My Favorite Pet Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "My Favorite Pet" may initially seem like a straightforward task,
as it involves expressing personal preferences and experiences. However, delving into the
intricacies of such a seemingly simple topic can prove to be a challenging endeavor. The
difficulty lies not only in articulating one's fondness for a particular pet but also in creating a
compelling narrative that engages the reader.
To begin with, selecting a favorite pet itself can be a daunting decision, especially for individuals
who have had various animal companions throughout their lives. The emotional attachment to
each pet adds a layer of complexity to the writing process, as one must carefully choose which
experiences to highlight and how to convey the uniqueness of the bond.
Furthermore, crafting an essay on this topic requires striking a balance between personal
anecdotes and broader reflections on the significance of pets in one's life. It is not merely about
listing the endearing qualities of the chosen pet but also about exploring the emotional impact
and lessons learned from the companionship. This demands a thoughtful approach to storytelling
and self-reflection.
Developing a coherent structure for the essay poses another challenge. Ensuring a smooth flow
of ideas, from introducing the pet to describing memorable moments and concluding with
reflections, demands careful organization and planning. The writer must navigate the narrative to
maintain reader interest and evoke a sense of connection to the shared experiences.
In addition, finding the right tone and voice is crucial. Striking a balance between sincerity and
engaging storytelling can be a delicate task. It requires a keen understanding of the target
audience and an ability to convey the personal connection without veering into sentimentality or
becoming overly mundane.
In conclusion, while the topic of "My Favorite Pet" may seem straightforward, the process of
writing an essay on this subject involves navigating through personal emotions, selecting and
organizing experiences, and effectively communicating the significance of the relationship with
the chosen pet. It is an intricate task that requires careful thought, creativity, and a mastery of
language to truly capture the essence of the bond.
For those who find themselves struggling with such writing endeavors, it's worth noting that
help and assistance are readily available. Similar essays and a variety of writing services can be

expressing their thoughts and experiences effectively.

Low Self Esteem Essay
Juman Sayoury Christopher Baker PSCH 100 20 February 2017Stuck with Low
Self Esteem? The concept of self esteem is widespread in life. When it comes to
academics and extracurricular actives people associate high self esteem is
necessary for success. Society makes promoting self esteem an important goal. With
that in mind, it is surprising that only recently scientific literature began providing
insight into the nature of development of self esteem. Self esteem is how an
individual evaluates their worth as a person. It is not a person s talents or abilities
or how they are seen by others It is seen as the feeling of not being good enough.
However, that does not mean people with high self esteem view themselves as...

Additionally, research indicates that individuals with certain personality traits are
more likely to undergo increases in self esteem throughout life. Particularly
individuals who are extroverted, emotionally stable, and hardworking are inclined
to show more development in self esteem compared to those who lack these traits.
Apart from levels of self esteem, another aspect is the degree of change when it
comes to external factors, such as failure or success. Unexpected fluctuations in
self esteem are not considered beneficial because it suggests that the individual
does not have a stable sense of self worth. Studies show that as people go through
their adolescent and middle adulthood years, self esteem levels become more
constant. Is self esteem s stability more similar to mood, varying from different
situations, or personality and intelligence? Two studies have studied the stability
of individual differences in self esteem. Both studies proved that 70 85% of
variance of self esteem was accounted for by trait factors. The real question is, does
it matter if someone has high or low self esteem? Does high self esteem lead to
better relationships, work, and health? Is self esteem a reflection of success in
those areas? If so, improving self esteem will be beneficial in life. The general
pattern found in studies proved that high self esteem is a predictor of life success. In
situations where someone has very low
Essay about Celebrity Role Models and Children
During these times, once you turn on your television set you are abruptly notified
on yet another absurd act that a celebrity had committed the night before. The
media becomes engrossed by the despicable behavior and ravages at it as if it was
the final grain of rice. Once they have completed a story that is at the right level of
crudeness, they deliver it to the public. The vulgar news reaches households all
across the world, and then it soon pollutes the minds of innocent and young children.
At a young age, boys and girls commonly compare themselves with reference groups
of people who occupy the social role to which they desire. The constant negative and
sometimes provocative images that are displayed by celebrities are what define...

For example, the pop sensation, Britney Spears, was arrested five times in 2006 for
driving while intoxicated. Britney Spears is one of 156 celebrities that are arrested
per year for the same charges. If a child observes these crimes enacted by the
celebrities, the actions demonstrate activities that can lead to jail time and deeply
affect their future. In conclusion, a boy or girl should not look up to celebrities for
their immoral and scandalous enterprises. In order to be a commendable role model,
you must have the courage to perform what is virtuous. Although it may be difficult
in front of all the lights and cameras, celebrities fail to have this trait and
consequently cannot be seen as exemplars. Under any circumstance a role model
must put the right foot forward and direct its followers to a better way of life.
Famous people are consistently infected with what is known as the stardom
disease . Despite a strong promise to stay moral, celebrities always find themselves
spiraling into some form of turmoil. The cause of their downfalls is that they do not
have the fortitude to remain on the righteous path and avoid doing what is wrong.
Britney Spears did not have the bravery to reject the idea of getting drunk and
marrying off to a man she did not truly love. As a result, her actions reflect her

The Pros And Cons Of The Yuma Project
The yuma project was first authorized in May 10,1904 and was the first irrigation
project in Yuma. Thanks to the Yuma project many farms got water and the farms
were finally able to produce goods. Once the project was done many people found
out that Yuma had water and it was able to be transported to the farms, the
population started to increase, but it didn t only just increased, it also decreased by
a little, but later on population started to expand once more. Developers also faced
many challenges, it wasn t easy for the developers to assemble the project.
Something that was also a bit of a problem to them was the cost of building,
repairing, and paying the workers when the project was being generated. The
challenges that they had to face were not that simple.
Many obstacles were placed in front when they were starting the project. According
to the image provided by Knapp, while the Yuma Project was being created, it had...

There were negative impacts that they faced was when the Yuma Project was being
created, that was what Atkins wrote and represented in what he had in the article
written by him. He stated that the U.S. Department flood and drought was one of the
problems. With that problem going on, the farms were not able to be farmed. So
there was no irrigation so that meant that many or none of the business were able to
get any produce from their farms so they wouldn t sell anything so their business
would come down. With the irrigation problem going on the Southwest was having
trouble with their farm. They weren t getting enough water for their farms so not
many produce was coming out from them. To be able to help them they have to
build a dam and also have to control the water that they have for it to be able to last.
Yet, before they could help them they had to resolve the water rights thing for it to be

Line Clipping Is The Process Of Removing Lines
LINE CLIPPING ALGORITHMS Line clipping is the process of removing lines
/portions of lines that are outside of an area of interest. There are two main
algorithms of line clipping namely: 1)Copen Sutherland 2)Liang Barsky Copen
Sutherland This algorithm is used to detect and dispense with two trivial cases
and in order to clip a line we are required to consider only the end points. When the
endpoints of a specific line lie inside the window then it can be said to be trivially
accepted and clipping is not required. Clipping occurs when both endpoints of a
line lie entirely to one side of the window thus indicating that the line entirely lies
outside of the window hence trivial rejection and the line needs to be clipped.
Inside Outside Window Codes The Copen Sutherland algorithm sets up a half
space code for the endpoints so as to determine whether the endpoints are inside or
outside the window. An infinite line is defined by every edge of the window
which divides the entire space into two half spaces (the inside half space and the
outside half space) Fig 1.1 During the trivial acceptance and rejection tests the
edges of the window are extended so as to divide the window planes into 9 regions.
The end points of the respective line are then assigned the code of the region in
which it lies. 1)Given a line with endpoint L1 =(x1, y1) and L2 = (x2, y2), we
compute the 4 bit codes for the endpoints: If both codes are 0000 the line maybe said
to completely lie
The Use Of Sexual Gratification On College Campuses
Hookups are a type of brief sexual relationship that typically occur on only one
occasion between two people who are usually strangers or have briefly become
acquainted (Paul, McManus Hayes, 2000). Hooking up may be considered to be
the contemporary term for the older phrase one night stand which also implies a no
strings attached interlude. In this sort of association, sexual gratification can be the
primary goal, with companionship being a distant consideration. This variety of
alliance can certainly involve both heterosexual and homosexual couples and can
be facilitated through friends or like minded individuals. According to one study,
this casual and non committal sexual encounter based form of interaction now
finds itself as the predominating heterosexual relationship on college campuses
(Stinson, 2010). It may be easy to see why this is the case as the lifestyles of
students are busy ones and often little time is available to devote to what is
necessary to maintain a more serious involvement. Friends with Benefits Friends
with benefits relationships are generally considered to be a relationship that occurs
between friends of the opposite sex who participate in sexual practices but view their
bond as being non romantic (Hughes, Morrison, Asada, 2007). However, there is no
reason to believe that this type of strictly platonic relationship cannot have its
equivalent parallel with members of the same sex. There are advantages to this type
of arrangement that are

Cajun Culture Essays
Nous sommes Acadiens. (We are Acadians.) Some outsiders see us as a quaint,
virtuous people, spending a great deal of time singing, dancing, praying, and
visiting? (Conrad, 1978, p.14). Others see us as independent and unsophisticated.
We see ourselves as fun loving, carefree, happy, proud people who have a great love
for our culture. The Acadians were French settlers of eastern Canada who were
exiled from their land in the 1750?s. The Acadians are known to have settled in the
southern bayou lands of Louisianaaround that time. The Acadiana people acquired
their nickname, ?Cajuns,? from those people who could not pronounce Acadians
correctly. Due to the opinion that Cajuns were ?different?, they lived close together

It was the primary pastime of families. The music was original and they were proud
of it. The Cajuns sang from the heart, and that is what made the music the best and
only one of its kind. They expressed their love, joy, pain, and grief through song.
Playing the accordion was an important accompaniment to their singing. This
instrument gave Cajun music its remarkable sound and beat. French songs sung by
the Cajuns many times reflected their language. Slang phrases such as ?oh yai yi?,
an expression of grief or pain, and ?Aaeeh? were shouted during the song when no
lyrics were sung. One particular phrase used most often in French love songs was
?oh, petite ch #233;rie?, which meant ?dear little girl.? A few French songs that
became well known around Acadiana in the 1920?s and 1930?s were ?J?ai Pass
#233; Devant ta Porte,? (I Passed in Front of Your Door), and ?Saute Crapaud,?
(Jump Frog). The most well known Cajun French song ever depicted is ?Jolie
Blonde? (Beautiful Blonde). It is popular not only in Acadiana but in many other
places outside of Acadiana, Louisiana, and the United States, even though many do
not understand the Cajun French language. The unique style and beat of Cajun music
will never be forgotten, nor will it ever die out. For these reasons and many more,
Cajun French music will always ?laissez le bon temps rouler? (let the good times
roll)!

