from one side of the bank to the other. Starting at 0cm, we put a metre ruler into the
water, ensuring that it touched the ground, and first measured to where the water
stopped at the ruler to find the water depth. Then, we measured from the bottom to
where the tape was stretched out to find the depth of the channel. We repeated this
every 20cm until we got to the other side. This method was done for sites 1 and 2
on 27th June 2016, at about 10:30 am for site 1 (Busketts Lawn) and about 2:30
pm for site 2 (Woodlands). It took us about 20 minutes overall for each site. This
method is necessary because it will let me draw up a cross section graph which
allows me to find the occupied channel width (a key question), wetted perimeter

The Monastic movement during the middle ages is one of the most tremendous
movements in Christianity. They were referred to as intermediaries which is a
glorious way to be connected to God in heaven through a monastery or abbey on
earth. Overtime they had become great learning and spiritually growing places which
supported not only their monastic community but also the broader society. Cluny
Abbey had a significant influence on social, cultural, economic and spiritual aspects
on the middle Agessociety starting in the 10th century. Each aspect of monastic life

They hired many workers and managers to do the traditional labour of monks so
they could spend more time in prayer. Their devotion to prayer was a distinct
attribute of their monastic life which not only influenced their own spirituality but
other monasteries began following their ways. They are especially known for
embellished liturgy in richly ornate churches and having feasts. Although traditionally
they lived in poverty, Cluny abbey believed that through their wealth they could
worship God by presenting him with expensive gift which symbolise His kingship.
In their wealth they were extremely generous in giving donations to support the poor,
pilgrims and lay. By means of their wealth they developed a devoutness to Our Lord
and supported economic prosperity in the middle ages.
Cluny Abbey in its social, cultural, economic and spiritual exercise demonstrated an
evangelical task for the wellbeing of society during the middle ages. Their spirit of
service contributed to the good of society in many ways. By sharing their aestheticism
with the whole community the Abbey became an inspirational intermediary between
the mortal world and
