Review Of The Overcoat And The Man Who Lived...
Adaptation plays a large role in The Overcoat and The Man Who lived Underground . Bureaucracy
does not affect Akaky because he is used to constant oppression. Daniels initially is oppressed by his
surroundings until he learns to interact with them beneficially. Daniels, unlike Akaky, mentally
transcends all forms of oppression by believing that he is a God. Daniel s transcendence from social
restrictions allows him to live ignorantly in his oppressive world. Akaky and Daniels both interact
with oppressive environments; however, they only experience subjugation from their environments
when they are aware of the oppression. Ignorance of their circumstances allows the two to avoid
experiencing the oppression unless there is a change in their status quo. At first glance, Akaky appears
to be stuck in the bureaucratic system as a mere slave. The system supposedly oppresses him causing
him to be compliant and introverted. He appears to be oppressed by the system causing him to be
compliant and introverted. However, Akaky enjoys his position as a lowly clerk, and actually prefers
to maintain his status rather than climb the ranks in his office to reduce the assumed oppression of the
bureaucratic system. Thus, the individual has some control over whether or not they are oppressed by
their environment or government. Akaky only experiences the oppression from the complex Russian
bureaucracy when he loses his coat. He finds the need to interact with the different levels of the

Symbolism In The Raven
Raven or Ghost? Would it be relieving to have a reminder of your late loved one(s) for every second
of every day? Or would it be rather aggravating; having to commemorate that moment over and over
again? The Raven, written by Edgar Allan Poe is a very prominent gothic literature piece. Having to
deal with his long lost love, the speaker is taunted by this raven who mysteriously appeared one dark
and dreary night outside his chamber window. The speaker is forewarned of his long lost love, Lenore,
by the raven showing up. A lot of people now a days refer back to this piece to help them understand
loss, and heartbreak. Many writers use birds as symbols of hope, freedom, and light, but Poe on the
other hand, uses the raven as a reminder or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He opened the door, deep into that darkness peering, long [he] stood there wondering, fearing...and the
only word there spoken was the whispered word, Lenore? (25,28). Having a little bit of curiosity, and
relief, he presumes to think the tapping was his dear Lenore, although, he only saw darkness. In
contrast to that, it s kind of like when people are scared or they are in the dark and they need comfort,
so they think about their happy place to feel safe; the speaker was thinking about his happy place,
Lenore. Furthermore, as the speaker was opening the door, the poem refers to him as curious and
scared. Sort of a sick gut feeling, it has him thinking, what if Lenore was really here? There is a lot of
emotion going on in this scene. For example, have you ever had to give a speech or talk in front of a
humongous audience? That is what he was feeling at the moment. Before the raven even appears, it
already has him thinking about Lenore and if she s really back. After the speaker hears the tapping
once more, he realizes it s coming from the window. He opens the window and already the, ebony bird

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is the federal agency charged with the
enforcement of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964,1 the Americans with Disabilities Act,2 and
the Age Discrimination in Employment Act.3 Five commissioners appointed by the President and
confirmed by the Senate govern the EEOC. Each commissioner serves a five year term, and no more
than three commissioners can be from the same political party.4 The President also appoints a General
Counsel of the Commission with the advice and consent of the Senate. The General Counsel serves a
term of four years and is charged with conducting litigation brought by the EEOC.5 The EEOC also is
charged with promulgating regulations to carry out the provisions of Title VII.6 The EEOC regulations
are published in Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations. Additionally, the EEOC issues guidelines
to assist in interpreting Title VII. The U.S. Supreme Court has noted that EEOC Guidelines are not
administrative regulations promulgated pursuant to formal procedures established by Congress. But ...,

Importance Of Propaganda In Journalism
Propaganda Propaganda regards truth and reality. It is deceptive, purposely less than honest, biased,
devoid of a sense of fairness. It attempts to manipulate someone s ideas, actions and attitudes.
Propaganda can be used in journalism by manipulating the story to be exaggerated or simply false. A
journalist or public relations specialist could use a false or photo shopped image in a
newspaper/webpage to sway their audience into thinking the subject of their story is true and not to
their audiences knowledge it has been manipulated.
Semantics Semantics studies how words came to be and what they mean. In a journalistic setting when
covering a story, be sure of what you are actually portraying and what you re trying to say. There are
clear distinctions between what reporting, inferences, and judgements are.
Communitarianism Communitarianism has emphasis on society and the larger majority of a group. In
journalism or public relations and individual would look at what brings people together. For example
(fiction), covering a story about how MSU s Homecoming parade brought helping hands together as
participants prepared to rain proof their floats last minute, which made for a successful homecoming
parade. A non Communitarianism could have reported how the rain ruined the parade and many
townspeople were outraged by the cities/schools decision to cancel the parade.
Libertarianism Libertarianism has emphasis on the individual. In public relations, by having a

Diversity In Medicine
In recent years, there has been a predicted shortage of physicians in the United States of America by
2025, numbering between 46,000 and 90,000 physicians for a growing United States population 1.
However, the more pressing issue will be an even bigger shortage of minority physicians. Minorities
are underrepresented in medical facilities as students and faculty. However, one minority especially
has been on the decline since 1978. African American males in the medical field have been on a steady
downward trend. In 1978, 1,410 African American males applied to medical school, compared to
2014, when 1,337 African American males applied to medical school 2. This downward trend is
concerning to many persons both inside and out of the medical field. A recent article published by the

all races, genders, and ethnicities, and will provide an increase in the quality of healthcare for the
United States population. A new generation of minority physicians is a step towards eliminating health
inequalities for the rapidly changing United States population 4. Consequently, more minority
physicians will lead to an increase in racial minority participation in clinical research. According to
the National Cancer Institute, more white people participate in their studies, despite the higher
mortality rate of African Americans due to cancer 5. By solving the issue of diversity in medicine,

