Essay about Cocoanut Grove Fire
From the Ashes Fire protection engineering, or the application of science and engineering to
protect people and their environment from fire, has been around for centuries. The problem with
advancements in this field is that they are preventative and, if ahead of their time, often seen as
unnecessary. As a result, they are usually not considered or implemented until after severe tragedy
has struck. A prime example of this is also the first recorded use of fire protectionengineering. In
AD 64, Emperor Nero had regulations drawn up that required fireproof materials used in the
external walls to the city. This, of course, happened only after an estimated seventy percent of
Rome was lost to fire. More noticeable regulations happened... Show more content on

Not many got through before the pushing lodged the door shut. Others in the main club moved
toward the hinged door that opened out to Shawmut Street, and many did escape out this way.
The patrons inside the Broadway Lounge, being the farthest away from the lobby, were only
alerted to the fire when guests from the main club area ran in looking for an exit. The fire, having
started approximately five minutes ago, was now in full force. The smoke, flames, and heat
quickly caused all in the lounge to panic and the only available exit, an inward opening door that
led to Broadway Street, was blocked shut within moments. (Thomas)
Firefighters were on the scene seconds after the blaze started. The department already had several
units on the block for an automobile fire and immediately went to work rescuing people near the
entrances. Once they realized how dire the situation was, they called for more and more help.
Firefighters and citizens broke the windows on the Shawmut Street side of the building in an
attempt to pull as many people out as possible. The victims, suffering from smoke inhalation and
burns, were transported as quickly as possible to area hospitals. When they ran out of ambulances
and emergency vehicles, newspaper trucks were used. (Thomas) For over an hour, Boston City
Hospital averaged a new patient every 11 seconds. Out of the first 200 to arrive, 150 had already

Internet Predators
Why we should be worried about the Deep web
Unknown to most, the Deep Web actually exists and only takes a few clicks on your computer
to access it, if you know what you re doing. Also unknown to most is the illegal activity and the
online predators that are roaming all over the web. These predators can be financial predators or
sexual predators. Throughout this essay I will be explaining three themes in chronological order.
Financial predators, sexual predators, and discussing why the illegal activity on the Deep web is
bad for society.
Financial predators are everywhere on the web, and they might cost you a fortune. Financial
predators host scams and use fake identities to get bank details to rip you off through an online
purchase that you think is safe. An example of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As thousands of sexual predators roam the web and on most commonly used sites, only 18% of
youth use chat rooms, however the majority of internet initiated sex crimes against children are
initiated in chat rooms. An example of a sexual predator could be an online predator targeting
young victims trying to get sexual related images from them by targeting young vulnerable
people, unable to judge the seriousness of the situation or through blackmail. This is what
happened in the case of Scottish teenager Daniel Perry earlier this year, resulting in his suicide.
Sexual predators can also be connected to the Deep web by exploiting nudity or sexual content
of a child or young adult on a CP website, which stands for child pornography. These can also be
sold on the Deep web for an exchange of bitcoin. These are just more examples of why we should
be worried and most importantly informed of how dangerous the Deep web is so we can avoid the
bad situations we may come

How Is Semiotics Used In Pleasantville
I don t understand people who dream in black and white. I just don t get it. My dreams have
always been vivid color. This was a statement given in an interview by Director Gary Ross after
the release of his film, Pleasantville. Pleasantville, a film that basically represents anti nostalgia,
takes the use of Technicolor and uses it as a metaphor for peoples desires, fears, and maturation.
Pleasantville follows life of David and his rebellious sister Jennifer. One night, after arguing about
what they want to watch for television, a mysterious repairman shows up and hands them a
supposed magical remote. As the fight continues, the two teens accidentally zap themselves into the
world of Pleasantville . Now, David and Jennifer must conform to the ultra conservative 50s
lifestyle all while trying to find their way home.
With implementation of color to represent the growth of characters in the Pleasantville world, the
use of semiotics is noticed and recognized throughout the film. Semiotics can be described as the
study of signs and symbols and their use or interpretation. This is an interesting aspect to the film
because this was a subtle way for director to show growth of his characters through visual ques.
whenever something breaks the mold of Pleasantville s traditional values with the use of modernity,
chaos in the town begins to ensue. This is worthy to do a critical piece about because semiotics
represent/initiate a change from the nostalgic 1950 s representation seen

Ramayana Ascetic Viswamirtha
Stories are tools a culture uses to teach its members various lessons about social order, ritual,
cosmological events, and social norms. Within the RДЃmДЃyana, every place, element, and person
has a story from the past to share. Each story is fundamentally important to obtaining moksha, or
full awareness and understanding of the universe. It is important to note that the ascetic,
Viswamithra, teaches this lesson to Rama. Viswamirtha is considered to be a holy man who deters
from worldly connections. This allows him to become aware and immersed in all of the stories of
the universe and to learn from them. It is important for Rama to hear these stories so that he too
will learn how to make the right and just choices that will lead him towards ultimate

The Windows that Changed Our World Essay
How Windows can change our lives? is the question of the hour. The Windows that is being
spoken of is the Windows operating program on the computer in the typical office, the typical
home and even and the typical classroom now. Windows is the primary and most popular
operating system for these personal computers. Computers have had a profound effect on the
typical American s life over the last fifteen years. Life in the U.S.A has changed because of the
technological advances in micro computers as they were once called. PC s as they are now called
have transformed many aspects of how people work, play, socialize, organize, communicate or
correspond, and even learn. Businesses have been revolutionized. They used to keep all their...

In this way they are able to connect unlike any way they could have 10 years ago. There are good
and bad effects in the ways that computers have changed the way American s socialize. Social
venues such as Facebook, MySpace, Friendster, My Yearbook and others have brought together
old friends and become the place to meet new friends. People that have not connected in years
reconnect. However a problem in this new social world is the applications that are addicting.
There are places , games, as in Yoville, Farmville, My Town and many more that become
addictive and steal family time and reality away. People have even had to seek addiction help
because of these social games. The popular television personality Dr. Phil has had a Farmville
addict on his television program to help her see where she is neglecting her children and family.
Another problem is the chat rooms give predators another avenue to victimize children. Chris
Hansen from MSNBC has a program, To Catch a Predator, which exposes this problem and the
predators. On to a better influence of computers and our Windows to the new world with discussion
of something so important in today s busy, busy world... organization. Windows has programs like
Microsoft Works that help to organize life. There are forms for chore charts, birthday cards, home
inventory list, budgets and more. There are of course web sites and programs for these
organizational gems. There are

Total Forms Control Case Summary
1. Total Forms Control (TFC) fit well into Western s strategy when it was initially implemented. It
allowed Western to offer these value added services to their customers that most of their
competitors did not. Total Forms Control should have increased Western s margins and helped
them to increase the loyalty and number of customers. TFC was not performing up to
expectations. It had become an increasingly time consuming process and profits from TFC had
been consistently declining over the past several years, projected to drop a total of 14% in only
two years.
2. The current accounting system charged all customers participating in the TFC program the same
standard rates regardless of the level or frequency of services provided. There ... Show more content