Family Is The Most Significant Impact On My Life
Family is my everything. Family has shaped both my character and my identity;
however, my sister has had the most significant impact on me. My sister, Jordan,
and I grew up as any typical sisters would. We never saw eye to eye and fought over
who borrowed whose shirt. That all changed the summer going into my freshman
year of high school and her freshman year of college. Jordan s dream college was
Arizona State University and unfortunately we were still living in Colorado at the
time. My family was in nowhere of a financial position to be sending her out of
state. We were faced with the ultimatum of either moving to Arizona or sacrificing
her college dream. The move to Arizona was mutually difficult for us. For the first
time we were both in a vulnerable state of mind and it was essential to rely on each
other for support. This situation taught me about the importance of sacrifice. I was
a tenacious and selfish teenager who needed to learn what it meant to sacrifice for
loved ones. That is something Jordan enlightened me on. That first year rapidly
changed the dynamic of our sisterhood. She was no longer solely my sister; but,
she was my ally, therapist, critic, teacher, and most of all best friend. Each year that
I mature, I learn and strive to me more like my sister. She has influenced my
identity even more than I would perceive possible. She has taught me to be strong.
In the middle of high school, my parents had decided to get a divorce. This decision
opened up an entire

along with 12 other students. Nothing more, nothing less, just a piece of paper
stating that I had been involved. A certificate that, at the time, I was proud to have. I
felt accomplished, as if I had attained some monumental achievement. Not everyone
was lucky enough to even participate, so who was I to complain about not doing
anything special enough to receive a plaque, like the girl two spaces down from me.
Never, in my life, have I ever been told that I am not enough. I ve always met the
expectations of my peers and authority figures, and I was comfortable with continuing
in this manner. I was content with meeting the status quo, and kept myself from

Henry Ford Turning Points In American History
Henry ford
Henry ford was born in 1863, on July 30, near Dearborn, Michigan, on his family s
farm. His father gave henry a pocket watch when henry was thirteen years old.
Henry took the watch a part and put it back together. Many people were amazed and
ask henry to work on their watches. Henry Ford s model T. and the assembly line are
important turning points in American history. Before 1908 automobiles were a
luxury item that only the rich could afford. Henry ford devised a cheaper and faster
way to manufacture cars. The model T. was assembled on an assembly line which
produced more cars in the less time.
Henry worked on the family farm for several years. However, he did not like that
type of work. He left the farm at the age of 16 to work in Detroit as an apprentice as
a machinist. During this time, henry ford learned to service and operate
machinery. He also studied bookkeeping during the time period. Ford married
Clara Ala Bryant in 1888. He then went back to farming in order to support her and
their son, Edsel. Three years after returning to farming he went to work for Edison
illuminating company as an engineer. It was not long until he was promoted to
chief of engineer which occurred in 1893. During this time period, Ford worked on
plans for a horseless carriage. He built his first model in 1896 ... Show more content

vision was to mass produce watches and sells them really cheap. He realized that,
at that time, he did not have the means to do so however, he never gave up on his
dream, which changed the way we live. The impact of his vision of mass production
is still with the world today as it was in his lifetime. Henry ford lived in a middle
class and ethic style of living as a result of henry ford s
Examples Of Misfortunes In Romeo And Juliet
There are many misfortunes that occur in Shakespeare s piece, Romeo and Juliet.
In this play, there are two families the Montagues and Capulets. These two families
have an ongoing feud, but trouble begins to surface when two teenagers under
these households fall in love. These two characters (Romeo and Juliet) continue
with their love in secrecy. Romeo is soon banished and Juliet finds herself in an
arranged marriage. In order to get out of her situation, Juliet fakes her death and
plans to run away with Romeo. Unaware her death was fake, Romeo decides to kill
himself. When Juliet finds him dead, she kills herself as well. Once their families
learn of their deaths and secret love, their feud is ended. Throughout this play, the
characters blame fate for the tragedies that occur. However, fate has no role in this
well known piece of Shakespeare s work. One of the main reasons all these tragedies
occur is because of secrecy. Because Romeo and Juliet didn t tell anyone in their
families of their marriage, many unfortunate events took place. Since Tybalt had not

When Romeo goes to the Friar asking him to wed him and Juliet, he goes along
with it instead of saying no until they grew to knew each other better. Juliet also
goes to the Friar, but this is when she is about to be wed to Paris. Instead of simply
telling her to tell her parents about her relationship with Romeo, or tell her to run
away, he gives her a potion in order to fake her own death. Just as Juliet is waking
from her 48 hour slumber, the Friar is with her and hears a mysterious noise. He
then decides to leave her in this vulnerable position. Therefore love moderately.
Long love doth so. (2.6.10 15) This is what the Friar is telling Romeo after he weds

Booker T Washington Vs Childhood
Booker T. Washington was an american author, writer, educator, orator, and advisor

editor American sociologist, historian, and civil rights activist. Both outstanding men
in their time, an unmeasurable amount of work achieved, and in both done in the
19th century. By using different aspects of their childhood, accomplishments, and
view on civil rights both men can be compared and contrasted emancily. To begin
this educated journey ,Booker T. Washington s childhood creates an uplifting effect
towards any person. Booker T. Washington s effort just to have an education was
incredible just by itself, having to work many hours before an after school just to
make up for the work that was lost when he was in school. Booker T. Washington
was born in Franklin County, Virginia around the 1850s, Booker T. Washington spent
his early childhood as a slave. Chasing emancipation, Washington (like many Blacks)
felt that a formalized education was the more efficient way to improve his living
accommodations. Due to social segregation, the availability of education to blacks
was unreasonable limited. Any student would have a horrendous attitude towards
this, but not Booker T. Washington , I have learned that success is to be measured
not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he
has overcome while trying to succeed (Norton pg.122). This quote can even
Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies
Transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs), or Prion diseases, are a group
of neurodegenerative disorders which include but is not limited to kuru, Creutzfeldt
Jakob disease (CJD), Gerstmann Sträussler Scheinker (GSS) syndrome, and fatal
familial insomnia in men, natural scrapie in sheep, goats and mufflons. The first
records of neurodegenerative disease which would later be linked to Prions were
made about two hundred years ago. It was in the 1950 s it was discovered that Prion
disease could be transmitted horizontally, in addition to being inheritable and
spontaneous. These findings were sought out by isolated tribes of the New Guinea
that were suffering from high prevalence of a particular TST called Kuru. Some
additional history of Prion disease dates back to the 1980 s when an increasing
number of cows in the UK became infected with Mad Cow Disease also known as
Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy. This unfortunate epidemic was traced back to
a food supplement that was fed to the cows, this supplement contained mean and
bone meal from dead sheep. A speculation was then drawn that the BSE had been a
result of the sheep that had suffered from scrapie, which is a sheep specific Prion
disease. As a result it was decided by the British government that the banning of
animal derived feed supplements. This helped to decrease the disease of cattle which
subsequently disrupted the spread of the disease amongst livestock and animals.

Why Do Pocket Aces
There are a lot of myths that develop everyday which do nothing but confuse the
mind of Omaha players. You may never know the reason behind all of these myths,
but one thing is certain, and that is the fact that the myths should be busted. When
talking about Omaha, I would seldom hear people say that aces never win in
Omaha, as if the card possesses some mystical power. Basically, pocket aces are
two card hands in a game wherein a five card hand wins. Some people would
regard aces as nothing special, and sometimes not even a part of the playable hand.
Such as flopping a set, taking aces for granted will surely spell losing. Aces have the
tendency to take over good Omaha hands which simply connote Omaha hands having
one ace in them. However,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

fun. I ve also played in small tournaments, my largest in person one being with over

Within a few hours my initial bankroll quadrupled; I felt I was playing excellent
poker with some added luck of course. I of course hit a bad beat and my bankroll
dwindled; within a week I lost not only my initial bankroll but more then I would
ve liked to from my financial portfolio. So heres a few tips from my real world
experience and I think advice others would support as well especially relevant in
online poker. Most poker sites will let you set a deposit limit; Full Tilt where I play

protects me from letting my emotions get the best of me. Make sure your bankroll
is enough to pad your playing for a while. Always do the max buy in at a table

Understanding Gerlad s Writings
Giraldus Cambrensis, known more commonly as Gerald of Wales, was a complex
mix of nationalities far greater than his name implies. Understanding Gerlad s
writings of The History and Topography of Ireland and The Journey Through Wales
and the Description of Wales can only be done when analyzed in context. It is vital
to evaluate how his diverse background and calculated reasons for the descriptions of
the Welsh and Irish peopleinfluenced his writing. And furthermore, it is imperative to
use Gerald s writings to consider if his writings accurately reflect English attitudes of
Ireland and Wales.
Interpreting Gerald and determining if his writings reflected views of the English
is not a simple answer. To answer the question, Gerald himself must be categorized.
While being one quarter Welsh from his grandmother, a Princess of Wales, he had
a variety of life experiences that classify him as something else (Gransden 160).
He studied in France, at the University of Paris making him highly educated and
well traveled for the time (Clarke 98). In addition to this he was also a Cambro

