Climate Change In Vancouver Essay
The weather of the 3 cities over the past four days shows that Vancouver has the highest temps
which are: 9В°C, 7В°C, 4В°C, and 8В°C, there were 4 days with no precipitation. Vancouver has
such warm temperatures because it has the Pacific Ocean nearby that pushes cold air and water
heats slow, and the lack of precipitation is caused by the fact that the its too coldfor water vapor to
appear but no too cold for snow. Toronto has the second warmest temperatures which are:
8.6В°C, 16В°C, 10В°C, and 10В°C, in Toronto there were 3 days without precipitation but one
day had drifting snow, the lack of precipitation is cause by the cold temps and not enough heat
for the water cycle, it s also due to the low latitudes and Lake Ontario keeps a slight amount of
heat. Saskatoon was the coldest of the three with temps of: 20.4В°C, 18В°C, 17В°C, and 21В°C

Life zones on a mountain reflect the changes, plants at the base are the same as those in
surrounding countryside, but no trees at all can grow above the timber line. Snow crowns the
highest elevations. Another factor is landforms, air masses meet at a mountain and it is forced
upwards and this has an effect, the air cools. Air can only keep some moisture, once it reaches its
limit the moisture is offloaded in the form of rain. The colder the air, the less water vapor it can
contain so as the air rises and cools it leads to precipitation. Vancouver has mountains and is
heated by the water. Toronto has many pavement roads the ground cools quickly, but it has a
slight high elevation which cause it to experience cold weather. Saskatoon has no vegetation and
has a lower elevation which cause it to be really cold because air is free and circulates to move

Francis And Clare War Analysis
It is often said that Saint Francis and Saint Clare had internal and external experience of war.
Examples of internal war that Francis and Clare faced would be stress, thoughts, and emotions.
Examples of external war that Francis and Clare faced would be beatings from parents, being
prisoner, being a part of a war, and falling ill. Francis and Clare both were heavily impacted by the
internal and external war they faced. These impacts had changed their lives drastically and had
changed their view related to the world and church.
Francis was on this planet a very long time ago, but he had a huge impact on religion. Francis lived
for about forty four years and he went through changes for a good reason. In the year of 1202,

Clare lived for about sixty year and she went through changes for a good reason. Clare s wars are
started when she was six years old, when Clare and her family was escaping for the war that was
going on in Assisi. She dropped her favorite doll and she left her parents to go and get her doll.
She was blocked by returning to her family by a warrior and that warrior, Francis, let her go to
be with her family. This event him her emotional and it will have an big impact later in her life.
The war had played a huge external war on her life by making her move out of her home and not
returning for more than ten years. This was a stressful and emotional event in her life. When she
returned home she went to church and was very surprised who was preacher. It was Francis, she
has seen how much he had changed and she was feeling empowered. A couple of years later, she
finally made her mind up to join Francis and his movement. One night, she left with friends to go
the church and forfeit everything they own and to become one of them. Her family was not that
happy with her and tried to stop her, like Francis father had did. After all the internal and external
war Clare had faced she made the move to join Francis and the Franciscan values by being the first

Williams Honors College Experience Essay
The Williams Honors College was extremely influential in my college experience. The Williams
Honors College provided me with peers, mentors, and experiences that allowed me to have an
unforgettable college experience.
My first experience with the University of Akron was through an Honors Scholarship Friday.
When I came to campus for that event as a high school senior, I went through a series of interviews.
These interviews, despite being nerve wracking, provided me with a first hand opportunity to
interact with and ask questions about the Honors College at the University of Akron. As someone
who was very interested in studying business, I had my heart set on Miami University. My mind
quickly opened after my exposure to the then University ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

With this lesson in mind, I joined the Phi Delta Theta fraternity, which deepened my friendships
and enthusiasm for service. Through Phi Delta Theta, I also had a chance to meet passionate
University of Akron alumni who deepened my commitment to the Akron community. I also sought
out internships earlier than most students in my field, and was able to complete two before entering
my senior year. During the summer following my sophomore year, I was honored to have the
opportunity to complete an internship with the J.M. Smucker Company. More recently, I completed
an internship with Ernst Young, LLP, one of the four largest professional services firms in the
world, where I will be working full time upon graduation. I would not have had the knowledge or
the confidence to pursue these opportunities without the mentoring I received through the Williams
Honors College.
Though the Williams Honors College had a tremendous impact on my undergraduate days, I am
very excited about how it will impact my future. The Honors College has deepened my
commitment to the University of Akron and the greater Akron community. Though neither of my
parents are from Akron, they moved me here when I was two years old. Akron is my home and
my time at the University has secured my roots. I am appreciative of everything the Williams
Honors College has given me, and I cannot wait to give some of that back to the University of
Akron and the Williams Honors College in the

As time passes by, children grow up, and reach a point where they have to make decisions for
their future. Most of them will go to college, but it is their choice to make a big jump to success
or have a bad attitude to everything and waste the rest of their lives. I, a seventeen year old
student, was stuck in a world of choices, and did not know which way to go. Since I was not a
very good studentat school, everybody advised me to enroll in an easy to get admitted to college in
Vietnam. As a stubborn girl, I objected to that, and made a big decision that surprised all of them:
to apply for the APU scholarship to study abroad.
When deciding to apply for the scholarship offered by APU, I have met a number of challenges.

I also learnt that with some efforts and determination, anything is possible.
During the time I was preparing for the APU tuition reduction scholarship, I found some
difficulties in completing the application, writing essays, and preparing for the interview.
Therefore, getting a part time job in the admission office of APU as an online consultant is what I
want to do to help the candidates like me. I once had a Skype session with a student from APU
named Bek, and the session went quite well. He gave me some advice for my essays, the interview,
and some information about part time jobs for international students. That helped me a lot.
Furthermore, as a student studies about Asia Pacific region, participating in Multicultural events
such as Thai Week, and Indonesian Week not only interests me, but also will give me the chance to
understand more about the Asian culture. Besides, since I am partial to performing, singing, and
dancing at high school, attending the Latin American African Dance Club, and the Chorus Club is
a chance I will take to develop my hobbies, and relieve stress after class.
After graduating from APU, I want to stay in Japan, and work for the Vietnam Television Channel
Station located in Japan. This will enable me not only to contribute to my country by updating news
about the Vietnamese living in Japan, but also to know more about the Japanese culture, and meet
and interview many special Japanese

Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower is a puddle iron lattice tower located on the Champ de Marsin Paris. Built in
1889, it has become both a global cultural icon of France and one of the most recognizable
structures in the world. The tower is the tallest building in Paris and the most visited paid
monument in the world; millions of people ascend it every year. Named after its designer, engineer
Gustave Eiffel, the tower was built as the entrance arch to the 1889 World s Fair.
The tower stands 324 metres tall, about the same height as an 81 storey building. During its
construction, the Eiffel Towersurpassed theWashington Monument to assume the title of the tallest
man made structure in the world, a title it held for 41 years, until the Chrysler Building in ... Show

