History Of Native Americans
James K. Polk offered Mexico 30 million dollars for the land, but Mexico turned it down. Polk then
moves troops into a disputed zone between the Rio Grande and the Nueces Riverto. Mexico still
upset about Texas, responds by sending troops out and it results in the loss of 12 U.S. soldiers.
Polk uses this and gets Congress to sign off on a war and in the course of two years proceeds to
defeat Mexico. It ends with the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, signed February 1848, which
essentially was the submission of all land north of the Rio Grande to the U.S. The U.S. erased
Mexico s debt to them, which was about 3 million dollars and proceeded to give Mexico 15 million
dollars for the land now acquired. This land would later be known as Texas (who... Show more

Later on that year, the Mexicans evicted all Americans from their property in the disputed
Mesilla Valley. In response, Governor William Lane of New Mexico declared Mesilla Valley as
apart of U.S. territory of New Mexico. Mexican President Antonio Santa Anna responded by
sending troops into the valley. U.S. President Franklin Pierce sends James Gadsden to negotiate
and resolve the issue. In need of money to fund an army to fight rebellions in Mexico, Santa
Anna agrees to 45,000 square miles for 15 million dollars. The treaty was later ratified by the U.S.
Senate to 29,670 square miles for 10 million dollars. It was signed on June 8, 1854.
The two countries were still in tense conflict but seemed to help the other in times of need. While
the U.S. was fighting in World War I, Mexicans were encouraged to migrate to help out with the
labor shortage. Mexicans also fought in the American Civil War and the U.S. accepted migrants
and refugees from Mexico during the Mexican Revolution (1910 1920). Also, times were changing
and farming was not a stable enough income so many Mexican migrant workers moved from rural
areas to those participating in mining and machinery. Along with the rapid increase of Mexican
immigrants into the U.S. for job opportunities and safe haven, were immigrants coming over from
many other countries for similar reasons. This higher density in population led to a rise in crime
rate. This led to

There are for example different techniques to twist the yarns or types of finishing. Thread can also
differ in size, tenacity, loop or breaking strength and color fastness (YIL Corporation, n.d./2010).
This means thread can be differentiated easily, to satisfy customers needs and wishes. It is also
important to emphasize that without differentiation the consumers are in the position to make a
trade off in quality by switching to a company from an emerging country, like China, to get much
lower prices due to local and undervalued labor costs (Athukorala, 2007). To sum it up, the
industrial thread industry within the EEA is very competitive. The only striking factor is the
production of a differentiated product which can be explained by the increasing competition from
the East. The damage by the cartels can therefore be estimated to be very extensive, so it is now
interesting to investigate what agreements were made by the cartel members.
2.2 The Agreements
A competitive market is what an economy should strive for. It maximizes total welfare and
benefits all parties. The textile industry itself is very competitive, so that it is impossible for
individual firms to generate additional economic profits in the long run. Some companies would
therefore find it very beneficial to coordinate their actions. For example they could reduce the
quantity supplied, so that the market price would rise artificially. In the thread market there were
two kinds of agreements

Stress-Related Back Pain Research Paper
Millions of Americans have experienced back pain at one point or another in their life. Back pain
is one of the most common complaints that a doctor will hear from a patient on a visit.
Understanding the source of your pain can be very overwhelming and frustrating, especially when a
structural explanation cannot be provided. Could your back painbe triggered by stress? For many
individuals, stress is not the first thing that comes to mind when trying to establish the cause of
their back pain. However, it is quite possible that stress is the primary cause of your back pain.
Stress related back pain is real. What is stress related back pain? This is a back pain that is
initiated by the psychological or emotional factor stress, or is maintained by it, or both. In simpler
terms, when we hold stress in our bodies, it can cause a physical change that leads to back pain.
Physician and professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation at New York University, John Sarno
MD, who helped to popularize the notion of stress related back pain, contends that the patient s
feelings, personality, and unconscious issues are the direct cause of the back pain. Stressful life
situations, coupled with personality characteristics, can... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Blood flow to different soft tissues, which includes muscles, tendons, ligaments, and nerves, is
limited as a result of constricted blood vessels, triggered by this psychological change. A decrease
in oxygen in the blood, along with waste products in the muscle, amounts to muscle tension and
back pain in the individual. Stress related back pain carries symptoms such as back or neck pain,
sleep disruption and fatigue, shifting muscle aches, and muscle tenderness. If back pain is stress
related, lacking a structural explanation, a multi disciplinary treatment option involving an
assessment of the physical, cognitive, emotional, and environmental is typically

The Success Of The City Of Detroit
The city of Detroit was the city of opportunity, wealth and place where anyone could pursue their
American dream. In early 1910 s innovative inventor, Henry Ford brought automobile industry into
american soil. First and biggest factories of automobile manufacturing was opened in several places
in Detroit. Detroitbecame third biggest city in the United States with largest population during
1950s. Automobile manufacturing was the base of Detroit s economy for decades. However, today
its not like it was before. During 20th to 21st century auto industry had many highs and lows but
overall had collapsed completely. While Detroit s officials though that they settled the economy for
a long run, the unexpected change in the city s profit destroyed the economic system. Detroit which
once was mecca for middle class workers, who were pursuing their American Dream had major
economical collapse due to miscalculation of revenue, which also led to failure of education system
and decline in diversity. Detroit s economy was build on manufacturing in automobile industry
which made Detroit third biggest and richest city of United States, but had great decline in
economy when Detroit lost all the manufacturing and investors during late 20th century. During
first years of introduction to automobile manufacturing by inventor Henry Ford, Detroit had
economical boom. Detroit was home to automobile, steam motor and home appliance

How To Calculate The Molar Mass Of Sodium Phosphate...
There are many steps to prepare a quantitive solution. First you have to calculate the molar mass
of solution. Then you place the solution into 1000mL of water, making a 1M solution. After you
make a 1M solution you change it to the designated amount, and change the molar mass, and the
molar solution. Finally you have the need molar solution all you have to change is the volume,
and for that you simply divide both the the mass and volume by the same number you need to
obtain the designated volume. In order to prepare 500 mL of a .25 M aqueous solution of sodium

Texas Constitution Vs. U.s. Constitution
Texas is considered a very diverse and unique state in many different aspects. It is the second largest
state with more than twenty six million people residing. People all over the state live in a variety of
environments, cities, suburbs, rural areas, you name it. Of course though, like in everything else,
there are always both positive and negative things. However, despite the fact that Texas have very
high poverty rates and it has the second highest income inequality, Texas is a very interesting state
and it has a lot of things that are worth learning about. I learned some things about Texas politics
that I thought were very interesting. These topics include the State Constitution and the legislature.
The Texas Constitution and the U.S. Constitution is very similar to each other in terms of structure.
Both documents provide framework, and the amendments come from the will of the people. The
Texas Constitution was written to govern the the individual state alone so it should be more
specific and less flexible to change. On the other hand, the U.S Constitution is more flexible than
the Texas Constitution because of the fact that it was designed to be governing a total of fifty states
with each individual states differing from others in values, beliefs, attitudes, behaviors, and the
states consist of individuals who have similar values. Today, we are still operating under the 1876
Constitution with four hundred ninety one amendments, which includes a preamble and seventeen

