Apple iPods Changed the Way we Listen to Music
iPods have positively influenced the way people all over the world listen to and share music in the
blink of an eye. Since Apple introduced the first iPod in 2001, 350 million iPods have been sold as of
September 2012. That s enough iPods for every single person in the United States to have their own
device with twenty million still left over. Those are some pretty staggering numbers, considering more
iPods are sold every second.
The iPod has seven main parts: hard drive, battery, click wheel, display, microprocessor, video chip,
and audio chip. Older models of the iPod (with the click wheel) have a hard drive. On the inside of the
device, the hard drive is made up of platters, spindle motors, heads and head actuators. Platters are
little disks that are covered with a magnetic surface and then placed on a spindle. The disks have a
cobalt alloy substance applied to them which is placed on the platter by electroplating. Digital
information is stored on the disks and information is written on the disks by electromagnetic flux
through read write heads that change the polarization. As the platter rotates, the magnetic fields move
and the read write head senses electrical change between the moving magnetic fields.
The iPod has a small Liquid Crystal Display (more commonly known as an LCD). The molecules in
the liquid crystals in the screen go through multiple changes, one being the nematic phase. The twisted
nematic is manipulated when the electric current is applied to it.

A Short Note On Non Disclosure Agreement ( Nda )
4.708 International Business Law assignment1
Wang anqi 20142345
Summaries of non disclosure agreement
A non disclosure agreement (NDA), also known as a confidentiality agreement (CA), is a legitimate
contract between no less than two that frameworks secret material, learning, or information that the
parties wish to impart to each other for specific purposes, yet wish to limit access to or by outsiders. It
is an agreement through which the parties concur not to unveil information secured by the assertion. A
NDA makes a classified relationship between the parties to secure any sort of private and exclusive
information or prized formulas. In that capacity, a NDA remedies nonpublic business information.
(Non disclosure agreement, 2015)
Non disclosure is made under the will of the organizations and contracted between no less than two
parties. For the most part, parties comprise of a boss and a worker, however there could be more
unpredictable parties, for example, such as partners, subcontractors or even the Board of the company.
The context are connected changes from job to ensuring privacy of mergers and acquisitions, joint
endeavors and different business exchanges.
The most common and obvious is a non disclosure agreement. A non disclosure agreement, also
known as confidentiality agreement, confidential disclosure agreement, proprietary information
agreement, or secrecy agreement, is an agreement between an employer and a former employee that

The Election of 2000
The election of 2000 was the closest and most controversial election in all U.S. history. This event was
the fierce competition full of irregularities and unfairness between George W. Bush and Al Gore to
become the first president elected in the 21st century that turned into an intense political and legal
battle to decide the presidency. It was such an interesting and unique election because unlike how
elections are supposed to work, the election of 2000, for many unique reasons, did not end with a clear
winner. This event was not only an election, but a test of american democracy that challenged many
people s trust in the american court system, and left millions of americans asking the question, who
really won the election of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ralph Nader was a strong liberal and a radical environmentalist who ran on the Green Party ticket.
Nader took a significant amount of votes away from Gore which would prove to be very important
later on in the race. Pat Buchanan was ultra conservative candidate who ran on the reform party ticket.
He was predicted to take some votes away from Bush, but did not end up receiving many votes
partially due to health problems during his campaign. From near the beginning of the election many
people predicted it would be a close race, but no one could have imagined exactly how close this race
would come. Bush had the first lead that lasted until august 2000 when gore took the lead after the
democratic convention. The American people were split down the middle after Bush and Gore s three
televised votes. Bush took most of the south and west, while Gore took the northeast and California.
Gore, however, in a rare case, did not win his home state of Tennessee which if he had won, would
have secured him enough electoral votes to win the entire election. At the end of the voting it showed
that the popular vote was nearly tied, Gore beating bush by around 500,000 votes, only a 0.5% lead.
Bush had 47.9% of the popular vote and Gore had 48.4%. Ralph Nader had a successful campaign and
managed to win 2.7% of the popular vote while Pat Buchanan only won 0.4% of the votes. Gore had
won the popular vote by 500,000 votes but it didn t matter because in order to

