SUSAN STEVENS, FOUNDER
SO, WHO IS SUSAN STEVENS ANYWAY!
I grew up in New Zealand. I am married to a very supportive husband and have three
beautiful children. My husband and I spent over two years travelling around the world in
our early 20’s exploring different cultures and worked for a period of time in London.
I have over 20 years experience in sales, marketing and advertising. I climbed the
corporate ladder within the media industry and at the peak of my career was a General
Manager. I was very driven and committed to my corporate career but my priorities
changed when I had children and I returned to work with a completely different focus, it
was no longer about how much money I earned, it became all about achieving a work/
life balance.
PASSION MAKES ORDINARY PEOPLE DO EXTRAORDINARY THINGS
After returning from maternity leave with my second daughter I found myself
working in a suppressive culture, where I clocked in and clocked out, where I was
micromanaged and intimidated by someone who didn’t know how to inspire…
ultimately, I lost my passion.
I made a terrifying leap leaving a six figure salary in search of something more fulfilling,
something that gave me meaning and purpose. In November 2014, after 20 months of
developing my business idea, I founded a company called Meme & Co.
Meme & Co is a design-led jewellery and accessory company, but we’re more than a
fashion business…we are about women, we are about living the best life possible. We
are an opportunity to have ownership in a fashion business with a hybrid model that
incorporates selling affordable quality jewellery and accessories in-person, online and
instore. We are very fortunate to collaborate with local NZ designers as well as overseas
designers whose focus is on quality, design detail and craftmanship.

When I founded Meme & Co I didn’t want to just start a business, I wanted to create a life I
would love. One that happily combined work and family, on my own terms, and I wanted
to create an opportunity for other women too because I knew I wasn’t alone in my desire
to define and create my own success.

The name, pronounced `Me Me’ is what my son called my daughter Aimee, as an 18
month old. On a personal level Meme & Co represents my children Jessica, Aimee,
William & my husband Tim – my family are ultimately my driving force. On a business
level `Meme’ is the heart of the business and the `Co’ is the soul with all our amazing
partnerships that contribute to the success of the company.
I’m committed to ensuring Meme & Co’s success, to ensuring the company continues to
evolve and remain innovative. But more importantly I get to work on my own terms, I’m
living a life by my own design and I’ve never been happier or more content.
My mission is to inspire women with an entrepreneurial spirit, who either want to take
their own leap and pursue their dream of finding greater freedom or have already
taken the leap but are experiencing doubt and unsure of their next step. I’ve created
an opportunity to join our company but I’m also sharing my learnings, experiences and
knowledge I’ve accumulated whilst on my entrepreneurial journey, to empower and
inspire others to have the courage and confidence to fulfil their true potential.

2. WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY WITH MEME & CO?

Join our team in New Zealand or Australia on either our Platinum Business Package

4. WHAT IS THE ACTUAL OPPORTUNITY?
When you join Meme & Co you receive a selection of pieces from our Collection,
dependent on the package purchased. You also receive a customised Meme & Co
virtual storefront with your own uniqe URL to promote your business. We provide all the
necessary resources for you to run your business via three avenues; in-person, direct to
customers via Pop Up Shops
(i.e. in-home, markets, cafes etc), online via your customised Meme & Co me-store
(utilising social media to gain exposure and drive customers online) and direct to
boutique retail stores.
5. HOW MUCH DO I GET PAID?
You make 20% commission on any item you sell during a Pop Up Shop or through your
me-Store from the Meme & Co Collection. Brand Ambassadors are eligible for a 10%
commission on all sales made through any retail outlet who becomes a Meme & Co
stockist.
We pay commissions and any bonuses on the 10th of the month following. Breakdown of
commission and bonus structure is set out in Meme & Co reward documentation.
6. WHAT SUPPORT DO I RECEIVE?
• As part of your Meme & Co business, you have access to free basic training as well
as part-funded high level outsourced training with advice and strategies you can
readily apply to help you create and build a sustainable business.
• Free exclusive access to Meme & Co me-Lounge (closed Facebook group) and
online forum
• Paired up with an Accountability Partner from the Meme & Co team to help you stay
focused and on-track
• Access to an outsourced coaching team who run programmes on goal setting and
staying accountable, setting up your business, building your business, understanding
social media as well as healthy & wellness to support you in both your business and
personal life
7. HOW DO I ADD MERCHANDISE TO MY COLLECTION?
We have a merchandise builder programme available, when you generate set sales
levels in a calendar month you earn me-Money to add pieces to your Collection.
8. HOW DO I PURCHASE ADDITIONAL PIECES FOR MY COLLECTION?
You need to send your order details i.e item & payment method to head office
for processing.

