1. What Is A Critical Analysis Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "What Is A Critical Analysis Essay" can be challenging,
especially if you're tasked with explaining the concept in depth while also providing examples
and analysis. Firstly, defining what a critical analysis essay entails requires a comprehensive
understanding of the term "critical analysis" itself. It involves evaluating and interpreting a text,
image, or event by scrutinizing its components, identifying its strengths and weaknesses, and
assessing its overall effectiveness or significance.
To craft a compelling essay, one must delve into the nuances of critical analysis, exploring its
various approaches and methodologies. This may involve discussing different schools of thought
such as structuralism, post-structuralism, feminism, Marxism, etc., and how they inform the
analytical process. Additionally, incorporating examples to illustrate the application of critical
analysis in different contexts—literature, film, art, politics, etc.—can enrich the discussion
and provide clarity to the reader.
Furthermore, a critical analysis essay demands a strong thesis statement that guides the entire
argument and serves as a focal point for analysis. Developing a coherent argument requires
meticulous planning and organization to ensure that each paragraph contributes to the
overarching thesis while maintaining logical flow and coherence throughout the essay.
Moreover, conducting thorough research to support the analysis with credible sources is crucial.
This involves not only finding relevant academic articles and scholarly texts but also critically
evaluating their credibility and relevance to the topic at hand.
Lastly, effective communication of ideas is essential in any essay, but particularly in a critical
analysis where clarity and precision are paramount. This requires careful attention to language,
structure, and tone to convey complex ideas in a clear and accessible manner while also
demonstrating intellectual rigor and sophistication.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "What Is A Critical Analysis Essay" is a
multifaceted task that demands a deep understanding of the concept, adept critical thinking
skills, meticulous research, and effective communication abilities.

2. Old Major In George Orwell s Animal Farm
Old Major is considered major on the farm. He speaks with wisdom and reminds
the other animals. Old Major is so highly regarded on the farm that everyone was
quite ready to lose sleep to hear what he has to say (4). Everyone listens
respectfully to what old Major has to say no matter where they are sitting in the
barn. During old Major s speech he talks about how the lives of all the animalsare
miserable, laborious, and short. Old Major is showing how these animals are over
worked and are not getting enough food or sleep to have enough strength when
working. If these animals do not have strength then how will they help the farm?
They won t, instead they go against Mr. Jones and work towards their own farm
without humans controlling them. Old Major hates humans. He says, whatever goes

When they are establishing the rules for Animalism they also talk about the
rebellion old Major predicted prior to his death. This rebellion was to get away
from Mr. Jones and to prevent a human controlling them. Without Mr. Jones they
will have an animal as their leader, so they know what to do. That leader turns out
to be Napoleon. He teaches them to act like humans by the end, which is exactly
what old Major did not want to happen. Most animals wear clothes and walk on
two legs. Napoleon even carries a whip around. These animals did not follow old
Major s teachings and instead follow whatever Napoleon says since he is the leader
that takes over after old Major. By the end instead of all the animals saying, All
animals are equal. The saying is changed to All animals are equal, but some are more
equal than others , meaning not all animals have the same value on the
3. Free Speech As A Form Of Hate Speech
One of the greatest controversies when deciding the rules that a university should
have is whether to prohibit hate speech, or ignore it under the constitution as a form
of free speech. In this paper, I will consider the disturbance that hate speech creates in
a learning environment for the conclusion that the University of Florida should
prohibit hate speech. I will then consider the first amendment under the Constitution
as an objection to this argument, but will conclude that hate speech should be
prohibited on campus.
A hate speech restriction is a code that prohibits hate speech because of the verbal
and written attacks. These verbal or written attacks which may be derogatory, hurtful,
hateful, and disrespectful provoke violence and hostility. As a public institution with
thousands of students paying to be there, it is the duty of the University of Florida
to keep their students safe at all times. In order to be able to keep the students safe at
all times, the University has to prevent such violence and hostility which lead to
crime from happening. This crime, provoked by the hate speech, is also known as
hate crime, which results in violence on campus between students making them
unsafe and the campus unsound. Therefore, in order to keep all students safe, it is
the duty of the University of Florida to prevent crime by prohibiting hate speech.
Another duty that lies on the University of Florida is to make the learning
environment as friendly as possible. Students

6. Who s Irish By Gish Jen Analysis
In Gish Jen s Who s Irish? the witness, and amusement as well as the seriousness,
and sadness really make the reader think about different cultures. The story is
about an old Chinese grandmother who is widowed and trying to fit in and adapt
to her way of life in New York with her daughter Natalie. She speaks in a Chinese
immigrant voice while telling her story. She does not agree with a lot of the ways
Natalie tries to do things with her Irish husband John. She explains her background
in an amusing way, and compares everything to how she grew up in the eastern
culture. The grandmother does not agree with how Natalie is living her life and
trying to raise her daughter Sophie. Caring for a very hyper three year old at her
age takes over at the playground when Natalie eventually decides her mom should
not care for Sophie anymore when she falls asleep in a foxhole. John s motherBess

relatable to her adjusting to her broken English as well as trying to adapt to western
culture. Although the narrator tries to take things in her own hands, she is cut short
when her daughter disagrees and new American/Irish customs are not abided by
finding out Sophie has bruises. It is hilarious to listen to her explain her opinion with
her eastern view point and foreign theme. As assumed as the reader can be listing to