There are many types of leadership perspectives available, choosing the best available option
necessary to lead others is sometimes challenging. Whenever you are purchasing an existing
business with knowledgeable staff and the complexities involved with job are nearly impossible
without the current staff, a certain amount of contingencies for various aspects of the individuals
are imperative. An extremely effective organizational strategy entails the utilization of a style
described as taking a compromising philosophical approach. Enabling others with the ability to
contribute freely and developing those individuals to the point whereby working freely equates to
achieving consistently superior results. While some leaders feel that in some situations,
empowerment is best achieved through a more direct and active approach, other leaders feel most
situations call for laissez faire, a dismissive and passive approach (Wong Giessner, 2015). The
differences found among the two types of leadership endeavors can have a strikingly profound
impact upon the completion of organizational goals and objectives. Prior organizational experience
is extensive enough to distinguish between and understand some of the implications for both
methods of leadership. The current organizational worker who would like to continue her
employment under new leadership has already began to make comments regarding

Use Of Performance Enhancing Drugs
The use of performance enhancing drugs (PEDs) has been exposed for a while in the world of
professional sports. Media and sports fans, myself included, look unfavorably on the use of
PEDs by professional athletes, the reasons why it s viewed as unfavorable can be attributed to
the theory of symbolic interactionism. Even though there is a large stigma against the use of
PEDs the testing process has largely remained inefficient and not reliable. Performance enhancing
drugs should have a more rigorous screening process because when they are present there is a
higher risk of injury, a false sense of talent which leads to unhappy fans, and an influence on
younger athletes wanting to be like their idol. Steroid use is ever present in the world of
professional sportsand is making its way down to the collegiate and high school levels. A large
reason that PED use in professional sports is because the testing process is so poor. Many
athletes, including boxing megastar Mike Tyson, have come forward after their career on their use
of PED and even other drugs. Mike admitted to using urine other than his own to pass the tests.
However the existing testing program may have put too much emphasis on quantity and may have
neglected quality. The above mentioned 1.76% of findings is in contrast to widespread belief that
at least 10% of all elite athletes are doping(Maennig, 2014, p. 1202). This emphasizes the fact that
the current tests in place are more worried about testing larger

The 60 s Research Paper
The 1960 s was the period that saw the greatest revolution in popular music. It was due to many
features, such as the change in social structures, cultural shifts, and new technologies. The music
was novelty, powerful, and relayed a message to those who listened. Rock music seemed to embody
the change that the young generation wanted to see in the world after their parents generation
destroyed it. Many of the artists, such as the Beatlesand Bob Dylan, remain major influences to
musicians to this day, and their music still remains very popular. The music in the 60 s was
egalitarian, promoting equality; eclectic, deriving influences from many different styles; and real,
relating music to the world.

the genre, with many artists of many backgrounds gaining popularity. Women like Janis Joplin,
African Americans like Jimi Hendrix, and even white British men such as the Beatles all gained
popularity. It included everyone. Since there was no disclusion, there were influences from many
different backgrounds and musical styles. There was folk influences such as Dylan, pop
influences from the Beatles, soul influences from Aretha Franklin, and even African American
influences that led to Motown. These styles led to the formations and beginnings of new types
of musical styles, from people who began to mix genres. People such as Jimi Hendrix began to
take the already laid groundwork of the rock sound and turn it into their own, in the matter of a
decade. Hendrix was best known for his amazing guitar skills, and was able to throw down mighty
solos and flights. Jamerson also recreated the role of bass through Motown. These new ways of
creating music and experimentation, combined with the integration of the rock community, led to a

Figurative Language In The House Of The Scorpion
The Mood of the Reader. The famous philosopher Plato once said, You can discover more about
a person with an hour of play than in a year of conversation. But dialogue and figurative language
can help the reader understand people, and their surroundings. An hour of play can t tell their
deepest secrets and their emotions to bring your fate s together. In The House of the Scorpion
by Nancy Farmer, the dialogue of her characters and the descriptive language she uses helps
show the mood and helps inference more about the novel. Nancy Farmer creates fascinating
dialogue to introduce the mood and the characters. In the book the author uses a lot of dialogue
to move the events along and introduce feelings to the reader. For instance, when Matt, the main
character, and Matt s friend, see a man lying on the ground and say to each other, Can t we can t
we help him? faltered Matt. It s too late for that poor soul, grunted the bodyguard. What about
the doctor? This quote indicates how kind of a heart Matt has. It introduces guilt to the reader of
the man lying there and a little pleasure of knowing that the main character isn t soulless. It helps
add feelings and depth of the understanding of the reader when reading this dialogue. Secondly,
when Celia, Matt s guardian is leaving for work, says, What s this? the woman said. You re a big
boy now, almost six. You know I have to work. ... Take me with you, begged Matt, grabbing her
shirt and wadding it up with his hands.

Plato’S Idea Of Civic Justice Displays A Criteria For...
Plato s idea of civic justice displays a criteria for specialization that holds each individual
responsible for producing their own rendition of excellence that leads to a just life, which
produces a just city, and ultimately civic justice. Plato describes civic justice as ...doing one s own
work provided that it comes to be in a certain way (433b pg.108).
The idea for a just city was constructed in the book, Plato Republic, and in that blueprint, the
ultimate goal was to have a just city, it should also be noted that before Plato there were numerous
theories of Justice. The other theories were proposed by Cephalus, Polymarchus, Trasymachus and
Glaucon all of which Plato did not agree with and all three had one common element. The element

Correspondent to the three elements of human nature are three classes in the social organism,
Guardians which are the rulers or philosopher class or the ruling class which represented
reasoning; the auxiliaries, a class of warriors which guard the city is representative of the spirit;
Producers are farmers, artisans which are basically the lower run of the ladder.
The other side of the coin is the idea of being unjust, Plato describes this as, meddling and
exchange between these classes, there is the greatest harm...and the worst thing one could do to
the city is cause injustice (434c pg109). The meddling and exchange between classes refers to the
idea of not having specialization, consequently this type of behavior is expressed as harmful,
because it leaves room for individuals to produce mediocre abilities.
The idea that jobs were chosen according to one s own abilities and temperament gives an
individual the tools to become the best they possibly can be. If the people were allowed to
choose their own jobs, they might discover down the line that it was a mistake allowing room for
these types of mistakes could cause the city to no longer be considered just, because not all of the
parts would be working toward the common goal. There would be a segment of the population that
would have to find other means for employment which would better suit them; this would be a very
tedious and long process.

