Roman Catholic Saints Research Paper
Roman Catholic Saints The book of Romans chapter one, verse seven; To all those in Rome who
are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord
Jesus Christ.
There are so very many Catholic Saints, but female saints have gone through some very appalling
treatment, yet still have stayed extremely secure in their faith and their beliefs. Saint Mary the
Blessed Virgin, Saint Mary of Magdala, Saint Faith of Conques, Saint Agnes of Rome, Saint
Bridget of Kildare, Saint Adela, Saint Rosalia (known as The little saint ), Saint Maria Goretti, and
Mother Teresa of Calcutta are all examples of such women. These individuals have all definitely
had very terrible experiences and have been treated rather ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Their lives convey the amount of faith necessary to sacrifice all that one cares for, to show that
that person loves God, and is extremely committed to serving Him. These women were so
startlingly impressive, and should be known as examples of how to treat others, and live one s life.
They all are written about, depicted in many paintings, and have many churches in their honor. This
shows how much the world remembers, and is thankful for the way these women lived and

FINAL FILM CRITIQUE
There s no doubt that Star Wars is one of the most impactful films of all time, having changed the
movie making game ever since it premiered in 1977. It quickly became a global phenomenon and
has accumulated some of the most passionate fans in the universe. Star Wars: Episode IV A New
Hope is a great example to use in order to illustrate the properties discussed throughout the course.
In this paper, I will analyze the entire movie. To begin, I will start by giving some basic
information about the motion picture, such as the director and type of film. Next, I will provide a
brief summary of the film. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Science fiction is broadly defined as a film about the future or alternate realities, often but not
always set in space, and frequently incorporating horror elements, science fiction movies are
wildly popular among fans (Goodykoontz, 2014). As a subgenre of fantasy, science fiction
enables viewers to relate to themes from an idealized alternative version of reality (Edwards,
2014). Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope is a feature length film that fits this genre perfectly.
Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope unfolds as princess named Leia is held hostage by the evil
Imperial forces in their effort to quell the rebellion against the Galactic Empire. Luke Skywalker
and a smuggler named Han Solo team together with the lovable droid duo, R2 D2 and C 3PO, to
rescue the beautiful princess and restore justice in the galaxy.
MP 3. Aesthetic Choices In this area, you will assess the efficacy of specific techniques and
design elements employed in the film as they apply to the overarching narrative and theme of the
film. These elements include: science fiction films can often be seen as allegories for things that
society may not want to be discussing. These alternative realities allow for the use of allegory in
referencing both current events and history, whereas stories set in contemporary

The Original Myth Of Daedalus And Icarus
The original myth of Daedalus and Icarus was written by Ovid in his story The Story of Daedalus
and Icarus . The story is about Daedalus, who was an architect, and Icarus, his son. They were
exiled to an island that can only be escaped through the air. Daedalus made wax wings that melt if
they get too close to the sun. When Icarusstarted flying, he flew too high and fell to his death.
This story has been interpreted several different ways; these include: Landscape with the Fall of
Icarus, a painting by Pieter Bruegel; Landscape with the Fall of Icarus , a poem by William
Carlos Williams; and Musee des Beaux Arts , a poem by W. H. Auden. The texts use different
elements to portray Icarus death, which symbolizes man s failure. One

Human Rights, A Non Governmental Organization
Hi all let me start by first elaborating on the background about various NGOs and there work in the
field of Human rights, A human rights NGO is a non governmental organization that works to
protect human rights and end human rights violations. The topic of human rights encompasses a
wide range of issues, including freedom of expression, right to due process, gender equality, and
freedom from poverty and violence. Many NGOs turn to the UN s Universal Declarations of
Human Rightsin order to fully outline organizational goals.
Human rights NGOs vary in their approach. Some NGOs perform extensive research in order to
document human rights abuses. These organizations serve as watchdogs, monitoring the potentially
abusive actions of governments. Many human rights NGOs work to bring public attention to
human rights abuses through information campaigns, NGO member updates, and coordination
with the press. By garnering public support of an issue, human rights NGOs can put intense
pressure on perpetrators to end human rights abuses. Human rights NGOs work at the local,
national and international level and may focus their efforts on government advocacy or grassroots
organizing.
I have chosen to write about Human Rights Watch, although a more familiar name we have all
became accustom too is Amnesty International, but after doing some research online and finding
out that Amnesty on some occasions have yielded to pressure not only from US Government but
also from the gov. of

James Weldon Johnson s Poetry
One poet, who s work has been relevant in the black community since the beginning of the
twentieth century, is that of James Weldon Johnson. Spanning the Reconstruction period and the
New Negro (Harlem) Renaissance, Johnson s work change as the time did. Yet, this does not
mean that all the poems in each era were significantly alike. The Gift to Sing and Prayer at Sunrise
are both poems the Johnson published towards the end of the reconstruction period. These poems
are related in their modes and devices used, but have different structures. Moreover both poems use
the same Black Arts patterns, but have differing messages intended for two separate groups of
people . Despite the differences of these poems, they are both great examples of the... Show more

Because both poems were written doing the Reconstruction, they were both forms of
encouragement. Yet, The Gift to Sing is encouraging the audience to look inwards to find their
source of hope and courage. Phrases such as in my throat, and in my heart reveal this. Prayer at
Sunshine, on the other hand, makes pleads to the great Maker, and Great Father of the sun. This
poem is instructing the audience to turn to God, or a god, because that is who will give provided
joy and strength to make it through each day. Through these different messages, people would be
able to find the exact type of encouragement that they needed. The works of James Weldon
Johnson are ones that are still as important to day, just as they were in 1917. The Gift to Sing and
Prayer at Sunrise, are just two of Johnson s pieces that live on because of their messages of
inspiration. Coupled with their dual use of the same patterns, devices, and related modes, these
poems may not seem to be that different. Yet, through the structure and the messages of these
poems, one can see that they were made for two distinct

Modern Day Technology Essay
Everywhere you look technology is being used. It is used in schools, workplaces, at home, in
transportation facilities, and everywhere you go. Technology has quickly become apart of people s
everyday life. Younger generations haven t experienced a world without technology. Life has been
made easier over time, with advances in the technological world. The Internet and virtual social
networks are new technologies that have had the most impact on young people and have provided
many benefits to their users. Some benefits include staying in touch with distant relatives and
having easy access to important news or weather updates. We have the answers to pretty much all
of our questions with just one push of a button. People are so engulfed in their technological
devices that most they don t even realize how harmful they can be. It can cause a variety of issues
including diseases, mental and physical issues, and bodily functions start to degrade.
Is the use of modern day technology harmful to one s health? Mental and physical health is
worsening because of modern day technology. Studies show that constant exposure to screens
changes the neural circuitry of developing brains, leading to shorter attention spans, stunted social
skills and a heightened ability to multitask (Gibson). Physical effects of technology can be
blemishes caused by your phone. Staring at your phone all day can wreck your spine, WiFi
exposure can lower men s sperm count, and too much screen time could strain

