Homework Persuasive Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Homework" can be both challenging and stimulating. The
complexity arises from the need to strike a balance between presenting compelling arguments
while remaining objective and factual. To effectively persuade the audience, one must delve into
various aspects of the topic, including its educational value, potential drawbacks, and alternative
approaches.
Initially, researching credible sources to gather evidence and statistics is crucial. This process
demands time and effort to sift through vast amounts of information, ensuring the incorporation
of diverse perspectives. Furthermore, structuring the essay in a coherent manner requires careful
planning. Developing a clear thesis statement and organizing supporting points logically can be
daunting tasks, especially when navigating through conflicting opinions.
Moreover, crafting persuasive arguments involves anticipating counterarguments and addressing
them effectively. This necessitates critical thinking and analytical skills to anticipate potential
objections and provide compelling rebuttals. Additionally, employing persuasive language and
rhetorical strategies to engage the reader and evoke empathy or concern adds another layer of
complexity to the writing process.
Despite these challenges, crafting a persuasive essay on the topic of "Homework" offers an
opportunity for personal growth and intellectual exploration. It encourages writers to critically
examine educational practices and advocate for change where necessary. By articulating well-
reasoned arguments supported by evidence, one can contribute to meaningful discussions
surrounding education reform.
In conclusion, writing a persuasive essay on this topic requires diligence, critical thinking, and
effective communication skills. It demands a thorough understanding of the subject matter and
the ability to present compelling arguments convincingly. However, despite its challenges, the
process offers valuable insights and the opportunity to effect positive change in educational
practices.

Causes And Effects Of The North Sea Flood
The North Sea Flood occurred within Saturday, 31st January 1953, and seemed to
remain persistent prior to subsiding within the morning of Sunday, 1st February.
Regardless of initial concerns regarding a plausible flood arising, citizens within the
coastal regions of England and the Netherlands remained ignorant toward constant
cautionary aids. The North SeaFlood has been considered as a calamitous
phenomenon that has forced detriments upon the citizens that resided nearing the
Northern Sea ; coastal areas of Netherlands, England, Belgium, France as well as
Denmark. Oblivion toward the aftermath of the flooding resulted within fatalities and
varying injuries. This remains as the focal reasoning referring to constant fatalities
regarding floods.
(Social Impacts)
Immense devastation was apparent consequential to the occurrence of the disaster,
the number of casualties were intensified through the lack of initial response to
warnings, that hindered individuals to evacuate prior to the flooding. Foregoing the
flood devastating the citizens within several eastern European nations, Princess
Victoria; an English passenger vessel, attempted to journey across the Irish Sea. Once
departed, the passengers ferry experienced the initial developments of the European
windstorm. 133 fatalities occurred once the Princess Victoria voyaged across the Irish
Sea, the vigorous windstorm continually developed to form a flood that aimed to
devastate the social and environmental stability
What Have You Lost By Naomi Shihab Nye
I never thought the day would come, the day I would lose someone so important to
me, my grandma. My grandma was the best grandmother ever, she was caring and
loved all of her children and her grandchildren. Elizabeth Kubler Ross has her five
stages of grieving that I had went through after my grandma had passed. In the
book of poems What Have You Lost, Naomi Shihab Nye selected various
categories of poems. The two poems I have selected have to do with the loss of a
grandmother. These poems, Tutu on the Curb and Where on this Earth have
different views on the loss of loved ones. My grandma was a very strong woman,
she always was helping others before herself. Lines from the poem, Tutu on the
Curb are very descriptive and remind me of my grandma. For example, Her hair all
pin up on one bun (3), her blue Hawaiian print muumuu/ blowing in the wind (6 7),
and also, her hair so grey! (10). All three of these lines bring back many memories of
her before she got sick. My grandma had been struggling with an uncommon
disease for a while and every month she got worse and worse, until she was just skin
and bone. It got so bad that she was too weak to walk and soon lost her ability to talk.
Everybody knew it was time for her to go, we did not want her to suffer anymore. On
a certain December day, the nurses told us that it would be her last day. So all of my
mom s sisters and brothers came to say their good byes. Some of my older cousins,
my sister and I also came. While
Analysis of Nike s Marketing Strategy

Essay on The Cathedral by Raymond Carver
Cathedral is a short story ultimately about enlightment, finding something more
meaningful and deeper with in one self. Although from an observing point of view
nothing more in the story happens then a blind man assisting the narrator in
drawing a cathedral. Although as known, the narrator s experience radically differs
from what is actually observed . He is enlightened and opened up to a new world of
vision and imagination. This brief experience will have a life long effect on him. The
reason for this strong and positive effect is not so much the relationship made
between the blindman and the narrator or even the actual events leading up to this
experience, but rather it is mostly due to what was drawn by the narrator. A... Show

His further ignorance about the blind are focused in on Robert since he is aware of
his upcoming visit. Hearing the marriage stories about Robert from his wife the
narrator cannot realize how a woman could love a blind man, It was beyond my
understanding. Hearing this, I felt sorry for the blind man for a little bit. And then I
found myself thinking what a pitiful life this women must have led (508). This
ignorance and immature understanding of relationships overshadows his attitude
toward Roberts visit, unwanted and condescending. His attitude toward the blind man
seems to change though before and furtherly during the connection they make as they
draw the cathedral together. Although there is no evidence that the narrator s
overall ignorances and prejudices are gone from the experience, it is very clear
however that he does come to some sort of revelation and enlightment, My eyes
were still closed. I was in my house. I knew that. But I didn t feel like I was inside
anything (515). Because what the narrator draws is a cathedral it is only assumable
that this enlightment that the narrator experiences has to do with values of
Christianity, in this case it would be a realization of equality and treating people with
love, little is said about the effects this revelation has on him. The narrator through
out most of the short story comes of as a pretty shallow character. Besides his
stereotyping tendencies he comes of as callous and un imaginative. He shows his

Describe the Expected Pattern of Children and Young...
TDA 2.1 Child and Young Person Development
1.1 Describe the expected pattern of children and young people s development from
birth to 19 years, to include: physical, social, emotional, behavioural, intellectual and
communicational development.
Through a young person s development, from birth to 19 they are expected to follow
a development pattern including physical, social, environmental, behavioural,
intellectual and communicational. The expected pattern is seen as the average time
period it would take to accomplish these skills. In this assignment I will discuss the
main stages of development and how it can sometimes differ for different sexes.
The expected pattern starts at 0 3 years where a child is expected to develop the most.

