Negative Attributes of Old Society Essay
Negative Attributes of Old Societies Starting out, you have to compare the negatives of the Polis from
Medea to the negatives of the romanitas from Ovid. There were many negatives that we saw and read
about in the book of Medea. The main negative was the state power. Of the state power there was the
Bureaucrats, Politicians and the Lawyers. These three groups of people had the entire control over
what would happen in their society. Even though Medea was a very loyal woman to her husband
Jason, she resented the state power and in turn Jason gave her up. Jason was very loyal to the state
power of the elites. Both of them were very loyal, but loyal for two different causes. Here is a quote
from Jason explaining why he came to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have no strength to drive these enemies from the house: you must come quickly, to your harbour and
refuge! You ve a son, and I pray he ll be one who, in his tender years, will be educated in his father s
arts...(goes on to say)...You ll find that I, in truth, a girl when you went away, though you soon return,
have become an aged woman (I: Penelope to Ulysses). The last line is the most important with her
saying that she wishes he hadn t sailed away on a voyage to Troy from Ithica. It is similar to Medea in
the way that she has a longing for her husband to come back. But at the same time it is different
because Ulysses loves Penelope very much, although Jason does not love Medea anymore. There are
the same basic negatives in each story because in Ithica the state power was also supreme. Although it
was later on in time, the times that Chaucer was living in were still similar to the structure of society
from Athens to Rome. The civilitas during his time basically meant that most things revolved around
the upper class as well as religion. An interesting quote from the introduction of Chaucer that we read
states, The upper class or nobility, represented cheifly by the Knight and his Squire, was in Chaucer s
time steeped in a culture of chivalry and courtliness (Introduction of Chaucer reading). In his time
there were many fights between the social classes of people. The three classes were the clergy, the
nobility, and the

The Devil s Arithmetic By Jane Yolen
It is difficult for anyone to truly understand devastating situations that occur in our history unless we
actually experience them ourselves. No matter how much we research, how many pictures we observe,
or even the personal stories from the individuals who endure those hard times. We can imagine the
pain and tragedy of it, however, can we truly understand it? In The Devil s Arithmetic by Jane Yolen,
is a character named Hannah Stern who undergoes a glimpse of such a tragedy and completely shifts
her outlook on her family s history in the Holocaust. Throughout the story, Hannah depicts an
unappreciative hora towards remembering the past of her family, subsequently she receives the
glimpse of the past and completely transforms her attitude. Hannah attended a Seder that her
grandparents performed for Passover. Before she arrived, Hannah made excuses that she did not know
it was Passover, or that she forgot about it, and how she already ate to be excused from it. Her mother
explained the importance of remembering to her, which Hannah replied with, All Jewish holidays are
about remembering, Mama. I m tired of remembering (Yolen 4). Already demonstrating her
indifference about remembering what took place so long ago, one receives the sense that Hannah is
simply another teenager that is ignorant towards such important events in life. Her ignorance is also
demonstrated when Hannah had been younger and took a fascination in the number on her grandpa s
arm, therefore she thought

In every moment of our lives, we handle a tremendous amount of large data, this large data will
become a store of values if we could be turned it into searchable information involving analysis steps.
The big challenge is that 90% of the large data are unstructured data which is growing faster than
structured data, unstructured data as a data warehouse come without any predefined data structure and
not appropriate with any relational database schema.
We used the expression A huge database when data is accumulated and increased rapidly, The a huge
is a relative matter, but in general, a huge database is a data set that exceeds the size or capacity of
conventional database tools to fetch, store, manage and analyze that data. Which means that the
challenge is manifold when we try to analyze and extract a meaningful value from a huge unstructured

Invictus Poem Analysis
A girl has people saying mean things about her. The bullies are trying to push her down and make her
miserable but she realizes that she is in control of her own life and no one can push her down. People
will try to knock others down, but everyone is in control of his or her life. This idea can be seen
throughout both poems using literary devices. Invictus by William Ernest Henley and Still I Rise by
Maya Angelou, both convey the message that everybody is in control of his or her life and do not let
anybody or anything change that.
Throughout Invictus William Ernest Henley proves the message that everybody chooses how their life
will be and nobody can change that. The use of similes shows how something was trying to make the
speaker s life dark, and as back as they possibly could. William Ernest Henley states Out of the night
that covers me, / black as the pit from pole to pole (1 2). The speaker shows that something, which is
probably depression, is trying to take him down and put him in a terrible place where it is hard to
escape. This simile helps convey the theme because after that it stated he says that his soul is
unconquerable and he will not let this bad thing take over his life. Henley creates an image of
somebody being in a very dark place and they cannot escape and it is supposed to make people feel
how the speaker felt in that situation. Another literary device that William Ernest Henley used is
diction to show that he is in charge of his life and will not let anybody or anything take his life away
from him. William Ernest Henley states, I thank whatever god may be / For my unconquerable soul (3
4). He uses diction to show that he is in charge of his future and what will happen in life and nobody
can say otherwise. Using the word unconquerable shows that nobody can take over his life and that he
is in charge.
Likewise in Still I Rise Maya Angelou shows that everybody is in control of his or her life and no one
can change that. Maya Angelou uses repetition to show the reader that anyone can try to knock them
down but they will always get back up and keep fighting. Maya Angelou writes, You may trod me in
the very dirt/ But still, like dust, I ll rise and also You may kill me with

My Internship Analysis
This summer I had the chance to take on a great challenge. I completed 120 hours for my internship
while at the same time working as fulltime employee. I truly mean it when I say it was a great
challenge. In only 2 months I completed 120 hours in an office that was only open 8 5 Monday
through Friday. I know it may seem reasonable to others and you might even ask why that would be
something so difficult for me to do but it was very tough. You see, I work my total of 40 hours a week
at my current job and to add more hours to my schedule seemed pretty exhausting. Unfortunately, I am
not as privileged as other to have an amazing schedule like 8 to 5 or weekends off. I work overnight.

