Rhetorical Analysis Of Common Sense
In the year of 1776, emotions intensify in Colonial America creating an atmosphere prime for
dissidence and a yearning for independence. The livid Americans, overtaxed and mistreated by the
British after the French and Indian War, debate and argue amongst themselves about the fate of their
fledgling colony. The American colonies interested in seeking independence from their motherland
Britain, look abroad in hopes of finding moral and political reasons to justify revolution. In the
pamphlet, Common Sense, Frenchman Thomas Paine conveys such reasons using rhetorical elements
such as figurative language, rhetorical questions, and assertions in order to enhance the morale of the
colonists and support the Americans in their revolution against Britain.
Proving that the liberties of the common people are something worth fighting for, Paine uses relatable
figurative language in order to provide a more personal connection to the colonists in hopes of
encouraging the proverbial David to stand up and wage war against Goliath. Paine pens an analogy
stating that if a child has thrived upon milk then the child will never want meat . This analogy elicits a
critical turning point in Paine s pamphlet as he transitions from asking rhetorical questions to
authoritative and comparative statements. Paine alludes to the overwhelming axiom that the colonies
have been a baby drinking milk only satisfied by meeting the needs of Britain, instead of standing up
for their individual rights and

The Trade Dispute And The European Union Industry
This trade dispute initially began on July 25th, 2012 when EU Pro Sun, a joint initiative of members
of the EU solar industry, filled a complaint to the European Commission that solar panels and various
components where being sold in the European marketplace at a value lower than market value. It was
the biggest anti dumping complaint to the European Union in history with the total value of currently
imported solar panels was around 2 billion euros. The European Commission is mandated to
investigate cases that are proven to be a valid complaint from the Union Industry. This case met the
three requirements which are: Possible price dumping by the exporting producers on the EU market,
injury suffered by the Union industry, and a possible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Early in 2012, Europe s economy was shrinking and the euro zone s economy had shrunk by .3
percent in 2011 s fourth quarter. Greece, Portugal, Ireland, Spain, and Cyprus all had defaulted on
their debts and were unable to refinance them. The European Union had to consider what would
provide the greatest benefit to all members of the Union, and how implementing anti dumping and anti
subsidy laws would make it even more expensive for solar panels in the European Union. Secondly,
China currently accounted for around 65% of the world production of solar panels. Due to this it gave
them competitive advantage and the benefit of economies of scale. Due to the ability to sell Chinese
solar panels at a lower cost in the European Union it caused around 40 EU producers to declare
insolvency, 6 EU producers to stop production (some partially), and 2 EU producers to quit solar
business between 2009 and 2012 (Memo/13/497). If something was not to quickly be done about the
dumping of Chinese solar panels thousands of jobs would be lost within the European Union and EU
producers of solar panels market share would drastically drop, considering it was already at a minimal
19% Union market share. Thirdly, the European Union had to consider overall relations with the
Chinese regarding trade in general. An aggressive retaliation by the European Commission in regards
to the dumping could burn trade

The US Economy In The 1930 s
In the 1920s America was under severe restraints that has caused division in the country socially and
culturally (Tindall et al, P.86). There was a time when law and order has no place in the American
society, people were deprived from their basic rights and no transparency was provided by the state.
The government of that time was reluctant to show any kind of progress that could help the people.
Crime rate was increasing and people were no more secure in their houses. Feudal lords and Mafias
were controlling the internal part of United States. People were forced to work as a forced labor in
factories or highway projects and they were paid less amount of money that can be hardly cover their

international trade cooperation. The inflation rate would be minimize, the prices of goods and services

How Does Boo Radley Show Courage
It smelled bad, but everyone smelled the popcorn all over the place as people were jumping up and
down with it because of the close game. It was really cold during the game. Everyone was screaming
and it would sound like someone screaming right into your ear. People could feel the sharp cold air go
down their throats as they breathed and everybody could see every player on the ice and bench. I had
to step up and take the puck all the way up through all five of the opposing skaters on the ice. I had to
do a lot of moves to get around them, but I shot the puck off the board to myself the most. After that I
had to get my shot on the net, so I made sure I was going to get the puck on the goal. I shot the puck
on the opposing goalie and bounced right off of him. I was able to get the rebound and score ... Show

Helping others shows courage by know what you help other people and that many people to try and
help all of these people. One example is from the book when Boo Radley had come out of his house
and saved Jem and Scout when they had been attacked by Bob Ewell and then Boo Radley killed Bob
Ewell with the knife he was going to use to kill the kids. This is courage because Boo never comes out
of his house and he knows that the kids have been chatting with him for a while and he was a friend to
them so he stepped up and he helped them. Another example is that lawyers are willing to stand up to
help their defendants in the courtroom. I know this because lawyers want t make sure that the innocent
people don t end up in jail because they want a fair and even casein the courtroom. The evidence
connects to the contention because it shows how people stand up for other people s beliefs even if they
might not believe in that. Also the contention connects to the thesis because it is hard to help all of
these people all the time but you need to be willing to show that you do have courage by going and

Analyzing The Demand Of The Bidders And Auction Results
Nyborg et al (2002) conduct their study by analysing the demand of the bidders and auction results in
Swedish Treasury auctions during uncertainty at the time of when the bidding occurs. They find that
bidders respond to uncertainty in three separate ways; as uncertainty increases, bidders reduce the
price levels at which they want to bid, they reduce quantity demanded and bidders also increase
bidding dispersion amongst the same bond. Nyborg et al also deem auction size to be a less important
factor than price uncertainty in how it influences the bidders behaviour even though as the auction size
increases, bidders increase their individual demands. They also suggest that cautious bidding involves
both a reduction in prices and a reduction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ahmad and Steeley (2007) further examine a type of price discovery in the bond market review the
types of markets there are, i.e. primary or secondary bond market, by specifically examining the
secondary market. Their objective is to review the secondary market pricing behaviour of U.K bond
auctions by using an event study to test the statistical significance of auctions on the secondary market
bond prices. In their event study, they use the price movement that is associated with a level change in
the zero coupon yield curve as an appropriate benchmark.
Whilst running the regressions on the cumulative average abnormal returns (they refer to them as
CAR( x, x) ) they focus on three scenarios found in earlier yield drift testing, which takes place during
6 days before the auction, on the auction day and up to 8 days after the auction (CAR( 6, 1), CAR(0,0)
and CAR(+1,+8)). They find there is a negative average return in the post auction period. They also
find the most significant variables in explaining bond prices, from their regression modelling, are the
cover and size of the auction.
There is also a positive association between the cover variable and the pre auction CAR, which means
that the greater the demand for gilts at an auction, the greater the abnormal returns. Cover and post
auction CAR are negatively associated showing that the greater the excess demand at an auction, the
smaller the