Many children have discovered an interest within a skilled area such as football,
athletics, horse riding or netball etc. all using different skills to progress in their
desired hobby. From the age of 10/11, girls will show early signs of puberty and
another period of rapid physical growth. A skill that is attained in this age bracket
is time keeping, children begin to realise the concept of time and their
independence is greater. Children s friendship will become more settled and this
is when groups form. They will become aware of what others think, so they start to
take care with their appearance and become more conscious about what they say.
By the age of 12, children should be fluent speakers of a language and be at a good
standard of reading and writing. They should be able to solve problems and carry out
skills within a physical activity e.g. balancing, co ordination and agility.
Progressing on from 12, children are at a vulnerable stage with self esteem. Their
bodies will be changing and they will be making decisions about their futures. Boys
will be starting to go through puberty whilst many girls will have completed the
process. Communication and intellectual development has slightly different brackets,
ages 12 18 laps over with 16 19. Youngpeople will usually have an idea about their
favourite subjects and are motivated in those areas, making sure they achieve good
results. This enables them to carry over their achievements to their career choice,

Fire Imagery In Aeneas And Creusa
As singer Alexander Nestor Haddaway once sang, What is love? It is an enduring
question, and one that many artists have attempted to answer throughout the
centuries. Today however, the focus is on one artist (Virgil), one book (The Aeneid),
and one character (Aeneas). According to Aeneas, there are two fundamental kinds of
love, passionate love and pious love. With the use of fire imagery, Virgil makes
references to these two forms of love. However, he makes it clear that they are very
different and are not to be confused with one another. A conflict occurs between these
two different forms of love which causes each to highlight the other.
With the passionate romance of Aeneas and Dido, as well as Aeneas and Creusa,
Virgil uses negative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Aeneas recounts the story of the fall of Troy, he does so tearfully, because
Troy was his home. He does, however, and the picture that follows is famous: he
carries his father Anchises on his back, he holds his son Ascanius s hand, and
Creusa, his wife, lags behind. Creusa is symbolic of his romantic past as she is lost
in the fall of Troy. Anchises is the intellectual past, and Ascanius has the potential to
mold the future Rome. Ascanius even sports a holy flame on his head, a sure sign of
the Gods, convincing Anchises to leave burning Troy with the family.
Aeneas is often referred to as pious, and therefore it makes perfect sense then that
Aeneas would place his family and home at the top of the list in importance. Even
though Troy is gone, Aeneas in part finds a new Troy in Italy for his family and
fellow countrymen. There was more to piety than just religion, however. Piety was,
after all, family first, then the state, and lastly Gods. As according to Beryl Rawson,
Pietas often focused on the reciprocal relationship between parents and children: they
owed each other affection and duty. Aeneas personified this, in his relationships with
father Anchises and son Ascanius.
There are several mentions of fire and flame imagery, of course. It d be absurd not to
notice. However, the most critical part is that Virgil places one above the other. With
the negative fire imagery of passionate romance, it can be inferred that Virgil thought
it was
Brokeback Mountain Stereotypes
Cowboys define America. From rounding up cattle to hair raising gunfight duels, the
Wild West has become one of the most recognized symbols of what it means to be a
true grit American. But what happens when you mix this staunch, western culture
with what traditional America believes to be its toughest opponent: homosexuality?
In Brokeback Mountain, Jack and Ennis embody the epitome of the predictable
American man: tough, masculine, and bold. As we expect them to saddle up and
charm all the pretty cow belles, the two men end up exploring their passion for one
another and ultimately fall in love. This tragic love story of two all american
cowboys completely redefines the all too common stereotypes surrounding gay men.
As James R. Keller and Anne Goodwyn Jones faultlessly state in their journal, This
film allow itself to assert the legitimacy and beauty of romantic love between men by
endorsing more traditional narratives... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even after having this conversation and years following of a continued love affair,
they never alter their claim that they are not queers. As Keller and Jones state in
their journal, One could argue that Jack and Ennis are in love with each other partly
because they are both in love with an idealized western masculinity that fetishizes
the outdoors and ascetic lifestyle. Although this is a valid argument, I see more of a
devoted bond between the two men because of a similar, undisclosed life that both so
uniquely share. The raw emotion in the film is laid out in a way that forces one to see
unrelenting love despite the need to label it. The fact that neither are able to adopt
their sexuality only furthers the initiative behind the film. Brokeback Mountain is the
story of traditional American men, who love in spite of their own masculinized
expectations on cultural

Masquerades festival happens every year and it is usually every November. In their

San Junipero Theory Of Identity
In the television series Black Mirror , the episode San Junipero deals with two
main characters who are in a world where they can get to choose to have their
consciousness survive in another world. The protagonists, Yorkie and Kelly meet in
the other world, which is called San Junipero, and instantly form a connection.
Yorkie is submissive and introverted, whereas Kelly is the total opposite, as she is
extroverted and the leader. They two opposites attracted, sparking an instant
relationship causing Kelly a problem of deciding whether to transfer over to San
Junipero when she dies. In this essay, I will present the problem of the theory of
identity. The two theory of identities I will be presenting in this essay are The

It allows you to live a life without being cautious. I think if I were to live in San
Junipero, I would have free will. In the real world, it is arguable that free will does
not exist because everything you do is predetermined. I think San Junipero would
be different, in that you would have free will because you are set in a fake world
without any rules. It was not introduced, but I personally feel that the San Junipero
was created as a world where evil or malice would not even be an option. I think
this because San Junipero was invented as a fun, partying world, where you did not
have to care. You had freewill because you could live life anyway you want and
then if you got bored of it, you could choose to be sent to the afterlife, whatever you
think that could possibly be. When you have freewill I think evil would not exist
because individuals are not constrained by rules, stress or judgement, and these
factors don t exist in San

The observable difference was the intensity of the experiences revealed by the

have challenges in a different manner. However, the result clearly showed that the
daughters of non institutionalized mothers are more vulnerable than the daughters of
institutionalized mothers. As a result of the mental illness of the motheraffected the
whole trajectory of the development of these daughters.
Another important observation is that a good number of the participants are unable to
identify and accept their femininity and grow into the full actualization of it and still
remain at high risk of being abused physically, sexually and emotionally. They tend to

Quality communication was essential in each of these situations not only for the
repair but the safety of everyone. The maintenance part of my job requires me to
research where to find replacement parts for an aging system or like parts of the
existing system every time something breaks or needs preventative maintenance. I
must read and research prints and plans for circuits and piping. There is not a perfect
manual for everything so, I must research and test hypothesis to troubleshoot
mechanical, lighting, hydraulic pumps etc. The data is then input into FEMS
(Facilities and Equipment Maintenance System) to track hours worked and non
routine maintenance. Maintenance is consistently monitored and stored in the FEM
system which has a record everything the operator needs to do to keep the facility
running such as storing work orders. An example of data we store beyond
maintenance hours and scheduling, is the gap in the bull nose, which is an opening
in the concrete at the end of the guard wall where the boats enter. The guard wall
keeps the boat from moving over and hitting the dam. This crack is frequently
measured and recorded for repair and safety purposes.