Apple s First Macintosh Commercial
On December 31st of 1983 an eccentric commercial was introduced, challenging other companies
and awaking people all over the country. It has been more than 30 years and people are still talking
about Apple s first Macintosh commercial. Companies use commercials to show the audience that
their products are worth buying like Apple did in its first Macintoshcommercial. By using themes
from George Orwells 1984, Apple was able to speak volumes about its product without showing
or describing it. Apple visualizes its self as the hero that will save the world and people believed
it. Most of us now own an Apple brand. This advertisement is an effective ad because it contains
a valuable message that was provided to the viewer by using contrasting visuals and it is about
awakening the people and breaking the chains of similarity and loving to be different. Yet, it is
ironic because Apple has become one of the most controlling companies in our society. In the
complex mysterious 1984 commercial of Apple Mac that definitely needs a second thought before
being understood, everything is grey at the beginning. People marching down the tunnel, wearing
all grey with their heads shaved and their identity lost. Then we notice an athletic girl with red
shorts contrasting the grey atmosphere that was created at the beginning of the advertisement. And
we also visualize a man in a big blue screen giving a speech and everyone is listening to him. Then

First, since the firm has been a historic champion of barrier coating , starting producing a product
which has been characterized by the very firm as weaker and lower quality would go against the

its market education efforts of more than a decade. Anyway, as mentioned, GAFCEL s success
did not come about as a result of creating additional market but rather of gaining a portion of

Essay on Pepsi In Cuba
How attractive to PepsiCo is the proposal to buy 30% of Deltex for 1.1B pesos (US$360M)?
Based on the information in the case, Pepsi could invest US$360 million in exchange for 30%
equity of Deltex. So we have to calculate the value of 30% equity of Deltex. First, we calculated
the discount factor by using average unlevered beta of US independent bottlers, US 10 year
Treasury bond as risk free rate and assuming market risk premium 10%. We came up with 9.83% of
WACC. Next, we calculated Deltex free cash flowand terminal value and then converted them
into US dollar value. Now with WACC and total cash flow, we had NPV of the company. So we

c.Pepsi distribution system had become inefficiency and fragmented and lacked scale advantages.
It needed to consolidate its bottling group, to build new packaging capacity and expand new

Animal Farm Journal Entry Analysis
Roughly a century after Napoleon s rule of Animal Farm, a young pig stumbled upon a dusty

which held those legendary meetings from long before. With a tentative trotter, the youngster filed

of a raven from the days of old and his quest to lead his animal brethren to the religious truth
unfolded before the pigs eyes the story of Moses. The following are the most significant entries

Annie Oakley As A Feministist
Annie Oakley expressed, I would like to see every woman know how to handle [firearms] as
naturally as they know how to handle babies. (Kasper, 215) This unyielding truth can be uttered
by anyone, anywhere. However, Annie Oakley was not just anyone she was a remarkably talented
female sharpshooter. She was one of a kind. Oakley was a petite woman, only 5 feet tall and
arguably 120 pounds, her diminutive stature made her stand out in the predominantly male world of
sharpshooting. Throughout her career, Annie proved many spectators wrong in their assumptions
of a femaleshooter. Oakley should be considered a modern feminist because she created an outlet
for sportswomen that didn t exist. Oakley opened doors with her talent, graceful Victorian style and
philanthropy for women s economic and social equality.
Early on, Annie s family was quite large, she was the fifth of seven surviving children. Annie s
father would hunt while her mother tended to the house. Annie enjoyed going out hunting with her
father, and shooting came very natural to her. At the young age of eight years old, Annie began
shooting and trapping small game. In 1866, her father died of pneumonia. Unable to support her
children, Oakley s mother, sent her to the live at the Darke County Infirmary. Also known, as the
county poor house when she was 9 years old. Annie worked as a servant, doing chores and caring
for children. At the age of 12, she ran away and went back home. Her mother and siblings still

Education Is What Brings Us Students Together
Education is what brings us students together. Many of us have the goal of receiving an
undergraduate degree successfully. Living on campus is an addition to the college and educational
experience. As a Resident Assistant my job is to help create an environment where residents can
achieve that goal. In addition, if residents come to me with academic issues, I will always try to
help or refer them to on campus resources such as various study groups and tutoring at the academic
achievement center. From the day they move in, Towson becomes their new environment and their
floorbecomes the first of the many communities they are a part of. It is important for each resident

need people who know how set aside differences and build communities. When a person can
appreciate who they are, they too can appreciate and admire the diversity of others. As an RA my
hope is that my influence on residents last longer than four year but a life time.

The Hardness Of 3 Steel Alloys
By varying the carbon content, cooling rates, we will get different microstructure of steels that
yield different properties which can be tailored to meet different engineering applications. In this
experiment, the hardness of 3 steel alloys with varying Carbon compositions will be compared.
With different amounts of Pearlite formed, we can also estimate the hardness of pure pearlite and
ferrite. Lastly, the fourth sample will be quenched in water and a Martensitic structure will be
observed. We will discuss the attributes that allows Martensite to be one of the hardest steelalloy
available.
1. Introduction
There are many different forms of steel alloys used today. They are tailored during their
processing phases to meet the wide array of engineering applications. Steel alloy in its simplest
form is a basic mixture of Iron and Carbon and by varying the carbon content, the rate of cooling
and the addition of impurities like Chromium for high corrosion resistance, we are able to derive
alloys of different mechanical properties such as stainless steel and tool steels as these 3 factors
affect the microstructure of the steel. This can be understood by the simple phase diagram of Iron
and Carbon in Figure 1.1. Figure 1.1 The Iron Carbon Phase diagram (David Dye 2014)
Steel alloys with less than 0.8 wt% Carbon are termed as Hypo Eutectoid steel. They are the ones
widely used in the industry. For steels higher than 0.8 wt% Carbon, they are termed as cast iron or

Essay Expanding Marriage to Same-Sex Couples
Marriage, the comprehensive and exclusive union of two people s bodies and minds, is a special
and important relationship. As Professor Macedo explained, marriage is very public: Once people
know you are married, all sorts of presumptions follow. People know that married spouses have
made a special extensive commitment to one another, typically involving sexual fidelity, sharing a
household, and caring for one another. The label of marriagemakes it known to others that two
people are engaged in a long term, exclusive relationship and the commitment of marriage become
social expectations and bases for normative judgment. Regardless of sexual preferences, marriage is
something that most people inexplicitly strive towards after... Show more content on

On the other side of the spectrum, liberal critics have even argued for the complete elimination
of marriage in favor of civil unions for all and for the expansion of marriage to include
polygamy. Thaler and Sunsteins argued, the only legal status states would confer on couples
would be a civil union, which would be a domestic partnership agreement between two people.
These two scholars want marriage to be a private matter, so they want to get the State complete
out of the marriage business in favor of letting religious or private organizations distribute the
distinction of marriage. Moreover, Andrew March of Yale University objected to the standard
complaints against polygamy and asserted that the State should additionally recognize plural
marriages, using the same arguments as proponents of same sex marriages. In order to show
why the expansion of marriage to include same sex couples while restricting marriage to
monogamy is in the best interest of society, it is imperative to address the conjugal view and
show how this view of marriage is erroneous and how the government cannot endorse recognition
of plural marriage as it adversely effects civil society. Next, I will show why the expansion of
marriage to same sex couples is the best

