The Incident Of My Mini Experiment
The incident
My opportunity to practice or implement my mini experiment when I was called in to a meeting
with the General Manager and several other staff. The goal was to review a major situation where
key components were not in stock. Resulting in the business not being able to function correctly
until resolved. My goal in relation to my mini experiment, was to remain engaged in the meeting
and not allow my default routine of mentally withdrawing and shutting down to take place for as
long as possible.
Incident insights
The meeting was heading for a finger pointing session this struck me of the chronically defeated
team (Tyson 2010), and how this leads to poor team performance. This frustrated me as I wanted to
contribute in a positive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is holding my breath for a three count, in order to stop my mouth from making comments I
regret. Instead allowing my mind to think of solutions or options to remain actively engaged in the
meeting and not withdraw into myself. When the time came I took the opportunity and employed
the circuit breaker.
Experiment outcomes, the good
The impact this had on the tone of the meeting was noticeable. It became apparent to me the
General Manager was expecting me to behave the way I had previously, having my mini meltdown.
When it became apparent I was not, and able to progress the conversation past the usual point he
appeared to be visible thrown by this. I felt he had already planned the exchange in his mind
before walking into the meeting. This had an unforeseen side effect as the General Manager had
lost control of the meeting and I was now effectively running it. We were able to address the
immediate issue and form action points to move forward. This is an example of me being able to
influence in real time in order to achieve positive goals for myself and others. Somehow I had
managed to remain detached yet engaged (Hughes 2015) resulting in a more productive experience.
Experiment outcomes, the bad
The next steps in the meeting was when I was unsuccessful in delaying my default routine. I
relinquished control of proceedings back to the General Manager. The overriding dynamic of the

1. Which of these retailers do you think is most effective and attractive and why? Lululemon is a
brand that is effective in how they attract college students into their management training programs.
Under their careers page, they showcase symbols that are vibrant in colour and feature young
individuals. The use of young individuals in their pictures can create a sense of belonging and
connection between the college students they are trying to attract. Their brand name and logo is a
memorable name and highly recognizable for many consumers. Their web page links to their online
website as well. This increases consumers recognition of Lululemon s brand associations, such as:
workout clothes/athletic wear, leggings, yoga, etc. The company s culture promotes a healthy
lifestyle, not only through physical activity, but also doing things that make you happy,
empowered, and encourages inner development. These are all attributes that many students
incorporate into their careers and use as a motivation tool. Their website has their logo centered at
the top, which is a recognizable and a distinct visual. As well, throughout their career page, they use
a dominant element of incorporating real people in photographs to draw attention and connections,
which can attract students to the company. Their overall layout is simple and easy to navigate

however, we wanted to add a humbling aspect to even out the playing fields between the teams
and build character amongst the fellow co workers: Cirque du Freaks. Cirque du Freaks represents
an eclectic group of individuals working together utilizing their unique attributes to put on an
amazing show. The Cirque du Freaks mantra also describes a well developed teamwork based
work environment where communication is the key to success. This is the core of the Client s goal
for this event.
Cirque du Freaks Wacky Olympics The Wacky Olympics was chosen to provide an avenue for

A Life Changing Day On My Life
I have been through a lot of events that have impacted my life dramatically. Something that
happened last August changed my outlook on a lot of things. August 10, 2016 was a life
changing day. This day started an event that made me appreciate life more, and taught me that
even the smallest thing could be a big difference in any outcome. August 10, 2016 was a life
changing day. This day was when I found out that my family needed to pack our cars with things
such as; clothes, personal items, and other accessories to move to a more safe area. Around nine O
clock a.m. was when we got the news that we needed to evacuate the area. We knew that this flood
was gonna be nothing to joke about, so we packed our things fairly quickly and made the decision
to drive to a friends house. Later that day, we showed up to their house with the idea that it was
not going to flood the area. The next morning, I woke up to my parents telling me that our house
has just been flooded and had gotten around two feet inside the house and I knew that we would
not be back in our home for a very long time. Next, everyone in the house was told that we needed
to sandbag the house because the flood might reach the inside and of course we would help,
considering that they took us in. After all, their neighbors and family members started grabbing
bags and filling them with sand to stack in front of the house. Throughout all of the hard work and
sweat, we soon came to find out that it was all for nothing. Not

Essay about Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation
Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation was founded in 1863 when Mr. Henry Williams purchased Old
Fort Park and donated it to the city of Fort Wayne. Since then, Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation
has continued to grow acquiring 85 more parks which include Reservoir Park in 1880, Foster
Park golf course in 1928, Fort Wayne s Children s Zoo in 1962, the Botanical Conservatory in
1979 and more recently Robert E. Meyer s Park in 2008. This organization does much more for
the community than just taking care of the city s parks. Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation also

budgeted for and planned a way to help save this tree species. For the past couple years, biannual
Ash tree treatments have been in place to help save the Ash trees of Fort Wayne. This past
summer 647 Ash trees in Fort Wayne were treated to prevent the Ash Borer from killing them.
Because this treatment is a biannual treatment, only half of the population of Ash trees was treated
the summer of 2013. The other half of the population was treated the previous summer and will be
treated again in the summer of 2014. (City of Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation, 2013) Davey
Resource group was the lowest bidder and took on the project of treating the Ash trees. Davey
Resource Group provides a full range of natural resource and utility consulting services to the
commercial, residential, municipal and governmental markets. (Davey)
The question arose about the cost benefits of treating the tree versus cutting them down. It cost
approximately $43.00 to treat one tree versus the $400.00 to cut the tree down, grind the stump
away, and plant a new tree in its place. Even though many Ash trees have been saved by this
treatment, it was too late for some. So far 10,500 Ash trees have been cut down in the city of Fort
Wayne because they were attacked by the Ash Borer. This year another 2,447 will be cut down

