independence of the board and the composition of the role of Chairman and CEO as well as the
committees under the board s guidance. The board has structured itself to meet the requirements of the
ASX (2014), in addition I. Board Structure The composition of the board is clearly documented in the
Charter that the board must be majority Independent Non Executive Director (INED) and the CEO

citizen is appointed, the Chairman is not to excise the role of CEO of Qantas and must not have held

responsibilities to inform the board of their interests outside of Qantas. III. Board Size As explained
previously by Lipman (2007) board sizes should vary between no less than four directors or greater

Fieldwork Process Analysis
According to Williams and Menendez (2015) fieldwork process comprises of three factors that create
momentum; results oriented action, awareness of observations, and other practices to generate new
behaviors (p. 175). Although, fieldwork is a great strategy to create momentum it is important not to
assign excessive fieldwork to the client (Williams Menendez, 2015). The purpose of fieldwork or
homework is to produce affirmative energy (momentum) between the client and the coach. Moreover,
it maintains the client motivated, driven, and focus resulting in a positive attitude helping the client
achieving his/her goal.
As a future coach, I believe that helping clients keep the momentum throughout the coaching process
is vital to the success of the clients. Having and maintaining a proactive relationship with the coach is
possible at the beginning of each session every time the coach and client work together. By creating a
judgement free zone where clients can faultlessly and openly discuss with the coach their goal and
what is impeding them on attaining that goal. A judgment free zone propel the clients to learn ... Show

Brainstorming ideas, inquiries, or methods can potentially help the client and the coach to organize
ideas. This process can be done collaboratively, the coach and the client can list a number of potential
ideas and structurally organize those into a framework that they can follow throughout the coaching
sessions. Finally, I will construct an action plan to follow with my consumer. This action plan will
help me contact keep the client accountable throughout the coaching process. As a future coach I
believe that a good coach should be able to provoke productive and creative moments throughout the
coaching process. Additionally, a good coach should be able to help the client maintain his/her level of
motivation high particularly, if they are struggling through the

Concert Report For A Wind Concert
Eric Fang, Wind Symphony Concert Report On Friday, October twenty second, Simi Valley High
School had their fall concert, however, they only had two bands so there was not much to write about.
The concert band opened up with, Apparitions, by Brian Balmages, which was a song with a very
mysterious intro with the percussion. The song is later developed into a soprano winds melody which
was very well balanced with its counter and support. Unfortunately before a very beautiful, yet eerie
flute solo they were somewhat out of tune, and during it, the flutes were talking to each other. Later,
the soprano melody turns into a brass dominated scene, with the trumpets being slightly too loud and
overtaking the rest of the band. Overall, the piece was very well executed with great attacks, releases,
and flow. However there was little to no vibrato in the song. After that song, The Magician s Secret,
by Joseph Eidson was stated by a flute squeak, but evens out into a nice jumpy beginning. Throughout
the many brass and high winds chords, they were mostly out of tune, but the pulsing and tempo was
very well done and controlled which gave the theme of smoothness and elegance. While the band was
going great with strong and obvious dynamics, one of the trumpets messed up and showed it. Luckily,
a great story of adventure and curiosity manage to cover him up and retain the moving melody. As the
song ended, I personally felt the end was a bit too staccato and the overall song had no

Foot Locker, Inc. Case Study
Athletic apparel third party retailer, Foot Locker Inc., began operations in 1974 (Richard, 2016). The

Currently, the market environment of the athletic apparel industry has several key players, including
brands such as Nike, Adidas, Under Armor, Dicks Sporting Goods, and others. Foot Locker carries
many of these brands within is chain of stores. As a third party retailer that carries many brand s
products, competition comes from other outside retailers as well as the brands that they carry, such as
Nike, Under Armor, etc., who focus on their direct to consumer sales, (Diaz CNBC). Many customers
prefer to bypass third party stores and rely on the brands own retail stores, (Kenra Investors 2017). By
Foot Locker s suppliers also being member of the market and competing against the firm, this has
given the suppliers more bargaining power. This is seen as an issue in Porter s Five Forces model, due
to the suppliers having strong control and competitive forces with Foot Locker and the industry. With
online retailers jeopardizing brick and mortar locations, Investors, who knocked down Foot Locker
shares more than 25%, seem to be more concerned with a June deal where Nike agreed to sell some

Survival Observation Essay
Earlier in the semester, my colleagues Bailley Vang, Zachary Wilson, and Haley Bennett and I voted
for and decided that we would be searching for bats as our semester project. By covering areas in
Clovis and Fresno with a Pettersson ultrasound detector and a small recorder, we aimed to take note of
and confirm many sightings not only as an educational obligation, but also with a goal of spending
time and having fun with friends close to midnight and prior to sunset. Starting off with Roeding Park
in Fresno, we had initially believed that our numbers would sharply spike to the double digits as the
place was comprised of tall trees with striking vegetation, making it optimal for a bat s habitat.
Strangely enough however, not only did we not catch sight of any of the placental mammal, the
detector negatively reported on bat calls. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

trees, comparatively snug buildings (barns and sheds), and lush greenery. According to Haley and

Buchanan High School and Fresno State; yet, our results differed from the expected. Regardless of the
number of times we showed up and scavenged for the flittermouse however, the results still came up

negative. This was completely unexpected as no one in our team had predicted this. At this point, we

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Narrative Criticism
In biblical study, Narrative Criticism has been developed against the evolutionary models of historical
criticism, which has been mainly focused to reenact the position and thought of the original writer and
audience through certain scientific and analysis of biblical material . This discipline is the study of a
narrative text most likely similar to any narrative literature. It is sub discipline of interpretation
method under literary criticism, which emphases on the literary form or shape of the text in its final
form as pointer of what the texts meant. There is general agreement among the various disciplines of
literary approach, that they all consider Scripture as a literary document , rather than a historical .
These various disciplines, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, when someone engaged in narrative criticism approach, he needs to pay attention the text
only. Text is mirror here, not window as historical criticism usually does. Again, it opens the readers
up to new insights in the text that we may not have seen before, or that we may have unnoticed.
B. weakness
One of the potential weaknesses for Narrative criticism is a little concern for authorial intention. It is
clear that, someone who engaged in narrative criticism approach and cannot emphasize the plot, the
character, and lose the historical background or the historical reference of the text. In addition, in
narrative criticism approach there is a high tendency to look scripture as any other literature and
fiction, because they used a methodology of the same kind.
In general, with careful managing of those negative sides mentioned in the above, narrative criticism
is a better and significant approach that does result in a renewed focus on the text, and this focus
maintains a deliberate and well built grasp on historical issues, it may have its

The role of women in The Epic of Gilgamesh
The role of women is a very important topic in The Epic of Gilgamesh, and various women are chosen
to represent various aspects of the mesopotamian conception of women.
In the ancient times males were inessential to the preservation of life. The Epic of Gilgamesh shows
how the inability of males to give birth causes a sense of despair and alienation. While the
representation of women might seem confusing at first with its wide range of traits, the epic tries to
demonstrate all aspects of women, some are dominant in some ways. They are valuable advisors, and
have variable attitudes regarding sexuality, they control men s decision in some ways and bring both
death and immortality in men s lives. In this paper the female characters of ... Show more content on

