Bankson Bernthal Test Of Phonology Essay
The Bankson Bernthal Test of Phonology (BBTOP) was administered to evaluate articulation and
speech production skills. Alexis presented errors in phonological processes which include final
consonant errors, the inclusion of additional sounds, Stopping, the substitution of sounds. Final
consonant errors were made for instance, with the word elephant /ɛləfənt/ being pronounced elephan /
ɛləfən/ and bridge / brɪʒ/ pronounced as brich /brɪʧ/. The addition of the /ɛ/ sound were noted in some
words beginning with s /s/ such as sled /slɛd/ pronounced as esled /ɛslɛd/. Stopping was found in
several words where the sound /ð/ was replaced with the sound /d/. For example, the word them /ðɛm/
was pronounced as dem /dɛm/ and mother /mʌðɚ/ pronounced as mudder /mʌdɚ/. Alexis also made
several substitution error as noted in the word crab /krӕb/, pronounced as crap /krӕp/ and clown
/klaʊn/ pronounced as cloud /klaʊd/. Reading Sample: To further asses Alexis articulation, a reading

the parents of guys were doing shopping, they lost the control of the kitchen. Alexis also had difficulty
forming full and grammatically correct sentences: They want to make some s some surprise for their

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Shower Curtains
The favorable circumstances and impediments of shower curtains or shower doors go past their
outward appearance. While they contribute enormously to the general look of your restroom, they will
likewise affect the capacity. A portion of the components to mull over are your own upkeep
inclinations, spending plan, and long haul designs.
On the off chance that you need your restroom to look neater when house visitors visit, the shower
shade can be shut to shroud the bath or left open to flaunt the splendidly glimmering porcelain. Sadly,
shower curtains should be altogether kept up so as to keep shape and buildup from rearing on their

At the point when indiscreetly left outside of the bath, shower curtains can likewise trickle on the floor

Open Source Software For Database Server
In this task, I will be looking at some open source software for a database server, Web server, file
server, SMTP server, and an LDAP server. I will go over a few in each category and then make my
recommendations based on the stability and security of the software as it relates to the need of the
First World Bank. First, I will be looking at some open source software for the database server. I am
going to be at the two that I consider be our organization s best options. Those two are MySQL and
PostgreSQL. MySQL is considered the most popular of all the open source database systems. It offers
a variety of database features and is considered fairly quick and pretty secure. It would be a good
choice for the company s database servers. However, unfortunately MySQL does not [try to]
implement the full SQL standard, this tool is not completely SQL compliant. If you might need
integration with such RDBMSs, switching from MySQL will not be easy (Tezer 2014). This makes it
not entirely ideal for current situation. When we take a look at PostgreSQL, we see that PostgreSQL is
the advanced, open source [object] relational database management system which has the main goal of
being standards compliant and extensible (Tezer 2014). For the type of work our company is looking
to achieve, it is very important that our database system be both highly secure and standards
compliant. The downside of PostgreSQL is it is considered slower than MySQL and it is not as
popular.

Earthquake In Iran
Earthquake survivors in Iran complained about the slow relief efforts as they asked for authorities to
provide them food and shelter while they brave the cold weather. Iran s earthquake, which occurred on
November 12, registered at least 530 fatalities and thousands of injuries, and it was also recognized as
the country s deadliest quake in more than a decade as it was recorded to possess a 7.3 magnitude. In
response to these insights, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei urged the agencies to
hasten aid efforts, while President Hassan Rouhani guaranteed his countrymen that the problem will
be dealt with quickly. The majority of survivors sought refuge in makeshift camps, while others
decided to spend another cold night in the open

Moon Landing Faked or Real Was July 20th, 1969 at 10:56 p.m. eastern daylight time, the biggest

were uttered by the first man on the moon. Or were they? Most people believe that the United States

number of people believe that it was all a big hoax. The controversy over whether the United States

Michelle Obama Speech Analysis
In the midst of the 2016 election, First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama gave a speech in
New Hampshire regarding the candidates. Donald Trump was facing Hillary Clinton; and in support,
Michelle Obama presented a Speech On Donald Trump s Alleged Treatment Of Women. As stated in
the title, Trump had recently made rude remarks regarding women, and Michelle Obama was using
this as a learning lesson for anyone looking to vote for Trump. She made it a point to vote for Hillary
by not only stating why not to vote for Trump, but also listing her many accomplishments throughout
her lifetime. Michelle Obama was able to create an effective and persuasive speech by strongly stating
Trump s wrongdoings, passionately listing Clinton s achievements, and frightening us of the possible
future for our children.
Obama s reasoning develops ideas that help connect her claim and evidence using the rhetoric device
of ethos. She quotes, ...we have a candidate... [that] has said things about women that are so shocking,
so demeaning that I simply will not repeat anything here today. And last week I saw this candidate
actually bragging about sexually assaulting women, (Obama, 2016). Obama explains the terrible acts
Trump has done to help her argument in why citizens should vote for Hillary and not Trump. Obama
spoke about the frequent sexual assault Trump has been associated with. Multiple times, he has spoken
inappropriately towards women. By First Lady Obama mentioning this, she is