Kane s Blasted
I ve only ever written to escape from hell and it s never worked but at the other end of it when
you sit there and watch something and think that s the most perfect expression of the hell that I
felt then maybe it was worth it. (Sarah Kane, Royal Holloway College, London, 3 November
1998). (Saunders. 2002: 1). Both representative and reflected in this statement made by the British
playwright Sarah Kane (1971 1999) (Sierz. 2001: 90 91) is the state of being human. In its literal
sense the state of being human could be illustrated as an expression of existence. That of the
individual and characteristics and traits experienced through the life of mortal man. (Oxford

As stated by Sierz; Kane rejects the complacent view that Britain is immune from civil war.
(Sierz. 2001: 98). She comments further that; there was a widespread attitude in this country that
what was happening in central Europe could never happen here. In Blasted, it happened here.
(Sierz. 2001: 98). Blasted thus serves as a political vehicle of expression towards humanity
dispelling the norms of social convention to deliver a message about the atrocities of violence and
war, by being in itself a violent and in yer face dramatic act. (Sierz. 2001: 3 10).
The play revolves around three main character s Ian, Cate and the Soldier in a hotel room in
Leeds. To summarise; Ian and Cate meet in a hotel room some years after their relationship has
ended. Ian makes various attempts to cajole then, it is implied to force Cate to have sex with
him. A bomb goes off and destroys part of the room. Ian becomes the victim as a Soldier re enacts
war crimes perpetrated on his girlfriend, who was subsequently killed. The Soldier shoots himself.
Blinded, hungry and alone, Ian makes...attempt to find relief. Cate has left the hotel in search for
food and as the play ends, returns with provisions...she shares with a finally grateful

Canter Fair Description
We are peasants in medieval times that work hard every day and try to make a living and this is
our story. In a small home outside of Canterbury lived four men and their families named Arthur,
Drake, Griffo, and Hrodebert. All four of them were experienced armorers but they needed
money because they can t afford a simple meal. Our houses were made out of wood, straw, and
mud. At the first crack of dawn, we entered the kitchen for breakfast. We can t drink water
anymore due to a recent discovery of dirty water in rivers. Lately, we have been drinking ale or
cider. Our typical meals are dark bread, pottage, and soup. The pottage was flavored with
vegetables, beans, peas, bacon, salted pork. In the winter we had a few vegetables that we would eat

Then Arthur came up with a great plan. He said we should all make new sets of armor, better
sets of armor, way cooler sets of armor. We can make a bad set of armor and place it in the
middle, wait for the two men to return, follow them, attack their base, and finally get the armor
back! The 3 of them thought it was a great plan and so they all went back to the contest to start
crafting armors. As soon as they were done, they went to put the bad set of armor in the middle.
All of the sudden, a scream was heard from a distance. It was the city of Canterbury! All of the
fruits and foods have been stolen. The four boys went to see what had happened and who stole
the food. It was the two men. They were masked men, thieves. The four men quickly put on their
armor and rushed to find the men. It turns out, the men were none other than Gavin and Robin!
Gavin and Robin were there with a huge army standing behind them. The four boys slowly
backed away. The four boys the looked behind them to see all of the armorers that participated in
the contest in armor suits. Break a leg, Griffo! Hrodebert said sarcastically. Ha Ha, thats so funny!
Griffo exaggerated. Both of the armies started to attack. A war had begun. There was constant
fighting when in the end, the four boys and the brave fighters of Canterbury

The Effects Of Obesity On Public Health
Introduction
Obesity is a traditionally first world health problem that is a growing concern throughout the world
because of its negative effects on public health as well as the wider economy.
According to both the WHO and the NHS, an individual s Body Mass Index (BMI), is an
imperfect, yet effective tool for measuring obesity. The WHO definition has determined that a BMI
of 25 29.9 is classified as being overweight, whereas a BMI of 30 34.9 is considered to be a sign of
obesity (World Health Organization, 2014).The NHS goes on to add that it is useful to consider
an individual s waist circumference as fit and muscular people can also have a relatively high
BMI without an excess of fat, and classifies men and women with waist circumferences of 90cm
and 80cm respectively as being at risk for obesity related health conditions (Nhs.uk, 2014).
Obesity must be dealt with early and at the local level. In the London borough of Hammersmith
and Fulham, 20.1% of year 6 children are classified as obese, high compared to the national
average of 18.9%. Conversely, only 13.3% of adults in this borough are obese, much fewer than the
national average of 23.0% (Public Health England, 2014). This high prevalence of childhood
obesity exists despite the area doing well with traditional indicators such as physical activity and
uptake of school lunches. An unpublished 2012 report explained that the greatest risk factors found
were eating practices and familial obesity, although depravity,

Differences Between Film And Othello
Throughout the years the play Othello by William Shakespeare has been adapted both on the
screen and on stage many times. The questions or race and racism that have quite often been a
point of discussion with William Shakespeare s play Othello can be seen through the bard, however
some may argue that Othellos skin colour was purely a plot device. This paper will look at two film
that have been re made since the 1960 s, which provides an analysis of the concept of raceand how
political ideas and events of that time have influenced each adaptation. It will be seen that the
film version of Othello directed by Oliver Parker in 1995 compared to the film version directed by
Geoff Sax in 2001 present s racewith differing degrees.
Oliver Parker ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other critics denied that Parker s version in any way entertained the subject of race. Brode and
Rick Groen, a reviewer for The Globe and Mail Review, thought it was a sexual thriller with
overtones of homosexual attraction.
From a visual perspective, the film is captivating, especially the love scene between Othello and
Desdemona. To say that this is based on the O.J Simpson trial is perplexing. Although Parker
does selectively reduce the dialogue from Shakespeare s play, all that has been selectively
captured and included from the play, is straight out of the play. Although there is no basis
between the film and the O.J Simpson trial the commonality between the true is that they both
invite the audience to look and think about how conscious we are about the issues of race within
society. Unlike 400 years ago, in modern society, it is very much impossible to ignore Iago s
character and not determine that he is in fact a racist. The symbolism used by Parker where Iago
delivers his monologue over the chess board, where the chess pieces have been positioned to
show a black king opposing a white queen and knight, is used to clearly illustrate Iago s
manipulative character in trying to make Othello question whether Desdemona is even attracted to
him because of his colour. Instead, Iago pairs both the white queen and the white knight signifying
a more likely choice for Desdemona would be Cassio.
At the beginning of the film,

