The Role Of Nurse Generalist As An Advocate, Delegator,...
The roles of the nurse generalist as an advocate, delegator, and life long learner
Myunghee Jung
Fairmont State University December 11, 2015
There are many professional roles of the nurse generalist that are essential in providing care to
patients, such as an advocate, educator, collaborator, and change agent and so on. In every day nursing
practice, nurses perform a variety of nursing roles. Meeting role expectations as a professional nurse is
for patient centered care, which is one of the IOM core competencies. The purpose of this paper is to
identify nurse generalist roles as an advocate, communicator, and life long learner to implement IOM
core competencies; 1)provide patient centered care, 2) work in interprofessional teams, 3) employ
evidence based practice, 4) apply quality improvement, 5) utilize informatics (Finkelman, 2016, p. 50
51). This paper will also deal with what I have felt in my nursing career in performing the nursing
roles. According to Tomajan, the role of an advocate is to work on behalf of self and/or others to raise
awareness of a concern and to promote solutions to the issue (Tomajan, 2012, para 5). Acting as a
patient advocate plays an important role in providing patient centered care. In this role, nurses should
be aware of patients vulnerability and pay much attention to their individual values and preferences in
receiving care. However, in reality, it is challenging for nurses to focus exclusively on patients needs

Examples Of Foreshadowing In Tangerine By Edward Bloor
The book Tangerine by Edward Bloor is filled with many excited and unusual things. In the book
Tangerine, Paul Fisher and his family move to Tangerine County, Florida. Paul always seems to be
afraid of his older brother, Erik Fisher. Erik acts nice and polite in front of people but in reality Erik is
cruel. Throughout the novel, Paul has flashbacks which help him figure out what had happened to his
eyes when he was a little kid. Once he finds out what had really happened him, he overcome his fears
and confronts his family about the secret they have been hiding from him. In the novel, Tangerine,
Edward Bloor uses exemplary flashbacks and foreshadowing to convey the theme of fear. To begin

Genetic Background Of 189 Ssd Lines
In GWBP, the association mapping was conducted on the different genetic background of 189 SSD
lines derived from a natural crossing between 11 parents (Côte d Or/1 is one of them). The linkage
disequilibrium and population structure of GWBP were described in detail by Sallam and Martsch
(2015). Because Sallam and Martsch (2015) and Sallam et al. (2015a) confirmed that GWBP has low
structure, we assume that GLM model fits with the analysis of association mapping. However, we
presented marker trait association using MLM+K for AUPSC, LTAF, and LTCF. The results of
association analysis revealed that 12 different significant markers were found to be associated with
AUSPC, LTAF, LCAF (Table 3). It was difficult to determine the contribution of each parent of the
GWBP (unlike BPP) because this population was derived from a natural crossing of 11 parents.
However, the number of alleles (for the 12 significant markers, Table 3) associated with decreased
frost stress symptoms in each founder line is presented in Figure S3A. This number ranged from four
alleles inherited from Banner/1 to ten alleles from L979/1. This indicates that L979/1 is the main
source of frost tolerance found in GWBP. Of 12 alleles, Côte d Or/1 had eight alleles that were
responsible for decreasing the effect of frost stress. Conversely, for each allele associated with a
decrease in frost stress symptoms, the number of founder lines carrying that allele was determined
(Figure S3B). This was done in order to

The Physical Portrayals Of Hispanic Women In The Media
The physical portrayal of Hispanic women in the media has a large influence on the Hispanic women
and girls that view these portrayals. The media s physical portrayal of Hispanic women is that they are
voluptuous, dark haired, tanned skin, and petite. There are many films, TV shows, and any other
media outlets that portray Hispanic women as such. Examples of these portrayals are Modern Family,
Maid in Manhattan, and Girl in Progress. In each of these movies or shows, the main character
appears as the stereotypical Hispanic woman. This is what many Hispanic women and girls believe
that the world sees them as. They also believe that this is how they should look. This especially affects
adolescent girls that identify as Hispanic. media use may play a role in the body image development
of Latina adolescents (Schooler, 2008, p. 134). Most of the time when watching television, Latinas see
a white woman and their beauty standards. The difference between white women in the media as
opposed to Latin women is that there is a greater variety of how white women in the U.S. look. When
a Latina finally sees someone who is Latina, they expect to see themselves, instead, they see Eva
Mendes, long wavy hair, curvy, and petite. When young Latin women see this, they expect themselves
to be the same way. If they don t look like that, it can result in a spoiled body image of themselves.
Latina women in this sample tended to hold the lowest perceptions of their bodies, the highest
awareness of Consumerism as a factor in the body/beauty standard, and scored high in racial
identification (Poran, 2002, p. 79) Latin women understand who they are and when someone is of the
same background. Many are also self conscious about their bodies, and that is likely due to the fact
that not only are actresses on TV shows thin and curvy, but many commercials are about the newest
way to lose weight rapidly, or what to buy to get curves. All women of any race have issues with body
Image, but as a Latina, the media plays a big role in how Latinas form their body image.
According to the media s portrayal of Latin women, there are two ways Latin women act. The first
way is passive, pure, and dependent on men; the second way is wild,