Since Forbes magazine is the a business magazine, the readers would know the
BlackBerry more or own it than other device. Using this example allows the
audience to have a connection between the audience and her article. To investigate
deeper into Turkle s argument , we will look in to how people become alienated
from their lives because of the BlackBerry movie . There is not much to find on the
BlackBerry movie that she was referring to. However, from its context, it is depicted
as the life that people want to have, while using the device. According to Merriam
Webster to alienate is to make unfriendly, hostile, or indifferent especially where
attachment formerly existed . In this matter, Turkle is stating that the life that we
were formerly attached to is now replaced with this the attachment to the technology
that exists now. Furthermore, we are able to understand the topic; how we are being
separated from the real world, but being tied to our technological devices and social
media. While talking about the result of technology, causing most people to lose

NBC Nightly News Report
According to an NBC Nightly News report (2011) on a Monday afternoon of April
5, 2010 a massive sound of underground explosions burst through the Upper Big
Branch Mine located in southern West Virginia killing twenty nine miners. This was
reported to be one of the worst disasters in the United States since 1970. Based on
the information reported on the NBC Nightly News (2011), the owners of Massey
Energy along with the Health and Safety Administration fail the responsibility to
ensure the safety conditions of the mine workers. With the intentions to mislead
inspectors, the mine owners of Massey Energy and Upper Big Branch Mine

of the books, the owners of Massey Energy Upper Big Branch Mine reported that
there were hazardous conditions in the company. However, the company kept this
book for themselves and another book was given to federal inspectors with
misleading information stating that there were no hazardous conditions within the
coal mine. Therefore, the mine owners business strategy was to keep the coal
production running smoothly and avoid being investigated by inspectors. The culture
of the organization influenced the mine owner to keep the company records in two

Why Is It Important To Work On The Reservation
CB created a great career for himself that allowed him to have autonomy. He
explained to us that he worked hard to get the job he had and he was able to make
his own schedules and work as often as he wanted. Even though he was able to
choose when he worked he usually was there when the other people who are part
of his company, including his children, were there. CB explained to us that he was
able to work on the reservations still doing his masonry work laying bricks to build

of two horses at a time, they are called a team. That is where the name teamster
comes from. Native Americans used horses a lot to do their hunting, working the land

culture. Both his masonry work and being a teamster are predominantly male jobs.
This is something that is similar to the Native American lifestyle due to the fact that
males do a lot of the hunting and gathering for the family while the wife cooks and
takes care of the children. This is similar to the way CB and his
Cardiac Function Lab Report
For this experiment students sought to demonstrate how cardiac function was
regulated. Students made hypothesizes for clamping, drug injections, and stimulation
with effects of arterial pressure and heart rate in mind. Students performed various
tests in order to fully obtain results for this experiment which included the injection of
drugs and their effects, using and removing a clamp and that effect, and finally used
an electrical simulation machine in order to stimulate nerves to test that effect. The
main hypothesizes depended on each treatment and each prediction was made
specifically to fit a certain set of conditions. These various tests were performed to
obtain a better understanding of cardiac function and its physiological aspects.

Research about the cardiovascular system is important because cardiovascular
function is what keeps people alive. The cardiovascular system really plays a big role
in maintaining homeostasis and sustaining life. This study further demonstrates the
vast amount of mechanisms that function together in order to provide a homeostatic
environment. Furthermore, by knowing different components of this mechanism
common illness and diseases may be more easily treated or cared for. With further
research people will better understand prevention and management of this system in
order to live a healthier life. Future studies should spend a longer period of time and
have a larger sample size in order to obtain a more accurate data set. Researchers
could also focus on how they could better understand and possible manipulate
pathways in treatment for conditions and diseases. As a whole, it can be seen that
cardiac function is by no means a single functioning mechanism and instead is an

Morte d Arthur Essay
Morte d Arthur In the Medieval Period, knights dedicated their lives to following
the code of chivalry. In Sir Thomas Malory s Le Morte d Arthur, a number of
characters performed chivalrous acts to achieve the status of an ideal knight. Their
characteristics of respect for women and courtesy for all, helpfulness to the weak,
honor, and skill in battle made the characters King Arthur, King Pellinore, and Sir
Gryfflette examples of a what knights strove to be like in Medieval society. Because
of the examples ofchivalry, Le Morted Arthur showed what a knightdesired to be, so

This was considerate behavior because even though he was angry, he was polite
and allowed them to leave safely. The warning also showed his courtesy because
he could have not told them in anticipation of their return in order to kill them
because of their disagreement. These two examples of King Arthur s respect for
the Lady of the Lake and the Roman ambassadors made him a model knight since
he was obeying the code of chivalry. In addition to being courteous, being helpful to
the weak was another aspect of chivalry portrayed through characters in the story.
First, Arthur tried to be helpful to Merlin when he was being chased by ruffians.
Arthur chased them away while riding his horse. Merlin was not in real danger
because of his magical powers, but the intent of Arthur was to help someone who
needed because he thought Merlin s powers might have failed him. Another
example of this chivalrous quality was illustrated during the battle between King
Pellinore and Sir Gryfflette. Pellinore knocked Gryfflette off his horse and, swiftly
ran over to him and loosened his armor. He then, lifted him gently onto his horse
(page 74). Sir Gryfflette was weak, and he was just knighted that day, so Pellinore
did the chivalrous action and helped him. Being helpful to the weak was a quality
that all the knights were trying to develop, and King Arthur and King Pellinore
showed this attribute in their actions with Merlin and
Video On Underage Drinking
The video on underage drinking further highlighted information that I was already
aware of. Over the last several years, I have seen multiple news stories covering the
Midwest s drinking problem. According to Bustle.com, Lincoln was found to be
one of the top ten drunkest cities in America. This doesn t come as much of a
shock to me. Drinking is part of Nebraska s culture. Small Nebraska towns are full
of drinkers; even minors are allowed to participate. Even though I am from a small
town, I didn t drinkuntil I was in college, and even then I did so in a responsible
manner. My family and friends never encouraged or participated in drinking, so I
never really felt the need to. However, the same can t be said for many of my high

malnutrition. According to UNICEF the percent of children that are underweight and

Tecumseh slowly transformed his brother s religious following into a political
movement. In 1808 Tecumseh and the Prophet moved their village to the juncture of
the Tippecanoe and Wabash rivers, where the new settlement, Prophetstown,
continued to attract Indians. After the loss of much Indian land at the Treaty of Fort
Wayne, Tecumseh gradually eclipsed his brother as the primary leader of the
movement. He traveled throughout the Midwest urging tribes to form a political
confederacy to prevent any further erosion of their lands. In November 1811, while
Tecumseh was in the South attempting to recruit the Creeks into his confederacy,
U.S. forces marched against Prophetstown. In the subsequent Battle of the
Tippecanoe they defeated the Prophet, burned the settlement, and destroyed the
Indians food supplies. After returning from the South Tecumseh tried to rebuild his
shattered confederacy. But when the War of 1812 broke out, he withdrew to
Michigan where he assisted the British in the capture of Detroit and led pro British

Aztec Warriors-Personal Narrative
Mexico. Land of the Aztec warriors. Land of the Latin lovers. Land of my blood.
Mexico is the land that I abandoned as an infant, with my mother, and never looked
back. Except, I had to go back the month prior to the start of my Junior year in high
school. I never thought I would return home until I was an old lady, or, at least,
someday with my entire family. Instead, there I was, underneath the celestial sky, on
the side of the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains, in the town that I once lived in: La
Esperanza. That night, a cool breath of air blew throughout the corners and curves of
the cobblestone streets flapping the curtains of cement houses around like the skirt of
a dancing woman. As I walk through the streets, the night cannot put the living to
rest. Small children with dirt streaked faces and hole ridden clothes ran around the
streets playing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

just two windows and two rooms. With the key my father gave me, I open the

the ceiling, an intricate flower design shines proudly with the rest of the room,