Benefits Of Diversity And Inclusiveness
Objective To provide you with an opportunity to value and respect diversity and inclusiveness across
all areas of work 1. What are some of the benefits of diversity in the workplace? Give at least five
examples.
2. How can you respect diversity in all areas of work? Give at least three examples.
3 What does the behaviour of someone who respect inclusiveness look like?
4 Give three examples of inclusive principles.
1 Ans: The benefits of diversity in the workplace are ;
a) High productivity: In the workplace there are numerous people belonging to different caste, culture
,sex ,class etc. and each individual has the capacity to offer different views and ideas to a particular
problem or challenge. Thus it increases employee morale and ... Show more content on

e) Equal opportunities: When the workforce comprises of a diverse group then the workplace becomes
a place where every individual is valued and appreciated. Understanding , appreciating and valuing all
staffs members different sets of skills and abilities and offering fair ,courtesy and equal opportunities
to all individuals becomes the prime motive of the company.
2 Ans: We can respect diversity in all areas of work by recognising the positive value of a diverse
community of staff, affiliates and students. The diverse workforce comprises of an individual
belonging to different background , gender , lifestyles , sexuality, socio economic status , family
composition , personal beliefs and values. Therefore respecting diversity is about trust ,honesty ,
acknowledgement, and respect for one another personal beliefs and values.
For example;
1) Children and families may suffer if their identity, culture and language are ignored. In a classroom
if the black are ignored and the white are respected then this results in clashes among the black society
and white society. So the teacher must maintain equality among all the students in the class and give
them the opportunity to reflect in the society.
2) In some of the Asian country, especially in a patriarchal family system

Everything That Rises Must Converge Change
In the 20th century there were drastic changes in the world. Because of World I, II, and slavery being
outlawed, there were many changes that happened during that time. Flannery O Connor, Katherine
Anner Porter, and Bernard Malamud point out the obvious social changes in the stories: Everything
that Rises Must Converge, Rope, and The Magic Barrel. O Connor shows the social change from the
role of African Americans before and after the culture change, Porter shows the social change of men
and women after World War I and II, and Malamud shows the social change of arranged marriage and
true love. First of all, in the story Everything that Rises Must Converge by Flannery O Connor there is
a change between the role of African Americans. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However instead of a racial change there is a change in the role of genders. In this story it shows the
imperfect relationship between a man and woman. Throughout the whole story the woman is
continually demanding her husband to do things she wants him to do. In the story, the husband forgets
to buy her coffee but he buys a rope. When he is trying to find a place for the rope, he puts it in
different locations while she rejects each place. He picked up the rope and started to put it on the top
shelf. She would not have it on the top shelf, the jars and tins belonged there... She is taking control
over her husband and not allowing him to put the rope anywhere in her house because she does not
approve of the rope being in her house. In the story the woman obviously has control over her
husband. Later in the story she made him go back to the store to buy her coffee. Well, he was merely
going to get her coffee. A four mile walk for two pounds of coffee was ridiculous, but he was perfectly
willing to do it. He was willing to walk four miles for coffee because he was willing to please his

Zen Buddhism Similarities
Often times when you think of the word Zen the Zen Japanese gardens, mediation, and or happiness
might come to mind. The essence of Zen is attempting to understand the meaning of life directly,
without being misled by logical thought or language. (BBC) Zen Buddhism comes from the Mahayana
branch of Buddhism. While it shares some underlining similarities between the two major schools in
Buddhism that are Mahayana and Theravada, as in reaching Nirvana as the ultimate goal, it has
different history and teachings as well as its own two branches, Soto Zen and Rinzai Zen.
Zen Buddhism or known as Ch an originated from Indian Mahayana Buddhism with Taoism infused
into it, where is has traveled to Korea and Japan. When searching for the history and who started or
transferred Zen Buddhism, I got a lot of different answers, time periods, and events. According to
BBC, Zen Buddhism started out in India and was brought to China in the sixth century by an Indian
monk named Bodhidharma. While Britannica states that Zen Buddhism was in ... Show more content

Buddha is seen as the perfect being that has reached enlightenment. While the way to reach
enlightenment in Zen is by mediating the two schools of Zen Buddhism have slightly different views
on how and when you reach it. In Theravada Buddhism the path is much stricter saying that only
monks and nuns can achieve it compared to Mahayana where everyone has the chance to become

The ERS predicts that between 2000 and 2020, per capita spending could rise by 18 percent at full
service restaurants, versus about 6 percent for fast food. The ERS suggests that, while consumers
value convenience, there is a trend toward meals with more variety and amenities traditionally
associated with full service restaurants.
In considering options for consumers to have full service restaurant comforts without having to shop,
cook, and then clean up after meal preparation, use of personal chef services stands out. The trend
toward spending on full service restaurants provides a growing opportunity for a full service meal
provided by a professional in the convenience of the home. According to an Entrepreneur Magazine
article, the personal chef business is among the fastest growing in the country and one of the top six
home businesses to start in 2004. In the referenced article by Paul and Sarah Edwards, they assert that
today s 24/7 lifestyle leads to busy people who love to have meals fixed for them in their own homes.

Globalization
Globalization is actually an ongoing process of interconnectedness between nations, multinational
corporations (MNCs), international non governmental organizations (INGOs), and individuals.
Globalization has led to a growing gap between those who have access and opportunities by which to
thrive and those who do not. There are now 793 billionaires (as of 2009) representing an essentially
unimaginable amount of wealth. At the same time, there are millions of workers laboring in conditions
we would likely consider inhumane, and doing so for starvation level wages. And still, there are those
who do not even have access to jobs whose conditions are even worse. Globalization can benefit some
but leaves other nation further and further behind.
Inequalities
It can be argued that the trend for global inequality is that The rich get richer, the poor get poorer.
This can be seen in two graphs, the first shows that the high income nations have risen dramatically
compared to the middle and low income nation which only increasing slightly over the years. This
shows that the growth of population in low income countries is much higher that than the high income
countries therefore the widening gap even more.

Ceremony Of Loss Essay
When the first ceremony took place, a couple was given a male newchild named Caleb as a
replacement child. To begin with, according to The Giver, the first Caleb, who was 4 years old,
wandered away unnoticed, and had fallen into a river, and had died. As a result, the Ceremony of Loss
occurred, which is murmuring the name throughout the whole day, less often, quieter, so that the child
is forgotten. To add on, this incident shows that the community tried to eliminate any dangerous
situations because perhaps the death of the first Caleb could cause problems by frightening the rest of
the community and in an attempt to to prevent this, they make sure the child who died, in this case, is
forgotten. The text, The Giver, says, Loss of a child ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and as stated by The Giver, so that the little Four seemed to fade away gradually from everyone s
consciousness. This explains that slowly, they erased a child from their minds because they didn t
want to face the fact that you can t protect everyone from everything and that not everything will stay
the same forever. They marked the new Caleb s replacement by performing another ceremony known
as the Murmur of Replacement. This was directly the opposite of the Ceremony of Loss, and instead
of the name slowly disappearing, it gradually became imprinted into everyone s minds once more. The
community murmured it quietly and slowly, and progressively, their voices became louder and

