Vincent Van Gogh Research Papers
Vincent Van Gogh was a post impressionist painter, born in the Netherlands on March 30, 1853.
He died on July 29, 1890, in France at the age of 37. Sadly, Vincent was poor and virtually
unknown his entire life. Currently his work is known for its beauty, emotion, and color, and
although he tried many times never sold a single painting. Van Gogh struggled with mental
illness, despite this, his work highly influenced 20th century art and still wildly popular today.
Van Gogh s passion for art likely began as a child. His mother, Anna Cornelio Carbentus, was an
emotional artist, with a love of nature, drawing and watercolors. As a child Van Gogh was a
mildly sad child. At ag 15, his family was having financially issues, and was forced to leave
school to work. He got a job working for his Uncle Cornelis, at and art dealership, Goupil Cie.
Van Gogh, by this point, was already fluent in French, German, and English, and of course
Dutch. In June of 1873, Van Gogh was transferred to the Groupil Gallery in London. When he
did, he fell in love with the English culture. He enjoyed reading Charles Dickens and George
Eliot, and visited art galleries whenever he could. He as well fell in love with his landlady s
daughter, Eugenie Loyer, who he proposed to. When she turned him down he completely broke
down, throwing away all his book... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though he was raised by a religious family, this is when he really started to consider
devoting his life to the church. Wishing to become a minister. He tried several other times to
start a career, but either refused to take the final exams, or was disliked by the committee. It wasn
t until the fall of 1880 that Van Gogh decided to become and artist. He moved to Brussels to
pursue his goal. Vincent s younger brother Theo, an art dealer, wanted to support him financially.
He began studying books like Travaux des chanps, and Course de

Hazing And Sororitys
The article that I have selected is about hazing and how it is heavily associated with greek
fraternity and sororitys across the U.S. Hazing is the act of any activity expected of someone that
joins a group and has the potential to humiliates, degrades, abuses, comprise safety, or inflicts pain
until its victims (Richardson, Wang, Hill, 2012). Hazingas a form of initation into these fratertinities
and sorriorites and the behavior is highly anticpitate and welcomed as for many it is look at as a
form of handed down tradition. Which brings us to the theory of reasoned action and it having
much to do with an individuals positive or negative feelings about performing a behavior. Many

Christian Faith Reflection
1. What do Jesus Christ and the Christian faith mean to you? How does your faith affect the way
you live?
My faith journey has been a long, gradual process of learning to know and follow Jesus as I grew
up in a local Mennonite church and a Christian family. The transition of going to college has
pushed me the most. Having independence put me in the situation to make all of my own
choices. Do I wake up and go to church? Do I go to chapel? How do I navigate choices around
alcohol use or dating? How does my faith inform these areas of life? I take the answers to these
questions seriously. One of the areas where I have grown and continue to grow is through the
classes I have taken. My classes have pushed me to consider what I believe and why I accept
certain things as true. My concentration on peace and conflict studies often leads to meaningful
class discussions where I am challenged to connect my faith to politics, economics, social issues,
and conflicts around the world.
I believe that it is important to actively live out a lifestyle that can be seen in Jesus s teachings and
the way he lived his life. I also look towards others who have a good grasp on what Christianity
means. I am fortunate enough to have many friends and family who represent how you can live a
life of following Jesus. Outside of these personal connections, two other prominent influences are
the popular speakers and authors Bob Goff and Shane Claiborne. Bob Goff talks and writes about
how love does and

Juvenile Crimes Are Classified As Juvenile Delinquents
In the United States children and adolescents that partake in illegal behavior or commit crimes are
classified as juvenile delinquents. Those who are tried by the juvenile court system and continue
their illegal behavior are classified as repeat offenders. Juvenile crime can be either status offenses,
like under age drinking and range to violent crime, such as rape, aggravated assault, and even
property crimes. In many cases juveniles commit heinous acts that one would think only an adult is
capable of doing, this leads to sentences of life without parole.
In the past juveniles have been sentenced to life without parole, recent U.S. Supreme Court cases
have abolished this aw stating it violates their rights. Even though it reduces the recidivism

William Shakespeare s King Lear Essay
William Shakespeare s King Lear In William Shakespeare s tragedy, King Lear, the issue of sight
on many levels is a recurring theme. Throughout the play Shakespeare shows that sight does not
just come from the eyes. It is shown through the characters of Lear, Gloucester and how they
compare to each other. Lear s character is one that never learns what it means to see without
ones eyes. Lear s sight is hazed because of his lack of ability to see inside of people, he can not tell
who they really are. When Lear is angered by Cordelia, Kent tries to reason with Lear, who is too
angry and upset to have an open mind. Lear responds to Kent s opposition with, Out of my sight!,
to which Kent... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lear s sight is also tainted by his lack of direction and by not being able to see the consequences
of his actions. This, as well as his lack of insight into people, causes the fall out of his
relationship with his daughter Cordelia. When Lear asks his daughters who loves him the most,
he thinks this will be Cordelia. However when Cordelia says, I love your majesty/According to
my bond, no more nor less (I.i.94 95), Lear can not see past the words, all he hears is the words,
not the meaning behind them. He does not hear the words with his heart. Goneril and Regan are
putting on an act, when they talk of their love for Lear and Lear thinks that they love him
because he likes the words they use. Unfortunately for Lear, they do not love him as much as
they claim to. When Cordelia hears their bragging she holds her words because she does not
want her true feelings compared to their lies. Lear however does not see the meaning of the
words that Goneril and Regan are putting forth and feels that they love him and Cordelia does
not. Kent, who can see what is actually going on, knows that Cordelia is the only one of the three
daughters that truly loves Lear. He tries to get Lear to understand this by saying, Answer my life
my judgment,Thy youngest daughter does not love thee least (I.i.153 154). Lear however can not
see past what his eyes are telling him, and becomes

Dada s Contribution to Contemporary Art
Dada and its impact on Contemporary Art According to the Oxford Dictionary of art, Dada was
A movement in European art (with manifestations also in New York), c.1915 c.1922,
characterized by a spirit of rebellious revolt against traditional values. It arose from a mood of
cynicism engendered by the First World War, to which some artists reacted with, cynicism,
sarcasm and nihilism. Gathering in Hugo Balls Cabaret Voltaire for spontaneous readings,
performances and exhibitions, a group of early avant gardes mainly of German and French origin,
formed the organization known as Dada. (Justin Wolf s Dada) Numerous explanations were given
for the group s name, Dada, which in French means Hobby Horse. The most... Show more content

This can sometimes seem odd to the public who does not see its values and heroic stature,
resulting in art not being noticed and appreciated by collectors, galleries and museums but
judged as a masterpiece by people who share the artist feelings and thoughts. Based on the
research above, we saw how Dada was formed, its members, its major centres, and major work
and how it led to the birth of the Surrealism, which ultimately had a positive direct effect on art of
the 21st century and how it is viewed, thus making contemporary art what it is today.

Factors Contribute Toward Increasing Job Satisfaction And
factors contribute toward increasing job satisfaction and motivating an employee into a higher
performance. Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs Theory:
This theory follows a category of needs that need to be fulfilled for an individual to feel satisfied.
Maslow s categorizes them in a hierarchical order where there are low tier needs that are basic and
have to be fulfilled in order to satisfy the upper tier needs that are more important. This aspect
explains the motivation theory as one is determined to satisfy the low tier needs and motivated to
satisfy the upper and luxurious needs. These five needs are as follow (Jerome, 2013):
Physiological needs: these are the basic for needs amenities of life such as air, food, water, and ...

