Television, A Modern Media Essay
Television, a telecommunication medium some may not survive without. Today s generation may refer
to television as a technological norm; delusional of a world where television was non existent.
Notably, television unites the nation through local or world events, politics, education, and
entertainment. Philo Farnsworth, Father of Television, invented the television; the electronic
transmission of fixed or mobile images. Furthermore, Farnsworth s invention influenced a new form
of media. Young Farnsworth s scientific, technological imagination as well as, competitive battle with
a major league corporation, RCA, enticed the growth of one of the most popular media mediums;
television.
One illustrious instrument that advanced media configuration is Farnsworth s ambitious background.
Philo Farnsworth, innovator at heart, was born August 19, 1906 in Beaver, Utah. Young Farnsworth
grew up on a farmhouse in Rigby, Idaho. While tending to daily agricultural responsibilities on the
farm, Farnsworth fantasized about conveying images through electrical power. He said he had realized
seven years earlier, while plowing a field on his family s farm, that an image could be scanned onto a
picture tube row by row ( Elma Gardner Farnsworth, 98; Helped Husband Develop TV, 2006).
Likewise, Farnsworth created electrical improvements to household appliances which became a
favored pastime. According to Godfrey (2004), By age 12, Philo was repairing the electric machinery

Fake Heroes Vs Kids Wish Networks
Of all the evils in this world, few are worse than fake charities. Taking advantage of people s kindness
like that is simply inexcusable and it s depressing that this still happens in these modern times.
However, we can put an end to these monsters and it all starts with education. Of course, not everyone
has time to monitor each and every charity for signs of corruption so we took the liberty and did it for
you. So check out the following five organizations and avoid them at all costs. FAKE CHARITIES:
KIDS WISH NETWORK It doesn t get much worse than the Kids Wish Network. To put things in
perspective, they operate out of a metal factory behind some gas station in Florida. Maybe the rent is
just expensive in Holiday, Florida. Even if it was, they can afford it. Kids Wish Network raised $137.9

Children s Wish Foundational International is a rip off of the Make A Wish Foundation. However, they
don t make any wishes come true except their own. Out of $92.7 million raised, they only paid 10.6%
in aid. Sadly, that s much more then the others you re about to see on this list. FAKE CHARITIES:
INTERNATION UNION OF POLICE If you didn t hate the police enough already, here is just another
excuse. One year they raised $66.6 million. Want to guess how much they spent on direct cash aid?
0.5%. Of course, not all police are corrupt but this certainly doesn t give them a very good name.
FAKE CHARITIES: BREAST CANCER RELIEF FOUNDATION Here we have yet another instance
of horrible people profiting on cancer. If you ever come across the Breast Cancer Relief Foundation,
stay away. They have a nasty history. Raising $63.9 million, the company pocketed a few million, then
paid $44.8 million to solicitors. Meanwhile, only 2.2% of the funds went to help people with breast

Analysis Of Founding Brothers By Joseph J. Ellis
Founding Brothers, written by the illustrious Joseph J. Ellis and winner of the Pulitzer prize, is an
extraordinary combination of perspectives from several founding fathers. Ellis seeks to give
understanding into the people behind the acts that grant Americans the freedom they so greatly boast
of, but also, Ellis seeks to show a few of the shortcomings, be they nationally detrimental or
otherwise, of America s founding fathers. Ellis, however, sums up an interesting insight into these men
with his words, The old adage applies: Men make history, and the leading members of the
revolutionary generation realized they were doing so, but they can never know the history they are
making (4). Joseph J. Ellis is an expert writer known for his eight wonderful, best selling, history
books. Of which, Founding Brothers is one. Ellis methods, as verbose as they may appear, are seen as
somewhat controversial in the more devout, patriotic circles of historical figure analysis. This is due to
his more pragmatic approach to character examination. He sugarcoats little, and truly gives the bare
facts regarding the situation. For instance, Ellis writes, ...the fate of the American experiment with
Republican government still required virtuous leaders to survive...Both Burr and Hamilton came to the
interview because they wished to be regarded as part of such company (47). A fanatic of Burr or
Hamilton wouldn t dare insinuate selfish motivations to explain the actions of his heroes

Essay On The Importance Of Homeland Security
Importance of Homeland Security
Using risk management to expand the capacity in achieving the objectives of the Department of
Homeland Security is critical to ensure the safety of the United States. In order to strengthen said
objectives to fulfill its mission, the Department of Homeland Security created a Risk Management
Fundamentals that provides a disciplined approach in the distribution and use of risk information
across the entire department. Needless to say, the Department of Homeland Security plays a
demanding aspect in leading the consolidated efforts through the management of the complex set of
risks that face the United States on a day to day basis (Enterprise Risk Management Initiative, 2011).

