Removing Confederate Statues
In John Daniel s article New Orleans Is Wrong To Remove Its Confederate Statues , he discusses the
recent events involving the removal of the Confederate statues in New Orleans. Daniels heavily takes
the side against removing the statues dedicated to the significant figures that fought for the
Confederate side. Daniels begins by describing a dark scene involving armed men getting ready to
steal the statues in the middle of the night. After setting the tone of suspicious characters, he starts to
explain his example of the shady characters, elaborating on the fact that in New Orleans, there
recently has been a trend of municipal leaders and activists who claimed to act in tolerance and that
four of the monuments were removed. In this, the

Masculinity In The Blind Side
The movie that I chose to write about is the 2009 movie, The Blind Side. It is a film about a young
African American male, nicknamed Big Mike who is basically homeless and struggles in school.
Michael grew up in a very bad neighborhood and was taken away from his mother at the age of 7, who
is a crackhead and is described as promiscuous with lots of kids. We see the character depiction
difference in the very scene when Leigh Anne goes to visit Michael s mother, Denise. She is dark
skinned, disheveled and her apartment or housed is a complete mess. This is the total opposite of what
Leigh Anne is, which is organized, neat and clean, well dressed and who s house is big, beautiful and
clean. We then learn that Denise doesn t even remember who his father is. Michael is in and out of
foster homes because he keeps running back to his mother although he doesn t live with her. Michael
gets into a private Christian school although his grades are bad because they are ... Show more content

We see Leigh Anne as an assertive, dominant white female over her husband and the high school
football coach. We also see it when she goes looking for Michael in the bad neighborhood and
exchanges words with one of the men there as she mentions that she always packs heat. Deviant black
masculinity that might appear threatening to the white community is then confined to real and
imaginary ghettos. (Montes de Oca pg136) At one point when a woman who investigates with the
NCAA even questions the absurd situation and although she doesn t say it, she s probably seeing it as
being saved by a white savior as well, except that her reasons are all wrong. This film reminded me a
little bit of Precious because of the poor academic skills and the feeling of being out of place socially.
The other thing that reminded me of it was because in that movie Ms. Rain and Mrs. Weiss were her
white saviors although they technically weren t

Why Societies Fall
While Great societies are well great, nothing can last forever. Many great societies that people thought
will never die have fallen to various things. Take rome, they fell because inflation of money, which
didn t allow for much spending. Or the Nazi s. That Nazi government was very corrupt and fell
because of what they did. Or even the Etruscans. They were overthrown by the very people they
governed. So Societies fall for many reasons, including corrupt leaders, money inflation, and social
revolution.
Societies fall politically because of things like corrupt government, or invasion. One example is in
Saga where the dark queen of the world doesn t care for anyone but herself, and controls the lives of
everyone. The Citizens of the world lived in poverty, because the government neglected them. As said
in the book, This world with the humans, pathetic creatures that are so easy to manipulate. (223
Kostick)
Another good example just like Saga is Nazi Germany, where Adolf Hitler ruled with an iron fist. He
strictly controlled all forms of media, and killed anyone who disagreed with him. Hitler did not care
about his citizens, he only cared about his own personal agenda. As said on Wikipedia, The Holocaust
and Germany s war in the East was based on Hitler s long standing view that the Jews were the great
enemy of the German people and that Lebensraum was needed for the expansion of Germany. He
focused on Eastern Europe for this expansion, aiming to defeat Poland and the Soviet

Hiroshima
In urban morphology, the urban environment acts a palimpsest for urban forms. On a palimpsest,
words are transcribed onto a surface, used, then erased and replaced as the palimpsest was needed to
record other information. In the same manner, urban forms are constructed in the urban environment,
then gradually torn down and replaced as society develops new needs from the urban. However,
Hiroshima is a much different urban morphological story than most cities. On August 6th, 1945, the
Little Boy atomic bomb was dropped aiming towards the t shaped Aioi Bridge near the center of the
city (Hein, et al. 88). In an instant, the urban environment of Hiroshima is erased, possibly faster than
the speed of what it would take to wipe a literal palimpsest. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Hiroshima plans to pay homage to the tragedy through the construction of a Memorial Hall for A
Bomb Victims, but it appears the city is mainly trying to rebuild in a functional capacity, as evident by
the sparsity of elite buildings within the entire blast zone. Hiroshima plans to have a running post
office, city hall, chamber of commerce and industry, hospital, and college of chamber and commerce.
The few non essential built forms they plan for are a broadcasting station, newspaper press, and
department store, but even these non essential built forms do not suggest luxury beyond a functional
level. The city also plans to reconnect the islands of its river delta city through the reparation of
bridges, most of which were ruined in the blast, yet leave much open area in places where buildings
were reduced to rubble, as if to commemorate the old city by not rebuilding heavily damaged

Roles Of Sangh Parivar
CHAPTER 2 HINDU NATIONALISTS AD THEIR LOVE FOR FASCISM
Introduction
Various organisations in India who laid their foundation resting their ideology on one nation, one
culture, one language and one religion are found to follow the footsteps of Nazi Germany. Nazi
Germany was adopted as the apt role model for the Sangh Parivar, especially the concept of anti
Semitism was embraced with more enthusiasm. Like the Jews were for Germans, Muslims are for the
Hindu fanatics of Sangh Parivar. The bodies involved in incorporating and developing such ideals
include Vishwa Hindu Parishad(VHP), the religious wing of Sangh Parivar, especially, Bajrang Dal,
political wing BJP and the umbrella organisation Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh(RSS).