Nursery Rhyme Analysis
The book, There were 10 in the bed and other counting nursery rhymes (Press, 2015) offers young
children in the foundation years of schooling an enjoyable way to practice counting using rhyme and
patterns as a tool for remembering the number sequences allowing them to learn how numbers are
used (Siemon, 2011) and was chosen because of its ascetic presentation along with the simple flow of
the rhyming words which make it a pleasant easy to follow book for a young audience to learn from.
The mathematical concept of counting is very clear in this book with all the nursery rhymes being
based on counting with all of them focused on counting. This book, There were 10 in the bed and
other counting nursery rhymes (Press, 2015) can be linked in with ... Show more content on

To start the lesson an introduction into counting to ten would be needed and would start with asking
the children if they know how to count to ten and to get them to count with you to ten in order to
demonstrate this ability. Once this has been satisfactorily accomplished the book (press,2015) would
then be introduced to the children and then read aloud to the whole class to enable the children to hear
the rhyme as a whole and to get a feel for how the rhyme flows rhythmically along with the wording
used. The rhyme would be read a few times depending on the students, how they are feeling about the
rhyme and if a few more repetitions are needed for the children to gain a good understanding of the
wording and flow of the rhyme. Once all students are capable of reciting the rhyme along with the
teacher and the book you can then move on to more activities such as creating a drama play from the
text depicting the ten children in the bed with them rolling over and having one child fall out while
reciting the rhyme as they go along following up by asking the children to explain why they think a
child kept falling out during the rhyme and did they think ten children was too many fit in the bed to
start with. This gives the children a chance to gain deeper understanding of the counting used as they

The Cosmic Prison
There are many things that seem to be complete opposites of each other, yet after looking in depth our
immediate conclusion appears to be wrong and the reality is they share many similarities. A popular
example of this is the comparison between humans and chimpanzees. At an initial glance, humans
seem so far superior to chimpanzees that the difference is at an astronomical level. The concepts,
ideas, societies, relationships, technological advances that humans have brought are incomparable to
what little chimpanzees have accomplished. Yet as scientists have studied and observed closely, they
have noted that in reality we are made of nearly the exact same genetic structure as the chimp, varying
in only a 1% difference. This miniscule 1% ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Cosmic Prison, Eiseley explains how man confines themselves to their current understanding
of their self and their environment, without even considering the possibility of a greater inconceivable
universe. Although Eiseley makes sure to suggest that the human brain could be physically limited to
this understanding, he explains how it is most likely by man s will alone. This is because man is
unwilling to accept that they may not understand, or may be wrong. They believe that they are right
and won t give into other ideas. Eiseley explains this by stating that [Man] could never, by any
conceivable stretch of the imagination, be aware that their so called universe was, in actuality, the
prowling body of a cat or the more time enduring body of a philosopher . We think of ourselves as the
only sentient part of the universe, some big significant species. Stephen Crane s poem, A Man Said to
the Universe , holds this same ideology. In this poem, Man exclaims to the universe Sir, I exist! This
exclamation shows Man s attempt to be recognized, but he is shot down and told of how insignificant
he is compared to the rest of the infinitely existing universe, but they cannot see this because of their
arrogance. All three of these examples display man s anthropocentrism, although in different
approaches. The next visible connection between these works, closely related to the previous, is how
puny and insignificant man really is. If one takes a moment to think about it,

The World War I, America
David Ibarra Ms. Knochenhauer APUSH Period 4 24 April 2015 APUSH Research Paper Following
World War I, America turned inward and began to focus on itself. Yet, coming home from war
Americans were also fearful of communism due to the recent Bolshevik Revolution where Lenin and
the Bolshevik party gained control of Russia and made it communist. This scare led to drastic changes
within our nation s borders as America fought to keep communist influence out of its borders. This
was such an impactful event that even the Attorney General of the time, A. Mitchell Palmer, set up a
section in the Justice Department to handle issues relating to radicals, this sect of the Justice
Department would be very active as, More than ten thousand people were arrested some for
membership in Communist or left wing groups, others on no greater pretext than that they looked or
sounded foreign and then jailed and interrogated with little regard for their right to due process
(Lehman, Phelps 260). This severe response to the scare of Communism demonstrates an inward
focusing of America. Similarly, in the post World War I time period America would demonstrate its
interest in nativism which it would demonstrate through multiple acts being passed on immigration
primarily, the Immigration Act of 1924. During this period of nativism, Through the whole movement,
from 1921 on, for more drastic curbs on the new immigration ran an increasingly assertive racial
nativism (Higham 313). That is America had