Abstract 2 Naphthol has been selectively oxidized to 2 hydroxy 1,4 naphthoquinone (HNQ,
Lawsone) with hydrogen peroxide in presence of
5, 10, 15, 20 tetrakis (p sulfonatophenyl)porphinatomanganese (III) chloride as catalyst in alkaline
aqueous solution. The catalytic oxidation afforded
2 hydroxy 1,4 naphthoquinone in high yield (95 %). The effect of reaction parameters on the
catalytic activity and the yield of HNQ have been investigated. UV vis spectral analysis during
oxidation reaction indicated that oxomanganese intermediate O=Mn(IV)TPPSCl was the active
species in the oxidation reaction.

lovely light of logic. It has, in point of fact, been the pinnacle of many wars, and caused many a
bloodshed; it has seized our minds and, as a master puppeteer, pulled the strings of fate. Yet the
question remains, and a grand question it is: in America, which subjects and/or events should the

metaphysics, had never been so clear as J.L. Freeman stood before a jury and said thus unto it:
and if this be the case, then all Seraphs be damned to Hell! Yet, to be clear, this story does in fact
have an origin, hidden, of course, by the primitive man with his puzzling, primitive philosophy!
A single score and three years ago, at the age of fifty one, J.L. Freeman began his day. Perhaps he
smoked a cigar, downed espresso, continued his writing while looking at the natural, hostile world
for inspiration. And as he inhaled the cigar, smoke bonding to his throat, tongue and mind, he sat

Americans With Disability Act Essay
Introduction
The history of the Americans with Disabilities Act began long before it was originally
introduced to Congress in 1988. (Mayerson, 1992). There isn t one person responsible for the
ADA but rather thousands of Americans who have fought for the rights of people with
disabilities and constantly worked to make their lives easier. People with disabilities for a long
time were thought of as outsiders in society and were shunned by the majority. It wasn t until the
1900 s when organizations by and for people with disabilities exploded in popularity and began to
get attention and make real positives changes for people struggling with disabilities (Meldon). A

Specifically, in a case known as the Sutton Trilogy of 1999 in which the Disability Rights Education
and Defense Fund participated presenting arguments in favor of a broad interpretation of the
definition of disability presented by the ADA, the high court ruled resulting in a significantly
limited interpretation of the federal definition of disability. This was the first ruling that eventually
lead to the ADA Amendments Act of 2008 which was passed in response to the number of
decisions by the Supreme Court that had interpreted the original text of the ADA (Brief History of
Civil Rights, 2017). The ADAAA was signed into law in September of 2008 by President George
W. Bush to counteract the Supreme Court s narrow interpretation of disability and provide broad
protection from discrimination (Timeline of the ADA). One of the things that the ADAAA required
was that courts interpreting the ADA and other federal disability laws focus on whether the covered
entity had discriminated, rather than whether the individual seeking the law s protection had an
impairment that fit within the technical definition of the term disability (Brief History of Civil
Rights, 2017). The ADAAA took effect in 2009 and had multiple regulations updated over the next
couple years. Currently, the ADA celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2015 and continues to maintain
that the definition of disability should be construed in favor of broad coverage of

The Importance Of A Hero And Frederick Douglass
Embedded Assessment 1.1 A hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is brave five minutes
longer, (Ralph Waldo Emerson). A hero is just like an ordinary person, but they make a choice to
rescue someone, and put their life on the line. For instance, a hero is valiant when they need to be,
sacrifices themself for another, and they don t put another in harm s way.
A heroic person is undaunted by fearsome situations and uses courage when it is needed. When a
hero sees someone in danger, they aren t quite a hero yet. They are just a regular person that
springs into action to save someone. At the Primrose Daycare, a car crashed into a fence, almost
running over some children. A teacher that was nearby tried to shield the kids, [and] she got the
brunt of it, (NBCDFW, Injured in Crash at Frisco Daycare). This woman is a prime example of
courage and her quick actions saved them all. Similarly, Frederick Douglass displayed this
amount of courage as well. Frederick Douglass was a slave that had to be brave and escape
himself and others from the wrath of slavery. This is what the people saved by Douglass think
about him, When it is finally ours, this freedom, this liberty, this beautiful and terrible thing...this
man, this Douglass, this former slave, this Negro beaten to his knees, exiled, visioning a world
where not is lonely, none hunted, alien, this man shall be remembered, (Hayden 81). Frederick had
to be strong and stealthy to make the journey to the North. Both of

People with the growth mindset care more about learning and are eager to learn. Dweck did a study

shows that individuals with a growth mindset are more passionate and motivated toward learning
because they believe learning will make them grow and succeed. Anyone can learn and change how
smart they are. Dweck did research for the students who entered the university and weren t fluent in
English. Also, she measured their mindset. Dweck told the students that they have a definite
amount of intellect and they can t do much about it. For instance, those who learn with a growth

indicates that students with a growth mindset firmly agree that an individual can constantly change
how clever said individual is. People with the growth mindset strongly concur that success is about

Throne Of Blood Movie And Book Comparison Essay
Throne of Blood by Akira Kurosawa tells the story of a Japanese soldier who, after hearing a
prophecy told to him by an evil spirit, kills the Japanese king to assume his role. The film has
been hailed by many as the greatest rendition of Shakespeare s Macbeth of all time, surpassing
even direct reenactments of the classic in fidelity. Despite the fact that not a single line of dialog
is shared between the two works, Akira Kurosawa has managed to capture the essence of the
original play in all its glory. However, that is not say that the Throne of Blood is a complete carbon
copy of Macbeth. Although the film possesses the same basic storyline, Kurosawa s rendition of
Macbeth has a set of unique qualities that separate it from the original Shakespearean story. The
same goes for Roman Polanski s Macbeth, which, although slightly deviating from the original

The Throne of Blood takes place in Japan, during a bloody civil war that seems may never stop.
Much like Macbeth, the movie tells the story of two men who meet a spirit in the woods who tells
them of their future. However, the themes present reflect differently in this rendition. Rather than
being centered around betrayal and ambition, most of the film s themes relate to the necessity of
loyalty or an honor of sorts, a trait that was much desired by many Japanese soldiers at that time.
This new loyalty centered theme can be seen vividly in the many scenes between Washizu and his
wife, Asaji. In Macbeth, Lady Macbeth taunts her husband s manhood in order to propel him to
commit murder. This action is in line with European thought at that time, where courage was the
most desirable of traits. Said themes are made evident in this quote; the scene in Macbeth preceding

The Ramifications of Government Reform on Education Essay
America currently ranks 36th in the world in regards to education. This encompasses reading, math,
and science. Education in the United States represents multiple achievement gaps across
ethnicities, income levels, and geography. There are many reasons as to why America ranks low.
The curriculum in the United States varies widely from district to district and stretches from state
to state, which is one of the major problems in why America compares greatly to that of other
countries. For instance, different schools offer different classes. In some schools classes that may