Nevertheless, government touches us all and not just during tax season. For better

it. For this reason, it becomes relevant for us as citizens and residents to pose certain
fundamental questions. The most significant being one that is consequential to all

The formation of Factions is a totally natural and to be expected. Different people
want different things. The two biggest examples of factions are the left and right
sides of the political spectrum. On one end, the left, you have the liberal people
open to new and different ideas, believe in the importance of helping each other,
and believe that government needs to be involved in social issues in order to
provide equality. On the other end, the right, you have the conservative people who
are determined to uphold established ways of thinking, believe in the importance of
self reliance, and believe that government should stay out of social issues in order
to protect freedom. What happens when these two large factions do not agree?
Absolutely nothing, as demonstrated by today s government. Madison was worried
about this problem and asserted that it was necessary for a national government
consisting of a single party to exist in order to counteract the polarizing and
paralyzing effects of factions among the states. As they act as a further separation of
power, factions do have their benefits. However, having the federal government
become a more party neutral environment could greatly help to avoid some of the
problems we see today; the federal government could keep the states and their
factions in check and make sure things actually get
14. The Intrigue of the Book of Danie
Book of Daniel The Book of Daniel is one of the most intriguing books found in the
Bible. To know God s plan for the future it is necessary that you understand the
book of Daniel. Daniel can be divided into two segments of six chapters each.
Chapters 1 6 are made up primarily of a historical narrative that explains how Daniel
came to be in King Nebuchadnezzar s royal court and his rise to power. Chapters 7
12 are of an apocalyptic genre in which Daniel receives visions concerning the future
and the kingdom of God. The book of Danielimplies that Daniel was its author in a
few key passages, such as 10:2 and 12:4. JesusChrist also attributed to this indication
via the quote Daniel the Prophet in Matthew 24:14. In questioning of the original
date for the composition of the book, two views prevail: 1) The book was written
in the 2nd century BC in Judea or 2) It was written in the 6th century BC in
Babylon by a Jewish exile name Daniel. The book sets its own historical timetable
of composition around 535 BC through such references as Nebuchadnezzar,
Belshazzar, and Cyrus (Hindson Towns, 2013). The key theme throughout the book
of Daniel is the reassurance of God sovereignty over the kingdoms of men (Daniel
4:17, KJV). The purpose of this book was to of encourage faithful living among God
s people by demonstrating His faithfulness and giving hope to those exiled from
Jerusalem. God blesses those who put their faith in him in spite of danger or

Class 2305, Section 53402, Spring 2016
The White House Chief of Staff
The specific role of the White House Chief of Staff is as complex as it is elusive.
The WHCS oversees high level White House staffing, who is allowed to speak with
the President directly, handles the President s schedule, is a confidant and advisor to
the President, handles what information the President receives, negotiates with
multiple parties to push the political agenda of the President, and is essentially the
President s fixer (Cohen, D. B., Hult, K. M., Walcott, C. E., 2016).
This role is appointed by the POTUS and requires no confirmation by the Senate,
and the Constitution has no say on this role as it was not officially created until
1946 as the Assistant to the President and receiving the current title in 1961 ( White
House Chief of Staff Isn t the Position You Think It is, 2013). In 1939 Franklin D.
Roosevelt and Congress approved the Executive Office of the President, allowing the
President to have staff that reported solely and directly to him. The executive branch
grew quickly, and in 1946 the Assistant to the President of the United Stateswas
created and given responsibility over the White House and its staff ( EXECUTIVE
BRANCH: THE PRESIDENT, 2014)
The WHCS role is essentially that of an assistant, albeit the most powerful assistant in
the world. Since President Nixon, no President has been

The CSI Effect
The CSI Effect began to fully take effect as the popularity for crime scene

television series that contributes to the CSI Effect is CSI however there are
several more like Criminal Minds, Bones, or Castle. In 2006 the weekly ratings
taken by Nielsan determined that five of the top 10 television programs [during one
week] were about scientific evidence in criminal cases. Together, they amassed more
than 100 million viewers (Shelton, 2008). This fact emphasizes just how popular
crime television is but more important what this fact shows is that more than 100