9. IF AN ITEM IN THE COLLECTION IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE AS A BRAND AMBASSADOR
WHAT CAN I DO WITH IT?
Any items dis-continued in the Collection that are in your merchandise box can be either
kept or sold as an end of line/sample sale for cash, which you keep.
10. WHAT IF I WANT TO CREATE MARKETING MATERIAL TO PROMOTE MY BUSINESS
• You can use official Meme & Co images available, guidelines on use are set out in
Meme & Co policy documentation.
• You can create flyers, posters etc but you must adhere to guidelines set out in
Meme & Co policy documentation. All use of Meme & Co logo, trade name etc must be
approved and signed off by Head Office.
• Images downloaded into our image library tab in your dashboard are available to use
11. WHERE CAN I PROMOTE MY ME-STORE?
Your Meme & Co me-Store is an integral part of driving and growing your business, you
should promote it wherever you can i.e. via your social media pages, blogs, newsletters,
email, marketing and advertising material etc. Guidelines are set out in Meme & Co
policy documentation.
12. DO WE INCENTIVISE THE HOST WHO HOLDS A POP UP SHOP?
Thehostisanimportantpersonwhoweworkverycloselywithtoensureasuccessful
outcome.Wesupportthosewhosupportussowehavecreatedamulti-levelhostreward
programmethatthanksthehostforhertimeandeffort,incentivisessalesontheday
(redeemedonthedayofherPopUpShop),withfurtherincentivesforhelpingsecure
futurePopUpShops(redeemedafteradditionaleventhastakenplace).
13. HOW DO I WORK WITH BOUTIQUE RETAIL STORES?
We provide you with a wholesale list on key pieces in our Meme & Co Collection that
are available to sell to boutique retail stores. You are restricted to promoting Meme
& Co Wholesale Range to the Retail Sector. The retail outlet places an order with the
Brand Ambassador and purchases product directly with Head Office. The retail outlet
is then responsible for on-selling Meme & Co product directly to their customer. The
Brand Ambassador is responsible for sourcing new retailers and managing on-going
customer service.
14. CAN I APPROACH ANY RETAIL BOUTIQUE?
Prior to approaching a retail outlet you must have approval to contact the retail outlet
from Head Office to ensure brand synergies exist, that no other Brand Ambassador is
talking to the retail outlet and to ensure the Brand Ambassador is able to effectively
manage on-going relationships.

15. WHERE CAN I HOLD A POP UP SHOP?
Pop Up Shops can be held in the home, in the workplace, at markets and expos,
anywhere you can Pop Up.
In some instances written permission must be sought from Head Office as per the
guidelines set out in Meme & Co policy documentation.
16. DO I HAVE TO PAY TAX AND GST?
A Brand Ambassador is an independent contractor. As an independent contractor you
are in business on your own account, and not an employee or agent of
Meme & Co therefore you are responsible for ACC levies, insurance, superannuation,
tax/GST, holiday and sick leave and must be compliant with legislative requirements in
relation to the conduct of your own business. We have partnered with a Financial Coach
to provide further advice and direction.
17. WHAT EXPENSES CAN I CLAIM?
You are in business for yourself so you are allowed to claim legitimate business
expenses that are directly related to the day to day running of your business, i.e. laptop/
tablets/phones, business cards/marketing material, training courses etc
18 DO I NEED AN ACCOUNTANT?
We recommend you set your business up properly from the very start, if you are capable
of managing your finances, have an understanding of what is required and have the
time to do it then you don’t need to pay for someone else’s service. However, if you
do need advice and direction we have partnered with a Financial Coach who provides
programmes for our Brand Ambassadors
19. DOES HEAD OFFICE PROVIDE INCENTIVES TO HELP ME GET FUTURE BOOKINGS?
From time to time Head Office will provide incentives for either the Brand Ambassador
to book Pop Up Shops within a specified period to qualify or incentivise potential hosts
to book Pop Up Shops.
20. HOW DO I GET STARTED?
We have all the resources available for you to help you get off to a great start but
ultimately it comes down to you and your commitment to your business. We are here to
support you in every way we can as we want to see you succeed in building a sustainable
business.