Utnapishtim clearly lets Gilgamesh know how the story ends. Males are not mortals, only females are.
They do not possess the power that everlasting life brings, only females do. Therefore they cannot

Arizona s Looming Water Crisis Arizonans see California s drought and water restrictions plastered all
over the television and newspapers. Many Arizonans remain concerned about the well being of
Californians, while some may mistakenly think that it is not Arizona s problem. I was one of those
people, and while investigated the idea, discover how Arizona is in a bad situation because of it. What
I, along with others, did not understand is the years of planning, legislation, and engineering that took

According to the CAP website, the CAP was developed when the seven states who rely on the
Colorado River came together, and divided the water availability amongst themselves. This is known
more formally as the Colorado River Compact of 1922. After many years of legislation and
construction, the CAP started delivering water to Arizonans by 1993. The CAP brings water from
Lake Havasu and goes through a series of canals extending 313 miles long, and is responsible for
bringing water to 80 percent of Arizona s population. However, because of prior appropriation laws,
the CAP does not guarantee that Arizona will receive its annual 2.8 million acre feet. Administrators at
the CAP Strategic Initiatives and Public Policy Office predict that the 2.8 million acre feet of water
delivered to Arizona, will soon decline. The CAP issue brief states, ...there is a significant probability
of an official declaration of shortage in the Colorado River water supply starting as early as 2016 or

of the Interior, and the decision is based on the elevation of the water in Lake Meade. The person in

Weapons Of Influence
Critical Thinking Study Question 1, Chapter 8 Pick any three of the weapons of influence described in
this book. Discuss in each case how the weapon could be used in enhance compliance in what you
would consider an exploitative manner and in what you would consider a nonexploitative manner. The
first weapon of influence that I have chosen to describe in this book is Reciprocity, which comes from
chapter 2 reciprocation the old give and take... and take . According to sociologist and anthropologist,
one of the most widespread and basic norms of human culture is embodied in the rule of reciprocity.
The rule requires that one person try to repay in kind what another person have provided. By
obligating the recipient of an act to repayment in the future. The rule for reciprocation allows one
individual to give something to another with confidence that is not being lost. (Cialdini 49) This rule
is extremely powerful, often overwhelming. The rule of reciprocity can be used to enhance
compliance in what we would consider an exploitative manner and in what we would consider a
nonexploitative manner. My example for the rule of reciprocity in and nonexploitative manner comes

private interview, he could not handle the pressure from Moore, and he walked out of the room. This
documentary unmasks many issues that pertain globally, but kill nationally. Moore travels to Canada
to get the citizen s opinion of the States. Consensus was that the citizens of the United States are living
in fear of anyone and everyone. We put alarms on our windows and doors, even going to such
extremes as sleeping with a gun under our pillow at night. Canada on the other hand, claims to not fear
their neighbors. Moore walked around random neighborhoods and opened unlocked front door after

the bullets were purchased from a local Kmart. When Moore heard of this, he decided to take two

however on day two with new caster evident, Kmart made a decision to stop selling bullets,

Anesthesia, Anesthetic Drugs And Anesthesiologist
Anesthesia, Anesthetic Drugs Anesthesiologist Anesthesia is a practice in the medical field that
specializes in the control and monitoring of anesthetic drugs most commonly during surgical

Before going learning about the various anesthesia procedures and the anesthetics involved, it would
be best to understand the history of anesthesiology. Ronald D. Miller best describes a brief history of
anesthesiology in his book Miller s Anesthesia. He states:
The first anesthetics were given to ameliorate the pain associated with dental extractions and minor
surgery. As the complementary fields of surgery and anesthesiology matured together, new skills were
required of the anesthesiologist, including expertise in resuscitation, fluid replacement, airway
management, oxygen transport, operative stress reduction, and postoperative pain control. Today,
personnel from the anesthesiology department are located throughout the hospital, ranging from the
ambulatory care center to the intensive care unit. Organizing a coherent historical document is
therefore complicated by the diverse roles of anesthesiologists, in the modern hospital, especially in
perioperative medicine. (Miller, Ronald D. 3)
Local anesthesia is used when a patient is undergoing a minimally invasive procedure like a port
placement, or some carpal injections. The most common forms of local anesthesia are: infiltration
anesthesia; nerve blocks; haematoma blocks; intravenous regional block; and extradural and spinal
anesthesia. These procedures are relatively quick and rarely take longer than a few

The Death With Dignity Act
Death with Dignity Act Yellowing of the skin, hollowed in eyes, hair loss, and habitual wheezing or
shortness of breath is only an insubstantial glimpse of the rancid face of leukemia. It is estimated that
around 1 million people in the United States are living with a terminal illness (Pan 2). Some people
may feel hopeless, like their life is now meaningless due to their circumstance, and the hand they have
been dealt. When something of this magnitude occurs in ones life, doctor assisted suicide should never
be an option, or even a thought on their mind. Human euthanasia is ethically, and morally wrong. It
violates the principles of medical ethics that doctors take, it costs less to keep a person alive, rather
than die, and if this medication falls into the wrong hands, a murder could come about from it.
In the 19th century, there was an uprising in anesthesia use (Emanuel 1). In 1846, Dr. John Warren,
Professor of Surgery, Harvard Medical School, author of Etherization; with surgical remarks, led the
first operation using ether anesthesia. He noted that ether might be used in mitigating the agonies of
death (Robinson 1). Doctors as well as physicians became more competent in the use of morphine
injections for pain relief during the times of the Civil War, and this practice shortly became known on
a wide scale (SC 1). Joseph Bullar, in the British Medical Journal described his use of chloroform to
alleviate the pain that may accompany death on four different individuals

My chosen career path is to be a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Therapist and proceed to graduate

group I am working with. For example, the older generation is now living longer so I must acquire the
skills to assist their leisure and recreational needs because not many adaptions have been made. If I
am working with a person who is 80 years old and wants to ability to paint her nails again, I will have
to adapt the tools I am given so she can grip the nail polish handle again. When I am working with
kids I must be aware of what stage they are at in life. If they are in preoperational stage they won t
have the ability to think how others feel. Also, knowing that they are in this stage I can utilize what
activities we do because this stage they are known for engaging in a lot of symbolic play. Lastly,
lifespan development influences my career because it helps me understand who they are and why they
act the way they do. If a young girl has an eating disorder, I could find the what s causing it. I might
find out she hit puberty earlier triggering this behavior and can help her cope with that. Therefore, by
understanding my client s background I can personalize the therapy to meet her needs.