Church and had ties to the Norman wave of immigrants in Wales (Gransden 160). In

The Challenges Of The Sukuk Industry
2.3.5 Challenges in the Sukuk Industry There are challenges in the Malaysian sukuk
market. An important component for the growth of Islamic capital markets is the
conception of a secondary selling platform for the capital market instruments. This
will supply investors with flexibility in supervising their liquidity requirements. The
creation of a continuous supply of Islamic papers and instruments need to advertise
them greater depth in the market. There also necessarily to be greater diversity in the
type and maturity of the sukuk in the market for Islamic financial institutions and
portfolio managers to supervise their funds effectively. The Malaysian government
regularly issues sukuk with different maturities in order to produce a benchmark
yield curve. Another challenge to the growth of the market cares pricing issues. For
the Islamic security to be efficiently priced and believable, further initiatives need to
be undertaken to originate its own indicator. It would then fluctuate depending on the
demand and supply for that property. It will then give a true reflection of the price of
the underlying asset (Aziz, 2007).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the changes affected how his section completed their daily duties and his direct chain

acquired additional Soldiers and equipment. The U.S. Army did not seem to have any

through Permanent Change of Station (PCS) thus allowing more junior enlisted
positions to become available. Recruiters then fill the junior enlisted positions without

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Crop Protection
Crop protection is bought by horticultural makers, including agriculturists, farmers,
and others to ensure themselves against either the loss of their harvests because of
common debacles, for example, hail, dry spell, and surges, or the loss of income
because of decreases in the costs of agrarian things. The two general classifications
of product protection are called crop yield protection and harvestincome protection.
A rancher or producer might yearning to grow a harvest connected with a specific
characterized trait that possibly meets all requirements for a premium over
comparative merchandise crops, horticultural items, or subsidiaries thereof. The
specific quality might be connected with the hereditary structure of the product,
certain administration practices of the cultivator, or both. Be that as it may, numerous

Slumdog Millionaire Theme Symbolism
Although the setting of Slumdog Millionaire by Danny Boyle and A Girl Walks
Home Alone At Night by Ana Lily Amirpour are different, they both use the plot
structure and symbolism to present the common theme: the destiny, which can be
shaped by choices and actions.
The life story of the protagonist Jamal Malik in Slumdog Millionaire is built
through the game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and a series of his
flashbacks revealing how his life experiences gave him the right answers to every
quiz question in the show. It displays the way he formed his destiny. On the day
when running away from the Hindu rioters who brutally killed his mother just
because of the religious difference, Jamal accidentally met Latika. Driven by the ...

Lack of education, he hardly could know the answers to the quiz on a wide range
of topics. However, he won the top prize of the show and became a millionaire.
There is no answer to his happy ending other than It is written , or, It is destiny .
Jamal s destiny is the result of his actions. If he had not earned an honest living by
being a chaiwallah at a mobile phone company s call center, he would never have
known how to get the chance to join the game show. If he had not been a contestant
on the game show, he would never have become the millionaire. He tried to change
the life he was given, created his own life, chose the paths he took that made him
who he is ultimately destined to become. Finding Latika at the railway station in the
last scene of the film, he said, This is our destiny (1:47:56). Eventually, a young
uneducated man whose life was full of poverty and tragedy got his destiny, becoming
a millionaire and enjoying the true love after many painful life experiences.
A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night portrays the main character The Girl as scary
and lethal, but human in both appearance and motive. She is a chador wearing
female vampire who wanders in Bad City at night to stalk. Parallelly, she is also a
pretty young girl wearing a striped shirt and putting on lipstick, preying on immoral
men. She created her own destiny and shaped it with her choices and actions. The

Dichotomy Of Happiness Essay
I.Introduction:
a.Main Topic: The dichotomy of happiness; two different feelings and their impacts;
How to achieve happiness each type of happiness.
b.Intro Paragraph: Happiness can be best described as the end goal of life. If a person
is living a life void of happiness, they are often times seen as worse off, and most
likely are. One who lives their life in search of amassing happiness may be doing it
for their own happiness, or for the betterment of someone else; either way someone
is living in order to achieve happiness. Even from a young age people act in ways
that allot them happiness, such as a young child eating their favorite type of snack or
candy, a person taking up a hobby, or someone who consistently adds to a retirement

c.The second type is long lasting, involves content for one s life. Maslow s hierarchy
of needs introduces the belief that in order to achieve happiness underlying
precautions must be met. This furthers the idea that a higher and more important
happiness exists than the first type. Annas also seems to understand the dichotomy
and references the idea of a higher happiness.
III.Second Argument: Happiness can be achieved. Each type of happiness requires
different actions in order to be achieved. Both types can exist at the same time, and
some actions may cause both types to occur, but a fundamental difference remains.
(They are not different types because of how they are achieved, but rather the feeling
(s) they offer. Since they are different they often times require different actions)
a.The first type of happiness can be achieved through simple actions being happy is
easily taken to be feeling happy...a kind of smiley face feeling. Annas pg. 45
b.The second type requires more moral work. If happiness, then, is activity
expressing virtue, it is reasonable for it to express the supreme virtue, which will be
the virtue of the best thing...Hence complete happiness will be its activity expressing
its proper virtue; and we have said that this activity is the activity of study. Aristotle

Catcher In The Rye Symbolism
I spent my whole childhood wishing I were older and now I m spending my
adulthood wishing I were younger. Ricky Schroder. Some may want to grow old
and some may want to stay young forever. Holden Caulfield describes his massive
fears of change through symbolizes in his quick break of from school. J.D. Salinger
displays throughout the revolutionary novel, Catcher in the Rye, that the wild that
live in the pond in Central Park, New York, symbolizes multiple fears to Holden
Caulfield. The lake that Holden refers to in the novel symbolizes the the change
from childhood to adulthood. Holden, a very intelligent but cynical boy, has recently

Another thought Holden receives as he is speaking to his old and sick history
teacher pops up: I was wondering where the ducks went when the lagoon got icy
and frozen over. I wondered if some guy came in a truck and took them away to a
zoo or something. Or if they just flew away (16). If the ducks fly away they have
to find new paths and places to live. Flying away displays their freedom and
unpredictable travel. If some guy came in a truck and took them to the zoo , the
ducks at the zoo s life would be the same day in and day out like a child going to
each class in the same order everyday. As Holden was getting a ride in the cab to a
club called Ernie s, he asked the driver a question: You know the ducks that swim
around in the pond? In the springtime and all? (91) The springtime is when Holden
is home. In the winter, Holden is always starting a new start in a new school, so
naturally Holden wonders about these ducks. The springtime and winter refers to
the cycle of Holden s life. After having a long talk with an old friend, Holden
stopped by the pond again at night time: I figured I d go by that little lake and see
what the hell the ducks were doing, see if they were around or not. I still don t
know if they were around or not. (170). Holden can t picture how the ducks leave so
abruptly once winter starts like he can t see where his own childhood went. He is
Blue Bracket Case Study
A three run home run in the bottom of the seventh by Alex Bishop and an
insurance run in the eighth by UT Tyler spoiled a comeback by the LeTourneau
University baseball team in the opening round game of the 2016 ASC Baseball
Tournament Blue Bracket. The matchup was a rematch of the last two champions
of the American Southwest Conference Tournament. The Patriots (26 15) tied the
game in the sixth at 4, then a three run blast by Bishop over the right field wall put
UT Tyler ahead 7 4. Bishop and the top five in the UT Tyler order accounted for
nine of the 12 hits to support six different pitchers in the win. LeTourneau (15 21)
quickly found itself behind 3 0 in the first inning before scoring twice in the fifth
and sixth inning to take a 4 3 lead. Sophomore Rayne Hobbs had three hits to lead
an eight hit attack for the YellowJackets. Freshman Andrew Harlan was the losing
pitcher after allowing nine hits, seven runs (four earned) and striking out three in the
loss to fall to 4 7.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
LeTourneau capitalized on a pair of defensive miscues by UT Tyler in the fifth to
cut the deficit to one, 3 2. In the inning, senior Dylan Wadyko reached on a fielding

Sellers reached on a wild pitch on strike three and Wadyko moved to third to put

Imagine stillness in time letting you know, that your life was going to end in a
matter of minutes. In Grace Period, it tells a story about a man s experience in a
nuclear explosion. Panic and survival instinct kick in as nuclear repercussions occur.
When reading, Nuclear Weapon Effects, it helps create a better understanding of
what is happening throughout, Grace Period. Comparing this short story and article
allows readers to decipher what is about to take place in this man s life.
During a nuclear explosion, there are four major steps of the process. Within
Nuclear Weapons Effects, each of these steps is explained. The first occurrence is a
flash and fireball. The second step is the shock wave. A firestorm takes third place.
Followed by this is a delayed radiation fallout. Before these main stages are obvious

This is mentioned towards the end of Grace Period. You look out the window once
more, as the house begins to shudder, and see that it is growing brighter and brighter
and brighter. (Baker, 9) Due to that, it is a good assumption that this was the first
stage of the explosion. With that information we can understand that this man did not
survive. After the flash, there are three more stages. The initial rapid expansion of the
fireball severely compresses the surrounding atmosphere, producing a powerful blast
or shock wave. (Nuclear Weapon Effects, 1) This fireball expands so quickly that it
causes a shock wave. A nuclear explosion leaves everything in the surrounding area
radioactive. Grace Period, gives people a glimpse of the thoughts and reactions which

Earthquakes In Southern California
There is no shortage of earthquakes in Southern California. On any given day this
area sees numerous earthquakes, though most are barely even felt. The concern here
is what will happen when another earthquake occurs in a large dense area such as Los
Angeles County, California. One question concerns earthquakepreparedness of
residents in this region. Do residents know what to do in order to prepare for an
earthquake? Are residents prepared for a medium to large sized earthquake? Another
question is, how prepared are buildings when it comes to the shaking from a medium
to large earthquake? Will these buildings protect residents and employees, or do they
pose a severe threat when faced with another earthquake?