Dance Of The Call Bells Essay
When admitted to a hospital patients may feel they have little control over their situation and the
surrounding environment. Using a call bell to meet their needs is perhaps one of a few things that
gives patients a feeling that they still have some control. The title of the article Dance of the Call
Bells: Using Ethnography to Evaluate Patient Satisfaction with Quality of Care, suggests that the key
phenomenon of the study was the evaluation of patients satisfaction with quality of care they received
in terms of their experience in the use of call bells (Deitrick, Bokovoy, Glenn, Panik, 2006). The title
did not describe the population, group or community under study, other than stating that the
population was patients . The title did not state that phenomenon was also looked at and analyzed
through perspectives of family members and staff, nor did it mention that the study was done on a med
surgical unit.
The abstract of the study clearly and concisely summarized the main features of the report. It stated
that the study was conducted as a qualitative, ethnographic research. Then, it briefly described the
problems associated with call bells and how these problems affected patients perceptions regarding the
quality of care. It explained that the study identified three interrelated themes regarding
communication through call bells including answering the call bell, communicating the patient s
request to the appropriate health care provider and following through with the

Chinese traditional thinking affect Jook Liang in The Jade Peony
Can you imagine that everyone rejects you just because you are a girl? That actually happened
universally in the last century, specifically in the old China. The gender discrimination was deeply
rooted in people s minds and became a traditional Chinese thinking. Wayson Choy illustrates this kind
of discrimination really well in his novel The Jade Peony. In the novel, Grandmother continually
reminds Jook Liang that girl child is useless, it affect Jook Liang thinks about people, and change the
views of various people. Also, it makes her struggle to assimilate to Chinese and Canadian society.
Though, she tries her best to revolt ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jook Liang s grandmother doesn t let her become a movie star, because Poh Poh thinks that Jook
Liang is a girl and that she is useless, she can t be a movie star, she can do nothing. Conversely, that is
just her opinion without any proof, even though Poh Poh is also a woman. This kind of gender
discrimination and ridiculous opinion makes Jook Liang hate Grandmother. Thirdly, this traditional
Chinese thinking makes her think about herself.
My heart almost burst with expectation. I looked again into the hall mirror, seeking Shirley Temple
with her dimpled smile and perfect white skin features. Bluntly reflected back at me was a helmet of
black hair. I looked down. Jutting out from a too large taffeta dress were two spindly legs matched by
pair of bony arms. Something cold clutched at my stomach, made me swallow. (Choy 41).
Jook Liang looks at the mirror and tries to think that she is Shirley Temple after Poh Poh reprimands
that she is useless and ugly. Conversely, she finds that she is not that beautiful as Shirley Temple and it
makes her feel uncomfortable. Actually, Grandmother s rebuke makes her realize her inadequacies.
Because of point of view, the traditional Chinese thinking that a girl is useless deeply affects Jook
Liang s thought about the people around her and herself.
Furthermore, the gender discrimination affects Jook Liang

Samuel Johnson Are The Guardians Of The English Language
Drawing on the discussion of Samuel Johnson s Dictionary in Reading B of Unit 2, critically evaluate
Mitchell s (2005) claim that, while grammarians were the guardians of the English language in the
seventeenth century, lexicographers assumed that role in the eighteenth century .
The rules and explanations of Grammar are different than texts and language in terms of words,
sounds, sentences, and some other elements of language too. Grammar works on combined
explanation of language and interpretations as well. The publication of Samuel Johnson got popularity
all over the world in the history of English language. He worked more than nine years to writing such

William Shakespeare, John Dryden and John Milton. And later in another edition more quotes and

Fashion At The Edge, By Gaby Wood
In Caroline Evans book, Fashion at the Edge, she looks at the fashions from all ages but goes most
deeply into the fashion of the 1990 s and the themes that were very apparent in that particular time.
She expands on these themes in chapters throughout her book such as Deathliness, Spectacle, Horror
and Glamour. She relates all these themes back to the influences of the 20th century and the rise of the
commodity obsessed culture, modernism and capitalism and the metaphorical death it brings to our
world. This essay will focus on the image of Dolly Mixture that was featured in a fashion spread in
2000 that was written by Gaby Wood, which is found in the Deathliness chapter. I will review Evans
chapter and her analysis of the themes and idea proposed by Evans herself and other theorists. I will
use these themes and ideas to make my own predictions about the effects these theories would have on
the future of our society and our fashion here in New Zealand.
Evans starts the chapter of with exploring the idea of living dolls. She explains that these living dolls
are actually human beings, mostly women that are becoming or have become objects through the
course of modeling clothes. There are several European designers who have seen this issue and have
played on this idea in the late 1990 s, such designers like Martin Margiela, Alexander McQueen and
Hussein Chalayan. They replaced real life models with dummies, as they called it, or by using the
model to resemble a dummy by