What Differentiates Sfeelou s And Skandalis
One year after the collection of short stories Νιότη χωρίς τραγούδια Sofia Fildisi published the novel

Just like in her previous book, in this novel too, the author does not distinguish between Germans and
Nazis and words like Nazism , Nazis or Third Reich are nowhere to be found in over one hundred fifty
pages of narrative text. This is of particular importance as Ο μεγάλος μας αδερφός is the only text
published in the first period the metapolitefsi which does mention the existence of Nazi concentration
camps. The reference to the concentration camps, however, is completely disassociated from its

In both books the Germans are portrayed in a neutral way and the words soldiers , occupiers ,
occupation troops , foreigners and enemies are amongst those employed by the authors to refer to the
Germans. What differentiates Sfaelou s and Skandalis s narratives from those that have talked about so
far, however, is that both writers make use of the term Nazis , while in one of Skandalis s short stories
the term Third Reich also comes across. Nonetheless, none of the writers provide any further
explanations, either in the narrative text or in the paratext, which would help the young reader to put
the terms in question into their historical and ideopolitical context. Furthermore, none of the authors
are concerned to distinguish between Germans as a national group and Nazis as a group of supporters
of a certain ideological doctrine and in both texts the word Nazi is used as an alternative word for
Germans . Since no distinctions are made between Germans and Nazis, the switching between the two
words renders them synonymous. In other words, the Germans are Nazified and the Nazis are
Germanised while Germanness and Nazism are conflated in the identity of the enemy with whatever
implications this might have to the young reader s conceptualization of

Effective Communication in Team Dynamics Essay
Throughout personal and business lives everyone will eventually work in a team setting. A team
usually consists of three or more people who have a common goal or purpose. When working in a
team, members have to decide what roles they will fill, plan their schedules for projects, and deal with
upcoming team conflicts. Stewart, Sims Manz (1999) stated, For a team to succeed, team members
need to effectively communicate with one another (p. 79). While each element of teamwork is
important, effective communication is the cornerstone to team dynamics.
One of the main elements of effective communication is open discussions. Everyone on the team
needs to be willing to share his or her point of view. De Janasz, Dowd Schneider (2002) ... Show more

Once the team has achieved open communication the team members will be more willing to
encourage each other, which will lead to more creativity and risk taking. This creativity will be
achieved by trusting that the communication will be heard, discussed and tried if it will help the team
reach its goals. Temme and Katzel (1995) wrote that risk taking plays a major role in the creative
process. Trust and open communication will lead to brainstorming and sharing of ideas between the
team members. Therefore, team members must try new things to see if the ideas presented will benefit
the ultimate outcome and help achieve the final goal.
Eventually every team will have a conflict. Since conflict is inevitable, effective communication is
vital for the team success. The team needs to figure out what the conflict is, what needs to be done to
get the team going again, what the options are and how they will solve the conflict in a way that is
beneficial to the team (University of Phoenix, 2004). Without effective communication, this process of
conflict resolution would fail. The team members would not be willing to share their point of view,
teamwork would stall, and the conflict would escalate. Once a conflict escalates, the team will have a
hard time coming back together and trusting each other to accomplish the set goals. The team must be
able to communication openly and discuss solutions

The Assumption And Implication Of Good Faith Play
Introduction When one party receives a check and transfers it, is the transferee a holder in due course?
The response to this question is it depends on the facts and circumstances. The assumption and
implication of good faith play a role in determining a holder in due course. In our case, one party is
attempting to take advantage of the other through fraud and deceit. This paper explores who is a
holder in due course, the influence of fraud and deceit, the role of the stop payment, and who is
responsible when a situation goes wrong. Material Facts I agree with the court s decision because of
fraud, deception, and a lack of holder in due course status. Here are the material facts of the case. John

The Victimization Of News Media
The news media has a way of making the story more dramatic by adding information that is not true. I
do not feel that they have the people s best interest at heart, the news media is about ratings. The
criminal justice system has cases that are presented to the public by way of social media and it tends to
have a cause and effect type situation. These sensational crime news stories do not provide a very
accurate image of the types of crime by which the average citizen is victimized. Nor do such stories
accurately depict the kinds of crimes the police respond to on a daily basis ((Bohm Haley, 2012 p.6).

What is acid rain?
Acid rain is polluted rain, snow, or fog. The burning of fossil fuels, base metal smelting, and fuel
combustion in vehicles emits sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) (FAQ Acid Rain).
These gases enter the atmosphere ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These types of soil and bedrock do not contain carbonates to neutralize the acid. Limestone
catchments contain large amounts of carbonates and thus neutralize acid very effectively (Acid Rain
and The Aquatic). In addition to the acidification of lakes, acid rain can strip toxic metals from the
catchment and contaminate the lake. These metals include aluminum, manganese, iron, zinc, copper,
nickel, vanadium, lead, and mercury (Buchdahl). These metals can be very toxic for fish as well as
humans. Aluminum concentrations as low as 0.05 mg 1 1 can kill fish and macro invertebrate fauna.
Lower levels of aluminum may not kill but can severely impair growth and reproductive ability, and
hinder respiratory ability of fish (Acid Rain and The Aquatic). Aluminum has been shown to cause
Alzheimer s and mercury can cause brain damage in humans. The tissue of fish absorbs mercury so it
can not be cooked or filleted out. Even at very small input rates, mercury biomagnifies from the
bottom to the top of the food chain (Krabbenhoft).