In order to map earthquake hazard zones correctly geologists found that not only
should they be mapping historic earthquake epicenters but also a detailed map of
every single fault line. Not until the deadly Long Beach earthquake of 1933 did
politicians and engineers feel the need to start earthquake proofing the structures
around them (Mualchin 2011). With the passing of the Field Act school buildings in
particular were constructed with earthquake safety in mind. But the Field Act only
covered schools. It wasn t until the San Fernando earthquake of 1971 where major
infrastructure and hospitals were severely damaged that more policies were put in
place to earthquake proof these structures (Mualchin 2011). The schools which were
structurally designed to withstand earthquakes from the Field Act faired surprisingly
well during this earthquake. The new policies that followed the San Fernando
earthquake required hospitals and infrastructure to be designed to withstand an
earthquake, also they required rupture hazard zones to be mapped so that

The Communication Differences Between Men And Women
Essay
What would the average person say if asked them. What are the communication
differences between men and women? Would it be something like women talk about
shoes, and men talk about sports? Or maybe something along the lines of women talk
all the time and men hardly speak at all. What if I said that assumption is correct.
Well, not entirely of course. As it turns out, men and women have some fundamental
communicative differences. This is also very much a generalization, and I would not
think includes persons who identify as different genders.
From an early age little boys and little girls communicate differently. Girls tend to
play in pairs, while boys arrange themselves in groups, and group play breeds the
competitive spirit, (Strauss). Harvard evolutionary biologist Joyce Benenson
speculates that the instinct for men to align themselves in groups goes way back in
human history. Men hunted in groups, and so they had to learn to get along quickly
in a bunch, and this quality was supposedly bred into men through natural selection,
(Strauss). This might be proven further by another study including, 6 8 month old
human infants using a preferential looking models. Results showed that relative to
females, males looked more at the group versus the individual stimuli. The results are
consistent with an evolutionary mechanism that produced sex differences in the
organization of relationships in human society, (Abstract). Why is this important?
Well, as far as communication is
Examples Of Irony In Trifles

Mr.Hale says Well, women are used to worrying over trifles. Then the women go on

Texas Indians In the Great Plains and Mountain Basin Regions
Work Edited by: Kobe Jones and Keaton Kirk.
The main Indian tribes that lived in the Great Plains and Mountain Basin region were
the Tigua, Comanche, Apache, Kiowa, and Jumano. The Comanche were a fierce
tribe who rivaled the Apaches and eventually ended up pushing them out of Texas.
They originally lived in mountains until they acquired horses in the 1600s and
became powerful and mobile, thus deciding to move southwest to find more
mustangs, buffalo, and a warmer climate. Together with their exceptional fighting
skills and horse riding skills, the Comanche quickly controlled most of the Plains
region and became very wealthy. They were able to follow the buffalo as nomads
and use this animal as a resource for almost everything. They also could trade their
buffalo goods with other tribes and make a profit. The Comanche would skin the
animal and use it for moccasins, leggings, breechcloths, teepee coverings, and
skirts for men and women. The tribe was organized with a war chief and peace
chief. The tribe believed in good and bad spirits including the Great Spirit which
they would smoke a pipe to. Men in the tribe were warriors and would steal horses
from other tribes and people. If they were killed the tribe would kill their horse also
and put them in a trench. The Kiowa were another greatly feared and hostile tribe that
strongly resisted European influence in their lives. They originally resided in

What Is The Relationship Between The Absorption Of...
Due to the close relationship between the absorption of triglycerides and fat soluble
vitamins, disorders of fat absorption are invariably always associated with a
disorder of the absorption of fat soluble vitamins. Esters of fat soluble vitamins,
dissolved in nutritional fat, are hydrolyzed in the intestinal lumen by pancreatic
carboxylic ester hydrolases (Ballard et al., 2007, Reboul and Borel, 2011). The
underlying mechanisms of water soluble vitamins being absorbed are more complex
and less uniform than those of the fat soluble vitamins. Some water soluble vitamins,

The glucomannan konjac mannan has a lowering effect on vitamin E absorption in
healthy volunteers and in diabetic patients (Jenkins et al., 20001). This could be
demonstrated with the vitamin E tolerance test when the glucomannan was added to
the test meal. It is uncertain whether there are relations between vitamin K
metabolism and ingestion of dietary fiber. Investigations on the influence of dietary
fiber on vitamin K absorption and serum vitamin K concentration are not available.
The prothrombin and thromboplastin times of diabetics who were treated with a
high fiber diet (25 to 35 g dietary fiber per 1000 kcal) for an average of 21 months
remained unchanged. This indicates that the high fiber diet does not impair
vitamin K absorption (Alonso Sande et al., 2009, Scholfield et al., 1990). The
underlying mechanisms of water soluble vitamins being absorbed are more
complex and less uniform than those of the fat soluble vitamins. Some water
soluble vitamins, such as folic acid, must be transformed in the intestinal lumen
prior to absorption. The influence of high and low fiber diets on urinary riboflavin
excretion was examined in healthy subjects. Compared to a control group receiving
a low fiber diet, coarse and fine bran, cellulose, and cabbage increased urinary
excretion for 8 h when 15 mg riboflavin 5 phosphate were administered orally with

Why isn t there an option to go into seventh grade undecided? After asking some
students about their decision making process, I found that it was not any easier to
make that decision in middle school than it will be for them in their adult years.
Many people who agree with this new system will argue that career clusters are
helpful to a student who is exploring a particular field more in depth. While this is
true, it is also restricting the students to only one particular field of study. Mr.
Burris states The big fear I is that we are going back to where we were at the
beginning of the last century, where we started sorting and selecting students, and
putting them on life paths that may foreclose their options. In my case, I would have
learned next to nothing about photography while studying with the rest of the
students in the Health and Wellness cluster. If I had chosen photography just to find
that I d rather help people than make art, I would have still been stuck in the Digital

Analysis Of Disgrace By J. M. Coetzee
The three literary qualities, namely the test of time, its availability and impact on
life as well as the ability to gain understanding of the era in which the book is
written, will be identified in the three preselected works in order to determine
whether these can be considered as literature. Firstly, the novel Disgrace is
evaluated according to the three literary qualities. The novel Disgrace by J.M.
Coetzee is written in 1999. This means that the most important quality, the test of
time, is not yet valid for Disgrace . The novel is written 16 years ago and does not
comply to Dr Johnson s thought that a book has passed the test of time when the
book is still read after a hundred years.
Even though, the book is written recently, the book has made an impact on the social,
cultural and academic factors in South Africa. The book deals with the issues of the
post apartheid era in South Africa which started, after the change of the government
in 1994. These issues are often related to the social, cultural and academic factors
which people have experienced after the apartheid era has ended. Moreover, the

John legend is my favourite song for numerous reasons. The song itself is calm and
sincere which makes me feel calm and at peace whenever it is on. You can t help but
love his melodious voice as it blends in perfectly with the music. The lyrics
themselves are great and meaningful, but the combination with the right sound is
what makes it even more enjoyable.
SECTION 3 WHY IS HE MY FAVOURITE?
John Roger Stephens is not only an inspirational artist, but an overall amazing person.
There are many things that I like about him, that make me an even bigger fan. Three

Compare And Contrast The Outsiders And To Kill A
Mockingbird
The Outsiders and To Kill a Mockingbird are very similar in many different ways.
The greasers in The Outsiders and Scout and Jem were different then the other
children and adults in the book. They also share two similar themes: Nothing is as
it seems and People are different all around. If you think about it Ponyboy, Cherry,
Jem, and Scout are very similar in characteristics too. They all see the same sunset,
and you everyone s the same kind of persontoo, no matter how they are.
The Outsiders section shows the scene where Cherry s asking Ponyboy after the
movies if he reads a lot and then goes on to ask if he also watches sunsets. She then
proceeds to mention how she used to watch the sunset until she got too busy. Then
Ponyboy goes into his thoughts and tried to imagine Cherry watching the sunset at
her patio like he watched it from his back steps. Then he continues to narrates his
thoughts Maybe the two different worlds we lived in weren t so different. We saw
the same sunset. Many people take this passage part in different ways. The way I
see it is that no matter where you stand in life other people are with you and they
know what you are going through. No matter what troubles you in life, there are
going to be people who understands you and has walked the same road before or they
are on the path also with you. People are never to far apart.
To Kill a Mockingbird section shows the scene where Scout asked Aunt Alexandra if
Walter Cunningham could come over one day to
Beltway Sniper Murders
The beltway sniper was a shooting spree that occurred in different areas throughout
Washington DC, the Metropolitan area, and Virginia, in October, 2002. It was a
two men rampage committed by John Allen Muhammad, who was the leader of
the attacks, and his accomplice Lee Boyd Malvo. An interesting fact is that Malvo
was only 17 years old when he participated in the three week reign of terror. They
did not have a specific objective because random civilians were shot and killed
during three weeks. There was a total of ten deaths, and three more critically
wounded. They were also connected with seven more deaths and three people
injured in previous crimes. First, their main goal was to take down Muhammad s
ex wife. By killing people at random, the ex wife s murder would look like just
another tragic death in the sniper s killing list. Fortunately, for the ex wife,
Muhammed was unable to reach his goal and she was not killed or injured by him.
Their base of operations was a 1990 Chevrolet Caprice sedan. The car was used as a
rolling sniper s nest. It was the perfect component for their evil and horrific plan
because it was an effective getaway. They prepared... Show more content on