Emotions During Mediation
Get More Without Emotions During Mediation
Mediation is a complement to divorce proceedings. All too often, many spouses cannot settle disputes,
so mediation helps them move forward in the process by employing the services of an unbiased third
party. In fact, many people find that mediation helps them retain more of their assets because they
were able to think through the process logically and avoid emotionally heightened situations through
mediation with Oakland County family law attorneys.
The Courts Don t Control Mediation

In essence, they feel as if the judge didn t understand them because they weren t able to state their

During mediation, everyone is allowed to discuss the concerns they have about the proceedings. In
mediation, each party is allowed to state their case, which helps them let off steam. After being heard,
many people are more willing to negotiate fair trade offs in divorce proceedings.
Mediation Is Flexible
Often, hearing the judge s decision about divorce proceeding is final. In order to appeal, most people
will have to present their case to another judge, which can be time consuming. During mediation,
decisions aren t final until mediation ends. Since mediation is flexible, both parties can go back and
forth between different aspects of their situation and make adjustments. With the ability to change
positions, there are fewer instances of emotionally charged conversations blocking the process of
coming to a solution.
Mediation is mutually beneficial to both parties in divorce proceedings. With mediation, people can
resolve their issues easier and faster than they would if they relied exclusively on the court system.

To What Extent Is Futabatei s Ukigumo, Japan s First...
During the Meiji period, Japan was faced with a plethora of issues regarding its future. One of these
issues was the future of Japanese literature. At that time, novels were still regarded as a third rate art
form in Japan, though foreign books were highly sought after by the Japanese public. There were
many ways to write Japanese, each system with its own use for specific occasions. And yet, the idea of
writing in the style of natural conversational Japanese was considered radical and inappropriate for
literature by the general public. Most foreign novels were translated poorly, into a writing style known
as kanbun chô which was mostly based around Chinese loan words. As a result, this style had a very

Japan already had a very strong literary history prior to the Meiji restoration, however, if the Japanese
people were to take this heritage into the modern era then they would have to adapt to this new style
of writing fiction.
While studying Russian at Tôkyô gaikoku go gakkô, a student named Futabatei Shimei realised the
inefficiency of the kanbun chô and gabuntai styles when translating Russian novels into Japanese. And
through logical continuation, he understood that writing a Japanese novel for the modern era would
mean having to drop these traditional writing styles as well. In January 1886, Futabatei met with
Tsubouchi Shôyô. Shôyô s criticism, Shōsetsu Shinzui had struck a chord with Futabatei, who had
envisioned many of the same ideas while reading Russian literature. Tsubouchi had himself published
a novel known as Tōsei Shosei Kishitsu, which he had hoped would achieve his goals in becoming the
book to bring Japanese literature into the modern era. Unfortunately, he failed to avoid the same
exaggerated and coincidental plot developments which he himself criticised. Furthermore, the
characterisation displayed in the novel was described as, weak and shows little psychological
penetration 4 . Resigned to the realisation that his talent lay in critique and translation, he decided to
focus his attention on tutoring other writers to achieve what he had tried to do. With Tsubouchi s

Does Neutralization Cause Crime
Criminals who commit crime neutralize the belief that their crime is bad by way of using
neutralization techniques which are denial of injury, denial of the victim, condemnation of
condemners, appeal to higher loyalties and self fulfillment. Neutralization does not cause crime
however it does give offenders reasons to commit crime because it causes them to feel that what they
are going to do is not that bad.
It is reported that hackers found it easier to crack software codes, access and download files or commit
digital piracy because they feel they are not stealing but copying files. Offenders feel as though
offenses done by computers are not the same as taking a physical item this in turns causes the offender

The Good Shepherd And The Bebenburg Youth
Both The Good Shepherd and The Bebenburg Youth are quite small then what they appear on generic
white backgrounds. Only about two feet each and almost a thousand years in between them, they have
many concepts in common to their creation, build, and context with some differences in each category.
Marble is what the statues are made of, as the hard material was in relative abundance in the
Mediterranean area even in ancient times. Bits of paints on the Youth are still present as this would be
completely polychromed with pigments to add to the lifelikeness of the statue. Not stated but the Good
Shepherd looks like it had color at one point but wore off from years of being weathered. With the
texture of the overall statue, the Bebenburg Youth had sheen and a smoothed appearance from that of
the muscles and careful sanding down to idealism. The Shepherd has a rougher feel as maybe the artist
wanted not to make it like Christ wore fine linen but a rough material like a poor shepherd would

The professional life of an accountant may or may not include the pursuit of the Certified Public
Accountant (CPA) examination. Other options in the field include accounting, budgeting, and
auditing. The MSA program addresses the goals of the AICPA Vision Project for leadership, vision,
professional values, communications, technology skills, and critical thinking. Although not stated by

The Oppression Of Women In To The Odyssey And To The...
We see gender roles described in The Odyssey and To The Lighthouse that seem to share some similar
ideas; however, the women in To The Lighthouse are more opressed than the women of The Odyssey.
First, women in the Odyssey are typically submissive to men in house duties and marriage matters,
like Telemachus telling his mother to get back to her loom in Book 1 and him deciding who his
mother will marry in Book 2. Also, women are seen only by their identity of who their father or
husband is, like the ghosts of women who approach Odysseus at the gates of the Underworld in Book
11.
With To The Lighthouse, we see Charles Tansley constantly downs women, like a representation of
the oppression in the 1920s, saying women s silliness made being civilized

Examples Of Racism In Huckleberry Finn
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is not a racist novel, nor is Mark Twain a racist author. As
Leopold Von Ranke said, You have reckoned that history ought to judge the past and to instruct the
contemporary world as to the future. The present attempt does not yield to that high office. It will
merely tell how it really was . The past had different norms and etiquette than today, and Twain was
merely putting the reader into the perspective of those times. One can t judge the past and judge Twain
s use of the word because in those days, the word was accepted, and not exactly racist . The novel was
a satire on slavery and racism, that, as well as raising social awareness, was also one of the best
American novels of all time. Huckleberry Finn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to put the reader into the perspective of the past and teach them how blacks used to be treated,
he had to use intense language and make harsh comments. Today, people have exceptional knowledge
and have been introduced to racism and what is considered wrong to mention . So the readers of Huck
Finn today jump to the conclusion that Twain is racist because the simplest [things] cannot be made
clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of
a doubt, what is laid before him (Leo Tolstoy). People already have a strong sense as to what racism
consists of, so Twain comes off as a racist right away by using remarks that people have been taught
their entire life are racial remarks.Twain introduced Jim as a comical, uneducated runaway slave,
which most people took offense to. The silly behavior of Jim is common for characters in historical
satires, which is most likely the reason for Twain s choice of Jim s appearance to the audience. Jim is
described to the readers as [trustworthy] to the point of gullibility. These qualities are not altered
during the course of the novel; instead, they are fleshed out and prove to be positives instead of
negatives (CliffNotes). Even though Twain depicted Jim as gullible, it shared the trustworthy and
friendship Jim had in Huck. It proved later in the book as a helpful tool, and played a key part in Jim s

helpful in the prevention of HIV in communities across the nation. In addition, the paper depicts how
the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) has been able to incorporate the 10 essential public
health services in its fight against HIV disease. The paper will discuss the assessment of the HIV
disease situation in Chicago neighborhoods; policy development by the Chicago Department of Public