Puritan Argumentative Essay
The Puritan settler s beliefs in the relationship between individuals, God, and the community during
the seventeenth century in New England created a sense of us (the Puritans) vs. them (the Native
Americans and non Puritan colonists), who hindered the idea of a city upon a hill, the perfect Christian
community. From John Winthrop s sermon warning the first settlers of New England about the
retributions God would bring to the community if individuals broke there covenant with God
(Winthrop 17 20). To the way, those same beliefs, brought over by the first Puritan settlers, affected
the future interactions Puritans would have with Native Americans during the times of declension, and

Casper and Richard O. Davies Individuals could do nothing about their predestination: God s grace
alone, not good deeds, determined their fates (Casper and Davies, 17). This relationship between God
and the individual would affect the way Puritan colonists interpreted individual success as a way of
knowing their fate, which separated the rich from the poor, who would not be saved (Winthrop, 18).
This idea of individualism would help create the mentality of us vs them, as seen in Mary Rowlandson
s narrative where she views the behavior of the Native Americans as savagery and describes them as
heathens as lesser beings than herself (Rowlandson, 19). The idea of individualism allows the Puritan
colonists to view the Native American behaviors as uncivilized compared to their own, which then
they use to interpret their behaviors as favorable to God and the behavior of the Native Americans as
demonized or against God. Which then begins to create a view of Native Americans as enemies that
hinder the idea of a city upon a hill or a barrier in creating the perfect Christian community. Which in
turn creates the conflicts between the colonists and the Native Americans as they attempt to convert
them into Christianity as seen with the praying Indians in Rowlandson s narrative

Alfred Hitchcock Vertigo Opening Scene
Study the opening credits and visuals of vertigo. How does the opening convey the film?
In the essay I will be exploring how the opening credit scene of the film vertigo (Hitchcock 1958)
conveys the film. I will be analysing the credit scene through the use of visuals, sound. Editing colours
and symbols. In addition to this I will be exploring relevant theories. Multiple theories can be applied
to the credit scene such as Roland Barthes semiotics theory and Stuarts halls representations theory it
can also be argued that jean baudrillard s theory of hyper reality could be applicable to the credit
scene.

femininity. Also to complement this the background colour is very DE saturated and dark this makes

Lady Philosophy In Boethius s The Consolation Of Philosophy
The Consolation of Philosophy Philosophy cannot give complete consolation, therefore, Lady
Philosophy s main aim is to restore Boethius s relationship with God, who can provide true
consolation. While philosophy provides a path for humans to contemplate how the world works, it
ultimately provides Boethius consolation indirectly by pointing to Christianity. In The Consolation of
Philosophy, Boethius defines a human as, A rational and mortal creature however, Lady Philosophy
implies he is missing something and declares, Now I know the other, in fact the greatest, cause of your
disease: you no longer know what you are. She believes that Boethius is in so much distress not
primarily because of the difficult situation he s facing in prison, but because he has forgotten in part
what it means to be human, A rational and mortal creature created by good and loving God in His
image. After her diagnosis, Lady Philosophy begins to cure Boethius through reason and dialogue, but
ultimately strives to restore his relationship with God as the root of his dilemma comes from a lack of
faith in God. Similar to a doctor referring a patient to a specialist, Lady Philosophy shows Boethius
that he needs to turn to God in his despair in order to receive full consolation. As such, Lady
Philosophy s remedy consists of her using reason and philosophy to point out that Boethius the
answers to the questions he has is derived from an understanding of God. In Book 3, Lady Philosophy
asks, What do you think we should do when we are looking for the foundation of the highest Good? to
which Boethius replies, We should call upon the Father of all things. If we leave this out, we can t
make a proper beginning of our work. Here marks the point, in the middle of the novel, where
Boethius begins to turn to God for him in his dire situation. At this point, he is beginning to
understand that God is source of all good and blessedness, rather than abiding in material goods and
earthly views of happiness such as fame and wealth. For the rest of the book, God comes up more
frequently in their dialogue and the conversation shifts to a more faith based discussion. The
Consolation of Philosophy seems to end abruptly, leaving the reader to

Vaclav Havel s The Power Of The Powerless
The dictatorships of Eastern Europe significantly contrasted the classical dictatorship. In Vaclav Havel
s The Power of the Powerless, the idea of the post totalitarian system is used to distinguish the
dictatorships of Eastern Europe from classical dictatorships on the bases of: its verified historical
roots, lack of social distinction of the ruling, open wielding of power, and reliance on ideology . The
post totalitarian system fell victim to the use of ideology as a power source founded in lies and
modifications of reality. The threat truth posed to the post totalitarian system highlighted its fragile
dependency on ideology as a source of manipulative power and falsehoods that allowed mankind to
cope with its departure from humanity. Ideology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Havel explains that the primary excusatory function of ideology was to provide people with the
illusion that the system was in harmony with human order and the order of the universe . It is because
of this that the post totalitarian system was so deeply rooted in lies. It had to falsify the past, the
present and the future to give the illusion that its goals were aligned with those of mankind, although
its true goals were in the name of self service. Individuals may not have necessarily believed these
lies, but they behaved as if they did. This means they had to live within a lie and accept their place in
it. Doing this confirmed the system thereby giving it more power. Those who accepted the ideological
excuses of the system too constituted its power by becoming an active component of that power. This
resulted in the system s power gradually relating more to ideology than to reality, thereby becoming
entirely dependent on deceptions. The structure of the system was sustained and held together through
the power created from the lies and excuses provided by ideology. It supplied rules and regulations for
its subordinates and integrated communication by guaranteeing the inner coherence of the power
structure . Here it can be seen that the presence of truth, would have been an undoing element to the

High-Stakes Testing, the Standardized Classroom, and the...
The world s greatest problems do not result from people being unable to read and write. They result
from people in the world from different cultures, races, religions, and nations being unable to get
along and to work together to solve the world s problems. These statements by James A. Banks have
made a profound impact on my view towards multicultural education and the nation s current trend of
standardization and high stakes testing. Scholarly research shows that the emphasis placed on testing
and standards, mandated by the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act, is causing teachers to focus
entirely on basic skills in reading, writing, and math (Banks Banks, 2010). This focus on basic skills is

Thus, when AYP is based on academic achievement levels, the subgroup rules create negative
unintended consequences for the students they were designed to help, by disproportionately subjecting
racially diverse schools to sanctions under NCLB. This consequence also threatens to increase the
growing dropout and push out rates for students in these sub groups (Darling Hammond, 2007).
This paradox is not just affecting low income and minority students, but also students in non minority
groups as well. When there is no time for focus on skills that students need to participate in social
change, these students will not learn to question practices within society or to work with other students
from all different groups and backgrounds in order to effect change. Classes in schools which may
contribute to multicultural education, such as social studies and foreign language, are being cut
completely in order to spend more time on reading and math (Au, 2009). According to Au (2009),
since multi cultural anti racist perspectives and content are not deemed legitimate by the high stakes
tests and classroom standards, the end result is that multicultural, anti racist content and perspectives
and not being included in the instruction time or curriculum. This reinforces the notion for white
students that they are the dominant group in society, and works against the goals of multicultural
education.