Extensive Reading Essay
Extensive reading can prove to be beneficial to learners if they are exposed to it since a young
age in Mauritius. For instance it can be said that there is a poor reading culture in Mauritius. It
cannot be ignored that some students do like reading but if an Extensive Reading Programme was
introduced then it could motivate more learners to read. The benefits of reading a lot should be
made clear to learners so that they can develop the habit to read. As a hypothesis, extensive reading
and extensive reading programmes are good ideas, but when actually operating it, it could be
demanding. This essay will focus on the advantages of reading abundantly and the challenges of
implementing the programme with the support of examples.
Reading bountifully brings along a number of benefits, one of which is vocabulary acquisition.
The gaining of lexicons is one of the most known pros. As Anderson (1996) and Ching Yin Leung
(2002) pointed out, extensive reading helps in acquiring vocabulary. By reading lot learners are
exposed to more and more words, thus they learn about new words as they see them often and in
different contexts. This in turn enhances their grammar and terminology as well as learners will
learn about the structures. Studies for example, Renandya (2001) have shown positive results of
gains in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some students do not respond positively to extensive reading. For instance, as seen in Powell
(2005) while most students are in favor of extensive reading and the implementation of the
programme, three of them thought that extensive reading was not a good idea and eleven
categorized it as too much work (p.33). This shows that different students have different views on
reading. I think that many students in Mauritius are not brought up with a reading culture. They do
read but not extensively. Most of them read because they need to. Extensive reading programme
might have a negative response in

Similarities Between The Fault In Our Stars And This Star...
Are people naive to accept love knowing it will cause them pain later? And just how do you deal
with the discomforting pain? John Greene, the author of The Fault In Our Stars , once wrote a

throughout the story fought a tough battle, but was it for sickness or the sake of love?
In this situation, The Fault In Our Stars and This Star Won t Go Out share many similar qualities.
The novels contribute common interest of symbolism throughout. For example, each novel dealt
with friendship and emotion. Both adolescents were quite conservative as they felt that they

The Spanish Reconquista and the formation of Spanish national identity
During the times the Iberian Peninsula was ruled by the Muslims and was called Al Andalus,
Christians, Jews and Muslims coexisted in harmony in the Caliphates. However, the understanding
of Spain as it is understood today did not exist. It was because of the Christianisation of the
peninsula and the Reconquista that Iberia was reimagined as something more similar to what we
understand today as Spain and Portugal. In this essay I intend to explain how this happened, which
historical figures were key to this event and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whether this battle is real or an invention from some scribe in the eleventh or twelfth Century is
uncertain, but it is doubtfully key to the understanding of the cult to the saint, since the legend
tells that he appeared to King Ramiro I on a dream promising his victory over the Moors, and
even after being severely injured in a previous battle by the enemy army, they took victory over
their foes . One of the biggest collections of iconography is in the Santiago de Compostela
cathedral, where a large collection of pictures and sculptures dress the building with his image .
Perhaps the most recognizable figure of the whole Reconquista is El Cid Campeador, a
Castilian nobleman who regained the city of Valencia in 1094. Almost everything we know
about him comes from texts dating over a century and a half after his death, so there has been
speculation about if he was indeed a real man or just a legend, although this seems to be
completely speculated since there is proof enough to say with almost all certainty that he indeed
existed . He gained the city of Valencia in 1409, only to be lost again three years after his death .
Still, his image was still very present and magnified in the subsequent years, inspiring all kinds of
art and literature, such as the very significant Cantar del Myo Г‡yd, the oldest preserved epic
poem, which tells his story.
Despite being loss after his death, the city of Valencia was won again by Jaume I El Conqueridor

Feminism In The Bloody Chamber
The Bloody Chamber is a collection of short stories written in 1979 by Angela Carter during a
time known as second wave feminism. Carter s work was highly influenced by the genre of fairy
tales, Carter has been quoted saying her stories in The Bloody Chamber are stories about fairytales
in order to show what is wrong with them. Carte writes within and against fairy tales by this it is
meant that she both conforms to some of the conventions of the genre and deliberately deviates
from them purposely to illustrate her points.

The door is now open to the possibility that both the United States and Cuba could benefit from
restoring ties. This could be possible if Cuba and the Castro government are open to minimizing

The US will also need to take the right approach to engage Cuba and offer education and

Sappho Poem Analysis
Sappho was one of the most important poetess of her time, if not the most important of all. To
talk about Sappho is to summon intense feelings related to love and eroticism. All who enjoy her
poetry know it. Sappho is a Greek poet of antiquity who lived a life of almost legend, on the island
of Lesbos which is near the Turkish coast. In the city of Mytileneshe ran a school for aristocratic
girls; in this environment combined pedagogy with sensuality, and in it appeared her poetry. With
respect to her lovelife many anecdotal and trivial things have been commented on.
To us, for more than two thousand years, it pleases us to evoke it through its verses, conceived

The Airline Industry Value Chain Essay
Airline industry value chain Inbound logistics Primary activites В•Stock control В– airlines must
store and handle fuel, food, and drinks. Stock is managed to ensure reductions in stock turnover,

Total War Dbq Essay
Throughout history, there have been a multitude of examples of wars brought too close to home.
At times, there comes a point in war where consideration of innocent lives becomes thin, and all
energy is put towards war efforts, rather than any other aspect of human life. These points in
history are referred to as total war. Examples of total war can be seen as far back as in the ancient
civilizations of Rome and Persia, however, the paragon of total war can be found in World War
Two. Based on the overall involvement of a vast multitude of civilians, economies and countries
targeted and impacted throughout the war, World War Two is the strongest example of total war in
American history. To begin with, World War Two shows the most instances

An example of this is the extremely well known poster of Rosie the Riveter created by J.
Howard Miller. The poster reads, We can do it! (Document B), and was meant to encourage
women to join the workforce while men were fighting, specifically in the weapon production
field (History.com). This is an instance in which the United States tried to devote all resources
to the war. Rather than staying at home and practicing the life of a stereotypical woman during
the time, women were motivated to take on new responsibility in order to provide for the war
effort, putting the war above all things. Another American example would be that of food rations
during the war time period. Assigned by the Office of Price Administration, The ration books
contained removable stamps good for certain rationed items, like sugar, meat, cooking oil, and
canned goods (Document C). The rations were put into place so that these types of resources
could be contributed to the war effort (National Park Service), which is a clear example of a
country devoting all of its resources to the war. The civilians were forced to make sacrifices for
the ultimate goal of keeping the war a priority. Another more blatant example of this during the war
can be found in the Soviet

Honourable judges, teaches and my fellow friends, good morning to all of you. Today I am going
to tell a story about Little Mermaid with Soul . Long long time ago...
In the city of Palermo, on the island of Sicily, there lived a poor fisherman.
He was so poor, he didn t even own a boat. Every day he carried his net down to the sea, tossed it
into the water and pulled it up at the end of the day.
One day when he pulled in the net he saw something sparkling. At first he thought it was a doll.
But he looked closer, he saw that it was a little mermaid, only two or three feet long.
At first he was frightened and wanted to throw her back in the water. He was a superstitious man,

Messina, which is another city in Sicily.
And that s what they did. Marina was fascinated.
Marina had never been happier in her entire life, not even when she lived in the sea. Now she lives

