Engagement matters because it leads to increased productivity when employees are involved and understand the company's direction. However, engagement alone is not enough - it must be accompanied by involvement in decision making and a clear understanding of company strategy and objectives. Simply focusing on engagement surveys and awards misses the point; true engagement involves listening to employees, as they already have insights into how to improve. Companies should take visible actions that demonstrate to employees they are valued, in order to reap the benefits of a highly engaged and motivated workforce.

Hall & Woodhouse has been brewing beer since 1777 and operates managed pubs and partnerships. It created development passports to address high recruitment costs, low team engagement, and the lack of an internal talent pipeline for leadership roles. The passports define the key pillars, roles, responsibilities, and metrics for managers across the company by collating existing resources and identifying knowledge gaps to fill. Over 60 learning plans were created and accessed over 1,000 times, linking the passports to performance management and workforce planning.

This document summarizes the journey of Dorset County Council's online learning portal over 5 years. It started as a place to store elearning modules with low usage, but it has now become an integral part of the organization's learning and development. Through collaboration with Learning Pool and refocusing efforts on learner experience and engagement, the portal was relaunched as Dorset Learning Online. It is now a total learning management system providing online resources, reporting, and performance management tools. While more improvements are planned, the council has learned that online learning requires leadership from learning and development professionals to guide learners' experiences.

In the rapidly evolving landscape of technologies, XML continues to play a vital role in structuring, storing, and transporting data across diverse systems. The recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) present new methodologies for enhancing XML development workflows, introducing efficiency, automation, and intelligent capabilities. This presentation will outline the scope and perspective of utilizing AI in XML development. The potential benefits and the possible pitfalls will be highlighted, providing a balanced view of the subject. We will explore the capabilities of AI in understanding XML markup languages and autonomously creating structured XML content. Additionally, we will examine the capacity of AI to enrich plain text with appropriate XML markup. Practical examples and methodological guidelines will be provided to elucidate how AI can be effectively prompted to interpret and generate accurate XML markup. Further emphasis will be placed on the role of AI in developing XSLT, or schemas such as XSD and Schematron.