Fuel Injection Is A Mandatory Part Of The Combustion Process
Fuel injection is a mandatory part of the combustion process. The chemical energy provided by the
fuel allows the engine to transmit power for a myriad of uses in the marine industry including power
and propulsion or a combination of the both. The results of combustion include heat and exhaust
gases. These exhaust gases, in addition to cost, make fuel injection systems more important today than
ever. The International Maritime Organization s Marine Pollution Prevention annex VI has established
new regulations for nitric oxides, and sulfur oxide emissions which are the by products of fuel
combustion. Electronic fuel injection systems play a important role in the reduction of these emissions
by improving the efficiency of fuel combustion.
The main function of the fuel oil injection system is to provide the right amount of fuel at the right
time. In order for fuel injection systems to work, there must be a means of measuring the fuel supply
and a way to time the delivery and atomization of the fuel. This paper was completed in order to
examine and compare two types of electronically controlled fuel injection systems, mechanically
driven injection and electronic injection. The two types of systems we researched were the Sulzer RTA
Series and the Sulzer RT Flex.
Wartsila RTA Series The Sulzer RTA engine was a low speed, two stroke crosshead diesel engine and
have five to eight cylinders. These engines were designed for tankers and bulk carriers between

Jacob s Pillow Dance Festival Case Study
Dear: Jacob s Pillow Dance Festival
I believe that the Urban Bush Women should be a part of the Jacob s Pillow Dance Festival. It all
started with this amazing woman named Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, choreographer and dancer. She grew
up in Missouri where she fell in love with jazz music and started to imagine movement from the jazz
beats. She was able to obtain a B.A. degree in dance from the University of Missouri .
(historymakers). After her degree she earned many awards in education. When she moved to New
York City she was inspired to create her own dance company after leaving the Mclntyre s studio. This
is when she created the internationally acclaimed dance company, Urban Bush Women in 1984. The

show their values, promote dance in the community, and to allow people to express themselves. The
Urban Bush women are a very inspiring group of women. These women who take on the
responsibility to be an Urban Bush Women have a lot to uphold. As told by the creator Zollar, Urban

people to light through dance. (urbanbushwomen) This shows that the women have a lot to show and

Alexander Hamilton
Alexander Hamilton
When producing something as important as the document outlining an entire nation s culture, it is
helpful to have inventive and innovative thinkers; however, it is necessary to have leaders with
experience and knowledge. The United States needed a strong leader who stood for his beliefs and
could execute them to their full potential. When Alexander Hamilton entered Independence Hall on
May 14, 1787, that was exactly what he was willing to do for his country. He helped with the
ratification of the Constitution by writing 51 of the 85 installments of the Federalist Papers. Hamilton
continued to strive for the well being of the U.S. as Secretary of Treasury after the Philadelphia
Convention. He advocated for a strong ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hamilton knew that the government needed the ability to borrow money. (Bowen 67) He therefore
asked the Federal Government to pay back the bonds in full that they issued during the Revolutionary
war so that wealthy merchants would have the confidence to lend money in the future. Although this
was an important step in financing the government, Hamilton argued that the government still needed
a bank to manage its debts and interest payments. He is mostly known for his decision to create this
First National Bank. The bank would manage its debts and interest payments by providing a currency
and collection of taxes. The Necessary and Proper Clause of the U.S. Constitution gave congress the
permission to pass the bill in 1791, opening up the First National Bank of the U.S. The contributions
that Hamilton made during his term as Secretary of Treasury made him a very triumphant and
remembered leader of the Federalist Party.
Alexander Hamilton, leader of the Federalist Party, played a key role in building a solid foundation for
the United States. Hamilton favored a strong national government and believed that 1800 democracy
left the U.S. at risk of losing its liberty. (Brookhiser 127) In addition, Hamilton knew that
manufacturing and trade had to be the basis of national wealth and power. (Staloff 24) These are the

Limitations Of Introspection And Behaviorism
In the beginning of the chapter, some limitations and shortcomings of introspection and behaviorism
are explained and illustrated as reasons for the occurance of the cognitive revolution. During the late
nineteenth century, Wilhelm Wundt and Edward Bradford Titchener decided that the only way to study
thoughts was through introspection, or to look within oneself to study the topic of our mental lives.
The primary limitation of this method lies in its nature. When studying or researching oneself, there is
not another party to test the claims and perform the scientific method to prove or disprove findings.
Science that is performed by one individual and based on one individual is simply anecdotal and
opinionated. Additionally, there is no way to introspect on one s unconscious self, which is a huge
influence on decision making and a person s mental makeup as whole. Due to these limitations of
introspection as a research tool, many psychologists abandoned it completely on the basis that
psychology would never be a science, should it progress in this manner (Cognition, pg. 9). By the first
half of the twentieth century, behaviorist theory started to control the field of psychology. The study of
behaviors could yield testable claims due its objective data that could be recorded by observing
another human s behaviors. The stimuli that happens in the environment around people is also
objective data that could be recorded and manipulated for different tests and experiments.