The Longworth House Office Building, Thomas Jefferson...
What I would like to point out especially is its capital. The building has capitals with two volutes,
which was very common in the Ionic order. Each column consists of the capital, shaft, and base,
which is analogous to the basic form of the Ionic order. The most important feature of the Ionic
order is the frieze, which is usually carved with relief sculpture arranged in a continuous pattern
around the building (Hemingway, 2003). However, the feature was not applied to this building.
Both in the Doric and the Ionic, the column are fluted but these columns have smooth surfaces.
During my research, I found that many architectures identified as the Ionic order style, actually
have smooth surface columns as well (ex. the Longworth House Office Building, Thomas Jefferson
Memorial). Various architectural designs that the Western society has adopted demonstrates how
heavily they are influenced by the Ancient Greek culture and the Roman culture. During those eras,
the buildings were intended to communicate its function to the viewer automatically. Known as

The Economic And Social Effects Of Globalization On Jamaica
Life and Debt is a documentary that examines the economic and social effects of globalization on
Jamaica. The movie mainly describes the affects of the International Monetary Fund and the World
Bank s structural adjustment programs. While these funds are created to help developing countries
become more developed, the documentary shows how the reforms were not successful in Jamaica
and put the country in debt. This paper will discuss the portrayal of globalizationin the documentary,
and how globalization can affect people through different scale both locally and globally. The
documentary depicts globalization as way in which countries are interconnected around the world
and affect each other through various economic, social, and political processes. The documentary
particularly focuses on the economic affects of globalization, by examining the affects of economic
liberalization and the internationalization of finance through organizations such as the International
Monetary Fundand structural adjustment programs. Loans given by the IMF to developing
countries such as Jamaica do not help them develop, but instead prevent them from advancing
economically and socially. The advancements that these loans have guaranteed have not occurred,
and the policies that have been imposed with the loans have negatively impacted the majority of
the Jamaican population. Many local workers, especially farmers, have lost their jobs as goods are

Macro environment or macro forces consists of the larger societal factors that have the potential to

demographic, economic, natural, technological, political, and cultural outside forces. ( Josbd , n.d,

Technological environment is the combination some factors which develop new products and also

creating new product and market opportunities, it also creates opportunity for customers to

New and improved technology can either profit the organization, or create threats of more
competitors in the market. In the sportswear industry, technological factors could cause
unemployment as machines replace workers. It could, however, reduce cost as more products
can be made at a lower cost and lesser amount of time compared to labor made garments.
Moreover, technology can benefit the sportswear marketers as a form of market research as social

Dubrova of the University of Leicester in England and his colleagues claim that they have found
evidence that germline mutation rates in humans can be increased by ionizing radiation. Dubrova s
team compared specific gene segments taken from the blood of people in 79 families that lived in

Chernobyl. Also they studied 105 members from unexposed families in the United

The researchers studied gene segments known as minisatellite loci, repeating patterns of roughly
5 to 45 bases, the units that make up DNA. No one knows the genetic purpose, if any, of
minisatellites, but their variation from person to person enables scientists to use them as the basis
of so called genetic fingerprinting .(Dubrova )Because a child s DNA represents a combination of
germline DNA from both parents, any sequence in the child that does not have either parents DNA
in it, must result from a germline mutation. Dubrova s team therefore looked for minisatelite
sequences in the children s DNA that did not appear in either of the parents DNA. They found
twice the number of mutations in children of exposed Belarus parents as in U.K. children. We are
99 percent sure that these are real germline mutations and they have been passed from parent to

Analysis Of The Movie Return Streak And Winning A...
Manassas is an inner city high school in North Memphis Tennessee with a poorly funned football
program that holds a 110 year losing streak. Each individual athlete faces internal and external
challenges of growing up in a poor and dangerous neighborhood with little or no parental guidance
at all. Coach Bill Courtney devotes the majority of his time to Manassas s football program and
also steps in as a father figure to many of these boys and unites the team. In return, this causes the
team to perform better on the field, thus, breaking Manassas s losing streak and winning a playoff
game. In this documentary there was a mental skill that stood out the most, in particular, group
dynamics/ cohesion. Throughout the team s football season coach Courtney helps the boys feel
closer with their fellow teammates, thus, resulting in each individual to look out for one another.
With that said, in the movie the team worked together to achieve a common goal which was to win
a playoff game while also working on individual interpersonal relationships with other teammates.
With that in mind, different elements of task and social cohesion are emphasized in this
documentary. The theoretical development of group dynamics/ cohesion was exhibited through
O.C. Brown. To illustrate, in the beginning of the film O.C. Brown was a short tempered kid who
only looked out for himself, however, throughout this documentary O.C. Brown begins to improve
on his cohesion with the team and also reveals

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Schizophrenia
Introduction
Schizophrenia is very complex and startling disorder characterized by a broad range of cognitive
and emotional dysfunctions (Barlow Durand, 2015, p. 477). It can greatly impact a person s life in
a negative manner: affecting physical, emotional, relational, and occupational health. The National
Institute of Mental Health defines schizophrenia as a chronic and severe disorder that affects how a
person, think, feels, and acts (National Institute of Mental Health, n.d., para. 1). It is believed to be
caused by an excess of the neurotransmitter dopamine (Brisch, Saniotis, Wolf, Bielau, Bernstein,
Steiner, ..., Gos, 2014).
Symptomology and Diagnosis
The American Psychiatric Association gives five main symptoms of schizophrenia: delusions,
hallucinations, disorganized speech, disorganized or catatonic behavior, and negative symptoms
(5th ed.; DSM 5; American Psychiatric Association [APA], 2013). Since the presentation of
schizophrenia varies from person to person, only two out of these five symptoms need to be present
in order to get a diagnosis. There are three categories of symptoms that accompany schizophrenia:
positive, negative, and cognitive (Carlson, 2013). The five symptoms above all fit within these
three categories. Positive symptoms occur when something abnormal is present, negative
symptoms occur when something normal is absent, and cognitive symptoms occur when something
is abnormally cognitively. When one has schizophrenia, the symptoms appear as

Descartes Myth-Gilbert Ryle
Gilbert RyleВ’s The Concept of Mind
Gilbert Ryle (1900 76) was a philosopher who taught at Oxford and who made important
contributions to the philosophy of mind and to ordinary language philosophy. His most important
writings included Philosophical Arguments (1945), The Concept of Mind (1949), Dilemmas
(1954), Plato s Progress (1966), and On Thinking (1979).
The Concept of Mind (1949) is a critique of the notion that the mind is distinct from the body, and
it is a rejection of the theory that mental states are separable from physical states. According to
Ryle, the classical theory of mind, as represented by Cartesian rationalism, asserts that there is a

Thus, the mind consists of various abilities or dispositions that explain such behaviors as

The nature of a personВ’s motives may be defined by the actions and reactions of that person in
various circumstances or situations. The nature of a person s motives in a particular situation may

Ryle criticizes the theory that the mind is a place where mental images are apprehended, perceived,