1.What are your thoughts on the text so far, based on your perceptions of poverty
do you think the author illustrated it accurately? I believe that she did a good job
illustrating the ways she was dealing with poverty. She also gave great example on
the different jobs and things she had to overcome so she could get a better life.
2.Why was it so difficult for Barbara and the people she met to find housing?
The area that she was living it was to expensive for them to afford the house. She
could not afford with only one jobs. That is why she was looking for a second job.
It was difficult to find a stable job. The jobs she got didn t pay enough money.
3.How successful would you rate Barbara s attempt to work a second job to pay the
rent? Why? What would you have done differently? She is not successful; she didn t
have enough time because she was working both jobs she was trying to manage both

worry about rent money or finding a job.
5.What hope do the people that Barbara encounters have for their future if any?
I believe that they didn t think about the future, they only live in the moment. They

You can t blame them sometimes people don t take risk for opportunity. They did

The United States Positioning as a World Superpower: Its Subsequent Influence in the
United Nations and Views Regarding Human Rights
America stands at this moment at the summit of the world.
Winston Churchill, 1945
As World War II came to a close, a new need for an international peacekeeping
organization became apparent in order to maintain peaceful relations among nations
in the post World War II era. The United Nations(UN) came into effect on October
24, 1945 for this very purpose and also to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights,
in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of men and women
and of nations large and small . One of the leading organs of the UN, the Security

Ironically, even though the UN aided the U.S. into its position as a world leader
post WWII, the U.S. tends to believe that the UN is holding them back from further
developing as a prevailing Nation. This conflict between the U.S. and the UN can be
seen specifically in the events leading up to America s war on Iraq, where the U.S.
demonstrated the use of force to promote democracy as their method of improving
human rights.
The conclusion of World War II not only ended four years of bitter global warfare,
but also marked the creation of a new era for the United States. The United States
emerged out of World War II not only victorious but newly strengthened. The other
Ally powers had proven victorious as well, but were faced with much greater
losses than the United States. The United States exited the war relatively physically
unharmed, economically revived, and diplomatically reinforced. The period of the
Great Depression that had lingered over the American people for twelve years was
over. The country was stimulated by economic growth and rising prosperity. The
policies of American isolationism that had governed foreign policy for a century and
a half were coming to a close. The American people were feeling invigorated and
possessed much national self confidence. The United States came out of WWII a

Importance Of The British Empire
The Cultural Importance of the British Empire During the reign of Queen Victoria,
Great Britain was the centre of a global empire, controlling nearly one quarter of the
Earth. Although only a small minority of the population of the Empire was actually
British, British bureaucrats directly administrated it. Moreover, Victorian age is
often referred to as the period of the Pax Britannica, since the territories controlled
by the British Crown lived under a relative peaceful kingdom. Especially the
motherland enjoyed peace and prosperity; the only wars of this period were the
sporadic rebellions in the distant colonies, which, however, did not trouble the British
citizens on the island (Greenblatt 1636 1640). Through the Empire, British people...

believed that: all the historical information which has been collected from all the

Comparison Between Relative Deprivation And Routine...
Two theories that best support a terroristic acts are, relative deprivation and routine
activity. Relative deprivation theory states that when desires becomes a legitimate
expectation, those desires are then blocked by society. The terrorist group believes
that it lacks every day necessities to survive, causing their desires to be greater and
the reflection of how they feel as a whole includes more of what they see as a
necessity rather than a want. The goal is to find a way to incorporate their wants and
needs and have it be sustained no matter the cause. They are not satisfied with their
lifestyle and are persistent for immediate change. Routine activity theory is primarily

The Intellectual Property
The lawyer Gregory T. Victoroff said At its best, sampling benefits society by creating
a valuable new contribution to modern music literature. At its worst, sampling is
vandalism and stealing . Half way between creativity and plagiarism, sampling is a
controversial issue in the music industry and the infringement of copyright. In this
assignment I m going to be discussing copyright and intellectual propertyrights in
relation to the music industry.
The Statute of Anne, was the first form of law that protected intellectual property,
invented in the UK in 1709. The ultimate goal of intellectual property law is that
human knowledge is increased and made accessible to everyone. Under the umbrella
of intellectual property, there are four rights that protect creative works: performers
rights, moral rights, trademarks and copyright. This rights need to exist in order to
protect artistic integrity and give entitlement to the authors. Intellectual property
covers different rights in the creative industries, especially, copyright is the frame that
governs all the activities in the music industry.
Moral rights are the basis of artistic integrity, as opposed to copyright that gives
rights to receive economic reward for the use of a creative work. Moral rights
include the right of paternity, which is the right to be identified as the author of the
work. False attribution right gives right to not have a work falsely attributed to you.
And integrity right, is the right of an author
Examples Of A Forced Oscillator
The steam engine is a perfect example of a forced oscillator as the piston oscillates
back and forth. The steam engine is a forced oscillator as it is a heavily dampened
system that has a force to counter the resistance and keep the piston moving at a
constant oscillation until the force is removed from the system.
Due to the steam engine being quite heavily damped this oscillator will just simply
stop without a force to compensate for the resistance within this system. But this
force also has to be applied at the perfect time as it will have no or little affect if it
is applied at the wrong time so timing has to be taken into account and the size of the
force also has to be just enough to overcome the resistance to either accelerate the
piston or to keep it a constant velocity. The force though has to be equal to
resistance to keep the piston moving at a constant velocity and to increase the
velocity of the piston the force will have to be greater than the resistance in the
system, but to decrease the velocity of the piston the force will have to be less than
the resistance in the system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So if there is no resistance this system could act like simple harmonic motion, but
there is resistance in the system which means without the force it is a damped system
and because of this force it has to be classified as a forced oscillator. So all of these
forces act have to act in perfect harmony to keep the oscillating motion going or else
this oscillator will no act like a forced oscillator and will act like a damped oscillator
or a simple harmonic

The Guns Of August, By Barbara W. Tuchman
Although many common citizens have often had several preconceived ideas behind
the causes of the first and second world war, historians believe in one main cause of
the first world war, also called the Great War, and that is the assassination of the
archduke of Austria named Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo. Several novels have been
written regarding this Great War but one book that sparks the attention of the public
some years after this war occurred is entitled The Guns of August. Its title describes
the insurmountable events regarding the first month of the first World War.
The Guns of August was written by Barbara W. Tuchman and was published in
1962 , forty four years after the end of the Great War. This book elaborates on the
events of World War Iin a manner where the author emphasizes rather more on the
causes of the war in contrast to the events following the first world war. Tuchman
begins the novel with a detailed personal view of the death of the King of the
United Kingdom at the time, King Edward VII. Concerning the people present in the
novel, several faces are described by Tuchman such as great nobles and great kings
that attended this funeral. Although all nobles and kings mourned the death of such
great king, the King of Germany himself was joyous for the fact that he would finally
show the power of Germany towards the modern world that they knew. Throughout
the novel, the author uses imagery several times in order to portray the views of

Why Should Students Carry Guns On Campus
Guns on College Campus Louisiana should not pass the law for students and
faculty members to have concealed weapons on college campuses. Our country and
especially New Orleans, Louisiana have major problems with gun violence.
Students and faculty bringing concealed weapons inside of a college building shall
remain illegal because that is putting others in danger. Mass shooting events on
college campuses are happening too often since 2007. Students are not allowed to
bring guns on college campuses building because they could put others in danger.
College campuses should not let anyone carry concealed weapons inside of the
building. It is illegal to carry guns on campuses for students and faculty members to
have on them, if they have license permits. Neither the students nor the faculty should
use guns because they bring violence on campuses and could kill someone. It is
unsafe for students to bring a guninside of the classroom on campus premises. A
student is unhappy with their grades that was being received from the teacher and
they get into an argument. The teacher was being unfair to the students about their
grades and assignments that led into altercation between them. The students were
misbehaving in the classroom because they were not following the instructions for
the assignment that the teacher gave them to do. Bringing guns inside of the
classroom is unsafe because someone can harm the faculty and other students.