I not only learned about the procedures for child support but I also learned things that will help in any
career that I decide to get into. I learned about proper communication skills. During my time at the
office I watched how communication was very important. Our communication skills can help in many
things and one major thing is to calm a person down, express compassion, give assurance. I witnessed
several clients going into the offices very bothered and frustrated with their cases or some would even
come in sad and disappointed but the office staff knew how to communicate properly with them and
assure them of any concerns they had. Another thing I learned is multi tasking. The office was all
about multi tasking and doing things fast. I realized that I need to work on my typing in order to type
faster. Since I am interested in office work I do need to type faster than I do now. Regarding multi
tasking, I had to document, file, and place in order all the paperwork for files that needed to be ready
for court. I had to have over 4 programs open on my desktop to look for photos and files that needed
to be printed and also programs where I had to notate what changes were done to the case or the latest
update on the file. I also learned to proper documentation and filing. I had to constantly document any
changes I made to each file. Each documentation was detailed and had to have a date the change was
made, what was the change, and who made the change. I also learned the importance of
confidentiality. During my time at the office they were very clear on how confidentiality is their
number one priority. Due to keeping everything confidential, it was a major rule at the office that
anyone who stood and left their office station must lock their computers. All documents that were
printed out by mistake or double and that were not going to be used had to

Sports Betting Scandal
Sports Betting Scandal Since their very beginning, sports have been immersed in society and often
times gambled on. This gambling increased with the rising popularity of college sports, and came to
the forefront through scandals involving illegal betting and point shaving. One such scandal occurred
just down the road from St. Francis de Sales High School at the University of Toledo. In between the
fall of 2003 and winter of 2006, two gamblers from Detroit bribed athletes from both the University of
Toledo basketball and football teams to shave points while they placed bets totaling $407,500 on the
games. The two gamblers involved were Ghazi Gary Manni and Mitchell Karam, Detroit businessmen
who had previously been involved in illegal schemes. The four UT basketball players that were bribed
and shaved points were Sammy Villegas, Anton Currie, Keith Triplett, and Kashif Payne. The three ...

probation, and helped the FBI during their investigation. Manni, the gambler behind it all, received a
70 month sentence. All seven of the athletes involved ended up taking guilty pleas. I think these
consequences were justified and fair for the crimes the players and gamblers committed, although
Manni s could have been more lengthy. This scandal helped bring awareness back to illegal betting in
college sports, which many thought had died down. Specifically, this scandal hurt the image of UT
and their athletic programs, but through their investigation they found no other immoral or illegal

Colonization Of America Research Paper
The Colonization of America Did you know, 80 100 million native people died during the colonization
of North and South America? Europe was so focused on colonizing the new land for their own benefit,
they never thought about their impact on native lives. Many factors led to the colonization of the
Americas, including religious, economic, and cultural from Spain, France, England, and the
Netherlands.
First off, Spanish explorers were the first to start colonizing the Americas. They were in search of gold
and silver, looking to make themselves rich. Spanish men found, plundered, and destroyed the great
Aztec Empire city of Tenochtitlán, killing countless people, enslaving many more, and stealing all
precious metals. Some men were content, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The natives traded fur in exchange for European goods, like metals, and weapons. Native tribes
preferred trading with the Dutch of the French because the Dutch gave them better quality goods,
better prices, and were more willing to trade weapons. The Dutch royalty, much like the Spanish, also
wanted to expand their empire. Dutch colonization should have been the most successful colonization
because they traded fairly with the natives, didn t steal natives land, and didn t wage wars against
native or other colonial people. This would have left a society where native people and newcomers
could live together in virtual peace and the land would still be plentiful in wildlife. But, the english
threatened to wipe out the Dutch, so they gave up their claims to the land, wanting to avoid going to
war with the larger, more wealthy country. Overall, the Dutch colonization was mainly because of fur
trading, and dutch colonies were very

Of Mice And Men By Robert Burns
The title of this book is actually comes from a poem To a Mouse , which is written in Scots dialect, by
the 18th century Scottish poet Robert Burns. It is about a mouse which carefully builds a winter nest
in a wheat field, but it was destroyed by a ploughman. The mouse had dreamed of a safe and warm
winter but now it have to face the harsh reality of cold, loneliness and possible death. This is relevant
to the novel Of Mice and Men in two ways. First, the characters in the story are seem to be at the
mercy of fate, almost as powerless as mice. For example, Lennie can be likened to the mouse in the
poem by his harmless, innocent, gentle, and childlike characteristics since he has just as weak as a
mouse. Second, it is actually related to one of the major themes in the novel which is the shattered
dreams. Lennie and George are migrant farm workers who dream of having their own home and land,
but this dream is wrecked, just like the mouse s nest in the poem. The poem also demonstrates that
future is unpredictable, which is related to the story that people cannot control their life and fate is
uncertain. Moreover, the Men in the title could refer to the common men who work on the ranch such
as Slim, Candy, George and Lennie. They are laborers who have simple desires, which is they want to
obtain their own land, so that they may work for themselves and obtain independence. The Mice in the
title are one of the examples of symbolism, it appear in the story for multiple

Religion Is Not A Single Term
A term or more even a specific aspect in life, which is believed to be existent during the start of the
world and hopefully will never be extinct is, Religion. How, why and where exactly religion formed,
is a question that is universal, meaning many different religions have a variety of stories for these
answers. The true definition of religion cannot be stated in one sentence. It is more of a question based
an individual s belief toward his/her religion. However, the basic ideology of religion is the belief in
sacred objects such as Gods and supernatural beings. These beliefs are not just simply a belief. It is a
belief that gives faithful worshippers answers to a certain extent of the true meaning of the sentient
beings existence. There are a variety of different religions that exist in today s world, hence the reason
why Religion is not a single term. However, the following paper will only focus on Buddhist religion.
Buddhism is said to have existed for more than 2,500 years, which surrounds a variety of beliefs,
traditions and practices. All of which gives sentiment beings the true meaning and purpose of life.
Particularly about death, rebirth and suffering (Strong 2008). Buddhism is based on the teachings of
Siddhartha Gautama, who is also known as the Buddha. Siddhartha Gautama is considered the Buddha
because he has attainted complete unsurpassed enlightenment under the Bodhi tree at the age of 35
through extreme meditation (Strong, 2008). The major schools, which

Cadillac Ad
My consumer analysis will focus on the Cadillac ad. The Consumer buyer behavior is complex and in
order to affect how customers think and act marketers must understand the what s, when s, how s, and
why s of buyer behavior. Though this is not an easy task and it must be tackled through a series of
steps. The first step is to understand the why s of buyer behavior. This is done through the analysis of
the influencing characteristics that will affect consumers decision process. There are fifteen
characteristics that influence the buyer s behavior, indeed they all play a role the most important ones
impacting the purchase of the Cadillac in the Ad are Culture, Personality and Self Concept, and Age
and Life Cycle.