Impact Of The Human Rights Act 1998 On Clinical
Impact of the Human Rights Act 1998 on clinical (medical) negligence
Tort law is a considerably old branch of English law, covering a wide range of areas within such as
defamation, nuisance, trespass and, most importantly, negligence. The latter set out the modern
concept of negligence by means of Donoghue v Stevenson [1932] AC 562. Furthermore, in twentieth
century a number of fundamental elements were established in negligence, elevating its significance
above all other areas of tort law. Most problematic and difficult subgroup of negligence is clinical

complications as it has to comply with the new Act. The influence of the HRA is yet to be fully

compares various types of negligence, liability of public authorities and remedies before and after the

The main difference between the HRA and the ECHR is that the former is the domestic legislation and

Mechanism of Melatonin Stimulation of Growth Hormone...
Mechanism of melatonin stimulation of growth hormone release via somatostatin inhibition
Joseph Angelo Israel Peguit

Natural Sciences and Mathematics Division
Abstract
Secretion of growth hormone is affected by two primary hormones: Growth hormone releasing
hormone and somatostatin. The former is the primary stimulant to promote growth hormone secretion
while the latter is the primary inhibitor that prevents growth hormone secretion. Many studies have
already shown that melatonin stimulates secretion of growth hormone via somatostatin inhibition but
its mechanisms remain unknown. I hypothesized that melatonin inhibits somatostatin at transcription
level through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that any regulation of melatonin on other hormones happen mostly in the SCN in the
hypothalamus. The receptors of melatonin belong to the Gi/Go type of the superfamily of G Protein
Coupled Receptors (GPCR)[8]. The G proteins are coupled to a number of effector systems
influencing the intracellular signalling. They are designated as Gi/Go type because of their
characteristic being inhibited by the presence of pertussis toxin[8].
Transduction Pathway
The effector systems coupled to the melatonin receptors include the Adenylate cyclase, phospholipase
C, L type calcium channels, and ATP sensitive K+ ion channels[8,6,33].
The inhibition of calcium influx via the L type calcium channels may be mediated by direct
inactivation by the G protein[6] and/or through induced hyperpolarization by activation of ATP
sensitive K+ channel[6]. Activation of the G proteins results to activation of ATP sensitive K+
channels. The active transport of K+ ion intracellularly results to hyperpolarization of the membrane.
The hyperpolarization inactivates the voltage sensitive L type Ca2+ channels which only opens during
membrane depolarization[8,6].
Melatonin receptor activation inhibits activity of Phospholipase C (PLC)[8]. PLC functions to catalyze
hydrolysis of phosphatidyl inositol (4,5) bisphosphate to Inositol triphosphate (IP3) and Diacyglycerol
(DAG). Inositol

Injuries And Injuries Of Acl Injuries
In this paper I will be researching ACL injuries in sports. Along with what causes these injuries to
happen, how they can be prevent and if the footwear we use as athletes can make these injuries more
or less likely to happen to us. I will also be looking closely into the reoccurring ACL injury in which
Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls has been suffering from for the past few years.
An ACL is the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) which is a ligament in the knee and is an essential
internal stabilizer of the knee joint and helps in restraining hyperextension. It is injured when it s when
the biomechanics of this ligaments limits are exceeded or over stretched, often with a hyperextended
mechanic. It was thought that this occurred in sports where there was a lot of contact and when other
structures were often involved. In the present day, the ACL injury seems to be more of a contactless
injury such as; a dismount from a layup in basketball. Both forms of the injury occur more frequently
in athletes than in the general population. They are also more established in alpine skiing, Association
football, American football, Australian Rules football, basketball, rugby, professional wrestling,
martial arts, and artistic gymnastics. It is also three times more likely to happen in males then it is in
male athletes. The consequences of the injury are down to how much of the knee stability is affected
and if injuries to other structures are badly damaged. This all varies from each and

In humans, the ileum is around 2 to 4 m long, and it stretches from the jejunum to the cecum.
Description:
The small intestine is the part of the gastrointestinal tract that lies between the stomach and the large
intestine. This is the place where maximum digestion and absorption of food takes place. The small
intestine is divided into three regions the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum. When undigested food
enters the small intestine, various juices and enzymes act upon it to digest it. Once the food is digested
properly, it is ready for absorption. The walls of the small intestine are folded many times over to
increase the surface area of the small intestine, which helps to maximize the absorption of nutrients.

Examples Of Dystopia In The Hunger Games
The chosen utopia is a political utopia that described in the novel The Hunger Games written by the
American author Suzanne Collins. Utopia means a nowhere land , and its concept alludes to some
imaginary paradisiacal places where human beings are living under a desired environment. This kind
of ideal society with everything perfect can be found in Edward Bellamy s Looking Backward and
William Morris s News from Nowhere . Dystopia, on the other hand, is a world in which nothing is
perfect such as 1984 by George Orwell and We by Yevgeny Zamyatin. The concept of political utopia
was originally developed by Richard Saage. According to him, political utopia provides an ideal
commonwealth that characterised by its distinctive criticism of reality, its rational and comprehensible
design, which is universally applicable. In this essay, I will posit the political utopia in The Hunger
Games as a dystopia and elaborate the universally applicable utopia or dystopia is non existent and
impossible because of the diversity of human beings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Advertisement of products in the same niche both aim to accomplish similar goals. Two products of

that have commercials that convince you to buy their product. The Corona Extra and Budweiser ads
are both very appealing to customers. The Corona Extra ad, Flight Find your Beach , is about a man

The ads show people that are enjoying their life and finding satisfaction with the products. For the
Corona Extra ad, the creator is Cramer Krasselt. The creator of the Budweiser commercial is Tim

and Corona takes people to their beaches, no matter where they may be. The main idea is supported
because the people in the ad seem at peace when they have their Coronas. Their faces are not shown,
and this creates an idea that they are enjoying life in a mysterious way. The main focus of the ad is on
what people are doing they are enjoying drinks in paradise. The main idea of the Budweiser
commercial is to melt the heart of the audience by using a young puppy and a horse to advertise the

Locker Searches Research Paper

our nation. I believe parents, teachers and students are in agreement that a school needs to be a safe
place where students can focus on school work and socialize without the fear of being bullied or being
harassed. However, there is some disagreement as to the best policies for making a school safe.
Locker searches are one tool schools have to ensure that students are following school policies, but
they are not without drawbacks.