Explain How The Civil War Changed America
The Civil War changed America in huge ways that impacted everyone, even you today. The Northern
leadership and men felt freedom was entitled to everyone and fought to extinguish slavery. The
Southern leadership and soldiers fought to keep slavery and to become independent from the Union.
620,000 in the Civil War and 644,000 in all other conflicts . According to (battlefields.org) this is the
death count that was found at the end of the war versus the deaths in all other conflicts. Many lives
changed for the worst but most for the better because slavery was a thing of the past. The Civil War
redefined America by extinguishing slavery and making every man a free man and starting a road to a
united country The Civil War was a changing point for every American, North and South. Slavery
which held its prominence in the South was ruled illegal by the North after the war. All Americans
were declared free men and women. The original goal of our country, freedom for every man, was
finally fulfilled. The road to recovery for the African American population began. Even though slavery
was a distant memory it still had a effect on people. Freedom now appeared, to disappear no more
forever , Frederick Douglass said in the ¨Narrative of the life of Frederick Douglass , an American
Slave¨. The ending of slavery changed a lot for America ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Aristophanes Clouds Is A Social Commentary On The Nature...
Aristophanes Clouds is a social commentary on the nature of justice as it pertains to the philosophic
life within the city disguised as a crude theatrical comedy. The protagonist Strepsiades is overcome by
debt due to his son Pheidippides obsession with horsemanship, and Strepsiades seeks the help of local
philosopher Socrates in order to learn the art of deceptive speaking so that he may trick his creditors
and not give anyone back even an obol of those debts (120). Although the play is filled with vulgar
humor on the surface, Aristophanes uses the dialogue to examine the dangers of the philosophical life
and its effect on the city. Through the story of Strepsiades, Aristophanes leads his audience to the
conclusion that the philosophic life and those who partake in it are a danger to the city because of their
blatant disregard for the gods and the traditional customs of Athens.
At the opening of the play, Strepsiades begins with an invocation to Zeus the King! (2). Upon arrival
to Socrates Thinkery, Strepsiades begs Socrates to teach him how to win both just and unjust causes
by speaking in order to have his debts forgiven without having to pay them back (98), and swears by
the gods that he will pay Socrates (246). However, Socrates informs Strepsiades that Zeus does not
even exist , nor do any other gods (367). Before this, Strepsiades had acknowledged his fear of Zeus
punishment and the thunderbolt that made him fear and tremble , but Strepsiades no

Smell versus Taste with Food
Taste and smell are something we use every day. From the moment we wake up,we are smelling
things all around us. We taste food every single time it enters our mouth. But, do we really know how
each of them work?
Every time we put something in our mouths we are able to taste it. Taste is one of the five senses:
touch, smell, hear, vision, and taste. Small structures, papillae, found on the surface of the tongue,
upper esophagus, and epiglottis are responsible for taste. We have over 10,000 taste buds or papillae.
They were first discovered by Georg Meissner(1829 1905) and Rudolf Wagner(1805 1864).The
process of tasting is called gustation. Chemical substances in solutions stimulate the cells and they
send nerve impulses to the brain, we detect this as taste. The word taste is derived from a Latin word,
taxare, meaning to feel , to touch of to judge.
When an individual puts a substance in their mouth, five distinct tastes can be detected. These five
distinct sensations or qualities are sweet, salty, sour, bitter, and umami. When any of these tastes touch
the tongue, the receptors send signals to the brain on what to interpret. Each taste has a different
chemical reaction. For example, when saliva breaks down sodium ions (Na+) or acids, your tongue
detects it as salty or sour(Light,2009). The chemical break down for a sweet taste is hard to specify
because many chemical elements are involved.
Taste buds are located all around the tongue, the cheeks, and the

The Value Of Loan Payment Essay
Annuity Due an annuity due in which all the cash flow occurs at the beginning of each period ( Titman
et al, 2014,p. 167). Annuity dues are payment such as apartment rent payment at the beginning of the
period. The outstanding of the loan information is helpful beyond the professional front. The
outstanding interest rate can be calculated by using the same formula as a present value with a slight
variation. The present outstanding value of the loan = PMT [1 1/ (1+ annual rate of interest/m)
^number of years *m / annual rate of interest/m]. Here, m is a number of times compounding occurred
in the year. Note The book Financial management suggests the balance amount of loan one owes must
be equal to the present value of the remaining loan payment (Titman et all, 2014). The information
regarding the calculation of loan and outstanding loan gave us a fair idea about how the loan financing
occur. Another important aspect learned is how the principle and interest affect the amount of any
loan. This knowledge also brought other factors into consideration such as refinancing mortgage loan
cost. The refinancing cost involves distinct hidden costs such as appraisal fee, legal fee, origination
fee, and application. Hence, if one plan to refinance the loan by getting attracted to lower interest rate.
The refinance must put some extra money aside to pay the refinancing cost.
Future Value of Annuity payment due PMT [(1+ i) ^n 1 / i] (1+ i).

Role of Minorities in the Canadian Armed Forces
With the belief that they were superior in patriotism, many people alienated minorities during World
War II. In terms of the military ranking and task, many minorities were restricted. Many Chinese
Canadians were not accepted into the air force or navy. The Japanese Canadians were considered
enemies and were subjected to many hate crimes during the given time. They were also often turned
down when applying for a position in the Canadian armed forces, and deemed unfit. This was highly
based on a perspective of generalization and prejudice. Additionally, racism played a part in the ...