Evaluation Of A Research On Formative Feedback
3.Reviews/Commentaries
Shute,V. (2008). Focus on formative feedback. Review of Educational Research, 78(1), 153 189.
Shute conducts an extensive literature review of the research on formative feedback because
despite extensive investigation, the author proposes, is still misunderstood due to conflicting
findings and inconsistent pattern results. The focus of this review is that feedback must be
delivered correctly to be effective. Therefore, Shute offers a twofold proposal: to understand the
features, functions, and interactions of feedback in relation to learning and to use the findings to
create guidelines for generating effective formative feedback.
The focus of this study is primarily on performing tasks and the identified issues are several.
Correct delivery of feedback is defined and guidelines are proposed since most research on this
subject concludes that feedback can enhance learning considerably if delivered correctly. The
interaction of task and student characteristics is investigated to address the major gaps in
understanding that still exist, inclusively, instructional context in the efficiency of feedback.
The author defines formative feedback (FF) as information intended to change a student s thinking
or behavior to improve learning. It ought to be specific, helpful, timely, and not judgmental. Types
of FF are: confirmation of a correct answer, clarification of the accurate response, clues, and work
examples. Previous research by Swam (1983) found that

he is a ninja and that he has superpowers. Nakaba in Dawn of the Arcana is a young princess and
she fits that stereotype better than Naruto fits his stereotype of a boy. Nakaba has all things that

Negative Effects Of Technology On Communication
Technology has revolutionized communication and the world like nothing before. The Internet has
given the world a freedom never explored in the past. The Internet has broken communication
barriers to an extreme level. Now day s two people from two different countries can talk or chat
without interactions. Internethas given people the ability to connect forever through social
networking. Some of the biggest world social networking services are Facebook and Twitter.
Through technology communicationis made much easier, but the communication with the people
that are right next to us might be getting weak. Technology has its positive and negative impacts on
society. It could keep us informed, but it could also affect anyone s communication life. Even
though it s an easy communication barrier it s being over used by society every day. The Internet
has charge everyone and everything over the years, it has giving us the ability to be informed on a
much deeper level. Families are losing their communication, but not just because of technology. Not
everything is positive when it s about technology. It could help us connect no matter the distance,
but we could lose communication and relationships. The world has not yet notice that losing
important face to face communication because of technology it s important.
Although technology helps people keep in touch with the ones we can t see and it s faster to
communicate with anyone around the world. Even though technology removes

How Did Thomas Cromwell Influence European Society
Thomas Cromwell, Jean Baptiste Colbert and William Pitt each influenced their country and
changed the course of European history in their own way. Thomas Cromwell, often regarded as
a corrupt and ruthless politician, was also a dedicated evangelical, who s ideologies and
determination changed England s religious biases forever. Cromwell was one of the most
powerful and influential figures of the 16th century, his masterful skills of manipulation allowed
him rise all the way from the bottom of social hierarchy to almost having king like power. Jean
Baptiste Colbert was a trusted advisor to Louis XIV and a master of finance and mercantilism. He
made France s economy more unified and less chaotic. By creating standards and enforcing

Henry VIII was having trouble conceiving a male child with his current wife: Katharine of
Aragon. Henry wanted the current pope to give him an annulment so Henry could marry Anne
Boleyn. Wolsey was unsuccessful in his attempts due to interference from Katharine. This led
Henry to lose trust in Wolsey and led to his eventual fall from grace and death in 1529.
Cromwell was able to distance himself enough from Wolsey that when he fell, he did not take
Cromwell with him. This left Cromwell in the perfect position to fill the space that Wolsey left
empty. Through a series of events, the king enlisted Cromwell to use his legal skills to convince
parliament to create laws that undermine the authority of the pope, allowing Henry to divorce
Katharine without the pope s permission. Henry VIII was wildly impressed by Cromwell success,
Cromwell was granted the title Master of Jewels and invited to the English court. This complicated
situation is largely responsible for Cromwell s initial rise to power. (MacCulloch, Borman

We are well within the one week countdown mark to possibly one of the most hyped series of
Doctor Who in the show s five decade history. On the face of it, the series looks to be like any
other. One with lots of monsters, mystery and adventure. Also with the important point of it being
another Moffat series to add to his collection (which isn t a terrible collection at that).
So, what makes Series 9 that much more gripping, even before it airs? What have got Whovians
the world over raving about the series during the tenth anniversary year of the revival? Well in
this article, you will find all the answers to that question in six parts, and perhaps more reasons to
declare it one of the greatest series yet if it delivers on all aspects.

However, the majority of the episodes weren t even originally written for a Doctor of Peter s ilk,
which was never really publicised at the time, so the majority didn t know. They were all Matt
Smith scripts. This meant there were inconsistencies in my opinion in the way Twelfth was played.
It was as if in certain episodes he was one way, then the next few he was something else. It was a
jumbled characterisation at the time.
That is all change this year, as it truly is the time of the Twelfth Doctor. The scripts have been
manufactured exactly to the new Doctor s character, which promises more differences, but also
more consistency in his character this time around. We will be getting a more identifiable portrayal
of the Twelfth Doctor himself.
Peter is now far more comfortable in the role, and he will no doubt be giving it the best he has

The Tragic Women Of Tragedy
The Tragic Women of Tragedy Euripides and Sophocles wrote powerful tragedies that remain
influential to this day. The vast majority of work recovered from this time is by male authorship.
What remains about women of this time is written through the lens of male authors perspective and
beliefs about the role of women in Greek culture. The works of these two playwrights frequently
characterize women as unstable and dangerous. Agave, Antigone, and Medea are all undoubtedly
the driving force behind the tragic action in these plays. It is their choices that lead to the pain and
death of the people around them. Through an examination of the evidence from three separate
works, Antigone, The Bacchae, and The Medea, the role of women in ancient Greek tragedy
becomes clear. The actions of Agave, Antigone, and Medea repeatedly prove their characters
instability and danger. Agave in Euripidestragedy, The Bacchae, is a violent example of how
women were portrayed. Agave, the mother of Pentheus, joins the cult of Dionysus. Pentheus dresses
as a woman to spy on the Maenads because of a burning curiosity as to the possible sexual nature
of their gatherings. His plan is foiled when he is spotted hiding in a tree. The messenger depicts
the demise of Pentheus at the hands of Agave, But she was foaming at the mouth, and her crazy
eyes rolling with frenzy. She was mad, stark mad, possessed by Bacchus. Ignoring his cries pity,