Literary Interpretation In The Birth-Mark
The Birth Mark is a story about a husband, Aylmer, who looks at his wife,
Georgiana, as imperfection, due to the mark on her left cheek. The setting of the
story was based in the late 1700s, between the laboratory and a boudoir. In the
story, a lot of detail goes into the laboratory and the boudoir that help characterize
them and help give the overall metaphor at the end of the story. The details of both
places show the effort Georgiana is going through to satisfy Aylmer. It also helps
one visualize what setting they are in, also, how it disturbs the project at hand. If
one were to be an allegorical reader, it would present the ruin Aylmer is putting
Georgiana through. In the story, figurative speech supports the setting by
specifying what the places are and where they occur. The lab was classified as
depressing, gloomy, and dark while Georgiana s boudoir is bright and airy. The
mood setting of a place is figurative speech. The central metaphor of the story is the
name given to it, The Birth Mark. Georgiana was not only beautiful but she had a
birthmark on her which makes her stands of from other girls. It makes her unique in
some ways. The one person who not wanting to accept this mark on her face is
Aylmer, he husband. He claims to not be able to accept this distinguishing trait about
Georgiana so he tries to take away this factor on her face that makes other stare. This
gives us the idea to take this birthmark as the metaphor in the story. This stands for
The s Descent Into Depression And Madness
1.Many signs throughout the novel specify Esther s descent into depression and
madness. Outside factors such as social pressures cause Esther s descent into
madness. Societal pressures to get married and be pure expedite Esther s descent
into madness. The stages of this are specified at first as Esther saying she feels I
just bumped from my hotel to work and to parties and from parties to my hotel and
back to work like a numb trolleybus. This feeling of being inexplicably unhappy and
not having any motivation is the first stage of her descent into madness. This
quickly progresses to her feeling more depressed and not being able to partake in
activities she usually enjoyed. She slowly loses the ability to read and write
which is a large step towards insanity. She fully descends into madness when she
begins to have suicidal thoughts and actions, which she eventually tries to act
upon. Her descent into madness was inevitable because she is suffering from a
mental condition that would have caused her to go insane regardless, but her
experiences and outside pressures drive her to madness more quickly. 2.The
primary meaning of the bell jar in the novel is the unspecified mental illness that
plagues Esther. She feels trapped inside her mind and in turn this causes her to feel
hopeless and isolated. She says that no matter what she does she ...would be sitting
under the same glass bell jar, stewing in my own soul air . The bell jar could also
symbolize the outside social

Experiment #4A A Separation and purification Scheme Amena Alkeswani, PHCC
Dhanlal Murally, PHCC September 27, 2012 Abstract: There are millions of
different organic compounds. Most of them are found in mixtures and in order to
achieve a pure form they need to be separated, isolated, and purified. However, there
are endless numbers of possible mixtures, which make it impossible to have a pre
designed procedure for every mixture. So chemists often have to make their own
procedures. The purpose of this experiment was to prepare the student to the real
world by them designing their own procedure which will help them understand the
techniques of separation and purification better. The goal was to extract two of the

Essay about Faulkner s Condemnation of the South in...
Faulkner s Condemnation of the South in Absalom, Absalom
William Faulkner came from an old, proud, and distinguished
Mississippi family, which included a governor, a colonel in the Confederate
army, and notable business pioneers. Through his experiences from growing up in the
old South, Faulkner
has been able to express the values of the South through his characters.
William Faulkner s Absalom, Absalom offers a strong condemnation of the
mores and morals of the South.
Faulkner s strong condemnation of the values of the South emanates
from the actual story of the Sutpen family whose history must be seen as
connected to the history of the South (Bloom 74). Quentin tells this ... Show more

To fulfill his quest, Sutpen
spends his entire life trying to repeat the past only to correct it (Bloom
38). He has a grand design to be the son who seized the power of his
father and then be the father to keep that same power from being seized by
his own son (Searle 23).
The first step of Sutpen s design includes marrying Eulalia Bon and
having a pure white son named Charles Bon. When Thomas Sutpen realizes
that Charles is partially Negro because of Eulalia s heritage, he rejects
them both and is forced to start his design over. This is Faulkner s way
of condemning racism in the South. Thomas Sutpen later marries Ellen
Coldfield and has a second son named Henry and a daughter named Judith.
Thomas Sutpen s design is nearly complete when Charles shows up from his
first marriage and falls in love with Judith, nearly uniting the two
families. This incestuous relationship causes Henry Sutpen to kill Charles
Bon to save his family from miscegenation. Using incest in this novel is
another way that Faulkner condemns the mores and morals of the South.
Thomas Sutpen tries two more times to fulfill his design by trying
to have a pure white son and refusing to let that son seize the power that
he had successfully seized from his father.
The Role Of Academic Thinking Surrounding Cities
1.1 Introduction to Global City Theory
Academic thinking surrounding cities prior to the global recession of the early 1980s
was somewhat limited in its understanding of international influences on the
attributes and characteristics of said cities. Their analysis was limited by boundaries
of national or regional boarders and the hierarchies that these dictate (Taylor, 2003).
The national scale was at this point the principle scale on which cities where
categorised and ranked. Brenner et al state that:
The possibility that urban development or the formation of urban hierarchies might
be conditioned by supranational or global forces was not systematically explored.
(Brenner and Keil, 2006, p6)
Although this was the common thinking the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