This policy was abolished later on in the war. Additionally the government, as well as the military
made it very difficult for racial minorities to ascend the ranks in the army. A lesser portion of the
Chinese immigrants did not want to join the armed forces because they believed they had been treated
unfairly. When World War II started, the head tax on Chinese immigrants had not yet been abolished.
The Chinese people were discriminated against and were forced to pay to immigrate to Canada
because of their ethnicity. It can be argued that this policy s purpose was to discourage Chinese people
from settling in Canada. The British Columbian and Saskatchewan government both disagreed with
idea of enlisting Chinese Canadians in the army. They thought that after war, the Chinese Canadians
would demand the right to vote. Although many Chinese Canadians, were opposed to fighting for
Canada because of the discrimination that they faced (head tax), many youth still enlisted because
they wanted to show their loyalty to their country. After Japan entered the war, the british began
accepting Chinese Canadians to fight. They fought behind Japanese lines in China, Sarawak, Malaya.
Although approximately 600 Chinese Canadians had served by the end of World War II, the
contributions of many of these men went unnoticed. One such man was George Chow, who was
accepted into the armed forces in 1940

The first half of the nineteenth century in the United States of America was a time of tremendous
change for the nation. Firstly, change began as Thomas Jefferson was elected president, which meant
the beginning of the Democratic Republicans reign in office. But this development of the modern
United States led not to a unified nation, yet it led to one divided. The expansion and development of
ideas and land exposed great regional differences in the United States between 1800 and 1848.
Jefferson s Louisiana Purchase had not only provided the country with land to farm, but it had doubled
the size of the United States. Decisions over what to do with the new land separated the country. This

In that place, where they tore the nightshade and blackberry patches from their roots to make room for

novel Sula with these powerful words, describing more than a physical place, but a spiritual place
where a community once stood. She begins with the destruction of the community, ultimately
beginning at the end because her novel traces the history of this community. In Song of Solomon.
Morrison takes the opposite path. She traces the history of self that ultimately ends in a type of
destruction when Milkman leaps off the cliff. In both novels, however, she explores the ... Show more

Analysis Of The Tomb Painting Queen Nefertari And Isis
Analysis of the tomb painting Queen Nefertari and Isis, by an unknown artist.
Pigment painting on tomb walls.
Queen and Goddess
In this formal analysis, the subject is the wall painting Queen Nefertari and Isis, located in Nefertaris
tomb. The painting shows the ancient Egyptian Goddess Isis leading the Queen by the hand. Nefertari
lived around 1300 1255 BC and was the first and exclusively claimed wife of the Egyptian pharaoh
Ramses II.
When analyzing the artwork one can see the influence of what we now understand to be art form,
through the numerous art elements the painting of Queen Nefertari and Isis has. Starting with lines,
the artist uses many types of both regular and irregular, to create the hieroglyphics and the shape of
the women along with what they wear. The ancient Egyptians liked to have things in order and
consistent. We see the proof for this behind their canon of proportions method. In order to make
complex figures easier to depict, the traditional style and trademark of ancient Egyptian artworks
show everything drawn or carved to be two dimensional in shape. However, they also wanted to show
the aspects they valued the most as a society. As stated in the film How Art Made The World, in the
case of the human body ancient Egyptian chose to show each body part from its clearest angel; and as
a result of a keeping the figures 2 D, the chest is shown straight on, the face is shown in profile but the

yet that s exactly what will take place on Saturday, September 26, 2015 when Mack Coulter of Coulter

Arrowhill, also know as the Watkins Witt House, was built in 1857 by Congressman Albert G.

Impulse Buying Behavior And Marketing Decision Making
Impulse Buying Behavior
It plays a very important role and position in marketing decision making. It can be explained as a
tendency of making unreflective , spontaneous, immediate, kinetic, unplanned and sudden purchases.
Impulse buying has got two parts cognitive and affective where cognitive is related with planning and
latter one with situational factors leading to an impulse purchase. It provides hedonic reinforcement
and reduces overload of selection. It is revealed that cognitive component of impulse buying is
negatively related with subjective wellbeing, whereas affective component is associated to negative
affect and customer susceptibility to interpersonal influence. It was concluded by exploring relation of
impulse buying with individual traits.
Earlier researches, however, also prove empirically that impulse purchase behavior is not merely
function of personal traits, or impulse buying tendency, rather it the type of product which also has
significant impact on this phenomenon. Gender difference in impulse buying and impulse buying
tendency, during purchase of various product categories; have also been found significant in earlier
researches. Product Involvement Product involvement means the general level of.interest in the.object,
or the centrality of the object.to the person s ego structure (Day, 1970, p. 45) . In simple words, it
refers to the attributes or characteristics linked to a certain product relative to customer like its

The 10 Essential Public Health Services
The 10 essential public health services are distributed under the three core functions of assurance,
assessment, and policy development. Every community and public health organization should
undertake activities that represent the 10 essential public health services. The American Heart
Association is a nonprofit agency that embodies some of the essential public health services.
Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, the AHA has many local offices that serve various communities
across the country. It is important for the AHA to be involved in building healthier communities
because heart disease and stroke are the number 1 and number 5, respectively, leading causes of death
in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (2015). The
AHA was founded in 1924 by six cardiologists and is the nation s oldest and largest organization
dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke. The AHA provides CPR education training, science
based treatment guidelines to healthcare professionals, and education to lawmakers, policymakers, and
the public to advocate for change that will improve the health of the community (American Heart
Association, 2015).
The mission and vision of the American Heart Association

What Does Darkness Symbolize In The Fall Of The House Of...
The Fall Of The House Of Usher is a suspense, novel written by the famous dark romantic Edgar
Allen Poe . Poe is a master at making the creepy, even more horrifying by using specific tone. His
tone is is the idea of prevailing darkness and pure gloom. Just about everything in this story is draped
in darkness to add to his sinister plot. And at no point is there a happy feeling, the plot just keeps
dragging the character into a deeper pit of despair. Showing us how there is evil in every one even
between siblings. Darkness is used a little less than the idea of gloom in this short story but its just as
important. This story wouldnt be as sinister if darkness itself wasn t involved. The whole of a dull,
dark and soundless day in the autumn of the year, when the clouds hung oppressively low in the
heavens, . . . . (1 2). This was a quote from the very beginning of the story, that can put in perspective
how dark and ieiri this story was going to be. While the objects around me while the carvings of the
ceilings, the sombre tapestries of the walls, the ebon blackness of the floors, . . . . (104 106). He is