Restraint Essay
Restraint
Restraint is a major idea in Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness. Restraint constantly influences the
decisions people make. Kurtz s lack of restraint kills him, while Marlow s restraint saves and prevents
him from becoming like Kurtz. Kurtz is a man who [kicks] himself loose of the earth (Conrad, 61). He
does not have allegiance to anyone except to himself. Kurtz s absence of restraint exists because he
holds a lusty power in an un civilized country. Restraint is affected by three factors; power, lust, and
his surroundings. Kurtz s display of restraint is a prime example that exemplifies the affect of these
three factors on restraint.
Kurtz was not always the power ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He discovers many villages and goes to them with thunder and lightning (Conrad, 51). He uses guns in
order to frighten the natives. Through fear, the natives grew to worship Kurtz. He becomes leader of
the villages; a deity. Unlike most foreigners, he does not have to adjust to his surroundings. Instead,
the natives had to adapt to him. Kurtz exercises his power by conquering additional villages and even
by executing people. Exterminate all the brutes (Conrad, 46)! Kurtz eliminates rebels who get in his
way. He slices off their heads and then displays them outside of his house. This serves as a warning to
his people to not betray him. In a sense, Kurtz is at the top of the food chain. He has great power and
uses it without restraint to satisfy his desires.
After raiding villages and obtaining followers, Kurtz becomes very power hungry. He enjoys having
power; compiling ivory and having worshipers. He abuses his power without restraint. He has tried to
return to the Central Station; however, his lust for power disables him from returning.
Kurtz had apparently intended to return himself... but after coming three hundred miles, had suddenly
decided to go back, which he started to do alone in a small dugout with four paddlers, leaving the half
caste to continue down the river with the ivory. (Conrad, 28)
Kurtz had come down to deliver his ivory, stopped, and

The Sacred Canopy Summary
In his book, The Sacred Canopy: Elements of a Sociological Theory of Religion, Peter L. Berger
details a sociological approach to viewing religion as a human necessity. Berger argues that humans
go through the process of world building in order to create the human specific order they lack
biologically. Berger s theory depends primarily on three key aspects: externalization, objectivation,
and internalization. Through these social and cognitive processes, humans create society, culture, and
ultimately religion. Looking at religion through Berger s sociological lens effectively identifies how
religions and their various beliefs have come to be accepted in our society. In my second visit to the
Islamic Center of San Antonio my aim was to hone in on the most deeply fixed aspects of Islam in an
effort to trace them back through Berger s three stages of world building. For instance, one of the most
striking aspects of members of the Islamic Center of San Antonio is their strict commitment to prayer.
The members I spoke with emphasized the importance of sticking to the Salah (daily prayers plus the
Friday prayer) times. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This strict adherence to the Salah schedule is the result of socialization, which Berger describes as the
process of learning to live within the constructs of society (Berger Religion and World Construction ).
Socialization is completed after something is externalized, given objectivity, and then internalized.
Externalization is the continuous creation of both the physical and non physical aspects that make up
society (Berger Religion and World Construction ). Salah times are not much different from most
aspects of Islam in that they are believed to be taught to the people by the Prophet Muhammad who
learned from Allah

What Is The Theme Of The Weep Fig
This essay is an analysis of The Weeping fig written by Judith Wright in 1972 and was published in A
Look Down Under by futurum and edited by Dunn Thorborg in 1985.
The story revolves around the Australian outback and Mr. Condon s quest for something unknown.
The story of The Weeping Fig is about Mr. Condon, who finds a notebook, between his deceased
father s things. The notebook describes the life of Mr. Condon s great grandfather Stephen Condon s
life in the outback. Mr. Condon decides to visit the farm, written about in the notebook. Here he ends
up meeting Mrs. Hasting.
Mrs. Hasting is the owner of the cattle farm together with her husband, and she isn t described as the
most pleasant person, actually far from. This come to show, when Mr. Condon tries to explain why he
has decided to visit them, he began to explain. You see, this place but she was not interested in his
reasons The Weeping Fig. (p. 2, l. 32).
She talks about how she is disappointed about living in the outback because she loves the city life and
if she had known she would end on the cattle farm when she married her husband, she would not have
done it. She seems very bitter about living there. Mrs. Hasting explains the reason for her
disappointment with the outback.