Summary Of A Couple Of Questions By Jordan
In June Jordan s poem A Couple of Questions She asks all of the questions that the main stream media
ignores. On A day to day basis almost no one thinks of the questions posed by her such as how many
Indians there were versus how many are left today; or the cost, socially and monetarily, of LAPD
police equipment used to stomp civil unrest. In this paper my main objective is to answer the question
of how much it costs to purchase the helicopter and armored vehicles used by the LAPD. The first
question to be answered, Is how much does one of the LAPDs armored vehicles cost. Research on the
number of armored vehicles owned by the LAPD was hard to uncover. However, I did find that the
LAPD uses Lenco BearCats ( LAPD Police Car Web Site ). According to AcronymFinder.com
BearCat stands for Ballistic Engineered Armored Response Counter Attack Truck. These Armored
vehicles can cost around $230,000 depending on the upgrades purchased (Schlueb). Not only does the
equipment they use carry a heavy monetary cost, but it also carries a heavy social cost. According to
an article written by Cheryl K. Chumley More than four of 10 respondents said they weren t confident

Explain What Is Wrong
Ashley Kelley Miss Roth H English pd. 4 24 March 2017 Is it Right? Is it Wrong? Morals and values
are the basis of all human decisions and knowledge. Every person s morals are different from one
another and can be used to define what is right and what is wrong in their own eyes. Values are used
as a personal translator that explains another person s behavior or beliefs to a different individual.
When people focus on both morals and values that have been set by them, they see everything with a
limited view, but take in more about what they learn. People create and set personal values and morals
based off of knowledge and understanding of the world and people around them, past experiences that
they themselves have gone through, and the personality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Experiences as children can shape people s brain and affect what is seen as right or wrong. Values are
acquired in childhood and manifest themselves in our campuses as permanent perceptions that shape
and influence the nature of our behaviors (Chmielewski n.p.). As a child, that person is still
developing and maturing both mentally and physically, so the values and morals the child learns are
applied to their lives and are held onto. In a world that is constantly growing and developing, it is
important for youths to hold onto morals taught to them in their childhood (George 4). Adults also
need to hold onto these morals to help youths to learn and grasp their own personal morals. Values
involve emotion, knowledge, thought, and ultimately choice and response ( The Factors of Personality
Traits n.p.). The knowledge that people gain is gained from experience and is taken in over time.
Interactions and experience can change and affect a person s development and beliefs ( The Factors of

Australian Tax Reform
Debt, Death Taxes
16th October 2002 Robert Camilleri
The Conservative government doctrine is essentially defined as the party of tax relief. But now
conservatives have converted themselves into the party of debt retirement. The conservative
government has lost interest in tax cutting and instead wants to devote the surplus tax payments and
asset sales over the next 3 years to paying down the national debt. The Howard Costello government,
seen as militant debt hawks, has announced their goal is to retire the entire national debt by 2005.
Has this government forgotten all of the economic and political lessons of the past 20 years? Take the
American experience of the Reagan Government, they used surpluses to cut marginal tax rates, ...

Parliament will spend the money, because it is in their nature. The debt hawks say, stash the surplus
money away so it s available for a rainy day. The truth is, for parliament; every day is a rainy day. The
Howard government real concern is that if they are sitting on this cash the public will be screaming
out for tax cuts, so repaying debt is a quick an easy way to take the focus off this get rid of the cash.
Tax reform is the smarter strategy rather than reducing the debt burden and it will grow the GDP
faster. A dollar devoted to reducing marginal tax rates or to reducing the tax penalty against saving and
investment will yield a higher return to the Australian economy, and thus to future generations, than a
dollar used for retiring debt
But even if we suspend our disbelief and assume that every surplus penny was used to buy down debt,
the economic benefit would be trivial. The primary argument in favour of debt reduction is that it will
relieve the burden from our children of having to pay off the debt in the future. But as long as we don t
add to the debt over the next decade through a return to deficit spending, the debt burden on the next
generation will fall automatically. It already is happening. Even without a penny of actual debt
retirement, the debt as a share of GDP will fall from 15% of GDP in the early 1990s, using the current
debt levels, to about 8% of GDP now. In

Vinyl Sidding Research Paper
A Few Things To Know Before You Install Vinyl Siding Vinyl siding has a lot of appeal with
homeowners because it requires very little maintenance. If you hate the thought of scraping peeling
paint and repainting your home every few years, then vinyl is probably the way to go. Vinyl has
advantages over wood, and as an added benefit, you can even install siding that looks just like wood,
so you get the benefits of both types of materials. Here are a few other things to know about vinyl
siding. Vinyl Expands And Contracts Vinyl expands in hot weather and contracts when it gets cold.
Because of this constant, slight movement, vinyl isn t nailed firmly to your house like wood siding is.
Instead, vinyl is hung loosely so it can move. For that reason, proper installation is essential. If you
install the siding yourself and attach the panels too tightly, there is a risk of the vinyl warping or ...