4. Distributing services using activity based costing reveals that Customer A is a highly more
profitable consumer to Western than Customer B, despite identical net sales (see attached).
Customer A uses less storage, delivery services, has fewer requisitions and a smaller inventory
balance, making them a more inexpensive customer to service, in comparison to Customer B.
5. An analysis of the individual customer accounts suggest that TFC s current pricing model is
ineffective. They are undercharging an alarming number of their customers thereby reducing their
overall profitability. Based on this information, managers will hopefully elect to implement the
services based pricing model so that customers are charged based on the services they are actually
consuming. Ideally, changing the current pricing model will resolve the issue of customers
reducing profit by 140% and 60% (Exhibit 8, numbers 3 and 4). If there are still profit draining
customers, management should revisit and assess accordingly, either further increasing fees to
those customers so their contribution is positive, or perhaps dropping these customers to increase
overall profitability.
6. I think the largest issues in adopting Service Based Pricing would be the opposition from the
salespeople and the customers. In most cases, fees will increase and it s unlikely that this change
will be welcomed by either party. Western may lose customers if

Paganism In Beowulf
В¬By definition, a Pagan is a person who has religious beliefs other than those of the main world
religion. The epic poem Beowulf was passed down verbally from generation to generation with
enlightening Pagan teachings and elements. Christian elements were not included in the poem until
a Christian monk added them when it was put as written text. However, the Christian aspects
collide with the Pagan elements found in the poem. Beowulfwas originally told with only Pagan
elements. In the article The Essential Pagan Elements in Beowulf , it explains Pagan elements
included in the story such as dragons and magic. We do not hear anything about saints, angels, or
any particular dogmatic points (Moorman). In the Pagan religionwhen a hero or important... Show

Things such as magic, unnatural creatures, and strange scenarios play a huge role in their faith.
However, Christians believe that things such as dragons, witches, magic and the dark arts are of
Satan. While the Pagans view the dragon as a fire breathing, greedy creature keeping treasure in
its lair, the Christians view it as the devil making the setting of hell. The equivalent of Beowulf
in the Christian faith would be Jesus Christ. He came into the world (lair) and freed us from sins
(hell). Pagans view Beowulf as having superhuman powers that let him overcome any trial he
may face. For example of Beowulf s strength, he lifted the giant s magical sword when nobody
else could. His strength is matched by Christian faith with the story of Jesus was resurrected and
came out from the tomb he was buried in. Beowulf fought for peace in the land of Geatland and
Danes. Christ made peace with everyone. They both share qualities of the desire for peace. The
biggest comparison between Beowulf and Jesus Christ is when they both died to save other
people. According to Christian belief, Christ was crucified to save everyone from death.
Beowulf was killed by the dragon in order to save someone else and to calm his soul from the
loss of his village. Christ also found his true followers when he was carrying the cross and they
came to help him. Just like in Beowulf how Wiglaf is Beowulf s companion because he fights by
his side through thick and thin.

Allyl Test Lab Report
The presence of anomeric proton signal at Оґ 6.03 (d, J = 3.3 Hz, 1H) indicated the existance of the
furanose sugar. In 13C NMR spectrum, a high field methylene (confirm by DEPT) carbon signal at
пЃ¤пЂ 36.6 and a quaternary carbon peak (C=N) at пЃ¤пЂ 154.6 conveyed the formation of the
bridged isoxazoline moiety in 2.27a. The ESI MS of the compound 2.27a showed the
appropriate peak at m/z 412 (M+Na+) corresponding to its molecular formula C19H19NO8Na.
The structure of 2.27a was further corroborated by 1H 1H COSY and NOESY experiments.
However in the NOESY spectrum no co relations were found between either bridgehead proton, or
bridged methylene protons with other pre existing carbohydrate chiral centers (Figure 2. 1). It is

Thus 2.25c was synthesized for cycloaddition reaction which again gave rise to 12 membered
bridged isoxazoline 2.27c exclusively in 61% yield (Scheme 2. 14). The 1H and 13C NMR
spectrum of 2.27c exhibits all the characteristics features of bridged observed as in the cases of
2.27a and 2.27b. Appearance of two sets of double doublets at пЃ¤ 3.89 (J = 18.6, 3.0 Hz) and 3.30
(JпЂЅ 18.6, 12.0 Hz) in 1H NMR spectrum and a methylene carbon signal at пЃ¤ 38.4 as well as
quaternary carbon signal (C=N) at пЃ¤ 158.0 was a clear indication of the bridged isoxazoline
nature of 2.27c. Like the NOESY experiments of 2.27a, here again we could not see any cross
peaks (Figure 2. 4) with either the bridgehead proton or bridged methylene protons with the
protons of carbohydrate chiral centers at C 3 and C 4 (with respect to sugar skeleton). Thus the
configuration of bridged methylene is assigned as пЃў oriented. Therefore, it can be concluded that
the change of stereochemistry at C 3 of carbohydrate or changing ally ester to allyl amide does not
have any effect on the regioselectivity of the cycloaddition. It is worthy to mention that in all cases
reactions are highly regio and diastereoselective in nature, because a single product was isolated in

Deficiency and Sufficiency of Critical Factors Greatly affect Attrition and leverage Retention (in IT
Companies) A Case Study of IT Companies in India
Abstract
The IT/ITES sector is the backbone of Indian economy. It earns lot of foreign income to boost the
Indian economy. Even in the economic turmoil over the globe, particularly in developed countries,
though this sector had little affected, could come out successfully managing the entire economic
imbroglio. High attrition in the IT/ITES industry has always been its greatest concern and a subject
of much analysis and debate. Organizations use different methodologies for calculating their
attrition rate. HR experts feel that it is a know factor that attrition calculation is gray area which
does not always depict the true picture while a few techniques are common there are no proven
theories yet. Further, the approach to this calculation might vary from organization to organization.
The Tamil Nadu, Particularly, Chennai is considered to be one of the biggest IT hubs in India
having presence of very big IT companies. The availability of skilled employees with cheap labour
cost in Tamil Nadu is an important reason. AT the same time the rate of attrition are also felt in
these companies. Presently, Tier II cities like Madurai, and Coimbatore were taken place in the IT
map. The employee retention is also felt in the IT companies situated in Madurai also. In this
context, the researchers, attempted to find out the reasons for