However as Friedmann himself states it was never intended to be a definitive piece.
In part 1.2 of this paper the key characteristics of a global city will be identified
however for this introduction, global cities theory or as it was known at the time
World City Theory can be summarised into the following quote:
World cities are the control centres of the global economy. Their status, of course, is
evolving in the measure that given regions are integrated in a dominant role with the
world system. And like the golden cities of ancient empires, they draw into
themselves the wealth of the world that is ruled by them. They become the major
points for the accumulation of capital and all that money can buy. They are
luxurious, splendid cities whose very splendour obscures the poverty on which their
wealth is based. The juxtaposition is not merely spatial; it is a functional relation:
rich and poor define each other.
(Friedmann, et al, 1982, p5)
This creates a narrative of inherent inequality within global cities, that will be
explored in the following text. By using this as a starting point to asses the
functioning of cities, this paper will draw upon various international cities to
compare and contrast individual effects of globalisation. Primarily Tokyowill be used
as a case study for deeper analysis allowing greater understanding of the real world
effects that globalisation is inflicting upon the composition of highly
Tina s Arms And Straight Into Mine
It was late in the afternoon on; March 29, 2000 it was a cool spring day when I
first laid eyes on you. I had walked over to Wendy s to get something to drink, as I
was anxiously waiting to meet you! I would not be getting off work that day until
five, but they decided to arrive early to surprise me! We had a previous plan that I
would meet you at home after I got off from work, it was about 3:30 that afternoon,
I can t tell you what Mike and Tina were wearing at that point what they were even
saying, the minute the very minute I laid eyes on you tears welled up in my eyes it
was tears of pure joy, I fell in love with you immediately, looking back not many

I put you down to go potty before you went in the house, everyone was there to
meet you, Jesse was there Bean and Jenny, Willie and of course Mr. P, and Annie,
everyone acted like you always lived there we were just coming home from
another day at work. You never cried like most puppies do that first night home;
you slept snuggled up in my arms like you did so many nights to come. The
following morning when I had to go to work, it was so hard to look at your sweet
little face; you seemed okay with it even though it was ripping my heart out to
leave you. I would have liked nothing better than to take you with me, or better yet
stayed at home. You had been home for about two weeks, it was a beautiful spring
day in early April, we were welcoming the warmer weather, Mindy and I was sitting
out on the front porch watching you playing with the other dogs, running around
chasing each other enjoying the warm sunny day, I happened to look over at the
bush next to me, I said to Mindy I think spring is here, look at all the ladybugs, You
came running !I tried for two weeks to give you a name, we thought of every cool
name possible, Native American names, little simple names, fancy names, and
everything in between, the minute I mentioned the ladybugs you perked up came
running, looked at me that s it! That s my name mommy Ladybug So low and
behold you picked out your own name, and you know honey I absolutely loved it,
Ladybug or better known as Buggy.
How To Make A Water Garden Essay
You can have a beautiful and calming water garden no matter how much or how
little space you have. All you need is a weekend and a little planning to have all the
beauty, tranquility and calming atmosphere you desire at an affordable price. Your
first decision will be to find a spot for your garden. Most people choose spots where
there is a good amount of shade in the afternoon and early evening. You will need at
least five hours of good sunlight a day for your water plants since most water plants
need direct sunlight to survive and be healthy. It s not recommended that you place
your water gardendirectly under a shade tree with over hanging branches that will
drop leaves into your pond, unless you like cleaning leaves out of it everyday. It
may help to remember while choosing a spot for your pond that water is heavy,
about 8 pounds per gallon, the addition of plants and fish will make things pretty
heavy so be sure the area you choose will hold everything plus the pump. Some
people like a variety of plants, fish or accessories in their ponds, while others only
want two or three things, this all depends on you and what pleases your senses.
Don t forget to place your garden close to an easily accessible water source since you
will need to replace water levels and keep things fresh and stable everyday. Next,
you will need to decide what type of enclosure you re going to build. Do not use
chemically treated wood since it contains arsenic and is not eco friendly.
Margaret Steffler s A Complicated Kindness
Margaret Steffler s article, Fragments and Absences, states, Language in A
Complicated Kindness, constructed, responded to, and commented on by Nomi as
first person narrator, demonstrates a linguistic fragmentation comparable to the
material fragments surrounding the deserted daughter and sister (5). To understand
this comment further, we have to analyze A Complicated Kindness. In Miriam Toews
novel, we focus on the protagonists Naomi Nomi Nickel; she is a curious and
defiant sixteen year old who is developing in a kind of stunted world, or as she states
a non progressive community (11). Nomi is trying to find herself, and this brings her
into conflict with the community, and its authorities, especially her uncle Hans The
Mouth Rosenfeldt... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her narration is filled with constant deviations, jumping around, and incomplete
endings; her inability to maintain focus, it seems, is stated at the very beginning of
the novel, Nomi has a problem with endings (1). So, instead of an ending, she
simply states a memory, or begins another story; we can see this in the spaces
between some paragraphs, the lines that indicate a beginning of a new fragment, or
simply a new chapter. Another example of her inability to conclude is the novels
ending, it seems like she is writing to her teacher her final assignment. In the
assignment she ends it by saying she will do things like leave and start a new life,
but in actuality she hasn t done anything she is still sitting in the empty house, so the
reader is left wondering, did Nomi really get out of the Mennonite community? The
ending in itself is not
Raphaels Bible Vs. Michelangelo s Sistine Chapel
Raphael s Bible compared to Michelangelo s Sistine Chapel
Arguing that Raphael s Bible was meant to physically and theoretically fill a spare
gap in the Vatican s representation of the bible requires deepening our appreciation of
the Sistine Chapel. Indeed, one could think that there is no big difference between
these two masterpieces since Michelangelo also depicts the Old Testament:
nevertheless, it is by looking at the choice of scenes and stories represented in both
stories that the differences emerge. In Raphael s Bible, the artist voluntary chose to
avoid the violent and degrading scenes of the Old Testament: the drunkenness of
Noah (see fig. 10) the mockery of his own son, his daughters sleeping with him, that

How Is Pearl Justified In The Scarlet Letter
Pearl: The Elf child Generally, the more characters a book has, the more
challenging it is for a writer to create a well organized interaction between book s
characters. For this reason, the author thinks twice before adding a new personality
into the story. Thus, for a character to become a part of the book, his or her
existence has to be justified. In other words, a characterhas to earn his place in the
story. There is no doubt that Pearl earns her place in Nathaniel Hawthorne s book
The Scarlet Letter . First of all, she is the illegitimate daughter of Hester Prynne and
Arthur Dimmesdale. Given that Pearl is the only proof of Hester s sin, if the child
had never been born, the scarlet letter would not had been put on Hester s chest....

Pearl makes it obvious to Chillingworth who her father is; she boils Dimmesdale
down to a confession and presumably to the soul purification. One will reject that
such a well developed and pure character as Pearl deserves more that just a role of
the connecting link (535) in the electric chain (534) between Hester and
Dimmesdale. Yes, she does; she is eventually rewarded with a wealthy husband
and a beautiful child. She receives a happy, married life overseas. However, even
such a desirable destiny as Pearl s again serves as an example and a moral lesson
for a reader. Hawthorne tells that the origin does not define a person s destiny and
that children do not have to atone for their parents
Explain What Happened At Valley Forge
Valley Forge

Valley Forge The Continental Army, led by George Washington, spent the winter of
1777 1778 at Valley Forge. This was 20 miles outside of Philadelphia, where the
British had taken control of earlier that year. The conditions were terrible at Valley
Forge, the weather was freezing and many soldiers didn t have many clothes, but they
had to stay close enough to Philadelphia to keep an eye on the British (Washington

Diptychs In Ancient Rome
Diptychs were commonly commissioned by powerful Roman families as a way to
commemorate special and significant events. Most commonly they attainment of the
consulship. The diptych form, at least originally, served as a pair of covers for wax