If you live next to a dirt road or factories, or if your house is under shade most of the day, you ll
probably need to wash it more often than if you live in a sunny, clean area. To keep your siding fresh,
all you have to do is wash it. You can use a power washer every year or so to wash away dirt and
mildew. If the buildup isn t too bad, you can probably clean your home with a garden hose and spray
attachment. You can use a vinyl cleaner, dish soap, or vinegar and a soft brush to get rid of stubborn
mildew stains if you don t have a power washer. If you have a damaged panel you want to repair, it s
easy to unhook it from the panels above and below it and replace the damaged panel with a new one
you buy from a home improvement store. Because your siding will slowly fade in color, you may not
find an exact match when you need a replacement panel. In that case, you can take a panel off a
hidden, bottom portion of your home to use in the repairs, and then put the new panel in the spot
where it won t be

Moral Law In Antigone
The play Antigone by Sophocles present different aspects of conflicts such as ... Social vs. moral laws
in the ancient cultures. The ability to follow the desired moral law brings various results and different
reactions from the society. Going against the law of Creon in the play brings consequences such as
being branded the name the traitor and facing punishment by the state. Similarly, in today s world
going against the law leads to serious effects and punishment by the state law. A good example is the
imprisonment of a couple in Florida for helping the homeless. Despite the state law however, I believe
that moral law should not be neglected especially if it serves humanity and only brings economic and

cultural values to bury and perform rituals when a person dies and this whereby he demands that

An Avid Bird Photographer Working Towards Marketing My Images
As an avid bird photographer working towards marketing my images, I spend hours scouting locations
and finding good opportunities to produce artistic images that showcase bird behavior and
characteristics. The difficult part about bird photography involves carefully approaching and
photographing subjects without causing unnecessary disturbance, while also creating a powerful
image. Contrary to popular belief, even with a long focal length lens, one must patiently wait or
carefully approach a bird with a low profile in order to make a quality image. Recently with wildlife
photography becoming a more popular and competitive field, individuals have been using ethically
questionable methods to produce high quality images. Methods such as baiting birds of prey and
mammalian predators, deliberately flushing birds for flight shots, approaching animals too closely, and
using flash when photographing nocturnal wildlife are being implemented to produce competitive

The stakeholders involved in this situation are wildlife photographers themselves, publications and

the wildlife and ecosystems themselves. It is important to understand the two general sides of the
issue. On one side are the wildlife photographers, the wildlife photography industry, publications, and
those viewing and promoting work. On the other side are conservationists, and the wildlife and
ecosystems themselves.

2008 Financial Crisis Analysis
The financial crisis of 2008/2009 was the most serious economic decline since 1929. This paper will
discuss a few of the causes of the crisis, the role the Federal Reserve played in connection with the
three main economic goals, and will then describe traditional and non traditional measures taken to
stimulate the economy. Finally, this essay will relate the government to our present day economic
environment and explain why some economists say that the United States is experiencing a new
normal.
The economic and financial crisis of 2008/2009 can be attributed to many things. The main reason for
the crisis can be attributed to the housing industry and the mortgages associated. When individuals

This caused lenders to reduce their standards, giving loans to those who had poor credit and low
income. Predatory lending practices were also used, giving out loans without verifying income.
Additionally, adjustable rate mortgages were offered, which offered payment homeowners could
manage to pay for at first, but expanded beyond what they could continue to pay for. Since these
practices were new, historical data showed that mortgage debt was a safe investment. Investors
continued to dump money into these investments while realistically, these investments were becoming
more risky. (Wallison)
Due to all the investments being made, careless lending requirements, and low interest rates within the
real estate market, housing prices continued to increase. Finally, borrowers started defaulting on these
loans, putting more houses on the market. However, there were not many buyers. Housing prices
began to fall since supply was up and demand was down. Often, mortgages became worth more than
their house was worth. By 2007, large lenders were declaring bankruptcy. They had invested large
amounts of money into the Mortgage Backed Securities and were losing money on these investments.

Study Hall Advantages
Study Hall, not an hallway where you study.Implanting study hall at Von as an elective would bring

According to a teacher, lunch is more versatile to students because there s nothing expected of them.

