Ucf Admission Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of UCF admission is no small feat. It involves navigating
through a maze of personal experiences, academic achievements, and aspirations, all while trying
to strike a balance between authenticity and showcasing oneself in the best light. The difficulty
lies not only in articulating thoughts effectively but also in understanding the specific qualities
and values that the University of Central Florida looks for in its prospective students.
To begin with, there's the challenge of introspection – diving deep into one's own life to
extract meaningful anecdotes that highlight personal growth and resilience. The essay must not
only narrate a compelling story but also connect it seamlessly to academic and career goals,
demonstrating a clear alignment with what UCF has to offer. It requires a delicate dance
between self-promotion and humility, ensuring that the essay is persuasive without appearing
arrogant.
Researching UCF's values, programs, and community ethos is equally crucial. One must
meticulously tailor the essay to reflect a genuine interest in and understanding of what the
university stands for. The challenge is to strike a chord between expressing enthusiasm for UCF
and avoiding generic statements that could apply to any institution.
Moreover, there's the pressure of making the essay stand out in a sea of applications. Admissions
officers read countless essays, and the task is to create a memorable impression. This requires a
keen sense of storytelling, attention to detail, and the ability to convey one's uniqueness
effectively.
The writing process itself demands time and dedication. Drafts must be revised and refined to
perfection. The language should be clear, concise, and engaging. Striking the right tone is
essential – neither too formal nor too casual. Achieving this balance while adhering to word
limits adds an extra layer of complexity.
In the end, the difficulty lies not just in writing an essay but in encapsulating one's entire
academic and personal journey into a few pages. It is a challenge that demands self-reflection,
research, creativity, and the ability to articulate one's thoughts eloquently.
For those grappling with the complexity of such essays, assistance is available. Various
platforms, like HelpWriting.net, offer the service of crafting personalized and impactful essays
tailored to specific needs. These services can be a valuable resource for individuals seeking
support in navigating the intricate process of writing compelling admission essays and much
more.

What You Pawn I Will Redeem
One of the most important literary elements in every story is the use of setting. The
time and place of a story plays a key role in the readers understanding of the piece. In
some stories though, the setting is more important than in others. In the story, The
Appropriation of Cultures, by Percival Everett the story would have a much different
effect if the setting changed. In Sherman Alexie s story, What You Pawn I Will
Redeem, the setting could change in multiple ways and we would still be reading a
great story.
The Appropriation of Cultures, is a story based in the south about a man who takes it
upon himself to destroy the negative connotation of the Confederate flag to African
Americans. Slavery and racism have always been a much larger issue in the south
than in the north. The story tells us that Daniel, the main character, spent ... Show

The Appropriation of Cultures, is set in a time period where racism and
segregation were very high. When Daniel buys the truck from the white family
you see their confusion with him breaking through racism. Daniel said, I was just
lucky enough to find a truck with the black power flag already on it. (p.28) He is
referring to the Confederate flag as the black power flag and Travis and Barb are
shocked that he is not letting the negative connotation of the flag impact him.
Later in the story Daniel is being questioned about the flag on the back of his truck
by some white men, when a few young black men come to see what the problem is.
Daniel tells them that, They were admiring our flag. (p.29) The element of racism
and segregation is very important in the story and it wouldn t be the same had the
story been in a different time period. The story wouldn t have made sense had it
been before the Civil War because there would be no confederate flag to right about.
Setting is crucial to a story because the details of where and when make it
Tipping Point Research Paper
Many parts of our daily life revolve around social sciences and are caused by much
more research and in depth thought than we may originally realize. Innumerable
products, ideas, epidemics, and modern thought processes are the product of tipping
points. For any idea to gain enough ground to become popular to a large audience, it
has to have a very specific environment and the idea must be spread at very certain
times in history. There is a very precarious balance to making anything have the
ability to be prominent or sought after. Nature, political revolutions, and credibility
and popularity are all events and phenomena that have tipping points and relate to The

The credibility of a person depends on many different elements. Credibility can
pertain to trustworthiness and expertise. Trustworthiness is affected by things like
reliability and characteristics of the person. Expertise is affected by credentials
and proven skill (Flanagin, Metzger, 4). The same person may be perceived as
credible at one point in time, but may lack credibility later in time. Credibility is
largely based on what we as a society are experiencing during that time period.
Small things may affect credibility that we would not originally think to include. If
a person were to see an ad every day about a certain lawyer, they might think of the
lawyer if it comes a time for them to need a lawyer. But if someone were to hear
about how wonderful a certain lawyer is from a friend or coworker, that person
would be more likely to use that lawyer if the need arose. It stands to reason that
people are more likely to trust people they know blindly when it comes to
credibility. Appearance is another aspect of credibility that would not always be
considered. Much of the time it is subconscious, but people are more likely to trust a
person or service if the staff or spokesperson is attractive physically
The Restoration Of Grecian Philosophical Documents
The Preservation of Grecian Philosophical Documents Was an Important Islamic
Contribution to Western Civilization
Islamic preservation and translation of the Greek philosophical works of Aristotle,
and Plato contributed to the flourishing of Western civilization. Under the direction of
Islamic cultural patrons, they translated these vital texts from Greek into other
languages. Such actions were significantly contributive to the revival and
transmission of these pieces, bringing about their subsequent spread throughout
Europe. Centuries of Islamic scholarship like this were crucial to the eventual
emergence of the European Renaissance Period.
The anterior exposure of the Arab world to Greek philosophy follows paths reaching
back to the sixth century C.E. A common occurrence among Judaism, Christianity,
and Islam, were their interactions with Greek philosophy, and their attempts to
reconcile their religious dogmas with the Greek philosophical known truths of reason;
trying to marry faith with reason. Commonalities between their interactions produced
a naturally occurring process of sharing respective religious and philosophical
problems, and it is in the latter that Islamic philosophers deserve much credit from
Judaism and Christianity, for the Abbasid caliphate s deference to translation and
preservation of key Aristotelian (and other) works long lost to the West. The irony of
this sharing between religions remains that each was using the similar material to try
and prove
Persuasive Essay On Eternal Life
The word immortal is hardly heard by one another unless speaking about a fiction
movie or character. Immortal or immortality is defined as, eternal life or the ability to
live forever. In the film, The Immoratalist, directed by David Alvarado and Jason
Sussberg conduct a documentary. Containing two completely different individuals,
scientists, with the same goal and dream in mind, to find a way to prove that
immorality is possible and that it can be achieved in the next decades to come.
Although a very intriguing subject and amazing achievement to the humanrace if ever
discovered, I can not help to think, is immortalityas good as it sounds? The idea that
we can live for a longer or endless time is astonishing, but in reality that possibility
may not be as great as it sounds. If the people in the world had a method to become
immortal, the cost, population and ones mental health can be affected in a
negative way. As one become aware with age, the world unfortunately is moved by
money. The cost of everything in life is measured, and unless one is rich or
extremely well off, financial situations can always be an issue. Imagine how much
it is going to cost to find a method to become immortal, once discovered, like all
medicine, how much will it cost you to buy it and own it for yourself or a love one.
Modern medicine now in days is controlled federally and has become an enormously
business. With that being said who would be able to buy immortality? Surely not