As a result, states are required to develop assessments on basic skills. These assessments vary and
can be given on any subject with varying frequencies. Because the act does not enforce a national
achievement standard, each state develops its own standards. Therefore, the requirements,
expectations, and achievements are diverse.
The No Child Left Behind Act promotes the idea that competition between schools will increase the
efficiency and effectiveness of the education system. At the same time, the rhetoric of NCLB
maintains the progressive message of the Common School era (Aske, Connolly, Corman, 107) In
essence, it is contradictory. On the one hand the act wants competition so that students will learn
more and want to achieve more. However, it also wants all schools to be on the same level or
playing field so that they are equal. In order to achieve with competition some will have to be left
behind, therefore there is no real way to measure actual achievement with a common school ideal.
The Common School era dates back to the 19th century and states that in America it is the idea or
expectation that all children are supported equally in regards to education and are afforded the same
opportunities. It is based on the view that education should be an equitable, assimilative,

immensity at which this struggle occurs, makes it a very real and predominant issue that is
transparent in many artistic works such as Man s Search for Meaning, Shawshank Redemption,
and The Book Thief. The characters in these works survived their many perils of imprisonment by
finding meaning, grasping hope, and having a will to live on. Firstly, Man s Search for Meaning,
by Viktor E. Frankl, illustrated the many struggles that come with living in a concentration camp.
In this book, Viktor Frankl also described that he lost his manuscript that contained his life s work
and he stated that my deep desire to write this manuscript anew helped me to survive the rigors of
the camps I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hope is also an incredibly motivating factor which has been proven by the movie Shawshank
Redemption by Frank Darabont. In this movie, Andy was wrongfully imprisoned for murder. In
prison he faced many challenges, such as violence and the many struggles of prison life itself.
Despite all of this, Andy was able to survive because he had hope in his future. In the movie,
Andy spoke to Red about his dream of one day owning a boat and running a hotel down in
Mexico. With this hope, he was able to dig a tunnel through the wall of his cell and escape the
prison in order to chase this dream (Darabont). This hope not only helped him to survive, but to
conquer. It is due to his hope that he was able to survive every day and push for his dream to
become a reality. In this movie, hope has proven to be a great motivator for

Public Safety Is A Discipline Fit For Certain Individuals
Public safety is a discipline fit for certain individuals. The type of work they do is different from
one day to the next. Thinking on your toes, adaptability, having authority, and enthusiasm are just a
few traits that are necessary to be successful. The term public safety refers to the welfare and
protection of the general public. The goal of public safety officials is to provide protection and
prevention of dangers affecting the public like crimes, man made disasters, and natural disasters.
One such person who fits the mold of an emergency manager or public safety official is Mr.
Eugene Holley. Mr. Holley has been involved in many disasters and crisis situations, one event in
particular was Hurricane Sandy. Mr. Eugene Holley... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Emotional stability is the ability to tolerate frustration and stress. Being able to be well adjusted
and have the psychological maturity to handle situations are required to have emotional stability
(Air University, 2014). During Sandy, Mr. Holley had to manage personnel, equipment, facilities,
and aircraft during a potentially volatile storm. Mr. Holley was constantly being asked what if
scenario questions by leadership, and without hesitation he was able to come up with a clear,
concise plan of attack. Enthusiasm is another trait shown by leaders like Mr. Holley, and
enthusiastic leaders are usually seen as active, expressive, and energetic. Optimism is a key to
being enthusiastic, along with being open to change. Generally, being quick and alert are also
required. This type of storm was so severe, we did not have enough facilities to house all of the
equipment on base. Mr. Holley calculated a plan to evacuate all the aircraft without hardened
facilities to another location. His plan was evaluated and executed within the allotted time frame
and with meticulousness. Compulsiveness is precision and control in social interactions. Being
protective of their integrity and reputation while also maintaining social awareness and foresight
are important qualities of this trait. Mr. Holley s precision was required when he handled

Analysis Of The Article Notes On A Politics Of Location...
In Adrienne Rich s article Notes towards a Politics of Location, Rich argues that positionality is a
way of understanding how power and privilege affect perspective. I am in agreement with Rich that
recognizing one s own politics of location is a useful starting point for feminist theory. Rich s main
arguments are that the US education system failed to provide an adequate retelling of world
histories, that white feminismis ignorant of its privileges, and that through the awareness and
inclusion of racial movements can feminist theory grow. I will also compare Rich s article to
Simone de Beauvoir s first chapter, Biological Data from her book The Second Sex, and to Judith
Butlers article Performative Acts and GenderConstitution: An Essay in Phenomenology and
Feminist Theory. Lastly, I will explain how Rich s article is valuable to myself, to the WOMN 2000
Feminist Thought course, and in broader social contexts. Rich effectively argues that white
feminism recreates the power structures feminism seeks to disassemble.
Rich maintains that white feminism begins with the faulty US education system, or for this paper s
purposes, the North American education system. Rich (1984) contends that Any United States
citizen alive today has been saturated with...the warning that any collective restructuring of society
spells the end of personal freedom....But we are not invited to consider the butcheries...of white
supremacism (p. 220). The lack of perspective for North Americans

Chinese Migration
In the year of 2017, Canada will be celebrating 132 years since the completion of the CPR, the
Canadian Pacific Railway. The completion of the transcontinental railway was critical for the
survival of the newly formed country of Canada. It finally unified the country from coast to coast,
economically, and physically linking the wide set of land together. However, even though the
building of the railroad was a dangerous and a long construction, it created employment for
thousands of Chinese workers. The Heritage Minute: Nitro presents the story of an old man telling
his grandchildren about how Chinese immigrants helped build the Canadian Pacific Railwayin the
late 1800 s. A younger self of the old man is shown as he volunteers to set a dangerous... Show more

Many citizens of Canada believed that the Chinese had come to take away their jobs, urging on
great amount of racism. The Prime Minister of Canada at the time, John A. Macdonald, insisted
on the recruitment of the Chinese workers in the interest of reducing costs. The Chinese workers
were paid one fifth to one half of the salaries Canadian workers received. Not only did they
provide cheap labour for their employers, but would also do the jobs Canadians would not. Just
as shown in the Heritage Minute, the Chinese workers were used to blow up rock with the
explosive nitroglycerin. As mentioned in the Heritage Minute, it is said that for every mile of the
railway, one Chinese worker died. Some argue that it is more accurate to say that for every mile of
the railway, four Chinese workers died. However, the Chinese workers brought more to the
production of the CPR than just cheap labour; they brought with them their knowledge and
experience, proving to be skilled