Effects of Freshwater Acidification
At the beginning of lake acidification, the biomass remains largely unchanged, but the diversity drops
considerably (Buchdahl). As the number of one species or group of species changes because of the
acidification, the entire ecosystem of the water body is affected through the predator prey relationship

Literary Group in British Poetry
The history of English poetry stretches from the middle of the 7th century to the present day. Over this
period, English poets have written some of the most enduring poems in Western culture, and the
language and its poetry have spread around the globe. Consequently, the term English poetry is
unavoidably ambiguous. It can mean poetry written in England, or poetry written in the English
language.
The earliest surviving poetry was likely transmitted orally and then written down in versions that do
not now survive; thus, dating the earliest poetry remains difficult and often controversial. The earliest
surviving manuscripts date from the 10th century. Poetry written in Latin, Brythonic (a predecessor
language of Welsh) and Old Irish survives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the poetry that has survived is limited in volume, it is wide in breadth. Beowulf is the only
heroic epic to have survived in its entirety, but fragments of others such as Waldere and the
Finnesburg Fragment show that it was not unique in its time. Other genres include much religious
verse, from devotional works to biblical paraphrase; elegies such as The Wanderer, The Seafarer, and
The Ruin (often taken to be a description of the ruins of Bath); and numerous proverbs, riddles, and
charms.
With one notable exception (Rhyming Poem), Anglo Saxon poetry depends on alliterative verse for its
structure and any rhyme included is merely ornamental.
[edit]The Anglo Norman period and the Later Middle Ages
See also: Anglo Norman literature
With the Norman conquest of England, beginning in 1111 the Anglo Saxon language rapidly
diminished as a written literary language. The new aristocracy spoke French, and this became the
standard language of courts, parliament, and polite society. As the invaders integrated, their language
and literature mingled with that of the natives: the French dialect of the upper classes became Anglo
Norman, and Anglo Saxon underwent a gradual transition into Middle English.
While Anglo Norman or Latin was preferred for high culture, English literature by no means died out,
and a number of important works illustrate the development of the language. Around the turn of the
13th century, Layamon wrote his Brut, based on Wace s

Analyzing Benjamin Franklin s Political Career
Benjamin Franklin
Benjamin Franklin was born on January 17, 1706 in Boston, MA. And died on April 17, 1790. During

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Two Spains

conservative party is the more close minded Spaniards while the liberal party is more open minded
Spaniards. Spain is split roughly 50:50 between the two parties. The split is one of the most critical
aspects in the Spanish history. If one does not know about the Two Spains, one does not know the full
history of Spain. One of the main strengths is when both groups agree on the same ideas. But

Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) is a Safe Treatment for...
A. Thesis Statement
Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is a treatment for severe mental illness in which the brain is
stimulated with a strong electrical current which induces a seizure. The seizure rearranges the brain s
neurochemistry and results in an elevation of mood. This essay asks: Is ECT any safer and more
effective in treating mood disorders than drug therapies? This treatment has a controversial history
ever since it was first introduced in 1938. I intend to argue that electroconvulsive therapy is indeed a
safe treatment of mental disorders when other treatments have failed. Due to the development of safer
and less traumatic ways of administering ECT, the treatment has made a comeback, is greatly used,

C. Central Issue
Since its beginning, the issue of the safety and efficacy of ECT has existed, and thus its use has been
always remained controversial (Weiner Krystal, 1994). Even with the modern development of ECT,
some of the same issues are still prevalent. There are two sides here: the advocates that support the use
of the treatment, and those who do not. This is explored next.
The first argument for the use of ECT is the fact that majority of studies and modern literature show
that this treatment is very successful in treating many psychological disorders. Evidence seems
strongest for the efficacy in severely depressed patients, as well as manic patients (Reisner, 2003).
When looking at those with major depression, the likelihood of substantial improvement ranges from
80 90% (Weiner Krystal, 1994). In manic patients, Gabbard concludes that 80% of patients show
marked improvement (2001, p.1272).
The second argument for the use of ECT is that successful treatments induce remission in episodes of
illness (Gabbard, 2001). The evidence supporting this conclusion is compelling and includes a sizable
number of well controlled sham ECT studies. In these studies, patients were randomized to receive
real ECT or sham ECT (which involves anaesthesia but no electrical stimulation), thus providing for
precise double blind tests of efficacy (Gabbard, 2001). One misconception is that it provides a cure .