The tower was much criticized by the public when it was built, with many calling it an eyesore.
Newspapers of the day were filled with angry letters from the arts community of Paris. The pig
iron structure of the Eiffel Tower weighs 7,300 tones, while the entire structure, including non
metal components, is approximately 10,000 tones. As a demonstration of the economy of design,
if the 7,300 tones of the metal structure were melted down it would fill the 125 metre square base
to a depth of only 6 cm, assuming the density of the metal to be 7.8 tones per cubic meter.
Depending on the ambient temperature, the top of the tower may shift away from the sun by up to
18 cm because of thermal expansion of the metal on the side facing the sun.
Maintenance of the tower includes applying 50 to 60 tones of paint every seven years to protect
it from rust. The height of the Eiffel Tower varies by 15 cm due to temperature. In order to
maintain a uniform appearance to an observer on the ground, three separate colors of paint are
used on the tower, with the darkest on the bottom and the lightest at the top. On occasion the color
of the paint is changed; the tower is currently painted a shade of bronze. On the first floor there are
interactive consoles hosting a poll for the color to use for a future session of painting. The only non
structural elements are the four decorative grillwork arches, added in Stephen Sauvestre s sketches,

Techniques Used For Classify The Models Of Church Planting
Techniques used to categorize the models of church planting Things that lay influence on various
models used in planting of churches include: one is denominational ecclesiology, two is if a
mission agency or church is carrying out the actual planting, three is the planting body ethos, four is
the spiritual and theological planting body outlook, five being the direct correlation of factors to
the context which includes a community/area sociological understanding of where the church is to
be planted and six is the planting team size. The terminology employed in describing the different
planting models are divergent and a lot of terms are gotten from the obstetrics or horticulture world,
but others are derived from the military, nautical and astronomical worlds (Murray, Laying
Foundations, 260). Christine groups planting models in terms of the body performing the
sponsoring say the agency, church or any other body (Robinson and Christine, Planting tomorrow s
Churches Today, 126). Murray defines four historical church planting categories: one is the
replacement planting where it is conducted in places where the church is being closed, two is the
pioneer planting which is done in places where there are no Christian witnesses, three is the
saturation planting that mainly concerns with ensuring that each group of people that is
identifiable has unlimited church access which has relevance on a contextual basis, and the fourth
and last one is the sectarian planting that ensures an

Casablanc An Analysis Of The Movie Casablanca
Casablanca, a city home to over 3 million people located in the country of Morocco in Africa, but it
would seem that most people in America when they hear Casablanca they think of the 1942 classic
movie; Casablanca. Rather remarkable when you think about it. Anyways, onward to the film;
Casablanca.
The renowned classic romance/drama Casablanca (1942), is nearly always seen on top ten lists of
films. It is a expertly told tale of two men jockeying for the same woman s love in what some
may call a love triangle . Casablanca is a story of both political and romantic espionage and is set
in the time of war between democracy and totalitarianism. Speaking of the time period, Casablanca
premiered in 1942, but was not released nationally until 1943. The black and white film is
comprised of a cast of very memorable characters, supposedly actors and actresses from 34
different nationalities were included in it s cast. Throughout the film, there are some very
memorable lines of dialogue, in fact Casablanca is the most quoted movie according to the
American Film Institute s list of it s top 100 movie quotations, it had six quotations out of the list of
100. Likewise, Humphrey Bogart was the most quoted actor of all time with five quotations in the
top 100, four of which were from Casablanca. Some examples of quotes include; Here s lookin at

Usually when we think of incest we see it as something to frown upon but in this book it seems
as if it nothing to be concerned about. When reading these parts that involve incest i just try to
read on and treat it like other text and try not to be weirded out by it. On the same page the odd
relationship between ruth and her dad become way more explicit. At sixteen, she still insisted on
having him come to her at night sit on her bed, exchange pleasantries, and plant a kiss on her
lips . Just like the previous quote i skimmed through it quickly and when i went back to ready it i
just said woah. I couldn t really believe how this relation would even go this far and why this stuff
would even be included. This made me wonder why would the author include this type of incestual
reationships in her book? Is it to make the story way more interesting. Another thing to add is
although i am mainly focusing on the incestual relationship you could see this under the gender
/feminist lens and see how the daughter is being taking advantage of in a young age as she doesn t
seem to really understand the type of relationship she has with her own

Divergent Dystopia Essay
Divergent Dystopia vs. modern day society
Many of us focus on trying to see the positive side of things, but the truth is that sometimes we
need to open our eyes, and notice the negative activities sourrounding our world. Once we
comprehende what is negativetely affecting our world, then we should find a way to fix it, and
shape the world. Finally, after we have done all of that, then maybe we can have a better world,
but to have a utopian society just seems way out of our reach. A dystopian society, just like the one
in the novel divergent, definetely is different from our modern day society, but our society dosent
neceseraly stay behind On the novel divergent, the society seems out of control, it feel like it is a
place were you cant be feeling safe for a second. In the novel, the euridite faction had been long
time rivals with abnegation, so they had a sinister plan to end with abnigation once and for all.
Consequently, what the euridite did, was that they teamed up with the leaders of dauntless Eric and

As a matter of fact, our society also unfortuantely relates alot to this dystopian novel. Arguably,
there is no doubt that in our society although, it is illegal to commit any sort of crime of harming
other people, but nontheless people still do it, many mindless human beings out there with
knowledge that harming someone is a crime, yet they still do it. similarly, to the novel divergent,
in our modern day society there is often alot of bribeing, and manipulation between people,
including the goverment at times. Overall, the point is that even though a setting just like the one
in the dystopian novel divergent isnt as harsh and extreme as our modern day society, if we open
our eyes and just look for a moment we would realize how similar these two society can

The Greed of Music Industry Executives and Declining...
The Greed of Music Industry Executives and Declining Record Sales
The music recording industry is in trouble. For several years now, sales of new and popular music
have steadily declined and show no sign of changing. The record companies are quick to blame the
growing popularity of the Internet; music is being traded in a digital form online, often
anonymously, with the use of file sharing programs such as Morpheus, KaZaA, and Imesh, to name
a few. The RIAA (Recording Industry Associationof America) succeeded in disbanding the pioneer
Internet file sharing program, Napster, but is facing confrontation with similar programs that are

Even sales figures for singles are down. Sales are off by 63.9%...6.7 million units were sold in the
first six months of 2002 vs. 18.6 million unites in the same period in 2001 (Garrity).
Not only are the companies themselves facing hard times, but the retail stores that sell music are
also suffering their own losses. Musicland Stores, the largest music retailer in the U.S. continues
to report losses and declining sales...For the third quarter, the Minnetonka, Minn. based company
reports a new loss of $16.1 million, compared with a loss last year of $144.6 million (Jeffrey).
The company was even forced to close some of its stores. At quarter s end, Musicland operated
1476 stores...During the quarter, the company closed the following: Nine Sam Goody
/Musiclands, two Media plays, one On Cud, and on U.K. store (Jeffrey). This problem hits home
in Vermillion, South Dakota, where the local On Cue store, the only place to buy entertainment
products like CDs and audiocassettes, was forced to close because of insufficient revenues.
Inhabitants of Vermillion are now forced to travel anywhere from 30 to 60 miles away to purchase
music offline. While this town obviously reflects a very small percentage of consumers, the lack of
immediately available music products certainly will not help the declining record sales.