Expectancy Theory:
Vroom s expectancy theory is different from the content theories of Maslow and Herzberg.
Expectancy theory is based on a result of conscious choices among alternatives that reflects
individual distinction in performance motivation (Lunenburg, 2011). it further states that there are a
relationships between the effort put at a work and the result of their performance from that effort
such as rewards. expectancy is the estimate of the performance level expected in relation to the
effort put. It ranges between 0 and 1. Valence on the other hand is the strength either positive or
negative of an employee s preference towards a promised reward. It ranges from 1 to +1. When this
is factored in instrumentality; the estimate that a certain performance causes varying work
outcomes, the formula for motivation is obtained. Motivation = Expectancy x Instrumentality x
Valence
(Including the 4 assumptions of the expectancy theory) (Lunenburg, 2011)
The expectancy theory however, has its own methods of employee motivation. Effort to
performance expectancy encourages leaders to increase their faith in employees that they will
complete the job. Increasing training, hiring qualified employees, providing enough time and
suggesting improvements to the tasks promote effort to performance expectancy. Performance to
reward expectancy encourages employers to

Doctor Ivanich s Flawed In The District Doctor
Physicians are Flawed Heroes: Vulnerable to Human Imperfections The Father of Modern
Medicine, William Osler, once stated The good physician treats the disease; the great physician
treats the patient who has the disease. Could a famous physician be vulnerable as well to a doctor
patient relation? Nobody is impeccable and every person has their unique tragic flaws. It is widely
known that computers calculate mathematical operations much faster than humans because they
only have one job, justly, if physicians were not distracted and focused on one mission only: to
rehabilitate their patient, the job would be completed much quicker and much more efficiently. The

A physician must always do their best at improving the patient s welfare, which can be achieved
efficiently, if they hold all their feelings aside until the patient is fully rehabilitated. The relationship
found in the short story, between Aleksandra Andreyevna and Trifon Ivanich is unethical.
Now...yes, now I can tell you that I thank you with my whole heart...that you are kind and good that
I love you! (Turgenev 133). The affection of the doctor towards the patient might have influenced
the final outcome of her welfare, as it is stated in the story that Aleksandra only took medicine from
the doctor himself. Possibly the doctor gave her too little or too much medicine, the readers will
never know, but the conclusion is the same: the medication did not work. If the doctor was not in
love, perhaps he would have noticed that the prescriptions did not help and maybe he could have
still saved the young woman. Therefore, doctors are defenceless against human sentiments, in Ivan
Turgenev s story, the sentiment is love. This a huge blemish for doctors and physicians, because a
patient s life is endangered whenever a patient s treatment is interspersed with human

The Effects Of Poverty On Indigenous People
Without land and control of their assets, Indigenous Peoples are destined to remain the world s
poorest communities with the worst health, highest mortality rate and shortest life span ( The
Indigenous Movement ). The Indigenous Peoples Movement works to acquire legal protection and
works to raise awareness towards the indigenous peoplescauses globally. Indigenous peoples are
generally defined as individuals who belong to a highly conservative, culturally and linguistically
different non dominant social group, distinct from the modernly dominant society hoping to
maintain that separation with the superior culture. In addition, their cultures and traditional
practices have been harmed over the centuries complications arising from the European... Show

These three factors, chronologically, are catalyzed in a domino effect commonly experienced by
indigenous peoples, thus being responsible for the high suicide rates. Statistical evidence for Latin
America indicates more than 80 percent of the region s indigenous peoples are still living in abject
poverty, a trend that has changed little since the early 1990s ( Latin America ). Because of the
rising poverty states, among the indigenous communities, a portion of the indigenous have resorted
to violent crimes. Opponents against helping indigenous peoples believe that the activities of the
indigenous risk the safety of the dominant societies, and thus should not be helped provoking
thoughts derived from observing the rising number of aboriginal peoples incarcerated in Australia
over the years: an exponential growth rate for indigenous incarceration has flooded the prisons with
a numerable quantity of indigenous peoples . It is understandable that one would conclude such an
alleged claim only by seeing the statistical facts, but without further investigation of the causes for
incarceration, many crucial details are absent that turn the tides of the argument towards an
advocacy for legislative and judicial systems to intrude and elicit repairs for legal complexities
associated with indigenous peoples. Procuring legislative support could decrease the numbers of
poverty struck indigenous communities and effect an ameliorable change in their social standing,
thus projecting a more respectful and less hostile view by the dominant

Child Soldiers in India
The military use of young children takes three distinct forms: children can take direct part in
hostilities (child soldiers), or they can be used in support roles such as porters, spies, messengers,
look outs, and sexual slaves; or they can be used for political advantage either as human shields or
in propaganda.
Throughout history and in many cultures, children have been extensively involved in military
campaigns even when such practices were supposedly against cultural morals. Since the 1970s a
number of international conventions have come into effect that try to limit the participation of
children in armed conflicts, nevertheless the Coalition to Stop the Use of Child Soldiers reports that
the use of children in military forces, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

part in military and other training on a voluntary basis. Although not obliged to sign up for

to the army, navy or air force as well as auxiliary forces. Cadets were involved in relief operations
in southern India following the 2004 Asian tsunami. * Child recruitment and deployment
The lack of systematic birth registration, particularly in rural areas, made it difficult to verify ages,
making it impossible to rule out the possibility that under 18s might participate actively in
hostilities. There were active recruitment drives targeting youths , particularly in the Kashmir
valley. * Detention of children
There was evidence that in areas of armed conflict children accused of being members of armed
groups were detained, often in violation of national legislation designed to protect children in
conflict with the law. In Manipur it was alleged that the system established under the Juvenile
Justice Act 2000 was non functioning due to inadequate resources; in particular no juvenile home
had been established. As a result, security forces (including police) who detained children in anti
insurgency operations were reportedly claiming that they were over 18 when

After some struggle, the idea for Lie of Pi came to Martel. His second novel was published in 2001.

The Pros And Consequences Of The Revolutionary War
The CPM had learnt from bitter experience to become smarter, more subtle and sophisticated, more
pragmatic and aware of its limitations and by withdrawing modestly to the background, Too
commented. (7)
From there, it directed and manipulated ambitious and unscrupulous surrogates to create trouble,
thus making it extremely difficult for the security agencies to identify and take proper action
against such communist agents.
When sufficient trouble had been created, even by apparently non communists or anti communists,
a revolutionary situation would be created and the time would become ripe for the revolutionary

message which had presaged the outbreak of the second insurgency (1968 1980).
In a more militant editorial broadcast on the 37th anniversary of its post war insurrection on June
1985, the CPM again spoke with a forked tongue, talking peace and calling for war. (11)
The editorial called for continuing the revolutionary war in so called defence of democracy and
freedom against the guns and cannons of a handful of reactionaries supported by the British
imperialists. Its objective was to achieve a new leap forward (Mao s language).
The CPM also called for popular resistance to stop the counter revolutionary war. In other words, the
Government should stop its anti insurgent operations while the CPM was planning for another

The Debate Over The Internet
The Internet in the year 2009. We send e mails, make calls over the internet and discuss topics
we take an interest in. Even our banking is going virtual. But what we take for granted today
was only a vague idea fifty years ago. In order to understand how we got this far Let s go back to
1957, when everything began. Before 1957 computers only worked on one task at a time. This is
called batch processing. Of course, this was quite ineffective. With computers getting bigger and
bigger they had to be stored in special cooled rooms. But then the developers couldn t work directly
on the computers anymore specialists had to be called in to connect them. Programming at that
time meant a lot of manual work and the indirect connection to the computers led to a lot of bugs,
wasting time and fraying the developersВґ nerves. The year 1957 marked a big change. A remote
connection had to be installed so the developers could work directly on the computers. At the
same time the idea of time sharing came up. This is the first concept in computer technology to
share the processing power of one computer with multiple users. On October 4th 1957, during the
Cold War The first unmanned satellite, Sputnik 1, was sent into orbit by the Soviet Union. The
fear of a Missile Gap emerged. In order to secure America s lead in technology, the US founded
the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency in February 1958. At that time, knowledge was
only transferred by people. The DARPA planned a

Essay On King Kamehameha
Effective Leader Essay Hawaii is now known as a tropical paradise, but it wasn t always so
simple. Thousands of years ago the islands were constantly fought over. Until one day,
Kamehameha the Great conquered all of the islands becoming Hawaii s first king. As Hawaii s
first king, Kamehameha led his own path. Kamehameha was an effective leader because he was
intelligent, was an effective communicator, and adapted to new ideas. One reason why
Kamehameha was a good leader was because he was intelligent in a way that others weren t. As
sandalwood grew in popularity Kamehameha knew he had to preserve the sandalwood trees for
future generations. This led Kamehameha to place a kapu on the young sandalwood trees, so they
would be saved for the future. This was one of the many new changes Kamehameha made to the
islands. Placing a kapu on the trees was a beneficial change because not... Show more content on

due to port fees. Then all of the sudden Kamehameha decided to take the idea of port fees back to

port fees, the Hawaiian s made profits that benefited their communities. The port fees proved to be
extremely useful due to the fact that dozens of ships docked at Hawaii as a stopover.
Kamehameha was an effective leader because he was intelligent, he was an effective
communicator, and he adapted to new ideas. Throughout his rule, Kamehameha was able to
achieve a profitable business, a beautiful island, and a kapu to help future generations prosper.
Therefore he was respected, wealthy, and powerful. Kamehameha was able to bring peace to