Module 12 Nutrition And Health Essay
Module 12 discussed the form of energy used by the body and how to measure the used energy,
as well as discussing the causes and impacts of obesity. Energy comes in different forms, and
described by the first law of thermodynamics, energy can be converted from one form of energy
into another. Kilocalories are the form of energy found in food which is converted by the body
into the usable form of energy, ATP. Total energy expenditure is the amount of energy or
kilocalories a person needs to consume to maintain their body weight. The total energy expenditure
is the sum of the kilocalories lost or burned during daily activities, the basal metabolic rate and the

Obesity is commonly measured by using the body mass index, however body weight, waist
circumference, and weight to height ratios are other measures that can be used to determine
obesity. Obesity can be caused by decrease physical activity, increased food intake, and genetic
determinants that can affect energy consumption and/or energy expenditure. Obesity can cause
various health problem which can include an increased risk of diabetes mellitus type II, hypertension
, high LDL, and cardiac disease. A nonmedical way to lose weight is to make the energy input
less than the energy output, so the body is not storing excess energy in the form of fat. The
approaches of weight loss modify the energy input by eating a lesser amount of food, taking a
drug to inhibit macronutrient absorption, surgically decreasing the size of the stomach, and/or by
taking a drug that suppresses the appetite. If weight is lost too quickly by drastically reducing the
amount of kilocalories consumed, then it can cause cardiac complications, excessive loss of
potassium and proteins from the body, increase uric acid which can cause gallstones, and sudden
death. When a person loses weight at a healthy rate, it can decrease the risk factors that are caused

Why the Police were Unable to Catch Jack the Ripper Essay
Why the Police were Unable to Catch Jack the Ripper
In the Victorian Times, smog was a big problem. It made visibility extremely bad, so the murders
would have been harder to witness. There were lots of prostitutes because there weren t many
jobs available for woman, so they were forced on the streets. Most turned to alcohol. The people
out at the time of the murder would have been tramps and drunks, not reliable witnesses. The East

back. Like the Dear Boss letter, They didn t give it to the police for a few days, slowing down any
action that could have been taken.
The police had only just been set up when the murders occurred, so had no previous experience.
The only way to prove someone committed a murder was to catch them in the act or get a
confession. Though they increased the number of officers, they only ever came across the
bodies, warm. There was more than one police force operating in London at the time, which
meant that there was a lack of communication. In fact, the superior officers told their subordinates
to not reveal any evidence they retrieved to their rival force, each police force wanting the glory
of catching the Whitechapel murderer. The Metropolitan police force was responsible for all of
London, except the city of London, which had its own separate, City Police force. They were both
working on the case because one of the murders had been committed in the area where the City
Police operated, as opposed to the other ones which occurred in the Metropolitan police forces area.

Milton gives an expanded story of the Devil and his purpose and how he came about. The most
intriguing part of this story is when he tempts humans into eating from the tree of knowledge. This
part is important because of the impact that; this one event has had on our lives whether you
believe in it or not. In the bible this event is what ultimately lays out gender roles and the
responsibilities of men and women to one another. For the sin that Eve has committed and also

Great Expectations Social Class Analysis
Social status and money play a big role in our society today. This tends to affect how many are
treated. For example, the wealthy tend to get more recognition, due to their extreme amount of
money and the things they have. Whereas the lower class tends to get a bad reputation of being
known as uneducated, poor and common. This is well applied to many of the characters in the
book Great Expectations. In fact, social class and money determine how characters in Great
Expectations interact amongst each other. When some of these characters experience a class
that they are unfamiliar with, expecting great things, they are oblivious to how they treat their
peers. In the beginning of the book, we meet Pip and are introduced to his perspective of life.
Pip lives with his older sister, Mrs. Joe, and her husband, Joe Gargery. They could be described
as belonging to the lower end of the social class. ...Mrs. Joe Gargery, who married a blacksmith

changes Pip s perspective of himself and leads him to wanting to be known as uncommon. When
Pip later becomes wealthy, he changes into someone he is not. He begins to strongly mistreat
others, based on the contrast of social class between the different characters.

10 Things I Hate About You Chick Flick Analysis
A Chick Flick as broadly agreed upon is the kind of films that mostly appeal to a female audience.
Even the name itself is a bit offensive. It implies that films having female characters are
appealing just to women spectators, and films with men, as protagonists are more commonly
considered as widespread, while those who have bunches of ladies in them are so called Chick
Flicks , and in this way, a corner shallow kind. Most of the time these films convey the point that
ladies live happily ever after when they get the chance to discover intimate romance. Other Chick
Flicks introduce a solid female protagonist but, as the film advances the hero needs to change
herself of to adjust to her end goal to observe affection, to be recognized by her adoration intrigue,
or to fit into her partner s life. Most commonly the female protagonist is a stunningly beautiful
woman, who likewise happens to be blonde rather than a brunette, youthful, white and thin. Yet she
needs to have a blemish, which would make her more human and in this way, more relatable to lots
of people. 10 Things I Hate About Youis likely the most clear illustration. However she definitely
must be physically dazzling like all the female characters in the film, with a specific end goal to
keep the present magnificence ongoing.

Comparing Beowulf And Modern Hero s
Similarities Between Modern Hero s and Anglo Saxon Hero s
When you think of a hero or someone to look up to most adults and children think of heroes like
Spiderman and Superman, but heros come in many different shapes and sizes. What some people
don t realise is that there are heroes everywhere and anyone can be a hero. There are many
characteristics that set people apart from the average Joe to a hero. There are many differences
between Anglo Saxon heroes and modern day heros, but there are multiple similarities. Anglo
Saxon heroes such as Beowulf and modern heroes such as Charles Douglas Harris, and Omar
Grant have some kind of strength whether it is physically or mentally. They both have to be there
when someone needs help, and no matter what the circumstances are they have to be brave. If a
hero lacks in any of these areas they wouldn t even be considered a hero at all.
To be a great hero you have to be strong and be willing to fight anyone and anything. In Beowulf,
Beowulf was extremely physically strong, he showed his strength throughout the whole story, I