My perspective conclusion Evolution of employee monitoring For many years,
organizations have engaged in many practices in order to monitor their employees

shopping and chatting. And almost one in five of the 576 employees questioned said
that they are receiving offensive e mail per month from a co worker. These are
another reasons why the employer considering to monitor their employee.
Techniques and practices of electronic monitoring range from recording and
reviewing emails, phone messages and internet browsing to tracking employee
attendance, interactions with customers and quality of work. Concerns about
electronic monitoring fluctuate between issues of stress and employee satisfaction,
these resulting from performance and productivity practices and infringement of
privacy rights within the workplace as a consequence of surveillance and tracking of
personal communications at work. There is still a need, however, for privacy in the
workplace. More than ever before, high performance workplaces in the knowledge
age need to provide workers with opportunities for both privacy and interaction.
Workplace Privacy and Employee Monitoring As technology advances, so do the
monitoring possibilities in the workplace; as a result these possibilities will raise the
privacy issue in the workplace. Nowadays, employers can monitor and track many
aspects of their employees jobs, especially on telephones, computer terminals, through
electronic and voice mail, and when employees are using the
Case Study Chick-Fil-A
Introduction This case study will analyze the findings of my research on the general
overview of Chick fil A from conception to future projections all while analyzing the
external environment , current strategies, and current objectives. Then I will detail
some strategies that I would recommend if I were the CEO and my reasoning. My
research will also detail the competitive strategies used by the company s main
competitors and how Chick fil A could combat these strategies.
Chick fil A the Beginning Facts and History of Chick fil A (2016), noted how
Chick fil A was founded by Truett Cathy in the early 1960 s, after Mr. Cathy had

Cathy was not one to follow others in fact his determination and vision led him to
open the first restaurant inside a mall in 1967 making him a first mover, by marketing
the idea of combining food and shopping (first mover, business dictionary). The first

food Chicken industries in the United States and led the way for many fast food
chains to follow.

The reason for choosing this article is because it discusses the relations between
international business partners America China and highlights their role as global
business organzaitions. The relation between China and America is a critical issue
these days for the International Chamber of Commerce or as called World Business
Organization and members of opposing parties are fighting for their interest. This
article also explains the business behaviour of these two business partners related to
exports, incomes and other activities that have impacted the business environment
globally.
The author highlights in this article the issue of China s trade imbalance.
According to author, the trade imbalance of China is now vanishing, which he has
proved by evidences. The initial paragraphs of the article explain how some policy
makers and economists of America blames China and holds it responsible for its
Trade Deficit (Trade and Forfaiting Review, 2012). Indeed Americans want to
Punish China for hooking the exchange rate to the dollar in 2005, in order to
subsidize exports, which resulted in big trade surplus that cost the jobs of America
(Wolverson and Alessi, 2011). America has many plans to

Rainforest Biome Ecosystem Analysis
The biome ecosystem of the rainforest is a wonderful place, full of animals, color,
and life. It has the largest diversity of living organism and plants on earth, with rich
biodiversity. The Rainforest supports about 50% of the plants and animal living on
earth. The rainforest is located in a tropical region. This allows them to receives lots
of sunlight, giving plants the energy they need and a wide variety of food for the
organisms. The rainforestprovides an abundance of sources of shelter, food, and

consequences to these actions; human are forgetting about the lives that lives in

another place to live, leaving the place they once called home. Human activities has
also caused climate change. This has huge effects on the rainforest. According to
the FAO s Global Forest Resource Assessment in 2015, forest destruction are
happening frequently. This causes damages to the quality of the forest decreasing
the chances of goods that are able to be produced. Human activities not only cause
harm to the animals and creatures that live there but also to their own health is in
danger. 250 different species of animals are found in the United states and Canada

Increasing Technology and Decreasing Media Credibility
Essay
As the power of technology grows, information has become not only easier to
spread, but has also become more generally accessible. Anyone who seeks news from
any part of the world can easily find it on the internet. Previously, the most common
form of information distribution was through newspapers, printed in large quantities
and sold for small fees. Now newspapers are having to make their way on to the
internet, printing less in favor for online subscriptions to digital copies of their
productions. This practice has caused a general shift from less physical productions
of media to more web based publications, as brought to attention by Ira H. Fuchs,
author of the article Prospects and Possibilities of the Digital Age. Also, the... Show

Within minutes of an event, details of what happened can be found readily
available from anywhere. Proponents of this, such as Newton, however, see that
having a completely online basis for information distribution has its draw backs.
For one, the general increase in newspapers requiring an online subscription in
order to operate is actually causing these newspapers to financially come into some
problems. Because many people are not so willing to pay to electronically read the
paper, many would rather seek out a source that remains free but also contains the
same information. In turn, the newspaper who sought to remain current has
essentially harmed itself with less sales in physical copies simply because they are
not being produced and also losing money by running a site for profit and not
receiving as many subscriptions. Eventually, with the decrease of physical
distribution there won t be free ources online and internet access will be required to
get much news at all, counteracting the good intentions of spreading information
through digital means. Other than issues with the spread of news, how the
information is acquired and subsequently presented in a written and visual sense is
also changing with a greater demand for freelance work and less full time paid staff.
For those who view this as an advantage, economically this can make a great deal of
sense. News sources pay a small amount for one specific piece
When A Child Comes Forward About An Occurrence Of
Child
When a child comes forward about an occurrence of child maltreatment they may
fear having to retell their sordid tale innumerably. With the advent of Child
Advocacy Centers this is no longer the truth. The first Child Advocacy Center
(CAC) was established in 1985 and served as a model for future CACs. The first
center established was the National Children s Advocacy Center and it was located in
Huntsville, Alabama. The primary goal of these centers is to limit the number of
times a child has to recount the events of maltreatment. Utilizing a multidisciplinary
team in a child friendly environment helps to create a safe, secure and comfortable
environment for children to disclose details about maltreatment they have been
exposed to.

When speaking with Nila Grahl, the manager of the Kenosha County Child
Advocacy Center (KCCAC), she shared that the main goal was to provide access
to a safe and supportive space for children to disclose information about abuse. This
goal is the reason that the center provides, legally sound forensic interviews of child
victims and special needs adults in accordance with research based practice (Sexual
Assault Response Team Kenosha County, 22, n.d.)The research based practice and
child centered environment created by the center leads them down a path to
successfully aide a child or family in need.
As noted previously the CAC model supports the use of multidisciplinary teams when
aiding a potential victim of maltreatment. The purpose of this is to, establish a
cohesive, coordinated system designed to minimize trauma to the child victim while
maximizing all evidence gathering efforts. (Sexual Assault Response Team Kenosha
County, 48, n.d.). As can be assumed being a victim of maltreatment or being
exposed to it can be detrimental for a child and create many insecurities. The
utilization of multidisciplinary teams is to help minimize further fear in these
children. These teams work closely together with a common interest, maximize
positive outcomes for the child s safety, physical, and emotional needs and for justice.