Violence And Violence
Violence has always been a part of human experience. In a world where there is a competition to
supersede others in every respect, violence is a powerful weapon of dominance and subjugation.
Every year millions of people are victims of self inflicted, interpersonal or collective violence
which leads to loss of lives or physical injuries and serious psychological effects. Considering the
magnitude of the negative physical and psychological effects that violencehas on its victims,
violence has today come to be regarded as a public health issue or social pathology which if left
untreated can take the form of an epidemic and cause wide scale destruction of public health.
With the development of the electronic and satellite media, certain forms of violence like war,
terrorism, riots, police violence and civil unrest today are visible to the audience whereas there
are other types of violence which are not visible to everybody owing to the perpetrators of
violence being invisible and backdrop of violence being home or office or social and even
medical institutions which are meant for taking care of the needy, helpless and sick people.
Whether visible or invisible, violence in any form is detrimental to public health and a
comprehensive understanding of the concept of violence should begin with a definition of the
word violence . Violence as defined by the World Health Organization in the WRVH is, The

Noonan Syndrome Is Agenetic Birth Defect That Results In
Noonan syndrome is a genetic birth defect that results in many physical deformities and possible

females. This paper will focus solely on Noonan Syndrome, which affects 1 in approximately 2,000
people. Complications include but are not limited to: short stature, widely spaced eyes, some form
of heart disease, and stunted puberty or infertility. Noonan syndrome is a biochemical disorder that
occurs before a person is born and is formed through the genetic makeup of the parents that result in

These causes specifically are completely biochemical, occurring within the chemical processes that
develop the fetus. A single genedefect goes hand in hand with inheritance. All genes are inherited
therefore so are bad genes; a single gene defect is that, a gene for a disease is inherited and
manifests as a birth defect. Then, there s chromosomal abnormalities. Chromosomes are those
structures within our cells that contain genes. If an abnormality occurs (such as a replacement, of
one piece of the gene for another) this will also results in a birth defect within the fetus.
Noonan Syndrome is the result of a chromosomal abnormality. This specific type of abnormality
can only be detected by deep molecular testing of the parents and the offspring who has been
affected by Noonan syndrome. Detection then becomes a tricky process as the signs and
symptoms of the defect can be misdiagnosed as their individual appearances. A short stature can
be seen as just a physical abnormality, the same for eye spacing and other physically noticeable
attributes. The heart diseases can be seen as completely separate problems as well. For this reason
cases of Noonan syndrome can persist into a person s adult life completely undiagnosed. Detection
therefore relies on the parents being genetically tested before ever conceiving.
Noonan syndrome through inheritance is of an autosomal dominant pattern. That

Suzanne Collins
My favorite author has to be Suzanne Collins. Suzanne was born on August 10, 1962 and is the
youngest of 4 children. In her family history was very important, especially with their father.
Their father would tell his children about the war when he was deployed in Vietnam. She feels it
is important for children to learn history even though it may be gruesome but, it was all real and
it happened. Suzanne graduated college at Indiana University, in 1985 as a double major in
theater and telecommunications. She then went on to earn a master s degree in dramatic
writing from New York University. After all of these she started writing for many children
television shows. Many of these were for Nickelodeon, she also recently was a freelancer for the

Analysis Of The Film The Wild County
The Wild County is a modern Spaghetti Western film set to be released on March 2018. I will be
the director of the film, and will mainly take care of the visual aspect of the film. The film s
visual element takes inspiration from one of Sergio Leone s prominent film Once Upon a Time in
the West (1968). The first scene I will direct in the film is Scene IV. The spotting for the film will
occur on November 24th, 2016. The first spotting session will mainly focus on arranging the music
with the footage taken for Scene IV. The meeting will be attended by the film composer Richard

The plot of the film is about Bruce West, a young cowboy who travels to Cape Town, Lousiana
in order to seek redemption for the death of his family back in Mississippi. Bruce West s family
are murdered by the evil Samuel Johnson and his crew called the Red Bandits. The Red Bandits
plan to infiltrate Cape Town by robbing the town of it s fortune and kidnapping mayor Smith as
hostage. In order to stop the Red Bandits, Bruce West creates a group called The Rebellion to fight
against the Red Bandits and save Cape Town from chaos.
Scene IV will have no source music, meaning no music will be heard by both the audience and

Art Therapy History
Six months ago a new record was made for the most expensive work of art sold at an auction. A
painting crafted by Pablo Picasso was sold in New York City for almost 180 million dollars. This
masterpiece was crafted by an artistic genius that has impacted almost every field of art that we
currently practice. He famously said, Art washes from the soul the dust of everyday life
(Voorhies, 2015). If this is true, and art does have an impact on our very soul, it is essential for us
to educate ourselves on the topic that this paper will be focusing on, which is Art Therapy. Using
scholarly sources this paper will discuss how to integrating art therapy into the Christian faith,

From the 1940 s to the 1960 s this form of therapy grew immesnly in the United States. In the
1960 s art therapy was an idea whose time had come (Junge, 2010). All the hype did not last long.
In the 1970 s a split between the once unified body of art therapists was seen. Two lines of
thinking came about. The first was art as therapy and the second was art as psychotherapy. The first
focuses on the results during the actual process, while the second focuses on the knowledge
learned from the process. This split still continues and can even be seen in the original definition
given by the American Association of Art Therapy. Now that a definition and background of art
therapy has been given, deeper questions can be asked, such as, Is art therapy effective? Art
therapy is hard topic to find direct research on, however art therapy deals primarily with the
impact that images have on us. This is a main idea that is agreed upon by almost all art therapists,
and is a topic that is widely researched. The first study will deal directly with images and a person

Technology Is The Weapon Of Choice
Since the beginning of time, mankind has been at war with himself for every imaginable reason.
In 2700 BC Mesopotamia, the armies of Sumer and Elam went to war. During this first recorded
conflict, the bow was the weapon of choice. Over the next 4,700 years, the character of war has
changed dramatically with the introduction of new technologies such as iron, steel, and gunpowder.
Today the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) is the weapon
of choice. For the U.S. military, the use
of UAV technology accelerated in the 1990 s and continued through the past 14 years of sustained
conflict. In 2002, the United States had 167 UAVs and over 7,000 just 10 years later. Although
UAVs do not require a human in the cockpit, they are still controlled by a human who makes flight
and targeting decisions. However, technology is leading developers to push the envelope and
develop weapon systems that have the ability to act without human input or intervention, in all
domains of warfare, which like the airplane in WWI, could have dramatic implications for the
character of future wars.
In 2010, the Department of Defense said that autonomy was the single greatest theme for advancing
modern unmanned systems. General Robert Cone, Director of the U.S. Army s Training and
Doctrine Command, stated, the Army is evaluating the possibility of replacing twenty five percent
of manpower in Brigade Combat Teams (BCTs) with robotics and unmanned systems. Over 30

The Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde
Among the words used to describe the elitist Victorians, hypocrites may very well be the most
popular. This supposed generation of Do Gooders, with their heightened sense of morality,
repressed sexuality and increased piety, were actually far from perfect. They had an exceptional
list of standards by which they claimed to dutifully abide, but more often than not fell short of.
The Victorians were, in the words of literary critic Walter Houghton, brilliant actors able to
[conceal] or [suppress] their true convictions and their natural tastes (146). The matter of Victorian
hypocrisy, as it has come to be known, has been scrutinized by a plethora of critics and authors
alike. However, the moral façade that has come to be associated with the Victorian erawas perhaps
first criticized in Robert Louis Stevensons Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Apart from
being an exceptional Gothic work, Stevenson s novellais an excellent critique of the hypocrisy that
dominated the Victorian era. In his novella, Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Robert
Louis Stevenson uses the characters of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde to expose the double standards
and moral pretensions that governed Victorian society. Dr. Jekyll, the protagonist in Stevenson s
Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, is the ultimate embodiment of the standards of morality
by which the upper class Victorians claimed to abide. In the novella, Dr. Jekyll is a righteous,

The purpose of this study was to compare the muscle activity of three upper limb muscles (forearm,
biceps, and triceps) during back holding movement with three kilogram weight of dumbbell. The
results of studies provide evidence that performing shoulder flexion in the back holding activity
produces significantly greater muscleactivity in the biceps muscle. This is because, biceps muscle
contains more tissue compare to another two muscle (forearm and triceps). Besides, the size of
biceps muscle greater than forearm and triceps muscle. So, that is the reason for the greatest

Farmers must select activities that will result in marketable, profitable goods, with low production
costs and about which there is ample knowledge in the district.
One challenge for NAADS is that it spreads very slowly. It does not target whole villages, only
groups of people, and then only a few members of a group get assistance initially, while other
members wait sometimes for a up to a year before getting any much needed support.
When it began, the service was only offered to 24 sub counties in six districts. It has since spread
to all 79 operational districts, but is still only reaching a few farmers in a few sub counties within
them, which means many farmers are not served.
A 2007 study by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) found that while
NAADS had promoted the use of improved production technologies and high yielding crop
varieties, only a few farmers were using them even within sub counties where there service was
operating. As a result there was no difference in yield growth between NAADS sub counties and
those without its assistance.
In early 2009, a report by Uganda s auditor general concluded that 63% of money allocated to
NAADS activities was wasted because farmers disliked classroom style training given by
contracted service providers. The Ugandan president, Yoweri Museveni, publicly condemned this
approach to training as

Essay on Gender Stereotypes in the Merchant of Venice
Themes in the Merchant of Venice
Gender stereotypes are not a modern notion and as such expectations and limitations have always
existed for both men and women. Fortunately women, who have formerly beared great burdens of
discrimination, now have very liberated roles in society as a result of slowly shifting attitudes and
values. Shakespeare was integral in challenging the subservient role expected of women in the 16th
century. Throughout the play, The Merchant of Venice, women are expressed as powerful
characters who behave, speak and live in a way that breaks away from the conformist role of
females during the 16th century. Therefore, the submissive stereotype expected of women in
Shakespearean time is confronted and defied through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

stereotype of women as possessions in Elizabethan time.
The characterisation of Jessica further challenges the role and expectations for women in the
16th century. Jessica is initially bound to her Jewish father, but later elopes with her lover,
Lorenzo, defying the most prominent male in her life to live by her own free will; definitely
not a common practice of her time. Jessica s courage and strength which are exemplified through
her actions and are also expressed in the quote; I am a daughter to his blood; I am not to his
manners (Act 2, Scene3, 18 19). When Jessica says this as she betrays her father to secretly
marry Lorenzo, it is clear that she possesses a strong sense of defiance and strength against this
dominant male, showing that she is free to be her own person and is not going to let her life be
run by her father. This brave and controversial act by a young girl is in stark contrast to the
expectations of 16th century society, revealing a hint of disrespect in the character of Jessica that
is admired as a sign of her power. Overall, the actions of Jessica exemplify Shakespeare s
construction of women as powerful characters who

The Little Chinese Seamstress Analysis
The Little Chinese Seamstress is a story told through the eyes of a young narrator living in
Communist China. Throughout this story the character constantly evolves in his mannerisms and
his train of thought. His relationship with his best friend, Lou, constantly changes as well as Lou
begins to hang out with the rural seamstress. One particular passage, beginning at 123 and ending
through the end of 125. In this passage, the narrator has a dream about the Little Seamstress
tumbling over a cliff side. The dream has deeper meaning and speaks volumes on the narrator s
jealousy, as well as fear, of Lou and the Little Seamstresses relationship.
As the passage begins, the narrator has a dream incorporating the Seamstress, himself and Lou. In
this first section of the passage, the narrator is frightened by the Seamstress as her relationship
with Lou progresses, and that the narrator finds the Seamstress to be soothing. The first way this
passage portrays this is by the use of shifting diction. As the dream begins, the narrator s perception
of the girl shifts several times before cementing on the Little Seamstress. This diction implies the
narrator s true feelings for the Seamstress. It does this by the narrator recognizing the girls before it
focusing on the Seamstress. Another way the narrator s fears and feelings for the Seamstress is
seen through the details about the pig. At the beginning of the passage when the narrator wakes up
from the dream he was soothed

The Greenhouse Effect On The World
Introduction
Most people around the world do not fully understand the meaning of the greenhouse effect, or the
affects the greenhouse effect has on the world. In fact, many believe that the greenhouse effect is
simply contributes to global warming, and that it has no real value to the earth. But what many are
not aware of it that the greenhouse effect is the planet s natural way of obtaining a specific
temperature in which living organisms can survive. Many people are not aware of the
consequences that our way of life has on the planet, and soon, with the help of global warming, we
will all understand.
Greenhouse gasses There are three main greenhouse gases that play a large role in keeping our
planet at a stable temperature; carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. Other gases produced
are troposheric ozone, CFC 12, HCFC 22, and sulfur hexafluoride. The greenhouse effect used to
have no legitimate harm on earth, but, humans have been the reason for the increase in these
greenhouse gases, therefore creating what we know today as; global warming. Without these
greenhouse gases, the earth would be so incredibly cold that no living entity could survive.
Importance of the Greenhouse Effect Because the greenhouse effect is usually only discussed in the
context of global warming, this natural process is neglected to be appreciated for its vital role in
the planet. Without having the greenhouse effect, there would be no weather on Earth. All of the
greenhouse gases

The literary Trope of a Superfluous Man in Russian...
Russian literature was very much influenced by the literary trope known as the superfluous man.
This trope was ideal for writers to describe the shortcomings of Russian high class society. There
has been a witnessed general consistency when dealing with the superfluous man such as the
exhibition of cynicism and existential angst, while indulging in vices such as affairs, gambling and
duelling. These individuals are typically from noble birth yet refused to fit into society and
disregard the societal norms. This trend can be witnessed through many examples such as
Alexander Pushkins Eugene Onegin and Diary of a Superfluous Man by Ivan Turgenev. The
characters described by these authors reflects the lifestyles of such a man, and... Show more content