Communism And The Communist Manifesto
In this paper, I propose that the Communist Manifesto has only a weak correlation to current
world. To prove this, I will explore four key factors. First, I will summarize Communism and the
foundation of the Communist Manifesto using the designated class study materials. I believe that
it is essential for the reader to have a baseline upon which I will then explain my position. I will
also explore how Religion relates to the concept of universal justice in society and how it plays into
the communist manifesto. I will then analyze the impacts that technological evolution has had in
society and show that it does not always benefit mankind. Finally, I will conclude with a summary
of the strengths and weaknesses of the manifesto as it relates it to the present world.
Communism was a political view point that was invented by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. Marx
and Engels meet in 1844 and just 4 years later in 1848 they wrote and published, The communist
Manifesto . The goal was to detail the historical development that would lead to a post capitalist
society. They wanted capitalism to die because they believed social classes would lead to world
disaster. All that is solid melts into air, all that is holy is profaned and man is at last compelled to
face with sober senses his real conditions of life and his relation ions with his kind (pg10

Government Intervention John Micklethwait
Market failures exist when the private enterprise cannot efficiently produce goods and services
arising from externalities, limitation of market, transaction costs and asymmetrical information.
Just as the private sector in the free economy has produced market failures, government intervention
is necessary to address these failures because there is no invisible hand that could instinctively fix
the situation. Mindful of Milton Friedman s disapproval for costly governmentintervention and John
Micklethwait s qualified favor for such public action, my principles of government or nonprofit
intervention are built upon the essence that the government must protect the democratic values of
liberty, equality, equity and public welfare of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Inherently, self interest motivates market producers to pursue their economic goal of profit
maximization even at the expense of their competitors, an illustration of prisoner s dilemma.
Businesses have used production inputs that permanently damaged common natural resources such
as petroleum reserves, earth s atmosphere and biodiversity. Other effects include global warming
and depleted resources for future generations. Privatization of the common pool goods does not
guarantee that the market can avert the phenomenon. The government will have to inevitably
assign specific property rights over renewable natural resources. Alternatively, the state can also
adopt policies that encourage private enterprise or individuals to develop or use green energies as
alternative to the traditional energy sources in the case of the Environmental Protection Agency.
Lastly, the government can complement with nonprofits in implementing programs that address
market failures. Nonprofits are not bounded by profit distribution thereby facilitating them to adopt
missions to sustain social value and continuously pursue opportunities to innovate, learn and adapt.
As an example, World Wildlife Fund has a mission of environmental conservation and implements
activities to protect the global natural

racial preference in the voting patterns for the mayoral race, where 82% of Latino voters
supported the Latino candidate Villaraigosa, 79% of black voters supported the white candidate

candidate voted based on the issue and position that the candidate was running on, but for Latino
voters who voted for the white candidate, the context of the race mattered less (Abrajano, Nagler,
Alverez, 2005). In the spatial model, voter s ideology had a positive significance in both races

Critical Thinking Research Paper
Without critical thinking, humans would be at the state that existed thousands of years ago, where
people believed everything they saw and experienced as magic, not as natural phenomena. Critical
thinking gives us the ability to form clear and rational judgments to separate what is true from what
is imaginary. It takes into account both our own internal experience and the external world. The
critical thinker is consistent, uses logic, connects ideas, judges the relevancy or irrelevancy of
ideas, recognizes and avoids preconceptions and mistakes, analyzes and solves potential problems,
forms sound arguments, and is able to explain and justify his or her own beliefs and conclusions to

Thinkers at this stage recognize that they have basic problems in their thinking and make initial
attempts to better understand how they can take charge of and improve it. Based on this initial

into deeper levels of the trouble inherent in their thinking. Most importantly, they lack a systematic
plan for improving their thinking, hence their efforts are hit and miss.
Relevant Intellectual Traits: Naturally inherent in master thinkers are all the essential intellectual
characteristics, deeply integrated. Accomplished thinkers have a high degree of intellectual
humility, intellectual integrity, intellectual perseverance, intellectual courage, intellectual empathy,

Informal Borrowing and Lending in Rural Finance
INFORMAL BORROWING AND LENDING IN RURAL FINANCE
INTRODUCTION
This paper presents an assessment of informal borrowing and lending in rural finance with a focus
on its advantages and disadvantages. It examines a number of issues related to the functioning of
rural credit markets, determinants of rural interest rates, why the government intervenes in rural
credit markets and how.
BACKGROUND Commercial banks and other formal institutions fail to take care of the credit
needs of peasants, however, mainly due to their lending terms and conditions. It is generally the
rules and regulations of these formal financial institutions that have created the myth that the poor
are not bankable, and since they can t afford the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also mentions the less traditional and informal forms of collateral acceptable in rural markets
and the convenience it gives poor peasants. Many of these rural dwellers live in subsistence and
can only use farm produce, livestock, labour etc as collateral in exchange for loans. He further
states that with informal borrowing, the circumstances surrounding the applicant are considered
when the financial assistance is being offered. This offers the advantage of having special
considerations even when the criteria for lending are not met. In short, the informal market does
not have set standards to measure up to when financial services are needed, and therefore they are
able to offer flexible services according to individual needs.
Motamen Samadian (2012) accedes to these claims in her presentation, identifying intimate
knowledge of requirement and abilities between lenders and borrowers, better rates of loan
recovery as far as the lenders are concerned, repayment flexibilities and minimum protocol as the
advantages of informal credit. There are, however, many limitations and disadvantages of informal
credit. In 1981, Stiglitz and Weiss in their work established a link between information asymmetry,
adverse selection and moral hazard. In their analysis, interest rates charged by a lender is seen as
having a dual role of sorting potential borrowers, leading to adverse selection and affecting the

Michael Jackson s Influence On Pop Culture
Albert Einstein, Robin Williams, Shakespeare, every one of the people have greatly influenced the
world today. Among the list of extremely influential people lies, Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson
was born in 1958 in Gary, Indiana. Jackson was a man of many talents, an entertainer, a
philosopher, a recording artist, and the list goes on. With his extravagant personal life, his
contribution to music and fashion, and his widely known dance moves/skills, he turned out to be
the most influential person in popular culture for over forty years. Throughout his life, Michael
Jacksonheavily influenced today s top artists, the technological realm of music videos and the TV
industry, and heavily impacted charities.