There is also the impact on the general public as a whole. For instance, those watch
police investigation dramas on television is generally their only source of
knowledge on how the process works. Individuals take information they already
have, simplify the complexity of an issue, and derive a steadfast conclusion
(Stevens, 2010 pp. 6 7). What this means is that common people look at a problem
and make an instant resolution or in other words, make a prediction without knowing
all the evidence or going through the deductive process. Individuals see the repetition
in the dramas leading them to assume what is going to happen. The thoughts of these
individuals are the ultimate building blocks to the CSI Effect. What is has
ultimately come down to is that the public has views shows that have hypothetically
solved real life cases before the actual cases have gotten to trial, so some jurors
believe they have gained insight from the media s amateur sleuthing (Ramsland,
2006, pp.
19. History Of Geographic Information Systems ( Gis )
The History of Geographic Information Systems Geographic Information Systems
(GIS) are a way that information can embedded into and retrieved from maps,
today this is done using computers, because of the complexity of the information
that can be used, but was once done manually. GIS has become common place in
the modern world that we live in, they are useful for simple things such basic maps
to much more complex tasks including research and statistics, city planning, as well
as many more. One of the first uses of a GIS was in the fight against cholera, first
Charles Picquet produced a map of 48 districts in Paris that displayed the number
of deaths from cholera per 1000 inhabitants using a colour gradient (Bagais, 2012).
Then in 1854 John Snow, an English doctor, created a GIS map of a cholera
outbreak in Soho, London. His map used points to show where each case of
cholera had occurred, through the use of this technique he was able to determine
that the cause of the cholera outbreak was a water pump located on Broad Street,
of which he removed the handle and ended the epidemic (Johnson, 2006). The
development of GIS was very slow in these early years, and it was not until the
early 20th century that any real advancement in GIS was seen, this was because of
the increasing development of photozincography (Cook, 2002). Photozincography
allowed the development of layers, these are a key component of any GIS, and each
layer was drawn by hand onto individual glass plates.
20. Factors Affecting The Choice Of Programming Language
Essay
The factors affecting the choice of programming language
Every programming language is used for difference purposes, and every language
has his pros and cons. There are also factors that affect the choice of which
programming language to use. Which are:
Reliability
Having a reliable prrogram is highly importan in programin. If an amployee gets
handed a task with a strict deadline. It it ismportant that the employee uses a
reliable program so it doesnt crash. It is important to use a reliable programming
software. The program or software must be highly secure and should be updated to
the latestet version, if the sytem is old it has a higher chance of crashing and may
cause other problems to the computer sytem such as slowing the speed of the
compter down or not respoding on time of comand. I would recommend ADA only
because it is the best and has all the reliable features.
Expandability
Expandibilaty is when you wish for more than one user to work on a solution at a
time Some programs have a high expandibialty which means they can easily be used
with any type of sytem the user has, through my research I realiesd PHP support
computer clusters and also can work with a huge number of files.
Organisational Policy
When choosing a programming language organizational policy. Programs such as
Visual basic are only affective on windows. Visual basic is a very popular object
oriented programing language which only runs smoothly one a windows device.

Learning about current events and having students become active members of their
communities is part of the outcomes of the 2007 Social Studies Program of Studies
(Alberta Education, p.1). Students are to participate in social studies thorough
research which is authentic to their lives and has real world application. By students
taking on the role of an expert and interacting with them, such as archeologists and
historians, students can become captivated by social studies (Park and Scott, 2014).
Thinking like a historian allows students to improve their problem solving ability,
contemplate about context, draw connections to the modern day as well as feel
compassion for other people. Teachers also need to plan in order for students to
apply and build on their previous understandings in areas like technology (Park and
Scott, 2014). Students should be involved in making assessment criteria, showed

22. The Fuel Burning Of Coal Essay
Introduction:
In 2015, the United States generated about 4 trillion kilowatthours of electricity.1
About 67% of the electricity generated was from fossil fuels (coal, natural gas, and
petroleum) (What). This shocked me to hear that statistic. I was aware that the
United States does a lot of fossil fuel burning; however, I did not know that we are
so reliant on it. The website later said that coal alone is responsible for 33% of the
electricity generated in the United States. Coal has always intrigued me since I was
young and liked trains, in particular, coal powered trains. So I thought I would look
into some statistics and information about the burning of coal. Sourcewatch.org said
that Coal combustion releases nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide, mercury, and dozens
of other substances known to be hazardous to human health (Air). There are plenty
of chemicals out there that I have never heard of, however, the three listed in the
lines above, I have heard before. Although, I do not know much about any of them;
so I will look them up.
Nitrogen Oxides: Nitrogen oxides are a group of gases that are composed of nitrogen
and oxygen. Two of the most common nitrogen oxides are nitric oxide and nitrogen
dioxide. The chemical formula for nitric oxide is NO; for nitrogen dioxide, it is
NO2. Nitrous oxide, N2O, is a greenhouse gas that contributes to climate change
(Tox). Nitrogen oxides do not appear to be the best chemical for the environment as
well as for people. Nitrogen

Do you think Pete Rose should be allowed in the Hall of Fame? If not, you re very

No one takes away from him the achievements that have brought him such
tremendous recognition, but the game has suffered enough blows to it s image
and it s integrity. The same principle that applies to Rose applies to the steroid

nation s pastime, you have a duty to uphold it s greatness with honesty, humility,
and dignity, and to forsake this and deface it s image makes you ineligible to be

position and all wrongdoing and roadblocks have been imposed on Pete Rose BY
PETE ROSE. His actions were not harmless or irrelevant; they ve dishonored the
game s reputation and broken it s sacred rules. I don t see anyone rushing to put
Joe Jackson in, and he was a better all around player than Rose was. (debate.org user,