Pursuing A Career In School Psychology
The authors begin chapter three by explaining that there are commonly discrepancies among raters
and their ratings of child behavior. Moreover, these differences stem from the different perceptions of
the parents, teachers, children, and even the school psychologist. The differences can also be attributed
to the differences in the child s behavior across contexts. This information is important to
acknowledge and understand for many reasons. We are different. What a parent might constitute as a
poor behavior, might be seen as an acceptable behavior by the teacher. It all goes back to culture and
what each person truly believes to be important and/or meaningful. This also made me think of other
courses that we have taken where we were required to observe a child, as well as operationally define
a target behavior. The operational definition of the behavior helps to ensure that anyone can observe
the same behavior without confusion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Why Are Red Wolves Endangered
Red Wolves have no natural predators. The Red Wolves have been endangered since the 1960s, which
has affected history and the environment ( Red Wolves History Red Wolves Conservation Center). The
red wolf s main threat is breeding with the eastern coyotes, but can helped by having specialists set up
camp to breed red wolves together. The Red Wolves, which are also known as the Canis Rufus, are the
world s most endangered canid (Red Wolf Habitat). The length of a red wolf is four to five feet, weigh
from fifty to eighty pounds, and a height of about twenty six inches. Their fur is black and brown on
the top of their body and yam (brown, orange, red) on the stomach area. These beautiful creatures live
in swamps, forests, and coastal prairies from Southeastern Texas to Central Pennsylvania. Canis Rufus

Red Wolves are originally from Southeastern USA. Because of habitat loss and the control predator

The Fifth Season Sparknotes
Okay, so this is how this is going to work... The deep book review will be split into different sections,
one where I will dump a bunch of information about the storyline on the reader, another where I will
rant about what makes this book deep but not good, and, finally, another about the author. The
footnotes will be my way of interjecting Laszlo esque commentary on what would normally be a more
formal piece of writing without drastically altering the formality of the review.
Throughout the book, The Fifth Season changes from Syenite to Damaya to, finally, a character
referred to as you (as you might expect, all chapters written from you s perspective are written in
second person). As the book moves on, switching from character to character, similarities between
Syenite and Damaya start to appear, until, chapter seventeen, when it is revealed Damaya is just a
young Syenite. Towards the end, Syenite is revealed to be you (your name is Essun). So all along,

The Fifth Season is definitely interesting, however, I sort of enjoyed reading it because of its
complexity, and, as it is part of a series, it has a sequel. This sequel gives you a glimpse into what is

Earth lost his favorite child, so, in an attempt to appease Father Earth, some of the stone eaters decided

to catch the moon. Pure awesomeness aside, I feel like I liked it better when things were confusing.
The second book, The Obelisk Gate, doesn t contain as many of the storyline scrambling mind

Introduction
Cats are among the earliest companions of men and have been kept as pets in several homesteads for
decades. The health of the cat is very important, and thus, the owner needs to make sure that the pet is
always in good vigor. Attainment of good heath transpires with the use of foods that have the right
ingredients needed by the cats. Mainly, a majority of the food that cats consume is a composition of
foodstuffs that their owners offer. However, some of the foodstuffs that individuals consume are not
recommended for the pet as they affect their health. Vegans and vegetarians are individuals, who do
not consume a number of animal products such as meat, milk, and in some instances, eggs.
Fundamentally, there is a wide range of vegan food that manufactures provide in the market for
various pets. It is vital that the individuals purchase vegan food manufactured by approved vendors
because a wrong choice in food leads to serious complications on the health of the

The Arizona Department Of Corrections Rating System
For this assignment I will referencing the Arizona Department of Corrections rating system, and
touching on the current evaluation process and discussing options to improve on the process. I work in
the department of corrections and the evaluation system currently implemented is the managing,
accountability, and performance (MAP). This system is far from perfect, and very susceptible to
subjective evaluations. Most employees do not agree with the evaluations they receive and for the
most part this is due to the supervisors not putting in the required effort to properly evaluate each
employee. It is not uncommon for a supervisor to rate all of their subordinates exactly the same,
regardless if one employee excels and the other shows little to no interest. Supervisors often justify
their vanilla evaluations by stating that the evaluations do not have any effect on your employment,
since pay raises are not based from the appraisal. As you can imagine this method does little to raise
the moral of the motivated hard working staff, and in my opinion needs to be revamped. I would
prefer an evaluation based more on objective performance and behavioral observations. An objective
performance rating is based on the measuring of actual results from employees. Although the
Department of Corrections does not produce a product, or make sales that can be tracked, they are
responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment to protect the public, fellow staff, and the
inmates. These

Three to One Doctor Sharing
Coronation, Castor and Consort are small towns in rural Alberta. All three lie along highway 12,
approximately half an hour from each other. These small towns, although quite distant from each other
share one very important thing a doctor on call. This is becoming a more common trend in rural areas
with a decline in health care physicians willing to work in such a secluded area far from amenities.
This means that some days a physician is available in one town for as little as an hour or simply not
present in the hospital at all. Health care is poor to limited for these rural areas, since there are far
more people seeking medical attention than can be properly assisted in a reasonable amount of time.
The availability of medical staff is crucial to the quality of health care provided in a hospital (NRHA).
There is generally a lack of medical staff including physicians and nurses in rural hospitals. Even the
shortage of a single physician is extremely likely to have widespread impacts in a rural community
(NAC 2008).
In order for these rural communities to maintain a positive, functioning health care system, more
physicians and nurses need to be recruited to work in the rural setting. This means encouraging more
health care physicians and staff to choose rural settings to work (NRHA 2003). With all of the definite
downfalls of a rural community, there are many reasons rural communities are struggling to maintain
adequate staff at hospitals. Students in the medical

Purpose of the study was to determine the use of both aluminum containing and non aluminum
containing deodorant on axillary skin toxicity during external beam radiotherapy. It has been
suggested that increased radiation toxicity include the deposition of aluminum salts that might affect
surface radiation dose, a bolus effect from the aluminum on the skin and chemical irritation. In the
past women have been advised not to wear deodorant, it has been the standard of practice during the
post operative radiation therapy, however many women feel uncomfortable with this. The study used
objective measurements of skin reactions, symptom reports, sweating and a validated quality of life
questionnaire. The ipsilateral axilla of the breast or chest wall being treated was assessed every week
by using the Radiation Therapy Oncology group (RTOG) acute skin toxicity scale. Quality of life was
evaluated during the first and the last week of treatment. One month after their final radiation therapy
treatment, phone call was made to patients at home and asked to complete the questionnaire. The
result is that the study found no evidence that the use of either aluminum containing or non aluminum
containing deodorant effected axillary skin reaction.