The committee...concludes that Risk = A Function of Threat, Vulnerability, and Consequences (Risk =
f(T,V,C)) is a philosophically suitable framework for breaking risk into its component elements, (The
National Academic Press, 2016). The article goes on to explain that the equation provided is best
suited for natural and man made hazards, and it isn t considered a new method. However, in terms of
making the equation fit threats that are under other categories, we learn that the risk assessment has
been under construction for many years. Risk = T ×V ×C is not an adequate calculation tool for
estimating risk in the terrorism domain, for which independence of threats, vulnerabilities, and
consequences does not typically hold and feedbacks exist, (The National Academic Press, 2016). The
Department of Homeland Security has shown in reviews that it is feasible to make an estimate on the
provisional anticipation distributions for the T, V, and C in the equation. In other words, there is a
probable way to determine what these areas will be in order to formulate the risk that may be at hand.
When one influence moves it will ultimately affect another influence, so it also cannot be defined so

Exploring the Theme of Moral Responsibility in Daniel...
We are destroying the earth in order to survive. What is our Moral Responsibility?
Daniel Quinn has written a book about how things have come to be the way they are. He looks at the
meaning of the world and the fate of humans. Ishmael the main character is a teacher of vast wisdom,
as well as being a Gorilla. Being no ordinary Gorilla, Ishmael recognises the failing of human kind in
relation to their moral responsibilities. He ultimately directs use towards a solution to the problems we
have created for the planet. Ishmael is trying to convey that man kind is living in such a way that we
can not last. Our vast numbers alone is hindering our survival.
Moral responsibility is a clear theme of this text. One prime example is: ... Show more content on

The UK Parliament has made considerable movement towards helping schools in Britain to become
kinder to the planet. The Scottish government has introduced an eco schools programme into the
British school system. These eco schools and the government hold close links with Education for
sustainable development (ESD).
We have to learn our way out of current social and environmental problems and learn to live
sustainably. (ESD)
The eco schools programme offers environmental education that benefits the pupils by developing the
skills in them that will help them live a morally responsible life.
I believe anyone who reads this book will be made to stop and think about their contribution to the
suffering of the world. It is extremely thought provoking book; it makes you question how society
functions and the life you live. This is a dominant theme in all RE classrooms. It is imperative that
pupils think of the world they live in and how they can help make it a better place. One thing Ishmael
points out is humans existed for millions of years without the modern view of civilisation. It was not
until the modern world was introduced that earth began to suffer . The damage that came about due to
the modern world Ishmael has a solution. His answer to it is to move on from what he calls a taker
society to a leaver society. To move from the view that the world was made for man to the view that

Figurative Language In Erik Larson s Devil In The White City
A Tale of Two Cities
Serbian poet, Dejan Stojanovic, once stated, Devil and God two sides of the same face. When looking
at Chicago during the Columbian Exposition, there were two sides of Chicago known as the white city
and the black city. The white city was the fairgrounds where the World Fair occurred. The black city,
however, is the rest of Chicago where the crime, poverty, disease, and filth was represented. Erik
Larson constructs the black and white city in Devil in the White City by incorporating figurative
language, imagery, and juxtaposition.
One of Erik Larson s main ways of building the black and white cities is through figurative language.
Larson expresses that Chicago is likened...to a human being with his skin removed ... Show more

Using descriptive diction such as eerie and swamp readers can imagine an unpleasant city rustling
with filth and crime. Larson exposes that Chicago had auras of mosquitoes in its midst. Readers
automatically see Chicago as a filthy and troublesome town when they associate it with mosquitoes.
This view of Chicago created by Larson further achieves his purpose to show the downside of
Chicago during the time the World Fair was being constructed and attended. When the World Fair was
finished, Larson described the nights, the lamps that laced every building and walkway produced the
most elaborate demonstration of electric illumination ever attempted (254). Larson says the lamps
laced the walkways in the white city which allows readers to picture the city in a whimsical way. The
feeling of the word laced sits with readers in a positive way. Thus, Larson can achieve the purpose of
forcing readers to see the white city in a luxurious fashion. Also, Larson mentions that the lighting was
elaborate. Readers see the white city as a sophisticated and lavish place rather than how they see the
black city. Larson again is able to persuade readers into believing the magic of the white city. Larson
calls upon imagery to construct the two sides of Chicago. Larson deploys juxtaposition to build the
two views of Chicago. Larson

A Comparison Of Alexander Hamilton And Aaron Burr
Over the centuries there has arisen many undisputed geniuses such as Leonardo da Vinci, William
Shakespeare, and Albert Einstein. With the rise of geniuses such as these there are two questions
raised. What is genius? Is genius born or can it be learned? Scholars have gone back and forth and
there is plenty of evidence and countless examples supporting either side. However, there appears to
be a compromise between the two sides in how a genius comes about. To begin, it is common for
many people to laud a skilled person as a genius . In reality, a genius is defined as, extraordinary
intellectual power especially as manifested in creative activity (Meriam). Clearly, a genius who