24. Romans 8 Week 1 Assignment Analysis
Another assignment that really stuck out to me this week was our discussion. The
assignment asked us to talk about the manifestations of the enemy in our lives. It is
hard having that level of honesty, even when it is with strangers as is the case with
this class. Romans 8:1 tells us There is therefore now no condemnation for those who
are in Christ Jesus(English Standard Version). That should be the end of my shame,
but I still struggle with sharing with others sins that I have struggled with in the
past, even if they no longer rule my life. This morning I was reading my devotion
which is a devotional that focuses on the Pauline letters. One of the things that I read
this morning was Romans 7. Paul writes in Romans 7:18 19 For I know
25. The American Dream By Lorraine Hansberry
The American Dream From the first day that we can walk, talk, and think for
ourselves, we are dreamers. These dreams can be nothing more than an illusion, or
the foundations to the very lives we live daily. The American Dream is no
exception to this, shaping the lives of millions of Americans each and every day, as
it has done so for decades. We can see this through the works of many notable
authors and their works. Some examples of these people are F. Scott Fitzgerald,
Lorraine Hansberry, Thomas Jefferson, and even some more recent writers like John
Meacham and Lena Williams. While all of these people may have been alive at
different time periods, they all, for the most part, share one common ideology: the
American Dream is still alive,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The pursuit of happiness that he mentions shows that the common belief was that
anyone can achieve their happiness , or the American Dream, as long as one was
willing to work for it and overcome any obstacles in their way. During any time
period, there is always the common dream among those living in society, where
everyone wants to make the most of their life and achieve the dream that they have
been dreaming since the day they could think for themselves. The American
Dream was alive even during the beginning of our wonderful country, and it was
relatively the same as it is now. More than a century after the Declaration of
Independence, the American Dream was still alive and well. In the 1950s,
Lorraine Hansberry wrote A Raisin in the Sun. This play is about a financially
troubled African American family and the problems they face as they try to
achieve all of their versions of the American Dream. The play itself is centered
around the American Dream and how hard it can be to achieve. The main character,
Walter Younger, even says during the beginning of the play, Sometimes it s like I
can see the future stretched out in front of me just plain as day... Just waiting for me
( Hansberry 75). As Walter says, his American Dream is the future, and he can
almost see what it holds for him. He knows what he wants to accomplish and have,
but he has not reach that point in his life when he
26. Case Study Of Paul s False
Paul organized a country western concert in Bakersfield during the time that a major
rodeo was in town. He made the following arrangements for the concert: Paul
contracted with Alice, who owned Cowboy Auditorium, for the concert venue. Paul
chose Cowboy Auditorium because it seats 20,000 people. The contract, which was
signed by Paul and Alice, required any changes to be in writing and signed by both
parties. The rental price was $400,000. Paul sold out Cowboy Auditorium for the
concert. A month later, and three days before the concert, Alice informed Paul that
the roof of Cowboy Auditorium had collapsed during a rainstorm and that it could not
be repaired before Paul s concert date. Alice quickly offered to rent Paul another

National parks signify the beauty and compassion of our national heritage through

Ron Howard, include memorable names such as, Russel Crowe as John Nash,
Jennifer Connelly as Alicia Nash, Ed Harris as Parcher, Paul Bettany as Charles,
Christopher Plummer as Dr. Rosen, and Adam Goldberg as Sol. This film gives
much of its credit to the novel written by Sylvia Nasar. The book, A Beautiful Mind,
is a biography of John Forbes Nash and the book covers Nash s years in college and
his struggle with schizophrenia. For the film, the writing credits go to Akiva
Goldsman. Though this film has its flaws, it is still one of the best eye opening
films out there. The audience first sees John Nash at Princeton University where
he is competing with his peers for innovative ideas. We then meet his roommate,

even meets Charle s niece. It is not until later where we learn that Charles and his

30. The Invention Of The Printing Press
You can t stop people from printing what they want to print. Alan Sugar
The Printing Press, a 15th century invention, allowed scholars to print and distribute
their work throughout Europe. Church authority denounced the spread of scientific
ideas encouraged by the invention of the printing press. They banned scientific
works, like Galileo s Sidereus Nuncius, as academics published their research. Roman
Catholic Church authority advocated for biblical ideas, which opposed scientific
studies like the heliocentric theory and the study of kinetics. Ecclesiastical doctrine
contested the heliocentric theory, Galileo s research, and Newton s laws of motion,
demonstrating the incompatibility between scientific studies and theology.
Copernicus challenged the Roman Catholic Church with his Heliocentric Theory. In
his book De Revolutionibus Orbium Coelestium Libri VI, he explained his theory: the
hypothesis that planets revolved around the sun rather than the Earth (Williams,
L.Pearce). His proposition contradicted Bartolomeu Velho s geocentric theory, a view
more compatible with church doctrine, suggesting that all motion centered around
Earth (Velho Bartolomeu). The Bible established that [God] set the earth on its
foundation, therefore [Earth] can never be moved (Psalm 104:5). By claiming that
Earth remains stationary rather than revolving around the sun, the Church sided with
Bartolomeu Velho. In contrast, Copernicus questioned the Church, asking why we

