Being a freshman in college, I set impractical and unrealistic goals for myself. Throughout the year, I

leadership.
Analysis and Discussion As previously mentioned, the article by Craig Johnson examines the rise and
fall of Carly Fiorina, HP s former Chief Executive Officer who was unceremoniously removed
following the tremendous impact that her dramatic changes had on the firm s productivity and success.
At the turn of the millennium, Carleton Fiorina was the most powerful businesswoman in the United
States who rose quickly through the ranks at AT T and Lucent Technologies (Johnson, 2008, p.188).

Diversity Of A New Rocket Ship
The topic of diversity is an ever growing discussion to encourage inclusion of different people,
cultures, and backgrounds into the global marketplace. In my issue paper, I will explore the idea of
diversity, its benefits, and how it can be included within key sectors of the business world. Diversity is
an important factor to the business place that allows employees and customers to interact with
companies that value their background as an essential part of their business plan company culture.
There are a myriad of benefits that diversity brings can bring to a company but most of my readings
reflected on three main ideas of driving innovation, bettering recruitment, and capturing the global
market. Diversity of race, gender, and social view can increase innovation and creativity. How does
diversity do this? When different people are brought together to complete a task or solve a problem,
they are bringing different information, perspective, and opinions. The need for diversity of expertise
is obvious: the building of a new rocket ship requires the expertise of designers, engineers, and quality
control experts. But informational diversity brings unique dimensions and experiences to thinking
through a task. Oftentimes being with those that are similar to us can lead us to think that we hold the
same details and information or share the same perspective, which hinders creativity and innovation.

Taking a Look at Mine Warfare
Mine warfare is the strategic, operational, and tactical use of sea mines and the countermeasures to
defeat them. These weapons are so dangerous and efficient which is why foreign navies and even
terrorist possess these weapons. The history of these weapons goes back to 1776; a year after our
nation s Navy was born. A man named David Bushnell created a mine that was composed of a
watertight keg, filled with black powder and a flintlock detonator which was suspended from a float
(Levie). The kegs were first used in the Delaware River to destroy British ships downriver during the
Revolutionary War. Along with the creation of the floating mines, Bushnell also created a drift model
of the mines that exploded on contact. As time went on, the Naval Branch increased in size and so did
the evolution and use of mines. Around 1863, Confederate Congress established the Torpedo Service
whose mission was to sow southern waterways with the kegs, which were very inexpensive at the
time. It was not until World War I when mines were being laid across the seas in large amounts to
prevent German U boats from destroying our warships. Almost twenty five years later, during the
Second World War, modern magnetic, acoustic, and pressure sensitive mines were first developed. The
deployment of mines by submarine and aircraft suddenly came into play, which spark inventors to
begin developing counter measures. Along with these counter measures, the military begin to establish

The story began with a beloved Echo, who was a beautiful river nymph who loved to tell stories to the
goddess Aphrodite. While they were chatting in the forest, Aphrodite promised to find any man that
Echo loved and make him love her back, but she insisted that she had not found the right person yet.