Sovereignty is defined as unlimited power over a country or a country s independent authority and the

Horrors Of War In Wilfred Owen s Dulce Et Decorum Est
A person cannot truly comprehend a situation if they have never experienced it first hand. Writers,
however, can use their words to help paint a picture of said situations for those that wish to further
understand them. One example of such, is Wilfred Owen s Dulce et Decorum Est. Owen wrote this
poem to inform the public of the horrors of battle, specifically in World War I. He desperately tried to
warn civilians of the truths of combat and why it doesn t always feel honorable to die for your country.
When analyzed further, Owen is also warning his fellow citizens not to believe everything the
government tells them. In the first stanza, Owen describes a regiment marching through sludge,
something not unusual for soldiers at the time. In the second stanza, however, he introduces a new
threat, mustard gas. The speaker exclaims: Gas! GAS! Quick, boys! (Owen L9). As most of the
soldiers are putting on their gas masks, one fails to do so. The speaker is left watching the man
struggle: flound ring like a man in fire or lime...guttering, choking, drowning. (Owen L12 16). After
watching his fellow soldier succumb to the hellish effects of the gas, the speaker could not erase the
images from his memory. In the last stanza, he chastised the people at home who romanticize war and
challenged them to think about how admirable it is to watch a man die: the white eyes writhing in his
face, His hanging face, like a devil s sick of sin (Owen L19 20). Nationalism plays a huge role

The Hidden Identity of Arnold Friend Essay
The Hidden Identity of Arnold Friend The world is full of people who portray themselves as someone
or something else. People usually hide their identity to obtain things that they want. It is common to
be fooled by someone s appearance. In Joyce Carol Oates s, Where Are You Going, Where Have You
Been, Arnold
Friend is an example of someone trying to trick another person into believing that he is something that
he is not. In the story, a girl named Connie is confronted by a man who is trying to persuade her to

the reader to believe that he is covering demonic physical traits with a fake human disposition.
Secondly, Arnold Friend knows an excessive amount of information about Connie, her friends and
family. There is no human that can stare off into the distance and know what someone else is doing at

Connie. He says, I know who you were with last night, and your best girlfriend s name is Betty right

Power Of The President And Congress
Power of the President and Congress In the United States, a knowledgeable and reliable president
should bring a country into economic development and give citizens truth. It is easy to see how a
president affects foreign policy. The President has the highest power to decide how to manage,
control, and to solve problems. The president and Congress play important roles in running the
country regarding foreign policy making. Foreign policy is very significant because it provides peace
between countries without going to war. In order to develop the nation s economy and increase job
opportunities, effective foreign policies help to acquire more investments from foreign investors, and

The president can make decisions regarding, Executive agreement or trade agreement as long as they
are beneath treaty level with senate confirmation (Welch et al. 335). Even though the president has his
own power on hand, Congress still needs to check to see whether the president faithfully performs his
bills (Welch et al. 335). As a result, the president s treaties take effect only if they are passed by two
thirds of the Senate... (Welch et al. 335). Furthermore, veto power is another way to effect the
lawmaking of the president, but the only exception is that two thirds of each house can cancel the
president veto (Welch et al. 309). However, the president is advised that they should not abuse veto
power because president who use the veto too often may appear isolated or uncooperative or may
seem to be exercising negative leadership (Welch et al. 352). Therefore, the oversight of Congress is
so important to check and control whether the President practices making foreign policy appropriately.
Second, Congress should continue to assert its own role to oversee the president s work in controlling
budget making. Budgeting is one of the most important factors effecting national activities. For
example, the government cannot work without a budget; therefore, the Constitution gave Congress the
power to appropriate money and to account for its expenditure (Welch et al. 311). Congress also
oversees the federal budget by using the budget effectively. For example, it

The Definition Of Uk Copyright Law
The enduring fascination for people is that they want law to be flexible in the matter of copyright. This
was clearly expressed by Ed Mayo, Chief Executive of Consumer Focus quoting UK copyright law is
the oldest, but also the most out of date. Before addressing the question it s important to look at the
history and definition of UK Copyright law. It has grown from this beginning to form the main legal
basis for the international publishing industry, which contributes so much to literature, learning and
culture not only in the UK but it has crossed different nation s borders.

The Effects Of Sports Related Concussions On Central...
ABSTRACT
Sport related concussion is a common injury amongst athletes. This study was conducted in order to
investigate whether or not sport related concussions had an effect on central auditory processing
abilities. The study implemented a case control study design. Two hundred athletes were selected to
participate in this study. One hundred participants served as the case group and had sustained two or
more sport related concussions in a three year period. The other one hundred participants served as the
control group. Concussions were identified by a team physician using the SCAT3. All participants
completed an auditory processing disorder test battery consisting of the PPT, RGDT, Dichotic Digits
Test, CST, Nu 6 Low Frequency Filter Test and a MLD test. An independent samples t test was used to
determine the results.
INTRODUCTION
In 2006, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimated that approximately 1.6 million to
3.8 million sport related concussions occur each year in the United States (Langois, Rutland Brown,
Wald, 2006). Sport related concussions are a subset of traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and are defined
as a complex pathophysiological process affecting the brain (McCrory et al., 2012). The typical signs
and symptoms associated with a concussion include confusion, amnesia, headache, dizziness, nausea,
loss of balance, and/or poor concentration (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2010).

The First Three Noble Truths
Throughout this paper, I will be discussing the first three Noble Truths. I will first explain each of the
three Noble Truths. Then I will explain how each of the three Noble Truths would be extremely
beneficial to my life. The first of the three Noble Truths concerns the diagnosis of humanity. That is to
say, all humans have a fundamental problem and that problem is suffering. This fundamental problem
is not something that one can hide from or ignore. It is something that calls for reflection coming to
terms with the brute fact that human existence is attached to suffering. Suffering is ubiquitous. That is
to say, suffering pervades all of human life. Therefore, all persons must accept suffering as a mere fact
of existence. Suffering consists of, physical, mental and emotional suffering. For example, physical
suffering would consist of having a disease, or getting into an injury such as a car accident. Mental
suffering would consist of one who experiences depression, sadness and the like from the death of a
loved one. Moreover, when one experiences frustration and anger from not getting what they want
such as a baby who is hungry and cries or a child at a store and their parents won t buy them a toy.
Emotional suffering is They have to take medicine to help their own body sustain itself. Buddha states,
This, monks is the Noble Truth of Suffering; birth is suffering; decay is suffering; illness is suffering;
death is suffering; presence of objects we hate is suffering;

Monologue Of Woman
I think this text is about a woman, that is a dreamer and thinks less of herself. I can say this because in
the monologue, the curious woman set out various examples such as on lines 1 and 2 it says The
woman I am in my dreams is taller than i am. I think this precise sentence means that she wants to
stand tall/up for herself and support her own opinions, which leads to my first point. A another
obvious example is, on lines 24 28 she reveals The woman I am in my dreams her legs are straight and
sure, they don t fall out from under her, they don t hide under long skirts her legs and feet are well.
This is an another example of how she thinks less of herself because, the text proves that she clearly
doesn t like how her legs are straight