Othello is depicted by the author as the hero of love as he is ready to safeguard the love of his life. On
the other hand Oroonoko is determined to give the love of his life Imoinda a better life despite the slim
possibility they had because they were both slaves. This makes him go to the extent of organizing a
slave revolt in order to ensure his family does not grow out of slavery. Despite their effort they are
betrayed by their closest allies and this is the reason that results to their downfall. Othello is betrayed
by Lago while Oroonoko is betrayed by his own military men and later captured as a slave. Another
thematic annotation of the two plays is deceit and jealousy which affects some of the characters
making them get involved in some vices which are not appropriate. Lago sacrifices the friendship and
trust that Othello had bestowed upon him due to the jealousy he had for Michael Cassio over the rank
he had been promoted to. Also in The Royal Slave, Oroonoko is betrayed by his own army as a result
of the king s order as he was jealous of him because he was loved by a woman who everybody

Multi-objective Reconfiguration of Electrical Distribution...
EDSs are mainly designed meshed but operated radially for some technical and financial concerns.
Distribution networks can be represented with a graph in ordered pairs consisting of a set of vertices,
i.e. buses and a set of edges, i.e. branches; in terms of mathematics this equivalents to a sparse matrix
which its non zero elements signifies the existence of an edge in the system. On this basis a typical
distribution network is radial if it forms a tree where each load bus is exactly supplied from one source
node, i.e. substation bus [11]. This suggests MOEDNRC problem as identifying the set of non
dominated trees of the given graph. In this section we ve devised a heuristic technique based on this
idea as well as the rules defined in [30] to retain the connectivity and radial properties of individuals
during the optimization process. It s worth mentioning that these properties are broadly disturbed by
EAs due to the stochastic nature of these algorithms unless a heuristic plan is devised to preserve the
mentioned properties. As a result generation of infeasible agents in sheer numbers by EAs is quite a
normal observation. The proposed technique is able to prevail over this shortcoming and would
increase the performance of EAs as well. Before proceeding with the designed technique, some
terminologies are first introduced to set the stage for the plan.

Becoming An Adult- Chronic Stressor
1.
School classes Daily hassle
Becoming an adult Chronic stressor
Deciding on a college Stressful event
Money Situations Chronic stressor
Family Problems Chronic stressor
2. There are many factors that could lead to the cause of a person s stress response. One includes any
life events or change to a person. Any transition that causes you to change and adjust your life style
can cause a great amount of stress, being that you cant go day to day like you may be use to. Whether
it may be a positive or negative, it tends to be stress producing. In my view i m optimistic about this
and try to see the bright side to things that may change my daily routine and think of it as it happened
for the best. Another factor that may cause a persons stress is somehow being a part of a traumatic
event. Events such as sexual assault, violence, or even unexpected loss of a loved one can stress a
person out so much that it changes the view of their life completely and can cause changes in ways
they carry themselves. It can cause symptoms such as nervousness and symptoms of anxiety which
escalate the amount of stress they experience. Daily hassles is common for everyones stress. Minor
things that seem to annoy or upset a person such as traffic on the way to work or misplacing your
shoes causes a hit of stress to go through your body. Gender usually plays a factor in what causes a
person to stress daily. Woman are more likely to stress about problems that deal with family and

(3a) From Figure 1, we can clearly see a distinct separation in the survivorship curves between males
and females of the post 1950 population at around age 51, where females show higher rates of
survivorship than males; however, this obvious sex gap does not occur in a pre 1910 comparison of
gender mortality. Instead, the pre 1910 survivor ship curves for both genders begin to oscillates near
similar survivorship values at age 31, which could be the result of environmental variation during that
time period. Nonetheless, the maximum longevity of women surpasses that of men in both
populations. (3b) Studies have shown the effects of social relations on psychological wellbeing, where
high quality relationships between individuals decrease the

We Are What We Eat Analysis
The importance of food to identity formation is certainly not unique to the immigrant experience.
Whether a part of invisible majority culture or deviant minority culture, food environments influence
our constructions of credos and categories. Generally speaking, eating preferences and behaviors are
part of familial and societal legacies. We may prepare the signature dishes of deceased relatives to
mark holidays or guard the secret ingredients of a family recipe. In other instances, particular spices
may evoke strong emotions or memories in us. Even in disordered eating behaviors, we tend to reflect
social values and constraints.145
In her culinary history of ethnicity in the United States, We Are What We Eat:

Incidentally, food is one of the habits that immigrants in the US often maintain to some degree, even
as many other cultural practices slowly decline. 147 Several factors support this phenomenon,
including food s ability to: provide the immigrants with a daily portion of home, communicate cultural
values and social economies, as well as aid in the process of economic mobility. Food literature
expresses this legacy of migration, reflecting these same beliefs and their consequences.
For this reason, the identity discourse on food and survival resembles the lived experience of early
Arab immigrants.148 Like many other immigrant populations, they formed ethnic enclaves, in which
they continued many of their previous cultural practices, including those that involved food.
As Naff chronicles in her detailed history, Becoming American: The Early Arab Immigrant
Experience, Each settlement was, in fact, a stage on which the memories of village life were
reenacted. 149 Naff goes on to describe the eating habits of these early settlements, which preserved
Syrian foodways as much as possible. She writes: Their preference

Microsoft the main competitor of Google cannot rival, google because google creates landmark
quality products and Microsoft only suppresses competition with their abundance of resources. The
text also explores how the Founders were influenced greatly by their environment and heavily
supported by their families.
The story forces the reader into the current state of Google to explain to the reader the current prowess