Stress And Heart Stress
Sometimes physical stress can contribute to having a heart attack. Doing intense physical activity
will make the hormone adrenaline is released during intense physical activity. There is also very
low blood levels of potassium or magnesium, major blood loss, and lack of oxygen. Also the
tendency to have arrhythmias run in some families and is passed through genes. An example of
this is long QT syndrome, which is a disorder of the hearts electrical activity. The problems with
tiny pores on the surface of heart muscle cells cause the disorder. Some people choose to drink too
much alcohol or smoke cigarettes to control their stress, but these habits can increase bloodpressure
and damage arterywalls. And your body s response to stress may be a headache, back strain, or
stomach pains. Stress can also strip your energy, mess up your sleep and make you feel cranky,
forgetful and out of control. A stressful situation will set off a chain of events. Your body
releases adrenaline, a hormone that temporarily causes your breathing and heart rate to speed up
and your blood pressure to rise. When stress is constant, your body remains in high gear off and
on for days or weeks at a time. Although the link between stress and heart disease isn t clear,
chronic stress may cause some people to drink too much alcohol which will increase your blood
pressure and damage the artery walls.
There are certain people are at certain risk for sudden cardiac arrest. The risk factor increases

During the early 1950 s, Deming was invited to Japan to aide in he recovery of Japan s economy.
Going through a period of economic hardship and declines, the Japanese Union of Scientists and
Engineers (JUSE) called on Deming s expertise. In 1980, Dr. Deming introduced 14 key factors
behind this idea of quality management. Gitlow (1994) notes the following as 14 points discussed
in Deming s work, Out of the Crisis . (see Appendix 1). After Deming s success with his Japanese
counter partners, many North American manufacturers began to focus in on the Japanese strategies.
The Japanese not only adopted Deming s ideas for manufacturing, but also expanded them to
include administrative and service industries. The implementation of quality concepts began to
flourish along with the techniques that focused in on employee motivation, measurement, and
rewards (Hick, 1998). During the eighties, quality improvement had yet again changed names and
was referred to as Total Quality Management (TQM). Hick (1998) also explains that the continuous
improvement process should be driven from the top, but implemented from the bottom (p.2). Next

The Temples Of Egypt And Ancient Egypt
The temples of Egypt were (and still are) associated with a great deal of religious value. The
temples were built to be the homes of the gods and goddesses of the land. Ancient Egyptians
believed in the importance of pleasing their gods. As a result, they ensured that beautiful and
magnificent temples were built to be the homes of these gods. In this regard, these temples were
also used as places of worship (Redford, 1971). These temples were therefore the places where the
Egyptians spent most of their time performing rituals, sacrifices, giving offerings and performing
festivals among others . All these activities served to ensure that the gods were pleased and that
they would bless the lands in the long haul. The kings and pharaohs of Egyptwere also allowed to
live in these temples because of their status in society.
There are many temples in Egypt that are o significance importance. Some of them have become
ruined because of their age but many of them are still standing at present. Just like the pyramids,
these temples have become major tourist attractions for the country. This is attributed to the fact
that they portray the heritage and culture of the country that is embedded in religion. For this
reason, some of these temples have even been recognized by UNESCO as world heritage sites.
The aim of this paper is to therefore analyze one of these temples. This paper will analyze the Abu
Simbel temple. The paper will go into detail to discuss the significance and imagery

Adrenal Gland Essay
Adrenal gland
In mammals, the adrenal glands (also known as suprarenal glands) are the triangular shaped
endocrine glands that sit on top of the kidneys. They are chiefly responsible for releasing hormones
in conjunction with stress through the synthesis of corticosteroids and catecholamines, including
cortisol and adrenaline (epinephrine), respectively.
Anatomy and function
Anatomically, the adrenal glands are located in the retroperitoneum situated atop the kidneys, one
on each side. They are surrounded by an adipose capsule and renal fascia. In humans, the adrenal
glands are found at the level of the 12th thoracic vertebra. Each adrenal gland is separated into two

The suprarenal veins may form anastomoses with the inferior phrenic veins.
The adrenal glands and the thyroid gland are the organs that have the greatest blood supply per
gram of tissue. Up to 60 arterioles may enter each adrenal gland.[4]
Terminology
The adrenal glands are named for their location relative to the kidneys. The term adrenal comes
from ad (Latin, near ) and renes (Latin, kidney ). Similarly, suprarenal is derived from supra
(Latin, above ) and renes. Colloquially, they are referred to as kidney hats .
Adrenal cortex
Situated along the perimeter of the adrenal gland, the adrenal cortex mediates the stress response
through the production of mineralocorticoids and glucocorticoids, including aldosterone and
cortisol respectively. It is also a secondary site of androgen synthesis. Contents * 1 Layers * 2

Spartacus Corruption
Spartacus takes place during the first century BC, in the ancient roman empire. this empire has slid
into corruption and moral decay, extensively employing the work of slaves to carry out the lesser
jobs of society. these slaves are often mistreated, abused, exploited, and worked until death, as
shown in the opening scene where Spartacuss friend dies from work exhaustion. This opening
scene takes place in a Roman salt mine in the province of Libya, where a large group of slaves
toil with pick and axe to extract the precious mineral from the ground, and Roman soldiers guard,
and abuse the slaves. the commentary tells us of the hopelessness of the soldiers situation, and that

Spartacus one night, and instead of the performing the regular sexual acts with one another, they

Tuba Performance Review Essay
What intrigues me the most about the tuba in this performance is that it is possible to play the
lower notes very loudly. Normally, playing lower pitches in the tuba requires slow buzzing and a
lot of air. Towards the end, the soloist belted out the incredibly low notes. Additionally, throughout
the performance, I felt a range of emotions from feelinghappy to very anxious. The short staccato
notes makes me feel cheerful but towards the end, the low pitched long notes makes me feel
anxious and worried. Lastly, the short staccato notes that plays in a fast tempo intrigues me the
most. Personally, it is a challenge for me to play shorter notes at a fast tempo therefore I am
mesmerized that it is attainable.

Implied Repealand Essay
The first issue of constitutional propriety that arises in this problem is whether the Scottish
Government has the authority to block the UK Parliament from re reserving powers returned to the
UK after leaving the EU. The matters that are currently reserved by the UK parliament are laid out
in Schedule 5 of the Scotlandact 1998 and include: defence, immigration, foreign policy and many
more. The process of leaving the EU, through the triggering of Article 50, and the subsequent Great
Repeal Bill would result in the immediate repeal of the European Communities Act 1972 thus
ending the jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice in Britain.
The 1972 act was signed into law to allow the UK to join the European Economic Community,

This would be the case unless the UK parliament expressly repealed, or amended schedule 5 of the
Scotland Act 1998 to reserve more powers.
If the UK parliament were to repeal the Scotland act in order to re reserve powers, it would have
to do so explicitly because the Scotland Act is a constitutional piece of legislation. In BH v The
Lord Advocate, Lord Hope said in his judgement that the Scotland Act can only be expressly
repealed; it cannot be impliedly repealed; that is because of its fundamental constitutional nature .
The notion of constitutional legislation requiring explicit repeal and not simply being repealable
through the constitutional doctrine of implied repeal was first discussed in R v Thoburn. The
doctrine of implied repeal means that, where two pieces of primary legislation appear to be in
conflict, the more recent legislation impliedly repeals the earlier one. However, in R v Thoburn,
Lord Justice Laws surmised that there are some pieces of legislation so fundamentally important to
the UK constitution that they cannot be impliedly repealed. Laws included both the Scotland Act
1998 and the European Communities Act 1972 on his list of constitutional statutes. He deemed that
if acts such as these were to be repealed, then they should be done so expressly. This hierarchical
view of parliamentary acts, with