Police s lack of evidence made the investigation harder and the hints received did
not contributed in accelerating the process. The only evidence at first was a death
card . Also, people started to give misleading statements that they saw the murderer
escaped in a white van. A guy was arrested for giving false information to the police
by saying that he saw the sniper escaped in a white van with one tail light broken.
Going back to the phone call, the sniper mentioned an unsolvable murder committed
in Alabama. It was a liquor store robbery and it was the place where investigators
found the first major evidence to show the murderer s identity; a fingerprint of Lee
Boyd Malvo, which later led to his guardian, John Allen
The s Speech Of Archidamus
It is remarkable how timeless the Speech of Archidamus is. One could easily
imagine the Spartan King were speaking to a modern occupied territory, itching for a
revolt. King Archidamus urges the Spartans to head caution when entering war with
Athens. He has seen too many wars [pg 25, 80] The battles he has witnessed in his
lifetime have swayed him of any naive fascination with war. He has learned that
violence begets violence, so one should only enter a battle they are prepared to win.
Archidamus explains that Athens is stronger in terms of wealth, military might and
political power. If the Spartans take the offensive route under these circumstances,
they will surely loose both in combat and in terms of public relations. [pg 26, 81]
Furthermore, Archidamus explains later that Athens had agreed to mediation, making
any fight that Spartawere to start an unlawful preemptive attack. [pg 28, 85] The
King assures his people he is not blind to their suffering, he just envisions better
ways of ending it. [pg 26, 82] One of these methods would be to create partnerships
with other nations who would lend armed forces and capital to the cause. To be done
in tandem with confederation would be the accumulation of Sparta s assets.
Archidamus predicts that under these circumstances, Athens could be motivated to
surrender. Under the very different circumstances from which he is speaking, the
King pushes to avoid war at all costs citing that complaints can be resolved, whether

Air Raids In The Book Thief
The air Raids were not ethical in the book thief. The air raids were constant and
came out randomly. Several days before Christmas, 1942, there s another air raid
(Zusak 442). These air raids have killed many people who might have not
supported the ideas the Nazis were fighting for. Theft is never right. The world
would be in chaos and panic if we all took what we wanted, like liesel did. For
liesel, stealing books excited her and gave the books more meaning. Although
something inside her told that this was a crime, her three books were the most
precious item she owned (Zusak 109). This shows how she loved books and even
if getting them by stealing was a crime she would still do it. Protecting a person is
never not right. At times it could be risky, but an innocent deserves being
protected. Hubermann held his hand out and presented a piece of bread, like
magic (Zusak 349). Hans did this because he thought it was the right thing to do,
which defines his character. Liesel growing up without her biological parents does
affect the way she perceives others. Liesel does not want to lose anyone else, like
she did her mother and father. Don t go, papa. Please. (Zusak 423). Hans is
someone that Liesel cannot let go and does not want to lose her parents again. Hans
is right to help out Jews, like Max because Max was in the position that he could be
saved. Max can survive by hiding with the Hubermanns. However, giving bread to
heavily guarded Jews was pointless because it
Sling Blade Essay
Sling Blade
Film directed by and screen play by Billy Bob Thornton.
Theme
Sling Blade s main theme is the redemption of Karl s lost childhood. Karl Childer s
overly religious parents believed he was a punishment from God. They severely
abused him, treated him like an animal, and forced him to live in a shed in
solitude. Everyone in town picked on him and called him names. He was seen as a
retard or slower than others. He had little to call his own. His only possessions were a
Bible and several books on Christmas and carpentry. Karl was taught the Bible as a
child, but it wasn t really the Bible. The stories they told him were not in the Bible.
His parents had made up their own stories and had led him astray on the rights and
wrongs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through a deadly crime, Karl freed his young friend from a life of pain and despair,
only to end up back where he began at the nut house . The choice of right or wrong
seemed to make good and evil equal.
The main point of Sling Blade was to convey the message that sometimes wrong can
be right. Symbolically, killing with the switchblade represents for cutting away the
troubles that get in the way. Sling Blade was a subjective film. It seduces the
audience to emphasize with Frank and Karl and think the way the director wants.
Elements
The first element I found that supported the theme was the script. The actors
dialogues shaped the characters roles. Karl adopted a new dialect. He picked up a
backwoods, disturbed, monotone, punctuated by a throaty um hmmm . Karl s
dialogue showed that he spoke in a simple way. He avoided complicated, fancy
language. He spoke like a child, slow and easy, while the others in the movie
indicated more education through their speaking. Karl explained the way he was
treated as a child, his love for Frank, and his fear of Doyle. His moments of silence
revealed his reflection, his caged up behavior, and his childlike manner. Karl s
words shaped him as gentle and to the point. Karl told Frank s mamma she s good
for Frank. He let people know their worth. At the end Karl stated, the world was too
big . He
Nationalism in the Middle East
The concept of identity in a person s life often emanates from systemized sense of
social representations and relations. Actors in the identity criterion have a sense of
belonging characterized by a capacity of self reflection, entailing a process that
constantly reaffirms one s status and differentiation from others. Identity produces
consciousness of action and becomes formalized, with symbolic character and
recognition found within specific limitations that are confined in a particular
environment (Montserrat 10). Therefore, an individual s uniqueness directly creates a
singular person s identity, which is an essential element in the development of
national identity. It is the summation of those individuals identities that leads... Show

However, the Middle East nationalism process was delayed in comparison with the
European nationalism because the Arab world possessed unique aspects due to
cultural, political and religious features that were associated with the colonial rule.
Due to the aspect of their likeness in terms of language trait, Arab nationalist in the
Middle East had a greater appeal for nationalism, despite the shifting political
alliances.
Despite having identical cultural orientations, the Arab nationalists had consciousness
identity difficulties because they were under the Ottoman Empire for a long time.
Arguably, in the first stages of Arab nationalists movements, European powers had
sought to simulate the its development trends in Arab inhabited territories in order to
facilitate dismantling of the Ottoman empire, which still continued to maintain its
influence, even after its disintegration. Conversely, after the fall of Ottoman Empire,
European countries tried to obstruct the promotion of Pan Arabism attempting to
achieve unity, thus hindering them to develop the Pan Arabism nationalist trend
(Gerber 263). However, the tribal and multi confessional diversity among the Arabs
presented a challenge in achieving the unity goal. Moreover, the Arabs were also
divided on religious aspects, thus disadvantaging
The Theme Of War By Edwin Starr, And Happy Christmas
War, a brutal, barbaric and animalistic concept that contradicts the essence of being
human. War by Edwin Starr, and Happy Christmas by John Lennon are songs
promoting the anti war movement. Released in 1970 and 1972, whilst the war of
Vietnam continues, both of these song depicts tone and mood through the themes
love, peace and unity. Both artists has incorporated literary devices within the lyrics
to convey the message and resonate it towards the audience.
Edwin Starr s War, and John Lennons Happy Christmas, demonstrates the
catastrophe created by war. Through their songs, the necessity of peace is
emphasised for the future of the world. Oh, war, I despise cause it means
destruction of innocent lives, war means tears to thousands of mother s eyes. When
their sons go to fight, and lose their lives. It is evident that the lyrical terms
formulates imagery, further empowering the message. In Happy Christmas,
juxtaposition has been implemented to foreshadow the bright future if war is
eradicated. A very merry Christmas, and a happy new year, let s hope it s a good
one without any fear. The audience is able to empathise with both of these songs,
war means tears to thousands of mother s eyes. This line resonates with people young
and old, mothers are considered the backbone, and always guiding their children to a
bright path. Someone who gave them life and should always be internally grateful
for. Thus, the complete contrast of the message in the song Happy Christmas,
Roll Of Thunder Hear My Cry Analysis
Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry, by Mildred D. Taylor tells the story of Cassie, who
is learning about the conflict about blacks and whites. Set in 1930 s Mississippi,
the main character sees and begins to understand the separation between blacks
and whites, and how the whites did awful things in order to get the blacks to listen
to them. Then, many bad things happen, including Mama losing her job as a
teacher, and Papa getting severely injured, while the plans with the boycott did not
go as they originally were planned. At the climax of the story, T.J. goes off with
RW and Melvin Simmes to break into a store where T.J. s gun that he wanted was.
They ended up getting caught. In the end, the night riders try to kill T.J. Avery, a
close friend of the Logan children, and T.J. is sent to jail, awaiting a chain gang.
Cassie learns that there will be many things she will have to do in life that she does
not want to do, only in order to survive. Throughout the novel, both Mr. Ganger and
Papa illustrate why are characters in the book by showing how the blacks were
treated towards the whites and how most blacks felt towards whites because of this.
The author included Mr. Grangerin the story to illustrate how most whites felt
towards blacks and what extremes whites went to in order to get the blacks to listen
to them in order to create a conflict in the story by trying to stop the boycott, firing
Mama from her job, and asking for all of the Logan s land money at once. Mr.