He uses gloom and other synonyms in his story to outline for the reader just how much despair is in
the air when the main character visits his friend. I know not how it was but, with the first glimpse of
the building, a sense of insufferable gloom pervaded my spirit (5 7). This quote also, like my first
quote, was from the beginning of the story, practically out lining on how the rest of the story is going
to be. The fear of this dismay is clearly pointed out as well. You must not you shall not behold this!,
said i, shuddering, to usher, as i led him, with a gentle violence, from the window to a seat ( 466 467) .
His fear is clearly evident and this is all thanks to the gloom the Poe has provided, without you would

How Is Napoleon Bonaparte A Hero
Napoleon Bonaparte was the French leader in the late 1700s. He is known as an intelligent and clever
military leader. He went to military school at the age of nine, and finished school at the age of 16
eventually becoming a lieutenant in the artillery. Napoleon Bonaparte had many successes and
failures, however his failures overpowered his successes which makes him a tyrant. While leading he
went into many wars and lost many soldiers. By the end many people were not on his side and many
did not believe in what he was doing as the leader of France, therefore making him a villain for
France. Napoleon Bonaparte had many weaknesses as a leader which caused him to have many
defeats. The Directory selected Napoleon to lead the French army in 1796 and this is what got him
started leading France and the people. To defend French trade Napoleon took his army to Europe and
the British army trapped Napoleon and his army. Napoleon manipulated the people by keeping what
had happened out of the news so that he could be known as a great hero to the French people. If he did
not cover up that he was defeated and was trapped the French people might have realized that he
failed at his duty and was not the best for leader for the army. ... Show more content on

Acme Manufacturing is a growing company that is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. Recently the
company has acquired a manufacturing plant in China and multiple offices in the United States. Acme
is now in need of a WAN solution to connect their many offices. All new equipment will be used to
build the LANs at the offices. Then the LANs will be connected to the WAN to allow for easier
communication and data transfer between the offices.
The headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia will be home to corporate operations, marketing department,
administrative staff, and the accounting department. This branch of the company needs a strong

The branch offices will use a VPN to connect to the China plant s LAN, and the China plant can use a
VPN to connect if the satellite connection is lost. All sites being interconnected will allow for easier
communications at the weekly meeting with video conferencing (Regan, 2004).
The telecommunication system that is recommended for Acme Manufacturing is VoIP. VoIP would
provide many benefits such as enhanced productivity, decreased cost for the wiring setup, and lower
maintenance costs. With VoIP system the same cables used for the network can also be used for the
telecommunication system, lowering installation costs. VoIP would allow video conferencing and
enhance communication during the weekly meetings (Regan, 2004).
A class B network can be used for this company using IP addresses in the range 128.1.0.1 to
191.255.255.254. Subnets and a VLAN will be used to logically group the different departments. This
will allow all the sales departments to communicate as if they were in the same location. Although
departments are not physically grouped together, grouping them into logical networks would provide
increased performance. A VPN allows for a connection through a private tunnel on a public network,
typically the Internet. This allows for communication on the WAN as long as Internet access in
available (Regan, 2004).

Fashion In Modern Society
Fashion is very important. It is life enhancing and, like everything that gives pleasure, it is worth
doing well. Vivienne Westwood. Fashion is not only a materialistic aspect in society but a voice a
voice which project identity, whether it is expensive or not. Extant fashion has enticed us as
consumers to reveal a quality about ourselves. In a world where fashion can be placed into a hierarchy.
Contemporary fashion reflects labels morphed into a designer s aesthetic, but with a more attainable
price point. The development of modern society has become a ground breaking system, freely
expressed by all demographics, whether it s a child or someone in there 80 s. Coco is the six year old
Japanese instagram star, who emphasizes fashion as a culture. Her street style places her as an outlier
in between other six year olds. Coco has mirrored her voice through the way she dresses whilst not
wanting to be ordinary achieving this through contemporary fashion.
The revelation of fashion has constructed a religion, where people express interest and beliefs.
Growing up having seen fashion form the outside world to museums to the village sin Cyprus. I have
recognized the way fashion is expressed so different yet so
similar, universally and how it portrays individuals separately. When it comes to mannequins or body
s dressing the human body, history has played a huge role in the development of fashion and the way
we have constructed ideologies and designs within fashion today.

The Lesson By Toni Cade Bambara Summary
Toni Cade Bambara has quite a unique style of writing. She does not have the typical proper style as
other authors do, which shows drastically in her short story The Lesson. Bambara was born in New
York and grew up in Harlem which explains her high influence of writing about African American
lifestyles. In The Lesson she writes about a poverty stricken African family who meet a rich woman
that moves into their neighborhood to teach the children. Bambara s unique voice comes to life in this
short story when she uses informal words and phrases, has a relaxed and informal tone, and
incorporates irony into her story. Using all of these components make for an outstanding story and
makes it more realistic and somewhat more relatable. Unlike many authors, Bambara gets into the ...

Religion Is A Spiritual Way Of Life
Religion is a spiritual way of life that tells you how to act in this life and ultimately affects life after
death. It is something that is completely faith based because there is no way to prove whether or not it
is real. It doesn t matter what religion you choose to follow; it is imperative to have an understanding
of other religions of the world. The knowledge of other religions gives you the understanding needed
to not be afraid of the unknown. A great example of this is after 9 11, our country was full of fear.
Anyone who looked like they were Muslim was a target of this fear. Most people were not educated
about the Islamic religion but if they had been they would have known that it did not condone
violence. It was an extremely radical group who did not represent the Muslims as a whole.
The knowledge of other religions is beneficial in your everyday interactions with people or when you
are traveling. I grew up all around the world and one thing I did learn was that when you are in a
foreign country, they appreciate when you try to learn and do their customs in their homes. While I did
not grow up in India, I did spend three years in a small borrow outside of London, England where I
met many Hindus. I was only eight years old when I met Pia. We became best friends quickly but it
was going to her house to play that I learned her family was different from mine. I had to take off my

Summary Of Congestive Heart Failure
Introduction
Over the years there has been some controversy on defining congestive heart failure due to a vast
variability of the clinical signs and symptoms (Coronel, 2001). The American Heart Association
defines it as a complex clinical syndrome that can result from any structural or functional cardiac
disorder that impairs the ability of the ventricle to fill or eject blood (Veronique, 2013). In this case
report will critically analyse the general information of the giving condition in relation to the patient s
case.
Discussion
Epidemiology of Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) can be subjective due to the different representation
of the meaning of heart failure, as well as the prevalence and incidence of heart failure. In the
Framingham Heart Study (1965) the lifetime risk of developing CHF is one in five. ... Show more