Willy Loman Unrealistic American Dream
Former American Lawyer and politician Robert Ingersoll once said, In nature there are neither rewards
nor punishments; there are consequences. Ingersoll states that all actions have the same general result,
people do not get rewarded nor punished, but instead they suffer from any plausible repercussions of
these actions. As Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller tries to pursue his own
american dream, he leaves behind a series of consequences due to the decisions he makes throughout
the novel. Willy creates an unrealistic american dream for himself, which causes the family to struggle
with him and his worthless belief of himself.
Willy is too fond/proud of himself to realize that he sets the bar too high for himself and has goals that

to be paid overtime, deadlines extended, or the possibility that software and equipment will need to be
purchases to complete the project. [pic] PROJECT OVERVIEW Our company chose to bid on this
project for many reasons. The first reason is that over the last year we have opened five new satellite
locations that have taken off faster than previous openings, which has given our company momentum
to take on new larger tasks that are within our field of operation. The second reason is that we have
enough resources to be able to provide future maintenance of the site and its functions. Third, the
purpose of this project also will determine if we increase the team size of our development teams to
allow for multiple large tasks. If in fact management finds that this project was completed with
exceptional quality within reasonable time and budget limitations, then the stock share percentage will
increase and a bonus will be given. Taking on difficult tasks challenge us individually to show our true
strengths and grow with experience. Knowing our limitations will also determine what resources need
to be increased to avoid making the same mistakes in the

Cerrpa Case
On Sunday, 04/29/2018, at approximately 1030 hours, S1 Alfonso Cerpa was arrested for being in
possession of a stolen vehicle. This occurred in the area of Sullivan Avenue and 280 south. Cerpa was
later released per 849(b) PC with a complaint sought. INVESTIGATION:
On Sunday, 04/29/2018, at approximately 1024 hours, I was in full police uniform, driving a marked
Daly City Police patrol vehicle. I was driving south on Sullivan Avenue, north of the interstate 280
south on ramp. At that time my attention was drawn to a gray, 2015, Volkswagen, Passat bearing
California license #5TUF434. I saw the vehicle was occupied by a male driver and female passenger. I
conducted a records check on the computer in my patrol vehicle and it revealed it was a stolen vehicle
out of Oakland.
I advised San Mateo County Communications that I was following a stolen vehicle. The vehicle
proceeded to get on south bound 280 from Sullivan Avenue. I continued following the vehicle south
on 280 until Officer Premenko #257 and Officer Todaro #248 were able to catch up to me. I then ...

Analysis Of `` Sapphire s Novel `` Push ``
Sapphire uses language to control how readers react the her novel Push, she attempts to impose
feelings of anger, helplessness, and hope onto her readers. The story follows Precious through two
years of her life, during which she experience all the emotions that Sapphire imposes on the reader.
This is to make readers empathize with Precious. Sapphire carefully chooses her words, using
specially chosen phrases at certain integral points in the novel. By doing so, she gives each word
significant meaning. Her language usage emphasizes Precious intelligence, something that is
continually questioned throughout the novel. Precious is often reduced to a stereotype by her mother

Precious still believes in love and home, though it is possible that she has never been shown love, and
may have never felt as though she had a home. She knows what love is, and that she feels it for her
child. Precious has not let her circumstances dictate her future, she is refusing to become just another
stereotype. Sapphire illustrates this conviction by the line [l]isten baby, Muver love you. Muver not
dumb (Sapphire 66). Given that fuck is the only word spelled correctly in Precious alphabet, it most
likely has an important meaning in her life. Fuck, as an adjective is usually used to express strong,
often negative, emotion. Precious uses it frequently throughout both the narrative and her journal
entries, it is reasonable to assume she cannot easily express her emotions, and therefore resorts to
profanities. Fuck is not a word usually taught in school, and it is unlikely that Precious parents taught
her how to spell much of anything; therefore Precious most likely learned how to spell the word from
graffiti, which further illustrates the conditions in which Precious grew up. Even though she has
spelled nothing else in her alphabet correctly, Precious knows how to spell fuck and how to use it
correctly in all matters of speech. Sapphire uses fuck to demonstrate Precious internalized negative
emotions. Using fuck as a verb indicates the act of having sex, though it is being expressed in a lewd
manner. To say fucking rather

The Development And Production Of Golden Rice
Transgenesis is the genetic modification of the traits of an organism through the transfer of genetic
material from one species to another [8]. This method is when a gene is inserted into a different specie
so that the organism will attain the desired gene from the foreign (different) specie. These organisms
can express the genes from foreign species because the genetic code for all organisms is similar which
results in that particular DNA sequence that codes for the same proteins and therefore the same trait
and will be present in the newly inserted foreign organism containing the desired gene.
Transgenesis occurs mainly because of human manipulation with the purpose of improving animals
and plants, modifying crops and also using these organisms as bio factories for human gain/ benefit.
The development and production of Golden Rice is a good example of transgenesis and the method of
Agrobacterium which was found due to the work of two European scientific who discovered the
addition of foreign genes of daffodil plant and soil bacterial would produce provitamin A as a way to
prevent vitamin A deficiencies all over the world, especially in developing counties. The technique of
using agrobacterium uses a naturally occurring soil bacteria (Agrobacterium tumefaciens) that has the
ability to change a plant s genes by invading it through its roots or stem. The end result would be the
production of beta carotene in the rice s endosperm (makes up the majority of the rice grain