The Dangers of Colored Food
What is naturally blue? The only one that comes to mind is blueberries, but are there any more. In

naturally colored when blueberries are the only pure food blue?(Gilman) Colored added to food is one
of the most regulated food ingredient; any color added to food is passed by the Food and Drug

The Ethics Of Citizen Journalism And Traditional Media
In today s age, anyone can be a reporter. Traditional media is where news has been shared by trained
journalists for decades, however, citizen journalism has skyrocketed in recent years with the growth of
the Internet. These citizen journalists have no professional training in journalism collecting and news
distribution (Netzley). Citizen journalists are collecting, reporting, analyzing, and disseminating news
without any formal training but provides independent, relevant information (Barnes). Traditional
media outlets are not being outdone by citizen journalism in today s society, but their platform is
growing rapidly. The ethics of citizen journalism is not growing at the same rate as its platform and
relevance in today s world.
Producing and sharing media has become much easier which has given citizen journalists a much
larger platform than ever before. Social media, blogs, and production material such as FinalCutPro are
making it easier and faster to get media out there compared to traditional media sources (Roberts and
Steiner, 1). Citizen journalists are much more equipped with being able to share news from what is
happening at the scene of an event. These can be photos, videos, or a number of different sources from
major events in history such as September 11th and the more recent Las Vegas attack (Barnes). Some
professional news sites even encourage citizen journalists to share media, stories, and ideas. A study
done in 2008 showed that one out of every seven of

Personal Narrative-A Humorous Journey
As I sit on the stage of the most prestigious music hall in the world, Carnegie Hall, with my cello in
between my legs and bow in hand, the conductor raises his baton. He cues me along with 150
symphony players dressed in uniform black tuxedos and gowns. I was unbelievably nervous, sitting

When I was in the third grade, our districts high school orchestra teacher accompanied by a few high
school players, came to my elementary class to inform us about stringed instruments because the next
year was the first year I could play in the orchestra. It never crossed my mind that I wanted to play in
orchestra until that day. I recall hearing the mellow, eloquent sound of the cello and absolutely falling
in love with it. I knew I wanted to be just like the high schoolers and wanted to become just as good as
them. When I first began to play the cello, it was difficult. I had never met something that required so

Sermon On The Baptist Of The Nazarene
This past Sunday, at Woodview Church of the Nazarene, we had the pleasure of hearing our senior
pastor, Mark Walker, preach. Pastor Mark had been on sabbatical for most of August, all of September
and the first part of October and has been back just a few weeks. This sermon was just the second he
has preached since coming back from that sabbatical. Pastor Mark, preaching on All Saints Day, took
the opportunity to preach a message on the importance of remembrance and anticipation. He choose
the text of Revelation 21:1 8, a passage concerning the age to come. This was also tied into our
monthly celebration of communion, although we frequently celebrate communion more often than
that. Pastor Mark spoke on the inspiration of those saints that have gone before us, the future final
redemptive work of Christ and the final judgment. Pastor Mark s choice of text was fitting for All
Saints Day and leading into the Eucharist. He utilized the form of the text, being apocalyptic, to shape
a message of hope inspired by the saints who have gone before who have trusted in the promise of
God s future redemptive work. Pastor Mark took the promise of God s future in the age to come to
inspire the congregation to follow wholeheartedly after God, just as the saints within our congregation
have before. He encourage us to never forget what God has done in our lives and preserve in our walk.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep

twenty seven words has caused an intense debate. The polemic is that some people claim that a gun
control policy is unconstitutional, while others disagree and even say it is necessary in order to reduce
crime. Now, what does gun control mean? If it means to analyze who is responsible enough to own a

Supporters of gun control claim that if there were no guns on the streets, massacres like the one in
Sandy Hook could have been prevented. Gun control supporters also argue that arming everyone will
not save you from getting killed. They argue that in a gun shooting everything happens fast and you
usually do not have time react to the situation. Moreover gun control supporters state that it is more
difficult to buy a medicine than to order ammunition online from your home. In the article Just how
easy is it to buy a gun over the Internet? published in The Washington Post by Brad Plumer. The
author explains that even though the Gun Control Act of 1968 prohibits the direct shipping of
firearms, there are sellers that are willing to sell their guns even when researchers explicitly stated that
they probably couldn t pass a background check . This shows the weakness of the current gun
regulations and the need for stronger and efficient laws that reduces murder rates. Supporters of gun
control say that banning guns is the key to prevent massacres in public places or institutions. If there
were no guns, psychopaths would not have all that deadly artillery to kill people. Also many people
believe that the second amendment is not relevant anymore. When the constitution was written,
nobody, not even the founders thought that the nation would survive. In his article Gun Control Foes

Ever since the first prison opened in the United States in 1790, incarceration has been the center of the

have been tried, and many at a much lower cost than imprisonment. It wasn t until the late 1980 s
when our criminal justice systems across the country began experiencing a problem with
overcrowding of facilities. This problem forced lawmakers to develop new options for sentencing
criminal offenders. Unlike jail or prisons, which create an expensive cycle of violence and crime,