Ephesians some of the rest of the new rules for getting into heaven through Jesus. I believe that all
of Gods rules old and new are easy to follow as long as we try to do onto others as we want done
onto us. In Ephesians 1 Paul tells us how wonderful God is to us. God has handpicked Christians
to be Jesus s followers. Then in Ephesians 2 he talks about how the Jews (circumcised) and the
Gentiles (uncircumcised) are now one and are Christians. He says that the Gentiles, even though
they are not circumcised, are no longer outcasts to him and are now his children. So one of the new
rules is that you do not need to be circumcised to get into heaven anymore.... Show more content on

Paul uses this time to teach us about one of God s new rules, to love. As followers of a God so
full of love, we have to show the same love to others. Ephesians 4 goes to prove the point that
loving others is the way of God. Paul says we all have to work together because we all have
different talents to bring God. One person is no better or more useful than another so we should
love everyone. The other rules he tells us is: you shouldn t be selfish, shouldn t lie, shouldn t be
mean, and shouldn t make the Holy Spirt

Essay on The USA Patriot Act
The USA Patriot Act
The United States of America is a country that is based upon a principle of balancing the rights of
an individual, while still preserving public order. The U.S. Constitution (specifically the Bill of
Rights) guarantees every American certain Individual rights. Some of these rights include; freedom
from unreasonable search and seizures, a right to due process of law, and protection against cruel
and unusual punishment (The 4th, 5th and 8th Amendments). Historically the criminal justice
system has preserved these rights of peopled accused of crimes. However on September 11, 2001,
the United States became the victim of the largest terrorist attack the World has ever seen.

The Horse Fair And Great Blue Horses, By Rosa Bonheur
The Horse Fair and Great Blue Horses
In this paper I will compare and contrast two paintings, one from French artist Rosa Bonheur and
another from German painter Franz Marc. Marc was an expressionist artist who was a pioneer in
the birth of abstract art at the beginning of the twentieth century. (Pioch, 2002) Bonheur was a
Realist artist who made a great impact on the painting style of realism during the ninetieth century.
Bonheur was about embracing reality and nature, while Marc was about evoking moods through the
subject matters and colors choices in his paintings. These two artist styles are particularly different
from one another, but yet they still have similarities throughout their paintings. This paper will
highlight the similarities and differences between these two artists, making the theme reality verses
perception .
The first painting that I have chosen is The Horse Fair by French artist Rosa Bonheur. This painting
is considered to be Bonheur s best known painting . (The Metropolitan Museum of Art., 2015)
Bonheur began work on this painting in eighteen fifty two, and in eighteen fifty three this painting

Mortality in the Stranger by Albert Camus Essay example
Everyone will die. Meursault s awareness of death contributes to his nonchalant attitude toward
every death he witness or must endure in The Stranger. Death fails to upset Meursault. In The
Stranger, Albert Camus emphasizes mortality in order to expose the ignorance humanity has
towards the inevitable or unknown end.
Camus s emphasis on time accentuates Meursault s indifference. This indifference reveals that death
occurs inevitably, regardless of time. The first thought that the audience reads, Maman died today.
Or yesterday maybe, I don t know. I got a telegram from the home: Mother deceased. Funeral
tomorrow. Faithfully yours. That doesn t mean anything. Maybe it was yesterday, immediately
exhibits that when Maman died does not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This realization demonstrates the lack of power that people have over time, and by association,
death. The reader assumes that since Salamano and his dog grow old together, they may likely
also die together. Nearer to Meursault s execution, the chaplain asks, But if you don t die today,
you ll die tomorrow, or the next day. And then the same question will arise. How will you face
that terrifying ordeal (Camus 117)? Death, unpredictable and uncontrollable, will occur when it
wishes, and through his indifference to time, Meursault asserts that getting upset over something
known to be inevitable provides as useless. Camus foreshadows Meursault s death through the
symbols of heat and Salamano s dog. While observing Salamano and his dog, Meursault notes,
After living together for so long, the two of them alone in one tiny room, they ve ended up
looking like each other...They look as if they belong to the same species, yet they hate each other
(Camus 26 27). The likeness of Salamano and his dog produces the idea of inescapable death for
all living things. They have become similar to each other in appearance without noticing, just as
they have always had the same end laid out without noticing. Meursault s recognition provides a
sense of the period of existentialism, focusing on the individual, but also contrastingly granting that
the individual is part of a whole. However, the nurse acknowledges that all beings have the same
fate when she says, If you go slowly, you

Essay On Asian American Stereotypes
Asian Stereotypes are everywhere in our society. Racial stereotypes often arise from fear of the
unknown. In the history of the different forms stereotypes often result from prejudice. It helps to
explain why people tend to think that Asians do not drive well. But the statistics do not show this
conclusion, also why blacks are more likely to be arrested or shot by the police. Specific racial
stereotypes tend to have cultural background, while other racial stereotypes are simply due to the
oversimplification of complex information.
Stereotypes of Asians in particular have been around for a long of time. In the late 19th century,
many Asians went to the United States to pursue their dream because they want to improve their
family quality of life. And they work so hard to make money so Americans were afraid that the
Asian laborers would invade the country and let them loose the job opportunity. So the term Chinky
Chink was used to explain the American afraid that a huge number of Asians will live in America
and become immigrate.

Examples Of Ambiguity In Catullus
V Ambiguity and Paradoxes
Ambiguity can be defined as a word, phrase, or statement which contains more than one meaning.
Ambiguity leads to vagueness and confusion which creates alternative reactions and understanding
of the same work.
Catullus uses ambiguity to create a sensation that one situation is taking place even when reading
the verse form in context or merely studying the poem in its entirety the work takes on a whole new
significance.
The poem opens with depictions of beauty imaginary of the Argo s first voyage alluding that poem
may be about the myth of Jason and Medea. Later in line 19 though we see the real subject of the
poem is Peleus and Thetis, how they fell in love and their marriage, however, things take a dramatic
turn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this is the tapestry Ariadne appears on. Catullus does not state its source and origin
nor its purpose.
Yet, more than half of the poem is narrated through the tapestry. We are to believe what it sees,
hears and says but we only have one side, and see a forgetful Theseus whose promises are fitting
to write on the wind. Paradoxically, however, what Ariadne sees also alludes to, and so makes us
see, a different picture: a Theseus who could have been made forgetful to serve the purposes of
Bacch.
In poem 85 as discussed above, Catullus also makes use of paradoxes stating I love and I hate. In
68a Catullus states that he being overcome by grief due to his brother s death is unable to write.
Then in 68b although he is still experiencing the same pain to which he refers in 68a and in which
Catullus repeats almost exactly what he said in 68a, Catullus states that he cannot stop himself from
writing.
He captures two entirely different experiences: first, his inability to write poetry in 68a, due to his
brother death, and second, his inability not to write poetry, despite his brother s