The first and most evident Jackson follower was Usher. For many years, Usher has been
depicted as the next Michael Jackson (Montgomery). Similarly to Michael Jackson s Thriller,
Usher s album, Confessions, contains an abundance of styles. Starting with an intense classic,
and ending with a deep, raw ballad. Like Jackson, Usher used his musical talent to move beyond
simple pop balladry and develop a pure, singular artistic vision (Keyes). Usher himself states, I
wouldn t be who I am today without Michael Jackson. Although Jackson s influence on pop
music artists was far more evident, one can still see his influence in hip hop artists such as,
Kanye West. Kanye portrays the superstar ambition, which is the desire to accomplish
everything bigger and better than anyone and everyone and the power to bring one unified
vision to a mass of people, that Jackson portrayed as well. Additionally, Justin Timberlake was
greatly influenced by Michael Jackson. Just like Michael, Timberlake outgrew the band he
started with and launched his solo career. Timberlake kick started his career with a music video
that was undeniably similar to Michael Jackson s video with the choreography to the costuming.
Another famous pop singer that uses Michael Jackson s methods is, Katy Perry. Jackson and
Katy Perry have been some of the only musicians to be able to oscillate between universal
anthems and personal ballads (Beaumont Thomas). Finally, considerably most influenced by
Michael Jackson is, Chris Brown. From his seemingly impossible dance skills to his Michael
Jackson inspired fedoras, Chris Brown dedicates almost his entire style for singing, dancing, and
fashion to his idol, Michael Jackson. Brown himself states, Michael Jackson is the reason why I do
music and why I am an entertainer. Although Michael Jackson died over seven years ago, he still

My Experience In Football
Football has been a major part of my life for seven years now, it has also taught me many
important life lessons never give up in difficult times, always work as a team and never put
yourself first. During my years of playing, I ve gotten injured multiple times and I came back
stronger but this time it ll be harder.
On the third play of defense I shot off the line and barely slipped by the offensive tackle who
aimed to take out my legs. I bolted down the line pursuing the ball carrier in a mass of offenders
and I was getting ready to tackle the running back. I had planted my foot to help tackle the running
back and all of a sudden the bottom part of my left leg crunched. I tried to get off the ground but
it was difficult. I kept trying to stand up, but my leg wouldn t let me, it kept knocking me off of
my feet. I eventually got up on my right leg and started hopping to the side line. The whole time
I was screaming at the coaches to get me a substitute and I was cursing as well. I was about
halfway to the sideline before I started crying, but I wasn t crying because it hurt, I was crying
because this was my year to do the best that I ever had in football, my senior year. I got to the
sideline and the coaches guided me to the bench and sat me down. The trainer Mike, Rachel, and
one of the coaches kept telling me everything will be okay. I couldn t even listen to them. They
were just distant voices when they were talking, it just made me aggravated. I knew it wasn t okay.

Punishment
Experimental literature provides abundant evidence on the willingness of individuals to take costly
action to affect others, even if such yield no future benefits. The phenomenon is robust for changes
in experimental settings and has been replicated numerous times. For example, some papers report
about rejections of strictly positive offers in the Ultimatum game that result in both participants
receiving nothing (cite{gut1982}, cite{bin1985}, cite{rot1991}, cite{for1994}, cite{bol1995},

It fulfills two purposes: 1) alteration of the distribution of resources possessed by the parties 2)
informing the targeted party about the inflicted damage. Which of the two is valued by the

offer two hypothesis. According to cite{fri1994} and cite{hei2013} it is the former that is
essential, as the primary motivation of the punishers is ``pain equalization . cite{fr2001} suggests
that without the awareness of the punished, punishment has no value to the individual
administering it. The hypotheses were tested by cite{gol2009}, who allege that punishment is only
satisfactory if conducted by the injured, as opposed to a penalty by fate, and just if a transgressor
understands the reasons for being punished. The authors conclude that retribution serves to convey
a message, not to equalize pain. Their conclusion is mostly supported by cite{gol2011}. Both
cite{gol2009} and cite{gol2011} used techniques popular with psychologists, such as a lexical
decision task and self reported satisfaction from punishment, to learn about post hoc satisfaction of
the injured party from the retribution. Therefore, the preferences in the two studies are measured
indirectly, rather than by observing their choices. A more common approach for economists, based

In order to explain the relationship between discipline and obedience from a Montessori
perspective, it would be useful define and compare the more common explanations of these terms
with the interpretations of Maria Montessori. The development of the child within the Montessori
setting and in particular the maturational development of discipline, obedience and the will shall
then be discussed. In so doing, a very close and almost symbiotic relationship between all three will
become apparent.
Discipline is commonly thought of as something that is done to a child in order to achieve
obedience. It is seen as a form of control that implies a denial of freedom. According to

Montessori called this the first stage of obedience (Montessori, 2007a).
At around the age of 2 ВЅ to 3 however, consciousness emerges and all that has been stored up in
the Mneme, together with new information, begins to come into the conscious mind, transforming
into memory and reason. The child has is now entering the second phase of the Absorbent Mind,
known as the Social Embryonic stage (Montessori, 2007a). Montessori (1963) describes the child
as unbalanced and having certain deviations (lack of control or discipline resulting in possible
aggression or passivity). Importantly, with respect to discipline and obedience, it is when the
horme and egocentricity begin to wane and the child becomes more aware of others and their
needs. It is at this stage that the child enters the Nursery.
Through her observations, Montessori held that a child will pass through several sensitive periods
during the Absorbent Mind, where he/she has an intrinsic sensibility to acquiring particular skills
beneficial to his/her development (Montessori, 2007a). He/she is drawn to particular activities
that will match the particular sensitivity such as a sensitivity to order or small objects for
example. It is for these reasons that Montessori saw the need to develop an environment that
would enable every possibility for the child to fulfill all of these needs and that failure to do so
could result in physical, social and mental instability. The more the young are placed in

Comparing Central Minnesota s City And Rural Life
Just Over an Hour Away
The city of Minneapolis, Minnesota is booming with life! With its convention center, night life
noise, busy highways, advertised attractions, and sports related events, the city life expectations
satisfy both visitors and residents. It is typical to assume that the high end activities and busy
nightlife attract political feuds and noise because they are located in the city. Nonetheless, this is
not the case for some of Central Minnesota s rural life found in places such as Riverview, Sterns
County, Baker Township, and parts of Saint Cloud. So, comparing Central Minnesota s city and
rural life, where are peace and beauty located?
There is a continuous political struggle between the acceptance of dairy farm growth and feedlot
growth midst some of the family owned businesses in the rural areas. Insomuch, the largest milk
producer wanted to invest about 55 million into a dairy feedlot last year, but regulators proposed
environmental concerns such as nitrate pollution in the water, manure smell, and large scale
confinement of farm animals claiming it interferes with the beautiful side of country living. This
family is known to have over 35,000 dairy cows currently working up to 22 hours a day giving
them the competitive edge. Although this may appear somewhat monopolistic, it does provide
employment opportunities for many as well as financial economic development for the entire State
of Minnesota.