Dionysus in Grecian Myth Essay
Dionysus in Grecian Myth
The god, Dionysus, fills an integral role in Grecian Myth. According to Euripides Bacchae, Dionysus
represents the animalistic and mystic life force that connects humanity to its innate earthy roots
#8212;roots that are illogical, chaotic, and instinctual. In this paper I will be discussing this
aforementioned mystic life force and its existence in ancient Greece s supremely logical society. Being
as completely logical as the ancient Greeks tended to be, they needed some sort of release valve that
kept them from all going crazy in their otherwise rigid existence. The god, Dionysus, provided this
release in their world through the manifestations of wine, women, and song. Without these simple

The women were reported as performing weird fantastic things, what miracles and more than miracles
while under Dionysus influence (665 66). Each one of those different mystical acts they performed
represented a different aspect of Dionysus divinity. The women struck the ground and wine sprang
forth for them to drink, they tore live cattle limb from limb, and flew among other things. The wine
was representative of Dionysus gift of wine to mortals. The animals were a reminder of Dionysus love
for raw animal flesh. The women flying were simply examples of Dionysus awesome powers and the
things mortals can do when under the mystical high you experience under Dionysus control. These
awesome acts were spread far and wide by the shepherds who witnessed them first hand. The stories
they told of the miracles performed instigated a powerful and destructive curiosity in Pentheus. His
curiosity was born out of his attempts to suppress his human side that was all Dionysus represented.
Pentheus became so focused on denying his irrational and animalistic values that they eventually
became his obsession. What should have been a natural human high turned into a perversion of the
normal mortal experience with Dionysus. Pentheus manic desire to view the acts of the women on the
mountain was the manifestation of his perverted sense of pleasure. This voyeuristic desire could only
be satisfied through experiencing another perversion set up by

American Media Coverage Of The Israeli Arab Conflict
American Media coverage of the Israeli Arab conflict
What is an Arab? In a great number of movies Hollywood provides the answer to this question: Arabs
are cruel murderers, sleazy rapists, religious fanatics, oil rich dimwits, and abusers of women
(Shaheen 2). This is how Hollywood shows Arabs to the world. Throughout the history we can trace
the discrimination in several media industry against African American, Jewish, and Hispanic people.
However, in some North America s media Arabs are depicted more negatively than any other
nationality. Media shapes the public opinion, it is our window to the world. The misrepresentation and
misperception of Arabs in North America s media have led to political, religion, and culture conflict.
The given paper will prove that the way media depicts Arabs negatively affected the Israeli Arab
conflict.
It seems that the Arab Israeli conflict is not going to be resolved. The conflict took many thousands of
lives. There are millions of refugees both in the Arab states, and in Israel. Both Arab and Jewish
people sustain economic, physical and moral losses. These losses make the hostile parties accept
inevitable truces. The forces of peoples and the international communities try to promote peace
making. For many years the problem of this conflict has been solved by the UN Security Council, the
EU, and even was discussed at the Group of Eight summits. However it is not possible to find any

to be brainwashed. First and foremost she had to overcome her own thought process that a white
education was better than the education she received at home because it was white. Originally Tambu
s pursuit of this white, English based education causes her to be cut off from her parents who maintain
the traditional cultures and values. The very education that allows her to survive in this magical new
world of education which was created by colonialism is the same thing that cuts her off from her
heritage. Second she must overcome the influence that her uncle s ideas have over her. Tambu must
realize that her uncle s ideas are often white and were assimilated into him while he was attaining his
white education. For example her uncle Babamukuru comes up with the idea that Tambu s parents
must get married, which is a white tradition, to clear their family of the sins that are causing the

Horse Training and Showing
Horse Training and Showing
Riders and horses that compete prepare through a training process that aids participation skills and
showmanship. Horse competitions require the people participating to have a certain level of
experience and knowledge. Due to this, horse trainers put an extensive amount of time and effort into
having to train their hose, prepare their horse, and participate in horse shows and events. The training
aspect that goes into preparing a horse for showing can begin soon after a horse is born. The earliest a
horse trainer could begin training a newborn horse is only after they have been weaned off of their
mother for a few days. Once this has been accomplished, the horse trainer may begin putting the horse
through the process of knowing what they need to know so they are able to take part in shows once
they are ready enough. The horse is first put through learning the basics, being taught to understand
when it must stop, to go when the rider clucks their tongue, and how to trot alongside them. With this
training, the youngest a horse is allowed to begin participating in official events is at the age of 4
months. After a horse has learned the basics, they are free to begin to learn other skills; however, a
horse should only be taught one skill at a time to prevent overwhelming it from having to remember
too many things. When training the horse new skills, it is best to keep in mind that horses learn best

