This is the updated website research slide share for my A2 media studies coursework.

2. Vampire Weekend
Vampire Weekend’s
website is a
combination between
classic and
alternative. This is
because the black
and white creates a
classic look but the
floral background
does not reflect this
look. The floral
background shows
the band’s edgy side
to their music and
image that is shown
in their music videos.
Their band name is in
a big font size, making
it the first thing you
look at when you click
onto the webpage.
The links on the
front page include a
link to their Twitter
page. This enables
their fans to contact
them through social
media and feel
connected to them.
There are also links
to web pages where
their fans can buy
their songs and
albums from. There
are web links to
other pages for the
band’s website
informing their fans
about latest
releases and music
videos, lyrics for
their songs, live gigs
and the band’s
merchandise.

3. News
On each page apart from the store the background is the same flora pattern Every page is set out in
the same format wit the black box and the white text. This makes the theme consistent throughout
the whole website. On the news page there is information on the bands latest releases, music videos
and events, keeping the viewer up-to-date with what is o]going on in the bands career.

5. Live
On the live page there are no up coming live events. However, there are buttons that are links to
all the event dates for their tours, the check out so that the viewer can see what they have added
to their cart and so that they can pay for their tickets and links to pages about terms and
conditions and a hep line.

6. Contact
On this page there is all of the Vampire Weekend’s contacts. This allows people to contact them for
events, etc.

7. Tumblr
On their Tumblr page there are the photos that they have uploaded on to their Tumblr
account, which are photos of the bands albums, gigs and poster art. I the right hand corner
there are links to their Tumblr page. One allows you to follow the band on Tumblr,
connecting them to their fans.

8. Twitter
This page connects you instantly to the bands Twitter page where you can follow
them, read their tweets about what is happening in the bands life and the events
they have been doing. You can also look at the photos and videos they have
uploaded.

9. Daughter
When you click on Daughter’s website it shows you a
slide show of photographs of the band in a recording
studio. On the right hand side of the website there is
a list icon which takes you to the list of links as seen
in the screen shot below. The slide show of the
photos introduces the band to their audience.
In the top right hand corner there are different
letters. The different letters are links to Daughters
different pages and includes their pages for Twitter,
Instagram, Spotify, YouTube and Facebook. This
means that their audience can connect to them.
The different pages on the website inform
Daughter’s fans about their new releases
and recent activity. The website pages also
show the band’s music videos and videos
of their live performances. There is also a
link to their store which sells merchandise
for the band and their music.

10. News The news page has all the latest things that the band has been up to. Rather than
having pictures, it has the title of the news and what category it come under in bold,
big text to capture the viewers eyes straight away. The page links in with the theme of
the menu page, which is black background and white text making the website
consistent.

11. Store
Daughter’s merchandise consists of t-shirts, albums, bags and songs. The store also allows you to
pre-order their new album Not To Disappear. The t-shirts have artist drawings of faces and ghosts to
go with the bands music. Also, the t-shirts are all black and white, going with the classic look
showing that they are a classic band.

12. Live
The live page shows all of Daughters tour dates and their locations. Next to the date and location
there are links to the website Songkick where the tickets are available. This makes Daughters tour
tickets easily accessible to their fans. The pages still follows the theme of black and white.

13. Releases
On this page Daughter has all of the albums and each albums artwork. When you click on the album
three options come up – stream, cd/vinyl and mp3. When you click your option it allows you to
purchase the album through the way you want it. The way the album covers are set up portrays a blog
look going with the home page. This contrast against the classic black and white background. However,
the album art mainly all consist of the colours black and white.

14. Videos
This page is set out in a blog format and shows videos of the band performing live, allowing the viewer
to watch their latest live performances. It also includes their music video, advertising their songs. Even
thought the classic black and white look has been used in the text and buttons, the age has laid out to
look different, e.g. the buttons that say play are not the normal rectangle shape, they are diamonds.

15. People
This page informs the viewer of all of Daughters contacts and people. This
allows the viewers to contact the band for things such as events, etc.

16. On the top right hand corner there is a link to their YouTube page. Their YouTube page shows an image of the band
ad their latest albums cover art. The videos on the bands page consists of live performances, music videos and
trailers. In the header there are links to the bands official website and social media pages. This keeps all of their
online presence linked and easily accessible to their fans. Daughter also have a link on their website to their page
on the website Band Camp. This page shows their posters and allows fans to purchase them.

17. Social Media Daughter has pages on the three main social
networking sites – Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
They post pictures of what they have been doing,
statuses of what they have been up to and their latest
events and pictures of their latest releases and events.
This keeps their fans that follow them up to date on the
bands activities.