Some of the conditions may be a requirement for employment, school, or community service hours.
These conditions must be met to satisfy the sanction, if they are not met the offender would be in

confinement. This sanction restricts an individual to his or her residence for specific periods of time;
in most house arrest programs offenders are allowed to leave their homes only for employment,
medical needs, or mandated assignments such as community service or school. The emphasis of this

records. I am a disorganized person, and very careless. Sometimes during the research process, I lose
information that I researched. Although, the paper was quite confusing at times, I felt I did a good job.
I am also quite surprised how well this paper turned out and believe, other people might confirm the
improvement of my essays. I have completed the paper. In order to accomplish this, I used
organization, better use of punctuation, and transitional words.
Furthermore, I did not understand an effective quote sandwich. The second assignment was difficult
for me. For example, when quoting someone, one should write something such as: Balko points out
that, he is upset with insurance companies (Balko 158 ). This effectively introduces who is saying
what. In addition, it is an example of a paraphrase, because I am using my own words. However, Mr.
Balko, failed to do this in his

The Face Behind Bitcoin
The Face Behind Bitcoin The Newsweek has gone too far by invading Satoshi Nakamoto s private life
without his consent. The reporter goes to the extent of going to confront Nakamoto from his residence
in temple city where he decides to involve the police because he never consented on speaking with the
reporter. In the letter he accuses Newsweek of printing false reports concerning his life, and this has
created a great deal of confusion and stress to him and the family members. He finishes by asking the
Newsweek to respect his privacy. The allegation made on Mr. Nakamoto is not justifiable in any sense
since he personally denied being involved in the programming and invention of the bitcoin
technology. The magazine is seen to have developed its own thesis on the programmer s identity by
matching Nakamoto s name and career to the alleged creator of the digital currency system. He even
argues out that he never heard the term Bitcoin until his son told him. The reporter goes ahead to his
home even after noticing Mr. Nakamoto s character of not being social to the public. In the story he is
described to be a man with few words and very intelligent. The initial program document carried the
name of Satoshi Nakamoto, and because the author chose to remain private and anonymous, it had
been widely assumed the name to be a pseudonym. The reporter is seen to have gone to the extent of
going to Mr Nakamoto s home to confront him on the story which he earlier denied talking about

community leadership as a whole. These programs contribute to building leaders in the area. This
occurs through developing their leadership skills and knowledge to be effective leaders in the
community. Service learning provides youth with the opportunity to practice and enhance their
leadership skills by reflecting on their experience. Youth involved in service learning programs report
a variety of benefits. These include an enhanced self esteem, clarification of values, social and
personal development, civic responsibility, and enhanced academic performance. Although we are

Accounting Standards Boards Paper
Accounting Standards Boards Paper
In recent years there has been significant changes made in our understanding of the relationship
between the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and the Financial Accounting
Standards Board (FASB). At present both the IASB and FASB are working on a joint venture referred
to as the convergence project in hopes of eliminating a variety of differences between International
Financial Reporting Standards and U.S. GAAP. Another area covered in this paper besides a brief
history of the relationship between the IASB and FASB will be how the MSA program will prepare
students for the accounting profession. The intent of this paper will be to address both issues first;

is the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB). The FASB is a private organization responsible
for establishing a broad range of reporting standards and specific accounting rules. The FASB has
made possible for investors, creditors, auditors, and others a means of using financial information that
is transparent and comparable here in the U.S.
IASB and FASB Relationship
On November 18, 2002 the FASB and IASB came together at a meeting in Norwalk, Connecticut to
start the wheels in motion for the purpose of establishing a new set of financial standards. The FASB
and IASB are committed to create financial standards that will be accepted both domestically and
internationally that are of high quality and compatible for financial reporting. At present more than a
100 countries already use the International Financial Reporting Standards. The U.S. at present has not
accepted a changed in accounting procedures; therefore, this is going to be a major task for both the
FASB and IASB to complete successfully this union. I do believe that the partnership between the
FASB and IASB will achieve the goals of creating a common financial reporting set of standards that
will be accepted by all.
The Convergence Project
The convergence project is to be divided into a short term and long term process. The short term
projects will consist of issues that can be dealt within a time frame of up to two years. In this time
frame the hope is to reduce