Society has a different intake in everything, as individual we are expected to do certain things, live
certain way, and be certain way. Occasionally, when we fail to live to these expectations we are
often excluded from certain groups and may not regarded as typical human beings. The term Mental
Retardation might be the perfect fit when it comes to describing the slow development of the
brain; however, this term has a bad connotation. In the early years the word retardation was used as
a replacement for word such as idiot, imbecile, morons and cretin (Hingston, 2011). Many

In order to determine whether a hydrocarbon produced heat upon altering its chemical state, a

placed in a combustion cup within a stainless steel cylinder enveloped in water, sealed shut by a

Considering the effective heat capacity is separate from the bomb calorimeters measurements of
standard heat of combustion, the value of the ∆rCv,cal can be identified through calibrating the
instrument with benzoic acid. However, the temperature change of the benzoic acid must be
measured first. In order to measure this temperature change, the following equation can be used.
∆T=T_c T_A r_1 (b a) r_2 (c b) (2)
Where Tc is the final temperature, TA is the initial temperature, r1 is the slope of the pre ignition,
r2 slope of the post rise period, a is the firing time, b is the temperature at 60% of total rise, and c

The Causes Of Professional Football
Nobody who ever gave his best regretted it said George S. Halas, former Chicago Bears head
coach. I do not share this same opinion. Professional football is a game of intense passion,
aggression, and power. I asked myself, how can a game that brings so much joy and comradery
to America be so dangerous? Football is known for its memorable game winning touchdowns and
hard hits the players receive. That is what we see on the news and in the papers. We don t see all
the injuries these players develop over time, all the painthey go through. Professional football
causes not only physical injuries but mental injuries that can lead to druguse. This is a very hard
topic to write about because it is a sport we have all come to know and love, but the truth of the
mater is that our professional football players are getting hurt. During a regular football season
9.1% of professional football players injure their ankle or foot, 50.4% of players injure their leg
and knees, 11.9% injure their back and spine, 16.9% their shoulder and arm, and 4.3% injure
their neck. The healing process of these injuries can be as little as 2 days but up to 20 weeks. The
impact these players receive from hitting and running into each other is not something the human
body was made for. The wear and tear one s body goes through is painful and can lead to long
term injuries even after they have ended their football career, such as arthritis and joint pain.

Similarities And Differences Between Dinosaurs,...
For years, many discoveries and assumptions have been made about dinosaurs. All around the
world, new dinosaur fossils are found and paleontologist continued to be baffled and amazed at the
traits these creatures possessed. Naturally, researchers ask questions about the newly discovered
fossils. Was this dinosauraquatic? Is it a herbivore or a carnivore? Did it take care of its young?
There are many theories based on the appearance of fossils and what they can tell us by studying
the modern day animals. Basically, it all comes down to what can the physical traits of these
dinosaurs tell us about its behavior? In my research, I analyze articles about the different traits that
three of the carnivorous dinosaurs; Giganotosaurus, Spinosaurus, and T Rex possessed that made
them seem like the top hunters of their time period. I researched how each of their unique attributes
could have affected their behavior and how that could have played a role in their environment.
Although, Spinosaurus, T Rex and Giganotosarus have been known as the apex predators of their
time period, their behavior is mostly assumed by what their traits tell us.
Spinosaurus s behavior is assumed to be that of a semi aquatic predator. According to the article
The riddle of Spinosaurus aegyptiacus dorsal sail , it possessed traits similar to other aquatic
animal such as . . .its skull s ability to attack or grab prey under water through dorsoventral
excursions, or its bone density, resembling the degree of

Richard Pryor Comic Style
Did you know that Richard Pryor was one of the most famous comedians of his time and is still
very well known? He was born on December 1, 1940, in Peoria, IL by his mother Gertrude L.
Thomas. As a young boy, Richard was raised in a brothel where his mother worked and was
doing things no young child should see, and he couldn t live with his father because he was a
treacherous pimp and was not fit to raise young Richard. As a boy, he was very fond of his
grandmother and that was one reason for his motherwas always gone and not really in his life and
his grandmother was the only adult really involved in his life. When he was only six years old
Richard was sexually assaulted by a neighbor, and he was also abused by a priest when he was an
altar boy.
Early in his comedian career, Richard was modeling his comedy, which was based mostly on Bill
Cosby s work. One of the main reasons he changed his comic style was from a performance in Las
Vegas when he saw Dean Martin in the crowd and in that moment he questioned what he was doing
and why he was doing it. So during the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Let s start with setting himself on fire When Richard and his friend were watching a movie
about a monk who set himself on fire as an act of protest or a sign of resistance. Some believe
otherwise because in an interview done with Pryor he said that he had caught on fire by
freebasing cocaine and another incident when he doused himself with 151 proof rum and was
gonna set himself to ashes. Another set of interesting things about Pryor he was quite the ladies
man, or he just had commitment issues. He had seven wives and only one of these seven
marriages lasted longer than a year. In his most recent or his last marriage, it was their second time
getting married for the first time just hours after hitched, he was in his hotel and he already wanted a