Overall, the global economic and financial crisis has put pressure on governments around the world
to cut spending, deficits and debts, and allocate scarce public resources more effectively and

This work has spawned various specialized PERs such as UNDP s Climate Public Expenditure
and Institutional Reviews (CPEIR) which focus on climate change finance and UNICEF s Child
Focused Public Expenditure Reviews which focus on child related public expenditure (I have been
able to identify only three Child focused PERs which have been conducted in Macedonia, Gabon
and the Republic of Central Africa).
Despite the heightened concern, there is no standard or unified framework or methodology for
carrying out public expenditure analysis. A review of the WB s PERs has found that there is no
consistency in PER s methodology and quality. Many PERs did not use explicit criteria for
analyzing public spending or did not analyze relevant expenditure categories (i.e. major programs
within sectors). More importantly, many of them did not analyze institutional processes and did not
follow up to build government capacity. Over time, the WB has strengthened the PER methodology
and their quality has substantially increased. UNDP (in cooperation with ODI) is also trying to
strengthen the methodology for the conduct of CPEIRs and their ownership by client governments.
Given the increased attention and funding that children issues have received over time, public
spending directly or indirectly related to the achievement of children s rights and wellbeing has

Examples Of Racism In Harry Potter
In 1997, a new children s author, J.K. Rowling, released a book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher
s Stone, and took the world and the wizarding world by storm. The Harry Potter franchise, which
later went on to include seven books and eight movie adaptations, tells the story of a young wizard,
named Harry Potter, and his rag tag group of friends as they battle Lord Voldemort and his loyal
followers of Death Eaters. The books follow Harry, who at first did not know he was a wizard
and had to adapt to his new world, and his friends as they struggle to find a balance between
school, relationships, and fighting for their lives against He Who Must Not Be Named, a phrase
used to describe Voldemort because of how evil of a wizard he is. The book covers a long list of
tropes such as good versus evil, the struggle for power, and the most obvious and important the
hero s journey. Although the series is marketed as a book for children and young adults, hidden
beneath the mystical and fantastical story of Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling uses the series to tackle
deeper and more meaningful topics such as racism, ethnic cleansing, and classism. Although it is
hard to find evidence of racism in the beginning of the Harry Potter series, it becomes more
evident as Harry Potter and his two best friends, Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger, venture
outside of the Hogwarts School of Witch Craft and Wizardry. The feud between the people who

Typically, 2 people will form an opinion of others within the first 3 seconds of meeting one

Then the business man, as he will be referred to in order to make this example simpler, that
passed the average man, the one in the t shirt and jeans, acquired the most disgusted look
possible to have been seen on a man s face, simply because of the fact that his clothes were more
expensive than the average man. The business man s face contorted in a truly repulsive fashion.
His eyebrows drew towards the center of his face and down to his nose. His eyes squinted and
became even more beady and harsh looking than they had before. His upper lip curled upwards on
the right side and revealed his blindingly white teeth. His nose wrinkled along the bridge. This is
an obvious sign that the business man believed that he was better than the average man by far.

Christianity, Christianity And The Teachings Of Christianity
Christianity has specific teachings within its religion that all christians practice. Christians believe
in the Trinity which is the Father, Son, and the Holy spirit. God is the father, son is Jesus, and the
holy spirit is a spirit. Another teaching of Christianity is that christian life is marked by baptism.
Baptism is when christians are submerged in water or water is sprinkled over their head and it
symbolizes purification. They practice this teaching because they believe that it is a way of
recognizing that Jesusdied for their sins, was buried in a tomb, and rose from the dead. Christians
also teach that the Bible is the word of God and they believe in the Bible and what the Bible says.
Islamteaches The Five Pillars of Islam. The Five Pillars of Islam are Faith, Prayer, Charity,
Fasting, and Pilgrimage. Faith is the belief of one god, Prayer is praying five times a day,
Charity is giving or donating to those in need, Fasting is only eating after sunset to sunrise for a
whole month, and Pilgrimage is the journey to Mecca. The Five Pillars of Islam are practiced by
every Muslim. Another teaching within Islam is that they all believe in one god who is named
Allah. The last teaching is that Muhammad who was the last prophet of their god Allah is the
messiah, which means Muhammad is their messenger of god.
Monotheism is believing in only one god. Both Christianity and Islam are Monotheistic religions
and believe in the same god. They are also similar because

White Tailed Deer Suicides Analysis
When you think of a mammal who regularly kills humans, the white tailed deer does not come to
mind. Unfortunately, the white tailed deer often jumps in front of vehicles, causing more than one
million collisions resulting in over two hundred deaths a year. In James Gorman s article, he
persuaded me that by bringing the eastern cougar back to its original home, the number of deaths
would significantly reduce. He explains both the benefits and downsides of cougars returning to
their natural habitat.
As a new driver, I am constantly worried of hitting other objects such as cars, mailboxes, and
animals. When deer jump out from the side of the road, I worry that they may cause deadly
accidents. Gorman s article interested me because if there is

All Quiet On The Western Front Summary
The story All Quiet on the Western Front is centered around the German war front during World
War I. Paul Baumer, our narrator, is a young soldier within the German infantry along with a
group of his friends. Baumer and his friends were urged to enlist in the war by their patriotic
teacher who glorified the fighting and how they would be saving their homeland. Our story starts
out on the front lines where Paul and a group of his friends are fighting for their survival. Due to all
the death and mayhem surrounding them they have become disillusioned by the war. They have
quickly learned that it s not the generals or captains out risking their lives, but the ordinary men,
like themselves, who die and suffer through the gloom of the war. They... Show more content on

Before presenting the case study of students who have been involved with the RoboCup Junior, in
the Hunter region, we will highlight the growing success in a snapshot of the past four years and
indicators for the current year of RoboCup Junior in the Hunter Region, as seen in Table 1.
Over the past four years, there has been a general increase in the number of students, teams, and
schools (with the exception of 2015), with a total of 698 (139 Females participants (2012=43,
2013=18, 2014=46, 2015=32)) student participants, with students as young as 10 years of age in
their 4th school year participating in the Hunter Region RoboCup Junior competition. Additionally,
as the initiative matured, we saw an increase in spatial coverage of the schools participating in the
competition; Table 1: Geographical Representation of Participating Schools, which included
schools from the Central coast, and as far north as Camden Haven, and even some elite schools
from the Sydney Region attending the tournament, in 2014.
For this year, in 2016, the event will be held in mid August, and has not been held at the time of
submission of this publication, but indications from our registration database have shown a sharp
increase in the number of participants. The following numbers are set to increase, as the registration
database is still accepting new participants to the tournament. Currently, the numbers stand at over
340 students, with over 100 teams from 27 different schools participating from