Stem Cell Research – Developing a Cross between

Ethics of Stem Cell Research Developing a Cross between Species
The idea of a chimera, a cross between species, has been around since the
mythological creatures of ancient Greece, such as the centaur (a man s torso with a
horses body) and the griffin (the wings, head, and claws of an eagle and the body of
a lion). Today, due to our advances in biotechnology, we are seeing this mythology
become a reality, but in a different respect. Human nonhuman animal chimeras are
being developed by injecting animal blastocysts with human embryonic stem cells.
The cells need to be injected at the right point in development, after the body plan of
the animal has formed and before the immune system develops. It is done at this time
to avoid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The chimeras could also provide more accurate animal models for research.
With all the good that may be on the way with the present findings, the ethical issues
and potential for abuse of this knowledge is both heavy on the heads of scientists. In
the 1998 article by Rick Weiss, the human animal chimera seems off limits, however
the research is now well underway. The article was published in the Washington Post
and shows how we have strayed from our original intent:
In an unusual move applauded by ethicists and government officials, the university
association holding patent rights to Thomson s cells said that anyone wishing to
work with the cells will have to sign an agreement promising not to use them to clone
an individual or to make a human animal chimera, a seamless cross species hybrid
that could, in theory, be made by injecting human stem cells into a developing embryo
of another species. (Weiss, 1998)
Other issues include the possibility of increasing the intelligence of the animal.
Determining what human like attributes the animal will develop is not easy to
determine. Cautionary measures should also be made to insure that we do not create
a slave race. Throughout history, humans have always used discriminatory factors to
generate a hierarchy, such as race, religion, or nationality. Another issue is that it may

There is plenty of data to support a move of NFL teams from Jacksonville to
Mexico City in many standpoints. In 2005, Mexico City hosted its first ever NFL

NFL record attendance of 103,467 spectators at max capacity in Azteca Stadium. In
2016, the NFL hosted a second game in Mexico City between the Oakland Raiders
and Houston Texans, resulting in another sold out crowd at the newly renovated

If you add the 8 home games that will be played at Azteca Stadium you will get an
annual income from the team s ticket pricing of $69,600,000 USD of revenue in
just ticket sales alone. Besides ticket revenue, and merchandising, about half of the
average team s revenue comes from broadcasting revenue, which includes revenue
from TV, radio and video games. In 2017, the NFL split a record $7.8 Billion of
national TV revenue amongst all 32 teams. That means each team received a
whopping $244 million. Another huge income for NFL teams is gameday revenue
such as food and drink. Beer concession prices range from $5 10 USD and hot dog
prices range from $3 6 USD. Although these prices may seem low, if each fan out
of 87 000 purchases 10 dollars worth of food and drink, that would be about 870
thousand dollars in stadium income in one game. According to Statista, the
Jacksonville Jaguars total 2016 team revenue was $377 million. The team revenue
has been slowly increasing since 2001, which proves the rising popularity of the
NFL, but Jacksonville s team revenue is still relatively low compared to other NFL
teams. The team s salary for the 2017 season is currently $162,068,653. With a
better revenue, it s possible the team would be able to raise their salary and
potentially sign better players. One thing that has to be checked on for the NFL
salary cap is the conversion rate between the US
The Average Life Of A Citizen Of Ancient Rome
The Average Life of a Citizen of Ancient Rome What was the average life like in
the ancient Roman empire? Living from 8 b.c. to 5 a.d. was very different from
today. Although we may not know many things about their lifestyle, we also know
a number of things of the average Roman s life. Although the life of each
individual differred vastly, life had similarities for everyone. The life of an
average Roman citizen, was in its own, a life, with not much true arguable
pleasures. However if taken right, could have been a life worth living. The rich
Romans had life good. They often lived outside the city, away from the smells and
noise. The beautiful houses you may see in the hills, Thats where they lived. To go
along with their commodities, they lived a life of extreme luxury and
extravagance. The rich had not only butlers, but maids and slaves, all of whom
catered to their masters every wish. This life of luxury wasn t just shorted there.
The rich had a much more broad and expansive and nutritional diet as well. This
diet consisted of not only fresh fruit, meat, fish and wheat products such as bread.
All of these were fresher than what could be afforded by the poor, as well as most
were not capable of having the offer of the meat the rich seemed to enjoy so much.
The rich often even enjoyed the sports that some couldn t afford. The life of luxury
that these people lived, was very, situationally accomodating. The things which
allowed them these luxuries, were not
The Superego In Regarding Henry
In the movie Regarding Henry, Henry is introduced as a rich lawyer who has a
reputation of winning cases. After going out to buy cigarettes, Henry is shot and
suffered a coma. He has a long recovery process to go through and this when his
outlook is completely flipped. Starting from the beginning, every decision he
makes is influenced primarily on his Id, but this all changes after he wakes up
from his coma. After awakening, Henry discovers that everything he did in his
past life was wrong and shows aspects of his superego by trying to right his wrongs
revealing that his natural state is really the superego. In many ways, Henry
demonstrates characteristics of the Id during the time before his coma. The scene in
which he discovers from one of his coworkers in a hotel room that he had been
having an affair shows the qualities of the Id such as selfishness and greed. In
addition, Henry s Id presents itself when he withheld information from the court.

After he wakes up from his coma, he solely demonstrates characteristics of the

conscience. Before his coma, however, his surroundings turned him into a bitter

unethical acts such as for cheating on his wife and withholding information in
court. In conclusion, Henry s coma helped open his eyes to bring out his Superego
rather than his Id. Before he got shot, he made choices based his own self interest
with no regard to others, but he later evolved to express empathy and began a new
life with a clean slate. This reveals Freud s theory of the mind in the sense that
human consciousness can be categorized as the Id which is based on the pleasure
principle or the Superego that operates on the moral principles. This applies to
everyday life in that society can always change how you think and interact with others

Argumentative Speech On The National Anthem
Malcolm Jenkins, safety for the Philadelphia Eagles, supported Kaepernick s
message but said, My grandfather served [in the military]. And this is a country that I
love. So, me not standing for the national anthem isn t really going to get me the
results that I want. Therefore, Athletes who refuse to stand for the national anthem
should receive a consequence. For instance, they should get fined or possibly
suspended for a few games.
Refusing to stand for the National Anthem shows disrespect to the flag members of
armed forces. For example, The national anthem pays respect to the people who
have risked their lives, been injured, or died defending the US. Without a doubt,
this is 100% true because why should someone be able to take a knee and
disrespect the flag when people risked their lives for us to be free. Yes, that s what
the flag represents but people should never bite the hand that feeds you.The writer
of the national anthem sated, it just blows my mind that somebody like

like everyone should pay their respects to everyone who fought for the flag. I

another way you can protest. That s not as disrespectful for instance, taking a knee
before or after the national anthem. Lastly, the New Orleans quarterback, supported
Kaepernick s message but disagreed with the delivery: It s and oxymoron that you re
sitting down, disrespecting that flag that has given you the freedom to speak out. As
this being stated I agree with the New Orleans Quarterback because, again there is
another way to protest and at least be smart about what you re doing.
Not standing for the national anthem is an ineffective and counterproductive way to
promote a cause. For instance, Football coach of Clemson University states I don t
think it s good to be a distraction to your team.. I don t think it s good to use your
team as the platform. With this being stated he s saying why be so worried about