To Further Understand The Text One Must Know The Literary
To further understand the text one must know the literary devices present in The Lottery. In the
short story The Lottery there is a theme of tradition. The citizens all blindly followed the tradition
of the lottery while barely remembering its origin or reasoning. Each year the town came together
to have its lottery. It was said that the lotterywas done each year so that they would have good crops
but many of the citizens had forgotten its purpose.
While waiting for the ceremony to begin the children picked stones and the adults chatted
nervously. Mrs. Tessie Hutchinson, the protagonist, arrived late which foreshadowed her bad luck
to come. Mr. Summers was the man in charge of the lottery. He brought the same black wooden
box each year ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Benefits And Methods Of Effective Classroom Management
Benefits and Methods of Effective Classroom Management According to a survey done in the 2011
2012 school year by the National Center for Education Statistics, only 38% of teachers felt
somewhat prepared to handle classroom management and student discipline in their first year of
teaching. Turnover rates for new teachers in the United States are between 30 and 50 percent within
the first five years according to Cooper and Alvarado (2006) and part of this turnover rate is
attributed to non effective classroom management. What teachers do in the classroom have two
times the effect on student achievement and one of the most important things they do is managing
classrooms. (Marzano, 2003) Classroom management can be defined as the techniques that a
teacher may use to keep control of the classroom, keep disruptions down and keep the students
academically attentive. (Emmer Stough, 2001) Research suggests that effective classroom
management is essential for a successful school year for both teachers and students, and by
implementing certain classroom management techniques it can lead to more student cooperation
and success, and less student behavioral disruptions and teacher burnout. There are many classroom
management techniques that teachers can be used in the classroom that has proven to be effective
for most students. The first most important technique of classroom management is to make sure
that classroom rules and procedures are established on the first day with both

Rebellion In Reading Lolita In Tehran, And Persepolis
In the stories Cairo: my city, my revolution , Reading Lolita in Tehran , and Persepolis 2 a
common theme is rebellion. Each author had their own view on rebellion and its meaning. Here
are the different interpretations of rebellion according to each author... Beginning with Cairo: my
city, my revolution. Rebellion to this author means standing up for her city. Uniting with her
people and fighting for their rights. This is the only story where the characters openly defy their
government. The author shows rebellion by sharing her experience at the mass protests in Cairo.
Her version of rebellion was violent and forceful. They needed to get their point across. From
lines 38 43 the author says We were doing what we Egyptians do best, and what the regime ruling

The Test That Will Be Uses
Selection of test
The test that will be uses is a one way ANOVA test. A one way ANOVA test involved the analysis
of the difference between means of three or more groups and the variance within the groups
(Salkind, 2013). The research scenario is looking at the difference between three groups which are
individuals who cannot to identify hypertension lifestyle factors, can identify some hypertension
lifestyle factors and can identify all hypertension lifestyle factors and their willingness to engage in
self care in addition to the variance within the groups. In addition, in a one way ANOVA there is
one factor or independent variable and within the research scenario there is one factor which is
identifying hypertension lifestyle factors (Salkind, 2013).
Step 2: Level of significance
The research scenario does not pose a high risk to the participants involved, therefore the level of
significance will bet set to 0.05. A level of significance at 0.05 means that the researcher has
accepted 5 cases out of 100 for committing a type I error of rejecting the null when it is true and
accepting the research hypothesis (Salkind, 2013). The remaining 95 cases out of 100 a true null
hypothesis is accepted (Salkind, 2013).
Step 3: Selection of one tailed or two tailed test
An ANOVA test strictly looks at the overall difference between the means of groups and the
variance within groups, ANOVA test does not tell you where the difference lies, therefore there is
no direction (Salkind,

The Effects Of Climate Change On Human Activities
The Fraudulence of Climate Change Humans have been emitting increasingly large amounts of
carbon dioxide into the atmosphere since the industrial revolution. A common misconception
created by the Liberal Left is that this pollution is harmful to the atmosphere and is a direct cause of
climate change. However many studies have disputed this claim, conversely concluding that
pollution caused by human activities are not correlated to climate change in any way. In the theory
of climate change, there is one undisputable fact, human pollution has risen significantly during the
past century. Some scientists may claim that this pollution fuels climate change. A significant flaw
in this theory is that climate change isn t even occurring. This... Show more content on

In fact this exact scenario happened! Up until the Little Ice Age in the 14th and 15th centuries, the
global temperature was rising. This took place before any industrialization, therefore there would
be no human made pollution to cause this warming. This in itself exposes the fallacy of climate
change. Any way you look at it, the climate change theory is flawed. If you accept the pre 1979
readings as true, then you would see an isolated case of global warming which could not have been
caused by human pollution, thus proving climate change is a natural phenomenon. If you only
take into account the post 1979 readings, then you will see that climate change is not even
occurring. The climate change theory has been plagued by scandals. The Left is promoting
climate change in order to push their own political agenda. Since climate change is potentially
devastating to the earth, which everyone wants to preserve, then liberals can use this issue as a
trump card. They are basically saying that in order to avoid extinction, we need to vote for them
above anyone else who doesn t accept climate change as fact. Politicians feed on climate change s
imminent destruction in order to sway moderate voters to the left. They appeal to our primal
instincts of self preservation in order to become elected, and once elected, they can pass unrelated
legislation. In addition to politicians, environmentalists benefit from the theory of climate

Learning Organization
Learning Organization: Answer to Organizational Growth
Introduction
Organizations are established to fulfil various needs of the people. The organizational objectives
could be achieved via the organization s growth oriented mechanism which is inevitable in today s
competitive world. However, the most important factor which needs to be taken into consideration
towards achieving the objective is the people or staff members who directly have impact on the
productivity of the product or services. Negative behaviour such as absenteeism and high turnover
rates will increase the production cost and adversely affect the productivity, thus affecting the
overall organisational growth.
Organizational Behaviour
Organizational behaviour is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Essentially, it s by feedback from their customers. This can be either in a form of messages written
or electronically sent to the hospital s management. This is also the very reason, some organization
have customer s satisfaction program, which the organization organize regularly.
The process of creating the conditions for a learning organization and of challenging long held
assumptions will itself begin to integrate the five disciplines as presented by Peter Senge in his
book The Fifth Discipline .
1. Personal Mastery
Personal mastery, as defined by Peter Senge, is the discipline of personal growth and learning. 1 It
is more than just competence and skills or spiritual growth. It is about creating a desired future and
moving toward it. People with high levels of personal mastery are skilled at creating a personal
vision and accurately assessing their current reality with respect to that vision. The gap between
current reality and personal vision propels them forward. This gap is often referred to as creative
tension. Personal mastery is about generating and sustaining creative tension and living
comfortably with that tension.
There are few characteristics of those individuals that recognized to have high level of Personal
Mastery. Firstly, they have a special sense of purpose or calling. They know how to accurately
assess the current reality and quickly recognize inaccurate assumptions. These individuals also