Analysis of the Korean Economy
Introduction
South Korea s history, strategic location, and political relations in the past and today, have created an
economy which is one of the strongest in Southeast Asia. According to the World Bank, in the last 30
years, South Korea s economy is one of the most outstanding success stories in international
development. (Globaled, p.1). Dating from the Japanese occupation of South Korea , from 1910 thru
1946, then the division of the peninsula enforced by the United States of America and the Union of

Dover Beach and Farenheit 451
English 2342
20 April 2011
Dover Beach and Fahrenheit 451 The classic poem, Dover Beach, written by Matthew Arnold, is a
statement about losing faith as a result of enlightenment. In an emotionally charged scene in Ray
Bradbury s novel, Fahrenheit 451, fireman Guy Montag reads the poem aloud to his wife and her
friends. Bradbury could have chosen any piece of literature for Montag to read as a means of
unveiling his collection of hoarded books and his newfound interest in reading them. Bradbury uses
this particular piece because the speaker in the poem is expressing feelings that are very similar to
those of Montag in Fahrenheit 451. Matthew Arnold s masterpiece, Dover Beach, has been dissected

For the world... hath really neither joy, nor love, nor light, nor certitude, nor peace, nor help for pain.
With this statement, Arnold is announcing the big question for the modern world, intent on forcing
love to bear the enormous weight of providing human lives with meaning: If love is all humans have,
what do they do when they cannot find love, or keep it? (Ingersoll) Through the words of the man
looking at the bay out the window with his love, Matthew Arnold has challenged two of the most
widely accepted and unquestioned fundamental beliefs of the past few centuries, or even millennia:
faith and love. In Fahrenheit 451, Guy Montag is his society s Matthew Arnold. Instead of being a
reverend s son, he is a fireman s son. Firemen in Montag s world don t extinguish fires, they create
them in order to destroy books and all the possible evils that the books contain. His society burns
books as if it is a religion. By becoming a fireman himself, Montag is positioned as an integral part of
this religion. However, as he becomes more and more curious about why they burn the books without
ever questioning the burning, he starts to secretly hide books away in the air conditioning vent in his
home. Montag knows that hoarding these books is against the law in the society in which he lives, and
even punishable by death in extreme cases. The society in which Bradbury has created in Fahrenheit
451 is what is referred to as dystopian. While

Analyzing The Studio System In Hollywood In The 1920 s
The studio system was an arrangement of craft services and talent that made movies dictated by
contractual terms. Through this system, studios could easily move from project to project, producing
like that of a factory. Creating movies in this arrangement eliminated the need to raise money or
finances; directors usually created movies in the style of the studio which lessened artistic creativity
(Lewis, p 104). The studio system was dominant in Hollywood through the 1920 s well into the 1950
s. Analyzing the studio system simplistically we see basic capitalism. In the 1920 s movies became
more popular, so fulfilling the rules of basic supply and demand, studios were formed to profit from
the insatiable public desire to see more films (in

Difference Between Multiprogramming And Multiprocessing
1. Problem 1 (20 points): Why is the execution environment of a Java class called a virtual machine?
How does this virtual machine compare to a real machine running code written in C? Answer: Java
files are executed on Java Virtual Machine which is not a real machine. This is a software application
which acts like a real machine and make a complete environment like heap, memory, stack, CPU etc
virtually. Basically it is layer of software between the OS and the application program. That s why it is
called a Virtual Machine. Virtual Machine will see the resources which administrator sets in settings

5. Problem 5. (20 points) What is the difference between multiprogramming and multiprocessing?
Multiprogramming and multithreading? Answer: Difference between multiprogramming and
multiprocessing: Multiprogramming is the ability of an operating system to run multiple processes on
a single processor machine. E.g. we are running MS Word, notepad and media player on a single CPU
machine and all the running simultaneously. Multiprocessing is the ability of operating system to run
multiple processes on multiple processors (CPUs). Processes are divided and assigned to different
CPUs to perform the task. So basic difference is that if OS run multiple processes on single processor,
this is multiprogramming and if multiple processes are running on multiple CPUs is called
multiprocessing. Difference between multiprogramming and multithreading: Multiprogramming is the
ability of an operating system to run multiple processes on a single processor machine. E.g. we are
running MS Word, notepad and media player on a single CPU machine and all the running
simultaneously. Multithreading is the ability of operating system to run divide and run different parts
of a process on a single CPU to obtain the same but fast result. Different parts of the code which run
simultaneously are called

Antisocial Personality Disorder
Antisocial Personality Disorder (APD) is a disorder characterized by behaviour that is socially
undesirable such as breaking the law, lying, and not feeling any guilt. People who suffer from APD
often have certain personality traits such as being charming, manipulative, insincere and incapable of
love. Psychopathy is an extreme version of APD. In this essay, I am going to explore the question
what is Antisocial Personality Disorder? I also wish to understand the difference between people who
suffer from APD and people who suffer from psychopathy.
Antisocial Personality Disorder affects 1 to 4 percentage of the population. Gazzaniga et al. (2016)
outlines how APD is much more common in men than women. Also, nearly 50 percentage of prisoners
meet the requirements to be diagnosed with APD. According to the DSM 5, the Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, APD cannot be diagnosed before the age of 18, but some form
of antisocial behaviour must have been carried out before the age of 15. It states that true psychopaths
have more extreme behaviour than those with APD and are pathological in their degree of callousness
(Gazzaniga et al. 2016 p. 639). So what are the causes of APD? Slower alpha waves have been
detected through

Was Haman Hanged Or Impaled In The Book Of Esther Analysis
Was Haman Hanged or Impaled in the Book of Esther?
As part of the battle between Mordecai (the hero) and Haman (the villain), Haman plans Mordecai s
death, but in the end the instrument of death is turned on Haman himself.
According to the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV), Haman s wife suggested (verse 5:14) that a
gallows fifty cubits [seventy five to eighty feet] high be made ... to have Mordecai hanged on it.
The Jewish Publication Society of America Version (JPS).
translation offers instead, Let a stake be put up ... to have Mordecai impaled on it. Verse 7:10 details
the plot reversal: The King s men either hanged Haman on the gallows (NRSV) or impaled Haman on
the stake (JPS).
Which is it? Was it a gallows or stake? And was Haman hanged or impaled?
King James Version (KJV), the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) and the New American
Standard (NAS) render the beginning of the verse the same: So, they hanged Haman on the gallows
that he had prepared for Mordecai. However, consider the NIV s take on the text:
So, they impaled Haman on the pole he had set up for Mordecai. (and to be fair, the NRSV contains a
note that it should be rendered on a tree by impalement )
Clearly, hanging by the neck until dead and being shoved on a sharpened, wide perimeter stick are two
(2) separate ways of dying.
Where does the discrepancy come from?
There are two (2) questions here, as there always are with matters of translation.
1. The first is what the original Hebrew means.
2. The second is how best to say that in English.
Let s look at the Hebrew to examine the two (2) words in dispute.
Gallows (KJV)/Pole(NIV)
1. The Hebrew word is ets and it is the most often translated in the Bible as tree, piece of wood, or
pole.
2. The only examples of the word being translated as gallows appear in The Book of Esther
Hanged (KJV)/Impaled(NIV)
1. The Hebrew word talah is used here and is the source of complexity in interpreting the image of
death.
2. The word translates most often in the Bible to mean suspend or hang, and there are numerous
examples of people hung on ets throughout the OT: Genesis 40:19, Deuteronomy 21:22, Joshua 8:29
and 10:20, 1 Samuel 31:10, and 2 Samuel