Yekaterina: Russia s Golden Empress
From a small German principality to the very forefront of European politics, and
from Sophie Friederike of Anhalt Zerbst to Empress Yekaterina Alekseyevna,
Catherine the Great became one of Russia s most influential rulers in history. She is
regarded as one of the most powerful women the world has ever seen (Massie,
2011). Marked by political, societal, and cultural reforms, her reign, proclaimed the
Catherinian Age and the golden age of the Russian Empire, changed the country
irrevocably. Catherine s development of Enlightenment values, along with her
relationships with the French philosophes greatly impacted how she ruled (Lambirth,

uses language (p. 349) in regards to serfdom in the final draft of her Nakaz. Thus,
the parts relating to the subject of serfdom come out as a disorganized torrent of
jumbled words (p.349). During the actual assembly in 1768, the Russian nobility
all argued passionately in favour of serfdom, so, despite how Catherine herself felt
regarding the practice, the reactions by the nobles in the assembly made her back
away from further confrontation (p. 360). The Legislative Commission met just
over two hundred times and not one new law had been written (p. 360). By the
autumn of 1768, Catherine had had enough, and with the distraction of war
looming with Turkey, the last session took place on January 12, 1769, and never
met again (p. 361). This was however, forever regarded as the first attempt in
imperial Russia to give the people a voice in their own political destiny (p.

Jointly, this eventually results in an enjoyable and interesting movie. The important

Different parts of outer space are colder or hotter than other parts Even though the
space between stars contains gas or solar winds, it s still considered empty space.
This space can reach high temperatures of over one thousand degrees Fahrenheit. The
temperature is dependent from where one is taking the temperature. As one moves
further away from the sun, the colder it gets. Surface temperatures on Pluto can get as
cold as 33 degrees above absolute zero, the theoretical temperature where all
movement in matter stops. Heat sources, like the sun in our solar system, causes
objects in outer space to be hot. In areas that are equal distance between the sun and
the Earthin outer space, the temperature is about 45 degrees kelvin.

The Challenges to Henry VII Security Between 1487 and the end of 1499 Henry
VII faced many challenges to his throne from 1487 to the end of 1499. These
included many rebellions and pretenders to his throne. To what extent was the
success he dealt with them differs although the overriding answer is that by the end
of his reign he had secured his throne and set up a dynasty, with all challengers
removed. Lambert Simnel challenged Henry s security when Richard Symonds
passed him off as Warwick. Simnel was taken to Ireland, which had become the
centre of Yorkist plotting. Margaret of Burgundy provided money and an army of

The success of the win was therefore undermined, as he did not have the full loyalty
of his men at the battlefield. However, all in all, by using a large army to deal with
the rebels demonstrated to other challengers the strength Henry had at his hands
and this must surely be a success. Simnel was put to work in the royal kitchens.
This was a successful way of dealing with Simnel as it showed Henry to be a
merciful and forgiving man. Henry called a Parliament in November 1487. The
nobles and gentry who had supported the rebellion were attainted and their lands
were confiscated by the crown. This was successful as it made examples of these
men to warn off other contenders or rebels. In addition, by attainting them and
confiscating their lands, this meant that if a noble was to get involved in a rebellion
not only would he be affected but so too would his family, heir and subjects. This was
surely a lot more threatening then death. Henry quickly tried to mend relations with
Maximilian. A new treaty in January 1488 restored friendly relations with close
trading ties between England and Burgundy. As soon as Henry found out about the
Simnel conspiracy he
35. The Drum Women At Valley Forge
The book Following the Drum Women at the Valley Forge Encampment gave a very
good incite to not just what it was like for the men at Valley Forge, but what it was
like for the women who were there. In the winter of 1777 8 at Valley Forge there
were about one woman of every forty four men (Loane 133). I think book stressed
that these women were incredibly helpful in the effort to rebuild this army through
the rough winter, no matter what their job were. Although Washington did not think
much of the women with the army; he once commanded every woman to leave camp,
no matter what her contribution or marital state. The General s unfavorable attitude
toward the common camp women did not extend to all women Valley Forge(4). To me
it s interesting that General Washington said this about the women there, because
throughout the book I felt Washington enjoyed the presence of his wife and the other
troop s wives at the encampment. I feel like Americans typically perceive the story of
Valley Forge as a battle. Attacks never came from the British during the time the
Continental Armywas at the encampment. They believe that tons of lives were lost
there, when in reality, it was just a place for them to make it through the winter. I
think the book reinforces the perceptions of what happened there since, There was
between fifteen hundred and three thousand men that died at Valley Forge, not from
their wounds, but from disease (119). This statement reinforces the fact that no