Critically Appraise A Popular Leadership Theory
Leadership is a concept that is constantly discussed yet there is seldom agreement about what it is.
Even though most agree leadership is crucial to success of any people, project or venture. People
define leadership differently and often times misconstrue leadership with management. Leadership
provides the vision and focuses on the people while management focuses on objectives and tasks. It is
however valid that a budding leader may sometimes need to act as both a leader an as a manager
whenever necessary.
Over the years, in an attempt to define leadership and reach a consensus on what it is, various
leadership theories have ensued. Some leadership theories include; great man, transactional,

If the competent and qualified physician is leader of a public health or healthcare institution and he is
deemed a great leader based on his charisma and ambition, when there is a challenge such as an
outbreak and he is able to proffer solution. He will be respected and trusted more. However, a demerit
to this approach is that it is too simplistic and may prevent contribution from other qualified members
of the system. Hence serving to demotivate them at their work because they may feel irrelevant. Also,
the problem of succession quickly comes to mind, so in the event of loss or absence of the great leader
, there will be a problem with replacing him and the institution may suffer. This leads to another
demerit of the theory. Based on the fact that a leader had to be born that way, there is no way to teach
leadership to another person or improve one s own level of leadership. More recent theories and
occurrence has invalidated this claim.
Much of the great man theory praises characteristics that are majorly associated with natural male
characteristics and used male examples in its explanation. In orders words, women cannot be leaders.
But this has been negated, as there were females who successfully led men to wars in history. An
example is Ashanti (a woman) who led her people to a successful war). In recent years, we now have

Evans also looks to distinguish the difference between a defense and a theodicy. Evans purpose
introducing these theodicies is to merely show that each has its own place within the discussion of the
problem of evil, but none of them sufficiently answers the problem of evil. The second chapter found
in The Problem of Evil, begins to address the logical problem of evil. Within this chapter Evans breaks
down Alvin Plantinga and the free will defense. Here Evans compares the logical arguments of J.L.
Mackie and Alvin Plantinga. Mackie uses a deductive argument to state that if God is all knowing, all
powerful, and all good, then evil cannot exist. This would be a contradiction to logic. Plantinga
provides a valid argument involving free will to make the case for the existence for evil. Evans uses
the remainder of the chapter to compare and contrast the two views. Chapter three evaluates the
evidential problem of evil. In this chapter Evans uses William Rowe s version of the evidential
problem. Using Rowe s argument as a base, Evans then notes the various ways that prominent
philosophers such as Kvanvig, Alston, and Wykstra have questioned Rowe s argument. The author
also states that anytime the problem of evil is considered, expanded theism should be the subject. In
chapter four the author looks at the defeat of good and evil. Evans processes the mechanics of defeat,
conversion and the defeat of evil, and the disposition to act.

much more memorable. I remember sitting in my Language in Society Class thinking Why are we
taking a group quiz? He might as well just hand out the A s. But it was much deeper than that. I had to
learn how to balance speaking and listening for group participation, in addition to time management. It
wasn t like a group project, because we were just working together for one timed class period instead
of having days of preparation. These were skills that I came to realize were much more important
outside of school. I ve noticed a lot at work, when we have to make a timed decision especially, that
people would dominate conversations and leave people s opinions out. Now, I actually want to hear

had several different teachers that would challenge the structure of a normal classroom.

years have been assessed for relevance for the study. Data Analysis To evaluate the studies, articles
were entered into a literature review matrix, identifying the specific aims of the study, demographic,
methods, major findings, limitations and article focus. Data were analysed using content analysis to
produce a descriptive summary of the content. Results were independently reviewed within each
article and data were analysed to identify the causes of behavioural changes. Results A total of nine
articles from the nine original studies using qualitative and quantitative research methods met the
criteria for inclusion in the study (9 articles with different research objectives with similar
participants). Four out of nine stated that the most common cause of changes in behaviour is job
satisfaction, followed by language and different values and beliefs. Four articles have been critically

Chinese Culture And Pain Perception
Chinese Culture and Pain Perception
Kyla Chambers
Vancouver Career College
Chinese Culture and Pain Perception The purpose of this paper is to explore the effects of the Chinese
culture on pain perception, responses and management. Cultural backgrounds can have a significant
role in how a person perceives and copes with their pain, many studies have identified the vast
difference between cultures. Culture shapes many aspects of the experience of pain, including pain
expression, lay remedies, social roles, expectations, perceptions of the medical system,
when/how/where to seek care, healthcare practices, illness beliefs and behaviors, and receptivity to
medical care interventions (Campbell, 2012)
Describe different natures of pain (physical, emotional)
Pain is much more than a physical sensation caused by a specific stimulus. An individual s perception
of pain has important affective (emotional), cognitive, behavioral, and sensory components that are
shaped by past experience, culture, and situational factors. The nature of the stimulus for pain can be
physical, psychological, or a combination of both. (Potter, Perry, Stockert, Hall, Peterson, 2014 p.
141) As stated by Potter et al, the different natures of pain are dealt with differently depending on
many factors. Knowing this, treating pain can be very difficult as there is no single or clear cut way of
measuring it; Even though the assessment and treatment of pain is a universally important health care

The Importance Of Pungent Plants
I have always been a chili pepper aficionado who enjoyed the pungency, meaning spiciness, of
peppers. So I decided to learn about how to grow chili peppers in my garden. While researching chili
pepper growth, I saw that pungent plants had 40% greater density of stomata than non pungent plants.
Stomata are pores that allow water and air to enter and exit the plant s cells. So pungent plants
experience greater water loss than non pungent plants do. Pungent plants have more stomata than non
pungent plants because the proteins involved in pungency and building stomata are regulated by the
same pathway. (CSMonitor) I became curious on how the amount of water a pungent chili pepper has
affects it.
Water, a fundamental component of life, allows all living beings to exist. Plants are no exception.
Plants utilize water, carbon dioxide (CO2), and sunlight to undergo the process of photosynthesis.
Photosynthesis is the method plants use to create food. During photosynthesis, plants use six
molecules of water, six molecules of CO2, and sunlight to produce one molecule of sugar and six
molecules of oxygen. This reaction, modeled by the equation 6CO2 + 6H2O + sunlight → C6H12O6
+ 6O2, demonstrates the essentialness of water in the survival of plants. Water is a crucial component
of photosynthesis because it permits plants to produce food that they need to sustain themselves. Food
gives plants the energy to perform many functions, such as reproduction and the production of
chemicals.