Transgender In The Military
Transgender in the Military
Being a part of the United States military is easier said than done. To become a part of the military,
it takes extreme levels of strength both physically and mentally. Each member must be at their
highest potential in order to effectively complete each mission. Each member of the military should
have no medical or mental distractions, because this may harm the effectiveness of the mission, or
even the member.
There are countless factors that may disqualify a person from being a part of the United States
military due to mental or physical conditions. Each member is greatly appreciated for their service
to this country regardless of their race, religion, or sexual preferences, but are transgender
individuals mentally and physically fit to fight?
When arriving to basic military training in hopes to become a part of the military, each person is
first separated into groups based on whether they are a male or female. These are the groups that
each person will spend the entirety of their time in basic military training with. With these groups,
they will eat, sleep, shower, work out, and complete numerous other activities. It is not easy to get
used to showering and changing in front of fifty other people, even if they are the same gender. If a
transgender individual was placed into the mix, this would make those activities even more
uncomfortable for others, and that same individual would feel out of place. Recruits in basic

Nazi Aryan Race Theory Essay
In the Holocaust not only were the Jews killed so were a group of people called the Gypsies. 1
million to 4 million Gypsies were killed in the worst ways with no remorse. But why would this
happen to the Gypsies if they didn t do anything? They didn t consider the Gypsies Germans. The
reason all this started was because of a theory that the Germans made. Nazi Aryan Racial Theory
is known as a racial designation; Houston Stewart Chamberian was the first to use the term Aryan
to mean the white race it was the Aryans who invaded the conquered ancient India from the north.
The Aryan Race Theory was a way that Germans were segregated in many different ways. This

Gypsies were also different because they didn t let their kids go to public schools. Or they didn
t go to local churches. Romany was also a group of people that were in tribes, not all the tribes
were the same they each had their own different costoms, beliefs, leaders, and dialects. The
Germans started this theory because they changed the word Aryan into a noun. Gypsies were the
most effected because even before the Nazis took over the government, they wanted to find a good
reason why they should eliminate the Gypsies wether they had the power or not. The Nazis found
that calling the Gypsies asocial elements and also making them irrelevant to normal society, could
help in eliminating them. Germans were also told that they would endangered the purity of Aryan
blood and the public health. But it all got worse when in 1920 they had changed the label of the
Gypsies to worthless life. Later on in 1928 when Weimar constitution was still ruling Germany,
everyone had equal rights. But the Germans had passed a law that all Gypsies were under
permanent critical police observation. Rehabilitation camps were the first places where Gypsies
older than 16 would be placed, so they would be out of

It has been rightly said by someone The price of freedom is eternal vigilance. Eternal vigilance for

it can be said that Citizen is the person who represents the country legally and Citizenship
describes the status of belonging somewhere and it implies both rights and responsibilities

They show a positive relationship between proactive Corporate Citizenship and Employee s
Commitment.
Organizational citizenship is a concept that all companies wish to have but very few can actually
achieve. It is rooted in individual employees view of the company and how they associate
themselves with it.
Some of the examples of Organizational Citizenship are as follows:
Assisting coworkers: An employee can take time from their work to help another to get their job
done, as they know it s important to the company and to the other employee. We have all
potentially had situations where others pitched in to get a job done that had nothing to do with
their specific job, outside of wanting to help the company and a fellow worker.
Working for the future: So many employees look at what they are going to get right now and do
not look far into the future. Those who practice organizational citizenship believe there will be
rewards down the road and do not focus on the short term; rather, they focus on the long term. This
viewpoint also makes them long term employees, which are desirable to any company.
Being a company representative: When some employees leave for the day, the company they
represent stays behind them in the office. An organizational citizen represents their company 24/7
and has no problem talking to others about how their company might help them.
Thus, it can be said that organizational citizenship is the

As two separate companies, they have established a different approach towards the market,
however with the right research and evaluation, Rousteing and The Bay have beautifully
managed to make both sides collide with success. They have managed to design ready to wear
for different target groups, for example, women s outerwear shoes, men s business attire,
jewellery, as well as the latest Balmain Army collection inspired by Rousteing himself. They
have made the price range of the products in the listed categories reasonable and affordable for
premium quality clothing, accessories and footwear for both genders that are quality and price
conscious. Also, in Toronto and Vancouver, The Bay has launched a showroom called The Room
that features some of Balmain s hottest but not so retail friendly designer clothing from
Rousteing s runway collection. With the stratospheric prices, these items are obviously in display
for the more sophisticated young female adults that completely disregard the price tag when they
see something they genuinely adore. However, this was also an intelligent way for Rousteing
and The Bay to promote their collection by giving the people of middle class families to feel and
take a closer glimpse of some high quality handiwork. This makes the women of the demographic
target market want to know what else Balmain has in store at The Bay, that is of similar quality, but

Selecting An Real Estate Agent Essay
Buying Resale Properties
If you are looking to buy a private property or HDB flat in Singapore, make sure that you know
all the pitfalls before you sign on the dotted line. Here are some of the major things you should
look out for to avoid getting into a legal or financial tangle during the transaction.
Selecting an Real Estate Agent
You need to select an agent to service you. Find one who is familiar with the location and type of
property you have in mind. Make sure the agent is from a Listed Housing Agency and also a
member of the Institute of Estate Agents (IEA). Discuss your requirements with him and be
specific. This will allow him to advise and service you in a professional manner.
Ownership
Always ensure that the seller is the actual owner of the property. You may wish to request for proof
when you are making the purchase.
Eligibility to sell
Ensure that the seller of the property is eligible to sell the property. For a private property that is
mortgaged to a bank, if the seller has lost money on the sale, and is unable to top up the shortfall on
his bank loan, the bank may not allow the seller to go through with the transaction.
For an HDB flat (except one room flats), there is a minimum occupation period whereby the
seller must physically occupy the flat before he would be eligible to sell the flat. For a flat
bought directly from the HDB or a resale flat bought with a CPF housing grant, the seller must
physically occupy the flat for five years before he can sell

Hobbes Vs Rousseau
Throughout history, many people have had very different ideas about how governments should
be run. Of those many people, four had very important ideas about government. Those four
people were Charles de Secondat Baron de Montesquieu, Jean Jacques Rousseau, Thomas
Hobbes, and John Locke. Montesquieu believed that laws were necessary but varied for each
area for their own conditions; Rousseau believed in self directed law and freedom through giving
themselves to others; Hobbes also believed that laws were necessary but that mankind could not
thrive if they lived in a world of war; and John Lockeexpounded that laws should only be created
with the consent of the people and that a man truly can t sign away his life. These influential

He made this evident in The Leviathan. In this document, Hobbes wrote about how men were
more equal than they realized, although from this equality came the same longing for attaining
our goals. However, when two people long the same thing, it can lead to war. When there is war,
Hobbes claims, there is no place for productive labor, thus leading to Earth losing culture. There
is no society, no arts, no account of time, no more exports over sea. Although, Hobbes says the
worst part of war is the continuous fear and the danger of violent death. He believes war ruins
mankind. In Two Treatises on Government, John Locke stated that societal rules and laws
should be created by the consent of the people through a trusted legislature. No laws should be
permitted if the people do not agree to it. In this work John Locke also proclaimed that one
cannot obtain someone else s power unless the power is given or forfeited, such as through death.
He viewed slavery as a war due to it not being consensual. No man can truly sign his own life

Evaluation Of A New Hybrid Strategy
Abstract
Testing is an important process in software development and widely used by developers to reveal
bugs. Often, software failures can lead to disastrous consequences such as loss of data, fortune and
lives. Test engineers have generated a set of test cases to validate against the user requirements. The
highest number of reduction can save a cost of testing. When dealing with a large line of code
(LOCs) there still has redundancy happened. Our experiment studies about hybrid tReduct
GNA_SA and the existing strategies to counter test redundancy reduction issues. In our experiment,
we apply four (tReductLAHC, tReductSA, tReductGNA and tReduct GNA_SA) test suite reduction
strategies for six different situation. After that, we then measure the effectiveness of the diversified
solutions of four test suite reduction strategies. Our experiment shows that a new hybrid strategy
tReduct GNA_SA offers more effectiveness to reduce redundancy compared to existing work.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Speed Control Of Induction...
Abstract The three phase squirrel cage induction motor is the most widely used motor type in the
industry because of its good self starting capability, simple and rugged structure, low cost and
reliability. In spite of this popularity, the induction motor has two basic limitations: (i) The
standard motor is not a true constant speed machine, its full load slip varies from less than 1% (in
high horsepower motors) to more than 5% (in fractional horsepower motors), and (ii) It is not
inherently capable of providing variable speed operation. The limitations of induction motor can be
solved through the use of adjustable speed control method of induction machine. In this paper,
various method of speed control of induction motor drive are presented.... Show more content on