It was the same woman that spoke with Anna Greenfield last time. The woman smiled at him and

Blind Faith in Cat s Cradle, by Kurt Vonnegut
In current society, critical thinking can be sparse. It is unusual that people question the traditions they
have grown up with. Although this ignorance can be safe and simple, its outcome is ultimately
problematic. In the satire Cat s Cradle, Kurt Vonnegut proves that undiscerning belief in anything will
inevitably end in tragedy. Vonnegut demonstrates this using sensitive topics such as Science and
Religion.
In the present day, society depends on Science greatly; it supplies jobs, provides technology capable of
saving lives, and furthers our society in many positive ways. However, society often misses the
negative aspects of Science. Vonnegut identifies many problems with the general perspective on

Sigmund Freud And The Interpretation Of Dreams
Before the chaos of the first worldwide conflict, the Great War, psychologists were looking deeper
into the human mind trying to find the hidden meaning of dreams. Deeper meaning began to creep its
way into both literature and art with both types of creators trying to convey meaning that is more than
meets the eye in their works. Symbolism became a popular movement with the increased interest in
psychology by those such as the famous psychologist, Sigmund Freud. This interest continued to raise
through the years following the Great War especially in the country most blamed for the war,
Germany. This blame and instability of the country fueled the expressionist movement making the
work created during this time emotional and cynical towards their situation. Through these events and
advancements in psychology works such as The Apparition by Gustave Moreau and The Scream by
Edvard Munch were created.
Sigmund Freud is well known for his interest in the human mind. In Freud s novel The Interpretation
of Dreams, published in 1913, explores the deeper meaning behind everyday life. His book explores
various meanings of common types of dreams, theories on how dreams relate to everyday life, and
two types of dreams: wish fulfilment dreams and distortion dreams. These types of dreams are simply
put good dreams vs nightmares. Sigmund Freud believed dreams were caused by a person s
experiences in waking life, fears, wishes, their unconscious and consciousness. Sigmund Freud

Morality and Happiness
Morality has been a term of debate for several years by intellectuals who have not come to the final
conclusion of its definition. According to Damon (5), morality is an existing, multifaceted construct
that may not be pinned down by any single definitional criteria which is flexible. The moral character
has long been associated with happiness which is that state of having achieved one s desires although
there are some disconnections. Several theories have been forwarded in connection to morality and
happiness as far as the society is concerned. In this argumentative paper we shall give detailed
analysis of morality and happiness and whether or not moral character is a requirement to happiness.

An example is if we go out to have fun with friends we will end up being happy in the long term
(Delattre 137). Thus it becomes a requirement that good moral character be observed always in order
to gain a long term happiness without any struggle.
Moreover, the morality, good character and happiness cannot be separated from one another. This is
because to a huge extent we tend to offer as the best individuals to our families, friend and colleagues
who are the source of our happiness. Therefore there is an understanding that we can enjoy their
company when we offer our best morals and support. With this understanding, we realize that a good
moral character is a requirement to true happiness irrespective of the people we are dealing with. This
understanding enables individuals to realize and prevent any moral deviation so as to maintain
happiness with all persons (Delattre 137).
According to the philosophy of happiness (14, 15, 16 amp; 17), Aristotle stated the factors that make
happiness as good health, money, relationships and good moral behavior. Aristotle pointed out that
happiness was the ultimate desire for human being leaving nothing more to be desired. The happiness
is sought for its own sake unlike other things which are sought in order to achieve happiness. Aristotle
understood that for an individual to be happy one must be of good morals and can suffer to achieve the
greater happiness later in the long run. Many individuals believe that

Modifications and accommodation are incorporated into the IEP student. Accommodations and
modifications affect different aspects of assessments for special needs students. Accommodations
makes provisions for the students to take the same test as students that have no disability such as

Accommodation can be seen as early as Pre School or in college. The accommodations follow the

taking a timed test. He does not need the test changed, however, he needs more time to complete the
test. The teacher noticed this issue while grading his previous test.