Gates later went on co found Microsoft and create lasting and groundbreaking computer software that
continues to be valuable to society as technology has become common in day to day life.
Undoubtedly, Gate s intellect, passion, and creativity led him to create an extraordinary product and
established him as a modern genius. To begin, genius comes about through passion, creativity, and
natural talent and cannot be born . First, intellect is the obvious foundation for any genius, however, it
involves more than natural intelligence. To illustrate, an individual may have great talent in a certain
subject but lack of practice, imagination and passion will prevent him from being a genius. On the
other hand, one may not have an astounding natural ability nevertheless he practices, has a passion for
this subject and an open imagination; this individual may turn out to be a genius. Thus, intellect is an
aspect of a genius not the only component. Further, passion has long been known to be a powerful
force in humans and it has led to artistic and scientific advances. Passion pushes individuals to not
give up in testing new theories, invention or techniques. Insert example of how passion motivated. To
illustrate, Tesla faced much opposition nonetheless his passion for his work pushed him to overcome
them and to create. Thus, it is passion that sees intellect through to

Maya Angelou Caged Bird Essay
A poem titled Caged Bird by Maya Angelou was written in 1969. In her poem, called Caged Bird,
there are numerous types of literary devices she uses to convey her message, but the top four are
metaphors, symbols, diction, and connotation. She uses them to represent the struggle for freedom.
Through metaphors and diction, Maya Angelou is able to capture the want for freedom. The caged
bird s tune is heard on the distant hill for the caged bird sings for freedom (Angelou lines 19 21). The
caged bird is asking for freedom through singing, as a way to disguise it from the entity that is
restricting his freedom. The free bird hears the singing. The caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
(Angelou line 26). The free bird gets to roam the world, doing as he pleases, but the caged bird is
trapped from being able to roam the world. Maya Angelou s choice of words for grave of dreams
emphasizes that the caged bird s dreams are now dead, as he now stands on the now dying dreams of
freedom as he has been locked away for so long. The caged bird longs for the ... Show more content

caged bird also sings with a fearful trill of things unknown but longed for still (Angelou lines 30 33).
The caged bird fears for what freedom could be, but he still strives for it. It symbolizes the struggle for
freedom because he still longs for freedom even though he is not sure what it could be. The caged bird
s struggle for freedom reveal themselves through symbols, as his bound feet and disabled wings
symbolize the harnesses put against him, and the longing for freedom, even though unknown,

Cosplay Imperialism
Cosplay, short for costume play , is a performance art in which people called cosplayers wear
costumes and specific accessories and props to represent or portray a specific fictional character. It is a
unique Japanese form of art which, playing upon the identificatory fantasy, it enables the western
participants to assume identities and to differentiate themselves in ways which western culture cannot.
The average cosplayer is not just putting on a costume; the experience is one of rebirth, an identity
transformation. Daniel s (2010) paper determines whether cosplay is a demonstration of cultural
imperialism of cultural hybridity. Lotecki (2012) and Hale s (2014) paper examines the creative,

What Is Proactive Interference
Introduction
By the age of seven, reading is an activity many children are well accustomed to. With the amount of
time most individuals have been reading, this task is relatively easy. Yet, there are still instances in
which we are reading a novel, a magazine, or even a simple text message, and we simply cannot
manage to remember what we read. This is event is due to interference. Interference theory states that
there are two forms of interference that can hinder our ability to properly encode information into our
memory (Bergstrom 1892), proactive interference and retroactive interference. When reading,
however, visual interference can play a large part in disrupting out learning process.
In the experiment commonly known for the development ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A controlled process is a task which is new or unique to the person. It is serial, takes heavy demands
on attention, requires conscious efforts to direct attention towards the task and is slow. Whereas an
automatic process is a task which has already been learned. It can be parallel, makes no demands on
attention, does not need conscious direction of attention towards the task and is fast. This implies that
when we are presented with a word, the action of stating its color is a relatively new task compared to
the already learnt behavior to read just words. Therefore, reading is seen as the automatic process
which interferes with the slower controlled process of stating the color. With the alteration of the
original Stroop Effect experiment, the automaticity model is discredited due to the fact that instead of
stating the word the participant points at the observed color instead. This nonverbal response, pointing
at the color, is not believed to be an automatic process, thus the automaticity model is questioned
when researchers note an interference in the speed of processing in incongruently colored

To begin, the film definitely did a great job of creating mood, and providing perspective to the viewer

Yet, hunger only makes up for a small part of the complications that poverty brings. Without enough
money, how does someone suppose to afford to live in a house? Though most Miami County residents
do not see homeless people, does not hide the fact we have people living without a home. Peru is not a
big city like New York, or Los Angeles, but no matter where you are at in America, there will always
be those who cannot afford to rent or own any type of housing.
Even if everyone could afford some type of housing to live in, it does not mean they can afford all the
necessary utilities. Air conditioning is not a necessity, but someone might not have enough money to
provide a fan. The cost for utilities such as electricity for a fan to keep the cool in the summer heat, or
simply having running water might be a problem for someone with little to no income. With winter
approaching even some people will have to go without heat in the Miami County area.