Switching power converters offer an easy way to regulate both the frequency and magnitude of
the voltage and current applied to a motor shown in fig(1). As a result much higher efficiency and
performance can be achieved by these motor drives with less generated noises[3]. Figure 1
Variable Voltage Variable Frequency Control Schematic The most common principle of this kind is
the constant V/Hz principle which requires that the magnitude and frequency of the voltage applied
to the stator of a motor maintain a constant ratio. By doing this, the magnitude of the magnetic
field in the stator is kept at an approximately constant level throughout the operating range. Thus,
(maximum) constant torque producing capability is maintained. When transient response is
critical, switching power converters also allow easy control of transient voltage and current
applied to the motor to achieve faster dynamic response. II. METHODS OF SPEED CONTROL
OF INDUCTION MOTOR Mathematically, relation between speed of induction motor and
synchronous speed can be stated as, n = (1 s) ns where n_s=120f/P which implies that there are
two basic ways of speed control, namely Slip control for fixed synchronous speed. Control of

Theory of Constraints Essay
What is the Theory of Constraints?
The Theory of Constraints is an organizational change method that is focused on profit
improvement. The essential concept of TOC is that every organization must have at least one
constraint. A constraint is any factor that limits the organization from getting more of whatever it
strives for, which is usually profit. The Goal focuses on constraints as bottleneck processes in a job
shop manufacturing organization. However, many non manufacturing constraints exist, such as
market demand, or a sales department s ability to translate market demand into orders.
The Theory of Constraints defines a set of tools that change agents can use to manage constraints,
thereby increasing profits. Most businesses can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Goldratt advocates that all improvement opportunities should be prioritized by their effect on the

market size.
How Does Lean Thinking Compare to the Theory of Constraints?
Lean thinking is an organizational change method that is also implemented with the objective of
increasing profit. Lean thinking originated in Japan, and is best exemplified by the Toyota
Production System. Constraints placed on the Japanese manufacturing industry after the second
world war lead Taiichi Ohno of Toyota to pioneer a new type of production system that was so
different, and so much better, than mass production, as to warrant a new type manufacturing. Lean
production is a method of organizing production using half the effort, space, inventory, and product
development time compared with mass production. It also achieves fewer defects, and larger
product variety. These improvements should result in increased sales, which is the key to re
deploying freed up resources. Lean thinking codified and expanded upon the Toyota Production
System to include non manufacturing organizations, as well as product development efforts.
The objective of lean thinking, as with TOC, is to increase profit. This is

Evil Vs Secularism
The issue of evil is the favorite point on which secularists hang their atheistic argument.
The secularist rejection is based on the supposed contradiction of the existence of a God, who is
omnipotent, omniscient, and omnibenevolent on the one hand, and the existence of evil, on the
other hand. Epicurus stated the incompatibility of belief in a God with those attributes against the
undeniable reality of evil this way: God either wishes to take away evils, and is unable; or he is
able and unwilling; or he is either willing nor able, or he is both willing and able. Epicurus then
attempts to work out each of the stated possibilities in the following way:
1.If God is willing and is unable, he is feeble, which is not in accordance with the character of God.
2.If he is able and unwilling, he is envious [meaning: evil], which is equally at variance with God.
3.If he is neither willing nor able he is both envious [meaning evil] and feeble, and therefore not
God.
4.If he is both willing and able, which alone is suitable to God, from what source then are evils or
why does he not remove them?
The Christian explanation for the issue of evil can be broken into two major ... Show more content

creating various angelic beings as well as humans. God decided to create them with freewill
instead of being robotic in nature. Because God gave them freewill and intellect, they could
experience self will, emotion, and creativity. Dr. Waita points out that as intellectual, they had the

The Linguistic Results Of Language Contact
Through looking at patterns of social interaction of different languages it is easy to predict the
linguistic results of language contact. This could be seen through multilingualism which is a result
of language contact between multiple different languages. Multilingualism can create diglossia
which helps display the multilingualismof a country or community and helps show it is useful for
predicting the results of language contact. Code switching in which people switch from one
language to another depending on the situation, helps show how social interaction between

All these reasons result in social interaction between speakers of different language, which helps
predict language contact may result in multilingualism. It is estimated that over half of all countries
are multilingual. An example of a multilingual society is Switzerland with three main languages:
French, German and Italian and each language is dominant area of its own. John Edwards believes
that everyone is bilingual, even if someone can only speak or understand, he believes that you have
some command of a foreign tongue therefore there is no clear monolingual country. Therefore
multilingualism is useful in showing how the social interaction between people of different
languages help us predict the linguistic results of language contact as it is an example of what
happens when multiple languages exist and interact in the same country.
In multilingual countries, diglossia occurs, which is the result of language contact and social
interaction. This therefore helps shows how the patterns of social interaction between speakers of
different languages predict results of language contact as diglossia is a result of this and display the
countries multilingualism. Diglossia describes societal or institutionalised bilingualism, where two
varieties are required to cover all the community s domains. (Holmes, p.30) There are two
definitions of diglossia but it is Joshua Fishman s modification of Charles Ferguson s definition that

The Negative Impacts Of Food Inseecurity
Introduction
Millions of people every day do not know when they are going to eat their next meal. This brings
upon great stress to households as finding their next meal becomes the priority. The United States
defines this shortage of food in households as food insecurity. The U.S. Department of Agriculture
(USDA) has defined food insecurity as a lack of consistent access to enough food for an active,
healthy life (Coleman Jensen, Rabbitt, Gregory, Singh, 2017). Households that are food insecure
will often skip meals, eat low nutritious dense food, and face high stress levels of making food
last until they are able to buy more food for their home. Food insecurity is a serious issue that is
consistently overlooked and it needs more attention because it has a negative impact on the families.
Literature Review Food insecurity affects every community in the United States. About 12.3% of
U.S. households were considered food insecure in 2016 (United States Department of Agriculture
2017). This number has not changed much from the 12.7% it was in 2015. Food insecurity can
affect anyone, but certain groups are more vulnerable to this issue. For instance, low income
households, the elderly, children, and immigrants are at highest risk to be food insecure. In
particular, it is households with children that are most affected by food insecurity. The rate for these
households was higher than the national average at 16.5% for the year 2016 (United States

encompassing two (2) of the CII practices i.e. Materials Management and Change Management.
We have stated the processes and procedures to be used by the contractor in order to gain the
control of his projects, pertaining to material management and change management. By
implementing the procedures of materials management, he will be able to improve cash flow,
reduce bulk supplies, improve supplier performance, improve craft labor productivity, reduce risk

My Favorite Sport Essay
If you can imagine one thing and one thing only that can change a way a person feels, how they
think, and how they live, what would that thing be? For me I really couldn t answer that question,
as a little kid who s only thought was to have fun, all I cared about was playing video games and
watching cartoons. One day, my cousins came over to my house asking if they could watch
something on the TV, I said sure, so they turned on the TV and put on a documentary. At first I was
disinterested and wanted to go back to my usual habits, but I stayed and watched, I realized that the
documentarycontained the answer to my question and that answer was sports. Out of all the
sports, basketball became my guidance, it spoke to me in a way where it wasn t just an interest,
but a window of discovering who I am, what I love, and what I want to become. In that window of
time I would watch every basketball gameand practice my skills as a player. Watching NBA
players give their hearts out to the game of basketball brought me joy as well as the confidence and
determination to playand improve my skills to be just like them. My favorite player was Kobe
Bryant because he would play every game at the highest level he could play at and he had a killer
work ethic that a person would only dream of having. I would set an alarm at 10 a.m. to wake up
and start practicing because all I wanted was to be the best at something that means so much to me.