Sensation Perception of Phantom Limb Pain
Alec S. Johnson
Ben Denkinger
University of Minnesota
Over time, doctors have seen countless patients that have complained of a strange
form of pain sensation called phantom limb pain. The pain that patients are
describing is occurring in appendages that are no longer part of their bodies. Many of
these amputees have described this pain as utterly unbearable. For the amputee
population, this is a very real problem that needs to be solved. Pain that is occurring
in phantom limbs is very common in amputees. Mostly all amputees experience the
sensation of phantom limb pain. Two thirds of patients experience phantom limb pain,
even 25 years after the loss of the limb. (Woodhouse) The vivid experience of a
phantom limb often includes non painful phantom sensations as which frequently
reported in patients with phantom pain (Woodhouse).
Amputees will not always come forward to their doctor regarding this pain because
they believe their brain is not functioning correctly. However, the brain... Show more

Phantom limb pain is not just a phenomenon associated with a stump. The brain has
not been damaged, and its areas of command and perception are still intact and in use.
Also, fitting prosthesis immediately after amputation while the patient is still under
anesthesia and then continuously beginning vibratory stimulus training may permit
the preservation of perception in the sensory cortex and become an important factor
in avoiding pain. The lower limb, although artificial is still sensed as being

Recruiting Talent
There are a number of factors that take place in order for the success of an
organization. It is not only the quality of the resources or the technology in the
organization that counts, but the employees and their valuable skills are also a huge
contributing factor for its success. This essay will discuss, how effective recruiting
can contribute to an organizations success.

global competitiveness and increased flexibility in labor market, the importance of
labor force planning in every business is increasing. One of the most important parts

Recruitment establishes a linking between the job pursuers and employers. By which,
it ensures the employment of correct applicants at the correct place at the accurate
time. Following the right recruitment procedures and practices simplifies the
selection of the appropriate applicants for the organization.
One can suggest that recruitment plays a significant role in strategic human resource
management as it is during this process that the ability and qualities of potential
employees are evaluated. Recruitment refers to any practice or activity carried out by
the organization with the prime purpose of recognizing and drawing would be
employees. They can be sourced from internal or external sources, direct applicants
and recommendations, advertisements, public or private organizations, electronic
recruiting, or universities. Recruitment is the process that identifies as well as hires

Justice System And The United States
In a case there are three sides, the defendants, the plaintiffs and the truth. Often
times the truth may be hard to find but when it is available, justice should be
served. That is where the justice system comes in and their job is suppose to allow
justice to be served. Over the years, the criminal justice system has lacked in that
area according to almost half of the United States citizens. Many may ask the
question, why? , but there is no definite answer for why the justice system has lacked
in its area of justice. The real question is, how? How can this be changed? That is the
question many American Citizens are asking. The American justice system is lacking
in the area of justice in many ways. The United States has a Constitution that protects
its citizens from abuse in the criminal justicesystem. The right to a trial, to fair
treatment by law enforcement are enshrined. Importantly, the Eighth Amendment also
protects those convicted from cruel and unusual punishment. In spite of all this, the
American penal system is broken in many ways. Examples of this happening
throughout the United States are unfair punishments, prisonhealth care and sentencing
young children life in prison without parole.
The Justice system has been well known for its unfair rulings lately and that is just
sad. This is nothing new to society but it is a serious problem that needs to be fixed.
An example of unfair ruling and unfair trial would be the Scopes trial. This is a trial
that took

your home serves as that perfect place for relaxing. There are a lot of people who

How Successful Were The Leaders Of The Crusaders
In July 1099, the crusaders captured Jerusalem which indicates the successful
victory of the First Crusade. However, once the journey had ended, most of the
crusaders left the Holy Land and returned to their homes. Pope Urban II did not
specify how to govern Jerusalem and the crusade leaders refused to restore the lands
to the Byzantine Empire. Therefore, the crusade leaders, among themselves, elected
Godfrey of Bouillon as the king of Jerusalem. During his reign, Godfrey dedicated on
preserving the Christian churches and religious rules. Godfrey s successor, king
Baldwin, established the Latin kingdom of Jerusalemwith three principalities.

The king recognized that most farmlands belonged to the Muslim inhabitants in
exchange for half of their crops after harvesting. The houses and lands in designated
countryside areas belonged to the Muslims. When Ibn Jubayr travelled to the Holy
Land, he described his visit to a farm with a Muslim headman. The man s house was
wide enough for the guests to stay in. They had more freedom than living under the
Muslim rule since the king of Jerusalem gave them the rights to rule themselves in
their own villages. Additionally, the ruler showed tolerance toward the diversity of
the residents and their own faiths and hence there was no forced conversions. Some
churches were old mosques which still allowed Muslims to gather there and pray. The
Templars also welcomed Usamah ibn Munqidh to pray in the mosque al Aqsa. When
newcomers from the West physically forced Munqidh to face the east while praying,
the Templars expelled them from the temple for their disrespectful behavior.
Muniqidh commented that only the newcomers from the West were hostile toward the

My Favorite Pet Essay.pdfMy Favorite Pet Essay

  • 1. My Favorite Pet Essay Writing an essay on the topic of "My Favorite Pet" may initially seem like a straightforward task, as it involves expressing personal preferences and experiences. However, delving into the intricacies of such a seemingly simple topic can prove to be a challenging endeavor. The difficulty lies not only in articulating one's fondness for a particular pet but also in creating a compelling narrative that engages the reader. To begin with, selecting a favorite pet itself can be a daunting decision, especially for individuals who have had various animal companions throughout their lives. The emotional attachment to each pet adds a layer of complexity to the writing process, as one must carefully choose which experiences to highlight and how to convey the uniqueness of the bond. Furthermore, crafting an essay on this topic requires striking a balance between personal anecdotes and broader reflections on the significance of pets in one's life. It is not merely about listing the endearing qualities of the chosen pet but also about exploring the emotional impact and lessons learned from the companionship. This demands a thoughtful approach to storytelling and self-reflection. Developing a coherent structure for the essay poses another challenge. Ensuring a smooth flow of ideas, from introducing the pet to describing memorable moments and concluding with reflections, demands careful organization and planning. The writer must navigate the narrative to maintain reader interest and evoke a sense of connection to the shared experiences. In addition, finding the right tone and voice is crucial. Striking a balance between sincerity and engaging storytelling can be a delicate task. It requires a keen understanding of the target audience and an ability to convey the personal connection without veering into sentimentality or becoming overly mundane. In conclusion, while the topic of "My Favorite Pet" may seem straightforward, the process of writing an essay on this subject involves navigating through personal emotions, selecting and organizing experiences, and effectively communicating the significance of the relationship with the chosen pet. It is an intricate task that requires careful thought, creativity, and a mastery of language to truly capture the essence of the bond. For those who find themselves struggling with such writing endeavors, it's worth noting that help and assistance are readily available. Similar essays and a variety of writing services can be accessed through platforms like HelpWriting.net, offering support to those seeking guidance in expressing their thoughts and experiences effectively. • 2. Low Self Esteem Essay Juman Sayoury Christopher Baker PSCH 100 20 February 2017Stuck with Low Self Esteem? The concept of self esteem is widespread in life. When it comes to academics and extracurricular actives people associate high self esteem is necessary for success. Society makes promoting self esteem an important goal. With that in mind, it is surprising that only recently scientific literature began providing insight into the nature of development of self esteem. Self esteem is how an individual evaluates their worth as a person. It is not a person s talents or abilities or how they are seen by others It is seen as the feeling of not being good enough. However, that does not mean people with high self esteem view themselves as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, research indicates that individuals with certain personality traits are more likely to undergo increases in self esteem throughout life. Particularly individuals who are extroverted, emotionally stable, and hardworking are inclined to show more development in self esteem compared to those who lack these traits. Apart from levels of self esteem, another aspect is the degree of change when it comes to external factors, such as failure or success. Unexpected fluctuations in self esteem are not considered beneficial because it suggests that the individual does not have a stable sense of self worth. Studies show that as people go through their adolescent and middle adulthood years, self esteem levels become more constant. Is self esteem s stability more similar to mood, varying from different situations, or personality and intelligence? Two studies have studied the stability of individual differences in self esteem. Both studies proved that 70 85% of variance of self esteem was accounted for by trait factors. The real question is, does it matter if someone has high or low self esteem? Does high self esteem lead to better relationships, work, and health? Is self esteem a reflection of success in those areas? If so, improving self esteem will be beneficial in life. The general pattern found in studies proved that high self esteem is a predictor of life success. In situations where someone has very low
  • 3. Essay about Celebrity Role Models and Children During these times, once you turn on your television set you are abruptly notified on yet another absurd act that a celebrity had committed the night before. The media becomes engrossed by the despicable behavior and ravages at it as if it was the final grain of rice. Once they have completed a story that is at the right level of crudeness, they deliver it to the public. The vulgar news reaches households all across the world, and then it soon pollutes the minds of innocent and young children. At a young age, boys and girls commonly compare themselves with reference groups of people who occupy the social role to which they desire. The constant negative and sometimes provocative images that are displayed by celebrities are what define... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, the pop sensation, Britney Spears, was arrested five times in 2006 for driving while intoxicated. Britney Spears is one of 156 celebrities that are arrested per year for the same charges. If a child observes these crimes enacted by the celebrities, the actions demonstrate activities that can lead to jail time and deeply affect their future. In conclusion, a boy or girl should not look up to celebrities for their immoral and scandalous enterprises. In order to be a commendable role model, you must have the courage to perform what is virtuous. Although it may be difficult in front of all the lights and cameras, celebrities fail to have this trait and consequently cannot be seen as exemplars. Under any circumstance a role model must put the right foot forward and direct its followers to a better way of life. Famous people are consistently infected with what is known as the stardom disease . Despite a strong promise to stay moral, celebrities always find themselves spiraling into some form of turmoil. The cause of their downfalls is that they do not have the fortitude to remain on the righteous path and avoid doing what is wrong. Britney Spears did not have the bravery to reject the idea of getting drunk and marrying off to a man she did not truly love. As a result, her actions reflect her weakness and
  • 4. The Pros And Cons Of The Yuma Project The yuma project was first authorized in May 10,1904 and was the first irrigation project in Yuma. Thanks to the Yuma project many farms got water and the farms were finally able to produce goods. Once the project was done many people found out that Yuma had water and it was able to be transported to the farms, the population started to increase, but it didn t only just increased, it also decreased by a little, but later on population started to expand once more. Developers also faced many challenges, it wasn t easy for the developers to assemble the project. Something that was also a bit of a problem to them was the cost of building, repairing, and paying the workers when the project was being generated. The challenges that they had to face were not that simple. Many obstacles were placed in front when they were starting the project. According to the image provided by Knapp, while the Yuma Project was being created, it had... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There were negative impacts that they faced was when the Yuma Project was being created, that was what Atkins wrote and represented in what he had in the article written by him. He stated that the U.S. Department flood and drought was one of the problems. With that problem going on, the farms were not able to be farmed. So there was no irrigation so that meant that many or none of the business were able to get any produce from their farms so they wouldn t sell anything so their business would come down. With the irrigation problem going on the Southwest was having trouble with their farm. They weren t getting enough water for their farms so not many produce was coming out from them. To be able to help them they have to build a dam and also have to control the water that they have for it to be able to last. Yet, before they could help them they had to resolve the water rights thing for it to be able to take
  • 5. Line Clipping Is The Process Of Removing Lines LINE CLIPPING ALGORITHMS Line clipping is the process of removing lines /portions of lines that are outside of an area of interest. There are two main algorithms of line clipping namely: 1)Copen Sutherland 2)Liang Barsky Copen Sutherland This algorithm is used to detect and dispense with two trivial cases and in order to clip a line we are required to consider only the end points. When the endpoints of a specific line lie inside the window then it can be said to be trivially accepted and clipping is not required. Clipping occurs when both endpoints of a line lie entirely to one side of the window thus indicating that the line entirely lies outside of the window hence trivial rejection and the line needs to be clipped. Inside Outside Window Codes The Copen Sutherland algorithm sets up a half space code for the endpoints so as to determine whether the endpoints are inside or outside the window. An infinite line is defined by every edge of the window which divides the entire space into two half spaces (the inside half space and the outside half space) Fig 1.1 During the trivial acceptance and rejection tests the edges of the window are extended so as to divide the window planes into 9 regions. The end points of the respective line are then assigned the code of the region in which it lies. 1)Given a line with endpoint L1 =(x1, y1) and L2 = (x2, y2), we compute the 4 bit codes for the endpoints: If both codes are 0000 the line maybe said to completely lie
  • 6. The Use Of Sexual Gratification On College Campuses Hookups are a type of brief sexual relationship that typically occur on only one occasion between two people who are usually strangers or have briefly become acquainted (Paul, McManus Hayes, 2000). Hooking up may be considered to be the contemporary term for the older phrase one night stand which also implies a no strings attached interlude. In this sort of association, sexual gratification can be the primary goal, with companionship being a distant consideration. This variety of alliance can certainly involve both heterosexual and homosexual couples and can be facilitated through friends or like minded individuals. According to one study, this casual and non committal sexual encounter based form of interaction now finds itself as the predominating heterosexual relationship on college campuses (Stinson, 2010). It may be easy to see why this is the case as the lifestyles of students are busy ones and often little time is available to devote to what is necessary to maintain a more serious involvement. Friends with Benefits Friends with benefits relationships are generally considered to be a relationship that occurs between friends of the opposite sex who participate in sexual practices but view their bond as being non romantic (Hughes, Morrison, Asada, 2007). However, there is no reason to believe that this type of strictly platonic relationship cannot have its equivalent parallel with members of the same sex. There are advantages to this type of arrangement that are

