Title Due to the failure of Hershey s voluntary efforts to stop child labor from being used within
its supply chain, the U.S. government should enforce existing federal law against the
importation of products made with forced labor. Trafficked Labor and Poor Working Conditions
Hershey sources much of its cocoa from West Africa a region plagued by extreme poverty and
known for extensive use of trafficked child labor. Though the countries of Ghana and the Ivory
Coast provide 70 percent of the world s cocoa supply(2?) horrible work conditions persist in the
agriculture sector. Starting in the late 1990 s, reports of slave labor on cocoa farms began to
appear in the media. In 1998, a newspaper in Cote d Ivoire reported the widespread practice of
trafficking and indenturing Malian boys for work on Ivorian cocoa plantations. The United
States Department of State reported an initial estimate of 15,000 Malian children working on
Ivorian cocoa and coffee plantations. Many of the child workers were under the age of 12, and
were sold into indentured servitude for as little as $140. These children were made to work for
12 hour days for annual salaries between $135 to $189(4?). By itself, the fact that these children
are working under the age of 12 violates widely accepted international labor standards.(4?). Making

about stuff, it shows how he thinks of her as less than himself. He discriminates her infront of the

Human trafficking is because that s what they ve did when they kidnapped Soloman and brought
him somewhere else to sell him as a slave.
The plot is not presented in a chonological way. It starts off with him as a slave, and then it goes
back to how he actually became one.
I found to symbols that I remember most. The first one is when he breaks the violin that he s

My Experience At The Grocery Store
There was once a time in my life where everything was perfect. There were smiles, toys, good
times, friendships and playgrounds. This period of time was my early childhood when the only
time I became sick was when I fell during my joyous playtimes. However, as I grew older, the
world and my environment changed. I always tried to keep healthy by maintaining the right diet
and taking vitamins. Despite this, something terrible happened to me on December 12th, 2015.
December 12th, 2015 was just another regular day for me. I was working at my part time job at
the grocery store. I did the same routine tasks as any other day: said my prayers, had breakfast,
showered and got prepared to go to work. That morning was a beautiful morning. The sun was
shining brightly, the birds were chirping sweetly and a warm Christmas spirit was in my home. My
parents were jovial as on any other day, and they both encouraged me to have a wonderful day.
Work began at 8am. It was 7:16 am when I left home to go to work. I was energetic and excited.