Chuorinkan and Kignae Houses in Tokoyo, Japan Essay
Both the Chuorinkan house and the Koganei house are in the To kyo suburbs and were designed at
about the same time. Though they differ structurally and visually, they represent one approach to the
problems they involve. The starting points of both are deliberate quotations and reorganizations of
architectural compositional elements that can be called representative of the early modern period. I
have used the same kind of design approach in other works. For example quotations from motifs used
by Le Corbusier and Charles Rennie Mackintosh are found in the interior of PMT Building No. 1 (JA,
September, 1978). Project W and PMT Building No. 2 entail reorganizations of elements from Le
Corbusier s La Roche Jeanneret House in Paris. And the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The coverings of the two houses are different, but both follow the basic modern architectural
principles of free interior planning determined on the basis of function and facades independent of the
interior. The discrepancy between planning and facade inevitably arises from the two demands
imposed on houses today. First, from the outside they must symbolize the idea of «house.» Second, on
the inside, they must be places for daily living. These two houses result from a process of evolving
single spaces without annulling the basic contradiction inherent in the two demands.
The presence and absence of ornamentation markedly contrast the two houses. Stereotyped, uniplanar
ornaments distinguish the Chuori n kan house. The double crisscross grilles in doors and windows are
based on the supports of the punched aluminum rain sutters. Stripes in the exterior walls suggest
columns. Inside circular and curved lines are repeated in the round window in the master bedroom and
in the bench back and the round table in the I iving room. These designs are not quotations from any
specific architecture but completely ordinary applications of stereotyped motifs.
Practically the only ornamental touch in the Koganei house is the horizontal strip windows. They are
considered ornament in this case because they have transcended the personal style of Le Corbusier,
who emp loyed them in his early period, and have become universally recognized symbols of the
socalled international style. Elements

Game Of Thrones Patriarchy Quotes
In Game of Thrones every character is tortured in their own right. Some characters are simply
ridiculed in front of nobility, while others are forced to walk the streets of the city naked. Arguably,
Sansa Stark is one of the characters that receive the most unfortune. Sansa Stark, a naive, idealistic
girl from the North, hoped to marry the prince of her dreams, instead, her father was killed in front of
her, she was married twice to two sadistic men, and was raped in one of the most controversial
moments of the show. Sansa s subject to unfortunate events makes readers and viewers alike ask, will
Sansa ever escape her bad luck? The time period in which Game of Thrones is set does not heavily
favor women, which would partially explain Sansa s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is determined to take back her home (Winterfell) and reunite the remaining members of her
family. Should Sansa accomplish her goal of taking back her home, she presumably would become
queen of the North, which would be a severe blow to the patriarchy of Game of Thrones. The
patriarchy in modern terms is characterised by current and historic unequal power relations between
women and men whereby women are systematically disadvantaged and oppressed (2). Sansa
becoming the queen of the North, would in a sense put her in a standing equal to those of men (or
even higher than some). The only obstacle that stand in the way of Sansa, is her sadistic husband,
Ramsay Bolton, who has taken her over her home and recently took her younger brother hostage.
Ramsay Bolton is the epitome of the patriarchy, he is the warden (ruler) of the North and was the one
that raped Sansa. Ramsay sees humans as toys and brutally tortures and subsequently flays them.
Sansa s decision to stand up against Ramsay shows her strength: instead of remaining a rape victim,
Sansa decides to take action. In a world filled with men in power, Sansa no longer see herself as
subservient object as she did in the previous seasons. Sansa is ready to take on the patriarchy and
assert herself to ultimately play the game of

Community Corrections And Prisons
The use of community corrections would be beneficial to the United States. Because it will help,
reduce the overcrowding in jails and prisons. With community corrections, offenders will be able to
remain as a productive member off society while still serving their sentence. The majority of
incarcerated people have committed nonviolent offenses (drugs, burglary, and other). By taking them
out of Jail and place those in community correction programs it will help cut the prison population.
One of major problems that affect the ability of corrections to function as a system is the
overcrowding of jails and prisons in the United States. Leading to increase inmate disobedience and
makes prison more dangerous places work. Especially in maximum security

The Nsa And The Terrorist Attacks Against Paris
In wake of the terrorist attacks against Paris, many American political leaders are urging to increase
security measures used to fight terrorism. The question is perpetual, Is government spying necessary
to curtail terrorist acts?
History
The NSA was created on November 4, 1952, by President Harry Truman and was held responsible for
collecting, processing, and distributing intelligence information from foreign electronic signals. The
NSA contributed to the Nation s work in breaking German and Japanese codes during WWII. The
information collected was to be used for national foreign intelligence and counterintelligence purposes
and to support military operations. Although the inner dynamic of the NSA would completely change
after september 11, 2001. Nearly 3,000 Americans were dead in the worst terrorist attack in U.S. And
those working for the NSA felt guilty, as if there was more they could have done. Prior to the attacks,
many hijackers were living in the U.S. We all felt like a great wrong had been done and that we are all
somewhat if not all culpable, remembered J. Kirk Wiebe, a former NSA senior analyst. After 9/11 No
longer would surveillance be limited to foreign targets. Instead, the agency would begin monitoring
virtually all data involving communications flowing through the U.S. without a warrant and without
privacy protections. everything changed at the NSA after the attacks on September 11. The prior

Horseshoe Crab Essay
The horseshoe crab, Limulus polyphemus
The horseshoe crab, Limulus polyphemus is known as a marine chelicerate arthropod. It s from the
Limulidae family and more commonly found along the northern Atlantic coast of North America.
The horseshoe crab makes use of different habits depending on it s current stage of development. They
lay there eggs on the coastal beaches during the late spring and summer. Once the eggs hatch, the
young horseshoe crabs are found offshore, within sandy areas of tidal flats. Adult horseshoe crabs are
found in deeper parts of the ocean waters (National Wildlife Federation). The horseshoe crab is more
related to arachnids, which is a group related to spiders and scorpions, rather than crustaceans, which
are more related to crabs, shrimps and lobsters (Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission).
The lifespan of a horseshoe crab is up to 20 40 years in the wild. There structure has not changed
much for the past 445 million years. One hypothesis is that the hard exoskeleton of horseshoe crab
allows them to survive predators and as a result they have been to live through many decades.