The Torus Shaped Vessel
2.3 Diverter Applications
The diverter is located at the bottom of the torus shaped vessel and is designed to extract heat from the
plasma as well as the exhaust fumes of the reaction occurring which are helium and any impurities
from the first wall of the reactor. The basic concept of a diverter used within a tokamak design can be
understood better by looking at figure x which is a diagram of JET after it had a divertor fitted. The
separatrix is the last field line which contains the plasma. The magnetic field transports the plasma to
the diverters at the bottom as shown where the heat energy strikes the diverter target plates and
conducted to pipes where it is then removed through either a water or helium cooling system and the
exhaust gases are extracted by a vacuum.
The diverter itself is made up of several components shown in figure x. The plasma facing
components are the two vertical targets and dome. A closer look at one of the vertical target in figure x
shows how the cooling system works with a pipe with cooling fluid flowing through it is fitted
through blocks of armour material which make up the targets.
Looking to the future as projects grow in size towards DEMO, which will be a functioning fusion
power plant, the demands on materials especially PFC s are going to increase. For ITER the plasma
facing components for the divertor are to be made of carbon fibre reinforced carbon composite s

Indentured Servants And African Slaves
As a student of United States history, I have learned new information concerning certain subject
matters. My prior knowledge of US history about these certain topics, such as, indentured servants and
the institution of slavery was minimal. The reason for this is most of my prior knowledge of these
important topics were forgotten. The question I always asked myself what was the difference between
indentured servants and African slaves? Through my personal studying on the subject matter, I have
discovered new information that clarified all my misconceptions about historical topics like,
indentured servants from Europe, African slavery, and finding the similarities and differences of these
two types of labor.
During the 1600s Europe was absorbed in the Thirty Year s War, which depressed the economy at the
time. Many young males skilled and unskilled were looking for work. These young men had hoped
that there might be some prosperity in the New World. These young teenage men were eager for a
grand opportunity in Virginia. However, these new young immigrants coming over to the American
colonies would be considered as indentured servants. In the textbook, American Stories A History of
the United States mentions that, In exchange for transportation across the Atlantic, they agreed to
serve the master for a stated number of years (Brands et al. 37). These young male indentured servants
were in their early twenties. Skilled indentured servants often work for four or

The Analysis and Comparison of the Themes of Beowulf ,...
An epic is best described by the Merriam Webster Dictionary as a long narrative
poem in elevated style recounting the deeds of a legendary or historical hero. Epics like
Beowulf and The Odyssey are perfect examples of this definition; they are each
centered on the deeds and triumphs of their heroes, Beowulf and Odysseus. All epics are
similar in a way that they are made up of elements. One major element of the epic is its
themes. In all epics, the themes are what make and mold these narrative poems, they
descriptively outline the story. Most epics, like Beowulf and The Odyssey , have

Although, his wife Penelope did not know until he turns back to his
original being. Also, recognition is gained when Telemachus doubts that Odysseus is his
father. But, Odysseus eventually persuades Telemachus to accept him as his father. As
stated before, in Homer s epic, an identity cannot be claimed until recognition of that
identity from others is claimed first .
Like The Odyssey , Beowulf is also a legendary epic that includes the themes
identity, homecoming, battles and recognition as its primary focus. In Beowulf , the
themes homecoming and recognition are very closely related. When Beowulf returns to
Geatland, he is greatly rewarded for his works. He reunites with King Hygelac and tells of
his great adventures. Recognition is shown by Beowulf giving most of his treasure
received to the King, and in return is awarded with treasure of his home from King
Hygelac. Beowulf was praised and glorified for his homecoming(s) to Geatland and his return from
his victories over Grendel and his mother. He wasrecognized as a true hero , an Anglo Saxon hero to
be exact. In Beowulf , Kingdoms acknowledged Beowulf by showering him with treasures, feasts and
celebrations. Like God, to the Geats and Danes, he was worthy of all praises. He earned his
recognition. That s what the homecoming of a hero is all about, heroes being rewarded for their works

An Epidemic in the Government was the The American...
Government is a branch or service of the supreme authority of a state or nation, taken as representing
the whole. The government was a system that was ordained by God in order to maintain liberties that
God has granted us and also punish those who disobey God commands. One of the roles given to the
government is to promote economic progress by protecting the rights of individuals and allowing for
the free market economy of the laws of supply and demand to free take place. One epidemic that has
surfaced over the years would be the The American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012. The law allows for
many of the Bush tax cuts to retain while those who have a higher income are taxed at a higher rate.
One of the major problems that this act of legislation causes economically is an unequal taxation of
different groups based on their income. Those who make $400,000+ are taxed a rate of 39.6% of their
total income. (H.R 8, 112th Congress) This does not incorporate sales tax and property taxes that are
also taken each year as well. In the book Economics in One Lesson by Henry Hazlitt, one topic that is
discussed is how taxes discourages production. In the case of The American Taxpayer Relief Act of
2012, those who are of working class category will not see a change in their tax rates. This is great
since the monetary funds that they do not pay in taxes they can either invest or use in the market.
However, the taxes for those who are of upper class status have the burden. As Hazlitt

farm. In his new home, he met a Bohemian girl named Antonia, a free spirited, lively, unique
personality. He fell in love with her, and although his feelings were not returned, he and Antonia
became great friends. The book has numerous examples of traditional obstacles that people their ages
go through, along with additional hardships such as poverty and death of close family members.
Antonia developed a sense of independence that became her most prominent trait throughout the book.
The characters found activities and places where they felt like they belonged, and they began to
discover who they were. As Jim (the narrator) states, The new country lay open before me: there were
no fences in those days, and I could choose my own way over the grass uplands, trusting the pony to
get me home again. Jim was speaking of a place