Euthanasia Should Be Allowed To Die Research Paper
To have the right to be assisted to die or to not have the right to be assisted to die, that is the
question. An individual can have their lives turn upside down with merely a sentence being told
to them. With the countless procedures performed, we are lament to say, there is no cure. Just
with fourteen words being said, all hope is lost. What is the point of living on if all that is being
felt is pure utter pain? These individuals that have already been told they have a terminal illness
should be given their rights to end their lives. Being exempt from pure excruciating and unbearable
pain is immoral; having said that, doctors should allow their patients to commit assisted suicide.
Differentiating between euthanasia and assisted suicide is essential when discussing the right to die.
When a third party has performed the last act in the patient s death, euthanasia has occurred. When
a lethal injection is presented to the patient and the patient decides to insert it into their veins,
assisted suicide has been partaken. The patient should have a right to decide whether or not they
would like to continue living or perish. The doctor should not be the one in control when
advocating the decision their patient would like to commit. Euthanasia makes the doctor the
primary source to what should happen with their patient. Assisted suicide should be promoted
instead of Euthanasia due to the fact that the patient overall decides their final fate.

This would be the easiest way for 3M to use the Greptile Technology; 3M has made a name for
themselves by being innovative using their technology to create out of box products. So my
suggestion for using the Greptile Technology within the Sports and Leisure market would be to
create a new and lighter running shoe that is used on indoor and outdoor tracks for track
competitions. As a former track athlete one of the biggest concerns of track athletes is the traction
that we have on the bottom of our shoes on outdoor tracks especially during the summer track
season.
The Greptile Technology if modified correctly could provide a superior traction when running
on the track and would not wear down as easily as track shoes that are on the market. Using the
technology in a modified state would allow 3M to enter into another submarket of the Sports and
Leisure market and still keep in tack their record of diversified technology and innovation. I am
sure if there were to use the technology for a lighter track shoe with superior traction would be
able to enter into the running shoe market which is estimated to be a $13 billion per year industry.
In my estimation 3M would be able to at least capture a minimum 10% market share if the
technology is superior to what is being offered in the market.
It would be not consist with 3M s business practice to just use this technology in 3M s Sports and

day one, I was introduced to all sort of tasks that needed to be completed and the deadlines by
which completion was required. After my manager instructed me how to do my tasks once. I
was given the opportunity to work by myself on the tasks at hand. The role has me working
alongside the European Commercial and Bids Pricing (C BP) team in identifying trends on the
pricing behaviour in certain product segments and market condition across Europe. The report

Europe to benchmark their decisions. This will allow me to develop my excel skills by improve

Blue Band Marching Band
Playing with the Blue Band Marching Band s Penn State Trip Oley Pride rings fiercely as twelve
bands compete to stand out, and to impress Penn State s Blue Band with their abilities.
On the ****** of September, the Oley Valley High School band had the privilege to be included in
the Penn State Band Jam something only twelve bands out of the state have the ability to do. The
night was filled with an assortment of playing, watching the game, and eating overly expensive
stadium food.
Around # of students came to play, one of them being Carter Kucier, the only mellophone in our

Caroline Kennedy Outline
Caroline Kennedy, daughter of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, said of her mother, I think my
mother made it clear you have to live life by your own terms and you have to not worry about
what other people think and have the courage to do the unexpected (Caroline Kennedy quotes,
page 1). Jacqueline, known as Jackie, is one of the most well known women of the 1900 s.
Showcasing her strong will and grace from an early age, she inspired many people while serving
as First Lady and after. While Jackie Kennedy on the surface seemed to live a charmed life as a
prominent, beautiful woman, she endured the death of her son, the tragic death of her husband
President John F. Kennedy, and the death of her second husband Ari Onassis. Jacqueline Lee

resumed her career in the writing profession, but as an editor, first at Viking Press, then at

go to Washington to urge Congress to pass landmark legislation and she also lobbied legislators
in Albany, New York, to prevent private organizations from altering or destroying their property
if it was deemed historical architecture. She was very much involved in many organizations, such
as the Literary Lions of the New York Public Library, the American Ballet Theater at Lincoln

Hcp Essay
Your views with respect to the legal rights of HCPs during times of crisis.
Our views concerning the legal rights of HCPs during times of crisis align with the general
recommendations published since the last SARS crisis in Ontario. The SARS crisis brought
several legal and ethical debates to the public place. The most popular topics related to the legal
rights of HCPs during times of crisis surround were:
The HCPs Duty to care vs. HCPs individual rights and personal autonomy to use some discretion in
determining where, how, and when they will practice medicine. (CMA, 2008);
The right to refuse or to stop work where health or safety in danger, HCPs are excluded Part V
Occupational Health and Safety Act (Ontario, 2016).

Another concern is about the public responsibility to ensure HCPs safe work environment.
Although, the HCPs are excluded from the OHSA, the employers still have the obligation to ensure
the health and safety of its employees. Because crisis, are exceptional situation, health organizations
should prepare its resources to assure the HCPs about the safeguard of their health and their family
members when on duty in high risk situation (Ruderman, et al., 2006).
Also, HCPs, should not fear more risks from a crisis, such as undue workload, financial burden, up
to employment dismissal (Upshur et al., 2005).
,In 2016, the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MoHLTC) has put in place the Building a
Ready and Resilient Health System Plan. The MoHLTC s plan is supposed to reinforce the
OHSA; the rights and obligations of all parties in the workplace to ensure health and safety of the
HCPs. Based on this plan, we can assume that some uncertainty about the risk for HCPs will
decrease to fulfil their duty to care in crisis, because of the OHSA s obligations for:
Administrative controls. Written procedures that change work processes to protect against
infectious agent. (MoHLTC, 2016);

The Mortality Rate Of Sex Workers Essay
Regarding the mortality rate of sex workers, One study found that workplace murder risk is 51
times greater [for prostitutes] than for the next most dangerous profession which is operating a
liquor store (Dir. J. K. Wasson and J. Wells). Because prostitution is ultimately seen as a consensual
profession, some may interpret this information with indifference, believing that the sex workers
were willing participants. More often than not, however, sex workers are being coerced into the
industry by some form of force; leading them to be exploited for physical and economic gain. In
order to convince someone that the prostitutionindustry influences the victimization of women, I
would need to counteract the notions endowed onto us by society that lead people to believe that
prostitution is a fair system. Ethnomethodology, Symbolic interaction, and conflict theory have
contributed to the the false impression of sex workers endorsed by the mainstream.
Ethnomethodology is the study of everyday actions of people as an expression of their reality.
Every reality contains five features that describe how one s perspective is maintained and
occasionally transformed. In order to change the reality of people who believe that sex workers are
independently engaging in prostitution, I would need to address the five features of reality. The
first feature, reflexivity, states that reality is maintained by the process of absorbing interactions
and bending them to fit one s incorrigible

