Nature of PEPPOL
• Peppol (Pan-European Public Procurement
Online) – EC funded project 2008-2012.
• OpenPeppol AISBL – an association since 2012
to maintain EC project deliverables (Peppol
infrastructure).
• Though Peppol infrastructure is mainly driven by
public sectors in Europe it is relevant for both -
B2G and B2B traffic.
• Peppol infrastructure is a standards-based
interoperability infrastructure for exchanging
business documents.
• Peppol standardizes three core elements
needed for interoperability - Routing, Delivery
and Format.

• You can access Peppol Network via Access Points – OpusCapita is a Peppol certified Access Point
• With the help of Access Point You can send and receive different business documents (catalogue,
order, invoice etc.) to/from your business partners who are using Peppol network.
• Peppol drives the spontaneous on-boarding of Your suppliers and buyers
• Even though You are in the country Peppol is not widely spread, there is a sense to activate
Peppol capabilities.

14. Peppol use Case: Statoil
• After investigating different ecommerce strategies, Statoil decided to go out with Peppol; All Statoil
suppliers singled out the EHF/PEPPOL B2B solution and their own proof of concept showed that a
solution utilizing EHF/PEPPOL was easier to achieve, faster to implement, with a lower cost and efforts
for both Statoil and the suppliers.
• Statoil was on track to achieve over 1500 active suppliers in total within May 2017, 12 months after
sending letters to Norwegian suppliers demanding utilization of EHF/PEPPOL.
• Because of the standard formats and especially standard transport method (Peppol AP Network) of
Peppol, Statoil found a key observation: “compared to any other B2B solution or network there is no need
to differentiate between high and low volume on spend and transactions”.
• Current business transactions in production are Order, Order Response, Despatch Advice, Invoice, and
Credit Note
• Statoil will continue to maximize the utilization of the EHF/PEPPOL solution with more business
transaction types, more automation by consuming the information and active participation in the future
development of the EHF/PEPPOL standards