All Men Created Equal Essay
All Men Created Equal
America has undergone incredible hardships as a nation. No issue has had more
impact on the development of the American definition of freedom than the issue of
slavery. Did the Constitution specify which men were created equal? Surprisingly
enough the phrase quot;all men are created equal with certain inalienable rights quot;
did not mean what it does today. The nation was divided on the issue of slavery and
the rights of the black man in its early stages as a growing republic. Abraham Lincoln
was a brave pioneer who dared to rub his hand against the grain of slavery bringing
the original ideals of America s founders to a new light. He was a man who felt he

They did not mean to say all were equal in color, size, intellect, moral developments,

This statement was perfectly logical. The Declaration goes on to state that the
quot;inalienable rights quot; that human beings have are the rights to quot;life,
liberty and the pursuit of happiness. quot; This was the idea which Abraham believed
was the
quot;standard maxim for free society. quot; Abraham even used a parallel from the
Bible.
quot; As your Father in Heaven is perfect, be ye also perfect. quot; This quote from
Matthew 5:48 was used to illustrate that God had set an impossible goal for us to
attain, and in the same way the framers of the Constitution and writers of the
Declaration of Independence gave mankind an endeavor to give equality to all
mankind. Douglas argued that the writers only meant to give the British citizens in
America equal rights to the British citizens then residing in Great
Britain. Douglas argument for this hypothesis was:
quot; they [the writers] referred to the white race alone, and not to the African, when
they declared all men to have been created equal quot;
It was terribly wrong because white did not necessarily mean British. Where did this
statement leave white immigrants from Germany and France who were not
necessarily British ? The Declaration was not meant as a mere statement of liberation
from Britain but as the basis of a
Dr. Erik Herzog s Talk Summary
I attended the What wakes us up: Networked Circadian Clocks in The Brain talk
by Dr. Erik Herzog from Washington University. The talk was extremely
interesting and helped me better understand the circadian system s in human s
behavior. The first fact that I think is extremely interesting is how our daily
rhythm is driven by a small part of the brain called suprachiasmatic nucleus. Our
brains are well designed and perfectly localized that each part of the brain
responsible for only specific function. However, since everything in the brain is
connected, the shift in one part can greatly affect the others. I have also learned that
neuroscience research is a broad field that involved interdisciplinarity from multiple
fields. To study how the circadian system in our body work, researchers from Dr.
Herzog s Laboratory has been using both in vitro, in vivo and behavior observing
techniques. At the beginning of the talk, it is interesting to see how the behavior of
the mouse changed when researcher removed the... Show more content on

Researchers used luciferase on fireflies to study this mechanism. The result showed
some significant results about how this clock gene affect behaviors. With enough
enzyme, researchers can repress the DNA at the clock gene and completely change
the behavior of any animal. The gene also provided some explanations for how light
exposure can change human s behaviors. From the talk, Dr. Herzog mentioned that
the VIP (vasoactive intestinal polypeptide) cells in the suprachiasmatic nucleus can
respond to light. Therefore, when the light shifts our daily behavior, it means that the
VIP cells must be activated somehow in the SCN. The activation of VIP results in a
chain of reactions inside the suprachiasmatic nucleus and cause a shift in circadian

The Abel Prize
The Abel Prize is to Mathematics, as what the Oscars are to the film. The Oscars is
an extraordinary event that highlights all of filmmakers/actresses and actors
achievements throughout the year. However, I am sure like many individuals you
re wondering what does this have to do with Mathematics? Well I am glad you are
pondering these queries. The purpose of this expository is to give you as the reader
some background on why the Oscars are so important, and how probability (statics)
plays a major role in the selection process
The very first Oscar awards were held on May 16, 1926. Instead of a huge event it
was just a small dinner, where only 15 awards were handed out and the entire award
ceremony lasted all of 15 minutes. This lasted until ... Show more content on

The voting process for the Oscars does have several flaws. The Oscars actually has
two types of voting systems. One process that is used is based on mathematical
practice (i.e. probability) to determine how each will be selected. Then, there is
another system where the votes are based on how you actually felt about the film. For
example, the entire voting committee consists of about 6,000 members with
various credentials in film. These groups are then broken down into smaller
groups of 17 or more. In groups where mathematics isn t valued each member is
encouraged to vote based on the way they felt about a certain film. Instead of using
a practical function. There is no right or wrong answers. There aren t even scoring
sheets, basically it is based on your hearts desires, which I find to be very flawed
for the simple fact that someone may not like a certain film because either they
cannot relate to the film or because it is not set to their standards . However, there
was a study done in 2015 that proved that Oscars can nominations and winners can
be determined based on mathematics. A Harvard student by the name of Ben
Zauzmer created a algorithm based on different factors. The algorithm actually
worked and he was able to predict 85% of the winners based on probability. How
this works is that he gathers data points from the past 20 years, and compares them
with the information from the current year to help give him a possible answer. I
am partial to this study; yes I believe mathematics does play a role in the selection.
However, I think we need to take a deep look at whom is one group from last year
(2015 2016) consisted of 17 members. Of those 17 individuals only 4 were
minority. Now for the purpose of this paper let s assume that this group uses the
second string voting system where it is emotional driven. Any film that does not
appeal to a certain group of individuals then the film doesn t have a fair chance to
Being A Varsity Cheerleader
Being a varsity cheerleader isn t always fun. Its great to hang with the girls and
cheer our team to victory, yet no one really sees behind the scenes. Anyone can be
a cheerleader, but, not everyone can a great cheerleader. As every freshman never
fails to display, there were countless times where I felt trapped within my body and
encompassed in self doubt. It has always taken me longer than the rest to grasp a
new routine or cheer. Took me about a full year to learn how to stunt and tumble. I
ve often felt that I was holding my team back from reaching its full potential by not
being at the skill level that many mastered in their elementary gymnastics days. I
found that drowning in my self pity only kept me at my current state: inadequate.
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Flash Media
1.Describe the characteristics of spinning and flash media along with the pros and
cons of each.
Spinning Media:
Spinning media stores large amounts of data and especially in olden days they used
for storing the data. Here they use the spinning disks and it came from the magnetic
disks. The storage capacity ranges from the gigabytes to the terabytes. They use
spinning disk and moving arm to read and write the data.
Spinning Hard drive is the basic nonvolatile storage and the data stored on it will not
go even the system is turned off and it is like the RAM.
Advantages:
If the data is lost it can be easily retrieved from the drives.
The drives can be easily detached and attached.
When compared to the solid state drives it is much cheaper. ... Show more content on

RAID 1 offers data storage in both the drives like data drive and mirror drive. If any
of the drive fails then the other drive will be used for data recovery and supports
continuous operations.
RAID 5 is the most secured level when compared to other levels. They use 3 drives
and can support up to 16. The Read transaction are much quicker than the write
operations because of the parity checks. It is mainly useful for all the systems and
they combine security mechanisms and efficient storage methods.
RAID 6 is similar to the RAID 5 and uses 4 main drives and can support 2 other

of the drives get failed but still they can access the data.
RAID 10 is a combination of both the RAID levels 1 and 0. In case of any drive gets

3) Explain cache and how it can benefit spinning media storage environments.
Cache is defined as storage mechanism used to store the data for faster access