Chlorpromache Research Paper
This week I learnt about chlorpromazine, which is an antipsychotic. It is also used in short term
management of anxiety, agitation or disturbed behaviour in non psychotic disorders. Chlorpromazine
is an antagonist of many receptors, which include α1 adrenoceptor, M3 muscarinic receptor, H1
Histamine receptor, 5HT2 receptor, dopamine D2 receptor and angiotensin II AT1 receptor. This
illustrates one of the pharmacology principles, which is selectivity of a drug. A highly selective drug (
clean drug ) binds to only one receptor or molecular target whereas a drug having low selectivity (
dirty drug ) will bind to many targets in the body. Binding upon many receptors can produce many
effects but some effects are not desired. For example, chlorpromazine ... Show more content on

Morphine mimics endogenous opioids and activates opioid receptors in the central and peripheral
nervous systems. Opioid receptors are G protein coupled receptors which are coupled to Gi protein.
Upon binding of morphine to opioid receptors, it triggers the inhibition of adenylate cyclase enzyme
and ultimately stops the firing of impulses for nociceptive information. After repeated activation of
opioid receptors by morphine, some receptors can be desensitised and binding of morphine to these
receptors can no longer stops the neurotransmission. As a consequence, tolerance to morphine
develops. When a drug is used repeatedly over time, tolerance can develop as the body adapts to the
presence of the drug in the body. Therefore, a higher dose is required to achieve the same desired
effect. For example, for morphine, if tolerance develops, a higher dose is needed in order to attain the
same analgesic effect. Moreover, one of the adverse effects of morphine when it is used for long term
to relieve pain is physical dependence. Dependence develops as a result of tolerance, leading to a
resetting of homeostatic mechanisms that require the continued presence of drug for normal function.
Therefore, if chronic treatment is stopped suddenly or an antagonist is given, withdrawal symptoms
such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, sweating, anxiety can

Summary Of Rules Of The Game By Amy Tan
Imagine being one of the best. Standing on a podium holding a trophy, yet coming home to parents
who are disappointed because you stood 3rd place on that podium. This is how Waverley feels in the
short story Rules of the Game by Amy Tan. Waverly lives with her mother, father, and two older
brothers in an apartment in Chinatown, San Francisco. Waverly loves to run around in the bustling
streets of her neighborhood smelling red beans and pastries being cooked nearby. One Christmas, the
Jong family went to their nearby church for a Christmas party, and Waverly s brother got a chess set.
This chess set sprouted a new hobby for Waverly, and soon after she played chess every day. Waverly
became a chess star, with a mother who wanted nothing less than her daughter to be number one.
Extreme tension built up from Mrs. Jong pressure, eventually leading the mother and daughter into a
fight that could ruin their relationship. The way Mrs. Jong reacted to Waverly s talent is especially
significant in Waverly s development. Sometimes when parents support their children too much it can
stress them out, and parents can often forget that children are children and you must let them relax.
Throughout Rules of the game , Mrs. Jong supports Waverly so much that Waverly feels as if she can t
mess up, for it would disappoint her mother. This leads to Waverly feeling a lot of pressure and stress.
Near the end of the story, before the fight, Waverly mentions a time she was trying to practice

can buy pack of them for much lower price than a Hi98103 hanna, which cost lot more money to buy
one of them compared to litmus paper. Another advantage is that it is very easy to use and this means
that you do not need a training for you to use it and because it is less complicated means that anyone
can use it without struggle.Whereas, with hi98103 the person need to ensure that they know how to
use this properly , if not there is chance of getting the wrong result. This means people that are trained
could only use them correctly and this limits people who could use whereas, litmus paper anyone can
carry out the test using them. Another advantage is that they do not require a battery and this means
that you do not need to buy a battery to make it work and you do not need to worry about battery
running out or replace the battery after it s used.Whereas , with hi98103 you need battery and this
means that you need to ensure that it is working before using and if it is not working then you need to
replace the battery too. Also if the battery run out during the test meant that you have to repeat the test
again to ensure the result is correct and this will take up time to do.Whereas, you do not have to worry

What Are Gender Roles In American Culture

Cultural Influence on Gender Role
Ever since I was little, all I have ever dreamt about was becoming a successful doctor and living in a
beautiful modern home with my husband and many children. You could say that I m aspiring for my
version of the American dream. My parents, who I look up to, portray a glimpse of this future that I
hope to achieve. Since I grew up in a Nigerian Muslim household, with conservative parents, my sister
and I were raised to uphold certain beliefs regarding gender roles. In a traditional African culture, it s
customary for women to be raised as housewives as men are believed to be the breadwinners of the
household. From a very young age, I was taught to cook, clean and care for my future family. As extra
motivation my parents would often tell me how shameful it would be to fail as a housewife and unable
to marry as a result. Just getting married, does not cut it, women are also expected to birth a child for
their husbands (notice the FOR) otherwise, they are looked down upon. My parents always made sure
to tell my sister and me, that for us to obtain a happy marriage, we should look for an African Muslim

exemplify characteristics resembling my father. Because of this, I rarely give men who do not display

Antonio feels so much pressure from both the sides that it gets reflected in his dream, where again the
conflict between his father and mother reaches an incensed state, with Antonio being facilitated to
adopt their respective sides. His internal conflict gets managed in a positive direction, when Ultima
makes the entry and tries to solve his predicament, by suggesting him to combine best of both his
parents culture as well as their wishes.
The second cultural plus religious conflict happens when Antonio tussles mentally to believe and
accept Catholic God. This is an extension of the above conflict, because Antonio gets torn between his
mother influenced Catholicism based Spanish culture and his father s indigenous roots. However, after
learning about the Golden Carp story and from his experiences, Antonio questions the existence of
Catholic god. He further doubts god s presence, as many evil things are going on under his watch,
without any stopping. Towards the end, with the guidance of Ultima, Antonio comes to the
understanding that one can form their own religion based on their beliefs from various religious
sources.
The third language conflict makes the appearance when Antonio goes to school, where English is the
medium of instruction. With Antonio being raised in the hotbed of indigenous cultures, where he was
taught only Spanish, he struggles to grasp and learn English. He finds the behaviour of the children in
his classroom quite alien to

