Extended Project Qualification Plan
For my extended project qualification, I have decided on creating an artefact project,
in which I will be constructing my own independent documentary. My documentary
will be based on answering ‘Can Beauty Be Defined?’ and in order to find this out I
will be hosting interviews, completing independent research and expressing my own
views and opinions. As part of my project I will also be creating my own interactive
blog in which I will be uploading research findings.
I decided on defining beauty for my documentary as I found it an interesting topic
which meant a lot to myself and a lot of young people my age especially facing self
esteem and confidence issues. I found that a topic as such would be interesting to
study as it is very controversial and would mean my responses would all be different
and equally interesting.
My first step is to plan out and record each stage I would need to take in order to be
successful with my project. I will record each stages using an activity log sheet which
my teacher assessor has provided me with. This is helpful and effective in ensuring all
proposed tasks are completed and all goals are met. This activity log will allow me to
plan out my time scales, also creating a journey. I will be carrying out tasks such as
completing my brief proposal, setting up my blog and designing it specifically based
on my project topic. I have already decided on using the website www.blogger.com
as I am very experienced with the site, currently and previously using it for my A
Level and GCSE Media Studies coursework. I also plan to research into a variety of
cultures to compare their views on the controversial concept ‘beauty’. Another idea I
had in which I plan to pursue was to create a presentation of different countries and
aspects of traditional beauty originating from there. I also plan to create a survey and
get short responses of what ‘beauty’ meant to individuals whom I could not include
in my documentary. I would then present my findings using a chart of some kind and
post this new information to my blog. I also decided on collecting a variety of articles
that defined beauty or that described beauty and the controversial issues faced when
defining the term.