  • 9. Cajun Culture Essays Nous sommes Acadiens. (We are Acadians.) Some outsiders see us as a quaint, virtuous people, spending a great deal of time singing, dancing, praying, and visiting? (Conrad, 1978, p.14). Others see us as independent and unsophisticated. We see ourselves as fun loving, carefree, happy, proud people who have a great love for our culture. The Acadians were French settlers of eastern Canada who were exiled from their land in the 1750?s. The Acadians are known to have settled in the southern bayou lands of Louisianaaround that time. The music was original and they were proud of it. The Cajuns sang from the heart, and that is what made the music the best and only one of its kind. They expressed their love, joy, pain, and grief through song. Playing the accordion was an important accompaniment to their singing. This instrument gave Cajun music its remarkable sound and beat. French songs sung by the Cajuns many times reflected their language. Slang phrases such as ?oh yai yi?, an expression of grief or pain, and ?Aaeeh? were shouted during the song when no lyrics were sung. One particular phrase used most often in French love songs was ?oh, petite ch #233;rie?, which meant ?dear little girl.? A few French songs that became well known around Acadiana in the 1920?s and 1930?s were ?J?ai Pass #233; Devant ta Porte,? (I Passed in Front of Your Door), and ?Saute Crapaud,? (Jump Frog). The most well known Cajun French song ever depicted is ?Jolie Blonde? (Beautiful Blonde). It is popular not only in Acadiana but in many other places outside of Acadiana, Louisiana, and the United States, even though many do not understand the Cajun French language. The unique style and beat of Cajun music will never be forgotten, nor will it ever die out. For these reasons and many more, Cajun French music will always ?laissez le bon temps rouler? • 10. Family Is The Most Significant Impact On My Life Family is my everything. Family has shaped both my character and my identity; however, my sister has had the most significant impact on me. My sister, Jordan, and I grew up as any typical sisters would. We never saw eye to eye and fought over who borrowed whose shirt. That all changed the summer going into my freshman year of high school and her freshman year of college. Jordan s dream college was Arizona State University and unfortunately we were still living in Colorado at the time. My family was in nowhere of a financial position to be sending her out of state. We were faced with the ultimatum of either moving to Arizona or sacrificing her college dream. The move to Arizona was mutually difficult for us. For the first time we were both in a vulnerable state of mind and it was essential to rely on each other for support. This situation taught me about the importance of sacrifice. I was a tenacious and selfish teenager who needed to learn what it meant to sacrifice for loved ones. That is something Jordan enlightened me on. That first year rapidly changed the dynamic of our sisterhood. She was no longer solely my sister; but, she was my ally, therapist, critic, teacher, and most of all best friend. Each year that I mature, I learn and strive to me more like my sister. She has influenced my identity even more than I would perceive possible. She has taught me to be strong. In the middle of high school, my parents had decided to get a divorce. This decision opened up an entire

Nothing more, nothing less, just a piece of paper stating that I had been involved. A certificate that, at the time, I was proud to have. I felt accomplished, as if I had attained some monumental achievement. Not everyone was lucky enough to even participate, so who was I to complain about not doing anything special enough to receive a plaque, like the girl two spaces down from me. Never, in my life, have I ever been told that I am not enough. I ve always met the expectations of my peers and authority figures, and I was comfortable with continuing in this manner. I was content with meeting the status quo, and kept myself from reaching

His father gave henry a pocket watch when henry was thirteen years old. Henry took the watch a part and put it back together. Many people were amazed and ask henry to work on their watches. Henry Ford s model T. and the assembly line are important turning points in American history. Before 1908 automobiles were a luxury item that only the rich could afford. Henry ford devised a cheaper and faster way to manufacture cars. The model T. was assembled on an assembly line which produced more cars in the less time. Henry worked on the family farm for several years. However, he did not like that type of work. He left the farm at the age of 16 to work in Detroit as an apprentice as a machinist. During this time, henry ford learned to service and operate machinery. He also studied bookkeeping during the time period. Ford married Clara Ala Bryant in 1888. He then went back to farming in order to support her and their son, Edsel. Three years after returning to farming he went to work for Edison illuminating company as an engineer. • 13. Examples Of Misfortunes In Romeo And Juliet There are many misfortunes that occur in Shakespeare s piece, Romeo and Juliet. In this play, there are two families the Montagues and Capulets. These two families have an ongoing feud, but trouble begins to surface when two teenagers under these households fall in love. These two characters (Romeo and Juliet) continue with their love in secrecy. Romeo is soon banished and Juliet finds herself in an arranged marriage. In order to get out of her situation, Juliet fakes her death and plans to run away with Romeo. Unaware her death was fake, Romeo decides to kill himself. When Juliet finds him dead, she kills herself as well. Once their families learn of their deaths and secret love, their feud is ended. Throughout this play, the characters blame fate for the tragedies that occur. However, fate has no role in this well known piece of Shakespeare s work. Washington was an american author, writer, educator, orator, and advisor to presidents of the U.S.A. ; W.E.B Du Bois was a Pan Africanist, author, writer, editor American sociologist, historian, and civil rights activist. Both outstanding men in their time, an unmeasurable amount of work achieved, and in both done in the 19th century. By using different aspects of their childhood, accomplishments, and view on civil rights both men can be compared and contrasted emancily. To begin this educated journey ,Booker T. Washington s childhood creates an uplifting effect towards any person. Booker T. Washington s effort just to have an education was incredible just by itself, having to work many hours before an after school just to make up for the work that was lost when he was in school. Booker T. Washington was born in Franklin County, Virginia around the 1850s, Booker T. Washington spent his early childhood as a slave. Chasing emancipation, Washington (like many Blacks) felt that a formalized education was the more efficient way to improve his living accommodations. Due to social segregation, the availability of education to blacks was unreasonable limited. Any student would have a horrendous attitude towards this, but not Booker T. Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies Transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs), or Prion diseases, are a group of neurodegenerative disorders which include but is not limited to kuru, Creutzfeldt Jakob disease (CJD), Gerstmann StrГ¤ussler Scheinker (GSS) syndrome, and fatal familial insomnia in men, natural scrapie in sheep, goats and mufflons. The first records of neurodegenerative disease which would later be linked to Prions were made about two hundred years ago. It was in the 1950 s it was discovered that Prion disease could be transmitted horizontally, in addition to being inheritable and spontaneous. These findings were sought out by isolated tribes of the New Guinea that were suffering from high prevalence of a particular TST called Kuru. Some additional history of Prion disease dates back to the 1980 s when an increasing number of cows in the UK became infected with Mad Cow Disease also known as Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy. This unfortunate epidemic was traced back to a food supplement that was fed to the cows, this supplement contained mean and bone meal from dead sheep. A speculation was then drawn that the BSE had been a result of the sheep that had suffered from scrapie, which is a sheep specific Prion disease. As a result it was decided by the British government that the banning of animal derived feed supplements. This helped to decrease the disease of cattle which subsequently disrupted the spread of the disease amongst livestock and animals. It wasn t until 1996 that the appearance