Construct Validity
Construct validity is the extent to which a test measures a theoretical construct (Dyce, n.d.); that is,
can the 4degreez.com Personality Disorder Test measure the presence of the different behaviours
described by the diagnostic criteria for the different personality disorders? There are two subcategories
of construct validity: convergent validity and discriminant validity. In the case of a personality
disorder test convergent validity is the degree to which the test that should be theoretically related to a
behaviour associated with a given personality disorder is in fact related. This form of validity is an
example in which results should be taken in a person s context or in conjunction with results of other
forms of testing. For example, Q11 of the 4degreez.com Personality Disorder Test (n.d.) Do you have
a difficult time relating to others? (p. 1). If a person s contacts are of at a lower education level their
language or ideas may or may not be understood. For discriminant validity it is the degree to which
the test that should not be theoretically related to a behaviour associated with a given personality
disorder is in fact not related. No information was available to know how the 4degreez.com
Personality Disorder Test faired on testing for construct validity. Howard (1994) claims that the

Although my journey within the Clinical Mental Health program at the University of Scranton has

As I tie up loose ends by handing in time sheets and remaining assignments, I find myself in a
reflective peaceful space. As I look back over the years that I have spent within the program perfecting
my craft, I can t help but think that I am truly blessed. It is one thing to choose a career, but it is
another to answer a calling. I say with great conviction, that I am blessed to be called to such a
meaningful purpose. It is only by the grace of God that I can look back and see the person that I have
matured into, not only personally but professionally. I remain humble and grateful for the opportunity,
not only to reflect but, to have made it through this part of my journey. I started this program excited,

the years, I have embraced challenges and endured self doubt and it is through my internship that I
have felt growth in solidifying my self confidence. With this developed confidence I prepare to

Kantianism By Immanuel Kant
Kantianism
Immanuel Kant was interested in the meaning of a good life, mostly doing the right thing. He was a
deontologist rather than a consequentialist, meaning that he emphasised intent rather than outcome. He
claimed that the materially best life is not the morally best life and that a morally best life is favoured
to a materially best life. Kant started his own philosophy known as Kantianism.
Even though we consider power, wealth, honour, health, and so on to be good, Kant argues that these
things are not unqualifiedly good as they can be abused. In order to comprehend the meaning of a
good life, it is essential to look for the most basic standard of unqualified good. Kant says that no
matter how hard one might try to guarantee the outcome of their actions, one may never know it;
consequently outcome is not a good contender for unqualified good. He further claims that one must
always be judged on intention rather than outcome or motivation. Therefore his argument is that only
a good will can be unqualifiedly good.
Hume reasons that all practical reasoning is hypothetical, since eventually it is determined by the
desires of the doer. He also says that moral reasoning can only be practical. Kant disagrees with this
and argues that if we think of the conclusions of practical reason as ... Show more content on