Summary Of Pierre Teilhard De Chardin
John Hughes
Mr. Lace
Senior Theology Honors
18 November 2011
Mr. Lace Trimester Final Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, A. North Whitehead, Monsignor Luigi Guissani,
and Charles Hartshorne have contributed significant bits of Theology as the Roman Catholic Church,
perhaps a century late, has finally come to a difficult crossroads about the creation of the world:
Should the Vatican alter (no pun intended) modify Church Dogmas, which are infallible snippets of
doctrinal teaching, or ignore rapid scientific finds that have eroded the Church s belief that God
created one man and one woman. These men, who study Theology, Physics, Theology, and
Philosophy, respectively, provide scientific basis on why the Catholic Church must adapt a Theology

Unfortunately, there is no proof for the alleged Creator. It is important, however, to acknowledge that
Science has not disproved God either. Science has further discounted the Church s teaching that Adam
and Eve existed with artifacts of animals, many of which have human characteristics, existing
thousands of years before the appearance of the human form society knows today. Science has
discovered that humans share approximately ninety seven percent of the same DNA with
chimpanzees, and that humans have one less chromosome than monkeys. Charles Darwin, a
nineteenth century English naturalist, developed a controversial peace that challenged the established
theories of how humans developed, which until his time, remained based heavily on the Christian
Churches. His Theory of Evolution, and the Roman Catholic Church s response (or lack thereof) to the
theory has brought increased criticism from liberal theologians and scientists alike about whether or
not the Church is serious about evolution and science in general. This comes as an admittedly liberal
organization, National Public Radio, released an article that detailed how At Johns Hopkins
University, research suggests that chemicals that act on the serotonin system trigger mystical
experiences that are life altering. Serotonin is a chemical messenger that helps regulate mood and
sleep. (NPR) Consequently, some scientists now claim that the evidence is scientific fact that

What Is The Theme Of Cinderella
people just think of books as a form of entertainment, but humans can actually learn from them. For
example: Grimm s version of Cinderella, published in 1812, was a favorite tale among children in
Germany. Disney s reproduction of Cinderella, published in 1950, was a popular movie among kids in
America. Italy s translation of Cinderella, published in 1885, was favored story among families in
Italy. In each version of Cinderella, Grimm, Disney, and Italy one greater theme stands out among all
others.
In the Grimm story of Cinderella , there is one vital theme: hate and contempt will get you nowhere in
life, when it is simple to be kind. Furthermore, here is some background information before the
support to this theme. The king announced a festival for his prince to meet a bride, Cinderella s step
mom says to her that she is not coming, she goes to the tree at her mother s grave and asks the dove
there for the same beautiful dress every night, she meets the prince at the ball, loses her slipper, prince
uses the slipper to find Cinderella, and she tries it on and gets engaged to the prince. In addition to the
background information, the support to the theme is when at Cinderella s wedding, her step sisters get
their eyes pecked out, of because of how mean they are to Cinderella(7). Now, this story was written
in Germany in 1812. Correspondingly, the theme was important to kids during that time in Germany
because they didn t have any type of entertainment during

Wonderful Life Themes
In the movie It s a Wonderful Life there are many economic themes that play a role in the movie.
Certain characters in this movie hold a relationship that is worth more than money and helps during
the economic crisis. Two rivalry institutions are ran in different ways and citizens are indecisive on
which one is better during the economic crisis. The townspeople are all out of money, but they saved
resources so that they can get through this horrendous time. Many people went through a lot of stress
trying to deal with this financial crisis, but it was not that easy. These four themes are prevalent
throughout the film and they explain the financial crisis itself. Relationships play a distinct role that

Potter was going to be the only who gained from his plan and Bailey quickly told everyone not to go
through with it. This was a big step for Bailey because he gained the town s trust and has many people
on his side. During this awful time everyone was in need of money, but everyone was broke. Luckily
people was able to save up and keep enough resources that will hold them until this economic crisis
was over. It was hard to obtain the money they needed, so the only way they could survive is if they
had resources like food, clothes, and housing. Houses back then were not the best but people were
able to cope with it because the living conditions were not the best. Saving resources will allow the
citizens to use their money on more important things. Lastly, the townspeople went through a lot of
stress during the financial crisis because of money and family. People were not able to support their
families because they had no money so it only led to worse problems. The town panicked because
they were not getting their money and they thought it was the end of the world. If people lived in
apartments they were not able to pay rent due to a lack of money. Citizens had to think about many
things and how to survive with the items they had left. All in all, It s a Wonderful Life shows how
people cope with the financial crisis and how it affects the townspeople. Four economics themes were