Overview of 3GPP Lont Term Evolution
An Introduction of Overview of 3GPP LTE (Long Term Evolution) Long Term Evolution (LTE)
is 4G wireless communications standard radio platform technologies that allow operators to
achieve higher peak throughputs than HSPA+ in higher spectrum bandwidth. LTE was
developed by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), and this began in 2004, with an
official LTE work item started in 2006 and a completed 3GPP Release 8 specification in March
2009. Initial deployments of LTE began in late 2009, and it is part of the GSM evolutionary
path for mobile broadband, following EDGE, UMTS, HSPA (HSDPA and HSUPA combined)
and HSPA Evolution (HSPA+). Although HSPA and its evolution are strongly positioned to be
the dominant mobile data technology for the next decade, the 3GPP family of standards must
evolve toward the future. HSPA+ will provide the stepping stone to LTE for many operators. The
overall objective for LTE is to provide an extremely high performance radio access technology
that offers full vehicular speed mobility and that can readily coexist with HSPA and earlier
networks. Because of scalable bandwidth, operators will be able to easily migrate from their
networks and users from HSPA to LTE over time. LTE assumes a full Internet Protocol (IP)
network architecture and is designed to support voice in the packet domain. It incorporates top of
the line radio techniques to achieve performance levels beyond what will be practical with CDMA
approaches, particularly in larger

The Period Of The Antebellum South
The period of the antebellum south was among the most burdensome times for African
American slaves, especially females. During the early 1800s the lives of enslaved women were
extremely demanding. The female slaves were expected to bear children, as well as were
required to work just as hard as the male slaves on the plantation. Days were long and laborious
for slave mothers, they had to make sure that all the work that needed to be done was completed,
and also care for their children. Female slaves jobs varied from housework, to fieldwork. Slave
mothers knew that giving up on their work was not an option, they had to persevere for their
families. Motherhood and work went hand in hand for female slaves, one was not able to do
one and not the other. Field labor was an unavoidable task that was fulfilled by nearly all slaves
in the antebellum south. There was no gender discrimination in the fields, female slaves had to
perform almost all of the plantation chores. Some of the chores female slaves were obligated to
complete were picking, hoeing, plowing, mending fences, burning fields, weeding, planting, and
harvesting. The work day was long and grueling, slaves worked from sunrise to the sunset.
Working the fields was a strenuous job, however it was not done alone. They acquired the
opportunity to work beside other female slaves. The groups of female slaves in the fields were
called gangs. The gangs often sang, talked quietly, and passed along confidential information.

A Kid s Guide To Divorce By Lorrie Moore Analysis
Sommer Abdelrahim
EN 106
Professor Csedrik
27 February 2015
Should We Just Ignore It? The divorce rate in the United States is higher than fifty percent today.
The divorce rate continues to increase in America due to many reasons, one of them being that
society today is a disposable society. Back in the day, when someone had a broken shoe he or she
would fix it, and if there was a problem with a couple s marriage, the two would work through it.
But today, it is easier to ignore the problem, throw away what we do not like anymore and move
on to the next, which is not the right way to live. In Lorrie Moore s A Kid s Guide to Divorce,
Moore writes about a child and his or her mother. The two are sitting in their living room watching
TV as they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

But she ignored the problem and continued to do what she thought was right. She has published
plenty of books and short story collections which have made her very successful as a writer. A
Kid s Guide to Divorce is one of the short stories from her book called Self help . In Moore s real
life growing up, the elephant in the room with her and her parents was her career choice. In A
Kid s Guide to Divorce , the elephant in the room was the parents divorce and the mother s
unwillingness to address the problems and talk about the divorce with her child. But she still
makes it clear that she wants to know what her ex husband is doing (citation). The mom pretty
much wants to ignore the problem and although the child is protecting his mother from some
information which would hurt her feelings, he or she still deserves to know what happened and
what s next. The mom keeps ignoring the issue and continues to push it to the side which will
ultimately create a bigger problem and blow up in her face. It is clear that Moore gets her
inspiration for her writing from her own life and

Descriptive Essay On My Dream Car
Whether it s a lifted truck running a hemi or a suped up WRX, your dream car embodies what you
desire, the life you d like to live, and the kind of person you d like to be. Your real car embodies
what you have, the life you live, and the kind of person you are.
The search for your dream car entails spending months combing over different makes and models
of car, seeing which has the most horsepower, the fastest, the best for mudding or the best for
racing. Pondering what it would be like to own such a masterpiece of vehicular perfection.
The time spent imagining what your friends would think if you were to pull up to school in a
Rolls Royce, stepping out like a lavish Bill Gates. The flock of people crowding around the new
wheels just to catch a glimpse.
Instead, people walk briskly past your car to distance themselves from the smell of burning oil and
the squeaking the tranny makes anytime you shift to park.
But back to the dream car, the embodiment of fancy, adorning a leather interior, unnecessary interior
lights, top of the line dash clusters and head unit gadgets.
You look down and see your car is outfitted with an interior resembling a 1640 s tavern. Seats
stuffed with a frightening combination of feathers and hay, interior lights so dim you can t see
the pedals in the dark and worst of all, the dash. The tachometer, idling dangerously close to 3,
spikes randomly if you go over 45. As we move over, we meet the fuel gage, hovering ever so
close to the dreaded E. Does your car know what a full tank of gas is like or only what $5 gets
you? But hey, I m sure that s enough to get to school, right? Next we find the temperature gage,
where even in park the daring arrow continues to inch it s way closer and closer to H. Then we
glance over to the ominous but impending doom of the dash lights. You know what light that is,
but if you don t look maybe it will go away. A strange box with the word CHECK inside. It could
be anything from a faulty light, to a blown head gasket, but that s not important cause you re not
fixing it regardless.
Last but not least, we reach the coup de gras of your dash, the odometer. Dust covers the numbers,
protecting your eyes from the abomination that is the mileage.

Theme Of Masculinity In Apur Sansar
This essay discusses the different types of masculinity depicted in Apur Sansar (1959), directed by
the Indian filmmaker Satyajit Ray. These representations are explained by analysing and contrasting
different male characters and their attitudes in the film. In addition to this, the significance of
presentism is a key theme when it comes to reflecting on the conventions of the 1950s, not only in
the West but also in Bengal. Finally, the relation between men and women are explored in order to
achieve a better insight about the topic, highlighting Apu and Aparna s relationship during their
marriage. Before Delhi became the capital of India during the British Raj, Calcutta was the first one
where appointed viceroys ruled India. Consequently,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

to marry Aparna out of sympathy. Despite the economic problems, they were happily married
during marital life in which there was no such a thing as female submissiveness or oppression,
unlike other conventional marriages. In terms of presentism, Apu and Aparna s attitudes as
spouses would not be atypical nowadays but would be opposed to the mentality of the fifties
regarding the role of the man and woman. Another example of presentism is Apu s reaction when
Aparna dies. He cried, showing his sensitivity and emotions, which is associated with femininity.
Afterwards, he became an emasculated man who is not capable of showing love to his son. In the
50s, the reaction would be totally different to get a new wife as Apu s neighbor