How Does Mary Magdalene Play In The Da Vinci Code
Everyone loves conspiracies. And so did the readers, who scurried into bookstores to buy one of the
80 million copies of The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. Even though the novel is, of course, fictional,
Brown s claim from the start that all [descriptions] of the architecture, art, secret rituals, history, and
Gnostic gospels are true is provocative, and gives a sense of authority to the book s elaborate but
distorted theories. Many, including Christians, wonder how much they really know about Jesus and a
woman named Mary Magdalene. Although Mary Magdalene s role in the known Bible is relatively
short compared to other characters, Mary Magdalene plays a critical role in the book The Da Vinci
Code. Dan Brown s misinterpretation of historical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Nicaea Council was gathered to settle The Arian crisis in 318. Arius, a priest of Alexandria, taught
that Jesus Christ was not God, or any divine being, by suggesting that Jesus was not eternal, but a
human being created prior to other humans, therefore He was different in nature from God, and was
adopted by God. The concept of trinity was actually confirmed in the Bible. For example, the Gospels
of John repeats that Jesus is God and calls him Lord, a title reserved for Yahweh. In addition, Jesus s
divinity was established by pre Nicene church fathers, such as Ignatius of Antioch, Justin Martyr,
Tertullian and Origen. Nonetheless, Constantine held a meeting at Nicaea in 325 and invited around
318 bishops to resolve the dispute (Hangen). The result was nothing close to what Brown claims to be
a relatively close vote (Brown 204). Out of all the bishops, only two refused to sign the Nicene Creed
that recognized Jesus as the Son of God (Barnett). Brown s statement is absurd and clearly misleading.
His assertion that questions Jesus s divinity because of the close vote at the Council of Nicaea is
inconsistent with historical context.
Some might argue that some bishops were forced to sign the agreement. It is true that there were
originally seventeen bishops opposed to the proposal, and the number reduced to two after
Constantine threatened exile. However, even if seventeen, instead of two, were to be considered as the
number originally opposed to Jesus s divinity, there would still be a vast majority supporting Jesus s
divinity

Dbq Essay On Imperialism
The standard way of thinking about the topic of imperialism is that the British seized other peoples
lands without considering how the people felt, but many other countries followed in the footsteps of
the British. Other countries saw that they had expanded and were gaining territory, and wanted to
expand also. There were many reasons as to why imperialism became popular, money, land,
education, resources, because of this many people were greatly affected by imperialism. Some of the
main people affected were the British, the Germans, and the people living in imperialized countries.
Of the people who were impacted by imperialism, the group that was influenced the most were the
British. The British played a huge role in imperialism. In Confessions of Faith, Cecil Rhodes, a British
imperialist in Africa, wrote about how the British had begun colonization. Per Rhodes the British were

Rhodes believes that for this to happen the British need the other countries land so that the British

Rhodes is not the only one to bring up the white man s burden in his work, in An Anthology of West
African Verse, by David Diop, he also mentioned the white man s burden in his piece, but unlike
Rhodes s he doesn t show the positive side to the white man s burden (doc 4). Diop argues that the

complains about the white man s burden in his writing, and he believes that it

The History Of The Airline Industry
The history of the airline industry has proven to be one of the most turbulent and unreliable industries
to date. Many airlines have found ways to succeed, or simply keep their heads above water, while
other companies have not been so lucky. We ve seen legacy airlines such as Pan American and Trans
World Atlantic, who once reigned the industry, fall beyond recovery into bankruptcy and forced to
shut down, while other airlines have become very successful. One airline that has been able to make
air travel a profitable business is Continental Airlines. Continental Airlines was founded in 1934 as a
very prosperous company and over their colorful 64 year history has experienced both tremendous
success and extreme difficulty.
Walter Varney and Louis Mueller originally founded Continental Airlines as Varney Speed Lines. The
concept of their company was to operate airmail and passenger services in the American Southwest
over a route originating from El Paso, Texas, to Pueblo, Colorado. Commencing operations in the
Lockheed Vega, in the first month they carried 860 pounds of mail and 9 passengers. In 1934, Robert
F. Six saw an opportunity and bought into the Southwest division of Varney Speed Lines. Soon after in
1936, Mueller sold 40 percent of the company shares to Robert Six who then gained control of the
company. One year later Six changed the name to Continental Airlines and moved its headquarters to
Denver, Colorado, which would become the airline s central hub for the next

The B Dubois s Impact On American Society
Chloe Thompson Ms. Webster English III H 5B 4 May 2015 W.E.B DuBois One of the late 19th

research it is clear that DuBois was not subtle to one job or career choice. His main goal was to
improve the lives of African Americans. As a Civil Rights activist, sociologist, educator, historian,
writer, editor, poet, and scholar, DuBois contributed to changing American society today. On February
23, 1868, William Edward Burghardt DuBois was born to Alfred Alexander DuBois and Mary Sylvina

alongside Caucasian children and taught by white teachers as well. In 1885 he migrated to Nashville,
Tennessee to attend Fisk University ( W.E.B DuBois. ). While at Fisk, DuBois encountered irrational
racism and Jim Crow laws for the first time. According to Derrick Alridge, DuBois focused ... on
philosophy, history, and poverty. It was at this point that he began to form his idea of the talented tenth
a cadre of college educated blacks that would break down the institutional structures of American
racism while elevating their race to a pinnacle of respect in the world community (Alridge). After
graduating from Fisk in 1888, DuBois was accepted into Harvard as a graduate. While at Harvard, he

Early day Slovakia was the border area of the Roman Empire and can be traced back into prehistoric
times. In the early 9th century, a Slavic leader named Mojmír created the Great Moravian Empire

parts of Hungary and Austria. The Great
Moravian Empire collapsed in 907 after the Hungarian army invaded the land. After the
Empire collapsed, Slovakia became apart of the Hungarian Kingdom and lasted there for about 1,000

Europe that was founded in the Middle Ages and lasted into the twentieth century.