Types of Merchandising
Chapter I Merchandising Introduction, role, functions, types Mrs. Manju is on a visit to the
neighborhood store. It sells a variety of daily essentials. She asked for jam. The merchant in the
store brought it to her from the shelf at the back of the counter. She paid the bill and left the store
with the bottle of jam. We notice that the merchant sold merchandise jam to Mrs. Manju. If the
jam is in the store, Mrs. Manju will not know of its existence. She is aware of it only when the
merchant showed it personally. Consider also that as the bottle of jam is on display on the shelf at
the back of the counter, when Mrs. Manju entered the store she saw it from a distance. When she
asked for it, the merchant readily brought the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Delhi woolens come on for display in the month of November in stores. Merchandising is
finding the right product to display at the right time and right place with right price. We considered
above merchandising situations in retail stores. But how are the products brought to the store?
What do we call the activities before they reach the store? Who buys them for the store? Where do
the products come from? What did they cost? How are they made and moved to the store location?
And, finally who prices these products? All these activities are called merchandising. If you look in
the Merriam Webster dictionary, it tells us that the word was coined in 1932, and defines it as, sales
promotion as a comprehensive function including market research, development of new products,
coordination of manufacture and marketing, and effective advertising and selling. Merchandising
as an activity starts with market research and ends with sale of merchandise. The chain of
intermediate activities between these forms the functions of merchandising. Some of these
activities are store space buy price display sale, while others are source sample cost production
quality packing delivery. We can thus attribute these activities to two segments of the chain. The
Retail segment and the Vendor segment. We have thus two functions of merchandising Retail
Vendor (Production) that we will discuss