A Fetal Organ That Is Vital For The Growth Of The Fetus...
Project Background (500 words) The placenta is a fetal organ that is vital for the growth of the fetus
during pregnancy. Abnormalities in placental development can result in pregnancy complications such
as intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) and pre eclampsia (PE), which affect one in ten pregnancies
in New Zealand. IUGR occurs in 3 5% of all pregnancies, and is associated with an assortment of
increased risks of its own, such as hypoglycaemia, hypothermia, developmental delays and increased
risk of infection. Despite its prevalence, we currently have no effective treatment for IUGR other than
close monitoring and premature delivery of the baby. Worldwide, 10% of neonatal mortality can be
put down to prematurity, but the risks do not stop there respiratory problems, feeding difficulties, and
neurological problems also increase in incidence as gestational age at delivery decreases. Furthermore,
IUGR babies are at an increased risk of cardiovascular problems, obesity and type II diabetes in
adulthood, diseases which the health system is currently plagued with. Together, these issues place a
considerable burden on healthcare providers in both the short and long term to the cost of up to $300

significance of this problem, our knowledge of the pathophysiology leading to IUGR is limited, and so

Deception In Twelfth Night Essay
Shakespeare s play Twelfth Night is based off the traditional Christian holiday a day on which the
normality of the world is turned upside down. On this particular day, the normal order of things is
disrupted and the social standings of lower and upper social class members are reversed. The title is
delightfully fitting for the play, as the storyline is comprised of comical disruption within the social
decorum of Illyria. In this essay, I will examine how the carnival atmosphere of the Twelfth Night
holiday is reflected in the way the play is constructed. Shakespeare introduces a topsy turvy world
where metaphoric boundaries are crossed with the created ambiguity of gender and the act of

General confusion arises due to the deceptive actions of several characters in the play. A notable act of
deception in the play is seen when Maria and Sir Toby play a trick on the head servant, Malvolio.
They are successful in misleading him to act strangely, which convinces everyone that he has gone
mad. In the hopes of wooing his master Olivia, Malvolio starts behaving strangely. He begins to wear
yellow stockings and smiles excessively; behaviours that are all uncharacteristic of his usual prude
and stern self. The prank is extremely convincing, to the point that Maria describes his outlandish
behaviour as a very renegade, for there is no Christian that means to be saved by believing rightly can
ever believe such impossible passages of grossness, (3.2.66 69). Despite being the one who tricked
Malvolio, Maria cannot believe what she is seeing and compares his behaviour as someone who has
lost his Christian faith. Otherwise, she cannot simply believe that anyone in their right mind would
believe the statements made in the fake love letters. Here, we see how a simple act of deception has
disrupted normalcy as this character is supposedly going mad . In another scene, deception breeds
chaos once again when Sir Toby encourages Sir Andrew to battle Cesario to win Olivia s heart.
Despite the fact that neither party wanted to fight and was in fact terrified at the very idea, Sir Toby
continues to cause conflict by stirring up an altercation that was nonexistent to begin with. To
compound such deceptive actions, Viola s pretense as a pageboy creates further confusion when her
brother Sebastian appears at the end of the play. The mistaken identity becomes troublesome when
Antonio is arrested in front of Cesario and when Sebastian married Olivia. In both cases, because of
past lies, other characters are misled to think that an act of betrayal

Goodnight Moon By Margaret Wise Brown
The author of my book is Margaret Wise Brown. She wrote the book Goodnight Moon. This book was
published September 3, 1947 about two years after World War Two ended. After World War Two
many wives were widowed and many children were fatherless. The book Goodnight Moon was
labeled as Contemporary Realistic Fiction, meaning it was believable and set in the modern world.
Margaret Wise Brown constantly experimented with writing children s literature. She tried new things
that many other authors did not try. For example, she tried making her books more relatable and more
like a child was living in a fantasy. What kept her motivated was trying to keep her target audience of
children hoping and to never give up on that hope, in her own words she says to write a book simple
enough ... to lift the child for a few moments from his own problems of shoelaces that won t tie and
busy parents ... into the timeless world of story. which is believed to be her motivator. While looking
for the deeper meaning or message I realized this books message was death and the loss or absence of
a parent.
The book Goodnight Moon takes both children and adults away from the real world. This helps the
readers understand her style of writing and children s literature. Goodnight Moon had a huge social
impact because of how it connected with its readers. It took kids and adults away from their problems
and took them to a world where everything seemed as if it was perfect. The idea of a perfect world

VARK Learning Style Analysis
The different possible ways I learn according to VARK.
VARK is a system created to help students understand their style of learning. The system was created
by Neil Fleming. The VARK system stands for Visual Learner, Auditory Learners, Reading/ Writing
Learners, and Kinesthetic Learners. (Reserved, Training, Policy, Policy, n.d.)

Using VARK questionnaire I found that my learning style was read /. Write. The runner up style was
Visual
The learning style read/write means I learn best when I am reading text from a web page, book, or
illustration, while also writing down notes in the form of essays reports or an assignments. I do find
learning easier when I have the material in front of me in the form of a textbook, webpage, graphs and
demonstrations. While studying I will also use headings on table of context to look up subjects when
researching. Now that the internet is available for studying the answers are at my fingertips. The
subject can be found by a few words in the google search bar. While at work I find researching a
subject is imperative. I must use different sites, text and also books to properly administer computer

Research Paper On Kobe Bryant
Although it is true that Kobe Bryant was charged with sexual assault, companies are willing to
endorse him because he was proven not guilty by law. Does this make Kobe Bryant a risky partner to
be an endorser for a company? I would say so, but than again, anyone would be a risk. I think the
reason why people are still willing to endorse Kobe Bryant is because they are willing to take that risk.
The reason why many companies are willing to take that risk is because Kobe s fame and success only
continues to grow. I don t mean to say that he has found success because of his past sexual assault
charge, but his success in the NBA has only continue to improve even after the ordeal. Kobe Bryant is
considered to be one of the best to ever play

Southern Gothic Literature And Deranged Characters Essay
Southern Gothic Literature and Deranged Characters
Southern Gothic Literature is a genre that focuses on grotesque themes that involve troubled and
deranged main characters, while sometimes including elements found from the supernatural
(study.com P1). The following short stories had authors that played a tremendous role in the southern
gothic literature genre, and inspired many authors to follow their style. From necrophilia to serial
killers, southern gothic literature is a genre that is to be studied with an open mind, and also having
good grasp on studying context clues comes in handy.
The author who had one of the biggest impacts on the southern gothic community was William
Faulkner. A Rose for Emily suggests dark themes with hidden meanings beneath the text with blatant
clues that lead up to the death of her lover, and the sick things she does to him. Emily started out as a
beautiful young girl who had hopes of marrying the best man, but by the end of the story she was a
large, widowed woman with no hopes of finding a new love. Southern gothic literature focuses deep
on troubled characters. The main character, Emily Grierson, suffered from an unimaginable mental
illness. All the way deep down her family line creeped dark and eerie, disgusting and unpleasant, or
disrespectful and weird fantasies. Emily suffered from depression which caused her obsession with
necrophilia.
Emily s father abused Emily psychologically, and pushed her to the point of killing him. Emily s

