, this can simply get out of control and get worse if the rate of incoming packets is far more than the outgoing packet and especially if more incoming packet from multiple input line arriving at any given router need the same output channel. This build up a queue and before other packet reach the beginning of the queue they have already timeout prompting re submission of duplicates building up the queue again leading to more congestion. A lot of other factors are in play here, among these include router CPU and bandwidth. 2. Compare the following: Flow Control vs Congestion Control Congestion control basically states that a network device can transmit only a certain number of packets and can not add more packets to a network until an acknowledgement is received. Congestion control prevents too much data from being injected into the network, causing links and switches to be overloaded Flow control works by refusing new connections until congestion is resolved. In serial transmissions, Xon/Xoff is used for flow control. For example, due to being a communist state with very little opportunity for private ownership, China s major company financing is dominated by the Chinese government as well as their government controlled banks (Fernando, 2010). This can be seen in one of China s largest companies, Petro China, as its controlling shareholder, the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), is wholly state owned (PetroChina, 2015). Sources of finance from governments and their government controlled banks means that there is less pressure for public accountability and information disclosure (Doupnik Perera, 2012, p. 29).
