Robots coexisting in the human world can be beneficial to many people s lives by
allowing tasks to be performed at a much faster rate. By Google definition robots
are machines capable of carrying out a complex series of actions automatically,
especially one programmable by a computer; (especially in Science Fiction) a
machine resembling a human being and able to replicate certain human movements
and functions automatically. Many people think of robots as metal machines that
come in various shapes and sizes; not machines that look and act in such ways like
a human. Robots and other alike machines are widely used across the globe. In
factories, schools, homes, hospitals... Whilst technology grows, the need for these
complex machines becomes much greater. These machines are able to perform tasks
at a much greater speed, accuracy, and complexity compared to manual labor. In
Asimov s short story Evidence, a man by the name of Stephen Byerley was in a
horrific accident that should have resulted in his death. When Stephen runs for
mayor, Frances Quinn, his runner up, claims that the real Stephen Byerley, rather
than having recovered, was permanently disfigured and crippled by the accident, and
the Byerley who appears in the public is a humanoid robot, created by Stephen

I do not believe that the short story, Evidence, is accurate in its depiction of society
s treatment of robots. In the research we have seen thus far, the acceptance of
robots in today s society is almost unknown due to the fact that many people do not
realize they amount of robotics that they already use in their daily lives. Robots are a

Societies Maintaining Control in The Allegory of the Cave...
In The Allegory of the Cave and The Giver, these societies maintain control in
different ways. In The Allegory of the Cave, the prisoners are physically restrained,
but on the other hand, the community members in The Giver have a precision of
language rule. The people have been... shackled by the legs and neck...unable to
turn their heads around. The puppeteers in The Allegory of the Cave have
controlled the prisoners by shackling them by their legs and neck so they cannot
move. They cannot go against the puppeteers nor can they move freely to do
whatever they want so, the prisoners do what the puppeteers tell them. Do you love

Who s Irish Gish Jen Analysis
In Who s Irish by Gish Jen, the ideas of a close minded grandmother clashes with
those of the generations beneath her. Raised by traditional Chinese parents, she
enforced similar parenting techniques on her own children. When given the
opportunity to help raise her granddaughter, she has difficulties in adapting to a
more modern parenting style, of which she fails to accept because of her Chinese
traditions. Not only does she fail to adapt to a new culture, she is also critical of

As a result of the grandmother s old traditions and closed minded thoughts, she
first assumes that Sophie will be like her Chinese children and then later finds out
that she is not. In China people say mixed children are supposed to be smart, and
definitely my granddaughter Sophie is smart. But Sophie is wild, Sophie is not like
my daughter, or like me, (3). Sophie is nothing compared to her Chinese children and
concludes that she is a troubled, disobedient child. The grandmother s close minded
thinking leads to old fashioned disciplinary in effort to try to change Sophie. Because

used to her mother s parenting, not her grandmother s. Again, modern day s form of
punishment is not spanking and it is highly looked down on. It is looked upon as
abuse rather than a pnishment. The grandmother follows old traditions and focuses
on physical discipline in attempt to change Sophie s behavior, causing their

her grandmother in light of the fact that her traditional disciplinary is harsh and does
not fit with any form of punishment. With Sophie hating her grandmother, the
grandmother has trouble managing the relationship between the two because of her
traditional ways. With a closed mind and a different culture, the grandmother is no
longer able to see her granddaughter because of the traditional disciplinary that she
gave to her when she was misbehaving. Her traditional ways are disapproved by her
daughter and prohibits the grandmother from seeing Sophie. These days when my

use emotional branding as a way to attract consumers into purchasing their products.

Brands use emotional branding by presenting consumers with advertisements that will
create meaning and identity. Emotional branding is not about what the product is, but

Maybelline New York and Colorstay from Revlon present similar products that create
distinct emotional bonds with consumers by presenting images of women with
distinct emotional desires. Desires of love, independence, and strength give rise to
consumers to find an identity and meaning within the advertisements.

individuals. Their company has not only attracted the attention of women but has
caused women to identify themselves as fierce, daring, and most of all beautiful.
Maybelline s eyeshadow advertisement The Blushed Nude portrays a young women
who is striking, bold and beautiful. Maybelline wants consumers to feel beautiful and
their advertisement provides the image and desires a women seeks in accomplishing

In the video titled Fetus at 12 weeks, in which I observed, it is really hard to tell
how big the fetus is but it is the size of a plum. Which is only a few inches long. The
fetus has only begun to use reflexes really well. The fetus is actively squirming in the
beginning. Though the mother will unlikely feel the fetusmove at this time for at least
a few more weeks. The fetus is moving well developed arms and legs which mimics a
child running outside the womb and putting hands and fingers to his/her face. We
note that fetal activity is an early sign of milestones to come. These milestones are
important in normal development.
The fetus may develop at a different rate and different skills than another fetus, it is
important that they reach certain milestones. If the fetus is advancing at a normal
schedule we can come to the conclusion that the fetus is healthy and will not have