Analysis Of Peter Pan
Discovering that every child has to grow up at some point of time is the main idea
or purpose behind the famous story of Peter Pan. Though there are different
versions of the story, each one generally has the same outcome. Analyzing two
different interpretations of Peter Pan , the Disney illusion and the original, by
James M. Barrie, it is to be learned that the Disney animation simply brings the story
to life, adds a different outlook on it as opposed to simple olden version. With new
color, animation and modern day thought the Disney story creates a different playing
of Peter Pan.
In Disney s version of Peter Pan , Disney left out many gruesome facts in their
version of the story. In the original Peter Peter by, James M. Barrie in 1904, Peter
was a young boy who lived amidst fairies and would escort dead children half of
the way to wherever they need to go. One night, Mrs. Darling sees Peter in the
nursery, contrast to the cartoon where the parents are not important characters, and
she is able to catch his shadow, roll it up, and hold it in a drawer so that she can
attempt to catch the boy. She barely remembers this boy from stories told when she
was younger. When Peter returns for his shadow when the parents are away, he
mistakenly awakes Wendy. He tells Wendy about Neverlandand the Lost Boys, who
happen to be young babies in which had fallen out of their carriages and were sadly
never found again. Wendy along with her brothers fly with Peter to Neverland,
History Of The Black People Of Canada
If you think that the Black Canadians were unified, well by the end of this I will
change your mind. This is one of the first reasons why, all of the Black Canadians
were promised to be given freedom if they would fight on the British side during
the war, but not all of them agreed to this order as nearly 3500 of them stayed to
fight war and the rest went to find a better path of escaping slavery, many of them
worked as labor workers, soldiers, pilots cooks etc. After the Canadian
Confederation took place, many of the Black Canadians were enticed by the
recruitment campaigns which led to Canada s prairie provinces. Because of all this,
the Black Canadians were divided into separate groups and sent off to different
prairie provinces, there were some of them in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba....

The Yellow Wallpaper Essay
This paper manages Charlotte Perkins Gilman s The Yellow Wallpaper, with
regard to interaction between gender and family appearance in the explorations of
space and home life at the turn of the most recent century. The general theoretical
structure will likewise consider Gilman s own particular viewpoints on changes
and her required another part of ladies in a market arranged society, as she
connects them in her various studies in human science and social history. The point
is to give an understanding of gender differences by considering the geographical
setting inside which they happen. Ladies have dependably battled for equivalent
rights with men for centuries. With the course of time ladies figured out how to
demonstrate they can be in the same class as men practically in all circles of life.
Because of the considerable number of endeavors and social movement, ladies
adjusted the assume sentiment towards themselves and accomplished noteworthy
results. In any case, it was only a few centuries back that ladies were in a totally
unique circumstance. In the nineteenth century, ladies were thought to be just for
marriage, however they didn t have any decision even in that circle. Most relational
unions were contracted with respect to budgetary points of view without binding
family. Here and there relational unions were only a decent deal of two heads of
family, and if men had the chance to pick, ladies must be quiet. Plus, they were
denied of any rights; they needed to
The Golden Touch Analysis
The allure of precious metals and the shimmer of precious stones versus the
blandness of the essential concepts of life: food, water and shelter, can be a
difficult choice for some people. The hypothetical line between what is a need
versus a want splits society tenfold, and is a major problem in world civilization
today. The choices humans make on a daily basis determine the futures of
thousands, so what are the choices in life that are driven by needs and wants? The
choices that define needs and wants are greed, the desire to pursue wealth, and the
desire to protect one s self. Firstly, The Golden Touch , by Nathaniel Hawthorne

legislative proposals to address the national gun problem. Some legislators point out
how effective regulations have been in other countries as well as in some states
(Zelizer 1). Clinton was one of the first presidents to successfully place through
regulations on guns. However, with one third of the United States population owning
guns, problems occurred. Clinton sent a letter to hunters urging them to support the
measure. As someone who had been hunting since he was twelve, Clinton wrote, I
know the difference between a firearm used for hunting and target shooting and a
weapon designed to kill people (Zelizer 4). Nevertheless, the gun control movement
finally passed through. Signed into law in September 1994, the legislation made it
illegal to manufacture, transfer or possess numerous categories of assault weapons
and established a ceiling on high capacity magazines (Zelizer 5). Even today in
2018, the gun control movement continues to grow with rising violence in the United
States. The positive news in 2018 is that there has been growing pressure from the
public for Congress to do something about guns. Polls show that a majority of the
country supports renewed restrictions on certain kinds of assault weapons. There are
also more states, such as Connecticut, with a proven track record showing that
regulations can work (Zelizer
Impeachment of Andrew Johnson
With the assassination of President Lincoln, the presidency fell upon an old fashioned
southerner named Andrew Johnson. Although an honest and honorable man, Andrew
Johnson was one of the most unfortunate Presidents. Over time there has been a
controversial debate as to whether Johnson deserved to be impeached, or if it was an
unconstitutional attempt by Congress to infringe upon the president s authority. The
impeachmentof Andrew Johnsonwas politically motivated. The spirit of the
Jacksonian democracy inspired Andrew Johnson. In 1857, Johnson was then elected
to represent Tennessee in the US Senate. While serving in the Senate, Johnson

According to the Republicans, this was a clear violation of the law. Around the same
time Johnson violated the Tenure of Office act by removing Stanton and not
receiving the Senate s approval. With these two violations committed by Johnson the
Judiciary Committee voted to submit a report recommending impeachment. 7
The House of Representatives drafted eleven articles of impeachment. The first eight
articles described specific actions by the President that violated the Tenure of Office
Act. The ninth article charged the President with trying to persuade an army officer
to violate the 1867 Army Appropriation Act. The tenth article charged that in
numerous public speeches the President deliberately tried to set aside the rightful
authority and powers of Congress by subjecting it to disgrace, ridicule, hatred,
contempt, and reproach. 8 The eleventh article charged the President with declaring
in a public speech that the Thirty Ninth Congress, as a Congress of only some of the
states, had no authority to exercise legislative power. Rumors of an armed conflict
between the President and Congress spread. Grant ordered the army garrison in
Washington to remain on alert for trouble and stationed extra troops at the War
Department building. 9
The expected clash never occurred however. On February 28, 1868, when the house
voted along strict party lines to impeach President Johnson, the
Jennifers Body Film Analysis
Feminist theories found in film is a constant reminder of why things need to
change and why there are such issues regarding gender and sexuality. These gender
and sexuality issues are constantly seen and analyzed in media and society as a
whole. The film Jennifer s Body stars Megan Fox, a famously known and extremely
sexualized/objectified actress. Jennifer s Body is a horror/black comedy filmwith
quite a lot of gore, sex, and attractive females in the cast. This portrays the feminist
film theoryideas discussed in class. As we talked about how most films are directed
toward a heterosexual white male viewing, this film is a pure example of that. It s a
horror movie with a lot of sexualized females, a good amount of violence and gore,
attractive... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The way she gets to these guys is by using her sexuality and basically seducing
them into being in a secluded place with her. As she is portrayed as a popular,
attractive girl, the demon causes her to eat males that are extremely below her
standards. Basically she is seen seducing (and then eating) guys who never would
have stood a chance with her before she was possessed. So the film portrays her
changing from flirting and being sexually seductive with attractive, hyper
masculine males and once she is possessed by a demon, she is seen being sexually
seductive with less attractive, less masculine males. This film heavily portrays the
feminist film theory that films are targeted and made for heterosexual male viewers.
Or in other words, to fulfill the male gaze. In Jennifer s Body, they clearly cast
extremely well known and objectified females for the female roles in this movie. The
film basically revolves around Megan Fox, who every guy in the film objectifies.
We see all the male characters objectifying and gazing at her, which proves that the
male gaze is prevalent throughout this film. Another thing worth noting, is the girl
girl sex scene, which seems to be portrayed in a way that is meant for heterosexual
male viewers. We see two extremely feminine, beautiful females who kiss in a way
that isn t portrayed as intimate, but rather portrayed as sexual. I believe that this
scene was added to the film in order to give more for heterosexual males to gaze
Relationship Between Science And Religion
Relationships between Science and Religion
The first relationship between science and religion in conflict. Science believes in the
constant growth of knowledge whereas religion holds on to ancient knowledge. New
knowledge gained through experiments and innovations is what enables science to
continue building on its existent knowledge. This brings about a situation whereby
science can question common assumptions, even within the religion. This case was
witnessed in the 17th century when Galileo came up with new inventions which
almost got him in trouble with the church. What Galileo was trying to prove was not
accepted by the Christian religion which was dominant in Italy. The fact that science
allows for innovation and constant quest to challenge existent knowledge is not a
thing that is taken easily in religion, this has brought some scholars to believe that
science and religion have been in a constant methodological, factual and philosophical
conflict. Thus, Galileo was a symbol of conflict between catholic church and modern
science. Another evidence of conflicting relationship between the two in 19th century
by Charles Darwin (Theory of evolution of species). He says the lively things on
earth got here over a period of years (natural selection). From beginning Christians
weren t troubled by Darwin, say God created all sciences. There were also biblically
literalistic Christians who says Darwin is wrong, they say God created everything
that exists. In 20th