People often expect a rigorous antibiotic treatment with some of the smallest ailments that will often
pass through with the help of the human body s immune system. However, a study conducted in
Sweden was able to investigate the public s willingness to work with doctors to mitigate antibiotic
resistance. The results from the study have proved to be quite optimistic in a population size of
1,025 participants. Numerous of these people who trusted their doctor and were adequately
educated on antibiotic resistance had been willing to put off a prescription of antibiotics in a
range of 1 5 days in order to create less of a need for them. When the public understands what
weight antibiotics carry when they are used and when their is an established trust between them and
medical professionals, less antibiotics will be consumed as demonstrated by this study (Björn 249

impotence of antibiotics will be made. When people are actually prescribed antibiotics, they must
follow every instruction given to them by their physician. This includes completing the entire

Wisdom In Plato s Apology
Ignorance isn t something that someone inherits from the moment they are born. Humans do not
enter the world with the wisdom to make the correct choices in life, but they do gain the ability to
acquire wisdom through teaching, learning and learning from their mistakes. This lack of wisdom,
this inherent ignorance is exactly why there has been a struggle since the beginning of man.
According to Plato, this is the best thing for human life is wisdom. Plato s Socratesindicates that
wisdom is the acknowledgement of ignorance. This statement may be hard to prove as true. In the
Apology, Socrates says that What is probable, gentlemen, is the fact that the god is wise and that

Socrates look like he is overshadowing his own ignorance as some kind of wisdom . Socrates actual
quote indicates that he knew when others were ignorant, but merely thought they were
knowledgeable. He simply never made the mistakes of either by overestimating his extremely
limited knowledge of or really underestimating his actual knowledge. That made him a lifelong
learner and wiser than those who thought they knew what they did not know. This goes back to the
argument that Plato makes that taking a risk with your wisdom whether it s ignorant or not is
worth more than sitting there and basically looking stupid. In comparison of today s culture would
it make any sense the youth holds the majority of ignorance more than past generation I would bet
to say that Plato would agree with this statement. Most of the youth are preoccupied by social
media and electronic devices that they never have the time anymore to look up from their phone
and hold a full conversation. The toxic combination of government lacking public education,
extremely unprepared curriculum to unmotivated and unambitious student have produced a
generation of young people ignorant of the fundamental parts of life. They have been taught to feel
rather than think critically. It draws back to my point that when you think you know something that

Analyzing Film Trailers and Film Posters Essays
Analyzing Film Trailers and Film Posters
Film posters come in a wide range of styles. Most have appealing pictures or slogans that appeal to
a particular audience and some just try to appeal to everyone. They all have something in common.
Anchorage and eye catching devices, some even have alliteration. You can find them almost
everywhere like cinemas, town centres, bus shelters, on the sides of busses, magazines and on the
internet. They are all trying to do one thing, persuade you to spend money on their film.
I am going to describe and explain what makes a good film poster and then I shall give an example.
I am going to look at the general make up of film posters.
Usually a film ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a popular name is used here people are likely to think that the film is good. Below this is the
name of the film being advertised in a font and colour that contrasts and stands out from the
background. The name of the film has to stand out from a distance so there is no mistaking the
name of the film and it is recognisable when going to buy the film or see it at a cinema.
At the bottom of the poster in a small print text is the credits of the film. No one can see this
section of the poster from a distance and nobody really bothers to read it. These are here for
copyright purposes and so that if people wanted they could find out who the director, writer and
producer of the film is.
At the bottom or in the left hand corner of the poster is the release date of the film being advertised.
The poster is usually in colours that stand out from the competition without loosing the theme of
the film. E.g. A comedy would not be in dark black colours. The writing on the poster has to stand
out in a font and colour that will attract people s attention. It must be easy to read.
I am now going to look at the above issues on a film poster advertising

The Country Of Lagos Nigeria
The video Lagos/Koolhas does a great job of portraying the country of Lagos Nigeria which is a
rapidly expanding city with very few resources to actually handle this rapid growth. Much like in
other undeveloped countries these rapid development is resulting in many individuals living in
slum conditions with few options for work. The difference between Lagos and other developing
cities is Lagos is now considered a Mega cityan as of 2014 has a population of 24 million people,
making it the largest city in Africa (Lagos Population 2016). With the population again set to
double by 2050 the question that arises is it possible for Lagos to become a sustainable mega city,
or will this rapid developmentcontinue to be a problem for years to come?
The video shown in class Lagos/Koolhas really brings to light a major problem that is affecting
the majority of the population. With the cities rapid development a majority of the population is
forced to live in some of the worst slums that been highlighted in our course. These people are
doing anything to survive, mostly working in the informal sector, selling whatever they can. Much
like many other growing cities in developing countries a majority of Lagos has been developed
with very little planning, which leads to the development of the slums that a majority of
individuals are living in. These slums are built with whatever material is available at the time, and
not suitable for humans to live in. They are crowded, dirty and unlike

Gothic Fiction And Traditional Fairytales
Gothic fiction is a product of human curiosity, fascination and fear. This genre of literature
represents human fears in a more symbolic and allegorical way, allowing readers to address their
phobias in a safe frame. Gothic fiction is mistakenly associated with adult fiction due to the
common belief that the gruesome events described in this mode of literature are inappropriate for
children. Nevertheless, kids are the ones who have the biggest questions and fears. Gothic fiction,
with its grotesque creatures and spooky places, turns kid fears into fictional characters that are
defeated by the forces of good. This essay examines the connection between Gothic fictionand
traditional fairytales, while it discusses how Gothic stories help children... Show more content on

Of course, these elements do not appear as sinister as in adult Gothic fiction, but the basis is the
same. A proof for their presence is Karen Coats observation. As Coats puts it, traditional Gothic
stories for adults provide fairytale themes and motifs with an evil tone (78). If there were not any
similarities between these two genres of literature, traditional adult Gothic would not use fairytales
as a basis. Furthermore, considering that Charles Perrault s Little Red Riding Hood is a splendid
example of traditional fairytales, it is worth observing if Gothic elements can be traced in it. Little
Red Riding Hood includes characteristics that resemble Gothic fiction s characteristics as
presented by David Punter; an emphasis on portraying the terrifying, a common insistence on
archaic settings, a prominent use of the supernatural... (cited in Roberts 21). Firstly, the setting is
terrifying; a young girl alone in the woods. Secondly, the use of supernatural is profound; the wolf
can speak and think like humans. According to Coats, this kind of elements in classic fairytales,
like creepy settings, forbidden wishes and evil villains, are associated with children s dangerous
impulses and aggressions (78). The role of fairytales is to deal with these unwanted urges

CMPD Explorer Program Analysis
Last year December 2014 I volunteered with the CMPD Explorers and the Salvation Army to
provide gifts for children and their families all over the city of Charlotte, NC. The CMPD
Explorer program is a program that is for high school students in the Charlotte who want to be
police officers when they grow up or work with some type of law enforcement to interact with real
police officers. In the program we practice real life scenarios that can happen all the time, go on
trips, and volunteer in the community doing community service. I like the program because with
community service you can help out families who cannot afford Christmas. Every Christmas the
CMPD Explorers partner with the Salvation Army to provide Christmas for hundreds of families
and thousands of children all over the city of Charlotte. Until this experience, I never saw a
person who could not afford to provide gifts for their children for Christmas. I knew about poverty