Search Of The Second Language
As my search of the second language to write the analysis started, I wanted to find a language that I
believe was more interesting that the ones I already know. Dart is a multi purpose, garbage collected,
class based, programming language that borrows the same C like syntax as many modern
programming languages out there. Dart was originally developed by Google and released on 2011. [1]
The main usages of Dart are four; compiled as JavaScript to run in the Chromium web browser, stand
alone by using the Dart Virtual Machine, and ahead of time compiled into machine code. In other to
run on the main stream web browsers, Dart relies on a source to source compiler to JavaSript , which
is basically a type of compiler that takes the source code in one language as input, and output a source
code in another language. This is the opposite to tradicional compilers, which translate between a high
level language to a lower level, while source to source translate to a langauge within the same level of
abstraction. In some cases, code written in Dart can run faster than the same code written using
JavaScript. [1] [2] The Dart SDK brings a modified version of Chromium that includes a Dart VM
which allows to run Dart on this browser. In my opinion, I believe that the target of Dart s designers is
to substitute JavaScript in the future. By allowing source to source compilation and integrating a Dart
VM to the Chromium browser, I beleive this is an attempt to make people use Dart instead of

Application Of An Operating System Security
Abstract
This paper presents a description of an operating system security design that addresses the need for
flexibility to control dissemination of usage rights, administration of fine grained rights, and validates
the reversal of prior access rights. The system that can handle this enormous task is the Flux Advanced
Security Kernel (Flask) microkernel based operating system architecture, according to research
conducted by the National Security Agency (NSA) and researchers at the University of Utah. Based
on the results of testing and observations, the Flask architecture prototype is flexible to operate and
was found to be practical to apply. The Flask architecture proved capable of overcoming most
obstacles to attain policy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a wide range of computing environments and products that support these environments, with
each one having distinctive security needs. Computing systems must have the flexibility to support
many diverse types of security operating systems. This is the crux of the problem that has facilitated
research into finding a system that is multi faceted and able to provide fine grained controls
identifying who has access to which levels of data, determine which users have permission to
information based on policies and procedures, and revoke access rights that had been established
previously. The Flask model prototype has proven to meet the needs for an operating system that
contains policy flexibility. It has a security policy server capable of making determinations about who
has access and to what extent. Moreover, the Flask security system is able to split mechanism and
policy with a fuller set of safety measures to be maintained with diminished requirements for policy
specific modifications. The Flask architecture cleanly separates the definition of the policy logic from
the enforcement mechanism. The security policy logic is encapsulated within a separate component of
the operating system with well defined interfaces for obtaining security policy decisions. This separate
component is referred to as the security

Learning and Change in Organizations
Learning and Change in Organizations
We live in a dynamic world with constantly varying conditions and aspects that influence how we
make business operations and manage resources. The varying conditions in different circumstances
require a level of understanding that is made possible through learning. This essentially means that
learning consistent with the varying condition is in order to stay in touch and articulate matters
appropriately. Business operations cannot be expected to carry on in the similar ways as in the past
with no considerations of what is happening in the modern world (Pless, 2007).
Learning is a process of discovery that generates new understanding about ourselves and the world
around us. Strategic learning is organizational learning that improves the strategic capability of the
organization and changes the basic assumptions underlying the stable generation mechanism that
structures the strategic behavior design process. Organizations have various levels of knowledge and
learn at all levels (Stein Nelson, 2003). The levels of organizational learning interact, making higher
order learning such as strategic learning problematic. Change resulting from learning need not be
visibly behavioral. Learning may result in new and significant insights and awareness that dictate no
behavioral change. In this sense the crucial element in learning is that the organism be consciously
aware of differences and alternatives and have consciously chosen one of these

Cheerleading Should Be Granted Sport Status
The argument of whether or not cheerleading should be granted sport status is one that has escalated

There are many proven facts to support that cheerleading is in fact a sport. ESPN officially declared
cheer to be a sport, but that has not seemed to affect people s opinions.
There are certain different types of cheerleading that people should educate themselves with before
they decide whether or not to accept cheerleading as a sport. Cheerleading has different categories and
types depending on age and location. The two most common types of cheerleading for high school and
college cheerleaders are sideline and competitive. Drehs reports, Ask most college cheerleaders today

that competition cheerleading does not get any credit for being a sport, although it proves to be very

Too many believe cheerleading only consists of girls looking pretty on the sidelines, so the question