  • 2. History Of Native Americans James K. Polk offered Mexico 30 million dollars for the land, but Mexico turned it down. Polk then moves troops into a disputed zone between the Rio Grande and the Nueces Riverto. Mexico still upset about Texas, responds by sending troops out and it results in the loss of 12 U.S. soldiers. Polk uses this and gets Congress to sign off on a war and in the course of two years proceeds to defeat Mexico. It ends with the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, signed February 1848, which essentially was the submission of all land north of the Rio Grande to the U.S. The U.S. erased Mexico s debt to them, which was about 3 million dollars and proceeded to give Mexico 15 million dollars for the land now acquired. This land would later be known as Texas (who... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Later on that year, the Mexicans evicted all Americans from their property in the disputed Mesilla Valley. In response, Governor William Lane of New Mexico declared Mesilla Valley as apart of U.S. territory of New Mexico. Mexican President Antonio Santa Anna responded by sending troops into the valley. U.S. President Franklin Pierce sends James Gadsden to negotiate and resolve the issue. In need of money to fund an army to fight rebellions in Mexico, Santa Anna agrees to 45,000 square miles for 15 million dollars. The treaty was later ratified by the U.S. Senate to 29,670 square miles for 10 million dollars. It was signed on June 8, 1854. The two countries were still in tense conflict but seemed to help the other in times of need. While the U.S. was fighting in World War I, Mexicans were encouraged to migrate to help out with the labor shortage. Mexicans also fought in the American Civil War and the U.S. accepted migrants and refugees from Mexico during the Mexican Revolution (1910 1920). Also, times were changing and farming was not a stable enough income so many Mexican migrant workers moved from rural areas to those participating in mining and machinery. Along with the rapid increase of Mexican immigrants into the U.S. for job opportunities and safe haven, were immigrants coming over from many other countries for similar reasons. This higher density in population led to a rise in crime rate. This led to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Thread can also differ in size, tenacity, loop or breaking strength and color fastness (YIL Corporation, n.d./2010). This means thread can be differentiated easily, to satisfy customers needs and wishes. It is also important to emphasize that without differentiation the consumers are in the position to make a trade off in quality by switching to a company from an emerging country, like China, to get much lower prices due to local and undervalued labor costs (Athukorala, 2007). To sum it up, the industrial thread industry within the EEA is very competitive. The only striking factor is the production of a differentiated product which can be explained by the increasing competition from the East. The damage by the cartels can therefore be estimated to be very extensive, so it is now interesting to investigate what agreements were made by the cartel members. 2.2 The Agreements A competitive market is what an economy should strive for. It maximizes total welfare and benefits all parties. The textile industry itself is very competitive, so that it is impossible for individual firms to generate additional economic profits in the long run. Some companies would therefore find it very beneficial to coordinate their actions. For example they could reduce the quantity supplied, so that the market price would rise artificially. Back pain is one of the most common complaints that a doctor will hear from a patient on a visit. Understanding the source of your pain can be very overwhelming and frustrating, especially when a structural explanation cannot be provided. Could your back painbe triggered by stress? For many individuals, stress is not the first thing that comes to mind when trying to establish the cause of their back pain. However, it is quite possible that stress is the primary cause of your back pain. Stress related back pain is real. What is stress related back pain? This is a back pain that is initiated by the psychological or emotional factor stress, or is maintained by it, or both. In simpler terms, when we hold stress in our bodies, it can cause a physical change that leads to back pain. Physician and professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation at New York University, John Sarno MD, who helped to popularize the notion of stress related back pain, contends that the patient s feelings, personality, and unconscious issues are the direct cause of the back pain. It is the second largest state with more than twenty six million people residing. People all over the state live in a variety of environments, cities, suburbs, rural areas, you name it. Of course though, like in everything else, there are always both positive and negative things. However, despite the fact that Texas have very high poverty rates and it has the second highest income inequality, Texas is a very interesting state and it has a lot of things that are worth learning about. I learned some things about Texas politics that I thought were very interesting. These topics include the State Constitution and the legislature. The Texas Constitution and the U.S. Constitution is very similar to each other in terms of structure. Both documents provide framework, and the amendments come from the will of the people. The Texas Constitution was written to govern the the individual state alone so it should be more specific and less flexible to change. On the other hand, the U.S Constitution is more flexible than the Texas Constitution because of the fact that it was designed to be governing a total of fifty states with each individual states differing from others in values, beliefs, attitudes, behaviors, and the states consist of individuals who have similar values. Whenever you are purchasing an existing business with knowledgeable staff and the complexities involved with job are nearly impossible without the current staff, a certain amount of contingencies for various aspects of the individuals are imperative. An extremely effective organizational strategy entails the utilization of a style described as taking a compromising philosophical approach. Enabling others with the ability to contribute freely and developing those individuals to the point whereby working freely equates to achieving consistently superior results. While some leaders feel that in some situations, empowerment is best achieved through a more direct and active approach, other leaders feel most situations call for laissez faire, a dismissive and passive approach (Wong Giessner, 2015). The differences found among the two types of leadership endeavors can have a strikingly profound impact upon the completion of organizational goals and objectives. • 10. Use Of Performance Enhancing Drugs The use of performance enhancing drugs (PEDs) has been exposed for a while in the world of professional sports. Media and sports fans, myself included, look unfavorably on the use of PEDs by professional athletes, the reasons why it s viewed as unfavorable can be attributed to the theory of symbolic interactionism. Even though there is a large stigma against the use of PEDs the testing process has largely remained inefficient and not reliable. Performance enhancing drugs should have a more rigorous screening process because when they are present there is a higher risk of injury, a false sense of talent which leads to unhappy fans, and an influence on younger athletes wanting to be like their idol. Steroid use is ever present in the world of professional sportsand is making its way down to the collegiate and high school levels. A large reason that PED use in professional sports is because the testing process is so poor. Many athletes, including boxing megastar Mike Tyson, have come forward after their career on their use of PED and even other drugs. Mike admitted to using urine other than his own to pass the tests. However the existing testing program may have put too much emphasis on quantity and may have neglected quality. The above mentioned 1.76% of findings is in contrast to widespread belief that at least 10% of all elite athletes are doping(Maennig, 2014, p. 1202). • 14. Figurative Language In The House Of The Scorpion The Mood of the Reader. The famous philosopher Plato once said, You can discover more about a person with an hour of play than in a year of conversation. But dialogue and figurative language can help the reader understand people, and their surroundings. An hour of play can t tell their deepest secrets and their emotions to bring your fate s together. In The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer, the dialogue of her characters and the descriptive language she uses helps show the mood and helps inference more about the novel. Nancy Farmer creates fascinating dialogue to introduce the mood and the characters. In the book the author uses a lot of dialogue to move the events along and introduce feelings to the reader. For instance, when Matt, the main character, and Matt s friend, see a man lying on the ground and say to each other, Can t we can t we help him? faltered Matt. It s too late for that poor soul, grunted the bodyguard. What about the doctor? This quote indicates how kind of a heart Matt has. It introduces guilt to the reader of the man lying there and a little pleasure of knowing that the main character isn t soulless. It helps add feelings and depth of the understanding of the reader when reading this dialogue. Secondly, when Celia, Matt s guardian is leaving for work, says, What s this? the woman said. Plato s idea of civic justice displays a criteria for specialization that holds each individual responsible for producing their own rendition of excellence that leads to a just life, which produces a just city, and ultimately civic justice. Plato describes civic justice