A Warmer Version Of Katonah
Ocala was a warmer version of Katonah. It was not on the water, but what it lacked in views it more
them made up for in privacy. Set on almost 10 acres this part of Florida was known as horse country.
Many people who lived in the eastern seaboard had a residence in the area because they had children
who rode and competed. In the winter activity picked up dramatically as horses were shipped south to
be in the warm climate.
He had never thought about Florida as a residence, but as the winters in New England started to
become more intense he revised that plan. He found that as he got older he really did not like the cold,
especially when it accompanied snow on an almost weekly basis.
Surprisingly he found the dual residence and climate to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His personality was such that he always had to be on alert, even if there nothing to be alert about.
His concern was getting older and lifestyle. Looking back, perhaps he could have participated in a few
more contests, the money was good and always better to have more then less.
Of course there was always the possibility of not surviving one of the contests and even at a million
dollars per game it was not worth his life.
Have you ever wondered what your life was worth, one of those silly mind games of what if that
everyone played from time to time.
When he heard that Flyod Webber a light weight boxer had just made $250 million dollars in his
recent championship fight McCoy did a What If .
Of course he could not compete on that level, but so much money, What If
McCoy had no way to know that his big what if moment would arrive sooner then he could expect.
The Mora brothers were meeting with the Saudi Minister and other influential allies. The agenda was
straightforward, everyone there had the same sense of what needed to be done.
Of course there are always certain side bar issues that people have an individual interest in achieving,
but nothing that would prevent a deal.
First item was to destroy Iranian nuclear capabilities. It was a consensus across the board that a
nuclear Iran was a destabilizing force.
As an off shoot of that agenda was for the issue of Shiite Muslims to be neutralized. Once Iran was