Throws and submissions are both scored in a different way. When being scored, the force and control
of the throw or pin is taken into account. You can score a ippon, wazari, yuko, or koka. Ippons are the
highest you can score. An ippon is scored when you throw your opponent so that their back
completely touches the mat. Wazaris are scored when an opponent falls partially on there back, two
wazaris equal one ippon. Next are yukos and kokas. A yuko is only 5 points and is scored when an

Religion, Money, And The Scientific Revolution
The modern world was created through many events such as Scientific Revolutions, factors such as
religion, money, and even the creation and fall of widely known empires. With these revolutions,
factors and institutions it shaped the world from the start to how we see the world now. One revolution
couldn t happen without the start of another down the road, and the fall of one empire would spark the
start of another. These are only a few reasons of how the modern world was created. The most
important ones that shaped the world we live in today are religion, money, and the Scientific

Without the evolution of money from shells and skills that people had we would not have bills and
coins and our trade would be limited greatly and this would not make us a modern world. A money
system needed to happen for the world to continue effectively. As well as the evolution of religion this
plays a big part in how we communicate with each other. If religion empires would have not been
conquered by people who believe in humanist religions we could possibly still be under a rule where
people have to summit to a certain religion. Lastly the Scientific Revolution was able to shape our
modern world for the best. The Scientific Revolution almost coincided with the Industrial Revolution
in that new technology emerged. It also created modern medicine which is vital to anyone in todays
world. Although it funded capitalist creed it was not such a bad thing because we need capital in our

world for free. Our modern world is a beautiful place even though some issues that occurred during
the formation of modernization the planet are still being worked on today.

Through these legal changes, I explore emerging ideas of participation and community that turned

classification of water hardness can be found. This table shows the different amounts of CaCO3,
calcium carbonate, in mg/L that cause water to be soft too hard.
Hardness in mg/L CaCO3 Degree of Hardness
0 30 Very soft
31 60 Soft
61 120 Moderately soft/ moderately hard
121 180 Hard
180 Very hard Table 1.4 General guidelines for classification of water hardness
Two methods that are utilized in measuring the hardness of water are EDTA and AA. The EDTA,
ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid, method contains 3 steps. First, preparation of a standard Ca2+
solution is needed. Second, standardization of EDTA with a standard calcium solution has to occur.
The final step is an analysis of an unknown Ca2+ sample with the standardized EDTA solution
(Community College of Rhode Island). During the lab, a NH3/NH4 buffer was added to the sample
water to make the solution basic, a pH of around 10. EBT, eriochrome black T, was then added to this
solution. The solution turned blue when EBT was added. If magnesium were present in the water, the
solution would turn red. Then, EDTA, which has a known concentration, was added the red solution.
The EDTA reacts with the calcium that is present in the solution bringing the solution back to its clear
color. After it reacted with calcium, it will react with the magnesium turning the solution to blue.
Overall, magnesium has to be

were they just trying to play games with her? Lauren sat there and stared at her phone for a good 15
minutes before her phone buzzed again. When Camila finished texting Lauren she took screenshots of
their conversation and sent them to Dinah, they talked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s easy Walz, you flirt with Lauren and and make her happy while she s gone and by then me and
Normani should be dating by then, if not we ll be good friends and dating soon. Anyway, we sit by her
and Lauren at lunch, when Lauren comes back to school then, the next morning you tell her who she s
been talking to, and if she doesn t think it s really you write something only the two of you would
know on a piece of paper take a selfie and send it to her. Dinah made it sound like telling Lauren
everything was easier than eating a cookie. D I can t just sit with her during a fifteen minute lunch
break and then text her the next morning and be like oh hey guess what? The person you ve been
texting for the past six days is me, Camila Cabello, the biggest bitch in the school she ll freak the fuck
out and never look at me ever again. I said almost yelling at her. Okay, Okay. Well then you wait a few
days, talk to her in person and let her get to know the sweet, loving, adorable, cute thing that you are.

Description Of A Police Officer
Introduction I always knew that I wanted to become a police officer, so I decided to interview a Police
Captain. I interviewed Police Captain John Carpenter of Riverside Police Department. I found him
through Riverside Police Department after looking around at the organizational chart I found online
and looking at the titles that were on the chart. The Police Captain is one rank above a Lieutenant, but
one below a Deputy Chief. A Police Captain is in charge of a certain precinct, and normally has his/her
own division. Captain Carpenter is currently in charge of investigations, such as gangs, narcotics, vice,
and intelligence units. The first portion of the paper will discuss qualities and requirements for the
position, while the second portion of the paper will go more in depth into the occupation, such as the
training required, how candidates are chosen, and salary.
Becoming a Police Officer:
Qualities and Characteristics
Discussing with Captain Carpenter, we talked about the qualities that a police officer would need to
have:
1) Hard worker
2) Dedicated
3) Team oriented (Has a partner so they need to work well with others)
4) Physically Fit
5) Good Judgement and problem solving skills
6) Good listener
7) Assertive
Experience required: In order to become a police officer, there is no experience required, however to
move up to a detective, there is a minimum of 5 10 years working on patrol before you can be part of
an investigations unit.
Education:
High School