Frederick II Compare And Contrast Essay
Emperor Frederick II of Germany and King Louis IX of France were both important figureheads
of the crusades as they personally prepared for the departure and led the army to the Holy Land.
This indicated a transition of responsibility for crusading from the Church to royal figures. Even
though Louis IX s crusades failed and Frederick II s crusade gained control of the Holy Land,
Louis IX became a saint whereas Frederick II was declared the Antichrist. Therefore, the outcome
of the crusades led by both kings did not determine the public s approval and disapproval. Despite
failing both of his crusades, Louis IX became a saint because of his sincere intention and devotion

Essay on Plato s Theory of Knowledge
If the truth of all things always existed in the soul, then the soul is immortal (The Philosophical
Journey 89). This states that since the soul has all knowledge integrated, one recollects this
knowledge through situations in an individual s life and use one s reasoning. With the dialogues of
the Meno and Phaedo, Platodiscusses the ideas of recollection and immortality of the soul in
general. As well, the Republic, through the three different situations shown, Plato shows the ideas
of the forms and what is real and what is not.
In the dialogue of Meno, Socrates explains the idea of recollection with the question and answer
period between himself and the boy. Meno asks Socrates, What do you mean by saying that we do
not learn, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Socrates ponders this thought and explains that, His soul must have always possessed this
knowledge, for he either was or was not a man (The Philosophical Journey 89). This explains
that it is an innate notion, where the soul always has the knowledge and can be obtained through
remembering said knowledge. Therefore, Socrates believes that since the truth is always inside
the soul, then it must be immortal. The soul has all knowledge, and through the process of
recollection, one can recover this information. Phaedo, the second dialogue of Plato s theory,
states that only through the forms and absolutes, an individual can have knowledge. It has been
questioned how society can have the knowledge of an absolute if we haven t discovered said
absolute. Socrates reflects, The thing which I see aims at being like some other thing, but falls
short of and cannot be like that other thing, and is inferior (The Philosophical Journey 90). That is
to say that in order to have the understanding of an absolute of something, we can derive its
meaning from the things that do not meet the requirements. In addition, to derive the
conceptualization of an absolute, an individual can only use the senses one is given. As well,
Socrates declares, From the senses then is derived the conception that all sensible equals aim at an
absolute equality of which they fall short (The Philosophical Journey 90). As a result, the senses
can only see

Arrowhead Pharma is a company with several potential catalysts over the next two years that will
determine if they make it as a company. After the first quarter they only have $77 million in cash,
and they burned an average around $22 million a quarter in 2015. They are currently presenting
positive Phase I data at The International Liver Congress, which sent their shares up 12%

The Pardoner s Prologue Sparknotes
Does the way the story describes the Pardoner makes it seem as if he is a wholly vicious man? I
believe it does, from the start you can easily notice he is a very selfish person, yet he is supposed
to be a pastor and someone who tries to benefit the people of the church. Instead of fulfilling the
role God has put him in he would rather preach for his own benefits and bring sin upon the
church. In The Pardoner s Prologue, the story begins by explaining that the Pardoner is a man
who preaches and tries to sell his community salvation. He speaks on cupidity majority of the
time which is saying that greed is the root of evil. This is the first example of why he is a cruel
man. He is preaching lies to his people to make them feel bad and tricking them into giving
money to the church, telling people not to be greedy yet he is being greedy himself. Later on, he
tells us that he preaches only to gain money, he doesn t preach to try and bring the congregation
salvation or freedom from their sins. He even gets to the point where he thinks his sermons are
intended to be evil, to offend God and the community. Anyone who disagrees with what the
Pardoner says is believe to be wrong and influenced by evil intent. The reason the Pardoner does...

It goes on to say that the Pardoner s tongue will be a dagger to the people who hear his message,
he will speak to the congregation and they will feel pain. He will also spit venom towards the
people whose lies are called holiness. This is why it is so easy to classify the Pardoner as a
wholly vicious person, he is basically described as a snake and when people think of snakes it s
not a positive picture. A snake is something that is dangerous and scary, not happy and glorious.
The Pardoner is viciously coming for the pockets of the congregation and if anyone interferes,
there will be problems. There is no doubt that he is a wholly vicious man and that s been

Sterotyping in To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee Essay
Topic 1: Stereotyping. The novel, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is based on the experiences
of one girl, Scout, growing up in Maycomb, Alabama in the 1930s. The novel explains some
conflicts in Scout s life. Scout, the main character, learns that things are not always morally correct
and is confronted with the reality of prejudice and stereotyping. Scout struggles with understanding
the prejudice and stereotyping she witnesses. Atticus Finch, Scout s father, with his strongly held
convictions, wisdom, and empathy, Atticus functions as the novel s moral backbone. (2). Atticus
tries to raise his children to be fair and nonjudgmental. It is through the lessons of Atticus and Scout
s experiences with discrimination that the reader sees... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regardless of the lack of evidence, the jury and town are reluctant to take the word of a black
man over two white accusers. Atticus strongly pleads for the jury to look past race and
stereotypes and serve true justice, They were confident that you gentlemen would go along with
them on the assumption the evil assumption that all Negro s lie, and that all Negros are basically
immoral beings. ... I am confident that you gentlemen will review without passion the evidence
you have heard, come to a decision, and restore this defendant to his family. In the name of God,
do your duty. (1). Throughout this trial Scout not only witnesses prejudice and stereotyping, she
becomes the victim of several people throughout the book. When Scout arrives for her first day
of school, she meets Miss Caroline, a teacher from the north. Miss Caroline has predetermined
thoughts as to how the class should be taught and how the children should learn. When Scout
tells the teacher she can read and write, she is punished and told she should not learn outside of
school and that she is too young to be able to read and write. Scout was mad with Miss Caroline s
refusal to accept any other teaching method but her own. This shows how Scout was stereotyped
because she was from rural Alabama and the teacher stereotyped everyone to be dumber than
herself. When Scout is verbally abused because her father is defending Tom Robinson, she becomes

Advantages Of Direct Democracy
Direct Democracy There is a lot of controversy over which government is the best, and honestly I
don t think there really is a best form of government but I believe there that some are better than
others. Direct Democracy definitely has its flaws, it is the best option open to us at this time. It
gives the people the power to get what they want. America is already a form of Democracy, it s a
Representative Democracy. So direct Democracyis not too far fetched.
Direct democracy, also known as pure democracy, is where the people vote to on or form
consensus on policy initiatives directly. The word democracy literally means rule by the people .
The United States today is a representative democracy. Which is a democracy in which the people

From 1995 to 2005 swiss citizens voted over 30 different times, while the french citizens only
voted twice. In direct democracies the citizens have most of the power.
We want rights, freedom, and equality. But we also need some sort of structure. As people we
need a say in how we live our lives but we cannot just do as we please. We can t have the
government gaining too much power but we need to still be controlled. Harmony in all aspects
is what we are sought after, we want and need a balance. Direct democracy is a way to get
citizens involved and united. It helps keep the government transparent, you cannot make
promises to the people and then not keep them because you run the risk of the people removing
you from power. It holds everyone accountable, the officials to do what they promised and to fix
the problems within society and the people to keep their government going in the right direction.
The individual is foolish, the species is wise. (Burke). Together we are better. There are also
some pros to having a direct democracy, when the people want to see change, they appeal and they
vote. Which would truly be a government for the people, by the people , protecting our interests.
There is a checks and balances system that makes sure the power gets distributed. Democracy also
promotes equality, allows for change, doesn t put too much power in the hands

Where There s A Wall By Joy Kogawa
From reading this poem call Where There`s a Wall , by Joy Kogawa. I get this feeling that the
wall Kogawa is talking about in this poem, is a symbol that is used to represent a problem. This
is based on the facts that in the begin lines of the poem. Kogawa suggest many different options
by using literal imagery to try to overcome this obstacle in front of him. Kogawa evens mentions
in the beginning lines of the poem that where there is a wall there is a way around, over, through it
too. With this knowledge in mind. I can confidently say that Kogawa is using the wallas a symbol to
represent a problem, and the literal imagery Kogawa uses in this poem, is there to tell us that there
are more than one way to overcome a problem too.

1.6 Literature Review The proposal has been drawn on concepts such as value chain analysis and
approaches to achieve competitive advantages in an organization. It has been stated in researches
that the competitive advantages of an organization are specific to a country and the value chain are
a reflection of its history, its strategy, its approach to implementing its strategy and the underlying
economics of the activities themselves (Porter, 1986, 1985). Since ANZ has its business located in
several countries, value configuration will be a crucial step in analysing the geographical
dispersion of activities (Schmid and Groshe, 2008) . The research on how business reengineering is
beneficial while implementing an ICT solution will help in drawing an outline of how it will
proceed (Huo et al, 2010). 2. ANZ s International Business Strategy 2.1 Introduction International
Business Strategy can be referred to as a plan of action where the internationally scattered
subsidiaries of an organization act independently, with minimum coordination with the parent
company (Twarowska, 2013). Few of the incentives (UT Arlington) that an organization achieves by
expanding international business strategy are listed below: Increased market size: The customer
base for the organization increases drastically, facilitating mergers and joint ventures with country
specific businesses. Greater returns on investments: Discovering Low cost countries to acquire

The Importance Of Volunteering At Houston Foodbank
One of the most important and favorite healthcare related experience for me is volunteering at
the Houston Foodbank. I have done over 440 hours of volunteering at the Houston Foodbank.
Saving peoples lives by filling their pantries and those who are in need for food has been a blessing
for me to do. However, I am currently still volunteering and now a leader for the Student Heroes
Program for the Houston Foodbank. Many have told me I could not be a leader too soon unless you
are really dedicated to the program or you have to be a senior. Clearly then I have proved them
wrong by being dedicated to the program. Helping people has been an honor to me and I really
enjoy helping families in need for food. It makes me feel great to make people faces