  • 2. Rhetorical Analysis Of Common Sense In the year of 1776, emotions intensify in Colonial America creating an atmosphere prime for dissidence and a yearning for independence. The livid Americans, overtaxed and mistreated by the British after the French and Indian War, debate and argue amongst themselves about the fate of their fledgling colony. The American colonies interested in seeking independence from their motherland Britain, look abroad in hopes of finding moral and political reasons to justify revolution. In the pamphlet, Common Sense, Frenchman Thomas Paine conveys such reasons using rhetorical elements such as figurative language, rhetorical questions, and assertions in order to enhance the morale of the colonists and support the Americans in their revolution against Britain. Proving that the liberties of the common people are something worth fighting for, Paine uses relatable figurative language in order to provide a more personal connection to the colonists in hopes of encouraging the proverbial David to stand up and wage war against Goliath. Paine pens an analogy stating that if a child has thrived upon milk then the child will never want meat . This analogy elicits a critical turning point in Paine s pamphlet as he transitions from asking rhetorical questions to authoritative and comparative statements. Paine alludes to the overwhelming axiom that the colonies have been a baby drinking milk only satisfied by meeting the needs of Britain, instead of standing up for their individual rights and ... • 3. The Trade Dispute And The European Union Industry This trade dispute initially began on July 25th, 2012 when EU Pro Sun, a joint initiative of members of the EU solar industry, filled a complaint to the European Commission that solar panels and various components where being sold in the European marketplace at a value lower than market value. It was the biggest anti dumping complaint to the European Union in history with the total value of currently imported solar panels was around 2 billion euros. The European Commission is mandated to investigate cases that are proven to be a valid complaint from the Union Industry. This case met the three requirements which are: Possible price dumping by the exporting producers on the EU market, injury suffered by the Union industry, and a possible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Early in 2012, Europe s economy was shrinking and the euro zone s economy had shrunk by .3 percent in 2011 s fourth quarter. Greece, Portugal, Ireland, Spain, and Cyprus all had defaulted on their debts and were unable to refinance them. The European Union had to consider what would provide the greatest benefit to all members of the Union, and how implementing anti dumping and anti subsidy laws would make it even more expensive for solar panels in the European Union. Secondly, China currently accounted for around 65% of the world production of solar panels. Due to this it gave them competitive advantage and the benefit of economies of scale. Due to the ability to sell Chinese solar panels at a lower cost in the European Union it caused around 40 EU producers to declare insolvency, 6 EU producers to stop production (some partially), and 2 EU producers to quit solar business between 2009 and 2012 (Memo/13/497). If something was not to quickly be done about the dumping of Chinese solar panels thousands of jobs would be lost within the European Union and EU producers of solar panels market share would drastically drop, considering it was already at a minimal 19% Union market share. Thirdly, the European Union had to consider overall relations with the Chinese regarding trade in general. An aggressive retaliation by the European Commission in regards to the dumping could burn trade ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was really cold during the game. Everyone was screaming and it would sound like someone screaming right into your ear. People could feel the sharp cold air go down their throats as they breathed and everybody could see every player on the ice and bench. I had to step up and take the puck all the way up through all five of the opposing skaters on the ice. I had to do a lot of moves to get around them, but I shot the puck off the board to myself the most. After that I had to get my shot on the net, so I made sure I was going to get the puck on the goal. I shot the puck on the opposing goalie and bounced right off of him. Helping others shows courage by know what you help other people and that many people to try and help all of these people. One example is from the book when Boo Radley had come out of his house and saved Jem and Scout when they had been attacked by Bob Ewell and then Boo Radley killed Bob Ewell with the knife he was going to use to kill the kids. This is courage because Boo never comes out of his house and he knows that the kids have been chatting with him for a while and he was a friend to them so he stepped up and he helped them. Another example is that lawyers are willing to stand up to help their defendants in the courtroom. I know this because lawyers want t make sure that the innocent people don t end up in jail because they want a fair and even casein the courtroom. The evidence connects to the contention because it shows how people stand up for other people s beliefs even if they might not believe in that. Also the contention connects to the thesis because it is hard to help all of these people all the time but you need to be willing to show that you do have courage by going and helping ... • 7. Analyzing The Demand Of The Bidders And Auction Results Nyborg et al (2002) conduct their study by analysing the demand of the bidders and auction results in Swedish Treasury auctions during uncertainty at the time of when the bidding occurs. They find that bidders respond to uncertainty in three separate ways; as uncertainty increases, bidders reduce the price levels at which they want to bid, they reduce quantity demanded and bidders also increase bidding dispersion amongst the same bond. In their event study, they use the price movement that is associated with a level change in the zero coupon yield curve as an appropriate benchmark. Whilst running the regressions on the cumulative average abnormal returns (they refer to them as CAR( x, x) ) they focus on three scenarios found in earlier yield drift testing, which takes place during 6 days before the auction, on the auction day and up to 8 days after the auction (CAR( 6, 1), CAR(0,0) and CAR(+1,+8)). They find there is a negative average return in the post auction period. They also find the most significant variables in explaining bond prices, from their regression modelling, are the cover and size of the auction. There is also a positive association between the cover variable and the pre auction CAR, which means that the greater the demand for gilts at an auction, the greater the abnormal returns. Cover and post auction CAR are negatively associated showing that the greater the excess demand at an auction, the smaller the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Aristophanes Clouds is a social commentary on the nature of justice as it pertains to the philosophic life within the city disguised as a crude theatrical comedy. The protagonist Strepsiades is overcome by debt due to his son Pheidippides obsession with horsemanship, and Strepsiades seeks the help of local philosopher Socrates in order to learn the art of deceptive speaking so that he may trick his creditors and not give anyone back even an obol of those debts (120). Although the play is filled with vulgar humor on the surface, Aristophanes uses the dialogue to examine the dangers of the philosophical life and its effect on the city. Through the story of Strepsiades, Aristophanes leads his audience to the conclusion that the philosophic life and those who partake in it are a danger to the city because of their blatant disregard for the gods and the traditional customs of Athens. At the opening of the play, Strepsiades begins with an invocation to Zeus the King! (2). Upon arrival to Socrates Thinkery, Strepsiades begs Socrates to teach him how to win both just and unjust causes by speaking in order to have his debts forgiven without having to pay them back (98), and swears by the gods that he will pay Socrates (246). • 11. Smell versus Taste with Food Taste and smell are something we use every day. From the moment we wake up,we are smelling things all around us. We taste food every single time it enters our mouth. But, do we really know how each of them work? Every time we put something in our mouths we are able to taste it. Taste is one of the five senses: touch, smell, hear, vision, and taste. Small structures, papillae, found on the surface of the tongue, upper esophagus, and epiglottis are responsible for taste. We have over 10,000 taste buds or papillae. They were first discovered by Georg Meissner(1829 1905) and Rudolf Wagner(1805 1864).The process of tasting is called gustation. Chemical substances in solutions stimulate the cells and they send nerve impulses to the brain, we detect this as taste. The word taste is derived from a Latin word, taxare, meaning to feel , to touch of to judge. When an individual puts a substance in their mouth, five distinct tastes can be detected. These five distinct sensations or qualities are sweet, salty, sour, bitter, and umami. When any of these tastes touch the tongue, the receptors send signals to the brain on what to interpret. Each taste has a different chemical reaction. For example, when saliva breaks down sodium ions (Na+) or acids, your tongue detects it as salty or sour(Light,2009). The chemical break down for a sweet taste is hard to specify because many chemical elements are involved. Taste buds are located all around the tongue, the cheeks, and the ... Annuity dues are payment such as apartment rent payment at the beginning of the period. The outstanding of the loan information is helpful beyond the professional front. The outstanding interest rate can be calculated by using the same formula as a present value with a slight variation. The present outstanding value of the loan = PMT [1 1/ (1+ annual rate of interest/m) ^number of years *m / annual rate of interest/m]. Here, m is a number of times compounding occurred in the year. The American Heart Association defines it as a complex clinical syndrome that can result from any structural or functional cardiac disorder that impairs the ability of the ventricle to fill or eject blood (Veronique, 2013). In this case report will critically analyse the general information of the giving condition in relation to the patient s case. Discussion Epidemiology of Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) can be subjective due to the different representation of the meaning of heart failure, as well as the prevalence and incidence of heart failure. In the Framingham Heart Study (1965) the lifetime risk of developing CHF is one in five. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 31. Chlorpromache Research Paper This week I learnt about chlorpromazine, which is an antipsychotic. It is also used in short term management of anxiety, agitation or disturbed behaviour in non psychotic disorders. Chlorpromazine is an antagonist of many receptors, which include α1 adrenoceptor, M3 muscarinic receptor, H1 Histamine receptor, 5HT2 receptor, dopamine D2 receptor and angiotensin II AT1 receptor. This illustrates one of the pharmacology principles, which is selectivity of a drug. A highly selective drug ( clean drug ) binds to only one receptor or molecular target whereas a drug having low selectivity ( dirty drug ) will bind to many targets in the body. Binding upon many receptors can produce many effects but some effects are not desired. For example, chlorpromazine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Morphine mimics endogenous opioids and activates opioid receptors in the central and peripheral nervous systems. Opioid receptors are G protein coupled receptors which are coupled to Gi protein. Upon binding of morphine to opioid receptors, it triggers the inhibition of adenylate cyclase enzyme and ultimately stops the firing of impulses for nociceptive information. After repeated activation of opioid receptors by morphine, some receptors can be desensitised and binding of morphine to these receptors can no longer stops the neurotransmission. As a consequence, tolerance to morphine develops. When a drug is used repeatedly over time, tolerance can develop as the body adapts to the presence of the drug in the body. Therefore, a higher dose is required to achieve the same desired effect. For example, for morphine, if tolerance develops, a higher dose is needed in order to attain the same analgesic effect. Moreover, one of the adverse effects of morphine when it is used for long term to relieve pain is physical dependence. Dependence develops as a result of tolerance, leading to a resetting of homeostatic mechanisms that require the continued presence of drug for normal function. Therefore, if chronic treatment is stopped suddenly or an antagonist is given, withdrawal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, sweating, anxiety can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Summary Of Rules Of The Game By Amy Tan Imagine being one of the best. Standing on a podium holding a trophy, yet coming home to parents who are disappointed because you stood 3rd place on that podium. This is how Waverley feels in the short story Rules of the Game by Amy Tan. Waverly lives with her mother, father, and two older brothers in an apartment in Chinatown, San Francisco. Waverly loves to run around in the bustling streets of her neighborhood smelling red beans and pastries being cooked nearby. One Christmas, the Jong family went to their nearby church for a Christmas party, and Waverly s brother got a chess set. This chess set sprouted a new hobby for Waverly, and soon after she played chess every day. Waverly became a chess star, with a mother who wanted nothing less than her daughter to be number one. Extreme tension built up from Mrs. Jong pressure, eventually leading the mother and daughter into a fight that could ruin their relationship. The way Mrs. Jong reacted to Waverly s talent is especially significant in Waverly s development. Sometimes when parents support their children too much it can stress them out, and parents can often forget that children are children and you must let them relax. Throughout Rules of the game , Mrs. Jong supports Waverly so much that Waverly feels as if she can t mess up, for it would disappoint her mother. This leads to Waverly feeling a lot of pressure and stress. Near the end of the story, before the fight, Waverly mentions a time she was trying to practice ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. What Are Gender Roles In American Culture Aishat Adebayo WGSS 2010 12 PM Cultural Influence on Gender Role Ever since I was little, all I have ever dreamt about was becoming a successful doctor and living in a beautiful modern home with my husband and many children. You could say that I m aspiring for my version of the American dream. My parents, who I look up to, portray a glimpse of this future that I hope to achieve. Since I grew up in a Nigerian Muslim household, with conservative parents, my sister and I were raised to uphold certain beliefs regarding gender roles. In a traditional African culture, it s customary for women to be raised as housewives as men are believed to be the breadwinners of the household. From a very young age, I was taught to cook, clean and care for my future family. As extra motivation my parents would often tell me how shameful it would be to fail as a housewife and unable to marry as a result. Just getting married, does not cut it, women are also expected to birth a child for their husbands (notice the FOR) otherwise, they are looked down upon. My parents always made sure to tell my sister and me, that for us to obtain a happy marriage, we should look for an African Muslim ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of this, I rarely give men who do not display these characteristics, the time of day (Hence why I m still single). Recently, I came across a situation in which a male individual revealed the mindset of a typical egotistical man. Situations such as this only reinforce my beliefs that good men no longer ... The format of self report study that will be used to discuss limitations of self report data will be a test and a personality disorder test will be used as an example. For specific example answers for the test I completed the results all rated low for all personality disorders. Construct Validity Construct validity is the extent to which a test measures a theoretical construct (Dyce, n.d.); that is, can the 4degreez.com Personality Disorder Test measure the presence of the different behaviours described by the diagnostic criteria for the different personality disorders? There are two subcategories of construct validity: convergent validity and discriminant validity. In the case of a personality disorder test convergent validity is the degree to which the test that should be theoretically related to a behaviour associated with a given personality disorder is in fact related. This form of validity is an example in which results should be taken in a person s context or in conjunction with results of other forms of testing. For example, Q11 of the 4degreez.com Personality Disorder Test (n.d.) Do you have a difficult time relating to others? (p. 1). If a person s contacts are of at a lower education level their language or ideas may or may not be understood. Final Self Evaluation Although my journey within the Clinical Mental Health program at the University of Scranton has come to an end, however, my journey to become a licensed professional counselor is still underway. As I tie up loose ends by handing in time sheets and remaining assignments, I find myself in a reflective peaceful space. As I look back over the years that I have spent within the program perfecting my craft, I can t help but think that I am truly blessed. It is one thing to choose a career, but it is another to answer a calling. I say with great conviction, that I am blessed to be called to such a meaningful purpose. It is only by the grace of God that I can look back and see the person that I have matured into, not only personally but professionally. I remain humble and grateful for the opportunity, not only to reflect but, to have made it through this part of my journey. I started this program excited, yet, full of self doubt and now in my last semester, I can gladly report that I am lesser of the two. Over the years, I have embraced challenges and endured self doubt and it is through my internship that I have felt growth in solidifying my self confidence. With this developed confidence I prepare to embrace the next chapter of my career with greater excitement and enthusiasm. This semester of internship has provided me with the opportunity to hone my skills, and similar to a potter s touch, smooth out and shape my growing edges. My goals for this semester ... • 39. Kantianism By Immanuel Kant Kantianism Immanuel Kant was interested in the meaning of a good life, mostly doing the right thing. He was a deontologist rather than a consequentialist, meaning that he emphasised intent rather than outcome. He claimed that the materially best life is not the morally best life and that a morally best life is favoured to a materially best life. Kant started his own philosophy known as Kantianism. Even though we consider power, wealth, honour, health, and so on to be good, Kant argues that these things are not unqualifiedly good as they can be abused. In order to comprehend the meaning of a good life, it is essential to look for the most basic standard of unqualified good. Kant says that no matter how hard one might try to guarantee the outcome of their actions, one may never know it; consequently outcome is not a good contender for unqualified good. He further claims that one must always be judged on intention rather than outcome or motivation. Therefore his argument is that only a good will can be unqualifiedly good. Hume reasons that all practical reasoning is hypothetical, since eventually it is determined by the desires of the doer. He also says that moral reasoning can only be practical. Kant disagrees with this and argues that if we think of the conclusions of practical reason as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are grounded in reason and apply to everyone.