  • 2. Removing Confederate Statues In John Daniel s article New Orleans Is Wrong To Remove Its Confederate Statues , he discusses the recent events involving the removal of the Confederate statues in New Orleans. Daniels heavily takes the side against removing the statues dedicated to the significant figures that fought for the Confederate side. Daniels begins by describing a dark scene involving armed men getting ready to steal the statues in the middle of the night. After setting the tone of suspicious characters, he starts to explain his example of the shady characters, elaborating on the fact that in New Orleans, there recently has been a trend of municipal leaders and activists who claimed to act in tolerance and that four of the monuments were removed. It is a film about a young African American male, nicknamed Big Mike who is basically homeless and struggles in school. Michael grew up in a very bad neighborhood and was taken away from his mother at the age of 7, who is a crackhead and is described as promiscuous with lots of kids. We see the character depiction difference in the very scene when Leigh Anne goes to visit Michael s mother, Denise. She is dark skinned, disheveled and her apartment or housed is a complete mess. This is the total opposite of what Leigh Anne is, which is organized, neat and clean, well dressed and who s house is big, beautiful and clean. We then learn that Denise doesn t even remember who his father is. Michael is in and out of foster homes because he keeps running back to his mother although he doesn t live with her. We see Leigh Anne as an assertive, dominant white female over her husband and the high school football coach. We also see it when she goes looking for Michael in the bad neighborhood and exchanges words with one of the men there as she mentions that she always packs heat. Deviant black masculinity that might appear threatening to the white community is then confined to real and imaginary ghettos. (Montes de Oca pg136) At one point when a woman who investigates with the NCAA even questions the absurd situation and although she doesn t say it, she s probably seeing it as being saved by a white savior as well, except that her reasons are all wrong. This film reminded me a little bit of Precious because of the poor academic skills and the feeling of being out of place socially. • 6. Why Societies Fall While Great societies are well great, nothing can last forever. Many great societies that people thought will never die have fallen to various things. Take rome, they fell because inflation of money, which didn t allow for much spending. Or the Nazi s. That Nazi government was very corrupt and fell because of what they did. Or even the Etruscans. They were overthrown by the very people they governed. So Societies fall for many reasons, including corrupt leaders, money inflation, and social revolution. Societies fall politically because of things like corrupt government, or invasion. One example is in Saga where the dark queen of the world doesn t care for anyone but herself, and controls the lives of everyone. The Citizens of the world lived in poverty, because the government neglected them. As said in the book, This world with the humans, pathetic creatures that are so easy to manipulate. (223 Kostick) Another good example just like Saga is Nazi Germany, where Adolf Hitler ruled with an iron fist. He strictly controlled all forms of media, and killed anyone who disagreed with him. Hitler did not care about his citizens, he only cared about his own personal agenda. As said on Wikipedia, The Holocaust and Germany s war in the East was based on Hitler s long standing view that the Jews were the great enemy of the German people and that Lebensraum was needed for the expansion of Germany. He focused on Eastern Europe for this expansion, aiming to defeat Poland and the Soviet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On a palimpsest, words are transcribed onto a surface, used, then erased and replaced as the palimpsest was needed to record other information. In the same manner, urban forms are constructed in the urban environment, then gradually torn down and replaced as society develops new needs from the urban. However, Hiroshima is a much different urban morphological story than most cities. On August 6th, 1945, the Little Boy atomic bomb was dropped aiming towards the t shaped Aioi Bridge near the center of the city (Hein, et al. 88). • 9. Dance Of The Call Bells Essay When admitted to a hospital patients may feel they have little control over their situation and the surrounding environment. Using a call bell to meet their needs is perhaps one of a few things that gives patients a feeling that they still have some control. The title of the article Dance of the Call Bells: Using Ethnography to Evaluate Patient Satisfaction with Quality of Care, suggests that the key phenomenon of the study was the evaluation of patients satisfaction with quality of care they received in terms of their experience in the use of call bells (Deitrick, Bokovoy, Glenn, Panik, 2006). The title did not describe the population, group or community under study, other than stating that the population was patients . The title did not state that phenomenon was also looked at and analyzed through perspectives of family members and staff, nor did it mention that the study was done on a med surgical unit. The abstract of the study clearly and concisely summarized the main features of the report. It stated that the study was conducted as a qualitative, ethnographic research. Then, it briefly described the problems associated with call bells and how these problems affected patients perceptions regarding the quality of care. It explained that the study identified three interrelated themes regarding communication through call bells including answering the call bell, communicating the patient s request to the appropriate health care provider and following through with the ... That actually happened universally in the last century, specifically in the old China. The gender discrimination was deeply rooted in people s minds and became a traditional Chinese thinking. Wayson Choy illustrates this kind of discrimination really well in his novel The Jade Peony. Conversely, that is just her opinion without any proof, even though Poh Poh is also a woman. This kind of gender discrimination and ridiculous opinion makes Jook Liang hate Grandmother. Thirdly, this traditional Chinese thinking makes her think about herself. My heart almost burst with expectation. I looked again into the hall mirror, seeking Shirley Temple with her dimpled smile and perfect white skin features. Bluntly reflected back at me was a helmet of black hair. I looked down. Jutting out from a too large taffeta dress were two spindly legs matched by pair of bony arms. Something cold clutched at my stomach, made me swallow. (Choy 41). Jook Liang looks at the mirror and tries to think that she is Shirley Temple after Poh Poh reprimands that she is useless and ugly. Conversely, she finds that she is not that beautiful as Shirley Temple and it makes her feel uncomfortable. Actually, Grandmother s rebuke makes her realize her inadequacies. Because of point of view, the traditional Chinese thinking that a girl is useless deeply affects Jook Liang s thought about the people around her and herself. Fashion At The Edge, By Gaby Wood In Caroline Evans book, Fashion at the Edge, she looks at the fashions from all ages but goes most deeply into the fashion of the 1990 s and the themes that were very apparent in that particular time. She expands on these themes in chapters throughout her book such as Deathliness, Spectacle, Horror and Glamour. She relates all these themes back to the influences of the 20th century and the rise of the commodity obsessed culture, modernism and capitalism and the metaphorical death it brings to our world. This essay will focus on the image of Dolly Mixture that was featured in a fashion spread in 2000 that was written by Gaby Wood, which is found in the Deathliness chapter. I will review Evans chapter and her analysis of the themes and idea proposed by Evans herself and other theorists. I will use these themes and ideas to make my own predictions about the effects these theories would have on the future of our society and our fashion here in New Zealand. Evans starts the chapter of with exploring the idea of living dolls. She explains that these living dolls are actually human beings, mostly women that are becoming or have become objects through the course of modeling clothes. There are several European designers who have seen this issue and have played on this idea in the late 1990 s, such designers like Martin Margiela, Alexander McQueen and Hussein Chalayan. • 13. Fuel Injection Is A Mandatory Part Of The Combustion Process Fuel injection is a mandatory part of the combustion process. The chemical energy provided by the fuel allows the engine to transmit power for a myriad of uses in the marine industry including power and propulsion or a combination of the both. The results of combustion include heat and exhaust gases. These exhaust gases, in addition to cost, make fuel injection systems more important today than ever. The International Maritime Organization s Marine Pollution Prevention annex VI has established new regulations for nitric oxides, and sulfur