Native American Population Expansion
The events of the expansion of British America, the decline of the Native American population in
the east, and the transition from indentured servitude to race based servitude in the period of
1660 1700 shared a close relationship with one another (Schultz, 2013). First, the creation of
proprietary colonies allowed their ruler to establish governments as they wished, as long as their
laws aligned with those of England. This freedom to rule a colony was extremely attractive
because if ruled successfully, the ruler or proprietors of that colony had an opportunity to become
wealthy. Furthermore, African slaves discovered that rice could be easily grown in areas where it
was thought that there were little agriculture benefits. Next, William Penn promoted a colony
which encompassed religious freedom and easy access to land. Penn recruited people from Europe
to inhabit his colony, and what we now know today as Pennsylvania, grew exponentially.... Show

There were four main reasons why the Native Americans and the British colonists could not live
harmoniously. First, the English colonists could not help themselves when it came to encroaching
on the Indian s land. Next, vast differences in cultures lead to problematic disagreements. Then,
differences in worship and religion created misunderstanding between the two groups. Finally, the
most significant reason was alliances made between the colonies. These alliances formed one
common enemy as the colonists no longer feuded with one another because England was becoming
the dominating force of the New World. Wars and rebellions followed, eventually pushing the
Native Americans farther inland toward the

The Culture Of The Italian Culture
The Description The cultural group I decided to gain more insight on through this experience was
the Italian culture. Explain history and describe! The immersion experiences in which I participated
were great opportunities to learn about the culture in more depth. The first experience I was able to
attend was on June 13, 2015. In downtown Indianapolis Indiana, I had the opportunity to attend the
Italian Culture Festival. Organized each year by the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, this festival was
full of music, cultural food, and I was lucky enough to experience a traditional Italian religious
procession and Mass(Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 2015). The festival was packed with people
from the city and from the Italian culture. I had never experienced a festival such as the one held
in Indianapolis. Being from the east coast and not of the Italian culture, the festival was a
refreshing yet, uncomfortable experience at times. I observed a traditional dance, the tarantella
and those around the area all seemed to know most of the steps or the words to some of the
songs in the set they played. The locals tried to get me to dance along but, I could not keep up
with them on the fly. The tarantella is one of the most famous of Italian dances and performers
dance quickly to an upbeat song (Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 2015). It is said that the
performers sweat out the poison of a deadly tarantula and the dance could last for hours and could
be religious in nature to some.

The Transition Between High School And College
All children become an adult at some point in their lives. The transition between high school and
college exemplifies this transition. Yet few of these students feel prepared for the challenge that is
adult life. After living with their parents for 17 18 years, the move away from home and getting
saddled with a plethora of responsibilities can be jolting. William Allen has many graduation
requirements, but an Independent Living class is not one of them. This needs to change. High
Schoolought to prepare students for the everyday aspect of collegeand life after school, not just the
academic aspect of college. The graduation requirements of the AllentownSchool district include 4
years of English, 3 years of math and science, and 2 years of foreign language (PROGRAM OF
STUDIES 2015 2016 William Allen High School Louis E. Dieruff High School, 7). It does not
include any sort of class designed to help students learn important life techniques. School is
designed to prepare us for college and the difficult transition between high school and college.
But the way our high school curriculum is designed it only prepares us for the academic aspect
of college, and without regard to people who may choose to take a gap year or not go to college.
When going to college, students may worry about the dorms. They must adjust to college lifestyle
and making new friends. The additional stress of being suddenly ladled with a plethora of
responsibilities on top of this stress can be daunting.