Basics Journalism
The term journalism has taken on many definitions in the past two decades. It is no longer about
television, print and radio content, but the digitalization of content. Today s journalists are expected to
go beyond traditional journalistic practices. They need to know how to be experts in digital reporting
and publishing. By providing tips on how to organize data digitally, build websites, build an audience,
create video, audio and photographed content, editing and publishing this content, Briggs covers all
areas of digital journalism. Briggs book, consisting of 11 chapters, is divided into three sections
including basics, multimedia storytelling and editing/decision making in journalism.
UNIT 1: BASICS OF JOURNALISM
News companies started using digital technologies nearly 20 years ago. This required professionals in
the industry to change their traditional practices and evolve to the new way of producing content. This
change has not been immediate, but according to Briggs, online technologies allow us to gather
information better, communicate better and create better journalism.
All journalists should have a basic understanding of web design including HTML, CSS and XML
coding. Those who know learn how do this have control over how information is displayed and

The need to explain the sensory pleasure or to question it as it relates to happiness points to some of
the teachings of Plato. Plato was not a believer in empiricism, and one of his main works, The
Allegory of the Cave, demonstrates how he believed that ones perception is their reality. In this
writing, Plato uses prisoners to represent the human race; the cave to represent the world as
experienced through our senses; This raises the age old question of how goodness and happiness
merge and direct human activity. Plato s rationalist ideas conflicted with some of Aristotle s
ideologies, but Plato s influence was the impetus for Aristotle s philosophy. Aristotle s assertions about
ethics quickly became the foundation that molded other philosophers that emerged throughout the
centuries. They have also played out in the media, on the silver screen, and in publications. When
evaluating the movie, All The President s Men, we are able to see how the struggle with media ethics
parallels Aristotelian ideologies as expressed in Nichomachean Ethics. The movie is a conglomeration
of ethics, morals, emotions, vices and virtues. All The President s Men presents the classic
circumstances for the proper implementation of prudent ethical behavior. The main characters are
journalists at the Washington Post who have the daunting task of investigating a break in that
continues to lean toward governmental corruption. Aristotle s believed that every man life was

Indirect Taxes
Discuss Whether Indirect Taxes on Petrol and Diesel Fuel in the UK should be reduced
The main reason that a government imposes a taxes on fossil fuels is to try and correct for the negative
externality (pollution) which is produced when they are consumed. Without the tax there would be a
market failure as drivers would be over consuming petrol as they are not being charged for the damage
to the environment. In order to order to answer this essay as to whether the tax should be reduced, I
am going to focus on 3 aspects; those that lose from a reduction, those that gain from a reduction and
finally at what level the overall price for petrol was BEFORE the tax reduction. In my conclusion I
will show that this is key to deciding whether the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would explain why this argument can dominate headlines for a government during a recession, as
a small increase in disposable income can have a big affect on utlity (happiness) for consumers/voters.
An extension of this is that the poor would benefit especially from this tax decrease, as indirect taxes
are generally regressive, which means that those on lowest incomes have to pay more (as a % of their
total income) than higher earners. This is one of the problems with an indirect tax, and this problem
would be reduced if the tax was reduced. Rich drivers on the other hand maybe happy to pay the
higher tax, as they can afford it and it reduces the number of other drivers on the road therefore
reducing their congestion.
Haulage companies, firms working in complimentary industries (car manufacturers) and any firm
using vehicles to transport their goods or staff would also benefit from a tax decrease. Haulage firms
and those consuming petrol would benefit in exactly the same way as consumers, however they would
see their profit margins rise as their costs went down. This could have additional benefits to an
economy if companies used this profit to invest in expanding their business, employing extra staff and
increasing tax revenue to the government (through corporate tax). If this was more than the loss of
revenue from the decrease in tax, then the government might also gain from the tax reduction (this
though is unlikely as it

Analysis Of Dante s Inferno
Dante s Divine Comedy is a work that has lasted many generations, and has greatly contributed to
even our own visualization of the afterlife. It is separated into three parts with the most striking
section of the work being the Inferno. In Inferno, the character Dante travels through hell, and
identifies the sins and consequent punishment of those who are damned. However, Inferno is not a
simple report of an event, but also includes several literary devices that convey grander and more
significant themes of sin, punishment, and the afterlife. These devices Dante uses in his work are, but
not limited to, symbolism, allegory, allusion, and a special kind of irony called contrapasso, which
will be discussed in this essay. Dante also arranges ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, when many similar allusions appear in what seems to be a deliberate order, it becomes
noticeable that the author wanted to convey a topic or argument in his or her writing without explicitly
saying so. But, why do authors choose to hide their ideas behind recurring symbols and allusions?
They usually do this because it is easier for them to demonstrate their beliefs through images and
symbols than words. Additionally, creating a text that has multiple layers of meaning also enriches the
work, and this is underlined by The Divine Comedy s long standing popularity. (Encyclopedia
Britannica) The Divine Comedy is considered to be an allegorical work because there are many
proposed theories for allegories throughout the story, and even some that encompass the entire work.
Additionally, because of its religious subject matter, many scholars study The Divine Comedy as they
would a religious work. For many, this entails interpreting the text in both a literal and figurative sense
(Encyclopedia Britannica).
One of the most popular and debated events is in Canto IX when the characters Dante and Virgil arrive
at the gates to the city of Dis. Beyond the locked gates, in the city, are the remaining circles of Hell the
characters need to travel through. However, they are spotted by three furies (some kind of beasts in
hell), and are