Theme Of Loss In Birdsong
The theme of loss is also shown through all three writers work, demonstrated through the
destruction and brutality of the war. In Birdsong Stephen appears a strange and isolated figure at
the beginning of the novel who brings with him concepts of unrest, as he possesses a knife with a
singular scrupulously sharpened blade which suggests the idea of conflict. As well as losing
Isabelle in a romantic sense, he experiences extreme loss and privation throughout his time in the
war, particularly the lossof Weir and Jack Firebrace that are dealt with in graphic but simplistic
language. Weir s death occurs suddenly and within one paragraph his face is said to be smashing
unprotected into mud . Stephen is pained by his death and even feels he had loved him and he had

When he dies, Stephen is left alone in the tunnel feeling bitterly alone , which demonstrates the
need for companionship to survive. The idea of loss is also shown when Elizabeth visits the
memorial and notices the columns teeming with names of unfound soldiers. Her response to
this is one of shock as she appeared unaware of the multitude of deaths and collapses saying My
God, nobody told me . This emphasises the extent of loss from a postwar perspective, which
makes it appear even more tragic. As Birdsong was written after the war, its purpose was to
commemorate the losses and honour the dead, as well as educate and promote remembrance.
Loss features just as graphically in Dulce et Decorum Est written by Owen during his time in
Craiglockheart hospital, as it is a poem that uses Latin to mock the glory of war and demonstrate
the pain and death it can cause. The poem describes a true account of a soldier being unable to
protect himself quickly enough during a gas attack and the haunting effect of this helpless

Telephoto Lens
A telephoto lens can also change the perspective of the picture, giving a completely new angle or
focus to your photo. Also, telephoto lenses are handy at compressing perspective. This is when
the background of a photo appears to be closer to the subject than what is experienced with the
naked eye. This is beneficial when you cannot physically move your subject closer to the
background. You can also fill the frame of your photo by getting shots from a far distance. This
will bring in objects further back into the frame, filling out the edges of your shot nicely. With
this lens, you can isolate far away objects much better than with a wide angle lens. Since the
telephoto zoom closes the distance between you and your subject, it is ideal for capturing pictures
of wildlife. Next to using an actual telescope, a telephoto lens is the best way to photograph the
moon. It can show features and definition of the moon that your DSLR would otherwise not pick
up. This lens can also capture action shots, as well as create a shallow depth of... Show more content

depth of field. A strong depth of field is when the background seems to go on forever, and there
are many defining features you can pick out. This is very popular in landscape and other
environmental pictures when there is not one specific subject, but instead the scenery is the most
important element of the photo. As you can see, there are many reasons why a wide angle lens may
interest you. Prices start in the $150 range, and increase depending on brand and specifications.

Before The Individual Referendums For Scottish Independence
Before the individual referendums for Scottish independence and EU independence political
interest and election turnout amongst young people was statistically low and steadily decreasing.
This changed for the referendums but it is doubtful however there will be a high turnout of young
people in forthcoming local and national elections. Young people tend to vote on single topics, for
single issue parties and in referendums more than elections. If 16 year olds could vote more needs
to be done to gain young people s interest in politics.
Young people are interested in politics, and do have faith in the democratic process. Nonetheless,
the political system and the established parties and politicians that dominate it, are together failing to

There would also be an increase in manifestos aimed to be of interest to and benefit to young
people because politicians would want their vote. There would also be a rise in policies aimed at
young people of all classes, gender and sexual orientation. Single issue based referendums may
educate young people about the consequences of their vote but politics learnt from citizenship in
school would teach young people about the differences in political parties, and the consequences,
such as having the referendum at all.
On the one hand, turnout among 16 and 17 year olds was about 10 percentage points below
overall turnout. On the other hand, 16 and 17 year olds were more likely to vote than those aged
18 to 34. The same trend is evident elsewhere too. In Austria the only European state with votes at
16 for national elections this age bracket votes less than the entire population but more than the
subsequent bracket. (Alan Renwick and Barney McCay 2015). Politics as a standalone subject
would encourage more participation as the combination of lessons about policy, media and up to
date current affairs would personally relate to the individuals such as parents being fined for
truancy, free school meals etc.
Citizenship lessons educate young people about morals and principles within society. Teaching
politics in schools would also educate and inform young people about political parties manifestos.

each stage benefiting towards a reward. Although many of my moments have not been a heroic act

Shakespeare s main tragedies, King Lear was first printed in 1608. This initial printing is now
referred to as the First Quarto. Another Quarto version was printed in 1619, and King Lear
appeared again in a 1623 Folio edition. King Lear would be an excellent choice for the most
virtuosic play Shakespeare ever wrote. It has great verbal brilliance but so too do Hamlet, Romeo

Who Invented The Flour Industry
What did you have for breakfast this morning? Was it cereal or toast these items and many more
contain flour. Without the help of the flour industry you probably wouldn t of been able to eat
those items. The flour industry has been around for many years. It s a big part of history and still
plays a very important role. The flour industry started at least two hundred years ago. The flour
industry is still very important today.
The start of the flour industry was very small. However the reason the flour industry was very
small was that it was just the beginning of it, and many people did not know how profitable it
would be. Another reason it was so small was that many people did not know if it was going to
be a waste of money, because it was very expensive to pay for everything. In order to make this a
successful industry the flour industry would need many employees such as farmers, railroad
workers, machinists who tended to the large machines, barrel makers, packers who caught flour
after it was poured off of the assembly line. Without enough farmers selling wheatto the flour
companies or them having farmers that worked there they didn t have as much wheat to make the
flour. Which meant for the flour companies less flour was able to be made. ... Show more content on

The Is A Humanitarian Catastrophe
Syria
Aleppo is a humanitarian catastrophe. Frequent air and chemical attacks leaves the average
Syrian civilian in fear for their lives on a daily basis. With the Western half controlled by the
Bashar al Assad government and the Eastern half in controlled by anti government rebels
bloodshed always lingers. For years, power has shifted between the two sides with many outside
forces joining, tipping the power balances. With no end in sight, massive loss of life is becoming a
universal issue.
Inspired by the Arab Spring, revolution was on the horizon in Syria. Fed up with the government
control, rebels have rallied against the government. In nearly five years of armed conflict the
civil war in Syria has claimed nearly 470,000 lives: 400,000 through direct violence and an
additional 70,000 as an indirect result of the war. A governmental regime which uses terrorists
tactics is one that should be looked at as a threat. The president of Syria, Bashar Al Assad, has
carried out a siege against his own civilians in Aleppo trapping them from the rest of the world.
Depriving nearly 250,000 people of food, water, and supplies while bombing them on a daily basis
is simply inhumane (UN News Centre). The government has gone to the point of using chemical
weapons on their own civilians, killing many men, women, and children. The bloodbath is more
than just those who support the Ba ath Party Government and those who want a revolution, but
includes many groups and world powers. Although they