Strict Dress Code
What Can I Wear
What can I wear to work? Some employers have a strict dress code, while others are very laid
back. According to the type of business, the organization does could dictate the type of attire and
grooming that is expected from the organization. Does the employer have a right to tell you what
you can and cannot wear to work or even how to be groomed? In my opinion and through my
experiences in life I would say yes they do, they have a business to run, and customers require
certain expectations and those expectations are handed down to the employees. Employee rights
must be taking into consideration in the process, along with other reasons for the policies
implemented such as setting guidelines for dress and grooming that could be ... Show more content

However, we have issues occasionally and we handle those swiftly and consistently with all
employees. If we did not have these guidelines in place, we would have employees showing up
in flip flops to move pallets and heavy boxes with a high risk of foot injuries. Others would be
caught in the buffing wheel due to a loose tank top that had been cut down the side. How do I
know this? The reason I know this is because even with the policy we have in place these few
incidents have happened and the employees in both of these situations that I mentioned actually
had the accident described.
In addition, different businesses would require different standards and could have a much stricter
dress code policy. Employees that have direct interaction with the public should be well groomed
and dressed appropriately. The more formal or professional the culture the need is greater for a
policy governing hygiene and grooming along with dress code. In addition, organizations that
require work with heavy machinery and dangerous machinery requires standards to satisfy safety
hazards (Sussman, 2017). Keep in mind that employees have rights that need to be taken into
consideration when policies are being

Bikram Yoga and Body Fitness
Body fitness is a state asserted to be highly essential in ensuring healthy living. It often realized
through regular physical exercises. Yoga is a technique that may be deemed an old means of
working out however recently most people adopt its use in as a way of ensuring they stay fit
and in shape. For instance, most sports personalities have added yoga to their working out
strategies. Similarly actors use the work out approach to ensure they stay in shape. These factors
along with my other yoga experiences have had me acknowledge the essence of Yoga as perceived
by the diverse individuals. On Sunday April 13, 2014 , I attended Bikram Yoga
class for my yoga
exercises known as hot yoga in Bikram yoga Montreal from 5:00pm to around 6:45 pm. This
session turned out to be an intense form of yoga practice because of the high heat .Initially, what
I knew of yoga was that it was only essential in ensuring physical fitness. However attending the
Bikram yoga class profoundly changed how I view and understand yoga. Bikram yoga is done
in an environment of a humidity of 40% with a temperature of close to 42 C degrees . During
this session, an individual is expected to shed off any heavy clothing and let the heat rise until
they feel it is hot enough. I saw the instructor turn on the fans sometimes but I didn t feel it. I was
wearing long sleeves so I felt very hot and a bit dizzy; we couldn t drink water unless the instructor