  • 2. Review Of The Overcoat And The Man Who Lived... Adaptation plays a large role in The Overcoat and The Man Who lived Underground . Bureaucracy does not affect Akaky because he is used to constant oppression. Daniels initially is oppressed by his surroundings until he learns to interact with them beneficially. Daniels, unlike Akaky, mentally transcends all forms of oppression by believing that he is a God. Daniel s transcendence from social restrictions allows him to live ignorantly in his oppressive world. Akaky and Daniels both interact with oppressive environments; however, they only experience subjugation from their environments when they are aware of the oppression. Ignorance of their circumstances allows the two to avoid experiencing the oppression unless there is a change in their status quo. At first glance, Akaky appears to be stuck in the bureaucratic system as a mere slave. The system supposedly oppresses him causing him to be compliant and introverted. He appears to be oppressed by the system causing him to be compliant and introverted. However, Akaky enjoys his position as a lowly clerk, and actually prefers to maintain his status rather than climb the ranks in his office to reduce the assumed oppression of the bureaucratic system. Thus, the individual has some control over whether or not they are oppressed by their environment or government. Akaky only experiences the oppression from the complex Russian bureaucracy when he loses his coat. He finds the need to interact with the different levels of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Or would it be rather aggravating; having to commemorate that moment over and over again? The Raven, written by Edgar Allan Poe is a very prominent gothic literature piece. Having to deal with his long lost love, the speaker is taunted by this raven who mysteriously appeared one dark and dreary night outside his chamber window. The speaker is forewarned of his long lost love, Lenore, by the raven showing up. A lot of people now a days refer back to this piece to help them understand loss, and heartbreak. In contrast to that, it s kind of like when people are scared or they are in the dark and they need comfort, so they think about their happy place to feel safe; the speaker was thinking about his happy place, Lenore. Furthermore, as the speaker was opening the door, the poem refers to him as curious and scared. Sort of a sick gut feeling, it has him thinking, what if Lenore was really here? There is a lot of emotion going on in this scene. For example, have you ever had to give a speech or talk in front of a humongous audience? That is what he was feeling at the moment. • 5. Importance Of Propaganda In Journalism Propaganda Propaganda regards truth and reality. It is deceptive, purposely less than honest, biased, devoid of a sense of fairness. It attempts to manipulate someone s ideas, actions and attitudes. Propaganda can be used in journalism by manipulating the story to be exaggerated or simply false. A journalist or public relations specialist could use a false or photo shopped image in a newspaper/webpage to sway their audience into thinking the subject of their story is true and not to their audiences knowledge it has been manipulated. Semantics Semantics studies how words came to be and what they mean. In a journalistic setting when covering a story, be sure of what you are actually portraying and what you re trying to say. There are clear distinctions between what reporting, inferences, and judgements are. Communitarianism Communitarianism has emphasis on society and the larger majority of a group. In journalism or public relations and individual would look at what brings people together. For example (fiction), covering a story about how MSU s Homecoming parade brought helping hands together as participants prepared to rain proof their floats last minute, which made for a successful homecoming parade. Diversity In Medicine In recent years, there has been a predicted shortage of physicians in the United States of America by 2025, numbering between 46,000 and 90,000 physicians for a growing United States population 1. Puritan Argumentative Essay The Puritan settler s beliefs in the relationship between individuals, God, and the community during the seventeenth century in New England created a sense of us (the Puritans) vs. them (the Native Americans and non Puritan colonists), who hindered the idea of a city upon a hill, the perfect Christian community. From John Winthrop s sermon warning the first settlers of New England about the retributions God would bring to the community if individuals broke there covenant with God (Winthrop 17 20). Davies Individuals could do nothing about their predestination: God s grace alone, not good deeds, determined their fates (Casper and Davies, 17). This relationship between God and the individual would affect the way Puritan colonists interpreted individual success as a way of knowing their fate, which separated the rich from the poor, who would not be saved (Winthrop, 18). This idea of individualism would help create the mentality of us vs them, as seen in Mary Rowlandson s narrative where she views the behavior of the Native Americans as savagery and describes them as heathens as lesser beings than herself (Rowlandson, 19). The idea of individualism allows the Puritan colonists to view the Native American behaviors as uncivilized compared to their own, which then they use to interpret their behaviors as favorable to God and the behavior of the Native Americans as demonized or against God. Which then begins to create a view of Native Americans as enemies that hinder the idea of a city upon a hill or a barrier in creating the perfect Christian community. While philosophy provides a path for humans to contemplate how the world works, it ultimately provides Boethius consolation indirectly by pointing to Christianity. In The Consolation of Philosophy, Boethius defines a human as, A rational and mortal creature however, Lady Philosophy implies he is missing something and declares, Now I know the other, in fact the greatest, cause of your disease: you no longer know what you are. She believes that Boethius is in so much distress not primarily because of the difficult situation he s facing in prison, but because he has forgotten in part what it means to be human, A rational and mortal creature created by good and loving God in His image. After her diagnosis, Lady Philosophy begins to cure Boethius through reason and dialogue, but ultimately strives to restore his relationship with God as the root of his dilemma comes from a lack of faith in God. Similar to a doctor referring a patient to a specialist, Lady Philosophy shows Boethius that he needs to turn to God in his despair in order to receive full consolation. As such, Lady Philosophy s remedy consists of her using reason and philosophy to point out that Boethius the answers to the questions he has is derived from an understanding of God. If we leave this out, we can t make a proper beginning of our work. Here marks the point, in the middle of the novel, where Boethius begins to turn to God for him in his dire situation. At this point, he is beginning to understand that God is source of all good and blessedness, rather than abiding in material goods and earthly views of happiness such as fame and wealth. In Vaclav Havel s The Power of the Powerless, the idea of the post totalitarian system is used to distinguish the dictatorships of Eastern Europe from classical dictatorships on the bases of: its verified historical roots, lack of social distinction of the ruling, open wielding of power, and reliance on ideology . The post totalitarian system fell victim to the use of ideology as a power source founded in lies and modifications of reality. The threat truth posed to the post totalitarian system highlighted its fragile dependency on ideology as a source of manipulative power and falsehoods that allowed mankind to cope with its departure from humanity. Ideology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Havel explains that the primary excusatory function of ideology was to provide people with the illusion that the system was in harmony with human order and the order of the universe . It is because of this that the post totalitarian system was so deeply rooted in lies. It had to falsify the past, the present and the future to give the illusion that its goals were aligned with those of mankind, although its true goals were in the name of self service. Individuals may not have necessarily believed these lies, but they behaved as if they did. This means they had to live within a lie and accept their place in it. Doing this confirmed the system thereby giving it more power. Those who accepted the ideological excuses of the system too constituted its power by becoming an active component of that power. This resulted in the system s power gradually relating more to ideology than to reality, thereby becoming entirely dependent on