  • 3. Climate Change In Vancouver Essay The weather of the 3 cities over the past four days shows that Vancouver has the highest temps which are: 9В°C, 7В°C, 4В°C, and 8В°C, there were 4 days with no precipitation. Vancouver has such warm temperatures because it has the Pacific Ocean nearby that pushes cold air and water heats slow, and the lack of precipitation is caused by the fact that the its too coldfor water vapor to appear but no too cold for snow. Toronto has the second warmest temperatures which are: 8.6В°C, 16В°C, 10В°C, and 10В°C, in Toronto there were 3 days without precipitation but one day had drifting snow, the lack of precipitation is cause by the cold temps and not enough heat for the water cycle, it s also due to the low latitudes and Lake Ontario keeps a slight amount of heat. Saskatoon was the coldest of the three with temps of: 20.4В°C, 18В°C, 17В°C, and 21В°C there were 3 days with no precipitation but a day with drifting snow. Life zones on a mountain reflect the changes, plants at the base are the same as those in surrounding countryside, but no trees at all can grow above the timber line. Snow crowns the highest elevations. Another factor is landforms, air masses meet at a mountain and it is forced upwards and this has an effect, the air cools. Air can only keep some moisture, once it reaches its limit the moisture is offloaded in the form of rain. The colder the air, the less water vapor it can contain so as the air rises and cools it leads to precipitation. Vancouver has mountains and is heated by the water. Toronto has many pavement roads the ground cools quickly, but it has a slight high elevation which cause it to experience cold weather. Saskatoon has no vegetation and has a lower elevation which cause it to be really cold because air is free and circulates to move cold air to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Francis and Clare both were heavily impacted by the internal and external war they faced. These impacts had changed their lives drastically and had changed their view related to the world and church. • 5. Williams Honors College Experience Essay The Williams Honors College was extremely influential in my college experience. The Williams Honors College provided me with peers, mentors, and experiences that allowed me to have an unforgettable college experience. My first experience with the University of Akron was through an Honors Scholarship Friday. When I came to campus for that event as a high school senior, I went through a series of interviews. These interviews, despite being nerve wracking, provided me with a first hand opportunity to interact with and ask questions about the Honors College at the University of Akron. As someone who was very interested in studying business, I had my heart set on Miami University. My mind quickly opened after my exposure to the then University ... Through Phi Delta Theta, I also had a chance to meet passionate University of Akron alumni who deepened my commitment to the Akron community. I also sought out internships earlier than most students in my field, and was able to complete two before entering my senior year. During the summer following my sophomore year, I was honored to have the opportunity to complete an internship with the J.M. Smucker Company. More recently, I completed an internship with Ernst Young, LLP, one of the four largest professional services firms in the world, where I will be working full time upon graduation. I would not have had the knowledge or the confidence to pursue these opportunities without the mentoring I received through the Williams Honors College. Though the Williams Honors College had a tremendous impact on my undergraduate days, I am very excited about how it will impact my future. The Honors College has deepened my commitment to the University of Akron and the greater Akron community. Though neither of my parents are from Akron, they moved me here when I was two years old. Akron is my home and my time at the University has secured my roots. I am appreciative of everything the Williams Honors College has given me, and I cannot wait to give some of that back to the University of Akron and the Williams Honors College in the ... Most of them will go to college, but it is their choice to make a big jump to success or have a bad attitude to everything and waste the rest of their lives. I, a seventeen year old student, was stuck in a world of choices, and did not know which way to go. Since I was not a very good studentat school, everybody advised me to enroll in an easy to get admitted to college in Vietnam. I once had a Skype session with a student from APU named Bek, and the session went quite well. He gave me some advice for my essays, the interview, and some information about part time jobs for international students. That helped me a lot. Furthermore, as a student studies about Asia Pacific region, participating in Multicultural events such as Thai Week, and Indonesian Week not only interests me, but also will give me the chance to understand more about the Asian culture. Besides, since I am partial to performing, singing, and dancing at high school, attending the Latin American African Dance Club, and the Chorus Club is a chance I will take to develop my hobbies, and relieve stress after class. After graduating from APU, I want to stay in Japan, and work for the Vietnam Television Channel Station located in Japan. • 7. Eiffel Tower The Eiffel Tower is a puddle iron lattice tower located on the Champ de Marsin Paris. Built in 1889, it has become both a global cultural icon of France and one of the most recognizable structures in the world. The tower is the tallest building in Paris and the most visited paid monument in the world; millions of people ascend it every year. Named after its designer, engineer Gustave Eiffel, the tower was built as the entrance arch to the 1889 World s Fair. The tower stands 324 metres tall, about the same height as an 81 storey building. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The tower was much criticized by the public when it was built, with many calling it an eyesore. Newspapers of the day were filled with angry letters from the arts community of Paris. The pig iron structure of the Eiffel Tower weighs 7,300 tones, while the entire structure, including non metal components, is approximately 10,000 tones. As a demonstration of the economy of design, if the 7,300 tones of the metal structure were melted down it would fill the 125 metre square base to a depth of only 6 cm, assuming the density of the metal to be 7.8 tones per cubic meter. Depending on the ambient temperature, the top of the tower may shift away from the sun by up to 18 cm because of thermal expansion of the metal on the side facing the sun. Maintenance of the tower includes applying 50 to 60 tones of paint every seven years to protect it from rust. The height of the Eiffel Tower varies by 15 cm due to temperature. In order to maintain a uniform appearance to an observer on the ground, three separate colors of paint are used on the tower, with the darkest on the bottom and the lightest at the top. On occasion the color of the paint is changed; the tower is currently painted a shade of bronze. On the first floor there are interactive consoles hosting a poll for the color to use for a future session of painting. The terminology employed in describing the different planting models are divergent and a lot of terms are gotten from the obstetrics or horticulture world, but others are derived from the military, nautical and astronomical worlds (Murray, Laying Foundations, 260). Christine groups planting models in terms of the body performing the sponsoring say the agency, church or any other body (Robinson and Christine, Planting tomorrow s Churches Today, 126). Murray defines four historical church planting categories: one is the replacement planting where it is conducted in places where the church is being closed, two is the pioneer planting which is done in places where there are no Christian witnesses, three is the saturation planting that mainly concerns with ensuring that each group of people that is identifiable has unlimited church access which has relevance on a contextual basis, and the fourth and last one is the sectarian planting that ensures an ... I was sort of caught by surprised by how open and sudden these short segments of the story were while reading. I am going to be focusing on character interactions. Usually when we think of incest we see it as something to frown upon but in this book it seems as if it nothing to be concerned about. When reading these parts that involve incest i just try to read on and treat it like other text and try not to be weirded out by it. On the same page the odd relationship between ruth and her dad become way more explicit. At sixteen, she still insisted on having him come to her at night sit on her bed, exchange pleasantries, and plant a kiss on her lips . Just like the previous quote i skimmed through it quickly and when i went back to ready it i just said woah. I couldn t really believe how this relation would even go this far and why this stuff would even be included. This made me wonder why would the author include this type of incestual reationships in her book? Is it to make the story way more interesting. Another thing to add is although i am mainly focusing on the incestual relationship you could see this under the gender /feminist lens and see how the daughter is being taking advantage of in a young age as she doesn t seem to really understand the type of relationship she has with her own ... • 12. Divergent Dystopia Essay Divergent Dystopia vs. modern day society Many of us focus on trying to see the positive side of things, but the truth is that sometimes we need to open our eyes, and notice the negative activities sourrounding our world. Once we comprehende what is negativetely affecting our world, then we should find a way to fix it, and shape the world. For several years now, sales of new and popular music have steadily declined and show no sign of changing. The RIAA (Recording Industry Associationof America) succeeded in disbanding the pioneer Internet file sharing program, Napster, but is facing confrontation with similar programs that are escaping American copyright laws. All genes are inherited therefore so are bad genes; a single gene defect is that, a gene for a disease is inherited and manifests as a birth defect. Then, there s chromosomal abnormalities. Chromosomes are those structures within our cells that contain genes. If an abnormality occurs (such as a replacement, of one piece of the gene for another) this will also results in a birth defect within the fetus. Noonan Syndrome is the result of a chromosomal abnormality. This specific type of abnormality can only be detected by deep molecular testing of the parents and the offspring who has been affected by Noonan syndrome. Detection then becomes a tricky process as the signs and symptoms of the defect can be misdiagnosed as their individual appearances. A short stature can be seen as just a physical abnormality, the same for eye spacing and other physically noticeable attributes. The heart diseases can be seen as completely separate problems as well. For this reason cases of Noonan syndrome can persist into a person s adult life completely undiagnosed. Detection therefore relies on the parents being genetically tested before ever conceiving. Noonan syndrome through inheritance is of an autosomal dominant pattern. That ... Over the next 4,700 years, the character of war has changed dramatically with the introduction of new technologies such as iron, steel, and gunpowder. • 34. Euthanasia Should Be Allowed To Die Research Paper To have the right to be assisted to die or to not have the right to be assisted to die, that is the question. An individual can have their lives turn upside down with merely a sentence being told to them. With the countless procedures performed, we are lament to say, there is no cure. Just with fourteen words being said, all hope is lost. What is the point of living on if all that is being felt is pure utter pain? These individuals that have already been told they have a terminal illness should be given their rights to end their lives. Being exempt from pure excruciating and unbearable pain is immoral; having said that, doctors should allow their patients to commit assisted suicide. Differentiating between euthanasia and assisted suicide is essential when discussing the right to die. When a third party has performed the last act in the patient s death, euthanasia has occurred. When a lethal injection is presented to the patient and the patient decides to insert it into their veins, assisted suicide has been partaken. The patient should have a right to decide whether or not they would like to continue living or perish. The doctor should not be the one in control when advocating the decision their patient would like to commit. Euthanasia makes the doctor the primary source to what should happen with their patient. Assisted suicide should be promoted instead of Euthanasia due to the fact that the patient overall decides their final fate. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This would be the easiest way for 3M to use the Greptile Technology; 3M has made a name for themselves by being innovative using their technology to create out of box products. So my suggestion for using the Greptile Technology within the Sports and Leisure market would be to create a new and lighter running shoe that is used on indoor and outdoor tracks for track competitions. As a former track athlete one of the biggest concerns of track athletes is the traction that we have on the bottom of our shoes on outdoor tracks especially during the summer track season. The Greptile Technology if modified correctly could provide a superior traction when running on the track and would not wear down as easily as track shoes that are on the market. Using the technology in a modified state would allow 3M to enter into another submarket of the Sports and Leisure market and still keep in tack their record of diversified technology and innovation. I am sure if there were to use the technology for a lighter track shoe with superior traction would be able to enter into the running shoe market which is estimated to be a $13 billion per year industry.