Qin Shi Huang was born in 259 BC and eventually ascended to the throne of the
kingdom of Qin at the age of 21 creating a war and declaring himself China s first
emperor (Source 1). Although he did bring unification to China, Qin Shi Huang was
a forbidding and brutal dictator who abused his power and dishonoured his people

Huang, including: the banning of Confucius, how he enforced of unnecessarily strict
laws and how his arrogance and ignorance eventually took over.
Qin Shi Huang was a fierce leader who was feared by his people. (Source 1)
Believing that knowledge about the past was dangerous, as were ideas that
encouraged free and independent thinking, he banned the teaching of Confucius.
He instead preferred what is known as legalism. Han Fei tzu, a Legalist and the

In the book The Shawl, a family of three are trying to survive the Holocaust, but have

The setting of the story affected the characters. They have been so brutalized that
they are hardly recognizable as human. (May Charles E.) The way how they were
brutalized depicts how they are going to be treated throughout the story. This

oneself. A Nazi guard throws Magda into an electrified fence. She dies instantly.
(May Charles E.) Even though Magda was only an infant, the guards could care less
about what they are since they are Jews. This show how humans can kill each other
without a thought of what they are killing. With the three main characters being Jews,
which is one of many that suffered in the Holocaust, they suffered for not being
Aryan.
As the story progressed, the story had many tones that can be interpreted. Rosa even

40. The Characteristics Of Frederick DouglassGifts And Heros
Leaders at my church often say, god wants his people to use their unique gifts and
talents to serve others. Heroes are a great example of people who use their gifts to
serve others; however, their gifts are not always superpowers. In spite of the
stereotypes, many heroes are average people with a dream of something better for
themselves and others. For instance Frederick Douglass was a slave, yet he still
became a hero. Despite the many trials he escaped and used his gifts of speech and
writing to inspire hope in millions. Frederick Douglass spoke about the horrendous
experience of being a slave because many people back then did not truly
understand. Through these speeches he created a book and years later when the
civil war broke out he convinced the U.S Army to allow African Americans to join
to earn freedom. Although, Frederick was not done yet, after they gained freedom
he protested that it is pointless for African Americans to be free but not have the
same rights as White Americans. These protest led to the abolishment of slavery.
Frederick Douglass is clearly a hero, but what characteristics do all heroes need?
Simple, a hero must be brave and determined to make a change and they can not be
arrogant in anyway. Furthermore, in the real world all heroes use bravery as a way
to repel fear and their bravery helps others show bravery. For example, Deamonte
Love had to show a great amount of bravery when he and a few other children got
separated from their parents.

A set of internationally recognized accounting standards facilitates capital flows
across borders. Globally accepted standards make financial information readily
comparable for its users. Foreign investors are more inclined to put money into a
U.S. company if they are familiar with the company s financial reporting.
Conversely, U.S. investors will find it easier and less risky to invest in foreign
companies when they know the local accounting standards (Epstein 2009). This will
make U.S. companies and capital markets more competitive, since it saves costly

42. Making A Great Investment, Questions and Answers
1.Outline the reasons why investors purchase mutual funds.
There are varies reasons why investors purchase mutual funds. Professional
management is one of the reasons investors purchase mutual funds. The second
reason investors purchase mutual funds is for diversification purposes. Mutual funds
are investment companies that pools the money of many investors (Hughes,
2009,P.513). A mutual fundpools money from hundreds and thousands of investors to
construct a portfolio of stocks, bonds, real estate, or other securities, according to its
charter (CNNMoney). Mutual funds may be go up and down. And while some
mutual funds consistently showed positive returns, many shareholders experienced a
roller coaster ride, with prices for mutual fund shares increasing and decreasing over
the first seven years of the century (Hughes, 2009, p.514) Mutual funds closed end
funds, open ended funds, and exchange change funds. Investors should know the

Mauryan Political Success Essay
In the year 322 BC, Chandragupta Maurya founded the Mauryan dynasty in what is
now present day Eastern India. Before the Mauryans, there had been hundreds of
private kingdoms and armies, but the central government formed by Chandragupta
Maurya provided a stable, unified nation. In the conventional age of India s history, it
contained two important dynasties, the Mauryan and Gupta. The rise of the Mauryan
Dynasty was advanced by the invasion of Alexander of Macedonia in 327 B.C.
Although Alexander himself did not leave any long lasting impression on India, he

times during Indian history when the population experienced a wide period of

ancient India, and most periods since, allowing long distance commerce to be easier.
An archaeological record proposes the standard of living rose under Mauryan rule.
Iron implements became a main use, and helped the reclamation of the land for

authority of the Mauryan Empire, farmers were unregulated of tax and crop

system functioned under the values of the Arthashastra, an ancient Indian treatise of
economic policy, statecraft, and military strategy. Metal coins in the time became
vastly widespread, and enthused trade. This growing trade reflected the spread of