Although Constantine endorsed Christianity and dedicated his New Rome in the East
to the Christian God, not all Romans accepted his decree and many did not convert to
the new religion. Even all ancients cults were banned and closed temples in 391.
The plaques were created around 400 AD on the eve of Alaric s sack of the eternal
city.
Members of the old senatorial families in Rome revived the pagan religion at the end
of the fourth century, and had chosen a historicist neo

epilepsy patients, the cause is mostly unknown. The Epilepsy Therapy Project says
that 10 percent of people will have seizures in their lifetime. Epilepsy affects more
than 300,000 children under the age of fifth teen and more than 90,000 young
people in this group have seizures that cannot be adequately treated(AANS). The
rates start to increase when people age, mainly as they develop strokes, brain

more than 570,000 adults over the age of sixty suffer from the disorder(AANS).
Men are more likely than women to have epilepsy. Children and adolescents are
more likely to have epilepsy that s unknown why. Brain injury or infection can
cause epilepsy at any age. The Epilepsy Foundation also reports that 70 percent of

Willy Loman Tragic Hero Analysis
Arthur Miller s play Death of A Salesman demonstrates the life of a man facing
troubles within himself and society. A tragedy is the imitation of an action that
arouses fear and pity. This play could be considered a tragedy because it depicts the
downfall of a perfect family and outlines the deterioration of a man s life. A tragic
hero, as defined by Aristotle, is someone who exemplifies great importance or heroic
qualities; however, Arthur Miller views the tragic hero as someone who struggles
heroically with life. Using Arthur Miller s definition, it can be determined that Willy
Loman is a tragic hero. Even though Willy Loman does not fit the classical view of
a tragic hero, he is in fact a modern day tragic hero because of his error in judgment,
a reversal of fortune, and his excessive pride. The first characteristic defined by
Aristotle describes someone who conveys an error in judgment, or hamartia. Hamartia
is the downfall of a tragic hero caused by a fatal flaw. According to this description,
Willy Loman fits the characteristic of hamartia because he had the inability to see and
define success.
WILLY: Don t say? Tell you a secret, boys. Don t breathe it to a soul. Someday I ll
have my own business, and I ll never have to leave home any more.
HAPPY: Like Uncle Charley, heh?
WILLY: Bigger than Uncle Charley! Because Charley is not liked. He s liked, but he
s not well liked.
Willy believed true success came from personal qualities, leading to wealth and

  • 2. Causes And Effects Of The North Sea Flood The North Sea Flood occurred within Saturday, 31st January 1953, and seemed to remain persistent prior to subsiding within the morning of Sunday, 1st February. Regardless of initial concerns regarding a plausible flood arising, citizens within the coastal regions of England and the Netherlands remained ignorant toward constant cautionary aids. The North SeaFlood has been considered as a calamitous phenomenon that has forced detriments upon the citizens that resided nearing the Northern Sea ; coastal areas of Netherlands, England, Belgium, France as well as Denmark. Oblivion toward the aftermath of the flooding resulted within fatalities and varying injuries. This remains as the focal reasoning referring to constant fatalities regarding floods. (Social Impacts) Immense devastation was apparent consequential to the occurrence of the disaster, the number of casualties were intensified through the lack of initial response to warnings, that hindered individuals to evacuate prior to the flooding. Foregoing the flood devastating the citizens within several eastern European nations, Princess Victoria; an English passenger vessel, attempted to journey across the Irish Sea. Once departed, the passengers ferry experienced the initial developments of the European windstorm. 133 fatalities occurred once the Princess Victoria voyaged across the Irish Sea, the vigorous windstorm continually developed to form a flood that aimed to devastate the social and environmental stability
  • 3. What Have You Lost By Naomi Shihab Nye I never thought the day would come, the day I would lose someone so important to me, my grandma. My grandma was the best grandmother ever, she was caring and loved all of her children and her grandchildren. Elizabeth Kubler Ross has her five stages of grieving that I had went through after my grandma had passed. In the book of poems What Have You Lost, Naomi Shihab Nye selected various categories of poems. The two poems I have selected have to do with the loss of a grandmother. These poems, Tutu on the Curb and Where on this Earth have different views on the loss of loved ones. My grandma was a very strong woman, she always was helping others before herself. Lines from the poem, Tutu on the Curb are very descriptive and remind me of my grandma. For example, Her hair all pin up on one bun (3), her blue Hawaiian print muumuu/ blowing in the wind (6 7), and also, her hair so grey! (10). All three of these lines bring back many memories of her before she got sick. My grandma had been struggling with an uncommon disease for a while and every month she got worse and worse, until she was just skin and bone. It got so bad that she was too weak to walk and soon lost her ability to talk. Everybody knew it was time for her to go, we did not want her to suffer anymore. On a certain December day, the nurses told us that it would be her last day. So all of my mom s sisters and brothers came to say their good byes. Some of my older cousins, my sister and I also came. While

  • 5. Essay on The Cathedral by Raymond Carver Cathedral is a short story ultimately about enlightment, finding something more meaningful and deeper with in one self. Although from an observing point of view nothing more in the story happens then a blind man assisting the narrator in drawing a cathedral. Although as known, the narrator s experience radically differs from what is actually observed . He is enlightened and opened up to a new world of vision and imagination. This brief experience will have a life long effect on him. The reason for this strong and positive effect is not so much the relationship made between the blindman and the narrator or even the actual events leading up to this experience, but rather it is mostly due to what was drawn by the narrator. A... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His further ignorance about the blind are focused in on Robert since he is aware of his upcoming visit. Hearing the marriage stories about Robert from his wife the narrator cannot realize how a woman could love a blind man, It was beyond my understanding. Hearing this, I felt sorry for the blind man for a little bit. And then I found myself thinking what a pitiful life this women must have led (508). This ignorance and immature understanding of relationships overshadows his attitude toward Roberts visit, unwanted and condescending. His attitude toward the blind man seems to change though before and furtherly during the connection they make as they draw the cathedral together. Although there is no evidence that the narrator s overall ignorances and prejudices are gone from the experience, it is very clear however that he does come to some sort of revelation and enlightment, My eyes were still closed. I was in my house. I knew that. But I didn t feel like I was inside anything (515). Because what the narrator draws is a cathedral it is only assumable that this enlightment that the narrator experiences has to do with values of Christianity, in this case it would be a realization of equality and treating people with love, little is said about the effects this revelation has on him. The narrator through out most of the short story comes of as a pretty shallow character. Besides his stereotyping tendencies he comes of as callous and un imaginative. He shows his lack of