How To Go Back To Photography Essay
There is more to photography than just pointing the camera at something and pressing the button. That
is where you start. You will always be learning something new, have new directions to explore, and
new challenges to face when taking pictures. Every time I take a picture, I learn more about myself,
what I value, and how I see the world.
At a young age, I have always had an interest in pictures. I used to go through every single box of
pictures in my mom and dad s closet. I would always go through them, remembering the moments of
when the picture was taken. In the pictures I wasn t in, I would ask what was happening so I could
place myself there and picture what I would have been doing at the time. I was intrigued with pictures
because when I hold the photo in my hands, I could feel the emotion, memory and time in that
moment. To my surprise, the pictures that were in the closet had helped shape a great hobby of mine.
Growing up, I was not good at playing instruments, drawing or throwing a ball, but I was good at
taking pictures. My family would always tell me how good my pictures were, giving me the
confidence in taking more pictures. I would always practice taking pictures of people even if they
came out bad. When the picture would come out blurry, I would keep taking more until the picture
came out perfect. With ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With my camera in my hand, I have gained a new appreciation of a smile, a gesture, a sunset, a
building and the beach. I see things differently and more clearly. I am now constantly looking at the
world, and my surroundings a different way. Now I focus on every detail that is within my view.
Every detail that is big or small I can see as a photograph, even when I am not taking a picture. There
is no detail big or small that is not within my effort to visualize how it might look in a photograph,
even if I am not currently taking