How Relief And Slope Gradient Influence The Soil Properties
This literature review focuses on research regarding how relief and slope gradient influence the soil
properties. This is a topic of great interest amongst geographers and Geologists alike, as slight changes
within soil structures, characterisation, and soil composition will alter the soil system and its stability.
The study of Relief in regards to soils is key in soil study as it will have the most outstanding impact
on changes in landscapes and may potentially have detrimental impacts in societies; from an economic
view of soil fertility and crop harvesting, to socio economic standpoints of hazards regarding mass

The soil system is connected, one giant unit. So slight changes to one component will have knock on
effects, altering the entire formation and characterisation of the soil.
Soil properties and characteristics tend to show great geographical correlation with climate which is
seen on a global scale. The parent material is the initial state of the soil system allows the choice of
either rock or weathered rock as the starting point. (Jenny H., 1941) it could be a form of rock that has
been broken down in situ, or another inorganic material like regolith that s been deposited by ice,
water or wind. The physical and chemical makeup of the original, parent material plays a significant
role in determining the soil s properties during the early days of formation. The physical and chemical
reaction of the parent material which are needed to break down to the material are strongly influenced
by the energy and precipitation in the local area. Vegetation cover is vital in regards to observing soil
properties and relief, and its presence is also dependant and determined on the local climates. It s
vegetation cover that does the locking of the soil particles reducing cases of mass wasting and keeping
more porous soils locked together when situated on slopes and steep gradients. It s also responsible

beauty of the woman as objects and screen space coalesce; she is no longer the bearer of guilty but a
perfect product, whose body, stylized and fragmented by close ups, is the content of the film and the
direct recipient of the spectator s look, (Mulvey, 2006, p. 349). The idea of a women being able to stay

Graves Disease Research Paper
Graves Disease
Graves disease is a precursor to hyperthyroidism. Named after the man who first discovered the
condition, Robert Graves, this disease shares many immunologic features with autoimmune
hypothyroidism (17). The most common symptoms that come with this disease are weight loss,
fatigue, nervousness, and irregular heartbeats. This particular condition can be affected by a person s
age. Statistics show that the severity of different symptoms can increase as a person diagnosed with
Graves disease grows older. This condition also makes people more susceptible to other autoimmune
diseases and women who are diagnosed with Graves disease should refrain from becoming pregnant

of goiter are simple goiter and toxic nodular goiter. Simple goiter can develop for no apparent reason.
Women seem to be more susceptible to developing this form of goiter. Other causes may also be lack
of iodine intake. Many times, when there are large numbers of people in a population who develop
simple goiters, the reason could very well be that the natural environment in which they reside may be
lacking in iodine. A person s chances of developing this condition may also increase when a person

The B707 was the first aircraft developed by Boeing in 1958, it is a narrow body , mid size and a four

produced in 2007 , it is a long range , wide body , twin turbo fan engine ( GEnx or Rolls Royce )
aircraft . Passenger s seat varies from 242 335 dependant on the series of the aircraft. Of course both
aircrafts varies from the internal structures ,but almost the same design for the outer structure (body

First, the theme love, is focused a lot more in the film Rear Window than in the short story It had to be

Symbolism In The Giving Tree By Shel Silverstein
The act of unconditional giving is held in high regards by many cultures as the highest form of love.
From birth on, parents are there for all the ups and downs in their child s life. Shel Silverstein, author
of The Giving Tree, has written a story about the representation of the relationship between a mother
and child. In the The Giving Tree, children are welcomed to realize the effects their mother has on
their life that one seems to fail to appreciate as they adventure throughout life. Silverstein uses
symbolism to emphasize that throughout all stages of life no matter how old, busy, or tired one is, a
mom will always be willing to give them unconditional love even when she has nothing else to offer.

In The Giving Tree, much later in life, the boy, now quite old, returns to the tree one last time. Though
alone and enfeebled, he is still wanting for a place to sit and rest. Yet again, the tree lovingly obliges:
straightening up her much diminished self, she invites him to sit on her stump. No matter where life
takes a person at the end of the day a mother will always be there for companionship to ward off the
loneliness even when she has nothing left to give a child. Even through all the years of children
continuously taking from their mother, she would still always want to keep giving because what
mother does not want to see her child succeed and be ultimately happy? Like all good mothers, the
tree is no doubt happy to know that she could help when needed. However more importantly, like the
ideal mother she is, the tree seems to understand both the character and limits of her own motherly
powers. She knows the very sensibilities she so carefully encouraged when the boy was young would
one day cause him to want a life of his own. She knows she must understand and accept the choices
the boy makes even when they seem unwise and misguided. She knows she cannot predict or arrange