deceptions. The structure of the system was sustained and held together through the power created from the lies and excuses provided by ideology. Scholarly research shows that the emphasis placed on testing and standards, mandated by the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act, is causing teachers to focus entirely on basic skills in reading, writing, and math (Banks Banks, 2010). This paradox is not just affecting low income and minority students, but also students in non minority groups as well. When there is no time for focus on skills that students need to participate in social change, these students will not learn to question practices within society or to work with other students from all different groups and backgrounds in order to effect change. Classes in schools which may contribute to multicultural education, such as social studies and foreign language, are being cut completely in order to spend more time on reading and math (Au, 2009). This means that any regulation of melatonin on other hormones happen mostly in the SCN in the hypothalamus. The receptors of melatonin belong to the Gi/Go type of the superfamily of G Protein Coupled Receptors (GPCR)[8]. The G proteins are coupled to a number of effector systems influencing the intracellular signalling. They are designated as Gi/Go type because of their characteristic being inhibited by the presence of pertussis toxin[8]. Transduction Pathway The effector systems coupled to the melatonin receptors include the Adenylate cyclase, phospholipase C, L type calcium channels, and ATP sensitive K+ ion channels[8,6,33]. The inhibition of calcium influx via the L type calcium channels may be mediated by direct inactivation by the G protein[6] and/or through induced hyperpolarization by activation of ATP sensitive K+ channel[6]. Activation of the G proteins results to activation of ATP sensitive K+ channels. The active transport of K+ ion intracellularly results to hyperpolarization of the membrane. The hyperpolarization inactivates the voltage sensitive L type Ca2+ channels which only opens during membrane depolarization[8,6]. Locker searches are one tool schools have to ensure that students are following school policies, but they are not without drawbacks. The primary advantage of locker searches is their effectiveness. Finding contraband material such as stolen property, drugs or weapons in a student s locker is an easy way to establish guilt and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Pursuing A Career In School Psychology The authors begin chapter three by explaining that there are commonly discrepancies among raters and their ratings of child behavior. Moreover, these differences stem from the different perceptions of the parents, teachers, children, and even the school psychologist. The differences can also be attributed to the differences in the child s behavior across contexts. This information is important to acknowledge and understand for many reasons. We are different. What a parent might constitute as a poor behavior, might be seen as an acceptable behavior by the teacher. It all goes back to culture and what each person truly believes to be important and/or meaningful. This also made me think of other courses that we have taken where we were required to observe a child, as well as operationally define a target behavior. The operational definition of the behavior helps to ensure that anyone can observe the same behavior without confusion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Red Wolves have been endangered since the 1960s, which has affected history and the environment ( Red Wolves History Red Wolves Conservation Center). The deep book review will be split into different sections, one where I will dump a bunch of information about the storyline on the reader, another where I will rant about what makes this book deep but not good, and, finally, another about the author. The footnotes will be my way of interjecting Laszlo esque commentary on what would normally be a more formal piece of writing without drastically altering the formality of the review. Throughout the book, The Fifth Season changes from Syenite to Damaya to, finally, a character referred to as you (as you might expect, all chapters written from you s perspective are written in second person). As the book moves on, switching from character to character, similarities between Syenite and Damaya start to appear, until, chapter seventeen, when it is revealed Damaya is just a young Syenite. Towards the end, Syenite is revealed to be you (your name is Essun). So all along, when you thought you were reading the story of three different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Well, Father Earth lost his favorite child, so, in an attempt to appease Father Earth, some of the stone eaters decided they should try and get his favorite child, the moon back. So, the book ends with Essun getting ready to catch the moon. Pure awesomeness aside, I feel like I liked it better when things were confusing. The Arizona Department Of Corrections Rating System For this assignment I will referencing the Arizona Department of Corrections rating system, and touching on the current evaluation process and discussing options to improve on the process. I work in the department of corrections and the evaluation system currently implemented is the managing, accountability, and performance (MAP). This system is far from perfect, and very susceptible to subjective evaluations. Most employees do not agree with the evaluations they receive and for the most part this is due to the supervisors not putting in the required effort to properly evaluate each employee. It is not uncommon for a supervisor to rate all of their subordinates exactly the same, regardless if one employee excels and the other shows little to no interest. Supervisors often justify their vanilla evaluations by stating that the evaluations do not have any effect on your employment, since pay raises are not based from the appraisal. As you can imagine this method does little to raise the moral of the motivated hard working staff, and in my opinion needs to be revamped. I would prefer an evaluation based more on objective performance and behavioral observations. An objective performance rating is based on the measuring of actual results from employees. Although the Department of Corrections does not produce a product, or make sales that can be tracked, they are responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment to protect the public, fellow staff, and the inmates. These small towns, although quite distant from each other share one very important thing a doctor on call. This is becoming a more common trend in rural areas with a decline in health care physicians willing to work in such a secluded area far from amenities. This means that some days a physician is available in one town for as little as an hour or simply not present in the hospital at all. Health care is poor to limited for these rural areas, since there are far more people seeking medical attention than can be properly assisted in a reasonable amount of time. The availability of medical staff is crucial to the quality of health care provided in a hospital (NRHA). There is generally a lack of medical staff including physicians and nurses in rural hospitals. Even the shortage of a single physician is extremely likely to have widespread impacts in a rural community (NAC 2008). In order for these rural communities to maintain a positive, functioning health care system, more physicians and nurses need to be recruited to work in the rural setting. This means encouraging more health care physicians and staff to choose rural settings to work (NRHA 2003). This would explain why this argument can dominate headlines for a government during a recession, as a small increase in disposable income can have a big affect on utlity (happiness) for consumers/voters. An extension of this is that the poor would benefit especially from this tax decrease, as indirect taxes are generally regressive, which means that those on lowest incomes have to pay more (as a % of their total income) than higher earners. This is one of the problems with an indirect tax, and this problem would be reduced if the tax was reduced. Rich drivers on the other hand maybe happy to pay the higher tax, as they can afford it and it reduces the number of other drivers on the road therefore reducing their congestion. Haulage companies, firms working in complimentary industries (car manufacturers) and any firm using vehicles to transport their goods or staff would also benefit from a tax decrease. But, why do authors choose to hide their ideas behind recurring symbols and allusions? They usually do this because it is easier for them to demonstrate their beliefs through images and symbols than words. Additionally, creating a text that has multiple layers of meaning also enriches the work, and this is underlined by The Divine Comedy s long standing popularity.