Family Dynamics Chapter Summary
Reading reaction 2
This chapter tell us about what they called the creator of the family movement Mr. Bowen. In this
chapters the lectors could find the theoretical formulations where some angles are form to describe the
union or functions of the family and how they are connected to each other (e.g., emotional triangles,
process, cutoff, society, genogram, differentiation, etc.) and so forth, (Nichols M. 2017; pg. 71 87).
Personally as we all grow and learn from each chapter of the book every information is important on
our careers. The information that I most retain in this chapter are the theoretical formulations and
strategies that will help us understand the family dynamics. Chapter five tells us family problem

The information that was new to me is the six steps models. As professionals we need to learn all the
information and techniques that we can apply to the benefit of the family.
Chapter six talks about structural theory this is important because every family has a structural base in
place; some concept are boundaries, subsystems, alignments, and complementary which are easy to
apply in therapy. The family structure is how is the interaction of the family, then how they interact
with each other and their own personal boundaries between each other. To be able to provide an
effective outcome in family therapy is imperative to consider the entire family members. The chapter
provide a guideline for structural family assessment as we can observe in page 120 (Nichols M. 2017).
The information provided in this chapter open the view of observing the interaction within the family
members and how it relates to the conflicts. All the information in this book it is imperative, however,
the family assessment was a good key for us as beginners. Learning all this material help us grow as
professionals in our careers.

Examples Of Greed In King Lear
Appalling acts of greed, horrendous acts of betrayal, and unchanging accounts of stubbornness weave
throughout the entirety of the play King Lear. With heinous acts and equally despicable characters,
King Lear flourishes with dramatic irony and tragedy. However, though the play King Lear is written
as a tragedy, Shakespeare still manages to manifest a plethora of valuable life lessons within the play.
Some of the life lessons learned in the play King Lear prove that loved ones can betray, greed can lead
to despicable acts, and stubbornness can lead to irrational acts.

In space, outside of the protection of the Earth s magnetosphere which blocks 99.9% of damaging
radiation17, large amounts of radiation from solar flares and coronal mass ejections can reach
astronauts. The damaging effects of radiation varies depending on the amount of exposure. Radiation
can either ionize water inside cells and these ionized water molecules can react with DNA or radiation
can directly hit the DNA molecules. Either way damage is done to the DNA. Damaged DNA, if not
repaired, can lead to mutated cells that can result in cancer. Higher levels of radiation can lead to
radiation sickness and death13. Radiation can also cause central nervous system damage which can

rarely covered with health insurance. The Wal Mart corporation states that 90% of it s workers have
health insurance. In actuality, the 90% who are covered, around 50% of those are insured because of
their spouses employer, who, by the way, may be a union employer. Wal Mart is an anti union
corporation. The first ever unionized Wal Mart was in Quebec, Canada. It was quickly shut down once
is became unionized however, and this is not the only case like this. Many attempts have been made to
change Wal Mart into a union employer, but all attempts have failed. Wal Mart is often portrayed as
the big bad wolf of companies. It s accused of harming smaller mom and pop businesses. But it is in
fact worse then that.

Frisby was at the farm with the pills she goes into a hole and was now in the kitchen, She zoomed into
the kitchen and then Billy Fitzgibbon saw her and captured her. But the Dragon still ate the food
greedily and all of sudden she was drowsy. She was stuck up there. The Fitzgibbon had dinner and she
overheard what they said. They talked about seven dead rats died by chewing an electric wire. Many
people thinks that the rats in town have rabies. The government already exterminated rats from the

thrilled that they will get rid of all the rats. Mrs. Frisby knew she had to warn

Management and Conflict Resolution
All conflict within an organization is detrimental to employees and the organization. Discuss.
Conflict can be defined as a process that begins when one party perceives that another party has
negatively affected, or it is about to negatively affect, something the first party cares about ,
(Huczynski and Buchanan, 2007). Huczynski and Buchanan (2007) also perceive conflict as a mental
state which has to be acknowledged by the two parties involved to comply with its definition. In an
organizational environment, conflict is strongly connected to managerial skills. There are different
situations where conflict can occur but it is often a consequence of lack of communication,
misunderstandings, disagreements which mean basic human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It ranges from job requirements to statement of objectives. Special liaison refers to using a more
experienced member to train staff and offer broader information about their activities. All these
methods of co ordination are mainly ways of hedging that people know their roles and responsibilities
and how to be deployed.
All of the measures above represent actions taken by organization in order to have a clear
differentiation between employees and their roles and to co ordinate their functions. The reaction to
this form or organizational order consists of perceptions and emotions from employees.
Types of conflict
French et al(2008) agree that another classification of conflict is made through communication levels:
intrapersonal, interpersonal, intergroup conflict and interorganizational conflict. Intrapersonal conflict
is usually the perception an individual has upon the goals and opportunities received. The best
example would be choosing between equal alternatives. Interpersonal conflict occurs between two
individuals and intergroup conflict is between larger groups such as departments. Interorganisational
conflict occurs between organizations or larger units in large organizations, such as trade unions.
According to Higgerson (1996) there are specific cues managers should follow in anticipating a
conflict. Changes in behavior such as verbal or non verbal signs and change of attitude can all reflect
how employees react to an uncomfortable

Maize in Pre-Columbian America
Maize is a wild plant and was discovered by Indians. It belongs to the same grass family as barley,
rye, rice, wheat, and oats. When the Pilgrims landed in North America in 1620, the Indians gave them
maize to eat. They also showed the Pilgrims how to grow maize. The Pilgrims called the maize corn ,
which mean grains and Americans still call it corn today. The word corn has a different meaning
depending on what country you are in. According to the Department of Agronomy at Iowa State
University, corn in England means wheat and in Scotland and Ireland, it means barley or oats
(www.agron.iastate.edu). By drawing on documents and reports from the Pre Columbian American
era, I plan to discuss how corn was discovered, the importance of it, and how it was used by Pre
Columbian Americans.
Corn originated in Mesoamerican. Archeological evidence of corn s early presence in the western
hemisphere was identified from corn pollen grain considered to be 80,000 years old and obtained from
drill cores 200 feet below Mexico City (www.agron.iastate.edu). Evidence from bat caves in New
Mexico also identified corncobs that were approximately 5,600 years old (www.agron.iastate.edu).
Corn was domesticated by the native people and it became the most important cultivated plant in
ancient America. According to Gibson and Benson, cultivated corn came about by natural crossings,
possibly with gamagrass to yield teosinte and then with backcrossing of teosinte to primitive maize to