Today s generation may refer to television as a technological norm; delusional of a world where television was non existent. Notably, television unites the nation through local or world events, politics, education, and entertainment. Philo Farnsworth, Father of Television, invented the television; the electronic transmission of fixed or mobile images. Furthermore, Farnsworth s invention influenced a new form of media. Young Farnsworth s scientific, technological imagination as well as, competitive battle with a major league corporation, RCA, enticed the growth of one of the most popular media mediums; television. One illustrious instrument that advanced media configuration is Farnsworth s ambitious background. Philo Farnsworth, innovator at heart, was born August 19, 1906 in Beaver, Utah. Young Farnsworth grew up on a farmhouse in Rigby, Idaho. While tending to daily agricultural responsibilities on the farm, Farnsworth fantasized about conveying images through electrical power. He said he had realized seven years earlier, while plowing a field on his family s farm, that an image could be scanned onto a picture tube row by row ( Elma Gardner Farnsworth, 98; Helped Husband Develop TV, 2006). Likewise, Farnsworth created electrical improvements to household appliances which became a favored pastime. • 5. Analysis Of Founding Brothers By Joseph J. Ellis Founding Brothers, written by the illustrious Joseph J. Ellis and winner of the Pulitzer prize, is an extraordinary combination of perspectives from several founding fathers. Ellis seeks to give understanding into the people behind the acts that grant Americans the freedom they so greatly boast of, but also, Ellis seeks to show a few of the shortcomings, be they nationally detrimental or otherwise, of America s founding fathers. Ellis, however, sums up an interesting insight into these men with his words, The old adage applies: Men make history, and the leading members of the revolutionary generation realized they were doing so, but they can never know the history they are making (4). Joseph J. Ellis is an expert writer known for his eight wonderful, best selling, history books. Of which, Founding Brothers is one. Ellis methods, as verbose as they may appear, are seen as somewhat controversial in the more devout, patriotic circles of historical figure analysis. This is due to his more pragmatic approach to character examination. He sugarcoats little, and truly gives the bare facts regarding the situation. For instance, Ellis writes, ...the fate of the American experiment with Republican government still required virtuous leaders to survive...Both Burr and Hamilton came to the interview because they wished to be regarded as part of such company (47). The black city, however, is the rest of Chicago where the crime, poverty, disease, and filth was represented. When the World Fair was finished, Larson described the nights, the lamps that laced every building and walkway produced the most elaborate demonstration of electric illumination ever attempted (254). Larson says the lamps laced the walkways in the white city which allows readers to picture the city in a whimsical way. The feeling of the word laced sits with readers in a positive way. Thus, Larson can achieve the purpose of forcing readers to see the white city in a luxurious fashion. Also, Larson mentions that the lighting was elaborate. Readers see the white city as a sophisticated and lavish place rather than how they see the black city. Larson again is able to persuade readers into believing the magic of the white city. Therefore, reading is seen as the automatic process which interferes with the slower controlled process of stating the color. The presence and absence of ornamentation markedly contrast the two houses. Stereotyped, uniplanar ornaments distinguish the Chuori n kan house. The double crisscross grilles in doors and windows are based on the supports of the punched aluminum rain sutters. Stripes in the exterior walls suggest columns. Inside circular and curved lines are repeated in the round window in the master bedroom and in the bench back and the round table in the I iving room. These designs are not quotations from any specific architecture but completely ordinary applications of stereotyped motifs. Practically the only ornamental touch in the Koganei house is the horizontal strip windows. They are considered ornament in this case because they have transcended the personal style of Le Corbusier, who emp loyed them in his early period, and have become universally recognized symbols of the socalled international style. • 21. Game Of Thrones Patriarchy Quotes In Game of Thrones every character is tortured in their own right. Some characters are simply ridiculed in front of nobility, while others are forced to walk the streets of the city naked. Arguably, Sansa Stark is one of the characters that receive the most unfortune. Sansa Stark, a naive, idealistic girl from the North, hoped to marry the prince of her dreams, instead, her father was killed in front of her, she was married twice to two sadistic men, and was raped in one of the most controversial moments of the show. Sansa s subject to unfortunate events makes readers and viewers alike ask, will Sansa ever escape her bad luck? She is determined to take back her home (Winterfell) and reunite the remaining members of her family. Should Sansa accomplish her goal of taking back her home, she presumably would become queen of the North, which would be a severe blow to the patriarchy of Game of Thrones. The patriarchy in modern terms is characterised by current and historic unequal power relations between women and men whereby women are systematically disadvantaged and oppressed (2). Sansa becoming the queen of the North, would in a sense put her in a standing equal to those of men (or even higher than some). The only obstacle that stand in the way of Sansa, is her sadistic husband, Ramsay Bolton, who has taken her over her home and recently took her younger brother hostage. Ramsay Bolton is the epitome of the patriarchy, he is the warden (ruler) of the North and was the one that raped Sansa. Ramsay sees humans as toys and brutally tortures and subsequently flays them. Sansa s decision to stand up against Ramsay shows her strength: instead of remaining a rape victim, Sansa decides to take action. In a world filled with men in power, Sansa no longer see herself as subservient object as she did in the previous seasons. Sansa is ready to take on the patriarchy and assert herself to ultimately play the game of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The question is perpetual, Is government spying necessary to curtail terrorist acts? The NSA contributed to the Nation s work in breaking German and Japanese codes during WWII. The information collected was to be used for national foreign intelligence and counterintelligence purposes and to support military operations. It s from the Limulidae family and more commonly found along the northern Atlantic coast of North America. The horseshoe crab makes use of different habits depending on it s current stage of development. They lay there eggs on the coastal beaches during the late spring and summer. Once the eggs hatch, the young horseshoe crabs are found offshore, within sandy areas of tidal flats. Adult horseshoe crabs are found in deeper parts of the ocean waters (National Wildlife Federation). Dart is a multi purpose, garbage collected, class based, programming language that borrows the same C like syntax as many modern programming languages out there. Dart was originally developed by Google and released on 2011. [1] The main usages of Dart are four; compiled as JavaScript to run in the Chromium web browser, stand alone by using the Dart Virtual Machine, and ahead of time compiled into machine code. In other to run on the main stream web browsers, Dart relies on a source to source compiler to JavaSript , which is basically a type of compiler that takes the source code in one language as input, and output a source code in another language. This is the opposite to tradicional compilers, which translate between a high level language to a lower level, while source to source translate to a langauge within the same level of abstraction. In some cases, code written in Dart can run faster than the same code written using JavaScript. [1] [2] The Dart SDK brings a modified version of Chromium that includes a Dart VM which allows to run Dart on this browser. In my opinion, I believe that the target of Dart s designers is to substitute JavaScript in the future. By allowing source to source compilation and integrating a Dart VM to the Chromium browser, I beleive this is an attempt to make people use Dart instead of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is a wide range of computing environments and products that support these environments, with each one having distinctive security needs. Computing systems must have the flexibility to support many diverse types of security operating systems. This is the crux of the problem that has facilitated research into finding a system that is multi faceted and able to provide fine grained controls identifying who has access to which levels of data, determine which users have permission to information based on policies and procedures, and revoke access rights that had been established previously. The Flask model prototype has proven to meet the needs for an operating system that contains policy flexibility. It has a security policy server capable of making determinations about who has access and to what extent. Moreover, the Flask security system is able to split mechanism and policy with a fuller set of safety measures to be maintained with diminished requirements for policy specific modifications. The Flask architecture cleanly separates the definition of the policy logic from the enforcement mechanism. The security policy logic is encapsulated within a separate component of the operating system with well defined interfaces for obtaining security policy decisions. • 27. Learning and Change in Organizations Learning and Change in Organizations We live in a dynamic world with constantly varying conditions and aspects that influence how we make business operations and manage resources. The varying conditions in different circumstances require a level of understanding that is made possible through learning. This essentially means that learning consistent with the varying condition is in order to stay in touch and articulate matters appropriately. Business operations cannot be expected to carry on in the similar ways as in the past with no considerations of what is happening in the modern world (Pless, 2007). Learning is a process of discovery that generates new understanding about ourselves and the world around us. Strategic learning is organizational learning that improves the strategic capability of the organization and changes the basic assumptions underlying the stable generation mechanism that structures the strategic behavior design process. Organizations have various levels of knowledge and learn at all levels (Stein Nelson, 2003). The levels of organizational learning interact, making higher order learning such as strategic learning problematic. Change resulting from learning need not be visibly behavioral. Learning may result in new and significant insights and awareness that dictate no behavioral change. In this sense the crucial element in learning is that the organism be consciously aware of differences and alternatives and have consciously chosen one of these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