The Extrapyramidal tract consists of tracts that descend directly into the spinal chord, and are
important for motor movement. This system is responsible for refining and regulating the motor
commands. This makes the processes of Laila s speech and walking more controlled and smooth.
On a side note from Laila s speech, there are subsystems within the Extrapyramidal tract. The first is
the Tectospinal tract, which is responsible for orienting the head/eye movements to sudden stimuli.
This allows Laila to turn her eyes and walk to her friends in response to the outside stimuli.
Vestibulospinal tract is located in the pons and medulla to the brainstem. It helps to control Laila s
balance in order to walk. The Reticulospinal tract plays an important part in controlling autonomic
functions. Rubrospinal tract is responsible for skeletal muscle control and is important in regulating
muscle tone for posture. The Pyramidal Tract is the second major pathway for motor planning and

controls voluntary movement of the skeletal muscles. Meaning, this system controls gross motor

Theme Of Repetition In Lord Of The Flies
Imagine being trapped on an island with a group of power hungry boys controlled by savagery
and fear. Lord of the Flies is a story about a group of boys who crashed on an island while flying
to safety away from the war. The main leaders of the boys are Ralph and Jack. Jack leads a group

In chapter nine, a boy named Simon goes to where the beast supposedly is and finds that is is

the others, but they are so encaged in their fear of the beast and the storm that they believe he is

I have always been passionate about math and physics, and in high school, I excelled in both.
As I approached university, I was faced with a dilemma: should I pursue engineering or science?
It was a single, seemingly trivial incident that led to a moment of clarity and solidified my

a person throws it in the air and watches gravity pull it back, she s made for science; and if someone
takes a pen apart to see how it works piecing together the relationship of the spring to the push

Developing A Successful Business Model
A firm understanding of the principle of supply and demand are extremely important in order to
give one the best opportunity to develop a successful business model. The ability to correctly
determine the demand for a product is imperative to ensuring one s product fills a need in the
market. Businesses fail everyday because the demand for their product was miscalculated during
start up. On the other hand, there are many businesses that are successful because they have
developed a product in demand and respond well to changes in demand due to outside factors. Fresh
Healthy Vending provides such a product. With any product, there are things that can change the
demand, cause changes in supply, and change the quantity demanded. There... Show more content

If an organization were to remove all traditional vending machines and replace them with Fresh
Healthy Vending machines, they would increase demand for health food items throughout their
organization by keeping health food available to employees. There are also occurrences that can
change the supply of products as well. Changes in supply can occur for a number of reasons.
Government policies can cause changes in supply. The supply of health food can be directly
affected by government policy changes. Currently, there are subsidies for certain crops grown in
the United States. If a change in policy caused these subsidies to be tied to organic crops, then the
supply of organic products would increase. Technology can also increase the supply of health
foods. There are all sorts of additional colors and preservatives added to food to increase
presentation and shelf life. If one developed a technological advance that illuminated the need for
these additions, the supply of healthier foods to the markets would increase as well. Ultimately, in
order the change the supply for a product, one must change the amount incoming resources, the size
of the labor force, or anything else that allows an organization to produce more of a certain product.
Changes in supply or demand can result in a change in the quantity demanded. Change in demand
and change in quantity demanded are not the same thing. Changes

Essay about Analysis of Teenage Wasteland
The Imperfection of Perfection In Anne Tyler s Teenage Wasteland, the reader is given insight into
the difficulty of parenting through Daisy s desperate attempt to stop her son from his seemingly
uncontrollable downward spiral. The paranoia of her perfect parenting techniques leads to the
tainting of Donny s innocence over time and eventually his mysterious disappearance at the end of
the story. Through symbols of innocence and corruption, Tyler demonstrates the importance of
keeping one s head clear and focused while parenting, and that using common sense and logic is
far more effective than relying on idealism and hope. In the first three lines of the story, the reader
is given a sense of Donny s virtue during youth and how it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The description of the face as endearing and fine featured implies that Daisy believes her son
still has his innocence or perfection. The fact that the dark hair hangs around his face suggests
(in Daisy s eyes) that Donny s out of control behavior only masks his true purity and innocence.
In return, Daisy feels that her son still has the ability to be saved. The change in Donny s
innocence, and his mother s idea that the perfect child exists, is directly correlated to Daisy s view
on parenting throughout the story. It is Daisy s view on parenting that causes her to turn to Cal as a
tutor for Donny in the hopes that he has all the answers. At Cal s house, Donny and the other
teenagers are drawn to the the basketball court. Basketballs are a reoccurring symbol throughout the
story. The narrator states, Spring came, and the students who hung around at Cal s drifted out to the
basketball net above the garage (Tyler 192). Spring often represents new life and youth. The
narrator continues, They d find him there with the othersпЂspiky and excited, jittering on his toes
beneath the backboard (Tyler 192). Donny is jittering and excited while playing basketball during
the spring. Hence, the basketball symbolizes happiness during Donny s youth. A basketball is
mentioned again at the end of the story: It s something fleet and round, a ballпЂa basketball. It flies
up, it sinks through the hoop, descends, lands in a yard

Illegal Interrogation Of Amanda Knox Analysis
The article The Illegal Interrogation of Amanda Knox shows people through their opinions how
the interrogation was illegal. For example, the article states, Amanda Knox was interrogated
repeatedly in the five days following the murder of Meredith Kercher. They also state that
Amanda consistently told the same story over and over again, repeatedly telling the truth, and
that she was told she could not have a lawyer present. This is bias by omission because they only
look at it as if she is not guilty, and only use their language, they do not provide facts that Amanda
actually continuously told the story over and over again. The article does show videos of the
interrogators using physical force and this is physical evidence of the abuse;... Show more content

Also it goes on to explain more techniques they used, for example they ask the suspect to imagine
hypothetical scenarios by feeding the information that they want the suspect to imagine.
Eventually over a long drawn out interrogation, the suspect gets confused and starts complying
with the request being made to imagine the scenarios. Eventually after the long hours of
interrogation with no food or water Amanda did as she had been told and described an imaginary
scenario where she was in the house covering her ears while hearing the screams of meredith
being murdering. After she described it, the police typed it out and this was Amanda s confession
from being interrogated physically and mentally by 12 Italian police, This source shows extreme
bias against the interrogation in general especially through this statement, by word choice, they
have word choice such as long drawn out interrogation , mind games , all of the language is
completely bias and wants the reader to feel bad for amanda. They do provide videos of Amanda
being physically abused in the interrogation and the things that the police said can be heard
however they only include Amanda s view they do not quote anything from the Italian police or
people that supported the interrogation. They quote nothing positive about the

The journey to Assam was descripted in the most...
The journey to Assam was descripted in the most picturesque manner. The beautiful details of
landscape, the rustic beauty of plantation, the greenery and fresh air were breath taking. It was like
watching a dream land.
The morning mist has risen over the valley and evaporated with the dazzling burst of sunlight.
The air was still under the clear even sky. The welter of leafage was tensed beneath the world s
hollow cup. There was a concentrated lull in the slow heart of the day, as if India missed a
heartbeat of the day, in the march of time. (2)
Though Gangu s journey was started on this beautiful note, but we soon find out the ugly truth
concealed behind the mask of this beautiful portrait. Soon enough he realizes how badly he was ...