Racial Inequality During The Middle Ages Essay
I cannot think of a topic that is more controversial, and unsettling than race. The idea of race began in
the middle ages, but really starting taking foot when the America s were discovered. Since our country
was discovered, there has always been racial inequality. In colonial times Africans were used as
slaves, and the Native Americans (the ones who inhabited our country first) were pushed away to
reservations to make room for the white people. Skipping ahead a couple of decades to the Holocaust.
Jew s were widely executed because they did not fit Hitlers standard of a perfect person, (white). In
current times, there is still racial inequality, but the minority population is rising, and rallying for
equality. Being considered a white person in the United States is almost a blessing. White people are
automatically given a certain amount of white privilege once they are born. When walking down the
street, applying for a job, or university there are very little obstacles a white person will face. A non
white person is seen as threatening walking down the street, and less likely to get a job, or into a
university than a white person. When a white man walks into a room people will just call him a guy,
but if a black man walks into a room people will automatically refer to him as a black guy . This has
nothing to do with how he is dressed, how he talks, or how he behaves, but all on the color of his skin.
In the U.S., we are brought up to believe white is natural, and if

Analysis of Reliability Calculations in Mobile Ad hoc Networks
Sai Charan Goud Kolanu, Tejaswi Reddy Karemma
Department of Computer Engineering and Computer Science
California State University, Long Beach
Abstract
With the increasing dependency on wireless networks, the need for proper reliability analysis for
Mobile ad hoc networks (Manets) is also increasing. Failure of Manets in areas like warfare, nuclear
reactors, medical equipment and airplanes can lead to catastrophe. Unlike traditional networks,
measuring the reliability of Manets is a tedious task as it involves dynamically changing topology. The
existing methods for calculating reliability use two terminal analysis as the basis for calculation. It
uses the same method used for traditional computer networks to calculate reliability. However, the
method is not very efficient when it comes to the wireless networks as they are far different from
traditional networks. It is also a time consuming task to identify all the nodes and links in a wireless
network as nodes move freely in the network. In This paper, We are going to discuss about NLN(Node
Link Node) technique which reduces the complexity of analyzing the reliability in Manets.
Keywords: Manet, NodeLinkNode, Reliability.
INTRODUCTION:
The Mobile ad hoc networks is one of the emerging technologies today. The instability of the nodes in
a mobile ad hoc network makes it difficult to calculate the reliability of the network. When a node
moves freely move in a

The Mass Extermination Of European Jews
Alexander Burgazzoli History 233 Exam 3 December 6, 2013 The mass extermination of European
Jews was, without a doubt due to the actions of the Third Reich. The question up for debate was
whether this extermination was a product of Adolf Hitler s methodical planning and execution under
his direct order, or the accumulation of unplanned events driven by the Germans anti Semitic views?
These two polar opposite views of intentionalism and structuralism both have convincing evidence
that support each of their own theories. The intentionalism theory views Hitler as the mastermind
behind the Final Solution, and all the events that led up to the death of nearly six million Jews. It is
their idea that Hitler had been planning the annihilation of the Jewish community even years prior to
him taking complete control over Germany. The anti Semitic view, the greater part of the German
population shared could have been the driving force that leads structuralism ideas to form. This long
lasting hatred for Jews, especially after enduring such a humiliating defeat in World War I only gave
the rest of Germany more reason to turn on the Jews. They view these mass murders as simply an
unplanned set of circumstances that lead to the Final Solution. If one is looking at the Nazi party from
an intentionalist view point you could argue of a systematic chain of command that flowed from Hitler
through all the ranks bellow him. This ideology had the perception that what could