What Is Luck Is A Matter Of Preparation Meeting Opportunity
Oprah Winfrey once said, Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity. What Oprah means by
this statement is that hard work and effort are the key to meeting opportunity. When someone
succeeds and another fails, it is not because of how lucky either of them were, but how much of an
effort each of them had made. I agree with Oprah Winfrey because hard work and effort are more
important.
First, opportunity is rare to come by making it better to have the experience of taking. Experience
gives people an advantage over the other, the more of it one has, the better their chances. For example,
Oprah Winfrey went through countless interviews while working for small television companies and
every time she failed she only gained the experience in doing better next time. Now look at her, she is
one of the riches women in the world living the dream life. Gaining experience allows us to expand
our perception of what we see. The bigger our viewpoint is the more ideas we develop and the greater
an asset we become, increasing the chances of being successful.
Second, preparation, it can only be beneficial and advantageous. Preparation increases the chances of
being successful. Furthermore there is no harm in being prepared. For example, studying for a test will
increase the odds of gaining a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

without any skills, experience or attitude in moving along you will just end right back at square one
depending on luck. This is why we need the motive to work whether it may be internal motivation or
external motivation it does not matter. Motivation allows us to work towards our goals slowly making

Descriptive Essay On Showmanship
Attention everyone, a creaky voice scratched out on the old speaker, Attention, judging for
showmanship is about to begin, everyone please round up your animal and come to the ring. My
nerves instantly hit me, my hands instantly became frigid, unwilling to move even one centimeter.
Everywhere around there was nothing but faded denim jeans, cowboy boots, old t shirts, plaid shirts,
and the occasional stetson. The screeching and bleating of surrounding animals bounced around in my
head, making it more difficult to concentrate. The smell of manure and farm animal burned my
nostrils as I shook my head to clear my thoughts. All around me people quickly rushed to their animals
to do one last check over, pluck away the straw, fluff the wool, clear the crust, and check the hooves,
all while freshening up themselves. Meanwhile I carefully took my market lamb away from the
craziness and meandered to the front of the ring without a care in the world. It was fair time yet again,
sometimes it brought out the best, and sometimes the worse, in people. I however was in a man s
world in showing, each year I d made it my mission to clean out the competition and leave them with
nothing, and this year I was going to claim showmanship yet again to my winnings. Showmanship is a
big deal in showing at the fair. Winning meant recognition for all your hard work and winnings. It also
meant a shiny, golden trophy with your name engraved on it. So far I had one it only once, in the year

Pericles Foils
Throughout Pericles, Prince of Tyre, there exists a blatant dichotomy between good and evil. The play
lacks moral ambiguity within many of the central characters. One can recognize this dichotomy by
analyzing the utilization of foils in Pericles. Pericles incorporates obviously corrupt characters that
contrast with virtuous counterparts. For instance, in two analogous instances Pericles travels to a new
city, attempting to court a princess. The first princess, King Antiochus daughter, acts as a foil to
Thaisa, the second princess. Thaisa is a virgin with a healthy relationship with her father, while
Antiochus daughter engages in an incestuous affair with her own father. Pericles finds no difficulty
choosing which princess to engage just as the audience has no difficulty passing judgment upon the
characters. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Antiochus, a corrupt and powerful tyrant, mounts the heads of his daughter s suitors upon a wall as he

absolutely no redeeming qualities to King Antiochus. King Simonides, on the other hand, foils
Antiochus as a wise, affable ruler. For example, he allows Pericles to participate in the tournament
despite his grimy appearance, Opinion s but a fool, that makes we scan The outward habit by the