In the rat race to earn more profit the poor workers were doubly exploited. First by the British
who paid them minimal wage, made them work in unhygienic and often life threatening
conditions. For example when the plague of cholera and malaria was spread among the slum of
these workers, then also they were made to attend the job. Even to apply for a leave they must
visit the locally appointed doctor thrice and even then, if they do not get any better, then only
their plea for leave shall be put under consideration. The second exploitation they had to face
was by their own countrymen. People like the money lender who charge so much interest over
even a small sum of money that with due course of time it become impossible for the victim to
pay back. Middlemen or agents like Buta also falls under the very same category. Speaking of the
truth, they are worse than the money lenders. They target the weakest section of the society. They
approach those who are financially broke with no hope or resource to survive. To those wretches
they lend their divine helping hand, like the blessings of almighty himself and when the close their
eyes and trust these agents, their fates are sealed in eternal darkness. These agents never step back
from weaving tall tales of the plantation site, or telling false stories of prosperity. The innocent
often felt for such traps and are doomed to work for ever in the hellish

Key Argument Of R. B. Bernstein
5.The key argument of R.B. Bernstein throughout all of the book is that we must no longer hold the
Founding Father as a group, but we must treat them as individual humans with flaws, failures, and
diversity. Throughout all of history Americans have debated the original intent of the Founding
Fathers and treated them as if they have superhuman wisdom and their handiwork with superior
admiration. R.B. Bernstein attempts to remove the Founding Fathers from their status of worship
so that the American people can meet them eye to eye and form a more sensible impression of
who they were. He spends the majority of the preface establishing the conflicting views people
have on the Founding Fathers today, and he ends the preface by stating his goal

Review Of The Oresteia
Hoque, Zohirul
Oresteia
At the point when a person is blamed for a crime they are either discovered guilty or innocent. This
is the fundamental thought of justice and it is the thing that people feel needs to happen on the off
chance that somebody has done something dubious. In the play The Oresteia by Aeschylus, the tale
of Clytemnestra guilt or innocents is addressed.
She does numerous things that individuals are not very content with and those disputable activities
all through the story; basically in the primary part Agamemnon gets her into an inconvenience. As
we investigate the body of evidence that works against her innocents by investigating the killings of
Agamemnon and Cassandra and the proud expression about the killings.
This activity causes a lot of fierceness in Clytemnestra. One could exceptionally surely know
why she would act along these lines. Clytemnestra see s the slaughtering of her little girl as
simply being murdered for her spouse s gain. She additionally feels that he could have picked an
alternate virgin to give up. One the other hands, if one takes a gander at Agamemnon s issue they
could think something else. Agamemnon was the general of his armed force and the pioneer that
his men gazed upward to. So when the benefit came to him saying I will give you wind for a
virgin sacrifice he took it as relinquishing somebody close to him. So Agamemnon picks his girl
the virgin and yielded her with decision making ability for what was best for the armed