21. HOW DO I BOOK A POP UP SHOP?
• Once you have made contact with a host and secured a time and day for the Pop Up
Shop, all the details need to be entered and recorded in your dashboard under Your
Pop Up Shops, Create a Pop Up Shop.
• Once bookings have been processed, you can view and confirm the appointment in
your dashboard, under Enquiries.
• Once confirmed an auto-responder email is sent to Head Office and also to your host
confirming the details.
• This booking is automatically uploaded to your dashboard Calendar tab so you can
keep a record of what Pop Up Shops you have booked each month.
• You’re Invited’ Pop Up Shop invites for Facebook and email as well as a `Thank You’
image in your dashboard is available to send to hosts to make the process simple and
effortless
22. CAN I SET UP MY POP UP SHOPS ONLY IN THE AREA THAT I LIVE?
Brand Ambassdors are restricted to hosting Pop Up Shops in their country but there are
no restrictions in place in terms of territory. Brand Ambassadors are allowed to make
international sales online.
23. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO DO A POP UP SHOP FROM SETTING UP TO LEAVING
THE EVENT?
We recommend arriving ½ an hour before guests arrive to set up. Keep the event very
structured with initial introductions to the Collection, demonstrating some pieces on
the host, encouraging guests to try on and then taking orders before packing up and
leaving. You should be able to run a successful Pop Up Shop within 2-21/2
hours. You also
need to invest time prior to the event training the host and following the event to thank
the host and discuss any potential opportunities with guests who attended.
24. WHAT OTHER WAYS CAN I BUILD MY BUSINESS?
Meme & Co is a unique business model, we are a business that offers three revenue
streams, giving you the choice to pursue where your passion lies; online, via Pop Up
Shops or through boutique stores. Build your Meme & Co presence online, you can
utilise content published from Head Office and images available in your image library.
Providing superior customer service will ensure you receive repeat purchases from both
customers and boutique stores.
25. HOW ELSE DOES HEAD OFFICE SUPPORT ME?
Every month Head Office sends out a newsletter to all customers of Meme & Co,
providing them an update on how the business is going, anything new that is happening
or newsworthy within the company. Where applicable, we drive customers back to the
Meme & Co Brand Ambassadors contact page for Pop Up Shops or online sales.

26. WHO ARE THE DESIGNERS THAT MEME & CO WORK WITH?
We work with MichaelJohn Jewellery, Zabbana, Veronica B & Stash Jewels, all NZ
designed jewellery and accessories is designed in NZ and handcrafted to order. The
black navigation banner at the bottom of Meme & Co website & the Brand Ambassador
dashboard has a link through to our designers with information on their designs.
27. WHO DISPATCHES THE ORDERS TO MY CUSTOMERS?
Head office sends all orders out to customers. The brand is extremely important to us as
is providing exceptional customer service, by managing packaging and dispatch we can
maintain a high level of quality control and ensure optimum turnaround.
28. HOW ARE MEME & CO PACKAGES SENT TO CUSTOMERS?
All packages beautifully wrapped are couriered directly from Head Office to the client
with track and trace and signature required.
29. IS THERE A COURIER CHARGE?
We do charge a courier fee, however any orders over NZ$199.00 qualifies for free
shipping.
30. CAN WE COURIER PACKAGES OVERSEAS?
Meme & Co website is set up to take sales from overseas countries. Courier fees vary
depending on where packages are sent. There is a link to Shipping & Delivery terms on
the Meme & Co website and in the Brand Ambassador dashboard.
31. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR CUSTOMERS TO RECEIVE THEIR ORDERS?
Depending on the item purchased, we deliver the package to our customers anywhere
between 2 and 10 days unless an item is out of stock which may take up to 6 weeks.
32. WHAT HAPPENS IF SOMETHING IS FAULTY OR BROUGHT AS A GIFT AND THEY
WANT TO RETURN?
• Customers can return unworn item in saleable condition with tags attached, in
original packaging and with original proof of purchase, within 10 days. Returns
received within 10 days are eligible for a Meme & Co credit to the total cost of the
returned item.
• In the event that Meme & Co ascertain there is a fault with an item we will happily
provide an exchange, in line with our Warranty Policy.