  • 2. Apple iPods Changed the Way we Listen to Music iPods have positively influenced the way people all over the world listen to and share music in the blink of an eye. Since Apple introduced the first iPod in 2001, 350 million iPods have been sold as of September 2012. That s enough iPods for every single person in the United States to have their own device with twenty million still left over. Those are some pretty staggering numbers, considering more iPods are sold every second. The iPod has seven main parts: hard drive, battery, click wheel, display, microprocessor, video chip, and audio chip. Older models of the iPod (with the click wheel) have a hard drive. On the inside of the device, the hard drive is made up of platters, spindle motors, heads and head actuators. Platters are little disks that are covered with a magnetic surface and then placed on a spindle. The disks have a cobalt alloy substance applied to them which is placed on the platter by electroplating. Digital information is stored on the disks and information is written on the disks by electromagnetic flux through read write heads that change the polarization. As the platter rotates, the magnetic fields move and the read write head senses electrical change between the moving magnetic fields. The iPod has a small Liquid Crystal Display (more commonly known as an LCD). The molecules in the liquid crystals in the screen go through multiple changes, one being the nematic phase. The twisted nematic is manipulated when the electric current is applied to it. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Election of 2000 The election of 2000 was the closest and most controversial election in all U.S. history. This event was the fierce competition full of irregularities and unfairness between George W. Bush and Al Gore to become the first president elected in the 21st century that turned into an intense political and legal battle to decide the presidency. It was such an interesting and unique election because unlike how elections are supposed to work, the election of 2000, for many unique reasons, did not end with a clear winner. This event was not only an election, but a test of american democracy that challenged many people s trust in the american court system, and left millions of americans asking the question, who really won the election of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ralph Nader was a strong liberal and a radical environmentalist who ran on the Green Party ticket. Nader took a significant amount of votes away from Gore which would prove to be very important later on in the race. Pat Buchanan was ultra conservative candidate who ran on the reform party ticket. He was predicted to take some votes away from Bush, but did not end up receiving many votes partially due to health problems during his campaign. From near the beginning of the election many people predicted it would be a close race, but no one could have imagined exactly how close this race would come. Bush had the first lead that lasted until august 2000 when gore took the lead after the democratic convention. The American people were split down the middle after Bush and Gore s three televised votes. Bush took most of the south and west, while Gore took the northeast and California. Gore, however, in a rare case, did not win his home state of Tennessee which if he had won, would have secured him enough electoral votes to win the entire election. At the end of the voting it showed that the popular vote was nearly tied, Gore beating bush by around 500,000 votes, only a 0.5% lead. Bush had 47.9% of the popular vote and Gore had 48.4%. Nursery Rhyme Analysis The book, There were 10 in the bed and other counting nursery rhymes (Press, 2015) offers young children in the foundation years of schooling an enjoyable way to practice counting using rhyme and patterns as a tool for remembering the number sequences allowing them to learn how numbers are used (Siemon, 2011) and was chosen because of its ascetic presentation along with the simple flow of the rhyming words which make it a pleasant easy to follow book for a young audience to learn from. To start the lesson an introduction into counting to ten would be needed and would start with asking the children if they know how to count to ten and to get them to count with you to ten in order to demonstrate this ability. Once this has been satisfactorily accomplished the book (press,2015) would then be introduced to the children and then read aloud to the whole class to enable the children to hear the rhyme as a whole and to get a feel for how the rhyme flows rhythmically along with the wording used. The rhyme would be read a few times depending on the students, how they are feeling about the rhyme and if a few more repetitions are needed for the children to gain a good understanding of the wording and flow of the rhyme. Once all students are capable of reciting the rhyme along with the teacher and the book you can then move on to more activities such as creating a drama play from the text depicting the ten children in the bed with them rolling over and having one child fall out while reciting the rhyme as they go along following up by asking the children to explain why they think a child kept falling out during the rhyme and did they think ten children was too many fit in the bed to start with. The Cosmic Prison There are many things that seem to be complete opposites of each other, yet after looking in depth our immediate conclusion appears to be wrong and the reality is they share many similarities. A popular example of this is the comparison between humans and chimpanzees. At an initial glance, humans seem so far superior to chimpanzees that the difference is at an astronomical level. The concepts, ideas, societies, relationships, technological advances that humans have brought are incomparable to what little chimpanzees have accomplished. Yet as scientists have studied and observed closely, they have noted that in reality we are made of nearly the exact same genetic structure as the chimp, varying in only a 