  • 2. Essay about Cocoanut Grove Fire From the Ashes Fire protection engineering, or the application of science and engineering to protect people and their environment from fire, has been around for centuries. The problem with advancements in this field is that they are preventative and, if ahead of their time, often seen as unnecessary. As a result, they are usually not considered or implemented until after severe tragedy has struck. A prime example of this is also the first recorded use of fire protectionengineering. In AD 64, Emperor Nero had regulations drawn up that required fireproof materials used in the external walls to the city. This, of course, happened only after an estimated seventy percent of Rome was lost to fire. More noticeable regulations happened... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not many got through before the pushing lodged the door shut. Others in the main club moved toward the hinged door that opened out to Shawmut Street, and many did escape out this way. The patrons inside the Broadway Lounge, being the farthest away from the lobby, were only alerted to the fire when guests from the main club area ran in looking for an exit. The fire, having started approximately five minutes ago, was now in full force. The smoke, flames, and heat quickly caused all in the lounge to panic and the only available exit, an inward opening door that led to Broadway Street, was blocked shut within moments. (Thomas) Firefighters were on the scene seconds after the blaze started. The department already had several units on the block for an automobile fire and immediately went to work rescuing people near the entrances. Once they realized how dire the situation was, they called for more and more help. Firefighters and citizens broke the windows on the Shawmut Street side of the building in an attempt to pull as many people out as possible. The victims, suffering from smoke inhalation and burns, were transported as quickly as possible to area hospitals. When they ran out of ambulances and emergency vehicles, newspaper trucks were used. (Thomas) For over an hour, Boston City Hospital averaged a new patient every 11 seconds. Out of the first 200 to arrive, 150 had already ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Internet Predators Why we should be worried about the Deep web Unknown to most, the Deep Web actually exists and only takes a few clicks on your computer to access it, if you know what you re doing. Also unknown to most is the illegal activity and the online predators that are roaming all over the web. These predators can be financial predators or sexual predators. Throughout this essay I will be explaining three themes in chronological order. Financial predators, sexual predators, and discussing why the illegal activity on the Deep web is bad for society. Financial predators are everywhere on the web, and they might cost you a fortune. Financial predators host scams and use fake identities to get bank details to rip you off through an online purchase that you think is safe. An example of a ... An example of a sexual predator could be an online predator targeting young victims trying to get sexual related images from them by targeting young vulnerable people, unable to judge the seriousness of the situation or through blackmail. This is what happened in the case of Scottish teenager Daniel Perry earlier this year, resulting in his suicide. Sexual predators can also be connected to the Deep web by exploiting nudity or sexual content of a child or young adult on a CP website, which stands for child pornography. These can also be sold on the Deep web for an exchange of bitcoin. These are just more examples of why we should be worried and most importantly informed of how dangerous the Deep web is so we can avoid the bad situations we may come ... • 4. How Is Semiotics Used In Pleasantville I don t understand people who dream in black and white. I just don t get it. My dreams have always been vivid color. This was a statement given in an interview by Director Gary Ross after the release of his film, Pleasantville. Pleasantville, a film that basically represents anti nostalgia, takes the use of Technicolor and uses it as a metaphor for peoples desires, fears, and maturation. Pleasantville follows life of David and his rebellious sister Jennifer. One night, after arguing about what they want to watch for television, a mysterious repairman shows up and hands them a supposed magical remote. As the fight continues, the two teens accidentally zap themselves into the world of Pleasantville . Now, David and Jennifer must conform to the ultra conservative 50s lifestyle all while trying to find their way home. With implementation of color to represent the growth of characters in the Pleasantville world, the use of semiotics is noticed and recognized throughout the film. Semiotics can be described as the study of signs and symbols and their use or interpretation. This is an interesting aspect to the film because this was a subtle way for director to show growth of his characters through visual ques. whenever something breaks the mold of Pleasantville s traditional values with the use of modernity, chaos in the town begins to ensue. This is worthy to do a critical piece about because semiotics represent/initiate a change from the nostalgic 1950 s representation seen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Windows that is being spoken of is the Windows operating program on the computer in the typical office, the typical home and even and the typical classroom now. It allowed Western to offer these value added services to their customers that most of their competitors did not. Total Forms Control should have increased Western s margins and helped them to increase the loyalty and number of customers. TFC was not performing up to expectations. It had become an increasingly time consuming process and profits from TFC had been consistently declining over the past several years, projected to drop a total of 14% in only two years. 2. The current accounting system charged all customers participating in the TFC program the same standard rates regardless of the level or frequency of services provided. There ... Distributing services using activity based costing reveals that Customer A is a highly more profitable consumer to Western than Customer B, despite identical net sales (see attached). Customer A uses less storage, delivery services, has fewer requisitions and a smaller inventory balance, making them a more inexpensive customer to service, in comparison to Customer B. 5. An analysis of the individual customer accounts suggest that TFC s current pricing model is ineffective. They are undercharging an alarming number of their customers thereby reducing their overall profitability. Based on this information, managers will hopefully elect to implement the services based pricing model so that customers are charged based on the services they are actually consuming. Ideally, changing the current pricing model will resolve the issue of customers reducing profit by 140% and 60% (Exhibit 8, numbers 3 and 4). If there are still profit draining customers, management should revisit and assess accordingly, either further increasing fees to those customers so their contribution is positive, or perhaps dropping these customers to increase overall profitability. 6. I think the largest issues in adopting Service Based Pricing would be the opposition from the salespeople and the customers. In most cases, fees will increase and it s unlikely that this change will be welcomed by either party. Western may lose customers if ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The epic poem Beowulf was passed down verbally from generation to generation with enlightening Pagan teachings and elements. Things such as magic, unnatural creatures, and strange scenarios play a huge role in their faith. However, Christians believe that things such as dragons, witches, magic and the dark arts are of Satan. While the Pagans view the dragon as a fire breathing, greedy creature keeping treasure in its lair, the Christians view it as the devil making the setting of hell. The equivalent of Beowulf in the Christian faith would be Jesus Christ. He came into the world (lair) and freed us from sins (hell). Pagans view Beowulf as having superhuman powers that let him overcome any trial he may face. For example of Beowulf s strength, he lifted the giant s magical sword when nobody else could. His strength is matched by Christian faith with the story of Jesus was resurrected and came out from the tomb he was buried in. Beowulf fought for peace in the land of Geatland and Danes. Christ made peace with everyone. They both share qualities of the desire for peace. The biggest comparison between Beowulf and Jesus Christ is when they both died to save other people. According to Christian belief, Christ was crucified to save everyone from death. Beowulf was killed by the dragon in order to save someone else and to calm his soul from the loss of his village. Christ also found his true followers when he was carrying the cross and they came to help him. Doing intense physical activity will make the hormone adrenaline is released during intense physical activity. There is also very low blood levels of potassium or magnesium, major blood loss, and lack of oxygen. Also the tendency to have arrhythmias run in some families and is passed through genes. An example of this is long QT syndrome, which is a disorder of the hearts electrical activity. The problems with tiny pores on the surface of heart muscle cells cause the disorder. Some people choose to drink too much alcohol or smoke cigarettes to control their stress, but these habits can increase bloodpressure and damage arterywalls. And your body s response to stress may be a headache, back strain, or stomach pains. Stress can also strip your energy, mess up your sleep and make you feel cranky, forgetful and out of control. A stressful situation will set off a chain of events. Your body releases adrenaline, a hormone that temporarily causes your breathing and heart rate to speed up and your blood pressure to rise. When stress is constant, your body remains in high gear off and on for days or weeks at a time. Although the link between stress and heart disease isn t clear, chronic stress may cause some people to drink too much alcohol which will increase your blood pressure and damage the artery walls. These temples were therefore the places where the Egyptians spent most of their time performing rituals, sacrifices, giving offerings and performing festivals among others . All these activities served to ensure that the gods were pleased and that they would bless the lands in the long haul. The kings and pharaohs of Egyptwere also allowed to live in these temples because of their status in society. There are many temples in Egypt that are o significance importance. In BH v The Lord Advocate, Lord Hope said in his judgement that the Scotland Act can only be expressly repealed; it cannot be impliedly repealed; that is because of its fundamental constitutional nature . The notion of constitutional legislation requiring explicit repeal and not simply being repealable through the constitutional doctrine of implied repeal was first discussed in R v Thoburn. The doctrine of implied repeal means that, where two pieces of primary legislation appear to be in conflict, the more recent legislation impliedly repeals the earlier one. He explains both the benefits and downsides of cougars returning to their natural habitat. As a new driver, I am constantly worried of hitting other objects such as cars, mailboxes, and animals. • 25. Theme Of Loss In Birdsong The theme of loss is also shown through all three writers work, demonstrated through the destruction and brutality of the war. In Birdsong Stephen appears a strange and isolated figure at the beginning of the novel who brings with him concepts of unrest, as he possesses a knife with a singular scrupulously sharpened blade which suggests the idea of conflict. As well as losing Isabelle in a romantic sense, he experiences extreme loss and privation throughout his time in the war, particularly the lossof Weir and Jack Firebrace that are dealt with in graphic but simplistic language. Weir s death occurs suddenly and within one paragraph his face is said to be smashing unprotected into mud . Stephen is pained by his death and even feels he had loved him and he had made the... Her response to this is one of shock as she appeared unaware of the multitude of deaths and collapses saying My God, nobody told me . This emphasises the extent of loss from a postwar perspective, which makes it appear even more tragic. As Birdsong was written after the war, its purpose was to commemorate the losses and honour the dead, as well as educate and promote remembrance. Loss features just as graphically in Dulce et Decorum Est written by Owen during his time in Craiglockheart hospital, as it is a poem that uses Latin to mock the glory of war and demonstrate the pain and death it can cause. Also, telephoto lenses are handy at compressing perspective. This is when the background of a photo appears to be closer to the subject than what is experienced with the naked eye. This is beneficial when you cannot physically move your subject closer to the background. You can also fill the frame of your photo by getting shots from a far distance. This will bring in objects further back into the frame, filling out the edges of your shot nicely. With this lens, you can isolate far away objects much better than with a wide angle lens. Since the telephoto zoom closes the distance between you and your subject, it is ideal for capturing pictures of wildlife. The start of the flour industry was very small. However the reason the flour industry was very small was that it was just the beginning of it, and many people did not know how profitable it would be. Another reason it was so small was that many people did not know if it was going to be a waste of money, because it was very expensive to pay for everything. In order to make this a successful industry the flour industry would need many employees such as farmers, railroad workers, machinists who tended to the large machines, barrel makers, packers who caught flour after it was poured off of the assembly line. For example, the article states, Amanda Knox was interrogated repeatedly in the five days following the murder of Meredith Kercher.