You may never know the reason behind all of these myths, but one thing is certain, and that is the fact that the myths should be busted. When talking about Omaha, I would seldom hear people say that aces never win in Omaha, as if the card possesses some mystical power. Basically, pocket aces are two card hands in a game wherein a five card hand wins. Some people would regard aces as nothing special, and sometimes not even a part of the playable hand. Such as flopping a set, taking aces for granted will surely spell losing. Aces have the tendency to take over good Omaha hands which simply connote Omaha hands having one ace in them. However,... I personally think if your making even a partial income through online poker you are in fact a pro in many aspects. My experience with online poker was a wild ride and still continues to be. I only play No Limit Texas Hold Em and to quote the movie Rounders In No Limit not only can you watch a man lose all his chips in a single hand, but his mind along with it . I got my start playing a few small cash games at college with friends, losing to my one friend quite often. Off and on I dabbled in online poker to brush up on my skills and have some fun. I ve also played in small tournaments, my largest in person one being with over 150 people. One day I decided to take the financial plunge and play for cash online. Within a few hours my initial bankroll quadrupled; I felt I was playing excellent poker with some added luck of course. I of course hit a bad beat and my bankroll dwindled; within a week I lost not only my initial bankroll but more then I would ve liked to from my financial portfolio. So heres a few tips from my real world experience and I think advice others would support as well especially relevant in online poker. Most poker sites will let you set a deposit limit; Full Tilt where I play was nice enough to set the minimum limit after my string of bad beats which protects me from letting my emotions get the best of me. Make sure your bankroll is enough to pad your playing for a while. Always do the max buy in at a table (advice I didn t heed early on) so you can survive the blinds

Understanding Gerlad s writings of The History and Topography of Ireland and The Journey Through Wales and the Description of Wales can only be done when analyzed in context. It is vital to evaluate how his diverse background and calculated reasons for the descriptions of the Welsh and Irish peopleinfluenced his writing. And furthermore, it is imperative to use Gerald s writings to consider if his writings accurately reflect English attitudes of Ireland and Wales. Interpreting Gerald and determining if his writings reflected views of the English is not a simple answer. To answer the question, Gerald himself must be categorized. While being one quarter Welsh from his grandmother, a Princess of Wales, he had a variety of life experiences that classify him as something else (Gransden 160). Effects Of War On The Army And National Guard Essay Effects of War on the Army vs National Guard The Soldier started his career in the United States (U.S.) Army in 1987, completing Basic Training (BT) and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Ft. His initial active duty enlistment was for three years but due to Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, the Soldier fell under Operation Stop Loss, delaying his initial expiration term of service (ETS) date by six months. During his enlistment with the U.S. Army, he saw a couple of major changes within the Modified Table of Organization and Equipment (MTOE). Each of these changes resulted in his current unit changing in strength and equipment. Although at the time, this young Soldier did not completely understand the complexity of the changes, he did understand how the changes affected how his section completed their daily duties and his direct chain of command. For example, the U.S. Army s Field Artillery units changed from a three by six gun concept to three by eight units. With this change, artillery firing batteries acquired additional Soldiers and equipment. The U.S. Army did not seem to have any issues filling vacant positions with enlisted Soldiers, Non commissioned Officers (NCOs), or Officers. This MTOE change caused growth, which allowed promotions through Permanent Change of Station (PCS) thus allowing more junior enlisted positions to become available. Would it be something like women talk about shoes, and men talk about sports? Or maybe something along the lines of women talk all the time and men hardly speak at all. What if I said that assumption is correct. Well, not entirely of course. As it turns out, men and women have some fundamental communicative differences. This is also very much a generalization, and I would not think includes persons who identify as different genders. From an early age little boys and little girls communicate differently. Girls tend to play in pairs, while boys arrange themselves in groups, and group play breeds the competitive spirit, (Strauss). Harvard evolutionary biologist Joyce Benenson speculates that the instinct for men to align themselves in groups goes way back in human history. Men hunted in groups, and so they had to learn to get along quickly in a bunch, and this quality was supposedly bred into men through natural selection, (Strauss). This might be proven further by another study including, 6 8 month old human infants using a preferential looking models. Results showed that relative to females, males looked more at the group versus the individual stimuli. The results are consistent with an evolutionary mechanism that produced sex differences in the organization of relationships in human society, (Abstract). Why is this important? The Comanche were a fierce tribe who rivaled the Apaches and eventually ended up pushing them out of Texas. They originally lived in mountains until they acquired horses in the 1600s and became powerful and mobile, thus deciding to move southwest to find more mustangs, buffalo, and a warmer climate. The prothrombin and thromboplastin times of diabetics who were treated with a high fiber diet (25 to 35 g dietary fiber per 1000 kcal) for an average of 21 months remained unchanged. Firstly, the novel Disgrace is evaluated according to the three literary qualities. The novel Disgrace by J.M. Coetzee is written in 1999. This means that the most important quality, the test of time, is not yet valid for Disgrace . Born on December 28, 1978 in Springfield Ohio, John showed musical potential at an early age. His grandmother taught him to play his first instrument, which was the piano. He grew up playing and singing in his church s choir. His talent at that age was amazing, labelling him a child prodigy. Growing up, he listened to music from Michael Jackson, LL Cool J, Boyz II Men, and MC Hammer, very influential African American artists. The beginning of the chorus is played in conjunct (step) motion, while the end is by leap (disjunct motion). The timbre of this music piece is piano and vocals, which can be heard throughout the entire song. The dynamics is a combination of mezzo piano and mezzo forte for the duration of the song. It stays at a constant medium level. The texture of this piece is Homophonic as it contains both harmony (chords) and melody. His voice serves as the melody while the piano accompaniment played in the background is the harmony. All of Me by John legend is my favourite song for numerous reasons. The song itself is calm and sincere which makes me feel calm and at peace whenever it is on. You can t help but love his melodious voice as it blends in perfectly with the music. They all see the same sunset, and you everyone s the same kind of persontoo, no matter how they are. The Outsiders section shows the scene where Cherry s asking Ponyboy after the movies if he reads a lot and then goes on to ask if he also watches sunsets. She then proceeds to mention how she used to watch the sunset until she got too busy. It was a two men rampage committed by John Allen Muhammad, who was the leader of the attacks, and his accomplice Lee Boyd Malvo. An interesting fact is that Malvo was only 17 years old when he participated in the three week reign of terror. They did not have a specific objective because random civilians were shot and killed during three weeks. There was a total of ten deaths, and three more critically wounded. They were also connected with seven more deaths and three people injured in previous crimes. First, their main goal was to take down Muhammad s ex wife. By killing people at random, the ex wife s murder would look like just another tragic death in the sniper s killing list. • 43. The s Speech Of Archidamus It is remarkable how timeless the Speech of Archidamus is. One could easily imagine the Spartan King were speaking to a modern occupied territory, itching for a revolt. King Archidamus urges the Spartans to head caution when entering war with Athens. He has seen too many wars [pg 25, 80] The battles he has witnessed in his lifetime have swayed him of any naive fascination with war. He has learned that violence begets violence, so one should only enter a battle they are prepared to win. Archidamus explains that Athens is stronger in terms of wealth, military might and political power. If the Spartans take the offensive route under these circumstances, they will surely loose both in combat and in terms of public relations. [pg 26, 81] Furthermore, Archidamus explains later that Athens had agreed to mediation, making any fight that Spartawere to start an unlawful preemptive attack. [pg 28, 85] The King assures his people he is not blind to their suffering, he just envisions better ways of ending it. [pg 26, 82] One of these methods would be to create partnerships with other nations who would lend armed forces and capital to the cause. To be done in tandem with confederation would be the accumulation of Sparta s assets. Archidamus predicts that under these circumstances, Athens could be motivated to surrender. Under the very different circumstances from which he is speaking, the King pushes to avoid war at all costs citing that complaints can be resolved, whether they are

Symbolically, killing with the switchblade represents for cutting away the troubles that get in the way. Sling Blade was a subjective film. It seduces the audience to emphasize with Frank and Karl and think the way the director wants. Elements The first element I found that supported the theme was the script. The actors dialogues shaped the characters roles. Karl adopted a new dialect. He picked up a backwoods, disturbed, monotone, punctuated by a throaty um hmmm . Karl s dialogue showed that he spoke in a simple way. He avoided complicated, fancy language. He spoke like a child, slow and easy, while the others in the movie indicated more education through their speaking. Karl explained the way he was treated as a child, his love for Frank, and his fear of Doyle. His moments of silence revealed his reflection, his caged up behavior, and his childlike manner. Karl s words shaped him as gentle and to the point. Karl told Frank s mamma she s good for Frank. He let people know their worth. At the end Karl stated, the world was too big . He

Released in 1970 and 1972, whilst the war of Vietnam continues, both of these song depicts tone and mood through the themes love, peace and unity. Both artists has incorporated literary devices within the lyrics to convey the message and resonate it towards the audience.