  • 2. Vincent Van Gogh Research Papers Vincent Van Gogh was a post impressionist painter, born in the Netherlands on March 30, 1853. He died on July 29, 1890, in France at the age of 37. Sadly, Vincent was poor and virtually unknown his entire life. Currently his work is known for its beauty, emotion, and color, and although he tried many times never sold a single painting. Van Gogh struggled with mental illness, despite this, his work highly influenced 20th century art and still wildly popular today. Van Gogh s passion for art likely began as a child. His mother, Anna Cornelio Carbentus, was an emotional artist, with a love of nature, drawing and watercolors. As a child Van Gogh was a mildly sad child. At ag 15, his family was having financially issues, and was forced to leave school to work. He got a job working for his Uncle Cornelis, at and art dealership, Goupil Cie. Van Gogh, by this point, was already fluent in French, German, and English, and of course Dutch. In June of 1873, Van Gogh was transferred to the Groupil Gallery in London. When he did, he fell in love with the English culture. He enjoyed reading Charles Dickens and George Eliot, and visited art galleries whenever he could. He as well fell in love with his landlady s daughter, Eugenie Loyer, who he proposed to. When she turned him down he completely broke down, throwing away all his book... It wasn t until the fall of 1880 that Van Gogh decided to become and artist. He moved to Brussels to pursue his goal. Vincent s younger brother Theo, an art dealer, wanted to support him financially. • 4. Christian Faith Reflection 1. What do Jesus Christ and the Christian faith mean to you? How does your faith affect the way you live? My faith journey has been a long, gradual process of learning to know and follow Jesus as I grew up in a local Mennonite church and a Christian family. The transition of going to college has pushed me the most. Having independence put me in the situation to make all of my own choices. Do I wake up and go to church? Do I go to chapel? How do I navigate choices around alcohol use or dating? How does my faith inform these areas of life? I take the answers to these questions seriously. One of the areas where I have grown and continue to grow is through the classes I have taken. My classes have pushed me to consider what I believe and why I accept certain things as true. My concentration on peace and conflict studies often leads to meaningful class discussions where I am challenged to connect my faith to politics, economics, social issues, and conflicts around the world. I believe that it is important to actively live out a lifestyle that can be seen in Jesus s teachings and the way he lived his life. I also look towards others who have a good grasp on what Christianity means. I am fortunate enough to have many friends and family who represent how you can live a life of following Jesus. Outside of these personal connections, two other prominent influences are the popular speakers and authors Bob Goff and Shane Claiborne. Bob Goff talks and writes about how love does and ... • 5. Juvenile Crimes Are Classified As Juvenile Delinquents In the United States children and adolescents that partake in illegal behavior or commit crimes are classified as juvenile delinquents. Those who are tried by the juvenile court system and continue their illegal behavior are classified as repeat offenders. Juvenile crime can be either status offenses, like under age drinking and range to violent crime, such as rape, aggravated assault, and even property crimes. In many cases juveniles commit heinous acts that one would think only an adult is capable of doing, this leads to sentences of life without parole. In the past juveniles have been sentenced to life without parole, recent U.S. Supreme Court cases have abolished this aw stating it violates their rights. Even though it reduces the recidivism ... • 6. William Shakespeare s King Lear Essay William Shakespeare s King Lear In William Shakespeare s tragedy, King Lear, the issue of sight on many levels is a recurring theme. Throughout the play Shakespeare shows that sight does not just come from the eyes. It is shown through the characters of Lear, Gloucester and how they compare to each other. Lear s character is one that never learns what it means to see without ones eyes. Lear s sight is hazed because of his lack of ability to see inside of people, he can not tell who they really are. When Lear is angered by Cordelia, Kent tries to reason with Lear, who is too angry and upset to have an open mind. Lear responds to Kent s opposition with, Out of my sight!, to which Kent... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lear s sight is also tainted by his lack of direction and by not being able to see the consequences of his actions. This, as well as his lack of insight into people, causes the fall out of his relationship with his daughter Cordelia. When Lear asks his daughters who loves him the most, he thinks this will be Cordelia. However when Cordelia says, I love your majesty/According to my bond, no more nor less (I.i.94 95), Lear can not see past the words, all he hears is the words, not the meaning behind them. He does not hear the words with his heart. Goneril and Regan are putting on an act, when they talk of their love for Lear and Lear thinks that they love him because he likes the words they use. Unfortunately for Lear, they do not love him as much as they claim to. When Cordelia hears their bragging she holds her words because she does not want her true feelings compared to their lies. Lear however does not see the meaning of the words that Goneril and Regan are putting forth and feels that they love him and Cordelia does not. Kent, who can see what is actually going on, knows that Cordelia is the only one of the three daughters that truly loves Lear. He tries to get Lear to understand this by saying, Answer my life my judgment,Thy youngest daughter does not love thee least (I.i.153 154). • 7. Dada s Contribution to Contemporary Art Dada and its impact on Contemporary Art According to the Oxford Dictionary of art, Dada was A movement in European art (with manifestations also in New York), c.1915 c.1922, characterized by a spirit of rebellious revolt against traditional values. It arose from a mood of cynicism engendered by the First World War, to which some artists reacted with, cynicism, sarcasm and nihilism. Gathering in Hugo Balls Cabaret Voltaire for spontaneous readings, performances and exhibitions, a group of early avant gardes mainly of German and French origin, formed the organization known as Dada. • 8. Factors Contribute Toward Increasing Job Satisfaction And factors contribute toward increasing job satisfaction and motivating an employee into a higher performance. Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs Theory: This theory follows a category of needs that need to be fulfilled for an individual to feel satisfied. Maslow s categorizes them in a hierarchical order where there are low tier needs that are basic and have to be fulfilled in order to satisfy the upper tier needs that are more important. This aspect explains the motivation theory as one is determined to satisfy the low tier needs and motivated to satisfy the upper and luxurious needs. These five needs are as follow (Jerome, 2013): Physiological needs: these are the basic for needs amenities of life such as air, food, water, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Expectancy Theory: Vroom s expectancy theory is different from the content theories of Maslow and Herzberg. Expectancy theory is based on a result of conscious choices among alternatives that reflects individual distinction in performance motivation (Lunenburg, 2011). it further states that there are a relationships between the effort put at a work and the result of their performance from that effort such as rewards. expectancy is the estimate of the performance level expected in relation to the effort put. It ranges between 0 and 1. Valence on the other hand is the strength either positive or negative of an employee s preference towards a promised reward. It ranges from 1 to +1. When this is factored in instrumentality; the estimate that a certain performance causes varying work outcomes, the formula for motivation is obtained. Motivation = Expectancy x Instrumentality x Valence (Including the 4 assumptions of the expectancy theory) (Lunenburg, 2011) The expectancy theory however, has its own methods of employee motivation. Effort to performance expectancy encourages leaders to increase their faith in employees that they will complete the job. Increasing training, hiring qualified employees, providing enough time and suggesting improvements to the tasks promote effort to performance expectancy. • 9. Doctor Ivanich s Flawed In The District Doctor Physicians are Flawed Heroes: Vulnerable to Human Imperfections The Father of Modern Medicine, William Osler, once stated The good physician treats the disease; the great physician treats the patient who has the disease. Could a famous physician be vulnerable as well to a doctor patient relation? Nobody is impeccable and every person has their unique tragic flaws. It is widely known that computers calculate mathematical operations much faster than humans because they only have one job, justly, if physicians were not distracted and focused on one mission only: to rehabilitate their patient, the job would be completed much quicker and much more efficiently. A physician must always do their best at improving the patient s welfare, which can be achieved efficiently, if they hold all their feelings aside until the patient is fully rehabilitated. The relationship found in the short story, between Aleksandra Andreyevna and Trifon Ivanich is unethical. Now...yes, now I can tell you that I thank you with my whole heart...that you are kind and good that I love you! (Turgenev 133). The affection of the doctor towards the patient might have influenced the final outcome of her welfare, as it is stated in the story that Aleksandra only took medicine from the doctor himself. Possibly the doctor gave her too little or too much medicine, the readers will never know, but the conclusion is the same: the medication did not work. If the doctor was not in love, perhaps he would have noticed that the prescriptions did not help and maybe he could have still saved the young woman. Therefore, doctors are defenceless against human sentiments, in Ivan Turgenev s story, the sentiment is love. The Effects Of Poverty On Indigenous People Without land and control of their assets, Indigenous Peoples are destined to remain the world s poorest communities with the worst health, highest mortality rate and shortest life span ( The Indigenous Movement ). The Indigenous Peoples Movement works to acquire legal protection and works to raise awareness towards the indigenous peoplescauses globally. In addition, their cultures and traditional practices have been harmed over the centuries complications arising from the European... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These three factors, chronologically, are catalyzed in a domino effect commonly experienced by indigenous peoples, thus being responsible for the high suicide rates. Statistical evidence for Latin America indicates more than 80 percent of the region s indigenous peoples are still living in abject poverty, a trend that has changed little since the early 1990s ( Latin America ). Because of the rising poverty states, among the indigenous communities, a portion of the indigenous have resorted to violent crimes. Opponents against helping indigenous peoples believe that the activities of the indigenous risk the safety of the dominant societies, and thus should not be helped provoking thoughts derived from observing the rising number of aboriginal peoples incarcerated in Australia over the years: an exponential growth rate for indigenous incarceration has flooded the prisons with a numerable quantity of indigenous peoples . It is understandable that one would conclude such an alleged claim only by seeing the statistical facts, but without further investigation of the causes for incarceration, many crucial details are absent that turn the tides of the argument towards an advocacy for legislative and judicial systems to intrude and elicit repairs for legal complexities associated with indigenous peoples. Procuring legislative support could decrease the numbers of poverty struck indigenous communities and effect an ameliorable change in their social standing, thus projecting a more respectful and less hostile view by the dominant ... Child Soldiers in India The military use of young children takes three distinct forms: children can take direct part in hostilities (child soldiers), or they can be used in support roles such as porters, spies, messengers, look outs, and sexual slaves; or they can be used for political advantage either as human shields or in propaganda. Throughout history and in many cultures, children have been extensively involved in military campaigns even when such practices were supposedly against cultural morals. Since the 1970s a number of international conventions have come into effect that try to limit the participation of children in armed conflicts, nevertheless the Coalition to Stop the Use of Child Soldiers reports that the use of children in military forces, and ... There were active recruitment drives targeting youths , particularly in the Kashmir valley. * Detention of children There was evidence that in areas of armed conflict children accused of being members of armed groups were detained, often in violation of national legislation designed to protect children in conflict with the law. In Manipur it was alleged that the system established under the Juvenile Justice Act 2000 was non functioning due to inadequate resources; in particular no juvenile home had been established. The Pros And Consequences Of The Revolutionary War The CPM had learnt from bitter experience to become smarter, more subtle and sophisticated, more pragmatic and aware of its limitations and by withdrawing modestly to the background, Too commented. (7) From there, it directed and manipulated ambitious and unscrupulous surrogates to create trouble, thus making it extremely difficult for the security agencies to identify and take proper action against such communist agents. • 14. The Debate Over The Internet The Internet in the year 2009. We send e mails, make calls over the internet and discuss topics we take an interest in. Even our banking is going virtual. But what we take for granted today was only a vague idea fifty years ago. In order to understand how we got this far Let s go back to 1957, when everything began. Before 1957 computers only worked on one task at a time. This is called batch processing. Of course, this was quite ineffective. With computers getting bigger and bigger they had to be stored in special cooled rooms. But then the developers couldn t work directly on the computers anymore specialists had to be called in to connect them. Programming at that time meant a lot of manual work and the indirect connection to the computers led to a lot of bugs, wasting time and fraying