as ...doing one s own work provided that it comes to be in a certain way (433b pg.108). The idea for a just city was constructed in the book, Plato Republic, and in that blueprint, the ultimate goal was to have a just city, it should also be noted that before Plato there were numerous theories of Justice. The other side of the coin is the idea of being unjust, Plato describes this as, meddling and exchange between these classes, there is the greatest harm...and the worst thing one could do to the city is cause injustice (434c pg109). The meddling and exchange between classes refers to the idea of not having specialization, consequently this type of behavior is expressed as harmful, because it leaves room for individuals to produce mediocre abilities. The idea that jobs were chosen according to one s own abilities and temperament gives an individual the tools to become the best they possibly can be. If the people were allowed to choose their own jobs, they might discover down the line that it was a mistake allowing room for these types of mistakes could cause the city to no longer be considered just, because not all of the parts would be working toward the common goal. • 16. Apple s First Macintosh Commercial On December 31st of 1983 an eccentric commercial was introduced, challenging other companies and awaking people all over the country. It has been more than 30 years and people are still talking about Apple s first Macintosh commercial. Companies use commercials to show the audience that their products are worth buying like Apple did in its first Macintoshcommercial. By using themes from George Orwells 1984, Apple was able to speak volumes about its product without showing or describing it. Apple visualizes its self as the hero that will save the world and people believed it. Most of us now own an Apple brand. This advertisement is an effective ad because it contains a valuable message that was provided to the viewer by using contrasting visuals and it is about awakening the people and breaking the chains of similarity and loving to be different. Yet, it is ironic because Apple has become one of the most controlling companies in our society. In the complex mysterious 1984 commercial of Apple Mac that definitely needs a second thought before being understood, everything is grey at the beginning. People marching down the tunnel, wearing all grey with their heads shaved and their identity lost. Then we notice an athletic girl with red shorts contrasting the grey atmosphere that was created at the beginning of the advertisement. And we also visualize a man in a big blue screen giving a speech and everyone is listening to him. Then the girl throws a hammer on the big screen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Anyway, as mentioned, GAFCEL s success did not come about as a result of creating additional market but rather of gaining a portion of market previously occupied by Astro. It is not that the profit margins were low for the uncoated products (indeed, these hovered around 60 70%), but the change in the product line would have been against the whole idea of Sealed Air. And the firm had very goodbrand awareness and the American customer was opting for quality and cost effectiveness. In contrast to the American market, the emergence of new competitors on the European market seemed to have the potential of a much more powerful impact. The European customer was not that educated about the product and many regarded packaging supplies as expendable commodities , making the price in this market a key driving determinant of purchase choice. Based on the information in the case, Pepsi could invest US$360 million in exchange for 30% equity of Deltex. So we have to calculate the value of 30% equity of Deltex. First, we calculated the discount factor by using average unlevered beta of US independent bottlers, US 10 year Treasury bond as risk free rate and assuming market risk premium 10%. We came up with 9.83% of WACC. Next, we calculated Deltex free cash flowand terminal value and then converted them into US dollar value. Now with WACC and total cash flow, we had NPV of the company. • 26. The Hardness Of 3 Steel Alloys By varying the carbon content, cooling rates, we will get different microstructure of steels that yield different properties which can be tailored to meet different engineering applications. In this experiment, the hardness of 3 steel alloys with varying Carbon compositions will be compared. With different amounts of Pearlite formed, we can also estimate the hardness of pure pearlite and ferrite. Lastly, the fourth sample will be quenched in water and a Martensitic structure will be observed. We will discuss the attributes that allows Martensite to be one of the hardest steelalloy available. 1. Introduction There are many different forms of steel alloys used today. They are tailored during their processing phases to meet the wide array of engineering applications. Steel alloy in its simplest form is a basic mixture of Iron and Carbon and by varying the carbon content, the rate of cooling and the addition of impurities like Chromium for high corrosion resistance, we are able to derive alloys of different mechanical properties such as stainless steel and tool steels as these 3 factors affect the microstructure of the steel. This can be understood by the simple phase diagram of Iron and Carbon in Figure 1.1. Figure 1.1 The Iron Carbon Phase diagram (David Dye 2014) Steel alloys with less than 0.8 wt% Carbon are termed as Hypo Eutectoid steel. They are the ones widely used in the industry. These two scholars want marriage to be a private matter, so they want to get the State complete out of the marriage business in favor of letting religious or private organizations distribute the distinction of marriage. Moreover, Andrew March of Yale University objected to the standard complaints against polygamy and asserted that the State should additionally recognize plural marriages, using the same arguments as proponents of same sex marriages. In order to show why the expansion of marriage to include same sex couples while restricting marriage to monogamy is in the best interest of society, it is imperative to address the conjugal view and show how this view of marriage is erroneous and how the government cannot endorse recognition of plural marriage as it adversely effects civil society. A hero is just like an ordinary person, but they make a choice to rescue someone, and put their life on the line. For instance, a hero is valiant when they need to be, sacrifices themself for another, and they don t put another in harm s way. A heroic person is undaunted by fearsome situations and uses courage when it is needed. When a hero sees someone in danger, they aren t quite a hero yet. They are just a regular person that springs into action to save someone. At the Primrose Daycare, a car crashed into a fence, almost running over some children. A teacher that was nearby tried to shield the kids, [and] she got the brunt of it, (NBCDFW, Injured in Crash at Frisco Daycare). • 40. Throne Of Blood Movie And Book Comparison Essay Throne of Blood by Akira Kurosawa tells the story of a Japanese soldier who, after hearing a prophecy told to him by an evil spirit, kills the Japanese king to assume his role. The film has been hailed by many as the greatest rendition of Shakespeare s Macbeth of all time, surpassing even direct reenactments of the classic in fidelity. Despite the fact that not a single line of dialog is shared between the two works, Akira Kurosawa has managed to capture the essence of the original play in all its glory. However, that is not say that the Throne of Blood is a complete carbon copy of Macbeth. Although the film possesses the same basic storyline, Kurosawa s rendition of Macbeth has a set of unique qualities that separate it from the original Shakespearean story. The same goes for Roman Polanski s Macbeth, which, although slightly deviating from the original story, can be considered a direct performance of the play. The argument of which play is better... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Throne of Blood takes place in Japan, during a bloody civil war that seems may never stop. Much like Macbeth, the movie tells the story of two men who meet a spirit in the woods who tells them of their future. However, the themes present reflect differently in this rendition. Rather than being centered around betrayal and ambition, most of the film s themes relate to the necessity of loyalty or an honor of sorts, a trait that was much desired by many Japanese soldiers at that time. This new loyalty centered theme can be seen vividly in the many scenes between Washizu and his wife, Asaji. In Macbeth, Lady Macbeth taunts her husband s manhood in order to propel him to commit murder. This action is in line with European thought at that time, where courage was the most desirable of traits. Said themes are made evident in this quote; the scene in Macbeth preceding Duncan s ... Education in the United States represents multiple achievement gaps across ethnicities, income levels, and geography. There are many reasons as to why America ranks low. The curriculum in the United States varies widely from district to district and stretches from state to state, which is one of the major problems in why America compares greatly to that of other countries. The No Child Left Behind Act promotes the idea that competition between schools will increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the education system. At the same time, the rhetoric of NCLB maintains the progressive message of the Common School era (Aske, Connolly, Corman, 107) In essence, it is contradictory. On the one hand the act wants competition so that students will learn more and want to achieve more. However, it also wants all schools to be on the same level or playing field so that they are equal. In order to achieve with competition some will have to be left behind, therefore there is no real way to measure actual achievement with a common school ideal.