Pros And Cons Of Financialization Of The US Economy
Some economists believe that every point gained in financialization leads to deeper
inequality, slower growth and higher unemployment, Mike Collins. The
financialization of the U.S. economy is a fiercely debated topic in regards to the
benefits or challenges it presents. Financialization is, the process by which financial

Whitman And Ralph Waldo Emerson
When talking about Ralph Waldo Emerson and Walt Whitman a similar question of
What came first the chicken or the egg? comes to mind. Scholars may argue that
without Emerson and his influential sermons and speeches that Walt Whitman would
have never found his voice, but how can someone who so many consider one of the
greatest poets of all time cease to exist? Ralph Waldo Emersonknew what he was
doing when he published The Poet. It was an outcry for the American people to speak
a truthful narrative about the human experience, warts and all. Ralph Waldo Emerson
was an influential author and speaker, so when he wrote The Poet, Walt Whitman
emerged and fulfilled his expectations after some hesitation from Emerson. Both
authors paved the way for countless other writers and played a huge role in
American culture and literature. While both authors have their respected writing
styles, Walt Whitman found his voice through Emerson s influence and responded
to his call for American poets to step forth and show the world a new era of poetry
and literature. Emerson had a specific idea of what poetry should be and although
Whitman answered the call, he went in a different direction with his works and
writing style. Poetry in light of European tradition was measured and fit strict
guidelines. It had strong religious roots and it was more formal than the types of
poetry we think of by today s standards and even Emerson s standards. European
literature was heavily influenced by

What causes Stress
Let s try to find out causes of stress in our lives. The biggest problem with us is that
we are out on a mission to change others. We are busy criticizing others, pinpointing
faults in others unnecessarily without focussing on ourselves. We wantothers to
become the way we want them to be. We believe this will give us happiness. But
actually this process gives us stress because we are unable to change others. Our
actions are guided by our expectations in return. And non fulfilment of expectations
from relationships is biggest cause of stress and disappointment these days.
As parents, we want to control our children. We want our children to pursue a career
of our choice. When our teen aged child wants to go out for party or movies, we are
the first one to lecture him. We want to influence him. And when our Children refuse
to mend their ways, we feel stressed.
We feel stressed in relationships because as a lover, either we want to influence our
partner or we want to please our partner. And either ways in all situations, whenever
we fail to achieve success, it causes immense stress.
After son s marriage, mother feels stressed. The reason is she fears she will lose
control over his son who had loved and followed her mother unconditionally for
nearly twenty five years.
The wife feels stressed because she feels that unless her mother in law stops
controlling her son, how she will influence her husband.

Formal Mathematical Methods And Hardware Systems
Literature Review Formal mathematical methods are system designs that utilize
specific rigorous mathematical models in the production of software and hardware
systems. The methods are unique in comparison with other methods for they utilize
mathematical proof as a complement to system testing so as to ensure a perfect
behavior. A formal approach to system designs ensures safety due to the complicated
nature of systems. The use of formal verification schemes creates the difference
between formal methods and other design systems. Hence, the primary principles of
the system must be proven to be right before they are adopted. Extensive testing has
been used for long in traditional system designs to ascertain behavior, but only finite
conclusions are achieved. Testing only reveals situations where a system would not
fail, but the behavior outside the testing scenario is not accounted for. If the result is
positive after testing the theorem, then it remains true. An error in design is
impossible to fix via formal verification but could help in identification of errors in
reasoning which would otherwise be left unverified. The knowledge of mathematics