  • 4. Open Source Software For Database Server In this task, I will be looking at some open source software for a database server, Web server, file server, SMTP server, and an LDAP server. I will go over a few in each category and then make my recommendations based on the stability and security of the software as it relates to the need of the First World Bank. First, I will be looking at some open source software for the database server. I am going to be at the two that I consider be our organization s best options. Those two are MySQL and PostgreSQL. MySQL is considered the most popular of all the open source database systems. It offers a variety of database features and is considered fairly quick and pretty secure. It would be a good choice for the company s database servers. However, unfortunately MySQL does not [try to] implement the full SQL standard, this tool is not completely SQL compliant. If you might need integration with such RDBMSs, switching from MySQL will not be easy (Tezer 2014). This makes it not entirely ideal for current situation. When we take a look at PostgreSQL, we see that PostgreSQL is the advanced, open source [object] relational database management system which has the main goal of being standards compliant and extensible (Tezer 2014). For the type of work our company is looking to achieve, it is very important that our database system be both highly secure and standards compliant. The downside of PostgreSQL is it is considered slower than MySQL and it is not as popular. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Just like in her previous book, in this novel too, the author does not distinguish between Germans and Nazis and words like Nazism , Nazis or Third Reich are nowhere to be found in over one hundred fifty pages of narrative text. This is of particular importance as Ο μεγάλος μας αδερφός is the only text published in the first period the metapolitefsi which does mention the existence of Nazi concentration camps. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In both books the Germans are portrayed in a neutral way and the words soldiers , occupiers , occupation troops , foreigners and enemies are amongst those employed by the authors to refer to the Germans. What differentiates Sfaelou s and Skandalis s narratives from those that have talked about so far, however, is that both writers make use of the term Nazis , while in one of Skandalis s short stories the term Third Reich also comes across. Nonetheless, none of the writers provide any further explanations, either in the narrative text or in the paratext, which would help the young reader to put the terms in question into their historical and ideopolitical context. Furthermore, none of the authors are concerned to distinguish between Germans as a national group and Nazis as a group of supporters of a certain ideological doctrine and in both texts the word Nazi is used as an alternative word for Germans . Since no distinctions are made between Germans and Nazis, the switching between the two words renders them synonymous. In other words, the Germans are Nazified and the Nazis are Germanised while Germanness and Nazism are conflated in the identity of the enemy with whatever implications this might have to the young reader s conceptualization of ... • 10. Effective Communication in Team Dynamics Essay Throughout personal and business lives everyone will eventually work in a team setting. A team usually consists of three or more people who have a common goal or purpose. When working in a team, members have to decide what roles they will fill, plan their schedules for projects, and deal with upcoming team conflicts. Stewart, Sims Manz (1999) stated, For a team to succeed, team members need to effectively communicate with one another (p. 79). While each element of teamwork is important, effective communication is the cornerstone to team dynamics. One of the main elements of effective communication is open discussions. Everyone on the team needs to be willing to share his or her point of view. De Janasz, Dowd Schneider (2002) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once the team has achieved open communication the team members will be more willing to encourage each other, which will lead to more creativity and risk taking. This creativity will be achieved by trusting that the communication will be heard, discussed and tried if it will help the team reach its goals. Temme and Katzel (1995) wrote that risk taking plays a major role in the creative process. Trust and open communication will lead to brainstorming and sharing of ideas between the team members. Therefore, team members must try new things to see if the ideas presented will benefit the ultimate outcome and help achieve the final goal. Eventually every team will have a conflict. Since conflict is inevitable, effective communication is vital for the team success. The team needs to figure out what the conflict is, what needs to be done to get the team going again, what the options are and how they will solve the conflict in a way that is beneficial to the team (University of Phoenix, 2004). Without effective communication, this process of conflict resolution would fail. The team members would not be willing to share their point of view, teamwork would stall, and the conflict would escalate. Once a conflict escalates, the team will have a hard time coming back together and trusting each other to accomplish the set goals. The team must be able to communication openly and discuss solutions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The response to this question is it depends on the facts and circumstances. The assumption and implication of good faith play a role in determining a holder in due course. In our case, one party is attempting to take advantage of the other through fraud and deceit. Over this period, English poets have written some of the most enduring poems in Western culture, and the language and its poetry have spread around the globe. Consequently, the term English poetry is unavoidably ambiguous. It can mean poetry written in England, or poetry written in the English language. The earliest surviving poetry was likely transmitted orally and then written down in versions that do not now survive; thus, dating the earliest poetry remains difficult and often controversial. This treatment has a controversial history ever since it was first introduced in 1938. Central Issue Since its beginning, the issue of the safety and efficacy of ECT has