Fieldwork Process Analysis According to Williams and Menendez (2015) fieldwork process comprises of three factors that create momentum; results oriented action, awareness of observations, and other practices to generate new behaviors (p. 175). Although, fieldwork is a great strategy to create momentum it is important not to assign excessive fieldwork to the client (Williams Menendez, 2015). The purpose of fieldwork or homework is to produce affirmative energy (momentum) between the client and the coach. Moreover, it maintains the client motivated, driven, and focus resulting in a positive attitude helping the client achieving his/her goal. As a future coach, I believe that helping clients keep the momentum throughout the coaching process is vital to the success of the clients. Having and maintaining a proactive relationship with the coach is possible at the beginning of each session every time the coach and client work together. • 4. Concert Report For A Wind Concert Eric Fang, Wind Symphony Concert Report On Friday, October twenty second, Simi Valley High School had their fall concert, however, they only had two bands so there was not much to write about. The concert band opened up with, Apparitions, by Brian Balmages, which was a song with a very mysterious intro with the percussion. The song is later developed into a soprano winds melody which was very well balanced with its counter and support. Unfortunately before a very beautiful, yet eerie flute solo they were somewhat out of tune, and during it, the flutes were talking to each other. Later, the soprano melody turns into a brass dominated scene, with the trumpets being slightly too loud and overtaking the rest of the band. Overall, the piece was very well executed with great attacks, releases, and flow. However there was little to no vibrato in the song. After that song, The Magician s Secret, by Joseph Eidson was stated by a flute squeak, but evens out into a nice jumpy beginning. Throughout the many brass and high winds chords, they were mostly out of tune, but the pulsing and tempo was very well done and controlled which gave the theme of smoothness and elegance. While the band was going great with strong and obvious dynamics, one of the trumpets messed up and showed it. Luckily, a great story of adventure and curiosity manage to cover him up and retain the moving melody. As the song ended, I personally felt the end was a bit too staccato and the overall song had no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many customers prefer to bypass third party stores and rely on the brands own retail stores, (Kenra Investors 2017). By Foot Locker s suppliers also being member of the market and competing against the firm, this has given the suppliers more bargaining power. This is seen as an issue in Porter s Five Forces model, due to the suppliers having strong control and competitive forces with Foot Locker and the industry. Survival Observation Essay Earlier in the semester, my colleagues Bailley Vang, Zachary Wilson, and Haley Bennett and I voted for and decided that we would be searching for bats as our semester project. By covering areas in Clovis and Fresno with a Pettersson ultrasound detector and a small recorder, we aimed to take note of and confirm many sightings not only as an educational obligation, but also with a goal of spending time and having fun with friends close to midnight and prior to sunset. Starting off with Roeding Park in Fresno, we had initially believed that our numbers would sharply spike to the double digits as the place was comprised of tall trees with striking vegetation, making it optimal for a bat s habitat. The rule for reciprocation allows one individual to give something to another with confidence that is not being lost. (Cialdini 49) This rule is extremely powerful, often overwhelming. The Death With Dignity Act Death with Dignity Act Yellowing of the skin, hollowed in eyes, hair loss, and habitual wheezing or shortness of breath is only an insubstantial glimpse of the rancid face of leukemia. It is estimated that around 1 million people in the United States are living with a terminal illness (Pan 2). Some people may feel hopeless, like their life is now meaningless due to their circumstance, and the hand they have been dealt. When something of this magnitude occurs in ones life, doctor assisted suicide should never be an option, or even a thought on their mind. Human euthanasia is ethically, and morally wrong. It violates the principles of medical ethics that doctors take, it costs less to keep a person alive, rather than die, and if this medication falls into the wrong hands, a murder could come about from it. In the 19th century, there was an uprising in anesthesia use (Emanuel 1). In 1846, Dr. John Warren, Professor of Surgery, Harvard Medical School, author of Etherization; with surgical remarks, led the first operation using ether anesthesia. He noted that ether might be used in mitigating the agonies of death (Robinson 1). Doctors as well as physicians became more competent in the use of morphine injections for pain relief during the times of the Civil War, and this practice shortly became known on a wide scale (SC 1). There were many ways to write Japanese, each system with its own use for specific occasions. And yet, the idea of writing in the style of natural conversational Japanese was considered radical and inappropriate for literature by the general public. Japan already had a very strong literary history prior to the Meiji restoration, however, if the Japanese people were to take this heritage into the modern era then they would have to adapt to this new style of writing fiction. While studying Russian at Tôkyô gaikoku go gakkô, a student named Futabatei Shimei realised the inefficiency of the kanbun chô and gabuntai styles when translating Russian novels into Japanese. And through logical continuation, he understood that writing a Japanese novel for the modern era would mean having to drop these traditional writing styles as well. In January 1886, Futabatei met with Tsubouchi Shôyô. Shôyô s criticism, Shōsetsu Shinzui had struck a chord with Futabatei, who had envisioned many of the same ideas while reading Russian literature. Tsubouchi had himself published a novel known as Tōsei Shosei Kishitsu, which he had hoped would achieve his goals in becoming the book to bring Japanese literature into the modern era. Only about two feet each and almost a thousand years in between them, they have many concepts in common to their creation, build, and context with some differences in each category. Marble is what the statues are made of, as the hard material was in relative abundance in the Mediterranean area even in ancient times. Bits of paints on the Youth are still present as this would be completely polychromed with pigments to add to the lifelikeness of the statue. Not stated but the Good Shepherd looks like it had color at one point but wore off from years of being weathered. With the texture of the overall statue, the Bebenburg Youth had sheen and a smoothed appearance from that of the muscles and careful sanding down to idealism. The Shepherd has a rougher feel as maybe the artist wanted not to make it like Christ wore fine linen but a rough material like a poor shepherd would actually wear. At this point in early Christian art, Christ is very accessible to the masses as a poor youthful shepherd as most people could identify with shepherds and livestock as both were commonplaces in their simple lives. On the Bebenburg Youth the hair is a bit chunky and stylized than what natural hair acts in real life. The Good Shepherd also suffers the same fate. We see gender roles described in The Odyssey and To The Lighthouse that seem to share some similar ideas; however, the women in To The Lighthouse are more opressed than the women of The Odyssey. First, women in the Odyssey are typically submissive to men in house duties and marriage matters, like Telemachus telling his mother to get back to her loom in Book 1 and him deciding who his mother will marry in Book 2. Also, women are seen only by their identity of who their father or husband is, like the ghosts of women who approach Odysseus at the gates of the Underworld in Book 11. It will merely tell how it really was . The past had different norms and etiquette than today, and Twain was merely putting the reader into the perspective of those times. One can t judge the past and judge Twain s use of the word because in those days, the word was accepted, and not exactly racist . People who suffer from APD often have certain personality traits such as being charming, manipulative, insincere and incapable of love. Psychopathy is an extreme version of APD. In this essay, I am going to explore the question what is Antisocial Personality Disorder? I also wish to understand the difference between people who suffer from APD and people who suffer from psychopathy. Antisocial Personality Disorder affects 1 to 4 percentage of the population. Gazzaniga et al. (2016) outlines how APD is much more common in men than women. Also, nearly 50 percentage of prisoners meet the requirements to be diagnosed with APD. According to the DSM 5, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, APD cannot be diagnosed before the age of 18, but some form of antisocial behaviour must have been carried out before the age of 15. It states that true psychopaths have more extreme behaviour than those with APD and are pathological in their degree of callousness (Gazzaniga et al. 2016 p. 639). So what are the causes of APD? As part of the battle between Mordecai (the hero) and Haman (the villain), Haman plans Mordecai s death, but in the end the instrument of death is turned on Haman himself. According to the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV), Haman s wife suggested (verse 5:14) that a gallows fifty cubits [seventy five to eighty feet] high be made ... to have Mordecai hanged on it. The Jewish Publication Society of America Version (JPS). translation offers instead, Let a stake be put up ... to have Mordecai impaled on it. Verse 7:10 details the plot reversal: The King s men either hanged Haman on the gallows (NRSV) or impaled Haman on the stake (JPS). Which is it? Was it a gallows or stake? And was Haman hanged or impaled? King James Version (KJV), the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) and the New American Standard (NAS) render the beginning of the verse the same: So, they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. However, consider the NIV s take on the text: So, they impaled Haman on the pole he had set up for Mordecai. (and to be fair, the NRSV contains a note that it should be rendered on a tree by impalement ) Clearly, hanging by the neck until dead and being shoved on a sharpened, wide perimeter stick are two (2) separate ways of dying. Where does the discrepancy come from? There are two (2) questions here, as there always are with matters of translation. 1. The first is what the original Hebrew means. 