1% difference. In The Cosmic Prison, Eiseley explains how man confines themselves to their current understanding of their self and their environment, without even considering the possibility of a greater inconceivable universe. Although Eiseley makes sure to suggest that the human brain could be physically limited to this understanding, he explains how it is most likely by man s will alone. This is because man is unwilling to accept that they may not understand, or may be wrong. They believe that they are right and won t give into other ideas. Eiseley explains this by stating that [Man] could never, by any conceivable stretch of the imagination, be aware that their so called universe was, in actuality, the prowling body of a cat or the more time enduring body of a philosopher . We think of ourselves as the only sentient part of the universe, some big significant species. Stephen Crane s poem, A Man Said to the Universe , holds this same ideology. In this poem, Man exclaims to the universe Sir, I exist! This exclamation shows Man s attempt to be recognized, but he is shot down and told of how insignificant he is compared to the rest of the infinitely existing universe, but they cannot see this because of their arrogance. All three of these examples display man s anthropocentrism, although in different approaches. The next visible connection between these works, closely related to the previous, is how puny and insignificant man really is. If one takes a moment to think about it, ... • 7. The World War I, America David Ibarra Ms. Knochenhauer APUSH Period 4 24 April 2015 APUSH Research Paper Following World War I, America turned inward and began to focus on itself. Yet, coming home from war Americans were also fearful of communism due to the recent Bolshevik Revolution where Lenin and the Bolshevik party gained control of Russia and made it communist. This scare led to drastic changes within our nation s borders as America fought to keep communist influence out of its borders. This was such an impactful event that even the Attorney General of the time, A. Mitchell Palmer, set up a section in the Justice Department to handle issues relating to radicals, this sect of the Justice Department would be very active as, More than ten thousand people were arrested some for membership in Communist or left wing groups, others on no greater pretext than that they looked or sounded foreign and then jailed and interrogated with little regard for their right to due process (Lehman, Phelps 260). This severe response to the scare of Communism demonstrates an inward focusing of America. Similarly, in the post World War I time period America would demonstrate its interest in nativism which it would demonstrate through multiple acts being passed on immigration primarily, the Immigration Act of 1924. During this period of nativism, Through the whole movement, from 1921 on, for more drastic curbs on the new immigration ran an increasingly assertive racial nativism (Higham 313). Tax reform is the smarter strategy rather than reducing the debt burden and it will grow the GDP faster. Papa tells John that he and Frank must lead San Lorenzo because they have knowledge about science and science is magic that works (Vonnegut 218). Rather than choosing the most kind or wise successor, Papa chooses Science above all else. He blindly sees Science as a good thing and he believes it will bring salvation to his people. Sigmund Freud And The Interpretation Of Dreams Before the chaos of the first worldwide conflict, the Great War, psychologists were looking deeper into the human mind trying to find the hidden meaning of dreams. Deeper meaning began to creep its way into both literature and art with both types of creators trying to convey meaning that is more than meets the eye in their works. Symbolism became a popular movement with the increased interest in psychology by those such as the famous psychologist, Sigmund Freud. This interest continued to raise through the years following the Great War especially in the country most blamed for the war, Germany. This blame and instability of the country fueled the expressionist movement making the work created during this time emotional and cynical towards their situation. Through these events and advancements in psychology works such as The Apparition by Gustave Moreau and The Scream by Edvard Munch were created. Sigmund Freud is well known for his interest in the human mind. In Freud s novel The Interpretation of Dreams, published in 1913, explores the deeper meaning behind everyday life. His book explores various meanings of common types of dreams, theories on how dreams relate to everyday life, and two types of dreams: wish fulfilment dreams and distortion dreams. Thus it becomes a requirement that good moral character be observed always in order to gain a long term happiness without any struggle. Moreover, the morality, good character and happiness cannot be separated from one another. This is because to a huge extent we tend to offer as the best individuals to our families, friend and colleagues who are the source of our happiness. Therefore there is an understanding that we can enjoy their company when we offer our best morals and support. With this understanding, we realize that a good moral character is a requirement to true happiness irrespective of the people we are dealing with. This understanding enables individuals to realize and prevent any moral deviation so as to maintain happiness with all persons (Delattre 137). According to the philosophy of happiness (14, 15, 16 amp; 17), Aristotle stated the factors that make happiness as good health, money, relationships and good moral behavior. Aristotle pointed out that happiness was the ultimate desire for human being leaving nothing more to be desired. The happiness is sought for its own sake unlike other things which are sought in order to achieve happiness. Aristotle understood that for an individual to be happy one must be of good morals and can suffer to achieve the greater happiness later in the long run. Many individuals believe that ...