the developersВґ nerves. The year 1957 marked a big change. A remote connection had to be installed so the developers could work directly on the computers. At the same time the idea of time sharing came up. This is the first concept in computer technology to share the processing power of one computer with multiple users. On October 4th 1957, during the Cold War The first unmanned satellite, Sputnik 1, was sent into orbit by the Soviet Union. The fear of a Missile Gap emerged. In order to secure America s lead in technology, the US founded the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency in February 1958. At that time, knowledge was only transferred by people. The colonists used propaganda to invoke anger in the colonists. Document 1, which is an engraving of the Boston Massacre by Paul Revere depicts the colonists as helpless bystanders that were shot down by the British soldiers. Until one day, Kamehameha the Great conquered all of the islands becoming Hawaii s first king. As Hawaii s first king, Kamehameha led his own path. Kamehameha was an effective leader because he was intelligent, was an effective communicator, and adapted to new ideas. One reason why Kamehameha was a good leader was because he was intelligent in a way that others weren t. As sandalwood grew in popularity Kamehameha knew he had to preserve the sandalwood trees for future generations. To become a part of the military, it takes extreme levels of strength both physically and mentally. Each member must be at their highest potential in order to effectively complete each mission. Each member of the military should have no medical or mental distractions, because this may harm the effectiveness of the mission, or even the member. There are countless factors that may disqualify a person from being a part of the United States military due to mental or physical conditions. Each member is greatly appreciated for their service to this country regardless of their race, religion, or sexual preferences, but are transgender individuals mentally and physically fit to fight? When arriving to basic military training in hopes to become a part of the military, each person is first separated into groups based on whether they are a male or female. These are the groups that each person will spend the entirety of their time in basic military training with. With these groups, they will eat, sleep, shower, work out, and complete numerous other activities. It is not easy to get used to showering and changing in front of fifty other people, even if they are the same gender. If a transgender individual was placed into the mix, this would make those activities even more uncomfortable for others, and that same individual would feel out of place. Nazi Aryan Racial Theory is known as a racial designation; Houston Stewart Chamberian was the first to use the term Aryan to mean the white race it was the Aryans who invaded the conquered ancient India from the north. The Germans started this theory because they changed the word Aryan into a noun. Gypsies were the most effected because even before the Nazis took over the government, they wanted to find a good reason why they should eliminate the Gypsies wether they had the power or not. The Nazis found that calling the Gypsies asocial elements and also making them irrelevant to normal society, could help in eliminating them. Some of the examples of Organizational Citizenship are as follows: Assisting coworkers: An employee can take time from their work to help another to get their job done, as they know it s important to the company and to the other employee. We have all potentially had situations where others pitched in to get a job done that had nothing to do with their specific job, outside of wanting to help the company and a fellow worker. Selecting An Real Estate Agent Essay Buying Resale Properties If you are looking to buy a private property or HDB flat in Singapore, make sure that you know all the pitfalls before you sign on the dotted line. Here are some of the major things you should look out for to avoid getting into a legal or financial tangle during the transaction. Selecting an Real Estate Agent You need to select an agent to service you. Find one who is familiar with the location and type of property you have in mind. Make sure the agent is from a Listed Housing Agency and also a member of the Institute of Estate Agents (IEA). Discuss your requirements with him and be specific. This will allow him to advise and service you in a professional manner. Ownership Always ensure that the seller is the actual owner of the property. You may wish to request for proof when you are making the purchase. Eligibility to sell Ensure that the seller of the property is eligible to sell the property. For a private property that is mortgaged to a bank, if the seller has lost money on the sale, and is unable to top up the shortfall on his bank loan, the bank may not allow the seller to go through with the transaction. For an HDB flat (except one room flats), there is a minimum occupation period whereby the seller must physically occupy the flat before he would be eligible to sell the flat. For a flat bought directly from the HDB or a resale flat bought with a CPF housing grant, the seller must physically occupy the flat for five years before he can sell ... Abstract The three phase squirrel cage induction motor is the most widely used motor type in the industry because of its good self starting capability, simple and rugged structure, low cost and reliability. In spite of this popularity, the induction motor has two basic limitations: (i) The standard motor is not a true constant speed machine, its full load slip varies from less than 1% (in high horsepower motors) to more than 5% (in fractional horsepower motors), and (ii) It is not inherently capable of providing variable speed operation. The limitations of induction motor can be solved through the use of adjustable speed control method of induction machine. In this paper, various method of speed control of induction motor drive are presented.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Switching power converters offer an easy way to regulate both the frequency and magnitude of the voltage and current applied to a motor shown in fig(1). As a result much higher efficiency and performance can be achieved by these motor drives with less generated noises[3]. Figure 1 Variable Voltage Variable Frequency Control Schematic The most common principle of this kind is the constant V/Hz principle which requires that the magnitude and frequency of the voltage applied to the stator of a motor maintain a constant ratio. By doing this, the magnitude of the magnetic field in the stator is kept at an approximately constant level throughout the operating range. Thus, (maximum) constant torque producing capability is maintained. When transient response is critical, switching power converters also allow easy control of transient voltage and current applied to the motor to achieve faster dynamic response. II. METHODS OF SPEED CONTROL OF INDUCTION MOTOR Mathematically, relation between speed of induction motor and synchronous speed can be stated as, n = (1 s) ns where n_s=120f/P which implies that there are two basic ways of speed control, namely Slip control for fixed synchronous speed. The secularist rejection is based on the supposed contradiction of the existence of a God, who is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnibenevolent on the one hand, and the existence of evil, on the other hand. Epicurus stated the incompatibility of belief in a God with those attributes against the undeniable reality of evil this way: God either wishes to take away evils, and is unable; or he is able and unwilling; or he is either willing nor able, or he is both willing and able. Epicurus then attempts to work out each of the stated possibilities in the following way: 1.If God is willing and is unable, he is feeble, which is not in accordance with the character of God. 2.If he is able and unwilling, he is envious [meaning: evil], which is equally at variance with God. 3.If he is neither willing nor able he is both envious [meaning evil] and feeble, and therefore not God. 4.If he is both willing and able, which alone is suitable to God, from what source then are evils or why does he not remove them? John Edwards believes that everyone is bilingual, even if someone can only speak or understand, he believes that you have some command of a foreign tongue therefore there is no clear monolingual country. • 36. The Negative Impacts Of Food Inseecurity Introduction Millions of people every day do not know when they are going to eat their next meal. This brings upon great stress to households as finding their next meal becomes the priority. The United States defines this shortage of food in households as food insecurity. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has defined food insecurity as a lack of consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life (Coleman Jensen, Rabbitt, Gregory, Singh, 2017). Households that are food insecure will often skip meals, eat low nutritious dense food, and face high stress levels of making food last until they are able to buy more food for their home. Food insecurity is a serious issue that is consistently overlooked and it needs more attention because it has a negative impact on the families. Literature Review Food insecurity affects every community in the United States. About 12.3% of U.S. households were considered food insecure in 2016 (United States Department of Agriculture 2017). This number has not changed much from the 12.7% it was in 2015. Food insecurity can affect anyone, but certain groups are more vulnerable to this issue. For instance, low income households, the elderly, children, and immigrants are at highest risk to be food insecure. In particular, it is households with children that are most affected by food insecurity. The rate for these households was higher than the national average at 16.5% for the year 2016 (United States Department of Agriculture ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For me I really couldn t answer that question, as a little kid who s only thought was to have fun, all I cared about was playing video games and watching cartoons. One day, my cousins came over to my house asking if they could watch something on the TV, I said sure, so they turned on the TV and put on a documentary. At first I was disinterested and wanted to go back to my usual habits, but I stayed and watched, I realized that the documentarycontained the answer to my question and that answer was sports. Out of all the sports, basketball became my guidance, it spoke to me in a way where it wasn t just an interest, but a window of discovering who I am, what I love, and what I want to become. In that window of time I would watch every basketball gameand practice my skills as a player. Watching NBA players give their hearts out to the game of basketball brought me joy as well as the confidence and determination to playand improve my skills to be just like them. My favorite player was Kobe Bryant because he would play every game at the highest level he could play at and he had a killer work ethic that a person would only dream of having. I would set an alarm at 10 a.m. to wake up and start practicing because all I wanted was to be the best at something that means so much to me. When I turned 10, my parents signed me up for a ... Frederick II Compare And Contrast Essay Emperor Frederick II of Germany and King Louis IX of France were both important figureheads of the crusades as they personally prepared for the departure and led the army to the Holy Land. Even though Louis IX s crusades failed and Frederick II s crusade gained control of the Holy Land, Louis IX became a saint whereas Frederick II was declared the Antichrist. Therefore, the outcome of the crusades led by both kings did not determine the public s approval and disapproval. This states that since the soul has all knowledge integrated, one recollects this knowledge through situations in an individual s life and use one s reasoning. With the dialogues of the Meno and Phaedo, Platodiscusses the ideas of recollection and immortality of the soul in general. As well, the Republic, through the three different situations shown, Plato shows the ideas of the forms and what is real and what is not. In the dialogue of Meno, Socrates explains the idea of recollection with the question and answer period between himself and the boy. Socrates ponders this thought and explains that, His soul must have always possessed this knowledge, for he either was or was not a man (The Philosophical Journey 89). This explains that it is an innate notion, where the soul always has the knowledge and can be obtained through remembering said knowledge. Therefore, Socrates believes that since the truth is always inside the soul, then it must be immortal. The soul has all knowledge, and through the process of recollection, one can recover this information. Phaedo, the second dialogue of Plato s theory, states that only through the forms and absolutes, an individual can have knowledge. It has been questioned how society can have the knowledge of an absolute if we haven t discovered said absolute. Socrates reflects, The thing which I see aims at being like some other thing, but falls short of and cannot be like that other thing, and is inferior (The Philosophical Journey 90). That is to say that in order to have the understanding of an absolute of something, we can derive its meaning from the things that do not meet the requirements. In addition, to derive the conceptualization of an absolute, an individual can only use the senses one is given. As well, Socrates declares, From the senses then is derived the conception that all sensible equals aim at an absolute equality of which they fall short (The Philosophical Journey 90). • 46. The Pardoner s Prologue Sparknotes Does the way the story describes the Pardoner makes it seem as if he is a wholly vicious man? I believe it does, from the start you can easily notice he is a very selfish person, yet he is supposed to be a pastor and someone who tries to benefit the people of the church. Instead of fulfilling the role God has put him in he would rather preach for his own benefits and bring sin upon the church. In The Pardoner s Prologue, the story begins by explaining that the Pardoner is a man who preaches and tries to sell his community salvation. He speaks on cupidity majority of the time which is saying that greed is the root of evil. This is the first example of why he is a cruel man. He is preaching lies to his people to make them feel bad and tricking them into giving money to the church, telling people not to be greedy yet he is being greedy himself. Later on, he tells us that he preaches only to gain money, he doesn t preach to try and bring the congregation salvation or freedom from their sins. He even gets to the point where he thinks his sermons are intended to be evil, to offend God and the community. We can t have the government gaining too much power but we need to still be controlled. Harmony in all aspects is what we are sought after, we want and need a balance.