2. The second is how best to say that in English. Let s look at the Hebrew to examine the two (2) words in dispute. Gallows (KJV)/Pole(NIV) 1. The Hebrew word is ets and it is the most often translated in the Bible as tree, piece of wood, or pole. 2. The only examples of the word being translated as gallows appear in The Book of Esther Hanged (KJV)/Impaled(NIV) 1. The Hebrew word talah is used here and is the source of complexity in interpreting the image of death. 2. The word translates most often in the Bible to mean suspend or hang, and there are numerous examples of people hung on ets throughout the OT: Genesis 40:19, Deuteronomy 21:22, Joshua 8:29 and 10:20, 1 Samuel 31:10, and 2 Samuel ... On one hand people believe Wal Mart is good for the economy because it saves the average consumer money due to the low priced products. Along with being an easy one stop shop where everything a person could possibly need is found there. Aside from the low prices and convenience, Wal Mart is bad for the American economy. In early December of 2005 a poll was commissioned by Wakeup Wal Mart, a union funded group that has been pressuring Wal Mart to raise employee ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Health Insurance has been another controversy in the debates of Wal Mart. Wal Mart employees, especially full time employees should get health care. The opposition to this is that aside from Starbucks no large employer gives health insurance to part time employees due to high costs of health care (Is Walmart Bad For The Economy). However compared with other large companies Wal Mart covers only 43% of employees with health insurance as oppose to the average 66% that other large companies cover. If Wal Mart were to reach the average coverage rate, they would be covering an additional 320,000 employees. Wal Mart employees are paid poorly if at all for their work and are rarely covered with health insurance. The Wal Mart corporation states that 90% of it s workers have health insurance. In actuality, the 90% who are covered, around 50% of those are insured because of their spouses employer, who, by the way, may be a union employer. Wal Mart is an anti union corporation. The first ever unionized Wal Mart was in Quebec, Canada. It was quickly shut down once is became unionized however, and this is not the only case like this. Many attempts have been made to change Wal Mart into a union employer, but all attempts have failed. Wal Mart is often portrayed as the big bad wolf of companies. It s accused of harming smaller mom and pop businesses. But it is in fact worse then that. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. Management and Conflict Resolution All conflict within an organization is detrimental to employees and the organization. Discuss. Conflict can be defined as a process that begins when one party perceives that another party has negatively affected, or it is about to negatively affect, something the first party cares about , (Huczynski and Buchanan, 2007). Huczynski and Buchanan (2007) also perceive conflict as a mental state which has to be acknowledged by the two parties involved to comply with its definition. In an organizational environment, conflict is strongly connected to managerial skills. There are different situations where conflict can occur but it is often a consequence of lack of communication, misunderstandings, disagreements which mean basic human ... Special liaison refers to using a more experienced member to train staff and offer broader information about their activities. All these methods of co ordination are mainly ways of hedging that people know their roles and responsibilities and how to be deployed. All of the measures above represent actions taken by organization in order to have a clear differentiation between employees and their roles and to co ordinate their functions. The reaction to this form or organizational order consists of perceptions and emotions from employees. Types of conflict French et al(2008) agree that another classification of conflict is made through communication levels: intrapersonal, interpersonal, intergroup conflict and interorganizational conflict. Intrapersonal conflict is usually the perception an individual has upon the goals and opportunities received. The best example would be choosing between equal alternatives. Interpersonal conflict occurs between two individuals and intergroup conflict is between larger groups such as departments. Interorganisational conflict occurs between organizations or larger units in large organizations, such as trade unions. According to Higgerson (1996) there are specific cues managers should follow in anticipating a conflict. Changes in behavior such as verbal or non verbal signs and change of attitude can all reflect how employees react to an uncomfortable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Maize in Pre-Columbian America Maize is a wild plant and was discovered by Indians. It belongs to the same grass family as barley, rye, rice, wheat, and oats. When the Pilgrims landed in North America in 1620, the Indians gave them maize to eat. They also showed the Pilgrims how to grow maize. The Pilgrims called the maize corn , which mean grains and Americans still call it corn today. The word corn has a different meaning depending on what country you are in. According to the Department of Agronomy at Iowa State University, corn in England means wheat and in Scotland and Ireland, it means barley or oats (www.agron.iastate.edu). By drawing on documents and reports from the Pre Columbian American era, I plan to discuss how corn was discovered, the importance of it, and how it was used by Pre Columbian Americans. Corn originated in Mesoamerican. Archeological evidence of corn s early presence in the western hemisphere was identified from corn pollen grain considered to be 80,000 years old and obtained from drill cores 200 feet below Mexico City (www.agron.iastate.edu). Evidence from bat caves in New Mexico also identified corncobs that were approximately 5,600 years old (www.agron.iastate.edu). Corn was domesticated by the native people and it became the most important cultivated plant in ancient America. According to Gibson and Benson, cultivated corn came about by natural crossings, possibly with gamagrass to yield teosinte and then with backcrossing of teosinte to primitive maize to ... • 43. Racial Inequality During The Middle Ages Essay I cannot think of a topic that is more controversial, and unsettling than race. The idea of race began in the middle ages, but really starting taking foot when the America s were discovered. Since our country was discovered, there has always been racial inequality. In colonial times Africans were used as slaves, and the Native Americans (the ones who inhabited our country first) were pushed away to reservations to make room for the white people. Skipping ahead a couple of decades to the Holocaust. Jew s were widely executed because they did not fit Hitlers standard of a perfect person, (white). In current times, there is still racial inequality, but the minority population is rising, and rallying for equality. Being considered a white person in the United States is almost a blessing. White people are automatically given a certain amount of white privilege once they are born. When walking down the street, applying for a job, or university there are very little obstacles a white person will face. A non white person is seen as threatening walking down the street, and less likely to get a job, or into a university than a white person. When a white man walks into a room people will just call him a guy, but if a black man walks into a room people will automatically refer to him as a black guy . This has nothing to do with how he is dressed, how he talks, or how he behaves, but all on the color of his skin. In the U.S., we are brought up to believe white is natural, and if ... • 44. Analysis Of Reliability Calculations On Mobile Ad Hoc... Analysis of Reliability Calculations in Mobile Ad hoc Networks Sai Charan Goud Kolanu, Tejaswi Reddy Karemma Department of Computer Engineering and Computer Science California State University, Long Beach Abstract With the increasing dependency on wireless networks, the need for proper reliability analysis for Mobile ad hoc networks (Manets) is also increasing. Failure of Manets in areas like warfare, nuclear reactors, medical equipment and airplanes can lead to catastrophe. Unlike traditional networks, measuring the reliability of Manets is a tedious task as it involves dynamically changing topology. The existing methods for calculating reliability use two terminal analysis as the basis for calculation. It uses the same method used for traditional computer networks to calculate reliability. However, the method is not very efficient when it comes to the wireless networks as they are far different from traditional networks. It is also a time consuming task to identify all the nodes and links in a wireless network as nodes move freely in the network. In This paper, We are going to discuss about NLN(Node Link Node) technique which reduces the complexity of analyzing the reliability in Manets. Keywords: Manet, NodeLinkNode, Reliability. INTRODUCTION: The Mobile ad hoc networks is one of the emerging technologies today. The instability of the nodes in a mobile ad hoc network makes it difficult to calculate the reliability of the network. When a node moves freely move in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The Mass Extermination Of European Jews Alexander Burgazzoli History 233 Exam 3 December 6, 2013 The mass extermination of European Jews was, without a doubt due to the actions of the Third Reich. The question up for debate was whether this extermination was a product of Adolf Hitler s methodical planning and execution under his direct order, or the accumulation of unplanned events driven by the Germans anti Semitic views? These two polar opposite views of intentionalism and structuralism both have convincing evidence that support each of their own theories. The intentionalism theory views Hitler as the mastermind behind the Final Solution, and all the events that led up to the death of nearly six million Jews. It is their idea that Hitler had been planning the annihilation of the Jewish community even years prior to him taking complete control over Germany. The anti Semitic view, the greater part of the German population shared could have been the driving force that leads structuralism ideas to form. This long lasting hatred for Jews, especially after enduring such a humiliating defeat in World War I only gave the rest of Germany more reason to turn on the Jews. They view these mass murders as simply an unplanned set of circumstances that lead to the Final Solution. If one is looking at the Nazi party from an intentionalist view point you could argue of a systematic chain of command that flowed from Hitler through all the ranks bellow him. This ideology had the perception that what could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