oxide emissions which are the by products of fuel combustion. Electronic fuel injection systems play a important role in the reduction of these emissions by improving the efficiency of fuel combustion. The main function of the fuel oil injection system is to provide the right amount of fuel at the right time. In order for fuel injection systems to work, there must be a means of measuring the fuel supply and a way to time the delivery and atomization of the fuel. This paper was completed in order to examine and compare two types of electronically controlled fuel injection systems, mechanically driven injection and electronic injection. The two types of systems we researched were the Sulzer RTA Series and the Sulzer RT Flex. When Alexander Hamilton entered Independence Hall on May 14, 1787, that was exactly what he was willing to do for his country. Although this was an important step in financing the government, Hamilton argued that the government still needed a bank to manage its debts and interest payments. He is mostly known for his decision to create this First National Bank. The bank would manage its debts and interest payments by providing a currency and collection of taxes. The Necessary and Proper Clause of the U.S. Constitution gave congress the permission to pass the bill in 1791, opening up the First National Bank of the U.S. The contributions that Hamilton made during his term as Secretary of Treasury made him a very triumphant and remembered leader of the Federalist Party. • 16. Limitations Of Introspection And Behaviorism In the beginning of the chapter, some limitations and shortcomings of introspection and behaviorism are explained and illustrated as reasons for the occurance of the cognitive revolution. During the late nineteenth century, Wilhelm Wundt and Edward Bradford Titchener decided that the only way to study thoughts was through introspection, or to look within oneself to study the topic of our mental lives. The primary limitation of this method lies in its nature. When studying or researching oneself, there is not another party to test the claims and perform the scientific method to prove or disprove findings. Science that is performed by one individual and based on one individual is simply anecdotal and opinionated. Additionally, there is no way to introspect on one s unconscious self, which is a huge influence on decision making and a person s mental makeup as whole. Due to these limitations of introspection as a research tool, many psychologists abandoned it completely on the basis that psychology would never be a science, should it progress in this manner (Cognition, pg. 9). By the first half of the twentieth century, behaviorist theory started to control the field of psychology. The study of behaviors could yield testable claims due its objective data that could be recorded by observing another human s behaviors. The stimuli that happens in the environment around people is also objective data that could be recorded and manipulated for different tests and experiments. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On the other hand Oroonoko is determined to give the love of his life Imoinda a better life despite the slim possibility they had because they were both slaves. This makes him go to the extent of organizing a slave revolt in order to ensure his family does not grow out of slavery. Despite their effort they are betrayed by their closest allies and this is the reason that results to their downfall. Othello is betrayed by Lago while Oroonoko is betrayed by his own military men and later captured as a slave. Another thematic annotation of the two plays is deceit and jealousy which affects some of the characters making them get involved in some vices which are not appropriate. Lago sacrifices the friendship and trust that Othello had bestowed upon him due to the jealousy he had for Michael Cassio over the rank he had been promoted to. Also in The Royal Slave, Oroonoko is betrayed by his own army as a result of the king s order as he was jealous of him because he was loved by a woman who everybody considered beautiful and very ... • 19. Multi-objective Reconfiguration of Electrical Distribution... EDSs are mainly designed meshed but operated radially for some technical and financial concerns. Distribution networks can be represented with a graph in ordered pairs consisting of a set of vertices, i.e. buses and a set of edges, i.e. branches; in terms of mathematics this equivalents to a sparse matrix which its non zero elements signifies the existence of an edge in the system. On this basis a typical distribution network is radial if it forms a tree where each load bus is exactly supplied from one source node, i.e. substation bus [11]. This suggests MOEDNRC problem as identifying the set of non dominated trees of the given graph. In this section we ve devised a heuristic technique based on this idea as well as the rules defined in [30] to retain the connectivity and radial properties of individuals during the optimization process. It s worth mentioning that these properties are broadly disturbed by EAs due to the stochastic nature of these algorithms unless a heuristic plan is devised to preserve the mentioned properties. As a result generation of infeasible agents in sheer numbers by EAs is quite a normal observation. The proposed technique is able to prevail over this shortcoming and would increase the performance of EAs as well. Before proceeding with the designed technique, some terminologies are first introduced to set the stage for the plan. Survivorship Gap Gender (3a) From Figure 1, we can clearly see a distinct separation in the survivorship curves between males and females of the post 1950 population at around age 51, where females show higher rates of survivorship than males; however, this obvious sex gap does not occur in a pre 1910 comparison of gender mortality. Instead, the pre 1910 survivor ship curves for both genders begin to oscillates near similar survivorship values at age 31, which could be the result of environmental variation during that time period. Nonetheless, the maximum longevity of women surpasses that of men in both populations. • 25. We Are What We Eat Analysis The importance of food to identity formation is certainly not unique to the immigrant experience. Whether a part of invisible majority culture or deviant minority culture, food environments influence our constructions of credos and categories. Generally speaking, eating preferences and behaviors are part of familial and societal legacies. We may prepare the signature dishes of deceased relatives to mark holidays or guard the secret ingredients of a family recipe. In other instances, particular spices may evoke strong emotions or memories in us. Even in disordered eating behaviors, we tend to reflect social values and constraints.145 In her culinary history of ethnicity in the United States, We Are What We Eat: Ethnic Food and the Making ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Incidentally, food is one of the habits that immigrants in the US often maintain to some degree, even as many other cultural practices slowly decline. 147 Several factors support this phenomenon, including food s ability to: provide the immigrants with a daily portion of home, communicate cultural values and social economies, as well as aid in the process of economic mobility. Food literature expresses this legacy of migration, reflecting these same beliefs and their consequences. For this reason, the identity discourse on food and survival resembles the lived experience of early Arab immigrants.148 Like many other immigrant populations, they formed ethnic enclaves, in which they continued many of their previous cultural practices, including those that involved food. As Naff chronicles in her detailed history, Becoming American: The Early Arab Immigrant Experience, Each settlement was, in fact, a stage on which the memories of village life were reenacted. 149 Naff goes on to describe the eating habits of these early settlements, which preserved Syrian foodways as much as possible. Unfortunately, there is no proof for the alleged Creator. It is important, however, to acknowledge that Science has not disproved God either. Science has further discounted the Church s teaching that Adam and Eve existed with artifacts of animals, many of which have human characteristics, existing thousands of years before the appearance of the human form society knows today. Science has discovered that humans share approximately ninety seven percent of the same DNA with chimpanzees, and that humans have one less chromosome than monkeys. Charles Darwin, a nineteenth century English naturalist, developed a controversial peace that challenged the established theories of how humans developed, which until his time, remained based heavily on the Christian Churches. His Theory of Evolution, and the Roman Catholic Church s response (or lack thereof) to the theory has brought increased criticism from liberal theologians and scientists alike about whether or not the Church is serious about evolution and science in general. This comes as an admittedly liberal organization, National Public Radio, released an article that detailed how At Johns Hopkins University, research suggests that chemicals that act on the serotonin system trigger mystical experiences that are life altering.