Bilingual Education Over The United States
The Acts have vastly improved bilingual education over the years. The current programs available
to culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) students are numerous and are found throughout the
U.S. The fact that educating CLD students has historically been a hot button issue so much that it
is part of the political arena. Bilingual educationhas become a controversial issue tied up with
immigration policies, government funding, and political parties. Therefore, there have been great
changes made overtime to how the program is administered, and what types of certifications the
educators require. The State of Texas has issued a Texas Education Code that includes laws and
codes passed by the state legislature. These include adaptations for special learning populations of
English languagelearners. The state mandated these policies found in the Texas Administrative
Code, Chapter 89 was enacted to ensure that every student in the state of Texas that is classified as
culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) will be a part of programs that provide native and
second languageinstruction. Policies and laws such as these were not available to protect culturally
and linguistically diverse student populations in the past. Krashen states, the sink or swim
technique was not a successful teaching practice with immigrants and American Indians; this
caused low academic achievement and increased dropout rates. The more recent policies are based

  • 6. Human Rights, A Non Governmental Organization Hi all let me start by first elaborating on the background about various NGOs and there work in the field of Human rights, A human rights NGO is a non governmental organization that works to protect human rights and end human rights violations. The topic of human rights encompasses a wide range of issues, including freedom of expression, right to due process, gender equality, and freedom from poverty and violence. Many NGOs turn to the UN s Universal Declarations of Human Rightsin order to fully outline organizational goals. Human rights NGOs vary in their approach. Some NGOs perform extensive research in order to document human rights abuses. These organizations serve as watchdogs, monitoring the potentially abusive actions of governments. Many human rights NGOs work to bring public attention to human rights abuses through information campaigns, NGO member updates, and coordination with the press. By garnering public support of an issue, human rights NGOs can put intense pressure on perpetrators to end human rights abuses. Human rights NGOs work at the local, national and international level and may focus their efforts on government advocacy or grassroots organizing. I have chosen to write about Human Rights Watch, although a more familiar name we have all became accustom too is Amnesty International, but after doing some research online and finding out that Amnesty on some occasions have yielded to pressure not only from US Government but also from the gov. of ... In a small home outside of Canterbury lived four men and their families named Arthur, Drake, Griffo, and Hrodebert. All four of them were experienced armorers but they needed money because they can t afford a simple meal. Our houses were made out of wood, straw, and mud. At the first crack of dawn, we entered the kitchen for breakfast. We can t drink water anymore due to a recent discovery of dirty water in rivers. Lately, we have been drinking ale or cider. Our typical meals are dark bread, pottage, and soup. The pottage was flavored with vegetables, beans, peas, bacon, salted pork. In the winter we had a few vegetables that we would eat ... We can make a bad set of armor and place it in the middle, wait for the two men to return, follow them, attack their base, and finally get the armor back! The 3 of them thought it was a great plan and so they all went back to the contest to start crafting armors. As soon as they were done, they went to put the bad set of armor in the middle. All of the sudden, a scream was heard from a distance. It was the city of Canterbury! All of the fruits and foods have been stolen. The four boys went to see what had happened and who stole the food. It was the two men. They were masked men, thieves. The four men quickly put on their armor and rushed to find the men. It turns out, the men were none other than Gavin and Robin! Gavin and Robin were there with a huge army standing behind them. The four boys slowly backed away. The four boys the looked behind them to see all of the armorers that participated in the contest in armor suits. Break a leg, Griffo! Hrodebert said sarcastically. Ha Ha, thats so funny! Griffo exaggerated. Both of the armies started to attack. A war had begun. There was constant fighting when in the end, the four boys and the brave fighters of Canterbury ... • 13. The Effects Of Obesity On Public Health Introduction Obesity is a traditionally first world health problem that is a growing concern throughout the world because of its negative effects on public health as well as the wider economy. According to both the WHO and the NHS, an individual s Body Mass Index (BMI), is an imperfect, yet effective tool for measuring obesity. The WHO definition has determined that a BMI of 25 29.9 is classified as being overweight, whereas a BMI of 30 34.9 is considered to be a sign of obesity (World Health Organization, 2014).The NHS goes on to add that it is useful to consider an individual s waist circumference as fit and muscular people can also have a relatively high BMI without an excess of fat, and classifies men and women with waist circumferences of 90cm and 80cm respectively as being at risk for obesity related health conditions (Nhs.uk, 2014). Obesity must be dealt with early and at the local level. In the London borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, 20.1% of year 6 children are classified as obese, high compared to the national average of 18.9%. Conversely, only 13.3% of adults in this borough are obese, much fewer than the national average of 23.0% (Public Health England, 2014). This high prevalence of childhood obesity exists despite the area doing well with traditional indicators such as physical activity and uptake of school lunches. • 14. Differences Between Film And Othello Throughout the years the play Othello by William Shakespeare has been adapted both on the screen and on stage many times. The questions or race and racism that have quite often been a point of discussion with William Shakespeare s play Othello can be seen through the bard, however some may argue that Othellos skin colour was purely a plot device. This paper will look at two film that have been re made since the 1960 s, which provides an analysis of the concept of raceand how political ideas and events of that time have influenced each adaptation. It will be seen that the film version of Othello directed by Oliver Parker in 1995 compared to the film version directed by Geoff Sax in 2001 present s racewith differing degrees. Oliver Parker ... Brode and Rick Groen, a reviewer for The Globe and Mail Review, thought it was a sexual thriller with overtones of homosexual attraction. From a visual perspective, the film is captivating, especially the love scene between Othello and Desdemona. To say that this is based on the O.J Simpson trial is perplexing. Although Parker does selectively reduce the dialogue from Shakespeare s play, all that has been selectively captured and included from the play, is straight out of the play. Although there is no basis between the film and the O.J Simpson trial the commonality between the true is that they both invite the audience to look and think about how conscious we are about the issues of race within society. Unlike 400 years ago, in modern society, it is very much impossible to ignore Iago s character and not determine that he is in fact a racist. The symbolism used by Parker where Iago delivers his monologue over the chess board, where the chess pieces have been positioned to show a black king opposing a white queen and knight, is used to clearly illustrate Iago s manipulative character in trying to make Othello question whether Desdemona is even attracted to him because of his colour. Instead, Iago pairs both the white queen and the white knight signifying a more likely choice for Desdemona would be Cassio. At the beginning of the film, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For instance it can be said that there is a poor reading culture in Mauritius. It cannot be ignored that some students do like reading but if an Extensive Reading Programme was introduced then it could motivate more learners to read. The benefits of reading a lot should be made clear to learners so that they can develop the habit to read. As a hypothesis, extensive reading and extensive reading programmes are good ideas, but when actually operating it, it could be demanding. This essay will focus on the advantages of reading abundantly and the challenges of implementing the programme with the support of examples. Reading bountifully brings along a number of benefits, one of which is vocabulary acquisition. The gaining of