Colton s Township Map Of Oregon Washington Territory
Colton s township map of Oregon Washington Territory, was issued by the Oregon
Railway and Navigation Company, and published in New York in 1880. This map
was created by G.W. C.B. Colton Company. George Woolworth Colton and his
brother Charles B. Colton were brought into the map business by their father,
Joseph Hutchins Colton, an American map and atlas publisher, who was active
between 1833 and 1897. Though J.H. Colton was neither a cartographer or an
engraver himself, he invested in the emerging market of railroad maps and
immigrant guides, which proved popular during the mid 1880s. G. W. Colton was
as a trained cartographer and engraver, who wanted to create a large and detailed
world atlas and establish himself firmly in the U.S.
Michelangelo1 Essay
Michelangelo1 Michelangelo is one of the greatest creators in the history of art. Most
people recognize the genius for his beautiful sculpture David and his breathtaking
paintings on the walls and ceiling of the Sistine chapel. However, along with his
sculptures and paintings, Michelangelo was an accomplished poet and architect;
which is a reflection of his amazing creative ability.
Michelangelo was born on March 6, 1475, in a small Italian city, Caprese, but he
spent a large portion of his life in Rome, Italy. It was there that Michelangelo created
one of the most famous works of art, the marble sculpture, Pieta. A controversially
youthful Mary is seated, holding the dead Christ across her lap. The mother holding
her dead ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, one characteristic of every Pieta, other than Michelango s, is the awkwardness
of the Mother and child; the artist solved this common problem by draping Mary in
long, flowing clothes and arranging the two bodies to form a pyramid. Michelangelo
has had many influential people persuade his works. Hibbard states that with the Pieta,
We sense the debt to [Michelangelo s] Early Renaissance forebears Verrocchio and
Jacopo della Quercia and of course this is still, chronologically a work of the
Quattrocento. Highly finished and polished, it shows a Quattrocento love of detail;
linear drapery folds pile up in ornamental abundance (46)
Two items are peculiar about the Michelangelo s Pieta, Mary s youthful face and
the artist s signature, which is found only on the Pieta. Common knowledge shows
that the artist gave Mary a youthful face because women retain their beauty longer
if they are virgins, and perhaps Michelangelo sensed his great accomplishment and
felt proud to chisel his name on the work; certainly, it was fitting for such an
immaculate work of art. The Pieta is considered untouchable by today s art world; a
work that will never be duplicated. Michelangelo s Pieta is one of the most notable
works of all time.
When Michelangelo moved back to Florence, Italy, the artist created one of his most
recognizable sculptures, the David. Unlike most works of David, which show the
young boy after his victory over
Design Of Floating Point Unit Core For Signal Processing...
Design of floating point unit core for signal processing applications
Abstract: Traditional computers data processing is limited by computer data input,
output, storage, display. Further computing needs repeated binary decimal
conversions. With the expansion of data intensive computing needs of distributed
computing, decimal computing of mass data is widely applied in banking, financial,
bio medical, astronomy, geography, signal processing, data acquisition and image
compression and other fields. Independent decimal floating point unit is becoming
important in these areas. A floating point unit is a part of a computer system specially
designed to carry out operations on floating point numbers. Floating point unit have
been implemented as a coprocessor rather than as an integrated unit in various
systems. Today s floating point arithmetic operations are very important in the design
of DSPs and application specific systems. As fixed point arithmetic logics are faster
and more area efficient, but sometimes it is desirable to implement calculation using
floating point numbers. In most of the digital signal processing applications addition
and multiplication is done frequently. This paper focuses on the techniques to design
a floating point unit which has faster rate of operations.
Introduction: A floating point unit is a functional block of a computer processor that
performs floating point arithmetic operations. Also known by the acronym FPU, a
floating point unit can be a

Ucf Admission Essay. Fascinating Ucf Application Essay Thatsnotus

  • 1. Ucf Admission Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of UCF admission is no small feat. It involves navigating through a maze of personal experiences, academic achievements, and aspirations, all while trying to strike a balance between authenticity and showcasing oneself in the best light. The difficulty lies not only in articulating thoughts effectively but also in understanding the specific qualities and values that the University of Central Florida looks for in its prospective students. To begin with, there's the challenge of introspection – diving deep into one's own life to extract meaningful anecdotes that highlight personal growth and resilience. The essay must not only narrate a compelling story but also connect it seamlessly to academic and career goals, demonstrating a clear alignment with what UCF has to offer. It requires a delicate dance between self-promotion and humility, ensuring that the essay is persuasive without appearing arrogant. Researching UCF's values, programs, and community ethos is equally crucial. One must meticulously tailor the essay to reflect a genuine interest in and understanding of what the university stands for. The challenge is to strike a chord between expressing enthusiasm for UCF and avoiding generic statements that could apply to any institution. Moreover, there's the pressure of making the essay stand out in a sea of applications. Admissions officers read countless essays, and the task is to create a memorable impression. This requires a keen sense of storytelling, attention to detail, and the ability to convey one's uniqueness effectively. The writing process itself demands time and dedication. Drafts must be revised and refined to perfection. The language should be clear, concise, and engaging. Striking the right tone is essential – neither too formal nor too casual. Achieving this balance while adhering to word limits adds an extra layer of complexity. In the end, the difficulty lies not just in writing an essay but in encapsulating one's entire academic and personal journey into a few pages. It is a challenge that demands self-reflection, research, creativity, and the ability to articulate one's thoughts eloquently. For those grappling with the complexity of such essays, assistance is available. Various platforms, like HelpWriting.net, offer the service of crafting personalized and impactful essays tailored to specific needs. These services can be a valuable resource for individuals seeking support in navigating the intricate process of writing compelling admission essays and much more. • 2. What You Pawn I Will Redeem One of the most important literary elements in every story is the use of setting. The time and place of a story plays a key role in the readers understanding of the piece. In some stories though, the setting is more important than in others. In the story, The Appropriation of Cultures, by Percival Everett the story would have a much different effect if the setting changed. In Sherman Alexie s story, What You Pawn I Will Redeem, the setting could change in multiple ways and we would still be reading a great story. The Appropriation of Cultures, is a story based in the south about a man who takes it upon himself to destroy the negative connotation of the Confederate flag to African Americans. Slavery and racism have always been a much larger issue in the south than in the north. The story tells us that Daniel, the main character, spent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Appropriation of Cultures, is set in a time period where racism and segregation were very high. When Daniel buys the truck from the white family you see their confusion with him breaking through racism. Daniel said, I was just lucky enough to find a truck with the black power flag already on it. (p.28) He is referring to the Confederate flag as the black power flag and Travis and Barb are shocked that he is not letting the negative connotation of the flag impact him. Later in the story Daniel is being questioned about the flag on the back of his truck by some white men, when a few young black men come to see what the problem is. Daniel tells them that, They were admiring our flag. (p.29) The element of racism and segregation is very important in the story and it wouldn t be the same had the story been in a different time period. The story wouldn t have made sense had it been before the Civil War because there would be no confederate flag to right about. Setting is crucial to a story because the details of where and when make it

Innumerable products, ideas, epidemics, and modern thought processes are the product of tipping points. Credibility can pertain to trustworthiness and expertise. Trustworthiness is affected by things like reliability and characteristics of the person. Expertise is affected by credentials and proven skill (Flanagin, Metzger, 4). The same person may be perceived as credible at one point in time, but may lack credibility later in time. Credibility is largely based on what we as a society are experiencing during that time period. Small things may affect credibility that we would not originally think to include. If a person were to see an ad every day about a certain lawyer, they might think of the lawyer if it comes a time for them to need a lawyer. But if someone were to hear about how wonderful a certain lawyer is from a friend or coworker, that person would be more likely to use that lawyer if the need arose. It stands to reason that people are more likely to trust people they know blindly when it comes to credibility. Appearance is another aspect of credibility that would not always be considered. Much of the time it is subconscious, but people are more likely to trust a person or service if the staff or spokesperson is attractive physically

The Restoration Of Grecian Philosophical Documents The Preservation of Grecian Philosophical Documents Was an Important Islamic Contribution to Western Civilization Islamic preservation and translation of the Greek philosophical works of Aristotle, and Plato contributed to the flourishing of Western civilization. Under the direction of Islamic cultural patrons, they translated these vital texts from Greek into other languages. Such actions were significantly contributive to the revival and transmission of these pieces, bringing about their subsequent spread throughout Europe. Centuries of Islamic scholarship like this were crucial to the eventual emergence of the European Renaissance Period. The anterior exposure of the Arab world to Greek philosophy follows paths reaching back to the sixth century C.E. A common occurrence among Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, were their interactions with Greek philosophy, and their attempts to reconcile their religious dogmas with the Greek philosophical known truths of reason; trying to marry faith with reason. Commonalities between their interactions produced a naturally occurring process of sharing respective religious and philosophical problems, and it is in the latter that Islamic philosophers deserve much credit from Judaism and Christianity, for the Abbasid caliphate s deference to translation and preservation of key Aristotelian (and other) works long lost to the West. The irony of this sharing between religions remains that each was using the similar material to try and prove