45. The Battle Of The Silver Cannon
Samuel walked back to the packed dirt path watching leaves fall as he adjusted his
pants and slung his rifle over his shoulder. He fell back into the group of his Union
soldier comrades, even though he disliked most of them and would rather be with
his old companions, they left and were probably dead. Most the men he is with
know are either barely old enough to hold a gun or too old to see. Except captain
O neill but he barely talked and never left his tent when they made camp. Samuel
usually didn t care about the captain but he was tired of talking to old men and
boys. Samuel sped up to get past the four men pushing the bronze cannon they were
bringing back to base. He approached the Captain who was riding their one and only
horse.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

actually I don t. But thank you for your concern, I suppose. After those last words
the Captain Galloped away, leaving Samuel behind. Samuel started walking back
to where he was but before he was able to get there he heard a crack and then
frantic shouting. Samuel ran towards the sound as soon as he heard it. Running in
the late summer heat tired him out and made his short hair wet with sweat. He
heard the whinny of a horse and knew who he was about to stumble on but not
what. He ran into the clearing, where he heard the horse, with revolver drawn
anticipating a fight but all he saw was Captain O neill stood over a still, lifeless
body. Captain! What happened? Are you alright? Even shouting it looked like the
Captain didn t hear Samuel. Captain! What happened? Samuel was slowly
approaching the Captain now, revolver still drawn. I I m fine the Captain s voice
was hoarse and broke when he started talking, he s dead, I shot him. Well he is just
a Confederate, right? Samuel walked closer, slowly as he could tell the Captain
was obviously unstable. That s why I shot I thought he was, he s dressed like one.
O neill looked over to Samuel, I mean, It s pretty clever. The horse ran past Samuel,
once he got close, heading back to the road. Samuel was finally close enough to see
the mans face, It s a runaway? The Captain wouldn t respond, maybe he just didn t
46. Fall Of Rome Dbq
What were the primary reasons for the fall of Rome? During it s time Rome was
one of the biggest powerhouses on the planet. Rome had many achievements but
what comes up must come down and Rome eventually fell. Some people still don t
know what the main reason why rome fell but there are a couple of reasons it fell.
Some reasons our having a weak army, political and leadership problems, and
economic problems. Here is some evidence why Romefell.
First off is economic problems and the main problem is that Roman money
became less and less valuable everyday. Another problem of the roman economy is
that the law was very easy to bribe the rich can basically avoid the law by just
paying them. This is said by Pricus a Roman ambassador to the Huns in document
E. Taxes were also very high and this made Roman citizens mad and began to riot.
This piece of evidence is also said by Priscus in document E. The emperor themself
would steal just for their own personal gain. This was said in the brain PoP The Fall
of Rome . Rome had a very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rome s army became lazy and didn t want to train right and do other things like
they abandoned their armor since they were too lazy to wear it. This was said by a
roman historian Vegetius in document B. Also said by Vegetius the roman army
abandoned their ground drills which made them an easy target. This problem was
created because of the army s laziness and the army didn t care about training.
Rome also had to draft soldiers but their was a major fluad in the system and
certain groups can avoid or escaped being drafted like cooks, bakers, and slaves.
This was written by Michael Grant a reappraisal and since different groups of
people can escape the draft the military didn t get as many soldiers. If you want a
huge empire you need good leadership but that what rome lacked the

thing about Mechanical Engineering is that all my interests find application.
Considered the most versatile field in engineering, Mechanical Engineering covers
range of subjects like design, software, production analysis, manufacturing to name a
few. This field demands high creativity, innovative thinking, very good hold on Math
and most important to think radically. This triggers the pulses and is the very reason
for choosing this as my field of study. My experiences as a student of .... the training,
the projects, the tough targets etc. has brought me very close to realities of life and

Essay
Gender Role In Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness
For the most part people who read Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad may feel
that the novella is strictly a story of exploration and racial discrimination. But to
Johanna Smith who wrote Too Beautiful Altogether : Ideologies of Gender and
Empire in Heart of Darkness it is much more than that. Johanna Smith along with
Wallace Watson and Rita A. Bergenholtz agree that throughout Heart of Darkness
there are tones of gender prejudice, but the way that these three different authors
perceive and interpret those gender tones are to a certain extent different.
In Too Beautiful Altogether Smith points out that even though Heart of Darkness is
an especially masculine account, femininity and ... Show more content on

To recognize ideological contradictions in Heart of Darkness, one needs to be on
familiar terms with discourse. A discourse is a domain of language use (Belsey 5), a
specific mode of speaking, writing, and thinking that includes certain shared
assumptions (Smith 190). One example Smith gives of an ideology in Heart of
Darkness is the ideology of gender or empire, written in the words feminine or
savage. Johanna Smith gives many examples of Marlow s contradictions that his
ideological discourse of empire and gender work to mystify. In Heart of Darkness
the women are often silenced. Smith points out the example of the laundress: the
company s chief accountant insists that she had to be taught to launder his clothes
properly and that she had a strong disliking for the job. But you never truly hear
her side of the story; Smith suggests Marlow s silencing of the laundress shows
Marlow s authority as the masculine narrator of his story, to conceal not only her
story but also those of the other silent women in Heart of Darkness (Smith 193).
Marlow s Way of self asserting his dominating silence of the women is a clear
example of Marlow s view towards women and is a key illustration of just how much
Marlow believes he, as a male, is far more superior than a women. The second point

Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism, the character of John will be brought
to light. John is a common man, a hard worker, a family man, and also happens to be
my dad. But what sets him apart?
For one, He is highly intelligent and great at jeopardy due to all the useless facts
he knows about a variety of subjects. He exhibits a large and rich vocabulary on a
daily basis. Combined with his love of art and music, this would make you think he
is a very open man, if you understood what that meant, and you would be right.
Furthering this evidence that he exhibits a great deal of this trait known as Openness,
he is always taking forever on family trips to take pictures of everything we see,
specifically landscape wise. He also often ponders the meaning of life and what
happens to us after we die, and is always voting for the most liberal candidate in an
election. Openness as has been described through the aspects of my father s
personality is the ability to go against the norm and to see things past what they
appear to be on the surface. When one has a high level of the trait of Openness,
they have a great love of Art and can become easily absorbed in these things. They
are open to novel and innovative ideas and have rich fantasies to create a more
elaborate, striking, and extraordinary world.

The innocent civilians sitting in their homes too afraid to leave the comfort of their
houses, and the Flash doing everything she could to stop the metahumans from
tormenting them. Barry looked at the hologram in shock as she saw burning
buildings, cars turned each or every way, shattered glass, and bodies stacked on top

order to think of a solution. By the time all three of her teammates arrived she had
over 750 mph and crashed into the padded wall about four times before staring to run
again. And a possible idea.
Hey Barry, we re all here. What s wrong? coming to a slow stop the female
speedster looked up to see Cisco Ramon talking to her through the intercom a
worried expression on his face. Giving him a small smile, she walked out of the

curious expression.
Barry took a deep breath, Gideon, I need you to show them the new timeline.

didn t even care about how Gideon let herself be apart of the main interface. Barry

52. The Discourse Of Shakespeare s Hamlet ( Rough Draft )
The Discourse of Dance in Shakespeare s Hamlet (Rough Draft)
Alan Brissenden, a noted dance critic and Shakespearean scholar, asserts that when
Shakespeare uses dance it always contributes to plot, character, or imagery, and
sometimes to all of these at one time ( Jacobean 249). In the comedies, dance is used
in the first few acts of the play to create an atmosphere of dramatic irony: dance, in
its fundamental purpose in the Elizabethan and Jacobean theater was to create a
sense of harmony and goodwill; when paired with the plot of a tragedy, dance stands
in stark contrast to the discord of the final acts. Dance, therefore, makes a
dramatically relevant comment on the action to follow (Shakespeare 75). Though
extensively covered by academic discourse, little research has been conducted
concerning the use of dance and dance imagery in Hamlet. Shakespeare uses the
discourse of dance and clowning to define Hamlet s character. Dance does not inform
the action, but rather informs the inaction. It defines Hamlet s state of mind and his
lack of desire to escape his melancholy. Dance is a means through which he criticizes
others, criticism which draws these characters into his own madness.
During the Early Modern period, dance had many uses; it was considered a form of
medicine, a sign of religious exaltation, and a social necessity. Dance was a popular
form of exercise and hygiene, keeping the humors in balance and promoting good
health much like hunting, walking,

Pollution and trash build up in Los Angeles has been accumulating and worsening for
many years. The homeless population in Los Angeles also has been at an all time
high. In areas like Van Nuys, Reseda, Downtown, and many more, there needs to be
more trash cans near homeless encampments and along with those, cameras, which
will document and hopefully successfully pinpoint potential littering suspects. The
trash is not only harmful and damaging to our community but also Earth as a whole.
By setting up more trash cans of which the city would be in charge of, it would
hopefully encourage those who do frequently litter to throw away their waste
properly. Besides putting up cameras and implementing more trash cans we can also
set up a plan to benefit both our homeless citizens and the environment of our cities.
The homeless give service to their city by keeping it clean and in return they gain
food and shelter. The process works by setting up trash cans in locations where
homeless tend to shelter themselves such as around freeways, the sidewalks, and
within other public places. The homeless can take the trash they find and pick up
whatever other trash they see to clean up. When the trash bags reach a certain weight,
they can then take that garbage to homeless shelter. In return, the homeless shelter
allows these homeless a night or two in the shelter. The main organizations,
companies, and people we have contacted for our idea include Clean Up Los Angeles

Thesis: James pursuit for absolute power gave him his success in Scotland but when
he arrived in England he failed in his fight against the parliament since they weren t
used to this type of governing.
James became King of Scotland in 1567. During his 25 years as King he was fairly
successful. He could peacefully enjoy absolute power under his reign in Scotland.
He makes these policies which will help him on his road to becoming king of England
. A new Challenge arises when he is chosen as King of England in 1603.

At one point, James s main issue was that he didn t understand the rights or amount

1610 when Robert Cecil, Earl of Salisbury proposed this Great Contract where
James would give feudal revenue to the parliament in exchange for a fixed sum.
This resulted in nothing but the parliament being dissolved. in 1612, Robert Cecil