lexicons is one of the most known pros. As Anderson (1996) and Ching Yin Leung (2002) pointed out, extensive reading helps in acquiring vocabulary. By reading lot learners are exposed to more and more words, thus they learn about new words as they see them often and in different contexts. This in turn enhances their grammar and terminology as well as learners will learn about the structures. Studies for example, Renandya (2001) have shown positive results of gains in ... One of the biggest collections of iconography is in the Santiago de Compostela cathedral, where a large collection of pictures and sculptures dress the building with his image . Perhaps the most recognizable figure of the whole Reconquista is El Cid Campeador, a Castilian nobleman who regained the city of Valencia in 1094. Almost everything we know about him comes from texts dating over a century and a half after his death, so there has been speculation about if he was indeed a real man or just a legend, although this seems to be completely speculated since there is proof enough to say with almost all certainty that he indeed existed . To talk about Sappho is to summon intense feelings related to love and eroticism. All who enjoy her poetry know it. Sappho is a Greek poet of antiquity who lived a life of almost legend, on the island of Lesbos which is near the Turkish coast. In the city of Mytileneshe ran a school for aristocratic girls; in this environment combined pedagogy with sensuality, and in it appeared her poetry. With respect to her lovelife many anecdotal and trivial things have been commented on. To us, for more than two thousand years, it pleases us to evoke it through its verses, conceived from the observation of the human nature, with absence of moral artifices. It is possible that Sappho , suffered more than a displeasure and misunderstanding. The sincere love expressed in her words and the generosity with which she opens her soul, have moved through the centuries. In addition to the pleasure of her beauty, her words mobilize reflections about our own affective behavior. Although our life should be a rich adventure in search of affection, it conjures of loneliness and vindication of love, not infrequently we retreat caresses, we are ashamed of our natural inclinations, we hide our tears because the context disqualifies and condemn love because it does not conform to certain rules. Examples of total war can be seen as far back as in the ancient civilizations of Rome and Persia, however, the paragon of total war can be found in World War Two. This is an instance in which the United States tried to devote all resources to the war. Rather than staying at home and practicing the life of a stereotypical woman during the time, women were motivated to take on new responsibility in order to provide for the war effort, putting the war above all things. Another American example would be that of food rations during the war time period. The rations were put into place so that these types of resources could be contributed to the war effort (National Park Service), which is a clear example of a country devoting all of its resources to the war. The building has capitals with two volutes, which was very common in the Ionic order. Each column consists of the capital, shaft, and base, which is analogous to the basic form of the Ionic order. The most important feature of the Ionic order is the frieze, which is usually carved with relief sculpture arranged in a continuous pattern around the building (Hemingway, 2003). However, the feature was not applied to this building. Both in the Doric and the Ionic, the column are fluted but these columns have smooth surfaces. During my research, I found that many architectures identified as the Ionic order style, actually have smooth surface columns as well (ex. the Longworth House Office Building, Thomas Jefferson Memorial). • 33. Symptoms And Symptoms Of Schizophrenia Introduction Schizophrenia is very complex and startling disorder characterized by a broad range of cognitive and emotional dysfunctions (Barlow Durand, 2015, p. 477). It can greatly impact a person s life in a negative manner: affecting physical, emotional, relational, and occupational health. The National Institute of Mental Health defines schizophrenia as a chronic and severe disorder that affects how a person, think, feels, and acts (National Institute of Mental Health, n.d., para. 1). It is believed to be caused by an excess of the neurotransmitter dopamine (Brisch, Saniotis, Wolf, Bielau, Bernstein, Steiner, ..., Gos, 2014). Symptomology and Diagnosis The American Psychiatric Association gives five main symptoms of schizophrenia: delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech, disorganized or catatonic behavior, and negative symptoms (5th ed.; DSM 5; American Psychiatric Association [APA], 2013). Since the presentation of schizophrenia varies from person to person, only two out of these five symptoms need to be present in order to get a diagnosis. There are three categories of symptoms that accompany schizophrenia: positive, negative, and cognitive (Carlson, 2013). The five symptoms above all fit within these three categories. Positive symptoms occur when something abnormal is present, negative symptoms occur when something normal is absent, and cognitive symptoms occur when something is abnormally cognitively. However, the world is too cruel to sustain such relationships. Lennie and George came closest to this ideal friendship, but they are forced to separate tragically. With this, a rare friendship vanishes, but the rest of the world represented by Curley and Carlson, who watch George leaving his friend s dead body fails to acknowledge it. The last theme is the impossibility of dreams. Most of the characters dream of a Motifs, which are repeated in the novel, are loneliness, friendship, strength and weakness. Men like George who migrate from farm to farm are often alone. As the story develops, Candy, Crooks, and Curley s wife all confess their deep loneliness. Each of these characters searches for a friend, someone to help them measure the world, as Crooks says. For George, the hope of such friendship dies with Lennie. Steinbeck explores different types of strength and weakness throughout the novel. The first, and most obvious, is physical strength. (Pioch, 2002) Bonheur was a Realist artist who made a great impact on the painting style of realism during the ninetieth century. Bonheur was about embracing reality and nature, while Marc was about evoking moods through the subject matters and colors choices in his paintings. This indifference reveals that death occurs inevitably, regardless of time. The first thought that the audience reads, Maman died today. Or yesterday maybe, I don t know. How will you face that terrifying ordeal (Camus 117)? Death, unpredictable and uncontrollable, will occur when it wishes, and through his indifference to time, Meursault asserts that getting upset over something known to be inevitable provides as useless. Camus foreshadows Meursault s death through the symbols of heat and Salamano s dog. While observing Salamano and his dog, Meursault notes, After living together for so long, the two of them alone in one tiny room, they ve ended up looking like each other...They look as if they belong to the same species, yet they hate each other (Camus 26 27). The likeness of Salamano and his dog produces the idea of inescapable death for all living things. Overview of 3GPP Lont Term Evolution An Introduction of Overview of 3GPP LTE (Long Term Evolution) Long Term Evolution (LTE) is 4G wireless communications standard radio platform technologies that allow operators to achieve higher peak throughputs than HSPA+ in higher spectrum bandwidth. LTE was developed by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), and this began in 2004, with an official LTE work item started in 2006 and a completed 3GPP Release 8 specification in March 2009. Initial deployments of LTE began in late 2009, and it is part of the GSM evolutionary path for mobile broadband, following EDGE, UMTS, HSPA (HSDPA and HSUPA combined) and HSPA Evolution (HSPA+). Although HSPA and its evolution are strongly positioned to be the dominant mobile data technology for the next decade, the 3GPP family of standards must evolve toward the future. HSPA+ will provide the stepping stone to LTE for many operators. The overall objective for LTE is to provide an extremely high performance radio access technology that offers full vehicular speed mobility and that can readily coexist with HSPA and earlier networks. Because of scalable bandwidth, operators will be able to easily migrate from their networks and users from HSPA to LTE over time. LTE assumes a full Internet Protocol (IP) network architecture and is designed to support voice in the packet domain. Field labor was an unavoidable task that was fulfilled by nearly all slaves in the antebellum south. There was no gender discrimination in the fields, female slaves had to perform almost all of the plantation chores. Some of the chores female slaves were obligated to complete were picking, hoeing, plowing, mending fences, burning fields, weeding, planting, and harvesting.