existed, and thus its use has been always remained controversial (Weiner Krystal, 1994). Even with the modern development of ECT, some of the same issues are still prevalent. There are two sides here: the advocates that support the use of the treatment, and those who do not. This is explored next. The first argument for the use of ECT is the fact that majority of studies and modern literature show that this treatment is very successful in treating many psychological disorders. Evidence seems strongest for the efficacy in severely depressed patients, as well as manic patients (Reisner, 2003). When looking at those with major depression, the likelihood of substantial improvement ranges from 80 90% (Weiner Krystal, 1994). In manic patients, Gabbard concludes that 80% of patients show marked improvement (2001, p.1272). The second argument for the use of ECT is that successful treatments induce remission in episodes of illness (Gabbard, 2001). The evidence supporting this conclusion is compelling and includes a sizable number of well controlled sham ECT studies. In these studies, patients were randomized to receive real ECT or sham ECT (which involves anaesthesia but no electrical stimulation), thus providing for precise double blind tests of efficacy (Gabbard, 2001). This method is when a gene is inserted into a different specie so that the organism will attain the desired gene from the foreign (different) specie. These organisms can express the genes from foreign species because the genetic code for all organisms is similar which results in that particular DNA sequence that codes for the same proteins and therefore the same trait and will be present in the newly inserted foreign organism containing the desired gene. Transgenesis occurs mainly because of human manipulation with the purpose of improving animals and plants, modifying crops and also using these organisms as bio factories for human gain/ benefit. According to the article Terri Schiavo and End of Life Decisions when surrogate decision makers and caregivers cannot agree upon what that choice would have been, they may turn to the courts to determine either what the now incapacitated patient would have chosen or who is best suited to choose as the patient would have (Mathes, 2005) In 1990 Terri Schiavo suffered cardiac arrest at age 27, due to hypokalemia secondary to an eating disorder. According to the article Terri Schiavo and End of Life Decisions Terri could not continue both to be alive and be free from invasive medical procedures (Mathes, 2005) I feel keeping them alive is unfair to them and to their loved ones. I also believe that the surrogate decision maker should follow the best interest standard, which is, given the medical facts and prognosis, make decisions that would be in the best interests of the patient. (Hook Mueller, 2005) There was a lot of evidence and proof from the doctors in regards to the fact that Terri was not going to get better, there were no medical interventions left that could help her. • 35. The Torus Shaped Vessel 2.3 Diverter Applications The diverter is located at the bottom of the torus shaped vessel and is designed to extract heat from the plasma as well as the exhaust fumes of the reaction occurring which are helium and any impurities from the first wall of the reactor. The basic concept of a diverter used within a tokamak design can be understood better by looking at figure x which is a diagram of JET after it had a divertor fitted. The separatrix is the last field line which contains the plasma. The magnetic field transports the plasma to the diverters at the bottom as shown where the heat energy strikes the diverter target plates and conducted to pipes where it is then removed through either a water or helium cooling system and the exhaust gases are extracted by a vacuum. The diverter itself is made up of several components shown in figure x. The plasma facing components are the two vertical targets and dome. A closer look at one of the vertical target in figure x shows how the cooling system works with a pipe with cooling fluid flowing through it is fitted through blocks of armour material which make up the targets. Looking to the future as projects grow in size towards DEMO, which will be a functioning fusion power plant, the demands on materials especially PFC s are going to increase. For ITER the plasma facing components for the divertor are to be made of carbon fibre reinforced carbon composite s (CFC) and some sections tungsten armour materials but for DEMO ... My prior knowledge of US history about these certain topics, such as, indentured servants and the institution of slavery was minimal. The reason for this is most of my prior knowledge of these important topics were forgotten. The question I always asked myself what was the difference between indentured servants and African slaves? Through my personal studying on the subject matter, I have discovered new information that clarified all my misconceptions about historical topics like, indentured servants from Europe, African slavery, and finding the similarities and differences of these two types of labor. During the 1600s Europe was absorbed in the Thirty Year s War, which depressed the economy at the time. Many young males skilled and unskilled were looking for work. These young men had hoped that there might be some prosperity in the New World. These young teenage men were eager for a grand opportunity in Virginia. However, these new young immigrants coming over to the American colonies would be considered as indentured servants. The government was a system that was ordained by God in order to maintain liberties that God has granted us and also punish those who disobey God commands. One of the roles given to the government is to promote economic progress by protecting the rights of individuals and allowing for the free market economy of the laws of supply and demand to free take place. One epidemic that has surfaced over the years would be the The American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012. The law allows for many of the Bush tax cuts to retain while those who have a higher income are taxed at a higher rate. One of the major problems that this act of legislation causes economically is an unequal taxation of different groups based on their income. Those who make $400,000+ are taxed a rate of 39.6% of their total income. (H.R 8, 112th Congress) This does not incorporate sales tax and property taxes that are also taken each year as well.