  • 2. The Role Of Nurse Generalist As An Advocate, Delegator,... The roles of the nurse generalist as an advocate, delegator, and life long learner Myunghee Jung Fairmont State University December 11, 2015 There are many professional roles of the nurse generalist that are essential in providing care to patients, such as an advocate, educator, collaborator, and change agent and so on. In every day nursing practice, nurses perform a variety of nursing roles. Meeting role expectations as a professional nurse is for patient centered care, which is one of the IOM core competencies. The purpose of this paper is to identify nurse generalist roles as an advocate, communicator, and life long learner to implement IOM core competencies; 1)provide patient centered care, 2) work in interprofessional teams, 3) employ evidence based practice, 4) apply quality improvement, 5) utilize informatics (Finkelman, 2016, p. 50 51). This paper will also deal with what I have felt in my nursing career in performing the nursing roles. According to Tomajan, the role of an advocate is to work on behalf of self and/or others to raise awareness of a concern and to promote solutions to the issue (Tomajan, 2012, para 5). Acting as a patient advocate plays an important role in providing patient centered care. In this role, nurses should be aware of patients vulnerability and pay much attention to their individual values and preferences in receiving care. However, in reality, it is challenging for nurses to focus exclusively on patients needs and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Genetic Background Of 189 Ssd Lines In GWBP, the association mapping was conducted on the different genetic background of 189 SSD lines derived from a natural crossing between 11 parents (Côte d Or/1 is one of them). The linkage disequilibrium and population structure of GWBP were described in detail by Sallam and Martsch (2015). Because Sallam and Martsch (2015) and Sallam et al. (2015a) confirmed that GWBP has low structure, we assume that GLM model fits with the analysis of association mapping. However, we presented marker trait association using MLM+K for AUPSC, LTAF, and LTCF. The results of association analysis revealed that 12 different significant markers were found to be associated with AUSPC, LTAF, LCAF (Table 3). It was difficult to determine the contribution of each parent of the GWBP (unlike BPP) because this population was derived from a natural crossing of 11 parents. However, the number of alleles (for the 12 significant markers, Table 3) associated with decreased frost stress symptoms in each founder line is presented in Figure S3A. This number ranged from four alleles inherited from Banner/1 to ten alleles from L979/1. This indicates that L979/1 is the main source of frost tolerance found in GWBP. Of 12 alleles, Côte d Or/1 had eight alleles that were responsible for decreasing the effect of frost stress. Conversely, for each allele associated with a decrease in frost stress symptoms, the number of founder lines carrying that allele was determined (Figure S3B). This was done in order to ... • 7. The Physical Portrayals Of Hispanic Women In The Media The physical portrayal of Hispanic women in the media has a large influence on the Hispanic women and girls that view these portrayals. The media s physical portrayal of Hispanic women is that they are voluptuous, dark haired, tanned skin, and petite. There are many films, TV shows, and any other media outlets that portray Hispanic women as such. Examples of these portrayals are Modern Family, Maid in Manhattan, and Girl in Progress. In each of these movies or shows, the main character appears as the stereotypical Hispanic woman. This is what many Hispanic women and girls believe that the world sees them as. They also believe that this is how they should look. This especially affects adolescent girls that identify as Hispanic. media use may play a role in the body image development of Latina adolescents (Schooler, 2008, p. 134). Most of the time when watching television, Latinas see a white woman and their beauty standards. The difference between white women in the media as opposed to Latin women is that there is a greater variety of how white women in the U.S. look. When a Latina finally sees someone who is Latina, they expect to see themselves, instead, they see Eva Mendes, long wavy hair, curvy, and petite. When young Latin women see this, they expect themselves to be the same way. If they don t look like that, it can result in a spoiled body image of themselves. Latina women in this sample tended to hold the lowest perceptions of their bodies, the highest awareness of Consumerism as a factor in the body/beauty standard, and scored high in racial identification (Poran, 2002, p. 79) Latin women understand who they are and when someone is of the same background. Many are also self conscious about their bodies, and that is likely due to the fact that not only are actresses on TV shows thin and curvy, but many commercials are about the newest way to lose weight rapidly, or what to buy to get curves. All women of any race have issues with body Image, but as a Latina, the media plays a big role in how Latinas form their body image. According to the media s portrayal of Latin women, there are two ways Latin women act. The first way is passive, pure, and dependent on men; the second way is wild, ... • 9. Restraint Essay Restraint Restraint is a major idea in Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness. Restraint constantly influences the decisions people make. Kurtz s lack of restraint kills him, while Marlow s restraint saves and prevents him from becoming like Kurtz. Kurtz is a man who [kicks] himself loose of the earth (Conrad, 61). He does not have allegiance to anyone except to himself. Kurtz s absence of restraint exists because he holds a lusty power in an un civilized country. Restraint is affected by three factors; power, lust, and his surroundings. Kurtz s display of restraint is a prime example that exemplifies the affect of these three factors on restraint. He uses guns in order to frighten the natives. Through fear, the natives grew to worship Kurtz. He becomes leader of the villages; a deity. Kurtz exercises his power by conquering additional villages and even by executing people. Exterminate all the brutes (Conrad, 46)! Kurtz eliminates rebels who get in his way. He slices off their heads and then displays them outside of his house. This serves as a warning to his people to not betray him. In a sense, Kurtz is at the top of the food chain. He has great power and uses it without restraint to satisfy his desires. After raiding villages and obtaining followers, Kurtz becomes very power hungry. He enjoys having power; compiling ivory and having worshipers. He abuses his power without restraint. • 11. The Sacred Canopy Summary In his book, The Sacred Canopy: Elements of a Sociological Theory of Religion, Peter L. Berger details a sociological approach to viewing religion as a human necessity. Berger argues that humans go through the process of world building in order to create the human specific order they lack biologically. Berger s theory depends primarily on three key aspects: externalization, objectivation, and internalization. Through these social and cognitive processes, humans create society, culture, and ultimately religion. Looking at religion through Berger s sociological lens effectively identifies how religions and their various beliefs have come to be accepted in our society. In my second visit to the Islamic Center of San Antonio my aim was to hone in on the most deeply fixed aspects of Islam in an effort to trace them back through Berger s three stages of world building. For instance, one of the most striking aspects of members of the Islamic Center of San Antonio is their strict commitment to prayer. The members I spoke with emphasized the importance of sticking to the Salah (daily prayers plus the Friday prayer) times. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 14. The Ethics Of Citizen Journalism And Traditional Media In today s age, anyone can be a reporter. Traditional media is where news has been shared by trained journalists for decades, however, citizen journalism has skyrocketed in recent years with the growth of the Internet. These citizen journalists have no professional training in journalism collecting and news distribution (Netzley). Citizen journalists are collecting, reporting, analyzing, and disseminating news without any formal training but provides independent, relevant information (Barnes). Traditional media outlets are not being outdone by citizen journalism in today s society, but their platform is growing rapidly. The ethics of citizen journalism is not growing at the same rate as its platform and relevance in today s world. Producing and sharing media has become much easier which has given citizen journalists a much larger platform than ever before. Social media, blogs, and production material such as FinalCutPro are making it easier and faster to get media out there compared to traditional media sources (Roberts and Steiner, 1). Citizen journalists are much more equipped with being able to share news from what is happening at the scene of an event. These can be photos, videos, or a number of different sources from major events in history such as September 11th and the more recent Las Vegas attack (Barnes). • 17. Sermon On The Baptist Of The Nazarene This past Sunday, at Woodview Church of the Nazarene, we had the pleasure of hearing our senior pastor, Mark Walker, preach. Pastor Mark had been on sabbatical for most of August, all of September and the first part of October and has been back just a few weeks. This sermon was just the second he has preached since coming back from that sabbatical. Pastor Mark, preaching on All Saints Day, took the opportunity to preach a message on the importance of remembrance and anticipation. He choose the text of Revelation 21:1 8, a passage concerning the age to come. This was also tied into our monthly celebration of communion, although we frequently celebrate communion more often than that. Pastor Mark spoke on the inspiration of those saints that have gone before us, the future final redemptive work of Christ and the final judgment. Pastor Mark s choice of text was fitting for All Saints Day and leading into the Eucharist. He utilized the form of the text, being apocalyptic, to shape a message of hope inspired by the saints who have gone before who have trusted in the promise of God s future redemptive work. Pastor Mark took the promise of God s future in the age to come to inspire the congregation to follow wholeheartedly after God, just as the saints within our congregation have before. He encourage us to never forget what God has done in our lives and preserve in our walk. As with so many of God s promises there is always a warning and Pastor Mark took an opportunity to ... Second Amendment. Throughout history, this sentence of twenty seven words has caused an intense debate. The polemic is that some people claim that a gun control policy is unconstitutional, while others disagree and even say it is necessary in order to reduce crime. Now, what does gun control mean? Supporters of gun control claim that if there were no guns on the streets, massacres like the one in Sandy Hook could have been prevented. Gun control supporters also argue that arming everyone will not save you from getting killed. They argue that in a gun shooting everything happens fast and you usually do not have time react to the situation. Moreover gun control supporters state that it is more difficult to buy a medicine than to order ammunition online from your home. In the article Just how easy is it to buy a gun over the Internet? published in The Washington Post by Brad Plumer. The author explains that even though the Gun Control Act of 1968 prohibits the direct shipping of firearms, there are sellers that are willing to sell their guns even when researchers explicitly stated that they probably couldn t pass a background check . This shows the weakness of the current gun regulations and the need for stronger and efficient laws that reduces murder rates. Supporters of gun control say that banning guns is the key to prevent massacres in public places or institutions. The concept of trinity was actually confirmed in the Bible. For example, the Gospels of John repeats that Jesus is God and calls him Lord, a title reserved for Yahweh. In addition, Jesus s divinity was established by pre Nicene church fathers, such as Ignatius of Antioch, Justin Martyr, Tertullian and Origen. Nonetheless, Constantine held a meeting at Nicaea in 325 and invited around 318 bishops to resolve the dispute (Hangen). The result was nothing close to what Brown claims to be a relatively close vote (Brown 204). Out of all the bishops, only two refused to sign the Nicene Creed that recognized Jesus as the Son of God (Barnett). Brown s statement is absurd and clearly misleading. His assertion that questions Jesus s divinity because of the close vote at the Council of Nicaea is inconsistent with historical context. Some might argue that some bishops were forced to sign the agreement. It is true that there were originally seventeen bishops opposed to the proposal, and the number reduced to two after Constantine threatened exile. What Oprah means by this statement is that hard work and effort are the key to meeting opportunity. When someone succeeds and another fails, it is not because of how lucky either of them were, but how much of an effort each of them had made. I agree with Oprah Winfrey because hard work and effort are more important. First, opportunity is rare to come by making it better to have the experience of taking.