The goal was to review a major situation where key components were not in stock. Resulting in the business not being able to function correctly until resolved. My goal in relation to my mini experiment, was to remain engaged in the meeting and not allow my default routine of mentally withdrawing and shutting down to take place for as long as possible. It became apparent to me the General Manager was expecting me to behave the way I had previously, having my mini meltdown. When it became apparent I was not, and able to progress the conversation past the usual point he appeared to be visible thrown by this. I felt he had already planned the exchange in his mind before walking into the meeting. This had an unforeseen side effect as the General Manager had lost control of the meeting and I was now effectively running it. We were able to address the immediate issue and form action points to move forward. This is an example of me being able to influence in real time in order to achieve positive goals for myself and others. Somehow I had managed to remain detached yet engaged (Hughes 2015) resulting in a more productive experience. August 10, 2016 was a life changing day. This day started an event that made me appreciate life more, and taught me that even the smallest thing could be a big difference in any outcome. August 10, 2016 was a life changing day. This day was when I found out that my family needed to pack our cars with things such as; clothes, personal items, and other accessories to move to a more safe area. Around nine O clock a.m. was when we got the news that we needed to evacuate the area. We knew that this flood was gonna be nothing to joke about, so we packed our things fairly quickly and made the decision to drive to a friends house. Later that day, we showed up to their house with the idea that it was not going to flood the area. The next morning, I woke up to my parents telling me that our house has just been flooded and had gotten around two feet inside the house and I knew that we would not be back in our home for a very long time. Next, everyone in the house was told that we needed to sandbag the house because the flood might reach the inside and of course we would help, considering that they took us in. After all, their neighbors and family members started grabbing bags and filling them with sand to stack in front of the house. Throughout all of the hard work and sweat, we soon came to find out that it was all for nothing. Not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(City of Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation, 2013) Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation organization budgeted for and planned a way to help save this tree species. For the past couple years, biannual Ash tree treatments have been in place to help save the Ash trees of Fort Wayne. This past summer 647 Ash trees in Fort Wayne were treated to prevent the Ash Borer from killing them. Because this treatment is a biannual treatment, only half of the population of Ash trees was treated the summer of 2013. The other half of the population was treated the previous summer and will be treated again in the summer of 2014. Davey Resource Group provides a full range of natural resource and utility consulting services to the commercial, residential, municipal and governmental markets. It cost approximately $43.00 to treat one tree versus the $400.00 to cut the tree down, grind the stump away, and plant a new tree in its place. Even though many Ash trees have been saved by this treatment, it was too late for some. So far 10,500 Ash trees have been cut down in the city of Fort Wayne because they were attacked by the Ash Borer. This year another 2,447 will be cut down also. Mudrack Tree Experts have ... Shute conducts an extensive literature review of the research on formative feedback because despite extensive investigation, the author proposes, is still misunderstood due to conflicting findings and inconsistent pattern results. The focus of this review is that feedback must be delivered correctly to be effective. Therefore, Shute offers a twofold proposal: to understand the features, functions, and interactions of feedback in relation to learning and to use the findings to create guidelines for generating effective formative feedback. The focus of this study is primarily on performing tasks and the identified issues are several. Correct delivery of feedback is defined and guidelines are proposed since most research on this subject concludes that feedback can enhance learning considerably if delivered correctly. The interaction of task and student characteristics is investigated to address the major gaps in understanding that still exist, inclusively, instructional context in the efficiency of feedback. The author defines formative feedback (FF) as information intended to change a student s thinking or behavior to improve learning. It ought to be specific, helpful, timely, and not judgmental. Types of FF are: confirmation of a correct answer, clarification of the accurate response, clues, and work examples. Previous research by Swam (1983) found that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cromwell was able to distance himself enough from Wolsey that when he fell, he did not take Cromwell with him. This left Cromwell in the perfect position to fill the space that Wolsey left empty. The vast majority of work recovered from this time is by male authorship. What remains about women of this time is written through the lens of male authors perspective and beliefs about the role of women in Greek culture. The works of these two playwrights frequently characterize women as unstable and dangerous. Agave, Antigone, and Medea are all undoubtedly the driving force behind the tragic action in these plays. It is their choices that lead to the pain and death of the people around them. Through an examination of the evidence from three separate works, Antigone, The Bacchae, and The Medea, the role of women in ancient Greek tragedy becomes clear. The actions of Agave, Antigone, and Medea repeatedly prove their characters instability and danger. Agave in Euripidestragedy, The Bacchae, is a violent example of how women were portrayed. Agave, the mother of Pentheus, joins the cult of Dionysus. Pentheus dresses as a woman to spy on the Maenads because of a burning curiosity as to the possible sexual nature of their gatherings. His plan is foiled when he is spotted hiding in a tree. The messenger depicts the demise of Pentheus at the hands of Agave, But she was foaming at the mouth, and her crazy eyes rolling with frenzy. First, I will summarize Communism and the foundation of the Communist Manifesto using the designated class study materials. I believe that it is essential for the reader to have a baseline upon which I will then explain my position. I will also explore how Religion relates to the concept of universal justice in society and how it plays into the communist manifesto. Finally, I will conclude with a summary of the strengths and weaknesses of the manifesto as it relates it to the present world. Critical Thinking Research Paper Without critical thinking, humans would be at the state that existed thousands of years ago, where people believed everything they saw and experienced as magic, not as natural phenomena. Critical thinking gives us the ability to form clear and rational judgments to separate what is true from what is imaginary. It takes into account both our own internal experience and the external world. The critical thinker is consistent, uses logic, connects ideas, judges the relevancy or irrelevancy of ideas, recognizes and avoids preconceptions and mistakes, analyzes and solves potential problems, forms sound arguments, and is able to explain and justify his or her own beliefs and conclusions to others.39 upvotes bullet; Updated 24w ago bullet; Asked... Most importantly, they lack a systematic plan for improving their thinking, hence their efforts are hit and miss. Informal Borrowing and Lending in Rural Finance INFORMAL BORROWING AND LENDING IN RURAL FINANCE INTRODUCTION This paper presents an assessment of informal borrowing and lending in rural finance with a focus on its advantages and disadvantages. It examines a number of issues related to the functioning of rural credit markets, determinants of rural interest rates, why the government intervenes in rural credit markets and how. BACKGROUND Commercial banks and other formal institutions fail to take care of the credit needs of peasants, however, mainly due to their lending terms and conditions. Many of these rural dwellers live in subsistence and can only use farm produce, livestock, labour etc as collateral in exchange for loans. He further states that with informal borrowing, the circumstances surrounding the applicant are considered when the financial assistance is being offered. This offers the advantage of having special considerations even when the criteria for lending are not met. In short, the informal market does not have set standards to measure up to when financial services are needed, and therefore they are able to offer flexible services according to individual needs. Motamen Samadian (2012) accedes to these claims in her presentation, identifying intimate knowledge of requirement and abilities between lenders and borrowers, better rates of loan recovery as far as the lenders are concerned, repayment flexibilities and minimum protocol as the advantages of informal credit. There are, however, many limitations and disadvantages of informal credit. In 1981, Stiglitz and Weiss in their work established a link between information asymmetry, adverse selection and moral hazard. Among the list of extremely influential people lies, Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson was born in 1958 in Gary, Indiana. Jackson was a man of many talents, an entertainer, a philosopher, a recording artist, and the list goes on. With his extravagant personal life, his contribution to music and fashion, and his widely known dance moves/skills, he turned out to be the most influential person in popular culture for over forty years. For many years, Usher has been depicted as the next Michael Jackson (Montgomery). Similarly to Michael Jackson s Thriller, Usher s album, Confessions, contains an abundance of styles. Starting with an intense classic, and ending with a deep, raw ballad. Like Jackson, Usher used his musical talent to move beyond simple pop balladry and develop a pure, singular artistic vision (Keyes). Usher himself states, I wouldn t be who I am today without Michael Jackson. Although Jackson s influence on pop music artists was far more evident, one can still see his influence in hip hop artists such as, Kanye West. Kanye portrays the superstar ambition, which is the desire to accomplish everything bigger and better than anyone and everyone and the power to bring one unified vision to a mass of people, that Jackson portrayed as well. Additionally, Justin Timberlake was greatly influenced by Michael Jackson. Just like Michael, Timberlake outgrew the band he started with and launched his solo career. Timberlake kick started his career with a music video that was undeniably similar to Michael Jackson s video with the choreography to the costuming. Another famous pop singer that uses Michael Jackson s methods is, Katy Perry. Jackson and Katy Perry have been some of the only musicians to be able to oscillate between universal anthems and personal ballads (Beaumont Thomas). Finally, considerably most influenced by Michael Jackson is, Chris Brown. From his seemingly impossible dance skills to his Michael Jackson inspired fedoras, Chris Brown dedicates almost his entire style for singing, dancing, and fashion to his idol, Michael Jackson. During my years of playing, I ve gotten injured multiple times and I came back stronger but this time it ll be harder. On the third play of defense I shot off the line and barely slipped by the offensive tackle who aimed to take out my legs. I bolted down the line pursuing the ball carrier in a mass of offenders and I was getting ready to tackle the running back. I had planted my foot to help tackle the running back and all of a sudden the bottom part of my left leg crunched. I tried to get off the ground but it was difficult. I kept trying to stand up, but my leg wouldn t let me, it kept knocking me off of my feet. I eventually got up on my right leg and started hopping to the side line. The whole time I was screaming at the coaches to get me a substitute and I was cursing as well. I was about halfway to the sideline before I started crying, but I wasn t crying because it hurt, I was crying because this was my year to do the best that I ever had in football, my senior year. According to cite{fri1994} and cite{hei2013} it is the former that is essential, as the primary motivation of the punishers is ``pain equalization . cite{fr2001} suggests that without the awareness of the punished, punishment has no value to the individual administering it. The hypotheses were tested by cite{gol2009}, who allege that punishment is only satisfactory if conducted by the injured, as opposed to a penalty by fate, and just if a transgressor understands the reasons for being punished. The authors conclude that retribution serves to convey a message, not to equalize pain. Their conclusion is mostly supported by cite{gol2011}. Both cite{gol2009} and cite{gol2011} used techniques popular with psychologists, such as a lexical decision task and self reported satisfaction from punishment, to learn about post hoc satisfaction of the injured party from the retribution. At around the age of 2 ВЅ to 3 however, consciousness emerges and all that has been stored up in the Mneme, together with new information, begins to come into the conscious mind, transforming into memory and reason. The child has is now entering the second phase of the Absorbent Mind, known as the Social Embryonic stage (Montessori, 2007a). Montessori (1963) describes the child as unbalanced and having certain deviations (lack of control or discipline resulting in possible aggression or passivity). Importantly, with respect to discipline and obedience, it is when the horme and egocentricity begin to wane and the child becomes more aware of others and their needs. It is at this stage that the child enters the Nursery. Through her observations, Montessori held that a child will pass through several sensitive periods during the Absorbent Mind, where he/she has an intrinsic sensibility to acquiring particular skills beneficial to his/her development (Montessori, 2007a). He/she is drawn to particular activities that will match the particular sensitivity such as a sensitivity to order or small objects for example.