Within minutes of an event, details of what happened can be found readily available from anywhere. Proponents of this, such as Newton, however, see that having a completely online basis for information distribution has its draw backs. For one, the general increase in newspapers requiring an online subscription in order to operate is actually causing these newspapers to financially come into some problems. Because many people are not so willing to pay to electronically read the paper, many would rather seek out a source that remains free but also contains the same information. In turn, the newspaper who sought to remain current has essentially harmed itself with less sales in physical copies simply because they are not being produced and also losing money by running a site for profit and not receiving as many subscriptions. Eventually, with the decrease of physical distribution there won t be free ources online and internet access will be required to get much news at all, counteracting the good intentions of spreading information through digital means. In the 1998 article by Rick Weiss, the human animal chimera seems off limits, however the research is now well underway. The article was published in the Washington Post and shows how we have strayed from our original intent: In an unusual move applauded by ethicists and government officials, the university association holding patent rights to Thomson s cells said that anyone wishing to work with the cells will have to sign an agreement promising not to use them to clone an individual or to make a human animal chimera, a seamless cross species hybrid that could, in theory, be made by injecting human stem cells into a developing embryo of another species. (Weiss, 1998) Other issues include the possibility of increasing the intelligence of the animal. Determining what human like attributes the animal will develop is not easy to determine. Cautionary measures should also be made to insure that we do not create a slave race. Throughout history, humans have always used discriminatory factors to generate a hierarchy, such as race, religion, or nationality. Another issue is that it may

However, since everything in the brain is connected, the shift in one part can greatly affect the others. I have also learned that neuroscience research is a broad field that involved interdisciplinarity from multiple fields. From the talk, Dr. Herzog mentioned that the VIP (vasoactive intestinal polypeptide) cells in the suprachiasmatic nucleus can respond to light. Therefore, when the light shifts our daily behavior, it means that the VIP cells must be activated somehow in the SCN. The activation of VIP results in a chain of reactions inside the suprachiasmatic nucleus and cause a shift in circadian

The Oscars is an extraordinary event that highlights all of filmmakers/actresses and actors achievements throughout the year. However, I am sure like many individuals you re wondering what does this have to do with Mathematics? Well I am glad you are pondering these queries. The purpose of this expository is to give you as the reader some background on why the Oscars are so important, and how probability (statics) plays a major role in the selection process The very first Oscar awards were held on May 16, 1926. Instead of a huge event it was just a small dinner, where only 15 awards were handed out and the entire award ceremony lasted all of 15 minutes. This lasted until ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The voting process for the Oscars does have several flaws. The Oscars actually has two types of voting systems. One process that is used is based on mathematical practice (i.e. probability) to determine how each will be selected. Then, there is another system where the votes are based on how you actually felt about the film. For example, the entire voting committee consists of about 6,000 members with various credentials in film. These groups are then broken down into smaller groups of 17 or more. In groups where mathematics isn t valued each member is encouraged to vote based on the way they felt about a certain film. Instead of using a practical function. There is no right or wrong answers. There aren t even scoring sheets, basically it is based on your hearts desires, which I find to be very flawed for the simple fact that someone may not like a certain film because either they cannot relate to the film or because it is not set to their standards . However, there was a study done in 2015 that proved that Oscars can nominations and winners can be determined based on mathematics. A Harvard student by the name of Ben Zauzmer created a algorithm based on different factors. The algorithm actually worked and he was able to predict 85% of the winners based on probability. How this works is that he gathers data points from the past 20 years, and compares them with the information from the current year to help give him a possible answer. I am partial to this study; yes I believe mathematics does play a role in the selection. However, I think we need to take a deep look at whom is one group from last year (2015 2016) consisted of 17 members. Of those 17 individuals only 4 were minority. Now for the purpose of this paper let s assume that this group uses the second string voting system where it is emotional driven. Any film that does not appeal to a certain group of individuals then the film doesn t have a fair chance to

So the film portrays her changing from flirting and being sexually seductive with attractive, hyper masculine males and once she is possessed by a demon, she is seen being sexually seductive with less attractive, less masculine males. • 34. Relationship Between Science And Religion Relationships between Science and Religion The first relationship between science and religion in conflict. Science believes in the constant growth of knowledge whereas religion holds on to ancient knowledge. New knowledge gained through experiments and innovations is what enables science to continue building on its existent knowledge. This brings about a situation whereby science can question common assumptions, even within the religion. This case was witnessed in the 17th century when Galileo came up with new inventions which almost got him in trouble with the church. What Galileo was trying to prove was not accepted by the Christian religion which was dominant in Italy. The fact that science allows for innovation and constant quest to challenge existent knowledge is not a thing that is taken easily in religion, this has brought some scholars to believe that science and religion have been in a constant methodological, factual and philosophical conflict. Thus, Galileo was a symbol of conflict between catholic church and modern science. Another evidence of conflicting relationship between the two in 19th century by Charles Darwin (Theory of evolution of species). He says the lively things on earth got here over a period of years (natural selection). From beginning Christians weren t troubled by Darwin, say God created all sciences. There were also biblically literalistic Christians who says Darwin is wrong, they say God created everything that exists. In 20th

Formal Mathematical Methods And Hardware Systems Literature Review Formal mathematical methods are system designs that utilize specific rigorous mathematical models in the production of software and hardware systems. The methods are unique in comparison with other methods for they utilize mathematical proof as a complement to system testing so as to ensure a perfect behavior. A formal approach to system designs ensures safety due to the complicated nature of systems. The use of formal verification schemes creates the difference between formal methods and other design systems. Hence, the primary principles of the system must be proven to be right before they are adopted. Extensive testing has been used for long in traditional system designs to ascertain behavior, but only finite conclusions are achieved. Testing only reveals situations where a system would not fail, but the behavior outside the testing scenario is not accounted for. If the result is positive after testing the theorem, then it remains true. An error in design is impossible to fix via formal verification but could help in identification of errors in reasoning which would otherwise be left unverified. The knowledge of mathematics results from proofs that consist of valid and certain conclusions. Verification of mathematical statements is not through experiments or social agreements but logical deductions from basic assumptions. The method assures that the knowledge has universal application since mapping a mathematical statement into physical reality holds

Design of floating point unit core for signal processing applications Abstract: Traditional computers data processing is limited by computer data input, output, storage, display. Further computing needs repeated binary decimal conversions. With the expansion of data intensive computing needs of distributed computing, decimal computing of mass data is widely applied in banking, financial, bio medical, astronomy, geography, signal processing, data acquisition and image compression and other fields. Independent decimal floating point unit is becoming important in these areas. A floating point unit is a part of a computer system specially designed to carry out operations on floating point numbers. Floating point unit have been implemented as a coprocessor rather than as an integrated unit in various systems. Today s floating point arithmetic operations are very important in the design of DSPs and application specific systems. As fixed point arithmetic logics are faster and more area efficient, but sometimes it is desirable to implement calculation using floating point numbers. In most of the digital signal processing applications addition and multiplication is done frequently. This paper focuses on the techniques to design a floating point unit which has faster rate of operations.