Many children have discovered an interest within a skilled area such as football, athletics, horse riding or netball etc. all using different skills to progress in their desired hobby. From the age of 10/11, girls will show early signs of puberty and another period of rapid physical growth. A skill that is attained in this age bracket is time keeping, children begin to realise the concept of time and their independence is greater. Children s friendship will become more settled and this is when groups form. They will become aware of what others think, so they start to take care with their appearance and become more conscious about what they say. By the age of 12, children should be fluent speakers of a language and be at a good standard of reading and writing. They should be able to solve problems and carry out skills within a physical activity e.g. balancing, co ordination and agility. Progressing on from 12, children are at a vulnerable stage with self esteem. Their bodies will be changing and they will be making decisions about their futures. • 7. Fire Imagery In Aeneas And Creusa As singer Alexander Nestor Haddaway once sang, What is love? It is an enduring question, and one that many artists have attempted to answer throughout the centuries. Today however, the focus is on one artist (Virgil), one book (The Aeneid), and one character (Aeneas). According to Aeneas, there are two fundamental kinds of love, passionate love and pious love. With the use of fire imagery, Virgil makes references to these two forms of love. However, he makes it clear that they are very different and are not to be confused with one another. A conflict occurs between these two different forms of love which causes each to highlight the other. With the passionate romance of Aeneas and Dido, as well as Aeneas and Creusa, Virgil uses negative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Aeneas recounts the story of the fall of Troy, he does so tearfully, because Troy was his home. He does, however, and the picture that follows is famous: he carries his father Anchises on his back, he holds his son Ascanius s hand, and Creusa, his wife, lags behind. Creusa is symbolic of his romantic past as she is lost in the fall of Troy. Anchises is the intellectual past, and Ascanius has the potential to mold the future Rome. Ascanius even sports a holy flame on his head, a sure sign of the Gods, convincing Anchises to leave burning Troy with the family. Aeneas is often referred to as pious, and therefore it makes perfect sense then that Aeneas would place his family and home at the top of the list in importance. Even though Troy is gone, Aeneas in part finds a new Troy in Italy for his family and fellow countrymen. There was more to piety than just religion, however. Piety was, after all, family first, then the state, and lastly Gods. As according to Beryl Rawson, Pietas often focused on the reciprocal relationship between parents and children: they owed each other affection and duty. Aeneas personified this, in his relationships with father Anchises and son Ascanius. There are several mentions of fire and flame imagery, of course. It d be absurd not to notice. However, the most critical part is that Virgil places one above the other. With the negative fire imagery of passionate romance, it can be inferred that Virgil thought it was
  • 8. Brokeback Mountain Stereotypes Cowboys define America. From rounding up cattle to hair raising gunfight duels, the Wild West has become one of the most recognized symbols of what it means to be a true grit American. But what happens when you mix this staunch, western culture with what traditional America believes to be its toughest opponent: homosexuality? In Brokeback Mountain, Jack and Ennis embody the epitome of the predictable American man: tough, masculine, and bold. As we expect them to saddle up and charm all the pretty cow belles, the two men end up exploring their passion for one another and ultimately fall in love. As Keller and Jones state in their journal, One could argue that Jack and Ennis are in love with each other partly because they are both in love with an idealized western masculinity that fetishizes the outdoors and ascetic lifestyle. Although this is a valid argument, I see more of a devoted bond between the two men because of a similar, undisclosed life that both so uniquely share. The raw emotion in the film is laid out in a way that forces one to see unrelenting love despite the need to label it. The fact that neither are able to adopt their sexuality only furthers the initiative behind the film. In addition to being courteous, being helpful to the weak was another aspect of chivalry portrayed through characters in the story. First, Arthur tried to be helpful to Merlin when he was being chased by ruffians. Arthur chased them away while riding his horse. Merlin was not in real danger because of his magical powers, but the intent of Arthur was to help someone who needed because he thought Merlin s powers might have failed him. • 30. The Intellectual Property The lawyer Gregory T. Victoroff said At its best, sampling benefits society by creating a valuable new contribution to modern music literature. At its worst, sampling is vandalism and stealing . Half way between creativity and plagiarism, sampling is a controversial issue in the music industry and the infringement of copyright. In this assignment I m going to be discussing copyright and intellectual propertyrights in relation to the music industry. The Statute of Anne, was the first form of law that protected intellectual property, invented in the UK in 1709. The ultimate goal of intellectual property law is that human knowledge is increased and made accessible to everyone. Under the umbrella of intellectual property, there are four rights that protect creative works: performers rights, moral rights, trademarks and copyright. This rights need to exist in order to protect artistic integrity and give entitlement to the authors. Intellectual property covers different rights in the creative industries, especially, copyright is the frame that governs all the activities in the music industry. Moral rights are the basis of artistic integrity, as opposed to copyright that gives rights to receive economic reward for the use of a creative work. Moral rights include the right of paternity, which is the right to be identified as the author of the work. False attribution right gives right to not have a work falsely attributed to you. And integrity right, is the right of an author
  • 31. Examples Of A Forced Oscillator The steam engine is a perfect example of a forced oscillator as the piston oscillates back and forth. The steam engine is a forced oscillator as it is a heavily dampened system that has a force to counter the resistance and keep the piston moving at a constant oscillation until the force is removed from the system. Due to the steam engine being quite heavily damped this oscillator will just simply stop without a force to compensate for the resistance within this system. But this force also has to be applied at the perfect time as it will have no or little affect if it is applied at the wrong time so timing has to be taken into account and the size of the force also has to be just enough to overcome the resistance to either accelerate the piston or to keep it a constant velocity. The force though has to be equal to resistance to keep the piston moving at a constant velocity and to increase the velocity of the piston the force will have to be greater than the resistance in the system, but to decrease the velocity of the piston the force will have to be less than the resistance in the system. ... Concerning the people present in the novel, several faces are described by Tuchman such as great nobles and great kings that attended this funeral. Although all nobles and kings mourned the death of such great king, the King of Germany himself was joyous for the fact that he would finally show the power of Germany towards the modern world that they knew. The setting of the story was based in the late 1700s, between the laboratory and a boudoir. In the story, a lot of detail goes into the laboratory and the boudoir that help characterize them and help give the overall metaphor at the end of the story. The details of both places show the effort Georgiana is going through to satisfy Aylmer. It also helps one visualize what setting they are in, also, how it disturbs the project at hand. If one were to be an allegorical reader, it would present the ruin Aylmer is putting Georgiana through. In the story, figurative speech supports the setting by specifying what the places are and where they occur. The lab was classified as depressing, gloomy, and dark while Georgiana s boudoir is bright and airy. The mood setting of a place is figurative speech. All you need is a weekend and a little planning to have all the beauty, tranquility and calming atmosphere you desire at an affordable price. Your first decision will be to find a spot for your garden. Most people choose spots where there is a good amount of shade in the afternoon and early evening. You will need at least five hours of good sunlight a day for your water plants since most water plants need direct sunlight to survive and be healthy. It s not recommended that you place your water gardendirectly under a shade tree with over hanging branches that will drop leaves into your pond, unless you like cleaning leaves out of it everyday. It may help to remember while choosing a spot for your pond that water is heavy, about 8 pounds per gallon, the addition of plants and fish will make things pretty heavy so be sure the area you choose will hold everything plus the pump. Some people like a variety of plants, fish or accessories in their ponds, while others only want two or three things, this all depends on you and what pleases your senses. Don t forget to place your garden close to an easily accessible water source since you will need to replace water levels and keep things fresh and stable everyday. Next, you will need to decide what type of enclosure you re going to build. Do not use chemically treated wood since it contains arsenic and is not eco friendly.

A tragedy is the imitation of an action that arouses fear and pity.