Benefits Of Payment Reimbursement Systems Within The...
Effective payment program strategies are a major part of administering health care. Reimbursement
programs are a part of the United States (U.S) health care system. They represent a financial tool for
providing cash flow to service physicians and hospitals. Most often, the ability to provide quality
health care depends on the payment for the services given by physicians and hospitals. This paper
presents a view of payment reimbursement systems within the health care industry. A comparative
overview and description of payment reimbursement will be given in order to understand the flow of
finances in the health care industry. The focus will be on the levy and fee for service reimbursement
systems. Readers will then be able to conclude that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Contrary to the situation in which the patient makes payment arrangement with the caregiver, and then
file claim directly to the insurance company to recoup all or at least part of the medical charge.
The costs of health care are higher in the United States than in other countries and put a strain on the
overall economy. In the United States, health care is technologically advanced but expensive. Health
care costs were about $2.6 trillion dollars in 2010. For decades, the amount of money spent on health
care has increased more than the overall economy has grown. Health care is paid for by government
programs, private health insurance plans, and the person s own funds.
Private insurance
Private insurance can be purchased from for profit and not for profit insurance companies. Although
there are many health insurance companies in the United States, a given state tends to have a limited
number . Herzberg, D. Most private insurance is purchased by corporations as a benefit for employees.
The amount of money employers spend on an employee s health insurance is not considered taxable
income for the employee. Because the government enables employees to spend less on health care,
they may use health care services more.

The largest government insurance programs include

King Kong Entertainment Of The Masses Analysis
King Kong: The Entertainment of the Masses It s money and adventure and fame. It s the thrill of a
lifetime and a long sea voyage that starts at six o clock tomorrow morning (King Kong, Carl
Denham). As Carl Denham (Robert Armstrong) drags King Kong to Broadway, he makes ten thousand
dollars in just one night for the exhibition of the Eighth Wonder of the World. Thousands of New
Yorkers paid twenty dollars per ticket, or the equivalent to three hundred sixty nine dollars in today s
currency, to gaze at a prehistoric ape. This gaze found in King Kong is the imperial gaze developed
against foreigners in early Hollywood travel films. Ann Kaplan comments on early travel films in
Hollywood, Science and Cinema: The Imperial and the Male Gaze in Classic Film and states that:
They [travelers] mainly went to dominate, exploit and to use the Other for their own ends. (61). For
this reason, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Right after the audience gazes and criticises Kong for the first time, Denham asks the press to take the
first photographs of Kong and his captors. As the sixteen photographers begin to take pictures, Kong
roars in fury. Since Denham is only interested in the profit that can be generated from the press, he
quickly calms the audience and tells the photographer to capture a photo of Ann (Fay Wray) and
Driscoll (Bruce Cabot). A closeup of the flashing cameras is shown and then Kong gets out of control.
It is worthy to mention that Kong had not roared as loud as in this scene (not on stage at least) to
notice that the flash was what triggered Kong to act in a savage manner. It is then clear that the use of
technology enraged Kong because he felt estranged and threaten. The camera symbolizes how the
white traveler dehumanizes the foreign individual and reproduces this visualization to the rest of the

The IQ Debate Essay
Intelligence can be defined in many different ways. This concept has been the focus of numerous
studies and investigations by psychologists and other scientific experts. Intelligence can be the mental
ability to reason, plan ahead, understand a wide range of complex issues and learn from past
experiences (Gottfredson, 1997). Intelligence is the resultant of the process of acquiring, storing in
memory, retrieving, combining, comparing, and using in new contexts information and conceptual
skills (Humphreys, 1979)
Intelligence is commonly measured through the use of a number of scales and quantitative measures,
like the Intelligence Quotient (IQ), developed by Alfred Binet in early 20th century to identify which

Far right commentators generally support this argument, which has been supported by the findings of
a number of researches, including those led by Professor Robert Plomin
(http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/850358.stm). They have also utilised these arguments to explain a
wide range of social phenomena, including crime. Other experts have strongly disagreed with this
view, arguing that intelligence levels are directly related to situational factors. Environmental factors
like the quality of the education system can have a very significant influence in the development of
intelligence. Situational factors have been used by psychologists to explain a wide range of
phenomena. A great number of sociologists, psychologists and criminologist have studied the
circumstances and background that makes crime possible, in order to identify the main reasons and
causes of crime by looking at the learning process that generates crime. The use of IQ to explain
deviancy and crime has greatly influenced the debates of psychologists in this respect.
In this respect, studies like those carried out by Sutherland have looked at the role played by
psychological issues and disorders. The Differential Association Theory was a theory on crime and
deviancy developed by Edwin Sutherland during the thirties. Unlike other experts like Eleanor and
Sheldon Glueck, who stated that deviancy is generated by numerous factors, Sutherland

  • 2. Negative Attributes of Old Society Essay Negative Attributes of Old Societies Starting out, you have to compare the negatives of the Polis from Medea to the negatives of the romanitas from Ovid. There were many negatives that we saw and read about in the book of Medea. The main negative was the state power. Of the state power there was the Bureaucrats, Politicians and the Lawyers. These three groups of people had the entire control over what would happen in their society. Even though Medea was a very loyal woman to her husband Jason, she resented the state power and in turn Jason gave her up. Jason was very loyal to the state power of the elites. Both of them were very loyal, but loyal for two different causes. Here is a quote from Jason explaining why he came to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The last line is the most important with her saying that she wishes he hadn t sailed away on a voyage to Troy from Ithica. It is similar to Medea in the way that she has a longing for her husband to come back. But at the same time it is different because Ulysses loves Penelope very much, although Jason does not love Medea anymore. There are the same basic negatives in each story because in Ithica the state power was also supreme. Although it was later on in time, the times that Chaucer was living in were still similar to the structure of society from Athens to Rome. The civilitas during his time basically meant that most things revolved around the upper class as well as religion. An interesting quote from the introduction of Chaucer that we read states, The upper class or nobility, represented cheifly by the Knight and his Squire, was in Chaucer s time steeped in a culture of chivalry and courtliness (Introduction of Chaucer reading). • 3. The Devil s Arithmetic By Jane Yolen It is difficult for anyone to truly understand devastating situations that occur in our history unless we actually experience them ourselves. No matter how much we research, how many pictures we observe, or even the personal stories from the individuals who endure those hard times. We can imagine the pain and tragedy of it, however, can we truly understand it? In The Devil s Arithmetic by Jane Yolen, is a character named Hannah Stern who undergoes a glimpse of such a tragedy and completely shifts her outlook on her family s history in the Holocaust. Throughout the story, Hannah depicts an unappreciative hora towards remembering the past of her family, subsequently she receives the glimpse of the past and completely transforms her attitude. Hannah attended a Seder that her grandparents performed for Passover. Before she arrived, Hannah made excuses that she did not know it was Passover, or that she forgot about it, and how she already ate to be excused from it. Her mother explained the importance of remembering to her, which Hannah replied with, All Jewish holidays are about remembering, Mama. I m tired of remembering (Yolen 4). Already demonstrating her indifference about remembering what took place so long ago, one receives the sense that Hannah is simply another teenager that is ignorant towards such important events in life. Her ignorance is also demonstrated when Hannah had been younger and took a fascination in the number on her grandpa s arm, therefore she thought ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Invictus Poem Analysis A girl has people saying mean things about her. The bullies are trying to push her down and make her miserable but she realizes that she is in control of her own life and no one can push her down. People will try to knock others down, but everyone is in control of his or her life. This idea can be seen throughout both poems using literary devices. Invictus by William Ernest Henley and Still I Rise by Maya Angelou, both convey the message that everybody is in control of his or her life and do not let anybody or anything change that. Throughout Invictus William Ernest Henley proves the message that everybody chooses how their life will be and nobody can change that. The use of similes shows how something was trying to make the speaker s life dark, and as back as they possibly could. William Ernest Henley states Out of the night that covers me, / black as the pit from pole to pole (1 2). The speaker shows that something, which is probably depression, is trying to take him down and put him in a terrible place where it is hard to escape. This simile helps convey the theme because after that it stated he says that his soul is unconquerable and he will not let this bad thing take over his life. Henley creates an image of somebody being in a very dark place and they cannot escape and it is supposed to make people feel how the speaker felt in that situation. Another literary device that William Ernest Henley used is diction to show that he is in charge of his life and will not let anybody or anything take his life away from him. William Ernest Henley states, I thank whatever god may be / For my unconquerable soul (3 4). He uses diction to show that he is in charge of his future and what will happen in life and nobody can say otherwise. Using the word unconquerable shows that nobody can take over his life and that he is in charge. Likewise in Still I Rise Maya Angelou shows that everybody is in control of his or her life and no one can change that. Maya Angelou uses repetition to show the reader that anyone can try to knock them down but they will always get back up and keep fighting. Maya Angelou writes, You may trod me in the very dirt/ But still, like dust, I ll rise and also You may kill me with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I witnessed several clients going into the offices very bothered and frustrated with their cases or some would even come in sad and disappointed but the office staff knew how to communicate properly with them and assure them of any concerns they had. Another thing I learned is multi tasking. The office was all about multi tasking and doing things fast. I realized that I need to work on my typing in order to type faster. Since I am interested in office work I do need to type faster than I do now. Regarding multi tasking, I had to document, file, and place in order all the paperwork for files that needed to be ready for court. I had to have over 4 programs open on my desktop to look for photos and files that needed to be printed and also programs where I had to notate what changes were done to the case or the latest update on the file. I also learned to proper documentation and filing. I had to constantly document any changes I made to each file. Each documentation was detailed and had to have a date the change was made, what was the change, and who made the change. I also learned the importance of confidentiality. During my time at the office they were very clear on how confidentiality is their number one priority. This gambling increased with the rising popularity of college sports, and came to the forefront through scandals involving illegal betting and point shaving. One such scandal occurred just down the road from St. Francis de Sales High School at the University of Toledo. In between the fall of 2003 and winter of 2006, two gamblers from Detroit bribed athletes from both the University of Toledo basketball and football teams to shave points while they placed bets totaling $407,500 on the games. Europe was so focused on colonizing the new land for their own benefit, they never thought about their impact on native lives. First off, Spanish explorers were the first to start colonizing the Americas. They were in search of gold and silver, looking to make themselves rich. Dutch colonization should have been the most successful colonization because they traded fairly with the natives, didn t steal natives land, and didn t wage wars against native or other colonial people. • 10. Of Mice And Men By Robert Burns The title of this book is actually comes from a poem To a Mouse , which is written in Scots dialect, by the 18th century Scottish poet Robert Burns. It is about a mouse which carefully builds a winter nest in a wheat field, but it was destroyed by a ploughman. The mouse had dreamed of a safe and warm winter but now it have to face the harsh reality of cold, loneliness and possible death. This is relevant to the novel Of Mice and Men in two ways. First, the characters in the story are seem to be at the mercy of fate, almost as powerless as mice. For example, Lennie can be likened to the mouse in the poem by his harmless, innocent, gentle, and childlike characteristics since he has just as weak as a mouse. Second, it is actually related to one of the major themes in the novel which is the shattered dreams. Lennie and George are migrant farm workers who dream of having their own home and land, but this dream is wrecked, just like the mouse s nest in the poem. The poem also demonstrates that future is unpredictable, which is related to the story that people cannot control their life and fate is uncertain. Moreover, the Men in the title could refer to the common men who work on the ranch such as Slim, Candy, George and Lennie. They are laborers who have simple desires, which is they want to obtain their own land, so that they may work for themselves and obtain independence. Writers, however, can use their words to help paint a picture of said situations for those that wish to further understand them. One example of such, is Wilfred Owen s Dulce et Decorum Est. Owen wrote this poem to inform the public of the horrors of battle, specifically in World War I. He desperately tried to warn civilians of the truths of combat and why it doesn t always feel honorable to die for your country. When analyzed further, Owen is also warning his fellow citizens not to believe everything the government tells them. In the first stanza, Owen describes a regiment marching through sludge, something not unusual for soldiers at the time. In the second stanza, however, he introduces a new threat, mustard gas. The speaker exclaims: Gas! GAS! Quick, boys! (Owen L9). As most of the soldiers are putting on their gas masks, one fails to do so. The speaker is left watching the man struggle: flound ring like a man in fire or lime...guttering, choking, drowning. (Owen L12 16). After watching his fellow soldier succumb to the hellish effects of the gas, the speaker could not erase the images from his memory. In the last stanza, he chastised the people at home who romanticize war and challenged them to think about how admirable it is to watch a man die: the white eyes writhing in his face, His hanging face, like a devil s sick of sin (Owen L19 20). Here Evans compares the logical arguments of J.L. Mackie and Alvin Plantinga. Mackie uses a deductive argument to state that if God is all knowing, all powerful, and all good, then evil cannot exist. This would be a contradiction to logic. Plantinga provides a valid argument involving free will to make the case for the existence for evil. Evans uses the remainder of the chapter to compare and contrast the two views. Chapter three evaluates the evidential problem of evil. In this chapter Evans uses William Rowe s version of the evidential problem. Using Rowe s argument as a base, Evans then notes the various ways that prominent philosophers such as Kvanvig, Alston, and Wykstra have questioned Rowe s argument. The author also states that anytime the problem of evil is considered, expanded theism should be the subject. In chapter four the author looks at the defeat of good and evil. Evans processes the mechanics of defeat, conversion and the defeat of evil, and the disposition to act. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. The School That I Would Give Temple University Essay I have attended only three different schools before NECC. The school that I thought was by far the most dynamic and helped me retain information better was Temple University. I would give Temple University an A, because I was exposed to several different teaching styles, which made the classes much more memorable. I remember sitting in my Language in Society Class thinking Why are we taking a group quiz? He might as well just hand out the A s. But it was much deeper than that. I had to learn how to balance speaking and listening for group participation, in addition to time management. It wasn t like a group project, because we were just working together for one timed class period instead of having days of preparation. These were skills that I came to realize were much more important outside of school. I ve noticed a lot at work, when we have to make a timed decision especially, that people would dominate conversations and leave people s opinions out. Now, I actually want to hear from people who are quieter as opposed to just thinking that they agree with whatever is being said. I had several different teachers that would challenge the structure of a normal classroom. Being a Linguistics/Speech Pathology major at Temple University meant a lot of my classes were voice and sound related. I can t begin to describe the weird sounds and phrases we had to produce with our mouths. Learning this way really helped because learning where my alveolar ridge is and how a specific ... Chinese Culture And Pain Perception Chinese Culture and Pain Perception Kyla Chambers Vancouver Career College Chinese Culture and Pain Perception The purpose of this paper is to explore the effects of the Chinese culture on pain perception, responses and management. Cultural backgrounds can have a significant role in how a person perceives and copes with their pain, many studies have identified the vast difference between cultures. Culture shapes many aspects of the experience of pain, including pain expression, lay remedies, social roles, expectations, perceptions of the medical system, when/how/where to seek care, healthcare practices, illness beliefs and behaviors, and receptivity to medical care interventions (Campbell, 2012) Describe different natures of pain (physical, emotional) Pain is much more than a physical sensation caused by a specific stimulus. An individual s perception of pain has important affective (emotional), cognitive, behavioral, and sensory components that are shaped by past experience, culture, and situational factors. The nature of the stimulus for pain can be physical, psychological, or a combination of both. (Potter, Perry, Stockert, Hall, Peterson, 2014 p. 141) As stated by Potter et al, the different natures of pain are dealt with differently depending on many factors. • 31. The Importance Of Pungent Plants I have always been a chili pepper aficionado who enjoyed the pungency, meaning spiciness, of peppers. So I decided to learn about how to grow chili peppers in my garden. While researching chili pepper growth, I saw that pungent plants had 40% greater density of stomata than non pungent plants. Stomata are pores that allow water and air to enter and exit the plant s cells. So pungent plants experience greater water loss than non pungent plants do. Pungent plants have more stomata than non pungent plants because the proteins involved in pungency and building stomata are regulated by the same pathway. (CSMonitor) I became curious on how the amount of water a pungent chili pepper has affects it. Water, a fundamental component of life, allows all living beings to exist. Plants are no exception. Plants utilize water, carbon dioxide (CO2), and sunlight to undergo the process of photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the method plants use to create food. During photosynthesis, plants use six molecules of water, six molecules of CO2, and sunlight to produce one molecule of sugar and six molecules of oxygen. This reaction, modeled by the equation 6CO2 + 6H2O + sunlight → C6H12O6 + 6O2, demonstrates the essentialness of water in the survival of plants. Water is a crucial component of photosynthesis because it permits plants to produce food that they need to sustain themselves. Food gives plants the energy to perform many functions, such as reproduction and the production of chemicals. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Abnormalities in placental development can result in pregnancy complications such as intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) and pre eclampsia (PE), which affect one in ten pregnancies in New Zealand. IUGR occurs in 3 5% of all pregnancies, and is associated with an assortment of increased risks of its own, such as hypoglycaemia, hypothermia, developmental delays and increased risk of infection. Despite its prevalence, we currently have no effective treatment for IUGR other than close monitoring and premature delivery of the baby. Worldwide, 10% of neonatal mortality can be put down to prematurity, but the risks do not stop there respiratory problems, feeding difficulties, and neurological problems also increase in incidence as gestational age at delivery decreases. On this particular day, the normal order of things is disrupted and the social standings of lower and upper social class members are reversed. The title is delightfully fitting for the play, as the storyline is comprised of comical disruption within the social decorum of Illyria. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... General confusion arises due to the deceptive actions of several characters in the play. A notable act of deception in the play is seen when Maria and Sir Toby play a trick on the head servant, Malvolio. They are successful in misleading him to act strangely, which convinces everyone that he has gone mad. In the hopes of wooing his master Olivia, Malvolio starts behaving strangely. He begins to wear yellow stockings and smiles excessively; behaviours that are all uncharacteristic of his usual prude and stern self. The prank is extremely convincing, to the point that Maria describes his outlandish behaviour as a very renegade, for there is no Christian that means to be saved by believing rightly can ever believe such impossible passages of grossness, (3.2.66 69). Despite being the one who tricked Malvolio, Maria cannot believe what she is seeing and compares his behaviour as someone who has lost his Christian faith. Otherwise, she cannot simply believe that anyone in their right mind would believe the statements made in the fake love letters. Here, we see how a simple act of deception has disrupted normalcy as this character is supposedly going mad . In another scene, deception breeds chaos once again when Sir Toby encourages Sir Andrew to battle Cesario to win Olivia s heart. Despite the fact that neither party wanted to fight and was in fact terrified at the very idea, Sir Toby continues to cause conflict by stirring up an altercation that was nonexistent to begin with. To compound such deceptive actions, Viola s pretense as a pageboy creates further confusion when her brother Sebastian appears at the end of the play. The mistaken identity becomes troublesome when Antonio is arrested in front of Cesario and when Sebastian married Olivia. The book Goodnight Moon was labeled as Contemporary Realistic Fiction, meaning it was believable and set in the modern world. Margaret Wise Brown constantly experimented with writing children s literature. She tried new things that many other authors did not try. What kept her motivated was trying to keep her target audience of children hoping and to never give up on that hope, in her own words she says to write a book simple enough ... to lift the child for a few moments from his own problems of shoelaces that won t tie and busy parents ... into the timeless world of story. which is believed to be her motivator. Intelligence can be the mental ability to reason, plan ahead, understand a wide range of complex issues and learn from past experiences (Gottfredson, 1997). Intelligence is the resultant of the process of acquiring, storing in memory, retrieving, combining, comparing, and using in new contexts information and conceptual skills (Humphreys, 1979) Intelligence is commonly measured through the use of a number of scales and quantitative measures, like the Intelligence Quotient (IQ), developed by Alfred Binet in early 20th century to identify which French children needed ...
